Origin of Yoga
The practice of Yoga dates back to thousands of years ago and is believed to have been introduced to
the world by a person who was known as Adiyogi. Adiyogi, more famously know as Lord Shiva
himself, was first seen in upper parts of the Himalayas, where he was seen in a mystic self
transcendence. Seeing him in this state seven seekers sought to be his disciples and learn the practice
of Yoga that would lead them to this transcendence too. Adiyogi accepted these seven people as his
disciples and became the first guru ever known to mankind, Aadi Guru. The seven discliples learned
and practiced Yoga from the Aadi Guru and then set to travel to different parts of the world to impart
their learning.
Yoga thus became knowledge which was imparted through practice and ... Show more content on

opposite direction and not in a parallel manner. This creates strain on the eyes which is generally never

Types of Skiing Downhill Skiing nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In Downhill skiing, competitors take a
set course from start to finish. They take turns racing and each run is timed. The person with the
fastest time wins. Downhill racers use ski poles to pick up speed at the start and for balance when they

he activates an automatic timing mechanism. Downhill racing is the fastest Alpine ski racing sport.
Champion skiers reach speeds of over 90 miles per hour on the steep, strait parts of the course. The

Persuasive Fishing Outline
Introduction
With fishing industries advancing dramatically, fishing gear now consists of equipment such as large
nets and hooks to capture aquatic species at a much faster rate. But with such a large amount of fish
being captured daily and many more being thrown away, we are reducing food supply.
Thesis Statement: Advance in technology and fishing methods have made it easier to catch large
amounts of fish in a short amount of time; resulting in endangering fish species, reduce reproduction
rate, harm fish habitats, and reduce food supply for the future. II. Background Paragraph
For centuries we have relied on fishing as a means for food. Over the years we have developed new
methods of fishing and have enhanced our equipment to capture vast amounts of fish in a minimum
amount of time. We now have industrial fishing companies that provide for our seafood demand. As
we continue to capture large amounts of fish we begin to shorten supply for the future, reduce
reproduction rates, disrupt food chains, harm habitats, and drive species to extinction.
III. Paragraph I
Overfishing has been a major threat to ocean inhabitants. Fishing industries use harsh methods to fish
that unintentionally harm habitats or catch and kill fish that are untargeted. ... Show more content on

Many species, including those who are endangered, are often caught and thrown back, often they are
dead (Slowfood). Up to 90% of the total catch are often discarded (Slowfood). Large areas of seafloor
are swept by these ballast and crush habitats; where fish find food or use for shelter (Slowfood). The
larger nets have large enough mouths to scrape the sea floor, sometimes leaving permanent scars that
can reach up to four kilometer long (Slowfood). Bottom trawling sometimes realises sediments that
are toxic, creating turbid water, making it insufficient to sustain life

Enterprise Resource Planning ( Erp ) Systems Attempt
Introduction
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems attempt to combine data and processes in organizations.
The data is centralized as a single database. This database functions as a hub that stores, shares, and
circulates data from within the different organizational units and business functions. ERP systems are
one of the most adopted information technology (IT) solutions in organizations. Besides the possible
cost savings, one of the main drivers for an ERP adoption would be the technical and operation
integration of business functions to complement the information stream with the material flow of
goods or services. In order for the management and employees to utilize the use of the competitive
capabilities of ERP systems, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols Essay
Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols
In The Four Idols, Francis Bacon discusses the concept of what fundamentally stands in the way of a
human using the correct way of arriving upon a conclusion. Bacon believes there are four falsehoods
that delay people from uncovering what they need to: the idols of the tribe, cave, marketplace and
theater. At first I thought that these idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful
consideration, I understand how each idol relates to humankind.
The Idols of the Tribe represent the illusions of human nature: it refers to the idea that our everyday
problems arise simply because we are humans. For example, it is human nature to think that there is

When someone grows up in a neighborhood that differs from the rest of community by way of
religion, race, or values, for example, their decisions may be one sided, for better or worse. People
usually devote themselves to either one side or the other, but in order to get a full understanding
should study all sides equally and as objectively as possible. Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever
intrigues one s mind should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer
understanding.
The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with one another. These
illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in misinterpretation. There are two classes
in which the illusions may fall. The first class consists of words that are invented with no meanings
and do not exist. The second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the
word liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person may
associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may connect it with being
honorable through education. No matter the word, there are always multiple ways to view and apply
the meaning of a word to a situation.
The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities tell them and do
not bother to question the impressions put upon them. Bacon believes that these received systems are

