The document provides an evaluation of an FMP (Final Major Project) that involved designing merchandise for a music artist. It summarizes the student's research, planning, time management, technical and aesthetic qualities of the products. Peer feedback noted that the products were well-suited to the target audience but could have more clearly displayed the music genre. The student agrees improvements could have included using a consistent color scheme, name or logo across both products to better connect them.

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to present my latest portfolio on LinkedIn, marking the culmination of my architectural journey thus far. Over the span of five years, I've been fortunate to acquire a wealth of knowledge under the guidance of esteemed professors and industry mentors. From rigorous academic pursuits to practical engagements, each experience has contributed to my growth and refinement as an architecture student. This portfolio not only showcases my projects but also underscores my attention to detail and to innovative architecture as a profession.
3. Research
• The first research I did was look at existing products such as…
• The overall strengths of my research was that I made a questionnaire that
was centred around my target audience. By also picking questions that
would help me choose the best suited products for my audience. I also
researched 3 existing product style and reviewed which one was most
aesthetically pleasing in terms and what it comes with .
• The weaknesses of my research were that I by only doing a questionnaire
was that only ten people answered my survey which doesn’t make it fair
to make a general assumption that the percentages taken into account
could have been completely different if more people had answered the
questionnaire .The next time I get the opportunity to
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning were that I used an existing product that would help me
discover what was visually pleasing
• Initial ideas – mind maps the mind maps I used helped me get all my ideas for product ideas .
• Pre-production: The strengths of my pre production were that it allowed me break down all
the important aspects of production such as health and safety’s and contingency planning
which helps me to display some of the potential issues and solutions of what could go wrong
when producing my product this overall helped because it saved me a lot of time
• , Style sheets, health and safety, resources
• The strengths of my style sheets were that they allowed me to represent the types of colours
and designs that inspired me to produce my products. The weaknesses of doing my style
sheets are that once I made them I would have to stick to going by that specific style.
5. Time Management
• Overall my schedule went mostly to plan I feel like a generally stuck by it which helped me to
construct all my production and written production. If I had more time to produce my work
then I would of included more detail into my merchandise such as more variety of filter
effects and tools. I would also of made more products than two. Furthermore to add to this I
would also say that I probably spent too long on production time and I should of simplified
my products while still making them to be creative . Sometimes I didn’t save files properly or
software let me down meaning it held me back significantly.
6. Technical Qualities
The similarities with the existing product and my product are they are both a similar kind of artist in terms of
the music they produce. They have both have overlays which makes them both look more aesthetically
pleasing. Some of the other things that make both products similar is the use of the black and white colour
scheme which makes a good contrast with each other and it blends well with the rest of the album cover.
We can see that from my product I have used many filter effects that help contrast the artist from the text, tools
such as saturation and vibrance allow you to do this. As well as other tools such as motion blur which allows you
to fade certain specific parts of the album which gives more of an artistic effect.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Overall I feel my work was creative in my album cover I used a lot of layers that allowed the artist to stand
out hugely. The image is cut out so it fits in with text which makes it look very tidy . The products also don’t
contain any offensive language or images which fits well with the target audience . In addition to that I
would say I like my vinyl I designed as its very retro but colourful. To give it such a rustic look I added an
overlay that I got from a website. However in the t shirt design I made it much more simple I didn’t use any
overlays however I did design the logo with the artists name below which was inspired by other artists.
8. Audience Appeal
I feel like my products have met my target audience as the target audience age is 16 and
above and the type of music which is hip hop and R&B and the style of artists is made for
this generation .The t shirt is also very trendy and stylish for a younger audience. The overall
look of my vinyl cover is a popular and up and coming style of artist. Also in the t shirt
design I used a simple black and white ratio and with a retro logo for the artists name I had
created. Above it was another symbol that I created with the letter M standing for majestic.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the products?
• From looking at all of the products I would say they are both well suited to there target
audience and are also very artistic and simplistic especially the t shirt design.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• To improve the products I have assessed I would say some of the things to improve would be
to make the style of music more obvious to the target group.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I liked the use of the colour choice on both products because they all contrast well and make
them more appealing for the target audience.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Some improvements to make for the products would be to add to the products would be to
make the products easier to recognise and more obvious for the target audience. I would also
like to see a name for the products or a chain.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• Looking at both of the products I would say I like them both especially the album cover which
has a retro gratify style that blends well with the artist .
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• To improve the products I would of made the two products a similar style and also give them
an identical name
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?Overall I would say that the feedback given was very agreeable and was
constructive to in the positives and negatives. In particular I agree with the fact that I could of
potentially added a particular name or logo that would of helped people identify the
products.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I would disagree that my products don’t display a type of music genre in my products
especially because the artist that features on my vinyl is a hippy looking artist that has a
typical style that is used by a similar style of artist.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
If I was to change anything with my products I would make them both similar in terms
of the colour scheme and design as they were completely different aesthetically. I
would also agree that I should of given my products a brand name or chain or logo
that would of helped people understand whether the products are related to each
other in. Furthermore I would of used the artists name on both pieces of
merchandise to allow the merchandise to be more appealing to the target audience.
