Environmental Issues Of Environmental Justice
Environmental justice is a term coined in the United States that usually deals with two different
things. One is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color,
national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of
environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The other is a mixed body of social science
literature pertaining to anything from environmental laws to political ecology. Primarily based
around the concept of injustices carried out by energy companies, environmental injustice is still a
rampant problem in todays wide variety of social justiceissues. While the prior two meanings
mentioned are the main ones, some other definitions include equitable... Show more content on

These are seen as environmental discrimination because the companies are placing possibly toxic
facilities in these specific areas where the residents do not often have the means to fight back
against them.
Due to the results of that study, waste dumps and waste incinerators have been the target of
environmental justice lawsuits and protests. Several of the most popular Environmental Justice
lawsuits are based off of violations of civil rights laws. The first instance to use civil rights as a
way to challenge the placement of a waste management facility was in 1979.
The Northeast Community Action Group, or NECAG, was created by African American residents
in a middle class neighborhood in order to keep a landfill out of their home town. This group is
recognized as the first organization that found the connection between race and pollution. The
group, alongside their attorney Linda McKeever Bullard started the lawsuit Bean v. Southwestern
Waste Management, Inc., which was the first of its kind to challenge the sitting of a waste facility
under civil rights law. The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was used
many times to defend minority rights during the 1960s, has also been used in numerous
Environmental Justice cases.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is sometimes used in lawsuits that are fighting
environmental inequality. Section 601 prohibits

Relief Of All Of The Special Needs
Need for the Study
If this research is never conducted, ensuring the evacuation of all of the special needs
individuals who need assistance will turn out to be a disaster in itself. If there is not a proper
location for these individuals to go to, this will lead to loss of life or hospitalization for some,
and mass chaos for others. There is a possibility that there are more people with special needs
than available space or transportation. There is also a possibility that even if there is available
space or transportation, that those with medical needs may not be able to be cared for in the
facility provided. In order to find out if this is the case in Santa Rosa County, the Emergency
Management Department needs to find out how many people need assistance.
In order to complete this research, Santa Rosa County Emergency Department needs to provide a
way to communicate with the special needs populace. To start off with, the method chosen will
be a questionnaire. This will consist of face to face interaction with the parents/caretakers of the
special needs individuals that are chosen by a non probability sample. According to van Thiel, a
sample is a selection from the total population of possible units of study (van Thiel, pg. 46).
Within the non probability sample, a purposeful approach will be utilized. Doing so, the people
chose will only be from the special needs populace.
The people conducting the questionnaire s will need to have specialized training

African Ferican Vs African Americans
We fought for our rights to become one as an individual, to have freedom and liberty as the next
race. We ve been ridiculed because of the color of our skin and disrespected by the rude
derogatory names. We fought for the right to be labeled and called an African American instead of
nigger, Negro, and color people, amongst other things. It was thought to be a respectable term but is
now raising feuds amongst African Americans who have different tones of black and brown on
their skin. An African Americanhas totally different morals and cultural beliefs than an African
who was born and raised in the countries of Africa. They have a different way of living, a
different government and law, and different struggles. A shared complexion does not equal a
shared culture, nor does it automatically lead to friendships, says Kofi Glover, a native of Ghana
and a political science professor at the University of South Florida. Whether we like it or not,
Africans and African Americans have two different and very distinct cultures. (TRACIE
REDDICK) African Americans aren t always accepting to their own people when they come from
a different country to America. Sometimes they make fun of them because they re not the same, or
a little darker skin complexion, their accent, and also the way they dress and carry themselves. You
can never just put any person of a certain raceinto a category because you never know the history
of their people. Some people are mixed in

What Is Tarantino s Pulp Fiction
Tarantino s Pulp Fiction is a fusion of Alfred Hitchcock and Jean Luc Godard because he creates a
style different from conventional movies of the 1980s. Godard and Hitchcock are known for their
outlandish, but revolutionary plays on storytelling. Tarantino does not abide by any rules in his film.
The film has three different stories that are intertwined to create one film. Tarantino borrows this
technique from Hitchcock. Bates Motel displays the story of Marion dies in the first 40 minutes ,
Norman Bates, and Marion s sister and husband. Somehow, both filmmakers are able to make
things work that most filmmakers would fail at. The use of episodic like films is prevalent in
Hitchcock s film who originally worked on television shows. The curiosity

Manufacturing. The manufacturing process is labor intensive. The manufacturing process is
relatively simple, and firms source their apparel from Asia, which has low wages.
Marketing. Because of the large number of suppliers selling similar products, apparel retail firms
must stimulate demand with attractive store layouts, colorful product offerings, and various sales
promotions.
Investing and Financing. Firms must finance inventory, usually with a combination of supplier and
bank financing. The risk of inventory obsolescence is somewhat high if the product offerings in a
particular season do not sell. Firms tend to rent retail space in shopping malls, so they need to
engage in extensive long term borrowing.
4. Identification of Commodity Businesses.
Dell. Dell s products computers, servers and printers are commodities. Dell tends not to develop the
technologies underlying these products. Instead, it purchases the components from firms that
develop the technologies (semiconductors and computer software). Dell s direct to customer
marketing strategy is not unique, but the extent to which Dell performs this strategy better than
anyone else in the industry gives it a competitive advantage. Its size, purchasing power, quality
control, and efficiency permit it to operate as a low cost provider.

Essay On Wan Technologies
As the world progresses technology everyday, the reliance on the Internet and its uses become
more and more necessary. Many people connect to hundreds of applications and devices they use
every single day. Behind these applications are extremely complex networks that allow users to
connect in ways that expand every single day. To achieve this, companies must design their
networks for secure access and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end
these companies must also have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and
any other remote resource to access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This can be
accomplished through a variety of WAN technologies that are used in the world today.

With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted bandwidth they
purchased. Since these loops are shared between many users the cost is reduced. Frame Relay
provides a better alternative because it only requires a single point of access. From that point of
access the Frame Relay allows the sites to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also
much simpler to configure which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were
simpler to establish because Customer Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and
linked to the ISPs Frame relay switch. This allowed end user configuration management to be
simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings, Frame relay is also more reliable and
provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay provides greater flexibility
versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As communication is desired between
locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is formed. In this process each end point connection
uses a Data Link Connection Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point. Data
sent through the relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated
through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is then sent to the
physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address field that includes the DLCI
and checksum to show where the packet needs to go. Another alternative to a

The Consequences Of The True Self In The Scarlet Letter By...
Do you act differently around certain people? Are your actions different because you want to
impress a girl, the popular kids, or your teacher you want a letter of recommendation from? All
around the world, people try to disguise their true self, just so they can fit in and be someone they
are not. In The Scarlet Letter, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale had been living behind a mask for
seven excruciating years, as he remained unwilling to face the repercussions of society for his
adulterous affair with Hester Prynne. If Dimmesdale was his honest and true self, he would have
escaped death. While the epic is exaggerated through paranormal and supernatural occurrences,
many of the punishments inflicted and morals questioned are quite topical today. Nathaniel
Hawthorneencourages the readers to show freely to the world , no matter how daunting that
personality may be (410). Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale s downfall affirms the damaging effects of
falsifying one s disposition in The Scarlet Letter and today s society.
Hawthorne is right when he says that facades are abominable. While returning from his forest
meeting with Hester Prynne, Dimmesdale begins to self reflect as he walks back, prompting the
narrator to say, No man for any considerable period can wear one face to himself and another to the
multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true (Hawthorne 340).

