Nra
The National Rifle Association (NRA) As George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton spokesman
once said: Let me make one small vote for the NRA. They re good citizens. They call their
Congressmen. They write. They vote. They contribute. And they get what they want over time.(qtd.
in nra.org) The NRA is indeed all of these things, with programs to benefit a variety of Americans,
sponsorship of one of Americas oldest sports, and as an organization that will stand up for its
political beliefs regarding the Second Amendment. (www.nra.org) Formed in 1872 when military
leaders were disappointed with the marksmanship of their soldiers, the NRA has always faced
political opposition for promoting marksmanship. Although it was founded largely... Show more

(web wonks. org) One of these 3 million NRA members, Gary L. Simmons ( webwonks.org),
clearly illustrates the strong feelings behind the NRA purpose of protecting constitutional rights
by saying: If you can just put aside the demonizing words of a partisan and unabashedly biased
national media for a moment and do your own research into the facts you will see that the Second
Amendment to the constitution of the United States is not an outdated 225 year old mistake that
needs to be erased from the constitution any more than the freedom to assemble peaceably and
yes, even the freedom of speech . The right to keep and bear arms is at least as important as any of
the other amendments in the Bill of Rights that our ancestors have continued to fight and die for to
protect since the founding of this nation. These rights and the body of the Constitution of the
United States of America are vital to maintaining this fragile thing we call freedom. The NRA
Foundations mission statement is also indicative of the purposes of the NRA by stating: [In]
support of a wide range of firearm related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association
of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law
abiding Americans. These activities are designed to promote firearms and hunting

The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics
The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many
nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the
number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an
antibiotic, another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael
Martin, Sapna Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an
increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors
and society (2409).
Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was
discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now
grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common
antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be
attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in
agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains
are evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistancein
bacteria causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream
infections) in all regions of the world (21).
In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic

Le Gleo, Itchoua, and I backed up against the wall. I turned my head to look at the ghastly horror
written on the faces of my mates. I tentatively stepped forward going towards the door where the
rats were gnawing away on the glass. We didn t have much time. Mate! What do you think you

back to the wall pressing my back against the wall staring into the eyes of the swarm of sea rats

Alexander Was A Great King
Alexander was a great king. Not only was he known as Alexander the Great, but he was also
known as a classical leader, and many other things. Since he was young he was taught by a very
intelligent philosopher, Aristotle. He learned so many things that later in life helped him to
become a strong leader. Alexander will always be remembered for the great leader he was.
Alexander was born on July 20 or 21, 356 BC, In Pella, Macedon. He was the son of Philip II of
Macedon and Olympias of Epirus. Alexander s father was the king of Ancient Greek kingdom of
Macedon. He gained his personality traits from the way his parents would influence him. His
mother would encourage him and would always make him believe that his destiny was to conquer

Alexander s father had been murdered. He took over the throne and was already military trained.
Besides taking over the the throne he also gained a strong kingdom, and a well experienced
army. By 334 BC, Alexander had enough ships to cross the Dardanelles, a strait separating Europe
from Asia minor. He invaded the Achaemenid Empire, and ruled Asia minor. He eventually broke
Persia s power in battles. In 326 BC, Alexander conquered India, but was forced to turn back

city named after him though was Alexandria, which is located in Egypt, and became one of the
leading cities in the Mediterranean. After capturing Babylon, Alexander went to a city named Susa,

Why It Is Important To Vote
Why is it important to vote? The reason it s important to vote is because it shows the president
integrity, and we need a leader for our country because there would be total chaos and people
would be getting hurt. There would be no one to stop the stuff that would be going on, and no
one could declare and control people from buying guns if they are a felon. A president needs to
take care of the money system and all of the police, and medical system and how it works. If you
are a adult and you vote you are a good role model. So when your kids get older and they can
vote, and they will know how. By voting you are telling the president that you want him/her, and
that you accept him or her in your life, and it will

The Civil Rights Movement Of Fareed Zakaria s The Rise...
In the following document I have read and researched two different points asked in the assignment.
The first is a summarization and my take on Zakaria s article, along with answered questions from
the assignment. The second is a research portion, provided by the listed sources, about the civil
rights movement. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Zakaria article and it was an eye opener
looking into the civil rights movement.
Fareed Zakaria s The Rise of Illiberal Democracy details his view on elected governments and the
ignorance and abuse of their power. He claims that they do not use their powers in the right way
and instead deny basic civil rights and liberties. Democracy can be defined numerous ways in
different countries. In Zakaria s definition, to paraphrase, a democracy is viewed as a process of
selecting government and is to always mean the rule of the people. In my opinion this definition is
very true when associating democracy with countries such as the one I preside in because we have
the right to vote for the people making decisions in individual states and, most importantly, our
federal government. To have a democracy intuitively means A good government . Following
democracy in the article, Zakaria highlights two other forms of government that contrast to
democracy and where they are used. Constitutional liberalism is not a procedure for selecting
government, but rather the government s goal . This concept of government rule looks out more
for the individual

The audience plays a crucial part here, as they are active participants. It is important that all
participants be knowledgeable, open minded, and respectful. Lastly, the logical perspective relies
on the audience s knowledge of logical patterns such as a cause effect reasoning. The audience in
this case, acts as disinterested and is more of a third party judge (Rybacki 10). Regardless of
perspective, the argumentation for the intended audience must abide by certain ethical standards.
Argumentation is based around the conscious choices of what to say to influence the audience.
Advocates have an ethical responsibility not to deceive their audiences or other arguers by using
obscure or ambiguous language, confusing patterns of organization, or ideas encumbered by
nonessential information or ideas (Rybacki 16). With this said, choosing clear and concrete
language in an organized structure gives the arguer assurance that their message was not
misinterpreted. Honesty is also extremely important in a successful argument, and the arguer should
know their topic thoroughly to avoid false information. Moreover, stating the opposing viewpoints
allows for a more effective and ethical discussion. Efficiency as an ethical standard gives the
advocate the obligation to develop arguments that have the necessary rational power to make their
point (Rybacki 17). Karyn

Pre-Quaternary History
Fires have been involved in shaping the natural world evolving the flora, fauna and landscape
for millions of years. In a synthesis of the Pre Quaternary history of fire by A.C. Scott (2000), he
cites studies showing historically there was charcoal on trees (Beck et al. 1982), charcoal evidence
of wildfires (Scott and Collinson 1978), as well as charcoal rich horizons which are evidence of a
regular firecycle (Falcon Lang, 200; Flacon Lang and Scott, 2000). The Pre Quaternary history of
fire not only showed the presence of fire in the Devonian and Carboniferous periods, long before
the Quaternary period where humans first arrived but it also that this was a global phenomenon
with evidence cited from all around the globe. At the global scale,... Show more content on

