Compare And Contrast Persia And China
Comparison of Government in Persia and China After the rise and fall of the earliest civilizations,
some of the very first ancient empires started to emerge over many centuries before the birth of Christ.
Although there are many things that characterize these empires uniquely from each other, there are
still resemblances between them. Despite the fact that both Persia and China were great empires in
two different regions, their governing methods coincide in the systems of organization and basic
infrastructures; but they differed greatly in the beliefs of both the government and people. As both
empires had considerable amounts of land that they ruled over, the method of organizing their lands
held great importance to effectively ruling each empire. First off in Persia, we see King Darius s
acumen in organization through the division of his land into 20 provinces. King Darius assigns a
governor called a satrap, a military commander, and a tax collector to each province to allow self
governing as long as each province paid their taxes and tributes and remained loyal to the king.
Similarly, during the Qin Dynasty in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Persian Empire, King Darius introduced the usage of standardized currency and the Royal
Road; and Shi Huangdi of the Chinese Empire initiated a centralization program for a highway system
and standardization of measurements, including money. In these two similarities, we see the reason
behind the long lasting and strong control the two empires had, as both currency and road systems
encouraged trade to flourish consequently bringing prosperity and peace. Having consolidated the
foundations of an empire, people prospered and grew content under the rule of powerful kings such as
Darius in Persia and Shi Huangdi in China. However, even with such similarities, there are a two
critical differences the two empires

Ashley s Ethical Dilemma
Ashley is a six and a half years old child with static encephalopathy. Her parents request a
hysterectomy (to prevent menstruation), surgical removal of nascent buds (to prevent development),
and estrogen therapy (to speed up the natural closure of her growth plates). The ethical dilemma is
whether these procedures should be done on Ashley based on the parents request. There are no legal or
professional standards for this. By adhering to the parents request, the physician would be eliminating
menstrual pain. The estrogen therapy would stop Ashley from growing taller. This would make Ashley
more portable and will make it easier for the parents to take care of her. Also, because she can be
moved more easily, she will be less likely to

Martin Van Buchanan Analysis
I wanted to examine President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan, who were both
Democrats or of the Democratic Party.
These are the key similarities between President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan.
First is the offices they held. Both Presidents were in the United States Senate and were appointed
Ministers to foreign countries. Another key similarity is that they both only served one term. Another
one is that neither one of them oversaw a major war.
These are the key differences, between President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan.
President Martin Van Buren was minister to Russia which had yet to industrialize versus President
James Buchanan who was minister to England an industrial power, and a big ... Show more content on

These are not perfect similarities or differences. At least in the way that someone could say that
Abraham Lincoln freed slaves or Thomas Jefferson owned them. There are two similarities with the
preceding statement. First, both of the Presidents tried to maintain the integrity of the union. The faster
your state expands the harder it is to maintain control and placing a nation under the support of those
who would advocate it be left intact is the lesser of two evils. The second way is that both of their
policies would have been in opposition to Southern Democrats. This is because Texas would have
entered the union a slave state and Southerners would have been opposed to anti slavery Northerners
holding office.
A few other thoughts I had about these men and their party was. This party iteration of the Democrat
seems to have more in common with the Democratic Republicans of the Jeffersonian era rather than
the Democrats around the time President Abraham Lincoln was elected. I reached this conclusion
because the Democrats of the time had a platform of free market economics ie. the use of gold as
currency, solvency and the opposition to state chartered federal

Bed Bath and Beyond Business Analysis
Bed Bath and Beyond Business Analysis Businesses have to adapt to the ever changing economy. It is
not much of a choice for business leaders to change elements of their organization to stay in
competition with their peers. The hardest part, most of the time, is changing the people in the
organization to develop the necessary outcome or goal. As a business leader getting rid of people or
changing their job specifics is one of the many responsibilities they have to be comfortable
performing. Organizations have to take into consideration their competitors, customers, shareholders,
employees, and the community to make decisions. Change is an aspect that many people are afraid of.
In the new millennium, organizational leaders have to embrace ... Show more content on

5). Some of these superstores were 80,000 square feet and carried more than 300,000 different
products stocked from floor to the ceiling. By 1991, they started opening new stores in more states,
and two stores already in operation increased in size to match the trending superstore format. Sales
and earnings for the founders increased unexpectedly and they invested the revenue right back into the
organization. As the number of stores increased, Eisenberg and Feinstein were also strategically
placing Bed Bath and Beyond stores in locations contrary to the norm in metropolitan areas. Strategies
and Tactics Like most organizations, ways to adapt to economic downturn or recession are
strategically planned. Bed Bath and Beyond has some strategies they are engaging in. Bed Bath and
Beyond is financially strong. They have an advantage over most retailers when it comes down to
possessing an availability of opportunities during an economic downturn and recovery. That one
advantage is to grow. In hard times and when businesses are focusing more on cutting back on staff,
resources, and adapting to working on a budget, they are in no mindset to grow and build upon the
company. Bed Bath and Beyond are financially strong that they are opening more locations and taking
a strong hold on the retail industry when their peers are slowing and

Sources of ancillary revenue include fees for baggage, ticket change, extra amenities, annual
subscriptions to premium services, frequent flyer programs (FFP), and even on board duty free sales.
Some of the more innovative sources (such as annual subscriptions and FFP products like branded
credit cards) generate handsome margins for the airline and promote brand loyalty. Such strategies
helped the airlines improve profitability for 2013.
Improved profitability is allowing airlines to increase strategic investment for future growth.
Airlines are boosting investments to enhance their customer product offering and operating
efficiencies. Example, in addition to new airplanes, airlines are investing in new information and
mobile technology, upgraded cabin interiors for higher levels of service, and additional seats to
improve unit costs. Some airlines are increasing equity investment in other airlines and cross border
partnerships to solidify and expand networks. Reinvestment of profit into airline products enhances
the long term growth prospects for the industry.
Airline strategies and business models
Strategic planning is a continual process for airlines. Plans must take into account the challenging and
ever changing competitive environment as well as how passengers define value. Example, Business
travelers are sensitive to flight times and expect a high level of service. Short haul business travelers

