This shelter is composed of many individuals with many traits, skills, and fundamental qualities that
will aid in the survival and development of our society in the coming years after the Nuclear war. For
the moment, our I cannot give too many details of my plan for our shelter as it may be hindered by
unknown enemies, but I can share with you my philosophies. I believe that a society needs order, it
needs discipline, commitment and most importantly good people with a good heart. I believe every
resident of this shelter has those qualities within them. I have six main goals for us: survive, educate,
clean up, rebuild/restructure, repopulate and re unite. Our shelter has all the proper defenses and
shields to prevent any harm to us from the chaos and radiation that will transpiring outside of these
walls. Our walls are 15 ft. thick of many layers of protection. We have our very own water supply,
food supply both grown here and preserved. We generate our own electricity and have many energy
efficient appliances. I have put into place many emergency plants of surviving incase for some reason
our shelter becomes compromised. The next goal is educating our young ones. While we wait for the
radiation levels to minimize, everyone will be educated for specific roles to better prepare our survival
after leaving the shelter. Children however, will receive proper basic education. Those that wish to
continue in education will have that option or they may

Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay
It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis
County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all
ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt
down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with
sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police
officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes
hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has
turned into a battle field.
A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent
version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled
with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or
physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King,
was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating
Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their
crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically
assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world.
Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the
justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was
caught on film. When justice was not served, violence erupted in an attempt to gain a reaction from
higher authority

The Children Burial Of Ancient Egypt
The children burial in ancient Egypt:
Ironically, the oldest human grave so far discovered in Egypt is that of a child. The grave was
discovered in 1994 at Taramsa Hill (near Qena in Upper Egypt, located near the modern site of the
temple of Hathor at Dendara). It contained the skeleton of a child between 8 and 10 years, buried
about 55,000 years ago (Middle Paleolithic age). The child found sitting against the wall of a shallow
pit, its face skyward, legs pulled up, left arm on its hip and right arm behind its back (Pl. 1).
The pre dynastic period provided us with cemeteries intended for the children. This was found at
Adaima (8 km south of Esna) precisely the eastern cemetery that contains 60 graves. The southern part
of this cemetery contained only children s graves dating to the Naqada period (4th millennium BC).
The percentage of the children graves in this cemetery is 87 %. Most of the dead children varied in
age from six months to 9 years. However, most of the burials belonged to children from 0 to 4 years.
The children were either placed in pottery jars (pl. 2) or buried in pits (Pl. 3 4). They were buried in a
crouching position. It seems that the child mortality here related to a tuberculosis epidemic.
Pre dynastic children burials (4th millennium BC) were found at Riqqa (site between Lisht and
Medum at El Fayoum) in an area called Gerzeh, where 51 burials of infants and children were found
among a total of 249 intact burials. 12 children burial among 43

Native American Research Paper
This essay will be examine the US government s effort to deal with the Indians from 1877 through
1900 to include warfare, treaties, and the Reservation System. Indian Territory was a promising land
with a lot of investing potential for railroad and mining, the perception of American s ethnocentrism
(white supremacy), and Americans think that Whites were more evolved than the Indians because they
were more intellectual and educated than the Indians, so the US s government put in their efforts to
forcefully deal with the Indians to settle both parties interests.
The invention of the railroad gave Americans a huge advantage towards transportations. Americans

In the result of this conflict, the United States government sent reservation polices to arrest the Sitting
Bull. It was getting more intense when the reservation police shot and killed Sitting Bull because he
was not complying with the order. Shortly after Christmas in 1890, the remaining Sioux sought refuge
at Pine Ridge. Indians had only a few guns, the possibility of resisting the force of the federal
government was absolutely zero. The trooper ordered the Indians turn over their weapons (guns, knife,
etc..) but one of them fired his rifle, soldiers then let loose with their carbines, at the same time, the
big gun on the hill shelled the tepees. Over between 200 and 300 of the original 350 men, women, and
children were dead. This massacre led to Indian tribes being attacked, subdued, starved out, and live in
poverty. Even though the Allotment Act tried to turn these Indian into American small farmers, but
land was taken by White speculators, the Indians were left with nothing. John Collier had attempted to
restore tribal life, but unfortunately no fundamental change took place; Indians stayed on the
impoverished reservations. This is important because the United States government effort to deal with
Indians, ironically, turned it into a bloody historical event. Many Indians were dead, the population
dramatically dropped to 300,000 from the original one million. Many Indians said the Indian
Reservations is the most complete colonial

