Love In Later Life Analysis
Love in Later Life: Albert and Marion The film Love.Etc studies five New York couples and
illustrates the diversity of their relationships, while also capturing the progress and tribulations of each
individual journey. The film was made in 2010 and continues to be an example of love in today s
society. Focusing specifically on the elderly couple, Albert and Marion, their relationship is an
example of the many aspects that make up the Family Systems theory. By observing their relationship
from the film, Albert and Marion s marriage provides the audience with the information to detect the
characteristics of the following themes: relationship status, communication style, stressors and
strengths
Background
Albert and Marion both were raised on the same block in Brooklyn, New York. The young couple
shared a love for music. Albert played both the piano and accordion, while Marion had the talent of
writing lyrics. The couple did not meet until ten years after residing on the same street. Albert was
looking for a lyricist and Marion wanted someone to play the instrumental to her music. Once Albert
put a sign in his window stating this, the two had began their relationship. Together the couple has
spent 50 years making music and have made it a goal to attempt to make their music known and
publish a hit song. By 2010, Albert and Marion had been married for 48 years. At one point, Marion
mentions that Albert has loved her children like his own, indicating that he is not the father.

Commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. at University of...
PART I
Write a paragraph about why you think the University of Michigan devotes part of every January to
commemorate the life and work of Martin Luther King. Use the following articles to help you.
Above all, University of Michigan commemorates Martin Luther Kink to honor his work and memory.
It is because of people like him and other civil rights leaders that African Americans have been
afforded the multitude of opportunities that they have today. King stood for not only blacks but for all
people, including the disadvantaged and impoverished, and believed in the power of a divisive society
creating a unified society, of bloody riots being transformed into peaceful gatherings. He believed in

3) What did you like about the event? What did you dislike? What did you learn from the event (BE
SPECIFIC)?
I really enjoyed the fact that Deval Patrick did not just lecture the audience but told stories of his own
past and integrated many valuable lessons that tied back to Dr. King s ideals within his stories. He
shared his struggles as a child, fighting to make ends meet. He was supported and guided by his
teachers allowed him to imagine what it would like to be like to be a citizen of the world. His words
were very clear, concise and inspirational. I also enjoyed his honest and acuteness during the Q A. He
always responded to every question by addressing the person who questioned him by his/her first
name. I particular enjoyed his response to a question asking for his view on the policy of expulsion
and suspension of African American youths in Massachusetts. He replied that educational success
does not depend on one path. Small classes matter. A student s behavior of misconduct may be due to
the fact that the child is hungry, distracted or scared. It is vital to realize that children are hungry for
the attention of adults to notice them care for them and love them something that they may not be
receiving from their own home. My only negative comment would be that the presenter s speech that
introduced Mr. Patrick and list off all his accomplishments was very long and not

Questions On English And Russian
In this essay, I will be discussing my experiences with modals in English and Russian. The purpose of
my project is to investigate the differences in the usage and meanings of modals between the two
languages. My focus will be on the modal, must, and what contexts it is mainly used for. I will start by
discussing what was particularly challenging about this project. Modals are a highly complex area of
grammar both in English and Russian. Several of the texts I have consulted for my project remark on
the difficulty of teaching and learning modals. In English, there is a certain level of ambiguity when it
comes to the meanings of modals. Depending on what context they are used in, modals can mean
several different things and fall into two main categories: epistemic of deontic (Haan, 1995). The
modal I am focusing on, must or dolžen, corresponds semantically only to the root or fictive modals in
English. This fact is the very core of great pedagogical difficulty in teaching these Russian modal
auxiliaries to English speaking students (Croft, 1975). Initially, it was challenging even finding
articles about Russian modals. The articles I discovered did not have a comprehensive list of Russian
modals which made it more difficult to understand. This area of grammar is widely studied in English,
but not so in Russian. Corpus investigations of modality in other languages is lagging behind, (Haan,
1995) which is why it was difficult to find a Russian corpus to analyze for

Teen Identity
The teen film genre aims to shatter the construct or provide moments of self discovery to symbolize
how teens react against the adult world and struggles within society. At the end of the film the high
school a voiceover of Brian reading out a letter written by him to Mr Vernon, the teacher, effectively
embodies the teen process of finding their identity:
You see us as you want to see us in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions: a brain, an
athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Correct?
That s the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed.
The opening scene acts as commentary to a universal struggle: the relationship between teenagers and
their parents. Immediately, they are classified by their stereotypical high school identities which
ultimately analyzes the social class. After the opening credits, the camera focuses on the front of a
Mercedes Benz car, a swank sedan (Wood, 1986), framing its logo in close up to emphasise the wealth
of the owner, a character who is successful in Reagan s capitalist America. Claire and her father are
the occupants and her role as the rich popular girl or the princess is immediately established. Her
father s clothes reinforces their wealthy status as he wears a Burberry scarf and a Brooks Brothers suit
(Wood 1986). Claire is depicted as pretty, pristine, clean cut and exudes an elite nonchalance (Shary,
2002). But her true character is revealed as more complex and infused with a

