2. New Public Management ( Npm )
New Public Management (NPM) was developed in response to some criticisms of
the public sector. One of them is to make the public sector more financially
accountable since they need to demonstrate to the government who provides them
funding, that the money is being put into good use. They also need to ensure efficient
resource allocation (Peyton) because resources are limited yet there is an increase in
expectations and demands. For example, number of public hospitals and medical
expertise may be insufficient to meet the public s demand. This is because government
feel compelled to ensure that everyone can access healthcare and is therefore,
provided at a low cost. The problem is made worse due to the growth of private
hospitals, where quality of services is regarded as superior to public hospitals. The
public medical sector is thus under great pressure to improve service quality and
efficiency.
It is said that the new public management reforms have made public sector
organisations more calculable and accountable. First of all, it is important to define
these terms. Calculable means the ability to measure and assess the worth of
something. In our context, it often means putting monetary value on tangibles and
intangibles. Accountable means being held responsible for actions taken and the
ability to answer to those who are involved in the process. Accountability can be
towards donors (upwards) or towards beneficiaries (downwards). In order to
investigate this statement
3. Examples Of Soundtracks In Frankenstein
At Birth a monster, At risk humanity In Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Victor
Frankenstein creates a hideous monster to appease his obsession in science. During
the monster s beginning of life he travels through many sufferable and emotional
obstacles. These major events are shown throughout the examples of imagery, and
tone and to intensify the scene a series of soundtracks were included. First, the first
scene primarily relates to the monster s awakening through an example of imagery.
For example on page 97 Frankensteinvividly explains, It was already one in the
morning; the rain pattered against the panes...when, by the glimmer of the half
extinguished light, I saw the dull eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a
convulsive motion agitated its limbs. Throughout this excerpt it is noticeable how
Frankenstein describes the scenery of the event. He explains how... Show more

This event occurs through an example of tone. For instance on page 93 the monster
angrily states, But again, when I had reflected that they had spurned and deserted me,
anger returned, a rage of anger...I turned my fury towards inanimate objects...I placed
a variety of combustibles around the cottage. In this excerpt the monster becomes
furious after the DeLacey family rejects him when he determines in confronting them.
His anger uncontrollably intensifies, even more when the family abandons the
cottage in spite of fear towards the monster. His tone produces an angry emotion since
he states Anger Returned and Rage of anger . Even so, when the monster incinerates
the cottage it supports the conclusion in the monster being enraged. To support the
scene, the whole group chose a suspenseful and thrilling song to exemplify, towards
the audience, the rage the monster felt when he received rejection from the DeLacey

Strategy Target Audience
After analysis, it has been decided that the target audience will be very large but will
include different types of customers for specific communications. Most of the
audience that the communications will appeal to will already have set up a bank
account or have taken out a mortgage. Therefore, it has been decided that rather than
creating a better value image for Williams and Glyn s Bank, it is better to
communicate to customers who are looking for a trustworthy bank.
5. 1 Demographics
Age
Age of target audience has been considered carefully because if media advertisement
is to be most effective, it must target age ranges depending on where and when those
advertisements will be seen. There are 2 types of banking for individual customers:
Personal banking and Private banking.
Personal banking has products such as the current account and this will attract a
larger age range, for example students as well as people from the ages of 23 55.
Students are aged between 18 22 and this account is only suitable for students at
university. They offer interest free overdrafts that help students to
6. Recent Obstacles and Barriers to Voting
In this essay, I would like to discuss the major obstacles to voting, recent changes to
overcome voting barriers and the political influence of changed rules. Low turnout
in the U.S. reflects that there are obstacles for people to voting and changes to
overcome these obstacles may also bring new problems to different social groups. I
will elaborate on these aspects in the following parts. Obstacles to voting and the
absent voting of pure independents are the reason of low turnout in the U.S. today,
which may also have great influence both politically and legally. The voter turnoutis
the percentage of qualified voters who actually go to an electionto cast a ballot.
Overall, the voter turnout in America is low, with only between 51 and 57 percent of
eligible voters going to polls in presidential electionsfrom 2004 to 2012. The reason
why America has such a low turnout is because of several obstacles in voting. The
U.S. do not provide paid holiday for voters who are workers to vote or well
structured politics for different racial voters, other obstacles like advanced
registration and absentee voting also make the voting more difficult for voters. The
pure independents, who are unlike independent leaners or behaviour independents,
are less well informed and less care about the election information and also
definitely less likely to vote on the Election Day, they do not have any preference for
any candidates or parties. As Hershey mentioned in his book,

Hyung! Just say it! I honestly do not feel like dying today! You heard the second

Before you could antagonize J.J some more, the sounds of tires squealing could be
heard, which meant that your members just turned the corner.
With a pretty little smirk painted across your lips, you lifted the heat seeking
missile launcher and rested the body of the weapon on your shoulder. Oh, how
nice of you boys. You lined them up for me. You sweetly announced as you lined
up the eyepiece and waited for the perfect shot. Do you think I can get a strike?
You playfully added as you watched J. Wu drive the car towards you with full force

Bye bye... You happily thought before pulling the trigger, releasing a tiny yet
powerful missile at the enemies. Isn t that kind of excessive for merely lackeys? You

You simply chuckled and then tossed your fun toy to the explosive expert and
second youngest, Joey. Joey caught the delicate weapon with ease and rested the
body on his shoulder, just like you had done earlier. Weren t we were supposed to