Rihanna s Disturbia
In a world where vapid bubble gum pop songs garner the most Youtube hits, radio requests, and
overall attention from today s youth, it is shocking to think that a pop music icon could release
such a thought provoking song. Contrary to the quintessential 21st century radio hits, Rihanna s
2008 single entitled Disturbia challenges listeners to look beyond captivating beats and an
irrefutably alluring hook. Beneath the rhythmically appealing instrumentals lies a series of
ominous lyrics that would assuredly frighten the listeners if they comprehended these lines on a
deeper level. The speaker explores themes of mental illness and Hollywood infamy and employs
a desperate tone that begs the listener for assistance. The title itself instills a simultaneous feeling
of familiarity and enigma in the listener. Familiarity is present as the root word disturb is easily
identifiable, but the title also elicits feelings of confusion because Disturbia is not an actual word
in the English language. The ia ending suggests that it may be a place inhabited by mentally
disturbed people. The song begins with a repetitive cadence of alliterative vocals. This pattern is
dull and indicative of an endless... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker desperately states If you can t go go go/I think I m gonna oh oh oh which leaves
both the speaker and the listener in a place of unrest. Does the speaker submit to this oppressive
force? Will he/she continue to combat it? Is the speaker attacked by the force before he/she can
finish the sentence? Regardless of the song s resolution, Disturbia is unique in its attempt to
intertwine dark and complex lyrics within a contemporary sound. The song, like many others in its
genre, has amassed widespread success due to its memorable beats. However its lyrics also deserve
notoriety; they suggest that some modern pop songs contain underlying themes despite their radio

Traditional Method Of Genomic Selection
Genomic selection Traditional method of genetic improvement of livestock using information on
phenotypes and pedigrees to predict breeding values has been very successful, however,
breeding values could be predict more accurately by using information on variation in DNA
sequence between animals. Research on marker assisted selection (MAS) is very extensive but
has limited implementation and increases in genetic gain is small (Dekkers, 2004). Goddard and
Hayes (2002) showed that the factors governing the additional gains from MAS are the accuracy
of the existing estimated breeding values (EBV). If at all, the accuracy is high, there will be little
gain. However, where traditional selection is most difficult, e.g. traits displayed only in... Show

Using simulation, they showed that the breeding value could be predicted with an accuracy of 0.85
from marker data alone. The major limitation to the implementation of genomic selection has been
the large number of markers required and the cost of genotyping these markers (Grapes et al. 2004).
Recently both these limitations have been overcome in most livestock species following the
sequencing of the livestock genomes, the subsequent availability of hundreds of thousands of single
nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). As a result of these developments there are many livestock
breeding companies planning to implement genomic selection in the near future (Grapes et al.
2004). Statistical analysis to calculate EBV from genome wide DNA markers it is convenient to
think of the process in three steps:
i.Use the markers to deduce the genotype of each animal at each QTL. ii. Estimate the effects of
each QTL genotype on the trait. iii. Sum all the QTL effects for selection candidates to obtain their
genomic EBV (GEBV).
As the markers are unlikely to be evenly spaced, and due to the variable nature of the LD, we
could still not expect that all QTL would have an SNP in complete LD with them. This suggests
that we need denser markers than are currently available. The technology to achieve this is
available (Parks et al. 2007). An additional problem arises if we wish to estimate the effect of each
marker across more than

One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula

Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram
Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger.
Uniquely, in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were
asleep, and their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story
so far in Dracula, because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when
people are sleeping. Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big
emphasis on sleeping throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person
in their most vulnerable state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

chance go to sleep in any other part of the castle (34 35). From the start, Stroker tells Johnathan

unnerving feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be
wise for Harker to heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and
he found himself in grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the
same room he fell asleep in. However, Dracula stepped in and saved Harker, but I found out exactly

Ethical Behavior in Law Enforcement, Checks and Balances
Introduction
For the past few years, law enforcement in this country has dominated the news. Unfortunately, this
has been mostly in a negative light (e.g., Ferguson, Missouri; Black Lives Matter; etc...). The
purpose of this analysis is not to litigate those issues, rather to address how the police enforce
ethical behavior within their ranks and how the rights of the police are protected. The focus on this
case study analysis will be on a local law enforcement agency. That agency is the Brevard County

Mrs Mallard In The Story Of An Hour
In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, She creates the character of Mrs. Mallard as an
unusual, fragile lady to create a story of hardships and lack of freedom. Mrs. Mallard faced
constraint with her husband, but when she heard the news of her husband s death she, at first,
felt a sense of remorse and sadness then a feeling of freedom. A reader may view Mrs. Mallard as
insensitive for not feeling the loss of her husband, but the full context of the story is not given.
Chopin uses the character, Mrs. Mallard, to display the relief of personal burden and freedom.

Mallard may seem like an interesting character. A reader may have a difficult time deciding
whether or not her reaction to her husband s death is genuine. Mrs. Mallard is a protagonist who
needs to be the center of attention. In the beginning of the story it is stated that Mr. Mallard has
a heart condition, which causes Richard and Josephine to be utterly cautious to break the news
of her husband s death. They treat her as if her heart will be broken when told the news. Her two
white slender hands show us that Mrs. Mallard weak and does not do manual labor (Chopin
307). Her slender hands elaborates on her wanting and needing attention. Even though Mrs.
Mallard has a heart condition, she is still able to do work, but puts up an act in order to receive
more attention. The narrator then goes on to describe be her physical look. Mrs. Mallard is
young, with a fair, calm face, whose lines bespoke repression and even a certain strength
(Chopin 307). Mrs. Mallard is pretty, but the lines on her head that she is masking many issues

Enlightenment Attitudes Towards Religion Essay
Enlightenment Attitudes Towards Religion
Scientific and philosophical innovations during the 18th century brought about a new breed of
thinkers. Their driving forces of rational and reason shifted the religious temperament of the elite
from enthusiasts to intellectuals. They argued that there was no divine standard of morality, no
afterlife to divert humanity from worldly concerns (The Western Experience, pg. 657). They were
radicals who sought to displace the authority of religion. Driven by reason, enlightenment thinkers
naturally opposed superstition and attempted to replace religious mysticism with philosophical
standards and scientific formulations. Their shift of focus highlighted reverence for the Creator and

660). Dennis Diderot echoes this sentiment in his encyclopedic definition of the term irreligious
stating that morality is the universal law that the finger of God has engraved on all our hearts,
and that consequently we should not confuse immortality and irreligion. Mortality can exist
without religion; and religion, perhaps, even exits frequently with immortality (Course Pak,
Chapter 2, pg. 157). Further Diderot sites the Fathers of a council of Toledo in his definition of
intolerance where they state do no violence of any kind to people in order to lead them back to
faith, for God is merciful or severe to whomever he chooses (Course Pak, Chapter 2, pg. 156). By
siting the fathers, Diderot masterfully escapes censorship while fighting the churches belligerence
with its own words. Catholic Habsurg emperor Joseph II championed the philosophy of tolerance
in 1781 in the Edict of Toleration. The Edict granted Jews and Catholics the same religious and
civil rights, this was the first time such an act was condoned by a Catholic Habsburg ruler. In
addition it also tried to limit the power of the Catholic Church by ordering the dissolution of
numerous monasteries which were useless and corrupt. (The Western Experience, pg. 660). While
tolerance proved to be an important concept of the enlightenment, deism was indeed the primary
religious doctrine. Voltaire, one of the Enlightenment s most prolific writers was an

Jamie Bulgers Tackling Youth Justice System
Literature Review:
The concept of childhood suffered a dramatic change, following the murder of two year old Jamie
Bulger in 1993 committed by Robert Thompson and Jon Venables two ten year old boys. This
event is arguably the major turning point regarding the approach towards youth crime and youth
justice within England and Wales. (Barry, 2006).
This change began in 1996 when the Labour party released their Tackling Youth Crime, Reforming
Youth Justice paper which assessed the Youth Justice System and heavily criticised the lack of
community based interventions for youths who had offended, or may be at risk of doing so.