Discuss the Processes Available in Alternative Dispute...
Discuss the processes available in alternative dispute resolution and explain its advantages and
disadvantages
Alternative Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) includes methods of processes and techniques that are used to
resolve disputes or disagreements outside the jurisdiction of the law. As explained by Paul Latimer (p
51 of the Australian Business Law CCH Handbook 2006) The Alternative Dispute Resolution
Association of Australia has defined ADR as meaning ¡§dispute resolution by processes:
a) which encourage disputants to reach their own solution and
b) in which the primary role of the third party neutral is to facilitate the disputants to do so.¡¨

It is regulated by the Commercial Arbitration Acts on a state and international level. Parties resolve
through arbitration when negotiation, mediation or conciliation fail to provide the desired agreement
or when a referral by a judge is made.
The aim of an arbitration is to get finality and an enforceable award.
Some key advantages for arbitration is the avoidance of publicity (for reason of proceedings
conducted in privacy); avoidance of delay in having the dispute settled; and for technical disputes,
technical experts can be appointed with the right qualifications to handle matters with higher levels of
complexity.
Arbitration is generally viewed outside of the definition of ADR as its decisions are binding and
regulated by legislation. The government has created many facilities to lower legal costs (it¡¦s most
notable advantage over litigation) and can be viewed as a positive attribute to the modern legal
system.
The discussion of the commercial arbitration is evident with many authors in their writings. In
particular, Terry Guigni, Business, Society and the Law (2003) outline the critical views on its purpose
and how the promise has been compromised. Negativity does flow through due to

Relationship Between Relationships And Relationships
People interact constantly so human relationships are everywhere in life and in literature.
Relationships are all around, even if it is not obvious. Relationships can range anywhere from friends
to marriages. There are many different types of relationships, (comma or semicolon?) none of which
are alike. Although, most people see relationships as good, some of them are bad and unhealthy. They
can sometimes cause major problems that affect the people involved and others too. Relationships can
also be between groups of people. Many stories have racism in them which is a perfect example of bad
relationships with groups of people. Almost all good stories have relationships in them which shows
that relationships are vital to American Literature. Having relationships is common and natural. People
interact daily so the formation of new relationships is unavoidable(Welch). C. Welch created good
questions concerning human nature and relationships like, Should we conform or be original? What is
the best way to live together? and How do we deal with death? The questions about life can also be
used in literature. There are many basic questions that could be ask to find out the main theme, why it
is the theme, and what other less important themes are when dealing with relationships in
stories(Welch). Relationships are important enough that some stories are based almost solely on
relationships. Problems with relationships helped create the plot of the story in The Crucible, by

7 New Approaches and Education for the Success of Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems
There is a common thinking in the academia and professional arenas that the solution to the untreated
wastewater discharges into our water bodies can be prevented or mitigated mainly with the
construction of wastewater sewer collection systems and wastewater treatment plants. Part of the
purpose of this research is to revisit and analyze the benefits of using decentralized wastewater
treatment technologies and evaluate the latest wastewater treatment technologies available.
7.1 Overview of Centralized Wastewater Treatment Systems Infrastructure
It is also of common knowledge that our nation s wastewater treatment infrastructure is widely
recognized to be in serious overhaul, if not outright replacement. (Crawford 2011). Also it is known
that wastewater management does not figure among the environmental legal and regulatory matters
that command public attention, despite the direct human and environmental health impacts of
wastewater infrastructure failures, to say nothing of the unsavory nature of ruptured sewage lines and
massive sewage spills, with their attendant harms for both land and water pollution (Crawford 2011).
This is due to a lack of knowledge and education to the public concerning this serious threat. A serious
national wastewater treatment crisis is imminent. The need to address our wastewater infrastructure
deficiencies is urgent and not only for the centralized

Why Should Human Cloning Be Banned
Introduction Cloning is the process of manipulating DNA and embryonic stem cells to create an
identical living organism. The purpose of cloning is to find medical treatments and to reduce human
suffering (Rosalyn). Is it wrong? Is it disrespectful toward nature itself? According to Sir John
Gordon, cloning is not as playing God it is simply copying what nature has already produced
(Gordon). This new development established a series of debates because if there are technologies that
enable humans to artificially create mammal, sooner or later the same process will be performed on
human. This points to the question, should human cloning be banned? (Cloning: An Overview). Even
though there are numerous critics who believe human cloning ... Show more content on

Overtime the fusions between cells occur and form an embryo. This could lead to the transfer of
healthy cell in an unborn child who contains diseases due to genetics from the parents. Unfortunately
the research was banned. There are a lot of obstacles standing between the researches of human
cloning that could possibly save many lives.
Diseases such as Alzheimer and cardiovascular diseases can be cured by the process of cloning.
Scientists have discovered a method of creating stem cells (an unspecialized cell that has the ability to
become any various differentiated cell) from an embryo. Genetic copies of DNA from a living healthy
person are inserted into an egg which divides in the process of cell division or meiosis, and grows into
an embryo. If the process is successful, stem cells are then extracted, with the healthy gene placed in
the DNA, the cells can divides and produce a healthful system. This whole procedure is for the
purpose of improving treatment. However, this action puts fear into a lot of people s minds of using
stem cells for other purposes (Healy). Stem cells can be produced for the desire of new treatments has
the potential to fight viruses in the human system and the prosperity will soon outweighed the terror of
human cloning.
Therapeutic cloning has the potential use stem cells to cure diseases. Although there are many benefits
the process of obtaining stem cells depends upon the massacre of the embryo. Nonetheless the benefits

