The Issue Of The Island Territories Within The South China...
The Disputed Island Territories within the South China Sea and the Subsequent Buildup of Naval
Forces
The territorial disputes in the South China Sea have been a minor ongoing issue with multiple
sovereign states, most notably Brunei, the Peoples Republic of China, the Republic of China,
Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, claiming overlapping territory in the Spratly Islands, Paracel
Islands and the area around the Gulf of Tonkin. The overlapping claims began in 1876 with China s
earliest documented claim to the islands ( Territorial Disputes, 2015). However, more recently these
same nations have begun to be more aggravate aggressive in their claims and the issue is now on the
center stage in world maritime affairs. With each of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea of self preservation is essential to any sovereign state, and all take a similar stance on
national security as the United States. One of protection. In order to accomplish this it is necessary for
states to be able to implement goals on an international stage, thus requiring a certain amount of
power. When it comes to the issue of obtaining power, two major methods become apparent. The
control over space and the control over physical place. Both of these options available to states focus
on power as Condign (based on force), Compensatory (the use of various resources) or Conditioned
(result of persuasion), and their sources as Personality (individuals) and Property (their material
resources) (Galbraith, 1983).
Concepts of Power
The first method is a more modern approach. Power via influence over territory instead of direct
ownership has become the field which most modern day nations find themselves fighting. While
control over place allows for direct manipulation, it is more costly than power through the use of
space . This method has been used since the early 20th century as nations begin to realize that physical
control of land is not essential. Instead countries can influence one another through things such as
control over essential commodities, trade routes or political influence. Even with this being a more,
politically correct, approach to control and involves less direct management, it is difficult to dispute
the obvious advantages physical

Comparing The Ideas Of Bringing Dog To Work
I Believe and support the idea of bringing your dog to work, I think it is a wonderful idea, they have
many beautiful reasons why you should. Although, alot of people might be against the idea of bringing
your dog to work, I am someone who own s two dogs, and the idea of them being home all day while I
m at work for 8 hours or so, not only does it stress me out, I know it stresses them out too. While I
know my puppies are home by themselfs it makes me, in my opinion, distracted more than I would be
if we were allowed to bring our dogs to work with us. It bothers me knowing I have to worry about
them being home alone. Knowing i can t care for them while I m working. Also, having company
while at work would be nice to help

Physiognomies In Nudgee Beach Zonation
Zonation is the distribution of animals and plants into specific zones according to abiotic factors and
characterised by its dominant species [15]. Mangrove zonation is the distinguishable categorisation of
a mangrove ecosystem that extends from shore to inland regions. Definitive spatial variation of
mangrove species has been recognised amongst different ecosystems worldwide and is accredited as
being influenced by abiotic and environmental factors [16]. In Eastern Australia, the majority of
mangrove forests may be divided into landward, middle and seaward zones, based off of their
placement in relation to tidal position. The following points represent the typical physiognomies
characterised by mangroves in their corresponding zones:

At Nudgee Beach, erosion was found to have occurred on the edges of the mangrove forest and along
the mudflat shorelines. Erosion is typically influenced by natural factors and occurs when pieces of
weathered rock or soil are moved typically by wind and water from one place to another. Shorelines
with lots of sediment and sand are more inclined to be effected by erosional progression. Erosion may
also be provoked and accelerated by human interference. For example, if the decision to clear trees
and plants from an area is made, erosion is likely to occur as the root systems of plants work to hold
the soil in place. If these root systems are removed and erosion does occur, environmental conditions
such as; landslides and flooding are more likely to take place. Erosion may also cause other plants to
tip over, have their underground roots exposed and damaged and contribute to the pollution of local
waters; as a result of mud and soil runoff [26]. Erosion at Nudgee Beach was likely to have been
influenced by natural factors; however, the development and extension of the Kedron Brook golfing
course may contribute to the acceleration of erosional processes and further damage the mangrove

Ernest Hemingway Accomplishments
An important figure in twentieth century American literature, Ernest Hemingway received both critical
and popular acclaim for his novels, stories, and poems. At times, his public image seemed to
overshadow his stature as a serious writer. Nevertheless , all of his life experience as a big game
hunter, a bullfight aficionado, and as a deep sea fisherman served greatly to enhance his overall body
of work because he drew heavily on these experiences in his writing (Scribner Laidlaw 2). Ernest
Hemingway was a writer, before this he volunteered and experienced many different things before
becoming a very popular writer.
Born in Oak park, Illinois, Hemingway was educated at Oak Park High School. After graduating from
high school in 1917, he became a reporter for Kansas City Star, but he left his job within a few months
to serve as a volunteer ambulance driver in Italy during World War I(1914 1918). He later transferred
to the infantry and was wounded severely.

As I was thinking about the two companies that I wanted to do for my course project on, I began to
research companies on the internet and I ran across the merger between United and Continental
airlines. The reason that I choose to do the merger is because I knew that they were going to go
through many changes within this merger. Both airline companies have a lot to offer to each other with
this merger that they can compete with Delta airlines one of the largest airline in the world. This
merger will bring about several changes within both companies. In this paper I will be providing the
different changes between both companies with the merger including the culture, systems and unions.