8. Narrative Essay On Odette Millenium
The accused needs to stand. The tribunal judge s voice echoed throughout the
cavernous courtroom. Although he sat high upon his chair behind his raised bench,
the lighting around him was dim, providing a sense of anonymity. To his right, a
collection of citizens, too, sat shrouded in anonymity. Several feet across from the
judge, Odette Bordeaux pushed her chair out from behind the small desk from where
she had been placed. The wooden legs of the chair scratched abrasively against the
warped wooden floor causing an earsplitting screech that bounced around the room,
magnifying the sound until it reached a crescendo and then slowly dissipated. She
was highlighted in a strong light that shined down from the ceiling, exposing her to
the juryand judge. Aged in her mid 40s, with chestnut hair pinned neatly into a bun
on the back of her head, Odette stood with the composure of a lone leaf in a stout
fall wind. Her hands, thin but calloused, trembled involuntarily, so she balled them
up and placed them behind her back. She wiggled her toes, hidden inside of her flats,
to work off the abundance of nerves ricocheting around inside of her. It wasn t...

How do you respond to these transgressions?
Odette stood silent before the judge and the collection of citizens, not sure how to
respond. She knew that admitting her guilt would make her vulnerable to severe
repercussion; however, atoning for actions that were necessary seemed like an
illogical thing to do, but it was the truth.
How do you respond to these transgressions, defendant?

11. Pros And Cons Of Social Media
In today s world it s like we are all in a network state. Social media can play a major
role in our lives through the way we portray one another. Not many people know
this but many companies look through your social media before hiring you. I
would want to know my employer personally before hiring them because at some
point people on social media post about drug abuse and provocative images and
comments. Your social media reflects off of you as of who you are as an
intellectual person and not everyone on social media portrays themselves as a well
spoken person. Colleges and universities are now going more indepth into looking
at your resume. Why look at your resume when you are taught to only brag and talk
about your positives on there when on social media you share your true thoughts and
feelings. Although social media may have bad impacts on student lives there are
some pros, for example for students the key to success is studying and most college
students do their studying online.
Getting to involved in social media is a bad habit because you portray only your
appealing sides like i am a sixteen year old girl and i don t post a picture if there is a
mess in the background or if i don t look appealing to one s eye. Although that is
my opinion it is very like true because with social media it s like a game to see who
has more followers or friends . It s all about a competition and whos better. Girls post
provocative pictures to attract followers although it might not

evidence to support their ideas, done through observation, correlations, and even
experiments. The data shows that both viewpoints have their merits, such as the

That is the question that Chan, Wu, Liang, and Yan (2015) posed. They performed
a pretest/posttest designed experiment, where they had 26 young adults, and 22
older adults, take a n back memory test both spatial and numerical, and a finger
sequence test, and then had them either practiced an adaptive spatial n back test,
or a non adaptive n back test for a control. They wanted to see if this could improve
any of the three types of test they were looking at. They found that they could
improve not only the performance of the trained n back test, but also the one that
wasn t trained for, and the finger sequence task as well, the non adaptive training did
not provide these results, confirming that is was not just a measure of more exposure
to the test. It also showed that younger adults not only started out better, but improve
more. This study shows that even if someone does not have a high WM, it can be
improved upon via training, thus proving practice as an integral part of learning and

13. Christopher Columbus Positive Influences
The Beginning of a New Era
Some people may think Christopher Columbus journey was a waste of money, due
to all the rumors about the horrible journey to the new lands. However imagine the
world today without all the distinct cultures, unique languages, and many other
important factors of everyday life today. If no one stepped out of their comfort
zones, the United States would be uneducated about the world people lived in back
then to present time. Life would be filled with more unknown mysteries then it
already is. Columbus voyage to the New Worldwas best for the United States. His
voyage had many positive influences on our country such as discovering different
cultures, new and unique religions, interesting languages, along with new beautiful
landscapes.
One of the many positive influences Columbus journey had on the United States is
discovering different cultures. The main culture focused on in this essay is food
culture. The world wouldn t have discovered different food cultures if no one

no one took the step to new discoveries. Furthermore in 1492 Christopher Columbus

and growth go with each other: no country has ever reached a great economy
without a significant population shift into cities. According to United Nations
databases, the proportion of the 2014 world population living in urban areas was
54 per cent, heading for 66 per cent by 2050. Urbanization is necessary to keep up
growth in developing countries, and it yields other benefits as well. But it is not
pain less or always welcomed by policymakers or the general public. Managing
urbanization is an important part of nurturing growth; neglecting cities even in
countries in which the level of urbanization is low can impose heavy costs.
Historically, urban infrastructures have materialized as a response to emergent issues,
natural disasters are just an example of them. In the more distant past, construction
has been a driven by localized issues such as sanitation, flooding or fire. The reaction
has been to engineer systems (under the powers of centralized, state led planning and
public funding) that solve a single problem at a particular time. Little thought has been

16. Feudal Society In Medieval Europe
A feudal society is one in which the lords carry a significant measure of power by
owning land. Workers known as Serfs are included on the land. Serfs owe the lord
a certain amount of labor as well as give the lord a portion of their goods. The lords
then gives protection to the serfs from their knights. To get knights, the lord offers a
fief(land) to the knight in exchange for military service. A feudal society had the
characteristic of being decentralized. It also had major roles and responsibilities that
everyone needed to follow in order to keep the society intact. During the early
Middle Ages, decentralized governments, attacks from the Vikings and other
barbarians, and the strong power of the Church strongly abetted the formation of the
feudal society in Medieval Europe.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a government system is decentralized, then it may lack a strong military and
infrastructure. After the fall of Charlemagne s empire, his society required a lot of
strong lords with powerful armies to protect the people because there was no strong
centralized government. This led to feudalism because the people were in need of
protection and had no strong centralized government to make a strong army. The
feudal society consisted of a decentralized government and had a strong army.
Another factor that led to the development of feudal societies, were the attacks from
the Vikings and other barbarians. Because The Vikings were so fierce and quick
when they attacked, it made them almost indefensible and very difficult to fight.
When Charlemagne s empire fell, it suffered many attacks from The Vikings that
gradually weakened their government. Feudalism allowed for protection of everyone
and people did not need to rely on a strong, centralized