Von Willebrand Disease ( Vwd )
Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is a genetic disorder that will occur when an individual has
limiting amounts of the von Willebrand factor (VWF) or they have abnormal forms of it. This
disease can also be associated with having low plasma levels. It is one of the world s most
common bleeding disorders. It is so common, that it can be found all over the world, it is known
to affect 1% of the world s population. VWD is also a very unique disorder because it can affect
various animal species like dogs and pigs. is known as one of the most common bleeding

This is a silent disease because many people don t even know they have it. But, when someone
who is suffering from VWD starts bleeding, they will undergo severe bleeding. Just because an
individual might not present with symptoms, doesn t mean they won t suffer from the severe
bleeding consequences. This lack of knowledge is due to the fact that the symptoms of VMD

Burqa In Australia
To begin with, Australian citizens should be better educated in the different ethnical backgrounds
they are surrounded by. As Australia is such a multicultural country, everywhere you turn there is
someone from a different background whether it be English, Asian, American or even Middle

understanding and tolerance. In previous years, Pauline Hanson, from the One Nation political
party, renewed her push made in earlier years to ban the burqa in Australian office and business.

Tiananmen Square Protest
The most well known and severe conflict during Modern times in China would be the Tiananmen

neither a civil war (the war between government and citizens) nor coup d Г©tat (the sudden seizure

government s autocratic treatment. Back in 1989, the problem of hyperinflation, which was caused

the outbreak of protests. The flashpoint of the protest is the sudden death of a rightwing leader, Hu

The Way Wordsworth and Heaney Present Nature and Rural Life in Their Poetry
Born 1770, in Cockermouth, William Wordsworth spent his early life and many of his formative
years attending a boys school in Hawkshead, a village in the Lake District. As can be seen in his
poetry, the years he spent living in these rural surroundings provided many of the valuable
experiences Wordsworth had as he grew up.
At the age of 17, Wordsworth moved south to study at Saint John s College, University of
Cambridge. Later, in 1790, two years after the French Revolution had begun; he took a walking tour
through France and Switzerland on vacation. France obviously captivated Wordsworth s attention,

Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He
considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses
the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form.
Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is
shown clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source
of wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and
imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely
describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to
consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on
that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment.
The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I
wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills. Wordsworth uses this simile to
compare himself to a cloud, which has many implications concerning how Wordsworth was feeling
that day. The word, lonely suggests that he felt isolated or simply free and

Ketchup On A Hotdog Research Paper
As a Chicago native, I know never to put ketchup on my hotdogs. Whether I was at a backyard

Whenever I make these excursions, the question always arises in my head, why do people desire
having so much of something? It seems like it is in the blood of Americans to want to be great
and have a large quantity of something. It isn t necessarily a superiority complex, but it very
much seems like the definition of the stereotypical American dream to be able to say that I

Occurrence of fibroids is heavily dependent on estrogen and progesterone. Fibroids, therefore, are
more common in women of reproductive years. Fibroids are known to shrink after menopause.
Some causes include obesity and high blood pressure. Research has also shown that women with a
family history of uterine fibroids are more likely to develop the condition. African American women
are more prone to developing tumors than their Caucasian counterparts. Some surveys in the United
States have indicated that lower intake of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus have caused
occurrence of fibroids in the uterus.
Fibroids are known to have more estrogen and estrogen receptors than the normal muscle cells. Fat
cells in the stomach region are known to produce estrogen which is a risk factor. Therefore, it pays
to control weight, especially abdominal fat. The visceral fat or the fat that surrounds internal organs
is more dangerous than the fat just below the skin. There are also some compounds thought to

North Korea s Six-Party Talks
We cannot ignore [the North Koreans], because they will not us ignore them said Stephen
Bosworth, U.S. Ambassador to South Korea from 1997 to 2000 (Perle et al., n.d.). He is referring to
the ongoing efforts of the North Koreans developing their nuclear program and their attempts to
getting what they want, be it money, food, resources, etc. (Chanlett Avery, Rinehart, Nikitin, 2016).
With approximately six to eight nuclear weapons and the fact that it did not sign a Nuclear Non
Proliferation treaty, without a doubt, North Koreais a significant threat to both the United States and

In fact, the 1994 Agreed Framework, signed on October 21, 1994, was agreement for North Korea
to freeze and replace its nuclear proliferation program with light water reactors, which provide
nuclear power. In addition, the agreement urged both the United States and North Korea to work
towards more diplomatic relations. Also, North Korea was expected to accept the Nuclear Non
Proliferation Treaty, which included visits from the International Atomic Energy Agency to ensure
compliance. While not a perfectly stable contract, the agreement effectively froze North Korea s
nuclear proliferation program and thus prevented the production of many nuclear weapons.
Partially as a result of the Agreed Framework, North Korea does not have as many nuclear
weapons as more developed countries as the North Koreans were not able to develop their nuclear
program during the eight years of the Agreed Framework. Surprisingly, it was the United States
who suspended its obligations under the agreement when it found out that North Korea was
developing a centrifuge program. The centrifuge program technically did not violate the Agreed
Framework, however, it alarmed the United States, enough so that it suspended the Agreed
Framework. The significance of the Agreed Framework is simply the idea that North Korea can be

Colombia And The Colombian Armed Conflict
Introduction
Colombia is facing an internal armed conflict for more than six decades. The causes for the
Colombian armed conflict can be more than one which include the conflict over land ownership,
the existence of marked economic differences, the pursuit of civilians because of their political
orientation. It also highlights the persistence of guerrillas with communist orientation and the
existence of drug traffickers that have involved their corruption to all levels of the Colombian
sociaty. The narco guerrillas and drug traffickers have given the idea to make a lot of money easy
and fast. So culturally in Colombia many people believe in this concept for that reason there is a
lot of corruption in Colombia, people porsuit this idea. The corruption in Colombia is much seen in
the misuse or abuse of public power for private or personal gains, meaning that this phenomenon is
not limited to civil servants, it is also defined as the set of attitudes and activities through which a
person violates commitments made himself, using the privileges granted, those agreements made
with the aim of obtaining a extra benefits. Usually there are bandits looking for weak people, who

