2. Salad Bowl Analysis
The immigration is always an important issue throughout the history of the United States. The
government is struggling to assist the diversity of cultures and ethnic groups because immigrants
continuously bring their traditions into America. This raised the metaphor melting pot and salad bowl,
which described the term of assimilation and integration of the many different cultures in America.
Today, the United States society no longer matches the melting pot metaphor; it shifts to salad bowl
metaphor. This concept is different from the notion of the melting pot. The salad bowl means that the
immigrants keep their unique customs and cultures, the integration degree of immigrant merge into the
American community, and the youth immigrant generations recognize their heritage of origin culture
in the mainstream of American culture. For these reasons, the salad bowl metaphor would be more
appropriate to America society these days.
The term melting pot was generally used in the United States after it was used as a metaphor for
describing an association of cultures and ethnicities in 1908. Many different types of people blend
together as one in a society. America is always a nation of immigration, based on the history element
of the country. The generations of immigrants have mixed together. They have refused their origin
traditions and cultures to become totally assimilated into American society. That was why American
citizen considered United States was a melting pot. In contrast to the soup bowl theory, there is the
emergence of salad bowl metaphor. It asserts that the integration of the many different cultures of the
United States people combines like a big salad bowl. It means many cultures, languages, and ethic co
exist in peaceful, like all kinds of ingredients in a bowl of salad. It mixes together, but it does not
dissolve into one.
Although the melting pot theory seems to be outdated in American society today, however, there are
still a lot of conservatives to favor their views on this metaphor. They think the fusing of different
ethnic group is essential for building a cohesive society. Immigrants should give up their origin
tradition national identity, and they try to entirely assimilate

3. Recommendation Of A Company On Aerospace Manufacturing...
I recommend to the board to buy a stock in Boeing. Boeing is a well established aerospace
manufacturing company with a high dividend yield. It had made substantial positive gains. Some of
Boeing s strengths include strong market position, increase in global aerospace and defense spending,
increase in passenger travel, decreased expenses, and increased operational performance. I believe our
company will benefit from Boeings high dividend yield and receive positive gains.
Aerospace manufacturing is an industry aimed towards markets that produce commercial jetliners,
defense aircraft, space systems, and other related products. The two major markets are Aerospace and
defense. Several manufacturing companies and suppliers are well known for producing and supplying
the aircrafts that are used every day. Some of these major players have contracts in place to produce
aircraft with government and air transportation companies. Some of the same major companies also
have contracts with smaller companies to produce certain products.
Transportation aircraft would be considered the biggest segment of the aircraft industry. These
aircrafts vary in size and in function and are responsible for transporting people and freight all over
the world. The airline industry plays a pivotal role in the success of aerospace products, with NASA
and the Department of Defense being the largest United States customers of aerospace technology and
products.

In a business buying center there are five different roles. The first role are the users. These are the
people who will be use the good or product. They influence the buying decisions because ultimately
they will be the ones using the product. The second role are the gatekeepers. These personnel are the
ones that give product data. They control what information the members of the buying center will

I would tread the waters of global expansion and would first expand with our neighbors to the south,
Mexico. Some of the economic issues that I would run into would be the low income revenue that
families in Mexico face. The infrastructure in Mexico is well developed in major cities but that is
about it. Other cities have poor to non existent infrastructure. The way I would mitigate these issues
would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Monterrey,
and Etc.) and international airports.
The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans only
speak English. I would have to get bilingual workers that spoke both Spanish and English. I would
also take into consideration the narco culture that they are currently living in. Many drug gangs are
running the country and I would have to mitigate that so my workers would be safe.
Technological issues would be minimal. Mexico is well off when it comes to internet technology.
Almost every home in major cities now have Wi Fi connection. My business would also be able to
provide this service. They also have cell phone service readily available in these major cities. I would
have minimal political legal issues. That is because of the North