The reduction of those fires brought on a decline in various species and an increase in other
species that are adapted to fire suppressed ecosystems (Smith, 2000). Fire regimens alters
habitats and behaviors of many different animals including mammals (Southgate and Masters,
1996; Hobbs and Spotwart, 1984), birds (Russell et al., 2009) reptiles (Russell et al., 1999) and
amphibians (Pilliod, 2003; Russell et al., 1999). This study will focus mainly on the mammal
and bird effects unless the herpetofauna are opportunistically surveyed in large enough
quantities that allow for inferences. By itself, the effects of fire on mammals have been well
studied whether is it small (Leahy et al., 2016; Southgate and Masters, 1996), medium large
(Shaw and Carter, 1990; Hobbs and Spotwart, 1984), a prey species (Newsome et al., 1983;
Vernes, 2000), or predators (Dees et al., 2001). This study will hypothesize fire effects on
mammals in using a mammalian fire and timber harvest review (Fisher and Wilkinson, 2005),
although it should be noted that they do identify a lack of data for the Canids, Felids and Ursids.
In accordance with the review, we hypothesize that rodents, insectivores, ungulates, canids, felids,

No Taxation without Representation Essay
Taxation is an extremely controversial topic in the United States because in order to continue to
enjoy the American comforts of healthcare, social security, national and neighborhood defense,
and regulated clean water and air, to name a few, we continue to increase the demands of our
government without wanting to pay for the supply of services. Remember, money is a currency
and can be used to consume, invest, save, pay loans (including credit cards), or pay taxes. If
asking various families what it means for American s to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness as described in the Declaration of Independence, the responses will vary drastically.

have the same opportunities that we take for granted in this great country. Taxes primary function is
to pay for the government to provide our country with services such as national security,
international relations, environment conservation, space exploration, agriculture stabilization,
housing assistance, transportation infrastructure, education, unemployment assistance, health
assistance, social security, veteran benefits, and administration of justice to name a few. As a
society, there are a few questions that continually arise but are never decided upon. First, which
services are considered merit goods, commodities that the public sector provides free or at a
discounted price in order to encourage consumption (Britannica)? Second, how much of a merit
good should be paid for by the government? Third, should the merit good be publicly or privately
provided? Fourth, if there is a good which is not considered a merit good but has a large positive
externality, should it be government subsidized? Lastly, should the wealthy contribute more taxes
than the poor? I m sure we can all agree that there are some goods that need to be publicly provided
by the government in order to ensure that everyone has a minimum amount of benefit from the

The Priest And The Great King By Lisbeth S. Fried
The Priest and the Great King by Lisbeth S. Fried faces the question as to how the Persians dealt
with the Jews after the absorption of Judea from the conquest of Babylon. The texts from Hebrew
sources suggested the Persian had a sense of reverence for the Jews which was unlike the others.
Attempting to use sources other than the Tanach is difficult as there is not much in the way of
Persian sources concerning the Jews and Judea but there is some.
The province of Judea was called Yehud under Persian rule, and may have been called such
under Babylonian rule. The primary source of Persian kindness to the Jews was found in the
proclamation made by Cyrus. While there is a Persian record of the decree, the actual language is
different than how it is shown in the Tanach. The Cyrus cylinder does not suggest Yehud was
singled out as being freed from slavery nor were they singled out as being permitted to rebuild
temples which were destroyed under Babylonian rule .
All of this opens the door for Frieds s main question, how did Yehud s government change from the
time of conquest under Babylon to the arrival of Alexander the Great. Was it due to some
autonomy given by the king or was it in spite of rules placed by the king, was this change unique;
was there a change at all? The physical damage was minimal, but the psychological damage caused
by the destruction of the temple and the exile of the priests, royal family, and other like individuals
was significant. After Babylon was

In her book Frankenstein, Mary Shelley highlights the fact that society relies more on looks than
personality. She shows this by contrasting her characters C and Victor throughout the novel.
When Victor Frankenstein built C, he selected C s features as beautiful but when C actually
comes to life, Victor is horrified (47). The man runs to his bedroom, somehow falls asleep, and
awakens to find C standing over his bed with an attempted smile on his face. Although Victor s
point of view interprets C s actions as a threat, which is why he runs, there is more evidence to
the fact that C was simply trying to be affectionate to his creator. After his creators rejection, C

and begins to grow increasingly fond of them. Later, a beautiful woman by the name of Safie

small family, and he slowly begins to want one of his own. At the same time, C wonders what
could ve been with his creator, and whether he belonged in this form of society. He formulates a
plan to ask the blind old man if he can come in for warmth and it works. De Lacey is very kind to
C, letting him into his house and starting a conversation. Despite the negative reactions he had
gotten from the rest of society, C dares to feel comfortable with this man. He even feels safe
enough to bring up the fact that he s a deserted creature that has no real relation or friend upon

The First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
THE FIRST BATTLE OF BULL RUN
On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the first major
land battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter on April 12
1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war by raising
armies. This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training the troops. Both sides also
did not know what a long and terrible war was ahead.
The first Battle of Bull Run took place near Manassas Junction, Virginia, an important railroad
junction twenty five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Confederates at Manassas knew far ahead of this action due to many Southern spies in
Washington. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull Run Creek. The heaviest
Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After a few skirmishes, the Union Army
arrived at Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack at Harpers
Ferry. As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces jumped on rail cars and
headed for Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army.
General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west, and began
several attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the Confederate line at Henry
House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear down the
Confederate lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall back, an officer pointed
out a line of rebels who were still strong. He said, look at Jackson s men standing like a stone
wall . He was talking about General T. J. Jackson s men. Jackson would from then on be known as
Stonewall Jackson , one of the most famous of all Confederate generals. This seemed to inspire the
Southern troops at Henry

Detrimental Effects Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved
We as humans all cope with our memories in varying ways, to varying degrees of success. The
detrimental effects our memories have on us is by no means easy to explain, but is the central
issue of Toni Morrison s novel Beloved. The novel goes into the two main ways we deal with
our pasts and how each affects the person s mental well being. You could be a Paul D, who locks
his memories and pain in his tin tobacco box heart so he almost doesn t even remember them, or a
Sethe who deals with and moves on from her pain, remembering the past but also getting caught in
it. She demonstrates that while it may be initially easier to just forget the past, everyone must come
to grips with what they have seen and what they have done. In Beloved, Morrison uses the
characters experiences to explain the difficulty of remembering the painful past, but also how
necessary it is. All the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Italy is situated is the center of the Mediterranean Sea. The main strength of geographical location
is that Italy belongs to the coasts of four different seas (Adriatic Sea, Ionian Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea
and Ligurian Sea). There are two large mountain ranges in Italy: Alps and Apennines. It is a big
plus for tourism sector of the country. Tourism is one of the fastest growing and profitable sectors
of the national economy. Italian climate is very different. It is comfortable to travel to this country

And now unemployment is growing too fast. The problem is that Italians tend to enter the work
force at an older age. They take longer to find jobs and tend not to leave those jobs once they
have them. As a result of it, many Italians turn to more flexible but illegal work. Speaking about
criminality, it is necessary to say about Italian mafia. Based on the report of 2009 year,
commissioned by Italy s parliamentary anti mafia commission, it is possible to say that now it is
silently prospering, moving on from spectacular crimes and massacres to business and politics,
with a prudent dose of intimidation and violence in a bid to take over the fundamental role of the
state. The highest concentration of people living under the shadow of the mafia, 95.9%, was in the
province of Agrigento in Sicily, followed by Naples, at 95%. (Tom Kington, guardian.co.uk, 2009).
Now Italy has many problems in economic sector. The first is that it has very high debt level.
Because of it Italy now is in crisis situation. Also Italian living standards have a considerable north
south divide. Italy suffers from structural weaknesses due to its geographical conformation and the
lack of raw materials and energy resources. The country has an inefficient state bureaucracy, low
property rights protection and high levels of corruption, heavy taxation and public spending that

