INTRODUCTION
This logistic report analyzes Schlumberger Ltd. performance as one of the leading oilfield services
provider. This report also outlines Schlumberger main activities, financial status, operations and
processes. It will also describe why this is an important company for a logistic class.

Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil services
are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and
assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may also be where
the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s closest competitors are
Halliburton and Baker Hughes.
I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the
world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to
clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are
in the oil chain.
I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these
companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent
learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for
its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers.
Weaknesses
Schlumberger has spread its service operations in a variety of ways. However, the company could be
falling in its core company activity. Some critics are actually focused in the operation the company has
in the geo seismic area. To attend this sector in 2003 the company bought the

Qing Dynasty Bureaucracy
The Legal Bureaucracy of the Qing Dynasty
The Qing emperors, like other Chinese emperors, always faced challenges from the bureaucracy.
While Qing emperors must rely on bureaucracy to rule, they intended to maintain their position over
the bureaucratic institutions. In addition to the challenge from the bureaucracy, the Manchu ruling as a
minority further complicated the situation of Qing rule. On the one side, the Qing must adopt the
Chinese bureaucratic system from the former Ming dynasty. On the other, the court tried to maintain
Manchu ethnic identity throughout. The Qing dynasty created a unique form of legal courts which
combined the previous Ming and other dynasties with Manchu identity and rules. This new form of
judicial organization imposed new rules and created a web like organized structure, all of ... Show

In order to centralize power and remove the threat posed by Manchu nobility, the Qing emperor
gradually integrated the nobility into the bureaucracy by removing the Manchu lords political power.
Struggles created from the consolidation of the emperor s power continued until the end of the
imperial rule in China.
Under a web like structure, the judicial procedure was very different from that in the provinces. Both
legal identity of the parties involved with a cases and the nature of the case (e.g. as a land case)
determined its judicial procedure. The Yamen of the Commander general of Metropolitan Infantry, the
Five Wards, the Imperial Household Department, and the Eight Banners directly accepted cases to
judge. These institutions were at the first level of the judicial system. Just like departments and
provinces, they could settle minor cases. Among institutions, only the Five Wards and the

Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover
Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover
The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the nursing workforce
has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and nurse turnover (Gates Jones, 2007).
The paper below discusses the issues of nursing shortage and nurse turnover. The paper also describes
how leaders as well as managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can resolve those problems
effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader, and theories of leadership
and management.
There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and turnover. Apparently
the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of nurses that are getting older without
adequate replacement, there are fewer than expected faculties dedicated to nursing, there are more
career fields opening up particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead of nursing,
federal government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally unpleasant
working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an overstretched hence
overworked nursing staff. According to Paller (2012), the nursing shortage in different countries for
example the United States tends not to be the only growing problem, but has also become a complex
one. Nursing shortage and nurse s turnover has become the worsening predicament in the health care
industry in the United

Children With Aggression During The United States
Children with aggression in the united states has played a big part in the world today. It has caused a
great number of kids to grow up with bad habits and wrong doings. Growing up young with
aggression can turn into a pattern that have been created over a long time period (Lehman1).Its first
start off with simple aggressive act, then it leads to bigger problems. Also the aggression in a child can
rub off his or her peers. Which also can lead to a larger group of kids growing up with the wrong set of
mind. The youth is the future and knowing that most children are growing up with aggression is a very
scary sight of the others. With more children growing up with aggression will cause a higher death
rate and the jail count going up. Children shows different types of aggression in many ways
mentally, physically, and socially. The aggression can cause children to have an different type of mood
swing than others that does not have aggression. It mostly has a after impact of growing up with
mental health of 20230 of children from the middle ages from 2 to 17 in USA(Tuner2).All the
aggression in the children causes them to have heart attack and blood pressure at a young age. The
mental can come from a different aspect, such as abusing there own bodies with drugs(7). When
children become an angry aggressive person they need help to control their actions around their peers.