Differences Between New England And The Chesapeake Region
The Chesapeake region was made up of the Virginia and Maryland colonies. The first english
settlement in the Chesapeake was Jamestown, founded in 1607, in the Virginia colony. The New
England colonies include Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts Bay, and New Hampshire. The
first New England colony to be settled was the Massachusetts Bay, or Plymouth colony in 1620. By
1700 the two regions had advanced into two relatively different communities. Although the New
England and the Chesapeake region had differences politically and geographically, their main
difference in development occurred economically because the Chesapeake region was formed to make
money, the Chesapeake region relied heavily on slavery while New England relied on their children
for labor, and the population in the Chesapeake region were mainly men while in New England
families made up the population. The Chesapeake region being founded primarily to make money
contributed to the differences in development between New England and the Chesapeake region. The
colonies were set up to bring money into England. There was no talk...but dig gold, wash gold, refine
gold, load gold (Document F). The document explains how the people in the Chesapeake region were
not there to make a colonies for living but rather colonies for generating money. In the Chesapeake
region they prospered by growing cash crops, specifically tobacco. Spurred by tobacco profits, ships
loaded with supplies and new immigrants continued to

My Favorite Teacher In High School
Third Grade. Most people remember learning multiplication, getting more homework, and a very
slight increase in responsibility. What s my most vivid memory? The time my teacher was rushed to
the hospital during the school day. My homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hauge is still one of the nicest
teachers I ve had today. She taught the cluster classroom, which is when all the kids the school
considers Gifted Learners are all put in one class rather than being split up so that they can more easily
be taught what they need. She was always nice, and not very strict. Basically, she was my favorite
teacher all through elementary school. While her trip to the hospital was a traumatic experience for the
whole class, it really shaped me as an individual. Mrs. Hauge is an older teacher. She wears glasses
attached to a beaded necklace, and her faded blond hair was cut in a short bob. Every year on the day
before winter break, without fail she would go to the front of the third grade hallway with reindeer
ears and bells, and sing holiday songs like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells. Every
year after I was in her class, I returned to the third grade wing on that day to sing songs with her in the
morning before school starts, as did a lot of her other past students. One day in November, I had an
exciting day. And not in a good way. The day started as normal; we had morning meeting, did our
grammar exercises, and filed out of the classroom to go to music. However, when we were

Ancient Mesopotamian Writing
By 3000 B.C. in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq), and then soon after in Egypt, and by 1500 B.C. in
China, people were scribbling, sketching and telling their world about their culture in a very
permanent way. When ancient Mesopotamians started settling down onto farms surrounding the first
cities, life became a bit more complicated. Agriculture required expertise and detailed recordkeeping,
two elements that led directly to the invention of writing, historians say. The first examples of writing
were pictograms used by temple officials to keep track of the inflows and outflows of the city s grain
and animal stores which, in the bigger Sumerian urban centers such as Ur, were big enough to make
counting by memory unreliable. Officials began using

Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E.E. Cummings
anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings can be interpreted both literally and figuratively.
Literally, the poem can be read to mean that someone lived in a town where everyone was unhappy,
unloving, and cruel. The people went through life growing up, forgetting their lonely, loveless
childhoods, while others died unloved with nobody missing them, therefore the town continued to
repeat the cycle of unhappiness for every following generation. Figuratively, the poem can be viewed
as a love story between Anyone and Noone, how they fell in love, lived in happiness, and died
together, even though everyone else in their town was unhappy and just going through the motions of
life. Some of the possible themes of anyone lived in a pretty how town are individuality, live as you
want to live, live purposefully, be happy, and do not let others affect your own happiness. The poetic
form of this poem is a free verse narrative with quatrains. Some exact rhyme is used, as seen in lines 1
and 2 of stanzas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9. spring summer winter autumn , in stanzas 1, 3 and 9, is repetition
that expresses the passing of time. (Notice the word order change each time the seasons are mentioned
in the poem.) Alliteration is used in line 4 in the phrase he sang his didn t and danced his did. wish by
spirit and if by yes in line 32 employs assonance. Consonance can be seen in sun moon... rain in lines
8, 21 and 36, as well as in kiss his face in line 26. Use

Persuasive Essay On Same Sex Marriage
On May 18, 1970, Jack Baker and Michael McConnell walked into a courthouse in Minneapolis, paid
$10, and applied for a marriage license. The county clerk Gerald Nelson refused to give them one
because marriage was for couples that were opposite sex. Baker and McConnell did not give up,
Baker quit his engineering job to attend law school at the University of Minnesota. He spent hours in
the library researching Minnesota s marriage statute word for word. He discovered a loophole that It
did not state that two people of the same sex couldn t get married. Baker thought that the best
alternative to legal marriage would be to get some of the benefits of marriage, which would be
adoption. Because Minnesota law did not forbid an adult to adopt another adult, McConnell was able
to legally adopt Baker. That allowed Baker to change his last name to McConnell and his first name to
one that was gender neutral like Pat Lynn. The couple attempted to apply for a marriage license again,
this time in Blue Earth County, using Baker s new name McConnell. When he handed the paperwork
to the clerk, she noticed the name Pat Lynn McConnell and Michael McConnell on the application.
She didn t really seem to care. The office issued the marriage license without a problem. With their
license approved, they quickly planned their wedding ceremony in September 1971. Today things
have changed about same sex marriage on Friday June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court of the United
States made same sex marriage

