Multinational Companies And Tax Avoidance
1. Introduction
With the development of modern society, multinational companies reach higher profits than before.
For instance, Starbucks got 495 million of sales revenue while it only paid 6 million of tax to the
government. It turns into the topic of tax avoidance. Actually, there are many multinational companies
use the strategy of tax avoidance, and Starbucks is just one of the examples.
1.1 Multinational Companies and Tax Avoidance
First of all, the definition of multinational companies and tax avoidance should be learnt.
Multinational companies are those companies have international branches, shops or manufacture
factories in both local and foreign countries. And the tax avoidance is a company which uses legal
methods to escape paying the tax for its own profits. Obviously, the multinational companies such as
Starbucks use this strategy is to enlarge the profit.
Although these companies claimed that they had taken high level social responsibility of business,
they have kept using tax avoidance which should be included in the social responsibility. However, it
has been largely silent on the issue of the payment of corporate tax. It is serious that such fundamental
tax payments present a company s citizenship behavior.
However, because there are legal ways to avoid payment of corporate tax, which is a representative of
a boundary condition for corporate social responsibility. Despite the fact that the law and CSR always
provide the suggestion on paying the tax,

Tony Blair s Approach to Power Essay
Tony Blair s Approach to Power Since Labour came into power in 1997 Tony Blair has been criticised
by some for being the son of Thatcher . Many say that labour is now following the values and policies
similar to that of a Tory government and in particular a Tory government lead by Margaret Thatcher.
Before the time of Tony Blair and New Labour, the left wing party stood firm on one value and that
was socialism. More on Labours old Values and policies The conservatives on the other hand have
very different policies or not so different as some may argue. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher lead
the conservative government from 1979 1990 and she made some very radical changes that have

Benefits for the unemployed were amongst those worst affected. The idea behind this economic
change was to make unemployment less attractive, thus forcing the unemployed to take lower wage
jobs. The Conservatives hoped that this would drastically lower the unemployment rate. And finally,
Thatcher reduced and in some cases withdrew subsidies to many industries, compelling the closure of
many concerns and the more efficient operation of the rest in the face of international competition. All
of these economic changes made by Margaret Thatcher were extremely right wing with very capitalist
values. All her policies were heavily criticised by Labour which is why it seems strange that Tony
Blair has adopted many of her values and policies. As labour were so against privatisation in the 1980
s most thought that they would try and change things when they were in power. This of course was not
the case and in 1997 Tony Blair s labour government showed willingness to keep privatisation as an
option and private ownership plans were not disgarded as some thought they might be, they were in
fact extended. Blair s government planned to sell 51% of air traffic control and they also introduced
private ownership in some of the London Underground s busiest lines. He then introduced the idea of
Private Finance Initiative.

Fanaticism In Texas
The state of Texas is globally associated with images of the wild west and horseback riding cowboys
such as John Wayne. These thousands of classic western novels and films have shaped the world s
perspective of the large state of Texas. Contrary to popular opinion, Texas lifestyle is not as portrayed,
Texans do not travel by horseback to local convenience stores or go on long cattle drives. However,
the history of cowboys has been preserved over years and have significantly impacted Texas culture,
Texans take great pride in their history as well as their rights as American citizens. Americans are
known for their profound fanaticism of firearms and Texas is no exception. According to a poll taken
by the University of Texas, 1,200 of the voters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as the National Rifle Association, also known as the NRA, and their large number of supporters, have
pursued campaigns against gun control at the local, state, and federal levels. Due to the efforts of
former White House Press Secretary James S. Brady, congress passed a federal gun control bill,

Why Lily s Father Prevented Her From Going For Grammar...
6. I believe that Lily s father prevented her from going to grammar school for a variety of reasons.
One would be that he saw her as mainly a source of income and looked at the here and now value of
her work, rather than her getting a better job in the future. Second, he felt insulted because his kid
would get a better job than what he had and he had never had the privilege to go to a nice school
because he had been deprived of his childhood. He felt that if he couldn t have it then she couldn t
either. To a certain degree, je must ve felt jealousy and anger. His pride was insulted because so many
people forgot about him and never even gave him a chance; they just forced him to do things and here
his children were, privileged and they didn t even realize how lucky they were.
7. The war changed the talk of the town significantly. War forces people to look death and loss in the
eye. When people look death in the eye, they often become their true selves. When they looked
around, they stopped seeing the petty lines but instead saw people as they truly were: no better or
worse than the other. They saw how similar they all were: they all had something to lose. They all
shared the same fear of death, losing their belongings, and losing one another. They were forced to
figure out the truth in things rather than the facades everyone puts up. They were united as a country
rather than separated by a religion. They stopped their judgments. The wall was still there, but the war

Jefferson Airplane Thesis
Patrick Burke s thesis is found towards the end of the first section. He stated he will argue that the
Airplane s references to black culture and politics were multifaceted and involved both condescending
or naïve radical posturing and sincere respect for African American music. (66) He discussed the first
part of his thesis in the majority of his article. In one example of this, Burke states it was difficult to
tell if Jefferson Airplane were making fun of stereotypes or simply perpetuating them. (74) In another
example, Burke stated that Airplane would casually refer to African Americans as a derogatory term in
their interviews. His explanation for this was it may have reflected a hip, ironic sense of superiority to
racism, or perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(62) It was not, as many people first believed it to be, a simple replication of earlier minstrelsy. (62)
Burke argued against this point by stating that Slick was instead influenced by other rock artists of the
time. They cast themselves as political revolutionaries by enacting a romanticized vision of African
American identity. (63) Burke s final statement on the subject was that Slick s blackface may have
seemed to play at revolutionary policies by imitating African American radicals, but instead
exemplified the frequent emptiness and arrogance of rock s politics.