Cultural Sensitivity And Culture And Other Practices
Cultural Sensitivity Khader Salami Cultural sensitivity refers to the awareness as well as the
sensitivity to culture and other practices. Cultural sensitivity can encompass examining different
cultures and how they should be accurately approached in the health care. It also includes how to
communicate according to within the health care setting. Cultural sensitivity is important area because
it can impact the way people work in the health care facilities. It also encompasses valuing differences
so as harassment, discrimination, either intended or not. Culture is a fundamental and complex
concept which consists of broad aspects of people in the health care setting (Campinha Bacote, 2003).
It includes the concepts of sexual orientation, gender, faith, age, disability, race, ethnicity, profession
and socioeconomic status. Cultural sensitivity stems from this understanding in that; it s inlcude
interpersonal skill as well as the knowledge that will allow the providers of health care, appreciate,
understand, and work with individuals from different cultures other than theirs. It also consists of
acceptance and awareness of the people s cultural differences, knowledge, self awareness of the
cultures of the patient and adapting to the skills. Many cultural groups, including lesbian and gay

The Ambience Of Shopping Malls
The results of the study reveal that the assortment of stores, sales promotions, ambience of shopping
malls, and comparative economic gains in the malls gather the attention of higher customer traffic to
the malls. The urban shoppers visit shopping malls as a leisure center to relax, tend to shop in
response to various promotions and spend long hours. The major factors that affect shopping
stimulation among urban shoppers are store ambience and attractiveness relating to products and
services, location of the mall, brand value and price and recreational facilities.
Lee et al. (2009)35, in their study entitled Shopping value in online auctions: their antecedents and
outcomes have revealed that it is very rare in the marketing literature concerning the research on store
aspects as potential antecedent among the hedonic and utilitarian shopping value. The association
between utilitarian and hedonic values with the attitude of store trait has been analyzed. The research
was performed in a provincial shopping mall in Midwest of US to determine the satisfaction of
respondents using eighteen shopping malls qualities. Complete items in the malls are reviewed in

Expression Of Mind Tupac Analysis Essay
Expression of Mind: An Analysis of Tupac Shakur s XXXXX
Because of his traumatic upbringing, Tupac Shakur is known for his blunt and unfiltered lyrics and
ability to catch the attention of his audience. Shakur was born Lesane Parish Crooks in June of 1971 in
East Harlem, New York. Later in 1972, his mother changed his name to Tupac Amaru Shakur, after the
last Inca monarch, who, ironically, was executed after leading an indigenous uprising against Spanish
rule. Tupac was born into a family of Black Panthers, a revolutionary black nationalist and socialist
organization. In school, Shakur often excelled teacher s expectations. He was extremely intelligent and

Tupac Shakur spoke out against police brutality and felt strongly about equality and expression of
mind which reflected in his art. Most of his themes and topics revolved around inner city struggles,
racism, freedom, and other social conflicts. Shakur s poem In the Depths of Solitude, outlines not only
many of the internal struggles that Shakur was dealing with, but the struggles that a lot of young,
black men were dealing with during that particular time period. This poem is written as a dedication to
himself and the only audience is him. In the poem, the speaker, Tupac himself, is, Trying 2 find peace
of mind (3). During this time period, Tupac is forced to face all the struggles that come along with
being a well known rapper and idol, admired and observed by so many. Like many young people,
Shakur is not completely secure within himself and with so many others depending on him to be a

Thirteen Reasons Why Analysis
Preserving Intellectual Freedom The American Library Association states that the most challenged and
restricted reading material have been children books. However, challenges are not merely an
expression of a point of view; on the contrary, it is an attempt to remove materials from public use,
thus restricting the access to others. Even if the motivation to ban or challenge a book is well intended,
the outcome is unfair for everyone else. Censorship denies our freedom as individuals to choose and
think for ourselves. For children, decisions about what books to read should only be made by the
people who know them best their parents! (Letter to the Editor). I strongly disagree when people want
books banned based on their own opinion of the book. The novel in question, Thirteen Reasons Why
by Jay Asher, is no exception to frequent challenges. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a privilege that we all have in the United States and it should not be taken lightly. Parents should
understand that they have a right to decide what their child reads, but they should not take away that
same right from other parents. The attempt to expose students to challenging topics and issues is not
intended to force students into a certain mode of thought. Books serve as opportunities for students to
think, theorize, question, and explore those topics in a controlled environment directed by teachers,
parents, and experts and even though the book contains some sensitive material the lessons learned are
far superior to the controversial material presented in Thirteen Reasons Why. Great lessons are not just
learned in real life; we can learn them in books as well. Give the book an honest try and do not be
biased to sensitive material, grasp the main message of the book then make the final decision, but
make sure it is for your child, not the entire school

A Bronx Tale It s the sixties. Racism is running hot through the streets of New York. One
neighborhood in particular, where one group of boys makes the choice that will change their lives and
everyone s around them forever. These boys are young, full of talent and smart. These boys choose to

would not want to wish on anybody. Here these young talented boys cram into a car and ride to the

