Revenge Essay
When I was younger I had the desire to win, I couldn t stand losing; it was the worst feeling a
young, immature 11 yr old could ever feel. So when St Mary s Primary School won the Armando
cup my friends and I were going through a period of torment. The only way to resolve this was by
getting revenge on St Mary s.
Robert Owen Memorial Primary School versus St Mary s Primary School was the clash that had
earned a spot in the Armando cup final. Everybody in Lanark knew that this was the biggest
rivalry in the district. My school, Robert Owen Memorial Primary, was the best team in the
district; we were always winning something. As 11 yr olds do we got ahead of ourselves and ...

At the end of extra time it was 3 3 I had scored our 3rd which lifted my confidence a lot. So it then
went to a penalty shoot out. On penalties it was 4 3 I scored mine to make it 4 4 .St Mary s scored
their 5th it was all down to Fraser McNeil if he missed it was all over for Robert Owen Memorial
Primary School! Fraser steps up takes a short run up (at this point i m feeling really nervous I
was nearly praying for it to go in), and hits the post! I felt as if this was an act of injustice. We
had just lost the cup final to St Mary s. I felt like this as I m the worst loser on the planet. But wait
until you hear what we did to them ;).
My friends and I thought it would be funny to play a practical joke on St Mary s so we then
decided that we needed to plan our act of revenge. That night we went to our den. Our den was a
place we hung out when we needed to cool own but it was also the place where we planned our
revenge. Our first idea was that when St Mary s paraded their trophy on Lannimer s day we
would burst their tyres on the St Mary s float by shooting them with airguns. Then we thought: no,
too malicious. I thought that this would be one of our great ideas we will never carry out I
thought we would never get our revenge. But one of my more subtle friends called Ryan came up
with the idea

The Federalist Papers
Introduction
The Federalist Papers present a series of essays written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton,
and John Jay. This volume of eighty five essays, written between October 1787 and May 1788, is
perhaps the most famous, and at the same time the most important newspaper column ever
published. These essays are considered to be among the most important documents of the Founding
period, together with the Constitution and Civil Rights Act. In these essays the authors provided
facts and justification for the Constitution, with also raising and discussing some of the most
important political issues of the time. The sole purpose for writing the essays was to convince
people of the State of New York to ratify the U.S. Constitution. People of New York and its political
leaders were strongly against the Constitution and they firmly opposed new government. The main
reason for that is the fact that the State of New York gain independence under the Articles of
Confederation and was becoming rich trough the trade. The citizens of this state believed that they
have no interest in ratifying the Constitution and joining the Union.
The writers of The Federalist Papers were very concerned that because of New York s reluctance
and decided to take the matter into their hands and came all the efforts in order to change their
minds. They were very well aware of the relationship between human nature and popular
government. Hamilton, Madison and Jay were apprehensive of the ethics of the

Impact Of Space On The Space Industry
Space Industry is a broad term. It includes a huge variety of different sectors and industries. It is
not easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the
industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry
generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry
in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion.
The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we
can observe in Figure 1 in the last 40 years space sector revenue s has grown significantly faster
than the global GDP. Moreover, the development of many modern widespread technologies have...

In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and
commercial.
The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other
sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important
scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions
required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness
and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the
sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the
only one specifically designed to be profitable.
As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space
strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper,
but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in
isolation.
SPACE INDUSTRY S VALUE CHAIN
When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public
funded projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), the Voyager program, which is now
exploring the boundaries of our solar system, or the Mars Rover, which is studying Mars surface.
This is understandable, as such

Essay on WhatВґs Minimata Disease
Minamata disease comes from ingesting mercury contaminated fish or shellfish. Minamata was a
small fishing village in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. It is now considered a city, but was the sight
of the most unhuman and environmental destruction cases in history. It started in the 1930s with a
company that has been there since the 1907, the Chisso Corporation started to make
acetaldehyde, which is used in some plastics. Acetaldehyde (C2H4O or CH3CHO) or Ethyl
Aldehyde is sometimes referred as MeCHO. The company s product waste spill into the village s
fishing bay, which bacteria turned the heavy mental into methyl mercury and later on organic form
of methyl mercury chloride (CH3HgCl). The small village relied heavily on its income of... Show

A week later her younger sister was sent to the hospital with the same symptoms. Dr. Kaneki and
Dr. Hosokawa examined the two sisters, and noticed their symptoms was the same as many others.
They immediately notified Minamata public health center, and they sent their director Dr. Ito to
interview the two mothers. Alien Smith was an investigative reporter, and interviewed the
neighbors of these two little girls, and found out that they were regarded as highly intellect before
the disease. Alien Smith also noticed that animals around the area, were acting very peculiar. They
had the same symptoms as the two children, and some of them had jump right into the bay. Dr.
Hajime Hosokawa from the Chisso hospital started to investigate the disease. He ran some test to
find out if it was contagious or not, and where the main source was. He concluded that the source
was the waste coming out of Chisso dumping sight, but he needed to test his theory. He gave the
waste to numerous cats, and depending on the amount of waste, the cats symptoms escaladed and
the final result was death. He concluded that ill patients and animals were eating the same fish from
the bay that Chisso was dumping in. Unfortunately, Dr Hosokawa results were never made public
until years after the incident. Alien Smith and other investigators accused Chisso Corporation of
being the cause, so they stopped the dumping into the bay and moved it into the Minamata river
delta instead. Chisso

The Book Tale Of Despereaux
I chose the book Tale of Despereaux. The reason why is quite simple. I love this book and I always
have. This book, I feel like, has always understood, that is if books could understand, and I have
always had a deep connection with it and its characters. I have read this book several hundred
times and it will never ever get old to me. I could read it when I m fifty. This was my favorite book
back in the day, and now because of this assignment, I get to read it once more! I will never and
can never forget this book. Book one, Coda. This book is split up into four books, and here we
will start off with the reading of the first five chapters. Despereaux was the only surviving mouse
out of all that were born. He had great big ear for his size, and his eyes were open at birth. He got
his name Despereaux for all of the sadness and despair were they live. His parents, along with
everyone else in the mouse community did not think he would live, but he did. His brothers and
sisters picked on him quite often for his size and for all of his looks. He didn t mind, he never
even let it bother him when his mother or father called him a disappointment for his looks or his
inability or unwillingness to act like a mouse. His brother, Furlough, took him on a tour of the
castle to learn how to be a mouse, but his attempts to teach Despereaux went in one ear and out
the other. His sister even tried taking him to the library to learn how to eat paper. But when
Despereaux saw the paper he saw

How Did Child Labor Occur During The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution is known as a time of progression and development in European nations
and America. The new movement allowed the mass production of items with new inventions and
factories. However, the Industrial Revolution also brought many negatives to society and its
people. The need for more work and the increase in production meant that more workers were
needed, and less money was being paid to workers. As a result, child labor was prominent, and
greatly affected millions of children. Also, the factoryand workplace conditions were poor and not
suitable for any person, let alone a child. There were several possible solutions to these problems
that could have been implemented at the time.
Because there was such a need to work in order for families to survive, child labor was on the rise
during the Industrial Revolution. This corrupt situation is best described by Edward Potter, a coal
viewer and manager of a collier. He notices that because so many families were poor, parents were
begging for their eight year old children to start working. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Eventually, the government did put in place different laws that prevented Child Labor, but it
was years later. The Factory Act of 1833 was passed to limit the number of hours a child could
work, but it was nowhere near ending the abuses that occurred in the factories. The act only
limited the amount of hours a child could work, and nine year olds were still allowed to work.
For tens of years, kids still had to work tiresome shifts for little pay. At the time, a communist
revolution as suggested by Karl Marx would have helped this problem. This is because under
Communism, every has economic equality and there are no social classes, which mean children
would no longer have to work because they would be provided on the necessities in life by the

Reflection On My Second Lesson
My second lesson was centered around letter recognition and identification. I had a big sensory
bin filled with somewhat wet sand. In the bin, there were real seashells that the children had to dig
up, brush the sand off, identify the letter on it, and match it to the corresponding letter on the
paper. When it was time to talk about my center station, all of the children were very engaged. In
my opinion, it was probably due to the fact that it was my lessonor that there was a big bin of sand
in their classroom. Regardless, I tried my best to build off of their natural curiosity. When they
arrived at my station, I build engagement and interest by explaining that I hid a bunch a shells
that had a hidden letter on it. The children were all immediately ready to start digging through to
find all the letters. Then, I modeled for them how to use the materials and what to do with the
shells. They all started asking me if they could come to my center first. Based off of my last
lesson, I was prepared to have little to no time for an introduction as my cooperating teacher
typically just briefly shows what is at each center. Fortunately, I had enough time to do almost
everything in my lesson plan. The only thing I had to cut from my lesson plan was singing the
alphabetsong. I had to cut this because I had a very limited amount of time and wanted to make
sure the children stayed engaged and interested. Since they are three and four years old, I have
learned that their attention span is very short; consequently, I think I adapted well. Although not
required, all 10 children came to my center at least once. About 5 children came back twice and one
childrefused to leave my center until he found all the letters of the alphabet (pictured below is the
final product created by the little boy when he found all the letters). Overall, I would say that the
children were very engaged with my lesson and I effectively built up anticipation and interest.
When I look back at my activity as a whole, I would consider it to be a success. My cooperating
teachers loved it, the director liked it, and the children liked it. I left field that day feeling
extremely happy and satisfied. During the children s lunch discussion time, a

