PUA 440 Case Study 3

Vegas RUNNING HEAD: Case Study 3 PUA 440 2 Defining the Issue There are parts of the country
that are more prone to having disasters happen in them than in other parts. For example, the terrorist
attacks in 2001 happened in a heavily populated area where it would affect the most people. The same
can be said for natural disasters. There is a section of the U.S. literally nicknamed Tornado Alley in the
Midwest due to its likelihood over other parts to be hit with tornadoes. Knowing these statistics about
our country, one would think that a city such as New Orleans or states such as Louisiana or
Mississippi who are located well under sea level to be more prepared for flooding and ... Show more

PUA 440 4 Thad W. Allen replaced Michael Brown as head of FEMA with a much more colored
background in natural disaster management. New experiences paired with the team already in place
within FEMA may be just the team needed to have more diverse and foreseeing management than that
of pre Katrina (Stephens et al., 2007 p. 250). Another alternative to being more prepared both
structurally and proactively would be the reconstruction of cities under major threat to the attack of
natural disasters. Just as Californian government takes into account structures or areas of land that
would be more or less compatible with society if a natural disaster such as an earthquake were to
occur; the same could be said for hurricane warning states. Instead of the Superdome being an
ultimate fallback at best for a safe haven for hurricane conditions, shelters that are hurricane sound
should be built through areas such as New Orleans. Building these structures may be expensive, but as

The four groups of crocodilians are alligators, caimans, gharials, and crocodiles.
What are main characteristics of crocodilian habitats?
Watery habitats such as lakes and rivers
Prefer freshwater habitats
American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)
Lives in freshwater swamps and marshes, and also in rivers and lakes. They can tolerate a little bit of
salt but prefer fresh water. They can tolerate freezing weather for short periods of time but are better
off in warmer weather. To live better in this weather, the alligator builds burrows to hide from the
weather.
Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus)

different types of places, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From studying modern crocodilians we can make inferences/draw conclusions about SuperCroc that
can confirm a scientist s hypothesis. For example, both SuperCroc and the gharial have a bulla, and
from the modern day gharial, scientists inferred that the SuperCroc used its bulla for making noises.
g. What can SuperCroc fossils teach us about modern crocodilians?
These fossils can show us more about the family tree of modern crocodilians and how they evolved.
For modern species: habitat, geographical distribution, diet, appearance, size, and other behaviors
Indian Gharial
Habitat: Gharials live in rivers. They especially like calm areas of deep rivers. They like to gather on
the sandbanks of the rivers to bask and to nest, but mostly they don t go onto dry land because they
can t lift their bodies off of the ground.
Geographical Distribution: Indian Gharials live in India and Nepal. It is possible that they lived
historically in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Myanmar.
Diet: Adult gharials eat exclusively fish, although young will also eat small insects and frogs. The
gharial s snout is thin so that it can move through the water easily, and their teeth are good for holding
on to the fish even if it is struggling.
Appearance: The gharial has a unique long, thin snout. Males have a bulbous growth on their snouts
that is used during courtship. They have sharp teeth that interlock. Males are about 5 meters long
(about 16 feet). Because of the type of

Repercussions Of Child Abuse Essay
Repercussions of child abuse and measures taken
Madam Yap was outraged after she discovered scratches and reddened ears on her daughter s face
when she picked her up from her nursery, Chiltern House at Forum shopping mall on May 22.
Madam Yap tried asking her daughter about what caused the marks on her face but she refused to say
anything. She kept making the action of zipping her mouth and said, cannot say, cannot say . But after
assurance from her mother that she will not tell anybody, her daughter revealed that her nursery
teacher had brought her and another girl from her class in to the diaper changing room and pulled their
ears and rubbed their faces roughly forcing them to say they liked her as a teacher.
Madam Yap then contacted the other daughter s mother, addressed as Madam Tan and upon
examination on her daughter also found the same marks as indicated by Madam Yap. Madam Yap
made a police report when she brought her child for a check up at KK Women s and Children s
Hospital and brought up the matter along with other parents on May 25 to the school s principal. ...

Selfishness In The Grapes Of Wrath And Raging Bull
The Dangerous Effects of Selfishness within The Grapes of Wrath and Raging Bull John Steinbeck
and Martin Scorsese passionately created The Grapes of Wrath and Raging Bull regarding the art of
selfishness in an attempt to recreate problems that society faces today. In today s society, the word
selfishness is a synonym of evil; the image it produces is of a fierce animal who tramples over others
in order to achieve their goals, who cares for no one, and lives only to gratify their immediate needs.
In some instances selfishness is well founded and it s use could be justified, however, in The Grapes
of Wrath and Raging Bull, that is not the case. Often selfishness is seen as one sided affecting only the
victim but in both the movie and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Selfishness will most often result in someone being hurt; however The Grapes of Wrath shows how
others selfishness can hurt those in need, while Raging Bull shows how the selfishness of a human
could result in his despair. The Grapes of Wrath shows the reader how being self centered blinds you
to the struggles that others face and could lead them to ultimate failure. The novel follows the journey
of the Tom Joad and his family for the majority of the story. As they travel south in the hope of a
better life they experience obstacles that appear to stop them from achieving their goal. In The Grapes
of Wrath the futility of the family s success is brought on by others fighting against them; not
economic and environmental issues like the reader would rightly assume. They consistently face
selfish beings that are trying to get themselves ahead without thinking of the effect it could have on
the poor family. All throughout the novel Steinbeck is showing the reader how humans incessantly
steal from each other in order to get ahead. The car salesman in Chapter 7 sell migrants broken cars
for high prices; knowing they are unable to refuse because of their determination to move south as
well as most of them being evicted from their