5. The Roles Of The Progressive Movement During The...
*From the 1890s to the 1920s, America was a period full of widespread social and political reform.
Some state that the Progessive movement was a single movement that either only supported
democracy or only supported morality. However, there was no single movement, but rather a bunch of
separate reforms and movements that supported a movement towards a better America. There were
reforms that altered American life and are talked about in history classes all over the world, which I
will mention further throughout my essay. However there are less popular reforms that took place
during the Progressive era, for example there was the scientific management movement. This
movement wanted to make businesses work faster and more efficiently, as well as ... Show more

6. Healthcare Payers In Competitive Markets
Hospitals generally compete with each other. In such an atmosphere of fierce competition, managers
must assess the ability of their organizations to influence the prices paid for the services offered.
(Gapenski, 2008, p.194). And because most services provided in such marketplace are similar in
nature, the economic theory suggest that prices will be set forth by local supply and demand
conditions. Thus, the actions of a single participant, whether the participant is a provider or a payer,
cannot influence the prices set in the marketplace. (Gapenski, 2008, p.194). In such a competitive
market, the prices of services are constrained and as such, providers are said to be price takers.
Moreover, some healthcare payers

7. Criminal Communication and Its Effect
This is an excerpt from an investigation I wrote for Comuniclab, the web magazine of the University
of Rome La Sapienza . The work has been featured in several magazines.
Criminal communication
Naples criminal cartels communication strategies We talk through our guns . I was 8 when, passing by
the headquarters of a mafia clan to reach my school, I heard this sentence. (...) It seems to be a clear
and demonstrated truth: for instance, the war between local gangs Ascione Papale and Birra Iacomino
killed 18 mobsters and wounded several people, between 2007 and 2008. The latter is one of the most
recent mafia wars, and many examples are from that experience.
Wars and murders make many people think that weapons are the best means of communication for
mafia groups, but that is incorrect. Actually, these organizations power is widely based on the ability
to communicate to people, in various forms, their dominion over the territory, the capability to
dispense life and death, success and failure, favors and punishments. It is usually hard to find solid
evidence about the power of communication , Mario Morcellini, Professor and Director of the
Department of Communication and Social Research at the University of Rome Sapienza , says. On the
contrary, when we see how criminal cartels use communication, this power appears to be crystal clear.
They are enterprises, built on a communicative and symbolic dimension, and communication is the
most valuable commodity they sell .

8. The Problem Of The Water Crisis
To address something as complex as the water crisis, one must first examine the current condition of
the problem. Currently, the water crisis is being driven by three things. First, many governments in
Africa are not interested in investing in nationwide plumbing. That is either because they are not able
to afford the cost of laying the info structure or they can afford it but feel no need to invest that much.
Even if a country can afford to install plumbing, generally, plumbing is only installed in urban areas
and has little to no effect on those living in rural Africa. Second, many large companies buy out water
rights and use them to dump toxic chemicals with no oversight. The result is that there is less water
considered drinkable. Furthermore, this can ruin long time water sources for people that may be
nowhere near the business. Third, some companies who buy out water rights sell the water back to the
people. Often times, they charge outrageous prices that the majority of citizens cannot afford. As a
result, previously free water is now double the average income per day. In an effort to address the
problem, a lot of nonprofits have formed for the express purpose of helping increase water
accessibility. To do this, almost all of these companies dig wells. Unskilled groups use dug wells or
driven wells which are subject to contamination and ineffective during a drought. More skilled groups
use drilled wells which are less subject to contamination and work in all

10. The Era Of The Baroque Era
According to Greenberg (2009), the Baroque era is estimated to be the time period spanning from
1600 until 1750. The year of Sebastian Bach s death, 1750 which is notably and associatively used as
a timeline reference that ends this overly extravagant period of creativity. This timespan became an era
of expressive exuberance of primal human emotions as secularization, the study of scientific reasoning
and intellectual rationale characterized the societal environment. Religion no longer dominated and
controlled the subject matter and stylization of artistic expression, yet it did not disappear, it merely
stepped into the background. The Classical era is estimated to be the time period spanning from 1750
until 1827. Similarly 1827, the year of Beethoven s death is used to mark the ending of another era.
Within this timespan, society transitioned from overly ornate to a more defined sophisticated culture
with the introduction of the Enlightenment 1730 1780. The Enlightenment s ideals for the betterment
of mankind gave rise to Cosmopolitanism and an international blurring of musical lines. European
mercantilism gave rise to a growing middle class whose social importance became equal to that of the
aristocracy and the high clergy. The middle class s increased finances allowed them the purchase of
real estate and the knowledge of leisure time with the desire to be entertained. Classical music became
more accessible to the middle class as a source of entertainment and a

some reason your employers life insurance believes you are uninsurable. Having a separate life
insurance policy outside of the one provided by your insurer allows you to structure it in a way that it

