Unit 1 Assignment 2 Biometrics
This report started with a motivational empirical study of the usability, security, and privacy of
enhanced fingerprint authentication as compared to password based authentication. This study
revealed that the password based authentication lacks usability and security, while the privacy
enhanced fingerprint authenticationis more usable than password based authentication. However
fingerprint data on the cloud poses a greater likelihood for attacks. A risk assessment was
conducted to evaluate the adequacy of controls available to mitigate the risks. Based on a
threshold set for the residual risk, a roadmap was established to close the gap on the lack of controls.
The solutions presented in the report have an edge over different models. The reason is that, once
an attacker obtains access to a unique finger impression template, he can claim to be a validated
client. Yet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anonymous authentication at some point was good but it declined in the recent years. The last
known published research on anonymous authentication for biometrics is dated back in 2008.
Anonymous authentication can be considered as a good approach on the cloud. With a new mind
set and tools available, new innovative framework can be created.
Two of the upcoming works are as follows:
9.2Biometric data hiding in IPv6
The Internet Protocol (IP) has some vulnerability that can be exploited to transfer information along
the network by being anonymous. Some attempts have been made using IPv4 but now since IPv6
is the new mode of network the challenge is to design it to fit the new trend.
9.3QR Code biometrics
QR Code has been introduced quite a long time ago. Its lightweight properties have propelled it to
become a worldwide phenomenon among online stores. Its complicated matrix is an innovative
method to hide data among the grey area. This grey area can be used to transfer biometrics across

A Study On Alcoholics Anonymous Essay
Alcoholics Anonymous has held an almost sacred spot in our society as the way for addicts to
get sober through spiritual means, with many people having anecdotal stories and experiences
corroborating this belief. To full examine the ethicality of AA, an in depth look at AA is
required. A study of its history, a description of the program, the success rates and commonly
held harmful beliefs of AA, alternatives to AA, and finally an analysis using Rawl s Theory of
Justice are all required in order to fully judge whether the program is ethical or not. Considering
all these factors, AA s domination of the treatment of addicts and alcoholics is immoral and our
approach to addiction itself needs a complete overhaul, with full consideration of science and not
spirituality alone. In order to understand AA fully, one needs to first examine its history. Before
AA, alcoholics and addicts were treated very harshly. Alcoholics were viewed as morally
deficient and lacked the willpower to just stop drinking. When asked by an alcoholic whether
there would be any hope of his recovery, the psychiatrist Carl Jung responded No, there is none
except that some people with your problem have recovered if they have had a transforming
experience of the spirit (Bob P. 1993). Jung was saying that alcoholics are hopeless unless they
have a spiritual experience, which he went on to say happened very, very rarely. Thus, alcoholics
and addicts were thrown into jails and sanitariums, and were left

Summary Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique
The 1960s were a time of change for many Americans, whether it be dealing with the women s
liberation movement, civil rights, or the anti war movement. During this period, many issues that
had laid beneath the surface were brought out, it was a time for change. The second wave of
feminism was established in the sixties, beginning when many women addressed the topics that
angered them in the world, specifically pertaining to their own rights. The sixties brought up many
feelings, feelings that had been buried or held back for some time, Betty Friedanhas been one of
those many people to address her feelings and put it out in the world. Friedan wrote a book named
The Feminine Mystique, which has become an international bestseller and has sold over one
million copies since its release in 1963(citation, from opening of book). Her book focused on the
societal expectations that kept women in the home for many years. Friedan captured the anger and
frustration many women felt, and offered ways for women to recapture their lives back. Betty
Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique, launched a conversation about women s roles in society,
which started the second wave of feminismwhere society began to see women as self reliant, and
capable to do the tasks men had been doing as long as time.
Friedan s article The Problem that Has No Name grabbed the attention of any women who would
listen, she called attention to the standards that were supposed to make women feel content and

Labor Unions and Relevance
Labor Unions and Relevance In the United States, labor unions are seeing an increased amount of
controversy surrounding their helpfulness to the U.S. economy. Recently, comparisons between
the successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the
forefront. Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive
more benefits at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit
for Americans who are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work
environment that is successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop.
In 1953, approximately half of the workers in the United States were... Show more content on

The following meeting essentially turned into a gripe festival in which the employee complained
about the management, fellow employees, the workload, and the lack of recognition for a job well
done. Fortunately, this issue went no further. Unfortunately for this organization, most filed
complaints are more closely related to people being upset about being rightly disciplined than the
company truly committing acts contrary to the negotiated contract. The actual relevance that
unions have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but
politically as well. In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons
for the shrinking affect unions have in politics. They say that after George W. Bush became
president, his administration worked to the disband National Partnership Council, which was set in
place to promote positive relationships with federal unions. The result of the actions from the Bush
administration is a labor movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on
the political front (Hurd and Pinnock, 2004). In order for corporations to remain competitive in the
business market, they will need to attract the talent. The talent will go to the companies that give

Freeze And Thaw In Concrete
The Effects of Freeze and Thaw in Concrete
Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material
with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive
strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is
susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time.
One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries.
As the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete
scaling, delamination, and cracking.
The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates
where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day.
Sometimes deicing chemicals are applied to the surface to temporary lower the melting point of ice

This will help prevent water absorption as well as expansion.
Another popular solution is replacing the soil with more porous alternatives, such as sand and
gravel. To divert water away from the foundation, you can also dig a subterranean reservoir on the
property.
How the Freeze and Thaw Cycle Damages Foundations
Since the freeze and thaw cycle damages concrete surfaces, it can also cause shifts and cracks
beneath the home s foundation. Soil within a high water table are particularly problematic since
they have poor drainage around the property.
Although you can t prevent the freeze and thaw cycle, you can protect your foundation. At MFS
Basement and Foundation Repair, we implement water management systems, such as heavy duty
sump pumps, interior/exterior drainage systems, French drains, and a surface drainage. We also