The reservation agents at United are a having a difficult time with Continentals system although they
have gone through an excessive amount of training for the system they are still having a hard time
mastering it. ( United airlines issues, 2012)
The last change is the differences in the unions. Both airlines have different unions for their
employees. United pilots are under ALFA, flight attendants are under AFA, maintenance is under IBT,
mechanics are under IBT, ramp is under IAM, dispatcher are under PAFCA, engineers are under
IFPTE, pubic contract employee are under IAM. Continental pilots are under ALFA, flight attendants
are under IAM, maintenance is under IBT, and ramp is under IBT. As you can see some of the unions
are the same for both airlines, however the pilots have reached an agreement and both under the ALFA
union. They are working on the other unions contracts. ( united continental pilots ok joint union

Law Enforcement Combating Deep Web Criminal Activity Essay
Security and privacy concerns present challenges for law enforcement combating deep web criminal
activity. Crimes committed on or with the Internet are relatively new. Those crimes include illicit trade
in drugs, weapons, wildlife, stolen goods, or people; illegal gambling; sex trafficking; child
pornography; terrorism and anarchy; corporate and sovereign espionage; and financial crimes. Police
agencies have been fighting an uphill battle always one step behind an ever evolving digital landscape
and the criminals who exploit it. The novelty of the Internet begets jurisdictional and legal issues law
enforcement must address while remaining ethical and holding to the code of law. Due to the
anonymous nature of deep web criminal activity and the means for uncovering perpetrators, privacy
concerns of citizens legally using the same software or websites are now a hot topic.
The Internet is vast. To the casual user, the Internet represents the collection of those websites
accessible via search engines such as Google or Bing. Search engines function by utilization of a web
crawler which locates and indexes linked pages that are then provided as search results when it meets
a particular search s criteria. But, those web crawlers are only able to identify static pages, leaving out
the dynamic pages of the deep web. Imagine a commercial fishing trawler on the open ocean pulling
in its catch. The trawler only gathers fish from just barely below the surface and misses the massive

Reflection Paper On Japanese Garden
The Japanese gardens is going to be the basis of my reflection paper with regards to the topic on
reconnaissance. The Japanese gardens are small gardens with a certain unique landscape found
especially in eastern japan. The Japanese gardens apart from being archaic, are existent to date. In
major countries in the world today, it is next to impossible to find practices that have existed to date
bearing in mind the speedy population growth (Harry). Moreover, japan being one of the most
industrialized countries in the world, one would think that the population should be thinking of more
industrial expansion for the benefit of economic growth. Japan has however defied the odds by
preserving their gardens not only for this generation but also for the generations to come. This is
something in my opinion that is of keen interest. There are certain elements that are depicted in the
reading that are depicted that makes it stand out as compared to the other three genres that were
provided. First, their religious beliefs are automatically depicted in their environment. ... Show more

The art employed in its design is something that leaves a lot to be asked. The symbolism employed in
its design such as the three stones to represent Buddha and the raked sand to represent water flow is
something that brings out the aesthetic value of the gardens. Beauty in its general meaning is not just
something or someone that looks good on the face of it. Beauty should be able to speak for itself in a
way that can be understood not by anyone but only by those whom it is designed to communicate to
leaving the rest of the world guessing. The Japanese gardens have not failed under this definition.
They speak a lot on the Japanese culture but only the Japanese understand it. The rest of the world
only marvel at its uniqueness while at the same time understanding close to nothing on the very
meaning of the Japanese gardens. That to me is

Celebrities That Are Good Role Models
The world through the eyes of some can be looked at as a mirror. From birth we are beings that are
constantly watching. Babies and kids watch everything that is put in front of them; parents, siblings,
television, and other kids that are around. This is especially true when it comes to celebrities. Every
day in the modern world we as a society are exposed to the media, which tells us that celebrities can
be viewed as good or bad role models. There are many celebrities that can do good things for the
world and model behavior that is honorable; through this we as a society can mirror that behavior in
our everyday lives. One celebrity who is an extremely talented model and talk show host, Tyra Banks,
can be a model for women and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which raises money for the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Product Red is
partnered with major companies and when the companies sell things with Product Red logo on it, the
funds go to the Global Fund. We as a society are able to look at Bono, and what he promotes to open
our eyes to the current situation of the world and just be more aware. We as a society are also able to
look at Bono in general and model/listen to his causes, support his causes by buying Product Red, and
even become activists ourselves. With celebrities having the high salaries that they do, they are able to
do a bit more with their money than the average person. A charity, being a vivid example in celebrities
using money to help the world, is another way we can look up to celebrities and model their good
efforts. One celeb importantly, includes the singer Pink. Pink is involved with many charities