Colonialism In Australia
Introduction Colonialism is defined as the practice of domination, which involves control of one
person to another (Plato.stanford.edu, 2018). This usually involves the settlement of citizens from
colonial power in the colony. Indigenous Australians have been marginalised by settler colonial
Australians, results of this has impacted the way Indigenous Australians are viewed and treated in
contemporary society. Indigenous people have struggled to regain their rights such as reclaiming
their identities that were misappropriate by the presence of colonials (Maddison, 2013).
Structural violence of settler colonialism continues to dominate the Indigenous population in
contemporary Australia. In many ways settler colonials continue to dominate ... Show more content

Terra Nullius is an example of how settler colonialism tried to take ownership of Australian land.
Terra Nullius is a Latin word that means land belonging to no one (Craven and Parbury, 1999).
Captain James Cook claimed Australia and declared that Australia seems to have no fixed habitation
but instead habitants of the land, move around from place to place like wild beasts in search of
food (Craven and Parbury, 1999). The British settlement and takeover of Australia affected, attitudes
and treatment of Indigenous. Terra Nullius denied the humanity and existence of Indigenous
Australians and can be considered the cause of most racism towards Indigenous Australia. This has
led to the White Australia Act, which depended on the non existence of Indigenous and also the
racialisation of Indigenous Australians. The Indigenous population in Australia became subject to
racialised identity categories based on their degrees of blood, labelling and classifying people as
full blood, half cast (Maddison, 2013). This policy led to removing Indigenous children from their
families and communities. This policy was enforced with the intention to erase the Indigenous
population, by blending them into invisibility within the colonial population (Maddison, 2013).
However, in 2008, the federal parliament gave an apology to the stolen generation (The
Conversation, 2018). This comes after many years of

Response To The Jesus I Never Knew By Philip Yancey
Response to The Jesus I Never Knew the Jesus I Never Knew, by Philip Yancey, was a lot more
interesting than I was expecting. When I first read the plot, or summary, on the back of the book
itself, I begin to wonder what this book what relate to me in what way. As I continued to dig deeper
in the marvelous writingof Philip Yancey, I instantly began to relate to his occurrences, and
remembering of Jesusas a young child. Just as I begin to read the first chapter, I noticed Yancey
referred to Jesus as the nurturer in his Christian walk. As children we always have an imagination
of what Jesus is and ours were very similar. He is the man we run to when there is no one there to
comfort us in our valleys. As Yancey continues, he begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But his appearance is not what made people want to follow Him, and listen to what Jesus had to
say, because what he said, need to be heard by the people on this earth.
Yancey brings Sermon on the Mount, in to perspective and breaks down what we think is
something to look up to in our lives, but then talks as if, this day in time, the things we should be
doing as Christians is somehow hard to do. To summarize, how to be a Christian. How do we
compare our lives to the high expectations. When sometimes we cannot go a day without sin. I
don t think Yancey was bashing the sermon itself, but explaining that sometimes being a Christian
is hard, and our expectations are high. But if we keep our eyes on Jesus in everything we do in life,
we will be the best we can be.
Something we all love about Jesus was his ability to preform miracles on human beings just like
us. Yancey tries to explain why Jesus was on this earth and did the things He did while he was
here. Yancey begins to describe some of the miracles Jesus did like water to wine for example.
Then Yancey questions why some of these miracles were preformed and why some were not.
This was hard for me to understand because I have never thought about this before. Why did some
people receive the blessing of healing and others did not? Honestly, I begin to come up with my
own thoughts and begin to think I cannot compare people that received and people who did not.

society who wants to bring honor back to the Mortal Kombat tournament. The main storyline was
expanded through comics and sequels, involving the evil forces of Outworld, who use the
tournament in order to take over Earth (known as Earthrealm) ( Mortal Kombat ).
Introduction:
Roughly 68 percent of all American households play computer or video games. Of this, 25 percent
are under the age of 18. While the average age of a typical video game player is 35, it does show a
large number of individuals are playing video games before college and while they are still at
home, living with their parents and attending grade school. Media misrepresents video games as a
violent distraction for its audiences. Stereotypes of games like Grand Theft Auto or Mortal Kombat
have dramatically changed the video game world.
When playing violent video games most players can distinguish the difference between the game
and reality, but for others their game and realities are the same. According to Tom Mcgrath, violent
shooting games might not be just a game to some people. Playing a

To add without a doubt that killing another person is a terrible crime that one can commit. our
government is states that capital punishment is the wright choices because, after all, the criminal did

Also, some people support capital punishment the fear of being killed is going to stop criminals
from murdering.
Also, the cost of the death penalty is really high, the cost of keeping someone in jail for life which
will cost 600,000 per prisoner and just for one person to be put to death is would cost 2.3 million

Anne Sexton s Retelling of Cinderella Essay
Anne Sexton s Retelling of Cinderella
Michelangelo, perhaps the most gifted sculptor and painter of all times, once said that geniuses
stand on the shoulders of other geniuses. As Michelangelo built upon the brilliance of his
predecessors, Anne Sexton does the same with her poem Cinderella . Fairy tales originated as oral
traditions and were passed along and sculpted by thousands of story tellers. Each raconteur changes
elements in the story to fit their individual needs. Sexton reinvents Cinderella as a poem and
integrates the story with her own opinion and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few years into union, Anne had two children, Linda and Joy, and was hospitalized for
postpartum depression after the birth of both children (McCartan 2). Her depression was severe,
and Sexton was suicidal for most of her adult life. On October 4, 1974, shortly after the release of
Transformations, Anne could no longer stand the pressures of her existence and committed suicide
(McCartan 35).
This biographical information is essential to understanding Sexton s influences in writing
Cinderella because the poem was written out of personal turmoil. The majority of Sexton s
poetry is confessional style, but through her interpretation of Cinderella , Sexton gives herself a
more discrete outlet for her passions (Ostriker 255). Her biographer Diane Middlebrook notes
that this poem was a way to place her struggles В‘in legend rather than personal history (37). There
are two notable examples of this in Cinderella. First, the father and step mother are reminiscent of
Sexton s own parents. In the poem the father is distant and the step mother is the cause of all of
Cinderella s hardships. Anne s mother and father both struggled with alcoholism, a struggle which,
according to her biographers, influenced Sexton s substance abuses later in life. Secondly, Sexton
describes the way she sees herself through the stepsisters. She describes them as, pretty enough / but
with hearts like blackjacks

Nora and Kristine Nora Helmer and Kristine Linde represent the role of women in Henrik Ibsen

Persuasive Essay On Bitter Fruit
It is not unknown the discrimination towards the black race, especially African Americans during
the 20th century. Therefore, in 1936, American writer, teacher and songwriter Abel Meeropol,
composed the poem Bitter Fruit. In an atmosphere of violence, he was inspired by a picture
taken in Marion, Indiana portraying the lynchings of Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith. These
two African Americans were arrested after being suspects in a robbery, murder and rape case.
Nowadays Lawrence Bittler s photography has become an iconic image of lynching. Although it
was originally a written poem, American blues jazz singer Billie Holiday performed it as a protest
song for the first time in 1939. The song is known as Strange Fruit where its lyrics and her

Domestic Violence People who live together trust one another. Children trust parents to love them
not to hurt them and give the economic support as well as the emotional support to grow up, in a
romantic relationship a women should be able to trust the man she is with as well as man should be
able to trust the women she is with. One thing that breaks trust in these relationships is abuse.
Abuse
Abuse varies in every relationship. Abuse can be physical, such as slapping, punching, using
weapons. Mental abuse includes verbal abuse that brings a victim s self esteem down, this leads to

Some abusers are uncomfortable with feelings such as, being lonely, sadness, embarrassment, or
even love. Abusers often get violent when they start to feel these emotions or when they start
running out of words to keep arguing verbally. Alcohol is proven to contribute to abuse. When a
person is drunk or had been drinking they tend to not be fully capable of thinking straight.
Drinking tends to make people lose their temper easier. When a parent is drunk it is best to leave
the house if possible, when a partner is drunk it is best not to argue especially if they tend to get
angry fairly easy.
Domestic Violence Each year, an estimated 30 percent of women who become homicide victims
die at the hands of men with whom they have a family (Thomson Gale, 2005, p. 21). People
blame the murdered women for not leaving the relationship. Unfortunately people do not realize
that most women that leave the relationship have a higher risk of being murdered at the time of
separation. They have a 75% higher risk of being murdered if they leave than the women that
stay. Men also are victims of domestic violence. In domestic violence men make up five percent
of the victims it has. A need of control leads abusers to act out violence. Every year, at least one
million women are physically, sexually, psychologically abused by their husbands, or common law
partners, two women are murdered by their male partners every week (Thomson Gale, 2005, p.26).

