Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Erich Maria...
World War I was a global war that originated in Europe and lasted from July 1914 to November 1918.
Two writers that described their feelings during the war were Erich Maria Remarque, who wrote All
Quiet on the Western Front, and Edward Thomas, who wrote This is no case of petty right or wrong .
While Thomas uses metaphors and an aggravated tone to reveal why patriotism is more beneficial
than nationalism in his poem, Remarque more effectively presents this theme through his more
extensive use of specific metaphors, accusatory word choice, and emotional tone in his novel. As an
example, Remarque is superior in the metaphors that he uses to describe the war and its negative
impacts, thus making a more effective argument for patriotism and against ... Show more content on

For example, Thomas uses We love ourselves as we hate her foe (Thomas 26). Thomas does not hate
other countries more than he loves England. This shows the distinction between his view and
nationalism, where Thomas would hate other countries more than he loves his. Thus, the reason why
he wants to protect England is so that he can protect his own freedom. Remarque, on the other hand,
has much stronger tone and word choice, which makes it more clear that Remarque is patriotic while
also differentiating himself from the nationalist point of view. We loved our country as much as they;
we went courageously into every action; but also we distinguished the false from the true, we had
suddenly learned to see (Remarque 26). Here, courageously is referencing the fact that many of the
soldiers were patriotic indeed, but the nationalist propaganda that authority was feeding them was
fake. Thus, the soldiers are now able to see the amount of destruction that the nationalism had caused.
Therefore, unlike Thomas, Remarque is able to add more depth about how others felt during the war
to his arguments. Another quote Remarque uses shows how he can vary his tone to outline the
innocence of the soldiers patriotism. It s queer, when one thinks about it, goes on Kropp, we are here
to protect our fatherland. And the French are over there to protect their fatherland. Now

The National Organization For Women (NOW)
The following is an exploration of the interest group, the National Organization for Women (NOW).
First, this paper discusses the history of the organization and describes its foundation, categorization,
and the major political factors which inspired its founding. Second, it describes the membership and
provides suggestions for improvement with regards to benefits and membership criteria. Next, this
analysis explains the internal dynamics, the significance of influencing public policy in relation to the
organizational goals, and the governance structure. Finally, it covers the organizational ecology, which
includes information about the interest community participation and lobbying activity of the National

Subsequently, a small group of women s rights activists in attendance at the Third National
Conference of Commissions on the Status of Women, held on June 28 30 in 1966 in Washington,
D.C., grew frustrated with the inability to influence the end of sex discrimination with regards to
employment (NOW, 2011). Recognizing the public interest in the social movement which led to the
implementation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, feminist activists seized the opportunity to leverage
the momentum and apply it to their cause for women s rights. Indeed, activist Betty Friedan played a
critical role in the formation of NOW and reportedly remarked that it was the suggestion of the
commissioners and attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that an
organization be formed to advocate on behalf of women similarly to the way civil rights groups were
advocating on behalf of African Americans (NOW, 2011). With this in mind, Freidan invited a group
of like minded conference participants to her hotel room that evening for further discussion about how
to influence action on behalf of women. Additionally, Freidan is credited with writing the acronym N
O W on a paper napkin and motivating her fellow activists to band together for their cause. The
following day, the original group of twenty women gathered for lunch and recruited eight additional
women who were interested in the idea of creating a formal body to address concerns at the
conference. One of the women in the group, Analoyce Clapp, is credited with creating the first mission
statement for the group at the conference, to take action to bring women into full participation in the
mainstream of American society now, assuming all the privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly
equal partnership with men (NOW, 2011). According to the interest group categorizations by

Compare And Contrast Jazz And Hiphop
HipHop: The Grandchild of Jazz Music Hiphop is like one of the children of jazz music The one of
the famous American rappers, Nas said this. For well over a century now, jazz has been the chameleon
of American music. It has incorporated elements from classical, Latin, funk and R B. Moreover, jazz
itself has many different kinds of it, such as cool jazz, bebop, swing jazz, blues and free jazz. Some
people have said that mixture of jazz and hiphop is one of positive example of its work. On the other
hand, others have insisted that it is not and those two performance styles have such incompatible
elements. I think that jazz represents just a portion of the broader landscape of AfricanAmerican
music. Jazz and hiphop, two languages born out of AfricanAmerican ... Show more content on

From the 1960s up to today, jazz and hiphop continue to borrow and experiment with each other. They
both contain elements of improvisation. For example, in hiphop, free styling and DJing represent this,
while in jazz much of the exchange between musicians is improvised. Both constantly deal with racial
issues, finding their roots and icons in the AfricanAmerican culture, but ultimately blossomed in
diversity. Jazz emerged out of many different types of music such as slave songs, ragtime, and military
bands. Even though Jazz has evolved throughout its history, it dramatically changed during the 1930 s
and 1940 s when many AfricanAmericans migrated from southern rural communities to the urbanized
northern cities. Since AfricanAmericans were still discriminated against and oppressed by society,
their pain and suffering needed to be channeled through cultural and musical expression. Jazz, like
using improvisation, created a unique genre of music that continued the use of traditional styles of
AfricanAmerican music. Urbanized

