Privatized Nursing Homes
Quality of life is elusive. Quality of life is complicated, multi faceted, and subjective.
Conventional ways of measuring it have emerged, mostly in terms of access to technology, level
of fulfillment of basic needs, etc. Certainly it is very difficult to have a high quality of life
without having a consistent or stable source of food for your family or yourself. But in the end,
the question of defining quality of life seems to be, unavoidably, self determined. In addition the
quality of nursing homes and long term care is determined by privatized companies who end goal
is to make profits. In LTC and nursing homes it is advertised that, every department is involved in
implementing quality management to offer the best quality of service;... Show more content on

If as Canadian we recognized the kind of active state presence in LTC that we see reflected in the
framing of Medicare, we would identify the related elements in LTC. This would be done by
ensuring citizens the access to basic levels of services by federal intervention to ensure
reasonable outcomes. Attention to policy is key in order to assure access and rights of LTC
services. Like the right to choose physicians, or accommodating the different special needs of old
people and protect their rights. Aronson and Neysmith the authors of The Retreat of the State and
Long Term Care Provision suggest bring a more active government into the policy making in
Canada. Although this can be challenging it presence social development which is presented in
European policy making. The authors stress the importance of voicing alternative measurements in
LTC to better provide greater security and equality in policies which is affecting a larger number
of Canadian citizens and those who care for them. By providing education and alternative methods
of understanding, this provides challenging methods to provide better security and equality to
future of Canada social security. A quote from the World Health Organization, A society that treats
its most vulnerable members with compassion is a more just and caring society for all is a
powerful quote that can reflect the way Canada is viewed in the future if nothing is

Western Civilization Influence
The concept of the West began after the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire declined for
its division between the Eastern, and the Western Rome which occurred in 285 A.D. After the fall
of Rome, the literature, its art, history, and technology were scattered and was lost near the western
part of the empire. This scattering of lost history made the formation of a new West Empire.
Christianity and Roman Catholicism played a dominant role in the shaping of the Western. There
are three major parts that influenced and helped the development of the Western Civilization which
is Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Mesopotamia heavily influenced the
development of western civilization, by their organized shaped communities. Many historians
traced the roots western civilization back to the land area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
Having land between rivers allowed a surplus of food from farming, engineering advances, such as
the construction of canals, dams, drains, and the Sumerians and Babylonians could build large
cities. This land was known to be Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia was the West first enormous societal
structure and system. The western based the first cultures which were originated from the
Mesopotamia region, which shows how Mesopotamian cultures provided a great influence on the
West. It became to be recognized as the cradle of civilization . The development of the wheel, the

The Importance Of An Advisor To The President
If I was an advisor to The President, I would make several suggests that I feel would be able to be
taken into consideration or perhaps even used. Even though, the way that I feel about the current
president of the United States may change how I would express myself and advise him on the
current situation which we are facing today. First, being The President of the United Statesis and
should be valued as a great honor and privilege, you are measured superior to all. You are
supposed to be making the best decisions for all. The country you are running is and also your

Normally, if a President has an issues or needs to make a statement this is not the way it is gone
about. I have never seen a president who has time to take to twitter when wanting to address things.
There are comments that were being made by Trump that have made matters worse. He needs to
try to be more of a solution then create more of a problem. Americans are already faced with trying
times.
Trump has stated during his speech in Alabama wouldn t you love to see one of these NFL
owners, when somebody disrespect our flag, to say get that son of a b****** off the field right
now. He s fired. He s fired. (Trump 2016) After, Trump made this statement more football player

address the citizens of the U.S, and this way that you decided to voice yourself is not the best way.
Not everyone is disagreeing with the way President Trump handles the issues that we are facing. I
think that these players are standing together in what they believe in and knowing what is not right
and continues to get worse with the system working against certain people. Numerous foreign born
individuals have been convicted or implicated in terrorism related crimes since September 11, 2001,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electoral System
The Oxford Dictionary (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2016) defines an election as a formal and
organised choice by vote of a person for a political office or other position . This is the same in all
democratic countries, however, no two countries have the exact same procedure for carrying out
elections. There are many ways in which electionscan differ from state to state, for example, does
the entire population have the same choice of people to vote for or is the voting based on
constituencies, or are people voting for individuals or a whole party. The variation between them
lies within the electoral systems employed in each of these countries. Electoral systems are simply
the rules of elections and how they are conducted. The electoral system affects the type and level of
interaction between politicians and constituents (PR STV and localism in Irish politics, 2011).
In Ireland, since gaining independence in 1922, representatives of DГЎil Eireann have been elected
by proportional representation by single transferable vote (Gallagher, 2016). In 1937 it was set out
in Bunreacht na hEireann that Dail Eireann shall be composed of members who represent
constituencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This representation can sometimes mean a member of the DГЎil prioritises the good of their own
local people instead of what is best for the state. Candidates in the general election have to make
certain promises to their community in the hopes of being elected and if elected have to do their
best to ensure they will be re elected by keeping their supporters content. This may not seem like
such a negative effect at first but it can result in a parliament, weakened by its members lack of
focus on national issues, and thereby unable to fully hold the government to account (PR STV and

A Interview About A Former Florida Atlantic University...
As I reflect on my life, I can t imagine my life without sports. Sports is my passion and the one
thing that keeps me sane and happy. This assignment has showed me the love I have for sports
and how it consumes my whole life. My whole life revolves around it. As I am sitting down
writing this paper, I am listening to an interview about a former Florida Atlantic University
football player who is now dealing with life after the NFL. His name is Christian Milstead, a
2015 Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduate. After the 2015 NFL draft, Milstead was
invited to take part of the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, he wasn t one of
the 300 people who made it on a NFL roster. Milstead, however, life is going great. Of course, he
would love to be playing on Sundays, but he is enjoying life as a Personal Trainer Director for
one of LA Fitness locations in South Florida. I thought coming out of college I would working
for a network or an organization as a sports reporter. Seven months later, I am still trying to
adjust to life as a teacher. Every day I miss waking up every morning to go and report on FAU. I
was a sports director for FAU s student media outlet OwlTV and I was more of a sideline reporter
than a director. I enjoyed reporting about the football players trying to get to the next level which
was the NFL or former NBA veteran Michael Curry attempting to bring success to the men s
basketball program. Since April, I have put down the microphone, mainly

she reveals she may be getting a divorce (7/20). Sonny sees Kristina kissing Parker (7/22) and
they have a heart to heart about her sexual orientation (7/26).When Alexis confronts and reminds
Parker that she has no long term intentions with Kristina (7/26), she sends a Dear John letter (7

Parker tells Kristina she s going back to her wife, proving Alexis right (8/25). Molly (Haley Pullos)

My Commentary: The downward spiral of JuLexis was exciting, entertaining and fascinating, and
anytime Grahn is given sordid material it s a good day because she slays it, but it was also another

Integrity And Integrity
What keeps the society we live in secure? Why are we, as a people, able to coexist in nations,
unified under one banner? By what invisible barrier do humans band together and live as one? The
answer is integrity. Morals alone cannot encompass what bonds us, nor honesty or fidelity. It is the
combination of the three that can summarize that barrier that holds all together. Integrityis not only a
venerative virtue, but a necessity for all sentient beings. It is, in its basest form, a strong loyalty to
and the virtuous enforcement of ones mortality. When expanded, it encompasses the bonds of
loyalty between humans, the connection between man and country, follower and leader, husband
and wife. Between father and son, and all other mutual bonds... Show more content on

Friendship, love, compassion, empathy, and many others that any person is constructed of. These
bonds between all people beget loyalty. As unclear as the bonds between morality and loyalty can
be without integrity, the connection between people only widens the gap of common
understanding. Where loyalty to morality meets, so does loyalty to bonds. They are very similar, in
that without loyalty, for either one, one cannot have integrity. It may be that one has a friend, but
are they willing to defend them? Are they willing to fight for them, to sacrifice something for them?
These are the questions that must be asked to temper these connections, to either emerge brittle or
strengthened. Without loyalty there can be no true integrity, and without integrity, morals and
bonds become weakened, sapped of all conviction and truth. Integrity is the lifeblood of
democracy. Deceit is a poison in its veins. Edward Kennedy. The system of democracy works only
on the basis of loyalty, morality, and the bonds created between humans. It truly is a great test of the
integrity of the