Dao De Jing And Daoist Philosophy
Imitating a particular action, thing, or other person first entails perception and observing. Imitation
of nature to live in harmony is the basis of Daoist philosophy, which begins with observation.
Having ideals and a path stems from understanding how to perceive and achieve the ideal through
the path. The process of realization begins with chapters from the Dao De Jing, practicing Aikido
with intent, and the connection with our environment. A major part that I observed in the Dao De
Jing is the realization that Dao is significant to a harmonious life. Focusing on Dao and the
passages of the Dao De Jing tie together what Daoist philosophers believe. All these things
combined, brings about the principles of Daoist philosophy.
Before parallels can be drawn between ideals and paths in Daoism, Daoist philosophy and Dao
must be defined. It is hard to put Daoist Philosophy into a nice, neat sentence because of the
complexity and vast amount of information on the subject. For the intent of this paper, Daoist
philosophy is defined as a Chinese philosophy that takes a more naturalist approach to religion and
way of living. It is the connection between imitating nature and harmony. Dao is defined in Chapter
1 as the constant moving everything that surrounds us. It is not tangible, it is just what it is, and
you do not know exactly what this something is.
Living in Harmony with everything surrounding oneself requires a realization of what is around
and how to properly interact with one s surroundings. One must join an ideal and a path to
achieving that ideal. Without a path, can the desired goal have the outcome that is intended? A
reading from the Dao De Jing suggest no, that the path and ideal are connected and one. But first,
one must learn how to perceive nature. Perceiving nature is necessary to be able to imitate it
correctly. Observation of what surrounds us and how we interact with our environment. Chapter 36
of the Dao De Jing talks about the idea of perceiving and understanding one s insight. Whatever is
gathered in must first be stretched out; whatever is weakened must first be made strong; whatever
is abandoned must first be joined; whatever is taken away must first be given. This translates to if

Analysis Of Tony Kushner And Athol Fugard
Both Tony Kushner and Athol Fugard demonstrate the effects societal standards have on
individuality. Kushner s Angels in America focused on homosexuality and the AIDS crisis during
the Reagan Era, whereas Fugard s Master Harold ...and the Boys concentrated on the issue of racism
taking place during the South African apartheid. Whether striving for a new identityor being limited
by one according to societal standards, all of the characters featured in these plays struggle to
come to terms with their true self. In this paper, I will explain the effects that stereotypes and
labels had on the growth, or lack thereof, of these individuals. A political call to arms for the age of
AIDS and homosexuality, Angels in America follows the lives of two very different, but equally
troubled couples: Jewish word processor Louis Ironson and his estranged lover, Prior Walter and
closeted gay Republican lawyer Joe Pitt and his attention seeking, Valium addicted wife, Harper.
Louis leaves Prior after realizing that he cannot endure the pressure that comes along with being
someone s fulltime caretaker. Meanwhile, Joe grapples with the idea of moving to Washington
after receiving a new job offer whilst simultaneously dealing with his wife s drug addiction and his
homosexuality. Within those two pairs, each of the four individuals struggles to come to terms with
his or her true identity. As the play progresses, the couples lives become increasingly intertwined as
they search for ways to

Examples Of Tolerance In Necttar In A Sieve
Collins dictionary defines A foible is a characteristic which someone has and is considered rather
strange, foolish or bad but which is also considered unimportant.
Tolerance:
It is the capacity to endure continued subjection to something such as a drug or environmental
conditions. In the technical sense, it is the ability or willingness to accept the existence of opinions
or behaviour that one dislikes or disagrees with.
Tolerance of foibles:
In life, we have to tolerate foibles of many others; but this tolerance may be a blessing or a curse,
depending upon the situation. The present article studies the tolerance of Rosie in R.K.Narayan s

Rukmani in Kamala Markandaya s Nectar in a sieve:
M. K. Bhatnagar in his essay, Kamala Markandaya The insider outsider says,
The protagonist narrator Rukmani is caught in a hard peasant life; the vagaries of nature.
Rukmani, the heroine of Kamala Markandaya s Nectar in a sieve is a poor peasant woman and the
whole novel depicts the common dilemmas of misfortunes faced by ordinary peasants particularly
the tenant farmers. Rukmani has to face a lot of hardships; but she remains spiritually stoic and
strong as in the case of Rosie, because of the traditional attitudes and beliefs.
Rukmani s childhood marriage:
Rukmani is the fourth daughter out of six children of the village headman. The other three are
Shanta, Padmini and Thangam. As a young woman, she has her own dream of having a grand
wedding for herself. Unfortunately under the British rule her father s prestige was much
diminished . Her parents cannot afford the dowry for a more financially stable bridegroom. She is
married at the age of twelve only to an illiterate and landless tenant farmer, Nathan. After the
marriage, she travels in a bullock cart to reach her husband s home. To her bewilderment and
disappointment she sees only a mud hut for them to dwell in. Her dreams of a prosperous and
grand life are shattered. She tries to conceal her disappointment and discomfort by saying This mud
hut, nothing but mud and thatch, was my home. Her fear and fright vanish when she learns that the
mud hut is built with

Essay on Haydn and Mozart
Between the years 1782 and 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote six string quartets which
were dedicated to his friend and fellow composer, Joseph Haydn. These quartets, known as the
Haydn Quartets, were among Mozart s first six masterpieces in the medium (Keller, 64). In
composing these works, Mozart was inspired by Haydn s recently published Opus 33, which is
also a set of six string quartets. When Haydn wrote his Opus 33 in 1781, it was the first time he
had written for the string quartetin a period of ten years. With the six pieces of Opus 33, Haydn
established a style of chamber musicthat he described as being in an entirely new, very special
manner (Pauly, 45). At the same time, it had also been nearly 10 years since... Show more content

The royalty of the time was especially interested in having small instrumental groups play at
their social gatherings and official events. The music of these small groups was known as
chamber music, because it was usually meant to be performed in a royal patron s private
chambers (Rosenstiel, 547). In order to suit the tastes of the aristocracy, this type of music was
generally light and elegant. Both Mozart and Haydn were masters of the classical style. Haydn,
born 24 years before Mozart, was an innovator in the development of the style. Mozart followed
Haydn s lead and went even further by becoming a true master of classical forms. Mozart s works
also show a strong sense of emotion, which adds to their power.
Haydn wrote more than 80 string quartets during his long career. By the early 1770s, the four
movement format was standardized in Haydn s quartets (548). After an exciting first movement in
sonata allegro form, Haydn often used a minuet for the second movement. The third movement was
usually a slow piece and the fourth movement was usually another up tempo form like the first
movement. This order of movements differed from the traditional order, in which the second
movement was a slow piece and the third movement was a minuet. By changing the order, Haydn
expressed an element of the classical style, because the four movements are balanced in terms of
their expressive weight (Rosen, 280).

Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay
The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of
transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report
has been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s
room. In addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s
information. These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient
information, nor involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was
not shared with the patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and
development of Patient Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report
away from the patient. Tan (2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurseto nurse
communication, but it must involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the
patient into the end of shift report is essential for providing patient centered care and patient
satisfaction. Nursesat the St Jude Medical center in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit are not
exceptional. Most of the end of the shift report between nurses are still done away from the
patient. Aim of this paper is to make a change in the work place, which is the process of giving end
of shift report at the bedside incorporating patient and families in the acute in patient rehabilitation

The Dust Bowl was a treacherous storm, which occurred in the years of the 1930 s, which
affected the Midwestern people, an example the farmers, which taught us new technologies and
methods of farming. John Steinbeck wrote in his novel from 1939 The Grapes of Wrath: And
then the dispossessed were drawn west from Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas; from
Nevada and Arkansas, families, tribes, dusted out, Caravans, carloads, and homeless. Totals of

Essay On African American Voting Rights
The African American Voting Rights Up until the year 1870 African Americans could not vote in
any election in American. (U.S. Voting Rights). In the past America has been making a lot of
changes in our voting system s equality. In the present, legally African Americans have the same
rights as a white man does. In the future the rights will not get any better or worse. Throughout
history The African Americanvotingrights have improved to the present day and will stay the same
in the near future. The past voting rights for African Americans have improved from 1870. The
African American community had to fight and work very hard though to get these rights. They had
to work though many things like jim crow lawsto get their rights. They went from not being able
to vote the first black president in American history. The history of the African American voting
rights have changed a lot over the years but it was not easy. In the year 1870 the 15th amendment

not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or

The Complex Issue of Climate Change
The effects of climate change are much more complex then a simple rise in temperature. Habitats
and the species that rely on them are disappearing, in what I view as a snowball effect of
biodiversity loss. A reduction in a species habitat will have dire consequences for them as well as
other species that co exist with them, over time every aspect of that environment is affected. In the
Artic, sea ice is melting at a faster then it has in centuries. According to an article published by
Aarhus University Climate change is by far the worst threat to Arcticbiodiversity. Temperatures are
expected to increase more in the Arctic compared to the global average, resulting in severe
disruptions to Arctic biodiversity some of which are already visible (Aarhus University, 2013).
Among the many species being affected, the polar bearpopulation has already experienced serious
decline because of its reliance on sea ice. Polar bears rely on the sea ice to hunt, breed, and, in
some cases, den. Changes in their population and distribution are starting to become noticeable
within the Arctic ecosystem. There are social, environmental and economic effects associated with
the negative effects climate change has on the polar bearpopulation. Because of these dire
consequences related to climate change, swift action must be taken in order to help protect this
species and its environment. Polar bears have an extensive history in human culture, starting very
early in history and

