All three countries took a hit to GDP growth in the 1970 s due to the oil price shocks and more
recently the global financial crisis has stunted growth in the past four to five years. Both Australia and
China were able to avoid falling into a recession but the United States was not so fortunate (see Figure
2). An article in The Economist from November 13th 2009 written by Joshua M Brown titled Secret
Sauce supports my findings of why China s GDP growth can be explained by their TFP growth.
Brown (2009) argues that China s rapid growth is not just due to heavy investment as is the common
claim, but to the fact they have the fastest productivity gains of any country in the world. The United
States has achieved small but steady TFP growth which translates into a similar smaller annual GDP
growth than that of China. Australia on the other hand has in the past 10 years experienced a
slowdown in TFP growth but it has seemed not to have affected total GDP growth too much. The
Australian government should be looking at implementing policies to stimulate TFP growth in the
future to replicate the China s rapid growth. The two main methods to achieve this are through
technology and efficiency. Government spending on research and development to further enhance
technology as well as the adoption of established foreign technology could aid

architectures, protocols, algorithms and applications have been proposed and implemented for energy
efficiency. The efficiency of these networks is highly dependent on routing protocols which directly
affecting the network life time. Cluster formation in sensor network is one of the most popular
technique for reducing the energy consumption and expand the lifetime of the sensor network. There
are various cluster formation techniques used in wireless sensor network. In which, Particle Swarm
Optimization (PSO) is simple and efficient optimization algorithm, which is used to form the energy
efficient clusters with optimal selection of cluster head. The comparison is made with the well known
cluster based protocols developed for WSN, LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)
and LEACH C as well as the traditional K means clustering algorithm. A comparative analysis shown
in the paper and come to the conclusion based on some parameters.

The Biomechanics Of The Racehorse
The Biomechanics of the Racehorse
Introduction
Horse s have developed into highly specialised locomotor machines. Modified themselves to travel
long distances at a moderate speeds and capability of shorter distances at higher speeds. The most
efficient running machine that has evolved with many structural adaptions for untiring rapid progress
on the ground so that they run long distances efficiently and changing of muscle size and grouping all
suggests locomotor adaption (Williams, 2013).
Selection is based on previous performance including race record; pedigree and phenotype to which
play an important role when evaluating racehorses with conformation which is subjective to opinion
or experience (McIlwrath, 2004). Foals in the racing industry are purchased through auction sales and
stud farms and are based on their conformation, way of going and pedigree although conformation
criteria differs from foal to 2 3 year old through musculoskeletal changeability. What has to be
considered is the sire or dam who have produced winning progeny and has made the most prize
money through races ran (O Mara, 2015).
Visual Conformation
Side View
To evaluate conformation and gait analysis, an example of a thoroughbred racehorse was examined to
show structure and balance; good conformation within perimeters; way of going through photographic
evidence to support gait analysis. The horse is a 6 year old, 15.3hh thoroughbred racehorse who has a
good pedigree, has won and placed in races on

Collapse of Lehman Brothers
Collapse of Lehman Brothers
Lehman Brothers was an investment bank that went back to the 1850s, surviving the Civil War, two
World Wars, the Great Depression and any other great misfortune that this 160 year old company s
history had gone bankrupt. Lehman brothers were an important part in the financial and commercial
industries in the United States. People may have thought that leverage was a bad thing; they should
have realized that a dry goods store turned into a huge investment bank then years later bringing
attention to the whole world. Lehman brothers began when an immigrate by the name Henry Lehman
came from Germany and settled in Montgomery, Alabama where he started a small shop selling
groceries, dry food and utensils to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On September 10, Lehman announced a gloomy fiscal third quarter of how they are financially. They
reported a loss of $3.9 billion, which had a write down of $5.6 billion, and announced a way to find a
strategic move to fix their business. Also on September 10 Lehman Brothers had to sell off Neuberger
Berman to raise capital. Lehman had no option but to file for bankruptcy. That same day, Moody s
Investor Service said, that they were going to review Lehman s credit ratings, and also said that
Lehman would have to sell a majority stake to a strategic partner in order to avoid a rating downgrade
. This progress led to a 42% plunge in the stock on September 11. Lehman only had $1 billion left in
cash by the end of that week; they were beginning to run out of time. The weekend of September 13
Lehman, Barclays PLC and Bank of America, aimed at assisting to takeover of Lehman, but ended up
to be unsuccessful. That Monday Lehman had to declare bankruptcy, ensuing in the stock to plummet
to 93% from its previous close on September 12.
Besides having problems with mortgage and credit problems most of Lehman s problems were
holding on to low credit tranches and holding way too long on to subprime mortgages. The second
quarter lost about $2.8 billion and they had to liquidate $6 billion in assets. Here is a

