Essay about Kodak Fujifilm
Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm Sandra Greene BUS 302 Professor Cheryl J. Johnson 2 Feb, 2013
Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm 1. Describe the history and core business of each company. Kodak was
considered the Google of its day. It was founded in 1880 and known for its pioneering technology and
innovative marketing. You press the button, we do the rest, was its slogan in 1888. By 1976 Kodak
accounted for 90% of film and 85% of camera sales in America. Until the 1990s it was regularly rated
one of the world s five most valuable brands (The Last Kodak Moment, 2012). The business was built

Fujifilm, on the other hand, set goals and implemented them. One goal was to penetrate the U.S.
market and make a major impact. They succeeded. When they realized that there was a move towards
digital, they prepared for it and then acquired new business lines. The developed a cosmetics line, they
found new outlets for its film expertise (in one sort of film they have 100% market share). They
slashed costs and jobs and spent millions on a mass reconstruction. The 60% of profits they loss from
film was replaced with new revenue. They embrace change and diversity to become a more effective
force for a better future (Fujifilm) (The Last Kodak Moment, 2012). Our Commitment 4. Evaluate
each company s approach to ethics and social responsibility and the impact those approaches have had
on each company s profitability. Kodak s case study tells the story of a long standing company with a
reputation for social responsibility earned through its community activities, its implied commitment to
lifetime employment, and its high wage and comprehensive fringe benefit policies (Kochan, 1999).
However, as their market position declined in market there was an increased need to focus on costs.
One way to do this was a long and slow process of layoffs which obliterated employee trust. In the
end they realized that their old belief that a socially responsible employer guaranteed jobs for life was

Racism And The American Civil War
The illusion that Racism is the same creates disturbing comments when discussing current events.
Racism is defined as someone who believes their race is the superior race. The current events with the
confederate flags has brought about conversation that these people are racist. This term is correct but
misused when discussing the context for the choice of words. Society believes these individuals are
racist because displaying the flag is assumed to display hatred. These people who proudly display the
confederate flag are racist because they believe the white race is the supreme race. There is nothing
wrong with that idea and they have that right to that opinion. Our government is built on the principle
of freedom of speech and we can t apply this natural right to a one way street.
It was that in 1860 to 1865 that the American Civil War widely known as the civil war took place, to
determine survival of the union or independence of the confederacy. Among the 34 states, seven
southern states South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas that the
secession formed the United States confederacy, mostly known as the south . The south grew upon to
include eleven states, although they claimed 13 Missouri and Kentucky that weren t diplomatically
recognized. However during this time period and all the conspiracy, of the confederate battle flag
known as the southern cross came to the surface of what the civil war was all about, and was it

Safety In The Giver
Measures are always being taken to ensure the safety of the people which makes the society in which
Jonas lives very safe. These measures are what makes the community a safe place to live in. In the
Giver written by Lois Lowry the society that is being shown is taking safety to another level. The
leaders of this society are doing everything they can to protect the citizens. When a jet flew over the
town the leaders did not hesitate to bring everyone to shelter. All of the citizens were ordered to go to
the nearest building and stay there (Lowry 2). This is just a jet and if we saw one in the society we live
in, nothing would be done to protect the citizens because it is not a big deal. So we can already state
this place is ten times safer

Happiness Is The Best Thing Essay
For Aristotle, happiness is the best thing, for it is a thing for and in itself. Happiness is derived from
ethics, and ethics is answer to how you achieve happiness. Virtue is a means in which ethics are
preformed and are derived from passions and actions. That is, passions and actions are means in which
ethical virtue is performed in order to gain happiness. Aristotle believes that for anything to be known
it must derive from four causes. From these causes we understand what ethics is and its relation to the
soul, virtue and how these are used to obtain happiness. Though happiness is the final goal it still must
be journeyed through introspective and active movements by the self. The four causes are a means to
argue a philosophical question. They include efficient causes; the source of movement that will be
understood as the why or by which. Material cause is concerned with the out of which and formal
cause deals with form or shape and is understood as the into which or what was being. The purpose of
these causes is to come to a conclusion, the final cause, or rather an end or goal; the desire that the
original philosophical question is concerned with and it is understood as for the sake of which. It is by
these four causes we can understand what ethics deals with and how we understand it s purpose.
Ethics is concerned with what is the good life for me, and the final cause will be happiness. The
remaining causes will help in understanding why activity and emotions

Baroque Art Depicted the Religious Tensions During that...
Art in the Baroque period was used to depict the religious tensions present at the time. Coincidentally,
the philosophy of the time also played a key role in addressing the tensions that existed during the
period. As a result of the focus on similar aspects of the society, there emerged numerous similarities
between the artwork of the time and the ideas expressed by philosophers such as Descartes and
Leibniz. It is critical to assess the views of the different philosophers in order to determine how the
artwork was similar to their perceptions of the world. This essay addresses the views of Descartes in
relation to the principles of Baroque art. In particular, the essay focuses on the works of Vermeer and
Rembrandt, seeking to determine how their art relates to the philosophical views of Descartes.
Rembrandt
Rembrandt was one of the most influential Baroque artists of the 17th century, with popular works
such as the Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp, the Night Watch, and Angel Leaving Tobit and Tobias (Open
University of Kaohsiung). His success was based on the fact that his work did not go out of fashion.
The spiritual life of Holland during the Baroque period required him because he was relevant in
presenting ideas about the period in his work. Some of the most successful works of Rembrandt were
depictions of biblical stories that he presented in highly relevant detail. The painter represented the
scriptures from the Bible in the minutest detail by integrating it with his own