Sweeney breaking the moral law. In the artistically stunning Epiphany, many of his Machiavellian

murder innocents without notice and send their corpses down to the bakehouse for Mrs. Lovett to

The Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
People have written short stories for hundreds of years; however it was not until the 19th
century that they really became popular. Short stories were the ideal form for writers who
wanted to earn some immediate money and reach a wide audience. As more people were given
the chance of receiving basic education, literacy rates improved and more were able to enjoy
reading. As the technology improved printing became cheaper meaning that more people could
afford to buy and read cheap magazines. This was in the days before television or radio when

It shows how the relationship between an oppressive husband and his submissive wife pushes her
from depression into insanity. At first she does not like the room and its horrid wallpaper but soon

The third story The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a typical murder mystery story. Sherlock
Holmes is presented with a baffling set of circumstances from which he deduces the facts and
reveals the villain. All three stories are common in that they are written in the first person singular.
This has the effect of engaging the reader and making him feel part of the unfolding tale.
Conan Doyle uses this technique in writing The Speckled Band . His story revolves around the
character of the detective, Sherlock Holmes, however it is told as seen through the eyes of his
companion, Dr
Watson, providing a good example of writing in the first person.
The Signalman is told in first person narrative; which makes the story extremely personal, meaning
that the reader becomes more involved in the story and it feels like it is actually happening at the
same time as you read it.
Charles Dickens also uses dialogue to reveal the account of the haunting and I believe he does
this to make it even more personal still. The Yellow Wallpaper is written almost in a diary form.
Reading it you feel as if you are in the woman s head as she makes notes in her journal. All three are

The common response to that was: Cool but don t spend any time in Mandalay. I heard it s a
horrible place .
So I was obviously on a mission to find the beauty of Mandalay, and guess what: I did.
The only real plans I made before were visiting the U Bein Bridge and Mandalay Hill.
Since there were three of us, it was cheaper to hire a driver for the entire day than to each rent a
bike. It started pouring later on, so we were quite happy with our decision.
Our very friendly driver Mue suggested a couple of activities in between ... Show more content on

It was still raining when we got up there but the view was still great.
This is one Monastery where you don t have to climb up anywhere as usual but Mue could actually
drive us all the way, where an escalator was waiting.
Call me lazy I was so happy with my legs still being sore from the 700 steps to Mount Popa I had
done the day before.
7. Food
I loved the food all over Myanmar but the Street Food in Mandalay was my favourite.
Being closer to India and China than the other places I visited, the Street Food was just perfect.
Most times I had no idea what I ate there but I loved it!
We managed to squeeze all this in one day, it could of course easily be spread over two. The streets
felt very stressful to me, so this is not the city for long walks but it s easy to get around and I loved
the places we looked at.
I was super thankful we had Mue showing us around and telling us about his life, his culture and
the places we looked at ( why is this pagoda white? look how big it is! Do you want to donate all
this paint to make it golden? ) and saving us from the rain several

Essay On Ultra Wide Monitor
5. Ultrawide VS 4k Montior Which one should I buy?
Well, they are both suitable for very different kind of users. Both of them offer a lot of screen space
for productivity. But an ultrawide is more recommended for multi tasking.
Sure, you can work with multiple applications on a 4K display, but it would be hard to read unless
you scale it. In short, more pixels doesn t mean you ll achieve higher productivity.
As for gamers, you need to know that between an ultra wide monitor or a 4K, the latter demands a
more powerful computer in order to fully enjoy the content.
With an ultrawide monitor, you won t need to upgrade your rig to enjoy the smooth gameplay
experience. Whereas with a 4K monitor; video games will look more stunning, but ... Show more

As for gamers, multiple monitors can be annoying for long gaming sessions since you ll have to
constantly move your head to enjoy everything that s happening on two or three different screens.
On the other hand, ultrawide monitor won t cause this kind of problem as a single curved screen
offers enough viewing space without the hassle of maneuvering your head all the time.
Also, unlike a multi monitor setup, ultrawide monitors will provide an immersive experience on a
giant single screen and that too without any bezels.
Moreover, you ll also get lots of features in an ultrawide gaming monitor like G Sync, Free Sync,
Gameplus Technology, Flicker Free technology, and gaming mode in the adjustment settings.
Combined, all of these features will give you a more enjoyable gaming experience than a dual or
triple monitor setup.
In short, I think buying an ultrawide unit is better than a multiple monitor setup for productivity
and gaming.
Even if it costs a bit more, the advantages of an ultrawide monitor give it an edge over a dual or
triple monitor setup.
Have you noticed that everyone is demanding for features like big screen, higher resolution, low
refresh rate and amazing picture quality in an affordable Monitor?
Up until now, 1080p IPS widescreens were the standard monitor for regular usage and gaming. But

Essay on The Other Side of Racism
The Other Side of Racism
When most people think of racism or supremacy, the images that come to their mind are white
power organizations that undermine blacks and other minorities. Groups such as the Knights of the
Ku Klux Klan, Skinheads and the White Nationalist Party may be some that come to mind.
However, many people are not aware of other racist organizations and powerful leaders that
influence people other than whites. A prime example of this is Louis Farrakahn, perhaps one of
world s premier black leaders, who condones racism against whites and people of different
religions. The image of an African American promoting racism among whites is not what society
understands as a typical form of racism. Despite this, Louis Farrakahn has ... Show more content on

the leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI), Muhammad reached out to black youth to join the NOI

Louis X. After meeting the late Malcolm X, Louis became a follower, and listened closely to the
words offered by Malcolm X. Malcolm X became Louis s mentor and taught him the ideas of
Muhammad. Years later, Malcolm X left the Nation of Islam and denounced Elijah Muhammad.
With this, Louis X made one of his first and memorable lash outs. Malcolm shall not

as a leader of the black community.
Upon the death of Elijah Muhammad, the NOI was faced with appointing a new leader. Wallace
Muhammad, Elijah s son, took over the NOI and presented some changes in the NOI s policies.
Unhappily, Louis formed his own group based upon the separatist teachings of Wallace s father
Elijah Muhammad. He traveled extensively in Africa and the Middle East in hopes of gaining
support from other Muslims. In the 1970 s, he coined the name Farrakhan and returned to the

The Impact Of Disney Films On Children
The Impact of Walt Disney Productions on Children A young girl with black hair and brown
eyes sees a beautiful princess named Cinderella who has blond hair, blue eyes, and flawless skin.
She believes she will never be as radiant and beautiful as the princess because they don t look
alike. Like this girl, there are many cases of Disney films having lasting negative effects on
children. Disney influences children more than any other age group since most merchandise and