Gross National Happiness By Herbert Spencer
Gross National Happiness, The Introduction of Democracy; Categorizing the Fourth King (Eventful or
Event making, Transactional or Transformational)
Herbert Spencer introduces the idea of two types of leaders which are the eventful man and the event
making man. The event making man is a man whose actions influenced development. He finds/creates
the fork in the road whereas an eventful man stumbles upon greatness, anyone can do it. In terms of
making big decisions, one is special and the other isn t. The eventful man in history is any man whose
actions influenced subsequent developments along a quite different course than would have been
followed if these actions had not meet taken. The event making man is an eventful man whose actions
are the consequences of outstanding capacities of intelligence, will, and character rather than of
accidents of position (Hook 25 26). When the 17 year old crown prince ascended to the throne, Bhutan
was still as researcher Thierry Mathou describes it, an isolated country with a conservative and
traditionalist polity . He states that although it is definite that the Third King had initiated most
significant and substantial reforms between 1952 and 1972 in the political, diplomatic, social and
economic spheres. None of the changes occurring during the last thirty years would have been
possible without going through this period. Yet those reforms had little impact on the way the general
populace was able to picture itself as an actor of

Punk Groupies Research Paper
The Punk Groupies Tale
Once upon a time, there was a little kid named Ed the Punk Wood, aged fourteen, who enjoyed punk
music more than anyone he ever knew. His friends Luke, Alex, and Joe always tagged along with him
whenever there was a good punk show in town that they had to go see! So one day Ed spread the word
about one of his favorite bands, The World Inferno/Friendship Society are coming to play at one of his
favorite venues on earth, Asbury Lanes. Asbury Lanes was a bowling alley that was also a concert
venue. Basically they shut down five or six of their bowling lanes and constructed the building into

When the band starts, the pit starts up. For the first couple of songs, Ed and the boys observe the pit
from the outer ring of it for the first four or so songs. Then after about twenty or so minutes into the
set, Luke and Ed jump into the pit and skank along to the beat of the song. After Joe and Alex looked
at each other a couple of times, they decided it was time to try and mosh themselves. So they try it and
they have succeeded at moshing around the circle: because that s the way they wanted to dance.
In conclusion, Alex and Joe overcame their fears of being in the pit. They are now both very
comfortable to dance with other crazy punks to their favorite bands in the whole wide world. If they
keep following up with Luke and Ed on their moshing skills, they could end up being professional
moshers like they are! But overall, you don t have be the best at dancing in the pit, it s just about
having more fun while at a punk show. Just be aware of your surroundings be being cautious about the
other moshers around you.
One shouldn t act without first considering the possible consequences or

The Portrait Statue Augustus Of Prima Porta, Cleopatra
Portraiture is an old art form that dates back to ancient Egypt where it gained popularity five thousand
years before. A portrait is a sculpture, painting, drawing, or engraving of a person that usually only
depicts the head or head and shoulders. Before photography was invented a sculptured, painted, or
drawn portrait was the most common way to document someones appearance. Besides recording a
persons looks portraiture was used to portray the subjects beauty, importance, power, virtue, wealth,
and taste. You can see these ideals reflected in the Augusta of Prima Porta, Cleopatra, and the Parthian

Social Media In Presidential Elections
Throughout history, presidential candidates have capitalized to newspapers, radio, television and now
social media to inform about the campaign proposals. In the middle of the Digital Age, social media
platforms such Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn performed an important role during the US
presidential elections 2016.
President elect of the United States, Donald Trump made social networks his main means of contact
with the US and foreign population during his campaign. However, his contact with mass media is no

In terms of the utility of this decision to hunt the gray whale, the tribal leaders are attempting to instill
a pride and happiness in the tribe s traditions to bolster their youth. They are not concerned in the
possible consequences of the actions this hunt may environmentally cause later down the road to the
whale population. In Kant s Theory we learned that Kant objected to the idea that morality could
depend on consequences (Burnor and Raley 156), thus the tribe utilizing Kant s theory by primarily
being concerned with instilling pride in its cultural traditions at whatever the possible cost. The Makah
tribal leaders are motivated by their perceived cultural, moral duty to the younger generations and
what they ought to do (Burnor and Raley 217). The Makah tribe is attempting to exercise its right of
property concerning the whales, and its long historical, cultural tradition of hunting them for rites of
passage to manhood and pride. According to Locke this right of property involves everything over
which one should be able to control within their domain of autonomy (Burnor and Raley 193). The
Makah tribe feels it has autonomy over its traditions and religious beliefs. The tribal leaders feel that
they have the moral privilege under natural rights to utilize, or exercise control over the gray whale

Model Simulation And Fire Model For Biological Neurons
Introduction The human nervous system is composed of billions of neurons that respond to stimuli,
conduct impulses, and communicate with other cells. Dendrites, a branched extension of a nerve cell,
receives information from other neurons. The soma, or cell body, is responsible for whether or not the
neuron sends out signals consisting of a short electrical pulse called an action potential, or spike. This
spike is carried out by axons, delivering it to other neurons, and has a duration of a few milliseconds
and an amplitude of 100 mV. A biological neuron model is a mathematical description of the
properties of nerve cells that is designed to accurately describe and predict biological processes. One
way to do so is by using the integrate and fire model which displays a trajectory of fluctuating
potential versus time in the sub threshold regime and outputs spikes that are triggered when the
membrane potential reaches its threshold. Once this threshold is reached, the membrane potential is
then reset, allowing the process to start again.
Model Simulation and Graphs In creating the leaky integrate and fire model, using the information
given, such as the parameters and threshold we created an if statement within a for loop (see Appendix
A for complete code). The code was set with parameters 푅 and 휏 equal to one and 퐼0 equal to two.

Each of these areas has a historic recorded hit by one or more major hurricanes. Because hurricane
winds start at 75 mph and can reach up to 156 miles per hour or more, the damage of the winds can be
extensive (NOAA). Winds will rip the roof off of a house or tip over a mobile home. Debris is
scattered with bullet like force. Storm surge floods buildings, streets and lands. Hurricane spawned
tornado winds cause extra natural destruction. Finally, what little natural habitat is left untouched by
humans can be fully devastated by hurricane aftermath.
Most Atlantic hurricanes start out in the North Atlantic Ocean, which is called the hurricane breeding

Violent Programs on Television Lead to Aggressive Behavior...
Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations
has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Conclusions deduced from this data
prove that violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children and teenagers who
watch those programs. Television violence affects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels,
and all levels of intelligence.
Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death, killings, torture,
and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable youth. When children are young,
they are impressionable to all their surroundings, and especially vulnerable to what they see. ... Show

A particular focus of the study was the media s portrayal of violence and the public s personal
experiences. Television is the primary source of media for most American citizens, and therefore
television violence is the primary source for viewing violence in both adults and children. This report
gave evidence of the media s ability to socialize the viewers to the norms and values of the culture.
Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen only as a re
enforcer and not a creator.
Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure to
violence in the media that affects children. In his studies, children watched models perform aggressive
acts against a doll. These acts of aggression were presented under three circumstances: 1. the children
saw the model rewarded for aggressive behavior, 2. the children saw the model receive no
consequences for their aggressive behavior, and 3. the children saw the model punished. All three
groups were able to imitate the aggressive behavior that contradicts early notions that the influences of
violence were not negative if the violence was not glorified.