The Differences between Command Economies and Free Market...
The Differences between Command Economies and Free Market Economies
The prime difference between command economies and free market economies is the method used
to answer the three central questions of what, for whom, and how? Each of these questions relates
to production.
In a free market economy, the answers to these questions are decided by the consumer and overseen
by a government that practices a laissez faire economic policy. Production is decided on a supply
and demand basis resulting in a capitalist society. This happens due to the dispersion of wealth
throughout an economy, the richest dictating which products should be produced due to their own
demands, and the poorest having little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of economy works in the private sector of business ie. Individual firms.
A command economy is an entirely different system in which a central government decides how to
answer the three central economic questions. The government would decide what is to be
produced, how it is to be priced etc. resulting in a far more communist state. This obviously gives
the government a far more autocratic role in their economic policy in contrast to the free market
economy. Products are designed with the incentive to meet consumer needs rather than to meet the
wants of the richest. This way is far more practical towards ensureing the production of necessary
goods. This type of economy works under the public sector everything is funded and controlled by
the central government.
Discuss Whether there are Lessons to be Learned Between the Two Systems
No economic system will ever work flawlessly so it is undoubtable that these two systems would
be able to adapt to become more practical. For one example, in the free market economy, there
have often been problems with failure to produce medicines that are seen bt medical companies to
be unprofitable but that are ncessary to public health. At this point, it would be wise to adopt a
more command economy in which it can be assessed which medicines are needed and

Women Seeing the World through a Different Lens in Three...
At the time Virginia Woolf wrote The Years and Three Guineas, there were many differences
between men and women, one of which was education. Most women were not educated, which
prevented them from entering into agency. Women allowed themselves to be played by history. In
order for them to change a worldthat was dominated by men, women needed to refuse what
history said was their essence, and rather, use that essence to create critical ways of being in the
world. The photograph, a crudely colored photograph of your world as it appears to us who see it
from the threshold of the private house; through the shadow of the veil that St. Paul still lays upon
your eyes; from the bridge which connects the private house with the world of... Show more content

Therefore, women believed that they had no choice other than to side with men. They were
dependent on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from freedom. Although
women did not work as judges, lawyers, or any other job in the public world, they worked at home.
Women were wives, mothers, and daughters, and without them, the state would collapse and fall to
pieces, without whose work your sons, Sir, would cease to exist, (Three Guineas 54).
Although this was unjust, men were not entirely at fault. Married men got paid twice that of a
bachelor. Half of men s salary belonged to their wives, but women had little access to their
husband s salary. We may assume that the wife of an educated man has as much money to spend,
(Three Guineas 55). Then why, didn t women spend that money on pleasures that she enjoyed?
Because men made the money, women allowed them to decide how it should be spent. She lays
out thousands and thousands of pounds upon clubs to which her own sex in not admitted; upon
racecourses where she may not ride; upon colleges from which her own sex is excluded. She pays
a huge bill annually for wine which she does not drink and for cigars which she does not smoke,
(Three Guineas 56). Once all of the bills were paid, women should have spent their share on causes
that were important to them, on something that would benefit their own well being, such as
education. Without their own

Comparing Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
First of all, where does carnivalesque come from? This concept was coined by Mikhail Bakhtin
who said it embodied life taking from of a typical carnival. The way things are obscured, or not
how they typically would be, essentially life turned inside out is the idea of carnivalism. Without
carnival, life remains as usual and therefore it is impossible to point out the obscure nature of what
is natural life (Johae, Bakhtinian Carnivalesque 304). Luhrmann had used many carnivalelements to
represent Romeo and Juliet in his film version, offering a counterproposition where, in the
inebriation of festivity, societal roles are inverted and where masks and disguises, as the words
indicate, hide identities, including sexual identities, rather than exposing them (Johae, Bakhtinian
Carnivalesque 307). By using this, Luhrmann created a new perspective on the love of Romeo and
Juliet, calling into question the validity of their love, or even the carnival brought about through
their meeting. Carnivalism is effective for Romeo and Juliet because it allows for further analysis
to take place of meaning and emotion in situations, [provoking] an active response, leading us to
make certain connections perhaps hitherto unexplored... creating a highly energetic, primarily...

What this means is that individuals are changed from what is typical of them as is expected by
society (Hennelly, 103) which happens repeatedly at the party scene in the film. Juliet s angel
appearance at the party shows contrast to her daily life, where she is unable to enjoy any such
freedom... Similarly, Romeo, who up to this point shows himself as a sort of delinquent by taking
drugs, as well as taking part in the jokes and behaviors associated with the Montagues, is given the
opportunity to take on an ideal role as a courtly knight (Johae, Bakhtinian Carnivalesque

The poem Beginning was written by a man named James Wright.
On December 13, 1927, James Arlington Wright was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio. His mother
left school at fourteen to work in a laundry and his father worked for over fifty years at a glass
factory. Both of James s parents never attended school after the eighth grade. While in high school
in 1943 James suffered a nervous breakdown and missed a year of school. When he graduated in
1946 he decided a year later to joined the army and then he was stationed in Japan during the
American occupation. later on in his life He then attended Kenyon College on the G.I. Bill, and
studied under John Crowe Ransom. James witnessed a lot of human suffering which profoundly
influenced his connection for writing poetry. This was a way for him to discuss his political and

The Tax Deduction For Charitable
The federal charitable giving tax deduction was adopted in 1917 with the goal of off setting war
time tax burdens. However, now that the policy has been in effect for about one hundred years, it is
possible to look at weather these benefits and goals have been achieved. Does the tax deduction
actually stimulate charitable contribution and do the drawbacks outweigh the benefits? The
purpose of this paper is to refute the argument that taxbreaks increase the incentive for donating and
to argue that eliminating the deduction would actually be more beneficial to the federal budget.
In order to understand why Americans get a tax deduction for charitable giving, it is necessary to
look to World War I. In the interest of funding the war,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more money a person has or makes, the higher tax bracket a person falls in, the smaller the
individuals tax liability. The problem with this is that the top tax bracket has gone down from 70
percent in 1980 to 35 percent in 2003, so the percentage of contributions should have also declined.
But they did not. The abuse of the federal contribution tax is at an all time high, and evidence from
taxpayer audits proves that donators over exaggerate their actual charitable donations.
Politicians and pundits in opposition to the deduction argue that cutbacks need to be made to the
tax break people get for making donations. The country is in such bad debt that the federal budget
just cannot afford to reward charitable giving particularly when it is mostly the rich who benefit
from the deduction. According to an article in the Wall Street journal, Opponents of cutting back
argue that things aren t that simple. The deduction, they say, is a critical incentive that keeps much
needed cash flowing to charities. And donations have already fallen in recent years at a time when
the need for services is soaring.
The question is of course, why is this so important? The answer is very simple, our economy is
not doing very well right now and it hasn t been doing as well as it should for the last decade. The
evidence is pretty overwhelming on this, looking at the evidence over the past one hundred years it
shows that when tax rates are lover

Cade Hamilton Not A Hero
Not a Hero Analysis Draft Not a Hero is a simple and beautiful World War One poem by Clyde
Hamilton. It has been read at ANZAC Day ceremonies across Australia. The poem tells the
narrative of an ANZAC veteran, or old digger as referred to throughout the poem, at an ANZAC
ceremony telling stories of heroes to a young boy. It effectively uses a simple, yet descriptive
and eloquent vocabulary, as well as using literary devices such as rhyme and alliteration. It s
conservative and structured creates rhythm and makes the poem flow and thus easier to
comprehend. The poem s theme is a simple, yet powerful one; never forget the people who
sacrificed their lives for our lives to be lived free. The poem repeatedly refers to these people as
heroes in accordance with this theme, as it demonstrates the poet s appreciation towards these
people who died. The title, Not A Hero, refers to the old digger not being a hero as the only heroes
were those who died for their country, hence; First of all I was not a hero , I served with many...

Mansfield Short Stories
Through her short stories you feel the emotional connection within the characters. She was a
young New Zealand who was dying with a disease called Tuberculosis, dying at the age of 34.
Successfully, she wrote three books with a fourth and fifth book following after her death. There
were many trigger points that led her to become a writer, they were moving back to New Zealand,
her brother s deathin World War 1, and her sensations with how women were treated. Her stories
were described as blurred edges of personality, the poetry of feelingand the expansiveness of the
interior life. (Wilkins) One may argue that Mansfield works never romances the tragedies of modern
women, but rather sympathizes with the women she portrays as she suspends the happy ending.
The women at the store, describes the emotion of a lonely lower class woman with a young bratty
child and a mangy dog running the store. Two men named Jo and Jim ride up on the store
expressing their first impressions as the women being ugly. The men question her husband s
whereabouts, she is confused and changes the subject to avoid answering the question. One of the
men suggests she comes down to the paddock with tea, instead, she quickly responds I don t fancy

she endures every day. She exposes her night gown to the men in the motion of dropping the

The Importance Of Education In Baltimore
There are always two portraits of Baltimore: the one that is painted for you and the one that you
have physically seen. A majority of the people look at Baltimore from the prior portrait through
news media, television shows, musical theatre, etc. because they don t live there. Just like Flint s
ongoing water crisis or the Syrian civil war, there are problems that still exist in Baltimore, namely,
the inequities of the school system, even without being seen in the nation s eyes. It becomes clear
when you compare Baltimore s public schools with the other county s schools surrounding it. This
can be seen with the school buildings and the correlational socioeconomic and achievement gap.