Fine Arts Research Paper
~Arts Advocacy~ Many schools have started to remove Fine Arts programs from their curriculum,
usually for financial reasons. Fine Arts programs are vital because they provide a creative outlet for
students. Even though such classes have proven to show important benefits to students who take them,
when pay cuts have to be made, fine arts programs are the first to go. Art and music education help
students in different ways including, bettering the performance of students in other academics through
creativity, improving mental health, and teaching them skills needed in everyday life. For this reason,
teachers, parents, and students should fight to help these programs remain in schools. Students
involved in fine arts programs often develop skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This decision is detrimental to students involved in all activities, but is especially harmful for those
who are not involved in athletics or academics. These students are forced to accept the situation placed
upon them and continue in school as they did previously without the outlet that the art programs
provided. Most schools remove these programs due to financial constraints and decide that art
programs are impractical and choose them as the first program to cut. Students from Howard
University who had participated in fine arts while in school stated, I think that it is absolutely
outrageous that fine arts are the first to be cut in public schools. This says a lot about what is important
to education in America. Because math and science is what is being tested, tests that determine a
school s ranking is what is most important to the school, but the institutions ranking is not necessarily
what is in the best interest of the students as a whole person (Hawkins). Reasons for this decision
include the cost of the program. Participating in the arts often requires a large sum of money which is
used to acquire supplies that are essential in order to allow the students express themselves. Schools
have also chosen fine arts as the first to be cut because they do not accumulate as much revenue as
extracurricular activities may ( Why Schools are

Critical Information About A Patient s Plan Of Care
Specific problem requiring change and Situation description: The shift report between the off going
and oncoming nurses must include all of the critical information about a patient s plan of care. This
information must be communicated. The change of shift report that is done incorrectly can be a result
of missed information and poor communication between nurses, affecting their ability to deliver safe
and efficient care for the patients. This problem occurs not just at one but at most hospitals, where
inter shift report still continues to take place at the nursing station without inclusion or a visual of the
patient until the report is done. As I witnessed shift report in the hallways or at the nursing stations of
SCVMC of the 33 bed mother and baby unit, I noticed that at times unnecessary information is
received and critical information may not be communicated. On the other hand, at Redwood City
Kaiser neuroscience unit bedside inter shift nursing report works well and I have witnessed better
nurse patient relationship, lower incidents of falls, strong teamwork, as well as improved nurse
accountability and prioritization at the beginning of the shift. As evidence shows in the article
Improving Client and Nurse Satisfaction Through the Utilization of Bedside Report , there is a direct
correlation between the bedside report and both client and nurse satisfaction in care settings,
validating the importance of changing to bedside report (Vines, Dupler, Guido, 2014). I

Design Of An Integrated Circuit
CHAPTER 1
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Overview
Nowadays it is impossible to imagine any device where microelectronics is not present, from personal
computers through home appliances, modern society relies on the performance of integrated circuits.
It is so, that microelectronics advent has opened doors to new horizons where integrated circuits have
played an important role from the very beginning of their creation since the late 1950s, when Jack St.
Clair Kilby, a Texas Instruments Engineer, decided to change the future, conceiving the first integrated
circuit, where the components, passive as well as active, were placed over a piece of semi conductive
material (Germanium piece) that was half the size of a paper clip. The success of this element (called
chip due to its small size) containing a few transistors, resistors, and capacitors, led to the Physics
Nobel Prize for its inventor in 2000.
The design of an integrated circuit involves a development plan, where its functional characteristics
and performance will define the elaboration of the logic circuit diagram. Once the diagram is finished,
a series of simulations are executed to test the operation of the designed circuit; if no issues are
encountered, a massive production plan is implemented.
This manufacturing process has allowed the miniaturization of most of the devices used daily,
translating to lower production costs. The typical manufacturing process involves the interconnection
of the integrated circuit chips to the

Urban India is way ahead with 61.9 internet subscriptions per 100 people while rural India is
struggling with 13.7 subscriptions per 100 people. Digital disparity is so high that Delhi alone has 2.2

1.7 Awareness
Reaction is impulsive and rigorous in case of a threat. It is mild and lukewarm in case of an
opportunity. Same is the case with going cashless. Cyber security is one of the retarding factor which
can cast doubt in the mind of people, especially in those areas lagging behind in financial literacy. The
mass should be made aware of the benefits of going cashless. At the same time, they should have the
faith that their digital money is safe. India fares quite high in the United Nation s Telecommunication
Union s index of cyber security, placed in the maturing category at 23rd position out of 165 nations.
However, most of the ATMs in India still run on the outdated Windows XP which is vulnerable and
proned to cyber attacks. The case of 3.2 million debits of Yes Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC, SBI, ICICI
compromised last year makes cyber security a challenge that need to be given due importance else
people will not have the confidence to go digital.
1.8 Suggestions
1. Limit in cash withdrawal should be reinstated to restrict uncontrolled flow of cash back into the
system.
2. ATMs should be upgraded regularly to latest version of Windows.
3. Startups in smartphone sector should be encouraged by proving subsidies to local entrepreneur so
that these can be availed at reasonable price in the market which is now being dominated by the
Chinese manufacturers.
4. Projects like Bharatnet should be allocated maximum fund( an

