Sex, Gender, Racial Identity, And Stereotyping And...
Art has an interesting way of reinforcing itself through popular culture in western society. A culture
that has a population mixed with many different racial identities, yet cultivates its pop culture through
a black and white preface. The U.S is known to categorize diverse races into one; highlighting the
inferiority other races face while living within our culture. Women have been idealized and
compounded into western society as sex symbols and housewives. Women from other races non white
or Black are not only seen the same way, but are also included in the melting pot of diluted racial
identities formatted from whitening groups. Racial identity hardly sways the expectations in Women
that society sees as normal; rather it highlights the racial discrimination we reinforce in western
culture that derives from improper stereotyping and labeling. Historically, women are subject to
unbound methods of reinforcing gender roles. Today, their sexuality is exploited so frequently in
popular culture, that they have become a sex object, rather than a housewife. Tom Fords image of a
naked female ironing men s pants grasps the concept of both stereotypes, appealing to the young
adults in the United States. Initially, this ad promotes the ideology of mans superiority over women.
Understanding how gender is really portrayed in western popular culture allows individuals to
conceptualize the inferior attitude many ads display towards women. Through methods of observation,

Order Code RS22814 February 21, 2008 FDA Fast Track and Priority Review Programs Susan Thaul
Specialist in Drug Safety and Effectiveness Domestic Social Policy Division Summary By statutory
requirements and by regulation, guidance, and practice, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
works with several overlapping yet distinct programs to get to market quickly new drug and biological
products that address unmet needs. FDA most frequently uses three mechanisms for that purpose:
Accelerated Approval, Fast Track, and Priority Review. The first two affect the development process

105 115) directed the Secretary to create a mechanism whereby FDA could designate as Fast Track
certain products that met two criteria. First, the product must concern a serious or life threatening
condition; second, it has to have the potential to address an unmet medical need. Once FDA grants a
Fast Track designation, it encourages the manufacturer to meet with the agency to discuss
development plans and strategies before the formal submission of an NDA/BLA. The early interaction
can help clarify elements of clinical study design and presentation whose absence at NDA/BLA
submission could delay approval decisions. However, FDA makes similar interactions available to any
sponsor who seeks FDA consultation throughout the stages of drug development. A unique option
within Fast Track is the opportunity to submit sections of an NDA/BLA to FDA as they are ready,
rather than the standard requirement to submit a complete application at one time.4 2 Other options fit
very limited situations and support shorter times from idea to approved public use. The Animal
Efficacy Rule (21 CFR 314 Subpart I and 21 CFR 601 Subpart H) allows submission of data from
animal studies of effectiveness as evidence to support applications of certain new products when
adequate and well controlled clinical studies in humans cannot be ethically conducted and field
efficacy studies are not feasible. The Project

The History Of Egypt And The Seven Wonders Of The World
Egypt is a fascinating country with a long and dark history. Many historical events have taken place in
Egypt ranging from 4000 BCE through the present. Egypt also plays a major role in the biblical aspect
in history as well. Significant achievements from Imhotep; a remarkable architect and physician, to
Moses freeing the slaves from the Pharos. Pyramids that were built between 2700 BCE 2500 BCE
remain one of the Seven Wonders of the World and still stand today. Egypt has been ruled by many
and suffered through many conflicts. Through the preservation of sculptures, architectural designs,
and human intelligence Egypt shows to be a culture of its own; and different from many.
Egypt, a country in the North East part of Africa covers an area of 1,001,450 square kilometers
(386,599 square miles) having no territories. Located in the North Eastern hemisphere and is larger
than three times the state of New Mexico with most of the country consumed by the Sarah Desert.
There are two major bodies of water offering gateways of commerce, the Red Sea to the east and the
Mediterranean Sea to the north. The Nile River stretches across Egypt from north to south and covers
1600 kilometers (992 miles) making this the longest river in the World. This river is also home to the
notorious and famous Nile River crocodile. The Aswan High Dam along the Nile River is one the

The Impact Of Hiring A Crc On Patients, Physicians,...
A Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) is a research professional working under the immediate
direction of a clinical Principal Investigator (PI). While the PI is primarily responsible for the overall
design, execution, and management of the clinical trial, the CRC supports, facilitates, and coordinates
the daily clinical activities and plays a crucial role in the conduct of a clinical study. This business
case will highlight the role of Clinical Research Coordinators and the impact hiring a CRC will have
on the success of a clinical trial. Results will be used to determine the viability and financial feasibility
for hiring a clinical research coordinator. The scope of this business case will highlight the impact of
hiring a CRC on patients, physicians, provider sites, and clinical trials. Decision makers will
understand the costs and benefits of CRC staffing and will use this guide in their hiring process.
2.2 Opportunity
The current market for clinical research trials is evolving towards increasing productivity in clinical
trials. There is a demand for cost effective, faster, and more efficient clinical trial processes. Clinician
and regulatory agencies are requiring more data from clinical trials, increasing the complexity of
clinical trials. Trends towards complex clinical trials have created a demand for increasing clinical
trial staffing. In addition, companies aiming for more successful clinical trials have had an impact on
staffing. Since 2008,

Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and...
Assessing the Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and Knowledge Brokering To
Improve Business Process Performance Introduction The depth and value of tacit knowledge an
organization has within its own structure and surrounding ecosystem is significant and potentially
transformative in its value. Combined with the explicit knowledge organizations possess, which
according to empirically derived studies, is just 30% of total knowledge captured (Wilhelm,
Kohlbacher, 2011), organizations have latent potential to improve processes yet are not capturing it.
The role of Information Aggregation Mechanisms (IAM) (Chen, Plott, 2002), prediction markets and
methodologies (Dye, 2008), and the potential to transform businesses processes with this collective
intelligence (Billington, Davidson, 2010) is the focus of this analysis. Insights gained from the
literature review leading up to this study indicate that a more precise form of crowdsourcing is
emerging gaining insights into recurring and predictive oriented events (Dye, 2008). The emergence of
hidden profiles or concentrated groups of experts who have the majority of tacit knowledge an
organization requires to innovate are starting to emerge in the work retailer BestBuy is doing for
example (Dye, 2008). The power of the IAM mechanisms combined with collective intelligence to
completely re order an industry can be seen in the emergence of Linux as the open source platform of
choice for many enterprises globally