The Use Of Religion In The Novela Pedro Paramo By Juan Rulfo
In the novela Pedro Paramo, Juan Rulfo uses religion as a symbol that contradicts with the characters
lack of morals and lack of faith. The town people of Comala are obsessed with the thought of afterlife,
pray and attending church regularly, but these habits that have lost their true meaning. Rulfo uses
these symbolic activities to make the characters nihilistic and initialism natures more apparent. Father
Renteria plays the God like figure, being that he is the only priest in the novel allowing him to be the
mediator between life on earth and the afterlife. It is noticed in the ways people come to him to
receive forgiveness for their sins and wrong doings. At the scene of Miguel Paramo s funeral, Father
Renteria left without offering the final benediction to the people who filled the church (25). The
reasoning behind this was that Miguel Paramo killed Father Renteria s brother and raped his niece,
Ana. This left the people of the service having the corpse weigh heavily on the soul of everyone
present (25). Father Renteria s occupation demands integrity, purity, and the power to believe his own
teachings. Father Renteria may have had those attributes, but it changed in his time in Comala. The
realization and consequences of his own change make him question himself leading to the town to
question not only him, but also their afterlife future, givibg a perspective light on Comala s religious
and psychological condition. Pedro Paramo tells Father Renteria to Weigh him

of vesicle transport within a cell. More specifically, these scientists have elaborated on the knowledge
of how cargo is delivered to the correct place within a eukaryotic cell at the correct time.

In these mutant yeast cells, the typical vesicle transport system was abnormal, which allowed
detection of specific genes that were related to these mutations. These screenings eventually led to the
identification of twenty three separate genes that could be classified into three groups based on their
effects on membranes involved in traffic. These membranes include the endoplasmic reticulum, the
Golgi Apparatus, and the plasma membrane (Novick and Schekman, 1979).
James Rothman dissected the transport mechanism by purifying and identifying proteins used in
transport. The NSF, SNAP and SNARE proteins act as docking sites to enable vesicles to fuse to
specific target membranes. This explains the precision of transport; the proteins only combined with
certain cargo. The ability to purify the NSF protein was made possible by the identification of the
VSV G protein. The VSV G protein is labeled by a sugar when it comes in contact with the Golgi
Apparatus, simplifying documentation. Genes code for proteins used in fusion, exemplified by how
the sec18 gene relates to NSF. Sec17 relates to the SNAP protein in a similar manner. The discovery of
the SNAP protein allowed for the revelation of SNARE proteins found in brain tissue. SNARE
proteins are a gateway to the fusion and docking of vesicles in a very specific manner: only an
exclusive number of target SNAREs (t SNAREs) would bind to specific vesicle SNAREs, or v

The Change in Status and Position of Jews in Russia, France and Germany in the Years 1880 1920
Throughout history Jews have been persecuted. I am going to write about how their status and position
changed from 1880 to 1920 in the countries France, Russia and Germany. Anti Semitism, the
persecution of Jews, was introduced centuries before the year 1880. In Ancient times Jews were used
as slaves by the Egyptian s, the Babylonian s and the Roman s. In many countries Jewish temples,
synagogues were destroyed and Judaism was banned. As Christianity grew so did the persecution of
Jews. Christians blamed the Jews for the death of Jesus Christ and the Bible calls the Jews, The

This cleared his debt. The Crusades war also proved a huge problem for European Jews. The
Crusaders were Christian s travelling from Northern Europe to Jerusalem to fight in the Holy War. On
the way they stopped at towns around Europe and massacred many Jews, in some cases the
Archbishop of that town tried to stop the Crusaders, only to fail. Anti Semitism was originated long
before 1880 and was not invented by Adolf Hitler. In France Jews had been treated fairly by
Napoleon; he freed many ghettos that were occupied by Jews, they were also given full civil rights
before any other European country, in the late 18th Century. It was even the earliest country in Europe
to have Jewish cabinet ministers; the first time a Jew entered the cabinet was in 1848. Many other
countries did not allow Jews into the cabinet until the 20th Century, including Britain. Unfortunately,
all this deteriorated because of two scandals that happened near the end of the 19th Century. In 1880 a
canal was to be built linking the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, which was to be called the Panama
Canal. French people invested a lot of money into the scheme, but the plan had too many problems
and by 1889 lots of money had been lost. It was found the money had been used to bribe politicians
into supporting the canal in public. Then it was found many of the

Taking a Look at the TPS Mechanism
TPS MECHANISM
Social infrastructure is mostly done at neighborhood level. Earlier it was done through land
reservation through land acquisition, but in that process increases the financial burden on ULBs. There
was also difficulties in procurement of land. So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by
keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level
infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies.
After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge
differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the
saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in
the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and
road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has
become a mega city. And due to this reason, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has
proposed additional 64 sq. km of urbanizable land over the next ten years in the revised development
plan (2011). The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10
years. Therefore it was important to ensure planned growth with good road network and infrastructure
facilities in the developing areas of the city. (TOI)

Critisicm On Pride And Prejudice Essay
Materialistic Marriage in Pride and Prejudice
Each individual in this world surely have a dream to get married once they grow up, especially with
the one they love. Even though today s society accepts unmarried relationship where couples live
together and have babies out of wedlock, in the end marriage is what they hope for as a symbol of
their relationship. Clearly, marriage is a must in human s life. This necessity influences humans to
create stories that end with marriage and live happily ever after. Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane
Austen, is also one of those stories that fulfils this criterion. In this novel, Jane Austen described
various marriages which differ from each other. Instead of love, there are marriages that are ... Show