Anti Semitism In The 1930s
In the 1930s and 1940s Anti Semitism was wide spread in Germany under the Nazi Government. The
treatment of Jews in Germany during this time was extremely brutal and harrowing. The human rights
abuses against Jewish people in Nazi Germany during the world war two periods are extremely well
documented. Anti Semitism ranged from the outlawing of marriage between Jews and gentiles, the
Nazi regime sanctioned destruction of Jewish homes and synagogue and of course the holocaust. The
holocaust is one of the darkest moments in modern history where approximately six million Jews were
killed in extermination camps in Poland which was occupied by Nazi Germany at the time. Anti
Semitism was deeply engrained in the policies, ideology and dogma of the Nazi party in Germany
during world war two. Anti Semitism was no new phenomena in Germany during the 1930s and
1940s. Anti Semitism in both a religious and racial sense has existed and developed for over 2000
years across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plea Bargain
Over the years plea bargaining has become the way for the Administration of Justice in America and
Canada s criminal trials. Accused criminals are giving up the rights to a fair trial, to indeed plead
guilty, in order to receive a much lesser charge, more comfortable prison, or even to agree to testify
against someone else. Fewer than ten percent of criminal cases brought up by the federal government
even make it to the federal courts to be tried before juries each year. According to one legal scholar,
every two seconds during a typical workday, a criminal case is disposed of in an American courtroom
by way of a guilty plea or nolo contendere plea (Lynch, par. 1). Which ultimately means more than
ninety percent of criminal cases are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6). This would leave the court system plenty behind and nearly almost impossible to attend to each
case. Plea bargaining is essential to court cases and must be done (Emerick), stated attorney Samuel
Buccero. The court is not set up to have multiple trials. The dockets are set up to be done in less than
an hour (Emerick), Buccero said.
Plea bargaining may have advantages in America s and Canada s Justice System, but it also proposes
an advantage for the accused criminal. It gives the defendant the opportunity to reduce sentence and
provide a better, more comfortable stay in correctional facilities. It gives the opportunity for guilty
criminals, who know a guilty sentence will be there if facing a jury, to plead guilty to the case for one
s own benefits. Rather than spending time presenting a losing case in front of a judge and jury, and
losing plenty of money in court fees, the case can be wrapped up in a matter of agreement. Guilty
defendants seem to be in a win win situation and can use plea bargaining as a total advantage.
While plea bargaining proposes plenty of advantages through the court of law in America and Canada,
it shows some disadvantages as well. First off, plea bargaining seems unlawful to many. Every
American is entitled to a right to a fair trial by the court of law. Giving the opportunity to plea bargain
is taking away from those constitutional rights. Defendants

The Negative Effects of Nuclear Energy
In 1950, the first commercial nuclear power
plants were constructed. The public was promised
a non polluting and resourceful type of energy, but
how safe was, and is, nuclear energy? Although
there are less than 500 licensed nuclear power
plants in the world, many nuclear accidents have
already been endangering civilian lives. More
serious accidents are not just likely, but inevitable
(Fairchild 29). Nuclear energy may appear to be
the ideal source of energy for the future: however,
there are many negative effects of nuclear energy
that can lead to very dangerous situations.
Energy has always been among the basic human

The hot
water is piped through a steam generator and
converts a secondary water supply into steam to
power the turbine. The two water supplies do not
mix (Galperin 45).
A gas cooled reactor is similar to a
pressurized water reactor. The only main
difference is that helium or carbon dioxide gas
replaces the water in the primary loop. These
reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are
more energy efficient (Galperin 46).
The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor.
This is very different then other reactors because it
produces more fissionable material then it
consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a
combination of plutonium and uranium. A breeder
reactor would be extremely useful if uranium was
scarce. It takes about 10 to 60 years to use up the
fuel from just one cycle (Galperin 46).
Radiation is very strong in the nuclear waste of
power plants. Nuclear waste exists in several
forms. One form is called high level waste, and the
other is called low level waste. High level waste is
mostly from the used fuel rods and other materials
exposed to as much radiation as they are.
High level wastes can let out very large amounts
of radiation for thousands of years. There is no
place to store this waste that is safe, and it will
always be radioactive. But for now, they are
stored in the ground. Other proposed storing
solutions are sending it to space, burying it in the
core of the earth, burying it in the

Paul And Silas Research Paper
Paul and Silas went to Philippi to preach the gospel. One day, they met a slave girl on the way to the
place of prayer. The girl was possessed by a ghost which made her a fortune teller. Paul ordered the
ghost in the name of Jesus to come out of the girl, and immediately, the ghost left her. Her owners,
however, became annoyed with Paul. The girl could no more tell the future and the owners could no
more make money through her. They captured Paul and Silas, and accused them of making trouble in
the city. Paul and Silas were stripped of their clothes, beaten, and fastened in the innermost prison.
However, they didn t blame God but praised God and prayed to him. A jailer was ordered to keep Paul
and Silas securely. About midnight, suddenly an earthquake shook the prison. All doors were opened
and everyone s chains were unfastened. The jailer thought that he would be punished because the
prisoners might had escaped. So he drew his sword and was about to kill himself. Then suddenly, Paul
shouted loudly and said: Do not harm yourself, for we are all here. The jailer ran to Paul and Silas and

There a many reasons why we believe in Jesus and become Christians. First of all, God, our Father,
has shown his endless and unconditional love for us. John 3:16 says: God so loved the world that he
gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. No
one in the world can love us like him. The way people love others is conditional and limited. Their
love changes according to time, circumstances, and also according to people. God s love, however, has
no end and embraces us everyone no matter who we are and what we do. God does not only love
great, rich, and intelligent people. Rather, he cherishes people who are weak and poor, and those who

The Network Ip Address Scheme
UMUC s new building in Adelphi, MD will have to provide networking connectivity to students,
professors, and staff. In order to begin the process of planning the new network, we will begin by
planning the network IP addressing scheme. It is very important that the network IP addressing
scheme be clearly defined in order for IT administrators to locate computers promptly. Also, in order
to make it easier for the administrators, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) will be used to
assign IP addresses. The organization of the subnet layout will assist the IT administrators as well as
making effective use of IP addresses.
In order to differentiate between students, staff, and instructors, we will place them on different
subnets. Also, the instructors subnet will begin with a 1 in the third octet, the staff subnet will begin
with a 3 , and the students subnet will begin with a 4 or 5 in the third octet of the IP addresses. Lastly,
the second digit of the third octet will assign the floor for each subnet. An even number in the second
digit will mean that the computer or device on the subnet is located on the first floor and an odd
number means that it is located on the second floor. Network IP Addresses

