Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

2. Week 1
Last week we begun work on people who had influenced our ideas for
our work, such as Quentin Tarantino and others We were also told to
do a presentation on certain eras and areas of cinema. I was given the
task of researching classic Hollywood for my presentation. I was given
and then completed a presentation on the Classic Hollywood era for
film studies. I felt the first week of the course a bit overwhelming but I
know I’ll be able to adjust and cope with the work more as the year
goes on. I am going to have to find time in the week to come into
college and do the work.
3. Week 2
In my second week on the course I picked a topic for my social media
video, I will be discussing how The New Mutants social media
advertisement was affected throughout its many delays over the years.
I also begun the planning document for shooting the video. I showed
my presentation on Classic Hollywood to my film studies class and I’m
yet to receive my grade for it. I think I did well on my presentation
although compared to the others I don’t think mine was as creative in
terms of how it looked. I wish I had added some creative designs to
match the topic of the presentation.
4. Week 3
On third week of the course I completed the planning document and
am still currently working on my research document. I have also begun
work on a presentation of all the other types/eras of Hollywood, such
as new Hollywood, national and transnational Hollywood. In our theory
class we were given our first task of the year which will be due in
January. One of the things I could’ve done better is a more detailed
shot list, including prop inclusion and lighting. I also wish I hadn’t
rushed the work and rather spent more time on it, if so I would have
been able to give it more detail.
5. Week 4
On my fourth week on the course I filmed all the footage I need for my social
media video in the studio and begun exporting the videos onto my iPad via
email the next day. The filming went well, but the microphone I was given
didn’t fit the audio jack in my canon camera, so I placed my iPhone
somewhere else in the room and left it on record because I wasn’t certain on
how good the microphone quality was. Later when I played the audio of the
video through my iPad I found the audio sound decent enough to not need
syncing up with the audio on my iPhone. My footage itself looks good but I
wish I had remembered to focus the lens a bit more, I also wish I had
remembered to clear the card before I used it, because the card became full
at one point and I had to clear the card of old footage I didn’t need which
took some time.
6. Week 5
My fifth week of the course was rather a slow one. I gained more
screen recordings for my video project, as well as started work on my
PowerPoint for film studies based on different types of narratives there
are. Me and Sam worked on it together and we picked which 3
narratives we would work on, I chose to do Hollywood, Alternative and
non-western narrative structure. Finding information on the first one
was easy but the other two were rather tricky, I couldn’t even find any
examples of a non-western narrative, so Sam recommended I look at a
kishōtenketsu narrative instead.
7. Week 6
On the 6th week of the course I completed the assignment on the
narrative forms with Sam. He had done his side of the PowerPoint and
combined our two documents into one, sent it to me then I sent it to
Scott via Microsoft teams. I like how our work ended up and I am
feeling positive about getting feedback from it. I have continued
exporting and editing footage for my social media video project for
Josh, I feel the editing is going well but I need to find a way to make it
as short as I can, as the ideal limited runtime for the project is 2-3
minutes. I am begging the decide which information is relevant and
which can be cut out.