Remember the Titans is a film based on the true story of Virginia High School
football team working to come together during desegregation in the 1970s. Herman
Boone, a black head coach, is hired to lead the T.C Williams High School Football
Team. The team formerly led by a white coach, Bill Yoast, is better known by their
nickname, The Titans. Both Boone and Yoast must work together to bring their
white and black players together in a time where segregation across racial lines in
the south was commonly accepted. Boone and Yoast are successful in doing this
during the team s training camp, only to return to find that bringing the team
together would be only one of the challenges they faced. We see both coaches work
together and lead the team to an undefeated season that helped unite the town and
overcome its own racial strife. One of the movies overarching themes is team
building through adversity and using diversity to strengthen a team. We see this
team building done by many characters, most notably Yoast and Boone the two
coaches. They are helped in this by the players themselves as well. A white player
named Gerry Bertier and a black player name Julius Campbell. Both players are
initially determined to side along racial lines during their team building experience
at camp. Yoast and Boone help set the example for the players as Yoast swallow his
pride and accepts a lesser position on the coaching staff than what he previously held.
The example set by Yoast helps

23. What Is The Significance Of The French Revolutionary
And...
The period between 20th April 1792, when after prolonged debates the deputies of
the French National Assembly finally declared war on the Habsburgs of Austria
and 18th June 1815, marking Napoleon Bonaparte s defeat at Waterloo, was
characterised by almost constant warfare, save for the brief peace of Amiens
(March 1802 May 1803). In fact, such was the extent of these wars which spanned a
little over two decades that until 1914, the British referred to them as the Great War
.1 Of late, these wars have been an object of much contention and have come under
the microscope to assist scholars in fully appreciating their significance in the
transformation of European warfare. Even today, scholars and historians alike,
remain divided over just how substantial a role the French Revolutionary and
Napoleonic warsplayed in altering the nature of wars after 1792. Without
disregarding either side, Roger Chickering has identified two master narratives
which do a remarkable job of explaining this period s importance, albeit in two
extremely dissimilar ways.2
According to Chickering, the first narrative, a notion hypothesized by Michael
Howard and further developed by Geoffrey Parker, holds that the French
Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars were merely a continuation and intensification of
the tactical and technological changes gunpowder, musketry and artillery that
occurred in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which in turn paved the way for
the colossal standing armies

revolutionaries of Indian Independence Movement. It is also believed that he was
one of the earliest Marxists in India. Bhagat Singh was born in a family that was
actively involved in revolutionary activities against the British rule in the country.
The name given to Bhagat Singh meant `devotee`. `Arya Samaj` had a huge impact
on the life of Bhagat Singh`s father Sardar Kishan Singh Sandhu. His uncles as
well as his father were all part of the `Ghadar Party` that was led by Kartar Singh

Bhagat Singh admitted his crime and made statements in the court against the
British as a tool to publicise their cause of freedom struggle. However, the court
ordered the case to be carried out without members of the association who were
present at the hearing. This order produced a chaos amongst the supporters of
Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh along with other prisoners launched hunger strike in
the jail. The main reason behind this was that the British thieves and murderers
were given better treatment than the Indian prisoners. According to law the Indian
political prisoners were supposed to be given better rights. Bhagat also demanded
that the Indian political prisoners should not be forced to do any sort of undignified
work. This hunger strike lasted for 63 days and ended with the submission of
British power. With this he gained tremendous popularity. Ideology of Bhagat Singh
Bhagat Singh used to maintain diary while in jail. Eventually he made to fill 404
pages. The diary was a precious one as he made numerous notes relating to the
quotations and popular sayings of various people whose vies he supported, prominent
were of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Political thought of Bhagat Singh`s evolved
gradually from Gandhian nationalism to revolutionary Marxism. By the end of 1928,
he and his comrades renamed their organisation the Hindustan Socialist Republican

25. Descartes and the Mind Essay
The topic of the mind and how do we know has been around since the beginning of
time.
It is one of those questions that will most likely never be answered. I mean, the
mind itself is so perplexing that we are still learning stuff about it daily. One
question that Descartes proposed was how do we know? we still are pondering this
one today. We ask it almost every day, maybe not in that way but in some form or
another. So honestly, how do we know? Whenever Descartes started studying about
the mind he denounced all of his previous opinions and started fresh. He first stated
that knowledge is seen as a building in which all the superstructure is resting on a
foundation, and the building is only as strong as its foundation ... Show more content

So he began to ponder on how to prove that he truly did exist. He finally came up
with this: Thought exists; it alone cannot be separated from me. I am; I exist this is
certain. But for how long? For as long as I am thinking; for perhaps it could also
come to pass that if I were to cease all thinking I would then utterly cease to exist. At
this time I admit nothing that is not necessarily true. I am therefore precisely nothing
but a thinking thing; that is a mind, or intellect, or understanding, or reason words of
whose meanings I was previously ignorant. Yet I am a true thing and am truly
existing; but what kind of thing? I have said it already: a thinking thing (Meditation
II 31).
So in proving that he existed he also proved who he was or who we are. We are
thinking things things that can function as long as we think, but the moment that we
stop thinking is the moment that we no longer exist. So is that the moment we die?
Or is it something entirely different? So through this he proved that anything that he
cannot doubt then that is what he is. And whatever he can doubt, then he is not. He
now had the knowledge of knowing about himself of who and what he was.
But there was a problem with this, that even though one doubted something then it
could still be true. One could doubt that he/she won a race even though they did win.