Genetically Modified Organisms
Transgenic species are produce by genetic engineering. Genetic engineering involves the process of
taking samples of one species genes/DNA and transferring it into a new host cell, this cell containing
the DNA will then grow into the new cell creating a transgenic species. DNA samples can also be
inserted into the new species by acting as a virus or by using a micro pipette injection. Transgenic
species are mainly used in fruit and vegetables to prevent pests eating the food supply. Genetic
engineering is also used for commercial purposes. One example of successful transgenic species is a
strawberry plant with a salmon gene inserted into it, the salmon gene helps the strawberries grow in a
colder environment. These crops are also known as GMO s (genetically modified organisms).
Analyse information from secondary sources to identify examples of the use of transgenic species and
use available evidence to debate the ethical issues arising from the development and use of transgenic
species.

Eating Meat: Biological Necessity, or Choice? The first article I chose to use for my research paper, is
from the scientific journal American Scientist, called Meat Eating Among the Earliest Humans,
written by Briana Pobiner who is a paleoanthropologist at the Smithsonian s National Museum of
Natural History. In this article, Pobiner discusses the biological evolution of humans, how human meat
consumption evolved over time to facilitate the growth of human brain size to become the intelligent
and sentient beings we are today, and whether or not we still need to eat meat as our ancestors did.
Pobiner references many other scientists observations and discoveries. For example, she uses the
observations of a Mister Sherwood Washburn from the University of California at Berkeley to
expound upon how early findings of human meat consumptions may have been wrong. According to
Washburn, most current carnivores leave the skull and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they are easily understood questions. This article adds value to my research paper because it brings the
humanity of eating meat into the equation. So as my research essay moves from the human biological
need, or lack thereof, to consume meat, this article will help me bridge the gap because of the wide
variety of opinions and facts that are presented within it. It will help my research paper immensely
that Yount took the time to ask questions often posed to vegetarians, omnivores, and so on, so as to not

Characteristics Of Good People
The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about
Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main
characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly
walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people
either.
If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost
positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are
predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want
to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out
against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives;
nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed.
Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so,
he/she can make an effort to remedy them.
With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what

Battle Of San Juan Hill Essay
The Battle of San Juan Hill July 1, 1898 was one of the bloodiest battles of The Spanish American
War. The battle of San Juan Hill also known as San Juan Heights was of strategic importance because
it permitted the Americans to place guns above the harbor at Santiago. The gun positions overlooking
the harbor prevented the Spanish Navy from escaping which ultimately led to their land forces
surrendering shortly after the loss of San Juan Hill. (United States History) U.S. General William
Shafter ordered the attack on El Caney and San Juan Hill. General Shafter had hoped to take El Caney
prior to beginning the push for San Juan Hill but the Spanish defenders proved themselves to be
tenacious and managed to hold off a great number of American attackers. The steadfast defense of the
Spanish prevented the Americans from securing El Caney until late in the afternoon. Spanish gunfire
managed to take out hundreds of Americans but failed stop an estimated 8,000 troops from continuing
on towards San Juan Hill. Troops were then split into two flanks at the base of the heights in order to
take San Juan Hill and Kettle Hill with the order from Lieutenant John Miley that the heights must be
taken at all hazards . (History.com, 2010) What took place after the units were given the order to begin
the assault depends on which participant told the story. The lesser publicized accounts bring into
question whether Teddy Roosevelt actually led the charge up San Juan Hill

Essay on The Underdogs by Mariano Azuela
Author Mariano Azuela s novel of the Mexican revolution, The Underdogs, conveys a fictional
representation of the revolution and the effects it had on the Mexican men and women who lived
during that time. The revolutionary rebels were composed of different men grouped together to form
small militias against the Federalists, in turn sending them on journeys to various towns, for long
periods of time. Intense fighting claimed the lives of many, leaving women and children behind to
fend for themselves. Towns were devastated forcing their entire populations to seek refuge elsewhere.

Some revolutionaries were Federalist deserters, who were forced to join the Federalist army. Azuela
refers to a soldier who was abducted from his home in the middle of the night by Federalists, and
woke up a soldier, twenty five miles from his home (26). Luis Cervantes, a medical student in Azuela
s The Underdogs, wrote a piece in favor of the revolution... [and] as a result, they persecuted [him],

The chaotic revolution bread violence and confusion amongst the ill informed population. As a result,
families fled southward in search for a safe haven. Trains were overloaded with people; there was
scarcity of trucks and coaches; hundreds of people, panic stricken, walked along the highroad with
their belongings in a pack slung over their shoulders (Azuela 46). Women, who were left behind while
their husbands fought, were faced with extensive abuse from Federalist soldiers. Young women were
abducted and raped, and at times impregnated. In The Underdogs, soldiers carried away Senora

with revolvers at their waists, [and] cartridge belts across their breast (Azuela 86).

noticed throughout the world. Beekeepers started noticing that many of their honey bee colonies were
dying off, weakening, or completely leaving their hives. As the problem became more and more
prevalent, it was given the name Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Scientist studying the sudden
death and disappearance of the bees found problems that they were not able to explain. The honey bee