Essay On White Privilege
The central argument expressed by Marcus is that white privilege is not a result of a political agenda
as was previously stated by Tim Wise, but rather a psychological one. He goes on to say that because
the issue is not based on policy, the government cannot legislate it. He explained that, almost all
scientific evidence produced to describe the nature of any individual based on race is bunk also adding
that, only when everyone views snap judgments about individuals based on race as the absurd
equivalent of such judgments based on hair or eye color, will the great moral victory over bigotry be
won (Marcus). I agree with the author that white privilege is spread by individuals and not based on
policy. However, I disagree that white privilege ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of white privilege is important because some white people deny it s existence.
According to Peggy McIntosh it is an invisible package of unearned assets, which I (Peggy McIntosh)
can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious. White privilege is
like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions maps, passports, code books, visas, clothes,
tools, and blank checks (McIntosh, 1988). Often times, white people sees the benefits of white
privilege as those belonging to the elites, celebrities and politicians but not to the regular working
class white Americans. When in fact this privilege is bestowed upon every white person regardless of
whether or not they choose to take advantage of it. Not to say that all white people are born with silver
spoons in their mouths or that they get everything handed to them on a silver platter. The issue here is
that white people enjoy certain privileges that minorities should but do not. For example, a white
person does not have to worry about getting pulled over by the police while driving a luxury car and
be asked to prove ownership because of the color of their skin. They do not worry about being
followed by security while they shop for fear they might steal something. They do not have to deal
companies refusing to hire them or housing discrimination. There s a saying that one can not see the
picture if he or she is in the

Love in the Time of Cholera
Love Conquers All
There are many themes that can be identified throughout the book, Love in the Time of Cholera. Love,
as stated in the title, is one of the most important themes within the book. Love is channeled through
all of the characters such as; Fermina Daza and Dr. Urbino, Florentino and all of his many affairs with
different women, Dr. Urbino and his affair with Barbara Lynch, and most importantly the most
powerful love throughout the book is the love between Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza.
Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza s love started at a very young age, when they were just teenagers.

He even wrote his own book titled, Lover s Companion. He became a ghost writer of love letters. In
the book it says, He had so much love left over inside that he did not know what to do with it, and he
offered it to unlettered lovers free of charge, writing their love missives for them in the Arcade of
Scribes (Garcia Marquez 171). He eventually became swamped with letters where he wrote only about
Fermina Daza without his clients ever knowing his sole purpose to writing the letters and having so
much emotion behind it.
The older Florentino gets the more he starts to realize that he is wasting his life. In the book it says,
But that night he saw for the first time in a conscious way how Fermina Daza s life was passing and
how his was passing, while he did nothing more than wait (Garcia Marquez 199). This is the first time
in the novel that he realizes he is wasting his time. Florentino s life revolved around Fermina and due
to his love for her whenever he was nostalgic his memories goes to her, but whenever she is nostalgic
her memories do not go to him.
Once Dr. Urbino dies Fermina is heartbroken but eventually realizes that her most of her life was
defined by being his wife and after he is dead she starts to gain some independence. In her final years
she will learn to be her own person and become independent. In the book she portrays this when it

Imagine that there is a disease that is terrible and causes trouble for you every day, there is no cure,
there is only the dragging on of day after day. This is Tay Sachs Disease, it is a disease that is lifelong,
that is, unless it kills you early on in life. This disease has lots of symptoms. These symptoms are a
result of how the disease affects the brain and its functionality. This disease is an inherited disease,
and is known as a serious genetic disease.( Health and Wellness Resource center and Alternative

so serious and normally result in the death of the person that has this disease. The person doesn t

this disease. 1 in 3600 Jewish infants are born with Tay Sachs disease. ( Student Resources in Context

The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills
I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my
current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order
to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views.
This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the
person s body language and tone of voice.
An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing
at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often
do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial
expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves
constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and
needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer
relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company.
Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other
people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . I use first names
where appropriate, this helps to build a relationship with the person I am talking to, making them my
equal. Effective communication involves good eye contact, I make and maintain eye

Fashion Trends In The 1920s
After centuries of reliance on Paris fashion, the 1900s launched the new era that enabled Americans to
break free from outer dependences and to set their own trends in fashion. Right from the dawn of the
new century Americans made a bold move throughout the entire 20th century that marked
revolutionary transformation from the formality of constrictive fashions to casual simplicity we enjoy
today.
Such a remarkable shift would not be possible without huge effect Hollywood had made on fashion
industry. The 1930s marked the rise of American fashion designers who became recognizable over the
course of the decade. Given tremendous impact of Hollywood, the US fashion industry blossomed for
the decades ahead. After World War II, Americans witnessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After the flourishing 1920s, the new decade made the clothing trends more streamlined. Still, famous
Paris designers (Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet among others), wealthy
socialites, and Hollywood actors (Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper) took the lead in determining the
most popular fashion designs. However, over the decade of the Great Depression lasting from 1929
until 1941, most people could not benefit from the new styles and bold fashion experiments
introduced by the wealthy. Nonetheless, even in those realities people managed to benefit from several
trends and enjoy the new fashions. Most often, under harsh circumstances, ordinary people came up
with their own clothes that required less fabric and were less costly. The adverse economic effects
provoked the launch of the advanced ready to wear clothing industry across the United States capable
of producing and selling a wide range of affordable clothes of various styles and sizes. Given growing
demand, the manufacturers imitated the latest Paris fashions with cheap copies. Rayon and cotton
were the cheap fabrics that enabled the supply of new clothing lines (Scheips 2007).
With the beginning of the World War II in 1939, people have reconsidered their dressing patterns.
Naturally, the clothes became more rational and limited in design. The Nazi occupation of Paris
dramatically shifted the trends in the western fashion

