Spectacle Technique
Spectacle Technique: Smoke and Mirrors
Stanley Kubrick s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) is a space travel, science fiction film about evolution
and advanced alien architects. The film is broken into four parts: the apes (who encounter the 1st
monolithic triggered evolutionary step), humanity s discovery of the 2nd monolith (which encourages
the trip to Jupiter), Bowman and Poole s trip to Jupiter aboard a ship equipped with a HAL 9000 unit,
and Bowman s extraordinary experience with the 3rd monolith. Throughout the film, the narrative is
muted, or at the very least Kubrick intentionally took steps to diminish the viewer s ability to get
involved with the narrative. Spectacle is the focus of this film. Kubrick made use of camera angles,
elaborate sets, and computer graphics to focus in on the spectacle that is 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Camera Camera angles were chosen to simulate the disorientation of space and to separate/isolate the
viewer from the characters. Many scenes are shot at seemingly arbitrary angles to highlight the
absence of a preferred rotational frame. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These sets garnered a realistic approximation of how rotating habitat modules and space travel would
be. Some of my favorite scenes include the trip up to the moon made by Floyd (the trip operated by
none other than Pan Am) and the jogging and dining scenes in the habitat module of the trans Jovian
spacecraft. The very first time you view the film (in a more modern film era), you immediately remind
yourself that computer assisted graphics were not sufficiently advanced to be used for this scenes and
that something, camera or the entire set, must be rotating. This was probably fairly novel, exciting,
and fun for the actors when shooting these scenes. The use of the sets in this manner combined with
the lack of narrative focus firmly plants the viewer into a spectacle observing

The Effectiveness of Irish Catholic and Nationalist...
The Effectiveness of Irish Catholic and Nationalist Leaders in Advancing Their Cause in the Years
1801 and On
The Act Of Union in 1800 meant there was no longer any Irish institution capable of advancing either
an Irish nationalist or catholic cause. As a result the advancement of those causes depended on
influencing the British Government directly. The catholic cause initially focused on securing
emancipation for the catholic population and aimed to improve the lives and rights of Catholics
throughout the period. The nationalist cause fought for greater Irish autonomy with full independence
as its greater aim. In evaluating the effectiveness of the Irish leaders Daniel O Connell, Charles Stuart

Whereas O Connell was satisfied in 1829 it seems Parnell wanted greater reform. Parnell was able to
wield more power within parliament than O Connell due to the weak governments of the time. In 1885
the IPP held the balance of power, which allowed Parnell to use his political skill to earn the prospect
of home rule. The fact that both the Conservative and Liberal parties had promised a Home Rule Bill
shows the power Parnell held and the possibility that existed for real, more attainable changes in
Ireland. The passing of The Ashbourne Act as a statement of Conservative will demonstrates this. It
can be argued that the Home Rule Bill was an achievement in itself and opened Westminster to the
possibility of home rule. I do not believe the break up of the Liberal party was a disaster for Irish
nationalist hopes of home rule as Gladstone was able to attempt a second bill in 1892. Though it was
unwise for Parnell to attempt such a bill at the time particularly as he was not involved in its inception.
Alan O Day explains how Gladstone took few of his colleagues or Parnell into confidence about the
details of the bill and how it contained a great many negative provisions.
Following Parnell s infamous home rule attempt no other leader of the IPP emerged as such an

Lastly Mia Hamm Character Analysis
Influential people use words to motivate others to become successful and to get back up. Stephen
Curry insists on giving his fans confidence by saying, Every time I rise up, I have confidence that I m
going to make it. However, he wants to motivate them as well by telling his story. Even though he
didn t tell his story in this quote, there is a story behind it. A lot of people fear failure, and I think that
holds a lot of people back. But a lot of times, it s possibly the best thing that could happen to you
because you learn how to get back up, you learn how to do it better and you re stronger from that, said
Shaun Livingston. Shaun is saying that fear holds people back. We re addicted to the feeling of
winning. We want it so bad again that we ll almost play through anything. ... Show more content on

Mia Hamm stated that winning a championship is not as easy as it looks, The vision of a champion is

explains the way she sees it and how everyone else should see it. Failure happens all the time. It
happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it. said Mia. Moreover, she
is stating how failure happen, it happens a lot. But the way the person react is what really matters. For
example, if the person decide to whine and throw a fit about it and just simply give up the person will
not go nowhere in their carrier. But if the person just simply brushes it off, ask for help, and keep
going the person will achieve their goals just as she did. A winner is a person that gets up one more
time than she is knocked down said Mia. In fact, Mia went to the National Soccer Hall Of Fame in

Melita Hunter s Song Saa Private Island
There was a point, around 56 years ago, when the small towns along the salient southern Cambodian
coast were the height of style. After a near century of French rule, Cambodia became independent in
1953. By then, the population was over seven million, with most of the population being Buddhist.
Throughout this period the people kept holiday villas in Kep, an appealing village nearing the
Vietnamese border as well as in Sihanoukville. However, the country s serenity was torn to pieces in
1970 as Sihanouk was overthrown. The countries captivating coastal towns transformed into burnt out
villas, wilted wildlife and buildings scarred with sprays of bullet holes.

An Australian couple, Rory and Melita Hunter, founders of Song Saa Private Island Resort were not
daunted by the archipelago s erratic past. The couple fell in love with the islands located within the
warm, azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand, that nestle like glittering natural jewels. Song Saa,
Cambodia s first five stars resort opened in February 2012. It was during the couple s honeymoon
while exploring remote parts of Cambodia, when they came across the unscathed islands of the Koh

within the shimmering sea like lovers, and hence, earned the local name Song Saa , meaning the

the trilogy of the 5th Wave Book series. This book has a Lexile level of HL640L, the grade interest is
ninth to twelfth, and the age range extends from 14 to 18 years. The Infinite Sea is a Science Fiction
book, but it has hints of horror in the trope of the story.
The setting of the book is in Urbana, Illinois; a more urban city, but beautiful greenery. Though as in
Urbana at this one throughout the book, white is approaching the city, and this is extreme bad as the
winters in Urbana are harsh and dreary. The setting time is a bit more modern with communication