The business of her life was to get her daughters married. (Austen 3). If the entailment is really
applied on that society, then the biggest failing in this novel is the property that Miss King and Lady
Catherine de Burgh inherited. From the entailment s rule it is clearly wrong for Miss King and Lady
Catherine de Burgh to be the heirs because they are ladies. If the entailment is applied to everyone but
the royal classes, it is not applicable because Miss King does not represent the royal class. Externally
this contradiction makes the readers reckon that the author had made a huge mistake. Jane Austen
actually created two situations that are differentiated by the entailment. Ladies who are bonded with
the entailment are keen to attach themselves with rich men. For instance Mrs. Bennet, although she is
not the one who should get married, she wants Elizabeth to be married with Mr. Collins so that the
entailment would not be such a difficult thing.
This was his [Mr. Collins] plan of amends of atonement for inheriting their father s estate; and he
thought it an excellent one... His plan did not vary on seeing them. Miss Bennet s lovely face confirms
his views... (Austen 53).

Bend it like Beckham is a movie about a Punjabi adolescent. In this movie, she goes by the name Jess
for a shorter, easier version of Jesminder Bhamra. She belongs to a Sikh family who is currently living
in London, a different world from their hometown Punjab, India. As a typical Indian parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bhamra would like for their daughter to follow the Indian heritage by attending school, learning
to cook, becoming a Doctor, and marrying an Indian man. However, just like many other adolescents,

During this phase, adolescents believe that everyone around them is fully focused on what he/she does
and how he/she looks. As a result, they are consciously aware of what he/she is doing and how this
action might be perceived by others around them; creating imaginary audience in their imagination.
One example of this can seen during one of Jess s football practices. After she was accepted to be a
part of the female s local football team, she was given the uniform a pair of shoe, shorts and t shirt. As
soon as she looked at the pair of shorts, a look of restlessness began to appear on her face. Is it not
until her football coach, Joe, confronted her do we find out the reason. She, uncomfortably, explains
that she doesn t want to play football wearing shorts because her legs are [half] burnt. This explains
Jess s thinking that everyone in the team will notice her legs and will cause embarrassment for herself.
Soon after, Joe explains it s okay Jess; no one will notice it once you start playing. However it is not
until Joe reveals marks on his legs that Jess begins to feel comfortable; depicting adolescent
egocentrism. Another example that portrays adolescent egocentrism in this movie is through personal
fable, a belief in one s personal uniqueness. During this, the adolescent believes that

Canadian Tort Law
Engineers, contractors, and other businesses must be mindful of and knowledgeable of their legal
obligations when performing their occupation or supplying a product. Negligence in the design or
construction of a product that results in damage or bodily harm, or could result in damage or bodily
harm, can result in liability for economic loss under Canadian Tort law. Engineers, architects, and
contractors need to be respectful of their duty of care to ensure their product is precisely produced
with no danger of negligence. In 1972, Bird Construction Company Limited entered into a contract

103). 2. ANALYSIS In Canada, when someone feels they have been wronged or injured by another,
they can seek compensation through the courts. This area of law is known as tort law which examines
conduct and consequences (Lin, 2010, p. 4). Tort law does not rely on promises or contracts. It is an
area of law that examines the obligations and duties one party has to another. In relation to business
and professionals, tort law aims to change the behavior of producers to prevent future harm or loss
(Lin, 2010, p. 9). In Winnipeg Condominium versus Bird Construction, the tort law focused on
negligence. As Justice La Forest indicated, the construction of the building resulted in a defect which
presented a potential for physical damage and a possible danger to the public. While there was no
mention of any involvement of an engineer as a defendant in the case, if the actions of an engineer
would have been in question, then that engineer could also have been named as a defendant. However,
the negligence tort was being directed primarily at the general contractor in this case. While the
Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench and the Manitoba Court of Appeal dismissed the case because they
found there was not a contractual relationship between Winnipeg Condominium and Bird
Construction and because there was no evidence of damage to property or person, the dismissals were
overturned at the Supreme Court level. The Supreme Court ruling written by Justice

Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals
Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication
mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones,
cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data
is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This
may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This
data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an
analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In
order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that
the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused
with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by
conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and
the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals
transmitted to the receiver. Signals travel along different types of media including copper wire, fiber
optics, and space. (Cao, n.d.). Analog signals can be found in audio sources including voices,
telephones, and cameras. They are continuously variable and potentially

The Black Panther Party By Jessica C. Harris
This article takes an inside and out investigation of The Black Panther Party as a particular illustration
for progressive patriotism and breaks down altogether the positive commitments they made and in
addition the negative parts of the gathering. Jessica C. Harris, who was fixated on the historical
backdrop of the organization, did research and composed the paper. This exhert (pages from 409 421)

Black Nationalism is a belief system that goes for freeing African americans from mistreatment and

2009. It was a dream come true for Hardrick. An injury to his knee put his future and his scholarship

something he needed to regain a year of college eligibility. His family was stuck with tuition bills

Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay
Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof
Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as mere
objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and deals
with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s
preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant of
their action s possible consequences.
All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of flats
in the hot, hot, sun, these men seek a diversion from the relentless heat. They whistle, yell, and wave
at a near naked woman on a rooftop nearby, but the woman pays no mind ... Show more content on