Poverty And Natural Beauty In The Country Of Venezuela
Venezuela is a country of natural beauty and full of natural resources. Its levels of raw materials and
the diversity of its people, makes of Venezuela a beautiful country in South America and around the
world. According to the Venezuelan Government website, Venezuelan history goes back 15,000 to
5.000 years before our era. But the real history begins in the 1400s when Christopher Columbus
became the first Spanish explorer to touch the Venezuelan lands in 1498 (Oberhelman, ph2). Follow
by Spanish conquer Alonso de Ojeda who actually gave the country its name, Venezuela became
another conquered country with so much hiding treasures not known to the world yet. The country
became a must have by other European nations, including Great Britain who at that time, owned the
country of Guyana which it borders Venezuela. The Spanish conquers remained in Venezuela for more
than 300 years, and it wasn t until 1821 that a man named Simon Bolivar along with other
revolutionaries liberated Venezuela from the Spanish conquers and acquiring independence for the
country. Venezuela is a country that throughout the years has tried to become a democracy country. In
1998, Hugo Chavez was elected president of Venezuela with the intentions of making a Venezuela a
better country. His intentions were to rewrite a new constitution in order to improve the state and fight
poverty (Coronel, 2008). Years passed and Venezuela has become worst compared to what it was

Slapstick is a type of comedy that involves physical exaggeration which exceeds the boundaries of
normal physical comedy, as quoted from the free encyclopedia. This is evident where tom gets his
hands slammed brutally in the window frame and when he finally pulls them out they take the shape
of the frame, this shows slapstick comedy because it amuses the reader for a comic effect and also is
something most definitely you would not see in a normal day it goes beyond physical comedy as
quoted from the free encyclopedia.
Tom and jerry is a successful tv show for the reason of the random arrangements and stuff that you
would never see this day, this makes it different and not mainstream. But to include this in their tv
shows they had to use surrealism. Surrealism is something that you would never see in the normal
world and is completely out of this world they are disjointed ideas to weave together something
blizzar. Surrealism is used when tom is wheeling towards the door and heads straight towards the
house his sudden lurch of his body is surreal and not something you would see. Never the less it gives
it a comic effect and makes it humorous and makes the audience chacinate.
Overall the animation Tom and Jerry is a silent animated TV show that was thought of by Joseph

One type of lymphoma, which captures my attention, is Hodgkin s lymphoma. Hodgkin s particularly
affects the immune system and originates in lymphocytes, white blood cells. It has an estimated 8,260

biggest thing that attracts me to investigate Hodgkin s Lymphoma is the demographic it affects,
particular the age group. Though Hodgkin s can affect all, it most commonly occurs when a person is
in their 20s. This single fact bothers me because I feel the disease is attacking people at the start of
their life. Theoretically, that person should live for many more years and has not yet fully experienced
what the world has to offer. In short, a 20 year old diagnosed with lymphoma is being robbed of part

Anecdotal Characters Of Kidd The Catcher
A storyteller, an anecdotal character named Geoffrey Crayon, starts the story. He discloses to us that,
years prior, a couple of miles from Boston, Massachusetts, kidd the Pirate covered an incredible
measure of fortune. He made an arrangement with the fallen angel to secure the fortune, however was
never ready to come back to it, as he was caught and taken to England to be hanged as a privateer.
Substantially later, in the year 1727, a niggardly man named Tom walker lives close to the territory
with his significant other, who is similarly as cash crazed. They are not famous with their neighbors,
as they frequently battle.
In the wake of spending the day in an inaccessible piece of the area, Tom Walker takes an alternate
route back home through a marsh. He achieves a relinquished Indian fortress, and in the wake of
kicking a close by skull left finished from the Indian wars with pioneers, infuriates a tall man
shrouded in ash who had evidently been watching him. Tom understands this is the man generally
called old scartch, and after a long discussion in transit home, Old Scratch declares that he has favored
Tom and will enable him to get Kidd the Pirate s fortune on specific conditions. As a guarantee to
remain by his assertion, Old Scratch squeezes his finger into Tom s brow, leaving a dark, consumed
stamp that he calls his mark.
Tom can t resist the urge to impart the key to his significant other, who is quickly allured by the
guarantee of gold; just to repudiate her,

Characterization Of The Narrator Cathedral
Characterization of the Narrator in Cathedral In the short story Cathedral , written by Raymond
Carver, the story is told through the narrator s eyes as the audience gains insight on his perspective of
his life and, more specifically, his views on his wife and her blind friend. The narrator s name is never
mentioned throughout the story, but his personality and initial narrow minded bias towards his wife s
friend Robert depicts his character traits. Throughout the story he does not seem to change his views,
but once he experiences Robert s point of view in his life, the narrator changes his perspective. This
suggests the narrator is a dynamic character in the story due to his change after getting to know
Robert. The story opens with the narrator giving a background of his wife and Robert. Immediately, it
is easy for the audience to form a negative opinion about the narrator. Within the first paragraph of the
story he says, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered
me (Carver 33). This exemplifies his pre formed opinion about Robert even though he hardly knows
anything about him. He clearly is uncomfortable with the fact that Robert is blind, mainly based on his
lack of exposure to people with disabilities. The narrator is very narrow minded for most of this story,
making it easy to initially dislike him. As the story progresses, the narrator appears incredibly cynical
about nearly everything that is going on around

Education Is Not An Obligation
Education is a privilege not an obligation. Being blessed with the opportunity to apply for college, let
alone go to college, is something some kids never get to see. Getting a degree is important because it
is a gift only a small portion of the population has access to. Being able to grow academically as well
as spiritually, physically, and emotional are just a few of the many benefits. It is my aspiration to
attend the university of my dream and be changed into a better version of myself through the process
of graduation; however, before that can happen, I must decide which school is right for me. When I
first started to research colleges, I came across LSU, Louisiana State University, a large school with
about 26, 156 undergraduates located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (www.collegeboard.com). Due to the
fact, my family was originally from Louisiana, LSU was a household name for me. Though I was
familiar with the university, I came to realize I actually knew very little about the majors it offered as
well as many other important factoids. For instance, I was completely oblivious to their very high
admission rate as well as their fairly low SAT and ACT entrance scores. While most colleges have a

Sivi and I have spent a lot of time talking with, and taking care of Senior Citizens on a volunteer basis.
Through many conversations, we discovered that one of the major regrets that people have, as the near

major reason for this was fear. Fear that they would fail or fear that they might be injured. Sivi ...

