Whistle Blower
Being a Whistle Blower
To some the word whistleblower just sounds like a bad thing to be called. So what is a whistle
blower you may ask? A whistleblower is a person who informs on a person or an organization
engaged in an illicit activity. So what are the pro to being a whistleblower, better yet what are the
cons as well? Some of the pros are that the person who is a whistleblower is a courageous individual
who recognize a wrong and are willing to take risks in order to see that the wrongs are corrected.
Personal gratification isn t the only benefit of becoming a whistleblower though. The amount that
the relator can receive most often ranges from 15% to 30% depending on whether the government
intervenes in the case or not. The whistle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The length of the process and the uncertainty that comes with it can be incredibly taxing on the
whistleblower. (Pros and Cons of Becoming a Whistleblower) Just seeing that your identity will
be revealed to everyone who wanted to see what the case was about is a scary fact. People will
see you as nothing more than a rat to the company and may make it much harder for you to ever
get a job with any corporation. That being said I cant see how anyone would want to be a
whistleblower at all because it could ruin your life in the long run.
I believe that Douglas Durand and the Federal Government were wrong in the case against TAP
when it comes to ethical standpoint. The fact that their case started to fall apart because Douglas
didn t have all the proof that he truly thought he had. I also believe that they didn t have the
justification to go in and say that TAP was going and making these overcharges towards the
government Medicare. If Douglas had just stayed a little longer and perhaps was able to prove
everything much easier and much faster in the process instead of having everything almost fall
apart on their faces.
If it were up to me to make sure that TAP doesn t get a lawsuit like the following again I think that
they should do the following. Hire people that go through an extensive background. Make sure that
if they are planning on scamming the government because they are money hungry

How Model Rocket Works
How do model rockets work? A rocket is propelled by thrust produced from the expulsion of gases
or particles, most commonly as a result of a chemical reaction between fuel and an oxidizer that
occurs in a combustion chamber.
A rocket works by the reaction that is occurred in the combustion chamber. the thrust from the
expulsion of gas and particles is in close pressure which makes the reaction longer and with more
power for the rocket to fly higher and faster. the model rocket is used by a model of a rocket itself
and the motor which moves it.
How is rocketry similar to chemistry learning? a chemical reaction between fuel and an oxidizer
that occurs in a combustion chamber. The reaction of the fuel and oxidizer reacts in the combustion
chamber of the rocket. There is a chemical reaction because the fuel and oxidizers are reacting by
creating smoke and heat. This is similar to chemistry because in chemistry it is all about chemical
reactions therefore there is a chemical reaction in the combustion chamber of the rocket.
How is a model rocket built? A model rocket is an aerospace model, a miniature version of a real
space vehicle. The model rocket is built with the same design as a regular space vehicle just in a
smaller version.Model rockets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Attack on the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut
Attack on the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut Section I On October 23, 1983, a massive
explosion from a 19 ton truck full of explosives attacked military barracks and killed 241
servicemen (including 220 U.S. Marines) in Beirut, Lebanon. The blast was the biggest known
non nuclear explosion since World War II and was the bloodiest day since Iowa Jima, according
to Rick Hampson writing in USA Today. The Marines had been sent to Lebanon as peace keepers,
trying to bring some peace to a civil war that was ongoing in Lebanon. Military observers
subsequent to that horrific event have suggested that this terrorist assault was the beginning of the
reign of terror that radical Islamic would continue to perpetrate on Americans through the next
twenty years. Hampson explains that the bloody attack on American servicemen was ...a seminal
moment on a timeline that led to the 9/11 attacks, to the war the U.S. waged in Afghanistan
(Hampson, 2008). Moreover, Hampson notes that this attack drove the U.S. out of Lebanon but
more than that, if led people like Osama bin Laden to ...conclude that when America gets its nose
bloodied, it pulls back (Hampson, p. 1). Previous to this attack the Cold War era was a time when
the greatest enemy of the U.S. was Soviet communism; but following the attack, there were new
and extremely dangerous enemies such as al Qaeda, Hezbollah, the Taliban and Iran, Hampson
continues. This paper reviews the reasons for the U.S. presence in Beirut, the

Media s Promotion of Consumerism
Media s Promotion of Consumerism Demian Estrada The advertising industry spends $12 billion
per year on ads targeted to children, bombarding young audiences with persuasive messages
through media such as television and the Internet. The average child is exposed to more than
40,000 TV commercials a year, according to studies. And ads are reaching children through new
media technologies and even in schools with corporate sponsored educational materials and product
placements in students textbooks. American Psychological Association(APA) From the moment

To explain this problematic issue the media entities have come up with some questions like;
What do consumers need? Is it a real or false need? Can we come up with a common and
definitive set of universal human needs? What is it that consumers really need? Is it perhaps in
order to stay alive? These questions can lead to different answers that in essence come down to
particular human behaviors. (Colin Campbell 282). One example of human behavior with
regards to the food we eat is that most of the world s population eats more that they really need
to maintain proper nutrition and healthy lives. Another is shown in the types of vehicles we
drive. Is it really necessary to drive a huge 4 wheel drive, fuel inefficient SUV around the city or
on a commute to work? Furthermore, is it really necessary to have 50 pairs of shoes? In order to
specify some one s needs it is essential to have a comprehensive knowledge of that person s
background and ambitions and their needs and desires. The media is creating desires that we
confuse with needs. (Colin Campbell 280 283). The most effective ads are ones that we don t
even recognize as advertisements. Like ads we see in television series, news, movies and even on
clothing. We are manipulated quickly by common objects, characters, or ideas that are transformed
into things that all Americans desire, hope for, fear, believe the most. (Jack Solomon). Sex never

Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife
Wildlife
Introduction
Purpose
I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I m examining this because it s
truly important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live.
Problem
Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human
interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide
Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for
roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our wildlife.
Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct.
According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also
destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the
oceans can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal s homes, it has a negative effect on
the food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must
realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet
is in jeopardy.
Procedures/Methodology
The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next
page. I used the stratified sampling method. The survey question was Do you think wildlife is
important? and people answered either yes or no.

Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum.
As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy
is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little
government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe
Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries
such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned
Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the
consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy,
the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it
by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be
used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever
be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on
the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed
economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Thank you for your email. We just had a nor easter. It started Monday night and continued
through Tuesday. In a sense, many people are on the recovery mode today including us. They
said Spring officially starts on Monday but I am not seeing it. It is still in the low 20s plus the
wind chill factor, feels more like in the teens. Hope to see spring sometime soon. As you can
probably tell, I have started re working the analysis given the figures from Dr. Ogoshi and Dr.
Murthy s team. If you have followed the email exchanges, you probably noted that Dr. Murthy s
team is using different yield levels than us. I am not really sure why that is the case. At any rate,
you may want to clarify with the team when you have the meeting to ensure that everybody is on
the same page. For the current analysis, I am using the crop yields agreed upon with Dr.
Ogoshi. I will also incorporate the jet fuel processing cost calculated by Dr. Murthy s team. They
have not gotten back to me on my follow up queries. In the analysis, I will include the break even
yields and break even prices for the two bioenergy crops. I should be able to send the preliminary

Blair House Internship
Although my four months interning at Blair House, the President s Guest House, was short, I
learned a great deal not only about collection management of a historical house, but also about the
history of an influential family and the history of diplomacy in the United States Government.
Previous to this internship, Blair House was not a place that I had any real knowledgeabout. My
limited wisdom came from a scene or two in a movie and television show. Learningso much about a
wonderful collection with so much historical value has been a once in a lifetime opportunity
Not only has this internship has been a life changing experience for me in my pursuit of a career in
collections management, but it has opened doors for me in the connections I made with the people
that work in the State Department. I was graciously welcomed into Blair House by people whose
passions align with mine. Being surrounded on a daily basis with a real sense of diplomacy and
history humbles most who walk through the house. The stories that are told on the curator led tours

to put what I have learn from class and textbooks into a real world setting, and making last

visited every Muslim country on the journey. He recorded details about the social and political
life he witnessed. There are many similarities and differences in achievements of Mansa Musa
and Ibn Battuta during the medieval period. Mansa Musa and Ibn Battuta had very similar
successes during the medieval period being that they were both of Islamic faith and were also
great travelers as they both traveled to Mecca for the Hajj. However, of the many things they had
in common one big difference was that Mansa Musa and Ibn Battuta had different profession in

Gascoigne Literary Devices
In For That He Looked Not upon Her, George Gascoigne uses several literary devices to bring his
poem together in a way that makes the point of it clear. He also uses these devices to show the
deeper meaning behind his words. Of many, three of the devices used prominently throughout his
work is form, diction, and imagery. All pulled together the author is able to clearly portray a
betrayed tone towards the subjectof the poem. An example of the diction in his writing is use of
word such as blazing, flame, fire, and scorched. These words often have a negative connotation
as they re ones that often mean danger or something one should be cautious of or stay away
from all together. By saying the subject of the poem has blazing eyes , for example, Gascoigne
makes it clear that this person is harmful and either will, or has caused some sort of damage.
Words such as trustless, doubt, deceit are also ones that have a negative connotation and are used
to show the relationship between the examples used. All together this shows that the relationship at
hand is meant to have the same connotation and is being portrayed in a negative light. Continuing
with diction, by using phrases such as trustless bait and dazzled by desire , the author is saying
that above only being something cruel, all of these things are ones that at first appear alluring. By
inserting vague words like hardly and seldom, he says that while it s most often one

similarities. While there are many differences as well both of the stories help to explain the
relationship the ancient people had with their Gods. In the Book of Genesisand in the Epic of

Child Labor Rights
Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Malala Yousafzai all fought for the rights that they believed
in. They all were leaders part of a big picture. Although these three individuals used different
methods to get their point across, they all had courage to speak out about injustice and improve
human rights. Mother Jones was a lady who stood up for all of the children who were mistreated
because of child labor. When trying to get her point out, Mother Jones went to newspapers for
public articles on what was happening to these working children. Unfortunately, the factories
owned the newspapers so they wouldn t publish her position on the subject, so she made her
own form of publicity by forming a march of children and parents. (Josephson). She was an
activist for the abolishment of child labor. Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even
though not a lot of people listened. After publicly marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton

pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government finally passed a child labor law (part of the
Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after the march of the mill children. Mother
Jones was persistent on getting her message out in public because so many people were clueless on
what was happening to the children. She would most definitely say that defending all human rights

Cosme Tura s Work
CosmГЁ Tura was one of the first Netherlandish painters to master the oil technique in Italy. Most
of his works were lost but one of his most known artworks, the organ doors are preserved in a

important contributions are being an official court painter and being an important figure in the
School of Ferrara.
Tura was born in 1430 in the city of Ferrara, Italy where he lived for most of his life. Giorgio

St George and the Princess was also painted on canvas with tempera paint. The background of St
George and the Princess is a mountain with a road going up to the top where there is a building.
Also the princess is running away scared from St George who is on the horse. This painting by
Tura is a good painting but a little hard to understand.
Without CosmГЁ Tura the world today would be very different. Since, Tura used the oil
technique for most of his paintings it would not be as popular without him. Also he helped a lot
with the School of Ferrara so the school may not have even existed. Without the School of
Ferrara many of the good artists from the 15th century would not be well known. Tura may not
have been the best or most known artist but he contributed to many important things. The two
things that helped Tura to become more successful were working for the d Este dukes and being
a big figure in the Ferrara School. Some of the artworks he made besides the ones for the organ
doors were, A Muse (Calliope?), Saint Jerome, The Virgin and the Enthroned, and The Virgin
Annunciate. Cosme Tura was an artist who grew up in the small town of Ferrara but in his later
years became a very successful man. Will we ever discover more about CosmГЁ