standard orders are the acceptable route to minimize inappropriate orders. b. Timing

27. How Cram Changed My Life Essay
What happened next changed his life. The first thing Cram noticed, true to himself,
was the architecture. Overall, he was unimpressed with the style, which he never
came to appreciate. For about thirty minutes, Cram battled boredom, until the service
started. He described the experience in his own words:
Then, in their white and gold vestments, the sacred ministers came silently to the high
altar, attended by crucifers, thurifers and acolytes, and stood silently waiting.
Suddenly came the bells striking the hour of midnight, and with the last clang the
great organs and the choir burst into a melodious thunder of sound; the incense rose
in clouds, filling the church with a veil of pale smoke; and the Mass proceeded to its
climax with the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Christ. I did
not understand all of this with my mind, but I understood.

In May of 1910, the leading businesspeople of Far Rockaway gathered to dedicate the
Russell Sage Memorial Church. In structuring the building, Cram and his associates
intentionally shifted theology to the forefront by moving the organ. One architecture
magazine pointed out that in Protestant churches at that time, the organ often
overshadowed both the pulpit and the communion table, but in Sage Memorial, the
organ and choir had been relegated to the sides, highlighting the pulpit and table. At
the dedication, a memorial address proclaimed that the very erection of such a
building as this for His glory is a witness to a believer s sense of his unrivaled
greatness and majesty. The architect theologian designed the church to convey
theology and manifest an experience of God s
28. Analysis Of Edward Scissorhands
Tim Burton, the director of Edward Scissorhands, draws inspiration for his work
from fairytales and children s stories. He has always had an affinity for the darker
elements of these stories, which is made evident in the film Edward Scissorhands.
The film s main character is a man named Edward who has scissors for hands.
Later, it is shown that he was a metal figure brought to life by his inventor, an
elderly man who dies before he is able to give Edward human hands. Edward lives
in a mansion on a hill on the edge of town, all alone, until a woman named Peg
finds him and bring him to live with her family. Edward immediately develops an
attraction to Peg s daughter, Kim, though she has a boyfriend. Towards the end of
the film, Kim tells Edward that she loves him, and Edward seems to be completed.
However, Edward struggles to conform to society, and eventually is forced by the
members of the community to return to his mansion, isolated from any human
interaction. The film combines a make believe character, as often found in children s
books, with elements of a horror film, like suspicion and violence. The film features
several flashbacks throughout that elaborate on Edward s past and show how he
came to be. Burton uses these flashbacks to grow the audiences understandingof
Edward, explain events, and emphasize themes.
Burton uses the film s three flashbacks to explain events that happen throughout the
film. They help provide context for Edward s reactions and behavior in

The Failure of Democracy in Germany in the Period 1928 to 1934 Those in power
in Weimar Germany so consistently mishandled the political and economic situation
leading up to the period 1928 1934, that a well structured challenge from the Nazi
Party brought about the fall of democracy. This Nazi Party was stronger
ideologically, structurally within the party and politically, with Hitler as Fuhrer a
major factor himself. In addition, factions within Germany for whom a right wing
political system was more beneficial, such as the army and big business, aided the
eventual change in governance. Thus a series of events occurred which can be

Third, the false Golden Age of economic prosperity created by the Dawes (1924)
and Young (1929) Plans and resulting loans from the US Government the during
the 1920s had come to a close as the Great Depression hit, and unemployment rose
to over 6 million in Germany. Yet, the Weimar Government has survived the
hyperinflation of the early 1920s, and therefore it is easy to over estimate to
impact of the Great Depression on the failure of democracy. The economic
situation did help to draw more voters towards the fringe parties, and create an
atmosphere more willing to foster extremist views as the Weimar Government was
seen as weak and unable to cope with Germany s problems. Thus, the first major
factor attributing to the downfall of democracy in Germany was the preceding
failure of the Weimar Government politically, structurally, and economically to take
a firm hold over Germany. The Nazi Party s strength in three main areas allowed it
to precipitate the failure of democracy in Germany. Ideologically, structurally and
politically the Nazi party was superior to the Weimar Democracy especially in the
period 1928 1934. Ideologically, historian Hans Mommson claims the Nazi Party was

The thesis I choose is love. In our course book, I choose My last duchess , by
Robert browning, Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare, and If by Rudyard Kipling.
My poem from outside is Longing by Matthew Arnold, Life in a love by Robert
browning, and Love and a question by Robert Frost. My Last Duchess, is
absolutely Browning s most famous dramatic monologue, with some good reason.
It engages the reader on a number of levels historical, psychological, ironic,
theatrical, and more. The most engaging element of the poem is probably the
speaker himself, the duke. It is easy to identify him as a freak like monster, since
he had his wife murdered for what comes across as fairly not purposed crimes. And
yet he is charming, both in his use of language and his affable address. The ironic
disconnect that colors most of Browning s monologues is particularly strong here. In
fact, the duke s excessive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three of his children and possibly other people he loved in his life, which this

this poem is hopeful. It displays his emotions in a way that brings hope to his

narrator and also wishes he could be with her to please him and ease the pain that he
is clearly suffering without her. The poem almost gives the reader a longing for her as
31. March Of The Bonus March Essay
The march of the Bonus Army was a group of World War I veterans and their
families who travelled to Washington, D.C. in the summer of 1932. They came from
all over the nation to seek economic relief from the federal government. The
veterans wanted to receive money that was promised for their services in the first
world war and to redeem their service certificates ahead of schedule. The Great
Depressionwas at its height and it was a difficult time to live. Many of the veterans
were poor due to a shortage of jobs. Unemployment was at 25% and everyone that
went to Washington, D.C. camped out in a self made Hooverville . The government
tried to get them to leave, but it was not facile. They were not leaving without a
fight. President Hoover was not going to approve the demands of the Bonus
Marchers, but then neither was Congress. The House of Representatives passed the
bill, but the Senate refused to budge. Once the veterans refused to leave, Hoover sent