Although it may be true in some parts of the city, it s not for the whole city. Baltimore is a place of
change and creativity, but it has been stigmatized to the point when politicians think, What s the
point? Why should I allocate more funds to a school district that I know will fail instead of a
school district that is bound to succeed? They want to make sure that Maryland looks good, so they
funnel more of the money to better school districts to negate the negative products that
Baltimore brings. This is a problem that cannot be fixed with the current system. Teachers know
their students. They know they have the potential to be better and do better. That s the principle
behind asset based teaching. However, due to Baltimore s notorious record, they do not provide
it a chance. The numbers don t reflect the students potential, so to politician s it doesn t make
sense to go that direction. People say it s not racism, but it is. Most of the money that is given to
school districts are given to those with primarily White populations. There are so many people
in this country that think that racism doesn t exist anymore since Lincoln s address, since the
Civil Rights Movement, because they don t see the blatant racism that occurs in everyday life,
especially in Baltimore. For me, until I went to public school, I didn t know what racism was. I
was in a classroom of snow, but, even at a young age, I knew that it was probably better for me
to be White than to be any other color in the skin tone rainbow. The students in Baltimore are at a
severe disadvantage, but the hands of the local leaders of Baltimore are tied because they can t
help them, and they can t satisfy the state s demands. There s a standstill of action and a downward

brought up is a possible solution. A bye week, as defined by reference.com, is when specific
teams have a week free of competition ( What Does Bye Mean np). To extend the regular season
to 17 weeks, the NFL uses a bye week, welcomingly accepted by players and coaches as a way to
rest from their strenuous schedule ( What Does Bye Mean np). As Madden suggested, for those
teams who receive the occasional Thursday night games, a bye week would solve the suggestive
injury issues tied to the extra night of competition. Additionally, a bye week would solve with the
issue of minimal preparation time, as a whole week would provide extra practice time... Show more

As stated above, the league has commented in response to the Thursday Night Football argument,
saying the near future fails in agreeing with elimination, or even consideration of the suggested
solution. Although many football fans following this issue argue the elimination would solve
problems discussed, the opposite side argues simple facts saying many factors are viable in the
recent drop of television ratings this past season, including the attention drawn to the 2016
presidential race (Barrabi np). Although nearly across the board NFL s primetime game ratings are
lower than normal, improvement is promising as of the conclusion of the presidential election
(Barrabi np). Consequently, last year s Thanksgiving day matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and
the Washington Redskins drew in averagely 35.1 million viewers on the Fox Network, earning the
highest total of viewers for a regular game season since 1995 (Barrabi np). Furthermore, numbers
don t lie, whether those against Thursday Night Football argue or not. Therefore, while many
spectators assume that they know best, Thursday Night Football seems to be a promised regularity
in the near future, despite arguments offered. Consequently, the fans of the National Football League
, along with players and coaches merely desire the best option that will please those involved as a

Descartes s Discourse On Method
In his Discourse on Method, Rene Descartes asserts that all human beings are equal in their ability
to reason and that any differences in opinion are not a result of a difference in ability to reason, but
in the application of the reasoning. Descartes begins his argument for this claim by stating that
rational thought and reason is what separates humans from animals, and that if all people have this
ability to reason, then that must be the distinguishing feature of humanity. He goes on to explain
that while individuals may differ within a species in regard to their non essential qualities, they will
not differ in the species distinguishing feature. This rule accounts for the diversity within humanity
as a species (such as differing hair colors, heights, and weights) while equalizing humanity s ability
to reason. From these premises, Descartes concludes that all humans must have an equal ability to
reason and that differences in thought are merely a result of differences in the application of the
individual s reasoning. In Part V of his Discourse, Descartes continues his argument for reasoning
being the essence of humanity by arguing that non human animals and machines cannot reason, and
therefore reasoning must be solely attributed to humans. Descartes presents two tests to determine
whether or not a being is human or non human, both based on the adaptability of the being s
responses. He first asserts that since machines and non human animals cannot communicate via

Relationships Among Natives And Europeans
Grecia Loya
United States History
April 14, 2015 Relationships among the Natives and Europeans
The stories regarding the Native Americans and European settlers all commence somewhat similar:
the Natives welcome and help sustain the Europeans in the start. They become an instrumental
piece to the European survival in the Americas. The relationship starts to change, however, as
settlers grow independent. In some instances, when there is only personal gain to be acquired, the
relationship becomes a simple trade relationship. In other instances, relationships between the
Native Americans and Europeans evolve into a drastic feud driven by European imperialistic
ideas to impose political, religious and cultural law on the Natives. England has conquered many
territories and established colonies throughout history. In this English form of colonization, it is
clear that there is an obvious mission to intrude into native customs and force their own. They
utilize the purest form of imperialism to strip others of their customs and replace it with ones
own in order to expand glory and gain for a nation. The English colonists seeked to expand and
establish English ideas into foreign cultures. In the case with the Native Americans, the English
did not see the Native Indians as equals in anyway possible. They did not acknowledge their
religion, particularly because it was not Christian based, nor their law system, since it was not
related to church based laws. Wherever

Post Ww2 Aircraft Manufacturing Problems
Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II Jason Weber Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II I. Summary The American
aviation industry was in an uncertain era post World War II (WW2). Aircraft manufacturers were
suffering large loses as the demand for planes dropped sharply and the market was flooded. This
created more supply than demand. Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced
for it. They hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never
came to fruition (Bright, 1978). The resurgence for the industry came in the form of the jet engine.

IV. Development of Alternative Actions Alternative Action 1. Use of large hydraulic presses to
form or extrude aircraft parts. Advantages. The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to
50,000 tons of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been
made up of thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated
for the F 102 by one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had
been needed when traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). Disadvantages.
Presses were not numerous and supply could not meet demand. By the end of the 1950 s the Air
Force operated only nine due to funding cuts (Nalty, 1997). The forging process inherently produces
parts with less tolerance than what was required at the time. Alternative Action 2. Use of
numerically controlled machine tools for aircraft parts. Advantages. The numerically controlled
machines could achieve more precise tolerances and speed the aerospace industry required with
repeatability (rearm). Disadvantages. Numerically controlled machines was an emerging
technology. The research and development costs were extremely high, and the control systems are
very costly (Rajput, 2007). V. Recommendation. The rapid technological advances in aircraft at the
time did not allow for one stand alone

Summary Of Goodfellas And The Silence Of The Lambs
Cinematography has the potential to be so much more than just a means to tell a story. When
applied correctly, cinematography has the capability of being like a work of art hanging in a
museum. Cinematography is also able to give a depth and feeling to a film that would otherwise
not be possible. While all movies must use a camera to merely exist, few professionals have
mastered the skill and artistry that cinematographycan become. Two cinematographers that I feel
use the camera as a paint brush and their subjects has a canvas are Michael Ballhaus, known for
his work in Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas, and Tak Fujimoto, known for his work in The Silence of
the Lambs. Both cinematographers utilize the power of various levels of close ups, medium and
long shots, various camera angles, jib and tracking movements, pan and tilt, and focus just to name
a few. While both films feature killers, the overall plots are fairly different. Yet, through the
masterful use of the camera, both Ballhaus and Fujimoto are able to keep the viewer full engaged
and excited to see what is to come.
As previously mentioned, both Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs feature a killer and/or
killers as the main subjects. Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas is the story of Irish Italian American,
Henry Hill, and how he lives day to day life as a member of the Mafia. Based on a true story, the
plot revolves around Henry and his two unstable friends Jimmy and Tommy as they gradually climb

How Spirit Airlines With American Airlines Essay
WHY I CHOSE THIS COMPANY
Founded in 1964, Spirit Airlines actually began operations in the trucking industry under the name
Clippert Trucking Company, based in Michigan. In subsequent years the firm encountered many
changes in name, headquarters, as well as shifted into different industries entirely. In 1983, the
company branched out into the charter tour operating sector, as Charter One. Particularly, they
provided tours to entertainment destinations such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the islands to the
southeast of Florida known as The Bahamas.
Almost three decades late in 1992, the company officially changed its name to the ultra low cost
passenger carrier company we all know today as Spirit Airlines, which is based in Fort Lauderdale
Hollywood International Airport, under CEO Ben Baldanza. These series of changes in industry, in
combination with the fact that I am an avid Spirit flyer, definitely sparked my interest in further
investigating the financial stance of the company.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to compare Spirit Airlines with American Airlines using the financial
ratios of liquidity, activity, debt, profitability and the market, and to derive some concrete
conclusions about the financial nature of Spirit Airlines. According to Spirit Airlines (2015)
Historic Stock Lookup, from 2011 to 2014, the year end stock prices have increased by 79.4%,
which is outstanding. Thus, Spirit Airlines will be used as a benchmark in terms of comparing