Emotions InSympathy, By Paul Laurence Dunbar
Emotions are constantly building up inside of you. Some may be feelings of joy or pleasure, while
others are emotions of sadness, pain or frustration. Typically, we relieve our emotions through writing,
by talking to therapists, possibly doing yoga, or even sleeping. Well, back in 1800s, most slaves didn t
have the luxury to learn how to read or write. They were whipped for sleeping, as they worked most
hours of the day and they definitely didn t have any therapists to talk to. This made the slaves release
their emotions in more unconventional ways, such as singing. This is described in the poem Sympathy
by Paul Laurence Dunbar, which is about the imprisonment of the life of a slave and excerpt from
Narrative (pages 8 9) by Frederick Douglass, a personal insight to Douglass horrid life as a slave. Both
texts convey the central idea that during times of sorrow, slaves would sing to release their pain and
misery. These songs they sung were not songs of joy.
Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar depicts the idea of slaves singing for their sorrow and releasing
their emotions by using an extended metaphor which carries the entire poem. The caged bird,
referenced throughout the entire poem, are the slaves. Trapped up with no escape, not able to break
free. The metaphor of the caged bird to represent the slaves in this poem truly carries the piece and
depicts the imprisonment of slavery. Dunbar evokes imagery ,describing ...when the sun is bright on

Essay on Monarch Butterfly
The monarch butterfly, as known as Danaus plexippus, is often called the milkweed butterfly because
its larvae eat the milkweed plant. They are also sometimes called quot;royalty butterflies quot;
because their family name comes from the daughter of Danaus, ruler of Argos. There are many other
interesting facts about this butterfly including its anatomy and life cycle, where the butterfly lies on
the food chain, the migration from Canada to Mexico, why the butterfly is being threatened, and lastly,
what is being done to help the butterfly.

Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has toxins which make the wings of the
butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks nectar while the caterpillar eats the
milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is Asclepias ssp. or milkweed (Wexler, 1994).
The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh conditions on the northern US. They move south
from areas of southern Canada and most of the US to a few sites in Mexico (Grzimek s, 2003). They
migrate itself usually takes three to four generations of monarchs (Clattenburg, 2004). Scientists do
not know why they migrate, but there are different theories. The first theory is the change of light in
fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others scientists claim the monarchs have a chemical in their bodies in
which they are attracted to Mexico where the congregate in certain trees (Clattenburg, 2004). The
latter does not explain why monarchs stay in Southern Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999).
Three different things are endangering the monarch butterfly. First, is the deforestation of Mexico.
Through illegal logging of the forests and the thinning of the canopy the monarchs are left vulnerable
to the elements including frost and freezing rain (Wexler, 2004). Second, is a genetically engineered
corn. The corn is engineered to be insect

Cost can also depend on if you attend a two year school to get your basic classes out of the way. The
average cost of a bachelor s degree at a public four year school would be $22,261, compared to a
private school where the price jumps to $43,289. Again, the cost depends on what school you attend.
Because of my interest in continuing an athletic career on the baseball field, where I attend school is
limited. With my interest in being both on the academic and athletic fields, my choices are narrowed.
If I were to choose my perfect path it would be attending a two year school to get my basic studies
done cheaper, and then after those two years, I would like to attend a four year school to finish up my

character description of the two murderers, Richard Hickock and Perry Smith, as he recreates their

The Core Elements Of The Registered Pension Plan
Individual Pension Plan Background As a baseline to understanding an IPP, it is critical to establish
some of the core elements of the registered pension plan (RPP) regime. AN IPP is essentially a defined
benefit pension plan (DB) setup by an employer with a limited number of designated beneficiaries
(e.g. directors and officers) or possibly, a single beneficiary (owner manager). It requires registration
with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with ongoing maintenance and compliance in accordance with
the Act. Failure to comply with rules set forth in the ITA could result in revocation or deregistration,
which consequently could lead to unfavorable tax consequences. The plan must be sponsored and
funded by a corporation with funding possibly also coming from employees. In general, DB plans
offer employees specific future pension benefits upon retirement, typically calculated on the basis of a
percentage of their employment income over their service period. IPP subscribers have additional
confidence in knowing that their post employment benefits will be fixed in value each year which
eliminates the uncertainty and concerns raised with retirement investments premised on the
performance of capital markets. Pension plans are in the purview of either provincial or federal
legislation; however, the scope of this discussion is confined to the Act. Perhaps the most attractive
feature of an IPP is that for the right individual(s), it is a more effective tax planning vehicle by

Emission Standards of the Diesel Engine
Diesel engines began to be used in automobiles in the 1930s. They are used in many trucks, ships,
buses and small passenger cars in Europe right now.[1] Many believe that diesel engine are heavier,
noisier and generate black smock when running. However, diesel engine s unique advantages can
make them the engine of the future for vehicles. And with much more stringent standard to take effect
in the future, diesel engine s emissions and control technologies are still very much in the forefront.
This paper will cover the developments in diesel vehicles emission regulation and control technology
for NOx, particulate matter (PM) for diesel vehicles.
Regulation
Right now there are two kinds of emission standard in US. One of them is federal standards
established by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and another is California standards.
Since the State of California are facing more severe air pollutant problem than most of other state,
they choose to adopt its own emission regulations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB)