They report her movements to one another. Stanley likens her presence on her roof to a crime gotten
away with. He states that he would never let his wife do what she is doing (Lessing 857). Acting as
judge and jury, all three men seem to deny her the right to be on her roof doing as she pleases.
The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200). The
woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she has.
By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter what
(Lessing 858). She remains the symbol of a new age woman who disdains harassment from men.
Tom believes he is this woman s hero. Throughout the story he sees himself protecting her from
Stanley s domination (Lessing 858). He feels he is not her harasser and that she must be aware of his
love for her. His dreams of her have convinced him that meeting this woman is in his destiny. He
doesn t interpret her indifference as rejection as Stanley does and has no idea how he will suffer for it
later. Far gone into his fantasy, Tom imagines the nearby crane aiding his heroic rescue of her.
Stanley shows a hatred for this woman s remote coolness (Lessing 858). An attitude not yet displayed
by Tom and long since forgotten by Harry, his anger reveals how he has dealt with the indifference of
women before. Protected for the moment, by this lofty location, Stanley

Quote Approval In Interviews
The practice of quote approval in interviews with politicians and their campaign officials is becoming
more common as the constant need for information allows sources to dictate the terms of interviews.
Case study 2 A presented by Patterson Wilkins (2014, p. 37) is concerned with the ethical implications
of allowing government officials use quote approval in their interviews and how quote approval
affects the reliability of information. Quote approval is a practice that is relatively harmless when
omitting parts of quote doesn t change its meaning, but quote approval also sets a dangerous precedent
that could lead to more governmental control over public information and the press.
Micro Issues First, journalists need to provide citizens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The freedom of expression is granted unconditionally on the grounds that it is used to do moral good,
and placing the needs of a few politicians over the general public is not morally good (Patterson
Wilkins, 2014, p. 38). Bending the truth to benefit the campaign or image of a public figure is
deceiving the public regardless of the information being withheld. Citizen journalism heavily
influence quote approval since many politicians have misspoke when speaking off the cuff with
citizens and damaged their public image. Quote approval is used to assure that these situations do not
occur and hurt polling numbers, but quote approval could be considered to be breaking the ethical
news values of accuracy and community (Patterson Wilkins, 2014, pp. 35 36).
Conclusion
In conclusion, quote approval can blur the lines between ethical and unethical journalism depending
on the degree of alteration to a quote. Altering quotes can be ethical if it only makes the quote more
concise and easy to understand, but there is a fine line between altering for readability and altering the
meaning. Quote approval is a slippery slope that could lead to public figures and government officials
controlling the flow of information, and the implications of a news media controlled by the
government are extremely

The Causes Of Reconstruction In The American Civil War
After the North wins the Civil War the South was in ruins. Train tracks are demolished therefore
preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South, and hundreds of buildings have
collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has
just begun, but how long will it last? The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North won
the war slavery was abolished. Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified.
Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans, American
citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to vote
based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A terrorist group
called the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a white supremacist group that was against Reconstruction and
freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. Information for this essay was used from the
newspapers Harper s Weekly, Independent Monitor, and the Boston Evening Transcript. Through
thinking the African Americans should not be in the government, paying more attention to the
government frauds than reconstruction, and the public opinion turning against reconstruction, the
North is responsible for killing reconstruction. Since the North did not want the free slaves in their
government conflicts arose and ended reconstruction. The blacks, as a people, are unfitted for the

My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years
Literacy Narrative: My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years I have never been the type of
student who enjoyed reading or writing. I have always found it difficult to express myself by writing
narratives, book reports, and any other required assignment. I am far more skilled at speaking or
verbal expression in general as I have found over the years that people tend to misunderstand my point
if it is written. When I sit to write, I have to think about what I want to say. This is not easy for me as I
tend to think about several things at once. Clearing my mind and focusing on the writing task is a
challenge in itself. I do not consider myself a strong writer and find it intimidating especially when I
know it will be critiqued. The sense of failure when seeing the paper I worked so hard on look like the
newest local headline of a recent murder is disheartening for me. I assume I am being overly critical of
myself but those feelings seem to be redeemed when I look over the aftermath of what was my
wonderful work of mental art. The irony of all of this is I write many different things in my current
job. One any given day I draft contracts, amendments, and addendums to name a few. I have learned a
great deal from my bosses and mentors which has made me a better writer and more aware of my
grammar and proofreading of work. My Vice President is an attorney and English major with a keen
ability to find the minutest errors. I try to take any criticism

Iconic Photo Of The Vietnam War
Iconic Photo of the Vietnam War
This essay will be a discussion of a famous photograph from the Vietnam War by a French
photographer, Marc Riboud. The photograph was captured in 1967 and it sends out a powerful
message about war. The intention of the photo was to turn the public s opinion against war. In this
photograph, a young woman known as Jan Rose Kasmir comes face to face with guards outside the
Pentagon and she is marching towards them in protest against war. Riboud saw this young innocent
woman confront the guards and he slowly crept up to the side of her and took the picture with her not
knowing. Many years later, Jose Rose Kasmir saw the picture and began to cry as it took her back to
the overwhelming sadness of the war. I will discuss the technical aspects of the image and look at the
various readings that can be seen. I will also discuss my own reflection of the photograph and the
reasons why I chose to analyse it.
There are a number of technical aspects used in this photograph. It uses depth of field which gives a
focused image. The photograph lacks sharpness apart from the flower that Jan Rose Kasmir is holding.
The flower has a sharp focus and looking closely at the image, the quality in the flower compared to
the focus in the young woman s face is quite different. The way that this has been created makes the
flower more appealing than looking at the guards or the young woman. The message in this
photograph is direct and it s clear to see the importance of the