Our group s task was to master the skill of jumping into a gravel pit from the top of a 4 foot platform
and rolling gently to one side, thus minimizing the force of the contact. Our instructor, a young man of
about 30, demonstrated just how easy this was. He also explained that at the end of our real jump we
could possibly hit the ground at a fairly high speed and that only by mastering this rolling technique
would we be able to avoid breaking an ankle, a leg, or even worse.
With this dire message still ringing in our ears, we proceeded to line up, one behind the other, and
jump into the gravel pit. Sivi was first and did just fine. When it was my turn, I felt pretty confident
because of my past athletic experience. Unfortunately, this past experience did me very little good. I

The Athletics Team Level Of Sport Competition Essay
West Rimrock University a small, private, liberal arts university in the United States. In the past, the
university was known for having a very large scale master s degree program as well as offering
doctoral degrees. They also were well known for their athletics department; the university once
compete at a NCAA Division I level offering all of their student athletes full aid scholarships and
grants. Their most successful teams on campus were their tennis teams, winning multiple national
titles and defeating other very impressive schools. The other teams however, were competing at high
levels but not like the tennis teams. In 1972, the Educational Amendment Title IX was passed leaving
the school with some hard decisions to be made in regards to how they spend their money. Keeping
the athletics teams at Division I was going to be expensive so by 1973, all but the men and women s
tennis teams were going to move to NCAA Division III, a non scholarship level of sport competition.
After the decision was made, the athletics department suffered a huge loss of participation due to the
students feeling like they weren t getting anything out of being a part of the team without the
scholarship. When Dr. Gentry Cook was hired as the new president of the university in 1979 he made
it clear from the start that he wanted to have an equal balance of having a very strong academically
focused university as well as having a phenomenal athletics department to keep up the school spirit.

horrible death of Madame de Villefort and her child. The interest is frittered away in endless details
and episodes (Saintsbury 1). I agree that Dumas was far too generous in his descriptions and often
times these descriptions eliminated all sort of mystery or suspense in certain events. In fact, many of
the events that were supposed to be suspenseful were drowned out by massive amounts of words to
describe one scene. The depiction of Villefort s apartment was written as, in order to call Edouard, he
had to awaken the echoes of that apartment transformed into a coffin; to speak was to violate the
silence of the tomb (Dumas 483). the description of the apartment does provide a sense of creepiness,
but the sheer circumlocution takes away from the overall feeling of terror and suspense. However,
even without suspense, the novel still maintained my interest as vivid images of the scenes were still
available rather than being replaced with something vague. Saintsbury suggests that the dangerous
method of introducing long recitals by various characters in order to help on the movement and join
the intrigue is unscrupulously resorted to [in the novel] (Saintsbury 1). The perfect example is when

Slavery Or Enslaved Objects Fit Right Into The Discourses...
In my opinion, slavery or enslaved objects fit right into the discourses of modernity. Paul Gilroy
quoted Hegel in The Black Atlantic. This condition is capable of no development or Culture, and as
we see them at this day, such they have always been (Gilroy 41). That is saying that blacks never have
or will contribute to anything in the world. That was another reason for slave owners to treat slaves
like the scum on the bottom of their shoe. If blacks aren t doing anything to benefit us in any type of
way, what s the point of treating them like human beings? That s probably how slave owners thought
and they had a reason. If blacks weren t getting any credit for anything and all the credit has been and
will always be given to the whites, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blacks always found themselves resisting physical, political and economic domination. For that
specific reason, Gilroy argues that nation as an organizing historical principal lacks accuracy because
it only shows the negative side of everything. Gilroy shows how it is represented in black music. This
fundamental dislocation of black culture is especially important in recent history of black musics
which, produced out of racial slavery which made modern western civilization possible, now dominate
its popular cultures (Gilroy 80).
Du Bois agrees with Gilroy about the sorrow songs. In The Souls of Black Folk Du Bois thinks that
sorrow songs are a show of the achievements of African descendants in America. The songs have been
passed down from generation to generation. The songs are just like their composers, have been
polished by the fires of American slavery, inequality, and cruelty. These songs are the music of an
unhappy people, and the creations of children of disappointment; and yet, they are also prayers which
breathe hope and a faith in the ultimate justice of things (Du Bois 157). The sorrow songs are a way
for slaves to speak to the world in their own special way.
Du Bois begins every single chapter with a piece of religious music. That in itself shows how
important the sorrow songs are. Slaves intentionally hold on to their troubles to use as motivation for
overcoming future obstacles. Sorrow songs are the greatest

Matching human resources with the present and the future is one of the main problems faced by an

Riordan Manufacturing Hardware and Software Introduction One of the top priorities at Riordan and
many other businesses is guarding against loss, theft, and waste of the company assets. According to
Bagranoff, Simkin Strand protecting these assets means an organization must focus on developing and
implementing an internal control system. Further, the internal control system must also be capable of
performing other functions like assisting in ensuring data processing is dependable and encouraging

