School Safety Has Become A Hot Topic
To know how open and accessible our schools used to be when I was in school, and even once I
started teaching. Through these years, school safety has become a hot topic. Safety is not only
protecting schools from predators, but also from the poorly maintained aging school buildings.
We need to find ways to make our schools accessible, and not feel like we are locked in a jail at
the same time. The buildings, especially older schools, need be closely monitored for any type of
hazard that may hurt the occupants inside. Guncontrol in the past couple years has caused much
controversy; therefore, many states have not approved teachers to carry a concealed weaponinto the
classroom. There are some people who believe this would be the answer to protecting our
students; however, there are also some who believe this will give our students a sense of fear,
they will always feel they are in danger. Finally, we also have to ensure that our children feel
emotionally safe in the classroom and not fear the idea of learning something new. There are
steal security shutters on the windows, all exterior doors are locked, and all doors within the
building must stay locked, you must check in the office and run your driver s license to get a
visitors pass, and sometimes you may have to walk through a metal detector. This is not a jail;
however, this is a schoolin today s society. In order to be considered safe, there are safety
procedures all schools must follow. The

The Business Structure Of IKEA
Business stucture
IKEA is a non profit organization which differentiates its business structure compared to other
furnishing companies. This structure gives IKEA two main advantages:
The structure prevents a hostile takeover.
Lower tax payments.
The business structure of IKEA consists of two parts: Stichting INGKA Foundationand Interogo
Foundation. Stichting INGKA foundation can be further split up into the following: Stichting
IKEA Foundation, INGKA Holding B.V. and Stiching IMAS Foundation which give advice on the
financial assets of IKEA and INGKA Holding B.V.

It is the parent company of Inter IKEA Holding S.A. in Luxembourg. The Inter IKEA Holding
S.A. is the worldwide franchisor of the IKEA concept and it owns the IKEA brand. In exchange
to open an IKEA store and use its products and brand name, every store has to pay a 3% royalty
fee over the total revenue of the store to the Inter IKEA Holding S.A.. These royalties are
directly paid from the profits of the INGKA Holding S.A.. The beneficiaries are not made public
but it is not hard to conclude that the biggest part flows directly into the hands of the Kamprad
family members since they are the only shareholders of the Inter IKEA Holding S.A.. Another
small part of the incomes goes to the Interogo Foundation. The Interogo Foundation is controlled
by a board of directors which solely exists of external board members. The Kamprad family act
as a watchdog to prevent any decision which are not in line with their vision of how IKEA
should be ruled and in which form IKEA should exist. The Interogo Foundation has the aim to
invest in the expansion and continuity of IKEA. Therefore, all the funds that are owned by the
Interogo Foundation may only be used when Inter IKEA Holding S.A. has financial problems.
The only exception for a partly withdrawal of the funds is when there has to be spend a small
amount on philanthropic charities to remain eligible as a foundation. This leads again to lower tax
payments. Due to the existence of the Inter IKEA Holding S.A. has Ingvar Kamprads plan to keep
IKEA a family business succeeded. The Kamprad family are the owners of the Inter IKEA Holding
S.A. and therefore fully control the franchise program and own the IKEA brand. This combined
with the multiple functions the members of the Kamprad family fulfil in INGKA Holding B.V. and

Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper
Mating among Seahorses
by
Tina Huang
February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into
another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of
reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution.
Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses
use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of
this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of
seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or
polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the
occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse
species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses
and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these
studies demonstrate the uniqueness of seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ...

Essay on Market Research
Market Research
Market research is to provide information that helps the business to recognise and respond to market
opportunities and to develop suitable products to marketing needs . Primary and secondary data.
There are two main sources of market research Primary and secondary sources.
Primary data.
This type of research requires obtaining new data. The marketing department gather the data by e.g.
Interviews, telephone, post, and questionnaires. Primary data may be collected in the following
ways:
Observation although this is one of the simplest methods of research it is not very efficient. The
methods consists of observing whatever is under observation to find out consumer trends.

Using this method the agency can be certain that the quotas are an accurate reflection of the total

Telephone surveys this method is less expensive and time consuming. The interviewees are likely to
have been selected from lists which are brought by market research firms and which are complied
through individual:
Living in a particular area.
Purchased a car of a certain value.
Booked a foreign holiday.
Questionnaires Manufacturers and suppliers can achieve higher responses giving away a free
gift in return for the completion of a survey. This method usually only provides a very low
response. This is a very cheap method of research, it also avoids the problem of the interviewer to
being biased and it allows more time to think about answers.
The types of questions, which are used in questionnaires.
Questionnaires are to find out about: people s opinions, factual information and judgements. The
quality of the answers depends on the quality and of the answers depends on the quality of the
questions.

Neen Cain Analysis
In the video that was assigned to us a woman by the name Tonier Neen Cain discussed her life
story and the struggles she went through. She was born into a broken family with a mother that
was an alcoholic and brutally beat her growing up. She was arrested 83 times and had 66 criminal
convictions relating to her addiction. She got pregnant in 2004, and entered into a trauma treatment
program. This program began to transform her life and the way she thought about herself. One of
the main factors that I felt made her to the lifestyle she picked was the relationship she had with her
mother. The mother wanted very little with her and her sense of self worth was greatly harmed
because of this occurrence. She would seek to find her mother s affection... Show more content on

I certainly don t believe that to be the case. I believe that there are people who face sexual abuse
and beating that turn to sports to get their frustration out on or music to sooth their soul. I
wouldn t classify everyone that endures these awful conditions to revert to drugs as their only
means of escaping. I don t believe they all become criminals but of their environment. Their have
been plenty of good people that I have met who have been the product of parents who did drugs
and were drunks that made it just fine. They went off to college and found that they wanted a
better life then what they experienced with their parents. I think that the most influential factor
is the person he or she looks up to. They need a older mentor to look up to and teach them the
right way. They need someone to invest in them so they know that someone cares about how
they are doing in life. They need to have someone to fall back on who will pick them up on their
feet and tell them its okay to fall as long as you get back up. A strong bond with someone to me
is such an important factor in how someone turns out. You have to think that while yes they may
have horrible parents they may some day be parents and have no idea what to do. They never had
a person in their life acting as a parent and therefore, they don t know how they should in that role.

Systemic Sclerosis
Vasculopathy in Systemic Sclerosis
Introduction
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a multi faceted, heterogeneous disease of unknown etiology. Despite its
high clinical variability, it is consistently characterized by three main elements: vascular alterations,
autoimmunity and progressive fibrosis. However, there is increasing evidence that SSc
pathogenesis is dominated by vascular changes, as demonstrated by numerous experimental and
clinical studies (1).
Diagnosis is made by the physician based on the presence of specific features; however, until
recently, the requirements for classifying patients as having SSc lacked sensitivity for milder or
early forms of the disease. Taking into account the pleomorphism of SSc disease manifestation, the