Essay on A Report On Schindlers List
A Report On Schindlers List
Thomas Keneally s Schindler s List is the historical account of Oskar Schindler and his heroic actions
in the midst of the horrors of World War II Poland. Schindler s List recounts the life of Oskar
Schindler, and how he comes to Poland in search of material wealth but leaves having saved the lives
of over 1100 Jews who would most certainly have perished. The novel focuses on how Schindler
comes to the realization that concentration and forced labor camps are wrong, and that many people
were dying through no fault of their own. This realization did not occur overnight, but gradually came
to be as the business man in Oskar Schindler turned into the savior of the Jews that had brought him
so much wealth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This turns out to be timely for Schindler as now he is able to get very cheap labor. The next few years
would go well for Schindler and his factory for they turned a great profit. In fact he made so much
money that he is quoted as saying, I ve made more money than I could possibly spend in a lifetime. ;
His workers were also very happy. This is because Schindler s Jews ; were treated as humans as
opposed to being treated as animals. For them, working in Schindler s factory was an escape from the
ghetto and from much German cruelty. They loved Schindler so much that his factory became known
as a haven throughout the Jewish community. However, things began to go sour for Schindler, when
the Germans ordered the liquidation of the ghettoes. Soon all of the Jews in the Cracow ghetto were
relocated to the Plaszow labor camp. By this time Schindler had grown so affectionate toward his
Jewish workers that he refused to hire Poles, and instead sought of a way to keep using the Jews that
he had grown so accustomed to. As the Cracow Jews were relocated to the Plaszow labor camp, Oskar
Schindler came into direct dealings with the camp s director, Amon Goeth. He did not like Amon, but
he tried to get in on his best side in order to keep using his Jews in his factory. Amon agreed to let
Schindler use them, and thus saving his Jews from some of the harshness of the Plaszow labor camp.

Dry Pasta
The purpose I present about this topic is to introduce and help everyone to gain further knowledge
about pasta. Although everyone know what is pasta, and eats pasta, but I am sure that anyone of us do
not know what the actual history of pasta is. Furthermore, I will also explain the benefits of pasta,
pasta shapes, recommendation of sauces for different types of pasta, and the basic way of cooking
pasta.
Pasta is an Italian food made from dough using flour, water and eggs. When talking about the origin of
pasta, a distinction needs to be made between fresh and dry pasta. Fresh pasta is dough made of flour
and water and is present in most cultures and on all continents. Dry pasta began in Italy and embarked
from there to conquer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pasta has evolved, over its history, into a great number of shapes and varieties. The names of some of
the shapes vary according to area, and sometimes the same name applies in different areas to different
shapes.
A few examples include: Spaghetti is long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin. Macaroni is a kind
of moderately extended, machine made dry pasta. Much shorter than spaghetti, and hollow, macaroni
does not contain eggs. Fusilli, a spiral shaped pasta, also called corkscrew pasta, is usually about four
centimeters long. Fusilli is almost identical to another shaped pasta called rotini. They both have a
spiral shape, but rotini is slightly larger, thicker and curlier. Lasanum is a form of pasta in sheets,
made with alternate layers of pasta, cheese, and meat sauce or tomato sauce.
When making delicious pasta dishes, be sure to choose a pasta shape and sauce that complement each
other.
For example, delicate pasta like angel hair or thin spaghetti should be served with light, thin sauces.
Thicker pasta shapes, like fettuccine, work well with heavier sauces. Pasta shapes with holes or ridges
like mostaccioli or radiatore are perfect for chunkier sauces.
Pasta, by itself, is a nutritious food, an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, an important
contributor of protein, B vitamins, and iron. It contains almost no fat, cholesterol, or sodium good
nutrition in just 210

Xbox 360 Supply Chain Case Study
Global Supply Chain Design
Case Study
Evolution of the Xbox Supply Chain
2012
Evolution of the Xbox Supply Chain
1.) What supply chain changes did Microsoft make between the Xbox and the Xbox 360? What was
the motivation for these changes? When Microsoft first entered the market with the release of the
Xbox in 2001 it was a newcomer in the console business. The company had neither an established
brand presence in this area, nor did it have a developed base of games and gamers in the market, such
as Sony. Therefore, the primary purpose of introducing the Xbox was to establish Microsoft in the
market, to develop a brand presence, gain acceptance among gamers and to prepare the way for future
products. Therefore, Microsoft s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when Microsoft started the development of its next generation console the Xbox 360 it
recognized the deficits and problems related to its initial strategy: the company was operating under
too high costs in order to assure high product availability which was not the critical factor in this
business. The nature of the console business is about providing the customer with a cheap hardware
and a variety of games, in order to generate profits from games sales. Additionally, the first Xbox was
released one year behind Sony s PS2, Microsoft s biggest competitor in the market. This delay
resulted in a substantial loss of sales and consequently reduced game sales. Therefore, Microsoft
learned that the Xbox 360 had to be launched ahead of Sony s PS3. Accordingly, one relevant part of
Microsoft s new strategy was the first to market approach. Another essential change in Microsoft s
business strategy concerned its cost structure in the Xbox supply chain. Whereas the initial strategy
focused heavily on reliability, Microsoft changed its strategy to achieving reduced costs and increased
profitability. Additionally, the company insisted on owning the design of critical components, such as
the microprocessor and the graphics chip, in order to control its own destiny . Therefore, the supply
chain network needed to be redesigned in order to support Microsoft s strategic shift. So as to reach
the desired cost