A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness
A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive success rate,
of female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many factors influence the
number of eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One key factor in insect reproduction is
the ambient environmental temperature. Insects are ectothermic and therefore rely on their
environment to provide the heat needed to carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat
dependence for insects has been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other
contributing factors such as increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown
that the European speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the temperature
range of 8В°C and 14 В°C even when controlling for larger female body sizes. The findings of the
study suggest that temperature can limit insectreproductionin two specific ways. First, the
development of the egg may be inhibited by temperature ranges that are outside the preferred
range of the insect. Second, the female s range of time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the
temperature of the immediate environment is not conducive to the survival of her offspring
(Berger et al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor when considering the success rate of
many insect species.
Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of certain insects
and the implications that

Copper Carbonate Lab Report
The reaction characteristics of basic copper carbonate
гЂ–mCuCOгЂ—_3в‹…nгЂ–Cu(OH)гЂ—_2 were observed by changing the reaction mole ratio.
The reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate to copper chloride (II) was controlled from 1.08 to
1.68. Fig. 1 shows the XRD patterns of copper carbonate powder. At a reaction ratio of 1.08,
paratacamite (Cu_2 Cl(OH)_3 ), beside alkali coppercarbonate, was formed because of incomplete
reaction at a copper content of 53.9 wt%. Lack of sodium carbonate may cause incomplete
reaction with copper chloride (II) because of low pH (6.0) of the solution [12]. The copper content
according to the reaction moleratio were 57.7, 50.5, 58.8, 59.3, and 59.8 wt% at the reaction mole
ratios of 1.20, 1.32, 1.44, 1.56, and 1.68, respectively.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The malachite basic copper carbonate formed as CuCO3 в‹… Cu(OH)2 shows bright green,
whereas that of azurite formed as 2CuCO3 в‹… Cu(OH)2 shows strong blue. In this study, most of
the manufactured copper carbonate was converted to malachite basic copper carbonate of bright
green at the reaction mole ratio of 1.20. In the case of low reaction ratio of sodium carbonate, m,
the stoichiometric coefficients of CuCO3, is higher than n, the stoichiometric coefficient of
Cu(OH)2, so that the amount of CuCO3 is generated is more than that of Cu(OH)2. With
increasing reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate, m is lower than n so that the generation rate of
CuCO_3 is lower than that of CuгЂ–(OH)гЂ—_2. Therefore, copper content increased with
increasing sodium carbonate. With assumption of same value of m and n, theoretical copper
content becomes 57.5

Andrew Jackson And The Indian Removal Act
During Andrew Jackson s presidency, which lasted from 1829 until 1837, he believed in the
removal of the American Indians to help avoid annihilation. During these years, the Indian
Removal Act was passed, and was the first major law within the time frame. This act, passed in
1830, stated that all the Indian tribes residing east of the Mississippi River needed to pack up and
move to the west of the river, although the relocation was only voluntary. Jackson did this in the
hopes that they would give in to the pressure, considering that he sided with the land hungry
citizens eager to take their place. This was because the Americans wanted to settle in the lands
occupied by the Indians, therefore requiring them to evacuate over one hundred thousand of them.
Overall, the passing of this policy affected Jackson s political and social philosophy.
To begin, Andrew Jacksonhad been planning for the removal of the Indians even before he took
office. As stated in Document 3, It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent
policy of the Government, steadily pursued for nearly thirty years, in relation to the removal of the
Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching...a happy consummation. During this speech,
more specifically Jackson s Second Annual Message to Congress delivered in 1830, he went on to
inform them of the process and current progress of the Indian removal plan and all the benefits that
went alongside it. He then stated that it put an end to

Non Benefits Of Non Professional Employment Contract Essay
Non compete Employment Contract Student Name Course Tutor Date Non compete
Employment Contract A non compete agreement is a type of contract where one party (in most
cases an employee) agrees not to offer his or her services to any other employer or business that
is in competition to the other party (the employer). For many years now, state laws have continued
to recognize the validity and enforceability of agreements not to compete that are ancillary to
employment. However, not all states recognize non compete agreements. It is required that such
agreements be reasonably necessary for them to be enforceable (Miehe, 2002). These covenants
should ensure an additional safeguard to all legitimate business and their interests. The limitation
on duration and geography should be reasonable. Such agreements, when properly drafted and
executed, provide the employer with an effective way to protect customer goodwill, proprietary
business information, and the time and resources it has invested in the training of employees.
Richard who is an actor had entered into a non compete agreement with his employer who goes
by the name Mark, the producer. Both of them are based in the state of Ohio where the agreement
was signed. According to the agreement terms, Mark had engaged Richard to perform the role of a

Creon Tragic Hero Analysis
Aristotle once spoke that A man doesn t become a hero until he can see the root of his own
downfall. A tragic hero can be defined in many different traits and definitions but what makes a
perfect tragic hero? It also can have many different meanings and actions towards it. A perfect
tragic hero must have a flaw of judgement leading to a tragic flaw also know as a Hamartia. Also
a person who is a royal birth and holds a high place in society. Lastly a tragic hero must discover
or recognize that the reversal was brought about by their own actions. Creon in Antigone is a
perfect example of meeting Aristotle s criteria as a tragic hero.
A hero s tragic flaw is usually due to the character s lack of knowledge, lack of judgment, and
overwhelming pride. The flaw leads to destructive consequences but that does not define the hero
as a bad character. More so Aristotle believes that the tragic hero brings their downfall to evoke
the feelings of pity and fear among the audience. Aristotle says that pity is aroused by unmerited
misfortune, fear by the misfortune of a man like ourselves. This is why majority a of tragic hero s

achievement levels in their later years. According to a study by Roeser et al (2008), identity
representations and the necessary balance between these identities are what determine the
success of girls by helping them have a healthy and successful school life or well being. These
identities either build social approval and self esteem from adults or athletic competence and
acceptance from peers. The main challenge, however, is the balance between adult and peer