Post-impressionism and Artists
Impressionism was a movement that came about in the late 19th century, most specifically its roots
can be traced back the 1874 when a group called the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors,
Printmakers, etc. organized an exhibition in Paris. (Samu, 2004). The group led several exhibitions
through the 1880 s which brought them into the spot light despite criticism from the conventional art
community in France. The movement received its name from one of the movements most now most
recognized artists Claude Monet and his piece Impression, Sunrise. It is said that a critic accused the
painting of being a sketch or impression . (Samu, 2004) Paintings of this period tended to be outdoor
scenes and panoramas. My Grandfather, Lawrence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These artists felt that impressionism was missing many key elements including emotional, structural,
symbolic and spiritual representation. (Misialowski, 2006) Artists of this time frame worked, in most
cases, independently and today are most often referred to as Post Impressionists. The style was
defined by vibrant colors, thick paint application, real life subject matter, geometric shapes, and
distortion of objects figures for expressive emotional effect. Some of the key artists of this time
included: Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat. Aristide Maillol and
Edouard Vuillard.
One of my favorite pieces of this time comes of course from van Gogh. The piece is titled
Straßenarbeiter which means Road Workers. The imagery of this piece is rough and course with
distorted views and sharp lines. The shapes of the trees almost draw you away from the what the piece
is actually titled after, the road workers who are shown off in the distance and then again on the left
edge of the painting. The colors give the image a dark look like it is depicting a late fall day with the
workers frantically trying to complete the task before the onset of winter.
Again, like the impressionism movement, there was not really a prime reason for this movement other
than the artists wants to more freely express themselves through their work. The social climate of the
times were changing allowing for

Racial And Ethnic Health Disparities
Summary of Findings
Racial and ethnic health disparities have been a topic on the rise as of late. According to Flores (2010),
little attention has been shown to ethic and racial health disparities in children. For example, only 5 of
103 studies in the Institute of Medicine s extensive review any findings, studies, or literature address
health disparities of racial or ethnic issues dealing with children (Flores, 2010). These disparities are
and persistent, and happen across the many categories of health and health care. The objective of this
study was to review as many off the published literatures on these racial and ethnic health disparities.
Health disparities of children are not limited to obesity. They also include immunization, physical

During 1893, in Rhineland, Wisconsin a mythical beast had emerged from the wilderness. Eugene
Shepard, who was a local resident and elder in Rhineland, was out on his weekly hike when he
stumbled across an odd creature. This creature was green, about a foot tall, seven feet long, and
weighed about 200 hundred pounds. It had razor sharp teeth like a saber tooth tiger, white long claws,
spikes of all sizes running all down its spine, and red glowing eyes that one could not help but stare
into. Not sure what to do, Shepard hurried back to town to tell everyone his discovery. Town folk and
lumberjacks gathered weapons, guns, and dogs to search for this newly discovered Hodag. He led his

Gold In North Carolina
In 1799, an event occurred in the southern Piedmont that made North Carolina a very desirable place
to live the discovery of gold! Long ago a stone/rock was found in Cabarrus County, North Carolina by
Conrad Reed at Little Meadow Creek. The Conrad family who found this rock didn t know what it
was or who it belonged to or neither did they know what it was made out of. The family looked at the
rock and found out it was a seventeen pound rock made of gold but now called a golden nugget. After
all, they found more gold that came from the creek eventually this made the Conrad s family and

Humphrey Bissell, of Charleston, bought part of the McCombie Mine and brought with him not only
new technology but also men experienced in South American mining. Many of the immigrants who
came to North Carolina during the gold rush were single men young or middle aged, ambitions, and
hardworking. Unaccompanied by women or children, they were able to move freely from one mining
area to another. When gold was found in other southern states and then in California in 1848, many
moved out of the area. The Cornish miners, however, had often moved with their families. They were
known to be skilled, superstitious, clannish, and strongly Methodist. Unlike the single prospectors
who followed the gold to California, the Yukon, and beyond, many of these Cornish miners and their
families stayed in North Carolina, in the lode mining centers of Charlotte and especially Gold Hill in
Rowan County.
The Cornish culture is a unique culture within Great Britain, much like the Welsh or Scottish, with its
own dialect and customs. But because the Cornish also spoke English, they and their descendants
quickly melded into American life, and their cultural influence is not easy to Pinpoint. The influence
that they had on North Carolina s emerging industries, however, is unmistakable. In the early 1800s,
North Carolina acquired the nickname The Rip Van Winkle State , because so little progress was made

In this, the dusk of the 20th century, to whom has the task of Benjamin s storyteller fallen? One such
contemporary storyteller is African American writer Toni Morrison, who in her novel Beloved brings
our present face to face with the image of the smashed bodies of Black slaves, forcing us to re member
and account for their experiences.
I
Benjamin has identified the catastrophe of history with the loss of communicable experience and
hence meaning in human life. The processes initiated in the Enlightenment, perpetuated in the rise of
positivistic philosophy, and culminating in the horrors of World War I have stripped humanity of its
experiential reality.
It is as if something that seemed inalienable to us, the securest among our possessions, were taken
from us: the ability to exchange experiences. . . For never has experience been contradicted more
thoroughly than strategic experience by tactical warfare, economic experience by inflation, bodily
experience by mechanical warfare, moral experience by those in power (Illuminations, 83 84).
What is lost is the art of the storyteller who, in the telling of the stories of a culture, passed on the
tradition from one generation to the next and with it the wisdom of experience. This wisdom is
nothing less than the knowledge and skill necessary to integrate the experiences contained in tradition
into the real lives of the listeners, to make them conscious of history.

