The Air Defense Missile System
You know who is a pain in the neck? Terrorists, they are hard to get rid of. Currently in Syria is
the terrorist group named Isis. A nasty group of individuals that are about to have what is coming
to them. As an American soldier when I hear any news about these coward killing innocent
people, it turns my stomach worse than spoiled milk, there will be rest for the wicked this time

The S 400 is the most advanced anti aircraft defense system in Russia, and is unparalleled in the
world.
It s designed to ensure air defense using long and medium range missiles that can hit aerial targets,
including tactical and strategic aircraft as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, at ranges of up to
400 kilometers.
The system consists of a set of radars, missile launchers and command posts, and is operated solely
by the Russian military.
The Russian S 300PMU 1 TMD System
The proliferation of ballistic and cruise missiles has created interest in theater missile defense
(TMD). The objective of a TMD system is to defend against missile attacks. Such a system might
be configured to protect an area as small as a city or port, or as large as several thousand square
kilometers. It could provide protection for civilian populations as well as military forces.
Providing effective TMD would require a seamless network of early warning sensors, command
posts, fire control radars, and anti missile missiles.
Although defensive in nature, the deployment of a TMD system may catalyze threats to
international peace and security by upsetting a regional balance of military forces, undercutting
other states deterrent capabilities, or by protecting forces that can be used for offensive purposes.
TMD deployment may therefore spur an unstable

Theme Of Gender In Wuthering Heights
Emily BrontГ« s Wuthering Height s expresses criticisms of social conventions, particularly those
surrounding issues of gender: notice that the author distributes feminine and masculine
characteristics without regard to sex. BrontГ« had difficulties living in society while remaining
true to the things she considered important: the ideal of women as delicate beings who avoid
physical or mental activity and pursue fashions and flirtations was repugnant to her. Class issues
are also important: one is bound to respect Ellen, who is educated but of low class, more than most
women in the Victorian Era.
Similary, D.H. Lawrence was a prolific poet, essayist, novelist, and painter who is famous forhis
conventional syntax and grammar in writing and for challenging the traditions of English fiction
by his strong portrayal of sexuality (Al Mahasees 7). He portrays women in the similar image as
Bronte s novel, he reflects upon iniquities to which women had been exposed. Additionally, the
depiction of modern society in the light of the present patriarchal society will be discussed to refer
to the difficulties and pitfalls to which the society of women may be exposed (Al Mahasees 8).

their adoption of masculine behaviour. Each female character ... Show more content on

Tragic fall of Icarus--compares the myth and how it...
The Tragic Death of Icarus
The story of Icarus is a classic Greek myth that has fascinated people all over the world. The tale
of his demise has been retold many times throughout history. The myth has been honored in art,
songs, poetry and by literature artists, with one apparently inspiring the other to explore the tale in
one different approach or another. Three of the most appealing of these versions of the tale of
Icarus can be found in the poems Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden
, Landscape with the Fall
of Icarus by W. C. Williams, and Waiting for Icarus by Muriel Rukeyser. Even though the three
poems talk about Icarus s fall, each covers it in a different way. Musee des Beaux Arts and

Birth and death must occur simultaneously; otherwise, there will be no continuity.
Muriel Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus makes no apparent connection with Breughel s painting.
Indeed, while the painting and works of the previous two poets convey a sense of
obliviousness to the fact that a boy has just died, in Waiting for Icarus, Rukeyser considers the
event from a more personal and emotional perspective. This poem concentrates abandonment,
and everything comes to an end. A woman tells a story about her relationship with a man whom
she loves and anticipates his return, a man who promises her so many things. He puts her trust
in him and waits for him, only to find out her lover is man of words not deed, for none of his
promises are fulfilled. He promises her that he will be back and that their relationship is going to
work out for the best. He asks her to wait for his return at the beach and not to cry. She waits for
him, but he abandons her; she finds out that everything in life has an end. The day ends with the
arrival of night. When there is life, death will always follow. Her love story ends with Icarus s
death, broken promises, regret, and heartbreak.
Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus, conveys emotion and sensitivity that is also alluded to by W. H.
Auden and W. C. Williams in their wonderment at why the world has not noticed Icarus in Musee
des Beaux Art, and Landscape with the fall of Icarus. However, Rukeyser s poem portrays love,