After ten seconds, he then asked them to describe how each individual imagined the character.
Predictably, nearly every participant described Disney s 1950 animated blonde Cinderella (294 295).
This information indicates how severely society is affected by Disney s films. Sadly, not being
recognized might be a good thing versus being misrepresented. A character s representation is
just as important as being recognized, if not more. If a character misrepresents a group of
people, it can further influence negative stereotypes toward those people. A prominent
misrepresented character in the Disney franchise is Pocahontas. Do Rozario and Rebecca Anne
C. recognize the drawing of Pocahontas in the cartoon animated film makes her the most
sexually endowed of all the female forms that appear (51). With the way that Disney presented
and sexualized Pocahontas, it leads to how misrepresented Native Americans are and how Disney
often misinterprets historical facts in their productions. Negative stereotypes are not just found in
Pocahontas but also in a propaganda video produced by Disney named Education for Death back
during World War II. It negatively presents Germans as brainwashed individuals who are solely
alive for the purpose of fighting in war. The story follows the childhood of a blonde and blue eyed
child named Hans who grows up learning the German ideals, eventually becoming a brainwashed
German soldier (Geronimi). Despite not many

Digestive Diseases And The Digestive Tract
Digestive diseases are disorders of the digestive tract, which is sometimes called the gastrointestinal
(GI) tract (Eisner, 2014). The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a flexible muscular tube that extends
from the mouth, through the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum to the
anus (Whitney Rolfes, 2012). During digestion, the body breaks down foods into nutrients to
prepare for absorption. During absorption, the cells of the small intestine take the nutrients and send
them to the blood or lymph cells (Whitney Rolfes, 2012). After absorption, the body uses the
nutrients for energy and building blocks for the cells. The digestive tract consists of: the esophagus,
stomach, large intestine, small intestine,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some experience mild symptoms only happening occasionally after eating a certain food but many
struggle with severe symptoms on a daily basis, leading them to consume large amounts of antacids
to try and get relief.
Acid reflux is very common. The American College of Gastroenterology says that over 60 million
Americans experience heartburn at least once a month and at least 15 million as often as daily
(MacGill, 2015).
Acid reflux occurs when some of the acid content of the stomach flows back up into the esophagus.
The stomach contains hydrochloric acid, which is there to help aid in digestion and to protect
against harmful bacteria. The gastroesophageal sphincter protects the esophagus from the acid in
the stomach by acting as a valve and not letting the acid back up into the esophagus. At times, the
valve can fail and it allows the acid to back up into the esophagus, thus creating the sensation of
heartburn (MacGill, 2015).
There can be many different causes to acid reflux occurring. Having a hiatal hernia (a hole in the
diaphragm which allows the upper stomach to enter the chest cavity) can be a factor. Pregnancy
can cause acid reflux due to the pressure being placed on internal organs. Lifestyle choices
including: obesity; smoking; lack of exercise; and high salt intake can all contribute to acid reflux
(Macgill, 2015). Eating too much food or eating certain types of

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote
our whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavskis eye opening book, An ActorPrepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three
main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the
inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a

that be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene

overall objective of the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation.
If a character is going over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then
it slows down the pace of the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling
the normal person inside myself, provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The

An Average Sized Person By My Own Society s Standards
An average sized person by my own society s standards, I have developed over the last few days,
a sudden complex: I feel gargantuan in size as I stand a head above the throngs of people I am
swarmed by, while attempting to make my way through the crosswalk. Rarely one prone to
anxiety, it is difficult not to become overwhelmed; never have I seen so many people in one
place. Tokyo after all, boasts nearly half the population that Canada does in its entirety. Feeling
the familiar wave of nausea that had accompanied me since landing, I signal to my friend
Yasuyo, my need to stop. It feels as though the world itself is tilting and that gravity has ceased
to exist, and as the earth continues to shift under my feet, I start to believe that in a moment I
will topple off its surface. I thought jet lag simply equated tiredness. I lean against a building in
an attempt to steady myself. My fear of humiliating myself and my company is slowly starting
to subside as the wave passes. What takes its place is a feeling so profound it too, becomes
physical. I look up to the sky and although it is mid day I can see the half moon. I wonder if any
of my friends back home happened to be gazing at the same moon in that very moment. It is then
that the sweeping realization came over me; I had succeeded in making a small but victorious step
towards fulfilling my dream of traversing the globe. Seventeen years and twenty five countries later,

Solar Power And Solar Energy
Solar energy is capable of providing a cleaner energy than most forms of energy generation, and
solar energy is able to be generated economically. Solar energy reduces the amount of harm to
the environment from energy generation, by providing a cleaner alternative. Solar energy also
provides jobs for construction and installation of solar powered technologies. The cost of
installing solar panels can vary greatly, but its long term benefits outweigh the costs. Typically a
solar panel system is a three kilowatts to eight kilowatts system that cost fifteen thousand to forty
thousand dollars to install, total cost depends on circumstances of installation. However tax
credits and incentives help recoup a portion of the cost in the first year, the savings of electricity
cost makes installing the system profitable in under 10 years (Maehlum). Purchasing the system
requires a large loan, however paying the loan can be substantially better than paying utility bills
when the investment will eventually be paid for. If the system is large enough to handle the
requirements of the household, the only payment for electricity will be the cost of the loan.
Making loan payments instead of paying utility bills is predictable, and any excess energy will
be used as a credit for months were the owner s energy use may exceed the generated amount.
Within10 years of financing the solar panels, the cost of the solar panels will already made up by
the cost savings from not paying for utility

It`s true that strict rules and tight regulations are necessary they protect consumers, customer
safety, environment and other things. However sometimes it causes some burdens on businesses.
It always increases the cost of operations. Also turnaround time for repairs was highly critical and
cost for flight delay was extremely huge. Customers might be upset or even shift to other airlines
if delays caused them lose the connecting flights. Thus, the cost of aircraft delays was crucial
element in engineering. Bargaining power of supplier, difficulty to forecast demand and harsh
competitions were other important issues in aviation industry. As a result of tight aviation
regulations airline companies, as a customer, were constrained in supplier selection. Spare parts

The limited choice and high concentration of OEM`s limited airline operators` negotiation power.
According to the M. Porter`s five force analysis aviation industry has low entrance barrier and it

ticket prices have constantly and significantly fallen. Finally, demand forecasting was very difficult.
The forecast for spare parts is made based on maintenance information, scheduled maintenance plans

The time has come when the common old time thug making a place for themselves has ended and
now the devastating effects of the new bully come to life. New bullies don t just stop with words
and maybe a playground fight, now we have severe physical trauma and even death as a result of
the negative responses to this type of treatment. Amazingly enough the amount of physical bullying
has increased as with the increase of school bullying:
The common thought has been bullying is a normal reaction to school. Studies show that bullying
is the result of underlying issues. Traditional bullying was a common thug trying to make a place
for themselves, whereas now it has gone to new heights, it now includes physical trauma and even
death. We find that bullying affects the bully as well as the victim. The victims tend to have more
problems in school with attendance and achievements within the academic world. This is not just
about the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students, it involves all students that don t fit
societies idea of normal then the person gets bullied. The amount of attention given to this issue is a
direct result of this escalation in events within the school system from grade schools to universities.
The most pressing problem with getting the bullying policies changed is the conservative
communities that school boards serve and convincing them that these policies need to be

Donatello s Marble Sculpture Of David By Ghiberti
Renaissance art, as with most art, conveys a message about the present beliefs during the
Renaissance age, both religious and secular, through the central themes and form used in the piece.
For instance, Ghiberti s panels on the baptistery doors provide detailed scenes depicting stories
from the Old Testament, which defines the primary theme of this piece and illustrates the religious
beliefs of the Renaissancetime. This piece also displays an immense level of humanism through the
strong sense of realism and naturalism Ghiberti provides. The figures were rendered as being part
of an actual story with their faces expressing obvious emotions. It is also apparent that Ghiberti was