Income Inequality
Income inequality Name Date Abstract In any given population, there is a difference between what
people within the population earn. The uneven distribution of income in any given population is
income inequality. In order for there to be income, there has to be several sources of income. These
sources of income may be combinational or independent per person receiving the income. Income
may result from wages, rent, bank account interests, salaries or even profits made in business
transactions ( Stiglitz, 2012). In his hypothesis, Karl Marx foresaw income inequality in a capitalistic
as a major problem that would lead to an economic evolution. The main reason he foresaw an
evolution was due to the recurrent nature of income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classification of what causes inequality lies in two different classes in a broader sense, which are;
individual causes, or external conditions leading to income inequality ( Rousseau, 1992). In simpler
wording, the causes of inequality lie within endogenous causes and exogenous conditions.
Endogenous causes of income inequality Endogenous causes are those causes that are unique and
attached to an individual s characteristic. These characteristics lie in the ability of an individual to
produce more than other individuals hence earning more than other individuals in the same market.
These characteristics include better qualifications in carrying out a given job or other uncommon
attributes that make the individual more valuable in the market place. The most common
individualistic abilities sought after in the market include intelligence, charisma, personality and
physical agility. An example of an individualistic attribute in use is intelligence, in the modern market,
IQ tests used in measuring a person s intelligence directly reflects on the earning capability of that
person. A person with a very high intelligence quotient is likely to end up making more money in the
job market as opposed to a person with a poor intelligence quotient. Another endogenous cause for
income inequality is individualistic

Genesis Vs. Enuma Elish
Compare and Contrast: Genesis and Enuma Elish Genesis and Enuma Elish (also known as the Epic
of Creation,) are often compared by scholars due to their being a shared account between the two.
Even though both stories have their similarities, they are indeed very different in almost every way.
Genesis has one creator, God, while Enuma Elish has two. Genesis describes God creating sea and
land creatures on the fifth day, opposed to Enuma Elish where there are no accounts of this in the
Babylonian records.
In the chapter of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible, God alone, created the Heavens and the Earth from
nothing, he created humans from dust and the sun, moon, stars, and the seasons. In the Enuma Elish,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cooperative
Theoretical Background
The history of forming a cooperative started when the Filipinos traveled in Europe during the later
part of the 19th century, studied abroad and brought home with them new ideas. It was this group of
Filipinos who were in close contact with the new economic movement in Europe. Two names worthy
of note were Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Teodoro Sandiko. In Dapitan, Rizal had his ideas in cooperation
partially fulfilled. He put up a school for the poor community on a purely cooperative basis. He also
established a cooperative store with the help of his pupils. One noteworthy group organized by Rizal
was the La Sociedad de los Abacaleros (Society of Abaca Producers). This functioned for only one
year. Rizal returned the members share capital without any loss. Teodoro Sandiko, in his travels in
Europe, had a close contact with the cooperative movement in Germany where he came across with
the Raffeisien movement. Very much impressed by this type of cooperative, he looked forward for an

One main advantage of cooperative is that it is easy to form compare to any other business
organization. No legal formalities are really needed to form this.(Thames Hudson, 2011) Second
advantage is that there is no obstruction for membership. Anyone can be a member of a cooperative
and can also leave if he/she no longer wants to continue his/her membership. (Davidson Davidson,
2010) Third advantage is that it is democratically managed; it is managed by the elected officers of the
cooperative with all the members having the equal right to choose and vote. (Democracy for
Cooperation, 2010)The last or fourth advantage is that the members shared the surplus of the
cooperative. The profit from goods sold are distributed to its members and some of it are reserved or
kept also for the welfare of its member which is mainly used for the managing or expanding of a
cooperative. (Today in Cooperatives,

Modernism in Architecture
Throughout history there have been many styles of architecture such as Greek, Roman, and Gothic
which were designed to be suitable and representative to their time periods. As architecture moved
towards a more secular epoch and away from the romance and traditions of earlier epochs, modernism
became the new style (Rohe, 246). With the rise of this new style people began to wonder how
modern architecture should be designed and whether older epochs should be used as precedents. In
The Artless Word: Mies van der Rohe on the Building Art, Mies van der Rohe describes how modern
architecture should be designed based on the present epoch, be true to its purpose, and make use of
modern technology. The significance of earlier architecture is that the buildings by nature are
impersonal works of entire eras (Rohe, 245). These buildings are pure representatives of the earlier
epochs that symbolize the culture and style of the era. All building art arises out of its own epoch and
can only manifest itself in addressing vital tasks with the means of its own time (245). The romance
and traditions of past epochs have become meaningless in the modern age. For example, symbolism
through grand embellishments which were once the noblest function of fine art and consider great
components of architecture have become tasteless (Gropius, 49). Modern building art refuses to play a
mere decorative role in our life and want to leave the aesthetic traditions of the past (Rohe, 241).

Canine Hip Dysplasia (CHD)
Canine Hip Dysplasia also known as CHD, is a severe condition in which as dogs begin to grow and
mature their ball and socket joints are not properly aligned, resulting in instability or laxity of the hip
joint. The malformation of the ball and socket joint cause a very painful sensation developed by the
joints rubbing and grinding together, instead of the normal comfortable smooth sliding of the hip joint.
Due to the laxity of the hip joint overtime the cartilage, making it a comfortable movement begins to
wear down. Once the cartilage starts to break down scar tissue will develop around the joint and
begins to form osteophytes. The failure of the hip joints will gradually deteriorate, eventually making
the dog s hip bones unable to function. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many other symptoms are commonly misinterpreted as hip dysplasia, following similar symptoms.
The first test will include a physical examination of the evaluation of initial changes and conformation
of hip laxity. Without an appropriate examination the following treatments can be fatal. Radiographs
are extremely crucial to help diagnose CHD. In order to get an appropriate diagnostic image the
canine may be needed for sedation or be anesthetized for the muscles and bones to relax in the
appropriate position. To complete the diagnoses inflammation of the joints can be detected in a
chemical profile, with drawing blood and do a complete blood count and also doing an electrolyte

