PRODUCTION
PROCESS
EVALUATION
The research process was hard due to me not actually knowing
fully what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to do a horror but I wasn’t
sure what kind of horror I wanted to make, whether it was going to
more psychological or more full of jump scares. The research that
helped me the most were the mood board because by then I had
really got a grasp of what I wanted to do. The mind maps also
helped me cancel out ideas that weren’t really going anywhere and
it also helped me work out what I really wanted to do. The primary
research helped me work out what was scarier and helped me work
out what kind of horror I wanted to make.
In the planning we did a lot of different things within the pre-
production pro-forma. We planned the general storyline within
structural breakdowns and story boards which went well once I had
a general idea. It helped me work out what scenes I needed and
the length of them. I definitely would use these planning techniques
again. We then went on to make shot lists which were more
detailed which helped us know what shots we needed and again
how long they needed to be to fit the time limit. This technique
helped me a lot with having a variety of types of shots and camera
angles. I think the whole power point dedicated to the planning
helped me be a lot more organised. Even though things that I had
tried to plan in advance hadn’t worked out which caused a change
in filming which I managed to overcome due to my planning.
I personally think I have managed the time that I had well enough
but I think it could have been better. I first filmed then looked at the
footage which made me realise I had to film again in the final week
which has meant a few things have had to been done in less time
than what I would’ve originally liked to spend on them but I think
that the end product isn’t a reflection of this due to being very
happy with the final product. However I would like to have done the
filming earlier into the process so I could have had more time on
everything else.
I used my own camera for the film which I think worked well. This was due to
me not being in college to borrow a camera. I filmed it first and then when I
looked at the footage it was shaky and dark therefore I borrowed a tripod
from college and re-filmed which made the footage a lot better and smoother
therefore gave me footage I could work with. The filming process was quite
simple and didn't’t have many problems other than having to re-film. The
techniques that I used were simple. Such as panning and different types of
camera shots such as long shots, mid shots and close ups.
Within the audio part I didn’t do a lot. I got some music to put behind
which worked well with the film in general as it was simple and high which
was going with the childish idea of the doll and gave more of an eerie
vibe within the film. Also before Amy got the bruises I inserted a wind
sound effect witch was suppose to connote the idea of the spirit moving
towards her. I also inserted a sound effect for the keys which just helped
with the general sound and added my dynamics to the audio.
The editing was fairly simple one I go the footage I needed. I had to cut one
scene due to not being able fix the darkness of the footage and I didn’t have
time to re-film the shots. The shots worked well together and editing it was
very smooth and simple. Editing the sound effects were slightly harder as
its hard to get it in time with the actions and shots but in conclusion my
editing process was pretty simple to do. Next time i think i would add more
sound effects though to add more interest to the film.
I love the way my film looks. Due to the lighting and quality it looks like an
old fashioned movie which gives it more of a vintage film which matches
with the whole theme of the doll and the music which I love. I think it was
quite creative. I think the aesthetic is a quite aquired taste though I think its
very specific and could have been more broad.
I think I have appealed to my target audience within my film and included some
classic horror techniques and things that make the film exactly how I wanted it
to be. I used my research within my questionare to work out what to include in
my horror film and what kind of horror film to make and I think the results from
that being a psychological horror about a porcelain doll has definitely worked
very well.

 What did you like about the product?
 I loved the aesthetic of it and how it looked quite old. It added to the
creepyness of the film.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I think that there could have been a more variation of camera angles
and types of shots, less long/mid shots.
 What did you like about the product?
 I liked the idea behind the film I found it unique to anything I had
watched before and very interesting.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 However I found the story line fairly hard to follow and scenes
should've had more distintive endings.
 What did you like about the product?
 I liked the way the film was put out I think it was a different kind of
horror to any I'd watched before because it wasn’t scary as much as it
was creepy.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
 I think that there could be more movement in the camera and different
types of shots within the film to add more depth.
 What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I definitely agree with the aesthetic and the fact there could be more
difference in the camera shots and movement.
 What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 I don’t think the story line is hard to follow and even if it is it adds to
the psychological part of the film and makes the audience have to
think more.
 I agree with most of the feedback I have received. I am really happy
that what I have produced is enjoyed by the target audience and
people who aren't my specific audience as well as I got a range of
people to fill out feedback within my evaluation.

We planned the general storyline within structural breakdowns and story boards which went well once I had a general idea. It helped me work out what scenes I needed and the length of them. However I would like to have done the filming earlier into the process so I could have had more time on everything else.
  • 6. I used my own camera for the film which I think worked well. This was due to me not being in college to borrow a camera. I filmed it first and then when I looked at the footage it was shaky and dark therefore I borrowed a tripod from college and re-filmed which made the footage a lot better and smoother therefore gave me footage I could work with. The filming process was quite simple and didn't’t have many problems other than having to re-film. The techniques that I used were simple. Such as panning and different types of camera shots such as long shots, mid shots and close ups.
  • 7. Within the audio part I didn’t do a lot. I got some music to put behind which worked well with the film in general as it was simple and high which was going with the childish idea of the doll and gave more of an eerie vibe within the film. Also before Amy got the bruises I inserted a wind sound effect witch was suppose to connote the idea of the spirit moving towards her. I also inserted a sound effect for the keys which just helped with the general sound and added my dynamics to the audio.
  • 8. The editing was fairly simple one I go the footage I needed. I had to cut one scene due to not being able fix the darkness of the footage and I didn’t have time to re-film the shots. • 9. I love the way my film looks. Due to the lighting and quality it looks like an old fashioned movie which gives it more of a vintage film which matches with the whole theme of the doll and the music which I love. I think it was quite creative. I think the aesthetic is a quite aquired taste though I think its very specific and could have been more broad.
  • 10. I think I have appealed to my target audience within my film and included some classic horror techniques and things that make the film exactly how I wanted it to be. I used my research within my questionare to work out what to include in my horror film and what kind of horror film to make and I think the results from that being a psychological horror about a porcelain doll has definitely worked very well.
