1. Is Shylock A Victim Or A Villain Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of whether Shylock is a victim or a villain is not a task for the
faint-hearted. The complexity lies not only in the intricate character of Shylock, the Jewish
moneylender from William Shakespeare's play "The Merchant of Venice," but also in the
multifaceted themes and emotions that surround his portrayal.
Firstly, one must delve into the depths of Shylock's character, analyzing his motivations, actions,
and the historical context in which he exists. On one hand, Shylock's grievances and
mistreatment at the hands of Antonio and others may evoke sympathy, positioning him as a
victim of societal prejudices. On the other hand, his ruthless pursuit of a pound of Antonio's
flesh in the infamous bond and his unrelenting demand for justice may cast him as a malevolent
figure, a villain whose actions are driven by vengeance.
Moreover, the essay requires an exploration of the broader themes present in the play, such as
justice, mercy, and the consequences of discrimination. It demands a careful examination of the
socio-political landscape of Venice during Shakespeare's time and an understanding of the anti-
Semitic sentiments prevalent in society.
The difficulty intensifies as one must navigate the fine line between presenting a compelling
argument for Shylock's victimhood and acknowledging the moral ambiguity of his character.
Striking a balance between sympathy and condemnation, while providing textual evidence to
support one's claims, requires a nuanced understanding of literature and critical analysis.
In conclusion, composing an essay on whether Shylock is a victim or a villain is akin to
navigating a literary labyrinth. It demands not only a thorough understanding of the character but
also the ability to dissect and interpret the complexities embedded in the narrative. Successfully
unraveling the layers of Shylock's persona and presenting a coherent, well-supported argument
requires a writer's intellectual prowess and a keen awareness of the nuances within the text.

Author: Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca
( The Spread of Christianity was the most significant purpose of Cabeza De Vaca s
account) While many would say Cabeza De Vaca s exploration was built on
struggle, death, and extreme suffering, I would say that Cabeza De Vaca s
exploration although disastrous, was a complete success. The significant purpose was
to gain insight on the different cultures of the Indians that Cabeza De Vaca had
encountered, to find gold and signs of wealth, and also possible agricultural
environments. But the overwhelming purpose that ties all these together is Cabeza
De Vaca s understanding of the possibility for the spread of Christianitythroughout
the American southwest.
One of the biggest obstacle s Cabeza De Vaca had to endure were the many Indian
tribes he encountered. Some were friendly, many were violent, and others where just
curious. It seemed from the very start Cabeza De Vaca was able to experience the
many actions, emotions, and traditions that came with the Indian s, which helped
him accommodate and grow closer to the different Indian tribes. Whether it was him
observing the ignorance of the Avavares Indians in there way of telling time, the
lack in understanding of the seasons, or the immoral practices of the Mariames and
the Yguaces Indians killing young children and slaughtering men and women,
Cabeza De Vaca experienced it all, and his greatest asset was his skills of
3. MS-DRG System Analysis
The MS DRG is a system that consists of numerical group numbers that range from
001 999 that was created and is overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) in 2008 for Medicare inpatient services as well as TRICARE
beneficiaries. Each Medicare and TRICARE patient is assigned 1 MS DRG.
The MS DRG, is then linked to a fixed payment amount based on the average
treatment cost of patients in that group.
The MS DRG system calculates the reimbursement payment based on the DRG that
is assigned to the patient and on the 3 types of diagnosis/subgroups which are 1)
major complication/comorbidity (MCC) 2.) Complication/comorbidity (CC) and 3. )
Non complication/comorbidity (w/o CC/MCC) and the patient s age.
Now, how it is that a patient is assigned an MS DRG could be a little complicated.
First, the patient must be assigned International Classification of Diseases 9 codes
(ICD 9). In order for this step to be completed, the coder must follow a list of
guidelines that determine the ICD 9 codes for the patient. This codes will be assigned
to the patient s principal diagnosis, principal and secondary procedure, comorbidity,
major complication and complications. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like the ICD 9 codes have guidelines, the MS DRG does also. Aside from
applying the ICD 9 code to determine the MS DRG, the total amount of days the
patient had to stay in the hospital, arithmetic mean LOS (total days divided by the
total # of patients), the average resources that were used to treat the patient and the
geographical are of the facilities are taken into account to determine the correct code
which in conclusion determines how much the reimbursement will