When the veterans were eventually paid in 1936 through the Adjusted

numerous families get back on their feet. Several of them obtained a loan for a

Code and Cinematic Signs of A Clockwork Orange
Stanley Kubrick is famous for his dark humor movies. He used a lot of codes and
signs to express his stylish aesthetic violence and sexual implications in his movies.
A Clockwork Orange can be considered as one of the best among them.
In the opening milk bar scene with the mannequins, the bar is full of sexual imagery.
The film continues this motif throughout, combining sex with violence as the social
norm. Alex s parents are completely docile and impotent, having no idea of the
actual state of world affairs. Strangely, Alex has an affinity for Beethoven, which
often plays ever scenes of violence on sex, including rape scenes.

faithful to the book, depicts Alex as being an inherently evil boy from a good home

misguided concept to show that abuse during childhood, especially that originating in
the home, is what leads human beings to abuse others later in life.
In the film, there are a lot of pyramid like shot compositions, Kubrick has frequently
placed artificial light sources at the apex and the number of light sources in these

When Alex and his friends break into the writer s house, it is obvious that there are
four unusual light sources in the house, being put side by side. Each of them has a
huge illuminated globe on a stand. In the same house, but nearly at the end of the

props) behind him gone out. It seems like sunlight comes into the house from
windows off screen, but once the shot is then reversed, audience know that it is

Everyone has their own imagination, in some ways, they represent human s desired
goals. If human can not achieve it in the reality, they would choose to create it in
the imaginary world. When human in their younger age, most of them would
rather to create their own imaginary playmate which would fit all their demands to
play with them. Thus, children would not feel lonely and bored in that way. In
Gopnik s article, he finds that her daughter Olivia has an imaginary friend called
Charlie Ravioli which is different from others. In her daughter s paracosm,
everyone is busy. The existence of an imaginary friend had liberated her into a
paracosm, but it was a curiously New York paracosm (Gopnik 160). As a little
young girl grows up in New York. She is curious about the outside world and wants
to touch the reality. Thus, in her imagination, she creates her own paracosm in
New York pattern. However, for a three year old girl, her paracosm is supposed to
be relaxing and interesting. Paracosm is based on human subjective consciousness
and affection. In her imaginary world, everyone is very busy which like New Yorkers
and is similar to the real world. In other words, it represents that because of Ravioli
busyness, Olivia desires to experience the busy life and is longing into an outside
world which is same as her friend. Thus, she makes her paracosm different from
other kid s paracosm and make it connect to the reality. Olivia s imaginary world has
the same functions that social robots bring to human beings. Technology creates
social robots bas on human s imagination because they need companionship, love
and loyalty. They programmed the robots to help them achieve their goals. In the

way he conveys Perry confuses me and really makes me question what Perry
actually felt if he did indeed feel. Perry was smart but comes off very psychopathic
and Capote conveys it with such an artistic style that it really elucidated who Perry
appears to be. You can see Perry s psychopathic tendencies in such areas as (386)

This sonata was composed around 1802, a point at which Beethoven experienced the
crisis of encroaching deafness. From then on, the composer started to introduce
innovative and bold ideas within classical framework in his musical composition to
expand the expressiveness of his music. His novel approach was evident in his formal
and harmonic arrangement in the first movement of Sonata Op.31 No.1. Distinctive
harmonic departure from the classical sonata formconvention fills the movement with
drama. In classical sonata form convention, tonality is to be established in the first
theme with no ambiguity so as to make contrast with the second theme, which is
normally set in the dominant. In the first movement of Beethoven s sonata Op.31...

He preserved the harmonic integrity by finally returning to the home key G major
(Fig. G) in the closing section of the second theme (mm.265 275).
Fig. F
Fig. G The return to the home key can be seen as a relief from the dissonance
produced by the passages of second themes in E major and b minor. Yet, the tonality
on G major is not distinctive enough to induce a home returning emotion in the
listeners. Therefore, the composer restated the opening of the first theme in G major
and continues with arpeggiando passages (Fig. H) (mm.288 295) establishing the
dominant of the home key. The coda (mm.295 324) consists only simple harmonies
(Fig. I) of the tonic and dominant seventh, reassuring the listeners the sense of finally
returning home.
Fig .H Fig .I Employing remote keys and tonicisation seem not sufficient for the
composer to display his ability to expand the expressiveness of his music. Thus,
Beethoven employed the technique modal mixture through out the second theme in
both exposition and recapitulation. For instance, the second theme in the exposition
starts with B major harmony (mm.65 69) (Fig. C). With a descending scale, the
second theme swiftly changes to b minor (mm.72 79) (Fig. J). It creates abrupt
change in the mood from a sweet dance like major passage to a stormy minor one.
From measure 72, b minor persists throughout the second theme except
36. Demand Management and Fiscal Policy Essay
Demand Management and Fiscal Policy
Fiscal policy is the manipulation of aggregate demand using taxation and or
government spending. The government tends to make most of its fiscal decisions in
the annual budget, usually announced in March of each year.
However, there are a number of problems in using fiscal policy to control aggregate
demand one of the most significant is the problem of time lags.
1. Time Lags
Many aspects of fiscal policy have a delayed effect on aggregate demand. Changing
the fiscal stance can take some time to achieve. For example switching to an
expansionary fiscal policy through increased government spending can take some
time before the full multiplied effects are felt on the economy. If the ... Show more