The Archetypal Themes Of Feminism In Beauty And The Beast
In the 1991 movie Beauty and the Beast the Narrator said, She warned him not to be deceived by
appearances, for beauty is found within. this quote refers to the archetypal theme of the Beauty and the
Beast. However, this archetypal theme of Beauty and the Beast is coincidentally parallel to the Shrek

the fairy tale story Beauty and the Beast is evaluated from the critical viewpoints of Archetypal,
Feminism, and Morals, readers may discover that Shrek shares the same viewpoints.
To analyze the critical viewpoint of feminism in the stories of Beauty the Beast and Shrek, certain
questions a feminist would ask should be answered. For instance, Is the society in the story
Patriarchal? How does the society oppress women? The societies that Belle (Beauty the Beast) and
Fiona (Shrek) lived in were both patriarchal.Women were seen as objects instead of people with a vast
amount of capabilities.Regardless of Belle and Fiona s expectations from their fellow neighbors Belle

Why School Violence Have Such Of An Effect On Our Society...
Speech 131 T/TH 7:30 am Section 33282
Courtney Mathis ID # 2899247
Why does school violence have such of an effect on our society today? School violence is the
intentional use of physical force or power, group or community, with the behavior likely to cause
physical or psychological harm. Most school violence start from differences between teenagers. Like
for instance about some weeks ago this girl named Amy Joyner died over this boy. The girls that
jumped her was mad that she was dating one of the girl s ex boyfriends. It was not her fault that the
boy had no more interest in them and wanted to try something new. For the careless actions upon the
situation caused one girl to die and 3 charged with attempted murder in the second degree. School
violence is just a cry for help in need of attention because of the home training they are lacking at
home. I am arguing today we look past our differences and actually communicate and come to some
sort of agreement. Let your understanding speak louder than your misconceptions. We as people have
to own up to our mistakes and not make every little thing an issue that causes another s life at
jeopardy. In the article school violence by Jaana Juvonen she states that Bullying and more serious
violent behavior are not separate problems. Childhood bullying predicts person oriented crime in
young adulthood. How do you feel when you lose another loved one due to violence? What if you try
to make a change, but it has gotten so worse

Annotated Bibliography On Polycystic Kidney Disease
Assessment details: An Inherited Genetic Disease
Title: Polycystic Kidney Disease
Introduction
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a fairly common genetic disorder of the kidneys. It affects
approximately 1in 750 people. There are 2 types, the autosomal dominant (ADPKD) and the
autosomal recessive (ARPKD). Autosomal dominant (ADPKD) is far more common of the two. The
disease presents with lots of cysts on the kidneys and can not be cured. Medication can manage the
symptoms. The symptoms include urinary tract infections, high blood pressure and even renal failure
as it progresses. Serial ultrasound scans are usually performed to monitor the cysts and to screen
family members.
How is the disease inherited?
Most cases of this disease have an autosomal dominant pattern (ADPKD).
These people with are born with a mutated copy of the PKD1 (85% of cases) or PKD2 (15% of cases)
gene in each cell and this mutated gene is inherited from one of their affected parents in about 90% of
the time. The other 10 percent of cases result from new mutations in people with no history of the
disorder in their family. This is known as acquired polycystic kidney disease. The PKD1 gene is
located on chromosome 16 and PKD2 gene is located on chromosome 4. Not only are there mutations
in the DNA of these genes but there may also be large deletions that remove sometimes up to 10
genes.
These mutations are also called germline mutations because they are present in the parent s egg or
sperm

Malcolm X s Use Of Rhetorical Patterns In My First Conk
Rhetorical Patterns in My First Conk In the excerpt from, The Autobiography of Malcolm X (1994) ,
titled, My First Conk , Malcolm X used the rhetorical pattern of description to paint a picture of the
scene in the reader s mind, he used process to thoughtfully describe each step and build suspense, and
finally, he used narration to connect with the readers. Malcolm X used the device of description in his
autobiography in order to paint a picture in the reader s mind so that one can better understand the
context, the overall situation, and in this case, the result of his project. An example of his use of
description is in paragraph 17, where Malcolm wrote, And on top of my head was this thick, smooth
sheen of shining red hair real red as straight as any white man s . This is an example of description
because it uses expressive word choice which helps one to have a thorough understanding of how the
author wants to portray the scene. Using description helped Malcolm X to enhance his message
because it shows to the readers all of the details that he wants us to know about what he was aiming

potatoes and thin sliced them into a quart sized Mason fruit jar . This example demonstrates the
rhetorical pattern process in that it explains in each of the steps that it took Malcolm in order to
complete the task that he had planned, as well as the fact that it built up suspense to the final results. In
using the pattern of process, Malcolm X enhanced his message by organizing his story, and by giving

Why The Evm Is Not Used For A Important Concept On...
I agree with to begin to collect reasons why EVM it is not used accordingly and based on that to build
up the examples. My first opinion is that EV is an important concept on measuring the progress of the
project, but not well explored as a significant tool and in such context, I think that by knowing why
the EVM is not used properly can lead toward how to use it. There are cases that PMs know the
concept but it is unusable for different reasons as well as there are many cases in which the concept is
not known. So leaving apart the second case, in which the concept is not known because for my
opinion this is the simple case, in my mere opinion, the reasons why the EVM is not used correctly or
it can not be used can be grouped by:
The project does not have requirements at all.
The requirements change frequently which make absolutely difficult to define correctly the budget and
the schedule.
There are wrong estimations of working packages.
The process of change management doesn t work or is ineffective.
The process of calculation Actual Cost is insufficient (reminding here cost collection).
The incorrect progress of the project.
I am pretty sure that the reasons I mention above can be enriched to a macro level with many
arguments why the phenomena happen. Here below is a couple of examples of my of my reflections
why EVM wasn t used properly:
The scope of Ice on Ice project was the upgrade of the infrastructure of the Call Centre. Lack of