Sisterhood Of Night Analysis
So this weekend we had the release of The Visit a sort of mock umentary about two kids first visit to
their grandparents house and all the disturbing occurrences that take place while they re there.
Becca played by Olivia Dejonge (The Sisterhood of Night) is our leading lady holding the camera, she
want s to make a documentary of her and her younger brother Tyler s; Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes,
Alexander and the Horrible Terrible No Good Very Bad Day) first visit to their grandparents house.
Why you ask? That s a good question. Thiers mother played by Kathryn Hahn (Bad Words, The Secret

with her parents years ago. She left home and hasn t spoken with her parent s since so Becca want s to

just a slight case of dementia because there s also Pop pop s paranoia with thinking he s being

the property, their strange talk of needing to please the little aliens or being chased by yellow eyed

understatement! As the week long visit progresses it becomes abundantly clear to both Becca and

African American Marginalization Analysis
What was the most definitive legislative act of marginalization directed at African Americans prior to
1865?
In my view it s clear which legislative act marginalized African Americans the most, and would have
to be the implementation of lifelong servitude Virginia enacted in 1661. This legislation would shape
this country s use of slave labor and begin the process of marginalizing African Americans. Now there
are a number of other terribly oppressive pieces of legislation that would further marginalize African
Americans but it seems like this first act was decisive in that it normalized the use of slaves through its
ever expanding interpretation. I did not realise that before reading the chapter four in the The Ethnic
Dimension[1] on page ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the various supreme court decisions found in the module 4 Pertinent Supreme Court Decisions , like
Korematsu v. United States 1944, which ruled that the need to protect against espionage outweighed
Fred Korematsu s individual rights and the rights of Americans of Japanese descent. This was clearly
an event that marginalized so many during World War II and in my opinion directly conflicted with the

Golden Age Of Islam Dbq Analysis
During the Golden Age of Islam, scientific and mathematical ideas were developed, later spreading
through different regions. There were numerous factors that helped contribute to the spread of
knowledge and ideas. Three primary factors were the education system, the production of paper and
the prosperity of unification of oral language. One condition needed for the spread of math and
science in the Islamic Empire was their way of education. The Muslims were encouraged by the
Prophet Muhammad to seek learning even as far as China. (Doc A). This means, that no matter where
the muslims were, they were challenged to learn all the way to China, which was a big step for early
learning. The Prophet Muhammad also proposed a more scientific way of education. To try and help
for cures to diseases, as Muhammad once said... For every disease, Allah has given a cure . This
shows that seeing the Muslims knew that they all had cures, but they had to find them... which is what
a lot of them did. This attitude towards education shaped Islam, and led them further into education.
This was one of the conditions that helped develop and spread mathematical and scientific ideas in the
Golden Age of Islam. Another condition needed for the spread of math and science in the Islamic

Neil Armstrong As A Hero
This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind. (Neil Armstrong). In the 1960s, the race
began between America and the Soviet Union to see who could be the first to launch humans to the
moon. Several years later, America achieved a goal that was believed unlikely and almost impossible a
few years earlier. During the 1960 s Neil Armstrong changed the world and became an American hero.
Neil Armstrong had a long journey before he got to take those first steps on the moon. As a child, he
moved with his family to several Ohio communities before they settled in Wapakoneta when Neil was
13 years old ( Armstrong, Neil Alden ). Neil Armstrong s family moved a lot around Ohio until they
finally found a place to settle. Neil was only 13 years old. Moving could have made it hard for
Armstrong to make friends and he could have had a hard time dealing with school. Also, according to
www.notablebiographies.com, Neil Armstrong was the oldest of three children. He had a sister named
June and a brother named Dean. His parent s names were Stephen and Viola Armstrong. His sister
June, was four years younger than him. Later on, In 1947, Armstrong entered Purdue University. He
began studies in aeronautical engineering. But in 1949, the United States Navy called him to active
duty. Armstrong became a Navy pilot and was sent to Korea in 1950, near the start of the Korean
War.In 1952, Armstrong returned to Purdue. He earned a bachelor s degree in aeronautical engineering
there in 1955. Also in 1970, he earned a master s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of
Southern California ( Armstrong, Neil Alden ). Before Neil Armstrong finished school, he was in the
Navy, but cared enough about his education to continue it 2 years later. He even returned to school 15
years later. This lead to him getting a master s degree and a bachelor s degree. The beginning of
Armstrong s life led to many different accomplishments for his time. Neil Armstrong had many life
accomplishments other than walking on the moon.To begin, Neil Armstrong is known for being the
first man to walk on the moon, making American history. Worldbookonline.com states that Armstrong,

An Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Koziol 9
Creating Life
To say that fiction or fantasy relies solely on the imagination, would lessen the importance that the
personal lives of many fantasy writers plays on the conception of a story. For Mary Shelley, her life
was the basis and inspiration, maybe subconsciously, of her very first, and arguably most famous
novel, Frankenstein. Through the influences of people and events, Mary Shelley was able to write
about friendship and alienation in Frankenstein.
The creation of life is at the center of the novel, and the creation of Mary s life plays a big part in who
she was from birth until her death. Mary was born in 1797 to William Godwin and Mary
Wollstonecraft.1 William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft were both very ... Show more content on