The, Comanche, And Apache Plains Indians
The horse left a large impression on the lives of the Plains Indians; however, the real question
being viewed is how this animal impacted the lives of, more specifically, the Sioux, Comanche,
and Apache Plains Indians. Life before the introduction of the horse was a challenge. The Sioux s
constant migration with the buffalo required long days and created the need for a tool like the
horse in order to better the living standards. The ComancheIndians were extraordinary horsemen
once the horse was introduced to them allowing hunting and gathering to become more efficient.
The Apache Indians were known for their fighting skills and warrior like attributes. When they
encountered the Spanish conquistadors and saw their use of the horse, strong desires for this
animal swept over the Apache population and quickly lead to the trade and even theft of the
horse. It boosted the abilities to fight for these Indians and provided them with a tool that made
them, in their opinion, almost invincible. This information is being derived from a source that
covers every Plains Indian tribe and accurately expresses the actions of these Indians. Without a
bias, it describes that advantages and disadvantages of each tribe, and in this case, explains the
actions of the Apache Indians. Even with this advantage, however, the Comanche Indians still
seemed to have an advantage over the Apache Tribe. This efficiency as well as addition to the
Indian tribes allowed for these societies to feel more

Position Paper on Stephen Covey s, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
MG 401 Senior Seminar in Management Introduction In 1989, Stephen Covey s book The 7
Habits of Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how we think about time and
life management. In this book, Covey presents seven principles for developing effectiveness in our
private and public lives. By developing these habits, one moves from being dependent on other
people to being and acting independently. Then we learn how to move to the more advanced state
of interdependence and successful Cooperation. As a part of the seven habits, Covey introduced
important and powerful techniques of time management under the habit of Put First Things First. ...

Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose
in detailing the seven habits is to help people improve themselves. The seven habits are woven
into a diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the
diagram, one is reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into
thirteen pieces, with the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the
picture as a whole, as well as seeing the development from dependence to independence to
interdependence. The first three habits, which lead to independence, a private victory, lead to
the final four steps, which include public victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to
give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the
masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of leadership over other leaders. Often I see
these leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a difficult situation. They see only a
win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently and think about the book s
section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit talks about being proactive; being
proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all the other habits are
types of being proactive. This entails a realization that you are a person who

The Importance Of Stump In Health And Social Care
UNDERSTANDING YOUR BABY S UMBILICAL STUMP: EXPECTATIONS AND CARE
The umbilical cord is what connects the baby to the mother during pregnancy. It is an important
element of pregnancy your baby s lifeline actually; it s what supplies oxygen, nutrients and life to
your baby for healthy development while in the womb. At delivery, the umbilical cord will be
clamped with a plastic clip and cut close to the baby s body in a simple procedure (cutting the
cord won t be painful for you or the baby as there are no nerves in the cord). After the cut, a stump
of tissue about 2 3cm (1 1ВЅ inches) long in the plastic clip is all that will be left. This is what

Summary Of Tuesdays With Morrie
Aphorism Narrative
Aphorisms are statements of observations that express an opinion or remarks of wisdom.
Tuesdays With Morrie is a book about a man who s dying from ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain
and the spinal cord. ( What Is ALS? ) Morrie uses aphorisms quite frequently to accept his future
and make peace with the past. The two aphorisms I chose are about making your life as fulfilling as
possible. Not only can they relate to me personally in small ways, but also in bigger and deeper
ways.
In Tuesday s with Morrie, Morrie had many aphorisms that not only helped himself but helped

I can t completely forget about these relationships because they can help me grow and become a
better person. I can t deny my faults in those relationships or blame the ending of the relationship
on the other person or else I ll repeat my mistakes in other relationships. I also can t forget the
positive aspects of the relationship and the happy moments without risking living a life of misery
and hate.
Morrie is well known for his aphorisms but he s not the only one who comes up with these words
of truth. An aphorism not of Morrie s but of similar depth and effect comes from the poet, George
Gordon Byron. He said, It is very certain that the desire of life prolongs it. (Aphorisms:Life) Lord
Byron lived from 1788 to 1824 and was a big contribution to the Romanticism era (Lord Byron
Biography). Romanticism was an era of creation made of feelings and expression and new deep
thought (Romanticism). This aphorism is definitely a reflection of the era. (Romanticism)
I believe that this aphorism means that being excited and enthusiastic about living and wanting
to live will make your life longer. If you re always dreading or fearing life, it will appear shorter
and less satisfying to you. For me personally, one of my biggest fears is death. Reading Tuesdays
with Morrie made me amazed and almost jealous of Morrie s outlook on death. I always fear I ll
never live a long, fulfilled life. This aphorism by Lord Byron has helped me realize that if I never do

The Effect Of Ocean Acidification On The Rates Of Calcium...
INTRODUCTION/ABSTRACT For the past 200 years, the rapid increase in atmospheric CO2
continues to be produced by, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization, cement
production, and other land use changes. The ocean absorbs much of this excess CO2 through air
sea gas exchange, resulting in changes in seawater chemistry. Due to human made emissions, the
CO2 content of the oceans has dramatically increased and is gradually acidifying the surface
waters. As a result of human made emissions, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and oceans
has increased dramatically during recent decades. In the ocean, the accumulating CO2 is
gradually acidifying the surface waters, making it difficult for shelled organisms such as corals
and certain open sea plankton to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. Since this process affects
the functioning of several marine ecosystems, it has been massively studied in recent years.
However, getting an accurate measure is complicated because the effect of ocean acidification on
the rates of calcium produced by marine organisms is extremely variable and its species specific.
Since scientists incline to use local and site specific field measurements, treating reef environments
and open sea environments separately, their measurements reflect the local response of individual
organisms to elevated CO2 levels, leaving out the overall picture. RESEARCH Increasing
concentrations of CO2 in the world s oceans has resulted with serious

Review Of Twilight By Stephanie Meyers
Twilight is a book written by Stephanie Meyers it is considered a romance, but with a lack of
character depth and without those characters having many redeeming qualities it is hard to
classify it as such. Twilight is the story of a 17 years who move in with her dad and fall in love
with a vampire. There are many poor qualities in this book including Bella the main character, the
stalker like qualities of Edward, the fact no one in the town notices the vampires, terrible parents,
and a horrible villain.
Bella is the main character and the narrator of the story she is explained to be pale and that s
about it. Bella is a girl who apparently has always had to be the adult in her mother daughter
relationship, but yet she completely lacks common sense. Numerous times in the book her life is

as if she thinks she is invisible with being the most week character in the book. At one point in the
book she literally passes out from seeing blood and yet other times she rushing into danger with
out a second thought. The book tries to play her actions as brave but they come across as childish
and not thought out. Another problem is she is completely ok with Edwards s horrible behavior
towards her. He literally was sneaking into watch her sleep and she thought it was sweet. She is

Essay On Ports And Terminal
3.3 Port and Terminal A port is defined as an area on both land and water, whether on the sea or
river, that provides facilities for shipping vessels to load and unload their cargo. This area,
contained within port limits , will have been established over years of increasing or declining
trade patterns and therefore is defined as the human set limits . There may be several harbors and

may have several berths, that handles vessels and possibly more than one type of vessel or cargo.
The rapid growth of international and local trade in Maritime sector underline the importance of
ports and terminal in connecting the ship with the land to move the people or cargo. Ports and

Communism And Communism In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
According to Mao Zedong , communism is not love. Communism is a hammer used to crush the
enemy ( Communist ). Moreover, Communism is a political theory derived from the renowned
philosopher Karl Marx. He believes that the government should divide the land equally, and pay
people according to their abilities and needs ( Communism). As the Cold War intensified in the
1950s, the hysteria of the perceived threat posed by communist became known as The Red Scare (

To refine, Red comes from the prominent color of the Soviet Union flag, while Scare comes from
the simple fact that Americans are fearful that the system of Communism would spread to the
United States. If this was the situation put in the Americans lap, innocents would be accused by
anti Communist because of simple actions that reflected communist views. Surprisingly, The
United States government significantly involved themselves in The Red Scare. In addition, The
most important crusader against communism was the American politician, Senator Joseph
McCarthy. McCarthy sets the ejection of communist as his main priority. Inadequately, he used
intimidating tactics and hearsays to get his information. Inconsistently, McCarthy often had
scarce evidence when he accused people of working for the Soviet Union and partaking in
communist activities. Evidently, he ruined many people s careers and lives before other leaders
in the Congress could end his unjustful ways ( The ). To note the similarity, The Crucible was
an analogy for a contemporary witch hunt in the McCarthy era. Miller s play, The Crucible, was
a comparison between the Salem Witchcraft Trials and The Red Scare, yet the idea was never
directly displayed in his work. To add on, the timeline of the 1680 s and 1690 s witchery
accusations was very similar to those of the 1920 s Red Scare, communist accusations ( The ).

