was measuring my two point sensitivity, I was blindfolded and had to judge whether or not I felt
one point or two points. We tested these on multiple locations being, the pad of my index finger,
pinky and thumb. We also measured our two point sensitivity on the center of my palm, back of my
hand and the top and bottom of my forearm. We took these measurements by starting the metal

Authors use different genres of writing to portray their literary messages amongst these genres
there are poems and short stories. Battle Royal written by Ralph Ellison is a short story about an
African American boy who receives some cryptic advice from his grandfather that ultimately
causes him to discover that he must stand up for African Americans and not be a coward like his
grandfather was. The poem We Wear the Mask by Paul Dunbar is about dishonesty and
deception, lying about ones feelings and in a sense hiding ones true emotions with a mask. Both
of these forms of writing convey an overall message that people do not always speak the truth
because they are afraid to do so. They hide behind a faГ§ade pretending to be something they are
not, thinking they are doing what is best but in reality are only hurting themselves. The poem, We
Wear the Mask does an overall better job at conveying this message than the short story, Battle
Royal. We Wear the Mask communicates this message in a much clearer and concise manner.
While in Battle Royal, the reader would have to do some research on the time period in order to

The partition of India left a lasting legacy on India politics. Although the British rule was
exploitive, it did much to modernize India (Roskin 336). This all began in 1947 when the British
left India and the state was divided into two separate states. A mostly Hindu India and a mostly
Muslim Pakistan. This caused for massive immigrations on both sides. It also caused a large
divide between the two states causing violence and hatred between the two. There were over half
a million lives lost during the partition (Roskin 331 8). The partition in India lead to Indian
independence. According to Roskin, India won its independence when British colonial rule ended
on August 14th, 1947. This was after the British sent Lord Mountbatten to negotiate, and the
Muslin League insisted on a separate Pakistan. Although this partition was unplanned, bloody, and
hasty, it lead to Indian independence, something that is still celebrated today. This independence
is what makes India have such a strong democracy today. In the biggest democratic election ever,
Indians dumped a worn out centrist party and gave a majority of parliamentary seats to a

thriving in population, while others are on the brink of extinction. All animals have their specialties
in surviving. One such unique animal is the snow leopard. The snow leopard is fighting for its
existence against many obstacles. The snow leopard has many adaptations to its biome. This
animal is very unique and scarce. The snow leopard is indigenous to the mountains of Central
Asia. Their habitat is in total two million kilometers. The habitat crosses twelve different countries.
These countries include China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, India, Bhutan, Mongolia, Nepal,

Before the 20th Century, literature was pretty straightforward; the narrators were reliable, the
timelines were linear, and the perspective was clear, but then somebody got the idea to mix it up.
This is how we got books such as The Great Gatsby and one of our class texts, Orlando. For some,
this was a startling and uncomfortable transition from what used to be considered the, normal
format which was very up front in terms of structure and voice. Others found it to be more
exciting and, while it was still weird and unsettling for those people, it forced people to think
more about what the books were trying to communicate, instead of just being handed the message;

In the movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, many important objects are used to foreshadow
the later events involving protagonist Paikea Apirana, a young girl forbidden by tradition to
become the chief of her tribe. Although the outcome of the film seems quite unprecedented at first,
Director Caro conceals many clues regarding the ending for the audience to discover. She does this
through the use of camera angles, dialogue and props, notably through the use of the rope, the
Taiaha and the Rei Puta. Furthermore, while making links to certain scenes in the movie, Niki Caro
has hidden life lessons and morals regarding discrimination, prejudice and leadership that the
audience can closely relate to and learn from.
Firstly, an important object in Whale Rider is the Rope. It is used to repair a motor, and is used by
Koro to represent the tribe s ancestors. This is shown in the two shot of Koro and Paikea
repairing the motor, and Koro s dialogue tells Paikea that each one of those threads is one of
your ancestors, all joined together and strong . The rope is also important as it foreshadows
Paikea becoming the Chief of the tribe. The rope is said by Koro to symbolise the ancestry and
community of the people of Whangara, but Koro breaks that wire, thus breaking the community.
However, Paikea mends the rope that Koro broke, foreshadowing the mending of the community