Likewise, Donatello s marble sculpture of David also possesses a religious theme, as it depicts the
biblical figure David and portrays his youthful courage and triumph over his enemies. This in itself
aided in the projection of Florentine beliefs and dreams, both religious and secular, as Florence was
often in conflict with other cities. Additionally, this pieces clearly exhibits Donatello s profound
understanding of sculptural adornment and classic form through his use of naturalism, which
gives the sculpture a sense of liveliness and emotion. Furthermore, the fresco displaying Saint.
Peter healing the sick with his shadow, painted inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine by
Masaccio, shares much of the same theme and reveals similar form as the two previously

Arnold Friend Allusion
Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been, is a testament of a true artist, because art can be
interpreted into many forms and meanings. These meanings can differ from person to person, such
as each reader of this tale can walk away with a different understanding of what the deeper
implication may be. With the element of religious metaphors and allusions, the author is able to
connect her short story to a much deeper value that pertains to today s society and it s current
relations with religion.
Within Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? it is prevalent that Connie s family is not

The Australian Constitution
The Australian Constitution was drafted at a series of constitutional conventions held in the 1890s.
It was passed by the British Parliament as part of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act
1900 and took effect on 1 January 1901. The Constitution is the legal framework for how Australia
is governed and it can only be changed by referendum.
A constitution is a set of rules by which a country or state is run.
Some countries have unwritten constitutions which means there is no formal constitution written in
one particular document. Their constitutional rules are derived from a number of sources. Britain
sources its constitution from a number of important statutes, or laws, as well as principles decided
in legal cases and conventions. New Zealand and Israel are two other countries that do not have
formal written constitutions.
Other countries have formal written constitutions in which the structure of government is defined
and the respective powers of the nation and the states are written in one single document. These
systems may also include unwritten conventions and constitutional law, which can inform how the
constitution is interpreted. Australia, India and the United States are examples of countries with a
written constitution.
Some constitutions may be amended without any special procedure. The documents that make up
the New Zealand Constitution may be amended simply by a majority vote of its Parliament. In
other countries a special procedure must be followed

In load balancing for the control plane SDN may cause the network controller to become a potential
performance bottleneck, to overcome this controller load balancing schemes have been used. They
are logically centralized and physically distributed controller, physically distributed controller,

multithread controllers are developed to improve the request processing throughput. The
parallelism architecture of servers is used to provide high throughput with scalability at the
controllers in multithread multicore SDN controllers. The research challenges in flow
management are dynamic load balancing scheme for the data plane and dynamic load balancing
scheme for the control plane. Now coming to the second core i.e. fault tolerance: for ensuring the
reliability of the network, SDN must be able to perform the failure recovery straight forwardly and
effortlessly when a failure occurs in the network. Even though a switch could be used in such a
failure, it has neither the insight nor the information to make new route. For this it has to depend on
the controller. In this manner, we discuss the research efforts on fast failure recovery in SDN
networks. For fault tolerance in the data plane we have two failure recovery mechanisms, which are
restoration and protection. In restoration, the recovery path

Odours And Memory Lab Report
The results of the experiment does not support the hypothesis that odours can improve memory

peppermint was shown to produce a significant improvement in the quality of memory when

encouraged me to be civically minded and to think globally, not just locally. Taking that
perspective and applying it to his fellow graduates, Daniels upcoming message is about
encouraging community involvement especially on campus. Remain open minded and optimistic
about the things you can do at UNLV, he suggests. The connections you can make with people
from all different walks of life, the diversity that you see here at UNLV is the face of

A Grimm Warning
I read the fantasy book called The Land Of Stories A Grimm Warning by Chris Colfer. This book
has 469 pages in it. According to a review on Amazon by USA TODAY There is more in Colfer s
magic kingdoms than Disney has dreamt of. I think the intended audience for Land of Stories A
Grimm Warning is probably kids or young adults ages 10 14 or kids in Elementary school to
Middle School because I think this book might be a little hard for young kids and maybe
something that older kids like high schoolers aren t interested in. The main characters in Land of
Stories A Grimm Warning are: Alex, a 13 year old girl who has long blonde hair and loves to wear
headbands. Her favorite outfit is her long, sparkly, blue dress that she can make appear... Show

A few people were chosen in his class to go to Germany if they were very good writers so they
could be there for the reading of a time capsule that reveals three stories that the Brothers Grimm
had never revealed yet. But the trip goes terribly wrong when Conner suddenly realizes that one
of the stories is a warning that a huge army is going to take over the fairytale world. Conner tries
to contact his sister but it is very hard he finally gets there but he is not alone a girl from his trip
named Bree tags along so does a German boy named Emmerich but I won t get into further detail
about them. He and his sister along with some help need to fight of the army to save the
fairytale world. I won t tell you how it ends but I will tell you the enemy who leads the army is a
prisoner from the fairytale world whose name is the masked man. The story is full of Aha
moments which is one of six reading signposts. An Aha moment is when a character finally figures
something out. I would tell you more about the story but I don t want to spoil anything for you
because I think you really should read this book. I think the theme of this book is teamwork and

An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America...
An man from India deeply influenced a black man in America who persuaded black Americans
to peacefully seek civil rights. Blacks in America were once slaves. They had neither freedom
nor rights. Now, in the 20th century, segregation has been abolished and discrimination has
largely been reduced and blacks are more able to live freely as American citizens. In Early 1950
s, blacks did not have civil rights, so they had to fight for their freedom by protesting. In 1955,
blacks decided to rally together for social justice and planned a boycott. This boycott became
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was pivotal in the Civil Right Movement by
energizing blacks, particularly in the South, to become more involved in politics. This... Show more

These laws were applied to the use of everything such as, bathrooms, water fountains, restaurants
and buses. The enforcement of the Jim Crow laws was one of the key factors for the Montgomery
Bus Boycott, initiated by determined black women. People today know Rosa Parks as the pivotal
for the main cause of Montgomery Bus Boycott, but it was not just her, it was also Claudette
Colvin. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March
1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white
passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest.
She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the
Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses
in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin
would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant.
During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the
Browder v. Gayle case. Her performance of that civil disobedience did not spark the bus boycott
as Parks did, but did started something that Rosa Parks finished. The elevation of the bus conflict
increased on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person.
There was a law that allowed white bus drivers to expand the whites

Goodnight Mr Tom
Starting with the oldest timeframe pre 1960s. Due to Goodnight Mr. Tom written by Michelle
Magorian in 1981. It is based on real story takes place before 1960s about ten years old boy
William who is evacuated from London to the country social services as Britain stands on the
ledge of the Second World War. Unhappy, deprived child slowly begins to flourish and makes
friends under the care of old Tom Oakley. But his newfound happiness shattered by a request from
his motherto back to London.
His microsystem consists of single mother, which was scandal in that time. Statistics shows that in
early 1961 birth occur within marriage are 94% and that percentage decreased over years (ONS,