This paper describes the development and standardization of a measure of perceived attachment
styles. The four attachment styles namely secure, avoidant insecure, ambivalent insecure, and
disorganized insecure attachment proposed by Mary Ainsworth (1970), Main and Soloman 1986
(Disorganized insecure attachment). The items are constructed on socio cultural and educational
circumstances of adolescent students using mix strategy for construction of the scale by selecting
the items from various attachment scales and by writing some original items. Hence the tool will be
largely suitable for measuring the attachment styles among the adolescent students of Uttar Pradesh,
India. The tool has good criterion related validity and split half reliability.

Humans Ought To Use Nature To Serve Their Own Needs Summary
In the essay Humans Ought to Use Nature to Serve Their Own Needs, Tibor R. Machan says
humans should use nature for their own wants and feel no guilt or shame about it. He feels that it is
okay for human beings to keep destroying the planet with pollution, and the toxic fumes and
chemicals that we pump into the air we breathe every day. Machan believes that because human
beings are nature themselves, we should be able to use nature however we please and indulge in
activities just for our own personal enjoyment and happiness. There are many environmental
activists concerned with the disappearing rain forests and scientists who study global warmingwho
would be appalled at Tibor R. Machan when he says he is grateful for all of the despoiling of our
planet, not to mention everything else he feels about exploiting nature just for fun activities.
Imagine you are a scientist who studies global warming and have seen the effects of human
activity on the planet. You have studied and watched the temperatures rising every year, the ice
caps slowly melting causing sea levels to rise and whole species becoming in fear of extinction.
The evidence of global warming is staggering to you, but still people deny it is even real, and
then to read Tibor R. Machans short essay about how he is actually grateful for the despoiling of
our planet would be devastating. As a scientist who has seen the damage the despoiling has caused,
you would say that his views are completely wrong and probably

Gender And Prime Time From An Early Age
Gender and Prime Time From an early age we learn the differences between girls and boys. Girls
like pink, boys like blue. Girls play with dolls, boys play in the dirt. While these definitions seem
harmless they become much more complex as girls and boys grow to women and men. Women
become emotional mothers and housekeepers while men become firm professionals. Where do we
get these stereotypes? Many would argue that one of the most influential sources of gender
stereotyping is television, the main cultural storyteller in the United States (Emons, Wester, and
Scheepers 40). In most developed countries television has the widest reach of any medium and it
can, and does, intensely influence opinions of all ages of viewers. The average time per person per
week spent involved with television is around 31 hours in the US. That is a number higher than
most European countries like Britain, France, and Germany (Furnham and Bitar 297). Female
characters on TV are depicted as younger, unemployed, and are more likely to be married while
malecharacters reveal much less information about family and marital status and are more likely
to be seen in occupational roles. One popular trend in television right now is crime TV. CSI in
particular was the top rated show in the US from 2002 to 2005 according to Nielsen Media
Research and is the only crime drama to ever top the Nielsen ratings (Lavigne 385). Gender and
sexuality are not the main focus of CSI but their ambiguity could perhaps be