A power of attorney can be general, granting broad authority over all of your medical and financial
affairs, or it may be limited, giving your designee a defined set of responsibilities only in certain
situations. A general power of attorney may be written to last for a period of time or indefinitely. The
power of attorney ends when you die and is not a substitute for a will. You can authorize your power
of attorney to such things as sign checks and tax returns, enter into contracts, buy or sell real estate,
deposit or withdraw funds, run a business, or anything else you do for yourself. A power of attorney
can be broad or limited.
A physician s directive or living will is a form designed to help you communicate your wishes on
medical treatment in the future if at some point you are unable to make your wishes known due to
illness or injury. A Directive to Physicians goes into effect only when your physician has determined
that you have a terminal or irreversible condition and are unable to make your own health care
decisions. You can also change or cancel your Directive to Physician at any time for any reason
The biggest difference between a physician s directive and a medical power of attorney is that a
physician s directive tells doctors whether to make life saving treatment if your condition is life
threatening or terminal. A medical

Maslow (1908 1970)
Abraham Maslow (1943) was a theorist that created the Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs which is a
theory to understand what motivates people and their basic needs. He believed that people crave basic
human needs to survive, and on another level prompted to achieve certain higher needs. Maslow
developed a Hierarchy of Needs that follow the life cycle which includes 5 stages that are basic needs
within a pyramid. These are: Biological and Physiological needs (i.e. air, food drink, shelter, warmth,
sleep). These are essential human needs to survive. Air to breathe, food and drink to develope and

Concrete operational stage (7 12 years) This stage is for them to be able to think by being able to use
mental operations.
Formal operational stage (12 years onwards) At this stage they will be able to reason in abstract ways.
Piaget created this theory because he was interested and wanted to identify why children gave
incorrect answers that needed logical thinking. He considered that children are active in their learning.
Because babies aren t taught to crawl or walk, Piaget believed that babies are born with the ability to
adapt to and learn from the environment.
Piaget developed the four stages by observing and testing children. He found that children behaved or
seemed to understand things in a particular way at different ages. Piaget didn t want to measure how
well a child can count, spell or solve problems. He was more interested in the way in which
fundamental concepts like the very idea of number , time , quantity , causality , justice and so on
emerged (Simply Psychology, 2015).

Natural Objects used to convey a Symbolic Meaning
Percy Shelley was a writer during the Romantic Era, often known for his lyric poetry. In lyric poetry,
the mood is often musical and emotional, often represented in rhythm and rhyme (Portnoy). The writer
of a lyric poem uses words that express his state of mind, his perceptions, or his feelings. Shelley
composes lyric poetry that makes use of the language, imagery, and metaphors to represent a symbolic
meaning of the object he is addressing in each poem (Portnoy). Shelley often uses concrete images in
his poetry to convey an abstract idea. Shelley uses natural objects to represent a symbolic meaning

Shelley uses the way water flows through a riverbank to symbolize the way our thought flows through
our mind The source of human thought its tribute brings, Of water, with a sound of half its own, Such
as a feeble brook will oft assume, In the wild woods, among the mountains lone, Where waterfalls
around it leap for ever (Shelley 871). Thoughts rush into the mind filling the brain, similarly as water
rushes down a riverbank, filling the riverbank until it can hold no more. Within this mind human
thought brings its tribute, that is, giving the external world what it owes to it, like a brook flowing as a

reflecting off the River Arve Thou many colour, many voice vale (Shelley 871) to symbolize the way
our many different memories can affect the thoughts within our minds. The final line of the fifth