Rules of Delegation
In the Texas Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations chapter 224 and 225 explain
what an RN should delegate and what can be delegated in certain situations. There are
five rights of delegation including the right task, right circumstance, right person,
right direction and communication, and right supervision. These five rights must
always be considered before any sort of delegation can occur.
Chapter 224 gives rules on delegating tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP)
in an acute care setting. This involves patients who are unstable and unpredictable.
The RN is responsible for assessing the nursing needs of the patient, creating a plan of
action, implementing the plan, and evaluating the patient s response. The initial
assessment must always occur prior to any delegation. After the assessment is done,
the nurse must consider the five rights of delegation to make sure he/she is

caring for a stable patient, but it is very carefully monitored. An RN must be on call
and available 24 hours every day, teaching about the medication must be provided to
the UAP and patient, written instructions must be left for the UAP, and the RN must

A few years ago I decide to go watch T.V. as I normally do in the morning. That s
when I saw that another set of innocent lives have been taken from not wearing
seatbelts. What really got my attention was those innocent lives were from Union,
Missouri and I knew two out of the five of them, three out of the five died. Their
names were Jim Curran, Isaac Clark, Lucas Shulze, Cole Weddle, and Derek King.
I knew Isaac and Jim; Isaac had his seatbelt on and survived but was in critical
condition but Jim did not make it, he suffered serious injuries in the wreck and did
not have his seatbelt on. This made me realize that it s a problem everywhere with
people not wearing their seatbelts. The world needs to crack down on everyone to

6. The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction
Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the
endocrine system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs
whose dynamic function plays several critical roles in growth and development as
well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in
the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated
functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from
the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The
hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including
gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular
stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback
loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by
altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by
immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male
and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have
severe consequences on reproductive physiology.
GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the
hypothalamus. GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream
to the pituitary gland and activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2
Once these cells are activated, signal transduction

book was entitled Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup. Northup was born a
freeman that was obtained from his father after being freed by the Northup family
due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York, Solomon was
allowed an education that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of
his race. Solomon gained much knowledge of industry and hard work from his

Northup and others were to be shipped to New Orleans. New Orleans had the
biggest slave market in the South. It was a place no slave ever wanted to
encounter. Before arriving in New Orleans, they made frequent stops at other
slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more slaves. Escape always came to mind
while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity was lost. Arriving in
New Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen
similar to that in Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a
presentable manner, washed, shaved and dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves
were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart . Each slave was to
stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly.
Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was
able to exploit such skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox
earlier from another slave, Northup got deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital,
decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the slave pen where he was
sold to Mr. William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to be
discussed are William Ford and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist
preacher and owner of a lumberyard, purchased Northup in the New Orleans. Ford
lived in the Great Pine Woods of Avoyelles Parish by the
8. A Research Study On College Students
On a daily basis you are introduced to new people around you. The connections you
make with the people you meet are relationships. Relationships can vary from
person to person based on the type of connection you have with them. There are the
relationships with family, relationships with friends, and then the relationship with
a significant other. With sufficient amounts of research being done daily on all
aspects of relationships and how they work, there is a significant gap in the study
of college students and how they view the importance of a committed relationship.
With the appearance of this gap, I am doing my research in this field and on
college aged students. The key concept when developing this study is how serious
and committed relationships are built and treated among college students. This
study will examine the way males and females in college perceive the importance
of relationships and how they participate in the different variations and if these
variations change the way students look at relationships. Recent research barely
touched on relationship styles, especially in college age males and females. I would
like to know what males and females in their freshman and senior year in college are
looking for in an intimate type of relationship. The purpose of this study is to identify
how males opinions about serious committed relationships change from their
freshman year in college to their senior year in college and how females opinions
about serious committed

The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda
According to the latest polls, 90% of Americans favor military retaliation for the
September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Taking into consideration that all
aggregate data is used for self serving means, this number is still exceptionally large.
The numbers are manufactured by propaganda vehicles, or rather the mainstream
media. In a sort of Orwellian fashion, the media bombards the audience with images,
voices, and memoirs of death, grief, and pain that pervert their way into public
consciousness, creating a sort of group think. In the essay Propaganda, American