How much reduced spending is necessary to choke off aggregate demand and bring
inflation down from 2.8 % to 2.5 % ? The economy is complex, and fiscal policy in
reality is such a blunt instrument fine tuning is impossible. This could easily lead to
an expansionary fiscal policy over inflating the economy and thus generating demand
pull inflation. The government would then need to immediately switch from a go to
a stop policy. This change of fiscal stance again only helps to introduce more
uncertainty into the economy eroding business confidence.
Alternatively, if a contractionary fiscal policy overshoots, this could lead to
unexpectedly large demand deficient unemployment. The government would again
be forced into a quick reversal of policy switching this time from a stop and adopting
a go policy.
It can be concluded that at best fiscal policy allows coarse not fine tuning 3.
Financing Expansionary Fiscal Policy
Operating reflationary policies involve running budget deficits ie the government is
spending more than it is receiving in taxation revenue.
This means that the government is having to borrow more money, increasing the
national debt ( this is the total accumulated debt of the government ).
In extreme cases, if the government keeps on borrowing excessively, to ensure that it
can still receive further loaned funds from the private sector, the government may be
forced to

my agility results came back as slower than the range of all ATA players. As a

39. Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events
that are actually the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent
foppery of the world... when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own
behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars: as if we
were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine Balance by
Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the
characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as
government regulations and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them
everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and uproar of the Emergency in India,
Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they struggle to gain
stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various
characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted
societal traditions and systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises
itself as fate.
Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles
creates a line of causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry
contextualizes these gender roles when he describes that, It was hard for [wives]
not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought them beatings from their
husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this quote
to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and
priority in Indian society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception
of Dina, which may explain why the author gives her a central role in the novel.
Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society in which they live
considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is
dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly
widowed, but Mistry depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her
independence in a society that expects her to be subordinate to another man. Even
after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother, Nusswan, compares her

them (Chesemore, D. P. page 1.). What happens first is your skin will become very
cold and red, then numb, hard and then pale. Frostbite is most common on these areas

41. The Minimum Wage
To begin with, I would like to describe what the minimum wage is. The minimum
wage is the lowest wage that companies can pay employees. It should provide enough
income for employees to have the amount which will be sufficient to guarantee the
subsistence minimum. This theme is widely discussed around the world. Many
countries have a type of minimum wage. Most of them regulate it yearly, depending
on the cost of living. Speaking about the minimum wagein the USA, it is lower than
in most other world s countries, although the cost of living is higher. Nowadays the
minimum federal wage in the USA is 7, 25 and it can vary by state or by employee
position. Despite of this fact, some individual states can make their own laws on this.
The minimum wage laws should prohibit employers from manipulating workers.
History
To understand the topic more accurately, let s go deeper into the history of the
minimum wage.
Minimum wage in America isn t as old as you might think: the first federal
minimum wage was first introduced by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938.
Minimum wage was set at 25 cents an hour, which works out to about $4 per hour in
today s money.
That minimum wage was introduced as part of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The FLSA also covers things like youth employment standards, overtime pay,
recordkeeping, and standards for government employees at the local, state, and
federal levels. (Bebusinessed, 2016, para.7).
The Depression covered all segments of the population
42. †the Narrative Voice Is an Important Element in the Use
of...
It is not always easy to categorise literary forms into a particular genre or style of
writing. Therefore to classify the realist novel, which became the foremost form of
writing in the early nineteenth century, we can perhaps best describe it as a body of
prose that is interested and concerned with everyday life. This of course leads us to
assume, as readers of twenty first century novels, that a non realist novelwould
therefore offer the reader an escape into an alternative world where settings and
events are far from what would be expected in everyday life. Two examples of this
that would immediately spring to mind nowadays would be perhaps the science fiction
or horror genres. However, during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries,... Show more

...this discovery was so great and overwhelming, that all the steps by which I had
progressively led to it were obliterated, and I beheld only the result. (Frankenstein,
p.34.) and ...but I doubted not that I should ultimately succeed. (Frankenstein, p.35.).
Yet when he does ultimately succeed , he runs from his laboratory and cannot bear
the responsibility for the creature he has created.
Shelley, in giving us Frankenstein as the hero of the Gothic story with its non
realist romantic and dramatic prose and science fiction roots, has given us a
broken hero. This helps to ground the reader in the realist aspect of the story.
Frankenstein suffers with his nerves, loves and misses his family and constantly
worries for their safety. There is friendship and love and even a wedding which all
make for a realistic feel. And yet for all that Frankenstein does suffer; the illness
brought on by the success of his experiment, the murders of his brother and closest
friend, even the death of his wife, it is difficult to remain sympathetic when he so
adamantly refuses to feel even a small amount of pity for the creature that he created.
When we are eventually within the creature s story, he tells Frankenstein of his
struggle to find a safe place to live, to learn how to communicate and live alongside
other people. Shelley s prose here gives the creature an almost poetic nature,