At this level risked are analyzed and solutions are implemented to prevent problems. When the
preventive control has failed a detective control is implemented. This control is designed to uncover
an undesired problem that has transpired (Dunn, et al, 2004). The third control is the corrective
control, which is designed to restore a system to an approved or last known good state. A company
usually establishes corrective controls to remedy problems that are discovered by the detective
controls. One advisable procedure that can be implemented for this control is establishing training
programs that educate employees about how to use the new automated system that can help them
perform their job functions more efficiently and effectively. It is imperative to understand that for the
integration, any control strategy has to be tailored to address the risks to objectives that management
identifies as unacceptable. The objective should be detecting risks that are materially threatening the
goals of the organization and reducing them to the point that management is more willing to accept.
Generated Reports The reports that need to be generated in an automated system are customer orders,

A Self Care Plan to Prevent Compassion Fatigue
A Plan For Self Care Against Compassion Fatigue

Introduction
Working in the helping field has its many joys and privileges. Seeing a child, whose self esteem is at
the bottom, light up when he/she accomplishes a new task, see the growth an alcohol and drug addict
has made in treatment, or to see the family, that when they entered the door of your office, was on the
verge of separation, but now are communicating and working out their own needs with little assistance

Another preventative step for the social worker is to seek out individual therapy for himself as a
manner in which to deal with the stressors associated with the helping profession. This has been
highly recommended by several instructors during my masters level education.
When I consider the risk factors discussed, I find that my weight and overall physical health are most
significant in placing me at risk of compassion fatigue. Failing to have a nutritious diet has caused an
increase in weight and multiple lower level health needs such as back pains and headaches. When you
factor this in with the stress of working a full time job and being a full time student, it compounds the
problem as eating tends to be my coping mechanism of choice. I also have minimal intimate
friendships due to lack of time to engage with others outside the workplace. A lack of these intimate
relationships fails to provide me an outlet to the stress that is outside my family. Given the source of
the stress is at work, confidentiality limits what I can and cannot say to my wife.
With those risk factors, two protective factors that I see benefiting me is my spiritual support system
and sense of strong professional boundaries. My faith has pulled me through so much. Having a solid
foundation in my faith has allowed me to always return to what it is that I believe and remember that it
is my relationship with

Bootstrap Approach On Data Sampling Essay
Bootstrap Approach in Data Sampling
As shown in the previous chapter, the basic samples of data needed to calculate the confidence
intervals have distributions which depart from the traditional parametric distributions. Thus, classical
hypothesis testing procedures based on strong parametric assumptions cannot be used to estimate the
confidence intervals. In order to obtain results as reliable as possible, a statistical technique which is
applicable regardless of the form of the data probability density function has to be utilized. In other
words, this method should make no assumption about the different data distributions. One good
candidate is the bootstrap method.
The idea about bootstrapping is that we don t have enough data. To illustrate this technique, we
consider a clothing shop selling second clothing. In a week, sales per day varies with day. The second
week analysis also, shows a different trend to first week. As a business owner, one would like to
determine the customer behaviour and pattern so that planning can be done effectively to ensure
customer satisfaction. Therefore, an average or mean sales need to be determine for the first week.
This is done by taking resample data from the main data sample, which will produce a distribution
sample as indicated in (a) and (b) for week 2. The t test statistical analysis will not be the reasonable
method to determine the resalable mean value since it will recognise both (a) and (b) as normal
distribution, thus giving a

cope. Using alcohol, I believe the bottle took all his inhibitions away and allowed him to do as he
pleased without judging himself. I think there are moments of soberness when he stopped painting and
took a step back and looked at his creations. I believe in these moments he would sit pondering or
rethinking why he did what he did. He would start to feel whatever emotion and he would then pick
up another color and try to make an amends with his own creations. It seems maddening for this
behavior but it shows this in his art. It seems this madness went on and on until there was no more
resolution for him, he would then abruptly stop. After more drinking I think he would start a new
painting. This could be the reasoning as to why we see some of his last paintings, looking so dreary in
color and lack of rhythm. The paintings which have vibrant colors are when he was at peace with who
he was as a person. I do not care for all of his paintings. Some of the paintings do look like someone

What Is The Theme Of The Ultimate Safari
The experiences of a young girl and her family as they are relocated the height of war are chronicled
in Nadine Gordimer s The Ultimate Safari . Set during the incredibly turbulent time of the Apartheid
in South Africa, this short story addresses the issue of racial divide within a single area. Throughout
the text, the author makes use of parallels between black people and animals, and white people and
hunters, as well as variations on use of the word ultimate in the text to illustrate the schism between
the rich Caucasians and the poor black people, making apparent through this the inferiority of the
latter.

The narrator and her companions are still treated similarly to animals, though undoubtedly in a more
humane manner than they were previously. Tended to by the area s existing citizens, a population of
Caucasian people, they are medically treated, housed in a tent, and are slowly integrated into their new
home, in the same way that a domesticated animal usually is. They have not forgotten the country that
they had originally come from, though. Similarly, it is in the nature of animals to want to return to
their territory, their original habitat. Though the family and the rest of their companions are accepted
by the existing villagers in the area and have integrated fairly well into society, some kind of an air of
fascination seems to continue hanging about them. Still a somewhat of a curiosity to white people,
they are photographed and questioned through the use of an interpreter for a film. This scene in
particular, in the way the white people interact with the narrator s family, evokes thoughts of a zoo, if
not of a lab experiment, situations wherein animals are observed as oddities, a species almost alien to
us and our understanding. In a similar way to the scene in the text, it is not uncommon for people