The True Lesson Of 1984
1984 is a renowned dystopian novel that depicts an oppressive, dark English society where English
socialism is fervently adopted by the central government, also known as the Big Brother. However,
the fundamental notion of this political philosophy, which is to overcome the greed, waste,
competitiveness, and inequality as described in the article The True Lessons of 1984, are distorted
and trimmed down into three sacred principles: Newspeak, Doublethink and Mutability of the past.
The incidental appearance of totalitarian dictatorship that comes with such philosophy, on the other
hand, is almost inevitable, for socialism is an ideology that essentially is against the human nature
as well as repressing the instincts. In the article,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the general public, on the other hand, there are also such treatments that are used to influence
people in the means of propaganda, espionage, and falsification. After letting Oceanian citizens
deny their own nature, the second step Big Brother takes, is to have them deny the existence of the
truth. Schlueter mentions, based upon Bacon, that Baconian science rests on the assumption that
reality conforms to the mind, not the mind to reality and remarks afterwards, This is not far from
the claim that the mind makes reality. To deny the reality, is to deny one s sanity and senses. How
many in total is two fingers plus two fingers? 3? 4? 5? As suggested by the Big Brother, it can be
whatever number one wants it to be as long as he thinks about it subjectively. People can create
anything in their mind with or without any factual information. As a result, doublethink and
mutability of the past are introduced. Since laws of nature are essentially unalterable, doublethink
manages to instill a sense of duality to it, making people believe its contradictory characters. In the
book, for example, O brien makes Winston, who have the scientific knowledge about gravity, to
believe that he is actually floating above the ground. Therefore, doublethink requires absolutely no
factual information whatsoever. Falsification of the past is the another mean that Big Brother uses
to distort the truth in people s mind by providing them with facts that have been

Social Phobia Disorder And Social Anxiety Disorder Essay
Many people get nervous during uncomfortable events that include social interaction. Nerves can
sometimes trigger anxiety during classroom interactions, job interviews, or other social events. It
is almost normal to stand in front of a crowd and feel like you re being judged constantly and
tremble. There is a major difference between nerves and an anxietydisorder. When someone
sufferers with social anxiety, they normally avoid situations that allow them to feel judged by
others. I believe that social phobia can be resolved in some individuals but, not for everyone. The
fearof embarrassment or judgment among a crowd is so overwhelming that people with this
disorder try their best to avoid the situation. For people with this disorder, extreme measures to
avoid these uncomfortable situations seem more fortunate than facing the fear itself. According to
The Nemours Foundation, we can assume that what causes social phobia is partly due to our
genetic makeup along with other aspects.
Social phobia disorder is the least known of all anxiety disorders. Social phobia disorder, also
called social anxiety disorder, is known to appear in people who fear observation in public
situations (HealthGuide.org). People with this disorder fear other s judgment of their own actions
during social occasions. People with this disorder tend to appear self conscious in uncomfortable
situations and show familiar symptoms of anxiety. According to Amanda MacMillan s article, some
symptoms of anxiety

The Traditional Parental Figure In The Power Of One By...
Everyone has, whether it s a parent, grandparent, or older sibling, a person in their life who
influenced them to the point of changing. In The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, Peekay
lacks the traditional parental figure that most people have, and instead crosses paths with many
different influential people over the course of the book. This put Peekay at an advantage
because he was able to see the world through different perspectives, the perspectives of those who
mentored him. He learned from people of all walks of life, which led to him being unbiased and
open minded. Peekay also was at an advantage because he had to learn to think for himself. His
mentors helped him with this, but the lack of a true parentforced him to learn this early on and
master it by time he was older. Finally, each of Peekay s mentors had something different to offer,
a different key piece of advice, that gave him a set of morals to live by. Thus, his lack of a
traditional parental figure facilitated his maturity and helped him to obtain the power of one. Peekay
was mentored by people from all different walks of life, which resulted in him being a very
unprejudiced and unbiased character, even at a young age. Peekay was mentored by a white
librarian, a mixed prisoner, a middle aged professional boxer, and an old german professor. None
of these people had anything in common except for their love and concern for Peekay. Peekay saw
each of them for their hearts and character, not their race.

Hybridity in Ezekiel Mphahlele s Down Second Avenue
The criticism that Mphahlele s awareness of his being a hybrid person imparts an inability to his
being able to write his story himself is a criticism contrived out of literal derivations of the Greek
components of the word autobiography . The textual landscape of Down Second Avenue includes
many varied and detailed arenas, the rural setting and its many dimensions, the city and its many
dimensions. In the sense that autobiography is part of the genre of biography in the postclassical
European tradition, that being the life accounts of saints and princes, the criticism is perhaps true to
some extent. However, in the aspect of the autobiography being a search for identity and ... Show

Mphahlele relates his well justified fear of the Gaza church, where in one instance the priest tries
to saw off an invalid child s legs after a failed prayer healing attempt. He constantly juxtaposes the
positions of the various churches on issues such as the government s education policy. He
compares those aspects of each he reveres as well as those he disparages. The church is a universal
phenomenon in the psyche and day to day experience of the writer throughout his childhood and
early adulthood. He sees how the various churches are both a help and hindrance
. His church based education of early and late childhood and his position of employment as teacher
are accrued through church institutions. However, he loathes the church for the disparateness of
people around him including his grandmother: The teaching that broke down a good deal of the
individualism of the eastern Transvaal Africans. In this aspect Mphahlele reveals clearly both the
hybridity as well as the symmetry between the various churches in his experience.
An important dichotomy is Mphahlele s determined vocation as academic and teacher and his
employment as messenger boy, journalist. He is fired as messenger boy under the familiar South
African axiom, being cheeky. He relates how possessing an academic qualification is in fact a
hindrance to obtaining basic employment. His

that s why the tazo tea is not the best option because it doesn t help you. Now for the unhealthy

Final Analysis: The fact that the business management s are in opposition to unionization for a long
time is measured as a disincentive to the expansion of private sector unions. Normally, the
challenges of impeding unions of starting organizing, consist of carrots and sticks accessible to
employees of the company. Sticks on hand of the management to impede possible unionization

potential union influential employees, lay of the union leaders, and failing to bargain honestly over

Consumer Behavior Handbook
Consumer Behavior Booking.com Understanding and acting upon consumer behavior is at the core
of becoming a successful retailer. Today s business environment is packed with competing firms, all
seeking to convenience customers to choose them over their competitors. Many industries, such as
the soda, cell phone, and washing detergent industry are dominated by a just a few or a sole firm.
Therefore, more than ever it is difficult to intervene in the habitual consumption of most consumers.
A consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by any existing or new firm that is
trying to become competitive in today s business environment. A customer will have both utilitarian
and hedonic needs. Often companies will attempt to merge these two types of needs to create an all
encompassing experience. For example, the Wegmans store experience doesn t only satisfy the
utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides stimulation (an aspect of satisfying
hedonic needs) through visuals and well organized displays. Paying attention to such details and so
creating a multi dimensional experience creates a competitive advantage. Perhaps the most radical
change in consumer behavior happened when the new era of internet began and the way customer s
search for information and evaluate alternatives changed almost instantly. Today customers face the
challenge of being overwhelmed by information rather than not being able to access it. The internet
has also revolutionized

contagious as long as there is fluid weeping from them. No longer contagious when they have

Sid s Silent Whisperings
There were moments where I would talk normally and gaze at the opals in my hands. Often, a
smile would appear over the damn dirt stains of my face. But at times, a rush of water would
overwhelm my eyes and I would let them flow continuously until I became bloody unconscious.
It was a dark foggy day when I came upon these bright green and blue opals, I mutter as I began
reminiscing about the last thirty years. I stumbled upon the strangest opals that appeared to
glow, only realizing that later, it was no opals, cause no damn opals like that had stared at me
before. As the fog started to clear up, the appearance of a little girl my age stepped towards. Hey,
you! I shouted, which didn t seem to be loud enough to be heard, but still, she stumbled to make
her way towards me. I notice how bruised and lost she must have been and with her opal eyes,
she can see that I was too. We walked through the black darkness of Lightning Ridge for what felt
like a bloody eternity, where every second felt like a minute and every minute felt like a damn
hour. The thought of having no place to go made the massive walk silent and still. There were
times when she gaze my way and mutter a question now and then. I would tell her about my life,
wandering to places trying to escape the abusement at home. That why you bruised up? She asked
as her opal eyes beamed at me. Yes, my dad would be damn glad I left, but he might miss beating