How Did Eli Whitney Affect The Economy
Eli Whitney was one of the greatest American inventors during at his time. Between 1793 and around
1800 Eli Whitney played an important role during the Market Revolution when he invented the Cotton
Gin, which changed the manufacturing of cottons, and the Interchangeable part machines that helped
the making of gun parts and luxury items that were easy to produce. Each of his inventions played a
very large role in people s lives for the North and the South. The inventions definitely changed the
manufacturing of cotton and the making of gun parts which revolutionized the United States. The
Cotton Gin impacted the economy conditions both social and economic; as he fights for his legal
rights for his invention, which led him to his invention of the Interchangeable part machines, and

make huge profits. The plan was to charge farmers with two fifth of whatever profits they could make.
For farmers, the idea was exciting when they learned about the Cotton Gin and the intention not to

Mao Zedong Of The Soviet Union
Throughout the course of China s vast history, there is not a more controversial, internationally
criticized and locally praised ruler than that of Chairman Mao Zedong. When Chairman Mao took
control of the Chinese government as leader of the newly established Communist Party, he was most
notably commended for helping unite China after years of civil war. After the previous regime left the
country nearly bankrupt, Mao faced the challenge of rebuilding China s economy, and he believed that
it could only be accomplished through true Communism, modeled after the Soviet Union. Mao s
vision was highly approved by the people initially as it reinvented the working class and gave more

In fact, nearly half of the arable land in China was divided amongst peasants. Still, Chairman Mao was
concerned with establishing the country as an international competitor and needed to drastically
increase the industrialization of China, which in turn required a massive increase in production from
the agricultural industry. Thus, in 1953, Chairman Mao encouraged peasant farmers to begin
cooperatively farming in which a few families from the same village pooled together their resources to
have a larger operation. China s reinvented production system enabled peasants to produce larger
harvests, which allowed these cooperatives to become more diversified operations that could now
raise livestock or non grain crops. Because the peasants were able to share their knowledge, tools,
machinery, and the workload, this method of farming proved to be highly successful. Unfortunately,
this type of production agriculture did not last long. Just a few years later, Chairman Mao began to
completely socialize the agricultural system to where it was no longer the people s land but practically
the government s entirely. China established the collectivization process or the commune system in
which people gave up all their animals and tools, and were required to send a large majority of the
grain they produced to the government. The

The result of this sudden displacement was feelings of loneliness and isolation. She attempted to
remedy the resulting emotional traumas through alcohol use. Alcohol acted to replace the feeling of
integration she had lost after going through the break up. Instead of using alcohol to enhance positive
experiences with her friends, she began to drink alone and drink heavily. It was this dependency on
alcohol as a source of happiness and the resulting erratic behaviors that were viewed as problematic
by Sophia and her other roommates. Animals in nature can have a similar response to dislocation or
emotional suffering. In Johann Hari s book Chasing the Scream he is able to describe a situation with
a mongoose that parallels Sophia s roommate s negative emotional state: The tropical storm in Hawaii
had reduced the mongoose s home to a mess of mud, and lying there, amid the dirt and the water, was
the mongoose s mate dead...The mongoose found the corpse, and it made a decision: it wanted to get

morning glory in the pen. The mongooses had all tried it, but they didn t seem to like it: they stumbled

grief the mongoose began to chew. Before long, it had tuned in and dropped

Regenerative Medicine
Though great progress has been made in medicine, current evidence based and palliative treatments
are increasingly unable to keep pace with patients needs, especially given our aging population. There
are few effective ways to treat the root causes of many diseases, injuries and congenital conditions. In
many cases, clinicians can only manage patients symptoms using medications or devices.
Regenerative medicine is a game changing area of medicine with the potential to fully heal damaged
tissues and organs, offering solutions and hope for people who have conditions that today are beyond
repair. Regenerative medicine itself isn t new the first bone marrow and solid organ transplants were
done decades ago. But advances in developmental and cell biology, immunology, and other fields have
unlocked new opportunities to refine existing regenerative therapies and develop novel ones.