Fast Five Movie Analysis
Fast Five Film Review A 2011 American Action Film directed by Justin Lin. The movie was
written by Chris Morgan. The movie is the 5th film for The Fast and Furious Series. It was first
released in Australia on April 20, 2011 and then later released in the United States on April 29,
2011. Cinematography for the movie was put together by Stephen F. Winden. The film was
distributed by Universal Pictures. Fast Five was a financial success that broke box office
records for the opening weekend in April of 2011. The movie was so popular that is overpassed
the Fast And Furious action movie series. In the flourishing stages of the film, Universal studios
veered away from street racing and wanted to pull off an action packed heist involving fast cars.
They took this route to attract an even larger crowd than the Fast and Furious series already did.
Fast Five is considered the transitional film for the series where it includes only one racing
scene and more action packed scenes such as gunfights, melee, and a $100 million bank heist.
The production company had a tactic that included advertising through social media and
NASCAR itself. Fast Five made over $626.1 million in sales in the United States Box Office. It
made 66 on the list for the all time worldwide list for highest grossing movie sales. The movie is
rated PG 13 and its total running time is two hours and 10 minutes. The main characters set in
the movie are Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Matt

The Causes Of Childhood Obesity
Causes of Childhood Obesity Imagine yourself walking into a kindergarten class, and all you
see are obese children not walking, but moving on wheels because they simply cannot walk
anymore due to their excess body weight. Their legs are so weak since they have to handle so
much more weight than what they are designed to do. This vision may no longer be fictional if
the world keeps ignoring the issue of childhood obesity. Nowadays, not only adults, but the
number of children who are obese are incredibly high. The topic has to be taken more seriously
because it is not only bad for their health obviously but it is also abusive. Youngsters with obesity
will tend to stay obese when they grow up and we can all agree that it is not so pleasant to be in
such circumstances. These children are our worthiest fortune and the world s future generation.
When the time comes, their quality of life and level of happiness will accurately reflect how we

The Themes Of Death And Death
Cambridge Hinds
Big Question Paper
The Meaning of Death
The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and
specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time
period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of
death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431
BCE, and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular
themes in ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels,
movies, TV shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the
movie The Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez.
Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of
an organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be
for better or worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a
bittersweet occasion as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the
Decameron, and The Book of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance
from the living. However, these texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively,
it means tragic revenge, a feared end, and reconciliation as well as separation.
In the tragedy Medea, death is central to

The Importance Of Pulse Pressure
1. Define pulse pressure? How did it change with light and heavy exercise to PP? What is the
expected PP response to exercise? 2 marks
пѓ Pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure reading. It represents
the force that the heart generates each time it contracts. During exercise periods, the pulse pressure
will increase because the stroke volume, or the amount of ventricular blood pumped with a given
contraction increases to fuel muscular contractions. This increase in stroke volume will cause an
increase in systolic pressure, while the diastolic pressure will remain relatively constant,
increasing the value of pulse pressure. Based on needs for muscular activity, the stroke volume
will adjust accordingly, so lighter exercise will have a smaller increase in ventricular contraction
and heavier exercise will have a greater increase in ventricular contraction. This will result in a
smaller increase in systolic pressure for light activity and greater increase in systolic pressure for
heavy activity. It is expected this to happen because with an increasing demand for oxygenated
blood from muscles engaging in sarcomeric contraction, the heart will contract with greater force
(systolic pressure) in order to maximize stroke volume, ensuring that sufficient oxygen/nutrients is
given to working muscles.
2. Describe the mean arterial blood pressure response to light and

Movie Review Stigmata
Movie Review of Stigmata
I m not a big movie watcher, in fact when I watch a movie, I rarely finish it. However, there are
just a few that I ve got to see. These usually include comedy, but more often mystery. About two
years ago I saw a preview for the movie Stigmata. Before the previews I had never heard of stigmata
, and even after this didn t know what it was. My cousin explained what stigmata were to me, and
then I wanted to see the movie. Stigmata are defined as the plural of stigma; marks resembling the
wounds of the crucified body of Christ, said to be supernaturally impressed on the bodies of cetain
persons, especially nuns, tertiaries, and monastics (Ask.com), this making a stigmatic one who
receives these stigmata. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

were many sites that had the exact same information under different titles. There were even a few

Right Lens
It s always good to have options. But what happens when there are too many? This is the
situation in the eyewear industry today. There s an overwhelming number of options in frame
choices, tints, coatings, and lens materials. Of these option categories, choosing the right lens
material is possibly the most confusing. As you look through the pros and cons of the
candidates, there s no overwhelming winner that s superior in all the qualities (including cost)
that go into a good lens. How do you make an informed choice? By knowing exactly how you
will use your prescription glasses and then picking the lens material with the properties that make
the best match. Are the glasses intended for mostly indoor or outdoor use? Is the user an adult or
a child? How meticulous is the user about taking good care of her or his prescription glasses? By

In fact, breaking a thin polycarbonate lens would require bending it back and forth several
times. This is the reason for its superior impact strength (about 10 times higher than CR 39) and
why it s used for safety and sports glasses. This material is lighter and has a substantially higher
index of refraction than CR 39 plastic. This means the lenses are thinner and lighter. Another
important property is that polycarbonate naturally blocks 100% UV light. On the other hand, its
optical quality is inferior to CR 39. Polycarbonate makes sense as an outdoor eyewear material.
It s a good pick for sunglasses, which should have UV protection. On the other hand, CR 39
plastic would require a special UV protection coating for outdoor use. This increases its cost. The
optical quality of polycarbonate is good enough for driving, walking, and other outdoor activities.
Polycarbonate s lighter weight and toughness are perfect for athletic activities. However, this
material is relatively soft and will require a scratch protection