Dementia Research Paper
Dementia Dementia is group of neuropathological disorders, and it is progressive and incurable
disease. It is also most common in elderly people. Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning
thinking, remembering, and reasoning and behavioral abilities to such an extent that it interferes with a
person s daily life and activities. These functions include memory, language skills, visual perception,
problem solving, self management, and the ability to focus and pay attention. Some people with
dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Dementia ranges in
severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person s functioning, to the most
severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of living. The
most common types of dementia are Alzheimer s disease and vascular dementia . The dementia

Five Theories Of Natural Selection
Natural Selection, a key mechanism of evolution is the progressive process by which biological traits
either become more or less common in a community or population as a result of inherited traits on
different reproductive success of organisms with their environment. Charles Darwin in fact put
together an articulate theory of evolution and supported it with a good amount of body evidence in
1859 when he published his book. Natural selection is too however a basic mechanism of evolution
like mutation, migration and genetic drift. In order for natural selection to work, Darwin came up with
5 different theories that brought about evolution. The five theories are: evolution, common descent,
species multiply, gradualism, and natural selection itself. Evolution is when species come and go
through time, while they exist they change. Common descent is organisms are descended from one, or
several common ancestors and have diversified from this original stock. Species multiply is the
diversification of life involving populations of one species diverging until they become two separate
species; this has probably occurred billions of times on earth. Gradualism is evolutionary change
occurring through incremental small changes within populations; new species are not created
suddenly. Animals and plants of all sorts undergo changes through natural selection. The peacock is a
unique animal that stood out to me that undergoes natural selection. There are different kinds of
selection but

Literature Review A review of literature pertaining to the effects of CPOE on clinician workflow
revealed several interesting findings. Although many seemingly effective CPOEs exist, their
performance in the clinical environment is highly dependent on the perceived usability and acceptance
of the end users. The user interface design is of extreme importance. Complex sequences of action,
numerous mouse clicks, and problematic presentation of information are some barriers that can lead to
delays and errors (Khajouei, Wierenga, Hasman, Jaspers, 2011; Khanna Yen, 2014; Van Doormaal et
al., 2010). Comprehensive training and ongoing support by super users are critical factors to clinicians
acceptance and optimal functioning of the system (Khajouei et al., 2011; Staton et al., 2013). The
negative impact on multidisciplinary interaction is profound, but can be facilitated by sound
communication policies (Khajouei et al., 2011; Khanna Yen, 2014; Staton et al., 2013; Van Doormaal
et al., 2010). In addition, providers inclusion in any proposed workflow changes can avert later
problems (Staton et al., 2013). Hagstedt, Rudebeck, Petersson (2011) developed a survey consisting of
73 specific questions that address patient safety,

1.1Summarise the development of the UK popular music recording industry from the 1950 s to the
present day.
50 s
The 1950 s represent the beginning of the development of the music industry, as it is known today. It
is from here on that the genre of popular music existed and began to dominate the charts. Of course,
there were acts that existed before the 50 s, and made a good name for them selves, acts like Bing
Crosby, but it was in the 50 s that certain artists became household names, and idols to the masses.
The first, and most iconic of these artistes, is of course, Elvis Presley. After making a name for him

Playing the guitar in ways never seen before, Clapton was hailed as a god, and the genre of blues was
re instated into the music industry. Clapton then went on to form the first super group . In 1966,
Cream were formed, and by combining Clapton s bluesy styles with the more rocky style of Jack
Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be credited for
pioneering this genre. It was this genre that got Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US.
In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase of musical talent.
The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with mass numbers watching the show each week to catch
a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts at the time were called to play on the show, and it was
great publicity for each act. Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in 64, new musical
technologies were developed and brought to the mainstream market, such things as organs. This
allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further.
Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who. These continued
along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream and Zeppelin, and both had great success. It was these
acts that led to the nickname, the swinging 60 s . 1966 saw the beginning of psychedelic music. It was
The Beatles who first began to experiment like this. Adding new

Suspended Driver s License In Violation
INTRODUCTION:
This case involves the suspect being arrested for driving on a suspended driver s license in violation of
CVC 14601.1 (a) Suspended Driver s License and an outstanding arrest warrant.
INVESTIGATION:
On 05 18 17 at 0107 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in police unit #16. I was traveling west on
Walnut Street approaching Madison Avenue. I observed a tan 4 door Kia Amanti also traveling west
on Walnut Street, directly in front of me. I saw that the vehicle did not have a rear license plate in
violation of CVC 5200(a) No License Plate.
I activated my overhead emergency lights/siren and conducted a traffic stop on Walnut Street east of
Madison Avenue. I contacted the driver, later identified as Suspect Emajanae Ayashi Whitebear and
asked for her driver s license, registration and proof of insurance. Whitebear gave me a California ID
card instead of a California driver s license. Whitebear stated her California driver s license was
recently reinstated from a prior suspension. Whitebear did not have proof of her driver s license being
reinstated. Officer Sprague arrived on scene and assisted me. ... Show more content on

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can have several causes,
such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous sources, but the most clinically important
etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a collection of
symptoms that occur in clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, and
diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these conditions can occur alone,
or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to metabolic syndrome. These
characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high triglyceride levels, reduced HDL cholesterol,
increased blood pressure, and elevated fasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the
hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte undergoes
lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the
bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this stage. It is
important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the same presentation.
As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic
capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This
deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by altered
levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the concentrations of enzyme
lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle
to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin
plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to
adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high
level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily
adipose tissue. (3) Steatosis is the first stage of NAFLD

Analysis Of Out Of The Attic By Briann G. Greenfield
Likewise, many historians consider the importance of studying the Colonial Revival from a material
culture lens. Alan Axelrod articulates, Objects play a central role in the processes of the Colonial
Revival. Similarly, Briann G. Greenfield s Out of the Attic: Inventing Antiques in Twentieth Century
New England, suggests an extension of this idea of the centrality of objects. It is, in effect, a
celebration of material culture as it relates to a larger historical context. Greenfield effectively
describes the evolution of historical and aesthetic use of antiques from the 1900 s onward. Acts of
collecting, selling, and displaying the antiques are points of interest in her collection of essays. She