Building Trust And Cooperation Within The Worker Client...
Another element from the conversation that makes sense to me, and I will be more conscious of in
the future, is the explanation of how our clients not reaching their goals, or not being able to
achieve a certain task, as an opportunity to explore why not and to give them more positive
reinforcements rather than to count not accomplishing tasks as failures against them (Quartz,
March 7, 2016). I can see these practices as ways to build trust and cooperation within the worker

Another element that I will use in future practice, that I was aware of in another context, is part of
the relationship building process of supporting the client coming to terms with their history, the
present situation, and their future. We discussed using timeframes to help clients with this process,
which is something I had not thought of to use in the context of this course but it makes sense and
I will use it in the future. In policy analyse and political science, this method is used in
understanding policies, the history of wars, revolutions, and social movements so of course it
makes sense to apply it to clients with tumultuous histories to help them understand where their
current challenges stem from and to support their moving forward I can see the process of healing
and moving forward as somewhat of a personal revolution.
In the chapter Problem Solving, Trotter (2006c) outlines the seven steps 1. Problem survey; 2.

steps that I was trained to preform during service assessments but with a strengths base approach
and viewed through the lens of client centered and general systems theories, which I find to be
complementary accompaniments to Trotter s approach. One of the suggestions that I found helpful

Sheffield offers a captivating analysis of Bowie s songs and the way that they both reflected
their times and impacted the music industry. He does this through placing Bowie s career into
its socio historical context. An example of this is Sheffield s analysis of Bowie s song Space
Oddity . This song links the historical occurrences of Western society s fascination with space
with the musical influences of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones He explains how this
intertwinement of both these contexts lead to the creation of the song. For this specific example,
Sheffield even goes to explain how and why Bowie s career would have been over if the
astronauts had failed to survive their moonwalk in 1969 (40). Sheffield puts emphasis on the long...

He discusses, for instance, the cover of The Man Who Sold the World ( Bowie poses in a dress (a

how, according to Lucy Green s theories, Bowie s actions regularly threatened his masculinity

controversy, influencing other musicians, and exploring every possible idea for himself. Lucy
Green recognized that understanding music can come from outside the classroom (Green, 1997).

Birthing And Prenatal Care Interview
Birthing and Prenatal Care Interview Giving birth to a baby is the most amazing and
miraculous experiences for parents and their loved ones. Every woman s birth story is different
and full of joy. Furthermore, the process from the moment a woman knows that she s pregnant
to being in the delivering room is very critical to both her and the newborn baby. Prenatal care is
extremely important and it can impact greatly the quality of life of the baby. In this paper, the
topic of giving birth will be discussed thoroughly by describing the stories of two mothers who
gave birth in different decades and see how their prenatal cares are different from each other with
correlation of the advancement of modern medicine between four decades. Christine Le, an
accountant living in Flushing, New York, gave birth to a healthy baby Nathan on January 29th,
2010. She found out that she was pregnant with her first child when her period was late. She had
the routine prenatal care starting at 12 weeks and delivered at 40 weeks in a hospital with the
present of her husband, Robert, and the in laws. To insure her baby was healthy, Christine
underwent several prenatal diagnostic methods like amniocentesis to examine for genetic defects.
Another method was ultrasound; its purpose is to assess fetal age, multiple pregnancies, size and
shape of the fetus. Christine underwent numerous lab tests to ensure that there are no complications
(Berk, pg.43). Lab tests like a complete blood count that screens

Media and Its Effects on Society

Final Paper Draft 1 The media is an obvious factor in the increase of violence, risky behavior, and
obesity in kids in our society. Television programs and movies are becoming more and more
violent, and more abundant to fulfill the demand for an overly desensitized audience. For any type
of television show or movie to be considered good and entertaining it must excel in at least 3
categories: blood and guts, curse words, and the most important element of all how believable are
the scenarios. The good guy must prevail, even if it means murdering 25 men in order to rescue

A survey of 2,000 3rd graders showed that as the number of hours of television viewing
increased, so did the rates of anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress (Rao,79). Some

children will become fearful of the real world and expect that something bad will happen to
them (How TV Affects Your Child, Par. 10). Many parents think that they can explain away the
frightening scenes that children watch, but unfortunately frightening TV scenes have an
immediate impact on kids: 62% of parents report that their children have at some point been
scared that something they saw in a TV program or movie might happen to them (Rao, 80).
Another very sad problem that too much television is creating is that in most cases children
watch television alone. Teenagers with very few friends often create substitute friendships, also
know as parasocial friendships (71). Television does not educate children on how to integrate
and contribute to society in healthy ways. Often times children are bombarded with messages
like, its cool to smoke, its cool to drink, have sex with whoever you want as long as their hot, and
its okay to beat someone up as long as you re the good guy. How can we possibly be creating a

Empiricism And Existentialism
The simplest definition of the word philosophy is the study of knowledge. The three texts of
Empiricism by unknown, Existentialism by unknown, What is Philosophy? by unknown, and
Existentialism as Philosophy by Fernando Molina all incorporate the history and subtopics that tie
in with Philosophy. Philosophywas originally used by the Greeks which was defined as the
pursuit of knowledge for its own sake, and comprised ALL areas of speculative thought, including
the arts, sciences and religion (What is Philosophy). Since Philosophy is such a large and
extensive topic to cover, it is easier to understand when it is broken off into individual sections. The
two sections that will be focused on are empiricism and existentialism. Empiricism derives from
the Greek word for experience and from the Roman word of empiric , which is a physician
whose skill comes from experience. Empiricism encompasses the idea that all knowledge is
gained from self experience. In the text Empiricism the author wrote It emphasizes the role of
experience and evidence, especially sensory perception, in the formation of ideas, and argues that
the only knowledge humans can have is a posteriori (i.e. based on experience). This idea supports
why babies learn so much when they grow up; they are starting to learn and experience new things
for themselves. In a modern day context, it also explains why humans learn so much from their
mistakes, even if one person saw another person fail, they