usually combined with systematic diet, massage, etc. . This therapy was created by Silas Weir
Mitchell, M.D. to treat nervous disorders of women in the nineteenth century. To completely cure the
disorder could take approximately six to eight weeks long. For instance, in the beginning of the story

name three different types of nonverbal communication and give a real life example of each, then
show which nonverbal function it serves and discuss the level of ambiguity that is present with each.
Three types of nonverbal communication are gestures, touch, and time. The first nonverbal
communication pattern listed is gestures, gestures are the movements of hands and arms. Gestures
were one of the first forms of human communication. The most used gestures are called illustrators
which accompany speech but don t stand on their own. The second most common type of gestures are

A real life example of touch is one time I was having a deep conversation with my mentor and he new
I was having a hard time and he touched my shoulder when he was talking with me and it was just a
level of comfort and care that filled my body to know that everything will be okay and I am cared for,
so in this aspect touch was used correctly. Touch has the nonverbal function of complementing, touch
complements the message and emotions relating to the message. The level of ambiguity for touch is
pretty low, I believe that the touch being used is easy to determine what is being put forth, by the
amount of pressure used, where the touch was and in what context.
The third nonverbal communication pattern listed is time, the book describes the scientific term as
chronemics, the way people handle time is very important on being aware of if a person is interested
in the topic or just wants to leave right away and stick to small talk. A good real life example of this is,
yesterday when my friend/roommate got home from work we asked each other about our day, and I
went to explain to her about something that had happened, my back window broke and won t go up
she didn t seem to interested just said a short yeah and went upstairs. This showed me that she didn t

My Reflection Of My Writing As A Portfolio
In my portfolio I will be including my first essay and second essay that I did for this class. I am most
proud of these essays not because I took my time on them but I know that I fixed what was asked and
made a lot of improvements on them. I believe I did meet the contract agreement that we signed at the
beginning of the quarter. Although, I did miss some days of class, more than I expected, but even after
that I feel like I kept up with my work in and outside of the classroom and what was required. I
enjoyed this class a lot because I was able to learn a lot about myself as a learner and was able to work
on my study habits. I learned a lot about how to read properly and how reading aloud truly helps you
as a writer and learner. I also became better at being able to correct others essays without feeling
guilty of what I was saying. At first I felt like I wasn t going to be able to put as much time as I wanted
in my outside of class work. But over the course, I learned that I had to make it a priority and didn t
have any other choice. I had to make it work with my job schedule and use my time very wisely,
which at first wasn t easy because I wasn t really good at that. These past ten weeks, say that I m still
working on my study/ work habits. Recording my labor hours really helped me keep track of the fact
the amount of hours I should be putting in time into my study time. I learned that the easiest things are

The Integrity In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In the book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain took a challenge between the knight. Sir
Gawain also overcame other obstacles that he has been through. Sir Gawain went through many tests
to prove that he could overcome anything. The knight challenged him, so he could prove that he wasn

Sir Gawain showed the people of his kingdom how trustworthy he was; however, according to the

Mobile Phones Research Paper
The world today is filled with all different type of smart phones and tablets. Technology is developing
fast and we don t know where this will leave web designers and developers and how will they proceed
in the future. As attached to our phones we are its hard to imagine how young the technology of
smartphones really are. In 1908 the first apparent wireless device came when Prof. Albert Jahnke and
the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company believed they had industrialized
a wireless telephone. Sadly they were accused of fraud. Later the charge was dropped and production
of the device never proceeded. In 1918, German railroad systems started to test their own wireless
phones on their military trains. Trials began in 1924 and a year later Zugtelephonie A.G. was
established to supply train telephony equipment with the first telephone systems being accepted for
use in postal and other trains by 1926. On June 17, 1946 the first truly mobile phone service appeared
on June 17, 1946 under Bell Labs, which industrialized mobile phones that endorsed users to place
and receive phone calls from their automobiles. Martin Cooper, a research executive at Motorola to
Joel S Engel of Bell Labs, made the first mobile phone calls from a handheld device on April 3, 1973.
That first handheld phone, 1G (First genereation), was 10 inches long and weighed about 2.5 pounds.
The prototype presented 30 minutes of talk time on a single charge and took 10 hours to recharge. The