Murder in All Its Forms
Murder: And all its forms Throughout the criminal justice system, news, and in many other situations
the term murder is used quite frequently however usually incorrectly. Some people say animals or
even trees get murdered, but under the law it is not murder unless a human takes the life of another
human. Homicide is a lawful term for any killing of a human being by another human being.
Homicide itself is not automatically a crime, some homicides are legal, such as the justifiable killing
of a suspect by the police or a killing in self defense. Unlawful homicides are classified as crimes like
murder and manslaughter. This paper will explain the important but often overlooked distinctions
between murder and manslaughter, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The defendant could be convicted of 2nd degree murder. Depraved heart murders are unintentional but
extremely reckless murders. For example, playing with a loaded gun and pointing the gun at another
for fun is extremely reckless behavior. If the gun went off and killed another the defendant was
pointing at it could constitute as a 2nd degree murder charge under the depraved heart murder
standard. Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of another human by a human that does not involve
malice aforethought. The absence of malice aforethought means that manslaughter involves less moral
blame than either first or second degree murder. While manslaughter is a serious crime, the
punishment for it is generally less than that for murder. There are two main classes or degrees that
manslaughter falls under. Those are voluntary and involuntary manslaughter. Voluntary manslaughter
is often what is referred to as a heat of passion crime. Voluntary manslaughter occurs when a person is
strongly provoked under circumstances that could provoke a reasonable and rationale person, and kills
in the heat of passion aroused by that baiting. An example of this would be where a husband comes
home to find his wife committing adultery. The act provokes the husband to enter such a heat of rage

Summary Of Graduation Day By Maya Angelou
The Value of Education
Americans in the 1940 s valued education in a different way than they do today. Americans of that era
considered graduating from the eighth grade the completion of public schooling for many. In her
memoir Graduation Day, Maya Angelou describes the events and excitement leading up to and
including her eighth grade graduation ceremony. The events that take place at her graduation
transform Angelou s views of her education in a profound manner. The value Angelou places on her
education increases throughout the events of her graduation.
Angelou s value of education strengthens when her community celebrates and encourages her
scholastic accomplishments and her continuing education. Angelou s value of education progresses
from an already elevated level. The patrons of the family store display support for Angelou s
educational ventures by gifting money to her ... with the instruction keep on moving to higher ground
(Angelou, 2014, p. 183). The people of the store see the value in continuing Angelou s education. The
people want Angelo to achieve a better means of living than they themselves could afford; they know
that her education would play a key role. This encouragement strengthens the value she places on
education when she realizes the overwhelming support her community provides. Similarly, Angelou s
family bolsters the value she places on education. The growth comes when she receives ... a soft

Spanish American Colonization
British American and Spanish America were born as a result of European exploration. Starting with
Spain in the 15th and 16th century, European superpowers began sending people to America to claim
lands and grow their mother country s wealth and power. Spanish people came over for wealth and
economic gain, while the British came for wealth, and to escape from persecution. When settled,
Spanish America functioned as a decentralized monarchy, with representatives of the Spanish King in
each colony. In British America, each group of colonies was governed by one of three systems: Royal,
Charter, and Proprietary. Both colonies engaged in slavery and the exploitation of natives and Africans
to work on plantations and mines to produce goods to send back to the mother country. England did
include their colonies in the Transatlantic trade system, however, Spain restricted trade from their
colonies to minimize the power the colonies had. Both of these strategies helped maintain power in the
mother countries because England was gaining wealth from its colonies resources, and Spain kept a
strong hold on its colonies by keeping them economically weak. The original cause of English
immigration to the New World the search for profit from from the lands of America. However, people
later left to escape persecution as they headed to the new land of opportunity. English immigration to
America in the 1600s started with the arrival of the colonists at Jamestown. The immigrants were

and low in value it is arduous to find congenial content. Television shows are filled with violence, sex,
or drugs, making it arduous to find a clean show that families can enjoy. A television show that has
commendable moral values and overall positive content value is Boy Meets World . Corey Matthews
(the main character) from Boy meets World serves as a positive role model for Millennials due to the
fact that the show tackles real day to day issues such as drugs, that teenagers face and he is always

show Boy meets World tackles an amassment of controversial topics such as using drugs and the peer
pressure that kids succumb to on a day to day basis. Corey Matthews feels the pressure but, he
manages to remain ethical episode after episode. In the episode where he s offered drugs for the first
time it was well portrayed how a teen would act if such a moment would happen to them. He was able
to say NO. Not simply by saying no and that s it, but by having to ponder on the question and actually
letting the audience contemplate his adjudication (Boy meets world 1993). That s the reason why a

1.What roles do plate tectonics play in the geomorphology of Pacific Islands?
The earth s crust is made out of plate tectonics. Each plate has a defined boundary and direction it
moves. The plates in Earth s crust perform two actions; they submerge under each other or they spread
out. The Pacific Plate is the largest plate and it borders around many plates. The Pacific Plate moves
northwest. New crust is formed from magma outpours, which are a result of the zones spreading. The
tectonic plates created the islands. When the tectonic plates move, it creates the change in geography.