The Importance Of Ramadan
Ramadan is an important ritual for Muslims to practise because Allah commanded to follow it and

Ramadan is significantly important for Muslims because fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam,
which is obligatory for Muslims to observe for a month. The responses of surveyors seem to
explain that 4 Muslims believed that Ramadan is important because the Qur an was first revealed to

However, others believe fasting is to clean sins and ask for forgiveness to Allah. In contrast,

According to the secondary research, fasting gives Muslims an opportunity to practice self control
and cleanse sins, the body and mind. Many cultures and religions use fasting for this purpose.
During Ramadan, fasting helps Muslims with their spiritual devotion as well as in developing a
feeling of kinship with other Muslims.
Therefore, Ramadan is important for Muslims to practise self control, cleanse sins, discipline,
getting rid of bad habits, purify souls and the holy book was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
By fasting in Ramadan, Muslims increase spiritual devotion towards Allah as it is the purpose of
Ramadan.

3.How is Ramadan significant to Muslims in Australia today?
Ramadan is significant to Muslims in Australia today, but Eid ul Fitr is incredibly important
because it is celebrated at the end of the month by gathering together in the mosque for prayer and
celebrating it with family and friends. This is because Ramadan is about fasting for a month and
following the rules of fasting. However, the last three days of the month are very important
because Eid is a special occasion for Muslims, it is about social gathering, spending

Examples Of Learned Helplessness
Since childhood Sandra had experienced numerous difficulties in her life, began by her father
who was continuously abusing her in different ways, his actions had developed a sense of
helplessness inside of her that stayed with her for many years to follow at the age of 22 Sandra
got married to her husband who at first seemed to be a man of well manners, but it was proven
later on that he was completely the opposite of her expectations, besides he had also created an
abusive unhealthy environment for her which has further increased her level of helplessness.
Learned helplessness is defined as the inability to take control over one s life due to a previous
lack of control in important life outcomes (manyu li ,vaishali mardhekar, alka wadkar may 1 2012 )
The Learned helplessness phenomenon is proposed as a model for the emotional numbing and

interactions between them is different from each other? While you re reading, think about those
reasons you came up with, and compare them to the reasons in the essay. Furthermore, the ensuing
of this essay will include the relationship between Lyra and Jordan College, and the relationship
between Lyra and the Gyptains, all compared and contrasted in three ways with textual evidence

the Master because of their mature relationship. In like manner, Lyra then packs her stuff and
then proceeds to start living with Mrs. Coulter in London. She brings an alethiometer (suggested

would find out that Mrs. Coulter is a gobbler, and she runs away. This crucially affects to the plot

The main cause of the incident was the late transfer of the MIC from the Tank 610 which was use
to produce pesticide to the SEVIN unit when they realized that water had entered the storage tank.
During the time range from 12.15 am to 12.30am on 3rd December 1984, the investigation team
had concluded that there was a transfer of MIC from Tank 610 although the data in the logs had
been falsified. The team got an attempt to remove water from the Tank 610 when they knew that
the safety valves of the system lifted and the pressure in the storage tank was high enough to
release the MIC water mixture compound. The transfer seemed to be impracticable as the remove
of the one ton of the material was not enough to relief the pressure in the tank. The only thing that
the workers could do was to remove the water that found in the tank. Anyway, the transfer of the
MIC compound was too late because the pressure of the Tank 610 was too high to get control.
Perhaps, this poor incident happened due to the technological, organization and human errors. The
safety and maintenance procedures for the manufacturing plants had been ignored for months due
to the financial problem faced by the company. Firstly, the MIC compound stored in the Tank 610
had overloaded. In reality, the content of MIC in the tank cannot be more than 50%. But for this
case, the MIC stored in this tank was more than recommend capacity,

Chief Black Dog established a permanent village between Black Dog Lake and the Minnesota

Benefit Of Moderate Drinking
Benefits of Moderate Drinking Drinking alcohol can be good for your health and studies have
shown that boozing on occasion has some perks which includes reduced stress, decresed risk of
heart attacks, and lower chances of diabetes. Social drinking is used by many people globally.
Kloner et al.(2007) from the School of Public Health at Harvard University found that moderate
amounts of alcoholraises levels of high density lipoprotein, and higher HDL levels are associated
with greater protection against heart disease. Moderate alcohol consumption has also been linked
with beneficial changes ranging from better sensitivity to insulin to improvements in factors that
influence blood clotting. Such changes would tend to prevent the formation of small blood clots
that can block arteries in the heart, neck, and brain, the ultimate cause of many heart attacks and the
most common kind of stroke. This finding is applicable to both men and women. HDL cholesterolis
the well behaved good cholesterol . It removes harmful bad cholesterol from where it doesn t
belong.
Drinking in moderate amounts can lead to certain psychological benefits, as research show. Low
levels of alcohol can reduce stress, anxiety and help reduce tension. Studies show that low levels
of comsupmtion get more sleep on average than those who sleeps in excess. In addition,
consumption can also cause the comsumer to feel more relaxed. These psychological effects of
moderate drinking are positive ones that can be

Dallas City Cemetery Anthropology
A great many books have been written about cemeteries in Dallas, Texas. More specifically,
many of these books are based on the pioneer cemeteries of Dallas s founding families. Many of
Dallas s older cemeteries are not in use today for anything more than tours or an occasional local

given to marking the grave site because the gravedigger seldom expected to be able to protect