When Mary was fourteen, she was sent to Scotland to stay with Mr. William Baxter. Mary was glad to
get away from her step mother in London. This time was the beginning of Mary s life as a writer.
Mary recollected, . . . as the daughter of two persons of distinguished literary celebrity, I should very
early in life have thought of writing. . . my favourite pastime . . . was to write stories . 5 Mary was
educated by tutors at home, in the writings of her parents and in foreign language.6 Her time in
Scotland was full of leisure, so Mary began to compose stories.7 She thought back on her time there
with fondness and comfort. When Mary returned home to London, her house on Skinner Street was
constantly busy with different writers and thinkers who came to sit and talk with Godwin. Percy
Bysshe Shelley was an admirer of Godwin s, and wrote to him in request to be a regular houseguest.
Godwin agreed and Shelley began to go daily to Skinner Street with his then wife, Harriet.8 Shelley
was a well read young man who had been kicked out of Oxford University for a piece he did in
support of atheism. He was a breath of fresh air to Mary. Mary at the time was about the age of
seventeen. She enjoyed her father s company, but the men were much older than she was. Shelley was
only twenty one, and Mary was physically attracted to him.9 Mary would take books to her mother s

The Brothers Grimm s Cinderella
Life lessons stick with people throughout their life even if they re derived from children s stories.
There are valuable lessons in three versions of Cinderella, a beloved fairy tale around the world.
Grimm s version of Cinderella published in 1812 was a very momentous tale among youngins in
Germany. Korea s version of Cinderella published in 1990 was a widespread tale amount children in
Korea. Disney s depiction of Cinderella was a popular tale amount kids in America. In each variation
of Cinderella Grimm, Korea, and Disney one valuable theme stands out among all others.
The Brothers Grimm version of Cinderella displays and proves a very simple but meaningful theme: if
you do everything that you are asked to do you will be rewarded in the end. Before the readers could
realize that this was the theme of the story the Grimm Brothers explained how the evil stepmom made
Cinderella do extra work so she couldn t go to the ball, even though Cinderella did all the work her
evil stepmother kept giving more and more so she definitely could not go to the ball. This theme was

Patriot Act Research Paper
It is a great pleasure to writing to you today. I am a citizen of the United States who attends Jamaica

Act? Well, the thing is I understand plenty, as a matter of fact I agree with the Patriot Act to a certain
extent. I personally believe that the Patriot Act is a great concept that reinforces the protection of the

To my understanding the U.S Constitution is a number of principles that are supposed to be
acknowledged by the U.S. I do not believe that the Patriot Act is obeying these principles; as a matter
of fact it violates several amendments that are in the Constitution. According to the highlights of the
Patriot act, Allowing males of Middle Eastern or South Asian descent to be profiled as potential
terrorists, without probable cause... This allows any person who is of Middle Eastern or South Asian
decent that lives in the U.S to be acknowledged as a terrorist without any evidence at all. This is
completely inhumane and causes major problems in society. It mainly forces countless individuals of
the U.S to live in fear just because of their ethnic background. Now, this is just one of the many
problems of the Patriot Act. According to Eric Lichtblau, ... [The Government] demand records from
institutions like libraries and medical offices; and use a broad definition of terrorism in pursuing
suspects... This demonstrates the violation of the 4th amendment, which states, ... unreasonable
searches and seizures shall not be violated... (Amendments to the Constitution). Essentially, I do
understand and believe in the concept of the Patriot Act, however, I don t find it to be relevant if it is
mainly contradicting the U.S

Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay
Ophelia and Hamlet
In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time, Hamlet,
the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy should be.
Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each generation
appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to Aristotle s definition
of a tragedy, one question still lingers. Did Shakespeare intend for the reader or viewer of Hamlet to
feel greater sympathy for Hamlet, or for Ophelia, Hamlet s lover? Both characters tug at the
heartstrings throughout the play, but it is clear that the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark is a
misrepresentation of Shakespeare s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems clear that Ophelia, in her madness, knows what others may be. She has become enlightened
in her insanity. Unfortunately, because of her suicide, Ophelia is never given the chance to know what
she herself might have been. Clearly though, Ophelia does change greatly from act 1 to act 4. She
transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and knowing woman. What
brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the aforementioned attempted education
by Ophelia s brother, Laertes.
When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just
Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines 14
18:
... Perhaps he loves you now,
And now no soil nor cautel doth besmirch
The virtue of his will, but you must fear,
His greatness weighed, his will is not his own,
or he himself is subject to his birth. (1.3.14 18)
According to Laertes, Hamlet could not possibly love Ophelia because his is a prince and Ophelia a
mere maid. Hamlet is bound by his regency to love and marry a princess of equal rank and stature. In
lines 30 33, Laertes preaches the importance of Ophelia s chastity:
If with too credent ear you list his songs,
Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open
To his unmustered importunity.
Fear it, Ophelia, fear it, my dear

Definition Of Income Inequality
In my opinion, one of the most controversial topic in the recent election was Income Inequality. The
real reason people are unable to talk others into believing them when they argue on the Income
Equality is because not everyone knows the correct definition of Income Inequality. Income inequality
means unequal distribution of household and income in the economy. Income inequality is also
presented as the percentage of income to a percentage of the population ( Income Inequality ) which
means the difference between the amounts of money each family spend on themselves. On the other
hand, economic inequality is measured among groups in the population or between countries.
(Wikipedia, Economic inequality ) In my opinion, income inequality is a problem that is faced by
every country, but it is not a problem that should be tackled immediately. The rich are money making
machines. Today, the top mega wealthy the top 1% earn an average of $1.3 million a year. It s more
than three times as much as the 1980s, when the rich only made $428,000; on average... Meanwhile,
the bottom 50% of the American population earned an average of $16,000 in pre tax income in 1980.
That hasn t changed in over three decades (Long, Inequality in America is getting worse); state that
the way the United States economy has been it is a home of many rich people. One of the downsides
of living in US that top 1% earning are increasing dramatically every year, whereas the bottom 50% of

three main reasons. These include high cost of generating nuclear power, health effects of radiation
and long term impact of radioactive waste on the environment as well as present its disadvantages and
compare it to renewable energy sources of solar power and wind power.
Public perception on nuclear energy is much influenced by subjective impressions mostly formed
through sensational and dramatic news of mass media or anti nuclear groups. However, nuclear
experts, those who have more relevant knowledge and information about nuclear energy, may have
reasonable opinion based on scientific facts or inferences. Thus their opinion and consensus should be
examined and taken into account during the process of nuclear energy policy formulation. For the
purpose of eliciting experts opinion, the web based on line survey system (eBOSS) was developed.
Using the survey system, experts views on nuclear energy were tallied, analyzed and compared with
the public s. Based on the survey results, the paper suggests some recommendations about the future
direction of the public information program in Korea.