Comparing Dear Mama And The Song Mother To Son
Is a mothers conditional love ever fully appreciated?
The song Dear Mama by Tupac and the poem Mother To Son by Langston Hughes both proclaim
how growing up, people don not fully appreciate their mothers. They do not acknowledge what
they went through to raise them and give them the necessities of life. These two pieces express
how you have to be at your worse to cherish the best. People need to go through a low part in their
life to appreciate the people around them.
It takes a low point in someones life to fully appreciate their mother. In the song Dear Mama ,
Tupac like many people was at a low point in his life. While he was in such a depressed and low
state, that is when he started to think back to his mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem Mother To Son , Langston wants the best for her son and buts him before herself.
Throughout the poem its imagery portrays that the mother and son are climbing stairs to get to
a better place. She is encouraging her son and loving him even when she s run down. I ve been a
climbin on....So boy, don t you turn back. Don t you set down on the steps. The mother is
motivating him to make sure he lives a better life then she did. She tells her son to not sit down
on the steps which is a metaphor to her not wanting him to give up and make sure he makes it
through this hard time. She wants him to live a better life then she did. Mothers not only want
the best for their children but they will do whatever is needed to make sure their child has the
necessities to grow up. She is living in sad and poor conditions just to give her son the things he
needs for a successful childhood. The sons mother lived at places with no carpet, splinters
everywhere and boards bordered up the walls. Even in such bad conditions she never gave up on
her son. Life for me ain t been no crystal stair she repeats to her son throughout the poem which
gives the impression that her son still does not fully understand what his mom went through to raise
him. Langston is trying to explain what she has been through while still encouraging him to keep
going. Because of this dark moment they are in now, the son

Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And...
There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works
should be considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are
statements by Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the
Romantic sick . . . Most of the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it
is weak, sickly, and ill, and the old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh,
cheerful, and healthy. (Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as
this masterpiece is in two separate sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part
I and Part II differently. However, Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth
and topics and characters of the supernatural, that match the European Romanticismphilosophies.
Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and
scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives.
Upon realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies,
he strives to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of
Romanticism entails a core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to
evolve and increase their human potential. Moreover,

In Shakespeare’s Othello, Othello Is as Much a Victim of...
Oliver Parker s 1995 interpretation of Shakespeare s 1600 s timeless classic Othello presents a
differing construction of Othello from the original play, achieved through uses of a plethora of
film devices. Both the play and the film masterfully spin a tale of romance, tragedy and death
telling the fall of glory of Othellodue to the acts of his ensign Iago, albeit with several differences
in the presentation. Both Shakespeare and Parker explore themes of jealousy, power, and racism
through the key characters of Othello and Iago. Parker utilises cutting, close ups, mise en scene,
music and a variety of others to bring his own in depth dissection and construction of Othello.
In the opening scenes of the play, Othello is the noble hero, he ... Show more content on

In the entirety of the film Parker places many symbols, inferring the downfall of Othello, through
clever scenic locations and the addition of his own locations, Parker is able to provide a
different and fresh interpretation of Othello. In the film Parker is able to show Othello having
visible seizures while showing false images of Desdemona together with Cassio, allowing the
progression of Othello s collapse to be observed, in another scene Parker places Othello in a
dungeon hidden behind bars, symbolising the emergence of the dark green eyed monster from
within him. Parker integrates the plays act 3 scene 3 and turns it into a whole new entity
showing the marriage of Othello and Iago, this scene is the climax of both of the play and the
film with Othello succumbing to Iago s words that Desdemona is a whore . They form a blood
bond, this symbolising the blood shed about to occur caused by Othello insecurities being pounced
on by Iago.
Parker s film constructs a unique and unstable character of Othello, whose downfall is caused by
his insecurities being preyed upon by the malicious Iago. Both Shakespeare s and Parker s text
explore themes of power and jealousy utilising Iago and Othello as vessels for these ideas. Othello
is constructed to be a honest man, whose is obsessed with power and control, without his mask of
power, Iago plotting is able to bring upon his

The decision to build again was based on my success in making money in the stock market and a
distorted and unrealistic perspective, without conscious awareness, that I would continue making
money without my close advisors to say, not a good decisions.
Part of this mistake was driving up debt, which I never had by borrowing against stocks and later
would contribute to financial loss.

Examples Of Antigone In Dante s Inferno
In the Inferno, Dante sets up the structure of Hell which is shown as nine circles of anguish. Hell
is a place of punishment for those who intentionally chose the sinful way of life, where Heaven is
a place of recompense for those who purposefully chose the virtuous way. Before entering the first
circle of Hell, where people have committed a specific sin, there must be a place for those who
neither chose a side of righteousness or wickedness. Dante created a vestibule of Hell, a circle of
Hell that precedes the first circle of Hell, Limbo. The vestibule is home to those who were
uncommitted in life, the people who never made a decision for themselves. Having not made a
decision in life, these souls do not belong is neither Heavennor Hell.... Show more content on

The city of suffering, eternal pain, and those that are lost. The fourth line of the inscription, Justice
inspired my exalted Creator. , creates an impression that God constructed Hell for justice, not only
to see the sins of those punished, but also to rewarded those who were moral.
Dante, however, established that this hell is a creation not of the devil but of the Trinity. This is
shown where the inscription mentions I am a creature of the Holiest Power, of Wisdom in the
Highest and of Primal Love , where it represents God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Hell is of God
s making, not an independent city of rebels, but is dependent of those who rebelled against their
maker. Although hell is a place of eternal suffering, it is also a place that serves justice. The basic
meaning of the sign is that of those sinners who did not repent their sins.
Another instance of God s rule is shown with Charon, the one who ferries the souls of the
deceased across the River Acheron. Charon refuses to take Dante on to the boat since he is
living. Virgil declares that Dante s presence is of God s approval, resulting in Charon s change in
decision. Charon accepted that it was God s desire for Dante to continue, hence Charon took orders

Three Years She Gew Research Paper
The English Romantic Age, which lasted from the late 18th century to the middle of the 19th
century, was born of the ideas of William Wordsworth, British poet and author. Many critics of this
era believe that Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge s co publication of a collection of
poems called Lyrical Ballads initiated Romanticism, which featured themes of nature, individualism
and emotion. Wordsworth s works are representative of this era; they include ideas about personal
experience and emotion, as well as the influence of nature on man. He also used and advocated
simple language that any reader could comprehend. This radical form of literature influenced other
poets to write in a similar manner, creating a movement that forever changed poetry. Wordsworth s
ideas that prompted the Romantic Period were due to his upbringing and experiences as a student.
Born in the spring of 1770, Wordsworth grew up with four siblings in Englandalong the Derwent
River, exposing him early on to nature s beauty. He drew inspiration for his autobiographical poem,
The Prelude, from his schooling at Cockermouth, as well as from his education in Hawkshead,
where he and his brother attended school. He then attended Cambridge, using his experiences there
to note his changing ideas of his education in the third book of The Prelude. This movement... Show

Gender Representation in Advertising Essay
Gender Representation in Advertising
The roles of males and females in society have significantly changed, as opposed to the
predominant roles in our history. In the modern culture of today, women have begun to break out of
the mold that which society has placed her in. This much can t be said when it comes to modern
gender representation in mass media advertising. It can be safe to state that woman are seen as
sexual, fragile, exotic whereas men are portrayed as tough, in control, and aggressive. This trend
can be one seen as an inhibitor to the advancement of our culture, because especially for women, it
is hard to pull away from the stereotypes that are continuously represented. As examples of the

When it comes to the male figure in advertisements, it is a different picture. Representations of
men in media have a different approach they tend to focus on strength, power, physique,
independence, etc... The first ad portrays a clearly athletic, strong, male individual. His
expression is one of determination and focus He s not going to let anyone get in his way. He is
aggressive, and overflowing with testosterone. It is unclear what the product is, something to do

making it simple to realize this ad is all about the male ego. This man has a very intimidating
expression, one of strength and almost anger. His positioning shows off his clearly muscular
arms and his aura is almost overpowering. In both images, the idea that a true man should be
strong, aggressive, etc... is presented. For any normal male individual viewing this ad, he would
feel like that is what he should be if he was a real man .
When pictured together, the male figure usually is portrayed as the more dominant one, unless the
female character is clearly socially superior. In this Dockers advertisement, the two individuals are

Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative...
Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to
lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how
Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders
reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a
disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive
disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method
to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past
mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting
view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by
stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a
method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an
organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only
improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy.
A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take
advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). If an
organisation can demonstrate favourable environmental performance they are more likely to be

of an author (Meyer,64), gives the audience important insight to people, places, and events in the
story (Meyer,64) . The Killings provides a somewhat conventional plot pattern, where the
character is confronted with a problem and is then led into a climax, which late leads to the
resolution of the story (Meyer,65). The conventional plot is easy to follow and serves as a basis for

The story explains, One night he beat Frank. Frank was living at home and waiting for September,
for graduate school in economics, and working as a lifeguard at Salisbury Beach, where he met
Mary Ann Strout, in her first month of separation. (Dubus,86). This small piece of information
allows the audience to understand the possible relationship between Frank and his killer. The name
of the killer, stated earlier in the story as, Richard Strout assumably has a relationship with Mary
Ann Strout, the girl Frank meets on the beach. The passage also clarifies that Strout had previously
beaten Frank before finally killing him. When the paragraph ends stating where he met Mary Ann
Strout in her first month of separation (Dubus,86), we are sure that Strout and Mary Ann were
indeed married at one point and that Frank was somehow intruding on their marriage. A
conversation between the Fowlers also confirms the relationship between Frank and Mary Ann. By
understanding the relationships, subtlety stated in the paragraph, the reader forms a solid
explanation for why Strout killed Frank Fowler. By flashing back into past knowledge and
information the reader is able to fully understand the story. The plot is enhanced by the rising action
of the story. During this time, Richard Strout has been kidnapped by Matt Fowler.

The Ever Increasing Urgancy for World Peace
The 20th century can be credited as being one of the most violent times in recorded history. There
were over 98 million war related deaths, which is about six times the combined deaths of both the
eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Orwell conveys each of these killings as one mind less, one
world less. World peace would be an important goal to work towards. Many wanted to achieve
world peace, however, there were many different visions for how this could be accomplished.
Despite the many anti war actions that occurred during the previous centuries, the twentieth century
marks the conception of an organized approach to global peace. Advocates of world peace believed
that with an ever increasing connected world, military advances, and... Show more content on

The first conference, for which the United States took an active role enacted three treaties. The first,
establishing the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The second treaty outlined the treatment of
prisoners and the citizens where the war was present. The third treaty focuses on the protection of
marked medical units and requires them to treat the wounded of the both sides of the conflict.
Focusing on the first treaty, arbitration was a natural for U.S. advocates of peace, dating back to the
Jay Treaty (1794). The process of arbitration allowed the U.S. to extend legal concepts to foreign
relations, without compromising U.S. freedom of action. One of the earliest arms control
conferences was the Washington Disarmament Conference, organized by Charles Evans Hughs
who sought the promotion of peace via disarmament and outlawry of war. With the U.S. being a
world power, though arbitration, the U.S. could levy this power with conflicting parties in hope of
peace. During this time, reduction of armament was an integral part of the Republicans diplomatic
strategy.5 During the Washington Conference, Hughes pulled off a diplomatic tour de force, one of
the first major international agreement on arms reduction that has yet to be negotiated.6 After
months of negotiations, five countries agree to limit their number of battleships, establishing a

Unraveling The Enigma Of Christopher Mccandless
Unraveling the Enigma of Christopher McCandless Throughout the novel, Into the Wild, Jon
Krakauer sincerely disentangles the haunting enigma of Chris McCandless. By tracing the places,
people and experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a
puzzling corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling.
Although Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact
with and experts from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead
man s life is trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common
connections such as similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at
a young age. Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled
by a reckless persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in
total isolation troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural
world. The mutual bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the
writing in the novel sincere enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound
authority and truth. Unconditional understanding through shared paternal issues, agitation of the
soul, and need for human contact grants Krakauer access to divulge into the conundrum of Chis
McCandless and authority to earnestly narrate the mysterious

Air transportation is costly, but fast and reliable. Other modes of transportation may be cheaper, but
the sacrifice has to hold inventories due to delays that may occur. If the above decisions are made
with careful and strategic thought as well as with concern for integration, the supply chain should
be efficient and successful.
The complete goal of SCM is to optimize supply chains in an endeavor to provide more accurate
and time sensitive information that can be used to improve process times and cut costs. Supply
chains have been around for decades and a constantly being improved. The newest opportunity for
improvement is the introduction of Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. RFID technology
will provide real time information that will allow manufacturers to get better readings of customers
and markets thus further improving supply chains. RFID will help retailers provide the right
products at the right places at the right times. Finally, maximizing sales and profits.
Wal Mart has been leading the charge with RFID technology. Having the largest retailer adopt and
begin to use RFID technology has given strong backing to the technology and will only further and
quicken the expansion of RFID. They have begun requiring all their major suppliers to implement
RFID technology on all products supplied to Wal Mart.
One example of what Wal Mart has done with SCM and its suppliers is that of its relationship with

Mental Health And Mental Illness
People are afraid to step forward and admit to having a mental illness. Society has made it such a
taboo thing to the point where people are afraid to even talk about. This is what twenty one year
old Kaelia Nelson, a pageant queen originally from Hemingford, Nebraska, focused her platform
on. She was recently crowned as Miss Alliance, and would have competed at Miss Nebraska in
June of 2018. Unfortunately, Kaelia lost her battle against her mental illness. Kaelia was a junior
studying education and was involved in numerous activities including being a flyer on the Peru
State College cheer team. Mental illness does not have a face. It can affect anyone, even a
pageant queen. We have seen countless of stories like these everywhere. We send our love and
our prayers to those families whose entire lives have been turned around, but we need to
acknowledge mental illness in today s society and stop the stigma. Mental illness is a serious issue
that no one is paying attention to. Many people have been affected, especially young adults, but
how many more innocent lives need to be taken before people start to act. Mental healthis
important, especially in young adults, and it should no longer be ignored. To understand the
importance of mental health, we must first recognize what it means. The World Health
Organization states that mental health is defined as a state of well being in which every individual

Television Violence Essay
Television violence and its effects on viewers has been a controversial issue for many years. Some
viewers believe that there is an increasingly large amount of violence on television and this
widespread public concern has quot;led to calls for stricter controls on the depiction of violence in
programmes quot; (Gunter and McAleer 1990:92). Exactly how much violence is there on
television though?
Many cultivation theorists have studied this, acquiring data in the form of content analysis. They
agree on a definition of a violent act, for example Gerbner in his study used the definition, quot;an
overt expression of physical force against self or other, compelling action against ones will on pain
of being hurt or killed, or actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clearly obvious from the research already done concerning television and its effects, that
violence is quite prevalent on British television. Of more concern however is the effect that those
can have on its viewers. Does the violence on television really increase the violent attitudes and
behaviour in individuals? Violence on television can do one of three things. The first is make us
more violent (Huesmann 1982), the second is make us less violent (Feshbach 1972) and the third
is to have no effect at all (Freedman 1984, Kaplan and Singer 1976). Most evidence has supported
the first argument namely that television violence does increase our own violent behaviour. There
are four main effects that cause this violent behaviour when viewing it on television.
The first of these affects is arousal. It is believed that a violent programme increases levels of
arousal and thus causes us to become more violent as we are not only excited by the programme
but also agitated and nervous. This effect is not limited to violent programmes however, as a
comedy programme may induce arousal in the form of amusement in the same way as a violent
programme induces arousal in the form of anger. It is the type of arousal that occurs in the first
place that determines the effect the programme has. Condry (1989:11) found that suspense
programmes, comedy programmes and sport events