Solution Of Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution makes up the majority of pollution problems all over the world, on land and
off land. There are few solutions to fixing this pollution problem overall because of plastic
properties. The pollution in the ocean poses a great problem to marine ecosystems, and to the
health of the human population due to its durability. Over the years the consumption of plastic
products has risen a marginal amount making the issue of pollution even larger ( When the
Mermaids Cry: The Great Plastic Tide ). The pollution causes damage to the economy,
environment, marine life, human health, along with the global impact. If the plastic pollution
problem does not decrease, or completely disappear, then there will be great consequences in
the oceans and on land. Plastic is a non biodegradable material that is made to last forever, yet
only about 50% of plastic products are used once then thrown away. (Plastic Oceans Foundation).
The world uses 300 million tons of plastic every year for various uses, Plastic is cheap and
incredibly versatile with properties that make it ideal for many applications (Plastic Oceans
Foundation). Every few seconds humans are producing about 20,000 plastic bottles and a million
plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute and the number will jump another 20%
by 2021, creating an environmental crisis some campaigners predict will be as serious as climate
change. (Laville, Sandra, and Matthew Taylor). With the way the world is going with

American Pie, by Don McLean Essay
Analysis of the song American Pie , by Don McLean
The song American Pie , by Don McLean, was a major rock and roll hit in 1971. McLean
portrays famous rock and roll singer and songwriter Buddy Holly, who died in a plane crash in
1961 by using many rhetorical strategies. The different possible interpretations of this song made it
one of the most controversial songs from the 1970 s.
Don McLean was a famous singer/songwriter who was popular in the 1970 s. His music is mostly
classified into rock and roll. The audience of this song can be anyone. The majority of the people

The address to the term, Miss American Pie references a plane that went down killing singer
Buddy Holly. The line, The quartet practiced in the park, refers to the famous pop group Beatles
who became famous shortly after the death of Holly. All of the other symbolism in this song
revolves events that happened around that time of Holly s death. McLean uses informal irony in
the tone of the song to convey this deep symbolism. Because of the depth, there is a big
controversy on what some of the words represent. Some people even think Miss American Pie
represents the civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.. One example of McLean s use of irony is
in the story about Holly. The irony comes from how he describes when Holly was younger, he
borrowed a coat from James Dean, and then many years later he was a famous singer. McLean uses
a subjective point of view as he uses his interpretations, comments, and judgments to appeal to
pathos in this song.
McLean uses only two of the rhetorical appeals. Ethos is used when he describes the other
singers most people know about. And while Lenin read a book on Marx, emphasizes ethos
because Lenin was a famous singer who people respect. Pathos was used throughout the whole
piece especially when he said the lovers cried and the poets screamed. This quote describes the
people s sadness towards the death of Holly, which appeals to the listener in many emotional ways.

The Great Ireland Potato Famine Effects Essay
The Great Ireland Potato Famine Effects
The Great Ireland Potato Famine was a horrible event that had many lasting effects. Some of these
effects were starvation, disease, poverty, emigration, and lost traits. These effects plagued mostly
western Ireland, but had an overall effect on all of Ireland. Many of the traditional ways of
economics and society changed drastically because of the famine. Many people also blamed the
British for letting the famine get so bad. These effects will be discussed throughout the paper.

For this reason, many people died from the diseases. The diseases plagued the crowed towns
where the famine was affecting the most, killing off thousands and thousands of people. A doctor
in Skibbereen was quoted to saying that the people are dying not in twos or threes but by the
dozens; the ordinary forms of decent burial dispensed with (Kinealy 41).
The many deaths of the Irish and how they were buried remind me of the Holocaust and how
those people were buried. The dead Irish people were buried in famine pits (Daly 6) where the
dead would be buried in mass graves (Daly 6). Many of these graves remain unmarked to this
day. In some areas, the sea washes ashore some of the bones of those who died in the famine. The
Irish people use this as a reminder of the hard times in the past.
Many of the people were left with no jobs during the famine. Their main job was farming potatoes
and their main source of income was growing potatoes. Therefore, when the blight came, they had
nothing else to turn to and were left with very little money. The fact that the landlords owned
practically everything in Ireland made it difficult for the Irish people to invest in other ways to
generate income. This left the Irish people no choice but to immigrate out to other countries in hope
for jobs.

Shakespeare s employment of dramatic struggle and disillusionment through his character Hamlet,
contributes to the continued engagement of modern audiences. The employment of the soliloquy
demonstrates Shakespeare s approach to the dramatic treatment of these emotions. The soliloquy

The struggle is suggested through the existential questions that Hamlet asks, suggesting a battle
with his conscience. The symbol of the world is a motif throughout the play, being described as
flat , weary , distracted , out of frame , out of joint , out of time , rotten and rank . Hamlet displays
his struggle and disillusionment for the world by using metonymy and juxtaposition throughout his
soliloquy. Sea of troubles and thousand natural shocks are alluded to in his speech in order to
express his disillusionment, communicating a counterpointing between the divine or earthly and
the profane. This idea is continues in O that this too too sullied ... (Act 1 Scene 2), His speech is
saturated with suggestions of rot and corruption, as seen in the basic usage of words like rank (138)
and gross (138), and in the metaphor associating the world with an unweeded garden (137).
Shakespeare uses juxtaposition and contrast to enhance these feelings of disgust, contempt and
inadequacy.
Hamlet displays disillusionment about women throughout the course of the play. This struggle to
come to terms with his mother s second marriage and disillusionment from the pure and angelic

Comparison Between Fencing Jacket And Pant
There are only a few items that make up the uniform worn by fencers. One of these parts is based

main parts of the fencing uniform and why they are important. Fencing Jacket and Pants The
largest item of the fencer s uniform is the long sleeved white jacket. The jacket is long sleeved
mostly for protection, but also to reference the historical aspects of the sport. While in today s

the entire arm, padded up to just below the shoulder. Mask The fencing mask must be worn at all
levels of competition to protect the face and head of the fencer. It has a padded bib to protect the
throat and a wire mesh facemask to protect the face of the fencer. The mesh is made of a rigid
material that can withstand the force from an opponent s saber. As with all the rest of the pieces