The Importance Of Beauty Adverts For Online Chinese...
As a woman on Facebook, my daily news feed is peppered with a barrage of beauty advertisements.
Ads for make up subscription boxes and diet teas wedge themselves between harrowing news stories
and cat memes. They fill side bars with flashing promises to improve whatever it is that society says I
need to improve, or reveal the next new thing to help me stay young, unique, and relevant. While most
are simply irritating and easy to ignore, none have been quite as intriguing as the recent onslaught of
ads for online Chinese clothing boutiques. These online stores, based in places like Hong Kong and
Shanghai, should easily garner customers with images of beautiful, waif like models wearing gorgeous

One reason such companies can so routinely take advantage of people using Facebook s infrastructure,
they write, is that the social network s policing of users and advertisers is limited to what happens on
the service its monitoring doesn t extend to bad experiences users have once an ad click takes them
away from the site. In essence, Facebook absolves itself of any involvement while also giving the
retailers the platform to advertise as unscrupulously and aggressively as they wish. It would appear
that this unchecked partnership is the gateway for many risky clothing purchases, but Chinese
boutiques have also followed a trend set by larger retailers to use bloggers instead of models to sell
clothing. Beauty and fashion bloggers tend to review these retailers extremely favorably, usually after
partnering with the retailers through so called blogger programs to receive free clothes in exchange for
positive reviews and a flattering camera angle while they model their latest clothing haul (Porter).

A Historical Framework For The Contemporary Racial Of Mexico
With the recent discovery of 1.38 million Afro Mexicans based on a population survey conducted in
2015, two central questions have emerged surrounding the presence of Mexicans with African
ancestry in Mexico (Quartz). First, why were nearly 1.4 million Afro Mexicans not recognized in
Mexico s population census by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, which began data
collection of Mexican citizens in 1983 (Colorlines)? Secondly, how has their lack of representation at
the national level impacted them geographically?
Throughout this paper, I will answer the aforementioned questions by establishing a historical
framework for the contemporary racial ideologies in Mexico rooted in Spanish colonial legacies. By
providing this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, I will outline the static nature of Afro Mexican identity through an analysis of the
popular cartoon Memin Penguin. I will explain how this stagnant representation of Mexican blackness
isolates the Costa Chica of Guerrero from other spaces in Mexico. I will conclude by addressing why
this topic is significant to my scholarship as a student and what I hope further scholarly investigation
will uncover.
Before I unpack social racism in Mexico, it is important to distinguish two key points for reading this
paper. First, I use the terms African or Africanness and black or blackness interchangeably to represent
specifically Afro Mexicans in the Costa Chica of Guerrero who identify racially as black. Secondly,
white is used to distinguish White Mexicans while mestizo[s] signifies racially mixed Mexicans with
predominantly Spanish European and Indigenous Amerindian ancestry (Jerry). Mexico s Social
Racism
In order to understand how 1.38 million Afro Mexicans have remained hidden, I must first recount
their origins in Mexico dating back to the Spanish colonial era. During the 16th and 17th century,
100,000 250,000 African slaves were forcibly transported to New Spain to work on the sugarcane
plantations (Githiora). Most arrived at the Veracruz Port in South Central Mexico along the Gulf Coast

The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place
INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place
Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the Global
Market Place
The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world that are
not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods
and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic
business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in
order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in
particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international
marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Web and its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the
globe (O Reilly, 2009).
In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main
factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and
technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling
barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in
easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). This can be achieved through different
methods such as the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Under these agreements,

Female Heroism
In both Goblin Market and The Bloody Chamber , women face objectification as pornographic objects
whose solitary purpose is to be a man s appealing possession. Evidently, the objectification of women
impacted the way each author constructed their texts. Feminist movements aiming to undermine these
rigid female and male roles are prominent in the time period of both literary works. Both Christina
Rossetti and Angela Carter use strange worlds to differentiate from the typical fairy tale s predictable
conclusion and instead make a statement through the use of a female heroine. Both literary works

The Ancient Roman Civilization
The Ancient Roman civilization was a remarkable society noted in history, it was led by countless
great leaders that sustained the great civilization for ages. The Romans encountered many wars and
battles, they didn t win all of their battles; however, they ve learned through their failures to improve
upon the progress of their society. In 264 BC to 146 BC the Romans were involved in a prolonged war
with the Carthaginians, known as the Punic War. (Chris Scarre, 24 25) The word Punic comes from
the Latin derivation of the word Punicus which translates to Carthaginian , referring to the
Carthaginian s Phoenician ancestors. (Keith Sidwell, 16) The Punic war was broken into 3 parts: The
first Punic war (264 241 B.C.), the second Punic war (218 201 B.C.), and the third Punic war (149 146
B.C.) Wars around this era wasn t based on ideals, it was strictly for territory. The Romans fought for
control over the lands all throughout Europe, North Africa, and parts of Middle East. Around this time
the Carthaginians were the biggest threat to the Romans. It wasn t only because they had land, but also
the competitions of trade/economic stand point. This was the final spark for the Romans to part take in