Chapter three presents Jessie Barker Gardner and George Gardner as twentieth century antique
collectors based in Providence New England. The couple were small time, middle class antique
collectors. They were interested in the philanthropic area of collecting. The Gardner s sought to make
a connection between the collegiate space and the museum. Eventually, the Gardner s donated many
of their most prized collectables to Brown University. They implemented very crafty and effective
sales techniques. Their goal was to subvert the market and capture the antiques at bargain prices.
Though Jessie and George Gardner relished the pursuit of collecting and philanthropy, it was almost
always about the profitability. This discussion offers a connection to Thomas Denenberg s use of
Wallace Nutting. Like Nutting, the Gardner s excelled in a plethora of marketing techniques and
entrepreneurship. She further links the importance of consumer culture that Denenberg alludes too.
Chapter four is devoted Henry Flynt and his efforts in historic preservation and antiques in Deerfield,
Massachusetts. He, too, believed that historic objects reflected American patriotism. He criticized
Williamsburg and Deerfield as being restored or preserved villages.
Conversely, under his direction, Deerfield, Massachusetts became a natural preservation. This chapter
further mentions companies

These are the harsh truths of the trade and the risks one has to make in this field. When meeting with
the potential buyer or client, we as business representative have to present ourselves with poise and

from skill that are needed to have constructive interaction with others, one must also possess a sense

Dual Engineering And Integrated Product Development
Question #1) Concurrent engineering (also known as simultaneous engineering and integrated product
development (IDP)) was originally defined in 1988 by the Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) in its
report The Role of Concurrent Engineering in Weapons System Acquisition (Stark, 1998). This
practice is opposite to consecutive engineering, where various components of a business (such as
marketing, manufacturing, and design) are siloed with one another. Consecutive engineering leads to a
throw it over the wall mentality, as one business component such as marketing performs the tasks
required for its division and then would send it down the line to design. This fragmented business
structure leads to quality issues in the product development, which results in greater cost and slower
development (Stark, 1998). In addition, a company can expect with consecutive engineering to have
many engineering changes occur, issues with production, and lower product competiveness. These
engineering changes can negatively affect the cost of the product, as a change that occurs much farther
down the process will have higher scrap and rework associated with changes that occurred earlier in
the product conception. Figure 1: Concurrent Engineering Overview (Information Systems Planning
Corporation) In stark contrast, as evidenced in a simplistic viewpoint from Figure 1, concurrent
engineering brings together these various departments in product development, and utilizes

Application Of An Information System
An Information System (IS) is commonly known as a system composed of people and computers
whose main purpose is to processes or interprets information. In this context, information system
development methodologies (ISDMs) are used to organize the IS development process (Zaied et
al.2003). In the last decades, various well known ISDMs have been established in literatures. For
instance, Agile Methodology, Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology(SSADM), Soft
Systems Methodology(SSM), User centered Development Methodology, ETHICS Methodology,
Jackson Systems Development(JSD) and etc. With these high level concepts of methodology for
information system in mind, the rest of this research is focused on selecting a suitable development
approach for the project, and identify the features and current thinking on the selected methodology.
A software development methodology is a structure imposed on the development of a software
product. It is used to structure, plan and control the process of developing an information system
including procedures, techniques, tools and documentation aids. A wide variety of methodologies have
evolved over the years, majority aggress that all these methodologies are distinguished into two
categories Heavyweight or Lightweight. Heavyweight methodologies are also known as traditional
methodologies which approach system development with standard, well defined processes such as
Waterfall, Spiral and Unified Process. Lightweight methodologies

Authority In Max Weber s Three Types Of Authority
Max Weber proposed that there are three distinct types of authority. These are, charismatic authority,
traditional authority, and legal rational authority. All of these authorities are important to understand.
Mostly, because they play huge roles in day to day life. For anything so present in the world, the
general population, should, at bare minimum, make an attempt to understand the forces around them.
Charismatic authority is often envied when its embodiment is seen in real life. Conley explains Max
Weber s point of view that those who possess this type of authority are thought to do so naturally and
with ease (Conley 577). Many spot this type of authority from a mile away, welcoming it into their
lives. Whether this be at work, with a manager who you can help but admire and respect because of
their ability to seem to work hard and lead gracefully, to the fellow student who leads a group project
in a way that makes the team collaborative and causes the project itself to have a sense of ease to it.
Conley points out that charismatic authority has its own place in politics, explaining that there are
statistics that show no amount of campaign money will help a candidate win an election if the
electorate just doesn t like him or her (578). Along with the previous ideas, it is important to know that
charismatic authority is the most difficult to maintain or pass on (578). The reason for this is clear:
while charisma can be learned, those who have it naturally will

The Attachment, Self Regulation, And Competency
The Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is a theoretically grounded,
evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents
(Arvidson, 2011). This research shows how the application of the ARC model benefits inner city youth
who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to
demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC therapy
over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who are diagnosed
with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner city schools in the
area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be exposed and serve as the
control group. The 25 students will be exposed to ARC therapy over a span of 6 months. After the 6
month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the control group that received no
treatment. Complex trauma results from exposure to severe stressors that occur within the caregiver
system or with another presumably responsible adult, are repetitive, and begin in childhood or
adolescence. As a result, many of these children and adolescents experience lifelong difficulties
related to self regulation, relationships, psychological symptoms, alterations in attention and
consciousness, self injury, identity, and cognitive distortions (Lawson, 2013). Exposure to ARC
therapy over a given time will lead to

Persuasive Essay On Unfair Prejudice
People have been unfairly judged since the beginnings of time, everyday someone out there is being
bullied, unfairly harmed because of their race, or unprivileged because of their race or cultural
background. Whether they were the victims or the bullies everyone has at one point experienced some
form of inconsiderate judgement in their lives. It is no surprise that people have been unfairly judged
for hundreds of years now. There has been many cases of racism all over the world. From slavery and
the racial segregation of African Americans in the U.S, to the Holocaust and persecution of jews in
WWII, people all over the world have been discriminated for their appearance. Historically the
practice of unfair prejudice has been around for centuries. Although discrimination has significantly
decreased over time it is still something we see in today s society and many people have to deal with
the disadvantages it brings. Currently, the U.S is the most discriminative nation towards other cultural
minorities and it has even come to a point where policemen in the U.S have been questioned for their
actions. This is shown in many cases when people of color have been killed without evidence of
hostile behavior towards the authorities and this has stirred up a lot of controversy over the past few
years. Many diverse ethnic groups have evidently been conflicted by unfair prejudice across the U.S.
A group that has been conflicted by this are citizens of Middle Eastern descent, after the