Thales was the First Recorded Philosopher from Miletus
Thinkers within the realm of philosophy possessed a different train of thought that allowed them to
make massive discoveries. Thales is regarded as the first recorded philosopher from Miletus. He
believed reality was defined by water. Water rests on earth, reflects objects, and conforms to the shape
of other objects. During what we call the ancient period, 600 300 BCE, communities lived by water
supplies. Water is necessary to have the ability to obtain other means of survival. As opposed to
referring to religion, Thales rejected the concept of Gods on Mount Olympus. The reality beyond
mythology for Thales relied on the basis of water. Thales touched base with the concept of knowledge
through observing and perceiving the way water functioned around him.
Opposed to Thales, Anaximander perceived reality to be apeiron. Apeiron is defined as the indefinite.
Anaximander believed the origin (arkhe) of reality to be divine and eternal while containing and
guiding all within it. For him, water was too concrete of an object to be divine. In addition, remaining
opposite elements triumphs water. Anaximander reasoned even if water were reality, it lacks in areas
that makes it unable to be divine. Apeiron is an indefinite reality that is beyond the fixed matters on
Earth. Anaximenes rejected this theory. In turn he contradicted that physics translated into objects
surrounding us. The concept of aer does not refer to the air we breath rather a thick mist containing
two processes:

Aristotle And Aristotle s Philosophy
Both Plato and Aristotle were prominent philosophers during their time and even today remain some
of the most well known philosophers ever. Aristotle was a student of Plato s and Plato s influence was
noticeable throughout Aristotle s work. Though Aristotle believed and would later teach a lot of
Platonic philosophy, that did not mean that he agreed with everything that Plato taught. One thing that
Aristotle would critique about Plato s teaching was his idea of what he called Forms and their role in
the world. Although both Aristotle and Plato believed that something s form helped classify what it is,
I found Aristotle s understanding of form to be more convincing because he believed that Forms
consisted within the one world in which we all already live as opposed to Plato who thought that the
world of Forms was separate from the world of everything else. Both men make very compelling
points to back up their beliefs, but I just felt Aristotle s theory was more believable.
For Plato, the sense of the forms was about the understanding of something higher. Plato believed that,
when one beholds the Forms, one exercises Pure Reason, and one is like the liberated prisoner [from
the allegory of the cave] who gazed upon the trees and mountains in the sunlit upper world (Palmer
67). Palmer simplified Plato s conception of the forms in saying that, Forms are the eternal truths that
are the source of all Reality (Palmer 67). One example that Plato used to show this was by

Health Care for Migrant Farm Workers Essay
Although agriculture is one of the most hazardous jobs in the United States, there is a huge gap in
healthcare for those that work in the industry. Due to the large migrant and seasonal worker
population, especially those from Mexico, it is a hard population to reach when it comes to healthcare
needs. Fear, language barriers and cultural norms are all barriers that need to be addressed for this
special population. (Holmes 2011) Agriculture is one of the most hazardous occupations in the United
States. In 2000, there were 780 deaths and 130,000 disabling injuries in agriculture. The only industry
that had more deaths was construction, with 1,220. (Hansen and Donohoe 2003) Migrant workers face

unique worker population. (Wang, Myers et al. 2011) Those that experience food insecurity and
hunger are at an increased risk for occupational injury and illness when compared to those that were
food secure. (Borre, Ertle et al. 2010)Food insecurity by definition is the lack of access at all times to
enough food for an active and healthy lifestyle due to socioeconomic and environmental barriers.
Hunger is the lack of access to sufficient food and eating regularly to prevent both stomach pain and
the desire to eat. (Borre, Ertle et al. 2010) Out of the study participants, 63.8% were found to be food
insecure and 34.7% of those experienced hunger. (Borre, Ertle et al. 2010)In addition to studying food
insecurity and hunger, this paper also looked at the prevalence of overweight and obesity in the
children of these farm workers. The majority of interviewed participants cited that they were
concerned about obesity and the related health problems. It was found that food secure families were
more likely to have children with overweight and obesity than those families that were food insecure.
This study illustrates the extreme health disparities related to diet in the MSFW population that needs
to be addressed. The Migrant Head Start Program, a health promotion program in North

Fully Driverless Cars
The article I choose from WSJ this week is the developing of fully driverless cars. Back when I was in
high school, everyone was excited to get their driving license and drive to school instead of riding the
bus. But of course we had to complete the driver education class to get a permit before actually being
fully able to drive alone at certain hours of the day. Now, thinking about it, my children probably won
t even need a license, ever. They would even need to learn how to drive. Five years from now, Ford
plans to release a fully driverless car without a steering wheel or pedals. Can you imagine not having
control of something taking you places at different speeds, and having to fully trust other drivers on
the highway with you? Will the

John Malcolm Fraser Research Paper
John Malcolm Fraser was an Australian politician who was the 22nd Prime Minister of Australia and
the Leader of the Liberal Party from 1975 to 1983. On the 16th of december, 1976, was the enactment
of Aboriginal Land rights (Northern Territory) Act. This act secured the Aboriginal right to their
ancestors land. This act is significant in that it was the first of the Aboriginal land rights acts, allowing
for a claim of title if claimants can provide evidence of their traditional association with land. His
motivation, contribution and involvement has still not to this day been forgotten by the Aboriginal
people.
Malcolm Fraser did not believe that Aboriginals were being treated fairly and this showed in his
contribution to the Aboriginal Land rights act. The Northern Land Council s chairman, Mr Samuel
Bush Blanasi, said Mr Fraser was a great friend of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory. Mr

took some important measures in terms of the protection of the Australian environment. It was the
Fraser government that prohibited exploration and drilling on the Great Barrier Reef. The Aboriginals
would have looked very highly on him for this, as he is involved in saving their land. By providing
legal title and a measure of control over some of our traditional lands, the Act has allowed us to