Such is the nature of the democratic beast. This concept of manufactured consent , a
term coined by American journalist Walter Lippman, should come as no surprise
considering that the media is a vehicle and a product of capitalism. The metaphor of
money equals power has a large stake in the operations of the media. The news
stations, newspapers, and radio stations are all controlled by a powerful elite; yet, the
media themselves are huge profit seeking corporations. They are integrated into the
market, and are thus subject to criticism and control by their stockholders. The
stockholders want the bottom line, or in other words, what they want to hear. Money
and power are the means through which the news is filtered, dissent is squelched, and
political agenda is satisfied.
In Noam Chomsky s work Manufacturing Consent, the relationship between
objectivity and the media is explained.
The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissidents that results from
the operation of these filters occurs so naturally that media news people, frequently
operating with complete integrity and goodwill, are able to convince themselves that
they choose and interpret the news objectively and on the basis of professional news
values.
This concept of objectivity is unable to exist in a nation so reliant on systematic bias.
The symbiotic relationship between the media and the powerful elite makes it
difficult for a reporter to cut of ties with those who

Veganism and Vegetarianism
Veganism and vegetarianism are widespread trends that have been gaining attention
rapidly all around the world. For some people, they are only a diet. On the other hand,
for others, they are a lifestyle. Veganism and Vegetarianism are both diverse diets that
can affect the human body and environment in different ways. Veganismis a lifestyle
that excludes any use of animal products, such as meats, dairy, leather, etc. The main
purpose of veganism is to not support animal exploitation, thus not support animal
cruelty. However, many people can also turn to veganism as a diet. Veganism proves

drivers of deforestation is agriculture.
Few vegans believe that everyone should become vegan to help cure the world in
ways where we do not have to promote acts such as deforestation, and do not have to
continue killing animals for our own desires. However, the majority of vegans are
satisfied with their own actions, knowing that they can make a difference on their
own. On the contrary, vegetarianism is a not as strict of a diet as veganism, much
less a lifestyle. Many vegetarians choose this lifestyle because they are attempting to
fix their health, want to take part in saving animals, or simply do not like the taste of
meat. In a way, vegetarianism is a healthier diet than veganism, even though
vegetarians wouldn t be losing pounds quite as fast. Vegetarians are least likely to
become nutrient deficient, which is a problem with veganism. Because veganism is
so strict, it is hard to chose the right substitutes to eat in order to get all the nutrients
you need. On the other hand, vegetarians are

caution ever since he was betrayed by his wife Helen, who acted in a way that defiled
all womankind. Agamemnon did not come to this realization all by himself, however;

Greece. Even before Odysseus speaks with Agamemnon, he exhibits a similar attitude
in his many encounters with women during his long journey home. Every major

Both of these transgressions are against the natural order. Although the Gods in Greek
times were much more human than in other cultures, it was not tolerated for them to
behave with mortals in this way, as explained by Kalypso s arguments with Hermes
about why the two should have to separate (Lefkowitz 23). Odysseus for his part is
not without a lie of his own; although in this particular case it may be that it is
more a self delusion than an outward lie. Odysseus cries every morning on the
shores of the island, longing for home. But he also goes back to bed with Kalypso
every night, showing an apathetic nature that constitutes a rare weakness on the part
of the King. Very seldom is he shown in such an unflattering light. This self
delusion is a part of his need to deceive. A Goddess is not as susceptible to a lie as a
mortal woman, and so Odysseus deceives himself to compensate. Most of his other
confrontations are not as subtle.
His encounter with Kirke, for instance, is a much cleaner deception, on the part of
the adventurer and the Goddess. Kirke lures the men into her cave with promises of
food and treasure, but then transforms them into animals. Odysseus men, famished
from their days at sea, let down their guard and approach the cave. When they are
trapped, Odysseus does not hesitate to come and rescue them. His answer to the
Goddess is another deception, a similar tactic to that of all the various encounters that
he has, both with women

How would the myth and play of Bellerophon and Macbeth ended if the main
characters were not plagued by their own pride? These stories would have ended
blissfully, Bellerophon would have been a glorious hero for ages and Macbeth and

the main characters are blinded by their egotistic decisions leading to their eventual