Case Study Of Cryptosporidium
Introduction
Cryptosporidium is a microscopic parasite which causes a disease in the human body which in
turn brings on bouts of diarrhoea. The disease is known as cryptosporidiosis. Cryptosporidium is
more commonly known as its abbreviated term of crypto . Cryptosporidium has many sub species
all of which can infect both humans and animals. The parasite has a thick outer shell which is the
main feature of why it is so able to resist certain types of disinfection. This thick outer shell makes it
extremely resistant to chlorine disinfection in particular.
Cryptosporidium has become a problem in several locations throughout Ireland which has

European Union s Emission Trading Scheme
Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its
economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide
emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness
that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxidea country
can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of
greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a
trading market (European Commission, 2005) to ensure that the emitted gases are restricted in the
most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of... Show

The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that
caused a weak point in the scheme.
The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament
voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions
Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission.
Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1
(2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The
economist, 2013). Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and
not being auctioned; while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances
creating a carbon market. (Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year
s emissions (The economist, 2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first
mistakes made by the EU ETS. Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore

not complying with the Harmonisation Law; which aims to create a consistency of laws and

Inequality In Jane Eyre
I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte,
Jane Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman,
like many others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she
wrote about her hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many
similarities in her main character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how
Victorian women were expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues
her portrayal of the inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of
her poems, Life and The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in
the Victorian eraby taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a
journey of discovery of love or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships
from a young age, and rather than letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte
experienced loss at a young age, losing her mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated
almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays
her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see many of her misfortunes paraphrased
into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school, Lowood, where they believe in plain
fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy and active habits to teach
young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte herself was sent to
Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to, and the
school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all they
could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers
know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live
through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard
times, making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband
(Bronte). This can be taken as a poem Bronte wrote

Medical Application For Medical Residency Program
Throughout all of time there have been people known as doctors. In some places they have been
known as shaman, witch doctor, healing man, or even cleric. The way they were trained was
usually through apprenticeship with an older doctor when they were young. As the times and
practices advanced and changed so did the learning of medicine. People went from
apprenticeships to schools. Then the schools became more extensive and thorough. Now
because of there being several different branches of medicine there are also several branches of
schooling. And in order to become a doctor, surgeon, or a radiologist a person must go through
the Medical Residency Program, otherwise known as the Match Program. Depending on which
type of medicine a person wants to go in they have to choose a type of medical residency
program, an example would be that if a person would want to work as a doctor they would have
to go through the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Each residency program was created at
different times. The reason for this fact is that some of these programs weren t need until a certain
point because of changes in time, culture, people, and necessities. Point in case being the
Emergency Medical Residency Program which was not created until 1961. This can be backed by
what Brian J. Zink s writing at http://www.emra.org/resources/emra history/a brief history of

Analysis Of Jeffrey Jerome Cohen s Monster Culture
Monster Culture (Seven Thesis)
By Jeffrey Jerome Cohen In this reading, Cohen proposes a sketch of a new modus legendi,
meaning, a method of reading cultures from the monsters they engender. (Monsters page 11) He
also says that he s going to break some rules from recent cultural studies. Now, Cohen offers seven
theses towards understanding cultures through monsters by their character, appearance and
representation, such as: Vampires, the Alien, Frankenstein, Werewolves, Grendel, the Boogey man,
and etc.
First Thesis pretty much says that monsters always are symbols and representations of culture. The
monster is born only at this metaphoric crossroads, as an embodiment of a certain cultural moment
of a time, a feeling and a place. (Monsters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monsters are part of an imagination so they exist only to be read. (Monsters page 12) Second
Thesis says The monster always escapes. In this case the monster gets away with it too but this
monster damaged a lot of things that can t be undone. So the monster escapes meaning it is never
truly destroyed or defeated because there s always something it left behind. They can never be
caught but they can also return in a different form way to get back at those who tried to destroy
them. Third Thesis basically explains that monsters cannot be categorized in the animals or people.
As Cohen says they are disturbing hybrids whose externally incoherent bodies resist attempts to
include them in any systematic structuration. (Monsters page 14) Their physical and psychological
characteristics just don t fit in classification because they can be half human, half animal and may
have some other deforms. Fourth Thesis explains the monster is an outsider , they are different so
it depends on cultural, political racial economic, sexual. (Monsters page 16) Monsters have aspects.

Argumentative Essay On The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials The largest outbreak of witchcraft in America took place in Salem,
Massachusetts in 1692. A group of girls, including the Parris s Indian slave Tituba, gathered in
the Salem village and were attempting to see the future by decoding messages . Shortly after this
gathering the girls started showing signs of the possessed (pg. 73). To this day people all over
America are still amazed with the events that took place in this time. But why is that? The fear of
the village fell heavily onto the judicial system, which later made people focus on the proper
separation of government and religious beliefs. Mass hysteria broke out amongst the village and
many people were being accused, therefore leading to many innocent deaths. Although there could
be many theories as to the reason the witch trials in Salembegan, there are two points of view that
are very commonly shared amongst people. Some believe that the Salem witch trials were
women unconsciously searching for power, whereas others believe it was an encephalitis
epidemic. In fact, Lyle Koehler believes that the women of Salem were unconsciously seeking
power in the patriarch world that they lived in. There indeed was a pattern to those being
convicted of witch craft in Salem. Three fourths of the people accused were female, of the 56 men
accused, half were related to the accused women (pg. 74). To Kholer this just seems too specific to
be an encephalitis epidemic. The women of Salem used the accusations

Parentese Parentese
It is always exciting for every parent to have babies. It means extra company, extra fun, and extra
love. The company part might be a bit of a challenge, as we know that all babies are not exactly
born with the ability to speak right off the bat. Parents have since then learned to adjust to this
language barrier by speaking to babies in this babble kind of manner that experts have even pegged
as Parentese.
Parentese is, in its simplest sense described by ParentingPassage.com, a way where parents over
exaggerate words to babies, often also heightening pitch and even throwing in a few goofy facial
expressions to attract even more attention. Along with their grabbed attention is how they slowly
understand social cues.
Talking to your babies, Parentese or what, is a way to start your baby s transition from little
babbles to actual words. It is also quite useful when it comes to improving a parent s bond with their
child.
Some parents just have this instinctive drive to go ahead into baby talk, especially mothers.
Research on this subject was done by Professor Jenny Saffran, who teaches psychology at the
University of Wisconsin.
Saffran explained, We ve known for a long time that adults change the way they speak when they
are addressing babies.

