Anne Bradstreet Influences
For this essay, I will discuss the historical and cultural context of Anne Bradstreet s writings and how
that influenced her. An authors writing is always influenced by their surroundings and the history of
which they have lived in. Anne Bradstreet was no different, and her Puritan surroundings and the
happening history of the time, as well as her family occupied her poems. Anne Bradstreet s writings
were usually personal accounts, but her Puritan living was very apparent and that is what I will focus
on. To start lets go over a little history about Anne Bradstreet. She was born in 1612 with the maiden
name Dudley and died in 1672. She was the first woman to be recognized as an accomplished New
World Poet. Bradstreet did not attend school, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poem states her thoughts on much of nature, as well as opinions on how to live life and honor
God. She contemplates verses of the bible containing the story of Cain and Abel and ponders the
nature of humans. The puritan viewpoint that man is weak and vain and full of sin is apparent in this
poem. Especially in the 29th stanza, Man at the best a creature frail and vain, / In knowledge ignorant,
in strength but weak, / Subject to sorrows, losses, sickness, pain, / Each storm his state, his mind, his
body break, /From some of these he never finds cessation, /But day or night, within, without, vexation,
/ Troubles from foes, from friends, from dearest, near st Relation. She demonstrated how although
man is weak and sinful he still hopes for divine translation. Nor all his losses, crosses and vexation, /In
weight, in frequency and long duration / Can make him deeply groan for that divine Translation. Anne
Bradstreet was very strong in her Puritan values and it showed through in her poetry, especially this
one. The historical values of her time were based highly on the societies religious values. The poem
encompasses the societies view on nature and God, and man s place in the world. Bradstreet s form of
poetry was unusual and she contrasts typically Puritan views by feeling closer to God by connecting

Speech On The Oppressed By Paulo Freire
Mohamad Afiq Md Daud
WR115
Conversation Plan
In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire describes about what the education system supposedly
need to be. He critiques that the education during his era is almost as similar as dictatorship. In this
style of education, teacher has the superiority over their students. The teacher is the one who know
everything, while the students are considered to know nothing, and that is absolutely unfair towards
the students because they do not have the chance to learning . Furthermore, based on Kirp s excerpt
entitled Make School a Democracy , he reveals the solution towards the education system problem
during Freire s era. The solution is also known as Escuela Nueva (New School) model. Hence, what
do I realize is the education is a process of teaching and learning between the teacher and the students.
An effective education system leads the students in becoming a person with a good thinking skills
who able to understand the facts rather than memorizing it. Based on what I have read, I recognized
that both Freire and Kirp have a similar main idea in fighting for the education rights. They suggest
that education needs to be an interactive learning. Both teacher and students need to communicate by
making discussion or sharing opinions; this theory is also called as problem posing education. For
example, a teacher is posing a question for the students, and he or she has already prepared the
answer; however, the students independently

The Lincoln Electric Culture Analysis
Lincoln Electric Culture Analysis
Lincoln Electric is a world renowned manufacturer of welding equipment. The company has
experienced success year over year since the early 1900s. Their success can be attributed to the
unorthodox way in which the company is led and managed.
Early in the company s life an advisory board was created which gave employees a voice that could be
heard by upper management. Soon after the creation of the advisory board, working hours were
reduced and additional benefits were given to employees that included life insurance policies and
continued educational opportunities.
In 1934 the famous Lincoln bonus plan was initiated which would give employees of the company a
yearly bonus as a percentage of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That both employees and management want to be a part of something great, a part of a team that is
working for the same goal of making their company successful. Lincoln believed that a worker is
worthy of what they earn. If they work hard, they should be paid commensurate with that effort.
When looking at the way in which the Lincoln Company is organized and managed, the first thing you
might notice is that their culture is very people oriented. Fairness is very important as well as respect
for employees and who they are as human beings. People oriented companies tend to have employees
that stay with their companies longer than companies with differing cultures. I believe that due to this
culture of valuing employees worker turnover at Lincoln is not an issue.
The organizational structure of Lincoln is informal and there is no organizational chart. Because
employees are treated with such value they have an intrinsic drive to work hard and make their
company successful. This also allows there to be very need for supervision. When employees are
treated with respect and are compensated for their work, the response is to self supervise.
This culture is very different from what you will find in companies today. Today, many leaders and
managers truly believe that employees must be controlled and managed harshly in order to get results.
There is a carrot and stick mentality that is used today to motivate employees. It s either threaten the

Cognitive Development Theory Of Moral Judgment
Introduction Jean Piaget is a famous psychologist who is professionally known for his pioneering
work that he did in children s development. His cognitive development theory has three key
components, the first one is scheme, the second one is adaption which is an important process that
helps a child to go from one stage another such equilibrium, accommodation and accommodation. The
third one is cognitive development with four different sub theory such as, sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (McLeod, 2015). The focus of this
assignment will be on sensorium stage and theory of moral judgment. Sensorimotor stage from birth

A child might know the world apple , but haven t seen a real apple yet. (Etc.edu.cn, Massey.ac.nz,
2017). But, the child at the preoperational stage still learns from concrete evidence while adults learn
in abstract way. Meanwhile, here are a few limitations to the preoperational stage. To start with, child
in preoperational stage may lack the concept of conversation. For instance, a child is given two rows
of apples that have the same number of apple. But, one of the rows is longer than the other one
without changing the number of apple. Child at the preoperational stage states that rows lengths are
not same. Because, the look of the objects gave the wrong impression about them to the child. Mostly,
children s decision making depends on their perception (Etc.edu.cn,2017). Saul Mcleod , (2014),
Limitations in the Child s Thinking [ONLINE]. Available at:
https://www.simplypsychology.org/preoperational.html Additionally, conservation does not occur
simultaneously in all subject areas. Children do understand the conservation of numbers often at age
of 5 6 and do understand conservation of substance. Conservation is something that stays the in terms
of quantity even when the appearance changes. In technical words, conservation helps to understand
redistributing materials that doesn t have impact on its mass, volume or number (Saul Mcleod , 2014).