Rank Structure Essay
The Importance of Rank Structure in the Marine Corps Rank structure is important to the Marine
Corps because it form one of the fundamental backbones of military service. Many believe that with
rank structure the Marine Corps or any other military organization could not function. This is has been
proven fact over the centuries by the countless of mob armies that has arisen in history of the fall apart
because they had no clear leadership. One of the ways that rank structure is important is that it is like a
link of chains. This chain forms a link between the highest officer to the lowest of the enlisted. This
chain allows for the anywhere in the chain of command for an order to be issued and it will go down
the chain to the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any
time a commander can find out the condition of his troops. And this of course is something that every
commander especially if the commander is going in to a wartime environment would like to know
what strength he is has. Rank structure is vital to the Marine Corps or any military organization
because rank structure is the basis of where all discipline in the ranks comes from. Without a rank
structure know one would know who is in charge of who and everyone would start to trying to take
charge in their own way cause confusion and disorder through the ranks. Also without rank structure,
when rules or orders are broken in a military organization it is up to the superior of that person to
discipline that person, no one would know who was supposed to merit the discipline or who is
supposed to carry out the discipline thus cause more chaos and anarchy. Therefore in conclusion we
see that without rank structure, military organization such as the Marine Corps could not function.
Without rank structure the Marine Corps would be in disorder and disarray, because it would have no
idea who was in charge and who was suppose to be the foot soldiers. Therefore maintaining proper
rank structure is the responsibility of the highest ranking officer to the lowest ranking private in boot

The Stone Angel and Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The Ancient Mariner is at a wedding and starts to tell a story to the Wedding Guest. The Mariner was
in a ship sailing towards the south pole. All of a sudden the ship was driven by a storm. It started to
snow and the ship appeared to be in an ice land where no living thing was found. Out of the fog an
Albatross (a sea bird) came and was received with great joy and hospitality by the ship mates. It was a
sign of life. The ice split and the boat sailed off. The bird followed them day and night until the
Ancient Mariner killed it. The ship mates were angry that the Mariner killed the bird because they
thought it was good luck. The Mariner justified the murder by saying it was not good luck and that the
bird was the one who brought the fog. The fog cleared and the men agreed with the Mariner therefore
making them accomplices to the crime. The boat sailed into the Pacific Ocean and all of a sudden the
breeze dropped and everything grew silent and still. The Albatross began to avenge; its spirit had
followed them. The ship mates put all the blame on the Mariner and for a punishment they hung the
dead bird around the Mariner s neck. The Ancient Mariner saw a sign afar. As it neared he thought it
was a ship, but to his dismay he realized that it couldn t be because it was sailing in a straight line (it

Fritz Lang M Film Techniques
The film M by Fritz Lang (1931) is a timeless masterpiece that not only reflects the fear and distrust
present in German society after WWI, but also uses sound in ways it had never been used befor. M
was made during a time of paranoia in Germany, set against the backdrop of a rapidly deteriorating
Weimar Republic. The country was in the midst of heightened poverty due to unemployment and
increasing criminal activity after the stock market crash of 1929. It was also a time where
psychopathic serial killers were at large in German cities. In the film, the panic felt by the
townspeople to try and catch the murderer, and the paranoia that it could be anyone among them, is
reflective of the fearful emotions felt by the German people during the early 1930s. The use of high
camera angles show the vulnerability and innocence of the children, the murderer s victims. The use of
shadows and reflections show that the murderer has two sides, and it is because of these two varying
characters that he can walk amongst society unknown for what he is. For example, when the
townspeople see a man telling a little girl what time it is, they immediately assume he must be the
murderer. Because of their paranoia, they jump to conclusions, ... Show more content on

that had not been done before. He used sound, and silence, to help shape the mood and tone of the
film, making the emotions and the message he was portraying that much more effective. By doing so,
Lang created a film that will remain as one of the greatest films of all