The Tax Should Be Replaced With A Lifetime Accessions Tax...
The estate tax is a tax upon your right to transfer property at the time of your death. It is often called
the death tax and it has been a partisan point of disagreement for quite some time. As the tax only
applies to estates of $5.45 million and over, this tax only applies to the wealthy. Enacted in 1916 to
help finance World War I, the estate tax has come under more scrutiny lately because of our
government s financial situation and the one hundredth anniversary (Caron 825). The intellectual
world is divided on whether to repeal, reform, or keep unchanged the estate tax. Some even argue that
transfers of wealth should not be taxed at all. This essay will contend that the current estate tax should
be replaced with a lifetime accessions tax to encourage donors, reduce concentrations of wealth, and
safeguard equality of opportunity. Additionally, this paper will compare the lifetime accessions tax to
other proposed alternatives. In place for over one hundred years now, the estate tax was put into place
to do more than just finance World War I. In 1916, there were extremely wealthy families, such as the
Vanderbilt s and the Carnegie s, that dominated industries and held a large portion of the nation s
wealth. Part of the purpose of the estate tax was to curb massive amounts of inter generational wealth
that was common amongst these families. The government saw the money being passed down from
generation to generation as an opportunity for more revenue and a burden upon an

Finishing Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floor can be finished using high power sanding machines, although some handwork may be
necessary in places that on which a sanding machine will not fit, or near corners. Before starting the
finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be carefully driven so
they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the hardwood flooring surface,
sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever, if the floor is uneven, then
three sanding cuts will be needed.
Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines
There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper
mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the
direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the sandpaper
rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate sanding
hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard.
Choosing the right sandpaper is a very important thing to do, because coarse grits will scratch the
hardwood leaving some marks that will be noticeable. Fine grits are better when you want to have the
best finishing on a hardwood flooring, although it will require additional work. For better results, start
by using the coarse sandpaper, to level the floor and continue to polish the surface using finer
sandpaper.

Liberalism and Its Key Values
In the study of Liberalism and its key values, those of Democracy and Social Justice have often been
posited as providing the world with an ideology and political philosophy which can guarantee peace
between its adherents. The Democratic Peace has been formulated in order to illustrate a world in
which democratic states do not engage in war between each oth er as fellow democrats live with a
stable and historically unique form of government. This essay shall explore whether it is acceptable
that one can portray liberal democracy in par ticular as universally applicable in a standard form. This
is a central tenet of the democratic peace theory and as such requires questioning to determine whether
or not liberalism is indeed a force peace in world politics. Furthermore, it shall look at many pieces of
postcolonial International Relations (IR) theory, engage with democratic peace theory directly, as well
as some contemporary examples of liberal actions in order to assess the peaceful state, thus far, of
liberalism. It is my argument that although the democratic peace theory does portray the best
intentions of those Liberal States who actively engage in world politics, it is not, howev er, accurate in
portraying liberalism as a whole as peaceful. Instead by accepting and discuss ing the peace between
liberal nations, it fails to highlight and in fact sometimes seeks to hide the more aggressive and
warring actions of liberals against those from outside of the para digm.

The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place
INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place
Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the Global
Market Place
The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world that are
not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods
and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic
business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in
order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in
particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international
marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Web and its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the
globe (O Reilly, 2009).
In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main
factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and
technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling
barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in
easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). This can be achieved through different
methods such as the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Under these agreements,

Black Lung
The black lung movement was a movement formed in the late 1960 s in which the miners fought for
the health benefits to cover black lung disease. Black lung is directly caused by mining and working
with coal. Mildred Mullins wrote this poem and hung it on the coffin of her dead husband in the

When life is o er and hymns are sung, Then they ll know we have black lung.( Charleston Gazette 15)

was inhaled even though they were away from the mine. So no matter what technique used the coal
dust still made it in the air and into the miners lungs. There were no safety regulations in place about
how long to wait after blowing up coal, no regulations about how many particulates in the air were

Compare And Contrast A Noiseless Patient Spider
A Noiseless Patient Spider , by Walt Whitman, and The Snow Man , by Wallace Stevens are two
poems that contrast well with each other, while still sharing some similarities. The two poems take
place in nature, and are about the observations of the surrounding area, with Whitman s poem being
more focused on a creature, a spider to be specific. Steven s poem focused more on the area itself.
They are both rather philosophical in nature, with Whitman s talking about soul and Steven s seems to
be about a lack of soul. The two poems contrast in the tone with Whitman s being more optimistic and
lighter, and Steven s being darker in contrast. The comparison will be of the two poem s tone, and
motivation.
The tone of the two poems are rather stark in their differences. Whitman s poem, is more optimistic,
and this can be seen here, Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect
them (8 9). This excerpt is about the spider and the soul; it is describing the nature of both. The words
themselves have lighter, happier connotations to them, as musing is used to describe the act of
thinking, and that is a positive thing. The excerpt goes on to describe the soul and spider (which are
one in the same in the poem) as something seeking adventure, or at least willing to go searching for
something, another attribute that is positive. In general, the poem is observing the spider and what it is
doing, with some commentary on the nature of the soul. This is somewhat