Anne Bradstreet s Reaction To The Burning Of Her House
Materialistic Fixings I think we all can closely relate to Anne Bradstreet s initial reaction to the
burning of her house. We would mostly be concerned about our material items. We firstly, would think
of all the items we lost. The possessions we had and the memories that came with them. The fact that
we still have our lives would come shortly there after. It is only natural for us as humans to be worried
about our material things A trait I most likely would never lose would be my joking manner. I believe
humor can carry you through the most difficult times in your life. I try not to take myself too seriously,
because in the end, what good what it do? Even though it may seem like the end of the world, life goes
on. So why not laugh during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on how you view it, it can be both a positive and a negative trait. On one hand
stubbornness is a positive attribute, because I would never be pressured to do something I do not want
to. But on the other my stubbornness can be a negative trait, because I will not be as willing to do
something I do not want to do. It depends on the situation in which it is beneficial. To my parent s and
most of my friends disliking, I am very sarcastic. Sarcasm This one also touches on the joking manner
trait. Since I seldom take myself seriously, I usually am sarcastic in my replies. It is another
characteristic that can be viewed as a good or bad thing. A lot of people do not appreciate my sarcasm,
due to the fact that it is too frequent. I do believe that sarcasm is a sort of smart peoples humor. My
sense of humor takes some thinking, and if you are not quick to catch on, you most likely would not
find it funny. A more physical attribute than a characteristic would be my crazy hair. Over the years
my messy hair has become a sort of trademark amongst my peers at school or other places. I often
receive jokes on my hair and attained the nickname Squirrely . I laugh with them because it is all in
good fun, and well true

Gender Roles Of Women And Women
Gender is one of the greatest factors that can determine how we define ourselves and others. Although
gender is determined at birth for many, it does not influence one s identity of self until a later age.
How society views the roles of each gender influences how a person views themselves. As the views
changes, so does one s identity. In the past, the roles of men and women were defined and separated.
Men were expected to provide income for the family, while women were expected to take care of the
home. Doing things outside these roles caused negative reactions from the community and frowned
upon. Today, there is still a difference between men and women, but a lot of the roles have become
acceptable for both. Within my culture, gender roles have generally been set and defined to conform to
preexisting traditions. Men were viewed as strong and the bread earner and women were weak,
unintelligent family care takers. To this day, I feel this notion still exists in the contemporary society
due to the deep seated nature of Confucianism in the Chinese culture. Even in Chinese school, we
were assigned gender roles and taught proverbial stories instilled with concepts regarding women s
inferiority and subordination to men by nature. These gender constructs were enforced beyond
childhood and some of my Chinese classes even imposed gender specific behavioral conventions.
Many of my textbooks would mainly revolve around male characters as opposed to female characters
and there were

Brittany and her team were approached by community leaders in Dallas where Brittany was living
who wanted to see if this model could translate in their own city. There was a need to help women in
Dallas. Women who were escaping domestic abuse, were victims of sex trafficking, or were formerly
incarcerated and struggling to enter the workforce. Akola ran a pilot in 2015 and found its model
translated well in Dallas, but was in need of a few adjustments. The snafu was that a living wage in
Uganda is obviously much different than in Dallas. Women working in our mass retail line [in
Uganda] were making $7 to $8 an hour for jewelry that s under $100, Brittany says. Their goal was to
provide women with a $15 wage in Dallas. In order to make ends meet, an elevated jewelry line was
created with pieces ranging from $295 to $500 prices that could support a $15 wage. Although the
Uganda line was now retailing at hundreds of stores throughout the U.S., finding retailers to carry the
luxury line was a different challenge. For the most part, the line was only available at local luxury
boutiques in

Sir Galahad And Sir Gawain Comparison
Arthurian stories have been around for hundreds of years, and many people still read them today. Sir
Gawain, in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by the Pearl Poet, is a righteous, noble, and loyal knight
along with Sir Galahad in Le Morte D Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory. Sir Gawain and Sir Galahad are
similar because both are very religious, but they are also different in the fact that Sir Galahad is a
considered a perfect knight and Sir Gawain does not quite meet that level. Sir Gawain and Sir Galahad
are similar because both are very religious. Sir Gawain is religious because he refuses to sleep with
the lady of the castle when she comes in his room and tries to seduce him. He does not fall for her
charms because it is against the Code of Chivalry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sir Gawain is not perfect because when Launcelot killed Sir Gawain s brothers, Sir Gaheris and Sir
Gareth, Sir Gawain got angry and wanted revenge against him. Majesty, as I am your subject and a
knight, so I swear that I shall be revenged upon Sir Launcelot. I pray you muster your armies. In your
cause and in mine we shall march against them; and even if we march through seven realms, I shall
not stay until Sir Launcelot is dead, or I am (502). Since Sir Gawain wants to kill Sir Launcelot, this
does not make him a Christian role model. On the contrary, Sir Galahad never did anything immoral
and stayed pure. He is considered a perfect knight. Sir Galahad, flower of all knighthood, whose
coming I have awaited for so long, welcome! I pray you take me in your arms and hold me to your
breast, for you alone, true servant of Christ that you are, possess the virginity of the white lily together
with the virtue of the burning rose: qualities of the Holy Ghost, by which my flesh shall be made
young again (442). King Mordrayns said Sir Galahad is the flower of all knighthood , which portrays
him to be one of the best knights. Sir Galahad is a perfect knight and stays true to the Lord while Sir
Gawain tries to be a perfect knight but is not because of how he can not stay true to God and performs