Essay about Lack of Vision in Carver s Cathedral
Lack of Vision in Cathedral
The narrator in Raymond Carver s Cathedral is not a particularly sensitive man. I might describe him
as self centered, superficial, and egotistical. And while his actions certainly speak to these points, it is
his misunderstanding of the people and the relationships presented to him in this story which show
most clearly his tragic flaw: while Robert is physically blind, it is the narrator who cannot clearly see
the world around him.
In the eyes of the narrator, Robert s blindness is his defining characteristic. The opening line of
Cathedral reads, This blind man, an old friend of my wife s, he was on his way to spend the night
(1052). Clearly, the narrator cannot see past Robert s disability; ... Show more content on

The narrator s naivete leaves him amazed by Robert, who does things which the narrator would view
as atypical of the blind. This reinforces the idea that the narrator is blind to the reality of the world.
The narrator s blindness is certainly not limited to Robert he no better understands the relationship
between his wife and the blind man:
They d become good friends, my wife and the blind man. . . . On her last day in the office, the blind
man asked if he could touch her face . . . .She told me he touched his fingers to every part of her face .
. . .She never forgot it. She even tried to write a poem about it . . . .She wrote a poem or two every
year, usually after something really important had happened to her. When we first started going out
together, she showed me the poem . . . I can remember I didn t think much of the poem . . . Maybe I
just don t understand poetry (Carver 1053).
While the narrator realizes that his wife s relationship with Robert is important to her, he cannot
understand why. Under other circumstances, the narrator s wife s descriptions of experiences that
summer and Robert s friendship and advice through her marriages might have left him enlightened as
to the depth of their relationship. But here, despite all evidence to the contrary, the narrator (ultimately
because of his prejudice) has ruled out Robert as a thoughtful, consequential person. He cannot
comprehend that a blind man is capable of touching

Sitting in the movie theater, I was baffled to see so many stereotypes touched on in one single film.
These stereotypes were not just any kind of stereotype they were those pertaining to Asians in
particular. The obviousness and sheer transparency of the stereotypes made the movie look like a

The majority of today s films starring Asian actors and actresses often contain numerous stereotypes.

From her roles in Charlie s Angels to this year s Kill Bill, Liu has become a veteran of the tough chick

audiences with their talents but audiences fail to realize that fictional portrayal is not always reality.
Ask any person of Asian descent and many will concur that at one point, someone has asked them: Do
you know kung fu?
The stereotypes do not end there. Other films tend to expose Asians as nerds and overachievers. An
example of this can be seen in Better Luck Tomorrow in which a group of young boys are all striving
to get the best grades possible, no matter how they are earned. Terminal USA includes the classic
computer nerd who is all brains and no life.
Another common stereotype is one strictly directed towards Asian women. The female character is
always one of two things. She is either the sexual dominatrix (the dragon lady ) or the innocent and
submissive young girl (the China doll ). More often than not, Asian women are portrayed as exotic,
mysterious, and overtly sexual. A perfect example of this can be seen in films like The World of Suzie
Wong.

Abstract:
At the current situation, Lean Manufacturing has turned into an overall marvel. It is entirely effective
in drawing the consideration of organizations of all sizes. An extensive number of organizations are
taking after Lean advancements and encountering unlimited upgrades in quality, production, customer
service etc. According to lean principles, any use of resources that does not deliver consumer value is
a target for change or elimination. It also refers to the elimination of non value adding/wastes. This
Lean approach has mainly been applied in manufacturing, notably in Toyota, and the Toyota
Production System, from where Lean originates in the early 1960 s but not to a complete extent.
However, lean has also been widely applied in non manufacturing areas. Lean Management , or rather
Lean production is considered to be a smart approach on a system of measures and methodologies.
Considering the aspects on a whole, the potential to bring the concept of Lean in various fields of

The First Years of the Peace Corps Essay

we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required, (Kennedy 2),
John F. Kennedy told an inspired crowd and an ambitious nation during his inaugural address on
January 20, 1961. The origins for his plan to establish a program to assist developing countries
originated about 4 months earlier during an early morning speech at the University of Michigan,

Nigeria. Nevertheless, the Peace Corps legacy was not forgotten, and in 1991, an interview with Bukar

in science by my former Peace Corps science teacher who had such a passion for space ( Nigerians

fostered their own successes ( Nigerians Speak Warmly... 1). Clearly, the efforts of the volunteers in
Nigeria helped make a positive difference in the people s lives. Countless numbers of other countries
benefited from these programs. In Morocco, volunteers were given various activities such as irrigation
projects to teaching physical education. In addition, the Peace Corps built libraries, taught English,
and founded Kindergartens in Iran from 1962 to 1976. The programs of the Peace Corps not only

