The Importance Of The Warrior Class In Japan
The Warrior class were part of the social class in Japan that included Shoguns, Daimyos and Samurais.
The Shoguns would rule the Daimyos, who had control over the Samurais. Japan s warrior class led to
a lasting effect, enhanced weapons and effect on the social class which led to the alteration of the
warrior class roles.
In Japan, during the end of the first millennium, the samurai went to war with the emperor. This war is
known as the Genpei War and the Emperor was defeated by the Samurai. This led to the first
established shogunate. During the Edo period (1603 1868) or also known as the Tokugawa shogunate,
there was an era of stability that led to the rise of shoguns. Shoguns were considered the single ruler of
Japan although, the emperor was above the shoguns on the social class. Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled Japan
for 15 generations, controlling about 25% of the peoples land, leaving the rest of the 75% to be put
into domains, ruled by 275 daimyos. The shogun of Japan controlled government, however, when the
Meiji Restoration began in the 19th century, Japans stable society ended and the Shoguns lost all
power, due to Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry was a Christian who was seen as a threat to Japan as he
wanted to create a divide within Japan. Japan was split into two sections, one being the shogunate and
its supporters to remain in power and the Japanese nationalists who wanted the Emperor to regain
power. This divide in Japan led to a civil war known as the Boshin war or the

At the very top of Aztec society was the Tlacatecuhtli or chief men that dominated all religious
ceremonies and was the military leader of the Aztecs. Below him were religious offices that served as
military generals.
The religion of the Aztecs was made up of mainly three gods: Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca and
Quetzalcoatl. Below these three main gods were four creating gods. Below these four gods were many
other gods, however the most important were Tlaloc, the rain god, Chalchihuitlicue, the god of growth
and Xipe, the god of spring. The main thing that captures the attention of Aztec religion is their human
sacrifice made to the different gods. Although human sacrifice was practiced around Mesoamerica, the
Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in a large scale never seen before to date. The idea of human
sacrifice was that Gods gave things to humans like food, rain, wealth, and other goods only if they
were given human beings in return. The Aztecs believed that the goods liked best the living hearths of
sacrificed captives. If the captive was a well skilled soldier and very brave then the Gods would return
better goods to his people. This idea lead to wars were the Aztecs fought with other indians and

Some Ways the Enviornment Affects Human Health Essay
Some Ways That The Environment Affects Human Health?
Air Pollution
Air pollution is one obvious environmental health threat in OECD countries, contributing to a number
of illnesses, such as asthma and in some cases leading to premature death. Of particular concern is the
fact that children are more vulnerable to air pollution than adults, and increased rates of infant
mortality have been recorded in highly polluted areas.
Concerns about the impact of air pollution on health and the economy have resulted in measures to
mitigate emissions of the most harmful pollutants, such as particle pollution (acids, organic chemicals,
metals, and soil or dust particles) and ozone, which affects the respiratory system. Despite national

When power outages occur during emergencies such as hurricanes or winter storms, the use of
alternative sources of fuel or electricity for heating, cooling, or cooking can cause CO to build up in a
home, garage, or camper and poison the people and animals inside. Generators, grills, camp stoves, or
other gasoline, propane, natural gas, or charcoal burning devices should never be used inside a home,
basement, garage, or camper or even outside near an open window or window air conditioner.
Molds
Molds are fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors. No one knows how many species of
fungi exist but estimates range from tens of thousands to perhaps three hundred thousand or more.
Molds grow best in warm, damp, and humid conditions, and spread and reproduce by making spores.
Mold spores can survive harsh environmental conditions, such as dry conditions, that do not support
normal mold growth. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to molds can
cause symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin irritation. Some people, such
as those with serious allergies to molds, may have more severe reactions. Severe reactions may occur
among workers exposed to large amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working
around moldy hay. Severe reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Some people with
chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may develop