Great danes are tall dogs even though they are not very heavy. Their popularity and beautiful physique
have gained them the title of the Apollo of Dogs. Danes are loving, friendly, and affectionate when
treated accordingly. According to AKC standards, male danes are not less than 32 inches and are
usually 34 inches tall. The average Dane is close to three feet tall in height. Duration of development
of your great dane s body largely depends on his or her gender. To illustrate, a male can complete his
development in three full years where females can be adults in a year or less. Puppyhood usually lasts
for 18 months and over the course of these first 18 28 months, an owner will witness their great dane

In Today’S Global Market, China Is One, If Not The World’S
In today s global market, China is one, if not the world s most important player. When China s
economy is doing well, the majority of the world s economies tend to do the same. When China s
economy is slow, the rest of the world usually follows. At the start of the 2016 year, China s stock
market declined by 7% (Best). Stock markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States quickly followed
the trend. It is clear that when China slows down, its trade partners follow. China affects a lot of
countries. Three examples include oil, commodities, and trade (Best). When there is not a lot of supply
of a certain item, the prices usually skyrocket and the supplier benefits. On the flipside, when there is
oversupply, the economy can suffer. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the war, Mao Zedong took over China in 1949 (BBC History Mao Zedong). Shortly after, China
s influence in the global economy declined. China s involvement in the global economy was only 5%
during his rule (Holodny). This happened as a result from Mao Zedong implementing The Great Leap
Forward in 1958, and the Cultural Revolution in 1966. The Great Leap Forward was an attempt to
modernize China s economy so that it could match up with the economy of the United States by
around 1988 (Trueman). He saw potential growth in agriculture and industry. His reasoning for
choosing agriculture and industry was that one could not blossom without the other. Agriculture
needed industry because they needed the best machinery and equipment to succeed, while the industry
would prosper if it was fed well by agriculture. To do this, the government took complete control.
Schools, tools, retirement homes, entertainment, and healthcare were all provided by the government
(Trueman). This would ensure all the people could work. After the first year, everything seemed great
according to plan. Things would turn around at the start of 1959. In 1959, the government wanted its
people to work faster to produce more products. This caused workers to work long hours every day.
Due to the quick production, the goods lacked quality. The steel that was produced was too weak for
construction, which was its intended purpose. Buildings that were erected would not last

The Wonderful Discoverie Of Elizabeth Sawyer, A Witch,...

Goodcole s pamphlet, The Wonderful Discoverie of Elizabeth Sawyer, a Witch, late of Edmonton. Her
Conviction and Condemation and Death. (London, 1621). I will be seeing how if the contemporary
public felt the same way and how this relates to the history of witchcraft.
Henry Goodcole was a prison visitor and author [and was] best known for a series of criminal
biographies, arising from his experiences as ordinary and recounting his attempts to extort confessions
from the condemned in the prison . The most famous of his visits was to Elizabeth Sawyer, who was
suspected of being a witch. His pamphlet on the Sawyer case included the confession he had elicited
from the condemned witch while preparing her spiritually for execution .
Before sixteenth century, the ability to read and write was low. But during the century there was
growth in education for the public and illiteracy was decreasing. It is estimated that in 1600 about 10
per cent of women in England were literate; by 1700 this had risen to perhaps 30 per cent . In 1650 the
male literacy rate rose to almost a half . The biggest form of reading was through reading print and it
was this mode of literacy that provided the foundation for pamphlet culture . Despite the low literacy
rates many peoples workplaces allowed them to hear texts they could not read instead .

The Silent Scene In Hamlet And William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Shakespeare was an intelligent man, he wrote characters with ideas in his mind of how they should be
played, some directors and actors do not respect that. In a comparison of three different film
adaptations of the play Hamlet, the famous To be or not to be speech is often butchered and destroyed
with no respect for the original material. Music, scenery, and acting are are vital to the scene and how
viewers may understand and appreciate the work and characters in it. Often neglected, it is up to
watchers to decide whether or not the work was enjoyable, there are many reasons for those opinions
to sway in a certain direction. Olivier, Tennant, and Branagh all had their take at the scene, and in
comparison, only one managed to impress and match the stature of the original text. Olivier s
portrayal of the To be or not to be soliloquy was utterly atrocious. With the age of the film taken into
consideration, it still manages to fail at nearly every aspect and disappoint as much as possible. The
strongest point, which in comparison is not strong at all, would have to be the music and sound or lack
thereof. The silence definitely is akin to Hamlet s depression and his quiet speaking is attempting to
add to that though failing miserably. A quiet scene is something which can definitely add the feeling of
a character s struggle when done correctly which this was not, leading to an awkwardly quiet scene.
The film starts to degrade even further with the scenery. Certainly a cliff

The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape Industries...
The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the requirements
of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The corporate veil becomes
the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this
concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the
Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the curtain
if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic measures, Courts would look for
something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud, avoidance of obligations, or group
piercing grounds. In order to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down
between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon
it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a
response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in
order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of
the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some
impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas
piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and
looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion
of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be
substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the
evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The
good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman.

those layers of carbon goo to form under the earth s crust and we used it all up in a geological instant

natural resources expire. Our generations have come up with some amazing things. Who knows what s

For example, Sargent et al. (1998) found that males are more enjoyable for combative sports (e.g.,
boxing, karate, football, ice hockey) since males assume attracted to violent and aggressive exposure.
On the other hand, female preferred stylistic sports (e.g., gymnastics, figure skating, and tennis) since
females seem preferring elegance of athletic displays.
Some research also indicated that individual differences (sensation seeking; SS) can be variance on the
consumption of televised sports (McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). The perception of
sensation seeking, which is a biologically determined personality, was related to optimum stimulation
level (OSL) and optimum level of arousal (OSL) which helps explain media consumer behavior
characters like media consumption and content preferences (Kassarjian Sheffet, 1991). Sensation
seeking suggests that a demand for stimulation and arousal explain individual s preference, and react
to media violence (Goldstein, 1999; McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). High sensation

Uses of Computers in the Medical Field

Introduction
In today s society, there is a wide range of computer use. Almost everywhere you go today you are
required to have some sort of basic understanding of how a computer is operated. In my report, I am
going to tell you how computers are used in the field of medicine. There is a wide variety of use and
need for a computer in the medical field. Their uses include storing patient related data, scanning and
imaging the body, and assisting speedy communications. Some of the main points I will be discussing
is why Health Care Professionals use computers, where computers are used in the Health Care System