Combination Therapy In Contemporary Psychotherapy
Last week, I went to grand rounds and watched a presentation by Dr. Susan J. Waller and Dr. William
T. Nay. Their presentation was titled The Role of Psychotherapy in Contemporary Psychiatry, which
aimed to find greater understanding of the dynamics that have changed psychotherapy s role in
modern psychiatry and medical education. Their present goal was to assure VCU students and faculty
that there are no problems or bias in VCU/MCV psychotherapy training. Currently, students are
required to study psychotherapy, so Waller and Nay looked to find if it was a necessary requirement.

outcomes. That sounds like a small effect, but comparing treatment from the most effective and the

Instructional Setting And Content Area Essay
Instructional Setting and Content Area The instructional setting for this unit is an elementary school.
All lessons will be taught to a fourth grade glass, consisting of 24 students. The lessons will take place
during the assigned math block (an 80 minute portion of the day). These lessons will be a scaffolded
focus on problem solving, specifically multiplication and division word problems. Instructional
Problem The vast majority of incoming and current 4th grade students in this school haven t yet
mastered the state standard for problem solving (Standard 4.OA.A.3). Specific standards are set by the
Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and adopted by Washington State (Common Core State
Standards Initiative, (n.d.)), and require students to be able to solve multi step word problems in all
four operations. Incoming fourth grade students struggle with solving these word problems accurately.
These students need to pass the state mandated Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) which requires
completion of a problem solving performance task. Their score on this assessment will determine their
placement in grade 5 at the district s middle school. Students have difficulty with word problems
mostly based on lack of strategies and poor language interpretation. While fact fluency may be
present, the ability to interpret vocabulary to guide computation leaves many students unable to
construct mathematical models to interpret or solve problems. Students have difficulty in analyzing

On Death And Dying Analysis
George Patton Jr once said that, It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should
thank God that such men lived. Mr.Patton realized that death is natural and inevitable, so he gives
thanks to God for the life that he, his friends and family have been dealt. At funerals, usually several
individuals are pain stricken and severely upset. These individuals have been conditioned to fear death
and to believe that death is something to run away from. Elizabeth Kubler Ross speaks about actually
tuning into the patients in order to figure out what their needs are. Mrs. Kubler Ross, in her novel, On
Death Dying uses a five step blueprint in order to describe the dying process effectively.
When my Pawpaw was in his late 60 s he started his journey to the end of his life. Unlike several
people, he never seemed to cling to false hope in order to comfort himself during his final transition.
During the denial stage, he was sent to multiple heart doctors. Each doctor gave him an estimate on
life and continually told him that he would not have much longer to live. Essentially, according to

Death is inescapable. Praise God for the life he has blessed his children with. In Elisabeth Kubler Ross
novel On Death Dying she effectively explains the dying process in five steps: denial, anger,
bargaining, depression and acceptance. The impact of her novel, if given the chance, on the medical
field would be tremendous in the attempt of allowing individuals to die with their dignity while also
remaining in peace throughout the majority of the process. In reality a funeral should not consist of
mourning over what is lost. A funeral should be a celebration of the life the individual was blessed
with and the impact they had on the people around them. Truly in the end, death is a blessing to those

Intimate Partner Violence And Sexual Abuse Essay
Parents who perpetrate or suffer from intimate partner violence are more likely to be parents who
mistreat their own children. The explanation that links these two together is dissociation, which allows
parents who are abusers to remain distant from and minimize sympathy toward their victims.
Additionally, there is a higher rate of dissociation disorders among intimate partner violence survivors
and perpetrators. The objective of the study performed by Webermann, Brand, and Chasson in 2004
was to see how prevalent intimate partner violence is among those who commit childhood
maltreatment. To gather this data, dissociative disorder clinicians reported on the rates of childhood
maltreatment and intimate partner violence from 275 patients and assessed the associations between
childhood maltreatment and partner violence. The results showed that there was a correlation between
the two factors and that physical abuse was associated with physical spouse violence, while neglect
was associated with emotional spouse violence (Webermann, Brand, Chasson, 2014). Intimate partner
violence (or IPV) encompasses physical, sexual, psychological, or emotional harm from a partner.
Approximately 25 percent of women and only 1.5 percent of men endure severe physical abuse, while
20 percent of women experience rape, the number for men is still 1.5 percent. Additionally, 50 percent
of both men and women experience some kind of psychological aggression. This means that women

How Your Local Restaurant Doesn t Charge
Your local restaurant doesn t charge you a fixed price and tell you to gorge yourself on whatever

Bolshevik And Menshevik Party Essay
Angered by the current status of the political system, the working class in early 20th century Russia
was ready to fight for a change. The Bolshevik party, a branch of the Russian Social Democratic
Worker s Party (RSDWP) led by Vladimir I. Lenin, rose to power through a series of revolutions,
fighting for a societal evolution that would lead a once capitalist Russia into a communistic political
powerhouse. Two parties represented the left wing of the RDSWP, both wanting similar changes. Both
the Menshevik and Bolshevik parties desired a socialist society, though their approaches to change the