During the latency stage, the child/client begins to imitate their behaviors, mannerisms, speech, and
values of culture. For instance, this will initially allow the child to identify with their primary sexual
characteristics towards the corresponding parent, leading to increased sexual desires and behaviors.
Sexual latency begins from the age of six and lasts approximately five years. The child begins to
associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in society,
creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which comprises
of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal stage. Freud
rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not experience
homosexual behaviors or relationships. Throughout this stage, individuals will begin to formulate
relationships with the opposite sex, which supersedes further development of the superego leading to
individuation and autonomy (Garcia, 1995).
In the next sections, the author will discuss the framework of attachment theory by John Bowlby and
Mary Ainsworth since both theorists worked collaboratively with attachment styles and object
relations theory. John Bowlby coined the theory of attachment based on the object relations

Impact Of The French And Indian War
4) What was the impact of the Seven Years War (i.e., French and Indian War)? on the emergence of
American nationalism?
Almost 50 years of contention amongst Britain and France over North America was resolved in the
French and Indian War. At the point when the war started, there were more than around 2 million
British colonists already in America and around 65,000 French in Canada. The French focused to
secure the land against outside traders, and so they created a chain of posts along Pennsylvania s
Allegheny River. The British requested colonist governors to stop the French progress, by force if
essential. Congress affirmed the arrangement of managing Native American trade, and so on, however
the colonies declined to confirm it. In 1758, the British, with colonial powers helping, seized
Louisbourg, a French fort guarding the St. Lawrence River. In 1759, British powers traveled up the St.
Louis River, laid attack on the city of Québec for three months, and vanquished French powers in
September. The following year, Montreal additionally surrendered to the British, finishing the war in
America. The war arrived at an official end in 1763, with the marking of the Treaty of Paris. The
bargain gave Britain all French land in Canada aside from two small islands south of Newfoundland.
Essentially, triumphant Britain kept Canada as opposed to the vanquished slave colonies of
Guadeloupe and Martinique, which returned back to France.

The Contributions Of Rosalind Franklin
Rosalind Franklin was a chemist who made a profound contribution as a result of her work with DNA.
Prior to this time, DNA was still a mystery in how impactful its purpose could be to society and the
growing age of science and technology. DNA became of importance to learn about the foundation in
relation to genetic and hereditary. Without the contribution of Franklin, todays understanding of the
DNA structure would not exist. Rosalind Franklin died before the Nobel Peace Prize was given for the
discovery of DNA. If she been alive, her receipt of the award would have been justifiable. Despite her
death, Rosalind Franklin demonstrated the knowledge and research essential for understanding
deoxyribonucleic acid and as a result should receive recognition in the form of a Nobel Peace Prize.
Rosalind Franklin s work on DNA was crucial in discovering the composition of the human body as a
whole. Her x ray photo revealed a double helix structure and she also discovered the A and B form of
DNA. She worked through the adversity of being a female in a predominately male dominated realm
and made remarkable findings that were eventually stolen. She adapted to a new lab with antiquated
technology. Before this discovery, the structure of DNA was thought to be simple. Scientist, Watson
and Crick, started with the wrong structure of DNA from a misinterpretation of notes from one of
Franklin s presentations. Unlike Watson and Crick, Rosalind Franklin could explain DNA and how it
worked.

The Long Term Effectiveness Of Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Literature Review
Existing controlled examinations of intervention efficacy specific to only sexual assault and rape are
presently minimal in comparison to intervention examinations of combination or other types of trauma
(Regehr, Alaggia, Dennis, Pitts, Saini, 2013). Psychotherapeutic interventions that fail to differentiate
sexual assault and rape victims from other types of trauma victims may decrease the treatment
effectiveness or inadvertently harm participants in this subgroup. Trauma associated from rape or
sexual assault differs from other forms of trauma and treatment efficacy should be examined in this
manner. Trauma from rape or sexual assault entail symptoms of PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations
and sexual dysfunction. Individuals may also indicate feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, fear,
shame, self blame, societal blame and stigma (Russell Davis, 2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter
Hagene, 2014). This research proposal intends to explore the long term effectiveness of Prolonged
Exposure Therapy (PE) at reducing distress and trauma explicitly for adult victims of sexual assault
and rape.
Prolonged exposure (PE) is a specific exposure therapy program that derives from Emotional
Processing Theory (EPT). The idea of emotional processing is to interpret realistic information and
accommodate that information into a fear structure which in turn diminishes the fear (Foa, 2011). Foa
(2011) acknowledges that the idea of failing to process trauma is