Then, after a year, the community s fear was exploited and they petitioned against the plant, and it

A nuclear plant in Hartlepool, Germany was opposed by its citizens. Thousands of people gathered
in protest, and the plant was not built. Germans continued their protests of anything having to do

Murray then discusses nuclear waste, which is more of a problem. The rods in American reactors
must be replaced every 18 months, and it will be a problem when there is no more room. Fuel

What Does The Mask Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
A mask is a covering for all or parts of the face, worn as a disguise, or to abuse or terrify other
people (merriam Webster n.p). In the novel The Great Gatsby, Scott Fitzgerald use mask like a
covering to hide each characters true emotions. Even today the use of mask can be found on just
average people. A mask, we ve all worn them for a variety of reasons, whatever it may be. It
disguises who we are for at least a moment and can bring a sense of continuation for the time being.
In this novel, the masks used by the author are most evident on three of the main characters,
Myrtle, Daisy, and Jay Gatsby. They are looking for something else, because what they have just
isn t enough. We often wear masks to disguise who we are for a moment and... Show more content

Daisy has a mask of perfection. Daisy has the perfect marriage and indescribably amazing life
style. At least, this she portrays her life to be to outsiders. On the inside of all the beauty and
perfection is a lonely, insecure, heartbroken woman. She had a bad marriage with Tom, it was
based on money and he could never be loyal to her. Daisy never felt true love for him. Daisy fell
in love with the expensive gift Tom presented her and stayed with him for that reason. The true
love she knew and longed to be with was Jay Gatsby who wasn t rich like she has wanted. You
can clearly see where heart is though when she receives the letter from Gatsby on her wedding
day and says Take em downstairs and give em back to whoever they belong to. (Fitzgerald 81).
She began to cry she cried and cried. (Fitzgerald 81). Daisy knew her situation but is clearly
unsatisfied. The very next day at five o clock she married Tom Buchanan. Daisy mask shows her
insecurities, but she doesn t know how to express the way she truly feels. Instead of finding real
happiness by choosing true love, she chooses the craving of money that she lust for. After all, her
voice is full of money. (Fitzgerald

Escitalopram Case Study
Escitalopram is an antidepressant approved by the FDA for treatment of major depressive
disorder (MDD) or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Development of escitalopram, achieved
by collaboration of Lundbeck and Forest Laboratories, began in the summer of 1997 and took
only 3.5 years. The first patients participated in studies for marketing authorization in summer of
1999, and the first clinical results were published in December 2000. A year later, in December
2001, Lundbeck received Swedish approval for the treatment of depression and panic disorder. By
May of 2002, the product had been approved in many European countries thanks to the European
Mutual Recognition Procedure. Meanwhile, in March 2001 Forest submitted a New Drug
Application... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, escitalopram has been claimed to be a more potent antidepressant than a racemic
mixture, citalopram, of the two enantiomers. Researchers from Lundbeck tried to explain this
phenomenon by proposing that escitalopram enhances its own binding by interacting with another
allosteric site on the transporter. However, additional research showed that (R) citalopram also
enhances the binding of escitalopram, so allosteric interaction cannot explain the observed
counteracting effect. Of the SSRIs currently on the market, escitalopram has the highest affinity for
the serotonin transporter, and thus has a relatively mild side effect profile. Some of the more
commonly reported side effects are diarrhea, drowsiness, headache, ejaculatory disorder, nausea,
insomnia, and delayed ejaculation. More include anorgasmia, constipation, fatigue, dizziness, and
decreased libido. Many side effects affect the reproductive system, probably because serotonin also
plays a role in sexual desire and function. Other SSRIs that may be used as antidepressants include
Zoloft, Celexa, Paxil, and Prozac. Other common antidepressants include Wellbutrin and Xanax, and
Abilify is commonly used in combination with

Anna Komnene s The Alexiad
The Alexiad is one of the most famous documents of Byzantine texts written by princess Anna
Komnene the daughter of Alexios I. She describes the events in the eyes of the Byzantines,
making the source, to an extent, biased towards her father. It is a rich account providing a
unique view of a key period in in the history of Byzantium and Europe. The book documents one
of the most active periods in the High Middle Ages politically and militarily and its influence on
religion. Komnene beings the book with an in depth description of her father. In the book she
compares the wars and feats her father faces to be worthy of Herakles (Hercules) because he is a

Uniquely, her account does not delve into the reforms of society, economy, or power but rather
discusses Alexios military campaigns he leads with and against the Byzantine neighbors.
Throughout the book, Komnene chronicles the wars and the different groups Alexios battles. In
Book I, Komnene addresses Alexios becoming general in the army and the preparations for war
against the Normans; the Normans had led a military campaign against the Byzantines under the
consent of Pope Gregory VII to conquer lands and power for the Catholic Church. The battle
pursued for years, eventually the Normans being led by Robert s son Bohemond. When he
besieged the city, the Byzantines resisted and Bohemond was forced to abandon the campaign and
sign a peace treaty. During the First Crusade, Anna Komnene refers to the Celts, Latins, and
Normans as uneducated barbarians and heretics. At the time, Alexios was emperor and saw the
evil was corrupting many souls and being a strong Christian leader he had to counteract the heresy.
The First Crusade was complex; it was not a just a Holy War between the Roman Catholic Church
and the Caliphate, but an evolution of religion in Byzantium. The church split: Greek orthodox in
the east and the Latin orthodox church in the west. The goal of the Crusade was to repel the
barbarians and take back the Holy Land that was stolen from the Muslim forces. This was
significant as it illustrates

What Are The Four Generic Conventions
In a day in age where we live in a vast multimedia culture, content is supplied to us through distinct
and diverse outlets including video, animation, audio, and text. Within these outlets comes more a
defined set of media. Text is anything you can read which includes books, magazines, newspapers,
and advertisements. Audio on the other hand is anything you can listen to which includes podcasts,
music, and radio. Once you get down to these specific levels, a higher classification level is
required in order to define, describe, and organize types of compositions. This requires genre which
is a subcategory of media or entertainment that is established and defined by certain heterogeneous
characteristics.

Implementation and project plan is very critical for the success of a project. Project plan is the
situation analysis, identification of problem, goal definition, designing a work plan, formulating
strategies and budgeting of overall project. On the other hand, implementation plan is defined as the
utilization, mobilization and control of resources and project operation. This paper aims to provide
strategic planning and implementation of Identity the Theft Corporation (ITC) project. The project
also provides a risk and financial plan.
Identity theft protection service is a very big industry amounting to more than $4 billion a year.
However, the annual loss recorded in the United States is more than $50 billion due to identity
theft, and the U.S government has decided to spend approximately $55 billion to combat ID theft.
With significant increase in ID theft, the market for ID theft protection service continues to grow
and will reach $12.3 billion in 2014. (Research and Market, 2010).
To have larger cut in the market share, the strategic implementation plan is conducted to assist ITC
to develop innovative ID protection service within the industry, which will allow the company to
differentiate itself in the industry.