17. Negative Effects Of Racial Profiling
The Amin brothers, Ahmad and Hassan, were normal young adults like you and I. They lived in
Pakistan for only a short period of their lives and moved to the US at a young age. Their mother,
Tahira Manzur had high hopes that they will become permanent, working, residents of the US.
Unfortunately, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS for short, had suspicions that the
young men had correlations to a 9/11 terrorist attack. Hassan was arrested and stayed at Yuba county
jail overnight until a 4,000$ bail freed him and his younger brother ,Ahamad, missed school every
Wednesday and had to check in with the INS Offices. In the process, they were in the fight against
being deported for 5 tiring years along with rigorous court dates all because of assumptions to
terrorism. (Racial Profiling since 9/11). Part of their young lives was striped from them. Racial
profiling can and has had a detrimental effect on many lives like the Amin brothers. What does the
INS do? Their main job is to regulate immigrants who come into the country and if their transmission
is legal. Racial profiling is used, mainly in law enforcement, to target people based off of stereotypes
of their race, ethnicity, religion, or origin if they are suspected to be part of a criminal action. It has
been around since the 1800 s but a recent event also revealed it was used as well when Japanese
immigrants wanted to move to the US but were denied access because of distrust from the result of
WWII. This

When comparing the movie Troy, directed by Wolfgang Petterson, and The Iliad, written by Greek
poet Homer we can clearly see that although Petterson has made an excellent film he has clearly left
out certain aspects of the Iliad which really define the story.
Both versions portray the Trojan War between Greece and Troy, Achilles killing Hector and King
Priam visiting Achilles to ask for the body of his son Hector back. However both versions do not
portray accurate versions of the fight between Menelaus and Paris, nor do they correctly explain why

angers Achilles to the point in which he vows that one day Agamemnon will fall under his sword.
We then see a clip of Helen attempting to leave Troy as she believes if she returns to Menelaus it will
prevent more lives from being lost. Hector sees her and persuades her to stay, telling her she is a
princess of Troy now. The next day, Agamemnon as his army march to Troy and demand the return of
Helen or a war would break out. Hector offers up his brother Paris to fight Menelaus in order to decide
who would get to keep Helen. Just before Menelaus can deliver the death blow, Paris crawls to his
brother s feet and hides behind him in cowardice. Hector then delivers the death blow to Menelaus
which sparks of the beginning of the fighting. As the fighting progresses on the battle field we see
clips of Achilles and Briseis and we see that they have begun to fall in love. Achilles makes plans to

I chose Carlow University because of the size, austerity, and most importantly, the degrees and courses

For Scott Equipment to continue trading, they have to be in a position to meet their immediate

Current Ratio Current ratio is type of liquidity ratio. It is a financial tool used to measure a company s
ability to pay off its short term debts with its short term assets. A company s current ratio is expressed
by dividing its current assets by its current liabilities. A higher current ratio means the company is
more capable of paying off its debts. If the current ratio is under one, this suggests the company is
unable to pay off its obligations if they were due at that point (Investopedia, 2013). Companies that
have trouble collecting money for its receivables or have long inventory turnovers can run into
liquidity problems because they are unable to lessen their obligations.
In Scott Equipment s case all three financial policies show the company to be in good financial health.
Aggressive, moderate, and conservative show a current ratio of higher than one. However, the
conservative policy is the highest ratio meaning that the conservative approach has the most liquidity
and the greatest ability of paying off its short term debts with its short term assets.

How My View on Gay Marriage Changed
At the time, gay marriage is a steaming hot topic of discussion in the United States. The right of

history of America. On several locations around the globe, fore an example in europe, gay marriage is

Why would people get married otherwise? To seal og refresh the bond between lovers? To get

Giving that marriage is not a way to get a child, why should gay people get married? But then again
why would non homosexuals get married? In the United States, the wedding of a couple is a major
cultural and religious event. We know that the christian church and belief does not applaud
homosexuality, so why should the gays have access to marriage? Of course they should have access to
marriage. But maybe not in the church.
A religious marriage, must at all time be for the religious people. Meaning that one christian would
never host a islamic wedding and the other way around. There are certain rules in each religion which
must be followed. Like laws in the society, there are rules in the churches.
You would not question that stealing in a shop is wrong or/and illegal, so why question the rules of a
private club, which the churches actually are. Sure, anyone can attend any church, but the rules have
been made, and that forces the attendants to follow the rules set by the church.
Because homosexuality is a sin, gays and lesbians cannot be married in the holy