Use Of Suspense In The Birds
To quote irish playwright, novelist, essayist, and poet Oscar Wilde, This suspense is terrible. I hope it
will last. This is the attitude necessary for a viewer or reader to have while being trapped in a story
like The Birds . Alfred Hitchcock s film The Birds better utilizes and creates suspense when compared
to Daphne du Maurier s short story The Birds because it uses slow movements in scenes, short shots
of strange bird activity, and an increase of sound in suspenseful situations.
One way Hitchcock uses suspense in his film The Birds is by making the characters partake in very
slow movements. For instance, in the scene where Melanie Daniels is slowly walking up the stairs
because she hears strange noises, she moves very slowly up the stairs, and takes a very long time
opening the door. This gives the viewer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the scene when the birds begin to attack the gas station in town, Hitchcock focuses
greatly on the sound of birds cawing and flapping wings. This technique shows the viewer that the
birds are the most important and dominant element of the scene, as well as making the viewer feel like
they are partaking in the scene. The loud cries of birds and people make you feel anxious and
apprehensive about the result of the scene and how the characters will be after the scene. Additionally,
when the birds are about to break into the Brenner s home through the chimney, the sounds of banging
and thudding progressively gets louder. This increases the viewer s anxiety about what the sounds are,
why they are getting louder, and what is going to happen later through the plot. As you can see,
Hitchcock s film adaptation of Daphne du Maurier s The Birds better uses and creates suspense by
increasing sound to create a feeling of anxiety and apprehension in the

Essay On Gas Tax
The topic of this paper is gasoline prices and higher state sales tax.
According to Singers(Aug 24,2017), ITEP S (July,2017), (July,2017),(Aug 2011), and(December
2011), higher sales and gas tax in Connecticut have consequences and a solution proposed to reduce
tax burden on low income family. Based on the readings and my understanding of this topic, I
conclude that increasing sales and gas taxes in Connecticut to fix a budget crisis will be financially
harmful to low income families and needs to be address with new policy. Singer(Aug 24,2017),

According to Singer s (Aug 24, 2017), the Connecticut 6.35 percent sales tax ranks thirty two in the
US. It s higher than certain state such as Massachusetts, and lower than others, such as Rode Island
and New York. As Connecticut tries to grow its economy and fix it budget crisis with higher sales tax,
will create a financial problem for the lower and middle classes. based on estimate produced by ITEP
data, low income families spend seventy five percent of their income on items subjected to sales tax,
higher than fifty percent spent by middle income families and ten percent spent by the richest families
(ITEP). Considering this, upper income families are not affected by the tax, but low and mid income
people who cannot afford the tax. Comparing Connecticut s gas tax to other states shows that,

Comparing The Party And The Norsefire Party
A dystopia is an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a
totalitarian or environmentally degraded one . George Orwell s 1984 is a dystopian society set in the
year 1984. Orwell, predicting a future under totalitarian reign, wrote of a government known as the
Party. The Party was an empire built through fear and treachery over its citizens. James McTeigue s
dystopian V for Vendetta had a similar totalitarian government known as the Norsefire Party. Both the
Party and the Norsefire Party sustained absolute power and control over the general public through use
of policing, invasive surveillance, and media. The Party and the Norsefire Party held control over the

The Party often blatantly lied in news reports to make it seem as though Big Brother was improving
the standard of living throughout oceania, than the reality of decreasing it. Orwell stated, It appeared
that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty
grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be
reduced to twenty grammes a week (58). Although the chocolate ration was reduced the day before,
the people seemed to eat up the Party s lies and celebrated the reduction as an increase. Party members

Good vs. Bad of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis...
Good vs. Bad of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a novella written by Robert Louis
Stevenson, a Scottish author. Written and published 1886, this novella reflects on the individual, and
societal behavior during the Victorian era. During the Victorian era people, were supposed to behave
like a normal person. Certain behaviors were highly restricted for example, showing evil. Instead, they
were expected to give respect for everyone. People who acted out against the norm during this period
were usually sent to asylums because such behaviors were unacceptable. People in this society did just
that, they behaved as if they were perfectly normal. This does not mean that their bad side did not
exist. Instead, they hid their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having a career in science and medicine was a big deal during this time. Dr. Jekyll is an educated,
wealthy, and well respected man. Through the eyes of the public, he is seen as a perfect, ideal
Victorian man. He is a large, well made, smooth faced man of fifty, with something of a slyish cast
perhaps, but every mark of capacity and kindness (31). Because of his status in society, Dr. Jekyll is
obligated to hide his pleasures and show the society his caring, affectionate, and loyal virtues. Dr.
Jekyll is benevolent and pleasant in his social interactions. He attempts to cover up his darker self by
creating a courteous public persona. Everyone has a different persona when they are outside in the
eyes of the public and when they are inside. Through Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll reveals his destructive side.
Transforming into Mr. Hyde gives Dr. Jekyll a freedom to act and behave without caring about the
public s opinion or about the consequences of his actions. Dr. Jekyll is captured and locked up deep
inside, he appears reasonably appropriate on the exterior but his inner reflections drives him towards
immorality. As Dr. Jekyll privately turns into Mr. Hyde, not only is his appearance transformed, but
also his behavior. This can be a similar caparison on people in today s society. People with high status
or popularity are always being watched with every move they make. If they make one small mistake,
then that will look bad on