The Advancement Of Mobile Technology
The advancement in mobile technology that has occurred over the 21st century has certainly provided
society with a plethora of benefits. Benefits like reduced cost, increased availability, and the ability to
accomplish an increasing amount of tasks on these devices have made mobile technology more
accessible and more of an intricate part of our daily lives than it ever was. However, the use of mobile
devices has also presented risks that are enough to make the typical user constantly skeptical about
how secure these devices are. These risks are extremely evident when it comes to the use of laptops.
Laptops are used in all aspects of our lives today; we employ them for personal use as they are
beginning to replace desktop Pcs in our homes, we also use them in our work place more often as they
provide virtually all the necessities of a desktop computer without restricting our movement. They
have even become somewhat of a necessity in our schools. This in essence has exposed all areas of
our lives to the risks involved with the use of laptops. One of the main ways in which laptop security
faces risk is from malware attacks through the web. These days, malware attacks can come from

Alexander IIi Of King Of Ancient Greece
Alexander III of Macedon or commonly known as Alexander the Great was a King of Ancient Greek
kingdom Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. He spent most of his ruling years on an
extraordinary military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa and by the time he was 30 he had
created one of the largest empires of the Ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into
northwest India. Alexander is thought to be by most people as the greatest military command that ever
lived however this wasn t always the case. Many historians argue that Alexander was in fact the
opposite to what he perceived to be. This essay will essentially focus on the good and bad side of
Alexander s campaigns and through the study of various sources we will be able to determined the real
truth behind his leadership. The Persians and the Greeks had been at conflict for hundreds of years
before the time of Alexander. Ancient accounts say that Alexander was at war with both Persia and
their King Darius III and used the Persian Invasion of Greece in 5th century BC as an excuse for his
actions. Many of Alexanders greatest battles were fought against the Persians and is where the
ambitious young king began to conquer the known world. The first major battle that he won was the
Battle of the Granicus in 334 BC where he defeated a said 20,000 Persian horsemen and an equal
number of foot soldiers by Arrian. This was soon followed by another victory at the Battle of Isus in

Asian American And Asian Americans
Asian Americans are a very diverse group in the United States, which include many races such as
Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Indian, and many more. Birth country, ancestry, and
family heritage are ways to categorize this specific group. According to the 2010 Census, the Asian
American population has grown faster than any other group from 2000 to 2010 (Pew Research, 2012).
Asian Americans are either immigrants from Asia or are descendants of immigrants. Asian Americans
have an extensive history in the United States, starting from the early 19th Century, when many
people arrived to work in agriculture, construction, and low wage jobs. Not until 60 years ago were
foreign born Asian Americans permitted to become U.S. citizens (Pew Research, 2012). The number
of Asian Americans in the Unites States continues to increase, and the top six U.S. Asian groups
include, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, and Japanese (Pew Research, 2012). How do
Asian Americans in the United States identity? Do they identify as being American, Asian, or a
specific ethnic group? It is interesting to see how different people identify themselves. According to
Pew Research, a small percentage of Asian Americans, 14 percent, identify themselves as being
American, while only 1 in 5 people describe themselves as being Asian (2012). Therefore, the rest of
the population identifies themselves by their country of origin. I argue that all Asian Americans

Displacement In The Kite Runner
Renowned psychologist Sigmund Freud utilized psychological analysis regarding people and their
reactions to anxiety arousing stimuli to discover that most often, people illustrate at least one of his
identified defense mechanisms in order to calm their conscience. These defense mechanisms can
easily be identified across various cultures and time periods and appear throughout various types of
literature. Particularly, Khaled Hosseini provides his protagonist, Amir, with numerous opportunities
to express defense mechanisms, specifically displacement, in his praised novel The Kite Runner.
Primarily, Amir tragically witnesses a group of boys brutally rape his Hazara, Hassan, and later
expresses his guilt regarding his own failure to act outward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many times, when experiencing such a trauma, people or objects may develop a more profound
meaning to an individual than they previously possessed. According to psychologists, if one defends
their actions with displacement, they may allow others to become a symbol of their wrongdoings or
their aspirations (McLeod). This enables the struggling individual to channel their focus towards a
new symbol rather than towards what actually deserves the wrath of their spirit. Hosseini clearly
demonstrates this effect in his literature; Hassan rises above the immaturity and reaches out to Amir in
the months following his assault. Amir disregards Hassan s emotions and harasses him when they sit
together underneath a pomegranate tree. He begins taking his anger out on his Hazara, and [he] hit[s]
him with another pomegranate... Hit me back! [he] [spits]. Hit me back, goddamn you! (Hosseini 92).
In Amir s mind, Hassan embodies exactly what he strives to be: loyal, honest, and strong. His inability
to assume such a persona results in resentment toward Hassan and enables Hassan to symbolize Amir
s failure. Amir, yet again, displaces his unhappiness regarding his own actions upon Hassan by beating
him with the fruits, rather than damaging his own ego. Hence, Amir obviously responds to difficult
situations and his inner conflicts using displacement, because he channels the anger he

