Distribution
The Pacific Walrus, Odobenus rosmarus divergens, make up 90% of the world s population of
walruses while the Atlantic Walrus, Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus, and the Laptev Walrus,
Odobenus rosmarus laptevi, make up about 10% combined (Jay, 2008). The estimated population
of Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus is 10,000 19,000 (Jefferson, 2008). Walruses inhabit the relatively
shallow waters along the coast in the North Atlantic, the Bering Sea and the Artic Ocean near North
America and Eurasia (Figure 4) (Reeves, 2002). No walruses are not found in North Carolina.

Habitat
Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus inhabits artic waters. They usually are seen on islands in the artic
and on floating sheets of ice called ice floes. They are also usually found and seen in groups
called herds (Burt, 1952). Atlantic walrus need large open bodies of water that are shallow, less
than 80m, because those areas are usually rich in clams and invertebrates for them to eat. Walrus
also need ice or land nearby so they can haul out of the water. In the summer and fall when the ice
is scarce, they will haul out in large groups near low rocky shores (DFO, 2017).

woman or her family struggling because they re being refused maternity leave it breaks our
hearts. These women, expecting mothers, have to carry or have carried a child for roughly 9
months. Most if not all have done so by being on their feet all day and have only had the required
minimum for breaks. Is it then wrong to ask for maternity leave? Should pregnant women not be
allowed some work accommodations? Well, contrary to popular belief, maternity leave is more
than just a time for a woman s gestation period or relaxation. In a country with a population of
more than 308 million women I think maternity should be a right. So, then who is to blame for
the lack of maternity leave? The answer: male bosses. It s thanks to these bosses that once
women are mothers, they have to go back to work as soon as possible. All these new mothers are
told by their male bosses that they are expected back as soon as they can. These men allow little
to no maternity leave for women in the work force. And I think we can all agree that this is a
serious issue for our nation. There must be a solution to this detrimental illness afflicting our

/debates where we were arguing back and forth about what is art and what is not art. Many

My Teaching Philosophy Of Teaching For Physical Education
EPE 100 has not only taught me so much about becoming a teacher but a ton about myself. Prior
to EPE 100, I felt as though I had a solid understanding of what it meant to be a physical education
teacher. Do a quick warm up, Rally the students, put them into teams, explain the rules and let them
go at it. Man oh man was I wrong. Throughout readings, assignments, and practice I now believe to
have a much better understanding of what it means to be a physical educationteacher. There has
been three major ideas that have begun to influence my teachingphilosophy; Teaching for physical
literacy and skill development not just sports, embracing physical activity as a lifelong journey
and challenging all students inside and outside of the classroom. These three concepts are very
important to me as I begin my teaching career and are the three highlights in which I took out of
EPE 100. It took me a very poor micro teaching experience to finally understand that physical

There was another philosopher in the seventeenth century who has a similar system and a possibly
more coherent system then Margaret Cavendish. Baruch Spinoza has a very unique monistic
system. Spinoza lays out a system consisting of one infinite substance with infinite attributes. The
two attributes which we can know are thought and extension. I will argue that the attribute of
thought and the attribute of extension correlate well with Cavendish s animate and inanimate
matter. I will argue that Spinoza s system is more coherent than Cavendish s and solves some of
her system s issues. If it is that case that we desire a system similar to Cavendish s then Spinoza s
system is a step in the right direction. Spinoza has a very unique style. He starts with clear
definitions and axioms. The definition and axioms he lays out are things to which most
philosophers in Europe at the time would have assented. He moves from these definitions and
axioms to propositions and proofs. He will state a proposition, and he will immediately follow that

I do believe that our modern world is curious about the supernatural, and the spiritual aspects of
life. Even looking at children s cartoon shows like Scooby doo, we can see that difference. The
old Scooby doo, there would be ghosts and monsters, but they end up being a person pretending
to be a supernatural to scare others. In modern day Scooby doo, there was a time when the ghost