However, resolving the orders manually was a cumbersome task. It was a challenge for us to
work with the standard reports to resolve these issues with the work force we have available to
us in the direct side of the business, said Trilling. We were able to create a workflow application
using the data contained within CWData, and this allowed us to respond to these issues in an
efficient and cost effective manner. Leveraging CWData s unique functionality to extract only
new and changed data to the CWData database, Trilling created a Lotus Notes application that
accesses the CWData database to find all the orders that have gone on hold. Once the orders are
accessed, the application sends an e mail to the customer and, using the workflow capability
within Notes, adds it to a CSR s work queue. The application then accesses the CWData database
to see if the order has gone off hold,
CommercialWare s CWData solution allows us to maximize our offerings and provides us with a
more accurate understanding of overall sales activity across the direct side of the business, Todd
Trilling, Director of Catalog Systems
and then resolves the issue. In this way, the majority of held orders can be resolved without any
manual effort. Abercrombie went live with CWData one month after their August 2001 CWDirect
launch. Abercrombie kids was launched first with adults following six months later.

All Time Bulls Research Paper
For the past week or two, we ve been hearing about this debate about the All Time Lakers against
the All Time Bulls. Every basketball fan on social media has shared their thoughts on this matchup
of All Time teams. It s even gotten to the point where Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O Neal went at
it with each other via Instagram. All Time Bulls Team that ll consist of Michael Jordan
and Scottie
Pippen taking on a Lakers team that s stacked with nothing but Hall of Famers, is an intriguing
discussion but is it really a huge debate? If the two teams were to meet in let s say a seven game
series, would it even be close? Some think Chicago would win while others believe that the Lakers
would dominate and that I wouldn t be close. I m on the half... Show more content on

I mean you ll have Magic, who is a pass first point guard, dishing out to the likes of Kobe, Shaq,
West, and Kareem on top of keeping defenders on their heels. Bulls would have to really figure
out how to slow that down and I don t think Rose is the guy to really do that. I do believe the
Bulls have an advantage at the Small Forward and Shooting Guard position. Yes Laker fans I
would have to give the edge to Pippen over Jerry West seeing Scottie was a lot more athletic and
was pretty good defensive player, while Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are about equal. They
re very identical when you look at them on film but I give the slightest of slight edge to Jordan
on this one. The huge disadvantage comes in the post where you have Kareem and Shaq for the
Lakers and Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman for the Bulls. Now offensively realistically the
Lakers would have an issue because A: Both Kareem and Shaq are centers and B: Both will clog
up likely clog up the post, but even with that Kareem and Shaq too much for Grant and Rodman.
Rodman would do whatever to grab rebounds and was a pretty good defensive player while
Grant was a solid starter on some pretty good teams but when you re talking Kareem and Shaq,
that s a tall task for the two offensively and defensively. The bench is also a huge advantage for
the Lakers where it s

The Prevalence Of Autonomic Dysfunction And Fac Tors...
DISCUSSION
This study was performed to assess the prevalence of autonomic dysfunction, and fac tors affecting
CAN. The study included 56 eligible participants with T2DM. Our study reveals that a significant
proportion of patients with T2DM have CAN. Study found that overall 85% of persons with
T2DM have CAN (combined early and definite CAN). Mean fasting blood glucose and BMI were
significantly associated with CAN in type 2 DM. Parasympathetic involvement was more than
sympathetic involvement. Out of all tests performed, heart rate response to standing (EI ratio) and
deep breathing (30:15 ratio) were the most common test affected in our study population.
S. Aggarwal et al [41] in their study on 50 patients with non cardiac Diabetes Mellitus had
demonstrated 70% of patients were tested positive for autonomic dysfunction, however our
study reports 85% patient to have autonomic dysfunction. In our study , 8(14%)had no CAN, 24
(42%) had early CAN, and 24 (42%) had definite CAN. A study by Angadi sumaswi et al [42], 32%
(16) patients had no CAN. Early CAN was seen in 14% (7), severe CAN in 14% (7), definite CAN
in 8% (4) patients. Atypical CAN with other combination of abnormalities was seen in 32% (16)
patients. Various studies shows different prevalence of CAN ranging from 58% to 70 % [43 45].
The most common abnormality observed was heart rate response to standing(68%), followed by
deep breathing( 64%). Heart rate response to valsalva was the least affected (30%)

The Debate On Human Genetic Engineering
Long Stance Paper on Human Genetic Engineering The debate on whether human genetic
engineering should be researched and used as the main alternative solution to disease have been
going on since the creation of the human genetic engineering phenomenon. The ethical question
is clear: should money be invested in human genetic engineering and should we research it at all,
even if it is formally criticized by all monotheistic religions? The ethical principles in conflict are
beneficence (people with fatal diseases could be cured) and non maleficence (undermines the
will of God, according to religious groups and in addition, there is no guarantee of successful
results). My stance on this debated topic is that human genetic engineering should not be funded
or researched, as there is no 100% guarantee that it will be successful, and in addition, I am a
very religious person, and in my opinion, the body that a person has is a gift of God, and it
should not be changed in any ways. However, there are still thousands of people with fatal
diseases who have no hope for surviving, and human genetic engineering could serve as the only
hope for them. There are many sides that can be affected either positively or negatively if human
genetic engineering is funded and researched, however, the major stakeholders are primarily the
government of US and private companies who fund all the experiments, people with fatal diseases
who hope for any type of cure., and the science in general, because if