Additionally, the calculated profitability index of 1.11 suggests the project should be pursued. Note
that the discounted payback period is just under 7 years, 4 years beyond the contractual commitment
under consideration with HPL s largest retail customer.
3) Sensitivity analysis reveals interesting factors, however. Note in the additional tabs:
Ramping up capacity utilization to 85% in 3 years instead of the projected 5 years yields a full 2%
IRR increase.
If aggressive marketing can capture secondary demand from competitors and increase capacity
utilization from 85% to 95% in years 4 through 10, IRR is increased to 14.8%.
The project is very sensitive to unit selling price. If expected annual growth in sales price rises from
2% to just 3.5%, IRR rises a full 6.7% to 17.8%.
The project is also very sensitive to commodity costs. A small .5% increase in expected inflation from
1.0% to 1.5% annual raw material costs reduce baseline IRR calculations to 9.5%, making the project
unattractive compared to the 9.38% discount rate.
Improved capital planning yields expected improved project returns. The last tab illustrates a potential
improvement of 2.5% IRR.
Given this information, Vent Consulting has identified 3 courses of action (COA): 1) Accept the
capital expansion proposal as written by Mr. Gates 2) Accept the retailer s 3 year contract, but reduce

increased, and become worse and harder to solve. On the one hand, there is the two state solution
which consists in splitting both nations in two different states. One for Palestine and one for Israel side
by side. The framework of the solution is set out in UN resolutions on the Peaceful settlement of the
question of Palestine, going back to 1974 (Abunimah 130) which is a document that stablishes the two
state solution as a way to solve the Arab Israeli conflict. And on the other hand there is the one state
solution which is also known as the binational state solution. Proponents of a binational solution to the
conflict advocate a single state in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with citizenship and equal
rights in the combined entity for all inhabitants of all three territories, without regard to ethnicity or
religion (Tilley 250). This solution was presented on November 2007 and has been in discussion since
then. However, after the outburst of the war in the Gaza Strip in 2014, more people is starting to
believe it is the only viable solution for the issue.

The Good Life Montaigne Analysis
The good life is one of stability and the failure to be affected by forces and circumstances beyond the
control of the individual. This has been clearly stated beginning with Socrates, stating how each life
should be lived with self purpose: no outside influences. The artificial goods represent that of wealth,
status, and political power, whereas what an individual should cherish is their own personal beliefs
and convictions. All items that society has taught a person to hold and respect create more damage and
disruption than they benefit as they can easily be taken from oneself. A fortune can be lost, the
President will run out of terms, but the moral holding of each person is something that cannot be lost
or stripped by a force outside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, stating that a human has desire not only to attain a flourishing life, but also to appreciate what
surrounds them daily. He believes that every person has the craving for knowledge, but that each can
only learn a limited amount about Nature and how it operates. Montaigne later says, In her [Nature]
promises and threats there is great uncertainty, variability and obscurity, (Montaigne 1243).
Knowledge is so limited to each individual because Nature is constantly changing; changing what it
has to offer at any given time. It is not right or fair to live a life in which no material items are
cherished or respected. It is necessary to acknowledge that objects such as wealth, power, and social
status allow for a more comfortable life. However, like Boethius, Montaigne also accepts that these
material possessions are only temporary and will not be with the one forever. That is why they need to
be recognized while such Fortunes exist, but one should not allow oneself to become attached or
dependent upon such items. He contradicts Plato s platform stating, I hate being told to have our
minds above the clouds while our bodies are at the dinner table, (Montaigne 1257 1258). Plato, like
Socrates, believes in only focusing on what cannot be taken from an individual. Montaigne is
beginning to break free of the mold previously set by other philosophers and does not accept their way
of thinking. Although he does believe that societies goods should not take over one s life it is crucial
to accept them to live the good life. Montaigne believes that all things in life were placed by Nature
gives all that is needed. Therefore, to ignore temporary material possessions is nothing more than to
break Nature s laws. (Montaigne