Antimicrobial and Other Therapeutic Properties of Spices
Spices are natural compounds derived from different parts of a plant which are commonly used as
flavoring, aroma and preservatives. The essential oil content and oleoresins present in the spices have
given them the flavoring and aroma. In addition, the essential oil can also act as a natural preservative
in foods (Ceylan and Fung, 2004). Other than flavoring, aroma and preservatives, spices have many
therapeutic properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, chemopreventive and antifungal. The
antimicrobial properties of spices have led to the development of plant origin antibiotics so as to
overcome the antibiotic resistant problems. In addition, the anticancer, antioxidative and anti
inflammatory properties of spice extracts have help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dietary flavines and flavones exert their effects on signal transduction enzymes such as protein
tyrosine and focal adhesion kinases present on the cell surface, causing them to act as an effective
anticancer agents. Carcinogenesis of various organs can be suppressed by phytochemicals obtained in
spices, for example carotenoids, phenolic compounds and terpenoids (Kochhar, 2008). 1.3 SPICES AS
ANTIOXIDANT AGENTS Endogenous antioxidants present in spices are known to exert antioxidant
properties against oxidative stress. In addition, the presence of phenolic content such as phenolic acids
and flavonoids allow spices to act as natural food preservatives, preventing the deterioration of food
during processing and storage. Studies showed that phenolics can interact with a wide spectrum of
molecular targets central, including mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK), protein kinase C
(PKC), serine/threonine protein kinase, phase II antioxidant detoxifying enzymes as well as
downregulation of pro inflammatory enzymes (COX 2 and iNOS) (Soobrattee et al., 2005). 1.4

Titus Andronicus Revenge Quotes
The creator of Titus Andronicus is William Shakespeare. The subject I pick that identifies with current
circumstances is revenge. Revenge is the activity of incurring hurt or mischief on somebody for a
harm or wrong endured at their hands. The literary text I will use to examine the content is
personification. The reason personification is significant in the play is on account of Tamora suspected
that Titus was insane and came to visit him dressed as revenge. The reason I chose revenge as the
theme I feel relates to modern day situations is because, in the beginning of the play Titus slaughters
Tamora s child and when Titus figures out who assaulted Lavinia. The things Tamora does to get
vengeance on Titus for murdering her child, and what Titus does to the young men who assaulted his
little girl Lavinia. The result of revenge in the play is everybody winding up dead with the exception
of Titus child Lucius. I do believe that contrasts with current vengeance basically in light of the fact
that how everything happened except it likewise is relying upon the circumstance that you are in, yet I
don t think you would have anybody cooking individuals and serving them to their guardians. That is
just over the top. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

for murdering her child. Tamora convinces her children, Demetrius and Chiron, to execute Bassianus,

remove Lavinia s tongue and slash off her hands so she can t reveal her attackers verbally or in
writing. At that point Tamora helps Aaron, a brilliant mastermind, frame Titus children, Quintus and
Martius, for the homicide of Bassianus they are then sentenced to

A Study On Coors Brewing Company Essay
Executive Summary This case study is about Coors Brewing Company and their want to implement a
balanced scorecard (BSC) approach to their processes. Ken Rider, the designer of the project, has been
tasked with the job of exploring the BSC method and modifying an answer to their operations. The
goal of the BSC is to not only strengthen the recent Computer Integrated logistics (CIL) project, but to
guarantee compensation of staff is tied on to their contribution to the firm s strategic vision. This case
study looks at the evidences at hand and delivers 3 primary alternatives: to do nothing which might
probably widen the benchmarking gaps within the future, to implement the BSC immediately that
risks duplicating some of the processes of the CIL project or to require a wait and see approach which
might offer the firm 3 years to work out the success of the CIL project before implementing the BSC.
In weighing every different, it is determined that the suitable course is to start implementation of the
BSC immediately because the risks of waiting are too detrimental. The analysis recommends a
structure around which the BSC could be constructed and goes on to answer some of the questions
posed by workers about the logistics of applying BSC and how it may affect them individually. The
recommendation contains the use of an EVA analysis to construct the financial perspective along with
targeted yardsticks for the other measurements (wherever possible). Answer to Part 1