Analysis Of Racism In Ralph Ellison s A Party Down At The...
Racism is one of the world s major issues today. Many people are not aware of how much racism still
exists in our schools, at work, and anywhere else where social lives are happening. In the story, A
Party Down at the Square demonstrates how white folks are rank the highest in their hierarchy and the
way they treat the blacks as if they were less than a human being. Judging someone by the color of
their skin and ethnicity is ignorant. No human race is superior; no religious faith is inferior. All
collective judgments are wrong. Only racists make them . We are all human and we bleed the same
color blood. Race is just a group of people who have differences and similarities which is why we
treat others differently, and that shouldn t let people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those of us who brought India food from home all sat at the same table in the cafeteria. Boys would
wander by our table and sing, shiiit. I smell shiiit. They would lean over our shoulders, look at our
food.... and gag (Sharma, Par.3). This quote shows that people can quickly judge them not only by
color, but by the things they do, like: the food they eat, the way they practice their religions, and
crimes committed by certain racial group, etc. They think Indian s food smells disgusting. When
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out: the movie shows Indians eating snakes and monkey
brains. At lunch one day, a black boy asked me what I was eating, and I said snake, Snake! he began
yelling (Sharma, Par.3). The black boy yelled in shocked, making people to start creating stereotypes
about how all Indians eat snakes just because they saw some Indian kids at school eating them. Not
only is racism being received from different people, but also, sometimes your relatives does it. When
they came, they stayed up late, playing cards with other Indians who lived in our neighborhood, and
they teased my mother for her religiosity by burping loudly and crying, Brahma speaks! (Sharma,
Par.4). They were making fun of his mother s religiosity. Every racial groups have different religions
and beliefs and people shouldn t judge you just by religious beliefs

Why GPR Is Important
Bones can tell us a lot, these pieces of hard, whitish tissue makes up the skeleton in humans and other
vertebrates. Without these strong pieces of tissue, we would be able to have the body structure or
move in many different ways, or let alone have the protection we need for our internal organs. Bones
are important when it comes to the structure of human beings and vertebrates. What happens to these
bones when it is time for humans to die? They become buried deep within the earth. The earth was
literally filled with bones, evidently hastily place there or left where the dead fell. (Archeological
Expedition to Arizona in 1895 by Jesse Walter Fewkes). If there could be bones under the ground, we
walk on how are we able to extract such items ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When using GPR it is unable to identify any underground utilities that the user many come across.
Such as determining if the piping that is found is gas, or water, this can become dangerous because
you would have to limit the area of where you dig and to make sure you are not damaging a line that
has been detected. Even though these measurements can be increased your typical GPR can penetrate
the depth of concrete surfaces form 18 24. Other surfaces such as grass can range from a penetration
of 6 10. This can pose a challenge because, the evidence or what is being extracted can be buried
deeper than the limit of the GPR which can cause an Undiscovery of evidence or also a danger to
extractors who are unaware of what they can be digging into below. Another disadvantage that GPR
has is, this is an expensive tool you would not be able to go out and find this at your local Wal Mart let
alone at a cheap price for a good one, you are going to spend some money to have a good and accurate
GPR tester. GPR also requires experience before operating, it was stated it should take up to 3 days
depending on the pace that you learn, to be able to operate a GPR system. Unless you are familiar with
the tool, you are going to need proper training on how to operate this system. This can serve a problem
to an anthropology group and or law enforcement because if this tool is needed to extract evidence
someone who as the proper training and knowledge of this tool has to be present in order for the
discovery to be properly extracted. Another disadvantage that I was able to discovery is that most GPR
tools require the ground to be a leveled out surface. Without the surface being properly leveled out this
can cause a un detection of evidence or whatever is trying to be detected below, this can also give off a
misread in that particular

A Comparison of Two Commencement Speeches Essay
Graduating from school is only one of the essential tools for a young person to have a successful life.
A person endures many long years of schooling, and then the graduation day finally arrives. That
special day is one of the most momentous days in a young student s life. Happiness and sadness are
the two emotions a person will feel on that special day. A student will experience happiness because of
a significant milestone that was completed in the student s life. The sad emotions will arise because of
a terrifying new chapter in the book of life that is about to begin. Both Bradley Whitford and His
Holiness the Dalai Lama give their commencement speeches by using humor to relax the mood of the
crowd, making light of their fame, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, both of the speakers incorporate their fame to try and get a meaningful message across to the
young people before going out into the real world. Being famous does not mean that you are a perfect
person without flaws, and fame takes hard work and dedication. Whitford talks about why in the
world, the college would opt instead for a glorified circus clown from a television show (1). By
poking fun at himself and not acting superior, he is letting the audience know that everyone is equal.
Whitford establishes a common ground with the students, and it makes the students feel comfortable
listening to his words and advice. Whitford talks about how he only has two areas of expertise
reproduction and acting (2). That means that all people have an area in their lives where they can be
considered an expert. The Dalai Lama expresses to the students that he will try and speak directly
through broken English (1). Immediately that tells the graduating class that the Dalai Lama is not
perfect, and he has to work hard for his place in society. His English was not perfect, but he essentially
told the students with courage anything is possible. Some people look up to famous people, but both
speakers try and establish themselves as ordinary people trying to find success in their lives.
Incorporating their faults into the speeches lets the graduates know that it takes dedication and hard
work to achieve success. Even imperfect people can have what it takes to find a job that

The Positive Effects Of Cooperative Learning
1 The positive effects of cooperative learning
Many different researchers in different academic fields undertook experimental studies to compare the
effects of the cooperative learning methods and the traditional teaching methods on student learning
and other outcomes. These varied fields are as follows: principles and methods of teaching (Kilic,
2008); and accounting education (Hwang, Lui Tong, 2005); mathematics and science; Nattiv, 1994;
Vaughan, 2002); social studies (Lampe, Rooze Tallent Runnels, 1996; Adeyemi, 2008); geography
(Yager, Johnson, Johnson, 1985); chemical bonding (Doymus, 2008a Doymus, 2008b).