Song To The Siren Allusion
The allusion of the Sirens in each of the song lyrics given creates a mood revolving around
hopelessness. In both songs, the allusion reinforces the fact that the speaker wants something that they
cannot have, similar to the sailors and the Sirens. In Carolina, Eric Church sings, I d love to see my
mama/ Maybe go for a drive/ But I gotta play the star in some little town again tonight (Church). This
signifies the fact that the artist wants to go back to his hometown, but cannot, because his occupation
prevents him. In Song to the Siren, Tim Buckley cries out, ...let me enfold you/ Here I am, here I am,
waiting to hold you (Buckley). This lyric illustrates how the speaker longs to love and be loved by the

Speed Loss Lab Report
RECONSTRUCTION:
Pre Crash:
On 05 25 2015 at approximately 1940 hours, Vehicle 1 was westbound on County Road 672, east of
Dupree Road. The driver of Vehicle 1, for reasons unknown, drove off the north side of CR 672 and
onto a grassy shoulder. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to
the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a
southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated
slightly in a counterclockwise direction. As Vehicle 1 left the south road edge, Driver 1 again tried to
overcorrect and began to rotate in a clockwise direction, as he drove onto the grassy shoulder.

I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss
was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the
overall speed loss for Vehicle 1.
After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to
rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss
over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be
considered.
I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police
Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for
a vehicle furrowing.
For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the
angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances
during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to
the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to
29.50 miles per hour during

Compare And Contrast Tang Dynasty And Empires
Different Dynasty and empires
The Silk Road in the Han Dynasty
Initially, the silk was traded within the empire, from the interior to the western borders. The small
Central Asian Tribes often attacked caravans which made the Han Government to take safety
measures for trade by sending General Zhang Qian (200 114 BC) as a representative to build a strong
bond with these nomadic states.
The trade relations were build up with these small but important kingdoms of Chang an (Xi an), the
Western Han Dynasty s capital (206 BC 220 AD) and with Zhang reaching Loulan, Qiuzi, and Yutian.
Zhang s generals went even further into Central Asia. All of the kingdoms Zhang and his delegation

Later on, the Tuque Tribe was captured by The Tang Dynasty, the route was revived, and further
promoted trading which resulted affluently in trade with the West.
During this period, the Silk Road was travelled by a famous Chinese monk Xuanzang (602 664), who
began his journey from Chang an (today s Xi an), covering the area west of Yellow River the Hexi
Corridor, Hami (Xinjiang Region), and Turpan (Xinjiang Region) and continued westward to India.
The Silk Road in the Yuan Dynasty
During the Yuan Dynasty (1271 1368) Silk Road revived its trade to a summit, when China became
largely reliant on its silk trade. Genghis Khan occupied all the minor states, amalgamated China, and
erected a huge empire under his law.
Marco Polo (1254 1324) visited Dadu (now Beijing), the capital of Yuan while roaming along the Silk

board) which was issued by the Yuan Government to the merchants in a view to save their trade and

The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay
The Specialization Business
Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution
based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization
model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step
beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue
that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on
a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and
techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal
barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the
freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization models, but I
classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must protect their secrets yet clone
themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary
knowledge. McDonalds, Chick Fil A, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very
specialized formulas and techniques that even to this day are exceptionally protected. Completely
opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer platform firms like Oracle can also be considered
specialization businesses and also have their own secrets to