Statistics for Decision Making

December 13, 2014
Statistics in Business In today s very competitive and global economic climate, it is ever more
important for businesses to have reliable data to predict and plan.
Definition of Statistics and Role in Decision Making Statistics are the collection, presentation and
interpretation of data. Statistics is a branch of mathematics and is a mathematical analysis of data or
observations. Statistics also provide tools to predict and forecast based on the data collected and is
applicable to not only businesses but to science, health and government (Stine Foster, 2014). The use

These are nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio. In the nominal level of measurement numerical values
name the attributes with no order. In the ordinal level of measurement that attributes can be ranked or
ordered but the distances between them do not have meaning. In the interval level there is meaning in
the distance between the attributes and this can be interpreted. Absolute zero or no number less than
zero is meaningful in ratio measurements in order to construct a ratio or fraction (Stine Foster, 2014).
Examples
I am considering selling my house and need some data to support the price. I will gather data about
homes that have sold within the last two years or are currently listed in my neighborhood such as their
list price, square footage, number of bedrooms, outdoor amenities such as a pool or kitchen, and, if
sold, how much and what was the variance between list price and actual sale price. The analysis of this
data will allow me to make an informed decision on what to list my home for and even what time of
year to list it. A restaurant owner is considering expansion. He will collect data on his occupancy rates
at various times of day, the wait times of customers before they are seated and served, conduct a
survey of his current customers, research his competitors, and conduct a financial analysis. These
statistics will enable him to make business decisions about how big his expansion should be, how

Transnational And Global Perspectives
The de facto home of the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),
Belgium offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse myself in Europe s rich history, understand its
contemporary struggles, and explore its multicultural identity. I propose study towards the Masters of
European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives (MAES) at KU Leuven. By studying
broader European diplomacy with the Middle East and Eurasia while also researching Belgian Islamic
multiculturalism, I will explore two primary questions. First, how can European conflicts be
effectively addressed through cooperation beyond the EU? Second, how has terrorism, radicalization,
and Islamophobia within Europe impacted Belgian Islamic identity? ... Show more content on

I am currently writing a thesis at the University of Pennsylvania considering European media s
conception and representation of terrorist attacks in Europe and the Middle East. Under Dr. Barbie
Zelizer, I am performing a quantitative and qualitative analysis of Western European coverage of both
the 2015 Paris Attack and Beirut Bombing to consider how Islamic terrorism is represented in the
press. At Leuven, I will continue researching European representations of Muslim communities. I will
investigate how modern narratives of Islamophobia, terrorism, and radicalization in Belgium, and
Europe as a whole, have impacted Belgian Islamic identity. To do this, I will perform a sociological
interview study, speaking with Muslim community leaders, Muslim focused NGO staff, and Middle
Eastern diplomats. I have secured a letter of affiliation from the Director of the MAES program, Dr.
Patrick Pasture, who has agreed to supervise my thesis as it fits into an interdisciplinary research
project he is pursuing. KU Leuven offers close proximity to Brussels supranational organizations that
will allow me to deeply engage with European political perspectives and a valuable international
student body. Leuven coordinates guest lectures with diplomats and NGO leaders, allowing me to
more practically understand broader European conflicts as they happen. Additionally, the

Summer Is Better Than Summer Essay
Just think of tanning in the sand on a beach and sipping a sweet drink. To some, that sounds like the
life. The summer season is by far better than the winter. Summer has so many more perks and positive
traits than Winter. Some find themselves even getting depressed in the Winter. Although, I do thank
mother nature for giving Summer. The summer season appears to be more appealing in not just the
weather category, but the foods and drinks! I believe that the summer s typical food and drink trends
are so much better. During the summertime most can find themselves enjoying light, cold, or grilled
foods. Unlike winter s casseroles and warm coffees, summertime gives pasta s, fruits, fresh
vegetables, ice cream and popsicles. Ice cold drinks will gives the feeling cooling off from the hot
temperatures. Sweet lemonade shake ups and sweet ice tea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Well of course they play sports. Which season gives one the most opportunities to be able to
participate in sports? That is Summer. Summer gives any one no matter the age nor the size
opportunities to be active in sports. One can find oneself participating in sports like, softball, baseball,
three on three street basketball, crossfit outdoor classes, running, fishing tournaments, and so many
more. Could one do everyone of these things in the Winter too? The temperatures that the Summer
season has to offer allows people to be able to be outside and be involved in the summer activities.
Because of the low and dangerous Winter temperatures, it is not safe for elders or adolescents to be
outside. That decreases the amount of sports and activities to be able to participate in. Because if one
is not inside, it typically can t take place. Based on our location we are not given many skiing and
hockey opportunities. This is about the only sport that can be done outside with snow. Positively, this
is just one of the many reasons I enjoy Summer so much more than