Furthermore, cooperative learning facilitates greater improvement in self esteem than does
competitive or individualistic learning environments (Johnson Johnson, 2005). In some studies (Kilic,
2008; Bertucci et al. 2010) students self esteem increased in cooperative situations because students
were involved in cooperative efforts. The findings reported above validate the results of other studies
(Mulryan, 1994; Whicker Nunnery, 1997; Nhu Le, 1999; Vaughan, 2002; Gillies, 2006; Zain,
Subramaniam, Rashid Ghani, 2009; Kose, Sahin, Ergun Gezer, 2010; Le, 2010; Thanh Pham. 2011)
which report that cooperative learning promotes more use of higher level learning skills, more positive
cohesion among participants, higher self esteem in learning and more positive feelings toward the
learning task. In summary, it may be argued that cooperative learning appears to be an effective way to
engage students in the learning

The World Of The Great Crusade
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months.
The eyes of the world are upon you is what was heard by nearly 160,000 allied troops. And for many,
it was the last thing they heard. On June 6th, 1944 one of the biggest invasions in history was
underway, Operation Overlord, more commonly known as the battle of Normandy. With the fall of
France in 1940, and the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, Germany s power seemed endless.
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill believed that even with the help of the United States, Britain
did not have the adequate forces to take back Europe and wished to avoid costly frontal assaults.
(Operation Overlord) In attempts to take back Europe, there were plans and operations such as
operation round up and operation sledgehammer that were put forward in 1942 and 1943 but neither
of them were deemed practical or likely to succeed by the British. In response, the Allies decided to
launch the invasion of French North Africa in 1942, the invasion of Sicily in 1943, and the invasion of
Italy. These invasions did not cause a major impact in the taking back of Europe but were able to
provide plenty of intangibles such as valuable experience in invasions and amphibious warfare, the
use of naval warfare combined with aerial warfare. The decision for a cross channel invasion which
became the battle of Normandy was taken at the Trident Conference in Washington in May 1943. With

Essay on The Importance of Identity in Homer s Odyssey
The Importance of Identity in Homer s Odyssey
Within the epic poem The Odyssey , Homer presents the story of Odysseus s quest to find his home
and his identity. According to Homer s account, with its origin in oral tradition, the two quests are
interchangeable, as a mortal defines himself with his home, his geographic origin, his ancestors, his
offspring, etc. But in addition to this Homer illustrates the other aspect of human identity, shaped by
the individual and his actions so that he may be recognized in the outside world. Through this Homer
presents Odysseus in two ways: the first his internally given identity as ruler and native of Ithaca, son
of Laertes, father of Telemachos; the second the definition of the external world ... Show more content

Homer presents this clearly in the following instances: Helen s description of Odysseus disguising
himself to enter into the city of Troy and in doing so gaining information that would allow him to
destroy his mortal enemies, a trademark ploy that he also uses when returning to his homeland of
Ithaca to infiltrate the rank of suitors; additionally in the sequence with the Cyclops in which
Odysseus eludes danger by taking on the guise of Noman or one without a name .
For Odysseus, the ability to disguise his identity presents an opportunity through which he can
conquer his enemies at Troy and thereby establish great fame and external identity through public
recognition. Through the voice of Helen, Homer demonstrates how Odysseus became so
unrecognizable that he was able to enter into Troy, defying both his mortal enemies and the immortal
Poseidon who built Troy s walls to be impenetrable:
But what a deed this one mighty man did and dared...
When he had submitted himself to disfiguring blows,
He threw a poor covering over his shoulders and in the likeness
Of a servant he entered the enemy s broad streeted city...
In that guise he entered the city of the Trojans. They all
Overlooked him. I alone recognized him as he was.
And I questioned him. He eluded me cunningly,
But when I was

Myths are Legendary or Traditional Stories Usually with a...
Myths are traditional or legendary stories, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or
without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation. The stories of Daniel Boone and the Epic
of Gilgamesh are both myths, but a major difference they have is that Daniel Boone is a true and real
life story, while Gilgamesh uses historical details to create the story, but it is fictional. Based off of
ancient documents, we know that Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk in Mesopotamia. Boone on the
other hand, was closer to our actual time period .Daniel Boone played a significant role in the
exploration and settlement of Kentucky and the U.S. western frontier. On Boone s voyage of
colonization it took Boone and his companions several years of horrible and deceitful, on both sides,
encounters. Unlike Daniel Boone, Gilgamesh s conquest of Humbaba, the king of cedar forest, in a
single journey. Both Daniel and Gilgamesh did things that not only stirred emotions in their citizens
(Gilgamesh and Uruk, Daniel and the American settlers), but also inspired the people. Boone has
similarities to Gilgamesh, but Odysseus is far more different for the story of Daniel Boone.
Homer, the author of Odysseus, took several aspects of Greek heroes and human personalities to
create Odysseus. He gives Odysseus particular characteristics, like a scar, to characteristics we
associate with individuals, like laughing and crying. Homer does to make it seem like Odysseus is a
real person, but is a