Who Is The Perfect Island In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is set on a paradise like island. There are
only little boys on the island and the author gave them almost a perfect island to live on. They have
fruit, water, but there is no sign of civilization on the island. The boys first instinct was to group
together when the conch was blown. The children can do whatever they wantbecause they have no
authority. They also established a leader right when the whole island was started.
Ralph is one the main characters and he is a John Locke type character. Locke is an
enlightenment thinker and one of his philosophy is he sees everyone as good person. Hobbes is
another philosopher that thinks the opposite of Locke s philosophies in a lot of places, he thinks
that all people are cruel and terrible people and need to be put in there place by a big bad ruler.
Locke had an outlook on government much like Ralph did, he wanted to have someone that could
lead well and had a lot of knowledge on how things worked. The narrator reveals but there was a
stillness about Ralph that marked him out; there was his size, and his attractive appearance; and

each other. The island might have been built up faster and better if Jack took the lead on the
island. He would have his strength and words to scare the others so they would do what he told
them to do. The basis of the story is that people will destroy each other just to get better than
another, the kids on the island were not mature enough to help the fact that every kid had a different

Why Did The United States Become A World Power Dbq Essay
The years between 1860 and 1877 are filled with many developments in the views of the American
people. The North consisted of free states based on an industrial economy while the South based its
agricultural economy on the enslavement of colored males and females. The two sections of
America had two very different views on how the United Statesshould become a world power.
Constitutional developments such as secession of the Southern states in 1860, the Emancipation
Proclamation, and other acts and amendments contributed to more discontent throughout the
country. Developments such as the Black Codes, Freedmen s Bureau, and the creation of the Ku
Klux Klan contributed to the Social aspect of the argument. Problems like these had been amounting

Some states attempted to nullify unfavorable laws. This was viewed as open rebellion and
ultimately lead to the secession of North Carolina. North Carolina seceded from the union on
December 24, 1860, claiming that certain duties were imposed on states and many of their powers
were restrained. They argued that this imperiled their continued existence as sovereign states and
that they could secede because the right is implicit in the constitution. They provided legal
documents provided in the law of compact stating that the federal government did not uphold its
agreement to honor North Carolina s rights as a sovereign state ((Document A). This constitutional
development helped contribute to a revolution because after these drastic actions taken by the
Southern states, the questions of the states rights needed to be resolved. Since the North had won
the Civil War provided them the opportunity for them to put down the idea of nullification and
secession to rest permanently. These results of the war gave more power to the federal government
and kept tension rising in between the

Evaluation Of Language Transcripts From Salt ] Software...
A language sample was elicited during the last hour of the evaluation. The sample was transcribed
and evaluated using the Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts [SALT] software for
quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated
the conversation by choosing to explain how to play the game Googly Eyes rather than utilize any
of the activities provided by the examiner. Andrea s explanation of the game was mostly
chronological, she occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any
confusion. Her speech was fluent, though used the word like frequently. The slight overuse of the
word could be attributed to her age, rather than a reflection of her lexical diversity. Her
descriptions of the game were spontaneous, mostly fluid, and she was 100% intelligible. These
observations suggest this sample was a valid representation of Andrea s language abilities as the
game required several complex explanations in which she performed well.
Throughout the conversation, Andrea displayed a mastery of complex syntactic and
morphological form (mean length of utterance= 7.87) which is expected for her age. Of the 57
utterances examined, Andrea only abandoned 10 utterances (accounting for only 17% of the
sample), usually in favor of of a clearer explanation of sequence of events or choice of words. Her
mastery of semantics was not displayed as appropriately (type token

What Is Cobalt In Pottery
Ancestry The element cobalt was discovered by Swedish chemist Georg Brandt in 1730. Cobalt
had been unknowingly used in pottery for centuries, but Brandt published his scientific results
about the metal in 1739. The blue color given off when cobalt is used in pottery was originally
thought to be because of another element, bismuth; Georg proved this wrong. At first there were
speculations of whether or not that this was a new element. Some other scientists claimed it was
just a compound of iron and arsenic. Eventually it gained the recognition it deserved as an element.