Advantage Of Globalization
Today, globalization concepts are mainly used in three areas: social, economic, and political. Because
of globalization, an increase in the mobility of goods and people, communications, corporations, and
standard of living has occurred but also a loss of culture and environmental issues, too. Some people
view globalization as a way of the future while others see it as the source of current global dissent.
Globalization is both a boon and a curse when it comes to international trade, wealth, labor, and
cultures however it has been impacted and influenced the most by economic interactions. When it
comes to the advantages, globalization has touched all the three areas to some extent. For example,
economically NAFTA, an organization between USA, Canada, and Mexico for free trade, has led to a
creation of jobs in less developed countries. The creation of free trades has caused the prices of goods
to lower and has increased trade and ideas. Also, multinational corporations such as Mcdonald s,
Disney and more have made products to be found across the globe. When viewing the advantages
politically, foreign policy has played a big role in which it builds relationships with other nations and
stronger political and economic locations. Overall, foreign policy has helped keep country s safe,
discourage war, benefit from natural resources from other nations, and maintain ideology. Examples
such as the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015, which told Iran to stop its nuclear program, shows how foreign
policy has been positively affected. Nation s promoting nationalism and democracy has also been a
positive effect politically. In addition, the use of international aids has helped countries like Haiti in
need of relief effort. Finally, social interactions like the spread of language and culture, and global
sports competitions have greatly impacted society in numerous ways. The spread of the English
language due to the British colonization has now made English a dominant language, which makes
communications easier than ever before. In addition, the spread of culture has influenced others across
the world and has the people more open minded overall. On the other hand, global sports competitions

Meaning and Identity in Public Art While visiting the Capitol Square, I felt like I had stepped back

the art was that I observed, and why the building was placed where it now stands. Anyone who

deal of wealth, be it in knowledge or money, and tremendous authority. The Greeks saw their rulers as
being next to godliness, and in a way, the people who work here are our rulers. The subject of the art
that I observed had a theme of peace, war, nobility, and discovery. The first statue I saw was a large
monument made of bronze and marble. The monument featured Ulysses S. Grant, James A. Garfield,
Phillip Sheridan, William T.
Sherman, Rutherford B. Hayes, Salmon Chase, and Edwin Stanton standing under a
Greek goddess (who resembles Ceres because she is surrounded by bushels of wheat and grains) with
a quote under her that says These are my jewels . These men were by far the greatest men to come

to see in bronze at the Capitol. The next monument I saw was a huge angel in bronze that included an
inscription about peace.
Then, on another side of the building, there are two monuments to the soldiers that went to fight at

her financial means, keeping the children in poverty and bringing Mamba into poverty herself. AIDS
weakens not one person, but a whole community when it strikes.
Additionally, Siphiew Hlophe and Andualem Ayalew were both denied opportunities to improve
themselves with study abroad programs due to their HIV positive status. This bonds the people to their
current positions, giving them no hope for the future and detracting for their potential to contribute to
society and to make a comfortable life for themselves.
Likewise, HIV/AIDS also takes away educational opportunities from the younger generations. For
instance, Lefa Khoele, a very intelligent young boy, was forced to stay behind many years due to
sicknesses caused HIV, hindering his full development. In these instances, AIDS causes poverty by
barring individuals from achieving proper educations and ameliorating their capital worth. When even
the younger generation is affected, hope for the future is truly grim. Families must rely on older
individuals, like Mamba, who have escaped the epidemic unscathed.
The low income due to HIV/AIDS leads to low consumption of goods and little savings, which results
in malnutrition, inability to combat illness and a lack of education and skills. The low capital worth,

Channel Islands Invaded By Simon Hamon
C. Evaluation of Sources
Channel Islands Invaded compiled by Simon Hamon is a collection of first hand accounts from the
citizens living on the Channel Islands during the German occupation from 1940 to 1945. The purpose
of the compilation is to reveal the personal thoughts of those involved in the occupation and report the
daily occurrences on the Channel Islands. The book s values are evinced in the compilation of sources
that were in close proximity to the occupation. Primary sources of the document provide unaltered
perspectives of the islanders. The authors of the sources give the perspective of a variety of social
classes, from officials to regular people. The limitations are shown through the possibility of
censorship by the British or German governments to hide the true nature of the occupation. As some
documents are taken from public debates and newspapers, opinions may be sensationalized to
persuade citizens into supporting a cause, while the perspective of the occupiers is not shown as
prevalently as that of the citizens.
The British Channel Islands Under German Occupation, 1940 1945 by Paul Sanders is a study of the
German occupation of the Channel Islands from 1940 to 1945 written and published in 2005 in Great
Britain. The purpose of the book is to assess the occupation with a holistic viewpoint in examining the
lives of citizens to rectify misconceptions about the event and present alternative views. The values
are evinced in its objectivity in assessing the