Health Care System Is Experiencing A Vital Crisis
Currently in the United States, the health care system is experiencing a vital crisis. The U.S. is
ranked the highest paying health care system per capita out of 10 countries including, Australia and
the Netherlands. We are also ranked worst in patient quality and outcome (Bernstein). Americans
without health care are more prone to life threatening health problems and the life expectancy of an
uninsured individual is about 60 years. Shorter life expectancies are due to health conditions such
as high blood pressure and unhealthy lifestyles that could have been controlled if they had health
insurance. Numerous health care reforms have been put into place to improve the system s
efficiency. However, the reforms have made a weak impact on changing the system. The three
major problems of the U.S. health care system are high cost, low accessibility, and poor patient
quality and outcome.
The biggest problem that the United States health care faces is the skyrocketing prices. The United
States health care prices have been rising for decades and are still continuing to escalate. The U.S.
has the highest health care prices in the world, even higher than other countries with impressive
standards of living such as Germany, and the UK. Studies predict that the health care could
possibly consume 50% of the Gross Domestic Product by 2082 (Darling, 2009, p. 89). With the
costs steadily rising, the result will be millions more people without health insurance on top of
those who are

Banning Guns On Campuses And Universities
Crime seems to be at an all time high in current times. I feel that this is due to so many people
carrying guns. The safety of all people should be the focus of our society now. One area we
really need to not allow firearms on campuses. This is only one area to focus on. There are
several reason why allowing guns on colleges campuses and universities could be dangerous to
people. First, gun violence seems to lead to an escalation of violent crime. The percentage of
students that could be robbed on their way to class increases . Campuses that do not have metal
detectors to screen the students are at risk for violent crime. Some students could be carrying guns
without legally obtaining methods to carry them. New Orleans campuses have not had the violence
that has taken place at other campuses. It could take place and since bullets have no name on them,
anyone could be the victim. When students leave class late at night there is a risk that they could be
involved and even killed over little things as their tennis shoes, clothes, or money. The violence is
getting worst around the world. All fifty states allow citizens to carry concealed weapons they meet
certain requirements ... only nineteen states has ban carrying a concealed weapon on college
campus...and Louisiana is one of them. Violence on any campus should not be tolerated as it puts
the faculty, staff and students in danger. Additionally, there are students who could snap when
someone makes them angry. Students

Concealment-Centered Model Of Intersex
SECTION A, PROMPT #2: Intersexuality is the term used to describe a set of conditions which
make it difficult to distinctly identify a person as biologically male or female [1]. This variation
of human biology is used to describe people when genitals are ambiguous at birth and/or the
genotype is mosaic when some cells in the body have XX chromosomes while other cells have XY
chromosomes [1]. An example of an intersex condition is congenital adrenal hyperplasia in which
the adrenal glands produce abnormal amounts of hormones that cause femaleembryos to develop a
larger clitoris (clitoromegaly) and cause masculinizing characteristics later in life. Another example
is micropenis in which a genetically maleperson is born with a penis that 2.5 standard deviations or
below normal penis length.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genitals that were ambiguous were just thought of as a natural variation of human anatomy [2].
Due to a huge leap in medicine in the 20th century, the medical field started to view intersexual
conditions as abnormal and curable through surgery and other options. Starting in the 50s, doctors
have used the concealment centered model of healthcare when intersexuality is encountered. Using
this model s derivation, the optimum of gender rearing model , doctors correct the ambiguous
genitals by means of surgery and hormonal treatments. Under this model, gender assignment
should be done as early as possible so that children would grow up to be good (believable and
straight) girls and boys [1]. This method of healthcare tries to normalize intersex individuals
because it is trying to prevent the individuals from being ostracized in society

The Energy Supply Of India Essay
Abstract The development of a nation is also measured on the parameters like the adequacy of
electrical energy. To make a nation as the developed nation, the energy supply should have a
reach to the extreme parts too. As India is an agricultural nation and so sorts of agricultural left
outs are accessible here. Along these lines, this immense measure of agricultural wastes can be
an input resource for power production in Indian villages. Rice husk is one of the potential
agricultural wastes which can be utilized as an input source to generate electricity, conditioned
that it will be handled and processed effectively. The reason for this paper is to bring the focus
on the alternative power generation methods in the rural part. The rice husk plants are generally
small and medium scaled efficient enough to supply or to meet the basic need of a village. In
this piece, the main focus is to show the available rice husk in India, the distinctive possibilities
and the procedure with which it can be utilized to generate power. Finally, a decrease in
competition in supply by the larger plant may lead to the decrease in the cost. But various issues
related to investment as the risk of failing of plant, monopoly on the supply side of husk from
various rice mills, institutional challenges related to the distributional area. 1. Introduction Even
with the increase in the demand for electricity globally, India s peak demand of electricity is
165253 MW and we have a surplus supply.

The New York Times and Jayson Blair (A) в
ЂњAll the News...
The New York Times built its legacy around characteristics that did not represent the status quo nor
did it follow the traditional steps in reporting news to the public. Instead of putting emphasis on
reporting corruption, scandal, and extreme political views, it put importance in reporting the factual
representation of events and limited both personal views and expressions (Smeraglinolo, Wehmer,
O Rourke, 2007). The New York Times
set guidelines to ensure its readers were getting the
accurate details of its reporting. O Rourke (2010) states Genuine moral standards transcend the
interests of just one or a few people. They involve doing things for the greater good of society or

Recommendation
It is idea for The New York Times Vice President of Communications, Catherine Mathis, to carry out
the communication channels, as previously operated. This will enable her to reach employees more
effectively than making significant changes. O Rourke (2010) states Many companies rely on
particular cultures to move day to day information through the organization, and to succeed in such
a business, you must adapt to the existing culture rather than try to change it or ask it to adapt to
you (p.31). The recommendation is to continue communicating through both informal and formal
channels, such as mandatory meetings, company letters, and newspapers.
1.Mandatory meetings will provide the employees with a face to face approach to resolving those
problems at hand. It allows managers to be more accessible as it provides both employee and
manager with an opportunity to talk and listen to each other s complaints and ideas (O Rourke,
2010).

sincere apology and an explanation of the circumstances surrounding the incident. O Rourke states

A Comparison Of Identity Crisis
Personal Reactions: I agree with Mr. Erik Erikson when he said Everybody has heard of identity
crisis and it arouses a mixture of curiosity, mirth, and discomfort which yet promises, by the very
play on the word crisis, not to turn out to be something quite as fatal as it sounds . When I hear
the word crisis I think the worse depending on the situation as an example mid life crisis. I see
someone who is in a middle agegroup but they not considered an elderly person along with them
not being considered a young person. I think of this person seeing themselves as being old and
doing stuff to help them feel younger by wearing clothes that the younger people wear, change
their hair color, buy a sports car, buy a motorcycle, go to the clubs, and hangout with younger
people. Some people feel like they didn t accomplish enough stuff by this particular age and try to
change that by doing those things to help them feel better with their accomplishments in life. I
agree with Mr. Erik Eriksonwhen he described the patients who was in the war being
shellshocked, nor becomes malingerers, but had through the exigencies of war lost a sense of
personal sameness and historical continuity . I know a lot of people who say their love ones that
returned from the war came back as a different person. Their love ones suffered from paranoia and
have problems with adjusting to the civilian life due to their traumatic experiences in the war. They
battle with trying to figure out what is real and

Plato And St. Augustine
Plato suggested that values such as justice and right conduct are absolute and beyond the realm of
subjective viewpoints. One of his arguments against moral relativism is that it is logically unsound.
Plato proposed a multi layered existence. There is the world of sensory perception, which includes
the physical realities of existence. Platoargued for a higher level of being that he understood as a
world of forms, ideas or concepts. Plato argued that conduct comes from a reference to this world
of forms. By this argument, there is an eternal idea or form of each moral principle, such as justice,
piety or truth. This essay will discuss the ethics of Plato, Socrates and St. Augustine
According to Plato, evil is simply the result of ignorance. He believed that all people are
attempting to do what they understand as good. He believes there are three parts of the soul. There
is a rational and moral part of the soul that loves truth, justice and good. There is a spirited part of
the soul that loves worldly achievement, riches and victory. Lastly, there is an appetitive part of the
soul that craves food and carnal gratification. Plato argued that the rational part of the soul should
rightly be in charge, as it is most in tune with moral value.
Socrates believed that no one does wrong voluntarily. Evil is the result of ignorance. If people
knew what was the right thing to do they would do it. We always choose what we think is the best
or good for us. So, if someone chooses to