The Presidential Election Of 2016 Essay
The presidential election of 2016 shocked people across America after Donald Trump won the
election. Many people questioned how such a candidate could run for office, much less hold one of the
most powerful positions on Earth. In attempting to uncover how Trump could be victorious in an
electoral race against Hillary Clinton, this paper will analyze four key factors in a general election: the
fundamentals, campaigns, the media, and the voters. Each factor provides insight on how Trump was
able to be successful in his pursuit of the presidency, but they do not begin to tell the complete tale.
Political science research stresses the importance of the fundamentals in an election, if candidates can
successfully take advantage of them. The fundamentals refer to a group of three factors that serve as
background to the campaign and are variables that the candidate themselves cannot change. According
to Gary Jacobson and many other political scientists, the fundamentals of any campaign are the
incumbency of any candidate or party, the current state of the economy, and the popularity of the
president. The presence of an open seat during a presidential race strongly affects the election. Races
with an open presidential seat are much more competitive, as incumbent candidates possess a very
strong advantage. In the past eight elections featuring an incumbent candidate, seven have been won
by the incumbent (Campbell 2016). Further, it is even more difficult for a party to extend its

Oedipus And The Wife Of Bath Comparison
Life is a Tragedy for those who feel, and a Comedy for those who think said Jean De La Bruyere. Like
in Oedipus, Oedipus feels all the pain when he learned the truth. In The Wife of Bath, the knight think
through his decision making when the aged women ask him to pick a question. A tragedy is about
human potentiality, while comedy is about the struggle between the youth and the old. Although
comedy and tragedy both have character s flaw, comedy and tragedy are completely contradictory.
One starts off with a fall and another starts off with a raise. One story the main protagonist affects all
of his people with his mistakes and the other does not. The ending in the genre also ends completely
opposite from when it started. In Oedipus and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He began to continue the search for the truth which eventually lead him to his doom. A person he calls
mother and wife did suicide and he stabbed his eyes so that he would not know the truth. The story
ends sorrowfully without anything splendid. On the other hand, In The Wife of Bath, the knight started
off doing something sinful; he rapes a virgin. Throughout the story, he went through a journey that
made him realize his mistakes and learned from it. He then encountered an elderly lady that wanted to
marry him. At first he did not want to marry someone that he refers to aged and ugly . She then
challenged him with a question if he wants to marry a young, beautiful lady that is not faithful or an
aged, ugly women that will be faithful. He surrenders in defeat and said whatever pleased her is what
he wants. The knight learned to respect a woman s choice because he did not respect women in the
beginning of the story. After he learned his lesson, he got what he wanted; to marry a beautiful girl and
she saved him from his sins. The ending and beginning of tragedy is completely opposite from how
the story starts and end. A another major difference in comedy and tragedy is how the protagonist

ends up affecting the people around him. When Oedipus discovered the truth about what happened,

In order to complete the experiment the values for Kp were needed as shown at the end of the previous
section. The method of simplify the block diagram in section 1.2 to the final transfer function equation
is shown below:
Ts= KpKmKθτS+1s+KpKmKθ
Then by substituting in values for Km, Kθ and τ, gives:

Robert Frost sHome Burial, By Robert Frost
Home Burial
Robert Frost s poem Home Burial speaks of the tragedies in a couple s life. The theme of Home Burial
is centered around the death of a child. During the time period in which this poem took place it seems
that men did not show their feelings well. Home Burial demonstrates how one tragedy can cause
another to occur. The couple in this poem has lost a baby to death. The mother is grieving and it seems
she doesn t recover from this loss; parents who lose a child never forget, but most people do find ways
to cope and move on in life. The baby is buried in the family burial site and can be seen from a
window in the couple s home. Day after day she goes to the stairway window looking at the family
plot. Looking at the place where her child s body is buried continues the sadness she feels. But,
another emotion is contained in this wife and mother and that is anger and bitterness at her husband.
At first, the reason for her anger seems unknown. The reasoning starts to show when it says she
refused him any help, with the least stiffening of her neck and silence. (lines13 14) Their dialogue is
cold. What is it what? /Just that I see. / You don t, she challenged. /Tell me what it is. (lines18 19). In
the husband s first couple of lines and his last one, his attitude toward his wife seems insensitive. First

Gun Control as Related to Mass Shootings in Inner Cities Rough Draft 2 There have been copious
events throughout time in which people have been killed by the use of firearms. Embedded within
these tragedies are incidents in which numerous people lost their lives almost simultaneously. After
the initial reactions of shock and sorrow, anger and frustration begin to set in and we look to assign
blame for the evil that has occurred (Domenech). Gun control advocates argue that strengthening gun
laws and banning civilian s right to use certain firearms will decrease the number of mass shootings by
limiting access to firearms. Second Amendment proponents disagree and believe that societal and
mental health issues are to blame and that law abiding citizens will lose the ability to defend
themselves from predators and government tyranny with increased gun regulations. Psychologists, law
enforcement, and many other professionals study mass shooting events to gain understanding and
develop prevention and intervention techniques. Inner cities present a unique perspective on mass
shootings due to a centralized population and access to resources. Mass shootings are evil and have
many causes. Like many, I have asked myself how some people can be so cruel to one another through
violence and lack an appreciation for the value of life. A degree of gun regulation is necessary to
protect the safety of society at large, but extreme regulation will not remove firearms from the hands