In larger office and hospital settings, they also control patient flow, keeping track of who is in which
room or bed, and which rooms and physicians are available for routing patients. Hospital monitoring
equipment is usually based on computer programming. Patient monitoring equipment is computers
that leave the physician free to perform other duties. Emergency alarms, bed beeping systems,
pacemakers, life support systems that monitor and look after patients, and X ray machines are all
examples of equipment using computer technology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer
tomography (CT) use computer software. High resolution images are achieved with the use of
computers and infrared cameras.
Computers are also used in the medical field for Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS). The most
important component of computer assisted surgery is to get an accurate model of the patient. This can
be done like I said previously with a MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound. The final objective is the creation
of a 3D dataset that reproduces the exact geometrical situation of the normal and pathological tissues
and structures of that region. Of the available scanning methods, the CT is preferred, because MRI
data sets are known to have volumetric deformations that may lead to inaccuracies. (As cited in
biomed.brown.edu/Courses/BI108/BI108_2005_Groups/04/) Computer assisted surgery is the

Digital Screen Advantages And Disadvantages
Paper or plastic? was the often heard question from the bagger at the grocery store for many years, but
these days the bigger decision is whether to read words on paper or a digital screen. Paper has a long
and documented history, having been in use for over 2000 years, while the availability of the digital
screen has only come about in the past 50 years. Both paper and digital screens provide the same
fundamental function, an avenue for the written word to be conveyed and understood by a person.
While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen are fundamentally the same, using paper still
has a unique set of advantages such as the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of
proofreading, and the increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The
ability to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to consider
hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t change when having to
accomplish reading for a project or a research paper. The longer it takes the user to finish the reading,
the harder it becomes to accomplish the job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computer to
perform reading can be advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open
and be able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to perform
work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used to

well, when his wife divorced him. He became desperate in his search for a meaning or reason for his

control of his masculinity. As the day progressed in the film, Foster picked up more violent items after

He also attempted to assert dominance at the construction site, where he demanded an explanation

How To Write A Drag Racing Essay
Drag Racing
Drag racing is a form of racing in which two cars line up at the same place, and race each other down
a straight track. The first one to cross the finish line wins.
Starting
If you want to start drag racing, which I personally think is very hard, you ve got to have some money.
Things you ll need are a trailer, some options of different kinds of trailers are an open trailer, (about
$2,500), or an enclosed trailer, (about $5,000), or if you have more than one car that you want to take,
you could get a stacker trailer. A stacker trailer is trailer with a lift that you can drive a car onto and
then lift it up in the air and it will stay there and then you can drive another car in underneath it. Those
usually cost about $20,000.My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you go to a small race track, most of the time you ll know all of the staff, workers, and other racers.
My advice for you is to become involved with helping out at the track. If a worker or staff member
needs help with something, you should help out. Not only will you get a good reputation there, but
you ll be liked more and can even get some benefits such as being able to come into the track and
practice. If another racer needs a part, and you have an extra, why not let them borrow it? It will once
again help your reputation out. Plus, if your car ever breaks and you need a part, they will most likely
pay you back and let you borrow the part you need.
Racing
And now for the fun Racing. There is more to drag racing then there seems. It s not just smash your
foot to the floor and drive straight. There s way more to it. You have to have your car tuned right, and
make sure that everything is working well on your car, plus you need to be maintaining your car, and
you need to be figuring out your dial in. The dial in is the elapsed time you think your car will run
(usually to the hundredth of the second). If you go faster then your dial in, then you break out, which
means you are disqualified. For example, if you dialed a 4.00 and ran a 3.99 you would have broken
out, and you would be done racing for that class for the day. And then you

the road from today s main farmhouse. It s the same home into which Bill and his two sisters and Kurt
and his two sisters were born. Bill and wife, Beverly, to whom he was married in 1963, moved into the
main farmhouse when their children were young. Originally, William Wachtel milked all his Guernsey
cows by hand. It was Floyd who introduced portable milkers, which were carted from stall to stall,
with milk captured in buckets transported by hand to cans stored in a cooler in the milk house. By this
time, the number of cows milked on the farm had doubled. In the 1950s, a milking parlor was
constructed and it s in there, with pipelines running from each stanchion to bulk tanks, the milk makes
its way to await transfer into a cooler truck, which will haul it away. And, while the job was getting

Physics Pre-Lab Questions
Pre Lab Questions: In this activity, the marbles represent the narrow beam of alpha particles used to
determine the structure of atoms, the unknown object represents the atoms that Rutherford studied, the
cardboard represents the gold foil that was made up of gold atoms and the paper represents the
approximate path that the alpha particles bounced off of or went through the gold foil at that
Rutherford observed. Based on where the marble rolls in one end and out the other, you can infer
where the target is underneath the cardboard and where the target has a flat edge, or doesn t have any
edges that stick out. Post Lab Questions: We made the correct prediction that the shape of our target
was a triangle. The characteristics of the target that were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because if the marble hits the shape, the speed at which it bounces off of it will be even slower
than the speed at which it was rolled and its path might be changed before it rolls out of the black
box.A slower marble also may make a wider angle if it bounces off of the shape. If the speed of the
marble rolls were faster, it may also be hard to make an accurate prediction, because if the marble is
moving too fast, the way in which the marble bounces off of the shape would be different. A faster
marble may make a smaller angle as it bounces off of the shape. If the size of the marble was bigger,
the shape would appear to be smaller and if the size of the marbles were smaller, the shape would
appear to be bigger. This is because as the size of the marbles changes, so does the angles that they
make, when they bounce off of the shape. This angle size depends on the speed and size of the
marbles and when one of those variables are changed, it can make it difficult to determine the position
and shape of the