I believed that Big Hero 6 stands out from all the other Disney movies as from my evaluation through
the movie made me notice that it s characters were mostly all centered around smart human beings.
However, due to this, Disney still used a well known cliche as they still have at least one dumb
character mostly for comedic purposes. Another well known cliche in Disney movies that is seen in
Big Hero 6, is how at least one person dies in the movie whether it be during the movie, or in the
introduction. Many Disney movies play out like this to create/develop a conflict, but however it is
later resolved with a happy ending where all the characters achieve a particular goal or solve the
conflict. But most movies aimed towards kids will always have a happy ending, as they don t want to
end on a sour note. In my analysis of Big Hero 6, I saw that symbolism was conveyed throughout the
movie. One notable example, came at the expense of Tadashi, Hiro s brother, as he sacrifices his life to
try to save Callaghan. The loss of Tadashi consumes Hiro s will to learn/create or to even leave his

Ransom By David Malouf Analysis
Grief can play with one s mind twisting and manipulating one to not be the same person they used to
be, while grief can also change one for the better. In the book, Ransom, by David Malouf, Hector kills
Achilles friend, Patroclus, so Achilles kills Hector. Priam wants to see his son one last time so he
makes a plan to get to him. Somax takes Priam on a carriage to go find his son Hector. They have
some troubles along the way, but they eventually get to Priam s son. Priam brings Hector back to Troy
and Hector is buried. In Ransom by David Malouf, the author teaches the reader the power of grief
through the experiences of Priam and Achilles. Grief can be a controlling force, it can cause and
individual to change as a person, and grief can strongly influence one s actions. The sorrow from the
loss of a loved can be burdensome and can take a toll on one and their family. Priam explains to
Hecuba, It is eleven days now since Hector s death and we have done nothing, all of us, but weep and
sit stunned with grief (Malouf 50). Priam s family is depressed over the loss of their son Hector. It
controls their emotions and the way they think of their life now, moving on without Hector. While
Priam is talking with Deiphobus, Priam lowers his head. When he raises it again his look is grave but
his eyes, for all the power of emotion in him are dry (Malouf 84). Priam is having a difficult time
coming to terms that Hector is actually gone, so he is overcome with multiple emotions.