Debate Law Process
When someone passes away, their estate enters probate a court supervised process in which a deceased
individual s assets are paid towards outstanding debts and taxes, with the remainder being distributed
among their heirs. Though much is said about avoiding probate, understanding the process and laws
surrounding it is essential to ensuring you or your loved ones wishes are carried out properly. Below, a
probate lawyer from Knochel Law Offices in Bullhead City, AZ offers a basic overview of probate
law.
The Probate Process
When you die, the executor of your estate named in your will will file documents with the probate
court. If you happen to die without a will, the court will appoint an executor on your behalf. This

Disadvantages Of Humanities
I appreciate Mr. Coles essay, but as someone who s went to college once and basically starting over
due to the lack of finding a career or job in my field per say. Personally I think going deeper into the
humanities should be optional. Based on my brief tenure in the professional workforce, I didn t need
to know about The Ancient Mayan Civilization or have a need for calculus to be successful in my job.
At the same time with everything going on in the world today, I think the humanities may benefit
some of the people who are freaking out behind the history of this country they live in. If anything I d
wish there would ve been advanced home economics classes. I come from a single parent home, as
well as the first in my family to graduate college. My mother didn t know much about a budget, 401k,
Roth IRA or preparing for the future in general. When I graduated college and moved out on my own,
there was so many shocks I encountered living in the real world. I learned from my mistakes and
ignorance and now know what to teach my future children what not to do. In college my mom told me
to get a credit card to pay for my books, I had no idea I had to pay that money back monthly. I let that
debt sit almost three years, when I went to purchase a nicer car that wasn t cash, I learned about credit
and how terrible mine was. Later on I would come to realize making that purchase without a career
would have me in over my head. Sometimes to this day I wish I d kept the car I bought

An Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s short story An old man with enormous wings written in 1955 discusses an
old man who is found by two villagers named Pelayo and Elisenda in their courtyard. This particular
man is described as an old, poor man, with enormous wings, who speaks an incomprehensible dialect
with a strong sailor s voice (451). Many people think he is angel as the neighbor woman said: he s an
angel, he must have being coming for the child (Pelayo and Elisenda s newborn baby who had been
sick) but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down (452). Others like Father Gonzaga
think he is someone sent by the devil because he did not understand the language of god or how to
greet the minister (452). The doctor thinks he is a human like everyone else but what surprises him
more was that why other men didn t have wings like him (455). For Pelayo an Elisenda the angel is
actually someone who came to change their lives. The angel makes significant changes once he

When fabricated in accordance with military specifications, it should be able to withstand thermal
processing, or retort processing, and a wide temperature range sufficient enough to prevent package
damage during transportation and storage. Food packaged in a conventional can must be cooked
approximately twice as long as food contained in a retort pouch, as well. To sterilize the food
contained in either form of packaging, it must be brought up to approximately 245° F and kept there
for a specified period of time. Retort packages have a thin profile and a high ratio of surface area to
volume. Heat penetrates the food much more quickly when it only has to reach the inside of an
approximately half inch thick mass, rather than a much larger mass in a round can.
Coloring is also applied to either the exterior or interior surface of the polyester layer. While the pouch
is considered a quot;tough quot; package, it is not indestructible. The strength of the pouch and its
resistance to damage comes from its tri laminar structure. Strength of the pouch has always been an
issue for the Military, and it s difficult for some to understand that plastic can be as strong as steel, as
metal cans are usually associated with strength.

Imagery In Farenheit 451
Imagery is describing an author s use of vivid description that evokes the reader to feel as if they can
visualize the scene. In the book, imagery is portrayed by the author to make people feel like they are
in the character s shoes, specifically where Samantha is drifting off to sleep in her mom s car. The in
depth description of Samantha dozing off to sleep looking out of the window is described in this
quote, I watch the highway lights, my eyelids sinking, then the summer streetlights as the roads get
smaller and smaller, closer to home (Fitzpatrick 283). In this quote, Samantha, the main character,
describes what she sees out of the car window on her way home from her mother s meeting while she
is drifting to sleep. This is imagery because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book, exaggeration is used by the author to create a dramatic or hilarious phrase to
communicate the emotions to the reader. When Tim was describing the size of the pool at the
community center, Tim said, There s a lake in the middle of this community center (Fitzpatrick 136).
In this quote, Tim can t believe how massive the new pool is in the community center, by creating a
humorous joke. From this, we can identify that Tim is surprised about the new pool and has a funny
sense of humor. This is an exaggeration because the reader knows that there s not a lake in the middle
of the community center but because Tim exaggerated the reader knows that the pool must be massive.
The author may have included this technique to develop the characters personalities further and to
help the reader understand the characters thoughts and emotions. (165