So he has got a lot of power around him. Honestly he is a very smart man and does mostly everything
secretly. And the corruption with Sepp Blatter has been going on for awhile. But it seems that those
around him are the ones falling or failing. In 2015, FIFA called off amid corruption probe. Blatter and
Platini will avoid going face to face ahead of the friendly match after swiss authorities questions both
of them. Sepp Blatter and Michel platini will usually travel down to Switzerland just to watch the
friendly matches. I also heard that, most of the 2006 World Cup was full of bribery and chaos. People
didn t realize there was bribery going on because, all others cared about was the World Cup and which
country was going to win. And under FIFA president Sepp blatter s 17 year reign, exclusive foul play
has surfaced. In 2010, the host countries for the 2018 and the 2022 World Cups were selected. FIFA
was criticized for choosing two hosts at once. Critics warned this would increase the chances of
collusion. Fifa s inspection team evaluated a 9 bid and rated Russia and Qatar the riskiest places .
Qatar is a very hot country with like 106 degrees Fahrenheit summer temperatures in Qatar. Also
homosexuality being illegal in Qatar, the political situation in Russia and a strong English bid.

Viva La Vida Coldplay Analysis
Throughout history, there have been countless accounts of empires and kingdoms that have fallen due
to power and corruption. Kings and rulers, who were once able to break all laws without any
consequences, became shadows of their former selves and were forced to be remembered as failures.
The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay shows first hand account of a king, Louis XVI, the last monarch of
France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can bring. Listeners get a memoir of this
king who went from being a the pillar of society to a man whose legacy was tarnished by corruption.
Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of hearts and, through the use of metaphor,
Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s was thought to have everything a man wants. The
narrator is a wealthy king who is used to ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of
the monarch, he was born into a life of luxury, never wanting for anything. In the line One minute I
held the key we see that he once was able to walk with his head held high, holding all the power to do
with as he wished. He was the king and, besides God, there was no one above him. By the line Next

aides, licensed social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, hospice physicians, and supportive

Hospice offers to their patients she said, right now it s been difficult to provide the care that they really
need to give to the patients because, they currently have eighteen hospice residents, and the hospice
staff is very small in the one hundred and seventy bed facility. They have one chaplain, one social

The Diary of Anne Frank Essay
The Diary of Anne Frank
In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin
to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will draw up a conclusion.
Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the
first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was
made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. A year
later Anne began school and in 1935 Juden Verboten ( No Jews ) appeared on signs in restaurants and

Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex.
Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I
moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at
first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can
only imagine what it would have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school.
This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or
even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me,
I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go
into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in
for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July
6th,
1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr
Dussel the dentist.

Drunk driving is very dangerous at no point in time should anyone this is cool or ok to do because
their life and some else s could be ended. The way its starts off is maybe you re at a party and start
drinking, you don t call anybody to come drive you home or come pick you up, then you get into your
car drunk an start driving, how do you think it would end? Think what if you were in the same
situation but got someone to come get you instead you chose to drive drunk. Now you re putting you
and many other people s life in danger and that s not fair nobody should have to suffer the
consequences too because you chose to drive drunk. So this I why we have to put a stop to drunk
driving because we don t need anybody at stake of losing their life.

The Folly And Dual Identities Of The Victorian Society
Angela Reyes
Mrs. Garner
AP English Literature and Composition

The Folly and Dual Identities of the Victorian Society
Stephen Colbert states, Status is always ripe for satire; status is always good for comedy. The timeless
message of the social elite s obsession with their self imposed high statuses is the target of Oscar
Wilde s satirical play, The Importance of Being Earnest. Wilde defaces the reputations elites upheld in
the Victorian era and outlines the deviant display of Victorian manners as hypocritical. The quick
witted dialogue of his characters incites comedy which masks the underlying criticism of the Victorian
way of life. Oscar Wilde s masterful use of satire, the neologism Bunbury, and mockery of the
Victorian society establish the theme of duality embedded throughout the play, The Importance of
Being Earnest.
Satire is applied to highlight the folly embedded in Victorian logic, demonstrated by their manner of
addressing important matters with triviality. Lady Bracknell, a Victorian social elite condemns
Algernon s neologism Bunbury s history of terminal illnesses, an unexpected approach to the situation
considering the uncontrollable nature of illnesses. Lady Bracknell advised, ...it is high time that Mr.
Bunbury made up his mind whether he was going to live or die. This shilly shallying with the question
is absurd (Wilde 9). The folly of the Victorian elite is apparent in the manner with which Lady
Bracknell demeans the seriousness of

Time And Place To Meditate
Where, and when to meditate
Presumably, easier to find time and place to meditate, as long as you live alone. However, if you live
with a family, you are confronted with additional complications. Fortunately, in the beginning, it is
enough five ten minutes to be alone, to sit on your cushion. Later, as a more advanced meditator,
probably you will want more time, by then hopefully, your family might be accustomed already to
your meditation habit, and likely they won t hinder you. We were talking about what type of
meditation could be the best for you. Now we discuss the best time and the place to meditate.
Where to meditate?
Foremost, let s begin with the easiest, the breath meditation. Usually, the recommendation for that, it
should take twenty thirty minutes. Initially, it can be troublesome to find a fixed time for it. Besides, it
may feel tiring to sit still that long. Moreover, you can have too many disturbing thoughts, you do not
know what to do with, or perhaps it just seems way too boring to sit half an hour without doing
anything.

Nice try, but not the money since, we can increase its quantity. The single element we certainly feel to
have a shortage is time. People always have lack of time, and no one can increase the daily 24 hours to
25. We feel the lack of time especially at the end of our life. Otherwise, the time has an extraordinary
nature. The more action you fit into a given time, the less experience will remain in your memory in
the future. In case, you regularly operate in a multitask mode; you let the worth remembering
moments flow away between your fingers. On the other hand, meanwhile, you give yourself enough
time to enjoy what you are doing, paying attention to the present, interestingly, your memory will be
full of pleasant moments. So to speak, I want you to allow yourself to stop for a minute. Sit still, and

abnormalities in humans. Those with Down syndrome nearly always have physical and intellectual
disabilities. As adults their mental abilities are typically similar to an eight or nine year old. They
typically have poor immune function and generally reach developmental milestones at a later age.