William mother seems to be authoritarian parent. According to Baumrind (1966) authoritarian
parent believe that the child should accept the words of the parents for what is right, as there is no
open communications, also believe in keeping the child in his/her place, in limiting his
independence. Mr. Tom was an authoritative and sometimes authoritarian. Mr. Tom was looking for
William and when he found him in the Church he shouts on him and shows that he is upset from
spending half an hour on searching for him while he was prepared a birthday party in home for
William.
However, one of the criticisms that have been leveled in Vygotsky s work is his optimistic
concept where he believed that all of the social and cultural experiences would influence
positively on the developing child (Gray and MacBlain, 2015). Yet the case for William and his
sister, William mother locked them in the wardrobe and leaves the house a week before Mr. Tom
found them. Fortunately for William that he survived but the baby did not. And that shows there is

Comparison Of The Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prime example of a Discourse community.
They have set goals and are not going to let anything get in the way of those goals. As every NFL
team has the goal of winning a Championship only 1 team achieves that goal each year. Some
teams just aren t good in general and some are great, but let little issues interfere with their team
chemistry which makes them lose. Then there are teams that come together on issues and work
them out so that they can be as successful as they can, but with this season there is a huge issue
that all teams are going to have to go through and that is the National Anthem. The National
Anthem is our country s theme song and it is very highly respected throughout our great
country. The Anthem talks about freedom, liberty, and justice for all and about how there are
great men and women who risk their lives every day so our country can be free. So, when the
Anthem is played at professional football games everyone stands and holds their hand over their
heart and respects our flag and our Anthem because that is the least we can do to help support
and show our respects to our soldiers and our great country. As many people can see, a lot of
things are changing, and these changes started when Colin Kaepernick (Former Quarterback for
the San Francisco 49ers, now a free agent) decided to take a knee instead of standing during the
National Anthem in the 2016 17 season. Colin says he did this not to disrespect the soldiers and
war veterans but, to bring awareness of the issues going on in our country. Colin said that he felt
that our country is not free and justice is not done fairly. He believes there is too much Police
brutality there are people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable Kaepernick.
Also, he believes African Americans are treated and looked at differently and it has been that way
in the past and it still hasn t changed. Once Colin kneeled and said all the things he needed to get
off his chest the world shook. African Americanpeople and professional athletes all over the world
agreed with what he did. I m not saying white people didn t agree, but it was more African
Americans that felt the same way Colin did and

Stupid Roo Monologue
How dare he? I thought he knew me better. I thought I knew Roo after seeing him for 17 long
years, I thought he would know by now that I DO NOT want to get married! All of those lay off
seasons wasted, all because Roo decided to propose. Stupid Roo, why did he have to wreck
everything? It makes me think... does he even know me? Wouldn t you think that over the years
he would know that I don t want to be a silly house wife like Pearl was before her husband passed
away. I m not like Nancy and Pearl, I want to live my life, not be tied to a man until I die. Marriage,
I can t believe he proposed the idea of marriage to me that stupid Roo. Why can t things go back to
the way they used to be? With Roo and Barney flying down south like a pair of eagles (Act II,
Scene I, Page XLVIII) every year for the lay off season. Those 5 months of the year they come
down are the best months of my life, until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ll be tied to Roo forever I mean Roo is a pretty good bloke and all but I don t want to marry him.
Imagine that, staying with the same person for your whole life, and not making any decisions
for yourself. How boring, I want to live life to my own beat not have to follow orders from my
husband. I don t want to slave in the kitchen all day preparing meals when my husband is
perfectly capable of making his own breakfast in the morning and washing his own clothes.
What, so if I get married I am expected to work harder than my husband?? Work until I have
blisters on my hands? And no I don t get a day off if I am sick unlike my husband I am still
expect to do all the house work. Marriage sounds like more of a punishment than a reward to me.
Why would Roo wish marriage upon me? I don t understand why he was so upset I mean, he
knew I didn t want to marry him, well at least I thought he knew that I wasn t planning to get
married my time soon or possibly

Identity And Ethnic Identity
5. What have you done to learn about different identities and how will you foster a community
that recognizes and appreciates these differences? (please limit answer to 400 words) From the
time I was in preschool until I graduated high school, I was a part of the Hawaiian language
immersion program, or Kula Kaiapuni. This program offers students the opportunity to receive
a public education taught completely in the Hawaiian language. As a Native Hawaiian, I felt it
was necessary for me to complete the program in order for me to connect to my ethnic identity.
In addition to allowing me to become fluent in Hawaiian, this program has taught me the
importance of knowing my peopleК»s history and realizing my responsibility to my people
today. Without this experience, I do not think that I would have such a strong foundation for
and understanding of my identity as I do now. Since I was given this opportunity to form a
strong sense of identity and develop my own personal beliefs from a young age, it has also
taught me to respect the identities and beliefs of others. In the Hawaiian language there is a
saying that goes, Aohe pau ka ike i ka halau hookahi, which translates as, not all knowledge can
be learned in one school. This saying is one of the main ones that we are taught from a young age.
To us, it means that we cannot allow ourselves to become close minded to the opinions or beliefs
of others because something can be learned from each of them. Having a strong