Abstract
An Adverse event is defined as any undesirable event that a patient experiences while taking a
medication. This includes many things, such as a motor vehicle collision or falling down the stairs. An
Adverse event is different from an Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR). An Adverse Drug Reaction, as
defined by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, is a response to a medicinal
product that is noxious or unintended1. These adverse reactions may be an already known side effect
or a new side effect not previously recognized. ADRs are very burdensome to the patient s wellbeing,
they increase healthcare cost, and roughly half of the reactions may be preventable.
Introduction
The following case report discusses a Type B ADR to Celecoxib of a 54 year old female and the
events that led to the diagnosis and treatment. Celecoxib is a non steroidal anti inflammatory medicine
that inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase 2. This drug is indicated
for acute pain, primary dysmenorrhea, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid
arthritis.3 The patient had been prescribed a therapeutic dose of Celecoxib for osteoarthritis and was
tolerating the medicine up until the ADR. Although the diagnosis was discovered, there were
challenges that led to the delay in

Pros And Cons Of Recession In The United States
What are the main arguments and the reasons and rationalizations that need to be addressed? Due to
the recession the company is experiencing a decline in profits, however, the business remains
profitable. Potentially, the recession could continue and business may decline further. A proactive plan
is better than being reactive in regards to addressing the declining profits. Layoffs are the quickest and
easiest solution to the issue. On the other hand, the success of the company is in large part due to the
hard work of the staff who would lose their employment. In addition, it must be determined who
would perform the work of the dismissed employees and if the company would be able to function
without them. Moreover, the morale and productivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dennis is at the forefront of this issue presenting the pros and cons of the layoffs and his position may
be at stake if it is perceived he is not utilizing appropriate judgement. The employees being laid off are
major stakeholders as their means of living in jeopardy. In addition, as a result of the layoffs, the local
economy will be effected. The culture of inclusiveness was one of the things that attracted Dennis to
the company and the layoffs could seriously damage the institutions culture (Gentile, 2009). What
levers and arguments can be used to influence those who disagree with you? Layoffs are not always
the best solution for a decline in company profits. A business must resolve the conflict that exists
between their responsibility to meet economic targets and the ethical responsibility of non
maleficence. Furthermore, it must be determined if the layoffs would even maximize stakeholder
welfare from a utilitarian perspective (Arce Xin Li, 2011). What is the most powerful and persuasive
response you can give to the reasons and rationalizations? What exactly will you say to use your voice

Analysis of Symbolism in How to Read Literature Like a Professor How to read Literature like a
Professor by Thomas C. Foster is a very helpful book that goes over multiple literary strategies on
how to read literature like a professor or someone with his literary skill. . With all of these literary
strategies, symbolism is one that recurs frequently the throughout the entire book. Foster s use of
different techniques of symbolism help the reader understand different meanings behind what writers
say. These techniques that Foster uses weather, from rain to fog, and the seasons. Weather and seasons
are an amazing example of symbolism in literary works. In chapter 9, It s ... Show more content on

Cleansing rain can symbolize a change in someone. This change can be symbolized as a mental
awakening or change in a characteristic, big or small. Changes can include the way someone sees
themself or society. Liekt the lady in Song of Solomon , her cleansing rain washed away her false
ideal of beauty and left behind what beauty truly was. Cleansing rain can also symbolize becoming
stained , or having a negative change in a characteristic. This is through cleansing rain making a
puddle of mud created from this rain. Fog is also an event in weather that is symbolized. Fog
symbolizes confusion or a clouded mind. Characters may say that they have a foggy memory, meaning
they don t remember something that previously happened. Fog can also confusion. This is seen
through Scooby Doo, since a lot of the mysterious places that their gang visits re clouded by fog,
symbolizing the mysteriousness in where their location. Floods and rain aren t the only thing that is
symbolized in weather, seasons also play an important role when trying to symbolize a literary piece.
In chapter 20, ... So Does Seasons, Foster talks about seasons and what they symbolize. To
summarize, spring represents new life. Spring symbolizes youth and childhood. Summer represents
adulthood, romance, fulfillment, etc... Autumn represents decline, middle age, and tiredness. Winter

From The Frying Pan Into The Fire Analysis
Nowadays, doing work seems to be inseparable from everyone s daily life throughout their whole
lifetime. Basically, work means any activity or actions that people use their energy to accomplish
something, and it could represent people s effort in both physical and mental levels. For instance,
when people are teenagers, they usually do the housework and schoolwork. As for the reasons why
people do such works, people are always told by others like their parents and their teachers that: doing
housework, like sweeping the floor and cleaning the dishes, enables teenagers gaining basic skills at
home, and helps them alleviate some social pressure of their parents; doing schoolwork, like writing
essays and making presentations, improves students academic performance, and plays a significant
role in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, it seems to be unacceptable for us to regard people s blind pursuit of work as merely a
way of earning for their families. Thus, in order to explore the true reasons why people do work and
how they value work, both authors give out their own explanation. Arlie Russell Hochschild, a
professor emerita of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, observes in her reading of
From the Frying Pan into the Fire that no longer people value works as purely family obligations that
encourage people to work for supporting their families, people right now tend to value doing work as
ways to have satisfied lives. And Kenji Yoshino, a professor of constitutional law at NYU School of
Law, describes in his writing of Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights that covering is
work, meaning that in order to be accepted by others who may come from different environment,
people tend to cover some of their distinctiveness by using their emotional and physical