Like Hedda, Thea has entered a loveless marriage, a marriage of convenience. Both are
dissatisfied by their husband s inability to fulfil their emotional and intellectual needs. However,
Thea asserts her individuality, renounces a distasteful marriage, and gains freedom. Unlike
Hedda, she has no fear of gossip and scandal: I have done nothing, but what I had to do, Thea is
unrepentant about leaving her husband, disregarding social norms to seek fulfilment. In doing
so she finds intellectual fulfilment within a metaphorical marriage with Lovborg, creating a

that the act of destroying the book was similar to child murder as it took away the absolute joy

tend to develop when they have their own children. In contrast, Hedda s impending pregnancy
saddens her because a child will tie her down and therefore she seeks to strip Thea of her
fulfilment by burning Thea and Lovborg s child similar to her desire to burn Thea s hair. The
usage of the verb, burn shows Hedda s destructive and vicious nature towards Thea who has found

Expression Dance
The Expression of Dance
Cultures use a variety non verbal communication, some put more emphasis on specific channels,
including facial expressions, body language, vocal tone, and eye contact. However, there is one
medium that is repeatedly shown high significance, dance. Although they way people move their
bodies to rhythm vary, the feelings that seem to be communicated are similar if not the same. Some
popular messages include love, intimacy, sexual attraction, companionship, and even sympathy.
Some of the simplest ways to observe subliminal messages is by identifying interactions between
dancing partners, clothing choices, and dancing style. Dance is the hidden language of the soul.
Martha Graham
What is the significance of the interaction between dance partners? In it s most simplest form,
dance is purely an announcement that meet other people. Described in Interplay, this is called
initiating the opening stage of all relations, not just romantic ones. Friendships start here, and so
do business partnerships. (Adler, Ronald B) In other words, when you ask someone to dance, it
opens the possibility of a new friendship and possibly a connection to other people and more
relationships. A study of adolescents in schools put it another way. Shared social or physical
activities can systematically affect the emergence of ties between individuals in a social network.
(Zander, Lysann) It also suggests that meeting people through dance reaches on a deeper level.

Chuck Berry An Eccentric, African American Rock N ...
In the winter of 1957, Chuck Berry an eccentric, African American rock n roller from St. Louis
recorded one of his most popular and influential songs: Johnny B. Goode (Taylor 27). During a
time when Jim Crow laws still had a place in American life and active racism towards African
Americans and minorities was commonplace, Chuck Berry s hit Johnny B. Goodebecame popular
amongst a white audience, and it reached the number eight position on the Billboard List in
1958 (Cooper 301). The rollicking song told a rags to riches story of a country boy named
Johnny B. Goode who could play the guitar just like a ringin a bell (Starr and Waterman 259).
The character Johnny B. Goode was not a one song wonder his tale was continued in two
additional Berry hits: Bye Bye Johnny (1960) and Go Go Go (1961) (Taylor 28 29). The saga of
Johnny B. Goode was greatly shaped by the times during which it was popularized in, and it
influenced the times as well. The timeless hit was successful and influential for various reasons: the
emergence and popularity of rock n roll in the 1950s, the catchy lyrics and instrumentation used in
the song, the genius of Chuck Berry himself, and racial tensions in the United States and the way
they impacted, and were impacted by, music. In order to understand the significance and impact of
the song, all of these factors must be explored.

Ticket Prices On The Sports Industry
Ticket Prices in the Sports Industry Why are tickets to sporting events so expensive? Ticket
resale has been a concern to people who determine ticket price as well as the fans. If tickets are
too expensive to begin with, then there will be a lot of unsold tickets. If tickets are very cheap,
they will be purchased from the primary market quickly, and then sold on the secondary market at
an increased price. Owners of sports teams and the league should allow the market to control ticket
prices. Ticket prices are based off the demand of the game, team, and league which has resulted in
ticketsbeing sold at market value rather than face value. Ticket prices vary across the leagues as
well as pricingstrategies. Teams should continue to profit maximize by charging various amounts
for tickets in order to charge the closest amount to first degree price discrimination.
TICKET PRICE
Prices for a good or service is determined by supply and demand. For tickets to sporting events,
there are a set number of tickets which means the quantity is limited and set long before the season
starts. The supply curve is perfectly inelastic at the stadium s capacity. This means that the
marginal cost is close to zero until the stadium s capacity is reached. Depending on where this
quantity lies relative to the demand curve determines whether the team will decide to sell out or
have empty seats. If the team maximizes profits by not selling out, then the team will decide to
have empty

Elasticity In The Miller s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
Henri Bergson s theory states that tension and elasticity are required in social life to adapt to the
ever changing situations. Someone who is severely deficient in elasticity and tension will be
denied access to society either by isolation or hospitalization. For someone that is slightly
deficient or has a minor slip in elasticity or tension, the penalty will be laughter. According to
Henri Bergson, the perception of mechanical inelasticity engenders laughter and is the basis of
the comic. This inelasticity is clearly demonstrated in The Miller s tale by Geoffrey Chaucer with
John and Absalon being the main targets of the ridicule, Nicholas becomes a target towards the
end of the tale. Chaucer s characterization of those personages attitudes and behavior support
Bergson s theory of mechanical inelasticity. First of all, John the carpenter, during the whole story,
is a victim of the ridicule. He is so well played by Nicholas, who has a gift for telling people what
they want to hear and manipulate them, that John will do everything that Nicholas asks of him.

so that he can burn her with the dagger. Nicholas who thinks he can ridicule Absalon even more
by doing the same thing gets burned by him. Nicholas for the first time lacks awareness and fails
to adapt and is therefore rigid. Because of this, he is now the victim of the ridicule. Absalon

Internal Conflict In Hamlet Essay
The definition of conflict is the opposition of persons or forces that gives rise to the dramatic

the play. Shakespeare s Hamlet is full of events leading to conflict and drama. This conflict

The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks Essay
In a world in which abortion is considered either a woman s right or a sin against God, the poem
The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks gives a voice to a mother lamenting her aborted children
through three stanzas in which a warning is given to mothers, an admission of guilt is made, and
an apology to the dead is given. The poet speaker, the mother, as part of her memory addresses the
children that she got that [she] did not get (2). The shift in voice from stanzato stanza allows Brooks
to capture the grief associated with an abortionby not condemning her actions, nor excusing them;
she merely grieves for what might have been. The narrator s longing and regret over the children
she will never have is highlighted by the change in tone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is possible that the narrator is trying to reassure herself in this passage by claiming that the child
was never made, but then why write the poem to her unborn children?
Directly addressing the aborted children, the mother is able to relate her experience to other
women who may be contemplating abortion; perhaps the narrator is trying to warn other mothers
with tone and diction: You will remember the children you got that you did not get, The damp
small pulps with a little or with no hair, The singers and workers that never handled the air. You
will never neglect or beat Them, or silence or buy with a sweet. You will never wind up the
sucking thumb Or scuttle off ghosts that come. You will never leave them, controlling your
luscious sigh, Return for a snack of them, with gobbling mother eye. (2 10)
The word remember in line two may be considered a play on words; re member, or
dismemberment as in the case of an abortion. Damp small pulps in line three sounds animalistic, as
if Brooks is saying pups instead of pulps. If the word pulp was in fact intended, it is then part of the
poem s imagery, indicating something that is crushed,