23. Personal Ambition In Macbeth
Personal ambition was an important value during the Renaissance time period in England. Personal
ambition was also a vital part of two of the most prominent novels in england s history, Paradise Lost
by John Milton and Macbeth by William Shakespeare. It In each story, both of the main female
characters, Eve and Lady Macbeth, portray the idea of personal ambition at its best by their ability to
manipulate. Lady Macbeth is the one who takes advantage of her husband s, Macbeth, emotions in
order to become queen. Eve, however, is very curious about herself and after she eats the fruit from
the forbidden tree she starts to view herself as Adam s equal and wants to possibly be superior to him.
Both Shakespeare and Milton viewed ambition as a strength but at the same time it can be a weakness
and the downfall for certain people or characters in life or stories. Lady Macbeth as a character was
very ambitious. She is debatably one of the more powerful characters in all of literature. Her burning
ambition to be queen is the single feature that Shakespeare developed far beyond that of her
counterpart in the historical story he used as his source. Lady Macbeth is the one who originally plots
duncan s murder and manipulates Macbeth into proceeding with the murder by questioning his
manhood saying, To be the same in thine own act and valour. As thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have
that. Which thou esteem st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting I

24. The Causes And Effects Of Marijuana
According to the United Nations, 158.8 million people around the world use marijuana that is more
than 3.8% of the planet s population (Marijuana statistics, 2017). These statistics indicate that
marijuana is frequently being used around the world without people knowing its positive and negative
effects. Marijuana is one of the most abused drugs in the world. There is an ever growing gap between
the latest science about marijuana and the myths surrounding it (drug facts, marijuana). A lot of people
around the world are still ignorant about marijuana and its uses. They do not even know about its
existence. Marijuana is a slow poison that deteriorates the body and the person consuming it loses the
ability to think about his own welfare. When a person loses the ability to think, that is when his
downfall starts. There are effective uses of marijuana, yet there are also serious issues that should be
considered and therefore, all this leads us to research more deeply into this matter and make all
possible efforts to understand the causes and effect of marijuana more effectively.
Marijuana can lead to a lot of genetic damage to our human body which can further result in other
ailments. Based on the results of an experimental study published in the journal Chemical Research in
Toxicology (2009), investigators reported that carcinogenic potential of marijuana is attributed to
compounds like acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde can change the structure of DNA in our body which can

25. Border Wall And Illegal Immigration
One of the oldest justifications for a government is as a protector. Governments provide security,
economic stability and social welfare for its citizens (Slaughter 2017). Without border control, there
would be mass immigration, which would lead to major job losses and economic instability (Mcguire
2017). This research paper intends to explore the question: how does a border wall influence illegal
immigration? I argue that countries that allocate resources for the construction of border walls will
tend to have less illegal immigration. This is important because every country has the right to control
and protect its borders. In other words, each country has the right to know who enters and who leaves
in order to protect its borders. In this regard, it is important to acknowledge that the implementation of
a border wall has significant consequences to economic, social, and political stability within a country.
This paper will begin by defining the concepts used in our research proposal and provide several
differing perspectives on the concepts being discussed. Moreover, we will relate our research question
with a contemporary scenario, and demonstrate the relationships of our key variables through a causal
mechanism. The causal mechanism will link the dependent variable that is illegal immigration to
border wall, our independent variable. Finally, we will finish by presenting testable hypotheses and the
methodologies that will determine our empirical research. If