The Context And Theory Of Corporate Governance
01 The context and theory of corporate governance 1.1 The meaning and purpose of corporate
governance Corporate governance broadly refers to the mechanisms, processes and relations by which
corporations are controlled and directed. Corporate governance has also been more narrowly defined
as a system of law and sound approaches by which corporations are directed and controlled focusing
on the internal and external corporate structures with the intention of monitoring the actions of
management and directors and thereby, mitigating agency risks which may stem from the misdeeds of
corporate officers. Governance structures and principles identify the distribution of rights and

1.3 The development of corporate governance and corporate governance theory Corporate governance
is a relatively new area and its development has been affected by theories from a number of
disciplines, including finance, economics, accounting, law, management, and organisational behavior.
Agency theory has probably affected the development of the corporate governance framework the
most. Agency theory identifies the agency relationship where one party, the principal, delegates work
to another party, the agent. In the context of a corporation, the owners are the principal and the
directors are the agent. In addition, there are other theories that have affected the development of
corporate governance, which include: transaction costs economics, stakeholder theory, and
stewardship theory. The development of corporate governance is a global occurrence and, as such, is a
complex area including legal, cultural, ownership, and other structural differences. Therefore, some
theories may be more appropriate and relevant to some countries than others. 1.4 Theories of
corporate governance There are a range of theories in corporate governance, such theories address the
cause and effect of variables.  Agency Identifies the agency relationship where one party, the

Kuratko and Norman]. Gierlasinski (Revised) HISTORY Stanley Walsh began Inner City Paint
Corporation in a run down warehouse, which he rented, on the fringe of Chicago s downtown business
area. The company is still 10cated at its original site. Inner City is a small company that manufactures
wall paint. It does not compete with giants such as Glidden and DuPont. There are small paint
manufacturers in Chicago that supply the immediate area. The proliferation of paint manufacturers is
due to the fact that the weight of the product (52 12 pounds per 5 gallon container) makes the cost of

Color overruns are tapped off into 2 gallon containers. Inventory records are not kept. The warehouse
manager keeps a mental count of what is in stock. He documents (on a lined yellow pad) what has
been shipped for the day and to whom. That list is given to the billing clerk at the end of each day. The
cost of the materials to produce flat white paint is $2.40 per gallon. The cost per gallon for colors is
approximately 40% 50% higher. The 5 gallon covered plastic pails cost Inner City $1.72 each. The 55
gallon drums (with lids) are $8.35 each. (see Exhibit 1). Selling price varies with the quantity
purchased. To the average customer, flat white sells at $27.45 for 5 gallons and $182.75 for 55
gallons. Colors vary in selling price because of the variety in pigment cost and quantity ordered.
Customers purchase on credit and usually pay their invoices in 30 to 60 days. Inner City telephones
the customer after 60 days of nonpayment and inquires when payment will be made.
MANAGEMENT The President and majority stockholder is Stanley Walsh. He began his career as a
house painter and advanced to become a painter for a large decorating company. Walsh painted mostly
walls in large commercial buildings and hospitals. Eventually, he came to believe that he could
produce a paint that was less expensive and of higher quality than what was being used. A keen desire
to open his own business resulted in the creation of Inner City Paint Corporation.

Intellectual Properties And Intellectual Property
What is intellectual property? What do you think of when you hear intellectual property? Can an idea
or invention that exist in your mind be considered property? Yes, it can. Intellectual property is an
invention or an idea that gives a person the exclusive rights to a product or a process. There are many
types of intellectual properties like inventions, discoveries, artwork, and writings. Intellectual property
can be stolen; someone can misuse it without permission. Violation of intellectual property rights, also
called infringements, can result in a lawsuit or a fine, depending on the type of intellectual property
involved. Intellectual property is protected by copyright laws, patents and trademarks. There are steps
that can be taken to protect one s property. Intellectual property s value is not based on physical
properties, instead, intellectual property is valuable because it holds ownership and exclusive rights to
use, sell, and promote a creation or idea. The history of intellectual property dates back to 500 B.C.
when a chef in the Greek colony of Sybaris were granted monopolies for creating culinary delights.
There are three basic areas of intellectual property, patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
One form of intellectual property is patents. A patent gives an inventor the rights to his or her
invention. It prevents others from using the product without permission. From a legal stand point, a
patent excludes others from selling, using or profiting from a product