Fitness And Physical Activities Analysis
A. At the beginning of the semester I was not regularly active during my weekdays or weekends.
I would go on walks, an occasional run and use my elliptical machine at home but never on a
regular basis. Once, I started this course and the training peaks assignment, I began to
incorporate a variety of physical activities in order to make it easier for me to become active on
a regular basis. I chose physical activities that I would find enjoyable and even discovered new
physical activities that I had not tried before to be very enjoyable, like power yoga and
racquetball. The second week of using Training Peaks was when I began to be physically active
on a regular basis, which was 5 7 days a week. I made sure to invest at least half an hour in each
physical activity I would partake it. I found that I tend to spend more than half an hour doing the
physical activities that I enjoy more, like racquetball and riding my mountain bike. I started
playing racquetball and mountain biking for forty five minutes initially and no I have increased
the time to a whole hour. I also had a lot more rest days at the start of using Training Peaks than I
do now.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Themes In A Hunger Artist By Franz Kafka
The story A Hunger Artist is an imaginary story. Kafka s imaginations are difficult to understand
by an average reader, the reader himself needs to have a high level of imagination to understand
what Kafka is trying to explain. That said, a few things are important about A Hunger Artist : it
concerns itself with art, suffering and the artist s relation to his audience. One of Kafka s major
topics in his other work is of the negative effect industrialization and capitalism has on art. Kafka
paints a unique portrait of the hungerartist as the passionate starving artist who ignores his poverty
and the necessity of a regular job. His cage is his cramped apartment from where his artistic
inspiration springs and he never looks at his cage s clock.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He is never satisfied with his own empty stomach, just as he can never be satisfied from the
reception of his art. The audience on the other hand never has any cause to be dissatisfied with the
show. The great irony is that the audience does not understand the art yet they are pleased with it,
while the artist understands his art but is not pleased. We may say that the hunger artist s
exhibition is pleasingly unfulfilling inside the bars of the cage while it is entertainingly fulfilling
outside of the cage. The key to this divide of fulfillment is that the hunger artist still suffers
privately. He does not relate this suffering to the audience while sharing one s most private
thoughts through art is a noble endeavor. There is also something selfish and hateful about it as
implied by the hunger artist s desire for the audience to endure his