Jainism Is An Environmentally Responsible Way Of Life
Mahavira said, All of life is just like me. I want to live. So do all souls, all living beings. The
instinct of self preservation is universal. Every animate being clings to life and fears death. Each
of us wants to be free from pain. So let me carry out all of my activities with great care not to be
harmful to any living being (as cited in Rosenfield Segall). Jainismis an ecologically responsible
way of life, which is non violent in thoughts, actions, and deeds (Pecorino, 2001). The heart of
Jainism is to live and practice ahimsa. This is the action by which all actions are judged (ahimsa|
Britannica.com, 2015). The Golden Rule, if you will. The Jain s believe that life is eternal. That
all living souls have the potential of attaining enlightenment and immortality (Raghuram, 2004). If
you interrupt the spiritual progress or jiva of an insect, animal, plant or person, you will incur
karma (ahimsa | Britannica.com, 2015). Your karma will affect your samsara, and will determine
your next incarnation. The purpose in one s life is to attain liberation from the samsara cycle. Why
are we drawn to the many different facets of violencethat we experience in our lives? Is violence a
learned behavior or has it become a part of our evolutionary progression. As hunters and gatherers,
we used violence for survival. Now, it seems that humans react with violence to resolve multiple
types of conflict. Is it just primal instinct? Does our subconscious fight or flight control the way