Community Policing Research Paper
Different officers may have different ways to contribute to partnerships. For example, patrol officers
have a unique position to help monitor and supervise supervisees (Parent and Snyder, 1999).
Patrolling gives officers access to the supervisee and their social networks which can help provide
knowledge of their activity (La Vigne, N. G., Solomon, A. L., Beckman, K. A., Dedel, K., Center, J. P.,
2006), this can be very valuable especially in cases which community corrections officers are mostly
in their office and not in the field (Thornton et al. 2006). This can help with intervening before
recidivism occurs due to being able to foresee issues that the supervisee may be having. This may help
law enforcement officers prevent certain crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way that partnerships help with public safety is that sharing information and resources can help
track down those supervisees with outstanding warrants, absconders, and can share intelligence
gathered about new crimes (Murphy, 2005). Community corrections officers can also help inform law
enforcement about specific supervisees personal issues such as drug addiction, mental health
problems, and more that can help law enforcement be more understanding and helpful to allow for
alternatives other than arresting an individual. When agencies perceive that there is more of a benefit
than a cost to partnerships they are more likely to join and participate in a collaboration (Rosenbaum,
2002). Partnerships have also been motivated by financial incentives by federal grants (Taxman et al.,

What It Means To Be A Citizen
What does it mean to be a citizen? To the ancient Greeks, a private uninformed person was not
considered complete, and they were referred to as an idiōtēs (Ginsberg et al. 9). Part of the reason why
political opinions vary so far from person to person is in part due to the amount of political knowledge
that each individual has. A person who stays informed on current political events weekly by reading
newspaper articles will be able to understand our current government structure better than someone
who hears about political information from other people s opinions. Valuable questions are whether or
not American politics are in crisis, how this applies to California heavily influenced by its citizens and

The budget is certainly the most important crisis for the United States next to citizen distrust for
government. The United States is currently 19 trillion dollars in debt, and that number keeps rising. In
that regards, pork barrel politics receives a lot of scrutiny. One of the most important things for people
in political careers usually comes down to reelection time despite the incumbency advantage and
many turn to earmarks in pork barrel politics to show that they can receive Federal funds for their
constituents directly. The scrutiny is that this can be a huge waste of resources that pushes the United
States further into debt, as seen in the proposed bridge in Alaska that would cost 2 billion dollars to
connect an island to a barely populated town (Ginsberg et at. 280). The current debt levels of United
States government beg the question of whether or not people will still have Social Security benefits
upon retirement or when the United States will lose its authority to continue borrowing money and
compounding debt. The decline in public political efficacy, our rising debt ceiling, and the seemingly
incompetent government due in part by clashing ideologies between Republicans and Democrats seem
to spell a crisis for the United States as a whole, but how does this differ for California? I believe that

extensive formality. Georgian entrepreneurs shake hands, both upon greeting and leaving, which
should usually be induced by those who are of higher status and important positions. In addition, they
are a relationship orientated culture, meaning that they concentrate on the people that are involved and
their feelings rather than concentrating on the task on hands or known facts. Georgians freely exert
emotions when communicating, be it excitement or disappointment, and have a propensity to look
from sensitive point of few when forwarding complex information (Goderdzishvili, N.). As Nikas
informed eye contact is usually maintained to both define the importance of message and express
trust. When in the business meetings, the guests are expected to introduce themselves giving full
background information and share their experiences.

Another unique interpretation of wine production in Georgia is passport to civilized world

America s Obsession With Weight Loss and Body Image
America s Obsession with Weight Loss and Body Image
Introduction
Concern with weight and body image is a widespread preoccupation for many Americans. In a study
of college students 74.4 percent of normal weight woman and 46 percent of normal weight men said
they thought about their weight or appearance all the time or frequently ( Body Image, 2012). Focus
on appearance is at an all time high in American culture increasing the potential for negative body
image. Poor body image increases the risk for extreme weight/body control behaviors. Researchers
have found that increased preoccupation with appearance and body dissatisfaction put people at
greater risk for engaging in dangerous practices to control weight and size. Extreme dieting, exercise
compulsion, laxative abuse, vomiting, smoking and use of anabolic steroids have all been associated
with negative body image. ( Body Image, 2012).
Body Image
Body image encompasses how we perceive our bodies, how we feel about our physical experience as
well as how we think and talk about our bodies, our sense of how other people view our bodies, our
sense of our bodies in physical space, and our level of connectedness to our bodies. Over the past
three decades, while America has gotten heavier, the ideal woman presented in the media has become
thinner. Teenagers are the heaviest users of mass media, and American women are taught at a young
age to take desperate measures in the form of extreme dieting to control their

Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay
Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay
Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It
allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact
points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core,
and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is
maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts
touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since
been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not
efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in
the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be
changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used
efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer
market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus
the solution to this power inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better.
Describe the solution: This innovation provides a new design for an electromagnetic that is more
efficient in

Modern Vampire Research Paper
People! Hey, people! People! Listen up, because this will blow your freakin minds. Modern fantasy
fiction? Totally based on a retro role playing tabletop game. For real. I know, I know, I had trouble
containing my amazement at this epic discovery I just made today. I m probably like the first person
ever to make this connection. In all seriousness though, modern fantasy would not be what it is
without the influence of classic tabletop roleplaying games like the Dungeons Dragons and World of
Darkness series. I spent countless hours as teen and college student tossing D20s and D6s, my mind
drowned in The Forgotten Realms and the adventures of Drizzt Dro Urden and Wulfgar son of
Beorngar. To this day, I still see the influence of D20 games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