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil services are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may also be where the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s closest competitors are Halliburton and Baker Hughes. I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are in the oil chain. I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers. While Qing emperors must rely on bureaucracy to rule, they intended to maintain their position over the bureaucratic institutions. Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the nursing workforce has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and nurse turnover (Gates Jones, 2007). The paper below discusses the issues of nursing shortage and nurse turnover. The paper also describes how leaders as well as managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can resolve those problems effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader, and theories of leadership and management. There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and turnover. Apparently the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of nurses that are getting older without adequate replacement, there are fewer than expected faculties dedicated to nursing, there are more career fields opening up particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead of nursing, federal government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally unpleasant working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an overstretched hence overworked nursing staff. Essay On White Privilege The central argument expressed by Marcus is that white privilege is not a result of a political agenda as was previously stated by Tim Wise, but rather a psychological one. He goes on to say that because the issue is not based on policy, the government cannot legislate it. He explained that, almost all scientific evidence produced to describe the nature of any individual based on race is bunk also adding that, only when everyone views snap judgments about individuals based on race as the absurd equivalent of such judgments based on hair or eye color, will the great moral victory over bigotry be won (Marcus). The definition of white privilege is important because some white people deny it s existence. According to Peggy McIntosh it is an invisible package of unearned assets, which I (Peggy McIntosh) can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious. White privilege is like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions maps, passports, code books, visas, clothes, tools, and blank checks (McIntosh, 1988). Often times, white people sees the benefits of white privilege as those belonging to the elites, celebrities and politicians but not to the regular working class white Americans. When in fact this privilege is bestowed upon every white person regardless of whether or not they choose to take advantage of it. Not to say that all white people are born with silver spoons in their mouths or that they get everything handed to them on a silver platter. The issue here is that white people enjoy certain privileges that minorities should but do not. For example, a white person does not have to worry about getting pulled over by the police while driving a luxury car and be asked to prove ownership because of the color of their skin. • 14. The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views. This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the person s body language and tone of voice. An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company. Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . Thus, in 1953, Chairman Mao encouraged peasant farmers to begin cooperatively farming in which a few families from the same village pooled together their resources to have a larger operation. China s reinvented production system enabled peasants to produce larger harvests, which allowed these cooperatives to become more diversified operations that could now raise livestock or non grain crops. Because the peasants were able to share their knowledge, tools, machinery, and the workload, this method of farming proved to be highly successful. Many believe that with rank structure the Marine Corps or any other military organization could not function. This is has been proven fact over the centuries by the countless of mob armies that has arisen in history of the fall apart because they had no clear leadership. One of the ways that rank structure is important is that it is like a link of chains. This chain forms a link between the highest officer to the lowest of the enlisted. This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any time a commander can find out the condition of his troops. And this of course is something that every commander especially if the commander is going in to a wartime environment would like to know what strength he is has. Rank structure is vital to the Marine Corps or any military organization because rank structure is the basis of where all discipline in the ranks comes from. Without a rank structure know one would know who is in charge of who and everyone would start to trying to take charge in their own way cause confusion and disorder through the ranks. Also without rank structure, when rules or orders are broken in a military organization it is up to the superior of that person to discipline that person, no one would know who was supposed to merit the discipline or who is supposed to carry out the discipline thus cause more chaos and anarchy. Therefore in conclusion we see that without rank structure, military organization such as the Marine Corps could not function. Without rank structure the Marine Corps would be in disorder and disarray, because it would have no idea who was in charge and who was suppose to be the foot soldiers. Therefore maintaining proper rank structure is the responsibility of the highest ranking officer to the lowest ranking private in boot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stone Angel and Samuel Taylor Coleridge The Ancient Mariner is at a wedding and starts to tell a story to the Wedding Guest. The Mariner was in a ship sailing towards the south pole. All of a sudden the ship was