26. Heroes In Tough Alice
Children and adults alike decorate heroes with compliments such as how courageous they are, or their
bravery. Heroes both present day, historically, and fictionally are decorated with such things; but I ask
what if there s a hero presented without any of these heroic qualities ? Do you believe they even
qualify as a hero anymore? In this case, we will be using Alice, (derived from Tough Alice ), because
in the short story she was presented in, she needed the influence from her peers in order to perform a
heroic deed. Today s heroes compared to Alice differ in small, unseen actions, such as influence,
reasoning, and character. With today s heroes, many of them are influenced by their past, their
opinion, or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And example of a person s reasoning to be a hero is Martin Luther King Jr., where his reason was
derived from a series of experiences throughout his life. As a child, he was constantly discriminated
for his race for being of colored race. Everytime he would attempt to mingle with white children, their
parents would immediately draw them away from him, spitting out insults such as: You don t want to
contract whatever that child has. At times he would even be called negro , just like the other black
children of his age as well. This, as he was growing up, made him realize that there were hundreds of
thousands of other people who also have had similar experiences as him. Friends of his would often
tell him of their times they ve been discriminated; it was such an important realization that he even
discovered his own parents were being discriminated as much as he was. For this reason, he joined
and provided a great contribution to the Civil Rights Movement, fighting for African American rights.
Compared to Alice, though, ever since she feasted her eyes on the Jabberwock as it appeared, had a
reason to be a hero. The Jabberwock was a creation of her own imagination; a creature that she
claimed was the most frightening creature alive. In the past, the Jabberwock dispatched of 2 other

27. The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women earning the right to
vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were many other items that the women in
history hoped to change, not only to better their own lives, but also the women of the future. With the
use of many documents, such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past changed many
different aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss America Pageant in 1968
and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of this second movement. They
also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which was titled The Bitch Manifesto and was
written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The second was a spin off from a children s book entitled There
was a Young Women Who Swallowed a lie which was written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery
Exists! Reported by a flyer that circulated around America in 1968. At this time, slavery as we
remember was over, so to many at the time, what the women were proclaiming may have been
confusing to some. This circulated around before the Miss America pageant. The Washington Women
s Liberation were portraying the pageant to slavery because Miss America was a slave to cultural
norms of the time, the image of sex, virginal prettiness, glory of war, mindless conformity, acceptance
of racism, cult of youth, the competitive spirit, and the capitalistic system. With this flyer, they were
hoping to gather others who

28. Energy Drinks Market
Energy Drinks Red Bull
What are energy drinks? Cola and coffee drinks have long been promoted and known as energy drinks
meant to give you a little pick me up, mostly in the form of caffeine and sugar. Jolt Cola in the 80s
was one of the early entries in the energy drink market, with double the caffeine of normal colas, it
was marketed towards teens and college students as a way to get an energy edge and keep you awake
and energized. Their slogan, in fact, was twice the caffeine . Jolt has in fact recently been reincarnated
given the success of other energy drinks. What are the most popular energy drinks? Red Bull, created
by an Austrian company, really defined the category, and was launched in Europe in the late 1980s.

It is actually 70% real fruit juice (and 100% energy as they claim!). They were the first to use the 16oz
larger size, and this has caught on and become the standard. Only Red Bull continues to market the
smaller cans, which is part of their image.
While the UK is certainly not the only market in Europe where energy and sports drinks are big
business nor indeed is it the large
Bars and clubs remain important outlets for energy drinks across Europe Many people will try an
energy drink brand for the first time in a bar, with or without alcohol there is a growing trend towards
everyday consumption as a source of energy.
This in itself throws up other challenges not least how the brands, and the stores that sell them,
distinguish themselves from each other. This has led to a range of new products, which differentiate
themselves from Red Bull through packaging, or colour, or taste, or through what they contain, said
Hall. Consumers are increasingly knowledgeable, and they understand more and more about the
ingredients in these drinks, so if the science is good, it can be a real selling point.
Sports drinks are perhaps a case in point. They are generally linked with energy drinks, and indeed
have a number of similarities in terms of functionality and target audience. Yet they are generally
consumed in different situations they are unlikely to be consumed in a bar, for example and have
different effects on the body.