White Wolf Publishing s Vampire: The Masquerade and Ancient Blood are both the source inspiration
for the plethora of vampire fiction that spawned after the publication of Stephenie Meyer. s Twilight
saga. Indeed, Twilight itself owes a tremendous amount to the world of V:TM. White Wolf s created
world casts players as vampires living, working, and hunting as part of a secret and ancient vampire
culture that exists in the shadows of the human world. This theme is prevalent in every vampire
fantasy fiction from The Vampire Diaries to my personal favorite Buffy The Vampire Slayer. V:TM s
creator Mark Rein Hagen states that he did not read Anne Rice s The Vampire Chronicles novels while
working on the game, but admits it may have certain shared elements with the world of LeStat and his
vampire cronies. Even the plot and structure of Meyer s Twilight universe show heavy influences of
both Rice and and Rein Hagen, though it is unknown if Meyer was familiar with either work. The
fantasy of being a being apart, yet part of a greater and secretive whole was what makes V:TM and
fiction similar to it such an engaging role playing game. Authors of modern vampire fiction all seem
to be creating worlds and characters that mimic role playing settings and characters in their behavior
and design. It is as if they are trying to offer readers what they have experienced themselves from
roleplaying games. While neither Joss Whedon nor

Theories Surrounding The RMS Titanic
The RMS Titanic is a passenger liner that sunk in the North Atlantic in 1912 after hitting an iceberg.
About 1,500 of the estimated 2,224 passengers died. The ship sailed full speed despite ice warnings,
preventing it from stopping or steering away from the berg. Watertight compartments flooded, causing
Titanic to go under. These details are supported by accounts and physical evidence, and therefore,
widely accepted as truth. However, there s a few alternative conspiracy and architectural theories. The
most notorious theory is by author Robin Gardiner, who posited Titanic was actually its sister ship,
Olympic. In an accident report, Olympic was found responsible for a 1911 collision with the HMS
Hawke. Consequently, the insurers wouldn t cover the damages, and Titanic s debut was delayed.
Gardiner suggests that to ensure financial gains from at least one running liner, Olympic was patched
up and renovated to pose as Titanic. The two ships were very similar in design, with minor external
and moderate internal differences. Both also had linoleum floors, which a managing director
demanded be covered on the alleged Titanic at the last minute. ... Show more content on

You can heat and cool just the rooms you choose. When a variable speed motor is combined with a
zoned system, your comfort is achieved, while providing a higher energy efficiency to a system that is
already extremely energy efficient on its own. Our technicians offer the installation, and the air
conditioning repair in Arlington, TX that you need.
How it Works
A variable speed motor does exactly what the name says it provides variable speeds of operation, and
delivers the speed required for the minute to minute needs. For example, when temperatures are
extreme, the motor operates at a higher speed. On the other hand, when temperatures are mild, the
motor operates at a slower speed, conserving energy. And reducing wear and tear on the motor.
Conventional fans operate at a single speed, consistently consuming a higher rate of electricity than a
lower speed fan would.
The variable speed fan differs from single, two or three speed fans, which operate at a set RPM for
each fan speed. A variable speed motor operates from 0 RPM to full speed and everything in between.
The fan sensors determine the airflow and dehumidification your home needs, and provides it
precisely. When increasing comfort and saving energy are important to you, consider the benefits of a
variable speed fan. Contact our HVAC technicians for additional information, or to schedule

Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affects on Behaviors
Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their
Affect on Behaviors
We as humans tend to relate to those that are similar to us, and tend to alienate those that we deem as
different than us. Whether it is by race, gender, culture, or religion, it is something that is almost
always present in human interactions, and often times can be completely subconscious. In our
textbook Interpersonal Communication by Kory Floyd, an ingroup is defined as A group of people
with whom one identifies. An outgroup is conversely defined as A group of people whom one does not
identify. Henri Tajfel first coined this terminology while he was working to devise his social identity
theory. These ideas of classifying people into ingroups and outgroups can lead to many ... Show more

In matches between the two groups of football teams, the teams from the same state as the umpires
received more favorable decisions than the other teams did by a margin of 11% for the 171 games
studied. In situations where the umpires had to allocate rewards to members of a group they identified
with competing against a group they did not identify with they clearly favored their ingroup. This
study helped proved the theory that intergroup competition is a prevalent reason why ingroup
favoritism is often exhibited in society. This idea is completely embedded into the entire sporting
culture of our society today. We group ourselves together with the home team or the ingroup. We
prefer for that group, as well as ourselves by association, to be successful. The second explanation that
is usually offered is the idea that people will have a better opinion of people in their ingroup in order
to boost their own self esteem by association. Robert Cialdini conducted a very interesting study on a
concept called Basking in Reflected Glory (BIRG) at several different universities. In order to study
how self esteem was a determinant of ingroup bias, Cialdini and his team researched the behavior of
students after victories and losses of the school s football teams. Their results Demonstrated the BIRG
phenomenon by showing a greater tendency for university students to wear