Throughout the entire animation film, there is no direct expectation of what is happening. Daffy
and the anonymous animator have this very lucrative but interesting interaction between one
another that is hard to distinguish. Even though Daffy is the only character on screen and that his
reactions are what make the comedy possible, the animator persistently changes creative
perspective. At one stage, the animator draws Daffy with a guitar, we then expect to hear the
guitar playing. But at first, no sound is heard when he strikes a chord. Daffy then holds up a sign
asking Sound please , shortly after, we hear a variation of distant sounds that start again, whenever
he plays a chord. At first, with a machine gun, then a horn and finally the sound of a donkey when
Daffy strikes the guitar into the ground in frustration. To make matters worse, the animator goes on
to take away Daffy s voice when he comes back on screen after clearing away the guitar. His voice,
now replaced with animal sounds that Daffy gets embarrassed and distraught over. It is fantastic to
see artistic variation between form, prop and even an anonymous force, but all of this could not
compliment each other without the sound to intensify the moment. (Understanding Animation page

Simulation Pricing Strategy
My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the
maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by
implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a
number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random
number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number
corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes
until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my
project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas
suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of
pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot
based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period.
The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were:
It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because

price being the main factor in the probability I saw little point in modeling the probability of

Gender Roles Of Female Characters
Throughout the eras, literature has mirrored the social changes taking place in English society
specifically in regards to gender roles of female characters. The Elizabethan era, which lasted from
1558 to 1603, is often referred to as the golden age by historians where many transitions in English
society regarding marriage and gendertook place (Ivic 110). It was a time in which wives were
viewed as the property of their husbands (Ivic 110). However, every womanwas expected to marry
and be dependent on her husband or male relatives throughout her life (Ivic 98). Conversely, the
Victorian era, which lasted from 1837 to 1901 was an era with similar social customs regarding
marriage and family relations; however, there were slight ideological shifts in society which
allowed for more independent women (Ledbetter 25). The Victorian society placed a greater
emphasis on proper attire and etiquette of a woman. The ideal marriage still remained one in
which the woman stayed at home, took care of the household and made preparations until her
husband came home from work. The difference between the two eras lied in the fact that the
Victorian era was an era in which it was more acceptable to value a woman s opinion (Ledbetter
30). Both the Elizabethan and Victorian era held similar beliefs about marriage and family customs,
however slight differences regarding social etiquette and increased autonomy for women played an
important role in the literature written in both eras. Examples of

Emma s Masculinity in Madame Bovary Essay
Set in the Victorian era of the 1800 s Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert exemplifies society s
views on the established gender roles of this time. Flaubert utilizes Emma Bovary s masculinity to
accentuate Emma s desire for control. Her desire for control extends from the social pressure of the
period, revealing her envy towards men. Flaubert undoubtedly depicts Emma s characteristics to
have a masculine undertone and throughout the novelher femininity deviates as her priority shifts.
Emma s lack of femininity translates to her relationships by maneuvering an interchanging role of a

Emma compares her opportunities and position in society to those of Leon. While Society
encourages him to become cultured, educated, and expand his horizons on the contrary women
hinders in that desire may only be just that, but a hopeful wish to be granted by their spouse. Her
sadness, not only derives from Leon s departure, but of her realization of a woman s bound role
under the law and status.
Flaubert depicts Emma as having subtle masculine characteristics emphasizing her masculinity not
only mentally but physically as well. In some cases, Flaubert uses irony to characterize Emma s
masculine features. Yet her hand was not beautiful, perhaps not white enough, and a little hard at
the knuckles; besides, it was too long, with no soft inflections in the outlines (Flaubert 28) the
narrator describes Emma as lacking the soft subtle femininity that high class women have. The
contrast of her beauty lessens her femininity in this case making her appear more tusk and
masculine. Emma s femininity gets challenged on the pivotal day of the Victorian women s life.
When the narrator describes her on her wedding day, Emma s dress, too long, trailed a little on the
ground; from time to time she stopped to pull it up, and then delicately, with her gloved hands, she
picked off the coarse grass and the thistledown (Flaubert 18 19). On her wedding day, Emma s

Essay about The role of Advanced Practice Nursing (APN)
The role of Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) has changed dramatically in recent years.
Currently, the Unite States (U.S.) health care is focusing on delivering a cost effective health
care to all patients. In the last decades, there were many efforts to control health care over
spending in the U.S. One of such efforts is to focus on applying proven principles of evidence
based practice and cost effectiveness to find the least expensive way to produce a specific clinical
service of acceptable quality (Bauer, 2010). The vast changes in health care system, such as cost,
need for high productivity, limitation on reimbursement, and the inadequacy on access have made

The History of the Hudson Bay Company
Fur trading started between the Europeans along with the Aboriginals when the most valuable
beaver pelts was a substituted for metal and clothing goods such as iron knives and axis, copper
kettles, blankets and trinkets. The beaver pelts were well desired by the Europeans for the
reason that using this fur for headgear provided an elegant way to keep dry. However these pelts
were for fashion, as men and women could be instantly noted within the social hierarchy by
according to their beaver hats. It was so valuable that the sand on the floor was filtered to save
every hair that has fallen off. For the Europeans, captivating advantages of the rich furs from the
Indians in the New World was a major factor in generating handsome profits,... Show more content

