Proposal
◦ My proposal is effectively the start of planning for my project. It involves items such as
rationales and the concept, creating a base idea for what I would develop over time. This is
usually not my strongest area, so I wanted to make sure I added plenty of detail into it. This
made my proposal a lot more detailed than it used to be, a lot more than from my FMP last
year. There are plenty of positives with this, for example, I'm very pleased with this, for example,
I'm very pleased with how my rationale turned out. There's a lot of detail in it and I've spent a lot
of time making it near perfect. I also think my timetable is a big strength. It has a simple list of
tasks that I'd need to complete each week but it also has a lot of detail, making it one of my
best areas in my proposal. It proved to be very useful and I used it consistently throughout my
FMP. One area of my proposal that I think I need to improve on is the audience classification.
There looks to be a lot of detail, however I don't really think I believe some of the things I have
written within the document. For example, I don't really think audience classification has a lot to
do with social class. People of all classes like podcasts, so it would be a difficult one to judge.
Context and Theory - Presentation
◦ Context and theory was a very important way to begin with my PowerPoint presentations. I did
some research on various podcast creators and other assortments of people. This gave me
plenty of ideas and what style I want to do. So far I don't really have much of a style, and it's just
a mesh of other podcaster styles, so this was a good way of helping me find my own. The
biggest positive from this is my contextual research element. I had plenty of detail about the
podcast styles of different themes and my contextual research was finished well. What I didn't
like as much was my theoretical research. Although I had plenty of information, I didn't really
feel like it was very useful to me. Yes, its benificial to obtain some theoretical knowledge for my
brain, however it didn't really come into use for the rest of the project.
Research- Presentation
◦ Research is a very large PowerPoint consisting of the research of different products, audience
research and subject research. This was very important as I learnt a lot about what a specific
audience wants and doesn't want, as well as looking at a variety of podcasts learning about
staples of the genre and finding inspersion for certain sound effects. I admit there were positives
and negatives with my research, but I was still pleased with it because of the information it gave
me, one example of this would be the story and the origins of it. The part I am most pleased
with is the survey. It was very useful and I became more knowledgeable about the genre It was
in my target audience do and don't want to listen to a podcast of my genre. The biggest
negative, in my opinion, is the subject research. Although there is wide variety of podcasts, there
isn't really a lot of information on them.
Problem Solving
◦ The problem solving presentation involves the discussion of the technical and practical
problems I may come across, the theoretical problems, and my experiments. It's a shorter
presentation, however it's one that's equally as important as all the others. It involves a lot of
lists about what could go wrong, and how I could solve it if it happened. This proved to be very
useful as something unexpected and horrible happened which I previously mentioned, a global
pandemic that stopped me from being able to go to college. My best area from this section was
my experiments. I did a lot that ended up helping me when production finally came along. As
you can see from the first experiment, there's a lot of similarties between it and my final podcast
logo, showing how my experiments came into use. My biggest weakness with this presentation
is my technical problems. Although I have a lot on there, thy're all generic problems. Thy're
important to write down too, of course, but there's nothing more specific than the generic
items.
Planning
◦ For planning, I had a wide variety of techniques to help me through production. It was a
incredibly detailed PowerPoint, and one of the more enjoyable ones to make. It consists of
different variations of planning, for example, scrips and music and sound effects lists. It also has
everything to do with my production, figuring out microphone settings, location scounting,
making the script, etc.
◦ There's plenty of positives to this. The biggest in my opinion is the script. It allowed me to have
a outline of what I needed to say for my podcast. A negative of this has to be my weekly
production plan. It wasn't really useful at all, it's just a summery of what I wrote down in my
proposal, so I didn't use it as much as all the other areas in my production. Next time I do
something like this, I'll probably just leave it out and concentrate more on the parts that I'll use.
Aesthetic Qualities
◦ I think that my final product is creative and unique. The visual style for all my products would be
that they all have Japanese styled or inspired by Japan and the content of all my products is to
promote my podcast. I have stuck by the Japanese style and ideas I had discussed in my
planning. If I was to improve my project I would try to make the sound effect transitions in my
podcast cleaner. I think the best thing I made for this project was the podcast episode and logo
because I added enough detail and made them unique. I am happy with the size and amount of
the pixels that I chose to use that I used to create the size of my documents. I think that my
biggest strength was sticking to the ideas, theme and the colour scheme that I had chosen in
my planning. I think my weakness was creating all the aspects of the podcast so they all had
similar amount of detail.
Audience Appeal
◦ The overall audience that my finished products would appeal to is anybody from all ages and
from all sex’s. It still doesn’t specially aim at any social group or psychographic. My final piece
would also appeal to anybody who wants to listen to my podcast story lovers and non story
lovers. I chose these because I know a lot of people would be intrested in . Not everybody will
be interested in my products because not as many people are interested in story based
podcasts . I think people who are interested in my podcast and the stories that I would tell
because my podcasts is inclusive of all genders and all ages. My products would appeal to them
because my products will cheap to buy because I would sell them to people that belong
the belongers class and it would also apply to all genders because my team is all inclusive of all
genders.
PEER FEEDBACK
Peer Feedback 1
1. Are the sound levels consistent throughout?
2. Yes they sound very consistent throughout the podcast
3. Are the audio transitions clean
4. Yes they are really seemlessly clean
5. In the music too distracting in some areas?
6. It wasn't distracting at all
7. Are the images and copywriting engaging?
Yes its clear to read and the graphics are really clear
Peer Feedback 2
◦ I have previously seen your poster, but I find it just as effective, with a simplistic but clear colour scheme and minimal
layers.
◦ It was evident that you spent time on practicing, as you were well spoken at a good pace (aside for the occasional trips).
◦ At first, it felt like I was in a massage parlour, as the music and the words, merged into a soothing sound, which probably
isn't the aim unless your reading a tale to get a child to sleep.
◦ I really enjoyed the use of spirited away and the opera woman worked, but wondered what the 1:30 long 'nothingness,' and
the end was for and am most curious on what the name of the songs you used were.
◦ The sound effects were a pleasant surprise and my only complaint on those regards, would be the final alien effect didn't
quite work as well.
◦ The sound volume was consistent, but it felt the quality occasionally changed.
◦ I'm not sure what images you are talking about, as I could only see the title and audio.
◦ I would say that the one thing that could do with more practice, would be the pronunciations, as you just lacked the
confidence. I felt that if you managed to project confidence with pronunciation, then it might not be as noticeable
(especially for someone who knows how its meant to be pronounced in Japanese).