Is Liberal Internationalism Utopian, Or Does It Offer A...
PIED 1511 International Politics Is Liberal internationalism utopian , or does it offer a credible
alternative to Realism? Word count: 2,913 Seminar Tutor: Khalina Zhekova Liberal internationalism
by its very essence is the idea of peaceful co operation in order to maintain both world order and
create harmony for its state to live in by democratic means. In R Gardner s The Comeback of Liberal
Internationalisms he defines this by very similar means, suggesting this political tradition relies on the
necessity of leadership by political democracies . Following the onset of the 20th century the
international political sphere has been characterised by the creations of institutions which have sought
to establish a democratic peace and in many ways often failing to do so. The inability to prevent some
of the most violent conflicts of the last 120 years is perhaps central to the critique that liberal
internationalism should be deemed as far too idealistic in a modern world. In an increasingly familiar
landscape of tyrannical, dangerous leaders it is perhaps unsurprising that the realist school of thought
has come to dominate academic analysis of the current world situation. It would be hard to disagree
with the notion that liberal internationalism is simply not the solution for the problems which still
exist within the world today when you consider the level of ideological disagreement which is
consistently played out upon the world stage. While all

NW Singers And Chamber Choir Essay
NW Singers and Chamber Choir Concert Report For this assignment, I decided to attend the NW
Singers and Chamber Choir performance. The reason why I chose this option over the others is
because I ve always found organized vocal music to be very beautiful. Listening to music that uses
only the human voice is striking and has a certain personal feel to it. I also feel that I can relate more
to choir music, as I am in the choir at my church. This concert was directed by Ms. Susanne Spencer
VanDyke, accompanied by Dr. Saundra Bishop on the piano.
My favorite selection from the program was the one preformed last that night I Sing Because I m
Happy. I chose this as my favorite because of its upbeat happy feel. Its cheerful tune almost lead
people in the audience to start dancing.
The two musical elements from this selection that stood out to me the most were its dynamics and
tempo. The choir and piano would often employ softer and louder dynamics throughout the
performance. There were times when they would repeat the phrase I m so happy yes, softer, then
slowly increase into a much louder and more powerful repeat, giving it a sense of a buildup of joy.
Next is the tempo. It seems as though the tempo in this piece would sometimes change, moving from a
faster to slower rate to, again, most likely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Analysis
World war II in Germany was a dull time for the Jews, hence they were discriminated against by the
germans. Ethnicity plays a big role in this movie because it is the reason that the Jews are locked away
in the concentration camps. The movie is a representation of Political Power becomes Personal
Authority (Nichols, 2010, P.275) in the sense that Aldorf Hitler took advantage of the vulnerable Jews.
This essay will discuss the differences between the Jews and Germans during WW II through race and
ethnicity. This will be supported from examples in the two scenes chosen, book vocabulary, as well as
the formal and social content to analyze the scenes. The movie The boy in the Striped Pajamas: is
about an 8 year old, privileged German boy named Bruno, who loves exploring, is forced to move
away from Berlin with his family to the Countryside during World War II. This is because, his father
has just gotten promoted to Commandment by Hitler himself and was asked to live closer to the
concentration camps. Bruno starts exploring the new area, and soon finds this barbed wired area where
he meets a Jewish boy named Shmuel. Shmuel is held in the concentration camps, however Bruno
does not find out the truth until the near end of the movie. Bruno and Shmuel form an undesirable
bond that later in the movie causes many tragical events. Throughout the two scenes I have chosen to
discuss, there are some similarities. First and foremost, these similarities include, the main idea of

Case Study Gayle s Redesign Of Care
CARE is a leading nongovernmental organization (NGO) that combats global poverty by reinforcing
local communities with the equipment and resources required to do so. When Dr. Helene Gayle took
control of CARE a decade ago, she inherited an organization that was highly decentralized. According
to Dr. Gayle, this decentralization undermined CARE s effectiveness as individual offices were used
to being on their own and were not thinking about the greater whole. Dr. Gayle was therefore tasked
with the organizational redesign of CARE.1 Differentiation and integration are key to the
organizational redesign process. Unfortunately, both are sometimes contradicting strategies. The