Timothy Findley s Famous Last Words
After being recognized as an exceptional writer, Timothy Findley published the novel Famous Last
Words in 1981. Findley is known for his novels featuring many themes...including war, displacement,
and emotional repression (Quill and Quire 1). Although Findley s works contain these specific themes,
are the narrators of these novels reliable? Usually A narrative normally begins with an Orientation,
introducing and identifying the participants in the action: the time, the place, and the initial behavior
(Labov 2). Using Labov s reasoning, is Mauberley a reliable narrator whose word the reader can
accept his words as the truth? Labov also states that For a narrative to be successful, it cannot report
only the most reportable event. It must also be credible...the more reportable, the less credible (5). The
term reportable refers to an event that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After falling asleep, the Duke of Windsor has a dream in which he was alone (Findley 232). It is
evident that Mauberley, the narrator, cannot narrate another character s dreams. Furthermore, the Duke
of Windsor mentions that he was alone , which proves why Mauberley could not narrate the dream
truthfully.
The reliability of Mauberley s narrative as the truth is considered a lie. Mauberley narrates several
scenes encounters between Edward and Queen Mary, Allenby and Lindbergh, von Ribbentrop and
Schellenberg at which he was not present, and for which he has no plausible, naturalistic source
(Scobie 1). Furthermore, Mauberley is a pro Fascist, which is why people cannot trust him as the
narrator.
According to Scobie, on many different occasions within the narrative there is Mauberley s attraction
to Fascism (1). Fascism is a right wing political system characterized by state control and extreme
nationalism (Fascism). Although Mauberley is not directly labelled a Fascist, he does however
embody many of the

The Endangered Species Act, Or Esa For Short
The Endangered Species Act, or ESA for short, became a law in 1973 and is enforced by the U.S. to
protect species from extinction, mainly due to development for economic growth. The ESA is one of
the most popular and effective environmental laws ever enacted. It is a commitment by humans to
work together to protect and restore those species that are most at risk of extinction. Unfortunately, the
natural systems we depend on are at risk, and plants and animals worldwide are disappearing. In the
United States alone hundreds of plant and animal species have become extinct since the time of the
first settlers. There two federal agencies that are in charge of the act are the Fish and Wildlife Service
and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A species is considered for protection
under the ESA when a high portion of the species is likely to become endangered in a foreseeable
time. Overall there are about 2,200 species that are listed as endangered or threatened under the ESA
and of these about 600 are foreign found species. The main goal of the ESA is to prevent jeopardized
animals and plants from becoming extinct and removing or decreasing any threat to their survival. It is
important to make sure that no species die out so as to not upset the environmental balance. When we
protect all species, we are protecting the entire habitat, therefore, we are maintaining the safety of our
own environment as humans. One of the rarest members of the bear family is

Proteus mirabilis:
I. Introduction:
Proteus mirabilis is a Gram negative, dimorphic bacillus and a facultative anaerobe bacterium. It is a
motile member of the family Enterobacteriaceae. This bacteria colonies shows a unique characteristic
called swarming behavior. Swarming occurs when the flagellate rods grow into long chain swarmer
cells, the swarmers gather together forming rafts that swim together, growing into a complex biofilm.
P. mirabilis virulence factors include swarming motility and urease production. Ref: Joan L, John F.

Diseases:
Statistically, about 90% of the proteus infections are caused by proteus mirabilis. It is an opportunist
pathogen, which means it can cause diseases if it colonizes another place other than the
gastrointestinal tract.
P. mirabilis is commonly associated with urinary tract infections. The infection begins when the
organism moves from urethra to the urinary bladder. Urinary tract infections caused by P. mirabilis are
mostly found in patients under long term catherization. Other groups of patients that are at high risks
of the diseases include; those patients with structural abnormalities of the urinary tract, patients with
recurrent infections and patients whose infections were acquired in the hospital or long term care
facilities.
Proteus mirabilis infections accounts for 1% 2% of urinary tract infections in healthy women, 5% of
nosocomial urinary infections and catheterization has a high prevalence of 20% 45%. The organism
causes bladder infection and kidney infection. P. mirabilis produces large amounts of urease which
splits urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. This process increases the alkalinity of the urine and also
it precipitates magnesium and calcium in the form of struvite and apatite crystals respectively. The
results is the formation of renal stones.

A Serious Problem Of Testicular Cancer
A serious problem that exists among the Maori population in some areas of N.Z. is testicular (teste)
cancer. It affects young men from all backgrounds and there is little research on what risk factors there
are. The encyclopaedia Britannica online defines teste cancer as a disease characterized by
uncontrolled growth of cells within the testis, the reproductive organ that produces sperm. Testicular
cancer represents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most common malignancy for
men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most serious health problem among
Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be discussed. First of all, testicular
cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant damage on patient and family.
Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis of testicular cancer is a cause for
concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference between Maori and Pakeha psychology
and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori patients. Finally, there is general reluctance for
Maori to seek mental health which leads to difference between diagnosis and treatment.
Firstly, the mental and physical anguish that surrounds testicular cancer is so significant because it is
the most common cancer affecting men between the ages of 15 and 39, but it is not limited to this age
range. However, young men typically do not get a lot of cancer, so overall testicular cancer is a

Media Portrayals Of Media Affecting Women
Media can be seen as a channel of communication in whereupon millions of people frequently use in
their daily lives. So, with all of this technology around, how is the media portrayal of beauty affecting
women? According to Cheryl J. Haas, Laura A. Pawlow. Jon Pettibone, and Dan J. Segrist, Research
has shown media exposure to unattainable physical perfection is detrimental to people, especially
women and that inimical effects are currently more the rule than the exception (1). When a person
feels as if they do not compeer with the standard of beauty media has set, that individual develops
negative emotions towards themselves which can lead to ailing eating habits including binge eating,
purging, or starving. Several studies further reveal a show in a decrease of self esteem, including other
psychological distress, following exposure to idealized media portrayal. Moreover, the media
portrayal of beauty has a detrimental effect on the way young women perceive themselves. Media
bombards our everyday life with unrealistic images and drills in our minds what the ideal girl looks
like; this leads to individuals developing unhealthy habits and negative self perception based on their
appearance. However, understanding media has helped in the long run. When females view images of
the idealized thin woman, they often alter their eating habits in attempt to match the unrealistic photo
they have witnessed. Every girl strives to be and feel beautiful. In consequence, when they see an