Sweetwater Sound Is A Large Music Providing Business
Overview Sweetwater Sound is a large music providing business that caters to musicians on all
levels. They are located on Highway 30 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, sitting on forty acres of land (http:/
/www.sweetwater.com/feature/expansion/leed.php, 2015). They offer products and services such
as guitars, drums, pianos, music lessons, recording studios, lighting services, and DJ services. With
only having one retail store located in Indiana, a large majority of their salesare accumulated from
their online website and their monthly catalog. Sweetwater Sound, Inc. exemplifies what it takes
to be a successful business and how excellent customer service is the key to keeping customer s
happy. The founder of Sweetwater Sound is Chuck Surack in 1979. He was an avid lover of
music and was in bands, himself. He began recording bands in the back of his VW bus. He then
started to record bands in local clubs and edit them when he returned home. Being in the recording
and music industry means there is a need for instruments, gear, and location. According to Surack,
there were no audio and music dealers around that were trustworthy, this is where his niche first
became. He began creating sounds for a major keyboard company and sold the sounds to the biggest
industry names. The big industry music companies began trusting Surack, which is where the retail
division was then born. (http://www.sweetwater.com/about/the sweetwater difference/, 2015)

Popsticle Sticks
Our boat is in a square shape so that the pennies can equally balance in each corner and the center.
As seen on page 14 the material that makes up the boat are popsticle sticks because they seem to be
stronger. If they re stronger they will be able to hold more pennies. The popsticles have a length of
11 cm, we decided to have this size because we couldn t add another roll of popsticle sticks since
we were going to exceed our budget which was $1, 500.00 (page 12). If we include the propeller,
the length of the boat would be 19 cm (page 9), due to the paper clip and wooden stick being added
between the straw as seen on page 18. Me and my partner chose this deisgn because we wanted to
create an innovative propeller, so we used straws, paper clips,

article on Pinterest Expert Author Jon Bohman Too much of our society is separated from
others. We often isolate ourselves from the lives of those around us. With each little bit of
isolation we become a little more dehumanized each day. Instead of walking around to places we
find ourselves using cars to travel, each day removing ourselves more and more from greeting
and contacting new people. We have furthered this isolation through working in cubicles, and
automation through computers and factories. Tv creates another scenario where we watch fake
realities instead of being around other people. Even in a movie theatre we are isolated because
we stare at the big screen instead of holding a true conversation with someone else. I have nothing
against these inventions, the trouble is that they can lead one to focus more on themselves and
less on their fellow man. Selfishness creeps in and pushes aside the desire to give to others.
Instead of improving and uplifting humanity we are working backwards. Now, not everyone is this
way, however if we aren t mindful of our own intentions and actions you may

Analysis of Marketing Effectiveness
Marketing Effectiveness Analysis Retail and Non Profit Sectors Marketing effectiveness is defined
as the ability of an organization to reach its marketing objectives while taking into account the
organization s resource constraints. A website s marketing effectiveness can be determined by a
number of different factors including value proposition, segmentation and positioning strategies, on
site personalization elements, the site s ability to drive traffic, user engagement, reassurance
elements, integration of services, and the fit of informational content with the goals of the site. In
this paper, both the retail apparel and non profit sectors are analyzed to determine which factors are
most critical in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A second critical factor is the business s value proposition (i.e., how a business presents benefits
to the customers). Without a unique value proposition, it would be difficult to distinguish the
benefits of choosing one site over another when shopping for retail outdoor apparel. Patagonia
focuses on high performance, environmentally friendly, outdoor apparel for a true adventurist.
They advertise the environmental footprint of their products and highlight the key performance
aspects of their clothing items. The North Face s value proposition focuses on the whole family
by attempting to create a sense of community around their high performance apparel while still
presenting the concept that even the weekend camper receives a lot of value from their clothing.
Lastly, prAna caters to the calm adventurer, focusing on high quality, yet comfortable apparel
designed specifically to be durable and stretchy for their yoga and rock climbing markets. Finally,
a very important element in retail sites, particularly in an industry as competitive as retail apparel,
is the ability to convert visitors into sales. One of the factors that are critical to conversion is the
presence of reassurance elements on the site. Patagonia, The North Face, and prAna all have
clearly visible privacy policies and third party secure checkout logos on the site in order to help
reassure customers that their

Heeding Literary Omens In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men

The Importance of Heeding Literary Omens: Of Mice and Men The novel, Of Mice and Men, by
John Steinbeck, depicts the unfortunate tale of two men traveling in search of labor. Lennie Small,
and George Milton, born and raised in Auburn, settle in Salinas valley making their living as ranch
hands. Conflict arises as Lennie struggles to heed George s words and eventually Lennie suffers his
downfall at the hand of his best friend. John Steinbeck used foreshadowing in, Of Mice and Men, to
express and reveal the sentiments behind characters actions and personalities throughout the
novel, demonstrating the importance of foreshadowing to deepen the understanding of major
events in a novel. The author utilizes the setting of the book to foreshadow the differences in
Lennie and George s characters. Before they are introduced, Steinbeck describes the diverse
region of mountains and streams close to George and Lennie s destination. The area is separated
by a river with one side harboring, golden foothill slopes [which] curve up to the strong and
rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees willows fresh and
green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter s flooding,
(Steinbeck 1). Steinbeck uses the contrast in the opposite sides of the river to foreshadow the
variation in the mental and physical aspects of his two main

Heart Rate And Its Effect On The Human Body
Heart Rate as it Relates to Age and Sex
Problem:
The heart is the most important muscle in the human body. It is located in the circulatory system
and it pumps blood along with other nutrients all through the body, which in turn keeps us alive.
But, what is actually happening when it beats? Simultaneously, the heart is receiving deoxygenated
blood and returning oxygenated blood to the body. It is made up of four chambers called the left
and right atria, located on top, and the left and right ventricles, located on the bottom. The right
atrium fills with blood from the veins and then contracts to send the blood to the right ventricle,
which then sends oxygen rich blood to the lungs through arteries. At the same time, the left atrium
fills with blood from the veins and then contracts sending blood to the left ventricle, which then
sends blood to the rest of the body through arteries (Silverthorn). A pulse happens every time the
heart contracts. Pulse in counted by the number of times an artery expands and contracts as a
result of the heart beating. It is measured in number of beats per minute and is commonly written
as bpm. There are seven arteries in the body used to measure pulse, here are a few: the radial
artery, located on the thumb side of the wrist; the brachial artery, located on the inside of the arm
at the elbow; and the carotid artery, located on the side of the neck (Silverthorn). The purpose of
this experiment is to determine whether age and/or gender have any

Family And Military Relationships In The Military Family
Military children face more obstacles than other similarly aged children. These children are often
relocated frequently, have disruptions to their family systems, have increased fear of family
member s safety, and higher levels of stress amongst family members also experiencing military
life (Riggs Riggs, 2011). Protective factors that increase resilient adaptation include supportive
family or social networks and responsive parents (Riggs Riggs, 2011). Riggs and Riggs (2011)
conceptualized an individual s resilience in relation to the bonds that exist within the family. The
underlying internal and external processes behind resilience are affected by attachment
relationships during an individual s life (Riggs Riggs, 2011). In family systems theory, individuals
and their relationships develop within the family attachment network (Riggs Riggs, 2011). Family
processes mediate how a family and the individuals within the family handle stressful events (Riggs
Riggs, 2011). Family systems theory and attachment theoryhave some corresponding overlap
(Riggs Riggs, 2011). Riggs and Riggs (2011) conceptualized how military families adapt and adjust
to stress using a family attachment network model. This model includes several relationships that
exist at several system levels, with every level having distinct characteristics that only exist for that
level but are also intertwined with levels throughout the bigger system (Riggs Riggs, 2011).
Attachment relationships are

Speech On Mistakes
A famous saying by Al Franken goes like Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your
mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless its
a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from. I think mistakes are necessary. It shapes you
to become a better, wiser and a stronger person who is prepared to face further challenges as well.
I personally believe that learning things the harder way always has more impact. It no longer is
just an incident but becomes a lesson for life, something that you try not to repeat. When we fear
of making mistakes, we can often see some amount of hesitation in our work. This prevents us
from developing newer and more innovative way of doing any particular job.
When we first started walking, we would stumble and fall down within few steps, until we
learned how to walk perfectly. Mistakes are like these falls, without which we would never excel
at anything. But one thing we should always keep in mind is we should never let these mistakes
stop us from continuing the work. Mistakes are lessons for us, which help us grow and reach newer
heights. Studies have shown that a person who has committed a mistake is always more determined
and focused than a person who hasn t. Thomas Edison came up light bulb after ... Show more

What might me a mistake to someone might be right for another person. But, mistakes do help a
person distinguish between right and wrong. A mistake informs a person of what is accepted by
the society. Mistakes are said to be the best teacher. When a person goes wrong while doing
something, it stays in his mind forever. He doesn t easily forget it and avoids repeating such
mistakes. Mistakes are also indicators of risk involved. They inform us about what can possibly
go wrong if a certain plan is carried out. They are similar to test points which check whether a