29. The Maryland Blue Crab ( Callinectes Sapidus )
Organism Profile SCIN 130
Species Profile of the Maryland Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus)

American Public University System
Abstract
The Callinectes sapidus also known commonly as the Maryland Blue Crab, is a crustacean found in
the Chesapeake Bay. The blue crab is found in aquatic environments, most often in estuaries. It
characterized by it s blue claws. The blue crabs undergo a life cycle of: zoeae, megalop, juvenile, and
adulthood. The blue crab s hard shells serve as a protective barrier for external dangers. The
Callinectes sapidus comes from the order of Decapods, whereby it s carapace has now evolved to be
better suited for swimming. Of interest is the blue crab s mating ... Show more content on

It shares ancestral background with shrimp and lobsters. They are omnivores with their prey being
mussels, fish, plants, and smaller blue crabs (Society). Although the Blue Crab is well established
within its ecosystem it is highly sensitive to environmental and habitat changes ( Blue Crab, Maryland
State Crustacean , 2016). The detrimental conditions of the Chesapeake Bay have affected the
populations of Blue Crabs along with over harvesting.
Life Cycle The life cycle of a Blue Crab involves Zoeae, Megalops, Juveniles, and Adulthood (Zinski,
2006) ( Blue Crab Life Cycle, 2016). Mating occurs only once for female crabs. Female crabs undergo
a pubertal mold which is indicative of a sexually mature state in their life cycle. During the pubertal
molt females release pheromones which attract males. The actual ritual of mating does not occur until
females molt their shells (Zinski, 2006). At which point females will then retreat to high salinity water
to begin spawning. Spawning will occur for the first time 2 9 months after mating. Interestingly, males
will protect females during the period which females have molted and it is at this point in which
mating occurs (Hill, 2004). As previously mentioned Blue Crabs are highly susceptible to changes in
environmental conditions. As an example, larvae require high salinity waters. Larvae require salinity
of at least 20 ppt and below that threshold, there is poor likelihood of survival ability.

30. Water Vs Tap Water
Water is colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the sea, lakes, rivers, and rain and
is the basis of fluids of living organisms. The source of water is from meteorites that are still falling to
the surface of Earth. Many of those meteorites contain quantities of water in crystal lattices. When
they melt, the water is released. (Some Basics of Water and the Hydrosphere) Humans need water to
survive on Earth, so we created bottled water and tap water. Humans drink water every day, but which
is better? Tap water is the best drinking water in the United States of America. That is because tap
water is safer, cheaper, and tastes better than bottled water.

natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, fires, or boil alerts). During these times, bottled
water is a necessary and reliable alternative to deliver clean, safe drinking water. However, tap water
does provide in most cases a safe source of drinking water, even if occasional system failures make it
necessary for consumers to search for alternatives during these times. (Bottled Water vs Tap Water) If
and when an Emergency happens, you and your family can simply buy reusable, refillable water
bottles and 3 gallon jugs of water for each family member. Also, natural disasters are not common,
and usually you can know before one comes. Which water should you drink now? Bottled or tap? Did

31. Social Policy On Invisible Disabilities
The policy topic that I have decided to address is Invisible Disabilities, because this is a huge social
problem. In our society a person with a disability is primarily recognized from when you look at
someone and you can visibly confirm that they are disabled. Visible disabilities are what most people
think of when they think of someone who is disabled: for instance someone in a wheelchair. The truth
is, not all disabilities are physically visible, and generates negative attitudes towards persons who
suffer from them. Some invisible disabilities include learning disabilities, brain injuries, epilepsy,
narcolepsy, and so many more. The goal is to try to aid people with invisible disabilities have the

(Brennan 2013, p.68 69)
Disability, under Social Security law, is based on your inability to work. You will meet the Social
Security definition of disability if SSA finds that you cannot do the work you did before; you cannot
adjust to other work because of your medical condition(s); and your disability has lasted or is expected
to last for at least one year or result in death. This is a strict definition of disability. (Brennan 2013,
p.68 69)
With the way that the current laws and policies are defined it creates a burden to those that do not fit
in the narrow box created. There are obvious flaws with the way that the economic factors affect this
social problem. The statistics are what hold the truth, and it shows that economic factors are still at a

32. The Impact Of Slavery On Black Families Today
Before I started to read this article, I thought of many ways and experiences of how slavery affected
black families to still have an impact on us today. I feel that, slavery impacted black families strongly.
Some ways slavery impacted black families is by, the way we cook and prepare food, while slaves we
had to find ways to cook food for our family, some other ways slavery has impacted black families
today is also by, bringing black families close together by, giving us the urge to want to know about
our people and where we came from, slavery today has given us independence to work and get our
own, also, one of the most important ways I feel slavery has impacted black families today is by,
bringing us closer to God.