Antitrust Laws And The Antitrust Division Of The U.s....
Antitrust laws are a collection of laws and regulations, put into place over time, to help govern the
competiveness of large corporations. Enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust
Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ( Antitrust Laws, 2003), the laws help regulate
ethical behavior between businesses to ensure that smaller businesses can compete with the bigger
name corporations. Mergers and monopolies come into play and greatly affect how these businesses
run. This paper will look at two different instances of possible violated laws and discuss the specifics.
The first case deals with a pharmaceutical company, the second two telecommunications companies.
One question being answered for both examples is what kind of ethical dilemmas are present. Read on
as the cases are examined. Federal antitrust enforcers are investigating whether a multinational
pharmaceutical company has attempted to minimize the impact of generic competition to one of its
most profitable prescription drugs. This antidepressant drug is the company s best seller, with sales
last year of $2.11 billion, representing a 22% increase from the year before. The Federal Trade

activities to prevent generic alternatives to the prescription drug from entering the market.

Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a condition that often causes knee pain. It can also cause pain in the
outside of your hip, thigh, and knee. The iliotibial band is a strip of tissue that runs from the outside of
your hip and down your thigh to the outside of your knee.
Repeatedly bending and straightening your knee can irritate the iliotibial band.
CAUSES
This condition is caused by inflammation and irritation from the friction of the iliotibial band moving
over the thigh bone (femur) when you repeatedly bend and straighten your knee.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in people who:

In this piece of writing we will be analysing adverts published by Guinness. Guinness itself has,
according to one of its adverts, been around since 1759. If this is true then this would make Guinness
one of the oldest drinks around today, except, of course, water. What really matters for us is that
Guinness has been at the forefront of advertising since the 1920s. Guinness adverts have constantly

surprises along the way. In fact Guinness adverts have been so consistently good that there are books

This again draws the reader s attention to the top and the word Guinness. This is emphasizing the
product name and, in collaboration with the picture, makes sure that the reader cannot forget what the
advert is advertising, as is the case in some more modern adverts. There is a slight pun in the words
Guinness by the sea as it depicts Guinness as a holiday resort instead of a drink. This lightens the
advert up and may make the reader laugh. This is to make the advert stick in readers memories, as you
are more likely to remember something that you laughed at than something that you found dull and
boring. Also the color helps to achieve this by being very bright.
I believe that the target audience of this advert is the young adults because it shows that drinking
Guinness is cool. In this way it appeals to snobbery and the desire to be cool and to keep up with what
is fashionable. It also challenges popular notions of gender by showing women drinking with the men.
In this way it depicts women as equal.
The second advert that we will look at is a T.V commercial from 1996. It is broken up into eight
slides. It shows women at work in what were traditionally considered as men s jobs, like working
down a mine and driving a lorry. It also shows a woman beating a man in an arm wrestle and an empty
maternity ward. This is showing that women

delightful meal consisting of Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls and
an assortment of holiday deserts. Dozens of volunteers were on hand to make sure that this celebration
went off without a hitch. I had the pleasure of signing guests into the community center and directing
them to the entrance of the banquet hall. Most of the people that showed up were people that live in

Data plane has a simple forwarding engine. It is a very simple mechanism. It does not involve any
tables.
MPLS CONTROL AND DATA PLANE COMPONENTS

■ HOW DOES IT WORK
MPLS works by prefixing packets with an MPLS header, containing one or more labels . This is called
a label stack. Each label stack entry contains four fields: ● A 20 bit label value. ● A 3 bit Traffic Class
field for QoS (quality of service) priority (experimental) and ECN (Explicit Congestion Notification).
● A 1 bit bottom of stack flag. If this is set, it signifies that the current label is the last in the stack. ●
An 8 bit TTL (time to live) field. These MPLS labeled packets are switched after a label
lookup/switch instead of a lookup into the IP table. As mentioned above, when MPLS was conceived,

System Of The Juvenile Justice System
In the system of the Juvenile Justice System ( J.J.S) they spend a lot of money on troubled youth. The
J.J.S should attempt to help these kids but, not spend thousands of dollars a year to help rehabilitate
these kids. The kids that come in should not come into be spoon fed with nice things while in
detention. They are not there because they are victims, they are there because they are victims of their
own decisions.
Another thing you should watch for in troubled youth are multiple offenders. They know what they
are doing and they are doing it because they think it is benefiting them. People that repeat the same
crime over and over again don t learn. If a person is raised to believe that what they are doing is fine
then they will