Single payer health plan places the financing with one entity usually the government. One major
advantage of this system is that all Americans and lawful residents would be entitled to benefits
regardless of individual or family income (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Private insurance plans and
government entitlement programs (Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, and the Federal Employee Health
Benefits Program) would no longer be necessary under a single payer system, although the for some
private insurance will remain for those desiring coverage beyond what a basic government plan might
offer (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Health care providers would be reimbursed on a fee for service
scale (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutional facilities would
be given an annual prospective budget to provide all required care (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572).
Single payer system has to offer two things that are important are having coverage for all individuals
in the United States and the money spent on health care was budgeted. There is other ways that have
been tried or discussed and they would be piecemeal, managed competition, play or pay, and
employee mandate, although those do not necessarily provide coverage to all individuals. There are
down sides to a universal plan that would be change,

Spanish and French Monarchial Beliefs
The palace of Versailles was built by Louis XIV of France (1643 1715), and the Escorial was built by
Philip II of Spain (1556 1598). By examining the aerial and frontal facades of these two palaces, it
may be seen that there were many similarities and differences between the two kings perception and
practice of monarchy. Each king set his own goals for his life, and concluded as to how a monarch
ought to behave. Both Louis XIV and Philip II had religious duties to pay attention to, organized the
distribution of power in their respective kingdoms, communicated with other countries and entities
through war and diplomacy, raised militaries, and made plans for the expansion of their own beliefs,
thoughts and practices. Aside from these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis XIV preferred to delegate power to new nobles, or affluent bourgeois who had recently received
their noble status from the king. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet had enough
time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Philip II, however, did
not diversify the existing hierarchy of power, but embraced it. Upon the building of the Escorial, many
new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman
Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the
existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the
church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the
clergy. (Even if there was a large religious influence at Versailles, by the Pragmatic Sanction of
Bourges (1438), the ‘Galician church was politically independent from the Holy See.) br br Louis
XIV and Philip II had some similar and some different methods for handling foreign affairs. Louis
XIV deployed the French army against many different peoples, being always at war or preparing for
war in order to keep peace at home, and war abroad. Philip II also deployed his armies against various
people, however, he did so in order to expand the boundaries of Catholicism. Concerning diplomatic
relations, Louis XIV was much more involved than

The Importance Of Tourism In France
France is one of Europe s largest countries. This country is bordered by six other countries Germany,
Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Also France attracts a lot of tourist, because of
its fine dining, wonderful landmarks, and islands. The french revolution was when the Monarchy was
displaced and a complete reestablishment was forced upon the
Roman Catholic Church. This revolution began in 1789 and ended about the late 1790s.
These are most places tourist come to see in France. In Paris you have the Eiffel Tower,
Notre Dame, Louvre, and many other wonderful places. In Versailles, there is a castle of French kings
literally it s a castle of the royal family, who were all french kings. They died and wanted to be the
only people to live in that royal castle. Cote d Azur has turquoise blue sea and great beaches, that
means clean nice water, you get to walk on the warm crystal sand, etc. However, there are many more
exciting places and other things to see in France like historical landmarks.
Did you know Paris is known as the love city? Because a lot of couples come there yearly and spend
time together, and just enjoy the love filled air. This country costs a lot of money to go here. For a
person who s on a budget it costs about $53.13 per person. For a person who s in the middle with their

Contextual Theory Of Interethnic Communication Theory
The distinction of the differences or similarities between the communicator and conversational
partners can influence whether they chose to engage in association or dissociation. These
dissimilarities and resemblances help to shape our perceptions of each other. Through the analysis of
ethnic proximity, ethnic distance, shared goal structure, separate goal structure, and personal network
integration, the situation layer of Kim s Interethnic Theory will be explored.
A Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication As conceptualized by Young Yun Kim, the
interethnic communication theory describes the multifaceted layers and factors in communication
event. Described as an open system, interethnic communication occurs between communicators and
their interactant(s) who possess characteristic similarities or differences in terms of their ethnic or
identity markers (Kim, 2005). There are four layers to her theory: behavior, communicator, situation,
and environment. All of these layers contribute to how the communicator and their interactant decides
to interact, whether it is associative or dissociative. This paper will focus on the situation layer.
Implanted between the environment and communicator layer, the situation layer represents the
interethnic encounter itself (Kim, 2005, p. 334). Essentially, it is describing the interaction between
the communicator and their conversational partner(s). In this context, the communication can take
form in many ways (e.g., verbal,

The Heart Of The Lungs
The Lungs are a part of every living human and animal that exist today. The lungs are classified as one
of the hardest working organs in the body, besides the heart. They can expand and contract up to 20
times a minute or more to provide oxygen to be distributed to tissues in all parts of the body. They are
considered to be the largest organ in the body. Taking up over forty percent of the chest cavity. Due to
the size, we can only have two. The heart takes up the other space in the upper cavity. Each lung is
made up of a sponge like material of tissue. They have been divided up into sections called lobes. The
right lung has three lobes and the left lung only has two. These are called the superior, middle, and
inferior. The average size of the lungs is 11 in. in length. Most normal adult human s lungs are about
the same size. The normal lungs have an average weight of 234 grams or so. The weight depends a lot
on the health of the lung. The average pair of human lungs can hold about 5 liters of air.
Approximately, a healthy human can breathe up to 24480 times in a day. The lungs are red color
because it is smooth muscles. It is made of all muscle tissue. The job of my organ is to take oxygen
from the air and carbon dioxide is exchange. It does its job with the millions tiny grape likes cells that
are called alveoli, which allows oxygen to seep into the capillaries or the thin wall that air sacs where
carbon dioxide exchange take place.