A Living Horror Story Of The Holocaust
It was 1942 in Frankfurt, Germany and you could almost make out the smell of the cold winter
air. World War II was uprising and the Nazis were scattered all over Germany, they were taking
hundreds of thousands of Jews each day. They were being taken to camps that no one ever
returned from. The only people who did end up surviving, were those who escaped, and the
stories that were being told by the escapers were a living horror story. In a small house, which
was a faded blue color with missing roof pieces and slightly cracked windows, was a Jewish
family of six with only two bedrooms to share and a living room that could barely fit three people.
The parents, Claudia and Bruno, had both lost their job. They barely had enough food for two meals

forward to like school, sports or even playing outside with their friends they hadn t been outside
since their parents left, except for Karla all there was to look forward to was eating once a day.
No one knew what day it was or what time it was but it was probably in late January, they had
missed Hanukkah. It was then about 10:00 pm and all the kids were sleeping besides for Klara,
she was looking around in the dark, small place in the basement, she was wondering if she and
the kids would make it through World War II, if they did where they would go (because for all
they knew Claudia could have been dead) and how would they live. A pounding sound on the
floor above startled Karla and she lost her train of thought. Her heart pounded harder as the
pounding got closer and closer to the basement, then her life started to fall apart after one single
second. One of the officers lifted up the top of the emergency room door and there he was, a tall
man with perfectly jelled brown hair and dirt ugly brown eyes that matched the ugly off green
uniform they wore. Karla sat up and stared right up at him as if she had never seen anyone like
that before, he stared right back at her. Get up and get out of there this instant! demanded the
officer. Karla obeyed the

Civil Engineering And American Engineering
Civil Engineering
Not a lot of people know about civil engineering, civil engineering is the building of bridges,
roadways, and buildings; but civil engineering is so much more than that. According to Columbia
University which is located in New York, civil engineering is arguably the oldest engineering
discipline, the old civil engineering discipline or sanitary engineering has evolved into the modern
environmental engineering of such significance that most academic departments have changed
their names to civil and environmental engineering. Civil engineering has been around since people
started building major public works, known a mother engineering. The first private college to tech
civil engineering was Norwich University. Civil engineers do a lot more than design and build
buildings; bridges. They can also be found in the aerospace industry designing jetliners and space
stations, the automotive industry, power stations or where ever constructed factories or industries
are located. civil engineering focuses on the study of structural systems, the core courses in a civil
engineering curriculum reflect this. Most civil engineers start their learning with basic physics and
calculus courses. Later courses can include geology, soil mechanics, and design of steel structures.
A civil engineering curriculum is usually rounded out with advanced classes that match the student
s desired specialty, which may include development of concrete structures, and highway design,