Theme Of Death In The Trenches
During the war, death was a rampant issue that ran amok in the trenches. But it wasn t always
physical, or quick. Joseph Boyden illustrates in his novel that death is different for everyone and every
time. For some, it can feel decades long or quick as a breath. It could be world shattering, or just
another event that happens in your day. More than roughly forty percent of all men who participated
and died in the war were killed by snipers. For 15 year old Sean Patrick, this was the horrifying reality
he had to face. Shot through the neck by a German sniper, he writhed on the ground in pain for a few
last precious moments of life, however in great immense pain. Life taken from him as quick as a
gunshot. Mind, body, and soul. Sean Patrick

Niccolo Machiavelli Essay
Niccolo Machiavelli Around 1513 Niccolo Machiavelli while writing The Prince would not be
considered a theologian. When thinking of Machiavelli many people confuse him together with the
names of rulers who have abused his writings. It also seems other people confuse Machiavelli with the
rapper who took his name. Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true
message, bettering the state and the greater good. Machiavelli may seem evil to some but his political
theory properly applied is optimal for founding a state, establishing and then maintaining order.
Machiavelli being a consequentialist believed actions should be judged by their consequences.
Machiavelli because of the way he thought believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to hurt
some? Machiavelli is not against all that is good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against
religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his
philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although
one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be
praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the
others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions,
when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too
could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment
that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses
when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must
found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and
The Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make
himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. A Prince
should establish a republic but still

Analysis Of Pat Barker As A Memory
A memory has different ways to function that varies from one person to another. The memory itself is
defined as the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. Trauma is something else
that can be attached to a memory and it is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience.
Memory plays a tremendous role in our lives as well as in our society. A memory can prevent us from
making mistakes as well as it can haunt us to the point of breakdown. Are all memories worth to be
reminded of? In Regeneration by Pat Barker as well as in The IMIGRANTS by W.G. Sebald we see a
flow of narratives that underline traumatic memories. On this paper, we will focus our attention on
Billy Prior, one of the characters in Regeneration, and Ambros Adelwarth of The Emigrants who are
somehow fighting their memories.
Billy Prior and Ambros Adelwarth both represent a strong problem of memory, they both have a clear
memory of their past, but sharing them is one of the problems in the first place. Let begin by talking
about Billy Prior, a conflicted and complicated character being a soldier who had had a difficult life,
both at war and at home as he mentions to Rivers about the front: Look, you might like to think it s
one big happy family out there, but it s not (Regeneration, pg. 53). His experience in the army was not
as happy as he had imagined it could be since he believed that he did not really fit in his previous job
as a clerk in a shipping office, but that he would