  • 2. School Safety Has Become A Hot Topic To know how open and accessible our schools used to be when I was in school, and even once I started teaching. Through these years, school safety has become a hot topic. Safety is not only protecting schools from predators, but also from the poorly maintained aging school buildings. We need to find ways to make our schools accessible, and not feel like we are locked in a jail at the same time. The buildings, especially older schools, need be closely monitored for any type of hazard that may hurt the occupants inside. Guncontrol in the past couple years has caused much controversy; therefore, many states have not approved teachers to carry a concealed weaponinto the classroom. There are some people who believe this would be the answer to protecting our students; however, there are also some who believe this will give our students a sense of fear, they will always feel they are in danger. Finally, we also have to ensure that our children feel emotionally safe in the classroom and not fear the idea of learning something new. There are steal security shutters on the windows, all exterior doors are locked, and all doors within the building must stay locked, you must check in the office and run your driver s license to get a visitors pass, and sometimes you may have to walk through a metal detector. This is not a jail; however, this is a schoolin today s society. In order to be considered safe, there are safety procedures all schools must follow. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stichting INGKA foundation can be further split up into the following: Stichting IKEA Foundation, INGKA Holding B.V. and Stiching IMAS Foundation which give advice on the financial assets of IKEA and INGKA Holding B.V. The Inter IKEA Holding S.A. is the worldwide franchisor of the IKEA concept and it owns the IKEA brand. In exchange to open an IKEA store and use its products and brand name, every store has to pay a 3% royalty fee over the total revenue of the store to the Inter IKEA Holding S.A.. These royalties are directly paid from the profits of the INGKA Holding S.A.. The beneficiaries are not made public but it is not hard to conclude that the biggest part flows directly into the hands of the Kamprad family members since they are the only shareholders of the Inter IKEA Holding S.A.. Another small part of the incomes goes to the Interogo Foundation. The Interogo Foundation is controlled by a board of directors which solely exists of external board members. The Kamprad family act as a watchdog to prevent any decision which are not in line with their vision of how IKEA should be ruled and in which form IKEA should exist. The Interogo Foundation has the aim to invest in the expansion and continuity of IKEA. Therefore, all the funds that are owned by the Interogo Foundation may only be used when Inter IKEA Holding S.A. has financial problems. The only exception for a partly withdrawal of the funds is when there has to be spend a small amount on philanthropic charities to remain eligible as a foundation. This leads again to lower tax payments. Due to the existence of the Inter IKEA Holding S.A. has Ingvar Kamprads plan to keep IKEA a family business succeeded. The Kamprad family are the owners of the Inter IKEA Holding S.A. and therefore fully control the franchise program and own the IKEA brand. This combined with the multiple functions the members of the Kamprad family fulfil in INGKA Holding B.V. and Stichting IKEA Foundation makes IKEA almost immune to a hostile ... • 4. Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper Mating among Seahorses by Tina Huang February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these studies demonstrate the uniqueness of seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was born into a broken family with a mother that was an alcoholic and brutally beat her growing up. She was arrested 83 times and had 66 criminal convictions relating to her addiction. She got pregnant in 2004, and entered into a trauma treatment program. This program began to transform her life and the way she thought about herself. One of the main factors that I felt made her to the lifestyle she picked was the relationship she had with her mother. The mother wanted very little with her and her sense of self worth was greatly harmed because of this occurrence. She would seek to find her mother s affection... I wouldn t classify everyone that endures these awful conditions to revert to drugs as their only means of escaping. I don t believe they all become criminals but of their environment. Their have been plenty of good people that I have met who have been the product of parents who did drugs and were drunks that made it just fine. They went off to college and found that they wanted a better life then what they experienced with their parents. I think that the most influential factor is the person he or she looks up to. They need a older mentor to look up to and teach them the right way. They need someone to invest in them so they know that someone cares about how they are doing in life. They need to have someone to fall back on who will pick them up on their feet and tell them its okay to fall as long as you get back up. A strong bond with someone to me is such an important factor in how someone turns out. You have to think that while yes they may have horrible parents they may some day be parents and have no idea what to do. They never had a person in their life acting as a parent and therefore, they don t know how they should in that role. They are at a disadvantage when it comes to parental roles if they didn t ... Despite its high clinical variability, it is consistently characterized by three main elements: vascular alterations, autoimmunity and progressive fibrosis. However, there is increasing evidence that SSc pathogenesis is dominated by vascular changes, as demonstrated by numerous experimental and clinical studies (1). • 9. Comparing Dear Mama And The Song Mother To Son Is a mothers conditional love ever fully appreciated? The song Dear Mama by Tupac and the poem Mother To Son by Langston Hughes both proclaim how growing up, people don not fully appreciate their mothers. They do not acknowledge what they went through to raise them and give them the necessities of life. These two pieces express how you have to be at your worse to cherish the best. People need to go through a low part in their life to appreciate the people around them. It takes a low point in someones life to fully appreciate their mother. She wants him to live a better life then she did. Mothers not only want the best for their children but they will do whatever is needed to make sure their child has the necessities to grow up. The sons mother lived at places with no carpet, splinters everywhere and boards bordered up the walls. Even in such bad conditions she never gave up on her son. Life for me ain t been no crystal stair she repeats to her son throughout the poem which gives the impression that her son still does not fully understand what his mom went through to raise him. • 10. Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And... There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works should be considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are statements by Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the Romantic sick . . . Most of the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it is weak, sickly, and ill, and the old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh, cheerful, and healthy. (Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as this masterpiece is in two separate sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part I and Part II differently. However, Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth and topics and characters of the supernatural, that match the European Romanticismphilosophies. Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives. Upon realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies, he strives to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of Romanticism entails a core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to evolve and increase their human potential. Moreover, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oliver Parker s 1995 interpretation of Shakespeare s 1600 s timeless classic Othello presents a differing construction of Othello from the original play, achieved through uses of a plethora of film devices. Both the play and the film masterfully spin a tale of romance, tragedy and death telling the fall of glory of Othellodue to the acts of his ensign Iago, albeit with several differences in the presentation. Both Shakespeare and Parker explore themes of jealousy, power, and racism through the key characters of Othello and Iago. In the film Parker is able to show Othello having visible seizures while showing false images of Desdemona together with Cassio, allowing the progression of Othello s collapse to be observed, in another scene Parker places Othello in a dungeon hidden behind bars, symbolising the emergence of the dark green eyed monster from within him. Parker integrates the plays act 3 scene 3 and turns it into a whole new entity showing the marriage of Othello and Iago, this scene is the climax of both of the play and the film with Othello succumbing to Iago s words that Desdemona is a whore . They form a blood bond, this symbolising the blood shed about to occur caused by Othello insecurities being pounced on by Iago. Parker s film constructs a unique and unstable character of Othello, whose downfall is caused by his insecurities being preyed upon by the malicious Iago. Both Shakespeare s and Parker s text explore themes of power and jealousy utilising Iago and Othello as vessels for these ideas. • 16. Examples Of Antigone In Dante s Inferno In the Inferno, Dante sets up the structure of Hell which is shown as nine circles of anguish. Hell is a place of punishment for those who intentionally chose the sinful way of life, where Heaven is a place of recompense for those who purposefully chose the virtuous way. Before entering the first circle of Hell, where people have committed a specific sin, there must be a place for those who neither chose a side of righteousness or wickedness. Dante created a vestibule of Hell, a circle of Hell that precedes the first circle of Hell, Limbo. The fourth line of the inscription, Justice inspired my exalted Creator. , creates an impression that God constructed Hell for justice, not only to see the sins of those punished, but also to rewarded those who were moral. Dante, however, established that this hell is a creation not of the devil but of the Trinity. This is shown where the inscription mentions I am a creature of the Holiest Power, of Wisdom in the Highest and of Primal Love , where it represents God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Hell is of God s making, not an independent city of rebels, but is dependent of those who rebelled against their maker. Although hell is a place of eternal suffering, it is also a place that serves justice. The basic meaning of the sign is that of those sinners who did not repent their sins. Another instance of God s rule is shown with Charon, the one who ferries the souls of the deceased across the River Acheron. Charon refuses to take Dante on to the boat since he is living. • 17. Three Years She Gew Research Paper The English Romantic Age, which lasted from the late 18th century to the middle of the 19th century, was born of the ideas of William Wordsworth, British poet and author. Many critics of this era believe that Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge s co publication of a collection of poems called Lyrical Ballads initiated Romanticism, which featured themes of nature, individualism and emotion. Wordsworth s works are representative of this era; they include ideas about personal experience and emotion, as well as the influence of nature on man. He also used and advocated simple language that any reader could comprehend. This radical form of literature influenced other poets to write in a similar manner, creating a movement that forever changed poetry. Wordsworth s ideas that prompted the Romantic Period were due to his upbringing and experiences as a student. Born in the spring of 1770, Wordsworth grew up with four siblings in Englandalong the Derwent River, exposing him early on to nature s beauty. He drew inspiration for his autobiographical poem, The Prelude, from his schooling at Cockermouth, as well as from his education in Hawkshead, where he and his brother attended school. He then attended Cambridge, using his experiences there to note his changing ideas of his education in the third book of The Prelude. This movement... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy. A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). By tracing the places, people and experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a puzzling corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling. Although Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact with and experts from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead man s life is trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common connections such as similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at a young age. Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled by a reckless persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in total isolation troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural world. The mutual bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the writing in the novel sincere enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound authority and truth. Some viewers believe that there is an increasingly large amount of violence on television and this widespread public concern has quot;led to calls for stricter controls on the depiction of violence in programmes quot; (Gunter and McAleer 1990:92). Exactly how much violence is there on television though? Many cultivation theorists have studied this, acquiring data in the form of content analysis. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is clearly obvious from the research already done concerning television and its effects, that violence is quite prevalent on British television. Of more concern however is the effect that those can have on its viewers. Does the violence on television really increase the violent attitudes and behaviour in individuals? Violence on television can do one of three things. The first is make us more violent (Huesmann 1982), the second is make us less violent (Feshbach 1972) and the third is to have no effect at all (Freedman 1984, Kaplan and Singer 1976). Most evidence has supported the first argument namely that television violence does increase our own violent behaviour. There are four main effects that cause this violent behaviour when viewing it on television. The first of these affects is arousal. It is believed that a violent programme increases levels of arousal and thus causes us to become more violent as we are not only excited by the programme but also agitated and nervous. This effect is not limited to violent programmes however, as a comedy programme may induce arousal in the form of amusement in the same way as a violent programme induces arousal in the form of anger. It is the type of arousal that occurs in the first place that determines the effect the programme has. Condry (1989:11) found that suspense programmes, comedy programmes and sport events ... European Union s Emission Trading Scheme Despite the efficiency of the European Union s emission trading scheme (or EU ETS) with its economic and environmental policy designed to reduce the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions within the earth s atmosphere, further research have revealed the strengths and weakness that EU ETS experience while determining how much greenhouse gas and carbon dioxidea country can emit. One of the main strengths of EU ETS is its cost effectiveness. Limiting the amount of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emitted requires a market based policy instrument such as a trading market (European Commission, 2005) to ensure that the emitted gases are restricted in the most economical way. Canadian economist John Dales (1968) suggests that a market of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The success of its cost effectiveness resulted in a few mistakes that occurred during phase 1 that caused a weak point in the scheme. The EU ETS has been known exist with a typical weakness. On April 16th the European Parliament voted to reject an attempt to bolster Europe s flagship environmental programme, the Emissions Trading System (The economist, 2013), mainly because of the exceeded limit of emission. Carbon has been known to harm the globe, and no wonder there is a price to it. During Phase 1 (2005 2007) of the EU ETS, there had been a massive overcapacity in the carbon market (The economist, 2013). Companies were being allocated allowances based on previous emissions and not being auctioned; while auction remains a more efficient way to allocate emission allowances creating a carbon market. (Mak, 2011). The surplus was 1.5 billion 2 billion tones or about a year s emissions (The economist, 2013). This shows how the newborn phase 1 were victims of the first mistakes made by the EU ETS. Countries such as Germany, France and Poland were furthermore assigned additional allowances thus not respecting the restrictions of the ETS (Mak, 2011), also, not complying with the Harmonisation Law; which aims to create a consistency of laws and regulations in the business so that one country does not obtain an economic advantage as a result of difference rules (Harmonisation of ... • 33. Inequality In Jane Eyre I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte, Jane Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman, like many others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she wrote about her hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many similarities in her main character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how Victorian women were expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues her portrayal of the inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of her poems, Life and The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in the Victorian eraby taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a journey of discovery of love or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships from a young age, and rather than letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte experienced loss at a young age, losing her mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see many of her misfortunes paraphrased into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school, Lowood, where they believe in plain fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy and active habits to teach young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte herself was sent to Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to, and the school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all they could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard times, making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband (Bronte). This can be taken as a poem Bronte wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Medical Application For Medical Residency Program Throughout all of time there have been people known as doctors. In some places they have been known as shaman, witch doctor, healing man, or even cleric. The way they were trained was usually through apprenticeship with an older doctor when they were young. As the times and practices advanced and changed so did the learning of medicine. People went from apprenticeships to schools. Then the schools became more extensive and thorough. Now because of there being several different branches of medicine there are also several branches of schooling. And in order to become a doctor, surgeon, or a radiologist a person must go through the Medical Residency Program, otherwise known as the Match Program. Depending on which type of medicine a person wants to go in they have to choose a type of medical residency program, an example would be that if a person would want to work as a doctor they would have to go through the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Each residency program was created at different times. The reason for this fact is that some of these programs weren t need until a certain point because of changes in time, culture, people, and necessities. Point in case being the Emergency Medical Residency Program which was not created until 1961. This can be backed by what Brian J. Zink s writing at http://www.emra.org/resources/emra history/a brief history of emergency medicine residency training/. The history of Emergency Medicine residency training is interwoven with the ... Analysis Of Jeffrey Jerome Cohen s Monster Culture Monster Culture (Seven Thesis) By Jeffrey Jerome Cohen In this reading, Cohen proposes a sketch of a new modus legendi, meaning, a method of reading cultures from the monsters they engender. (Monsters page 11) He also says that he s going to break some rules from recent cultural studies. Now, Cohen offers seven theses towards understanding cultures through monsters by their character, appearance and representation, such as: Vampires, the Alien, Frankenstein, Werewolves, Grendel, the Boogey man, and etc. First Thesis pretty much says that monsters always are symbols and representations of culture. The monster is born only at this metaphoric crossroads, as an embodiment of a certain cultural moment of a time, a feeling and a place. (Monsters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the monster escapes meaning it is never truly destroyed or defeated because there s always something it left behind. They can never be caught but they can also return in a different form way to get back at those who tried to destroy them. Third Thesis basically explains that monsters cannot be categorized in the animals or people. As Cohen says they are disturbing hybrids whose externally incoherent bodies resist attempts to include them in any systematic structuration. (Monsters page 14) Their physical and psychological characteristics just don t fit in classification because they can be half human, half animal and may have some other deforms. • 36. Argumentative Essay On The Salem Witch Trials The Salem Witch Trials The largest outbreak of witchcraft in America took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. A group of girls, including the Parris s Indian slave Tituba, gathered in the Salem village and were attempting to see the future by decoding messages . Shortly after this gathering the girls started showing signs of the possessed (pg. 73). To this day people all over America are still amazed with the events that took place in this time. But why is that? The fear of the village fell heavily onto the judicial system, which later made people focus on the proper separation of government and religious beliefs. Mass hysteria broke out amongst the village and many people were being accused, therefore leading to many innocent deaths. Although there could be many theories as to the reason the witch trials in Salembegan, there are two points of view that are very commonly shared amongst people. Some believe that the Salem witch trials were women unconsciously searching for power, whereas others believe it was an encephalitis epidemic. In fact, Lyle Koehler believes that the women of Salem were unconsciously seeking power in the patriarch world that they lived in. There indeed was a pattern to those being convicted of witch craft in Salem. Three fourths of the people accused were female, of the 56 men accused, half were related to the accused women (pg. 74). To Kholer this just seems too specific to be an encephalitis epidemic. The women of Salem used the accusations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Parentese Parentese It is always exciting for every parent to have babies. It means extra company, extra fun, and extra love. The company part might be a bit of a challenge, as we know that all babies are not exactly born with the ability to speak right off the bat. Parents have since then learned to adjust to this language barrier by speaking to babies in this babble kind of manner that experts have even pegged as Parentese. Parentese is, in its simplest sense described by ParentingPassage.com, a way where parents over exaggerate words to babies, often also heightening pitch and even throwing in a few goofy facial expressions to attract even more attention. Along with their grabbed attention is how they slowly understand social cues. Talking to your babies, Parentese or what, is a way to start your baby s transition from little babbles to actual words. It is also quite useful when it comes to improving a parent s bond with their child. Some parents just have this instinctive drive to go ahead into baby talk, especially mothers. Research on this subject was done by Professor Jenny Saffran, who teaches psychology at the University of Wisconsin. Saffran explained, We ve known for a long time that adults change the way they speak when they are addressing babies. They speak more slowly, use shorter sentences, talk at a higher pitch and swoop their pitch up and down more often than when they are speaking to other adults. Babies are a curious bunch, and will do whatever with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The U.S. is ranked the highest paying health care system per capita out of 10 countries including, Australia and the Netherlands. We are also ranked worst in patient quality and outcome (Bernstein). Americans without health care are more prone to life threatening health problems and the life expectancy of an uninsured individual is about 60 years. Shorter life expectancies are due to health conditions such as high blood pressure and unhealthy lifestyles that could have been controlled if they had health insurance. Numerous health care reforms have been put into place to improve the system s efficiency. However, the reforms have made a weak impact on changing the system. The three major problems of the U.S. health care system are high cost, low accessibility, and poor patient quality and outcome. The biggest problem that the United States health care faces is the skyrocketing prices. The United States health care prices have been rising for decades and are still continuing to escalate. The U.S. has the highest health care prices in the world, even higher than other countries with impressive standards of living such as Germany, and the UK. Studies predict that the health care could possibly consume 50% of the Gross Domestic Product by 2082 (Darling, 2009, p. 89). The safety of all people should be the focus of our society now. One area we really need to not allow firearms on campuses. This is only one area to focus on. There are several reason why allowing guns on colleges campuses and universities could be dangerous to people. First, gun violence seems to lead to an escalation of violent crime. The percentage of students that could be robbed on their way to class increases . Campuses that do not have metal detectors to screen the students are at risk for violent crime. Some students could be carrying guns without legally obtaining methods to carry them. New Orleans campuses have not had the violence that has taken place at other campuses. It could take place and since bullets have no name on them, anyone could be the victim. When students leave class late at night there is a risk that they could be involved and even killed over little things as their tennis shoes, clothes, or money. The violence is getting worst around the world. One of his arguments against moral relativism is that it is logically unsound. Plato proposed a multi layered existence. There is the world of sensory perception, which includes the physical realities of existence. Platoargued for a higher level of being that he understood as a world of forms, ideas or concepts. Plato argued that conduct comes from a reference to this world of forms. By this argument, there is an eternal idea or form of each moral principle, such as justice, piety or truth. This essay will discuss the ethics of Plato, Socrates and St. Augustine According to Plato, evil is simply the result of ignorance. He believed that all people are attempting to do what they understand as good. He believes there are three parts of the soul. There is a rational and moral part of the soul that loves truth, justice and good. There is a spirited part of the soul that loves worldly achievement, riches and victory. Lastly, there is an appetitive part of the soul that craves food and carnal gratification. Plato argued that the rational part of the soul should rightly be in charge, as it is most in tune with moral value. Socrates believed that no one does wrong voluntarily.