The recovery process is life long and although there are some full functioning Down syndrome
patients there are others who require daily care and observation. Individuals with Down syndrome can
be identified by their features. Down syndrome has typical physical and mental characteristics, but
only seldom all of them or even most of them are found in one single person. If we study the character
of children with the syndrome, we will find they have a pleasant and convenient temperament and a
special character. They are friendly, sensitive and have a sharp and developed emotional intelligence.
These traits assist them in fitting in as a pat of society and the community rather successfully. The
discernible differences concerning the medical condition and the developmental level between Down
syndrome children are caused, among other things, by the different medical treatments and the support
of each child s environment. Support medical, educational, environmental can bring many
improvements in the children s function, allowing them to extract their maximum potential and
increases their chances to live a rich, independent community

Similarities Between FAT32 And NTFS
NFTS vs FAT 32
New Technology File System is a proprietary file system, File Allocation Table 32 is a computer file
system architecture. These two are very alike in some ways and very different in others. NTFS is
newer and has a lot more storage but FAT32 is has better security and still works even if Windows is
opened incorrectly. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast FAT32 and NTFS.
NTFS is a proprietary file system which means it is a file format of a business or person that contains
data that is stored according to a certain encoding scheme, designed by the business to be secret, so
that only the company that stored the data can see the data with software that they have developed.
NTFS has a max volume size of 264 clusters and the max number of files is 4,294,967,295 files.
NTFS is used to store and retrieve files on a hard disk. NTFS offers improvements from FAT and
HPFS in performance, extendibility, and security.
FAT32 is an older file system so it isn t as efficient but it has more compatibility with other OS s. It is
the oldest of the three file systems available for Windows and most flash drives are formatted with

Bowen Family Systems
Bowen Family System Theory
Introduction
In doing my studies on family/systemic counselling, I found Bowen s theory intriguing. In my work
and everyday life, I witness triangulation on a daily basis, from my own experience, without the
awareness from this module, I was often entwined in triangulation. As a trainee therapist I decided to
write my paper on Bowenian Therapy in order to gain a better understanding and develop my
awareness.
Murray Bowen, M.D. (31 January 1913 9 October 1990) was an American psychiatrist and a professor
in Psychiatry at the Georgetown University. Bowen was among the pioneers of family therapy and
founders of systemic therapy.

Triangles
Triangles are the basic units of systems. They balance between closeness and distance. The third
person or party brings unity and creates continuity in warring situation. The triangle brings stressed
person into a manageable level of operation. This involves true listening and gives a true advice for a
better solution. In it virtually all relationships are shadowed by third parties. For example when a
couple have an argument, afterwards, one of the partners may call their friend to talk about the fight.
The third person helps them reduce their anxiety and take action, or calm their strong emotions and
reflect, and make decision.
People who are more undifferentiated are likely to triangulate others and be triangulated whereas
people who are differentiated cope well with life and relationship stress, and as a result are less likely
to triangulate others or be triangulated.
The Nuclear Family Emotional Process
These are the emotional patterns in a family that continue over generations. This involves a modeling
scenario where a family member models and imitates the behaviour and even the language of his or
her parents. For example, a parent who teaches his or her children to be happy when things are ok and
sad when things are bad shapes the future thinking of those children. Here the parent passes on an
emotional view of the world (the emotional process), which is taught throughout generation