Heritage as an Idea of Oneself in Bless Me Ultima and The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in
Heaven
Traveling through humanity is a never ending story. Traveling through ethnicity is an ever changing
journey. Is race or culture a matter of color? Is it a way of life; or a decision an individual makes? Is it
an idea one has of themselves? In the novels, Bless Me Ultima (Anaya 1972) and The Lone Ranger
and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (Alexie 1993), two different minority characters, Tony and Victor, give
voice to their journey of growing up and finding their place in the world in regards to their heritage.
The characters, in Anaya s and Alexie s novels, relate to a dominant culture, pursue balance in their
life by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given these two choices, Tony feels he must choose between them. Anaya introduces Tony to a
different culture, as he enters school; there he meets the white dominant culture head on. Tony, now
blends a third culture into his life. Tony s heritage offers him two ways of being a Spanish Mexican
American; in Alexie s novel, Victor strives to be an Indian, period. Victor s culture, being different
from Tony s, breeds different cultural problems. Victor, a Native American Indian, in Sherman Alexie
s The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, searches daily for ways to survive being Indian.
Victor lives in a white world that continually divests him of the privilege of his heritage daily. The
ordinary daily erosion damages Victor and the Native American the most. Alexie writes, . . . it s almost
like Indians can easily survive the big stuff. Mass murder, loss of language and land rights. It s the
small things that hurt the most. The white waitress who wouldn t take an order, Tonto, the Washington
Redskins (Alexie 49). Victor needs to learn to survive the daily ness, the ordinary and wants someone
to show him how and says: . . . I have] to find out what it mean[s] to be Indian, and there ain t no self
help manuals for that . . . (Alexie 211). As Victor wanders through the Native American cultural maze,
somewhat aimlessly and alone, Tony is