The Importance Of Writing And Technology
Writing and Technology Believe it or not, writing takes place in almost all aspects of our everyday
life. As a future teacher, it will be important that I have the best education to enhance my student s
writing. I will need to understand what type of learners my students are and how to accommodate
writing based on each learner. Standards also play an important role in student writing, standards help
guide students to the grade level in which they need to be. Various factors can impact a student s
writing abilities, I ve found many online tools that will help me teach writing and help my students
become motivated in writing. The first online tool, Education World, provides various tools, such as
Google Docs, 3D Writer, Button Talk, and Poetry Forge. This site will benefit all types of learners.
Google Docs benefits visual learners and auditory learners because students will be able to see what is
being typed or listen to what is being typed. This standard could align with Text Types and Purposes,
this tool could help students write narratives, opinion pieces, or even informative pieces. This tool will
also meet Production and Distribution of Writing in the sense that students can use technology to
produce writing and collaborate with others. This site could be used across all content areas. Students
can take notes on Google Docs and share their notes with a peer if need be. Education World provides

Accounting Is The Most Boring
Accounting is commonly depicted as the most boring, yet reliable profession possibly offered in the
business school. But what if accountants managed to scam millions? How about billions? Accounting
is a seemingly innocuous career, but corporations can manipulate their current financial state and
become more appealing to investors with some clever help from their accountants. Accountants could
embellish financial statements or secure higher balances for wage expenditures. A typical corporate
mistake is improperly segregating duties of employees. If someone has more than one task, such as
recording inflow of cash and controlling where it goes, then a chance of embezzlement can occur.
Embezzlement is when an employee, usually under good faith, takes a small sum of money to pay
personal finances under the guise of paying it back, but does it so often that they eventually get caught
by an increased amount of missing cash. The SEC, Securities and Exchange Commission, carefully
monitors these conniving, dishonest businesses. To enhance the duties of this agency, President Bush
in 2002 signed the Sarbanes Oxley Act, which dictated that publicly traded companies must maintain
adequate internal control systems. Despite the strong reinforcements of regulating agencies such as
SEC commissioners and auditors, corporations still manage to circumvent the proper accounting
techniques that prevent fraudulent behaviors. Because of the consequences observed from the Enron