Distinctively Visual Image Page 52 On the other side of our barbed wire fence were twenty or thirty
Aussie men as skinny as us and wearing slouch hats. Unlike the Japs, they had hairy legs. And they
were standing in rows serenading us. John Misto created a written visual image that comes through in
Act 1 Scene 7 (Page 52). This is brought up in the play when Bridie and Sheila are being interviewed
by Rick (Host), they were originally talking about the conditions that they were in, how they were
starved and the lack of nutrition, this then moves on to how they sang through the hunger at
Christmas. The Japanese then allowed the Australian men to visit the nurses, while the nurses sang a
Christmas carol them. The Japs let us do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very important for the story because it is what keeps them strong and keeps them moving
forward without giving up, it s the image of them being able to grasp them emotionally and give them
motivation to continue on til the end of the war, the visual of this can assist the audience and allow the
viewer to be empathic to the POWs. The constant contrasting between the Japanese and the
Australians means it is a permanent competition between who is the superior race. The reference to
the how hairy the legs were of the men meant that they were trying to put down the Japanese. Unlike
the Japs, they had hairy legs is referring to the Australian men having hairy legs; this can allude to the
Australians being more manly . This contrasting is an allusion from the Japanese to the Australians,
making it appear as if the Japanese are not manly , this could further allude to attitude that the
Australians hold of the Japanese, they are inferior to the white society. Bridie could be implying that
the Australians are superior of the Japanese, being more of a man for having more hair than them
could be a symbol for cultural supremacy. This gives the audience a distinctively visual image of the
play because it is the key to the cultural separation, appearance as well as culture is key reason why
people are so divided and the

The Philosophy And Philosophy Of Philosophies In Field Hockey
What is a philosophy and why is it such a controversial topic amongst coaches from all sporting
sectors across the globe? A philosophy is A theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle for
behaviour (Oxford University Press, 2017). I will personally be analysing the apparent necessity of
philosophies in sport, predominantly in field hockey. I have played the sport for over a decade, had my
fair share of coaches in which I can safely say no two were remotely similar and I think this is not due
to the fact that they had different methods of coaching but in fact due to their own individual
philosophies towards coaching. What also became clear to me during long terms periods with certain
individual coaches is that a philosophy is not set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel as if instead of the players moulding to the coach s philosophy, they must mould their
philosophy to them. Hockey can be an extremely dangerous sport if it is not taught correctly as I have
witnessed many horrific injuries which could have been avoided if the player were given clearer
guidance which is the responsibility of the coach. In order to coach thoroughly they must not view the
team generally but instead view each player on the hockey field as an individual with distinct
personalities and various personal lives. The relationship that exists between a player and a coach is
vital for the hockey player to excel in their field. For a strong coach athlete relationship to exist the
coach must first understand the athlete and acknowledge that they are not robots and have feelings.
They must understand that an athlete may not always be up to taking on the task at hand physically or
even mentally and because of this the coach must have a certain level of lenience and compassion
towards their athletes as a poor relationship may inhibit the athlete s performance as well as the coach
s ability to teach (Mageau Vallerand, 2003). As hockey is such a fast paced sport that players must be
able to react to an action within a split second as lot of rapid actions and reactions are involved in
hockey. This is something which the coach must allow for in his method or philosophy to allow for
improvement in their mental abilities which will positively affect their physical abilities, once again,
improving their overall performance on the field. This also cements the idea of coaches having
philosophies as this effects the coach s attitude towards preparing sessions and their relationship with
the athlete is an aspect which affects their behaviour meaning it is part of their