When the two adventurers arrived back to Quebec, they discovered something that wasn t on
their mind. This first attempt on escalating their fur trade enterprise was shattered As their first
struggle, the governor denied the men permission to continue their exploration, mainly
frightened that the voyage would shift the focus away from the St. Lawrence. In doing so the
governor of New France, Marquis d Argenson, seized 90% of the furs as taxes and fines! The
punishment was activated because the two men had violated the law for fur trading without a
license. Not only did the confiscation of their pelts were taken place, but they even jailed des
Groseilliers! The anger was felt by the gentlemen and once Groseilliers was freed, the two left the
colony. During the next three years the two men tried their best at persuading Boston clients to
fund voyages to Hudson Bay. Their luck finally approached when their idea of rising demand for
furs into Hudson Bay attracted the attention of Colonel George Cartwright. Cartwright was in New
England to extract taxes from the new colony when he heard this opportunity from Groseilliers
and Radisson. He urged the two gentlemen to travel with him to England to seek sponsorship. The
coureur de bois heard many tales that the Cree nation (west of Lake Superior) had valuable rich
furs and they knew the best way to get these

Responding to the Wii Essay
Executive Summary
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has the unique distinction of being the first and only company
to have had market leadership for 2 consecutive console generations. However, in recent times, the
ecosystem has changed to include a larger audience and usability has trumped technological
superiority as a key metric in generating buyer interest. In 2008, Nintendo s Wii had 2 times the
market share that Sony s offering, the Play Station 3, had. I feel Sony should assess the following
options. (1) Focus on catering to its niche advance game segment and focus on leveraging its
progress form the previous 2 generations. (2) Respond to Wii onslaught by developing its previous
generation console to include a low end offering that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sony must focus on remaining in this unique segment and leveraging its perceived uniqueness as a
technology leader. Instead of competing on Nintendo s terms, Sony should not react but exercise
Ukemi by furthering its position in the serious gaming segment.
It is notable (From Exhibit 2b in the Responding to Wii case Harvard Business Review) that
Nintendo has been successful in keeping positive operating profits despite being a weak competitor
during the previous 2 generations. Nintendo has shown prudence in waiting out 2 battles and
coming up with a unique offering which has changed the way the market perceives gaming. Sony
should concede defeat this generation of gaming, while maintaining balance through strong service
to existing market.
Sony should target the serious gamers and not react to Wii in terms of re assessing its
differentiation strategy.
The positioning question
While Sony is losing market share in the console market, it is winning the Battle for the living
room with Microsoft. With momentum gained from the previous 2 generations and technological
superiority of Sony s offering, Microsoft has taken a bigger blow, with almost double the operating
loss of Sony. (Sony operating loss of $1246.1 M vs Microsoft $2066 M, from Exhibit 2b in the
Responding to Wii case Harvard Business Review).
Sony has a broad offering in consumer electronics segment that it can leverage to provide a

The And Rogers Park Community
Throughout the Edgewater and Rogers Park community, my focus was on the physical health and
well being of the members of the community. The assets identified were doctor s offices, small
clinics and clinics that are a part of a larger chain. Each of these assets show the diversity in the
medical care offered in the Edgewater and Rogers Parkcommunity. For example, the assets that
we found were mostly privately owned and the clinics that are part of a larger chain such as the
clinics in Walgreens or CVS, were small and run by only a few people. There weren t any assets
that were part of a large medical institution such as Advocate or Nova health. There was only one
hospitalwhich is Methodist Hospital which is one of the largest assets we found. This illustrates
how in the Edgewater and Rogers Park community, smaller and more convenient methods of
receiving healthcare is emphasized more than larger scale hospitals. The asset that I researched
and interviewed was Physicians Immediate Care on 6140 North Broadway in Edgewater
Chicago. This is a small clinic which is actually part of a larger chain of clinics that are located in
Nebraska, Indiana, and Illinois. This particular clinic was run by the PhysicianAssistant. I learned
through the interview that the Physician Assistant can perform many of the tasks that a Doctor
could, however, they must practice under a Doctor s license. The Physician Assistant I interviewed
said that a Doctor will periodically come during the week

Elie Wiesel s Night
Night Essay
January 30, 1933 the Holocaust began,This was the birth of one of the worst horrors in war
history, The Holocaust was the transportation of many people of all races, to the ghettos, then
being transported to a concentration camp to where nearly 11 million people died in the span of
12 years . Many stories have been displayed of the apathetic, brutality of living in conditions of the
concentration camps, but one particular story stands on how exactly it was to live in. Night by Elie
Wiesel; this is his story.
Wiesel was transported from Sighet to Auschwitz, a concentration camp for a year; he was 15
years old when he arrived. As he continued living in the camp, he began to question everything.

our arrival, he managed to get word to us that, having been chosen for his strength, he had
himself put his father s own body into the crematoria oven (Wiesel 33) Having to put his own
father into his own death bed is a harrowing experience and not being able to protest at the fear of

The Purpose Of The Marshmallow Experiment
The Marshmallow Experiment was pioneered in the 1960s at the Stanford University daycare. It
introduces a connection between success in the future of young children by their ability to delay
gratification. This study has been operating for more than forty years and still more studies are
being added to test different variables such as studying an individual s emotional impulses and
studying the effects of changing the reliability of a child s environment during the marshmallow
experiment. When these variables are taken into account the result drastically changed. There have
also been follow up studies on the first participants with findings that explain the results of having
low and high delayed gratification. The purpose of the Marshmallow Experiment is to test how
long a young child, typically in the range of 3 5 years old for the experiment, could wait before
giving into temptation. First, the children were given one given a marshmallow by a researcher
of the study, they were instructed to wait to eat the marshmallow until the researcher came back.
If they waited for a total of 15 minutes the researcher would return with a second marshmallow. 2
out of 3 of the kids gave into temptation. While, 1 out of 3 kids had enough willpower to distract
themselves so that they could receive the second treat. Several years later, researchers remained in
contact with these subjects and found that the high delayers, as they were referred to in Mia