  • 2. Revenge Essay When I was younger I had the desire to win,... Revenge Essay When I was younger I had the desire to win, I couldn t stand losing; it was the worst feeling a young, immature 11 yr old could ever feel. So when St Mary s Primary School won the Armando cup my friends and I were going through a period of torment. The only way to resolve this was by getting revenge on St Mary s. Robert Owen Memorial Primary School versus St Mary s Primary School was the clash that had earned a spot in the Armando cup final. Everybody in Lanark knew that this was the biggest rivalry in the district. My school, Robert Owen Memorial Primary, was the best team in the district; we were always winning something. As 11 yr olds do we got ahead of ourselves and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of extra time it was 3 3 I had scored our 3rd which lifted my confidence a lot. So it then went to a penalty shoot out. On penalties it was 4 3 I scored mine to make it 4 4 .St Mary s scored their 5th it was all down to Fraser McNeil if he missed it was all over for Robert Owen Memorial Primary School! Fraser steps up takes a short run up (at this point i m feeling really nervous I was nearly praying for it to go in), and hits the post! I felt as if this was an act of injustice. We had just lost the cup final to St Mary s. I felt like this as I m the worst loser on the planet. But wait until you hear what we did to them ;). My friends and I thought it would be funny to play a practical joke on St Mary s so we then decided that we needed to plan our act of revenge. That night we went to our den. Our den was a place we hung out when we needed to cool own but it was also the place where we planned our revenge. Our first idea was that when St Mary s paraded their trophy on Lannimer s day we would burst their tyres on the St Mary s float by shooting them with airguns. Then we thought: no, too malicious. I thought that this would be one of our great ideas we will never carry out I thought we would never get our revenge. But one of my more subtle friends called Ryan came up with the idea ... • 3. The Federalist Papers Introduction The Federalist Papers present a series of essays written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. This volume of eighty five essays, written between October 1787 and May 1788, is perhaps the most famous, and at the same time the most important newspaper column ever published. These essays are considered to be among the most important documents of the Founding period, together with the Constitution and Civil Rights Act. In these essays the authors provided facts and justification for the Constitution, with also raising and discussing some of the most important political issues of the time. The sole purpose for writing the essays was to convince people of the State of New York to ratify the U.S. Constitution. People of New York and its political leaders were strongly against the Constitution and they firmly opposed new government. The main reason for that is the fact that the State of New York gain independence under the Articles of Confederation and was becoming rich trough the trade. The citizens of this state believed that they have no interest in ratifying the Constitution and joining the Union. The writers of The Federalist Papers were very concerned that because of New York s reluctance and decided to take the matter into their hands and came all the efforts in order to change their minds. They were very well aware of the relationship between human nature and popular government. Hamilton, Madison and Jay were apprehensive of the ethics of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Impact Of Space On The Space Industry Space Industry is a broad term. It includes a huge variety of different sectors and industries. It is not easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion. The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we can observe in Figure 1 in the last 40 years space sector revenue s has grown significantly faster than the global GDP. Moreover, the development of many modern widespread technologies have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and commercial. The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the only one specifically designed to be profitable. As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper, but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in isolation. SPACE INDUSTRY S VALUE CHAIN When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public funded projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), the Voyager program, which is now exploring the boundaries of our solar system, or the Mars Rover, which is studying Mars surface. This is understandable, as such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It started in the 1930s with a company that has been there since the 1907, the Chisso Corporation started to make acetaldehyde, which is used in some plastics. Dr. Kaneki and Dr. Hosokawa examined the two sisters, and noticed their symptoms was the same as many others. They immediately notified Minamata public health center, and they sent their director Dr. Ito to interview the two mothers. Alien Smith was an investigative reporter, and interviewed the neighbors of these two little girls, and found out that they were regarded as highly intellect before the disease. Alien Smith also noticed that animals around the area, were acting very peculiar. They had the same symptoms as the two children, and some of them had jump right into the bay. Dr. Hajime Hosokawa from the Chisso hospital started to investigate the disease. He ran some test to find out if it was contagious or not, and where the main source was. He concluded that the source was the waste coming out of Chisso dumping sight, but he needed to test his theory. He gave the waste to numerous cats, and depending on the amount of waste, the cats symptoms escaladed and the final result was death. He concluded that ill patients and animals were eating the same fish from the bay that Chisso was dumping in. Unfortunately, Dr Hosokawa results were never made public until years after the incident. Alien Smith and other investigators accused Chisso Corporation of being the cause, so they stopped the dumping into the bay and moved it into the Minamata river delta instead. Chisso ... • 6. The Book Tale Of Despereaux I chose the book Tale of Despereaux. The reason why is quite simple. I love this book and I always have. This book, I feel like, has always understood, that is if books could understand, and I have always had a deep connection with it and its characters. I have read this book several hundred times and it will never ever get old to me. I could read it when I m fifty. This was my favorite book back in the day, and now because of this assignment, I get to read it once more! I will never and can never forget this book. Book one, Coda. This book is split up into four books, and here we will start off with the reading of the first five chapters. Despereaux was the only surviving mouse out of all that were born. He had great big ear for his size, and his eyes were open at birth. He got his name Despereaux for all of the sadness and despair were they live. His parents, along with everyone else in the mouse community did not think he would live, but he did. His brothers and sisters picked on him quite often for his size and for all of his looks. He didn t mind, he never even let it bother him when his mother or father called him a disappointment for his looks or his inability or unwillingness to act like a mouse. His brother, Furlough, took him on a tour of the castle to learn how to be a mouse, but his attempts to teach Despereaux went in one ear and out the other. His sister even tried taking him to the library to learn how to eat paper. But when Despereaux saw the paper he saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Did Child Labor Occur During The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution is known as a time of progression and development in European nations and America. The new movement allowed the mass production of items with new inventions and factories. However, the Industrial Revolution also brought many negatives to society and its people. The need for more work and the increase in production meant that more workers were needed, and less money was being paid to workers. As a result, child labor was prominent, and greatly affected millions of children. Also, the factoryand workplace conditions were poor and not suitable for any person, let alone a child. There were several possible solutions to these problems that could have been implemented at the time. Because there was such a need to work in order for families to survive, child labor was on the rise during the Industrial Revolution. This corrupt situation is best described by Edward Potter, a coal viewer and manager of a collier. He notices that because so many families were poor, parents were begging for their eight year old children to start working. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, the government did put in place different laws that prevented Child Labor, but it was years later. The Factory Act of 1833 was passed to limit the number of hours a child could work, but it was nowhere near ending the abuses that occurred in the factories. The act only limited the amount of hours a child could work, and nine year olds were still allowed to work. For tens of years, kids still had to work tiresome shifts for little pay. At the time, a communist revolution as suggested by Karl Marx would have helped this problem. This is because under Communism, every has economic equality and there are no social classes, which mean children would no longer have to work because they would be provided on the necessities in life by the ... • 8. Reflection On My Second Lesson My second lesson was centered around letter recognition and identification. I had a big sensory bin filled with somewhat wet sand. In the bin, there were real seashells that the children had to dig up, brush the sand off, identify the letter on it, and match it to the corresponding letter on the paper. When it was time to talk about my center station, all of the children were very engaged. In my opinion, it was probably due to the fact that it was my lessonor that there was a big bin of sand in their classroom. Regardless, I tried my best to build off of their natural curiosity. When they arrived at my station, I build engagement and interest by explaining that I hid a bunch a shells that had a hidden letter on it. The children were all immediately ready to start digging through to find all the letters. Then, I modeled for them how to use the materials and what to do with the shells. They all started asking me if they could come to my center first. Based off of my last lesson, I was prepared to have little to no time for an introduction as my cooperating teacher typically just briefly shows what is at each center. Fortunately, I had enough time to do almost everything in my lesson plan. The only thing I had to cut from my lesson plan was singing the alphabetsong. I had to cut this because I had a very limited amount of time and wanted to make sure the children stayed engaged and interested. Since they are three and four years old, I have learned that their attention span is very short; consequently, I think I adapted well. Although not required, all 10 children came to my center at least once. About 5 children came back twice and one childrefused to leave my center until he found all the letters of the alphabet (pictured below is the final product created by the little boy when he found all the letters). Overall, I would say that the children were very engaged with my lesson and I effectively built up anticipation and interest. When I look back at my activity as a whole, I would consider it to be a success. My cooperating teachers loved it, the director liked it, and the children liked it. I left field that day feeling extremely happy and satisfied. During the children s lunch discussion time, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Colonialism In Australia Introduction Colonialism is defined as the practice of domination, which involves control of one person to another (Plato.stanford.edu, 2018). This usually involves the settlement of citizens from colonial power in the colony. Indigenous Australians have been marginalised by settler colonial Australians, results of this has impacted the way Indigenous Australians are viewed and treated in contemporary society. Indigenous people have struggled to regain their rights such as reclaiming their identities that were misappropriate by the presence of colonials (Maddison, 2013). Structural violence of settler colonialism continues to dominate the Indigenous population in contemporary Australia. In many ways settler colonials continue to dominate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Terra Nullius is an example of how settler colonialism tried to take ownership of Australian land. Terra Nullius is a Latin word that means land belonging to no one (Craven and Parbury, 1999). Captain James Cook claimed Australia and declared that Australia seems to have no fixed habitation but instead habitants of the land, move around from place to place like wild beasts in search of food (Craven and Parbury, 1999). The British settlement and takeover of Australia affected, attitudes and treatment of Indigenous. Terra Nullius denied the humanity and existence of Indigenous Australians and can be considered the cause of most racism towards Indigenous Australia. This has led to the White Australia Act, which depended on the non existence of Indigenous and also the racialisation of Indigenous Australians. The Indigenous population in Australia became subject to racialised identity categories based on their degrees of blood, labelling and classifying people as full blood, half cast (Maddison, 2013). This policy led to removing Indigenous children from their families and communities. This policy was enforced with the intention to erase the Indigenous population, by blending them into invisibility within the colonial population (Maddison, 2013). However, in 2008, the federal parliament gave an apology to the stolen generation (The Conversation, 2018). This comes after many years of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Response To The Jesus I Never Knew By Philip Yancey Response to The Jesus I Never Knew the Jesus I Never Knew, by Philip Yancey, was a lot more interesting than I was expecting. When I first read the plot, or summary, on the back of the book itself, I begin to wonder what this book what relate to me in what way. As I continued to dig deeper in the marvelous writingof Philip Yancey, I instantly began to relate to his occurrences, and remembering of Jesusas a young child. Just as I begin to read the first chapter, I noticed Yancey referred to Jesus as the nurturer in his Christian walk. But his appearance is not what made people want to follow Him, and listen to what Jesus had to say, because what he said, need to be heard by the people on this earth. Yancey brings Sermon on the Mount, in to perspective and breaks down what we think is something to look up to in our lives, but then talks as if, this day in time, the things we should be doing as Christians is somehow hard to do. To summarize, how to be a Christian. How do we compare our lives to the high expectations. When sometimes we cannot go a day without sin. I don t think Yancey was bashing the sermon itself, but explaining that sometimes being a Christian is hard, and our expectations are high. But if we keep our eyes on Jesus in everything we do in life, we will be the best we can be. Something we all love about Jesus was his ability to preform miracles on human beings just like us. Yancey tries to explain why Jesus was on this earth and did the things He did while he was here. Yancey begins to describe some of the miracles Jesus did like water to wine for example. Then Yancey questions why some of these miracles were preformed and why some were not. This was hard for me to understand because I have never thought about this before. Why did some people receive the blessing of healing and others did not? Honestly, I begin to come up with my own thoughts and begin to think I cannot compare people that received and people who did not. When we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction: Roughly 68 percent of all American households play computer or video games. Of this, 25 percent are under the age of 18. While the average age of a typical video game player is 35, it does show a large number of individuals are playing video games before college and while they are still at home, living with their parents and attending grade school. Media misrepresents video games as a violent distraction for its audiences. Stereotypes of games like Grand Theft Auto or Mortal Kombat have dramatically changed the video game world. When playing violent video games most players can distinguish the difference between the game and reality, but for others their game and realities are the same. Anne Sexton s Retelling of Cinderella Essay Anne Sexton s Retelling of Cinderella Michelangelo, perhaps the most gifted sculptor and painter of all times, once said that geniuses stand on the shoulders of other geniuses. As Michelangelo built upon