In ancient Greece tales like Bellerophon taught children and adults alike certain life
lessons, in this tale the author depicts a regular boy who wants a miracle granted
by the gods and it happens. After he tamed Pegasus he was sent on a deadly quest
and defeated the Chimaera easily. He then gets sent on many other quests to prove
himself to his king. When he finally earns his king s trust he does not think that it is
enough so he tries to fly to the top of Mount Olympus where Pegasus heaves him
off. He thought he was the big man on campus and used that mentality to justify
himself becoming a god. His hubris eventually lead to his catastrophic mistake of
thinking he was equal with the gods. This could have been avoided if Bellerophon
was stronger mentally and was respectful enough to recognize that he was not equal
to a God. Unfortunately he let his arrogance define him as a person and through his
wishes.
In the play Macbeth by Shakespeare, Shakespeare brings an old scottish tale to life,
using his excellent writing and thinking, he hides things that analysts are still finding

equivocator, or a person who speaks ambiguously or doesn t tell the whole truth, and
alerting Macbeth to people at his front gate. This theme shows up over and over in

Women were kept in the private spheres, which lacks societal life but that sphere is

suffer impoverished circumstances. Although Arnold s life seems as a ticking time
bomb, he is able to overcome povertywith the help of his friends that are always

with more hope for himself.
Overcoming such a huge obstacle in society is rough and it all started with Arnold

leaving the Rez was one of the hardest things for Arnold to do, it was a huge

Throughout the book Arnold encounters many discouraging situations but remains
positive. In the book, one of the most sad moments is when Christmas comes
around for him and his family. Having been in poverty for many years, his family
can never afford presents so his dad spends whatever money they have on alcohol.
Hey, Dad, I said. Hey, kid, he said. I m sorry about Christmas. It s okay, I said.(Pg.

Later his dad reveals his gift for Arnold. I got you something, he said. What? It s in

little upset with his dad, he appreciates that his dad thought of him. So, even though
it seemed like a regular crappy Christmas, Arnold made the best out of it and didn t

20. The First World War Essay
The First World War was commonly known for its lack of movement for soldiers
on all sides. World War I took place on the Western Front from the autumn of 1914
to the spring of 1918. During the First Battle of the Marne, German advances were
pushed back by the Allied forces. To stop themselves from loosing land they dug in
and made protective trenches. The Allied forces were unable to break through the
German line as a result did the same and made trenches of their own. Death was an
event that many soldiers had met on the front lines daily. Due to attacks launched by
air raids with large shell bursts numerous men were buried in the process of
defending themselves. An often occurrence for many soldiers is being hit with a

Trench Foot. It was a fungi infection in the feet area caused by cold, wet and
unsanitary trench conditions. Amputation was necessary when the infection get

prepared themselves for attacks that were carried out anyways. In the early hours
machine gun fires were heard from both sides along with shelling and small arms

I would like to preface this report by mentioning that this interview went nothing
like I expected. At 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 21st I walked into the office of Brad
Hults, the owner and founder of Jefferson Midstate Auto Auction (JMAA). Every
Tuesday used car dealers from all over the Midwest come to JMAA looking to buy
and sell used cars. My dad, an auto dealer himself, currently works there on sale

am lucky enough to have an inside scoop on the business I actually worked there on

Because he (supposedly) has said energy, anyone who walks into his office, works
for him, enters his car auction, or just interacts with his business in any way also
gains part of that energy, and thus the universe starts to give them what they want as

working here a year and a half ago. [I ve] become more self aware and those
coincidences seem to happen more often. That is the universe bringing things to

way. After the interview, I had more questions than answers, and I had not even
gotten the chance to ask him about his actual business. I also really was not sure if
he was a pure genius or if I needed to check him into a mental hospital. Probably both.
After some analysis, I realized his opportunity identification process focused less
on if it was feasible, but more on if he desired to do it. If he desired to something,
the universe would bring everything he needed to him. Basically, the universe
would take care of the feasibility part. I partly agree with Brad and definitely think
that following your desires is a worthy goal. Just like the author of Monk and the

23. Secular Art In David s The Oath Of The Horatii
In chapter 14 and 15, I have chosen three different genres of secular art. My first
choice is a painting, the second a song, and the third a poem. In these chapters, we
are introduced to a more secular style of art, rather than sacred art. This means that
the art is beginning to focus more on historical events and non religious subjects
and stories. The painting I chose is David s The Oath of the Horatii. The main ide
of this painting is historical; three brothers make a promise to defend Rome and
they agreed that they would be willing to give their life in defense. This exemplified
the idea of patriotism, that these men are willing to die for the city they love. This
painting represents many of the same characteristics as art in the Classical