The Issue Of The Fourteenth Amendment
The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified in 1868 and the amendment was put in place to protect
former slaves and their rights in life. The most important part of the amendment reads, No state shall
deprive a person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person... the
equal protection of the laws. This simple statement has one of the most profound and incredible parts
of the United States today. The equal protection of the laws show that there must be equal treatment
for all citizens regardless of race, class, or gender. Although there has been many racial events
happening after this amendment was passed this clause still stands to today and has helped shape the
United States for the better. Having this clause in the Fourteenth Amendment protects the little guy
and makes sure that everyone has the same ability to do whatever everyone else is doing. The book
states that The battle for civil rights generally includes seven stages. The group seeking rights must
define itself; it must challenge society and change the cultural story. The contest for the rights spills
across federalism; the executive branch can break the ice. Congress is the key to deep social change;
the courts are the final arbiters of civil rights. These seven stages are: 1) A group defines itself 2) The
group challenges society 3) The stories change 4) Federalism comes into play 5) The executive branch
often breaks the ice 6) Congress legislature a blockbuster 7) It all

Jane is often irritated from the wallpaper in her room. The wallpaper above her bed is stripped off and
this bothers her immensely. She claims, I never saw a worse paper in my life (4). In fact, she hates it
with great passion by saying no wonder the children hated it! I should hate it myself if I had to live in
this room long (4). She refers back to the children from her imagination, the children that were living
in the so called nursery before her. Towards the end of the story, Jane learns to hate the room as a
result of spending so much of her time in there. She is really disturbed from the patterns of the
wallpaper. Jane comments on the patterns, as a constant irritant to a normal mind (12) because she
thinks that she has a normal mind. The color is repellent, that is, almost revolting. She says that it is
dull enough to confuse the eye in following, pronounced enough to constantly irritate and provoke
study, and when you follow the lame uncertain curves for a little distance they suddenly commit
suicide (4).
According to Freud, Jane is clearly hallucinating when she says that the lines on the wallpaper
suddenly commit suicide (6). She is greatly annoyed and bothered by the way it looks. Jane sees a
vision of death in the paper. There is a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken neck and
two bulbous eyes stare at you upside down (6). Her imagination of the wallpaper leads her to see a
dead person. As

Ruining Vehicles
Detailing a vehicle can be overwhelming for some people, but really there are three easy steps: pre
clean, wash, and protect. The first step is the pre clean in this step you will rinse the outside of the
vehicle. You will also remove the big dirt from the interior along with any trash. The reason for rinsing
the outside of the vehicle is to remove the large dirt so that it does not scratch the paint. Dirt is like
sand paper to the paint it will remove the clear coat causing the car to look dull. Rinsing the vehicle
also keeps the soap from drying when you start the washing process. In the interior you should remove
all the bigger trash so that it s not in the way when you go to vacuum or shampoo the interior. It also

Armenia Genocide Research Paper
Armenia became the first nation to accept Christianity as their religion. An era of great
accomplishments followed; a distinct alphabet, the flourishing of literature and art, and a unique style
of architecture. In the eleventh century a Turkish invasion happened in the Armenian homeland (
United Human Rights Council ). The Ottoman Empire came to power in the thirteenth century, but
became one of the most powerful states in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and by this time,
Armenia has been caught up in it (Yapp). In the eighteen hundreds the Ottoman Empire was in a
serious decline. Greeks, Serbs and Romanians had achieved their independence, while the Armenians
and Arabs remained stuck in the bankrupt empire, that was now under the rule of the autocratic Sultan
Abdul Hamid II ( United Human Rights Council ). Armenians were not treated equally and had to deal
with certain type of treatments and hardships ( Armenian Genocide ). Armenians began to press for
political forms for the right to vote and to end the discriminatory practices such as the special taxes

India After Ww1
The question for this investigation is: How did WW1 affect India s social development with Great
Britain? India played a key part in World War One; however, their contribution to Great Britain is
severely overlooked. They began pushing towards a more self government approach and this began
impacting their relations with Britain. Expecting to be rewarded for their efforts, India assisted Britain
in the war by sending millions of volunteers to the Western Front; thus began their alliance goals with
them. Near the end of the war, they began realizing that self government they pictured wasn t going to
happen, so tensions began rising towards the Independence movement with Mahatma Gandhi and the
efforts towards Civil Disobedience. Sources in relevance were Letter from Gandhi to the Viceroy,
Lord Irwin, 2 March 1930. No. 77 and The Lord Pethick Lawrence s Britain s India Policy. There ...

tension India has with them since they do not approve of their constrictive efforts and lack of

British policy and outlines the effects this has on the people of India. This source is a valuable
example of a personal statement made by the leader of the Indian people and it introduces key
concepts as to why British rule is a curse. However, limitations to my investigation using this source
are that it may be biased since Gandhi is a Hindu reformer and this letter outlines his actions
personally not the entire nation. Another limitation is the time period in which the letter was written as
it could not meet the needs of the people and the sacrifice they made and wanting

Globalization Of The World, Advancement Of Technology And...
Introduction: Literature Review:
The globalization of the world, advancement of technology and sharing of information has led to an
increase of overseas students studying outside their home country (Sandhu Asrabadi, 1994). For
instance, the quest of seeking advanced knowledge and skills drove my personal pursuit of academic
knowledge in America and Britain, having been brought up and raised in Africa. Advanced technology
and sophisticated knowledge is part of the reason as to why students seek education outside their
home countries. Mori (2011) describes overseas students as transitioning individuals who opt to reside
in a foreign location in order to achieve their academic goals.