It has a lustrous blue silvery color. The boiling point of cobalt is very high, as it is a metal. Cobalt
melts at 2723 degrees Fahrenheit, and it takes 5301 degrees to boil it. This is assuming that the
atmospheric pressure is normal and you re at sea level. Cobalt is very hard, which makes it
useful to humans. It is also pretty dense, at 8.86 grams per centimeters squared. This metal is
very ductile, but only somewhat malleable. There are only 2 known isotopes of Cobalt. Cobalt
59 is the only naturally occurring isotope of Cobalt. This means that the only cobalt that will
ever be found in nature is cobalt with 32 neutrons. Cobalt 60 is a man made isotope of cobalt. This
radioactive isotope was discovered by Glenn Seaborg in the late 1930 s at the University of
California. Cobalt 60 is an important source of gamma radiation and is used in some medical fields
to treat cancer. As it is a metal, cobalt will not react with water or air at room temperature.
However, if cobalt is heated to above 900 degrees Celsius, the oxide Co3O4 will form. As far as
acids go, cobalt will react to sulfuric acid and will be deteriorated. The direct reaction between
cobalt and bromine will result in dibromide cobalt (II) bromide, CoBr2 being formed. Cobalt is not

Plato s Meno As A Socratic Discussion On Human Sexuality...
Plato s Meno is a Socratic discussion on the definition of human virtues where the main participants
are Socrates and Meno. Other speakers in the dialogue include an Athenian politician, one of Meno
s slaves, and Socrates prosecutor Anytus, who is a friend to Meno. Meno wants to understand the
broad definition of human virtues and while visiting Athens he initiates the dialogue on virtues with
Socrates. The discussion begins with Menoinquiring from Socrates whether virtues can be learned.
Meno argues that, according to the Georgian s, the attribute is defined differently by different
people, and there is no common way to define it so as to apply it to all human beings. In response,
Socrates argues that the Georgians do not understand the real meaning of virtueand in his opinion
that some attributes are common to all human beings. Socrates also rejects the idea that virtues
depend on human sexuality and age and insist that there are common attributes in humans. The
conversation between the two becomes an argument on about the perfect definition of human
characteristics. In essence, this paper discusses the critics in Platos Meno that led to a senseless
conclusion on virtues as it was significantly contributed by Socrates. As well, the paper will support
the argument that the agreement between Socrates and Memo was based on distinct ideas.

The Ultimately Successful The Houthi Movement
Ultimately successful the Houthi movement was able to get a greater role in the Yemeni

Again, I missed to identify the things that didn t made sense in the essay. For example, when the
narrator is talking about the shoes she bought. She didn t need them, but she bought them
anyways, it proved that she was not someone to feel bad for. She was not hurting for money, yet
she gave the impression that she did. In the party where she was catering, she broke the crystal
not because she was careless, moreover, she was upset because of the guests in a table talking;
in her mind, she believed she was smarter and better than them. The other point I fail to notice,
was when she talked about her mom, the mom was someone who was very critical about black
actors. She believed black actors gave a bad impression of blacks because they were giving
condescending role, hence she said blacks don t belong in movies. However, she was a light
skin woman pretending to be a French maid, because her employer wanted that from her. She

General Motors in China
General Motors Company in China Huseyin Akbulut Southern New Hampshire University Abstract
This paper aims to explore the cultural barriers that GM encounters while doing business in China
especially in terms of language and Asian mind difference. As a matter of fact, we cannot examine
all the cultural barriers due to the scope of the paper. On the other hand, some differences emerging
from different thinking behavior between US and China are exemplified in the second part of the
paper. In the first part, the company information and the SWOT analysis of GM are given before
going further with the Asian operations of the company. A Company Information: First of all,