Buddhism as Freedom from Negativity
The title of this paper is posed as a question so that one can explore and investigate
if Buddhism and meditation can bring the mind freedom from negativity. One of the
most important things I have learned thus far, is that anger and hatred are based on
projections and exaggeration, not on objectivity or wisdom. This stikes me as very
important in my search for how to release negativity. If we can accept that things
feelings do not come from wisdom, that it may be possible to realize that they are
fundamentally incorrect.

In Buddhism we learn that we must realize how we attach ourselves to these
thoughts and how to free ourselves from them so that we can let go of our egos.
In Vipassana, the basic principles are about experiencing one s own reality. Much
emphasis is placed on self observation and perception. This notion of self observation
is something many people, including myself often neglect. In individualized Western
culture, especially in the United States, much emphasis is placed upon doing. In such
an environment, there is often little time for self exploration, especially of one s
thoughts. I think this can be attributed to how easily agitated and angered we can
become over little things. We are constantly going through the motions of life,
without looking closely at each motion, and when our path is interrupted or derailed,
we are unhappy. What we can learn from these teachings, however, is that while it
may be impossible to prevent anger and negativity from entering our minds, what we
need to do is keep it from residing within our thoughts.
By closely observing our minds and our thoughts, we may be able to control our
minds and curb the feelings of anger from further evolving. In Pure and Simple, by

28. Essay about Priotities of Gene Therapy
Priotities of Gene Therapy
Gene therapy is a relatively new area of medicine that attempts to apply recent
advances in molecular biology, genetics and biotechnology to the treatment of human
diseases. Gene therapy uses a set of approaches to the treatment of human disease
based on the transfer of genetic material (DNA) into an individual. Gene delivery can
be achieved either by direct administration of gene containing viruses or DNA to
blood or tissues, or indirectly through the introduction of cells manipulated in the
laboratory to harbor foreign DNA. As a sophisticated extension of conventional
medical therapy, gene therapy attempts to treat disease in an individual patient by the
administration of DNA rather than a drug. (1) ... Show more content on

Their successful creation and introduction of an artificial human gene into the T
cells of a young girl suffering from adenosine deaminase deficiency have brought to
life many hopes for treating other genetic diseases. Among the first in that list were
sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, familial
hypercholesterolemia (high serum cholesterol), and some cancers (melanoma,
neuroblastoma, and brain tumors). The idea seemed simple and eloquent. Many
inherited diseases are caused by a single faulty gene, and gene therapy would
deliver the needed gene to a person s cells, which would then begin producing the
missing essential substance. By 1995, there were 106 clinical trials (studies in
humans) approved to test gene therapy for some of these diseases, and AIDS in the
United States. (1) A number of impressive applications of the new recombinant DNA
technology and the molecular pathology of single gene disorders have been
introduced.
The U.S. Government was providing annually about $200 million in research grants
for gene therapy projects. To evaluate the effect of these investments, a special panel
was set up by the National Institute of Health. Report and recommendations of the
panel released in December 1995 summarized the recent progress of research in gene
therapy. It also stated that the importance of this research for clinical

In A Midsummer Night s Dream , by William Shakespeare, love is an act of fate.
Love is fate due to the fact that someone cannot control fate. Fate is something that is
bound to happen no matter what. Another reason love is fate is that true love never
runs smoothly. No relationship will run perfectly smooth because there are always
complications in every relationship. Due to that, loveis an act of fate.
Someone can t control fate. Someone is not able to control something that s bound to
happen, just like someone cant control the earth from spinning. Its bound to happen,
and no one can control it. Although I hate her, I ll not harm her so. (3.2.282). From
the book A Midsummer Night s Dream, by William Shakespeare, Lysander says he
hates Hermia, whom he just was in love with. He hates her due to a love potion he
had been anointed with to love Hermia s best friend, Helena. This is an act of fate
because Lysander could not control or even know that he had been anointed with a
love potion. Therefore, Lysander s love was an act of fate.