Salmonell A Common Bacteria
The importance of doing this investigation was necessary as this microorganism, Salmonella is a
common bacteria encountered in daily life. Salmonella is a bacterium that is found in a wide variety of
animals and mammals (Weese and Fulford, 2011). Gram negative bacteria exhibit appendages on
outer surfaces known as pili (Lo et al., 2014). The pili is also named fimbriae, these are chains of
protein that form filaments that extend from the outer surface of bacterial cells enabling them to
adhere to any host target cell (Proft and Baker, 2009; Kang and Baker, 2012). This makes the pili of
clinical importance when assessing clinical manifestation; particularly in pathogenic organisms, when
developing drugs such as vaccines (Kang and Baker, 2012). Currently, the use of pili in vaccine
development is widespread in research (Wizeman et al, 1999). This suggests that the pilus is the basic
structural subunit in all bacterial cells. Studying Salmonella is vital in understanding how SafD
operates and possible clinical problems posed to individuals, due to the different strains of the
bacterium that have been previously discovered. Although Salmonella has been identified and
classified into different classifications, it has undergone multiple changes and the main nomenclature
system is yet to be established (Chiu, Lin Hui, 2014). The genus which Salmonella belongs to is
known as the Enterobacteriaceae family (Chu and Su, 2004; Farmer, 1995). Salmonella is a gram

Pros And Cons Of Water Desalination
Water is the nerve of life. It affects the food, energy, environment and health of billions of people
living on the planet earth. Large populations living in vast arid areas around the world suffer from
water scarcity. With exceedingly limited resources of water, about 200 million people distribute the
Arab countries in North Africa, and the Middle East depends mainly on fossil groundwater that is a
non renewable resource. However, modern technology provides them a gift Desalination it is the
technique of removing salt and other impurities from seawater in order to make it suitable for human

Approximately 75% of the Arab population live below the water scarcity level, half of them live under
the level of 500 m3/cap./year (UNISCO 2015, p78). Some argue that people live in this region can
rely on groundwater. However, groundwater is already exhausted and under high pressure by the
growing population. Moreover, boreholes and wells are vulnerable to quality reduction, pollution and
seawater infiltration (Alghariani 2003). Accordingly, people should depend on desalination as a
reliable and practical alternative. For Example, recent estimates indicate that up to 25 million m3 of
desalinated water produce daily worldwide, of which almost two thirds the production and 77% of all
Desalination plants located within countries of the Middle East and North Africa (Lattemann and
Höpner 2008). Another example, Qatar is an Arabian country with nearly no water (74 mm/year of
precipitation rain). However, the water consumption in this country considered among the highest
(430 L./cap./year) worldwide, and almost all water come from Desalination (Al Attiya 2012). In short,
for water scarcity regions such as Arab region, desalination will be the best sustainable and secure

The Financial Collapse Of 2008
After the financial collapse of 2008, the mortgage environment changed dramatically for both buyers
and brokers. In order to protect consumers and raise confidence in the market, the Federal Reserve
Board introduced regulations that limited what banks and mortgage originators could do such as
curtailing certain business practices and imposing stricter requirements on capital. However, these
actions have unintentionally affected broker competition, causing big banks to exit the housing
market, which has led to the proliferation of shadow banks and higher risk practices. These unforeseen
consequences could potentially put the housing market at risk by creating a negative environment for
consumers instead.
The new regulations that were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This prevents mortgage brokers and loan officers from steering consumers into considering riskier
loans in order to earn higher compensation. The regulations also removed the incentives that would
entice brokers to push consumers into higher yield plans by prohibiting brokers from sharing
commissions with loan officers, who must be paid a salary.
While the Federal Reserve had the intention of eliminating these unethical lending practices, the result
was a deterrence from the independent mortgage business overall. Without the prospect of earning
commissions, loan officers lose incentive of accepting deals that would take relatively longer periods
of time to close. They would be paid the same rate regardless of the kind of loan they make to
borrowers. Furthermore, the regulations also have an important consequence when considered with
the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, where under section 1413 of the
Dodd Frank Act, which states that any violation of the loan originator compensation rules will offer
the borrower a defense to foreclosure for the life of the loan (Smith, 2011). Under this rule, a
delinquent borrower can potentially prevent his or her lender from foreclosing on a loan if the
borrower finds a violation of the compensation rules under Regulation Z. Consequently, large banks
would be deterred from buying mortgages with