It covers four topics which include the production model, the Romer model s growth rate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All three countries took a hit to GDP growth in the 1970 s due to the oil price shocks and more recently the global financial crisis has stunted growth in the past four to five years. Both Australia and China were able to avoid falling into a recession but the United States was not so fortunate (see Figure 2). An article in The Economist from November 13th 2009 written by Joshua M Brown titled Secret Sauce supports my findings of why China s GDP growth can be explained by their TFP growth. Brown (2009) argues that China s rapid growth is not just due to heavy investment as is the common claim, but to the fact they have the fastest productivity gains of any country in the world. The United States has achieved small but steady TFP growth which translates into a similar smaller annual GDP growth than that of China. Australia on the other hand has in the past 10 years experienced a slowdown in TFP growth but it has seemed not to have affected total GDP growth too much. The most efficient running machine that has evolved with many structural adaptions for untiring rapid progress on the ground so that they run long distances efficiently and changing of muscle size and grouping all suggests locomotor adaption (Williams, 2013). Selection is based on previous performance including race record; pedigree and phenotype to which play an important role when evaluating racehorses with conformation which is subjective to opinion or experience (McIlwrath, 2004). Foals in the racing industry are purchased through auction sales and stud farms and are based on their conformation, way of going and pedigree although conformation criteria differs from foal to 2 3 year old through musculoskeletal changeability. What has to be considered is the sire or dam who have produced winning progeny and has made the most prize money through races ran (O Mara, 2015). Pasta is an Italian food made from dough using flour, water and eggs. When talking about the origin of pasta, a distinction needs to be made between fresh and dry pasta. Much shorter than spaghetti, and hollow, macaroni does not contain eggs. Fusilli, a spiral shaped pasta, also called corkscrew pasta, is usually about four centimeters long. Fusilli is almost identical to another shaped pasta called rotini. They both have a spiral shape, but rotini is slightly larger, thicker and curlier. What supply chain changes did Microsoft make between the Xbox and the Xbox 360? What was the motivation for these changes? When Microsoft first entered the market with the release of the Xbox in 2001 it was a newcomer in the console business. The company had neither an established brand presence in this area, nor did it have a developed base of games and gamers in the market, such as Sony. Therefore, the primary purpose of introducing the Xbox was to establish Microsoft in the market, to develop a brand presence, gain acceptance among gamers and to prepare the way for future products. However, when Microsoft started the development of its next generation console the Xbox 360 it recognized the deficits and problems related to its initial strategy: the company was operating under too high costs in order to assure high product availability which was not the critical factor in this business. The nature of the console business is about providing the customer with a cheap hardware and a variety of games, in order to generate profits from games sales. Additionally, the first Xbox was released one year behind Sony s PS2, Microsoft s biggest competitor in the market. This delay resulted in a substantial loss of sales and consequently reduced game sales. Therefore, Microsoft learned that the Xbox 360 had to be launched ahead of Sony s PS3. Accordingly, one relevant part of Microsoft s new strategy was the first to market approach. Another essential change in Microsoft s business strategy concerned its cost structure in the Xbox supply chain. Whereas the initial strategy focused heavily on reliability, Microsoft changed its strategy to achieving reduced costs and increased profitability. Additionally, the company insisted on owning the design of critical components, such as the microprocessor and the graphics chip, in order to control its own destiny . Can an idea or invention that exist in your mind be considered property? Yes, it can. Intellectual property is an invention or an idea that gives a person the exclusive rights to a product or a process. There are many types of intellectual properties like inventions, discoveries, artwork, and writings. Intellectual property can be stolen; someone can misuse it without permission. Violation of intellectual property rights, also called infringements, can result in a lawsuit or a fine, depending on the type of intellectual property involved. The history of intellectual property dates back to 500 B.C. when a chef in the Greek colony of Sybaris were granted monopolies for creating culinary delights. There are three basic areas of intellectual property, patents, trademarks, and copyrights. One form of intellectual property is patents. A patent gives an inventor the rights to his or her invention. America s Obsession With Weight Loss and Body Image America s Obsession with Weight Loss and Body Image Introduction Concern with weight and body image is a widespread preoccupation for many Americans. In a study of college students 74.4 percent of normal weight woman and 46 percent of normal weight men said they thought about their weight or appearance all the time or frequently ( Body Image, 2012). Focus on appearance is at an all time high in American culture increasing the potential for negative body image. Poor body image increases the risk for extreme weight/body control behaviors. • 22. Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core, and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. White Wolf Publishing s Vampire: The Masquerade and Ancient Blood are both the source inspiration for the plethora of vampire fiction that spawned after the publication of Stephenie Meyer. s Twilight saga. Indeed, Twilight itself owes a tremendous amount to the world of V:TM. White Wolf s created world casts players as vampires living, working, and hunting as part of a secret and ancient vampire culture that exists in the shadows of the human world. This theme is prevalent in every vampire fantasy fiction from The Vampire Diaries to my personal favorite Buffy The Vampire Slayer. V:TM s creator Mark Rein Hagen states that he did not read Anne Rice s The Vampire Chronicles novels while working on the game, but admits it may have certain shared elements with the world of LeStat and his vampire cronies. Even the plot and structure of Meyer s Twilight universe show heavy influences of both Rice and and Rein Hagen, though it is unknown if Meyer was familiar with either work. The fantasy of being a being apart, yet part of a greater and secretive whole was what makes V:TM and fiction similar to it such an engaging role playing game. The ship sailed full speed despite ice warnings, preventing it from stopping or steering away from the berg. Watertight compartments flooded, causing Titanic to go under. These details are supported by accounts and physical evidence, and therefore, widely accepted as truth. However, there s a few alternative conspiracy and architectural theories. The most notorious theory is by author Robin Gardiner, who posited Titanic was actually its sister ship, Olympic. In an accident report, Olympic was found responsible for a 1911 collision with the HMS Hawke. Consequently, the insurers wouldn t cover the damages, and Titanic s debut was delayed. Gardiner suggests that to ensure financial gains from at least one running liner, Olympic was patched up and renovated to pose as Titanic. Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affects on Behaviors Ingroups, Outgroups, and Their Affect on Behaviors We as humans tend to relate to those that are similar to us, and tend to alienate those that we deem as different than us. Whether it is by race, gender, culture, or religion, it is something that is almost always present in human interactions, and often times can be completely subconscious. In our textbook Interpersonal Communication by Kory Floyd, an ingroup is defined as A group of people with whom one identifies. This idea is completely embedded into the entire sporting culture of our society today. We group ourselves together with the home team or the ingroup. We prefer for that group, as well as ourselves by association, to be successful. The second explanation that is usually offered is the idea that people will have a better opinion of people in their ingroup in order to boost their own self esteem by association. Robert Cialdini conducted a very interesting study on a concept called Basking in Reflected Glory (BIRG) at several different universities. The memory itself is defined as the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. Trauma is something else that can be attached to a memory and it is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. Memory plays a tremendous role in our lives as well as in our society. A memory can prevent us from making mistakes as well as it can haunt us to the point of breakdown. Are all memories worth to be reminded of? In Regeneration by Pat Barker as well as in The IMIGRANTS by W.G. Sebald we see a flow of narratives that underline traumatic memories. On this paper, we will focus our attention on Billy Prior, one of the characters in Regeneration, and Ambros Adelwarth of The Emigrants who are somehow fighting their memories.