The Disputed Island Territories within the South China Sea and the Subsequent Buildup of Naval Forces The territorial disputes in the South China Sea have been a minor ongoing issue with multiple sovereign states, most notably Brunei, the Peoples Republic of China, the Republic of China, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, claiming overlapping territory in the Spratly Islands, Paracel Islands and the area around the Gulf of Tonkin. The overlapping claims began in 1876 with China s earliest documented claim to the islands ( Territorial Disputes, 2015). However, more recently these same nations have begun to be more aggravate aggressive in their claims and the issue is now on the center stage in world maritime affairs. With each of these ... One of protection. In order to accomplish this it is necessary for states to be able to implement goals on an international stage, thus requiring a certain amount of power. When it comes to the issue of obtaining power, two major methods become apparent. The control over space and the control over physical place. Both of these options available to states focus on power as Condign (based on force), Compensatory (the use of various resources) or Conditioned (result of persuasion), and their sources as Personality (individuals) and Property (their material resources) (Galbraith, 1983). Concepts of Power The first method is a more modern approach. Power via influence over territory instead of direct ownership has become the field which most modern day nations find themselves fighting. While control over place allows for direct manipulation, it is more costly than power through the use of space . This method has been used since the early 20th century as nations begin to realize that physical control of land is not essential. Instead countries can influence one another through things such as control over essential commodities, trade routes or political influence. Even with this being a more, politically correct, approach to control and involves less direct management, it is difficult to dispute the obvious advantages physical ... At Nudgee Beach, erosion was found to have occurred on the edges of the mangrove forest and along the mudflat shorelines. Erosion is typically influenced by natural factors and occurs when pieces of weathered rock or soil are moved typically by wind and water from one place to another. Shorelines with lots of sediment and sand are more inclined to be effected by erosional progression. Erosion may also be provoked and accelerated by human interference. For example, if the decision to clear trees and plants from an area is made, erosion is likely to occur as the root systems of plants work to hold the soil in place. If these root systems are removed and erosion does occur, environmental conditions such as; landslides and flooding are more likely to take place. Erosion may also cause other plants to tip over, have their underground roots exposed and damaged and contribute to the pollution of local waters; as a result of mud and soil runoff [26]. Erosion at Nudgee Beach was likely to have been influenced by natural factors; however, the development and extension of the Kedron Brook golfing course may contribute to the acceleration of erosional processes and further damage the mangrove ... In major countries in the world today, it is next to impossible to find practices that have existed to date bearing in mind the speedy population growth (Harry). Moreover, japan being one of the most industrialized countries in the world, one would think that the population should be thinking of more industrial expansion for the benefit of economic growth. Japan has however defied the odds by preserving their gardens not only for this generation but also for the generations to come. This is something in my opinion that is of keen interest. The uneven distribution of income in any given population is income inequality. In order for there to be income, there has to be several sources of income. Income may result from wages, rent, bank account interests, salaries or even profits made in business transactions ( Stiglitz, 2012). In simpler wording, the causes of inequality lie within endogenous causes and exogenous conditions. Endogenous causes of income inequality Endogenous causes are those causes that are unique and attached to an individual s characteristic. These characteristics lie in the ability of an individual to produce more than other individuals hence earning more than other individuals in the same market. These characteristics include better qualifications in carrying out a given job or other uncommon attributes that make the individual more valuable in the market place. The most common individualistic abilities sought after in the market include intelligence, charisma, personality and physical agility. An example of an individualistic attribute in use is intelligence, in the modern market, IQ tests used in measuring a person s intelligence directly reflects on the earning capability of that person. • 14. Modernism in Architecture Throughout history there have been many styles of architecture such as Greek, Roman, and Gothic which were designed to be suitable and representative to their time periods. As architecture moved towards a more secular epoch and away from the romance and traditions of earlier epochs, modernism became the new style (Rohe, 246). With the rise of this new style people began to wonder how modern architecture should be designed and whether older epochs should be used as precedents. In The Artless Word: Mies van der Rohe on the Building Art, Mies van der Rohe describes how modern architecture should be designed based on the present epoch, be true to its purpose, and make use of modern technology. The significance of earlier architecture is that the buildings by nature are impersonal works of entire eras (Rohe, 245). These buildings are pure representatives of the earlier epochs that symbolize the culture and style of the era. All building art arises out of its own epoch and can only manifest itself in addressing vital tasks with the means of its own time (245). The romance and traditions of past epochs have become meaningless in the modern age. For example, symbolism through grand embellishments which were once the noblest function of fine art and consider great components of architecture have become tasteless (Gropius, 49). Modern building art refuses to play a mere decorative role in our life and want to leave the aesthetic traditions of the past (Rohe, 241). Therefore, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Depending on how you view it, it can be both a positive and a negative trait. On one hand stubbornness is a positive attribute, because I would never be pressured to do something I do not want to. But on the other my stubbornness can be a negative trait, because I will not be as willing to do something I do not want to do. It depends on the situation in which it is beneficial. To my parent s and most of my friends disliking, I am very sarcastic. Sarcasm This one also touches on the joking manner trait. Since I seldom take myself seriously, I usually am sarcastic in my replies. It is another characteristic that can be viewed as a good or bad thing. A lot of people do not appreciate my sarcasm, due to the fact that it is too frequent. I do believe that sarcasm is a sort of smart peoples humor. My sense of humor takes some thinking, and if you are not quick to catch on, you most likely would not find it funny. A more physical attribute than a characteristic would be my crazy hair. • 25. Gender Roles Of Women And Women Gender is one of the greatest factors that can determine how we define ourselves and others. Although gender is determined at birth for many, it does not influence one s identity of self until a later age. How