It is believed that this is a stage when young people attempt to find their independence and at the same
time struggle to become a productive member of society (Furham Trezise, 1983). Due to the demands
of cultural adjustments, overseas students are inclined to experience additional stressors compared to
other students (Mori, 2011). The response to stress for many students, as mentioned by Robotham
(2008), is poor academic performance especially among first year overseas students who are more
susceptible to stress. As a result of stress, physiological conditions such as impairment of immune
systems, heightened vulnerability to illnesses, physical tension, dysfunctions in pituitary adrenal
activities and cognitive fatigue can be experienced (Mori, 2011). Other adverse effects of stress
include increased alcohol consumption, smoking, heightened tendency to consider suicide and low
self esteem (Robotham, 2008).
Burns 2006, states that overseas students have a social, cultural and economic influence in the national
and local milieu, hence there is a need for their concerns to be meet if the society will benefit from
them. It is noteworthy to recognize that most of the past mental health research has been conducted in
America and Australia, while Britain has focused on non student immigrants (Furnham Trezise 1983).
However, previous studies reveal a shift of research

Summary Of A Red Girl s Reasoning
In the short story, A Red Girl s Reasoning by Pauline Johnson, Charlie and Christie s cultural
differences and personality flaws act as a catalyst towards the sudden downfall of their relationship.
This is demonstrated through Christie s excessive pride, Charlie s self absorption, and his lack of open
mindedness regarding his wife s Indigenous culture and perspective. To begin, Christie s stubborn and
prideful nature is exhibited throughout the story. This is evident when she defends her parents
marriage to Charlie s colleagues, Mrs. Stuart and Captain Logan, exclaiming, What do you [Captain
Logan] dare to mean? [...] Do you for one instant dare to question that my parents were not as legally
(Johnson 6) but is interrupted by Mrs. Stuart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charlie s constant concern over his reputation and public image further enforces his self centered
behaviour. Finally, Charlie s narrow mindedness regarding Christie s Indigenous culture is one of the
main causes of their tragic dispute. Although Charlie claims to have extensive knowledge of Christie s
Indigenous roots by [consummating] his predilections for Indianology by loving, winning, and
marrying the quiet little daughter of the English trader, who [...] had married a native woman (1), he
fails to recognize that her ancestral traditions are just as valid as his own. This close minded
perspective is shown when Charlie fails to defend his wife when she was explaining her parents Indian
marriage rites to Charlie s Christian colleagues. Furthermore, Charlie criticizes her father s decision to
not re marry in the Christian church, arguing that Christie s father was a fool not to insist upon the law

Descriptive Essay About Life
The Transformation
Anywhere you go can create memories, but can also become a part of you in one way or another.
Some of those places may have had an impact on a person s life that changed him or her as a person.
For others, some places may have a special meaning, teaching, or maybe because the best memories
were made in that special place. For me, the best memories and the one place that I always remember
is Woodburn Oregon. This city has so many good, happy, and bad memories that I still remember.
These memories bring back my childhood and how my perspective of life changed. As a young child,
growing up in Woodburn Oregon during the summer, I learned to not only appreciate everything I
have, but to also work hard to be successful.
Woodburn is a very beautiful, happy, and peaceful city that is full of nature. The city is surrounded by
amazing trees, buildings, flowers, parks, and much more. The city also has great restaurants, theaters,
museums and arcades. Woodburn also has amazing views and has great agricultural lands filled with
flowers such as, colorful tulips, and roses. I remember going by a land filled with bright yellow and
red tulips. As I was passing by, I remember smelling the sweet smell of the flowers and the fresh air.
The cold winds would make the flowers move, letting the sweat fragrance out and making the air
smell good. Now everytime I see a tulip, it reminds me of the huge lands filled with tulips. Woodburn
is a place in which most of the time it

Analysis Of Before I Fall
Before I Fall directed by Ry Russo Young and written by Maria Maggenti is a teen drama film
released in 2017 that is about a teenage girl who lives the same day over and over again. Despite
having a compelling lead performance played by Zoe Deutch and a powerful soundtrack full of
ballads, Before I Fall still took a turn with a generic plot line, choppy dialogue and cliché. Although I
loved the performance given by Deutch and how she was able to show the characters development
through emotions and her acting, that still doesn t mean the movie was perfect.

Sam s whole story is that she s a mean girl who realizes that maybe she shouldn t be mean to people.
(by the way it took her too long to figure out that maybe Juliet was the reason she was living the same

stop bullying Juliet or try to befriend her. Instead, she presents this half played, pitiful redemption that
leaves the audience thinking that it was an act of heroism (I begged a differ).
There are moments in Before I Fall where the dialogue lacked intelligence. It was almost as if the
director wanted to be quick and get to the point of creating a movie that deals with time loop, and not
think twice about whether the dialogue should make sense. There s a scene in the movie where Sam is
thinking back on the last 24 hours of her life before the car accident where her and the other three girls
are bullying Juliet, and then she says this line That was forever ago... that was yesterday. There were
reasons that the audience watching this film to think okay that doesn t make sense. Saying something

Humanitarian Intervention In The Rwanda Genocide
In addition to the moral reasons for humanitarian intervention, the increasingly globalized nature of
the world means that there are many practical benefits to reinforcing a country s responsibility to
protect it s people. In this day and age, isolationism is no longer a valid foreign policy strategy as the
actions of one country are inexorably linked to those surrounding it. From a revolution in
communications to increasingly efficient and affordable methods of high speed transport technology,
people are able to connect with others from all points on the planet. The proliferation of transnational
corporations have forged bonds between countries, and free trade agreements, like NAFTA and