  • 2. Unit 1 Assignment 2 Biometrics This report started with a motivational empirical study of the usability, security, and privacy of enhanced fingerprint authentication as compared to password based authentication. This study revealed that the password based authentication lacks usability and security, while the privacy enhanced fingerprint authenticationis more usable than password based authentication. However fingerprint data on the cloud poses a greater likelihood for attacks. A risk assessment was conducted to evaluate the adequacy of controls available to mitigate the risks. Based on a threshold set for the residual risk, a roadmap was established to close the gap on the lack of controls. The solutions presented in the report have an edge over different models. The reason is that, once an attacker obtains access to a unique finger impression template, he can claim to be a validated client. Yet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two of the upcoming works are as follows: 9.2Biometric data hiding in IPv6 The Internet Protocol (IP) has some vulnerability that can be exploited to transfer information along the network by being anonymous. Some attempts have been made using IPv4 but now since IPv6 is the new mode of network the challenge is to design it to fit the new trend. 9.3QR Code biometrics QR Code has been introduced quite a long time ago. • 3. A Study On Alcoholics Anonymous Essay Alcoholics Anonymous has held an almost sacred spot in our society as the way for addicts to get sober through spiritual means, with many people having anecdotal stories and experiences corroborating this belief. To full examine the ethicality of AA, an in depth look at AA is required. A study of its history, a description of the program, the success rates and commonly held harmful beliefs of AA, alternatives to AA, and finally an analysis using Rawl s Theory of Justice are all required in order to fully judge whether the program is ethical or not. Considering all these factors, AA s domination of the treatment of addicts and alcoholics is immoral and our approach to addiction itself needs a complete overhaul, with full consideration of science and not spirituality alone. In order to understand AA fully, one needs to first examine its history. Before AA, alcoholics and addicts were treated very harshly. Alcoholics were viewed as morally deficient and lacked the willpower to just stop drinking. When asked by an alcoholic whether there would be any hope of his recovery, the psychiatrist Carl Jung responded No, there is none except that some people with your problem have recovered if they have had a transforming experience of the spirit (Bob P. 1993). Jung was saying that alcoholics are hopeless unless they have a spiritual experience, which he went on to say happened very, very rarely. Thus, alcoholics and addicts were thrown into jails and sanitariums, and were left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique The 1960s were a time of change for many Americans, whether it be dealing with the women s liberation movement, civil rights, or the anti war movement. During this period, many issues that had laid beneath the surface were brought out, it was a time for change. The second wave of feminism was established in the sixties, beginning when many women addressed the topics that angered them in the world, specifically pertaining to their own rights. The sixties brought up many feelings, feelings that had been buried or held back for some time, Betty Friedanhas been one of those many people to address her feelings and put it out in the world. Friedan wrote a book named The Feminine Mystique, which has become an international bestseller and has sold over one million copies since its release in 1963(citation, from opening of book). Her book focused on the societal expectations that kept women in the home for many years. Friedan captured the anger and frustration many women felt, and offered ways for women to recapture their lives back. Betty Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique, launched a conversation about women s roles in society, which started the second wave of feminismwhere society began to see women as self reliant, and capable to do the tasks men had been doing as long as time. Friedan s article The Problem that Has No Name grabbed the attention of any women who would listen, she called attention to the standards that were supposed to make women feel content and ... • 5. Labor Unions and Relevance Labor Unions and Relevance In the United States, labor unions are seeing an increased amount of controversy surrounding their helpfulness to the U.S. economy. Recently, comparisons between the successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the forefront. Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive more benefits at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit for Americans who are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work environment that is successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop. In 1953, approximately half of the workers in the United States were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following meeting essentially turned into a gripe festival in which the employee complained about the management, fellow employees, the workload, and the lack of recognition for a job well done. Fortunately, this issue went no further. Unfortunately for this organization, most filed complaints are more closely related to people being upset about being rightly disciplined than the company truly committing acts contrary to the negotiated contract. The actual relevance that unions have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but politically as well. In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons for the shrinking affect unions have in politics. They say that after George W. Bush became president, his administration worked to the disband National Partnership Council, which was set in place to promote positive relationships with federal unions. The result of the actions from the Bush administration is a labor movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on the political front (Hurd and Pinnock, 2004). • 6. Freeze And Thaw In Concrete The Effects of Freeze and Thaw in Concrete Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time. One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries. As the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete scaling, delamination, and cracking. The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day. Sometimes deicing chemicals are applied to the surface to temporary lower the melting point of ice by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will help prevent water absorption as well as expansion. Another popular solution is replacing the soil with more porous alternatives, such as sand and gravel. • 7. A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive success rate, of female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many factors influence the number of eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One key factor in insect reproduction is the ambient environmental temperature. Insects are ectothermic and therefore rely on their environment to provide the heat needed to carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat dependence for insects has been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other contributing factors such as increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown that the European speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the temperature range of 8В°C and 14 В°C even when controlling for larger female body sizes. The findings of the study suggest that temperature can limit insectreproductionin two specific ways. First, the development of the egg may be inhibited by temperature ranges that are outside the preferred range of the insect. Second, the female s range of time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the temperature of the immediate environment is not conducive to the survival of her offspring (Berger et al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor when considering the success rate of many insect species. Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of certain insects and the implications that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During these years, the Indian Removal Act was passed, and was the first major law within the time frame. This act, passed in 1830, stated that all the Indian tribes residing east of the Mississippi River needed to pack up and move to the west of the river, although the relocation was only voluntary. Jackson did this in the hopes that they would give in to the pressure, considering that he sided with the land hungry citizens eager to take their place. This was because the Americans wanted to settle in the lands occupied by the Indians, therefore requiring them to evacuate over one hundred thousand of them. Overall, the passing of this policy affected Jackson s political and social philosophy. To begin, Andrew Jacksonhad been planning for the removal of the Indians even before he took office. As stated in Document 3, It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent policy of the Government, steadily pursued for nearly thirty years, in relation to the removal of the Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching...a happy consummation. For many years now, state laws have continued to recognize the validity and enforceability of agreements not to compete that are ancillary to employment. However, not all states recognize non compete agreements. It is required that such agreements be reasonably necessary for them to be enforceable (Miehe, 2002). These covenants should ensure an additional safeguard to all legitimate business and their interests. The limitation on duration and geography should be reasonable. Such agreements, when properly drafted and executed, provide the employer with an effective way to protect customer goodwill, proprietary business information, and the time and resources it has invested in the training of employees. Richard who is an actor had entered into a non compete agreement with his employer who goes by the name Mark, the producer. Both of them are based in the state of Ohio where the agreement was signed. A tragic hero can be defined in many different traits and definitions but what makes a perfect tragic hero? It also can have many different meanings and actions towards it. A perfect tragic hero must have a flaw of judgement leading to a tragic flaw also know as a Hamartia. Also a person who is a royal birth and holds a high place in society. Lastly a tragic hero must discover or recognize that the reversal was brought about by their own actions. Creon in Antigone is a perfect example of meeting Aristotle s criteria as a tragic hero. A hero s tragic flaw is usually due to the character s lack of knowledge, lack of judgment, and overwhelming pride. The flaw leads to destructive consequences but that does not define the hero as a bad character. More so Aristotle believes that the tragic hero brings their downfall to evoke the feelings of pity and fear among the audience. Their legs are so weak since they have to handle so much more weight than what they are designed to do. This vision may no longer be fictional if the world keeps ignoring the issue of childhood obesity. Nowadays, not only adults, but the number of children who are obese are incredibly high. The topic has to be taken more seriously because it is not only bad for their health obviously but it is also abusive. Youngsters with obesity will tend to stay obese when they grow up and we can all agree that it is not so pleasant to be in such circumstances. These children are our worthiest fortune and the world s future generation. When the time comes, their quality of life and level of happiness will accurately reflect how we raise them and how much caring and love do we have toward them. Every issue has its own roots of problems and we have to identify those before heading to find solutions. Definitions: According to researches over decades, overweight or obese are usually used to describe the condition of having too much excess body fat. The most common way to measure if someone is overweight is based on their BMI. Someone with a BMI over 30 will be considered as obese. • 21. The Themes Of Death And Death Cambridge Hinds Big Question Paper The Meaning of Death The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE, and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez. Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared end, and reconciliation as well as separation. In the tragedy Medea, death is central to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Importance Of Pulse Pressure 1. Define pulse pressure? How did it change with light and heavy exercise to PP? What is the expected PP response to exercise? 2 marks пѓ Pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure reading. It represents the force that the heart generates each time it contracts. During exercise periods, the pulse pressure will increase because the stroke volume, or the amount of ventricular blood pumped with a given contraction increases to fuel muscular contractions. This increase in stroke volume will cause an increase in systolic pressure, while the diastolic pressure will remain relatively constant, increasing the value of pulse pressure. Based on needs for muscular activity, the stroke volume will adjust accordingly, so lighter exercise will have a smaller increase in ventricular contraction and heavier exercise will have a greater increase in ventricular contraction. This will result in a smaller increase in systolic pressure for light activity and greater increase in systolic pressure for heavy activity. It is expected this to happen because with an increasing demand for oxygenated blood from muscles engaging in sarcomeric contraction, the heart will contract with greater force (systolic pressure) in order to maximize stroke volume, ensuring that sufficient oxygen/nutrients is given to working muscles. 2. This is the reason for its superior impact strength (about 10 times higher than CR 39) and why it s used for safety and sports glasses. Another important property is that polycarbonate naturally blocks 100% UV light. On the other hand, its optical quality is inferior to CR 39. Polycarbonate makes sense as an outdoor eyewear material. It s a good pick for sunglasses, which should have UV protection. On the other hand, CR 39 plastic would require a special UV protection coating for outdoor use. This increases its cost. Because of the depth, there is a big controversy on what some of the words represent. Some people even think Miss American Pie represents the civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.. One example of McLean s use of irony is in the story about Holly. The irony comes from how he describes when Holly was younger, he borrowed a coat from James Dean, and then many years later he was a famous singer. McLean uses a subjective point of view as he uses his interpretations, comments, and judgments to appeal to pathos in this song. McLean uses only two of the rhetorical appeals. Ethos is used when he describes the other singers most people know about. And while Lenin read a book on Marx, emphasizes ethos because Lenin was a famous singer who people respect. It was a challenge for us to work with the standard reports to resolve these issues with the work force we have available to us in the direct side of the business, said Trilling. We were able to create a workflow application using the data contained within CWData, and this allowed us to respond to these issues in an efficient and cost effective manner. Leveraging CWData s unique functionality to extract only new and changed data to the CWData database, Trilling created a Lotus Notes application that accesses the CWData database to find all the orders that have gone on hold. Once the orders are accessed, the application sends an e mail to the customer and, using the workflow capability within Notes, adds it to a CSR s work queue. The application then accesses the CWData database to see if the order has gone off hold, CommercialWare s CWData solution allows us to maximize our offerings and provides us with a more accurate understanding of overall sales activity across the direct side of the business, Todd Trilling, Director of Catalog Systems and then resolves the issue. In this way, the majority of held orders can be resolved without any manual effort. Abercrombie went live with CWData one month after their August 2001 CWDirect launch. Abercrombie kids was launched first with adults following six months later. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. All Time Bulls Research Paper For the past week or two, we ve been hearing about this debate about the All Time Lakers against the All Time Bulls. Every basketball fan on social media has shared their thoughts on this matchup of All Time teams. It s even gotten to the point where Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O Neal went at it with each other via Instagram. All Time Bulls Team that ll consist of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen taking on a Lakers team that s stacked with nothing but Hall of Famers, is an intriguing discussion but is it really a huge debate? If the two teams were to meet in let s say a seven game series, would it even be close? Some think Chicago would win while others believe that the Lakers would dominate and that I wouldn t be close. I m on the half... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I mean you ll have Magic, who is a pass first point guard, dishing out to the likes of Kobe, Shaq, West, and Kareem on top of keeping defenders on their heels. Bulls would have to really figure out how to slow that down and I don t think Rose is the guy to really do that. I do believe the Bulls have an advantage at the Small Forward and Shooting Guard position. Yes Laker fans I would have to give the edge to Pippen over Jerry West seeing Scottie was a lot more athletic and was pretty good defensive player, while Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are about equal. They re very identical when you look at them on film but I give the slightest of slight edge to Jordan on this one. The huge disadvantage comes in the post where you have Kareem and Shaq for the Lakers and Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman for the Bulls. Now offensively realistically the Lakers would have an issue because A: Both Kareem and Shaq are centers and B: Both will clog up likely clog up the post, but even with that Kareem and Shaq too much for Grant and Rodman. Rodman would do whatever to grab rebounds and was a pretty good defensive player while Grant was a solid starter on some pretty good teams but when you re talking Kareem and Shaq, that s a tall task for the two offensively and defensively. The bench is also a huge advantage for the Lakers where it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Prevalence Of Autonomic Dysfunction And Fac Tors... DISCUSSION This study was performed to assess the prevalence of autonomic dysfunction, and fac tors affecting CAN. The study included 56 eligible participants with T2DM. Our study reveals that a significant proportion of patients with T2DM have CAN. Study found that overall 85% of persons with T2DM have CAN (combined early and definite CAN). Mean fasting blood glucose and BMI were significantly associated with CAN in type 2 DM. Parasympathetic involvement was more than sympathetic involvement. Out of all tests performed, heart rate response to standing (EI ratio) and deep breathing (30:15 ratio) were the most common test affected in our study population. S. Aggarwal et al [41] in their study on 50 patients with non cardiac Diabetes Mellitus had demonstrated 70% of patients were tested positive for autonomic dysfunction, however our study reports 85% patient to have autonomic dysfunction. In our study , 8(14%)had no CAN, 24 (42%) had early CAN, and 24 (42%) had definite CAN. A study by Angadi sumaswi et al [42], 32% (16) patients had no CAN. Early CAN was seen in 14% (7), severe CAN in 14% (7), definite CAN in 8% (4) patients. Atypical CAN with other combination of abnormalities was seen in 32% (16) patients. Various studies shows different prevalence of CAN ranging from 58% to 70 % [43 45]. The most common abnormality observed was heart rate response to standing(68%), followed by deep breathing( 64%). Heart rate response to valsalva was the least affected (30%) ... • 43. The Debate On Human Genetic Engineering Long Stance Paper on Human Genetic Engineering The debate on whether human genetic engineering should be researched and used as the main alternative solution to disease have been going on since the creation of the human genetic engineering phenomenon. The ethical question is clear: should money be invested in human genetic engineering and should we research it at all, even if it is formally criticized by all monotheistic religions? The ethical principles in conflict are beneficence (people with fatal diseases could be cured) and non maleficence (undermines the will of God, according to religious groups and in addition, there is no guarantee of successful results). My stance on this debated topic is that human genetic engineering should not be funded or researched, as there is no 100% guarantee that it will be successful, and in addition, I am a very religious person, and in my opinion, the body that a person has is a gift of God, and it should not be changed in any ways. However, there are still thousands of people with fatal diseases who have no hope for surviving, and human genetic engineering could serve as the only hope for them. There are many sides that can be affected either positively or negatively if human genetic engineering is funded and researched, however, the major stakeholders are primarily the government of US and private companies who fund all the experiments, people with fatal diseases who hope for any type of cure., and the science in general, because if ... • 44. Jainism Is An Environmentally Responsible Way Of Life Mahavira said, All of life is just like me. I want to live. So do all souls, all living beings. The instinct of self preservation is universal. Every animate being clings to life and fears death. Each of us wants to be free from pain. So let me carry out all of my activities with great care not to be harmful to any living being (as cited in Rosenfield Segall). Jainismis an ecologically responsible way of life, which is non violent in thoughts, actions, and deeds (Pecorino, 2001). The heart of Jainism is to live and practice ahimsa. This is the action by which all actions are judged (ahimsa| Britannica.com, 2015). The Golden Rule, if you will. The Jain s believe that life is eternal. That all living souls have the potential of attaining enlightenment and immortality (Raghuram, 2004). If you interrupt the spiritual progress or jiva of an insect, animal, plant or person, you will incur karma (ahimsa | Britannica.com, 2015). Your karma will affect your samsara, and will determine your next incarnation. The purpose in one s life is to attain liberation from the samsara cycle. Why are we drawn to the many different facets of violencethat we experience in our lives? Is violence a learned behavior or has it become a part of our evolutionary progression. As hunters and gatherers, we used violence for survival. Now, it seems that humans react with violence to resolve multiple types of conflict. Is it just primal instinct? Does our subconscious fight or flight control the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