In the 1940s and 1950s cable television had very poor reception until community antennas were
built on mountain tops or high points. In the late 1950s distant signals began to change the
focus of cable s role from one of transmitting local broadcast signals to one of providing new
programming choices. By 1962 there were around 850,000 subscribers and well known
corporate names began investing in the business (NCTA, 2010). In the 70s the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) started to enact regulations that limited the cable
operators programming. This is the time that the business aspect of cable television became a
part of American history. When the cable companies can regulate what people are able to get for
free or at a lower rate, they can charge more for other syndicated programming. From 1984 to
1992 the cable industry forked over more than 15 billion dollars on the wiring of America. This
was the largest private construction project since World War II. In 2001 there were more than
twenty two million cable customers in the United States and now there are over 100 million
cable subscribers in the US (NCTA, 2010). From the first broadcast that Hoover made to having
8 million television sets in America it only took about 25 years. Now only 50 to 60 years later
there TV s in cars, their light weight and flat, some are hand held and some up to 77 in size. The

Summary Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo A Natural History
In the twentieth century, pink flamingo decorations began popping up everywhere. Jennifer Price
explains why they became so popular in her essay, The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History.
Price believes that American culture only focuses on how the fad began, the irony of how they
treats the real flamingo, as well as the bright colors that are portrayed. The beginning of the
popularity of flamingos is explained in detail during the beginning of the essay. Flamingos
became synonymous with wealth and pizzazz which lead to everyone wanting one. A Florida
hotel, the flamingo, was visited by the rich. Since the country was just coming out of the
depression, everyone wished to appear rich leading to more hotels being built to cater to an eager
middle class. The upper class had a fancy hotel, and all of the country decided to copy them. While
the United States were obsessed with flamingos in the 1900s, Florida residents hunted the bird in
prior years. In her second paragraph, Price calls this new found fad ironic. She explains that
Americans hunted flamingos to extinction in Florida in the late 1850s. Any animal being hunted
that much is a travesty, yet not even a century later, Americans used this graceful bird as a lawn
ornamentto express leisure and extravagance. These powerful adjectives demonstrate the level of

Reality Test Should Be Used For School
Imagine yourself back in your freshman year of highschool. It is early October and field hockey
is going great. Classes are not too bad either, and reports are right around the corner. On Monday
your teacher pulls you aside and lets you know that if you do not get at least an eighty on this
next test you will not do well in the class. Not only do you have other work due for school, but
you have a job, field hockey and only two days left to study and really understand the material. This
is currently the issue with test, teachers are using them as end point grades. This means they use
them to see how much someone knows. Hence, using tests as final scoring of what they have
learned. In reality test should be used to help guide teaching. As a teacher we should realize that
test grades are affected by a lot of outside sources and are not always reliable. Test should be used
to help guide the way teachers help their students learn, not used to measure what a student
already knows. To lay a foundation for why tests should not be used to measure how much
students know, but rather used as a guide for what teachers should teach we will look at the
reliability of test. There are many factors that come into play when we are talking about test
reliability, one being that there is not real feedback when it comes to tests. In the school district
that I grew up in after our tests were graded and then given back to us with only incorrectly
answered questions marked. A lot of the time

a student s primary source to find help, but there are different clubs than can be of use in these
areas. Members of these associations build bonds and that will selflessly help one another. For
example, Software Engineering and Computer ScienceMajors will tend to stay close together in

Cinematography Is an Integral Part of Motion Pictures Essay
C. Cinematography The term cinematography is interconnected with the concept of still
photography, but is an integral part of motion pictures. Within this context, Russell Carpenter s role
as the cinematographer of the film Titanic is important. For instance, his attitude towards
cinematography, especially his tireless effort to attain perfection contributed to the success of the
film. In the film, Carpenter s co operation with art department and visual effects department deeply
influenced his role in the film as a cinematographer. During the production of the film, Cameron s
initial idea did not clash with Carpenter s personal idea on cinematography. To be specific, working

From a different angle of view, close up shots of the lovers (in the deck) provide richness and
romantic touch to the scenes. On the other side, long shots provide importance to the sinking of
the ship. E. Sound In the initial stages of the production of the film Titanic, Cameron was not
ready to use any song. When he listened to the song My Heart Will Go On sung by Celine Dion,
he changed his mind and decided to use the same in his film. One can see that this song is one of
the elements behind the commercial success of the film as an international hit. The film s musical
element is contributed by James Roy Horner. One can see that Horner s music is deeply
influenced by Celtic music. Besides, Horner was deeply interested to inculcate electronic elements
to film music. From a different angle of view, the sound effect in the film leads the viewers from
peace to chaos and vice versa. In addition, the sound effects contributed much to the commercial
success and international fame of the film. One can see that sound designing is an integral part of
the sound effects in a film. Within the context of sound designing of the film Titanic, Chris Boyes s
contribution is noteworthy because he was keenly interested to inculcate natural sound to the sound
track. Some of the important scenes in the film (Titanic hitting the iceberg and sinking into the
Ocean) prove Boyle as a successful sound

Gender In Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen writes her novel Northanger Abbey surrounding the protagonist, Catherine Morland, a
young girl, living within the Regency Period. Women at this time were seen as subordinate to men,
and were taught to seek a husband for wealth and status. From the very first page of the novel,
however, we see that Austen does not depict Catherine Morland as a typical woman of this time.
Jane Austenwrites the character of Catherine Morland as a character pushing the boundaries for
women of this time. Jane Austen voiced heavily in her works the idea of women s rights, and
disagreed heavily on the typical gender roles in society that women such as Catherine Morland
were to conform to. Austen uses literary elements such as point of view and characterization to
write the character of Catherine in such a way to support her ideals against stereotypical... Show

These devices noted in the novel, help support the notion that Austen rejects the conformity of
females during these periods to social norms in a patriarchal society, writes her character in a way
to emphasize her beliefs.
In the beginning of the novel, we see how Austen introduces Catherine Morland as a heroine
within the first few lines of the novel. This to the reader indicates to us that Austen will portray
her character in a different manner than the other females, in order to support her idea of
Catherine being a feminist of her time. No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her
infancy, would have supposed her born to be an heroine (p. 5). Jane Austen supports the idea of the
rejection of stereotypical gender roles of the time not only through the way Catherine behaves and
the way she

Kubbo And The Two Strings
Kubo and the Two strings is an amazing animation film that is based off of Japanese culture and
can be very dark at times. Personally, I believe that little kids shouldn t watch this because they
may not be able to understand it or just be scared in general. Kubo is a clever, kindhearted boy who
tells stories through origami by using a Shamisen (magical musical instrument) to the people that
live in his seaside town. That was until the day he stayed out when the sun set vanished and now
he is on the run from a past that he barely understands. This was a great movie because it s not an
ordinary animated film its blended in with having origami telling the story as well as the anime
characters.
Kubo and the Two Strings is about a boy named Kubo, who tells fantastical stories about a great
samurai warrior named Hanzo in his town. That was until the day he accidentally summoned a
mythical spirit the Moon King who has already taken one of his eyes and is intending to take his
other eye. He doesn t quite understand why the Moon King is after him, but his mother has made
a huge sacrifice to keep him away from the Moon King. Now Kubo must join forces with a
Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey), to solve the mystery of what
happened to his fallen father while also trying to save his family. With the help of his shamisen
(magical musical instrument) Kubo must battle monsters and gods, including the Moon King
(Ralph Fiennes) and evil twin sisters (Rooney Mara).