the brilliance of his predecessors, Anne Sexton does the same with her poem Cinderella . Fairy tales originated as oral traditions and were passed along and sculpted by thousands of story tellers. Each raconteur changes elements in the story to fit their individual needs. A few years into union, Anne had two children, Linda and Joy, and was hospitalized for postpartum depression after the birth of both children (McCartan 2). Her depression was severe, and Sexton was suicidal for most of her adult life. On October 4, 1974, shortly after the release of Transformations, Anne could no longer stand the pressures of her existence and committed suicide (McCartan 35). This biographical information is essential to understanding Sexton s influences in writing Cinderella because the poem was written out of personal turmoil. The majority of Sexton s poetry is confessional style, but through her interpretation of Cinderella , Sexton gives herself a more discrete outlet for her passions (Ostriker 255). Her biographer Diane Middlebrook notes that this poem was a way to place her struggles В‘in legend rather than personal history (37). There are two notable examples of this in Cinderella. First, the father and step mother are reminiscent of Sexton s own parents. In the poem the father is distant and the step mother is the cause of all of Cinderella s hardships. Anne s mother and father both struggled with alcoholism, a struggle which, according to her biographers, influenced Sexton s substance abuses later in life. Secondly, Sexton describes the way she sees herself through the stepsisters. She describes them as, pretty enough / but with hearts like blackjacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, in 1936, American writer, teacher and songwriter Abel Meeropol, composed the poem Bitter Fruit. In an atmosphere of violence, he was inspired by a picture taken in Marion, Indiana portraying the lynchings of Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith. These two African Americans were arrested after being suspects in a robbery, murder and rape case. Nowadays Lawrence Bittler s photography has become an iconic image of lynching. • 17. Dao De Jing And Daoist Philosophy Imitating a particular action, thing, or other person first entails perception and observing. Imitation of nature to live in harmony is the basis of Daoist philosophy, which begins with observation. Having ideals and a path stems from understanding how to perceive and achieve the ideal through the path. The process of realization begins with chapters from the Dao De Jing, practicing Aikido with intent, and the connection with our environment. A major part that I observed in the Dao De Jing is the realization that Dao is significant to a harmonious life. Focusing on Dao and the passages of the Dao De Jing tie together what Daoist philosophers believe. All these things combined, brings about the principles of Daoist philosophy. Before parallels can be drawn between ideals and paths in Daoism, Daoist philosophy and Dao must be defined. It is hard to put Daoist Philosophy into a nice, neat sentence because of the complexity and vast amount of information on the subject. For the intent of this paper, Daoist philosophy is defined as a Chinese philosophy that takes a more naturalist approach to religion and way of living. It is the connection between imitating nature and harmony. Dao is defined in Chapter 1 as the constant moving everything that surrounds us. It is not tangible, it is just what it is, and you do not know exactly what this something is. Living in Harmony with everything surrounding oneself requires a realization of what is around and how to properly interact with one s surroundings. One must join an ideal and a path to achieving that ideal. Without a path, can the desired goal have the outcome that is intended? A reading from the Dao De Jing suggest no, that the path and ideal are connected and one. But first, one must learn how to perceive nature. Perceiving nature is necessary to be able to imitate it correctly. Observation of what surrounds us and how we interact with our environment. Chapter 36 of the Dao De Jing talks about the idea of perceiving and understanding one s insight. • 21. Essay on Haydn and Mozart Between the years 1782 and 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote six string quartets which were dedicated to his friend and fellow composer, Joseph Haydn. These quartets, known as the Haydn Quartets, were among Mozart s first six masterpieces in the medium (Keller, 64). In composing these works, Mozart was inspired by Haydn s recently published Opus 33, which is also a set of six string quartets. When Haydn wrote his Opus 33 in 1781, it was the first time he had written for the string quartetin a period of ten years. With the six pieces of Opus 33, Haydn established a style of chamber musicthat he described as being in an entirely new, very special manner (Pauly, 45). The royalty of the time was especially interested in having small instrumental groups play at their social gatherings and official events. The music of these small groups was known as chamber music, because it was usually meant to be performed in a royal patron s private chambers (Rosenstiel, 547). In order to suit the tastes of the aristocracy, this type of music was generally light and elegant. Both Mozart and Haydn were masters of the classical style. Haydn, born 24 years before Mozart, was an innovator in the development of the style. Mozart followed Haydn s lead and went even further by becoming a true master of classical forms. Mozart s works also show a strong sense of emotion, which adds to their power. Haydn wrote more than 80 string quartets during his long career. By the early 1770s, the four movement format was standardized in Haydn s quartets (548). After an exciting first movement in sonata allegro form, Haydn often used a minuet for the second movement. The third movement was usually a slow piece and the fourth movement was usually another up tempo form like the first movement. This order of movements differed from the traditional order, in which the second movement was a slow piece and the third movement was a minuet. By changing the order, Haydn expressed an element of the classical style, because the four movements are balanced in terms of their expressive weight (Rosen, 280). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report has been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s room. In addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s information. These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient information, nor involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was not shared with the patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and development of Patient Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report away from the patient. Tan (2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurseto nurse communication, but it must involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the patient into the end of shift report is essential for providing patient centered care and patient satisfaction. Habitats and the species that rely on them are disappearing, in what I view as a snowball effect of biodiversity loss. A reduction in a species habitat will have dire consequences for them as well as other species that co exist with them, over time every aspect of that environment is affected. In the Artic, sea ice is melting at a faster then it has in centuries. According to an article published by Aarhus University Climate change is by far the worst threat to Arcticbiodiversity. Temperatures are expected to increase more in the Arctic compared to the global average, resulting in severe disruptions to Arctic biodiversity some of which are already visible (Aarhus University, 2013). Among the many species being affected, the polar bearpopulation has already experienced serious decline because of its reliance on sea ice. Polar bears rely on the sea ice to hunt, breed, and, in some cases, den. Changes in their population and distribution are starting to become noticeable within the Arctic ecosystem. There are social, environmental and economic effects associated with the negative effects climate change has on the polar bearpopulation. Everyone has, whether it s a parent, grandparent, or older sibling, a person in their life who influenced them to the point of changing. In The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, Peekay lacks the traditional parental figure that most people have, and instead crosses paths with many different influential people over the course of the book. This put Peekay at an advantage because he was able to see the world through different perspectives, the perspectives of those who mentored him. He learned from people of all walks of life, which led to him being unbiased and open minded. Peekay also was at an advantage because he had to learn to think for himself. His mentors helped him with this, but the lack of a true parentforced him to learn this early on and master it by time he was older. Finally, each of Peekay s mentors had something different to offer, a different key piece of advice, that gave him a set of morals to live by. Thus, his lack of a traditional parental figure facilitated his maturity and helped him to obtain the power of one. Peekay was mentored by people from all different walks of life, which resulted in him being a very unprejudiced and unbiased character, even at a young age. Hybridity in Ezekiel Mphahlele s Down Second Avenue Hybridity in Ezekiel Mphahlele s Down Second Avenue The criticism that Mphahlele s awareness of his being a hybrid person imparts an inability to his being able to write his story himself is a criticism contrived out of literal derivations of the Greek components of the word autobiography . The textual landscape of Down Second Avenue includes many varied and detailed arenas, the rural setting and its many dimensions, the city and its many dimensions. Mphahlele relates his well justified fear of the Gaza church, where in one instance the priest tries to saw off an invalid child s legs after a failed prayer healing attempt. He constantly juxtaposes the positions of the various churches on issues such as the government s education policy. He compares those aspects of each he reveres as well as those he disparages. The church is a universal phenomenon in the psyche and day to day experience of the writer throughout his childhood and early adulthood. He sees how the various churches are both a help and hindrance . His church based education of early and late childhood and his position of employment as teacher are accrued through church institutions. However, he loathes the church for the disparateness of people around him including his grandmother: The teaching that broke down a good deal of the individualism of the eastern Transvaal Africans. In this aspect Mphahlele reveals clearly both the hybridity as well as the symmetry between the various churches in his experience. An important dichotomy is Mphahlele s determined vocation as academic and teacher and his employment as messenger boy, journalist. He is fired as messenger boy under the familiar South African axiom, being cheeky. He relates how possessing an academic qualification is in fact a hindrance to obtaining basic employment. His ... But is zero of everything good, I don t think so, because you need those macronutrients to give energy to your body energy and you re supposed to have big quantities of macronutrients. The macronutrients include: carbohydrates sugar/glucoses, and protein. So that s why the tazo tea is not the best option because it doesn t help you. Now for the unhealthy options; let s take for example the famous vanilla bean Frappuccino with no wiped cream. It has 200 calories, 3.5g of total fat, 39g of total carbohydrates, 36g of sugar, ad 3g of protein. Yet if you want to add sweetened wiped cream that would be another 50 calories, 5g of total fat, 1g of total carbohydrates, 0.3g of protein, and 1g of sugar. Now here s a short list of unhealthy drinks at Starbucks: so in third is the tazo green tea Frappuccino blended; it s so creamy and milky and that s a whole 290 calories for a tall. Today s business environment is packed with competing firms, all seeking to convenience customers to choose them over their competitors. Many industries, such as the soda, cell phone, and washing detergent industry are dominated by a just a few or a sole firm. Therefore, more than ever it is difficult to intervene in the habitual consumption of most consumers. A consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by any existing or new firm that is trying to become competitive in today s business environment. For example, the Wegmans store experience doesn t only satisfy the utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides stimulation (an aspect of satisfying hedonic needs) through visuals and well organized displays. We often isolate ourselves from the lives of those around us. With each little bit of isolation we become a little more dehumanized each day. Instead of walking around to places we find ourselves using cars to travel, each day removing ourselves more and more from greeting and contacting new people. We have furthered this isolation through working in cubicles, and automation through computers and factories. Tv creates another scenario where we watch fake realities instead of being around other people. Even in a movie theatre we are isolated because we stare at the big screen instead of holding a true conversation with someone else. I have nothing against these inventions, the trouble is that they can lead one to focus more on themselves and less on their fellow man. Selfishness creeps in and pushes aside the desire to give to others. Instead of improving and uplifting humanity we are working backwards. Heeding Literary Omens In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men Preciado 1 Lizeth Preciado Deborah Sidler Pre AP English 9: 2A December 1st, 2017 The Importance of Heeding Literary Omens: Of Mice and Men The novel, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, depicts the unfortunate tale of two men traveling in search of labor. Lennie Small, and George Milton, born and raised in Auburn, settle in Salinas valley making their living as ranch hands. Conflict arises as Lennie struggles to heed George s words and eventually Lennie suffers his downfall at the hand of his best friend. John Steinbeck used foreshadowing in, Of Mice and Men, to express and reveal the sentiments behind characters actions and personalities throughout the novel, demonstrating the importance of foreshadowing to deepen the understanding of major events in a novel. The author utilizes the setting of the book to foreshadow the differences in Lennie and George s characters. Before they are introduced, Steinbeck describes the diverse region of mountains and streams close to George and Lennie s destination. The area is separated by a river with one side harboring, golden foothill slopes [which] curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter s flooding, (Steinbeck 1). • 49. Heart Rate And Its Effect On The Human Body Heart Rate as it Relates to Age and Sex Problem: The heart is the most important muscle in the human body. It is located in the circulatory system and it pumps blood along with other nutrients all through the body, which in turn keeps us alive. But, what is actually happening when it beats? Simultaneously, the heart is receiving deoxygenated blood and returning oxygenated blood to the body. It is made up of four chambers called the left and right atria, located on top, and the left and right ventricles, located on the bottom. The right atrium fills with blood from the veins and then contracts to send the blood to the right ventricle, which then sends oxygen rich blood to the lungs through arteries. At the same time, the left atrium fills with blood from the veins and then contracts sending blood to the left ventricle, which then sends blood to the rest of the body through arteries (Silverthorn). A pulse happens every time the heart contracts. Pulse in counted by the number of times an artery expands and contracts as a result of the heart beating. It is measured in number of beats per minute and is commonly written as bpm. There are seven arteries in the body used to measure pulse, here are a few: the radial artery, located on the thumb side of the wrist; the brachial artery, located on the inside of the arm at the elbow; and the carotid artery, located on the side of the neck (Silverthorn). These children are often relocated frequently, have disruptions to their family systems, have increased fear of family member s safety, and higher levels of stress amongst family members also experiencing military life (Riggs Riggs, 2011). Protective factors that increase resilient adaptation include supportive family or social networks and responsive parents (Riggs Riggs, 2011). Riggs and Riggs (2011) conceptualized an individual s resilience in relation to the bonds that exist within the family. The underlying internal and external processes behind resilience are affected by attachment relationships during an individual s life (Riggs Riggs, 2011). In family systems theory, individuals and their relationships develop within the family attachment network (Riggs Riggs, 2011).