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Persia And China Comparison of Government in Persia and China After the rise and fall of the earliest civilizations, some of the very first ancient empires started to emerge over many centuries before the birth of Christ. Although there are many things that characterize these empires uniquely from each other, there are still resemblances between them. Despite the fact that both Persia and China were great empires in two different regions, their governing methods coincide in the systems of organization and basic infrastructures; but they differed greatly in the beliefs of both the government and people. As both empires had considerable amounts of land that they ruled over, the method of organizing their lands held great importance to effectively ruling each empire. First off in Persia, we see King Darius s acumen in organization through the division of his land into 20 provinces. King Darius assigns a governor called a satrap, a military commander, and a tax collector to each province to allow self governing as long as each province paid their taxes and tributes and remained loyal to the king. Similarly, during the Qin Dynasty in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Persian Empire, King Darius introduced the usage of standardized currency and the Royal Road; and Shi Huangdi of the Chinese Empire initiated a centralization program for a highway system and standardization of measurements, including money. In these two similarities, we see the reason behind the long lasting and strong control the two empires had, as both currency and road systems encouraged trade to flourish consequently bringing prosperity and peace. Having consolidated the foundations of an empire, people prospered and grew content under the rule of powerful kings such as Darius in Persia and Shi Huangdi in China. However, even with such similarities, there are a two critical differences the two empires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ashley s Ethical Dilemma Ashley is a six and a half years old child with static encephalopathy. Her parents request a hysterectomy (to prevent menstruation), surgical removal of nascent buds (to prevent development), and estrogen therapy (to speed up the natural closure of her growth plates). The ethical dilemma is whether these procedures should be done on Ashley based on the parents request. There are no legal or professional standards for this. By adhering to the parents request, the physician would be eliminating menstrual pain. The estrogen therapy would stop Ashley from growing taller. This would make Ashley more portable and will make it easier for the parents to take care of her. Also, because she can be moved more easily, she will be less likely to ... • 4. Martin Van Buchanan Analysis I wanted to examine President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan, who were both Democrats or of the Democratic Party. These are the key similarities between President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan. First is the offices they held. Both Presidents were in the United States Senate and were appointed Ministers to foreign countries. Another key similarity is that they both only served one term. Another one is that neither one of them oversaw a major war. These are the key differences, between President Martin Van Buren and President James Buchanan. President Martin Van Buren was minister to Russia which had yet to industrialize versus President James Buchanan who was minister to England an industrial power, and a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are not perfect similarities or differences. At least in the way that someone could say that Abraham Lincoln freed slaves or Thomas Jefferson owned them. There are two similarities with the preceding statement. First, both of the Presidents tried to maintain the integrity of the union. The faster your state expands the harder it is to maintain control and placing a nation under the support of those who would advocate it be left intact is the lesser of two evils. The second way is that both of their policies would have been in opposition to Southern Democrats. This is because Texas would have entered the union a slave state and Southerners would have been opposed to anti slavery Northerners holding office. A few other thoughts I had about these men and their party was. This party iteration of the Democrat seems to have more in common with the Democratic Republicans of the Jeffersonian era rather than the Democrats around the time President Abraham Lincoln was elected. I reached this conclusion because the Democrats of the time had a platform of free market economics ie. the use of gold as currency, solvency and the opposition to state chartered federal ... • 5. Bed Bath and Beyond Business Analysis Bed Bath and Beyond Business Analysis Businesses have to adapt to the ever changing economy. It is not much of a choice for business leaders to change elements of their organization to stay in competition with their peers. The hardest part, most of the time, is changing the people in the organization to develop the necessary outcome or goal. As a business leader getting rid of people or changing their job specifics is one of the many responsibilities they have to be comfortable performing. Organizations have to take into consideration their competitors, customers, shareholders, employees, and the community to make decisions. Change is an aspect that many people are afraid of. In the new millennium, organizational leaders have to embrace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5). Some of these superstores were 80,000 square feet and carried more than 300,000 different products stocked from floor to the ceiling. By 1991, they started opening new stores in more states, and two stores already in operation increased in size to match the trending superstore format. Sales and earnings for the founders increased unexpectedly and they invested the revenue right back into the organization. As the number of stores increased, Eisenberg and Feinstein were also strategically placing Bed Bath and Beyond stores in locations contrary to the norm in metropolitan areas. Strategies and Tactics Like most organizations, ways to adapt to economic downturn or recession are strategically planned. Bed Bath and Beyond has some strategies they are engaging in. Bed Bath and Beyond is financially strong. They have an advantage over most retailers when it comes down to possessing an availability of opportunities during an economic downturn and recovery. That one advantage is to grow. In hard times and when businesses are focusing more on cutting back on staff, resources, and adapting to working on a budget, they are in no mindset to grow and build upon the company. Bed Bath and Beyond are financially strong that they are opening more locations and taking a strong hold on the retail industry when their peers are slowing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the more innovative sources (such as annual subscriptions and FFP products like branded credit cards) generate handsome margins for the airline and promote brand loyalty. Such strategies helped the airlines improve profitability for 2013. Improved profitability is allowing airlines to increase strategic investment for future growth. • 8. Differences Between New England And The Chesapeake Region The Chesapeake region was made up of the Virginia and Maryland colonies. The first english settlement in the Chesapeake was Jamestown, founded in 1607, in the Virginia colony. The New England colonies include Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts Bay, and New Hampshire. The first New England colony to be settled was the Massachusetts Bay, or Plymouth colony in 1620. By 1700 the two regions had advanced into two relatively different communities. Although the New England and the Chesapeake region had differences politically and geographically, their main difference in development occurred economically because the Chesapeake region was formed to make money, the Chesapeake region relied heavily on slavery while New England relied on their children for labor, and the population in the Chesapeake region were mainly men while in New England families made up the population. The Chesapeake region being founded primarily to make money contributed to the differences in development between New England and the Chesapeake region. The colonies were set up to bring money into England. There was no talk...but dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold (Document F). The document explains how the people in the Chesapeake region were not there to make a colonies for living but rather colonies for generating money. In the Chesapeake region they prospered by growing cash crops, specifically tobacco. Spurred by tobacco profits, ships loaded with supplies and new immigrants continued to ... • 9. My Favorite Teacher In High School Third Grade. Most people remember learning multiplication, getting more homework, and a very slight increase in responsibility. What s my most vivid memory? The time my teacher was rushed to the hospital during the school day. My homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hauge is still one of the nicest teachers I ve had today. She taught the cluster classroom, which is when all the kids the school considers Gifted Learners are all put in one class rather than being split up so that they can more easily be taught what they need. She was always nice, and not very strict. Basically, she was my favorite teacher all through elementary school. While her trip to the hospital was a traumatic experience for the whole class, it really shaped me as an individual. Mrs. Hauge is an older teacher. She wears glasses attached to a beaded necklace, and her faded blond hair was cut in a short bob. • 10. Ancient Mesopotamian Writing By 3000 B.C. in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq), and then soon after in Egypt, and by 1500 B.C. in China, people were scribbling, sketching and telling their world about their culture in a very permanent way. When ancient Mesopotamians started settling down onto farms surrounding the first cities, life became a bit more complicated. Agriculture required expertise and detailed recordkeeping, two elements that led directly to the invention of writing, historians say. The first examples of writing were pictograms used by temple officials to keep track of the inflows and outflows of the city s grain and animal stores which, in the bigger Sumerian urban centers such as Ur, were big enough to make counting by memory unreliable. • 11. Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E.E. Cummings anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings can be interpreted both literally and figuratively. Literally, the poem can be read to mean that someone lived in a town where everyone was unhappy, unloving, and cruel. The people went through life growing up, forgetting their lonely, loveless childhoods, while others died unloved with nobody missing them, therefore the town continued to repeat the cycle of unhappiness for every following generation. Figuratively, the poem can be viewed as a love story between Anyone and Noone, how they fell in love, lived in happiness, and died together, even though everyone else in their town was unhappy and just going through the motions of life. Some of the possible themes of anyone lived in a pretty how town are individuality, live as you want to live, live purposefully, be happy, and do not let others affect your own happiness. The poetic form of this poem is a free verse narrative with quatrains. Some exact rhyme is used, as seen in lines 1 and 2 of stanzas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9. spring summer winter autumn , in stanzas 1, 3 and 9, is repetition that expresses the passing of time. (Notice the word order change each time the seasons are mentioned in the poem.) • 12. Persuasive Essay On Same Sex Marriage On May 18, 1970, Jack Baker and Michael McConnell walked into a courthouse in Minneapolis, paid $10, and applied for a marriage license. The county clerk Gerald Nelson refused to give them one because marriage was for couples that were opposite sex. Baker and McConnell did not give up, Baker quit his engineering job to attend law school at the University of Minnesota. He spent hours in the library researching Minnesota s marriage statute word for word. He discovered a loophole that It did not state that two people of the same sex couldn t get married. Baker thought that the best alternative to legal marriage would be to get some of the benefits of marriage, which would be adoption. Because Minnesota law did not forbid an adult to adopt another adult, McConnell was able to legally adopt Baker. That allowed Baker to change his last name to McConnell and his first name to one that was gender neutral like Pat Lynn. The couple attempted to apply for a marriage license again, this time in Blue Earth County, using Baker s new name McConnell. When he handed the paperwork to the clerk, she noticed the name Pat Lynn McConnell and Michael McConnell on the application. She didn t really seem to care. Accused criminals are giving up the rights to a fair trial, to indeed plead guilty, in order to receive a much lesser charge, more comfortable prison, or even to agree to testify against someone else. Fewer than ten percent of criminal cases brought up by the federal government even make it to the federal courts to be tried before juries each year. This would leave the court system plenty behind and nearly almost impossible to attend to each case. Plea bargaining is essential to court cases and must be done (Emerick), stated attorney Samuel Buccero. The court is not set up to have multiple trials. The dockets are set up to be done in less than an hour (Emerick), Buccero said. Plea bargaining may have advantages in America s and Canada s Justice System, but it also proposes an advantage for the accused criminal. It gives the defendant the opportunity to reduce sentence and provide a better, more comfortable stay in correctional facilities. It gives the opportunity for guilty criminals, who know a guilty sentence will be there if facing a jury, to plead guilty to the case for one s own benefits. Rather than spending time presenting a losing case in front of a judge and jury, and losing plenty of money in court fees, the case can be wrapped up in a matter of agreement. Guilty defendants seem to be in a win win situation and can use plea bargaining as a total advantage. While plea bargaining proposes plenty of advantages through the court of law in America and Canada, it shows some disadvantages as well. First off, plea bargaining seems unlawful to many. Every American is entitled to a right to a fair trial by the court of law. Giving the opportunity to plea bargain is taking away from those constitutional rights. Defendants ... These reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are more energy efficient (Galperin 46). The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor. This is very different then other reactors because it produces more fissionable material then it consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a combination of plutonium and uranium. A breeder reactor would be extremely useful if uranium was scarce. It takes about 10 to 60 years to use up the fuel from just one cycle (Galperin 46). Also, in order to make it easier for the administrators, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) will be used to assign IP addresses. The organization of the subnet layout will assist the IT administrators as well as making effective use of IP addresses. In order to differentiate between students, staff, and instructors, we will place them on different subnets. Also, the instructors subnet will begin with a 1 in the third octet, the staff subnet will begin with a 3 , and the students subnet will begin with a 4 or 5 in the third octet of the IP addresses. This is the attitude necessary for a viewer or reader to have while being trapped in a story like The Birds . Alfred Hitchcock s film The Birds better utilizes and creates suspense when compared to Daphne du Maurier s short story The Birds because it uses slow movements in scenes, short shots of strange bird activity, and an increase of sound in suspenseful situations. One way Hitchcock uses suspense in his film The Birds is by making the characters partake in very slow movements. Oscar Wilde s masterful use of satire, the neologism Bunbury, and mockery of the Victorian society establish the theme of duality embedded throughout the play, The Importance of Being Earnest. Satire is applied to highlight the folly embedded in Victorian logic, demonstrated by their manner of addressing important matters with triviality. Lady Bracknell, a Victorian social elite condemns Algernon s neologism Bunbury s history of terminal illnesses, an unexpected approach to the situation considering the uncontrollable nature of illnesses. Lady Bracknell advised, ...it is high time that Mr. Bunbury made up his mind whether he was going to live or die. This shilly shallying with the question is absurd (Wilde 9). The folly of the Victorian elite is apparent in the manner with which Lady Bracknell demeans the seriousness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my work and everyday life, I witness triangulation on a daily basis, from my own experience, without the awareness from this module, I was often entwined in triangulation. As a trainee therapist I decided to write my paper on Bowenian Therapy in order to gain a better understanding and develop my awareness. Murray Bowen, M.D. (31 January 1913 9 October 1990) was an American psychiatrist and a professor in Psychiatry at the Georgetown University. Bowen was among the pioneers of family therapy and founders of systemic therapy. The family systems theory is a theory introduced by Dr. Murray Bowen that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Triangles Triangles are the basic units of systems. They balance between closeness and distance. The third person or party brings unity and creates continuity in warring situation. The triangle brings stressed person into a manageable level of operation. This involves true listening and gives a true advice for a better solution. In it virtually all relationships are shadowed by third parties. For example when a couple have an argument, afterwards, one of the partners may call their friend to talk about the fight. The third person helps them reduce their anxiety and take action, or calm their strong emotions and reflect, and make decision. People who are more undifferentiated are likely to triangulate others and be triangulated whereas people who are differentiated cope well with life and relationship stress, and as a result are less likely to triangulate others or be triangulated. The Nuclear Family Emotional Process These are the emotional patterns in a family that continue over generations. This involves a modeling scenario where a family member models and imitates the behaviour and even the language of his or her parents. For example, a parent who teaches his or her children to be happy when things are ok and sad when things are bad shapes the future thinking of those children. Here the parent passes on an emotional view of the world (the emotional process), which is taught throughout generation ...
