RESEARCH
For research I looked at 5 other music videos. By doing
this I was able to gain ideas for my own in terms of style.
I was really helpful and I found a lot inspiration which I
think heavily helped and influenced my video.
However research can be tricky when you don’t know
what to look for and that can use up time where you
could be working on the actual product during that time
so in some cases it could be considered time wasting. I
wish I included more of those ideas from those products
so it seems more influenced but I liked how the original
product turned out.
PLANNING
For planning we did mind maps of what we were going to
do for our product, this helped us plan out what genre it
was going to be, what sort of music we were going to
include and what the video itself would look like. We also
did shot-lists for the video so we could plan what we
where going to shoot, when and how we were going to
shoot it. These were both very useful.
Planning can be complicated and difficult to do because
you need to take time to work everything out and find out
what you want to do and that time could as well be spent
on doing the actual product/video.
TIME MANAGEMENT
I managed my time well, the video was uploaded
onto YouTube and shared the link onto blogger as
well as finish all the PowerPoints in time for the
deadline. I was able to make my video and not rush
it at any stage so my video did not feel rushed and
instead felt more delicate and emotional.
I did not need any more time for my product.
Everything worked out as well as I wanted it to.
There was not much more that I wanted to include.
TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
Similarities
• Both are holding signs
that say important things
about the video
• Both are wearing the same
clothes(Plain white shirt,
blue jeans)
• Both are from modern
music videos
Differences
• One is in black and white
• One is a girl, the other is a
boy
• They take place in
different locations
TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
Similarities
• Both are in back and white
• Both have an interesting form
of light
Differences
• One is fully black and white
while the other has a few
colourful parts
• One is set in a room full of
musical instruments the other
is just a bedroom
• On has a window as a light
and the other has an actual
light from above.
AESTHETIC QUALITIES
My work looks good and very
creative with the black and white
filter, the way it uses mostly
natural lighting and includes
some really nice shots. I am very
proud of it and I hope it gets a lot
of attention online.
If I were to go back and make
some changes and might try and
make the speech shorter there
fore I would have less to cut out
the video, I would also have some
less harsh edits in some scenes.
AUDIENCE APPEAL
I appealed to my target audience by including
the theme of autism and the music genre of
indie-folk. I talked about my autism and how I
feel whilst having the indie song playing over.
(No dialogue is said in the video.) This is what
my audience wanted to see and I gave I t them.
PEER

FEEDBACK 1-BEN
What did you like about the product?
 I liked that he had a clear story of what it was about.
 I also thought that the locations worked well with the audio
and helped to set the more depressed mood.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
 I thought that the start of the video was confusing as it was quiet and
was unsure what was happening.
FEEDBACK 2-SAM
What did you like about the product?
 I liked how the signs laid out the context of the story and the music
alongside this made the video overall very emotional.
 This was one of the only videos which actually made me feel something
and seemed to lay out an actual storyline, whereas others of a similar
quality have no actual context behind them.
 On top of that I liked the added sequences which eventually lead up the
penultimate music sequences, as they add to the intended emotional feel
of the video, however…
What improvements could have been made to the product?
 These silent sequences before the music begins appear to be just a little
bit stretched out for my liking and could force external audience members
to click away out of boredom.
 The only section which took me out of this emotional rollercoaster, was
the scene in which you planted yourself upon a post (which went up your
anus). This simply made me laugh, because its quite a strange scenario,
FEEDBACK 3-FRED
What did you like about the product?
 Good cinematography, editing, visually engaging.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
 Slightly too preachy for me, some harsh edits.
PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
 I agree that the video has some really good cinematography.
 I agree that the beginning where I’m getting out of bed does drag for
a bit.
 The locations worked well and fit the story.
 The video does tend to have some harsh edits at certain moments.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
 I disagree that the video is “preachy”.
 I don’t think the beginning of the video is confusing.
PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
 If I could change anything about the video I would make
the beginning of the video where I’m getting of bed a
bit shorter so it doesn’t drag and/or waste anytime and
so the audience members don’t click away put of
boredom. I would include more cinematography and
establishing shots. I would fix some of the ‘harsh edits’
to make it look and feel nicer and easier to watch. I
would in a way try and include more emotion in the
video so the audience can feel even more from it.