  • 2. Whistle Blower Being a Whistle Blower To some the word whistleblower just sounds like a bad thing to be called. So what is a whistle blower you may ask? A whistleblower is a person who informs on a person or an organization engaged in an illicit activity. So what are the pro to being a whistleblower, better yet what are the cons as well? Some of the pros are that the person who is a whistleblower is a courageous individual who recognize a wrong and are willing to take risks in order to see that the wrongs are corrected. Personal gratification isn t the only benefit of becoming a whistleblower though. The amount that the relator can receive most often ranges from 15% to 30% depending on whether the government intervenes in the case or not. The whistle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The length of the process and the uncertainty that comes with it can be incredibly taxing on the whistleblower. (Pros and Cons of Becoming a Whistleblower) Just seeing that your identity will be revealed to everyone who wanted to see what the case was about is a scary fact. People will see you as nothing more than a rat to the company and may make it much harder for you to ever get a job with any corporation. That being said I cant see how anyone would want to be a whistleblower at all because it could ruin your life in the long run. I believe that Douglas Durand and the Federal Government were wrong in the case against TAP when it comes to ethical standpoint. The fact that their case started to fall apart because Douglas didn t have all the proof that he truly thought he had. I also believe that they didn t have the justification to go in and say that TAP was going and making these overcharges towards the government Medicare. If Douglas had just stayed a little longer and perhaps was able to prove everything much easier and much faster in the process instead of having everything almost fall apart on their faces. If it were up to me to make sure that TAP doesn t get a lawsuit like the following again I think that they should do the following. Hire people that go through an extensive background. Make sure that if they are planning on scamming the government because they are money hungry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Model Rocket Works How do model rockets work? A rocket is propelled by thrust produced from the expulsion of gases or particles, most commonly as a result of a chemical reaction between fuel and an oxidizer that occurs in a combustion chamber. • 4. Attack on the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut Attack on the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut Section I On October 23, 1983, a massive explosion from a 19 ton truck full of explosives attacked military barracks and killed 241 servicemen (including 220 U.S. Marines) in Beirut, Lebanon. The blast was the biggest known non nuclear explosion since World War II and was the bloodiest day since Iowa Jima, according to Rick Hampson writing in USA Today. The Marines had been sent to Lebanon as peace keepers, trying to bring some peace to a civil war that was ongoing in Lebanon. Military observers subsequent to that horrific event have suggested that this terrorist assault was the beginning of the reign of terror that radical Islamic would continue to perpetrate on Americans through the next twenty years. Hampson explains that the bloody attack on American servicemen was ...a seminal moment on a timeline that led to the 9/11 attacks, to the war the U.S. waged in Afghanistan (Hampson, 2008). Moreover, Hampson notes that this attack drove the U.S. out of Lebanon but more than that, if led people like Osama bin Laden to ...conclude that when America gets its nose bloodied, it pulls back (Hampson, p. 1). To explain this problematic issue the media entities have come up with some questions like; What do consumers need? Is it a real or false need? Can we come up with a common and definitive set of universal human needs? What is it that consumers really need? Is it perhaps in order to stay alive? These questions can lead to different answers that in essence come down to particular human behaviors. (Colin Campbell 282). One example of human behavior with regards to the food we eat is that most of the world s population eats more that they really need to maintain proper nutrition and healthy lives. Another is shown in the types of vehicles we drive. Is it really necessary to drive a huge 4 wheel drive, fuel inefficient SUV around the city or on a commute to work? Furthermore, is it really necessary to have 50 pairs of shoes? In order to specify some one s needs it is essential to have a comprehensive knowledge of that person s background and ambitions and their needs and desires. The media is creating desires that we confuse with needs. (Colin Campbell 280 283). The most effective ads are ones that we don t even recognize as advertisements. • 6. Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife Wildlife Introduction Purpose I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I m examining this because it s truly important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live. Problem Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our wildlife. Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct. According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the oceans can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal s homes, it has a negative effect on the food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet is in jeopardy. Procedures/Methodology The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next page. I used the stratified sampling method. Market economy is primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. He also uses these devices to show the deeper meaning behind his words. Of many, three of the devices used prominently throughout his work is form, diction, and imagery. All pulled together the author is able to clearly portray a betrayed tone towards the subjectof the poem. An example of the diction in his writing is use of word such as blazing, flame, fire, and scorched. These words often have a negative connotation as they re ones that often mean danger or something one should be cautious of or stay away from all together. By saying the subject of the poem has blazing eyes , for example, Gascoigne makes it clear that this person is harmful and either will, or has caused some sort of damage. Words such as trustless, doubt, deceit are also ones that have a negative connotation and are used to show the relationship between the examples used. All together this shows that the relationship at hand is meant to have the same connotation and is being portrayed in a negative light. Continuing with diction, by using phrases such as trustless bait and dazzled by desire , the author is saying that above only being something cruel, all of these things are ones that at first appear alluring. Philosophywas originally used by the Greeks which was defined as the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake, and comprised ALL areas of speculative thought, including the arts, sciences and religion (What is Philosophy). Since Philosophy is such a large and extensive topic to cover, it is easier to understand when it is broken off into individual sections. The two sections that will be focused on are empiricism and existentialism. Empiricism derives from the Greek word for experience and from the Roman word of empiric , which is a physician whose skill comes from experience. Empiricism encompasses the idea that all knowledge is gained from self experience. In the text Empiricism the author wrote It emphasizes the role of experience and evidence, especially sensory perception, in the formation of ideas, and argues that the only knowledge humans can have is a posteriori (i.e. based on experience). At one stage, the animator draws Daffy with a guitar, we then expect to hear the guitar playing. But at first, no sound is heard when he strikes a chord. Daffy then holds up a sign asking Sound please , shortly after, we hear a variation of distant sounds that start again, whenever he plays a chord. At first, with a machine gun, then a horn