Solon Vs Solon
What is the underlying mechanism that causes the downfall of leaders and the collapse of societies? A
superstitious individual could attribute these transitions to the gods. Solon, ancient Athenian poet and
political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is men themselves who
cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and understand the potential
dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain the best possible choice, one
must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to
consider this question and a lack of foresight is where many go wrong. In both Herodotus
representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a wise man who devotes his entire life to his
objectives and warns foolish leaders of their irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the
rise and fall of powerful men and great empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when
he says human prosperity never abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the
representations of Solon are in some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses
anecdotes to teach moral lessons, while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the
Athenian oligarchy and proposes ways to reform Athens. Solon s reformations brought Athens out of
an age of treachery and lawlessness rife with dishonest, unjust and essentially criminal rulers. He

Ask yourself: Should we follow this tendency to buy the most modern devices or unnecessary things?
Do your children need the new toy, or it will be added somewhere in the toy bucket?
It is scientifically proven, people need one two new things per week to satisfy their needs. And the
easiest way to get rid of this unhelpful for both sides habit is to establish rules of buying, which could
improve youngsters discipline and behavior. You can specify a day of the week the toy day, when you
can buy only one special and good toy, so your kid to expect and deserve it. To make it like a game

between our parental responsibilities and those of the toys. Staying behind the toy scene, maybe we

There are also many people that call themselves Jews in the United States and don t believe in the
Judaism religion. Many people in the United States that call themselves Jews will celebrate the
holidays but don t do the religious activities. These people are still considered Jews though because
they are known as secular people. You are considered a Jew if your mother was a Jew or anyone
whose gone through the formal process of conversion of a Jew. The conversion of a Jew can be a long
process. The first step in this process is considering Judaism. During this step the person has to figure
out why they want to become a Jew. Many choose to because they are involved romantically or want
to unite the family religion. Once the person has decided that it s the right choice for them, the second
choice is finding a rabbi. This step can be difficult since the different rabbis differ. Some rabbis will
want to devote more time than other one might. Rabbis decide who can enter into Judaism. When

third step is learning Judaism. The rabbi the person is meeting with will normally help someone learn

About 20 years ago, I picked up a friend for the airport. She told me that she had a present from her