  • 2. Nra The National Rifle Association (NRA) As George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton spokesman once said: Let me make one small vote for the NRA. They re good citizens. They call their Congressmen. They write. They vote. They contribute. And they get what they want over time.(qtd. in nra.org) The NRA is indeed all of these things, with programs to benefit a variety of Americans, sponsorship of one of Americas oldest sports, and as an organization that will stand up for its political beliefs regarding the Second Amendment. (www.nra.org) Formed in 1872 when military leaders were disappointed with the marksmanship of their soldiers, the NRA has always faced political opposition for promoting marksmanship. Although it was founded largely... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (web wonks. org) One of these 3 million NRA members, Gary L. Simmons ( webwonks.org), clearly illustrates the strong feelings behind the NRA purpose of protecting constitutional rights by saying: If you can just put aside the demonizing words of a partisan and unabashedly biased national media for a moment and do your own research into the facts you will see that the Second Amendment to the constitution of the United States is not an outdated 225 year old mistake that needs to be erased from the constitution any more than the freedom to assemble peaceably and yes, even the freedom of speech . The right to keep and bear arms is at least as important as any of the other amendments in the Bill of Rights that our ancestors have continued to fight and die for to protect since the founding of this nation. These rights and the body of the Constitution of the United States of America are vital to maintaining this fragile thing we call freedom. The NRA Foundations mission statement is also indicative of the purposes of the NRA by stating: [In] support of a wide range of firearm related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law abiding Americans. These activities are designed to promote firearms and hunting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic, another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael Martin, Sapna Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (2409). Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains are evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistancein bacteria causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections) in all regions of the world (21). In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I tentatively stepped forward going towards the door where the rats were gnawing away on the glass. We didn t have much time. Mate! What do you think you re doing? Le Gleo yelled pressing against the wall. I turned around and let out a sigh. I trudged back to the wall pressing my back against the wall staring into the eyes of the swarm of sea rats gnawing against the glass. What shall we do? Itchoua stammered. No one replied. The reason it s important to vote is because it shows the president integrity, and we need a leader for our country because there would be total chaos and people would be getting hurt. There would be no one to stop the stuff that would be going on, and no one could declare and control people from buying guns if they are a felon. A president needs to take care of the money system and all of the police, and medical system and how it works. If you are a adult and you vote you are a good role model. • 7. The Civil Rights Movement Of Fareed Zakaria s The Rise... In the following document I have read and researched two different points asked in the assignment. The first is a summarization and my take on Zakaria s article, along with answered questions from the assignment. The second is a research portion, provided by the listed sources, about the civil rights movement. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Zakaria article and it was an eye opener looking into the civil rights movement. Fareed Zakaria s The Rise of Illiberal Democracy details his view on elected governments and the ignorance and abuse of their power. He claims that they do not use their powers in the right way and instead deny basic civil rights and liberties. Democracy can be defined numerous ways in different countries. In Zakaria s definition, to paraphrase, a democracy is viewed as a process of selecting government and is to always mean the rule of the people. In my opinion this definition is very true when associating democracy with countries such as the one I preside in because we have the right to vote for the people making decisions in individual states and, most importantly, our federal government. To have a democracy intuitively means A good government . Following democracy in the article, Zakaria highlights two other forms of government that contrast to democracy and where they are used. Constitutional liberalism is not a procedure for selecting government, but rather the government s goal . This concept of government rule looks out more for the individual ... The audience plays a crucial part here, as they are active participants. It is important that all participants be knowledgeable, open minded, and respectful. Lastly, the logical perspective relies on the audience s knowledge of logical patterns such as a cause effect reasoning. The audience in this case, acts as disinterested and is more of a third party judge (Rybacki 10). Regardless of perspective, the argumentation for the intended audience must abide by certain ethical standards. Argumentation is based around the conscious choices of what to say to influence the audience. Advocates have an ethical responsibility not to deceive their audiences or other arguers by using obscure or ambiguous language, confusing patterns of organization, or ideas encumbered by nonessential information or ideas (Rybacki 16). With this said, choosing clear and concrete language in an organized structure gives the arguer assurance that their message was not misinterpreted. Honesty is also extremely important in a successful argument, and the arguer should know their topic thoroughly to avoid false information. Moreover, stating the opposing viewpoints allows for a more effective and ethical discussion. Efficiency as an ethical standard gives the advocate the obligation to develop arguments that have the necessary rational power to make their point (Rybacki 17). Karyn ... In a synthesis of the Pre Quaternary history of fire by A.C. This study will focus mainly on the mammal and bird effects unless the herpetofauna are opportunistically surveyed in large enough quantities that allow for inferences. By itself, the effects of fire on mammals have been well studied whether is it small (Leahy et al., 2016; Southgate and Masters, 1996), medium large (Shaw and Carter, 1990; Hobbs and Spotwart, 1984), a prey species (Newsome et al., 1983; Vernes, 2000), or predators (Dees et al., 2001). This study will hypothesize fire effects on mammals in using a mammalian fire and timber harvest review (Fisher and Wilkinson, 2005), although it should be noted that they do identify a lack of data for the Canids, Felids and Ursids. • 12. The Priest And The Great King By Lisbeth S. Fried The Priest and the Great King by Lisbeth S. Fried faces the question as to how the Persians dealt with the Jews after the absorption of Judea from the conquest of Babylon. The texts from Hebrew sources suggested the Persian had a sense of reverence for the Jews which was unlike the others. Attempting to use sources other than the Tanach is difficult as there is not much in the way of Persian sources concerning the Jews and Judea but there is some. The province of Judea was called Yehud under Persian rule, and may have been called such under Babylonian rule. The primary source of Persian kindness to the Jews was found in the proclamation made by Cyrus. While there is a Persian record of the decree, the actual language is different than how it is shown in the Tanach. The Cyrus cylinder does not suggest Yehud was singled out as being freed from slavery nor were they singled out as being permitted to rebuild temples which were destroyed under Babylonian rule . All of this opens the door for Frieds s main question, how did Yehud s government change from the time of conquest under Babylon to the arrival of Alexander the Great. Was it due to some autonomy given by the king or was it in spite of rules placed by the king, was this change unique; was there a change at all? The physical damage was minimal, but the psychological damage caused by the destruction of the temple and the exile of the priests, royal family, and other like individuals was significant. She shows this by contrasting her characters C and Victor throughout the novel. When Victor Frankenstein built C, he selected C s features as beautiful but when C actually comes to life, Victor is horrified (47). The man runs to his bedroom, somehow falls asleep, and awakens to find C standing over his bed with an attempted smile on his face. Although Victor s point of view interprets C s actions as a threat, which is why he runs, there is more evidence to the fact that C was simply trying to be affectionate to his creator. Later, a beautiful woman by the name of Safie appears, and C experiences music for the first time. C is enraptured by the workings of this small family, and he slowly begins to want one of his own. At the same time, C wonders what could ve been with his creator, and whether he belonged in this form of society. He formulates a plan to ask the blind old man if he can come in for warmth and it works. De Lacey is very kind to C, letting him into his house and starting a conversation. Despite the negative reactions he had gotten from the rest of society, C dares to feel comfortable with this man. He even feels safe enough to bring up the fact that he s a deserted creature that has no real relation or friend upon earth (113). In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President. The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter on April 12 1861. After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war by raising armies. This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training the troops. The detrimental effects our memories have on us is by no means easy to explain, but is the central issue of Toni Morrison s novel Beloved. The novel goes into the two main ways we deal with our pasts and how each affects the person s mental well being. You could be a Paul D, who locks his memories and pain in his tin tobacco box heart so he almost doesn t even remember them, or a Sethe who deals with and moves on from her pain, remembering the past but also getting caught in it. In Wait, Sweeney frantically asks an unconcerned Mrs. Lovett, What about the judge? When will I get to him? The entire musical is about Sweeney breaking the moral law. In the artistically stunning Epiphany, many of his Machiavellian characteristics are made clearer than they previously may have been. He sings, And I will get him back (the Judge who has escaped death) even as he gloats. In the meantime I ll practice on less honorable throats. Clearly, this means he plans to murder everyone who comes into his tonsorial parlor. He is breaking the moral law that prohibits murder and instating his own law that allows him to, in the name of vengeance, slaughter innocents. One would have to be shrewd