  • 2. Multinational Companies And Tax Avoidance 1. Introduction With the development of modern society, multinational companies reach higher profits than before. For instance, Starbucks got 495 million of sales revenue while it only paid 6 million of tax to the government. It turns into the topic of tax avoidance. Actually, there are many multinational companies use the strategy of tax avoidance, and Starbucks is just one of the examples. 1.1 Multinational Companies and Tax Avoidance First of all, the definition of multinational companies and tax avoidance should be learnt. Multinational companies are those companies have international branches, shops or manufacture factories in both local and foreign countries. And the tax avoidance is a company which uses legal methods to escape paying the tax for its own profits. Obviously, the multinational companies such as Starbucks use this strategy is to enlarge the profit. Although these companies claimed that they had taken high level social responsibility of business, they have kept using tax avoidance which should be included in the social responsibility. However, it has been largely silent on the issue of the payment of corporate tax. It is serious that such fundamental tax payments present a company s citizenship behavior. However, because there are legal ways to avoid payment of corporate tax, which is a representative of a boundary condition for corporate social responsibility. • 3. Tony Blair s Approach to Power Essay Tony Blair s Approach to Power Since Labour came into power in 1997 Tony Blair has been criticised by some for being the son of Thatcher . Many say that labour is now following the values and policies similar to that of a Tory government and in particular a Tory government lead by Margaret Thatcher. Before the time of Tony Blair and New Labour, the left wing party stood firm on one value and that was socialism. More on Labours old Values and policies The conservatives on the other hand have very different policies or not so different as some may argue. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher lead the conservative government from 1979 1990 and she made some very radical changes that have stuck. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Benefits for the unemployed were amongst those worst affected. The idea behind this economic change was to make unemployment less attractive, thus forcing the unemployed to take lower wage jobs. The Conservatives hoped that this would drastically lower the unemployment rate. And finally, Thatcher reduced and in some cases withdrew subsidies to many industries, compelling the closure of many concerns and the more efficient operation of the rest in the face of international competition. All of these economic changes made by Margaret Thatcher were extremely right wing with very capitalist values. All her policies were heavily criticised by Labour which is why it seems strange that Tony Blair has adopted many of her values and policies. As labour were so against privatisation in the 1980 s most thought that they would try and change things when they were in power. This of course was not the case and in 1997 Tony Blair s labour government showed willingness to keep privatisation as an option and private ownership plans were not disgarded as some thought they might be, they were in fact extended. Blair s government planned to sell 51% of air traffic control and they also introduced private ownership in some of the London Underground s busiest lines. He then introduced the idea of Private Finance Initiative. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These thousands of classic western novels and films have shaped the world s perspective of the large state of Texas. Contrary to popular opinion, Texas lifestyle is not as portrayed, Texans do not travel by horseback to local convenience stores or go on long cattle drives. However, the history of cowboys has been preserved over years and have significantly impacted Texas culture, Texans take great pride in their history as well as their rights as American citizens. Organizations such as the National Rifle Association, also known as the NRA, and their large number of supporters, have pursued campaigns against gun control at the local, state, and federal levels. Due to the efforts of former White House Press Secretary James S. Brady, congress passed a federal gun control bill, known as the Brady Bill named after the secretary after his assassination during an attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981. • 5. Why Lily s Father Prevented Her From Going For Grammar... 6. I believe that Lily s father prevented her from going to grammar school for a variety of reasons. One would be that he saw her as mainly a source of income and looked at the here and now value of her work, rather than her getting a better job in the future. Second, he felt insulted because his kid would get a better job than what he had and he had never had the privilege to go to a nice school because he had been deprived of his childhood. He felt that if he couldn t have it then she couldn t either. To a certain degree, je must ve felt jealousy and anger. His pride was insulted because so many people forgot about him and never even gave him a chance; they just forced him to do things and here his children were, privileged and they didn t even realize how lucky they were. 7. The war changed the talk of the town significantly. War forces people to look death and loss in the eye. When people look death in the eye, they often become their true selves. When they looked around, they stopped seeing the petty lines but instead saw people as they truly were: no better or worse than the other. They saw how similar they all were: they all had something to lose. They all shared the same fear of death, losing their belongings, and losing one another. They were forced to figure out the truth in things rather than the facades everyone puts up. They were united as a country rather than separated by a religion. They stopped their judgments. • 6. Jefferson Airplane Thesis Patrick Burke s thesis is found towards the end of the first section. He stated he will argue that the Airplane s references to black culture and politics were multifaceted and involved both condescending or naïve radical posturing and sincere respect for African American music. (66) He discussed the first part of his thesis in the majority of his article. In one example of this, Burke states it was difficult to tell if Jefferson Airplane were making fun of stereotypes or simply perpetuating them. (74) In another example, Burke stated that Airplane would casually refer to African Americans as a derogatory term in their interviews. His explanation for this was it may have reflected a hip, ironic sense of superiority to racism, or perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (62) Burke argued against this point by stating that Slick was instead influenced by other rock artists of the time. They cast themselves as political revolutionaries by enacting a romanticized vision of African American identity. (63) Burke s final statement on the subject was that Slick s blackface may have seemed to play at revolutionary policies by imitating African American radicals, but instead exemplified the frequent emptiness and arrogance of rock s politics. ... • 7. Gross National Happiness By Herbert Spencer Gross National Happiness, The Introduction of Democracy; Categorizing the Fourth King (Eventful or Event making, Transactional or Transformational) Herbert Spencer introduces the idea of two types of leaders which are the eventful man and the event making man. The event making man is a man whose actions influenced development. He finds/creates the fork in the road whereas an eventful man stumbles upon greatness, anyone can do it. In terms of making big decisions, one is special and the other isn t. The eventful man in history is any man whose actions influenced subsequent developments along a quite different course than would have been followed if these actions had not meet taken. The event making man is an eventful man whose actions are the consequences of outstanding capacities of intelligence, will, and character rather than of accidents of position (Hook 25 26). When the 17 year old crown prince ascended to the throne, Bhutan was still as researcher Thierry Mathou describes it, an isolated country with a conservative and traditionalist polity . He states that although it is definite that the Third King had initiated most significant and substantial reforms between 1952 and 1972 in the political, diplomatic, social and economic spheres. None of the changes occurring during the last thirty years would have been possible without going through this period. So one day Ed spread the word about one of his favorite bands, The World Inferno/Friendship Society are coming to play at one of his favorite venues on earth, Asbury Lanes. After Joe and Alex looked at each other a couple of times, they decided it was time to try and mosh themselves. So they try it and they have succeeded at moshing around the circle: because that s the way they wanted to dance. In conclusion, Alex and Joe overcame their fears of being in the pit. They are now both very comfortable to dance with other crazy punks to their favorite bands in the whole wide world. If they keep following up with Luke and Ed on their moshing skills, they could end up being professional moshers like they are! • 15. Model Simulation And Fire Model For Biological Neurons Introduction The human nervous system is composed of billions of neurons that respond to stimuli, conduct impulses, and communicate with other cells. Dendrites, a branched extension of a nerve cell, receives information from other neurons. The soma, or cell body, is responsible for whether or not the neuron sends out signals consisting of a short electrical pulse called an action potential, or spike. This spike is carried out by axons, delivering it to other neurons, and has a duration of a few milliseconds and an amplitude of 100 mV. A biological neuron model is a mathematical description of the properties of nerve cells that is designed to accurately describe and predict biological processes. One way to do so is by using the integrate and fire model which displays a trajectory of fluctuating potential versus time in the sub threshold regime and outputs spikes that are triggered when the membrane potential reaches its threshold. Once this threshold is reached, the membrane potential is then reset, allowing the process to start again. Model Simulation and Graphs In creating the leaky integrate and fire model, using the information given, such as the parameters and threshold we created an if statement within a for loop (see Appendix A for complete code). Previously the ability of television to do so had been disputed that the media was seen only as a re enforcer and not a creator. Research performed by Albert Bandura concluded there were strong short term effects of exposure to violence in the media that affects children. On June 6th, 1944 one of the biggest invasions in history was underway, Operation Overlord, more commonly known as the battle of Normandy. With the fall of France in 1940, and