The reason of the increasing sales is increasing sales of Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac. The target
of 2 million car sales is achieved according to GM website as of November 2010. (GM fact sheet,
GM website 2010) GM has a dreadful strategic alliance with Daewoo Company (GM Daewoo) in
South Korea as far as the Asian Pacific market concerned like the case indicated. GM Daewoo
has started to increase sales, yet, it needs way to go. GM Daewoo is the low cost production
base with its facilities in South Korea and Vietnam for some GM brands such as Hummer and
Saturn and Opel of European Operations. The subsidiary made some moves to expand its
operations in Europe by purchasing former Uzbekistan and Romania plants of Daewoo and Polish
car maker Fabryka SamochodГіw Osobowych (FSO) (GM Daewo Company overview, Hoovers
website, 2010, December 5). GMAC INC. This incubation is the financial subsidiary of the
General Motors Company through which the dealers of GM offers credits or lease financing,
vehicle insurance and extended service contracts (10 K annual report, 2010 April 7, GM
website) . GMAC (General Motors Auto Insurance) was the most financially strong subsidiary of
the old GM Company. Yet, GMAC is not wholly owned by GM since 2006. GMAC agreed with
Chrysler to provide auto finance services for the Chrysler dealers in 2009, which made the
company to leverage its core strength of auto financing. On the

Icarus Williams Meaning
The tale of Icarus was supposed to be a life lesson towards children and adolescents to listen and
obey their parents; however, there are four artists that have interpreted the tale in different ways in
forms of a painting and poems. The four artists convey the overall message of Icarus through their
own ways of meanings of the human experience in terms of death and its selfishness. These artists
have in common of illustrating the cruel nature of humans and the insignificant death they face.
Although, the works of the artists convey different meanings of Icarus, they all connects together to
the same theme.
In Brueghel s painting in representation to the tale of Icarus as he demonstrates that death is
meaningless and humans are selfish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brevity of the poem points that humans rather than mourning over deaths, they are more
looking forward to new beginnings, waiting to start a new cycle for life again. Williams says,
not significantly/off the coast/there was/ a splash quite unnoticed/this was/Icarus drowning;
this is a representation of the human nature as being greedy with our own pursuit of happiness,
but have little or no influences on others. Through the use of imagery, Williams convey that
when Icarus was drowning, no one cared to notice as death is seen as insignificant to our
everyday lives. However, Frost s message of the myth of Icarus suggests that the circle of life
starts anew with every ending, like Auden s poem, children unexpectedly dies instead of the old.
Human lives are considered to be unimportant to others; Frosts illustrates through the use of
imagery of how death can be inevitable, stating At the word, the saw,/As to prove saws knew
what supper meant,/Leaped out of the boy s hand (lines 14 17). The imagery of the buzz saw
illuminates that there s no significance towards humans and their greed once they die. Towards the
end of human lives, they re realizing that they are soon to fall for their own deaths like how Icarus
did and it will be meaningless as life continues to move on with its

Romantic Comedy And Annie Hall
Annie Hall is a romantic comedy directed by Woody Allan in 1977. The film is not any everyday
movie but rather a film that revolves around the life of the main actor, Alvy Singer played by
Woody Allen himself and his relationship with Annie Hall, cast by Diane Keaton.
It also reflects on his past relationships, which like the relationship with Annie Hall, have failed.
Most romantic comedy movies fulfil the viewers expectations of the perfect love story whilst
incorporating comedic elements. Typically there is always a pretty girl who falls deeply in love
with a male character, often less popular and less attractive, who makes multiple comedic attempts
in winning her heart until eventually they both fall madly in love and live happily ever after, in
this case a genre movie is expressed as those commercial feature films which through repetition and
variation, tell familiar stories with familiar characters in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alvy does not conform to the norms of expectation as he is not what one would generally refer to
as captivating compared to the majority of the audience eye. He is everything but the male usually
portrayed in most other romantic comedies as he is not muscular, good looking or popular. Alvy s
outlook on dating has been marred by previous bad relationships.
In most romantic comedies the story line is linear and for the most part predictable. Whereas
Annie Hall, although conciliates of a story line, the story is chronological where the start begins
with Alvy talking to the audience directly after having yet another failed relationship. It then goes
on to detail how it is that he comes to be where he is in the beginning of the film. The film is not
as predictable as others as, although a romantic comedy, the romance does not evolve but rather
fades. However the comedic components are similar to those in mundane romantic