By World War 1, the Bolshevik party was the only political party in Russia to fight vocally to end the
war, insisting that it was dividing the working class and leading them to death. Due to this
vocalization, the leaders of the movement were arrested; Lenin had escaped from the arrests and
moved to Switzerland, leaving behind a small core group who supported the movement. On April 4,
1917, Lenin returned to Russia to give his April Thesis to Social Democratic Parties. He pushed a new
program, stating that it was time to start a socialist society before a bourgeois government was
permanent. Moreover, he established a tactical program to stir a revolution for a proletariat. Their
slogan, Peace, Land and Bread, highlighted the three areas the party believed were necessary for
success, of which to current government was failing to excel at. Particularly, the provisional
government lacked an agrarian program, left urban populations starving to help the war, and they,
according to Lenin, were in need of a new offensive. Lenin emphasized most that all power should be
left with the soviets. As a result, on October 24 25, 1917, Lenin and the Bolshevik party led Russian
workers and peasants to overthrow the Provisional government and set up a soviet government. The
revolution resulted in peace on all fronts, and enabled the party to take over the

Our objective in this science project was to make a pendulum ride for Northwood High School that
could be securely utilized by students. We needed to make a ride, with a time of precisely 1.5 seconds,
which will give a ride that is not too quick, not too slow, but just right (Northwood Land Article 1).
The ride couldn t be higher than 75 cm, it couldn t make an angle more prominent than 45 degrees,
and distinctive quantities of individuals could be on the ride at once so we should have been ready to
have diverse weights that still support with the well being capabilities. Our three hypotheses for this
undertaking were that expanding the quantity of individuals will make the ride go slower, expanding
the edge will build the period time, and ultimately, an expanded string length will expand the period
time. With a specific end goal to test our speculation and achieve the 1.5 period time, we needed to
figure out how to test every variable. We chose to consolidate the components of weight, angle, and
string length to discover which mix of the three would make a period time of 1.5 seconds while in the
meantime, attempt to demonstrate or refute our hypothesis. Altogether, we needed to make three

Fast Food And The Food Meal Essay
A fast food meal may not be so simple after all considering the ingredients that go into a meal. We
aren t fully aware of what all the ingredients are in our food. We just see either a short or a long list of
words that is just scientific jargon to us. We do become more concerned of what we are eating if there
is a long endless list of contents. One ingredient that we all know if high fructose corn syrup. There
are high amounts of it in our fast food which explains why we can get so addicted to fast food. Earlier
I said most of what a fast food meal is comprised of is sugar, carbs, and sodium. Sugar and fat are the
leading ingredients that give us an energy boost. They make energy dense foods which is what fast
food is an energy dense food. Energy dense foods are inexpensive to produce. Pollan says one reason
that obesity and diabetes become more prevalent the further down the socioeconomic scale you look is
that the industrial food chain has made energy dense foods the cheapest foods in the market (107).
Sugar is pretty cheap and it makes sense to price a meal at a low rate. We can t forget that most of a
meal is also comprised of corn which make it cheaper too. Because they are inexpensive, their price
isn t sky high which makes it ideal for low income families. They are able to afford a high calorie

The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the
Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500

devices to create unique storylines and plot twists, and there are many instances in which the cultural
norms of gender roles and attractions are tested. Many critics, in particular Northrup Frye, would
consider Twelfth night a comedy because of the characters and their situations throughout the play.

Twelfth Night is still considered to be one of Shakespeare s most successful comedies in modern
times. Doubling is the act of having a character pretend to be another character by using a disguise or
by trickery. Although there are not a lot of instances of doubling in Twelfth Night, it is still considered
to be one of the main literary devices that make this play a comedy. Shakespeare manipulates the story
line and its characters by using disguises and trickery. The main plot of this story revolves around
disguise. Viola, the main character, disguises herself as Cesario. She decides to disguise herself in
order to gain entrance into the Duke Orsino s house. Viola pleads to the ship captain: Conceal me what
I am, and be my aid/ for such disguise as happy shall become/ the form of my intent. I ll serve this
Duke (I.ii. 56 58). This is the moment in which Viola decides that she will double under the name of
Cesario. Doubling in Shakespeare s time was very common, especially girls being disguised as boys.
This allowed for one actor to play many parts, and since there were no girl actors in Shakespearian
time, many men played girls who disguised themselves as men. This allowed for a sense of comedy to
overshadow the play. The American Shakespeare