Langston Hughes published The Weary Blues in 1926 when he was twenty four, and the poem
depicts his life in his own unique perspective as a struggling black man. ( Langston Hughes 2 of 3).
In the poem Hughes creates a speaker who is spending a night out and listens to a black man
singing the blues. In one stanza, he illustrates a scene in which the African Americansinger
expresses pride in his heritage, strength, soul, and the depth to which his emotions and spirituality
reach. The imagery in the poem paints a very gloomy and melancholy atmosphere. Even rhyme

The use of imagery is very strong throughout this poem. Words like mellow, pale, drowsy,
melancholy, and dull, suggest to the reader that the atmosphere surrounding the speaker is dark
and gloomy. Even lights in the street is not sufficient to brighten the surroundings, being that the
only source of light stated is the pale dull pallor of an old gas light. The haziness of this light
with darkness of the night, evokes a sense of sluggishness in the atmosphere. The singer speaks
of his struggles and opinions, and it is reflected in the third stanza: With his ebony hands on each
ivory key (Hughes line 9). In the singer s era, the impression of black and white coming together
to form harmony would be unlikely, but he has reached this goal by creating the melodic tune that
comes out of the piano. Since he was in a time where class distinctions with African Americans
were quite rigid, and he was a busboy, struggling with his emotions, his past incidents inspired and

Write A Rhetorical Analysis On Rhinos
Lines are the predominate feature in this painting, as all of the animals have lines to focus on their
shape and even have overlapping lines. I see curved lines mostly that gives more likeness to what
the actual animals shape must have been. All the animals look soft in the features as there are no
rough or jagged lines given to them. Even the horns on the rhinos is quite smooth looking. There
also happens to be horizontal lines on the rhinos legs, giving to the sharpness mainly to the hooves.
This paintingis mainly monochromatic, no colors given besides the natural background of the
limestone, there is some red on the bottom left of the painting. It looks as if was blown onto the
wall with one of their tools but that is the only spot it

Adaptation Of Lady Macbeth
In his Macbeth adaptation (1971) Roman Polanski s makes various intriguing and meaningful
decisions to underscore the subjects of aspiration, culpability, and the corruption related to
supremacy. From his unprecedented position, the most fascinating decision was the choice to give
Francesca Annis the role of Lady Macbeth. Customarily, Lady Macbethis a more established figure
in the story, and her control over Macbeth is that of a solid willed spouse. Be that as it may, by
making a 26 year old physically alluring woman perform Lady Macbeth, Polanski is able to affect
Lady Macbeth and her maneuvers with an extra layer of enticement. This can be analytical, in light
of the fact that while the underlying motivation for Macbeth s conquest is surely given by the...

His aspiration is mainly to satisfy her and fulfill his maximum capacity in her eyes. Besides, in this
renowned, Out, damned spot sleepwalking scene where Lady Macbeth can not clean her hands
from nonexistent blood, Polanski has Francesca Annis play the scene completely naked. This gives
weakness and impotence to Lady Macbeth, a truly appalling sight given the past manifestations of
her mettle. Here, we see this solid, attractive woman lose countenance before our eyes, and our
sentiments for her turn to pity.
Her nakedness, effectively represents the stripping away of her act. Obviously, her prayers to
the spirits were not fulfilled, as she is troubled by sentiments of regret. The scene is brimming
with incongruity as she has experienced a complete inversion of her previous, false self. Rather
than longing for darkness, she now has light by her continually . While she derided at Macbeth s
terror of the blood he had on his hands, saying a little water was all that was required, she is
presently compulsively cleaning her hands, visualizing they are deeply embedded with blood: here

A Simple Barcoding System Has Changed Inventory Management...
Introduction Throughout history, a simple barcoding system has changed inventory management
forever. As the United States Postal Service required barcoding to make the mail sorting process
more efficient, grocery stores had a huge need to manage the quantities of thousands of items. As
inventory management evolved, the barcoding spread throughout supply chain management aiding
in less waste, storage costs, process tracking throughout the manufacturing processes, and helped
improve customer satisfaction. This short paper will go over how businesses have used barcoding,
the history of barcoding and some of the newer technologies like Radio Frequency Identification
and Global Positioning Systems.

For the purpose of this paper, it will steer away from most of the historical facts and stick with
how they tracked letters and packages. ( The history of the United States Postal Service, n.d.) After
a drastic increased demand for the postal services, the Post Office was looking towards
technologies to help it automate processes with postal sorters, address readers and an advanced
coding system for the times. By the 1970 s, the gained confidence in the service, demands
increased even more. Again the USPS had to reach out to the latest and greatest technologies. It
was early in the 1980 s when the USPS first purchased and used its first computer driven, single
line Optical Character Reader (OCR) which converted all of the data into a barcode. This became a
huge money saver as forward post offices only had to have a less expensive barcode sorting system.
( The history of the United States Postal Service, n.d.) As technology aided in the efficiencies of
the scanning processes, the USPS started giving discounts to letters and packages that were pre
barcoded. Having the letters pre barcoded allowed for faster scanning, less manpower, and allowed
the letters to bypass the OCR scanners. By the year 2000, 59% of all letters were pre barcoded, a
drastic increase of only 7% being pre barcoded in 1990. By 2004, as technologies continued to
improve and were able to now process 9,500

Americanisation in Australia Essays
Last time I checked the name of our country was not Ausmerica! So why are we slowly letting
America make us the 51st state of the USA? The American media and imports have caused
Australian culture to become submerged in the generic cosmopolitanism of the US!
Good morning/afternoon Ms Bui and class today I will be speaking to you about the
Americanisation of Australia s language and culture through music, film and television.
The national spread of American media including; TV, film and music has been the cornerstone of
Americanisation in Australia since 1945, the end of world war two. Britain s Farm and America s
Junior Partner : that is what Australia was labelled as, around the end World War II. Prior to WWII

And when was the last time you heard about Delta? The latest of the two I do believe was Chris
brown and when you think about it delta has not been in the news or magazines or anything for a
while now.
This leads me to products and how product placement is also americanising us. I mean we see
famous people drinking Starbucks coffee and junk food from MacDonalds and burger king on
TV so we want to drink coffee from Starbucks and buy from burger king?well at least we call it
hungry jacks?we changed something. The point is places like MacDonalds, Hungry Jacks, KFC,
and Red Rooster are all imported shops from America even products we thought were owned and
operated and all by Australia aren t I mean take?vegemite for example purely Australian? I don t
think so, it is owned and operated by the Americans even all the ingredients are imported there is
now not one thing that is Australian about vegemite!
Many a time Australia copies America willingly for e.g. how many of us played with Barbies
when we were younger? I m sure not to many of us would have even played with beanie kids
instead. And trick or treating?! It is fast becoming popular here. Seriously how long will it be till
were celebrating thanksgiving and July 4th ??
It is becoming a disgrace; we are already too much like America! Everyone knows everything about
USA! Mention George Washington and we all know he was the first president of the US, but