Evaluation Of A New Hybrid Strategy
Abstract
Testing is an important process in software development and widely used by developers to reveal
bugs. Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and
lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The
highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code (LOCs)
there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct GNA_SA and the
existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment, we apply four
(tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction strategies for six
different situation. After that, we then measure the effectiveness of the diversified solutions of four
test suite reduction strategies. Our experiment shows that a new hybrid strategy tReduct GNA_SA
offers more effectiveness to reduce redundancy compared to existing work.

apply to many other professions or sub cultures. Though, it seems that within various groups, there is
always something that carries a value within that group that makes members of that group feel
honored because of an inflated value from other members in that group. That thing, that title or badge,

Examples Of Voyeurism In The Truman Show
In the film The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir, the theme of voyeurism is portrayed by a variety
of film techniques. This is particularly prominent in the closing scene, the opening scene and when
Truman is reunited with his Father. In these scenes Peter Weir, the director, uses the visual techniques
of varying camera angles and zoom, the editing techniques of masking and cross cutting and the aural
techniques of diegetic and non diegetic sound to illustrate the theme of voyeurism.
The theme of voyeurism is particularly prominent in the final scene of The Truman Show, where
Truman finally escapes the fictional world he is trapped in. Weir uses the editing effect of cross cutting
and the visual technique of a deep focus to help show the theme. Right before Truman leaves The
Truman Show Weir cuts between Christof, Truman and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The aural techniques of diegetic and non diegetic sound and the visual technique of zoom are used by
Weir in this scene. When Truman is walking towards his Father, Weir cuts to Christof and his
production team. In this cut, a pianist can be scene playing the piano, who is providing background
music for the scene. This is important as this shows the audience that all the background music that
appeared non diegetic is actually diegetic. Christof controls the music being played in The Truman
Show to provide a more pleasurable experience for the viewers of the show. When Truman goes to
embrace his Father in the scene, the camera slowly zooms in to Truman s face to show his expression.
This zoom on Truman s face is done to enhance the viewers experience while watching The Truman
Show. In the scene Weir shows that sound that appeared non diegetic was actually diegetic and zooms
in on Truman s face when he his embracing his Father. The shows the theme of voyeurism as these are
done to enhance the viewers experience is secretly watching

Representative Democracy Values
I want a country which has equal rights for everyone. I want a country where everyone has the
opportunity to have a say in government. I want a country that where everyone s voice will be heard,
no matter who they are. I want a country that doesn t create conflict unnecessarily. I want a country
where everyone can live a comfortable life, no matter where they came from.
In the country I want, everyone will have the opportunity to influence the government. I would like
the country to remain a representative democracy, but also get rid of the Electoral College. A true
representative democracy values everyone s vote equally, not based on the population of the state the
person lives in. There is no way that someone from Wyoming should be equal ... Show more content

I believe this will help reduce some conflict and possible even wars. Our country s goal will be to
remain peaceful until a danger arises. I don t mean the very slight possibility of danger, I mean solid
proof. If a country or group of people shows evidence of disrupting peace and safety, we will
eliminate the threat. I would prefer that our country uses economic sanctions whenever possible to be
diplomatic. This might not always be possible if the enemy does not comply, so military intervention
might be necessary in some cases. It is essential that our country stays out of unnecessary wars. This
will help us keep peaceful and beneficial relationships with most countries. Using these methods we
will have many strong allies. All of these components make up the system of Internationalism, which I
believe is the best system for our

Wealthy Corinth Analysis
The city is called Wealthy Corinth on account of its trade. Situated on an isthmus it is master of two
harbors, one leading to Asia and the other to Italy. In earlier times, the Temple of Aphrodite acquired
such wealth that it owned over one thousand slaves, women dedicated to the goddess for sex and
entertainment. And so the city was crowded and enriched because of these women, as ship masters
easily spent everything they had (Strabo 8.6.20 23). This quote is from a man named Strabo that was
alive from 64 B.C. to 23 A.D (Dueck, pg 2). Paul s journey to Corinth was around 50 55A.D
(Goodwin, pg 7). which was not long after Strabo had died. This was the Corinth that Paul was
witnessing to. It was a city filled with wealth, corruption, and