The Creation Of The World Bank
The creation of The World Bank was an attempt to remedy the wealth disparities facing African
nations, and open new markets for international trade. Africa s economic stagnation calls for a shift
in paradigm, leaning towards sustained economic growth. It is only through the sustained growth of
these economies that the World Bankcan claim success. This essay will assess the meaning of
failed development, effects of trade liberalization and the impact that multi national corporations
have had on African countries. Imposing neo liberalism on African nations has led to a lack of
sustainable development due to its ability to proliferate complex interdependency and
exploitation. Failure in development is a lack of sustained periods of economic growth and
stability, and an increased dependence on foreign aid. For example, forty five per cent of people in
Sub Saharan Africastill continue to live in poverty (About Sub Saharan Africa). Secondly, the
inability to meet eight of the Millennium Development Goals constitutes a failure in promoting
development within the last fifteen years (The Millennium Development Goals 2014). Furthermore,
World Bank prescriptions have not promoted sustained growth independent of foreign involvement
by [raising] Southern output (Mosley 1949). The World Bank s measured ability to trigger
sustained growth in developing countries has been poor [...] particularly [...] in the poorest

Water Management In Semi-Arid Environments
A major problem for human populations in semi arid environments is the lack of water for
domestic consumption. On average a person needs 200 liters of water (Heller and Padua, 2006)
per day to meet their basic needs (food and drink). This volume of water per person is very
difficult to be obtained in environments where the average annual rainfall is low, less than 800
mm, a value which characterizes the semi arid environment (MI, 2005). This difficulty is even
more important when considering that the rivers that exist in these environments are not
permanent, but go through periods without flow and occurrence of a dry period is greater than
probability of 60% (MI, 2005) .
In this context a major challenge for governments is to enable the supply ... Show more content on

So the watershed is the geographical unit for water management and is an attempt to define the
governance of water in regions. An overall tendency to politicize this management, as well as
focusing on a size of scale to increase connectivity is naГЇve and incorrect because to complexity of
management, this problem is not technical or hydrological, but political (Graefe, 2011).
Basically a water supply system consists of: source of water, water treatment in water treatment
plants, storage and distribution to the consumer. There are cases where the collected water does not
need treatment (Soler et al., 2015).
This challenge it is important when considering cities with hundreds of thousands sometimes many
millions of inhabitants, which directly represents the supply of millions of cubic meters of drinking
water. This geopolitical situation demands large investments in infrastructure that may become
useless or uneconomical if there are changes in the weather pattern.
Considering the complex and dynamic nature of the environmental management, the large number
of prospects as well as the increased need for transparency in decision making processes involving
stakeholders (population). To consider the opinions of people increases the chances of success in
environmental projects (Eshragh et al.,

Bayview University Essay
Introduction
Due to the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2008, a large number of Wall Street executives,
financial managers and other corporate officers were accused of their unethical behavior. At the
same time, some people pointed that cheating had become more prevalent among business students.
An article reported that 56% of business students admitted that they had cheated when they were
studying in school, but only 47% of nonbusiness students admitted to cheating when they were
students. The same type of debate occurred in the Bayview University as well, so the dean

Al Pacino plays a very convincing part as an honest NYPD agent trying to stay truthful while the
immoral behavior around him threatens to influence him otherwise. I loved the satire in one of
the beginning shots of the oath they are taking and what it should mean to them. The way the
oath is completely the opposite of what is actually happening in the department. Also, from the
start of the movie the cop starts to talk about how they let the restaurant owner get away with
double parking so they can get free meals all the way to the end of the movie where they extort
money from worse criminals, they show how the cops are corrupt on a daily basis and just
looking to take what they can. In the beginning Frank seems to be very close to his family and

Mink Stereotypes
Mink (Neovison vison) Introduction Mink (Neovison vison previously Mustela vison)(Ahola et
al., 2011) are semi aquatic carnivorous mammals (Heyen et. al., 2011). In the wild they are a
solitary and very territorial species some some aspects of their way of living in the wild have
been replicated for use in mink farming (Pedersen et al., 2003) for example breeding stock are
housed individually (Meagher et al., 2014) however juveniles may be housed in groups (Alumu