This oversight would enable CARE with greater ability to measure results and evaluate effectiveness.3
This change will inescapably pose a challenge to CARE. Administrative oversight will inevitably be
viewed by the individual offices as a threat to the status quo they have long enjoyed. Such a change
could lead to a decrease in employee commitment and potentially create employee resentment. It is
necessary to align CARE s existing structures, roles, and functions to the organization s new
objectives. Failing to do so will foster confusion and inefficiency which will reduce employee
commitment to the redesign process. CARE must focus on effectively communicating this process to
all levels of the organization in order to prevent a reduction on employee

The Power Of The National Territory
Taking in account Max Weber definition of a successful state, a failed state can be defined as a state
fully incapable of exercising power within its boundaries, its failure to provide basic goods to its
citizens, such as political and social needs, and incapable of exercising the monopoly of the legitimate
use of physical force. Although in a weak states, like Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, the state is still
able to provide some political goods to its citizens and exercise power in much of the national
territory, in a failed state this is not the case. The failed state is indeed unable to provide basic and
economic needs to its citizens. The nature of the failed state varies across geographical regions,
colonial history, and political circumstances. However, they share some economic and political
features. Human insecurity pervades in every aspects of a failed state, from social tensions to civil
wars, from geography to corruption and external actors, whose presence in many cases proceeds to
worsen situations. The vast majority of failed states lack in security and violate most of the human
rights of their citizens while at the same time fail to ensure basic social services. Moreover, failed
states are characterized by huge inequalities. The gap between the rich and the poor is extremely high,
where just a small percentage lives wealthy, while the vast majority of the population starves
everyday. Elite models deliver financial rewards only to favourite families, clans

Henry David Thoreau and Martin Luther King, Jr. s Justification of Defying Unjust Laws
In his famous essay, Letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King, Jr. cites conscience as a guide
to obeying just laws and defying unjust laws. In the same way, Henry David Thoreau wrote in his
famous essay, Civil Disobedience, that people should do what their conscience tells them and not obey
unjust laws. The positions of the two writers are very close; they use a common theme of conscience,
and they use a similar rhetorical appeal of ethos. In Civil Disobedience Thoreau claims that men
should act from their conscience. Thoreau believed it was the duty of a person to disobey the law if his
conscience says that the law is unjust. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He disagreed with other American people who believed the majority should change the law first
because it is a worse thing to disobey the law than to do what an unjust law says to do. Thoreau wrote
that breaking the unjust laws is better: Break the law. Let your life be a counter friction to stop the
machine (Thoreau, P. 18). However, Thoreau did not think people should be criminals. He thinks a
criminal is a person who disobeys the law but will not be responsible for that. If a person disobeys an
unjust law, Thoreau thinks that the person must do that, so all people can see he is disobeying the law
because it is unjust. Then the person must accept what happens to him for disobeying the law.
Thoreau wrote that people must be willing to go to jail if they want to change a law by disobeying the
law. Thoreau went to jail instead of paying for his taxes because he believed the government used the
money for unjust things. This is how Henry Thoreau thinks people can change unjust laws. He thought
that if people willingly would to go to jail and quit their jobs, then the revolution will take a place and
reform will come. Thoreau was willing to go to jail to change unjust laws because of his conscience.
King s position on unjust laws was very close to Thoreau s position on unjust laws. In his famous
letter written when he was in jail, Letter from Birmingham Jail, King wrote to the ministers who did
not like his protests to desegregate the city of