33. Essay On Fiber Communication System
There are certain inherent flaws with the optical transmission system like inter symbol interference
and noise. This distortion is introduced by the narrow bandwidth and some distortions due to the
media through the optical signals travel. The linear transversal filter is used to reduce symbol
interference. The system designed to remove unknown distortion is called an adaptive equalizer. The
corrective measure is to identify the distortion and adjust accordingly with the objective to remove it.
The equalizer can be the supervised or unsupervised type. In the TV or radio Transmission, blind
equalizers are used. The literature survey of analysis of mean square error and space division

The equalizer converges to higher MSE. The noise PSD directed method iterated over 3000 km
transmission on all six modes and it tends to convergence at same MSE to get the standard 10 dB
normalized MSE (NMSE).The noise PSD directed algorithms require 47 blocks and the conventional
algorithm needs 48 blocks [6]. Sean O¨Arık et.al have proposed Long haul mode division
multiplexing (MDM) for adaptive multi input multi output (MIMO) equalization to reduce for modal
crosstalk and modal dispersion. To minimize computational complexity, use MIMO frequency domain
equalization (FDE).Polarization division multiplexing (PDM) system use single mode fiber but its
transmission effected by noise, fiber nonlinearity and dispersion. In multi mode fiber (MMF) with
multi input multi output (MIMO) transmission Increasing per fiber capacity can be achieved more
readily by increasing spatial dimensionality the total number of dimensions available for multiplexing,
including spatial and polarization degrees of freedom denoted by D. In first case two polarization
modes of single mode fiber using D=2. This is made possible by equalization techniques goes on
going up with the upward drift of D and higher group delay. In second case systems using
modedivision multiplexing (MDM) in MMFs (D 2) receiver, computational complexity increases
because of an increase in D and because of the large group delay (GD) spread

34. Nt1310 Unit 3 Simulation Analysis Paper
Abstract In the last decades, the different IPs were developed and integrated within single chip. The
designers were getting lot of issues to verify the chips due to cumbersome of all modules in the IPs. To
overcome from such issues, the new technology has been developed. The designer started to develop
each module in IP design file. Once it is verified then all modules were combined in single IP and
integrated in the chip. Then designer was uploading all IP in a single chip. So the designer can avoid
unexpected outputs from the chip. One important problem in the vlsi design is, designer could not be

35. The Advantages Of Just In Time Manufacturing
Introduction Just In Time Manufacturing
Just in time manufacturing was a concept introduced to the United States by the ford motor company.
It works on a demand pull basis, contrary to hitherto used techniques, which worked on a production
push basis.
To elaborate further, under just in time manufacturing (colloquially referred to as just in time
production systems), actual orders dictate what should be manufactured, so that the exact quantity is
produced at the exact time that is required.
Just in time manufacturing goes hand in hand with concepts such as Kanban, continuous improvement
and total quality management (TQM).
Just in time production requires intricate planning in terms of procurement policies and the
manufacturing process if its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constant communication with the customer results in high customer satisfaction.
Over production is eliminated when just in time manufacturing is adopted.
Disadvantages Just In Time Systems
Following are the disadvantages of Adopting Just In Time Manufacturing Systems
Just in time manufacturing provides zero tolerance for mistakes, as it makes re working very difficult
in practice, as inventory is kept to a bare minimum.
There is a high reliance on suppliers, whose performance is generally outside the purview of the
manufacturer.
Due to there being no buffers for delays, production downtime and line idling can occur which would
bear a detrimental effect on finances and on the equilibrium of the production process.
The organization would not be able to meet an unexpected increase in orders due to the fact that there
are no excess finish goods.
Transaction costs would be relatively high as frequent transactions would be made.
Just in time manufacturing may have certain detrimental effects on the environment due to the
frequent deliveries that would result in increased use of transportation, which in turn would consume