In fact, many still attribute the instability and poverty of the Great Lakes region directly to the
Rwandan genocide and the long lasting scars it has left. Thus, the importance of intervention in events

crimes extend beyond just the people being targeted, but rather, affect the whole country, the whole

essential that intervention occurs before such events are allowed to run their devastating course. Along
with our moral responsibility to ensure that sovereign states do not use their sovereignty with

Alternative Rock Music
Music junkies, concert connoisseurs, and vinyl vigilantes everywhere need to know about the
similarities and differences between the alternative rock and indie rock genres. The genres alternative
and indie are terms sometimes used interchangeably, but their origins are indeed differing. There has
been a varying progression of media platforms used to listen to these genres among the past few
decades due to society s social and economic changes. In terms of instrumental progressions and
technological buildups in the music world, the instruments and stylings used to define these genres has
changed as well. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, alternative rock is defined as a style of
rock music characterized as unconventional, or outside the mainstream which resonated powerfully
with a generation weathering an economic recession. Conversely, Oxford explains the term indie as

Alternative rock emerged in the late 80 s and early 90 s when the United States was facing an
economic recession and in a post war state. The songs alternative rock artists wrote during this time
tended to be more melancholy in sound, and carry out the use of lyrics about the struggles society as a
whole, and the artists as individuals were facing due to this social and economic decline. These lyrics
were relatable for listeners and adequately helped them cope with the strife. These artists, more often

Colin Powell s Influence On The US
Colin Powell has been an influence on the American public since early in his military career, for
example, quickly rising up the ranks from second lieutenant to a four star general in the U.S. Army.
Kinder and McConnaughy (2006) describes Colin Powell as one of the most youthful African
American generals in the U.S. Armed Forces and in 1991 became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
under President George H.W. Bush. Powell became a national figure not just to African Americans,
but to the whole American public in the course of the effective Desert Shield and Desert Storm
operations in which ousted the Saddam Hussein Regime from Kuwait. According to Kinder and
McConnaughy (2006) General Powell sustained his position as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the
beginning of the Clinton administration. According to Harari (2002) during this period Powell s
intellectual prowess as a leader and follower are considerably more noticeable. Powell did not
necessarily follow all the time, for example, Lacayo and Van Voorst (1993) illustrate Powell
disagreeing with President Clinton to allow gay men and women to serve in the military and Powell
ultimately accepted a resolution on the matter. After Powell s left his military career he began other

East Asian Concept Of Human Nature
East Asian Concept of human nature
Introduction
The Eastern Asia region is diverse. It include: Buddhism, Confucianism, Islam, Taoism, Shinto and
Christianity. Confucianism and Buddhism and Taoism have dominated most parts of the region with
some states governing system being based on these religions. Chinese government, constitution and
the administration policies have been based on the ethics of Confucian traditions and ethics as well as
philosophy. Similar to the governing ethics in these region nations, the understanding of human nature
has been influenced by each of the religions and determines how the natives act according to the
respective beliefs. Religions have different explanations of human nature, which are based on the
philosophies of religion founder or the ethics. The question on nature of human beings has been raised
based on these religions. The nature of humanity has been proclaimed either as good or evil one.
Human beings are known to distinguish between what is good and discard what is bad. Such
knowledge constitutes morality in humanity, which authorizes the limit of interactions as well as
relations with other human beings. However, human being depending on the nature and degree of
understanding of their self, are limited to understanding what is right and discarding the wrong one.
Moreover, they must be guided in understanding what is right and shun the evil away. As
acknowledged by Confucius, human beings especially the males have a certain

Purpose Of Epic Theatre
Epic theatre is always intended for the actors quite as much as for the spectators. The essential reason
why the didactic play falls into a category of its own is that, through the exceptional austerity of its
apparatus, it facilitates and encourages the interchangeability of actors and audience, audience and
actors. Every spectator can become one of the actors . (Walter Benjamin). What do you discern as the
didactic element of Mother Courage and Her Children and how does it relate to dramatic form/
theatrical techniques?
Is Theatre for Pleasure or Theatre for Instruction?
Epic theatre refers to a form of drama that attracts spectator s mind more than his feelings. The term
was developed and adopted by Bertolt Brecht in Germany in 1920 s. Epic theatre presents a narrative
which turns the observer into spectator. The main aim of epic theatre is to arouse the spectator s
capacity to take action by provoking rational self reflection. Brecht has followed the epic theatre
because he realised that the traditional theatre of his time is inadequate for his purposes. Epic theatre
serves the purpose of social function. Through its narrative, Brecht presents social, political and
economic problems. His main aim is to invoke the audience into analysing the play rather than getting
attached with the characters or the plot. This form was empolyed by Brecht in his play Mother
Courage and Her Children which was performed in 1941. The play consists of twelve scenes that

However in this case, there exists a standardized and published code of ethics created by the ICMA to
provide consistency and uniformity with regard to professional local government management. In an
evolving and contradictory political climate such as that which existed in the town of Dover, the
principles expressed in this code of ethics serve as a fair and objective guideline by which difficult
decisions can be based on. Therefore, there should generally not be circumstances where ethical
considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or group s perception of the best
possible outcome for the community. Much like a constitution, the ICMA Code of Ethics gives