society views the roles of each gender influences how a person views themselves. As the views changes, so does one s identity. In the past, the roles of men and women were defined and separated. Men were expected to provide income for the family, while women were expected to take care of the home. Doing things outside these roles caused negative reactions from the community and frowned upon. Today, there is still a difference between men and women, but a lot of the roles have become acceptable for both. Within my culture, gender roles have generally been set and defined to conform to preexisting traditions. Men were viewed as strong and the bread earner and women were weak, unintelligent family care takers. To this day, I feel this notion still exists in the contemporary society due to the deep seated nature of Confucianism in the Chinese culture. Even in Chinese school, we were assigned gender roles and taught proverbial stories instilled with concepts regarding women s inferiority and subordination to men by nature. These gender constructs were enforced beyond childhood and some of my Chinese classes even imposed gender specific behavioral conventions. Many of my textbooks would mainly revolve around male characters as opposed to female characters and there were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brittany and her team were approached by community leaders in Dallas where Brittany was living who wanted to see if this model could translate in their own city. There was a need to help women in Dallas. Women who were escaping domestic abuse, were victims of sex trafficking, or were formerly incarcerated and struggling to enter the workforce. Akola ran a pilot in 2015 and found its model translated well in Dallas, but was in need of a few adjustments. The snafu was that a living wage in Uganda is obviously much different than in Dallas. Women working in our mass retail line [in Uganda] were making $7 to $8 an hour for jewelry that s under $100, Brittany says. Their goal was to provide women with a $15 wage in Dallas. In order to make ends meet, an elevated jewelry line was created with pieces ranging from $295 to $500 prices that could support a $15 wage. Although the Uganda line was now retailing at hundreds of stores throughout the U.S., finding retailers to carry the luxury line was a different challenge. • 28. Sir Galahad And Sir Gawain Comparison Arthurian stories have been around for hundreds of years, and many people still read them today. Sir Gawain, in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by the Pearl Poet, is a righteous, noble, and loyal knight along with Sir Galahad in Le Morte D Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory. Sir Gawain and Sir Galahad are similar because both are very religious, but they are also different in the fact that Sir Galahad is a considered a perfect knight and Sir Gawain does not quite meet that level. Sir Gawain and Sir Galahad are similar because both are very religious. Sir Gawain is religious because he refuses to sleep with the lady of the castle when she comes in his room and tries to seduce him. He does not fall for her charms because it is against the Code of Chivalry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sir Gawain is not perfect because when Launcelot killed Sir Gawain s brothers, Sir Gaheris and Sir Gareth, Sir Gawain got angry and wanted revenge against him. Majesty, as I am your subject and a knight, so I swear that I shall be revenged upon Sir Launcelot. I pray you muster your armies. In your cause and in mine we shall march against them; and even if we march through seven realms, I shall not stay until Sir Launcelot is dead, or I am (502). Since Sir Gawain wants to kill Sir Launcelot, this does not make him a Christian role model. On the contrary, Sir Galahad never did anything immoral and stayed pure. He is considered a perfect knight. Sir Galahad, flower of all knighthood, whose coming I have awaited for so long, welcome! I pray you take me in your arms and hold me to your breast, for you alone, true servant of Christ that you are, possess the virginity of the white lily together with the virtue of the burning rose: qualities of the Holy Ghost, by which my flesh shall be made young again (442). King Mordrayns said Sir Galahad is the flower of all knighthood , which portrays him to be one of the best knights. Sir Galahad is a perfect knight and stays true to the Lord while Sir Gawain tries to be a perfect knight but is not because of how he can not stay true to God and performs immoral, selfish ... • 29. Antimicrobial and Other Therapeutic Properties of Spices Spices are natural compounds derived from different parts of a plant which are commonly used as flavoring, aroma and preservatives. The essential oil content and oleoresins present in the spices have given them the flavoring and aroma. • 31. Titus Andronicus Revenge Quotes The creator of Titus Andronicus is William Shakespeare. The subject I pick that identifies with current circumstances is revenge. Revenge is the activity of incurring hurt or mischief on somebody for a harm or wrong endured at their hands. The literary text I will use to examine the content is personification. The reason personification is significant in the play is on account of Tamora suspected that Titus was insane and came to visit him dressed as revenge. The reason I chose revenge as the theme I feel relates to modern day situations is because, in the beginning of the play Titus slaughters Tamora s child and when Titus figures out who assaulted Lavinia. The things Tamora does to get vengeance on Titus for murdering her child, and what Titus does to the young men who assaulted his little girl Lavinia. The result of revenge in the play is everybody winding up dead with the exception of Titus child Lucius. I do believe that contrasts with current vengeance basically in light of the fact that how everything happened except it likewise is relying upon the circumstance that you are in, yet I don t think you would have anybody cooking individuals and serving them to their guardians. That is just over the top. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tamora continues to make Titus reality a horrible experience and she covertly plots revenge on Titus for murdering her child. • 32. A Study On Coors Brewing Company Essay Executive Summary This case study is about Coors Brewing Company and their want to implement a balanced scorecard (BSC) approach to their processes. Ken Rider, the designer of the project, has been tasked with the job of exploring the BSC method and modifying an answer to their operations. The goal of the BSC is to not only strengthen the recent Computer Integrated logistics (CIL) project, but to guarantee compensation of staff is tied on to their contribution to the firm s strategic vision. This case study looks at the evidences at hand and delivers 3 primary alternatives: to do nothing which might probably widen the benchmarking gaps within the future, to implement the BSC immediately that risks duplicating some of the processes of the CIL project or to require a wait and see approach which might offer the firm 3 years to work out the success of the CIL project before implementing the BSC. In weighing every different, it is determined that the suitable course is to start implementation of the BSC immediately because the risks of waiting are too detrimental. The analysis recommends a structure around which the BSC could be constructed and goes on to answer some of the questions posed by workers about the logistics of applying BSC and how it may affect them individually. The recommendation contains the use of an EVA analysis to construct the financial perspective along with targeted yardsticks for the other measurements (wherever possible). Answer to Part 1 ...