Instead of the Superdome being an ultimate fallback at best for a safe haven for hurricane conditions, shelters that are hurricane sound should be built through areas such as New Orleans. Building these structures may be expensive, but as compared to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Selfishness In The Grapes Of Wrath And Raging Bull The Dangerous Effects of Selfishness within The Grapes of Wrath and Raging Bull John Steinbeck and Martin Scorsese passionately created The Grapes of Wrath and Raging Bull regarding the art of selfishness in an attempt to recreate problems that society faces today. In today s society, the word selfishness is a synonym of evil; the image it produces is of a fierce animal who tramples over others in order to achieve their goals, who cares for no one, and lives only to gratify their immediate needs. In some instances selfishness is well founded and it s use could be justified, however, in The Grapes of Wrath and Raging Bull, that is not the case. Often selfishness is seen as one sided affecting only the victim but in both the movie and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Selfishness will most often result in someone being hurt; however The Grapes of Wrath shows how others selfishness can hurt those in need, while Raging Bull shows how the selfishness of a human could result in his despair. The Grapes of Wrath shows the reader how being self centered blinds you to the struggles that others face and could lead them to ultimate failure. The novel follows the journey of the Tom Joad and his family for the majority of the story. As they travel south in the hope of a better life they experience obstacles that appear to stop them from achieving their goal. In The Grapes of Wrath the futility of the family s success is brought on by others fighting against them; not economic and environmental issues like the reader would rightly assume. They consistently face selfish beings that are trying to get themselves ahead without thinking of the effect it could have on the poor family. All throughout the novel Steinbeck is showing the reader how humans incessantly steal from each other in order to get ahead. The car salesman in Chapter 7 sell migrants broken cars for high prices; knowing they are unable to refuse because of their determination to move south as well as most of them being evicted from their ... • 9. Thales was the First Recorded Philosopher from Miletus Thinkers within the realm of philosophy possessed a different train of thought that allowed them to make massive discoveries. Thales is regarded as the first recorded philosopher from Miletus. He believed reality was defined by water. Water rests on earth, reflects objects, and conforms to the shape of other objects. During what we call the ancient period, 600 300 BCE, communities lived by water supplies. Water is necessary to have the ability to obtain other means of survival. As opposed to referring to religion, Thales rejected the concept of Gods on Mount Olympus. The reality beyond mythology for Thales relied on the basis of water. Thales touched base with the concept of knowledge through observing and perceiving the way water functioned around him. Opposed to Thales, Anaximander perceived reality to be apeiron. Apeiron is defined as the indefinite. Anaximander believed the origin (arkhe) of reality to be divine and eternal while containing and guiding all within it. For him, water was too concrete of an object to be divine. In addition, remaining opposite elements triumphs water. Anaximander reasoned even if water were reality, it lacks in areas that makes it unable to be divine. Apeiron is an indefinite reality that is beyond the fixed matters on Earth. Anaximenes rejected this theory. In turn he contradicted that physics translated into objects surrounding us. • 10. Aristotle And Aristotle s Philosophy Both Plato and Aristotle were prominent philosophers during their time and even today remain some of the most well known philosophers ever. Aristotle was a student of Plato s and Plato s influence was noticeable throughout Aristotle s work. Though Aristotle believed and would later teach a lot of Platonic philosophy, that did not mean that he agreed with everything that Plato taught. One thing that Aristotle would critique about Plato s teaching was his idea of what he called Forms and their role in the world. Although both Aristotle and Plato believed that something s form helped classify what it is, I found Aristotle s understanding of form to be more convincing because he believed that Forms consisted within the one world in which we all already live as opposed to Plato who thought that the world of Forms was separate from the world of everything else. Both men make very compelling points to back up their beliefs, but I just felt Aristotle s theory was more believable. For Plato, the sense of the forms was about the understanding of something higher. Plato believed that, when one beholds the Forms, one exercises Pure Reason, and one is like the liberated prisoner [from the allegory of the cave] who gazed upon the trees and mountains in the sunlit upper world (Palmer 67). Palmer simplified Plato s conception of the forms in saying that, Forms are the eternal truths that are the source of all Reality (Palmer 67). One example that Plato used to show this was by ... Due to the large migrant and seasonal worker population, especially those from Mexico, it is a hard population to reach when it comes to healthcare needs. Fear, language barriers and cultural norms are all barriers that need to be addressed for this special population. • 17. The Presidential Election Of 2016 Essay The presidential election of 2016 shocked people across America after Donald Trump won the election. Many people questioned how such a candidate could run for office, much less hold one of the most powerful positions on Earth. In attempting to uncover how Trump could be victorious in an electoral race against Hillary Clinton, this paper will analyze four key factors in a general election: the fundamentals, campaigns, the media, and the voters. Each factor provides insight on how Trump was able to be successful in his pursuit of the presidency, but they do not begin to tell the complete tale. Political science research stresses the importance of the fundamentals in an election, if candidates can successfully take advantage of them. The fundamentals refer to a group of three factors that serve as background to the campaign and are variables that the candidate themselves cannot change. According to Gary Jacobson and many other political scientists, the fundamentals of any campaign are the incumbency of any candidate or party, the current state of the economy, and the popularity of the president. The presence of an open seat during a presidential race strongly affects the election. Races with an open presidential seat are much more competitive, as incumbent candidates possess a very strong advantage. In the past eight elections featuring an incumbent candidate, seven have been won by the incumbent (Campbell 2016). Further, it is even more difficult for a party to extend its ... Home Burial demonstrates how one tragedy can cause another to occur. The couple in this poem has lost a baby to death. Embedded within these tragedies are incidents in which numerous people lost their lives almost simultaneously. After the initial reactions of shock and sorrow, anger and frustration begin to set in and we look to assign blame for the evil that has occurred (Domenech). Gun control advocates argue that strengthening gun laws and banning civilian s right to use certain firearms will decrease the number of mass shootings by limiting access to firearms. Second Amendment proponents disagree and believe that societal and mental health issues are to blame and that law abiding citizens will lose the ability to defend themselves from predators and government tyranny with increased gun regulations. Psychologists, law enforcement, and many other professionals study mass shooting events to gain understanding and develop prevention and intervention techniques. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet had enough time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Upon the building of the Escorial, many new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the clergy. • 38. Contextual Theory Of Interethnic Communication Theory The distinction of the differences or similarities between the communicator and conversational partners can influence whether they chose to engage in association or dissociation. These dissimilarities and resemblances help to shape our perceptions of each other. Through the analysis of ethnic proximity, ethnic distance, shared goal structure, separate goal structure, and personal network integration, the situation layer of Kim s Interethnic Theory will be explored. A Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication As conceptualized by Young Yun Kim, the interethnic communication theory describes the multifaceted layers and factors in communication event. Described as an open system, interethnic communication occurs between communicators and their interactant(s) who possess characteristic similarities or differences in terms of their ethnic or identity markers (Kim, 2005). There are four layers to her theory: behavior, communicator, situation, and environment. All of these layers contribute to how the communicator and their interactant decides to interact, whether it is associative or dissociative. This paper will focus on the situation layer. Implanted between the environment and communicator layer, the situation layer represents the interethnic encounter itself (Kim, 2005, p. 334). Essentially, it is describing the interaction between the communicator and their conversational partner(s). In this context, the communication can take form in many ways (e.g., verbal, ... • 39. The Heart Of The Lungs The Lungs are a part of every living human and animal that exist today. The lungs are classified as one of the hardest working organs in the body, besides the heart. They can expand and contract up to 20 times a minute or more to provide oxygen to be distributed to tissues in all parts of the body. They are considered to be the largest organ in the body. Taking up over forty percent of the chest cavity. Due to the size, we can only have two. The heart takes up the other space in the upper cavity. Each lung is made up of a sponge like material of tissue. They have been divided up into sections called lobes. The right lung has three lobes and the left lung only has two. These are called the superior, middle, and inferior. The average size of the lungs is 11 in. in length. Most normal adult human s lungs are about the same size. The normal lungs have an average weight of 234 grams or so. The weight depends a lot on the health of the lung. The average pair of human lungs can hold about 5 liters of air. Approximately, a healthy human can breathe up to 24480 times in a day. The lungs are red color because it is smooth muscles. It is made of all muscle tissue. • 40. Salmonell A Common Bacteria The importance of doing this investigation was necessary as this microorganism, Salmonella is a common bacteria encountered in daily life. Salmonella is a bacterium that is found in a wide variety of animals and mammals (Weese and Fulford, 2011). Gram negative bacteria exhibit appendages on outer surfaces known as pili (Lo et al., 2014). The pili is also named fimbriae, these are chains of protein that form filaments that extend from the outer surface of bacterial cells enabling them to adhere to any host target cell (Proft and Baker, 2009; Kang and Baker, 2012). This makes the pili of clinical importance when assessing clinical manifestation; particularly in pathogenic organisms, when developing drugs such as vaccines (Kang and Baker, 2012). Currently, the use of pili in vaccine development is widespread in research (Wizeman et al, 1999). This suggests that the pilus is the basic structural subunit in all bacterial cells. Studying Salmonella is vital in understanding how SafD operates and possible clinical problems posed to individuals, due to the different strains of the bacterium that have been previously discovered. Although Salmonella has been identified and classified into different classifications, it has undergone multiple changes and the main nomenclature system is yet to be established (Chiu, Lin Hui, 2014). The genus which Salmonella belongs to is known as the Enterobacteriaceae family (Chu and Su, 2004; Farmer, 1995). Salmonella is a gram negative rod shaped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Large populations living in vast arid areas around the world suffer from water scarcity. With exceedingly limited resources of water, about 200 million people distribute the Arab countries in North Africa, and the Middle East depends mainly on fossil groundwater that is a non renewable resource. Approximately 75% of the Arab population live below the water scarcity level, half of them live under the level of 500 m3/cap./year (UNISCO 2015, p78). Some argue that people live in this region can rely on groundwater. However, groundwater is already exhausted and under high pressure by the growing population. Moreover, boreholes and wells are vulnerable to quality reduction, pollution and seawater infiltration (Alghariani 2003). Accordingly, people should depend on desalination as a reliable and practical alternative. For Example, recent estimates indicate that up to 25 million m3 of desalinated water produce daily worldwide, of which almost two thirds the production and 77% of all Desalination plants located within countries of the Middle East and North Africa (Lattemann and Höpner 2008). Another example, Qatar is an Arabian country with nearly no water (74 mm/year of precipitation rain). However, the water consumption in this country considered among the highest (430 L./cap./year) worldwide, and almost all water come from Desalination (Al Attiya 2012). In short, for water scarcity regions such as Arab region, desalination will be the best sustainable and secure source of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Financial Collapse Of 2008 After the financial collapse of 2008, the mortgage environment changed dramatically for both buyers and brokers. In order to protect consumers and raise confidence in the market, the Federal Reserve Board introduced regulations that limited what banks and mortgage originators could do such as curtailing certain business practices and imposing stricter requirements on capital. However, these actions have unintentionally affected broker competition, causing big banks to exit the housing market, which has led to the proliferation of shadow banks and higher risk practices. These unforeseen consequences could potentially put the housing market at risk by creating a negative environment for consumers instead. The new regulations that were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This prevents mortgage brokers and loan officers from steering consumers into considering riskier loans in order to earn higher compensation. The regulations also removed the incentives that would entice brokers to push consumers into higher yield plans by prohibiting brokers from sharing commissions with loan officers, who must be paid a salary. While the Federal Reserve had the intention of eliminating these unethical lending practices, the result was a deterrence from the independent mortgage business overall. Without the prospect of earning commissions, loan officers lose incentive of accepting deals that would take relatively longer periods of time to close. They would be paid the same rate regardless of the kind of loan they make to borrowers. Furthermore, the regulations also have an important consequence when considered with the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, where under section 1413 of the Dodd Frank Act, which states that any violation of the loan originator compensation rules will offer the borrower a defense to foreclosure for the life of the loan (Smith, 2011). Under this rule, a delinquent borrower can potentially prevent his or her lender from foreclosing on a loan if the borrower finds a violation of the compensation rules under Regulation Z.