1.Referring to the case of medical specialist company, there were a couple of
strength of the training needs analysis is that the HR professional was able to
conduct training programs in order to improve the required skills of employees
for the new system. This was a very important factor because most of the
employees could only work with the old system, which was a system with only
simple design and running window 98. In the training needs analysis, the HR
professional was able to use on the job training method and business games training
method to conduct the training programs to train the employees. These were
effective plan for letting employees to obtain new knowledge and skills to work.
The weakness of the training needs analysis was that they had to spend money to
conduct training programs for those who were illiterate and were not able to
operate the new updated system (Mc Call, 1970). I would recommend the HR
professional of the medical specialist company to prepare training needs
assessment for all employees regularly, such as every six months once or once a
year. This would be helpful for updating the employees knowledge. According to
Denby (2010), the training programs that is provided by company should not be
just simply focus on teaching employees how to perform a certain job but also
focus on guiding them how to do jobs better. Therefore, providing training needs
analysis for all employees would be able to let the HR professional know that what

In this work, Marquez focuses on corruption as Senator Onesimo Sanchez accepts
pay offs from his people. As specified by the text, In this story he is clearly a
corrupt politician who accepts bribes and stays in power by helping the local

it states, We will no longer be foundlings in our own country, orphans of God in a

emphasizes that Sanchez deceives his people in order to stay in power. Additionally,
Sanchez encounters Nelson Farina, who is an escaped convict that continuously begs
him for a false identification card. Thus, Farina sends his daughter, Laura, to seduce
Sanchez into providing him with an ID. However, Laura is wearing a chastity belt
that her father uses to persuade Sanchez into delivering his request. Ultimately, these
ideas relate to the theme of corruption as Sanchez relays and performs deals based on

prominent in the work, because Sanchez suffers alone due to his underlying
alienation. Sanchez is a husband and a father, yet he never tells any of them that he

37. Analysis Of A Small Place By Jamaica Kincaid
Antigua is a small island that was discovered in 1493, by Christopher Columbus. The
natives that lived there were made slaves by the British and the economy thrived on
producing sugar. In 1834 the British abolished slavery giving Antigua its
independence. The sugar industry was failing so the economy relied on tourism. A
Small Placeby Jamaica Kincaidis about Antigua. Kincaid narrates her novel in
second person, blaming the tourists for ruining the culture of Antigua. Kincaid
explains that the British were cruel to the Antiguan people but she forgives them for
it. Kincaid also talked about how the Government is currently corrupt and how
beautiful Antigua s land is. Kincaids novel is broken up into four parts that address
all of these issues in Antigua. The way A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid was
written is effective in the way that it tries to persuade and inform the readers.
In part one of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the readers, she does this by
talking directly to them. Kincaid says that the tourists ruin the culture and that they
are not justified in coming to Antigua for a vacation. Kincaid thinks that tourism is
ugly, an ugly thing, that is what you are when you become a tourist (Kincaid 17).
Kincaid is trying to persuade the reader instead of informing them with a fact or
observation. This direct use of second person is successful to persuade the reader. It
is successful because the reader might feel guilty for traveling and might change his
or her perspective on traveling.
In part four of A Small Place, Kincaid tries to persuade the reader. Kincaid tries to
make the reader think that Antiguas beauty is unreal. Kincaid also instead of
informing you with facts or observations talks about how the British should be
punished for enslaving Antiguans and says in her opinion why they did it. Kincaid
wants the reader to feel that Europeans are truly unhappy, to satisfy their desire for
wealth and power, to feel better about their own miserable existence, so that they
could be less lonely and empty a European disease (Kincaid 80). This use of
persuasion successfully makes you think about human nature. It makes the reader
think of why people would enslave others for money and power.

Google Analytics Dashboards: Delivering Website Traffic Information on a Silver
Platter
Any web marketer and most website owners know and understand the value of
using Google Analytics. It is one of the top, most powerful tools ever made for
monitoring and analyzing website traffic, after all. Through it, it will be easy to
gather important data about a site s visitors who they are, where they are coming
from, how they found a website, which browsers they used, and what keywords
were typed in during a search. If Google Analytics is described with one word it
would be insightful.
Everyone will agree that Google Analytics plays a vital role in any website, but
reading the gathered data is no joke. The real challenge, however, is in determining
which information is deemed important and how it can be made to display
prominently over other details. This is where Google Analytics Dashboards come ...