to murder innocents without notice and send their corpses down to the bakehouse for Mrs. Lovett to make meat pies to sell in her shop. From the moment, he steps off the ship that has rescued him from sea, Sweeney proves himself to be cunning. One particular instance of craftiness comes when the street charlatan and Sweeney s former assistant, Daniel O Higgins, comes to the shop, intending to blackmail him. The Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman People have written short stories for hundreds of years; however it was not until the 19th century that they really became popular. Short stories were the ideal form for writers who wanted to earn some immediate money and reach a wide audience. As more people were given the chance of receiving basic education, literacy rates improved and more were able to enjoy reading. Sherlock Holmes is presented with a baffling set of circumstances from which he deduces the facts and reveals the villain. All three stories are common in that they are written in the first person singular. This has the effect of engaging the reader and making him feel part of the unfolding tale. Conan Doyle uses this technique in writing The Speckled Band . His story revolves around the character of the detective, Sherlock Holmes, however it is told as seen through the eyes of his companion, Dr Watson, providing a good example of writing in the first person. The Signalman is told in first person narrative; which makes the story extremely personal, meaning that the reader becomes more involved in the story and it feels like it is actually happening at the same time as you read it. Charles Dickens also uses dialogue to reveal the account of the haunting and I believe he does this to make it even more personal still. The Yellow Wallpaper is written almost in a diary form. Sure, you can work with multiple applications on a 4K display, but it would be hard to read unless you scale it. In short, more pixels doesn t mean you ll achieve higher productivity. As for gamers, you need to know that between an ultra wide monitor or a 4K, the latter demands a more powerful computer in order to fully enjoy the content. Some experience mild symptoms only happening occasionally after eating a certain food but many struggle with severe symptoms on a daily basis, leading them to consume large amounts of antacids to try and get relief. Acid reflux is very common. The American College of Gastroenterology says that over 60 million Americans experience heartburn at least once a month and at least 15 million as often as daily (MacGill, 2015). Acid reflux occurs when some of the acid content of the stomach flows back up into the esophagus. The stomach contains hydrochloric acid, which is there to help aid in digestion and to protect against harmful bacteria. The gastroesophageal sphincter protects the esophagus from the acid in the stomach by acting as a valve and not letting the acid back up into the esophagus. At times, the valve can fail and it allows the acid to back up into the esophagus, thus creating the sensation of heartburn (MacGill, 2015). There can be many different causes to acid reflux occurring. Having a hiatal hernia (a hole in the diaphragm which allows the upper stomach to enter the chest cavity) can be a factor. Pregnancy can cause acid reflux due to the pressure being placed on internal organs. Solar energy reduces the amount of harm to the environment from energy generation, by providing a cleaner alternative. Typically a solar panel system is a three kilowatts to eight kilowatts system that cost fifteen thousand to forty thousand dollars to install, total cost depends on circumstances of installation. However tax credits and incentives help recoup a portion of the cost in the first year, the savings of electricity cost makes installing the system profitable in under 10 years (Maehlum). To add, no information was provided for the room size in this current study. Although Moss et al. (2008) mentioned that temperature was maintained between 18 to 22 degrees Celsius throughout the testing sessions, temperature control was not taken into account in the current experiment and in Ilmberger et al. s ... • 36. The Good In Everyone and The Example of Anne Frank Anne Frank was a young girl who lived during the holocaust who lived during Hitler s reign in Amsterdam. Only one problem: She was Jewish. In July of 1942, Margot Frank was called to report to a concentration camp. The Franks were forced into hiding in an annex behind Mr. Frank s business. The Franks, along with the Van Pels and Mr. Pfeffer, hid in the annex for about two years. During her time in hiding, Anne confided in a diary. In her diary, she wrote Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart. I agree with Anne. In my opinion, everyone is good at heart; they just show it in different ways. People do what they think is right. Even though there is evil in the world, I believe that deep down, everyone is good at heart. Anne Frankbelieved everyone was good at heart, despite what was happening to her. I believe that everyone has good in their hearts; they just have different ways of showing it. The Nazi s were considered evil by most Jews. Yet, in the movie Anne Frank, the soldier gave Mr. Frank extra time to pack because he saw that Mr. Frank was also a soldier. This shows he has good in his heart, at least in my opinion. Even though he is a Nazi, who are supposed to despise Jews, he was kind to Mr. Frank. Take a look at Miep Gies. She hid her friends to try and save them, jeopardizing her own freedom for others. In Miep Gies: A Dangerous Secret, it says But every day for two years, Miep Gies broke the law (1). Miep showed great courage and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blacks in America were once slaves. They had neither freedom nor rights. Now, in the 20th century, segregation has been abolished and discrimination has largely been reduced and blacks are more able to live freely as American citizens. In Early 1950 s, blacks did not have civil rights, so they had to fight for their freedom by protesting. In 1955, blacks decided to rally together for social justice and planned a boycott. This boycott became known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was pivotal in the Civil Right Movement by energizing blacks, particularly in the South, to become more involved in politics. The enforcement of the Jim Crow laws was one of the key factors for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, initiated by determined black women. People today know Rosa Parks as the pivotal for the main cause of Montgomery Bus Boycott, but it was not just her, it was also Claudette Colvin. She was one of the four women who got arrested nine months before Parks in March 1955. Colvin s situation was similar to Parks; Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus . Claudette was only fifteen years old at the time of the arrest. She was also a member of the NAACP Youth Council. The NAACP wanted to test the Montgomery Bus System by assigning black women to challenging the Jim Crow law on buses in Montgomery, AL. After her arrest, even though she was a youth, the NAACP thought Colvin would be their key to their rebellion, but could not happen because she later became pregnant. During her pregnancy, Colvin testified in the Montgomery federal court on the hearing of the Browder v. Gayle case. Her performance of that civil disobedience did not spark the bus boycott as Parks did, but did started something that Rosa Parks finished. The elevation of the bus conflict increased on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. There was a law that allowed white bus drivers to expand the whites ... • 42. Comparison Of The Pittsburgh Steelers Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prime example of a Discourse community. They have set goals and are not going to let anything get in the way of those goals. As every NFL team has the goal of winning a Championship only 1 team achieves that goal each year. Some teams just aren t good in general and some are great, but let little issues interfere with their team chemistry which makes them lose. Then there are teams that come together on issues and work them out so that they can be as successful as they can, but with this season there is a huge issue that all teams are going to have to go through and that is the National Anthem. The National Anthem is our country s theme song and it is very highly respected throughout our great country. The Anthem talks about freedom, liberty, and justice for all and about how there are great men and women who risk their lives every day so our country can be free. So, when the Anthem is played at professional football games everyone stands and holds their hand over their heart and respects our flag and our Anthem because that is the least we can do to help support and show our respects to our soldiers and our great country. As many people can see, a lot of things are changing, and these changes started when Colin Kaepernick (Former Quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, now a free agent) decided to take a knee instead of standing during the National Anthem in the 2016 17 season. Colin says he did this not to disrespect the soldiers and war veterans but, to bring awareness of the issues going on in our country. Colin said that he felt that our country is not free and justice is not done fairly. He believes there is too much Police brutality there are people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable Kaepernick. Also, he believes African Americans are treated and looked at differently and it has been that way in the past and it still hasn t changed. Once Colin kneeled and said all the things he needed to get off his chest the world shook. African Americanpeople and professional athletes all over the world agreed with what he did. • 44. Identity And Ethnic Identity 5. What have you done to learn about different identities and how will you foster a community that recognizes and appreciates these differences? (please limit answer to 400 words) From the time I was in preschool until I graduated high school, I was a part of the Hawaiian language immersion program, or Kula Kaiapuni. This program offers students the opportunity to receive a public education taught completely in the Hawaiian language. As a Native Hawaiian, I felt it was necessary for me to complete the program in order for me to connect to my ethnic identity. In addition to allowing me to become fluent in Hawaiian, this program has taught me the importance of knowing my peopleК»s history and realizing my responsibility to my people today. Without this experience, I do not think that I would have such a strong foundation for and understanding of my identity as I do now. Since I was given this opportunity to form a strong sense of identity and develop my own personal beliefs from a young age, it has also taught me to respect the identities and beliefs of others. In the Hawaiian language there is a saying that goes, Aohe pau ka ike i ka halau hookahi, which translates as, not all knowledge can be learned in one school. This saying is one of the main ones that we are taught from a young age. To us, it means that we cannot allow ourselves to become close minded to the opinions or beliefs of others because something can be learned from each of them. Having a strong ...