  • 2. Spectacle Technique Spectacle Technique: Smoke and Mirrors Stanley Kubrick s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) is a space travel, science fiction film about evolution and advanced alien architects. The film is broken into four parts: the apes (who encounter the 1st monolithic triggered evolutionary step), humanity s discovery of the 2nd monolith (which encourages the trip to Jupiter), Bowman and Poole s trip to Jupiter aboard a ship equipped with a HAL 9000 unit, and Bowman s extraordinary experience with the 3rd monolith. Throughout the film, the narrative is muted, or at the very least Kubrick intentionally took steps to diminish the viewer s ability to get involved with the narrative. Spectacle is the focus of this film. Kubrick made use of camera angles, elaborate sets, and computer graphics to focus in on the spectacle that is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Camera Camera angles were chosen to simulate the disorientation of space and to separate/isolate the viewer from the characters. Many scenes are shot at seemingly arbitrary angles to highlight the absence of a preferred rotational frame. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These sets garnered a realistic approximation of how rotating habitat modules and space travel would be. Some of my favorite scenes include the trip up to the moon made by Floyd (the trip operated by none other than Pan Am) and the jogging and dining scenes in the habitat module of the trans Jovian spacecraft. The very first time you view the film (in a more modern film era), you immediately remind yourself that computer assisted graphics were not sufficiently advanced to be used for this scenes and that something, camera or the entire set, must be rotating. This was probably fairly novel, exciting, and fun for the actors when shooting these scenes. The use of the sets in this manner combined with the lack of narrative focus firmly plants the viewer into a spectacle observing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effectiveness of Irish Catholic and Nationalist Leaders in Advancing Their Cause in the Years 1801 and On The Act Of Union in 1800 meant there was no longer any Irish institution capable of advancing either an Irish nationalist or catholic cause. As a result the advancement of those causes depended on influencing the British Government directly. The catholic cause initially focused on securing emancipation for the catholic population and aimed to improve the lives and rights of Catholics throughout the period. The nationalist cause fought for greater Irish autonomy with full independence as its greater aim. In evaluating the effectiveness of the Irish leaders Daniel O Connell, Charles Stuart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas O Connell was satisfied in 1829 it seems Parnell wanted greater reform. Parnell was able to wield more power within parliament than O Connell due to the weak governments of the time. In 1885 the IPP held the balance of power, which allowed Parnell to use his political skill to earn the prospect of home rule. The fact that both the Conservative and Liberal parties had promised a Home Rule Bill shows the power Parnell held and the possibility that existed for real, more attainable changes in Ireland. The passing of The Ashbourne Act as a statement of Conservative will demonstrates this. It can be argued that the Home Rule Bill was an achievement in itself and opened Westminster to the possibility of home rule. I do not believe the break up of the Liberal party was a disaster for Irish nationalist hopes of home rule as Gladstone was able to attempt a second bill in 1892. Though it was unwise for Parnell to attempt such a bill at the time particularly as he was not involved in its inception. Alan O Day explains how Gladstone took few of his colleagues or Parnell into confidence about the details of the bill and how it contained a great many negative provisions. Following Parnell s infamous home rule attempt no other leader of the IPP emerged as such an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though he didn t tell his story in this quote, there is a story behind it. A lot of people fear failure, and I think that holds a lot of people back. After a near century of French rule, Cambodia became independent in 1953. By then, the population was over seven million, with most of the population being Buddhist. Throughout this period the people kept holiday villas in Kep, an appealing village nearing the Vietnamese border as well as in Sihanoukville. • 11. Dementia Research Paper Dementia Dementia is group of neuropathological disorders, and it is progressive and incurable disease. It is also most common in elderly people. Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning thinking, remembering, and reasoning and behavioral abilities to such an extent that it interferes with a person s daily life and activities. These functions include memory, language skills, visual perception, problem solving, self management, and the ability to focus and pay attention. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Dementia ranges in severity from the mildest stage, when it is just beginning to affect a person s functioning, to the most severe stage, when the person must depend completely on others for basic activities of living. The most common types of dementia are Alzheimer s disease and vascular dementia . • 12. Five Theories Of Natural Selection Natural Selection, a key mechanism of evolution is the progressive process by which biological traits either become more or less common in a community or population as a result of inherited traits on different reproductive success of organisms with their environment. Charles Darwin in fact put together an articulate theory of evolution and supported it with a good amount of body evidence in 1859 when he published his book. Natural selection is too however a basic mechanism of evolution like mutation, migration and genetic drift. In order for natural selection to work, Darwin came up with 5 different theories that brought about evolution. The five theories are: evolution, common descent, species multiply, gradualism, and natural selection itself. Evolution is when species come and go through time, while they exist they change. Common descent is organisms are descended from one, or several common ancestors and have diversified from this original stock. Species multiply is the diversification of life involving populations of one species diverging until they become two separate species; this has probably occurred billions of times on earth. Gradualism is evolutionary change occurring through incremental small changes within populations; new species are not created suddenly. Animals and plants of all sorts undergo changes through natural selection. The peacock is a unique animal that stood out to me that undergoes natural selection. Literature Review A review of literature pertaining to the effects of CPOE on clinician workflow revealed several interesting findings. Although many seemingly effective CPOEs exist, their performance in the clinical environment is highly dependent on the perceived usability and acceptance of the end users. The user interface design is of extreme importance. Complex sequences of action, numerous mouse clicks, and problematic presentation of information are some barriers that can lead to delays and errors (Khajouei, Wierenga, Hasman, Jaspers, 2011; Khanna Yen, 2014; Van Doormaal et al., 2010). Comprehensive training and ongoing support by super users are critical factors to clinicians acceptance and optimal functioning of the system (Khajouei et al., 2011; Staton et al., 2013). The negative impact on multidisciplinary interaction is profound, but can be facilitated by sound communication policies (Khajouei et al., 2011; Khanna Yen, 2014; Staton et al., 2013; Van Doormaal et al., 2010). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. • 21. Dual Engineering And Integrated Product Development Question #1) Concurrent engineering (also known as simultaneous engineering and integrated product development (IDP)) was originally defined in 1988 by the Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) in its report The Role of Concurrent Engineering in Weapons System Acquisition (Stark, 1998). This practice is opposite to consecutive engineering, where various components of a business (such as marketing, manufacturing, and design) are siloed with one another. Consecutive engineering leads to a throw it over the wall mentality, as one business component such as marketing performs the tasks required for its division and then would send it down the line to design. This fragmented business structure leads to quality issues in the product development, which results in greater cost and slower development (Stark, 1998). In addition, a company can expect with consecutive engineering to have many engineering changes occur, issues with production, and lower product competiveness. These engineering changes can negatively affect the cost of the product, as a change that occurs much farther down the process will have higher scrap and rework associated with changes that occurred earlier in the product conception. • 23. Authority In Max Weber s Three Types Of Authority Max Weber proposed that there are three distinct types of authority. These are, charismatic authority, traditional authority, and legal rational authority. All of these authorities are important to understand. Mostly, because they play huge roles in day to day life. For anything so present in the world, the general population, should, at bare minimum, make an attempt to understand the forces around them. Charismatic authority is often envied when its embodiment is seen in real life. Conley explains Max Weber s point of view that those who possess this type of authority are thought to do so naturally and with ease (Conley 577). Many spot this type of authority from a mile away, welcoming it into their lives. Whether this be at work, with a manager who you can help but admire and respect because of their ability to seem to work hard and lead gracefully, to the fellow student who leads a group project in a way that makes the team collaborative and causes the project itself to have a sense of ease to it. Conley points out that charismatic authority has its own place in politics, explaining that there are statistics that show no amount of campaign money will help a candidate win an election if the electorate just doesn t like him or her (578). Along with the previous ideas, it is important to know that charismatic authority is the most difficult to maintain or pass on (578). In a comparison of three different film adaptations of the play Hamlet, the famous To be or not to be speech is often butchered and destroyed with no respect for the original material. Music, scenery, and acting are are vital to the scene and how viewers may understand and appreciate the work and characters in it. Often neglected, it is up to watchers to decide whether or not the work was enjoyable, there are many reasons for those opinions to sway in a certain direction. Olivier, Tennant, and Branagh all had their take at the scene, and in comparison, only one managed to impress and match the stature of the original text. Olivier s portrayal of the To be or not to be soliloquy was utterly atrocious. With the age of the film taken into consideration, it still manages to fail at nearly every aspect and disappoint as much as possible. The strongest point, which in comparison is not strong at all, would have to be the music and sound or lack thereof. The silence definitely is akin to Hamlet s depression and his quiet speaking is attempting to add to that though failing miserably. As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman. In Jones v Lipman Russell J ordered specific performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. We Screwed Up Analysis The world we live in has made many mistakes, and it s far from perfect. In Chip Wards letter We Screwed Up 2012 to his granddaughter Maddie. Chip tells us that he wants to apologize for his and past generations mistakes of being ignorant. He is sorry for depleting all the natural resources, the species going instinct, the chemical obsession and the increase in advertising he refers to as confusion. Nevertheless, chip is sorry for using up all the natural resources. He says it took millions of years for