During the year mink will be moved into other cages four to six times with their identities given
by cards attached to their cages that are moved with them (Meagher et al., 2014). As they are

mating in February/March, then pregnant females are moved into whelping pens just before
giving birth in April/May (Meagher et al., 2014). After birth the juveniles live with their mothers
for approximately two months before being weaned (Meagher et al., 2014) then after weaning
the juvenile mink are kept in male female pairs until they are approximately six months old

housed individually while the rest are killed for their pelts (Meagher et al., 2014). Another form of
housing that is becoming increasingly more common for juvenile mink is group housing as it

group housed juveniles may be less stressed than pair housed juveniles and they show

The Influence Of Trash On The Beaches In The United States
A significant amount of my childhood was spent on the beaches in my mom s hometown of

recognize the damage being inflicted on its environment. As I have become older, the issue of
trash on these beaches has become more apparent and I have become more involved with this
issue. For me, being a global citizen means protecting the planet and the people who reside in it,
and this can be tackled by altering the way we treat waste. In the United States we live in a
disposable society. We throw out plastic products after one use and dispose of gently used clothing
and electronics. These products can take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill or can affect

Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation of Virtual Machines Dynamically Abstract
Present operating system virtualization skill allows the live migration of virtual servers between
physical hosts after the primary consolidation. This provides latest avenue for performance
optimization. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation
ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to
estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords:
Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional
data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of
an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes
Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run
Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application
usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating
system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of
applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and
maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an
optimization approach that leverages technique called operating