  • 3. Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has turned into a battle field. A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King, was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world. Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was caught on film. When justice was not served, violence erupted in an attempt to gain a reaction from higher authority ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Children Burial Of Ancient Egypt The children burial in ancient Egypt: Ironically, the oldest human grave so far discovered in Egypt is that of a child. The grave was discovered in 1994 at Taramsa Hill (near Qena in Upper Egypt, located near the modern site of the temple of Hathor at Dendara). It contained the skeleton of a child between 8 and 10 years, buried about 55,000 years ago (Middle Paleolithic age). The child found sitting against the wall of a shallow pit, its face skyward, legs pulled up, left arm on its hip and right arm behind its back (Pl. 1). The pre dynastic period provided us with cemeteries intended for the children. This was found at Adaima (8 km south of Esna) precisely the eastern cemetery that contains 60 graves. The southern part of this cemetery contained only children s graves dating to the Naqada period (4th millennium BC). The percentage of the children graves in this cemetery is 87 %. Most of the dead children varied in age from six months to 9 years. However, most of the burials belonged to children from 0 to 4 years. The children were either placed in pottery jars (pl. 2) or buried in pits (Pl. 3 4). They were buried in a crouching position. It seems that the child mortality here related to a tuberculosis epidemic. Pre dynastic children burials (4th millennium BC) were found at Riqqa (site between Lisht and Medum at El Fayoum) in an area called Gerzeh, where 51 burials of infants and children were found among a total of 249 intact burials. 12 children burial among 43 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the result of this conflict, the United States government sent reservation polices to arrest the Sitting Bull. It was getting more intense when the reservation police shot and killed Sitting Bull because he was not complying with the order. Shortly after Christmas in 1890, the remaining Sioux sought refuge at Pine Ridge. Indians had only a few guns, the possibility of resisting the force of the federal government was absolutely zero. The trooper ordered the Indians turn over their weapons (guns, knife, etc..) but one of them fired his rifle, soldiers then let loose with their carbines, at the same time, the big gun on the hill shelled the tepees. Over between 200 and 300 of the original 350 men, women, and children were dead. This massacre led to Indian tribes being attacked, subdued, starved out, and live in poverty. Even though the Allotment Act tried to turn these Indian into American small farmers, but land was taken by White speculators, the Indians were left with nothing. John Collier had attempted to restore tribal life, but unfortunately no fundamental change took place; Indians stayed on the impoverished reservations. This is important because the United States government effort to deal with Indians, ironically, turned it into a bloody historical event. Many Indians were dead, the population dramatically dropped to 300,000 from the original one million. Many Indians said the Indian Reservations is the most complete colonial ... • 9. Thirteen Reasons Why Analysis Preserving Intellectual Freedom The American Library Association states that the most challenged and restricted reading material have been children books. However, challenges are not merely an expression of a point of view; on the contrary, it is an attempt to remove materials from public use, thus restricting the access to others. Even if the motivation to ban or challenge a book is well intended, the outcome is unfair for everyone else. Censorship denies our freedom as individuals to choose and think for ourselves. For children, decisions about what books to read should only be made by the people who know them best their parents! (Letter to the Editor). I strongly disagree when people want books banned based on their own opinion of the book. The novel in question, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, is no exception to frequent challenges. ... Parents should understand that they have a right to decide what their child reads, but they should not take away that same right from other parents. Books serve as opportunities for students to think, theorize, question, and explore those topics in a controlled environment directed by teachers, parents, and experts and even though the book contains some sensitive material the lessons learned are far superior to the controversial material presented in Thirteen Reasons Why. Great lessons are not just learned in real life; we can learn them in books as well. • 11. Emotions InSympathy, By Paul Laurence Dunbar Emotions are constantly building up inside of you. Some may be feelings of joy or pleasure, while others are emotions of sadness, pain or frustration. Typically, we relieve our emotions through writing, by talking to therapists, possibly doing yoga, or even sleeping. Well, back in 1800s, most slaves didn t have the luxury to learn how to read or write. They were whipped for sleeping, as they worked most hours of the day and they definitely didn t have any therapists to talk to. This made the slaves release their emotions in more unconventional ways, such as singing. This is described in the poem Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar, which is about the imprisonment of the life of a slave and excerpt from Narrative (pages 8 9) by Frederick Douglass, a personal insight to Douglass horrid life as a slave. Both texts convey the central idea that during times of sorrow, slaves would sing to release their pain and misery. These songs they sung were not songs of joy. Sympathy by Paul Laurence Dunbar depicts the idea of slaves singing for their sorrow and releasing their emotions by using an extended metaphor which carries the entire poem. The caged bird, referenced throughout the entire poem, are the slaves. Trapped up with no escape, not able to break free. The metaphor of the caged bird to represent the slaves in this poem truly carries the piece and depicts the imprisonment of slavery. The latter does not explain why monarchs stay in Southern Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999). Three different things are endangering the monarch butterfly. • 18. The Core Elements Of The Registered Pension Plan Individual Pension Plan Background As a baseline to understanding an IPP, it is critical to establish some of the core elements of the registered pension plan (RPP) regime. AN IPP is essentially a defined benefit pension plan (DB) setup by an employer with a limited number of designated beneficiaries (e.g. directors and officers) or possibly, a single beneficiary (owner