  • 2. Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Erich Maria... World War I was a global war that originated in Europe and lasted from July 1914 to November 1918. Two writers that described their feelings during the war were Erich Maria Remarque, who wrote All Quiet on the Western Front, and Edward Thomas, who wrote This is no case of petty right or wrong . While Thomas uses metaphors and an aggravated tone to reveal why patriotism is more beneficial than nationalism in his poem, Remarque more effectively presents this theme through his more extensive use of specific metaphors, accusatory word choice, and emotional tone in his novel. As an example, Remarque is superior in the metaphors that he uses to describe the war and its negative impacts, thus making a more effective argument for patriotism and against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Thomas uses We love ourselves as we hate her foe (Thomas 26). Thomas does not hate other countries more than he loves England. This shows the distinction between his view and nationalism, where Thomas would hate other countries more than he loves his. Thus, the reason why he wants to protect England is so that he can protect his own freedom. Remarque, on the other hand, has much stronger tone and word choice, which makes it more clear that Remarque is patriotic while also differentiating himself from the nationalist point of view. We loved our country as much as they; we went courageously into every action; but also we distinguished the false from the true, we had suddenly learned to see (Remarque 26). Here, courageously is referencing the fact that many of the soldiers were patriotic indeed, but the nationalist propaganda that authority was feeding them was fake. Thus, the soldiers are now able to see the amount of destruction that the nationalism had caused. Therefore, unlike Thomas, Remarque is able to add more depth about how others felt during the war to his arguments. Another quote Remarque uses shows how he can vary his tone to outline the innocence of the soldiers patriotism. It s queer, when one thinks about it, goes on Kropp, we are here to protect our fatherland. And the French are over there to protect their fatherland. Now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The National Organization For Women (NOW) The following is an exploration of the interest group, the National Organization for Women (NOW). Second, it describes the membership and provides suggestions for improvement with regards to benefits and membership criteria. Finally, it covers the organizational ecology, which includes information about the interest community participation and lobbying activity of the National Organization for Women Political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Subsequently, a small group of women s rights activists in attendance at the Third National Conference of Commissions on the Status of Women, held on June 28 30 in 1966 in Washington, D.C., grew frustrated with the inability to influence the end of sex discrimination with regards to employment (NOW, 2011). Recognizing the public interest in the social movement which led to the implementation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, feminist activists seized the opportunity to leverage the momentum and apply it to their cause for women s rights. Indeed, activist Betty Friedan played a critical role in the formation of NOW and reportedly remarked that it was the suggestion of the commissioners and attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that an organization be formed to advocate on behalf of women similarly to the way civil rights groups were advocating on behalf of African Americans (NOW, 2011). With this in mind, Freidan invited a group of like minded conference participants to her hotel room that evening for further discussion about how to influence action on behalf of women. Additionally, Freidan is credited with writing the acronym N O W on a paper napkin and motivating her fellow activists to band together for their cause. The following day, the original group of twenty women gathered for lunch and recruited eight additional women who were interested in the idea of creating a formal body to address concerns at the conference. One of the women in the group, Analoyce Clapp, is credited with creating the first mission statement for the group at the conference, to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, assuming all the privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men (NOW, 2011). • 4. Compare And Contrast Jazz And Hiphop HipHop: The Grandchild of Jazz Music Hiphop is like one of the children of jazz music The one of the famous American rappers, Nas said this. For well over a century now, jazz has been the chameleon of American music. It has incorporated elements from classical, Latin, funk and R B. Moreover, jazz itself has many different kinds of it, such as cool jazz, bebop, swing jazz, blues and free jazz. Some people have said that mixture of jazz and hiphop is one of positive example of its work. On the other hand, others have insisted that it is not and those two performance styles have such incompatible elements. From the 1960s up to today, jazz and hiphop continue to borrow and experiment with each other. They both contain elements of improvisation. For example, in hiphop, free styling and DJing represent this, while in jazz much of the exchange between musicians is improvised. Both constantly deal with racial issues, finding their roots and icons in the AfricanAmerican culture, but ultimately blossomed in diversity. Jazz emerged out of many different types of music such as slave songs, ragtime, and military bands. Even though Jazz has evolved throughout its history, it dramatically changed during the 1930 s and 1940 s when many AfricanAmericans migrated from southern rural communities to the urbanized northern cities. Since AfricanAmericans were still discriminated against and oppressed by society, their pain and suffering needed to be channeled through cultural and musical expression. Jazz, like using improvisation, created a unique genre of music that continued the use of traditional styles of AfricanAmerican music. Urbanized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fine Arts programs are vital because they provide a creative outlet for students. Even though such classes have proven to show important benefits to students who take them, when pay cuts have to be made, fine arts programs are the first to go. Art and music education help students in different ways including, bettering the performance of students in other academics through creativity, improving mental health, and teaching them skills needed in everyday life. These students are forced to accept the situation placed upon them and continue in school as they did previously without the outlet that the art programs provided. Most schools remove these programs due to financial constraints and decide that art programs are impractical and choose them as the first program to cut. Students from Howard University who had participated in fine arts while in school stated, I think that it is absolutely outrageous that fine arts are the first to be cut in public schools. This says a lot about what is important to education in America. Because math and science is what is being tested, tests that determine a school s ranking is what is most important to the school, but the institutions ranking is not necessarily what is in the best interest of the students as a whole person (Hawkins). Reasons for this decision include the cost of the program. Participating in the arts often requires a large sum of money which is used to acquire supplies that are essential in order to allow the students express themselves. Schools have also chosen fine arts as the first to be cut because they do not accumulate as much revenue as extracurricular activities may ( Why Schools are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critical Information About A Patient s Plan Of Care Specific problem requiring change and Situation description: The shift report between the off going and oncoming nurses must include all of the critical information about a patient s plan of care. This information must be communicated. The change of shift report that is done incorrectly can be a result of missed information and poor communication between nurses, affecting their ability to deliver safe and efficient care for the patients. This problem occurs not just at one but at most hospitals, where inter shift report still continues to take place at the nursing station without inclusion or a visual of the patient until the report is done. As I witnessed shift report in the hallways or at the nursing stations of SCVMC of the 33 bed mother and baby unit, I noticed that at times unnecessary information is received and critical information may not be communicated. On the other hand, at Redwood City Kaiser neuroscience unit bedside inter shift nursing report works well and I have witnessed better nurse patient relationship, lower incidents of falls, strong teamwork, as well as improved nurse accountability and prioritization at the beginning of the shift. • 8. Design Of An Integrated Circuit CHAPTER 1 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Overview Nowadays it is impossible to imagine any device where microelectronics is not present, from personal computers through home appliances, modern society relies on the performance of integrated circuits. It is so, that microelectronics advent has opened doors to new horizons where integrated circuits have played an important role from the very beginning of their creation since the late 1950s, when Jack St. Clair Kilby, a Texas Instruments Engineer, decided to change the future, conceiving the first integrated circuit, where the components, passive as well as active, were placed over a piece of semi conductive material (Germanium piece) that was half the size of a