Professional Objectives Program
Discuss your professional objectives both short and long term. What has motivated you to apply
to this program? My organization Penske Truck Leasing has been experiencing a sharp decline in
the revenue generated from its full service leasing. Results of initial sales analysis concluded that
the inflow of the new customers for full service leasing has been growing steadily; thus to increase
revenue, the focus needs to be on the renewals for the existing customers. The company realizes
that a lack of validated customer loyalty drivers prevents effective focus on customer retention and
thus directly affects profitability. Challenges with data availability and business metrics have made
attempts to measure and diagnose our service delivery and customer experience, both, difficult and
inconclusive. In order to address this challenge, the organization has launched an initiative to build
a customer analytics system that can achieve a single view of customer experience and make
decisions about how best to acquire and retain customers, recognize high value customers and
proactively interact with them. I have been identified as the lead architect for the BI and analytics
team that is going to implement this project. I am also privileged to be associated with an initiative
that is directed towards human resource analytics that analyzes the performance and profitability
that the work force brings to the organization. The aim of this project is to align core workforce

Regret In The Scarlet Ibis
Was there a time that Regret came up because someone either did or said something? Regret leads
to life changing decisions. Many people make mistakes, however there will always be regret and
wish they could do something about.
In The scarlet Ibis by James Hurst, the Narrator feels regret, which leads to how he thinks and
treats people.Think before you do something because later you might end up regretting it. The
Narrator in the story was selfish to his brother Doodle. He cared what people thought of him.
Therefore, when he showed selfishness, led him to feel regret. The Narrator shows how
embarrassed he was that doodle was paralyzed. He regrets treating Doodle that way when he found

Pierce Barham s The Meaning Of The Word Nigger
The N word has been around for a long time. Through slavery, the industrial revolution, both World
War eras, and the modern era all the way up to right now. It has gone from meaning many different
things ranging from burning or charring off, being a black person and exhausting land to a term
that is racist, describes ignorant, uneducated, foolish individuals, to an endearing term between two
people to describe their friendship.
The word Nigger has ranged in popularity in the terms of usage since the beginning of its existence.
White people today are usually not allowed to say the word nigger, but during the days of slavery,
it was popular. They used the term in a demeaning way to insult the black slaves and any other

It is a conflict that will probably not see an end. Race has always been a sensitive subject and the
word nigger had been a big part of past racial tensions.
The word has become a lot since it s creation, from to burn or char to an ignorant, uneducated,
foolish individual Most of us know the word nigger as a swear word, but it used to mean
something completely different than what we know today as a insensitive racial term. anymore.
I believe that the word nigga is fine to say in the context you are referring it to a close friend, but
the word nigger is racist and I don t like anyone using it Jarred s views are similar to other white
and black people s thoughts of the word.
Pierce Barham, a black teen has a bit of a different view on it than Jarred and other black people do.
Pierce states that nigger does not really affect me, because I view it as just a word. It means idiot or
stupid and I know that I m neither one of those. I call my friends nigga and nigger just jokingly, but
most black people would be pissed if I said that to them. He goes on to say that I refer to any
ignorant person as a nigger, regardless of color. I call anyone nigga if they are my friend regardless

Advent Wreath Der Adventskranz Advent Calendar Der Adventskalender The Advent calendar
starts on the Sunday after November 26th. This is the time that is devoted for Christmas
preparations. After four Advent Sundays are over, there follows Christmas Eveand Christmas Day.
The Advent calendar hangs above childrens beds. The calendar has small numbers on the
pictures, numbered 1 24. Wherever the numbers are there are small paper windows, which you
will open to find a picture on a translucent paper. The children open these every morning and then
they know how many days there are left until Christmas. Apart from the Advent calendar, families
have Advent wreaths. These wreaths are made up of holly flowers and bound fir twigs and are
placed on a table with four red candles placed in the center. One of the candles is lit on each
Sunday preceding Christmas, with the last one being on Christmas Eve. No one knows when the
Advent wreath originated in Germany. The Sunday before Advent you will see these wreaths at the

Looking at Hugh Hefner s Portrait from Various Lenses Essays
Cynthia Freeland argued that art communicates significance but there is no one precise
hypothetical approach that tells us how to best interpret a work of art. Although there are better
interpretations of a piece artwork than others, there is no one way to interpret a single piece of art.
The best interpretations understand the background of the artist while also focusing on the style
that the artist uses. The emotions and ideas that come from looking at a piece of art work can
come from the artist s perspective of that of the viewer. When understanding the expressionist
theory we can look to Freeland s definition: expression theory holds that art communicates
something in the realm of feelings and emotions (Freeland, 155). In a broader... Show more content

The different expressions all give the same underlying look of envy. The girl sitting on the
ottoman is glaring at the other girls while the two girls on the bed are engaging in conversation
while showing wariness. The woman on the floor is looking longingly at the camera as if she
wants to say something but you do not know what. Tolstoy s belief of an artist s chief job is to
express and communicate emotions to an audience (Freeland, 155) is conveyed when you initially
look at the Hugh Hefner portrait. Every viewer has their own interpretation, but most would argue
that when you look at this portrait you are able to see different expressions on the five characters
faces impacting the viewer with the same experience that Shay got when photographing this image.
Tolstoy and Freud both understand that art can communicate emotions and feelings, while Tolstoy
believes that art communicates conscious emotions and feelings, Freud believes that art
communicates unconscious emotions and feelings.
Interpretations are very diverse and come from all different areas and when we view Hugh
Hefner, photographed by Art Shay, through Freud s perspective, we are filled with emotions that
are taken from past experiences. Freud believed that when we look at a portrait or another art form,
it ignites unconscious feelings ones the artist [or the viewer] might not even admit to having
(Freeland, 157). When looking at Hugh Hefner in Freud s lenses, the different viewers

The Phantom Tollbooth Analysis

Milo, the main character in The Phantom Tollbooth does this on multiple occasions. One
example of this is when Milo uses his creativity to help the citizens of the Valley of Sound. In the
Valley of Sound, the Soundkeeper stores all of the sounds in her fortress, which means that the
citizens are unable to hear or create any type of noise. Milo is put in charge of obtaining a
sound, and when he finds out that he will be unable to take a sound, he attempts to say
something but stops before the word can leave his lips. This enables him to give the citizens a
weapon to break down the Fortress of Sound in order to regain their sounds. Milo gives the
readers a perfect example of overcoming a challenge by using creativity. Later in the book, King
Azaz the Unabridged and the Mathemagician are in an ongoing feud, each trying to outdo the other
in a battle of ignorance. Milo uses logic to persuade the Mathemagician to allow him to rescue the
princesses Rhyme and Reason, who are able to end the feud between King Azaz and the
Mathemagician. He uses his logic to reach a conclusion that enables the kings to end their feud and
reinstate Rhyme and Reason as the rulers of Wisdom, which shows the readers that logic can
overcome the immense power of ignorance. Many other examples of using creativity and logic to
overcome challenges are given throughout the book, including the escape from the Doldrums and
beating the Demons of Ignorance.