  • 2. Essay about Kodak Fujifilm Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm Sandra Greene BUS 302 Professor Cheryl J. Johnson 2 Feb, 2013 Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm 1. Describe the history and core business of each company. Kodak was considered the Google of its day. It was founded in 1880 and known for its pioneering technology and innovative marketing. You press the button, we do the rest, was its slogan in 1888. By 1976 Kodak accounted for 90% of film and 85% of camera sales in America. Until the 1990s it was regularly rated one of the world s five most valuable brands (The Last Kodak Moment, 2012). Racism is defined as someone who believes their race is the superior race. The current events with the confederate flags has brought about conversation that these people are racist. • 6. Happiness Is The Best Thing Essay For Aristotle, happiness is the best thing, for it is a thing for and in itself. Happiness is derived from ethics, and ethics is answer to how you achieve happiness. Virtue is a means in which ethics are preformed and are derived from passions and actions. That is, passions and actions are means in which ethical virtue is performed in order to gain happiness. Aristotle believes that for anything to be known it must derive from four causes. From these causes we understand what ethics is and its relation to the soul, virtue and how these are used to obtain happiness. Though happiness is the final goal it still must be journeyed through introspective and active movements by the self. The four causes are a means to argue a philosophical question. They include efficient causes; the source of movement that will be understood as the why or by which. Material cause is concerned with the out of which and formal cause deals with form or shape and is understood as the into which or what was being. The purpose of these causes is to come to a conclusion, the final cause, or rather an end or goal; the desire that the original philosophical question is concerned with and it is understood as for the sake of which. It is by these four causes we can understand what ethics deals with and how we understand it s purpose. Ethics is concerned with what is the good life for me, and the final cause will be happiness. • 7. Baroque Art Depicted the Religious Tensions During that... Art in the Baroque period was used to depict the religious tensions present at the time. Coincidentally, the philosophy of the time also played a key role in addressing the tensions that existed during the period. As a result of the focus on similar aspects of the society, there emerged numerous similarities between the artwork of the time and the ideas expressed by philosophers such as Descartes and Leibniz. It is critical to assess the views of the different philosophers in order to determine how the artwork was similar to their perceptions of the world. This essay addresses the views of Descartes in relation to the principles of Baroque art. In particular, the essay focuses on the works of Vermeer and Rembrandt, seeking to determine how their art relates to the philosophical views of Descartes. Rembrandt Rembrandt was one of the most influential Baroque artists of the 17th century, with popular works such as the Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp, the Night Watch, and Angel Leaving Tobit and Tobias (Open University of Kaohsiung). His success was based on the fact that his work did not go out of fashion. The spiritual life of Holland during the Baroque period required him because he was relevant in presenting ideas about the period in his work. Genetic engineering involves the process of taking samples of one species genes/DNA and transferring it into a new host cell, this cell containing the DNA will then grow into the new cell creating a transgenic species. DNA samples can also be inserted into the new species by acting as a virus or by using a micro pipette injection. Transgenic species are mainly used in fruit and vegetables to prevent pests eating the food supply. Genetic engineering is also used for commercial purposes. One example of successful transgenic species is a strawberry plant with a salmon gene inserted into it, the salmon gene helps the strawberries grow in a colder environment. These crops are also known as GMO s (genetically modified organisms). • 12. Characteristics Of Good People The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people either. If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives; nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed. Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so, he/she can make an effort to remedy them. With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Battle Of San Juan Hill Essay The Battle of San Juan Hill July 1, 1898 was one of the bloodiest battles of The Spanish American War. The battle of San Juan Hill also known as San Juan Heights was of strategic importance because it permitted the Americans to place guns above the harbor at Santiago. The gun positions overlooking the harbor prevented the Spanish Navy from escaping which ultimately led to their land forces surrendering shortly after the loss of San Juan Hill. (United States History) U.S. General William Shafter ordered the attack on El Caney and San Juan Hill. General Shafter had hoped to take El Caney prior to beginning the push for San Juan Hill but the Spanish defenders proved themselves to be tenacious and managed to hold off a great number of American attackers. The steadfast defense of the Spanish prevented the Americans from securing El Caney until late in the afternoon. Spanish gunfire managed to take out hundreds of Americans but failed stop an estimated 8,000 troops from continuing on towards San Juan Hill. Troops were then split into two flanks at the base of the heights in order to take San Juan Hill and Kettle Hill with the order from Lieutenant John Miley that the heights must be taken at all hazards . Speech 131 T/TH 7:30 am Section 33282 Courtney Mathis ID # 2899247 Why does school violence have such of an effect on our society today? School violence is the intentional use of physical force or power, group or community, with the behavior likely to cause physical or psychological harm. Most school violence start from differences between teenagers. Like for instance about some weeks ago this girl named Amy Joyner died over this boy. The girls that jumped her was mad that she was dating one of the girl s ex boyfriends. It was not her fault that the boy had no more interest in them and wanted to try something new. For the careless actions upon the situation caused one girl to die and 3 charged with attempted murder in the second degree. School violence is just a cry for help in need of attention because of the home training they are lacking at home. I am arguing today we look past our differences and actually communicate and come to some sort of agreement. Let your understanding speak louder than your misconceptions. We as people have to own up to our mistakes and not make every little thing an issue that causes another s life at jeopardy. In the article school violence by Jaana Juvonen she states that Bullying and more serious violent behavior are not separate problems. Annotated Bibliography On Polycystic Kidney Disease Assessment details: An Inherited Genetic Disease Title: Polycystic Kidney Disease Introduction Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a fairly common genetic disorder of the kidneys. It affects approximately 1in 750 people. There are 2 types, the autosomal dominant (ADPKD) and the autosomal recessive (ARPKD). Autosomal dominant (ADPKD) is far more common of the two. The disease presents with lots of cysts on the kidneys and can not be cured. Medication can manage the symptoms. The symptoms include urinary tract infections, high blood pressure and even renal failure as it progresses. Serial ultrasound scans are usually performed to monitor the cysts and to screen family members. How is the disease inherited? Most cases of this disease have an autosomal dominant pattern (ADPKD). These people with are born with a mutated copy of the PKD1 (85% of cases) or PKD2 (15% of cases) gene in each cell and this mutated gene is inherited from one of their affected parents in about 90% of the time. The other 10 percent of cases result from new mutations in people with no history of the disorder in their family. This is known as acquired polycystic kidney disease. The PKD1 gene is located on chromosome 16 and PKD2 gene is located on chromosome 4. My first opinion is that EV is an important concept on measuring the progress of the project, but not well explored as a significant tool and in such context, I think that by knowing why the EVM is not used properly can lead toward how to use it. There are cases that PMs know the concept but it is unusable for different reasons as well as there are many cases in which the concept is not known. So leaving apart the second case, in which the concept is not known because for my opinion this is the simple case, in my mere opinion, the reasons why the EVM is not used correctly or it can not be used can be grouped by: The project does not have requirements at all. The requirements change frequently which make absolutely difficult to define correctly the budget and the schedule. There are wrong estimations of working packages. The process of change management doesn t work or is ineffective. The process of calculation Actual Cost is insufficient (reminding here cost collection). The incorrect progress of the project. • 25. Spanish American Colonization British American and Spanish America were born as a result of European exploration. Starting with Spain in the 15th and 16th century, European superpowers began sending people to America to claim lands and grow their mother country s wealth and power. Spanish people came over for wealth and economic gain, while the British came for wealth, and to escape from persecution. When settled, Spanish America functioned as a decentralized monarchy, with representatives of the Spanish King in each colony. In British America, each group of colonies was governed by one of three systems: Royal, Charter, and Proprietary. Both colonies engaged in slavery and the exploitation of natives and Africans to work on plantations and mines to produce goods to send back to the mother country. England did include their colonies in the Transatlantic trade system, however, Spain restricted trade from their colonies to minimize the power the colonies had. Both of these strategies helped maintain power in the mother countries because England was gaining wealth from its colonies resources, and Spain kept a strong hold on its colonies by keeping them economically weak. The original cause of English immigration to the New World the search for profit from from the lands of America. • 28. The Tax Should Be Replaced With A Lifetime Accessions Tax... The estate tax is a tax upon your right to transfer property at the time of your death. It is often called the death tax and it has been a partisan point of disagreement for quite some time. As the tax only applies to estates of $5.45 million and over, this tax only applies to the wealthy. Enacted in 1916 to help finance World War I, the estate tax has come under more scrutiny lately because of our government s financial situation and the one hundredth anniversary (Caron 825). The intellectual world is divided on whether to repeal, reform, or keep unchanged the estate tax. Some even argue that transfers of wealth should not be taxed at all. This essay will contend that the current estate tax should be replaced with a lifetime accessions tax to encourage donors, reduce concentrations of wealth, and safeguard equality of opportunity. Additionally, this paper will compare the lifetime accessions tax to other proposed alternatives. In place for over one hundred years now, the estate tax was put into place to do more than just finance World War I. In 1916, there were extremely wealthy families, such as the Vanderbilt s and the Carnegie s, that dominated industries and held a large portion of the nation s wealth. Part of the purpose of the estate tax was to curb massive amounts of inter generational wealth that was common amongst these families. Finishing Hardwood Floors Hardwood floor can be finished using high power sanding machines, although some handwork may be necessary in places that on which a sanding machine will not fit, or near corners. Before starting the finishing process, the hardwood surface should be free of dirt and all nails must be carefully driven so they are not protruding in the floor or the baseboard. Depending on the hardwood flooring surface, sometimes with two sanding cuts, you will get a nice finish whatsoever, if the floor is uneven, then three sanding cuts will be needed. Hardwood Flooring Sanding Machines There are two main types of sanding machines: drum or disk type. Drum sanders have the sandpaper mounted on a drum that rotates parallel to the plane of the floor, scratching in straight lines in the direction of the sanding machine. On the other hand, disk sanders are the ones in which the sandpaper rotates in a circle in the plane of the floor. There are different tools that will facilitate sanding hardwood floor near the edges of the floor and next to the baseboard. Choosing the right sandpaper is a very important thing to do, because coarse grits will scratch the hardwood leaving some marks that will be noticeable. Fine grits are better when you want to have the best finishing on a hardwood flooring, although it will require additional work. The Democratic Peace has been formulated in order to illustrate a world in which democratic states do not engage in war between each oth er as fellow democrats live with a stable and historically unique form of government. This essay shall explore whether it is acceptable that one can portray liberal democracy in par ticular as universally applicable in a standard form. Furthermore, it shall look at many pieces of postcolonial International Relations (IR) theory, engage with democratic peace theory directly, as well as some contemporary examples of liberal actions in order to assess the peaceful state, thus far, of liberalism. It is my argument that although the democratic peace theory does portray the best intentions of those Liberal States who actively engage in world politics, it is not, howev er, accurate in portraying liberalism as a whole as peaceful. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Web and its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009). In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). Valerie Lake, an eighth grade English teacher, believes that the CC intensifies the complexity of what the teachers have to teach, but realizes that her students can actually learn/understand more than what we (teachers) think. On the other hand, this makes the students think more which in turn helps them learn and apply their skills to the test. The two poems take place in nature, and are about the observations of the surrounding area, with Whitman s poem being more focused on a creature, a spider to be specific. Steven s poem focused more on the area itself. They are both rather philosophical in nature, with Whitman s talking about soul and Steven s seems to be about a lack of soul. The two poems contrast in the tone with Whitman s being more optimistic and lighter, and Steven s being darker in contrast. The comparison will be of the two poem s tone, and motivation. The tone of the two poems are rather stark in their differences. Whitman s poem, is more optimistic, and this can be seen here, Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them (8 9). This excerpt is about the spider and the soul; it is describing the nature of both. The words themselves have lighter, happier connotations to them, as musing is used to describe the act of thinking, and that is a positive thing. The excerpt goes on to describe the soul and spider (which are one in the same in the poem) as something seeking adventure, or at least willing to go searching for something, another attribute that is positive.