paper clip. The success of this element (called chip due to its small size) containing a few transistors, resistors, and capacitors, led to the Physics Nobel Prize for its inventor in 2000. The design of an integrated circuit involves a development plan, where its functional characteristics and performance will define the elaboration of the logic circuit diagram. Once the diagram is finished, a series of simulations are executed to test the operation of the designed circuit; if no issues are encountered, a massive production plan is implemented. This manufacturing process has allowed the miniaturization of most of the devices used daily, translating to lower production costs. The typical manufacturing process involves the interconnection of the integrated circuit chips to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Characterization Of The Narrator Cathedral Characterization of the Narrator in Cathedral In the short story Cathedral , written by Raymond Carver, the story is told through the narrator s eyes as the audience gains insight on his perspective of his life and, more specifically, his views on his wife and her blind friend. The narrator s name is never mentioned throughout the story, but his personality and initial narrow minded bias towards his wife s friend Robert depicts his character traits. Throughout the story he does not seem to change his views, but once he experiences Robert s point of view in his life, the narrator changes his perspective. This suggests the narrator is a dynamic character in the story due to his change after getting to know Robert. The story opens with the narrator giving a background of his wife and Robert. Immediately, it is easy for the audience to form a negative opinion about the narrator. Within the first paragraph of the story he says, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me (Carver 33). This exemplifies his pre formed opinion about Robert even though he hardly knows anything about him. He clearly is uncomfortable with the fact that Robert is blind, mainly based on his lack of exposure to people with disabilities. In fact, many of the events that were supposed to be suspenseful were drowned out by massive amounts of words to describe one scene. The depiction of Villefort s apartment was written as, in order to call Edouard, he had to awaken the echoes of that apartment transformed into a coffin; to speak was to violate the silence of the tomb (Dumas 483). the description of the apartment does provide a sense of creepiness, but the sheer circumlocution takes away from the overall feeling of terror and suspense. If blacks aren t doing anything to benefit us in any type of way, what s the point of treating them like human beings? That s probably how slave owners thought and they had a reason. Gilroy shows how it is represented in black music. This fundamental dislocation of black culture is especially important in recent history of black musics which, produced out of racial slavery which made modern western civilization possible, now dominate its popular cultures (Gilroy 80). Du Bois agrees with Gilroy about the sorrow songs. In The Souls of Black Folk Du Bois thinks that sorrow songs are a show of the achievements of African descendants in America. The songs have been passed down from generation to generation. The songs are just like their composers, have been polished by the fires of American slavery, inequality, and cruelty. These songs are the music of an unhappy people, and the creations of children of disappointment; and yet, they are also prayers which breathe hope and a faith in the ultimate justice of things (Du Bois 157). The sorrow songs are a way for slaves to speak to the world in their own special way. Du Bois begins every single chapter with a piece of religious music. Riordan Manufacturing – Hardware and Software Riordan Manufacturing Hardware and Software Introduction One of the top priorities at Riordan and many other businesses is guarding against loss, theft, and waste of the company assets. According to Bagranoff, Simkin Strand protecting these assets means an organization must focus on developing and implementing an internal control system. Further, the internal control system must also be capable of performing other functions like assisting in ensuring data processing is dependable and encouraging operational efficiency within the business (2008, p. 240). The third control is the corrective control, which is designed to restore a system to an approved or last known good state. A company usually establishes corrective controls to remedy problems that are discovered by the detective controls. One advisable procedure that can be implemented for this control is establishing training programs that educate employees about how to use the new automated system that can help them perform their job functions more efficiently and effectively. It is imperative to understand that for the integration, any control strategy has to be tailored to address the risks to objectives that management identifies as unacceptable. The objective should be detecting risks that are materially threatening the goals of the organization and reducing them to the point that management is more willing to accept. Generated Reports The reports that need to be generated in an automated system are customer orders, purchase requisitions, labor requests, and general reports. Seeing a child, whose self esteem is at the bottom, light up when he/she accomplishes a new task, see the growth an alcohol and drug addict has made in treatment, or to see the family, that when they entered the door of your office, was on the verge of separation, but now are communicating and working out their own needs with little assistance from you, their therapist, is some of the most rewarding moments one can experience. Another preventative step for the social worker is to seek out individual therapy for himself as a manner in which to deal with the stressors associated with the helping profession. This has been highly recommended by several instructors during my masters level education. When I consider the risk factors discussed, I find that my weight and overall physical health are most significant in placing me at risk of compassion fatigue. Failing to have a nutritious diet has caused an increase in weight and multiple lower level health needs such as back pains and headaches. When you factor this in with the stress of working a full time job and being a full time student, it compounds the problem as eating tends to be my coping mechanism of choice. I also have minimal intimate friendships due to lack of time to engage with others outside the workplace. A lack of these intimate relationships fails to provide me an outlet to the stress that is outside my family. Given the source of the stress is at work, confidentiality limits what I can and cannot say to my wife. With those risk factors, two protective factors that I see benefiting me is my spiritual support system and sense of strong professional boundaries. My faith has pulled me through so much. • 29. Bootstrap Approach On Data Sampling Essay Bootstrap Approach in Data Sampling As shown in the previous chapter, the basic samples of data needed to calculate the confidence intervals have distributions which depart from the traditional parametric distributions. Thus, classical hypothesis testing procedures based on strong parametric assumptions cannot be used to estimate the confidence intervals. In order to obtain results as reliable as possible, a statistical technique which is applicable regardless of the form of the data probability density function has to be utilized. In other words, this method should make no assumption about the different data distributions. One good candidate is the bootstrap method. The idea about bootstrapping is that we don t have enough data. To illustrate this technique, we consider a clothing shop selling second clothing. In a week, sales per day varies with day. The second week analysis also, shows a different trend to first week. As a business owner, one would like to determine the customer behaviour and pattern so that planning can be done effectively to ensure customer satisfaction. Therefore, an average or mean sales need to be determine for the first week. This is done by taking resample data from the main data sample, which will produce a distribution sample as indicated in (a) and (b) for week 2. The t test statistical analysis will not be the reasonable method to determine the resalable mean value since it will recognise both (a) and (b) as normal distribution, thus giving a ... Using alcohol, I believe the bottle took all his inhibitions away and allowed him to do as he pleased without judging himself. I think there are moments of soberness when he stopped painting and took a step back and looked at his creations. I believe in these moments he would sit pondering or rethinking why he did what he did. He would start to feel whatever emotion and he would then pick up another color and try to make an amends with his own creations. It seems maddening for this behavior but it shows this in his art. It seems this madness went on and on until there was no more resolution for him, he would then abruptly stop. After more drinking I think he would start a new painting. This could be the reasoning as to why we see some of his last paintings, looking so dreary in color and lack of rhythm. Another well known cliche in Disney movies that is seen in Big Hero 6, is how at least one person dies in the movie whether it be during the movie, or in the introduction. Many Disney movies play out like this to create/develop a conflict, but however it is later resolved with a happy ending where all the characters achieve a particular goal or solve the conflict. But most movies aimed towards kids will always have a happy ending, as they don t want to end on a sour note. In my analysis of Big Hero 6, I saw that symbolism was conveyed throughout the movie.