  • 2. Privatized Nursing Homes Quality of life is elusive. Quality of life is complicated, multi faceted, and subjective. Conventional ways of measuring it have emerged, mostly in terms of access to technology, level of fulfillment of basic needs, etc. Certainly it is very difficult to have a high quality of life without having a consistent or stable source of food for your family or yourself. But in the end, the question of defining quality of life seems to be, unavoidably, self determined. In addition the quality of nursing homes and long term care is determined by privatized companies who end goal is to make profits. In LTC and nursing homes it is advertised that, every department is involved in implementing quality management to offer the best quality of service;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If as Canadian we recognized the kind of active state presence in LTC that we see reflected in the framing of Medicare, we would identify the related elements in LTC. This would be done by ensuring citizens the access to basic levels of services by federal intervention to ensure reasonable outcomes. Attention to policy is key in order to assure access and rights of LTC services. Like the right to choose physicians, or accommodating the different special needs of old people and protect their rights. Aronson and Neysmith the authors of The Retreat of the State and Long Term Care Provision suggest bring a more active government into the policy making in Canada. Although this can be challenging it presence social development which is presented in European policy making. The authors stress the importance of voicing alternative measurements in LTC to better provide greater security and equality in policies which is affecting a larger number of Canadian citizens and those who care for them. By providing education and alternative methods of understanding, this provides challenging methods to provide better security and equality to future of Canada social security. • 3. Western Civilization Influence The concept of the West began after the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire declined for its division between the Eastern, and the Western Rome which occurred in 285 A.D. After the fall of Rome, the literature, its art, history, and technology were scattered and was lost near the western part of the empire. This scattering of lost history made the formation of a new West Empire. Christianity and Roman Catholicism played a dominant role in the shaping of the Western. There are three major parts that influenced and helped the development of the Western Civilization which is Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Mesopotamia heavily influenced the development of western civilization, by their organized shaped communities. Many historians traced the roots western civilization back to the land area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Having land between rivers allowed a surplus of food from farming, engineering advances, such as the construction of canals, dams, drains, and the Sumerians and Babylonians could build large cities. This land was known to be Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia was the West first enormous societal structure and system. The western based the first cultures which were originated from the Mesopotamia region, which shows how Mesopotamian cultures provided a great influence on the West. Even though, the way that I feel about the current president of the United States may change how I would express myself and advise him on the current situation which we are facing today. First, being The President of the United Statesis and should be valued as a great honor and privilege, you are measured superior to all. You are supposed to be making the best decisions for all. Normally, if a President has an issues or needs to make a statement this is not the way it is gone about. I have never seen a president who has time to take to twitter when wanting to address things. There are comments that were being made by Trump that have made matters worse. He needs to try to be more of a solution then create more of a problem. Americans are already faced with trying times. Trump has stated during his speech in Alabama wouldn t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespect our flag, to say get that son of a b****** off the field right now. He s fired. He s fired. (Trump 2016) After, Trump made this statement more football player began to take a knee during the anthem. There is a way as President of The United States to speak or address the citizens of the U.S, and this way that you decided to voice yourself is not the best way. Not everyone is disagreeing with the way President Trump handles the issues that we are facing. I think that these players are standing together in what they believe in and knowing what is not right and continues to get worse with the system working against certain people. • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electoral System The Oxford Dictionary (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2016) defines an election as a formal and organised choice by vote of a person for a political office or other position . This is the same in all democratic countries, however, no two countries have the exact same procedure for carrying out elections. There are many ways in which electionscan differ from state to state, for example, does the entire population have the same choice of people to vote for or is the voting based on constituencies, or are people voting for individuals or a whole party. The variation between them lies within the electoral systems employed in each of these countries. Electoral systems are simply the rules of elections and how they are conducted. The electoral system affects the type and level of interaction between politicians and constituents (PR STV and localism in Irish politics, 2011). In Ireland, since gaining independence in 1922, representatives of DГЎil Eireann have been elected by proportional representation by single transferable vote (Gallagher, 2016). In 1937 it was set out in Bunreacht na hEireann that Dail Eireann shall be composed of members who represent constituencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This representation can sometimes mean a member of the DГЎil prioritises the good of their own local people instead of what is best for the state. This may not seem like such a negative effect at first but it can result in a parliament, weakened by its members lack of focus on national issues, and thereby unable to fully hold the government to account (PR STV and localism in Irish politics, ... • 6. A Interview About A Former Florida Atlantic University... As I reflect on my life, I can t imagine my life without sports. Sports is my passion and the one thing that keeps me sane and happy. This assignment has showed me the love I have for sports and how it consumes my whole life. My whole life revolves around it. As I am sitting down writing this paper, I am listening to an interview about a former Florida Atlantic University football player who is now dealing with life after the NFL. His name is Christian Milstead, a 2015 Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduate. After the 2015 NFL draft, Milstead was invited to take part of the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, he wasn t one of the 300 people who made it on a NFL roster. Milstead, however, life is going great. Of course, he would love to be playing on Sundays, but he is enjoying life as a Personal Trainer Director for one of LA Fitness locations in South Florida. I thought coming out of college I would working for a network or an organization as a sports reporter. Seven months later, I am still trying to adjust to life as a teacher. Every day I miss waking up every morning to go and report on FAU. I was a sports director for FAU s student media outlet OwlTV and I was more of a sideline reporter than a director. I enjoyed reporting about the football players trying to get to the next level which was the NFL or former NBA veteran Michael Curry attempting to bring success to the men s basketball program. Julian finds the wire, takes her to the docks and nearly slits her throat before Sonny rescues her and she s able to stab him (7/8). • 9. Integrity And Integrity What keeps the society we live in secure? Why are we, as a people, able to coexist in nations, unified under one banner? By what invisible barrier do humans band together and live as one? The answer is integrity. Morals alone cannot encompass what bonds us, nor honesty or fidelity. It is the combination of the three that can summarize that barrier that holds all together. Integrityis not only a venerative virtue, but a necessity for all sentient beings. It is, in its basest form, a strong loyalty to and the virtuous enforcement of ones mortality. When expanded, it encompasses the bonds of loyalty between humans, the connection between man and country, follower and leader, husband and wife. Between father and son, and all other mutual bonds... Where loyalty to morality meets, so does loyalty to bonds. They are very similar, in that without loyalty, for either one, one cannot have integrity. It may be that one has a friend, but are they willing to defend them? Are they willing to fight for them, to sacrifice something for them? These are the questions that must be asked to temper these connections, to either emerge brittle or strengthened. Without loyalty there can be no true integrity, and without integrity, morals and bonds become weakened, sapped of all conviction and truth. Integrity is the lifeblood of democracy. • 10. The Differences between Command Economies and Free Market... The Differences between Command Economies and Free Market Economies The prime difference between command economies and free market economies is the method used to answer the three central questions of what, for whom, and how? Each of these questions relates to production. In a free market economy, the answers to these questions are decided by the consumer and overseen by a government that practices a laissez faire economic policy. Production is decided on a supply and demand basis resulting in a capitalist society. This happens due to the dispersion of wealth throughout an economy, the richest dictating which products should be produced due to their own demands, and the poorest having little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of economy works in the private sector of business ie. Individual firms. A command economy is an entirely different system in which a central government decides how to answer the three central economic questions. The government would decide what is to be produced, how it is to be priced etc. resulting in a far more communist state. This obviously gives the government a far more autocratic role in their economic policy in contrast to the free market economy. Products are designed with the incentive to meet consumer needs rather than to meet the wants of the richest. This way is far more practical towards ensureing the production of necessary goods. This type of economy works under the public sector everything is funded and controlled by the central government. Discuss Whether there are Lessons to be Learned Between the Two Systems No economic system will ever work flawlessly so it is undoubtable that these two systems would be able to adapt to become more practical. • 11. Women Seeing the World through a Different Lens in Three... At the time Virginia Woolf wrote The Years and Three Guineas, there were many differences between men and women, one of which was education. Most women were not educated, which prevented them from entering into agency. Women allowed themselves to be played by history. In order for them to change a worldthat was dominated by men, women needed to refuse what history said was their essence, and rather, use that essence to create critical ways of being in the world. The photograph, a crudely colored photograph of your world as it appears to us who see it from the threshold of the private house; through the shadow of the veil that St. Paul still lays upon your eyes; from the bridge which connects the private house with the world of... They were dependent on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from freedom. Although women did not work as judges, lawyers, or any other job in the public world, they worked at home. Women were wives, mothers, and daughters, and without them, the state would collapse and fall to pieces, without whose work your sons, Sir, would cease to exist, (Three Guineas 54). Although this was unjust, men were not entirely at fault. Married men got paid twice that of a bachelor. Half of men s salary belonged to their wives, but women had little access to their husband s salary. We may assume that the wife of an educated man has as much money to spend, (Three Guineas 55). Then why, didn t women spend that money on pleasures that she enjoyed? Because men made the money, women allowed them to decide how it should be spent. She lays out thousands and thousands of pounds upon clubs to which her own sex in not admitted; upon racecourses where she may not ride; upon colleges from which her own sex is excluded. She pays a huge bill annually for wine which she does not drink and for cigars which she does not smoke, (Three Guineas 56). Once all of the bills were paid, women should have spent their share on causes that were important to them, on something that would benefit their own well being, such as education. • 12. Comparing Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet First of all, where does carnivalesque come from? This concept was coined by Mikhail Bakhtin who said it embodied life taking from of a typical carnival. The way things are obscured, or not how they typically would be, essentially life turned inside out is the idea of carnivalism. Without carnival, life remains as usual and therefore it is impossible to point out the obscure nature of what is natural life (Johae, Bakhtinian Carnivalesque 304). Luhrmann had used many carnivalelements