Above all, University of Michigan commemorates Martin Luther Kink to honor his work and memory. It is because of people like him and other civil rights leaders that African Americans have been afforded the multitude of opportunities that they have today. I really enjoyed the fact that Deval Patrick did not just lecture the audience but told stories of his own past and integrated many valuable lessons that tied back to Dr. King s ideals within his stories. He shared his struggles as a child, fighting to make ends meet. He was supported and guided by his teachers allowed him to imagine what it would like to be like to be a citizen of the world. His words were very clear, concise and inspirational. I also enjoyed his honest and acuteness during the Q A. He always responded to every question by addressing the person who questioned him by his/her first name. I particular enjoyed his response to a question asking for his view on the policy of expulsion and suspension of African American youths in Massachusetts. He replied that educational success does not depend on one path. Small classes matter. A student s behavior of misconduct may be due to the fact that the child is hungry, distracted or scared. It is vital to realize that children are hungry for the attention of adults to notice them care for them and love them something that they may not be receiving from their own home. • 4. Questions On English And Russian In this essay, I will be discussing my experiences with modals in English and Russian. The purpose of my project is to investigate the differences in the usage and meanings of modals between the two languages. My focus will be on the modal, must, and what contexts it is mainly used for. I will start by discussing what was particularly challenging about this project. Modals are a highly complex area of grammar both in English and Russian. Several of the texts I have consulted for my project remark on the difficulty of teaching and learning modals. In English, there is a certain level of ambiguity when it comes to the meanings of modals. Depending on what context they are used in, modals can mean several different things and fall into two main categories: epistemic of deontic (Haan, 1995). The modal I am focusing on, must or dolžen, corresponds semantically only to the root or fictive modals in English. This fact is the very core of great pedagogical difficulty in teaching these Russian modal auxiliaries to English speaking students (Croft, 1975). Initially, it was challenging even finding articles about Russian modals. The articles I discovered did not have a comprehensive list of Russian modals which made it more difficult to understand. This area of grammar is widely studied in English, but not so in Russian. Corpus investigations of modality in other languages is lagging behind, (Haan, 1995) which is why it was difficult to find a Russian corpus to analyze for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the film the high school a voiceover of Brian reading out a letter written by him to Mr Vernon, the teacher, effectively embodies the teen process of finding their identity: You see us as you want to see us in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions: a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Correct? That s the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed. The opening scene acts as commentary to a universal struggle: the relationship between teenagers and their parents. Immediately, they are classified by their stereotypical high school identities which ultimately analyzes the social class. After the opening credits, the camera focuses on the front of a Mercedes Benz car, a swank sedan (Wood, 1986), framing its logo in close up to emphasise the wealth of the owner, a character who is successful in Reagan s capitalist America. Claire and her father are the occupants and her role as the rich popular girl or the princess is immediately established. Her father s clothes reinforces their wealthy status as he wears a Burberry scarf and a Brooks Brothers suit (Wood 1986). Relationships are all around, even if it is not obvious. Relationships can range anywhere from friends to marriages. There are many different types of relationships, (comma or semicolon?) none of which are alike. Although, most people see relationships as good, some of them are bad and unhealthy. They can sometimes cause major problems that affect the people involved and others too. Relationships can also be between groups of people. Many stories have racism in them which is a perfect example of bad relationships with groups of people. Almost all good stories have relationships in them which shows that relationships are vital to American Literature. Having relationships is common and natural. People interact daily so the formation of new relationships is unavoidable(Welch). C. Welch created good questions concerning human nature and relationships like, Should we conform or be original? What is the best way to live together? and How do we deal with death? The questions about life can also be used in literature. There are many basic questions that could be ask to find out the main theme, why it is the theme, and what other less important themes are when dealing with relationships in stories(Welch). Diseases such as Alzheimer and cardiovascular diseases can be cured by the process of cloning. Scientists have discovered a method of creating stem cells (an unspecialized cell that has the ability to become any various differentiated cell) from an embryo. Genetic copies of DNA from a living healthy person are inserted into an egg which divides in the process of cell division or meiosis, and grows into an embryo. If the process is successful, stem cells are then extracted, with the healthy gene placed in the DNA, the cells can divides and produce a healthful system. This whole procedure is for the purpose of improving treatment. However, this action puts fear into a lot of people s minds of using stem cells for other purposes (Healy). • 10. Post-impressionism and Artists Impressionism was a movement that came about in the late 19th century, most specifically its roots can be traced back the 1874 when a group called the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Printmakers, etc. organized an exhibition in Paris. (Samu, 2004). The group led several exhibitions through the 1880 s which brought them into the spot light despite criticism from the conventional art community in France. The movement received its name from one of the movements most now most recognized artists Claude Monet and his piece Impression, Sunrise. The style was defined by vibrant colors, thick paint application, real life subject matter, geometric shapes, and distortion of objects figures for expressive emotional effect. Some of the key artists of this time included: Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat. Aristide Maillol and Edouard Vuillard. One of my favorite pieces of this time comes of course from van Gogh. The piece is titled Straßenarbeiter which means Road Workers. The imagery of this piece is rough and course with distorted views and sharp lines. The shapes of the trees almost draw you away from the what the piece is actually titled after, the road workers who are shown off in the distance and then again on the left edge of the painting. The colors give the image a dark look like it is depicting a late fall day with the workers frantically trying to complete the task before the onset of winter. One such contemporary storyteller is African American writer Toni Morrison, who in her novel Beloved brings our present face to face with the image of the smashed bodies of Black slaves, forcing us to re member and account for their experiences. I Benjamin has identified the catastrophe of history with the loss of communicable experience and hence meaning in human life. The processes initiated in the Enlightenment, perpetuated in the rise of positivistic philosophy, and culminating in the horrors of World War I have stripped humanity of its experiential reality. It is as if something that seemed inalienable to us, the securest among our possessions, were taken from us: the ability to exchange experiences. . . Because of globalization, an increase in the mobility of goods and people, communications, corporations, and