Asian American And Asian Americans Asian Americans are a very diverse group in the United States, which include many races such as Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Indian, and many more. Birth country, ancestry, and family heritage are ways to categorize this specific group. According to the 2010 Census, the Asian American population has grown faster than any other group from 2000 to 2010 (Pew Research, 2012). Asian Americans are either immigrants from Asia or are descendants of immigrants. Asian Americans have an extensive history in the United States, starting from the early 19th Century, when many people arrived to work in agriculture, construction, and low wage jobs. Not until 60 years ago were foreign born Asian Americans permitted to become U.S. citizens (Pew Research, 2012). The number of Asian Americans in the Unites States continues to increase, and the top six U.S. Asian groups include, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, and Japanese (Pew Research, 2012). How do Asian Americans in the United States identity? Do they identify as being American, Asian, or a specific ethnic group? It is interesting to see how different people identify themselves. According to Pew Research, a small percentage of Asian Americans, 14 percent, identify themselves as being American, while only 1 in 5 people describe themselves as being Asian (2012). Therefore, the rest of the population identifies themselves by their country of origin. I argue that all Asian Americans identify differently and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These defense mechanisms can easily be identified across various cultures and time periods and appear throughout various types of literature. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many times, when experiencing such a trauma, people or objects may develop a more profound meaning to an individual than they previously possessed. According to psychologists, if one defends their actions with displacement, they may allow others to become a symbol of their wrongdoings or their aspirations (McLeod). This enables the struggling individual to channel their focus towards a new symbol rather than towards what actually deserves the wrath of their spirit. Hosseini clearly demonstrates this effect in his literature; Hassan rises above the immaturity and reaches out to Amir in the months following his assault. Amir disregards Hassan s emotions and harasses him when they sit together underneath a pomegranate tree. He begins taking his anger out on his Hazara, and [he] hit[s] him with another pomegranate... Hit me back! [he] [spits]. Hit me back, goddamn you! (Hosseini 92). In Amir s mind, Hassan embodies exactly what he strives to be: loyal, honest, and strong. His inability to assume such a persona results in resentment toward Hassan and enables Hassan to symbolize Amir s failure. Amir, yet again, displaces his unhappiness regarding his own actions upon Hassan by beating him with the fruits, rather than damaging his own ego. Hence, Amir obviously responds to difficult situations and his inner conflicts using displacement, because he channels the anger he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, by the end of this war, there were six hundred thousand Jews in Palestinian territory, which created a coexistence tension. This has been clearly stated beginning with Socrates, stating how each life should be lived with self purpose: no outside influences. The artificial goods represent that of wealth, status, and political power, whereas what an individual should cherish is their own personal beliefs and convictions. All items that society has taught a person to hold and respect create more damage and disruption than they benefit as they can easily be taken from oneself. He believes that every person has the craving for knowledge, but that each can only learn a limited amount about Nature and how it operates. Montaigne later says, In her [Nature] promises and threats there is great uncertainty, variability and obscurity, (Montaigne 1243). Knowledge is so limited to each individual because Nature is constantly changing; changing what it has to offer at any given time. It is not right or fair to live a life in which no material items are cherished or respected. It is necessary to acknowledge that objects such as wealth, power, and social status allow for a more comfortable life. However, like Boethius, Montaigne also accepts that these material possessions are only temporary and will not be with the one forever. That is why they need to be recognized while such Fortunes exist, but one should not allow oneself to become attached or dependent upon such items. He contradicts Plato s platform stating, I hate being told to have our minds above the clouds while our bodies are at the dinner table, (Montaigne 1257 1258). Plato, like Socrates, believes in only focusing on what cannot be taken from an individual. Montaigne is beginning to break free of the mold previously set by other philosophers and does not accept their way of thinking. Although he does believe that societies goods should not take over one s life it is crucial to accept them to live the good life. Montaigne believes that all things in life were placed by Nature gives all that is needed. Therefore, to ignore temporary material possessions is nothing more than to break Nature s laws. After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be considered. IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for a vehicle furrowing. For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. Like the solution based model, the specialization model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Word count: 2,913 Seminar Tutor: Khalina Zhekova Liberal internationalism by its very essence is the idea of peaceful co operation in order to maintain both world order and create harmony for its state to live in by democratic means. In R Gardner s The Comeback of Liberal Internationalisms he defines this by very similar means, suggesting this political tradition relies on the necessity of leadership by political democracies . Following the onset of the 20th century the international political sphere has been characterised by the creations of institutions which have sought to establish a democratic peace and in many ways often failing to do so. The inability to prevent some of the most violent conflicts of the last 120 years is perhaps central to the critique that liberal internationalism should be deemed as far too idealistic in a modern world. In an increasingly familiar landscape of tyrannical, dangerous leaders it is perhaps unsurprising that the realist school of thought has come to dominate academic analysis of the current world situation. It would be hard to disagree with the notion that liberal internationalism is simply not the solution for the problems which still exist within the world today when you consider the level of ideological disagreement which is consistently played out upon the world stage.