to represent Romeo and Juliet in his film version, offering a counterproposition where, in the inebriation of festivity, societal roles are inverted and where masks and disguises, as the words indicate, hide identities, including sexual identities, rather than exposing them (Johae, Bakhtinian Carnivalesque 307). By using this, Luhrmann created a new perspective on the love of Romeo and Juliet, calling into question the validity of their love, or even the carnival brought about through their meeting. Carnivalism is effective for Romeo and Juliet because it allows for further analysis to take place of meaning and emotion in situations, [provoking] an active response, leading us to make certain connections perhaps hitherto unexplored... creating a highly energetic, primarily... However, now that the policy has been in effect for about one hundred years, it is possible to look at weather these benefits and goals have been achieved. Does the tax deduction actually stimulate charitable contribution and do the drawbacks outweigh the benefits? The purpose of this paper is to refute the argument that taxbreaks increase the incentive for donating and to argue that eliminating the deduction would actually be more beneficial to the federal budget. The more money a person has or makes, the higher tax bracket a person falls in, the smaller the individuals tax liability. The problem with this is that the top tax bracket has gone down from 70 percent in 1980 to 35 percent in 2003, so the percentage of contributions should have also declined. But they did not. The abuse of the federal contribution tax is at an all time high, and evidence from taxpayer audits proves that donators over exaggerate their actual charitable donations. Politicians and pundits in opposition to the deduction argue that cutbacks need to be made to the tax break people get for making donations. The country is in such bad debt that the federal budget just cannot afford to reward charitable giving particularly when it is mostly the rich who benefit from the deduction. According to an article in the Wall Street journal, Opponents of cutting back argue that things aren t that simple. The deduction, they say, is a critical incentive that keeps much needed cash flowing to charities. And donations have already fallen in recent years at a time when the need for services is soaring. The question is of course, why is this so important? The answer is very simple, our economy is not doing very well right now and it hasn t been doing as well as it should for the last decade. They want to make sure that Maryland looks good, so they funnel more of the money to better school districts to negate the negative products that Baltimore brings. This is a problem that cannot be fixed with the current system. Teachers know their students. They know they have the potential to be better and do better. That s the principle behind asset based teaching. However, due to Baltimore s notorious record, they do not provide it a chance. The numbers don t reflect the students potential, so to politician s it doesn t make sense to go that direction. People say it s not racism, but it is. • 20. Descartes s Discourse On Method In his Discourse on Method, Rene Descartes asserts that all human beings are equal in their ability to reason and that any differences in opinion are not a result of a difference in ability to reason, but in the application of the reasoning. Descartes begins his argument for this claim by stating that rational thought and reason is what separates humans from animals, and that if all people have this ability to reason, then that must be the distinguishing feature of humanity. He goes on to explain that while individuals may differ within a species in regard to their non essential qualities, they will not differ in the species distinguishing feature. This rule accounts for the diversity within humanity as a species (such as differing hair colors, heights, and weights) while equalizing humanity s ability to reason. From these premises, Descartes concludes that all humans must have an equal ability to reason and that differences in thought are merely a result of differences in the application of the individual s reasoning. In Part V of his Discourse, Descartes continues his argument for reasoning being the essence of humanity by arguing that non human animals and machines cannot reason, and therefore reasoning must be solely attributed to humans. Descartes presents two tests to determine whether or not a being is human or non human, both based on the adaptability of the being s responses. He first asserts that since machines and non human animals cannot communicate via spoken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They become an instrumental piece to the European survival in the Americas. The relationship starts to change, however, as settlers grow independent. In some instances, when there is only personal gain to be acquired, the relationship becomes a simple trade relationship. In other instances, relationships between the Native Americans and Europeans evolve into a drastic feud driven by European imperialistic ideas to impose political, religious and cultural law on the Natives. England has conquered many territories and established colonies throughout history. In this English form of colonization, it is clear that there is an obvious mission to intrude into native customs and force their own. They utilize the purest form of imperialism to strip others of their customs and replace it with ones own in order to expand glory and gain for a nation. The English colonists seeked to expand and establish English ideas into foreign cultures. In the case with the Native Americans, the English did not see the Native Indians as equals in anyway possible. They did not acknowledge their religion, particularly because it was not Christian based, nor their law system, since it was not related to church based laws. Wherever ... Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced for it. They hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never came to fruition (Bright, 1978). The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to 50,000 tons of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been made up of thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated for the F 102 by one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had been needed when traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). While all movies must use a camera to merely exist, few professionals have mastered the skill and artistry that cinematographycan become. Two cinematographers that I feel use the camera as a paint brush and their subjects has a canvas are Michael Ballhaus, known for his work in Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas, and Tak Fujimoto, known for his work in The Silence of the Lambs. Morrie is well known for his aphorisms but he s not the only one who comes up with these words of truth. An aphorism not of Morrie s but of similar depth and effect comes from the poet, George Gordon Byron. He said, It is very certain that the desire of life prolongs it. (Aphorisms:Life) Lord Byron lived from 1788 to 1824 and was a big contribution to the Romanticism era (Lord Byron Biography). Romanticism was an era of creation made of feelings and expression and new deep thought (Romanticism). This aphorism is definitely a reflection of the era. (Romanticism) I believe that this aphorism means that being excited and enthusiastic about living and wanting to live will make your life longer. If you re always dreading or fearing life, it will appear shorter and less satisfying to you. For me personally, one of my biggest fears is death. • 32. The Effect Of Ocean Acidification On The Rates Of Calcium... INTRODUCTION/ABSTRACT For the past 200 years, the rapid increase in atmospheric CO2 continues to be produced by, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization, cement production, and other land use changes. The ocean absorbs much of this excess CO2 through air sea gas exchange, resulting in changes in seawater chemistry. Due to human made emissions, the CO2 content of the oceans has dramatically increased and is gradually acidifying the surface waters. As a result of human made emissions, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and oceans has increased dramatically during recent decades. In the ocean, the accumulating CO2 is gradually acidifying the surface waters, making it difficult for shelled organisms such as corals and certain open sea plankton to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. Since this process affects the functioning of several marine ecosystems, it has been massively studied in recent years. However, getting an accurate measure is complicated because the effect of ocean acidification on the rates of calcium produced by marine organisms is extremely variable and its species specific. Since scientists incline to use local and site specific field measurements, treating reef environments and open sea environments separately, their measurements reflect the local response of individual organisms to elevated CO2 levels, leaving out the overall picture. RESEARCH Increasing concentrations of CO2 in the world s oceans has resulted with serious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Twilight is the story of a 17 years who move in with her dad and fall in love with a vampire. There are many poor qualities in this book including Bella the main character, the stalker like qualities of Edward, the fact no one in the town notices the vampires, terrible parents, and a horrible villain. At one point in the book she literally passes out from seeing blood and yet other times she rushing into danger with out a second thought. However, additional research showed that (R) citalopram also enhances the binding of escitalopram, so allosteric interaction cannot explain the observed counteracting effect. Jennifer Price explains why they became so popular in her essay, The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History. Price believes that American culture only focuses on how the fad began, the irony of how they treats the real flamingo, as well as the bright colors that are portrayed. The beginning of the popularity of flamingos is explained in detail during the beginning of the essay. Flamingos became synonymous with wealth and pizzazz which lead to everyone wanting one. A Florida hotel, the flamingo, was visited by the rich. Since the country was just coming out of the depression, everyone wished to appear rich leading to more hotels being built to cater to an eager middle class. The upper class had a fancy hotel, and all of the country decided to copy them. While the United States were obsessed with flamingos in the 1900s, Florida residents hunted the bird in prior years. • 50. Gender In Northanger Abbey Jane Austen writes her novel Northanger Abbey surrounding the protagonist, Catherine Morland, a young girl, living within the Regency Period. Women at this time were seen as subordinate to men, and were taught to seek a husband for wealth and status. From the very first page of the novel, however, we see that Austen does not depict Catherine Morland as a typical woman of this time. Jane Austenwrites the character of Catherine Morland as a character pushing the boundaries for women of this time. Jane Austen voiced heavily in her works the idea of women s rights, and disagreed heavily on the typical gender roles in society that women such as Catherine Morland were to conform to. Austen uses literary elements such as point of view and characterization to write the character of Catherine in such a way to support her ideals against stereotypical... These devices noted in the novel, help support the notion that Austen rejects the conformity of females during these periods to social norms in a patriarchal society, writes her character in a way to emphasize her beliefs. In the beginning of the novel, we see how Austen introduces Catherine Morland as a heroine within the first few lines of the novel. This to the reader indicates to us that Austen will portray her character in a different manner than the other females, in order to support her idea of Catherine being a feminist of her time. No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy, would have supposed her born to be an heroine (p. 5). Jane Austen supports the idea of the rejection of stereotypical gender roles of the time not only through the way Catherine behaves and the way she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Kubbo And The Two Strings Kubo and the Two strings is an amazing animation film that is based off of Japanese culture and can be very dark at times. Personally, I believe that little kids shouldn t watch this because they may not be able to understand it or just be scared in general. Kubo is a clever, kindhearted boy who tells stories through origami by using a Shamisen (magical musical instrument) to the people that live in his seaside town. That was until the day he stayed out when the sun set vanished and now he is on the run from a past that he barely understands. This was a great movie because it s not an ordinary animated film its blended in with having origami telling the story as well as the anime characters. Kubo and the Two Strings is about a boy named Kubo, who tells fantastical stories about a great samurai warrior named Hanzo in his town. That was until the day he accidentally summoned a mythical spirit the Moon King who has already taken one of his eyes and is intending to take his other eye. He doesn t quite understand why the Moon King is after him, but his mother has made a huge sacrifice to keep him away from the Moon King. Now Kubo must join forces with a Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey), to solve the mystery of what happened to his fallen father while also trying to save his family. With the help of his shamisen (magical musical instrument) Kubo must battle monsters and gods, including the Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and evil twin sisters (Rooney Mara). ...