  • 7. Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols Essay Analysis of Francis Bacon s The Four Idols In The Four Idols, Francis Bacon discusses the concept of what fundamentally stands in the way of a human using the correct way of arriving upon a conclusion. Bacon believes there are four falsehoods that delay people from uncovering what they need to: the idols of the tribe, cave, marketplace and theater. At first I thought that these idols did not apply to humans at all, but now, after careful consideration, I understand how each idol relates to humankind. The Idols of the Tribe represent the illusions of human nature: it refers to the idea that our everyday problems arise simply because we are humans. For example, it is human nature to think that there is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When someone grows up in a neighborhood that differs from the rest of community by way of religion, race, or values, for example, their decisions may be one sided, for better or worse. People usually devote themselves to either one side or the other, but in order to get a full understanding should study all sides equally and as objectively as possible. Ultimately, Bacon declares that whatever intrigues one s mind should be held in suspicion pending investigation in order to get a clearer understanding. The Idols of the Marketplace are illusions formed when people communicate with one another. These illusions are caused by the misuse of words, which results in misinterpretation. There are two classes in which the illusions may fall. The first class consists of words that are invented with no meanings and do not exist. The second class is made up of words that have double meanings. Let us take the word liberal; there are countless ways an individual may interpret this word. One person may associate it with becoming a progressive individual, while someone else may connect it with being honorable through education. No matter the word, there are always multiple ways to view and apply the meaning of a word to a situation. The Idols of the Theater are illusions shaped when people believe what the authorities tell them and do not bother to question the impressions put upon them. The Use Of Religion In The Novela Pedro Paramo By Juan Rulfo In the novela Pedro Paramo, Juan Rulfo uses religion as a symbol that contradicts with the characters lack of morals and lack of faith. The town people of Comala are obsessed with the thought of afterlife, pray and attending church regularly, but these habits that have lost their true meaning. Rulfo uses these symbolic activities to make the characters nihilistic and initialism natures more apparent. Father Renteria plays the God like figure, being that he is the only priest in the novel allowing him to be the mediator between life on earth and the afterlife. It is noticed in the ways people come to him to receive forgiveness for their sins and wrong doings. At the scene of Miguel Paramo s funeral, Father Renteria left without offering the final benediction to the people who filled the church (25). The reasoning behind this was that Miguel Paramo killed Father Renteria s brother and raped his niece, Ana. This left the people of the service having the corpse weigh heavily on the soul of everyone present (25). Father Renteria s occupation demands integrity, purity, and the power to believe his own teachings. Father Renteria may have had those attributes, but it changed in his time in Comala. Each year, The Nobel Assembly in Karolinska Institutet distributes various Noble Prizes to recipients who have demonstrated a monumental contribution to the sciences. In 2013, the 50 professors that constitute the Nobel Assembly awarded The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Randy W. Schekman, James E. Rothman, and Thomas C. Südhof for their contribution in uncovering the details of vesicle transport within a cell. More specifically, these scientists have elaborated on the knowledge of how cargo is delivered to the correct place within a eukaryotic cell at the correct time. The compartmentalized eukaryotic cell must retain the ability to ensure that correct vesicles are shipped to the required destination at appropriate times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these mutant yeast cells, the typical vesicle transport system was abnormal, which allowed detection of specific genes that were related to these mutations. These screenings eventually led to the identification of twenty three separate genes that could be classified into three groups based on their effects on membranes involved in traffic. These membranes include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi Apparatus, and the plasma membrane (Novick and Schekman, 1979). James Rothman dissected the transport mechanism by purifying and identifying proteins used in transport. The NSF, SNAP and SNARE proteins act as docking sites to enable vesicles to fuse to specific target membranes. This explains the precision of transport; the proteins only combined with certain cargo. The ability to purify the NSF protein was made possible by the identification of the VSV G protein. The VSV G protein is labeled by a sugar when it comes in contact with the Golgi Apparatus, simplifying documentation. Genes code for proteins used in fusion, exemplified by how the sec18 gene relates to NSF. Sec17 relates to the SNAP protein in a similar manner. The discovery of the SNAP protein allowed for the revelation of SNARE proteins found in brain tissue. SNARE proteins are a gateway to the fusion and docking of vesicles in a very specific manner: only an exclusive number of target SNAREs (t SNAREs) would bind to specific vesicle SNAREs, or v SNAREs ... Anti Semitism, the persecution of Jews, was introduced centuries before the year 1880. In Ancient times Jews were used as slaves by the Egyptian s, the Babylonian s and the Roman s. Anti Semitism was originated long before 1880 and was not invented by Adolf Hitler. In France Jews had been treated fairly by Napoleon; he freed many ghettos that were occupied by Jews, they were also given full civil rights before any other European country, in the late 18th Century. It was even the earliest country in Europe to have Jewish cabinet ministers; the first time a Jew entered the cabinet was in 1848. Many other countries did not allow Jews into the cabinet until the 20th Century, including Britain. Unfortunately, all this deteriorated because of two scandals that happened near the end of the 19th Century. In 1880 a canal was to be built linking the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, which was to be called the Panama Canal. So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies. After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has become a mega city. And due to this reason, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has proposed additional 64 sq. km of urbanizable land over the next ten years in the revised development plan (2011). The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10 years. If the entailment is applied to everyone but the royal classes, it is not applicable because Miss King does not represent the royal class. Externally this contradiction makes the readers reckon that the author had made a huge mistake. Jane Austen actually created two situations that are differentiated by the entailment. ANALYSIS In Canada, when someone feels they have been wronged or injured by another, they can seek compensation through the courts. This area of law is known as tort law which examines conduct and consequences (Lin, 2010, p. 4). Tort law does not rely on promises or contracts. It is an area of law that examines the obligations and duties one party has to another. In relation to business and professionals, tort law aims to change the behavior of producers to prevent future harm or loss (Lin, 2010, p. 9). In Winnipeg Condominium versus Bird Construction, the tort law focused on negligence. As Justice La Forest indicated, the construction of the building resulted in a defect which presented a potential for physical damage and a possible danger to the public. While there was no mention of any involvement of an engineer as a defendant in the case, if the actions of an engineer would have been in question, then that engineer could also have been named as a defendant. However, the negligence tort was being directed primarily at the general contractor in this case. While the Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench and the Manitoba Court of Appeal dismissed the case because they found there was not a contractual relationship between Winnipeg Condominium and Bird Construction and because there was no evidence of damage to property or person, the dismissals were overturned at the Supreme Court level. • 16. Mechanisms of Data Communication and Signals Data communication refers to the transmission of electronic information over shared communication mediums. This transmission can be generated from electronic sources such as computers, phones, cameras and even audio sources such as speakers. Due to the various types of sources from which