  • 2. Sex, Gender, Racial Identity, And Stereotyping And... Art has an interesting way of reinforcing itself through popular culture in western society. A culture that has a population mixed with many different racial identities, yet cultivates its pop culture through a black and white preface. The U.S is known to categorize diverse races into one; highlighting the inferiority other races face while living within our culture. Women have been idealized and compounded into western society as sex symbols and housewives. Women from other races non white or Black are not only seen the same way, but are also included in the melting pot of diluted racial identities formatted from whitening groups. Racial identity hardly sways the expectations in Women that society sees as normal; rather it highlights the racial discrimination we reinforce in western culture that derives from improper stereotyping and labeling. Historically, women are subject to unbound methods of reinforcing gender roles. Today, their sexuality is exploited so frequently in popular culture, that they have become a sex object, rather than a housewife. Tom Fords image of a naked female ironing men s pants grasps the concept of both stereotypes, appealing to the young adults in the United States. Initially, this ad promotes the ideology of mans superiority over women. Understanding how gender is really portrayed in western popular culture allows individuals to conceptualize the inferior attitude many ads display towards women. Through methods of observation, ... Review Order Code RS22814 February 21, 2008 FDA Fast Track and Priority Review Programs Susan Thaul Specialist in Drug Safety and Effectiveness Domestic Social Policy Division Summary By statutory requirements and by regulation, guidance, and practice, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) works with several overlapping yet distinct programs to get to market quickly new drug and biological products that address unmet needs. FDA most frequently uses three mechanisms for that purpose: Accelerated Approval, Fast Track, and Priority Review. The first two affect the development process before a sponsor submits a marketing application. Accelerated Approval allows surrogate endpoints in trials to demonstrate effectiveness and is ... First, the product must concern a serious or life threatening condition; second, it has to have the potential to address an unmet medical need. Once FDA grants a Fast Track designation, it encourages the manufacturer to meet with the agency to discuss development plans and strategies before the formal submission of an NDA/BLA. The early interaction can help clarify elements of clinical study design and presentation whose absence at NDA/BLA submission could delay approval decisions. However, FDA makes similar interactions available to any sponsor who seeks FDA consultation throughout the stages of drug development. A unique option within Fast Track is the opportunity to submit sections of an NDA/BLA to FDA as they are ready, rather than the standard requirement to submit a complete application at one time.4 2 Other options fit very limited situations and support shorter times from idea to approved public use. The Animal Efficacy Rule (21 CFR 314 Subpart I and 21 CFR 601 Subpart H) allows submission of data from animal studies of effectiveness as evidence to support applications of certain new products when adequate and well controlled clinical studies in humans cannot be ethically conducted and field efficacy studies are not feasible. Many historical events have taken place in Egypt ranging from 4000 BCE through the present. Egypt also plays a major role in the biblical aspect in history as well. Significant achievements from Imhotep; a remarkable architect and physician, to Moses freeing the slaves from the Pharos. • 5. The Impact Of Hiring A Crc On Patients, Physicians,... A Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) is a research professional working under the immediate direction of a clinical Principal Investigator (PI). • 6. Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and... Assessing the Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and Knowledge Brokering To Improve Business Process Performance Introduction The depth and value of tacit knowledge an organization has within its own structure and surrounding ecosystem is significant and potentially transformative in its value. Combined with the explicit knowledge organizations possess, which according to empirically derived studies, is just 30% of total knowledge captured (Wilhelm, Kohlbacher, 2011), organizations have latent potential to improve processes yet are not capturing it. The role of Information Aggregation Mechanisms (IAM) (Chen, Plott, 2002), prediction markets and methodologies (Dye, 2008), and the potential to transform businesses processes with this collective intelligence (Billington, Davidson, 2010) is the focus of this analysis. Insights gained from the literature review leading up to this study indicate that a more precise form of crowdsourcing is emerging gaining insights into recurring and predictive oriented events (Dye, 2008). The emergence of hidden profiles or concentrated groups of experts who have the majority of tacit knowledge an organization requires to innovate are starting to emerge in the work retailer BestBuy is doing for example (Dye, 2008). The power of the IAM mechanisms combined with collective intelligence to completely re order an industry can be seen in the emergence of Linux as the open source platform of choice for many enterprises globally ... Apparanlty Nana looses her marbles when the sun goes down although it s not just a slight case of dementia because there s also Pop pop s paranoia with thinking he s being followed, Nana s sudden and dangerous mood swings, the warning s to stay clear of certain parts of the property, their strange talk of needing to please the little aliens or being chased by yellow eyed creatures, and a lot of other crazy stuff! • 8. African American Marginalization Analysis What was the most definitive legislative act of marginalization directed at African Americans prior to 1865? In my view it s clear which legislative act marginalized African Americans the most, and would have to be the implementation of lifelong servitude Virginia enacted in 1661. This legislation would shape this country s use of slave labor and begin the process of marginalizing African Americans. Now there are a number of other terribly oppressive pieces of legislation that would further marginalize African Americans but it seems like this first act was decisive in that it normalized the use of slaves through its ever expanding interpretation. The end result is that Japanese Americans were clearly marginalized and many of the ways they were mistreated conflict directly with what I read in the constitution. That s why it is so unfortunate to read the various supreme court decisions found in the module 4 Pertinent Supreme Court Decisions , like Korematsu v. • 9. Golden Age Of Islam Dbq Analysis During the Golden Age of Islam, scientific and mathematical ideas were developed, later spreading through different regions. There were numerous factors that helped contribute to the spread of knowledge and ideas. Three primary factors were the education system, the production of paper and the prosperity of unification of oral language. One condition needed for the spread of math and science in the Islamic Empire was their way of education. The Muslims were encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad to seek learning even as far as China. (Doc A). This means, that no matter where the muslims were, they were challenged to learn all the way to China, which was a big step for early learning. The Prophet Muhammad also proposed a more scientific way of education. To try and help for cures to diseases, as Muhammad once said... For every disease, Allah has given a cure . This shows that seeing the Muslims knew that they all had cures, but they had to find them... which is what a lot of them did. This attitude towards education shaped Islam, and led them further into education. Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay Ophelia and Hamlet In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time, Hamlet, the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy should be. Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each generation appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to Aristotle s definition of a tragedy, one question still lingers. She transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and knowing woman. What brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the aforementioned attempted education by Ophelia s brother, Laertes. When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines 14 18: ... Despite having a compelling lead performance played by Zoe Deutch and a powerful soundtrack full of ballads, Before I Fall still took a turn with a generic plot line, choppy dialogue and cliché. Although I loved the performance given by Deutch and how she was able to show the characters development through emotions and her acting, that still doesn t mean the movie was perfect. The movie was like Mean Girls put through a time loop. Before I Fall deals with a teenage girl forced to live the same day over and over again till she figures out why she s living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sam s whole story is that she s a mean girl who realizes that maybe she shouldn t be mean to people. (by the way it took her too long to figure out that maybe Juliet was the reason she was living the same day over and over again). The mind irking thing is that she never once told her friends that they should stop bullying Juliet or try to befriend her. Instead, she presents this half played, pitiful redemption that leaves the audience thinking that it was an act of heroism (I begged a differ). There are moments in Before I Fall where the dialogue lacked intelligence. It was almost as if the director wanted to be quick and get to the point of creating a movie that deals with time loop, and not think twice about whether the dialogue should make sense. There s a scene in the movie where Sam is thinking back on the last 24 hours of her life before the car accident where her and the other three girls are bullying Juliet, and then she says this line That was forever ago... that was yesterday. There were reasons that the audience watching this film to think okay that doesn t make sense. Saying something forever ago and that it happened yesterday just contradicts itself, the line I think should have been That was yesterday. Then there s another scene where Sam and Lindsay are talking in the cafeteria about how Lindsay and Juliet use to be friends and went on a camping trip together. Then Halston Sage s character Lindsay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Humanitarian Intervention In The Rwanda Genocide In addition to the moral reasons for humanitarian intervention, the increasingly globalized nature of the world means that there are many practical benefits to reinforcing a country s responsibility to protect it s people. In this day and age, isolationism is no longer a valid foreign policy strategy as the actions of one country are inexorably linked to those surrounding it. From a revolution in communications to increasingly efficient and affordable methods of high speed transport technology, people are able to connect with others from all points on the planet. The proliferation of transnational corporations have forged bonds between countries, and free trade agreements, like NAFTA and CAFTA DR have further promoted the global economy. In fact, many still attribute the instability and poverty of the Great Lakes region directly to the Rwandan genocide and the long lasting scars it has left. Thus, the importance of intervention in events of the genre of the Rwandan genocide is clear. The impacts of mass atrocities, like genocide or war crimes extend beyond just the people being targeted, but rather, affect the whole country, the whole region, the whole world. The ripple effects of a genocide are far reaching and catastrophic, making it essential that intervention occurs before such events are allowed to run their devastating course. Along with our moral responsibility to ensure that sovereign states do not use their sovereignty with impunity, the interconnectedness of our globalized world make it essential that the Responsibility to Protect doctrine, a policy of interventionism for humanitarian purposes with clear parameters, is used to avert future Rwanda s, Congo s and Burundi s from ... Alternative Rock Music Music junkies, concert connoisseurs, and vinyl vigilantes everywhere need to know about the similarities and differences between the alternative rock and indie rock genres. The genres alternative and indie are terms sometimes used interchangeably, but their origins are indeed differing. There has been a varying progression of media platforms used to listen to these genres among the past few decades due to society s social and economic changes. In terms of instrumental progressions and technological buildups in the music world, the instruments and stylings used to define these genres has changed as well. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, alternative rock is defined as a style of rock music characterized as unconventional, or outside the mainstream which resonated powerfully with a generation weathering an economic recession. I would choose to define alternative rock as music that has heavy metal influenced rhythms, with the use of electric guitars and bass drums, but conveys a lighter, upbeat feel, and uses meaningful lyrics. Alternative rock emerged in the late 80 s and early 90 s when the United States was facing an economic recession and in a post war state. The songs alternative rock artists wrote during this time tended to be more melancholy in sound, and carry out the use of lyrics about the struggles society as a whole, and the artists as individuals were facing due to this social and economic decline. These lyrics were relatable for listeners and adequately helped them cope with the strife. These artists, more often than note were signed by more widely known record labels. • 34. Colin Powell s Influence On The US Colin Powell has been an influence on the American public since early in his military career, for example, quickly rising up the ranks from second lieutenant to a four star general in the U.S. Army. Kinder and McConnaughy (2006) describes Colin Powell as one of the most youthful African American generals in the U.S. Armed Forces and in 1991 became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush. Powell became a national figure not just to African Americans, but to the whole American public in the course of the effective Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations in which ousted the Saddam Hussein Regime from Kuwait. According to Kinder and McConnaughy (2006) General Powell sustained his position as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the beginning of the Clinton administration. According to Harari (2002) during this period Powell s intellectual prowess as a leader and follower are considerably more noticeable. • 36. Purpose Of Epic Theatre Epic theatre is always intended for the actors quite as much as for the spectators. The essential reason why the didactic play falls into a category of its own is that, through the exceptional austerity of its apparatus, it facilitates and encourages the interchangeability of actors and audience, audience and actors. Every spectator can become one of the actors . (Walter Benjamin). What do you discern as the didactic element of Mother Courage and Her Children and how does it relate to dramatic form/ theatrical techniques? Is Theatre for Pleasure or Theatre for Instruction? Epic theatre refers to a form of drama that attracts spectator s mind more than his feelings. The term was developed and adopted by Bertolt Brecht in Germany in 1920 s. Epic theatre presents a narrative which turns the observer into spectator. The main aim of epic theatre is to arouse the spectator s capacity to take action by provoking rational self reflection. Brecht has followed the epic theatre because he realised that the traditional theatre of his time is inadequate for his purposes. Epic theatre serves the purpose of social function. Through its narrative, Brecht presents social, political and economic problems. In an evolving and contradictory political climate such as that which existed in the town of Dover, the principles expressed in this code of ethics serve as a fair and objective guideline by which difficult decisions can be based on. Therefore, there should generally not be circumstances where ethical considerations are sacrificed on the basis of a given individual or group s perception of the best possible outcome for the community. Much like a constitution, the ICMA Code of Ethics gives decision makers a tangible reference and provides a scale of ethical justice on which conflicting opinions can be weighed against each other.