43. Globalization And The World Economy And Global
Markets Essay
Globalization is often connected to the world economy and global markets.
HoweverHowever, it is much deeper than economic exchange of goods; it also
deals with people s lifestyles, culture, language, and identity. Many people support
the ideology of globalization and believed it made the world a better place for
global population by turning the whole globe into a well connected village. However,
the critics of globalizationclaim it made our world worse than ever before in the
history, diminishing native languages, erasing culturresal, and making a significant
change in our identity and lifestyles. Globalization produces a new world order,
changing our lives into a very disturbing lifestyle, modifying our cultures into a more
Westernized direction with all its good and bad sides, and erasing our native
languages, ultimately causing the loss of identity.
Language is one of the essential elements that determine the identity of individuals.
It is no nation we inhabit, but a language. Make no mistake; our native tongue is
our true fatherlands, says Emil Cioran, Romanian philosopher (MKIceAndFire,
2015). It is our native language that makes us who we are, the way we think, the
way we see right and wrong, and our personality. Hideo Kojima says in his video
game that since ancient times every governor or ruler of civilization has been
maintaining the same ideology: when people unite under one strong government,
they become powerful (MKIceAndFire, 2015). What can bring people
44. The Chattanooga Ice Cream Division
CASE 1: The Chattanooga Ice Cream Division 1. PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
The main problem is, the Ice Cream Division sales were declining over the past four
years. Sales revenue presented more than 180millions of Dollars in 1991, but in
1995 presented only 150 millions of Dollars. During this period, growth of
consumption of ice cream had slowed and competition in ChattanoogaВґs markets
had increased substantially. Charles Moore try to find the best idea to solve a
problem with declining production. 2. PROBLEM ANALYSIS In 1995 for the first
time in recent memory of group, the division was unable to dividend cash up to its
parent. Moves and the departure of members of the top management group within
five years had also destructive effect on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leadership is organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal. Somebody
whom people follow, or somebody who guides or directs others. There are many
different leadership styles that can be exhibited by leaders in business. In my
opinion Charles Moore has to make a change in division. Old system seems bad, if
the production is going down. If I were Charles, I will agree with Walkins. Product
line is too short, so few products are distributing, that competitive is so high. They
have to compete with flavors, not only usual but some unusual and new flavors
they have to arrange to their product portfolio. The best sales line is vanilla flavor,
so maybe mix in with other flavor can be good choice. It is a trend to live healthy.
Healthy lifestyle is highlighted by more and more people, it is not trend only
between women but men are trying to find bio and eco products to live healthy. Bio
and eco product have a future. Probably frozen yogurt is favorite one between
nowadays people. It is healthy and tasty, plenty of vitamins. Modern people are
searching for these products. On the other hand, if we want to sell new product, we
will make a promotion of this product. So without spending some money to marketing
it wouldnВґt be working. As Barry Walkins said you have to spend money to make
money , we donВґt have to wait for money without any action. Cutting costs is very
difficult, if the division want to implement new products. It will spend some money.
If they
45. Summary Of Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist is the narrative of a youthful vagrant, Oliver, and his endeavors to
remain great in a general public that declines to help. Oliver is conceived in a
workhouse, to a mother not known to anybody in the town. She passes on directly
in the wake of bringing forth him, and he is sent to the parochial halfway house,
where he and alternate vagrants are dealt with unpleasantly and sustained practically
nothing. When he turns nine, he is sent to the workhouse, where again he and the
others are dealt with severely and for all intents and purposes starved. Alternate
young men, unfit to stand their appetite any more, choose to attract straws to pick
who should go up and request more nourishment. Oliver loses. On the designated
day, subsequent to completing his initially serving of gruel, he goes up and requests
more. Mr. Blunder, the beadle, and the board are offended, and choose they should
dispose of Oliver, apprenticing him to the parochial funeral director, Mr. Sowerberry.
It isn t extraordinary there either, and after an assault on his mom s memory, Oliver
flees.
Oliver strolls towards London. When he is close, he is so powerless he can scarcely
proceed, and he meets another kid named Jack Dawkins, or the cunning Dodger.
The Dodger reveals to Oliver he can accompany him to a place where a man of his
word will give him a place to rest and sustenance, for no lease. Oliver takes after,
and the Dodger takes him to a flat in London where he meets Fagin, the previously