The Ideal Parent: Brightening a Childs Future Parenting is a big part of every ones
lives; it makes up who you are as a person and in many cases projects who you will
be in the future. Some adults have trouble manipulating their children and teaching
them what is right from wrong, while others have a much easier time doing so. In my
opinion there is no such thing as the perfect parent , both the mother and the father
have their flaws, but what matters is that the parent is always there for personal
support. To me a good parent is someone who is always there to support there
children in both good and bad terms, and a responsible adult that can supply for their
kids necessities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The father is un employed and the mother is making the same amount as her
teenage daughter. This shows a lack of responsibility coming from both parents
because at this age the parents should be concerned about the daughter going to
school and both parents should have a job accounted for. The irresponsibility s of
the parents can affect a child from a young age, not only does it complicates the
life of the kid, but the parents do a poor job of teaching a child the values of being
responsible. One parent shows responsibilities for their kids while the other parent
shows no remorse for her daughter. Finally, being a leader and a hard worker not
only in your children s lives but also in society is what makes a huge difference
between a great parent and a mediocre parent. Showing a child the values of
leadership and hard work can make a kids future that much better. A parent that
holds these two characteristics and is able to put them to use in society will not
only be a great example for their kids, but a superb example of a great parent. In the
poem Those Winter Sundays , Hayden illustrates the hard work and leadership this
father puts in for the family to have a nice comfortable living. Sundays too my father
got up early and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, then with cracked hands
that ached from labor in the weekday weather made banked fires blaze. No one ever
thanked him. (1 5)

Stanford College is struck with a bomb making one person permanently injured
and killing the second. The Cal Bomber is someone who has been sending bombs
to colleges around California trying to get revenge for the rise of technology and
the point across that we need to go back to the time without relying on it. For years
after years of this violence, the Cal Bomber was still not found and remained
anonymous. Natalie, a teacher with two daughters and a husband that gets home very
late because of work, is struck with a feeling that her brother, Bobby Askedahl, is the
terrorizing Cal Bomber. The manifesto of the bomber and her brothers last letter to

The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I
felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through.
There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but
once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book,
that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and
when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this
book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the
characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don t like to

What is an example of a policy or services that seeks to uphold minority language
rights in Australia? Discuss as a case study.
CONTENTION
1. What is your essay contention?
This essay will examine how different ideologies and policies have had profound
negative and positive impacts on minority group languages/indigenous languages in
Australia. The replacement of assimilation ideology by multiculturalism and
introduction of new policy at national and state level, to some extent, had positive
impacts on minority group languages in general and in particular on indigenous
languages. The policy that we will present as our case study is the National Policy on
languages.

I m going to talk about the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington Cemetery in
Virginia. I am also going to talk about the change of the guard.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery is on a hill that
looks over Washington,D.C. On March 4, 1921, Congress approved the burial of an
unknown American soldier from World War Iin the plaza of the new Memorial
Amphitheater. The white marble tomb has a flat faced form and is relieved at the
corners and along the sides by neo classic0 columns, set into the surface. Sculpted
into the east panel which faces Washington, D.C., are three Greek figures
representing Peace, Victory, and Valor. The six wreaths, three sculpted on each side,
represent the six major campaigns of World War I. Written on the back of the Tomb
are the words: Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.
The Tomb was placed above the grave of the Unknown Soldier of World War I.
West of the World War I Unknown are the crypts of unknowns from World War II,
Korea and Vietnam. Those three graves are marked with white marble slabs.
The Unknown Soldier lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda from his arrival in the
United States until Armistice Day, 1921. On Nov. 11, 1921, President Warren G.

This work would have been located in a private Flemish home for private worship but
it now located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Annunciation is
significant to history because it demonstrated the shift of public worship at a church
to private worship in the home. This shift would eventually lead to the Protestant
Reformation in the 16th century.
Annunciation, the fresco, clearly demonstrates the focus on religion in the 15th
century. The fresco is part of numerous frescos that were commissioned by the
abbot of the Dominican monastery of San Marco. The purpose of the fresco was
to give religious reminders and instill piety into the monks who were dedicating
their lives to prayer. There is even an inscription at the bottom of the work that
reminds the monks to say a Hail Mary when they pass the work. Fra Angelico was
greatly influenced by two Gothic artists Gentile da Fabriano and Masaccio. The
influence of Fabriano is evident in the drapery and detail of Gabriel s wings which
give a decorative style to the fresco. The influence of Masaccio can be seen in the
use of realistic depth. The work also uses linear perspective which can be seen in the
line between garden and the architecture. However, the lighting and the proportions
of the figures within the architecture are irrational. It could be said that these artistic
mistakes were

1.Abigail Adams establishes ethos in the opening paragraph by asking questions

knowledgeable about the issue at hand, even though she does not yet have a definite
stance on it. The questions show her urgent tone and care for her husband. The
questions show that she is concerned about him and his well being.

7.The tone of Abigail s letter to John is more sincere than his letter to her. In her
letter you can tell that even though she does not agree with some of his stands on
issues she still loves and supports him. The tone of John s letter is dry, with not
much emotion. He doesn t show much concern for her or her ideals. The only
evidence of intimacy found is when they discuss their children. In Abigail s letter
intimacy is also found when the reader finds that she misses him and worries about
him and when she says she is willing to do anything he needs.
8.If she knew he letter was to be published she probably would have probably not
been as nagging on her husband to write more than he does. She would have
probably thought that other reads may have felt she came off as clingy and sense
desperation so she would have written more calmly and collectively.
9.In a world filled with social media the line between public and private hardly
exists. People these days publish anything and everything on line, regardless of how
private it should be. Of course, there are people who don t feel the need to advertise
their every thought, but most do. Society is so desensitized to knowing everyone s
business that they feel it s okay to publish what used to be thought of as