manager). It requires registration with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with ongoing maintenance and compliance in accordance with the Act. Failure to comply with rules set forth in the ITA could result in revocation or deregistration, which consequently could lead to unfavorable tax consequences. The plan must be sponsored and funded by a corporation with funding possibly also coming from employees. In general, DB plans offer employees specific future pension benefits upon retirement, typically calculated on the basis of a percentage of their employment income over their service period. IPP subscribers have additional confidence in knowing that their post employment benefits will be fixed in value each year which eliminates the uncertainty and concerns raised with retirement investments premised on the performance of capital markets. Pension plans are in the purview of either provincial or federal legislation; however, the scope of this discussion is confined to the Act. Perhaps the most attractive feature of an IPP is that for the right individual(s), it is a more effective tax planning vehicle by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the State of California are facing more severe air pollutant problem than most of other state, they choose to adopt its own emission regulations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) establish engine and vehicle emission regulations that are often more stringent than the federal rules. Other states can make their own decision to either implement the federal emission standards or to use California requirements. The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the Global Market Place The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world that are not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Web and its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009). In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). The explanation that links these two together is dissociation, which allows parents who are abusers to remain distant from and minimize sympathy toward their victims. Additionally, there is a higher rate of dissociation disorders among intimate partner violence survivors and perpetrators. The objective of the study performed by Webermann, Brand, and Chasson in 2004 was to see how prevalent intimate partner violence is among those who commit childhood maltreatment. To gather this data, dissociative disorder clinicians reported on the rates of childhood maltreatment and intimate partner violence from 275 patients and assessed the associations between childhood maltreatment and partner violence. The results showed that there was a correlation between the two factors and that physical abuse was associated with physical spouse violence, while neglect was associated with emotional spouse violence (Webermann, Brand, Chasson, 2014). • 31. Bolshevik And Menshevik Party Essay Angered by the current status of the political system, the working class in early 20th century Russia was ready to fight for a change. The Bolshevik party, a branch of the Russian Social Democratic Worker s Party (RSDWP) led by Vladimir I. Lenin, rose to power through a series of revolutions, fighting for a societal evolution that would lead a once capitalist Russia into a communistic political powerhouse. Two parties represented the left wing of the RDSWP, both wanting similar changes. Both the Menshevik and Bolshevik parties desired a socialist society, though their approaches to change the capitalistic society differed. The Menshevik party believed in a wide appeal; they thought that their strength was in their numbers. Contrarily, the Bolsheviks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By World War 1, the Bolshevik party was the only political party in Russia to fight vocally to end the war, insisting that it was dividing the working class and leading them to death. Due to this vocalization, the leaders of the movement were arrested; Lenin had escaped from the arrests and moved to Switzerland, leaving behind a small core group who supported the movement. On April 4, 1917, Lenin returned to Russia to give his April Thesis to Social Democratic Parties. He pushed a new program, stating that it was time to start a socialist society before a bourgeois government was permanent. Moreover, he established a tactical program to stir a revolution for a proletariat. Their slogan, Peace, Land and Bread, highlighted the three areas the party believed were necessary for success, of which to current government was failing to excel at. Particularly, the provisional government lacked an agrarian program, left urban populations starving to help the war, and they, according to Lenin, were in need of a new offensive. Lenin emphasized most that all power should be left with the soviets. As a result, on October 24 25, 1917, Lenin and the Bolshevik party led Russian workers and peasants to overthrow the Provisional government and set up a soviet government. The revolution resulted in peace on all fronts, and enabled the party to take over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. A Research Study On Nhs Pendulum Lab Youssef Elseifi Mr. Dickson Honors Integrated Science 1 Row 2 Period 4 10/3/16 NHS Pendulum Lab Our objective in this science project was to make a pendulum ride for Northwood High School that could be securely utilized by students. We needed to make a ride, with a time of precisely 1.5 seconds, which will give a ride that is not too quick, not too slow, but just right (Northwood Land Article 1). The ride couldn t be higher than 75 cm, it couldn t make an angle more prominent than 45 degrees, and distinctive quantities of individuals could be on the ride at once so we should have been ready to have diverse weights that still support with the well being capabilities. Our three hypotheses for this undertaking were that expanding the quantity of individuals will make the ride go slower, expanding the edge will build the period time, and ultimately, an expanded string length will expand the period time. With a specific end goal to test our speculation and achieve the 1.5 period time, we needed to figure out how to test every variable. We chose to consolidate the components of weight, angle, and string length to discover which mix of the three would make a period time of 1.5 seconds while in the meantime, attempt to demonstrate or refute our hypothesis. Altogether, we needed to make three information tables. To gather our information, we set up a pendulum and raised its height to 70 cm. In the wake of doing this we joined the string to the highest point of the pendulum and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare manipulates the story line and its characters by using disguises and trickery. The main plot of this story revolves around disguise. Viola, the main character, disguises herself as Cesario. She decides to disguise herself in order to gain entrance into the Duke Orsino s house.