standard of living has occurred but also a loss of culture and environmental issues, too. Some people view globalization as a way of the future while others see it as the source of current global dissent. Globalization is both a boon and a curse when it comes to international trade, wealth, labor, and cultures however it has been impacted and influenced the most by economic interactions. When it comes to the advantages, globalization has touched all the three areas to some extent. For example, economically NAFTA, an organization between USA, Canada, and Mexico for free trade, has led to a creation of jobs in less developed countries. The creation of free trades has caused the prices of goods to lower and has increased trade and ideas. Also, multinational corporations such as Mcdonald s, Disney and more have made products to be found across the globe. When viewing the advantages politically, foreign policy has played a big role in which it builds relationships with other nations and stronger political and economic locations. Overall, foreign policy has helped keep country s safe, discourage war, benefit from natural resources from other nations, and maintain ideology. Examples such as the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015, which told Iran to stop its nuclear program, shows how foreign policy has been positively affected. Nation s promoting nationalism and democracy has also been a positive effect politically. In addition, the use of international aids has helped countries like Haiti in need of relief effort. Finally, social interactions like the spread of language and culture, and global sports competitions have greatly impacted society in numerous ways. The spread of the English language due to the British colonization has now made English a dominant language, which makes communications easier than ever before. In addition, the spread of culture has influenced others across the world and has the people more open minded overall. • 30. From The Frying Pan Into The Fire Analysis Nowadays, doing work seems to be inseparable from everyone s daily life throughout their whole lifetime. Basically, work means any activity or actions that people use their energy to accomplish something, and it could represent people s effort in both physical and mental levels. For instance, when people are teenagers, they usually do the housework and schoolwork. As for the reasons why people do such works, people are always told by others like their parents and their teachers that: doing housework, like sweeping the floor and cleaning the dishes, enables teenagers gaining basic skills at home, and helps them alleviate some social pressure of their parents; doing schoolwork, like writing essays and making presentations, improves students academic performance, and plays a significant role in ... Thus, in order to explore the true reasons why people do work and how they value work, both authors give out their own explanation. Arlie Russell Hochschild, a professor emerita of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, observes in her reading of From the Frying Pan into the Fire that no longer people value works as purely family obligations that encourage people to work for supporting their families, people right now tend to value doing work as ways to have satisfied lives. And Kenji Yoshino, a professor of constitutional law at NYU School of Law, describes in his writing of Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights that covering is work, meaning that in order to be accepted by others who may come from different environment, people tend to cover some of their distinctiveness by using their emotional and physical ... Unlike the Japs, they had hairy legs. And they were standing in rows serenading us. John Misto created a written visual image that comes through in Act 1 Scene 7 (Page 52). This is brought up in the play when Bridie and Sheila are being interviewed by Rick (Host), they were originally talking about the conditions that they were in, how they were starved and the lack of nutrition, this then moves on to how they sang through the hunger at Christmas. The Japanese then allowed the Australian men to visit the nurses, while the nurses sang a Christmas carol them. The Japs let us do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is very important for the story because it is what keeps them strong and keeps them moving forward without giving up, it s the image of them being able to grasp them emotionally and give them motivation to continue on til the end of the war, the visual of this can assist the audience and allow the viewer to be empathic to the POWs. The constant contrasting between the Japanese and the Australians means it is a permanent competition between who is the superior race. The reference to the how hairy the legs were of the men meant that they were trying to put down the Japanese. Unlike the Japs, they had hairy legs is referring to the Australian men having hairy legs; this can allude to the Australians being more manly . This contrasting is an allusion from the Japanese to the Australians, making it appear as if the Japanese are not manly , this could further allude to attitude that the Australians hold of the Japanese, they are inferior to the white society. Bridie could be implying that the Australians are superior of the Japanese, being more of a man for having more hair than them could be a symbol for cultural supremacy. This gives the audience a distinctively visual image of the play because it is the key to the cultural separation, appearance as well as culture is key reason why people are so divided and the ... • 32. The Philosophy And Philosophy Of Philosophies In Field Hockey What is a philosophy and why is it such a controversial topic amongst coaches from all sporting sectors across the globe? A philosophy is A theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle for behaviour (Oxford University Press, 2017). I will personally be analysing the apparent necessity of philosophies in sport, predominantly in field hockey. I have played the sport for over a decade, had my fair share of coaches in which I can safely say no two were remotely similar and I think this is not due to the fact that they had different methods of coaching but in fact due to their own individual philosophies towards coaching. What also became clear to me during long terms periods with certain individual coaches is that a philosophy is not set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel as if instead of the players moulding to the coach s philosophy, they must mould their philosophy to them. Hockey can be an extremely dangerous sport if it is not taught correctly as I have witnessed many horrific injuries which could have been avoided if the player were given clearer guidance which is the responsibility of the coach. In order to coach thoroughly they must not view the team generally but instead view each player on the hockey field as an individual with distinct personalities and various personal lives. The relationship that exists between a player and a coach is vital for the hockey player to excel in their field. For a strong coach athlete relationship to exist the coach must first understand the athlete and acknowledge that they are not robots and have feelings. They must understand that an athlete may not always be up to taking on the task at hand physically or even mentally and because of this the coach must have a certain level of lenience and compassion towards their athletes as a poor relationship may inhibit the athlete s performance as well as the coach s ability to teach (Mageau Vallerand, 2003). As hockey is such a fast paced sport that players must be able to react to an action within a split second as lot of rapid actions and reactions are involved in hockey. This is something which the coach must allow for in his method or philosophy to allow for improvement in their mental abilities which will positively affect their physical abilities, once again, improving their overall performance on the field. This also cements the idea of coaches having philosophies as this effects the coach s attitude towards preparing sessions and their relationship with the athlete is an aspect which affects their behaviour meaning it is part of their ...