Both heroes were rewarded for there obedience. Although the stories are similar
they are not identical. In Genesis God sent the Flood to destroy humankind
because of man s wickedness. Unlike The Gilgamesha where the reason was never
said however the sender of the flood was a secret council of gods the idea was
brought up by Enlil , the god of earth wind and air. God favored Noah because he
was a righteous man therefore, he was chosen to build the ark that was three
hundred cubits long, fifty cubit wide, and thirty cubits high, about three stories.
Utnapishtim was chosen out of the cleverness of Ea, the god of wisdom and crafts.
God came directly to Noah to tell him about the Flood where as Ea was swore to
secrecy so he repeated their plans to the reed fence so he would no break the oath
to the group. The boat Utnapishtim was directed to build was a rectangle shaped
measuring one acre and about 6 stories high. When the floor came in Gilgamesh it
was only rainwater however the Flood in Genesis was rain water as well as ground
water. Both floods did indeed wipe out all of humankind but the did not last equal
as long. After the flood Utnapishtim was gifted the gift of eternal life where as Noah
was to multiply and have rule over the animals. The relationship between humans to
Divinity based on the comparing of the two stories is in Genesis as well as
Gilgamesh is that humankind was to be wiped out,

Since the early 2000 s we have seen the rise and power of the mass media. However
what most people fail to realize are how mass media manipulation negatively

racism and is still being controlled to this day by racism. So naturally every

Physical matureness by and large cause a normal growth in strength, quickness,
and size which are significant traits for sport success but the only thing youth
sports reveal to us is that some players are maturing more rapidly than others. At
the youth level being bigger, stronger, and faster are typically all that is required to
stand out in a group of less prepared underdeveloped athletes. But it is not a pure
marker in terms of who is really the most gifted At more mature ages skill and
accomplishments are closely related, but at the young sport level such a relationship
is untimely since achievement gains are dependent on more than just changing
physical attributes. Victory in youth sport is comparative to whoever is on the team
or field; therefore accomplished adolescents are distinguished in relation to others
they are competing with and not against some universal test. Few of these players
may be more accomplished between their Slower maturing mates but it doesn t
maintain that they are also more gifted. In any event, we have an inclination to
glorify a youthful competitor s ability by naming him as super talented when the
pure argument is that he s really just maturing faster then his peers. The next terrible
thing plaguing black males athletes is the illusion of pro success. Due to the
overexposure of professional athletes and chance to hit it big. As well as over praise
for these professionals make young males aspire to do nothing other then become

Fluoride Free Nz is one of those organisations who are against fluoridating water
supplies in New Zealand. As some are aware, the fluoride added to our water source
is hydrofluoric acid which is a by product of aluminum, steel, cement and phosphate,
and is manufactured to make things such as plastics and toothpaste. From these
byproducts, diseases such as, Cancers, Skeletal Fluorosis and Dental Fluorosis are
more likely to occur. There have also been studies that children s IQ s lower over
time. A concern for many New Zealand residents is the fact that the intake of
Silicofluoride cannot be a controlled dosage, due to not knowing how much an
individual will drink daily. Of course, the more intake of fluoride means less is
going to be released from the body. In adults, around 40 50% of the non excreted
fluoride remains in the body. Large quantities accumulate in the bone tissue and
pineal gland, affecting movement of an individual. Children excrete even less, with
around 80% remaining in their bones. Knowing this, more New Zealanders are
opting to remove fluoride from the water

The debate about what and how the software requirement specification (SRS)
should be made between customers and contractors or suppliers continues. Also
most computer science engineers and researchers agree that, software
requirements specification permits a rigorous assessment of requirements before
design can begin and reduces later redesign. It should also provide a realistic basis
for estimating product costs, risks, and schedules [1], in other words, the SRS is
the step that one would use to find the path to getting one s own goal. Since there
is not a standard for the SRS [14], it is necessary to find the hidden pattern for both
the people who is making the SRS and the people who is reading the SRS.
Furthermore, in software design engineers can refer the SRS as a part of larger
problem solving process which encompasses problem determination and generates
the solution for the problem. Thus, researchers consider that it is highly possible
that the SRS can be classified under the problem solving cycle [2], which engineers
will recognize the problem, re define the problem in terms of making systems,
develop a strategy plan to fix the problem, organize the knowledge of the problem
domain figure out the resources that user s disposal by listing functionalities, monitor
user s implementations, and evaluate the solution for accuracy. In SRS is
unnecessary to follow the exact order but it is highly likely that completed one
section with a problem another problem will pop up in
54. Reflection On Christianity
Christianity Summative Reflection
Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. Most forms of
Christianity hold that Jesus is the son of God. There are many similarities between
my faith, Roman Catholicism and my non Catholic, group choice of Christian
denomination, Jehovah s Witness. This branch of Christianity, Jehovah s Witnesses,
was formed by the WatchTower Society and also founded by Jesushimself. Learning
about a Christian Denomination has changed my perspective of Christianity through
the Jehovah s Witnesses history, beliefs/rituals, sacraments and how they spread the
message of God to others.
The history and beliefs/rituals of the Jehovah Witness branch of Christianity has
altered my perspective of Christianity in general. Since the beginning of the 19th
century to the present day, the Jehovah s Witnesses have brought forth a different
perspective about Christianity. The people of the Jehovah s Witnesses community
believe that Jesus is not the messiah, and do not believe in the Holy Trinity. They
believe that Jesus is not the one to worship because he is less than God too just as
humans. This puts in perspective that God is the Father Almighty and no other
person, or spirit is above him. Before learning about Jehovah s Witnesses, I did not
think there was this many branches of Christianity. I also thought every Christianity
denomination believed in the Holy Trinity as seeing The Father, The Son, and The
Holy Spirit. This topic has impacted