  • 2. Environmental Issues Of Environmental Justice Environmental justice is a term coined in the United States that usually deals with two different things. One is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The other is a mixed body of social science literature pertaining to anything from environmental laws to political ecology. Primarily based around the concept of injustices carried out by energy companies, environmental injustice is still a rampant problem in todays wide variety of social justiceissues. While the prior two meanings mentioned are the main ones, some other definitions include equitable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are seen as environmental discrimination because the companies are placing possibly toxic facilities in these specific areas where the residents do not often have the means to fight back against them. Due to the results of that study, waste dumps and waste incinerators have been the target of environmental justice lawsuits and protests. Several of the most popular Environmental Justice lawsuits are based off of violations of civil rights laws. The first instance to use civil rights as a way to challenge the placement of a waste management facility was in 1979. The Northeast Community Action Group, or NECAG, was created by African American residents in a middle class neighborhood in order to keep a landfill out of their home town. This group is recognized as the first organization that found the connection between race and pollution. The group, alongside their attorney Linda McKeever Bullard started the lawsuit Bean v. Southwestern Waste Management, Inc., which was the first of its kind to challenge the sitting of a waste facility under civil rights law. The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was used many times to defend minority rights during the 1960s, has also been used in numerous Environmental Justice cases. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is sometimes used in lawsuits that are fighting environmental inequality. Section 601 prohibits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Relief Of All Of The Special Needs Need for the Study If this research is never conducted, ensuring the evacuation of all of the special needs individuals who need assistance will turn out to be a disaster in itself. If there is not a proper location for these individuals to go to, this will lead to loss of life or hospitalization for some, and mass chaos for others. There is a possibility that there are more people with special needs than available space or transportation. There is also a possibility that even if there is available space or transportation, that those with medical needs may not be able to be cared for in the facility provided. In order to find out if this is the case in Santa Rosa County, the Emergency Management Department needs to find out how many people need assistance. In order to complete this research, Santa Rosa County Emergency Department needs to provide a way to communicate with the special needs populace. To start off with, the method chosen will be a questionnaire. This will consist of face to face interaction with the parents/caretakers of the special needs individuals that are chosen by a non probability sample. According to van Thiel, a sample is a selection from the total population of possible units of study (van Thiel, pg. 46). Within the non probability sample, a purposeful approach will be utilized. Doing so, the people chose will only be from the special needs populace. The people conducting the questionnaire s will need to have specialized training ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. African Ferican Vs African Americans We fought for our rights to become one as an individual, to have freedom and liberty as the next race. We ve been ridiculed because of the color of our skin and disrespected by the rude derogatory names. We fought for the right to be labeled and called an African American instead of nigger, Negro, and color people, amongst other things. It was thought to be a respectable term but is now raising feuds amongst African Americans who have different tones of black and brown on their skin. An African Americanhas totally different morals and cultural beliefs than an African who was born and raised in the countries of Africa. They have a different way of living, a different government and law, and different struggles. A shared complexion does not equal a shared culture, nor does it automatically lead to friendships, says Kofi Glover, a native of Ghana and a political science professor at the University of South Florida. Whether we like it or not, Africans and African Americans have two different and very distinct cultures. (TRACIE REDDICK) African Americans aren t always accepting to their own people when they come from a different country to America. Sometimes they make fun of them because they re not the same, or a little darker skin complexion, their accent, and also the way they dress and carry themselves. You can never just put any person of a certain raceinto a category because you never know the history of their people. Some people are mixed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Is Tarantino s Pulp Fiction Tarantino s Pulp Fiction is a fusion of Alfred Hitchcock and Jean Luc Godard because he creates a style different from conventional movies of the 1980s. Godard and Hitchcock are known for their outlandish, but revolutionary plays on storytelling. Tarantino does not abide by any rules in his film. The film has three different stories that are intertwined to create one film. Tarantino borrows this technique from Hitchcock. Bates Motel displays the story of Marion dies in the first 40 minutes , Norman Bates, and Marion s sister and husband. Somehow, both filmmakers are able to make things work that most filmmakers would fail at. The use of episodic like films is prevalent in Hitchcock s film who originally worked on television shows. The manufacturing process is relatively simple, and firms source their apparel from Asia, which has low wages. Marketing. Because of the large number of suppliers selling similar products, apparel retail firms must stimulate demand with attractive store layouts, colorful product offerings, and various sales promotions. Investing and Financing. Firms must finance inventory, usually with a combination of supplier and bank financing. The risk of inventory obsolescence is somewhat high if the product offerings in a particular season do not sell. Firms tend to rent retail space in shopping malls, so they need to engage in extensive long term borrowing. 4. Identification of Commodity Businesses. Dell. Dell s products computers, servers and printers are commodities. Dell tends not to develop the technologies underlying these products. Instead, it purchases the components from firms that develop the technologies (semiconductors and computer software). Dell s direct to customer marketing strategy is not unique, but the extent to which Dell performs this strategy better than anyone else in the industry gives it a competitive advantage. Out of 4,600,000 inhabitants there are less than 2,000 followers of Christ that exist within their ranks, making this group of Christians less than 0.05% of the population. With the majority of Kanuri being Orthodox Sunni Muslims, and having a strong belief in their Muslims faith stand to reason why 0 percent are evangelized this is the finding of various studies and information gather about the Kanuri. Whereas, from these studies some information lead to several things that need to be taken into considered in the attempt to convert the Kanuri people to Christianity: 1. The Kanuri are said to be a primitive people. They have very little access to modern technology. They live strictly of what they grow and sell themselves. 2. The literacy rate of Kanuri is very low; Base of on this low rate they are dependent on oratorical communication. Only ten percent of the population can read, because of this disability they learning comes from storytelling in order to pass down traditions and knowledge. 3. • 8. Essay On Wan Technologies As the world progresses technology everyday, the reliance on the Internet and its uses become more and more necessary. Many people connect to hundreds of applications and devices they use every single day. Behind these applications are extremely complex networks that allow users to connect in ways that expand every single day. To achieve this, companies must design their networks for secure access and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end these companies must also have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and any other remote resource to access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This can be accomplished through a variety of WAN technologies that are used in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted bandwidth they purchased. Since these loops are shared between many users the cost is reduced. Frame Relay provides a better alternative because it only requires a single point of access. From that point of access the Frame Relay allows the sites to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also much simpler to configure which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were simpler to establish because Customer Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and linked to the ISPs Frame relay switch. This allowed end user configuration management to be simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings, Frame relay is also more reliable and provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay provides greater flexibility versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As communication is desired between locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is formed. In this process each end point connection uses a Data Link Connection Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point. Data sent through the relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is then sent to the physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address field that includes the DLCI and checksum to show where the packet needs to go. Another alternative to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Consequences Of The True Self In The Scarlet Letter By... Do you act differently around certain people? Are your actions different because you want to impress a girl, the popular kids, or your teacher you want a letter of recommendation from? All around the world, people try to disguise their true self, just so they can fit in and be someone they are not. In The Scarlet Letter, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale had been living behind a mask for seven excruciating years, as he remained unwilling to face the repercussions of society for his adulterous affair with Hester Prynne. If Dimmesdale was his honest and true self, he would have escaped death. While the epic is exaggerated through paranormal and supernatural occurrences, many of the punishments inflicted and morals questioned are quite topical today. Nathaniel Hawthorneencourages the readers to show freely to the world , no matter how daunting that personality may be (410). Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale s downfall affirms the damaging effects of falsifying one s disposition in The Scarlet Letter and today s society. Hawthorne is right when he says that facades are abominable. While returning from his forest meeting with Hester Prynne, Dimmesdale begins to self reflect as he walks back, prompting the narrator to say, No man for any considerable period can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true (Hawthorne 340). • 10. Rihanna s Disturbia In a world where vapid bubble gum pop songs garner the most Youtube hits, radio requests, and overall attention from today s youth, it is shocking to think that a pop music icon could release such a thought provoking song. Contrary to the quintessential 21st century radio hits, Rihanna s 2008 single entitled Disturbia challenges listeners to look beyond captivating beats and an irrefutably alluring hook. Beneath the rhythmically appealing instrumentals lies a series of ominous lyrics that would assuredly frighten the listeners if they comprehended these lines on a deeper level. The speaker explores themes of mental illness and Hollywood infamy and employs a desperate tone that begs the listener for assistance. The title itself instills a simultaneous feeling of familiarity and enigma in the listener. Familiarity is present as the root word disturb is easily identifiable, but the title also elicits feelings of confusion because Disturbia is not an actual word in the English language. The ia ending suggests that it may be a place inhabited by mentally disturbed people. The song begins with a repetitive cadence of alliterative vocals. This pattern is dull and indicative of an endless... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regardless of the song s resolution, Disturbia is unique in its attempt to intertwine dark and complex lyrics within a contemporary sound. The song, like many others in its genre, has amassed widespread success due to its memorable beats. However its lyrics also deserve notoriety; they suggest that some modern pop songs contain underlying themes despite their radio friendly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Traditional Method Of Genomic Selection Genomic selection Traditional method of genetic improvement of livestock using information on phenotypes and pedigrees to predict breeding values has been very successful, however, breeding values could be predict more accurately by using information on variation in DNA sequence between animals. Research on marker assisted selection (MAS) is very extensive but has limited implementation and increases in genetic gain is small (Dekkers, 2004). Goddard and Hayes (2002) showed that the factors governing the additional gains from MAS are the accuracy of the existing estimated breeding values (EBV). If at all, the accuracy is high, there will be little gain. However, where traditional selection is most difficult, e.g. traits displayed only in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using simulation, they showed that the breeding value could be predicted with an accuracy of 0.85 from marker data alone. The major limitation to the implementation of genomic selection has been the large number of markers required and the cost of genotyping these markers (Grapes et al. 2004). Recently both these limitations have been overcome in most livestock species following the sequencing of the livestock genomes, the subsequent availability of hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). As a result of these developments there are many livestock breeding companies planning to implement genomic selection in the near future (Grapes et al. 2004). Statistical analysis to calculate EBV from genome wide DNA markers it is convenient to think of the process in three steps: i.Use the markers to deduce the genotype of each animal at each QTL. ii. Estimate the effects of each QTL genotype on the trait. iii. Sum all the QTL effects for selection candidates to obtain their genomic EBV (GEBV). As the markers are unlikely to be evenly spaced, and due to the variable nature of the LD, we could still not expect that all QTL would have an SNP in complete LD with them. This suggests that we need denser markers than are currently available. The technology to achieve this is available (Parks et al. 2007). An additional problem arises if we wish to estimate the effect of each marker across more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Roman Villa is a brilliant architecture complexes and were decorated with paintings and sculpture. A Villa of a wealthy Roman family was much larger and more delightful than a regular standard Roman house. A Roman Villahad multiple rooms. • 13. One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula Jeffrey Hinkle Professor Ramirez English 303B 13 July 2016 Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger. Uniquely, in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were asleep, and their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story so far in Dracula, because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when people are sleeping. Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big emphasis on sleeping throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person in their most vulnerable state. ... Of course, this gives me an unnerving feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be wise for Harker to heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and he found himself in grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the same room he fell asleep in. However, Dracula stepped in and saved Harker, but I found out exactly how weak a person is when they are asleep in an unsecured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dennis Diderot echoes this sentiment in his encyclopedic definition of the term irreligious stating that morality is the universal law that the finger of God has engraved on all our hearts, and that consequently we should not confuse immortality and irreligion. Mortality can exist without religion; and religion, perhaps, even exits frequently with immortality (Course Pak, Chapter 2, pg. 157). Further Diderot sites the Fathers of a council of Toledo in his definition of intolerance where they state do no violence of any kind to people in order to lead them back to faith, for God is merciful or severe to whomever he chooses (Course Pak, Chapter 2, pg. 156). By siting the fathers, Diderot masterfully escapes censorship while fighting the churches belligerence with its own words. Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form. Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is shown clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source of wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment. The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills. • 35. Elasticity In The Miller s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer Henri Bergson s theory states that tension and elasticity are required in social life to adapt to the ever changing situations. Someone who is severely deficient in elasticity and tension will be denied access to society either by isolation or hospitalization. For someone that is slightly deficient or has a minor slip in elasticity or tension, the penalty will be laughter. According to Henri Bergson, the perception of mechanical inelasticity engenders laughter and is the basis of the comic. This inelasticity is clearly demonstrated in The Miller s tale by Geoffrey Chaucer with John and Absalon being the main targets of the ridicule, Nicholas becomes a target towards the end of the tale. Chaucer s characterization of those personages attitudes and behavior support Bergson s theory of mechanical inelasticity. First of all, John the carpenter, during the whole story, is a victim of the ridicule. He is so well played by Nicholas, who has a gift for telling people what they want to hear and manipulate them, that John will do everything that Nicholas asks of him. Nicholas who thinks he can ridicule Absalon even more by doing the same thing gets burned by him. Nicholas for the first time lacks awareness and fails to adapt and is therefore rigid. The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks Essay In a world in which abortion is considered either a woman s right or a sin against God, the poem The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks gives a voice to a mother lamenting her aborted children through three stanzas in which a warning is given to mothers, an admission of guilt is made, and an apology to the dead is given. The poet speaker, the mother, as part of her memory addresses the children that she got that [she] did not get (2). The shift in voice from stanzato stanza allows Brooks to capture the grief associated with an abortionby not condemning her actions, nor excusing them; she merely grieves for what might have been. It is possible that the narrator is trying to reassure herself in this passage by claiming that the child was never made, but then why write the poem to her unborn children? Directly addressing the aborted children, the mother is able to relate her experience to other women who may be contemplating abortion; perhaps the narrator is trying to warn other mothers with tone and diction: You will remember the children you got that you did not get, The damp small pulps with a little or with no hair, The singers and workers that never handled the air. You will never neglect or beat Them, or silence or buy with a sweet. You will never wind up the sucking thumb Or scuttle off ghosts that come. You will never leave them, controlling your luscious sigh, Return for a snack of them, with gobbling mother eye. (2 10) The word remember in line two may be considered a play on words; re member, or dismemberment as in the case of an abortion. The use of imagery is very strong throughout this poem. Words like mellow, pale, drowsy, melancholy, and dull, suggest to the reader that the atmosphere surrounding the speaker is dark and gloomy. Even lights in the street is not sufficient to brighten the surroundings, being that the only source of light stated is the pale dull pallor of an old gas light. The haziness of this light with darkness of the night, evokes a sense of sluggishness in the atmosphere. The singer speaks of his struggles and opinions, and it is reflected in the third stanza: With his ebony hands on each ivory key (Hughes line 9). In the singer s era, the impression of black and white coming together to form harmony would be unlikely, but he has reached this goal by creating the melodic tune that comes out of the piano. Since he was in a time where class distinctions with African Americans were quite rigid, and he was a busboy, struggling with his emotions, his past incidents inspired and motivated him ( Langston Hughes 1 of 3).