driven by a storm. It started to snow and the ship appeared to be in an ice land where no living thing was found. Out of the fog an Albatross (a sea bird) came and was received with great joy and hospitality by the ship mates. It was a sign of life. The ice split and the boat sailed off. The bird followed them day and night until the Ancient Mariner killed it. The ship mates were angry that the Mariner killed the bird because they thought it was good luck. The Mariner justified the murder by saying it was not good luck and that the bird was the one who brought the fog. The fog cleared and the men agreed with the Mariner therefore making them accomplices to the crime. The boat sailed into the Pacific Ocean and all of a sudden the breeze dropped and everything grew silent and still. The Albatross began to avenge; its spirit had followed them. Fritz Lang M Film Techniques The film M by Fritz Lang (1931) is a timeless masterpiece that not only reflects the fear and distrust present in German society after WWI, but also uses sound in ways it had never been used befor. M was made during a time of paranoia in Germany, set against the backdrop of a rapidly deteriorating Weimar Republic. The country was in the midst of heightened poverty due to unemployment and increasing criminal activity after the stock market crash of 1929. It was also a time where psychopathic serial killers were at large in German cities. In the film, the panic felt by the townspeople to try and catch the murderer, and the paranoia that it could be anyone among them, is reflective of the fearful emotions felt by the German people during the early 1930s. The use of high camera angles show the vulnerability and innocence of the children, the murderer s victims. The use of shadows and reflections show that the murderer has two sides, and it is because of these two varying characters that he can walk amongst society unknown for what he is. For example, when the townspeople see a man telling a little girl what time it is, they immediately assume he must be the murderer. Because of their paranoia, they jump to conclusions, ... In the nominal level of measurement numerical values name the attributes with no order. In the ordinal level of measurement that attributes can be ranked or ordered but the distances between them do not have meaning. In the interval level there is meaning in the distance between the attributes and this can be interpreted. Examples I am considering selling my house and need some data to support the price. I will gather data about homes that have sold within the last two years or are currently listed in my neighborhood such as their list price, square footage, number of bedrooms, outdoor amenities such as a pool or kitchen, and, if sold, how much and what was the variance between list price and actual sale price. The analysis of this data will allow me to make an informed decision on what to list my home for and even what time of year to list it. A restaurant owner is considering expansion. I propose study towards the Masters of European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives (MAES) at KU Leuven. By studying broader European diplomacy with the Middle East and Eurasia while also researching Belgian Islamic multiculturalism, I will explore two primary questions. Second, how has terrorism, radicalization, and Islamophobia within Europe impacted Belgian Islamic identity? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am currently writing a thesis at the University of Pennsylvania considering European media s conception and representation of terrorist attacks in Europe and the Middle East. Under Dr. Barbie Zelizer, I am performing a quantitative and qualitative analysis of Western European coverage of both the 2015 Paris Attack and Beirut Bombing to consider how Islamic terrorism is represented in the press. At Leuven, I will continue researching European representations of Muslim communities. I will investigate how modern narratives of Islamophobia, terrorism, and radicalization in Belgium, and Europe as a whole, have impacted Belgian Islamic identity. To do this, I will perform a sociological interview study, speaking with Muslim community leaders, Muslim focused NGO staff, and Middle Eastern diplomats. I have secured a letter of affiliation from the Director of the MAES program, Dr. Patrick Pasture, who has agreed to supervise my thesis as it fits into an interdisciplinary research project he is pursuing. KU Leuven offers close proximity to Brussels supranational organizations that will allow me to deeply engage with European political perspectives and a valuable international student body. Leuven coordinates guest lectures with diplomats and NGO leaders, allowing me to more practically understand broader European conflicts as they happen. Additionally, the ... Although, I do thank mother nature for giving Summer. The summer season appears to be more appealing in not just the weather category, but the foods and drinks! I believe that the summer s typical food and drink trends are so much better. During the summertime most can find themselves enjoying light, cold, or grilled foods. Unlike winter s casseroles and warm coffees, summertime gives pasta s, fruits, fresh vegetables, ice cream and popsicles. Ice cold drinks will gives the feeling cooling off from the hot temperatures. One can find oneself participating in sports like, softball, baseball, three on three street basketball, crossfit outdoor classes, running, fishing tournaments, and so many more. Could one do everyone of these things in the Winter too? The temperatures that the Summer season has to offer allows people to be able to be outside and be involved in the summer activities. Because of the low and dangerous Winter temperatures, it is not safe for elders or adolescents to be outside. That decreases the amount of sports and activities to be able to participate in. Because if one is not inside, it typically can t take place. Based on our location we are not given many skiing and hockey opportunities. This is about the only sport that can be done outside with snow. Positively, this is just one of the many reasons I enjoy Summer so much more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