the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, Germany s power seemed endless. Based off of ancient documents, we know that Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk in Mesopotamia. Boone on the other hand, was closer to our actual time period .Daniel Boone played a significant role in the exploration and settlement of Kentucky and the U.S. western frontier. On Boone s voyage of colonization it took Boone and his companions several years of horrible and deceitful, on both sides, encounters. Unlike Daniel Boone, Gilgamesh s conquest of Humbaba, the king of cedar forest, in a single journey. Both Daniel and Gilgamesh did things that not only stirred emotions in their citizens (Gilgamesh and Uruk, Daniel and the American settlers), but also inspired the people. Boone has similarities to Gilgamesh, but Odysseus is far more different for the story of Daniel Boone. Homer, the author of Odysseus, took several aspects of Greek heroes and human personalities to create Odysseus. He gives Odysseus particular characteristics, like a scar, to characteristics we associate with individuals, like laughing and crying. Homer does to make it seem like Odysseus is a real person, but is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Timothy Findley s Famous Last Words After being recognized as an exceptional writer, Timothy Findley published the novel Famous Last Words in 1981. Findley is known for his novels featuring many themes...including war, displacement, and emotional repression (Quill and Quire 1). Although Findley s works contain these specific themes, are the narrators of these novels reliable? Usually A narrative normally begins with an Orientation, introducing and identifying the participants in the action: the time, the place, and the initial behavior (Labov 2). Using Labov s reasoning, is Mauberley a reliable narrator whose word the reader can accept his words as the truth? Labov also states that For a narrative to be successful, it cannot report only the most reportable event. It must also be credible...the more reportable, the less credible (5). The term reportable refers to an event that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After falling asleep, the Duke of Windsor has a dream in which he was alone (Findley 232). It is evident that Mauberley, the narrator, cannot narrate another character s dreams. Furthermore, the Duke of Windsor mentions that he was alone , which proves why Mauberley could not narrate the dream truthfully. The reliability of Mauberley s narrative as the truth is considered a lie. Mauberley narrates several scenes encounters between Edward and Queen Mary, Allenby and Lindbergh, von Ribbentrop and Schellenberg at which he was not present, and for which he has no plausible, naturalistic source (Scobie 1). Furthermore, Mauberley is a pro Fascist, which is why people cannot trust him as the narrator. According to Scobie, on many different occasions within the narrative there is Mauberley s attraction to Fascism (1). Fascism is a right wing political system characterized by state control and extreme nationalism (Fascism). Although Mauberley is not directly labelled a Fascist, he does however embody many of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Endangered Species Act, Or Esa For Short The Endangered Species Act, or ESA for short, became a law in 1973 and is enforced by the U.S. to protect species from extinction, mainly due to development for economic growth. The ESA is one of the most popular and effective environmental laws ever enacted. It is a commitment by humans to work together to protect and restore those species that are most at risk of extinction. Unfortunately, the natural systems we depend on are at risk, and plants and animals worldwide are disappearing. In the United States alone hundreds of plant and animal species have become extinct since the time of the first settlers. There two federal agencies that are in charge of the act are the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A species is considered for protection under the ESA when a high portion of the species is likely to become endangered in a foreseeable time. Overall there are about 2,200 species that are listed as endangered or threatened under the ESA and of these about 600 are foreign found species. The main goal of the ESA is to prevent jeopardized animals and plants from becoming extinct and removing or decreasing any threat to their survival. It is important to make sure that no species die out so as to not upset the environmental balance. When we protect all species, we are protecting the entire habitat, therefore, we are maintaining the safety of our own environment as humans. One of the rarest members of the bear family is ... Introduction: Proteus mirabilis is a Gram negative, dimorphic bacillus and a facultative anaerobe bacterium. It is a motile member of the family Enterobacteriaceae. This bacteria colonies shows a unique characteristic called swarming behavior. Swarming occurs when the flagellate rods grow into long chain swarmer cells, the swarmers gather together forming rafts that swim together, growing into a complex biofilm. P. mirabilis virulence factors include swarming motility and urease production. Ref: Joan L, John F. microbiology: an evolving science New York 2009, Belas, Schneider and Melch. It is an opportunist pathogen, which means it can cause diseases if it colonizes another place other than the gastrointestinal tract. P. mirabilis is commonly associated with urinary tract infections. The infection begins when the organism moves from urethra to the urinary bladder. Urinary tract infections caused by P. mirabilis are mostly found in patients under long term catherization. Other groups of patients that are at high risks of the diseases include; those patients with structural abnormalities of the urinary tract, patients with recurrent infections and patients whose infections were acquired in the hospital or long term care facilities. Proteus mirabilis infections accounts for 1% 2% of urinary tract infections in healthy women, 5% of nosocomial urinary infections and catheterization has a high prevalence of 20% 45%. The organism causes bladder infection and kidney infection. P. mirabilis produces large amounts of urease which splits urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. This process increases the alkalinity of the urine and also it precipitates magnesium and calcium in the form of struvite and apatite crystals respectively. The results is the formation of renal stones. Ref: Gus, Gonzales MD medical oncologist: proteus infections Medscape, Murray, Rosenthal, And Pfaller. Medical microbiology 7th edition 2013. ... • 35. A Serious Problem Of Testicular Cancer A serious problem that exists among the Maori population in some areas of N.Z. is testicular (teste) cancer. It affects young men from all backgrounds and there is little research on what risk factors there are. The encyclopaedia Britannica online defines teste cancer as a disease characterized by uncontrolled growth of cells within the testis, the reproductive organ that produces sperm. Testicular cancer represents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most common malignancy for men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most serious health problem among Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be discussed. First of all, testicular cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant damage on patient and family. Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis of testicular cancer is a cause for concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference between Maori and Pakeha psychology and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori patients. Finally, there is general reluctance for Maori to seek mental health which leads to difference between diagnosis and treatment. Firstly, the mental and physical anguish that surrounds testicular cancer is so significant because it is the most common cancer affecting men between the ages of 15 and 39, but it is not limited to this age range. However, young men typically do not get a lot of cancer, so overall testicular cancer is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Media Portrayals Of Media Affecting Women Media can be seen as a channel of communication in whereupon millions of people frequently use in their daily lives. So, with all of this technology around, how is the media portrayal of beauty affecting women? According to Cheryl J. Haas, Laura A. Pawlow. Jon Pettibone, and Dan J. Segrist, Research has shown media exposure to unattainable physical perfection is detrimental to people, especially women and that inimical effects are currently more the rule than the exception (1). When a person feels as if they do not compeer with the standard of beauty media has set, that individual develops negative emotions towards themselves which can lead to ailing eating habits including binge eating, purging, or starving. Several studies further reveal a show in a decrease of self esteem, including other psychological distress, following exposure to idealized media portrayal. Moreover, the media portrayal of beauty has a detrimental effect on the way young women perceive themselves. Media bombards our everyday life with unrealistic images and drills in our minds what the ideal girl looks like; this leads to individuals developing unhealthy habits and negative self perception based on their appearance. However, understanding media has helped in the long run. When females view images of the idealized thin woman, they often alter their eating habits in attempt to match the unrealistic photo they have witnessed. Every girl strives to be and feel beautiful. • 38. Accounting Is The Most Boring Accounting is commonly depicted as the most boring, yet reliable profession possibly offered in the business school. But what if accountants managed to scam millions? How about billions? Accounting is a seemingly innocuous career, but corporations can manipulate their current financial state and become more appealing to investors with some clever help from their accountants. Accountants could embellish financial statements or secure higher balances for wage expenditures. A typical corporate mistake is improperly segregating duties of employees. If someone has more than one task, such as recording inflow of cash and controlling where it goes, then a chance of embezzlement can occur. Embezzlement is when an employee, usually under good faith, takes a small sum of money to pay personal finances under the guise of paying it back, but does it so often that they eventually get caught by an increased amount of missing cash. The SEC, Securities and Exchange Commission, carefully monitors these conniving, dishonest businesses. To enhance the duties of this agency, President Bush in 2002 signed the Sarbanes Oxley Act, which dictated that publicly traded companies must maintain adequate internal control systems. Despite the strong reinforcements of regulating agencies such as SEC commissioners and auditors, corporations still manage to circumvent the proper accounting techniques that prevent fraudulent behaviors. Because of the consequences observed from the Enron and WorldCom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