  • 7. Tragic fall of Icarus--compares the myth and how it... The Tragic Death of Icarus The story of Icarus is a classic Greek myth that has fascinated people all over the world. The tale of his demise has been retold many times throughout history. The myth has been honored in art, songs, poetry and by literature artists, with one apparently inspiring the other to explore the tale in one different approach or another. Three of the most appealing of these versions of the tale of Icarus can be found in the poems Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden , Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by W. C. Williams, and Waiting for Icarus by Muriel Rukeyser. Even though the three poems talk about Icarus s fall, each covers it in a different way. Musee des Beaux Arts and Landscape with the Fall of Icarus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Birth and death must occur simultaneously; otherwise, there will be no continuity. Muriel Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus makes no apparent connection with Breughel s painting. Indeed, while the painting and works of the previous two poets convey a sense of obliviousness to the fact that a boy has just died, in Waiting for Icarus, Rukeyser considers the event from a more personal and emotional perspective. This poem concentrates abandonment, and everything comes to an end. A woman tells a story about her relationship with a man whom she loves and anticipates his return, a man who promises her so many things. He puts her trust in him and waits for him, only to find out her lover is man of words not deed, for none of his promises are fulfilled. He promises her that he will be back and that their relationship is going to work out for the best. He asks her to wait for his return at the beach and not to cry. She waits for him, but he abandons her; she finds out that everything in life has an end. The day ends with the arrival of night. When there is life, death will always follow. Her love story ends with Icarus s death, broken promises, regret, and heartbreak. Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus, conveys emotion and sensitivity that is also alluded to by W. H. Auden and W. C. Williams in their wonderment at why the world has not noticed Icarus in Musee des Beaux Art, and Landscape with the fall of Icarus. However, Rukeyser s poem portrays love, anticipation, ... Machan says humans should use nature for their own wants and feel no guilt or shame about it. He feels that it is okay for human beings to keep destroying the planet with pollution, and the toxic fumes and chemicals that we pump into the air we breathe every day. Machan believes that because human beings are nature themselves, we should be able to use nature however we please and indulge in activities just for our own personal enjoyment and happiness. There are many environmental activists concerned with the disappearing rain forests and scientists who study global warmingwho would be appalled at Tibor R. Machan when he says he is grateful for all of the despoiling of our planet, not to mention everything else he feels about exploiting nature just for fun activities. Imagine you are a scientist who studies global warming and have seen the effects of human activity on the planet. You have studied and watched the temperatures rising every year, the ice caps slowly melting causing sea levels to rise and whole species becoming in fear of extinction. The evidence of global warming is staggering to you, but still people deny it is even real, and then to read Tibor R. • 10. Gender And Prime Time From An Early Age Gender and Prime Time From an early age we learn the differences between girls and boys. Girls like pink, boys like blue. Girls play with dolls, boys play in the dirt. While these definitions seem harmless they become much more complex as girls and boys grow to women and men. Women become emotional mothers and housekeepers while men become firm professionals. Where do we get these stereotypes? Many would argue that one of the most influential sources of gender stereotyping is television, the main cultural storyteller in the United States (Emons, Wester, and Scheepers 40). In most developed countries television has the widest reach of any medium and it can, and does, intensely influence opinions of all ages of viewers. The average time per person per week spent involved with television is around 31 hours in the US. That is a number higher than most European countries like Britain, France, and Germany (Furnham and Bitar 297). Female characters on TV are depicted as younger, unemployed, and are more likely to be married while malecharacters reveal much less information about family and marital status and are more likely to be seen in occupational roles. One popular trend in television right now is crime TV. CSI in particular was the top rated show in the US from 2002 to 2005 according to Nielsen Media Research and is the only crime drama to ever top the Nielsen ratings (Lavigne 385). Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated the conversation by choosing to explain how to play the game Googly Eyes rather than utilize any of the activities provided by the examiner. Andrea s explanation of the game was mostly chronological, she occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any confusion. Meno wants to understand the broad definition of human virtues and while visiting Athens he initiates the dialogue on virtues with Socrates. The discussion begins with Menoinquiring from Socrates whether virtues can be learned. Meno argues that, according to the Georgian s, the attribute is defined differently by different people, and there is no common way to define it so as to apply it to all human beings. In response, Socrates argues that the Georgians do not understand the real meaning of virtueand in his opinion that some attributes are common to all human beings. • 28. Water Management In Semi-Arid Environments A major problem for human populations in semi arid environments is the lack of water for domestic consumption. On average a person needs 200 liters of water (Heller and Padua, 2006) per day to meet their basic needs (food and drink). This volume of water per person is very difficult to be obtained in environments where the average annual rainfall is low, less than 800 mm, a value which characterizes the semi arid environment (MI, 2005). This difficulty is even more important when considering that the rivers that exist in these environments are not permanent, but go through periods without flow and occurrence of a dry period is greater than probability of 60% (MI, 2005) . In this context a major challenge for governments is to enable the supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the watershed is the geographical unit for water management and is an attempt to define the governance of water in regions. An overall tendency to politicize this management, as well as focusing on a size of scale to increase connectivity is naГЇve and incorrect because to complexity of management, this problem is not technical or hydrological, but political (Graefe, 2011). Basically a water supply system consists of: source of water, water treatment in water treatment plants, storage and distribution to the consumer. There are cases where the collected water does not need treatment (Soler et al., 2015). This challenge it is important when considering cities with hundreds of thousands sometimes many millions of inhabitants, which directly represents the supply of millions of cubic meters of drinking water. This geopolitical situation demands large investments in infrastructure that may become useless or uneconomical if there are changes in the weather pattern. Considering the complex and dynamic nature of the environmental management, the large number of prospects as well as the increased need for transparency in decision making processes involving stakeholders (population). To consider the opinions of people increases the chances of success in environmental projects (Eshragh et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation of Virtual Machines Dynamically Abstract Present operating system virtualization skill allows the live migration of virtual servers between physical hosts after the primary consolidation. This provides latest avenue for performance optimization. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords: Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an optimization approach that leverages technique called operating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