those layers of carbon goo to form under the earth s crust and we used it all up in a geological instant (ward, 2012). He also talks about how we made everything and anything out of oil. This is very true almost everything we have is made from a machine that eats up oil fast. We need to have faith that our generation or that our next generations will be able to develop renewable resources by the time these natural resources expire. Our generations have come up with some amazing things. Who knows what s ahead in the future, but whatever it is, it will be amazing. The Role Of Gender, Individual Trait, And Emotion The role of gender, individual trait, and emotion in response to advertisements using violent vs. non violent images and messages to promote mediated MMA consumption. Sang Yoon Ryu Introduction Over the past few decades, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) industry has dramatically increased (Kim et al, 2008; Lim et al., 2010; Damon et al, 2009; Andrew et al, 2009; Kwak, McDaniel, 2013). The sport exceeded boxing and wrestling as the preferred combat sport among young people (Lafayette Hibbered, 2006). (1998) found that males are more enjoyable for combative sports (e.g., boxing, karate, football, ice hockey) since males assume attracted to violent and aggressive exposure. On the other hand, female preferred stylistic sports (e.g., gymnastics, figure skating, and tennis) since females seem preferring elegance of athletic displays. Some research also indicated that individual differences (sensation seeking; SS) can be variance on the consumption of televised sports (McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). The perception of sensation seeking, which is a biologically determined personality, was related to optimum stimulation level (OSL) and optimum level of arousal (OSL) which helps explain media consumer behavior characters like media consumption and content preferences (Kassarjian Sheffet, 1991). Sensation seeking suggests that a demand for stimulation and arousal explain individual s preference, and react to media violence (Goldstein, 1999; McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). High sensation seekers (HSS) prefer graphically violent content (e.g., Aluja Fabregat 2000, Aluja Torrubia, 1998; Schierman Rowland, 1985; Greene Krcmar, 2005). In addition, sensation seeking was positively connected to violent combative sports (e.g., boxing, karate) for both males and females. • 34. Essay on Use of Computers in Medicine Uses of Computers in the Medical Field By: Tashauna Roberts Introduction In today s society, there is a wide range of computer use. Almost everywhere you go today you are required to have some sort of basic understanding of how a computer is operated. In my report, I am going to tell you how computers are used in the field of medicine. There is a wide variety of use and need for a computer in the medical field. Their uses include storing patient related data, scanning and imaging the body, and assisting speedy communications. Some of the main points I will be discussing is why Health Care Professionals use computers, where computers are used in the Health Care System , and Computer Assisted Surgery. Computers are used by Health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In larger office and hospital settings, they also control patient flow, keeping track of who is in which room or bed, and which rooms and physicians are available for routing patients. Hospital monitoring equipment is usually based on computer programming. Patient monitoring equipment is computers that leave the physician free to perform other duties. Emergency alarms, bed beeping systems, pacemakers, life support systems that monitor and look after patients, and X ray machines are all examples of equipment using computer technology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) use computer software. High resolution images are achieved with the use of computers and infrared cameras. Computers are also used in the medical field for Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS). The most important component of computer assisted surgery is to get an accurate model of the patient. This can be done like I said previously with a MRI, CT Scan, or Ultrasound. The final objective is the creation of a 3D dataset that reproduces the exact geometrical situation of the normal and pathological tissues and structures of that region. Of the available scanning methods, the CT is preferred, because MRI data sets are known to have volumetric deformations that may lead to inaccuracies. (As cited in biomed.brown.edu/Courses/BI108/BI108_2005_Groups/04/) Computer assisted surgery is the beginning of a revolution in surgery, it makes a huge difference in high ... • 36. Digital Screen Advantages And Disadvantages Paper or plastic? was the often heard question from the bagger at the grocery store for many years, but these days the bigger decision is whether to read words on paper or a digital screen. Paper has a long and documented history, having been in use for over 2000 years, while the availability of the digital screen has only come about in the past 50 years. Both paper and digital screens provide the same fundamental function, an avenue for the written word to be conveyed and understood by a person. While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen are fundamentally the same, using paper still has a unique set of advantages such as the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of proofreading, and the increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The ability to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to consider hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t change when having to accomplish reading for a project or a research paper. The longer it takes the user to finish the reading, the harder it becomes to accomplish the job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computer to perform reading can be advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open and be able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to perform work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film received mixed reviews from audiences and professional critics. He lost his job, which meant loss of his status as a provider. When reminded by his ex wife that he [doesn t] even pay child support, he responded with a stern, Don t talk like that (Falling Down dir. Joel Schumacher). This proved that Foster was familiar with the association between providing and being manly, and highlighted his own disappointment. Foster lost his status as a defender and protector as well, when his wife divorced him. He became desperate in his search for a meaning or reason for his existence ( I m Going Home... ), and resorted to using violence as a coping mechanism to regain some control of his masculinity. As the day progressed in the film, Foster picked up more violent items after each confrontation. First, he took the baseball bat from the Korean storeowner. Then, he took a knife and a bag of guns from the Spanish gang. Finally, he took a rocket launcher from his encounter with the neo Nazi, after he killed him. Foster s violence was also manifested through his behavior at Whammyburger, when he pulled his gun out because he wanted breakfast after they stopped serving it. He also attempted to assert dominance at the construction site, where he demanded an explanation from the worker and fired his rocket launcher. At the end of the film, Foster realized he lost everything that once defined his masculinity. He understood that the only way he could reclaim a portion of his manhood and worth was by dying ( I m Going Home... ). • 38. How To Write A Drag Racing Essay Drag Racing Drag racing is a form of racing in which two cars line up at the same place, and race each other down a straight track. The first one to cross the finish line wins. Starting If you want to start drag racing, which I personally think is very hard, you ve got to have some money. Things you ll need are a trailer, some options of different kinds of trailers are an open trailer, (about $2,500), or an enclosed trailer, (about $5,000), or if you have more than one car that you want to take, you could get a stacker trailer. A stacker trailer is trailer with a lift that you can drive a car onto and then lift it up in the air and it will stay there and then you can drive another car in underneath it. Those usually cost about $20,000.My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you go to a small race track, most of the time you ll know all of the staff, workers, and other racers. My advice for you is to become involved with helping out at the track. If a worker or staff member needs help with something, you should help out. Not only will you get a good reputation there, but you ll be liked more and can even get some benefits such as being able to come into the track and practice. If another racer needs a part, and you have an extra, why not let them borrow it? It will once again help your reputation out. Plus, if your car ever breaks and you need a part, they will most likely pay you back and let you borrow the part you need. Racing And now for the fun Racing. There is more to drag racing then there seems. It s not just smash your foot to the floor and drive straight. There s way more to it. You have to have your car tuned right, and make sure that everything is working well on your car, plus you need to be maintaining your car, and you need to be figuring out your dial in. The dial in is the elapsed time you think your car will run (usually to the hundredth of the second). If you go faster then your dial in, then you break out, which means you are disqualified. For example, if you dialed a 4.00 and ran a 3.99 you would have broken out, and you would be done racing for that class for the day. And then you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spring Walk Farm, the name of which comes from the land and the spring by which they would have to walk to get to the barn, was established just north of Nashville in the late 1800s by William Wachtel. It s now run by the father son team of Bill and Kurt, who inherited it from William s son and Bill s father, Floyd. Floyd was born in 1918 to William and Lena, who lived down the road from today s main farmhouse. It s the same home into which Bill and his two sisters and Kurt and his two sisters were born. Bill and wife, Beverly, to whom he was married in 1963, moved into the main farmhouse when their children were young. Originally, William Wachtel milked all his Guernsey cows by hand. It was Floyd who introduced portable milkers, which were carted from stall to stall, with milk captured in buckets transported by hand to cans stored in a cooler in the milk house. By this time, the number of cows milked on the farm had doubled. In the 1950s, a milking parlor was constructed and it s in there, with pipelines running from each stanchion to bulk tanks, the milk makes its way to await transfer into a cooler truck, which will haul it away. And, while the job was getting more streamlined, it didn t make adjustment to farm life any easier for Beverly, who grew up as a city girl from Millersburg. Based on where the marble rolls in one end and out the other, you can infer where the target is underneath the cardboard and where the target has a flat edge, or doesn t have any edges that stick out. This is because if the marble hits the shape, the speed at which it bounces off of it will be even slower than the speed at which it was rolled and its path might be changed before it rolls out of the black box.A slower marble also may make a wider angle if it bounces off of the shape. If the speed of the marble rolls were faster, it may also be hard to make an accurate prediction, because if the marble is moving too fast, the way in which the marble bounces off of the shape would be different. A faster marble may make a smaller angle as it bounces off of the shape. If the size of the marble was bigger, the shape would appear to be smaller and if the size of the marbles were smaller, the shape would appear to be bigger. This is because as the size of the marbles changes, so does the angles that they make, when they bounce off of the shape. This angle size depends on the speed and size of the marbles and when one of those variables are changed, it can make it difficult to determine the position and shape of the ...