and finally the sound of a donkey when Daffy strikes the guitar into the ground in frustration. To make matters worse, the animator goes on to take away Daffy s voice when he comes back on screen after clearing away the guitar. • 36. Simulation Pricing Strategy My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period. The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were: It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because regardless of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... • 37. Gender Roles Of Female Characters Throughout the eras, literature has mirrored the social changes taking place in English society specifically in regards to gender roles of female characters. The Elizabethan era, which lasted from 1558 to 1603, is often referred to as the golden age by historians where many transitions in English society regarding marriage and gendertook place (Ivic 110). It was a time in which wives were viewed as the property of their husbands (Ivic 110). However, every womanwas expected to marry and be dependent on her husband or male relatives throughout her life (Ivic 98). Conversely, the Victorian era, which lasted from 1837 to 1901 was an era with similar social customs regarding marriage and family relations; however, there were slight ideological shifts in society which allowed for more independent women (Ledbetter 25). The Victorian society placed a greater emphasis on proper attire and etiquette of a woman. The ideal marriage still remained one in which the woman stayed at home, took care of the household and made preparations until her husband came home from work. The difference between the two eras lied in the fact that the Victorian era was an era in which it was more acceptable to value a woman s opinion (Ledbetter 30). Both the Elizabethan and Victorian era held similar beliefs about marriage and family customs, however slight differences regarding social etiquette and increased autonomy for women played an important role in the literature written in both eras. It is notable (From Exhibit 2b in the Responding to Wii case Harvard Business Review) that Nintendo has been successful in keeping positive operating profits despite being a weak competitor during the previous 2 generations. Nintendo has shown prudence in waiting out 2 battles and coming up with a unique offering which has changed the way the market perceives gaming. Sony should concede defeat this generation of gaming, while maintaining balance through strong service to existing market. Sony should target the serious gamers and not react to Wii in terms of re assessing its differentiation strategy. The positioning question While Sony is losing market share in the console market, it is winning the Battle for the living room with Microsoft. With momentum gained from the previous 2 generations and technological superiority of Sony s offering, Microsoft has taken a bigger blow, with almost double the operating loss of Sony. (Sony operating loss of $1246.1 M vs Microsoft $2066 M, from Exhibit 2b in the Responding to Wii case Harvard Business Review). Sony has a broad offering in consumer electronics segment that it can leverage to provide a comprehensive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The And Rogers Park Community Throughout the Edgewater and Rogers Park community, my focus was on the physical health and well being of the members of the community. The assets identified were doctor s offices, small clinics and clinics that are a part of a larger chain. Each of these assets show the diversity in the medical care offered in the Edgewater and Rogers Parkcommunity. For example, the assets that we found were mostly privately owned and the clinics that are part of a larger chain such as the clinics in Walgreens or CVS, were small and run by only a few people. There weren t any assets that were part of a large medical institution such as Advocate or Nova health. There was only one hospitalwhich is Methodist Hospital which is one of the largest assets we found. This illustrates how in the Edgewater and Rogers Park community, smaller and more convenient methods of receiving healthcare is emphasized more than larger scale hospitals. The asset that I researched and interviewed was Physicians Immediate Care on 6140 North Broadway in Edgewater Chicago. This is a small clinic which is actually part of a larger chain of clinics that are located in Nebraska, Indiana, and Illinois. This particular clinic was run by the PhysicianAssistant. I learned through the interview that the Physician Assistant can perform many of the tasks that a Doctor could, however, they must practice under a Doctor s license. The Physician Assistant I interviewed said that a Doctor will periodically come during the week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Elie Wiesel s Night Night Essay January 30, 1933 the Holocaust began,This was the birth of one of the worst horrors in war history, The Holocaust was the transportation of many people of all races, to the ghettos, then being transported to a concentration camp to where nearly 11 million people died in the span of 12 years . Many stories have been displayed of the apathetic, brutality of living in conditions of the concentration camps, but one particular story stands on how exactly it was to live in. Night by Elie Wiesel; this is his story. Wiesel was transported from Sighet to Auschwitz, a concentration camp for a year; he was 15 years old when he arrived. They left them to starve with little food, to work in all terrible, deplorable, uncouth conditions all for them to feel and to be treated like vile animals. Prisoners even acted like animals fighting for food, water and clothing anything to get them to live one more day. A lack of compassion for others can not change what they saw in the concentration camp bela katz son of a big tradesman from our town had arrived at Birkenau with the first transport, a week before us. When heard of our arrival, he managed to get word to us that, having been chosen for his strength, he had himself put his father s own body into the crematoria oven (Wiesel 33) Having to put his own father into his own death bed is a harrowing experience and not being able to protest at the fear of his own death is an irrefutable memory that will never be forgotten. The nazis and their unvarnished mistreatment, ciless hostility that showed no compassion for the prisoners then came the march past the victims two men were no longer alive .their tongues were hanging out swollen and bluish . but the third rope was still moving; the child too light was still breathing ..... • 47. The Purpose Of The Marshmallow Experiment The Marshmallow Experiment was pioneered in the 1960s at the Stanford University daycare. It introduces a connection between success in the future of young children by their ability to delay gratification. This study has been operating for more than forty years and still more studies are being added to test different variables such as studying an individual s emotional impulses and studying the effects of changing the reliability of a child s environment during the marshmallow experiment. When these variables are taken into account the result drastically changed. There have also been follow up studies on the first participants with findings that explain the results of having low and high delayed gratification. The purpose of the Marshmallow Experiment is to test how long a young child, typically in the range of 3 5 years old for the experiment, could wait before giving into temptation. First, the children were given one given a marshmallow by a researcher of the study, they were instructed to wait to eat the marshmallow until the researcher came back. If they waited for a total of 15 minutes the researcher would return with a second marshmallow. 2 out of 3 of the kids gave into temptation. While, 1 out of 3 kids had enough willpower to distract themselves so that they could receive the second treat. Several years later, researchers remained in contact with these subjects and found that the high delayers, as they were referred to in Mia Szalavitz s article, The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