data is derived, each source requires a mechanism that gathers and prepares the data for transmission. This may include digitizing data, or encoding to ensure the privacy of the data during transmission. This data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost and confused with other data in the same channel. (Comer, 2014). The propagation of data is accomplished by conducting energy in the form of electromagnetic waves called signals. Depending on the source and the devices that operate in the communication channels, analog and digital are the two types of signals transmitted to the receiver. Signals travel along different types of media including copper wire, fiber optics, and space. (Cao, n.d.). Analog signals can be found in audio sources including voices, telephones, and cameras. • 30. My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years Literacy Narrative: My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years I have never been the type of student who enjoyed reading or writing. I have always found it difficult to express myself by writing narratives, book reports, and any other required assignment. I am far more skilled at speaking or verbal expression in general as I have found over the years that people tend to misunderstand my point if it is written. When I sit to write, I have to think about what I want to say. This is not easy for me as I tend to think about several things at once. Clearing my mind and focusing on the writing task is a challenge in itself. I do not consider myself a strong writer and find it intimidating especially when I know it will be critiqued. The sense of failure when seeing the paper I worked so hard on look like the newest local headline of a recent murder is disheartening for me. I assume I am being overly critical of myself but those feelings seem to be redeemed when I look over the aftermath of what was my wonderful work of mental art. The irony of all of this is I write many different things in my current job. One any given day I draft contracts, amendments, and addendums to name a few. • 32. Iconic Photo Of The Vietnam War Iconic Photo of the Vietnam War This essay will be a discussion of a famous photograph from the Vietnam War by a French photographer, Marc Riboud. The photograph was captured in 1967 and it sends out a powerful message about war. The intention of the photo was to turn the public s opinion against war. In this photograph, a young woman known as Jan Rose Kasmir comes face to face with guards outside the Pentagon and she is marching towards them in protest against war. Riboud saw this young innocent woman confront the guards and he slowly crept up to the side of her and took the picture with her not knowing. Many years later, Jose Rose Kasmir saw the picture and began to cry as it took her back to the overwhelming sadness of the war. I will discuss the technical aspects of the image and look at the various readings that can be seen. I will also discuss my own reflection of the photograph and the reasons why I chose to analyse it. There are a number of technical aspects used in this photograph. It uses depth of field which gives a focused image. The photograph lacks sharpness apart from the flower that Jan Rose Kasmir is holding. The flower has a sharp focus and looking closely at the image, the quality in the flower compared to the focus in the young woman s face is quite different. The way that this has been created makes the flower more appealing than looking at the guards or the young woman. The message in this photograph is direct and it s clear to see the importance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The child begins to associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in society, creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which comprises of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal stage. Freud rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not experience homosexual behaviors or relationships. • 34. Impact Of The French And Indian War 4) What was the impact of the Seven Years War (i.e., French and Indian War)? on the emergence of American nationalism? Almost 50 years of contention amongst Britain and France over North America was resolved in the French and Indian War. At the point when the war started, there were more than around 2 million British colonists already in America and around 65,000 French in Canada. The French focused to secure the land against outside traders, and so they created a chain of posts along Pennsylvania s Allegheny River. The British requested colonist governors to stop the French progress, by force if essential. Congress affirmed the arrangement of managing Native American trade, and so on, however the colonies declined to confirm it. In 1758, the British, with colonial powers helping, seized Louisbourg, a French fort guarding the St. Lawrence River. In 1759, British powers traveled up the St. Louis River, laid attack on the city of Québec for three months, and vanquished French powers in September. The following year, Montreal additionally surrendered to the British, finishing the war in America. The war arrived at an official end in 1763, with the marking of the Treaty of Paris. The bargain gave Britain all French land in Canada aside from two small islands south of Newfoundland. Essentially, triumphant Britain kept Canada as opposed to the vanquished slave colonies of Guadeloupe and Martinique, which returned back to France. The Seven Year War was a colossal defining ... Despite her death, Rosalind Franklin demonstrated the knowledge and research essential for understanding deoxyribonucleic acid and as a result should receive recognition in the form of a Nobel Peace Prize. Rosalind Franklin s work on DNA was crucial in discovering the composition of the human body as a whole. Her x ray photo revealed a double helix structure and she also discovered the A and B form of DNA. She worked through the adversity of being a female in a predominately male dominated realm and made remarkable findings that were eventually stolen. She adapted to a new lab with antiquated technology. Before this discovery, the structure of DNA was thought to be simple. Scientist, Watson and Crick, started with the wrong structure of DNA from a misinterpretation of notes from one of Franklin s presentations. • 36. The Long Term Effectiveness Of Prolonged Exposure Therapy Literature Review Existing controlled examinations of intervention efficacy specific to only sexual assault and rape are presently minimal in comparison to intervention examinations of combination or other types of trauma (Regehr, Alaggia, Dennis, Pitts, Saini, 2013). Psychotherapeutic interventions that fail to differentiate sexual assault and rape victims from other types of trauma victims may decrease the treatment effectiveness or inadvertently harm participants in this subgroup. Trauma associated from rape or sexual assault differs from other forms of trauma and treatment efficacy should be examined in this manner. Trauma from rape or sexual assault entail symptoms of PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations and sexual dysfunction. Individuals may also indicate feelings of vulnerability, loss of control, fear, shame, self blame, societal blame and stigma (Russell Davis, 2007; Regehr et al., 2013; Ullman Peter Hagene, 2014). This research proposal intends to explore the long term effectiveness of Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) at reducing distress and trauma explicitly for adult victims of sexual assault and rape. Prolonged exposure (PE) is a specific exposure therapy program that derives from Emotional Processing Theory (EPT). • 39. Solon Vs Solon What is the underlying mechanism that causes the downfall of leaders and the collapse of societies? A superstitious individual could attribute these transitions to the gods. Solon, ancient Athenian poet and political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is men themselves who cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and understand the potential dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain the best possible choice, one must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to consider this question and a lack of foresight is where many go wrong. In both Herodotus representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a wise man who devotes his entire life to his objectives and warns foolish leaders of their irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the rise and fall of powerful men and great empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when he says human prosperity never abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the representations of Solon are in some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses anecdotes to teach moral lessons, while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the Athenian oligarchy and proposes ways to reform Athens. Solon s reformations brought Athens out of an age of treachery and lawlessness rife with dishonest, unjust and essentially criminal rulers. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