The Mpaa Rating System Of America
The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of
America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies
(MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate
for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of
appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the
original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code
Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and
eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13
movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed
the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that
everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different
parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently
depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a
little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow
their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child
from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels
about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The
different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of
kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different
ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real
while older children are more mature and

Reasons For The Shark Attack
During these years, the shark attack issue has been a controversial topic around Australia, where it has
the most attack than the other parts of the world. In this paper, I present my arguments on why sharks
should not be killed nor responsible for the attacks. First and foremost, some may say that human life
is more important. However, sharks place an important role in the ecosystem since it is one of the top
predators in the world. There is some evidence to suggest that the number of sharks declines rapidly
every year. According to the research paper Collapse and Conservation of Shark Populations in the
Northwest Atlantic , the data suggested that a population decline of 89% in hammerhead sharks, 79%

Aristotle s Ethos Pathos Logos
Something that every good salesperson, copywriter, publicist, anyone whose livelihood rests on their
ability to sell, should know. And no, nothing sells itself. If you see an ad that claims this, that s a line.
But how do you learn persuasive writing? Why, you start from the beginning of course.
The very beginning. We re talking obscure Mesopotamian Akkadian scriptures. Don t have time to
read article from 23 centuries BC? Yeah maybe that s a little too early. Lets fast forward to Aristotle.
We re starting with Aristotle because he was one of the most influential philosophers on rhetoric. He
wrote a three part series entitled Rhetoric that outlined how people may build a powerful argument
using persuasion.

And it is a part of a widely used persuasive writing structure called the 4 P s.
Creating ethos is what you are doing when you put testimonials on your website or share business
licenses and awards. It s creating an image of yourself as an expertise in your field. Hence, people will
believe you when you tell them your product will do XYZ for them.
Pathos
Pathos means the emotional argument. It s thought that the best copywriting appeals to emotions. The
logic behind emotional selling goes that if you sell by emotion, the thing you are selling is a want. If
you sell based on logic and need people will go for the lowest cost option. People are much more
likely to spend more money on something they want than something they need so selling my emotion
and want allows you to sell your product even if it s not the lowest option by a long shot.
Because pathos is such a critical component of powerful copywriting I will dedicate an entire article to
it and specific techniques used that elicit emotional reactions. For now, just watch this Samsung ad

Research Paper On Bottle Rocket
Creating an optimal design that allowed my bottle rocket to go to the highest possible altitude and
velocity was a long process that included lots of testing, trial, and error. With a rocket, I am attempting

velocity. During this process of trial and error, I have organized my results by marking them down on
multiple data table. I got my information from a bottle rocket simulator programmed by the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration, more commonly known as NASA. The class attempted to run

0.03, and had the cone of the bottle rocket on. I picked the variable of the cone on/off, percentage
filled with water, and size of bottle as my three most critical variables. I picked them because during
the runs where I was testing these variables, the altitude and velocity had significant changes every
time. There were some variables such as ballast weight and temperature at launch that didn t have as
drastic changes with each run so they were not as important. One thing that noticed is that the velocity
was consistently higher than the altitude so when testing it, I was more focused on raising the altitude.
When I was focused on the altitude, I never noticed a significant drop in velocity so I don t think there
were any trade offs with the results from this

Criminal Profiler
1. What is a criminal profiler? A criminal profiler falls under the category of law enforcement. They
are a form of criminal investigator. Profilers may use behavioral analysis to aid them in pinpointing a
suspect. I am interested in pursuing this occupation because what motivates people to act the way they
do is intriguing. A profiler can learn a vast amount about a person by simply observing their actions
and reactions. The profession of a criminal profiler can be grouped into the categories of requirements,
responsibilities, and ramifications. There are strict requirements involved with becoming a criminal
profiler. 2, 5 A profiler must have a bachelor s degree in criminal justice, psychology, social sciences,
or behavioral sciences (Criminal Profiler). 5 Popular schools for this occupation include Kaplan
University, Ashford University, and the University of South Dakota (Study). A benefit of studying this
occupation is how the degree programs overlap and bear resemblance. 4 Also, Durant High School
provides a forensics class that would aid in preparation for this career. 2, 6 Another couple examples
of requirements for becoming an investigator include passing a thorough background investigation

The Battle Of The World War
It is generally considered that the Pacific War began on 7/8 December 1941, when Japan invaded
Thailand and attacked the British Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong as well as America s state of
Hawaii, where they bombed the military bases there. Australia entered World War II shortly after the
invasion of Poland, declaring war on Germany on 3rd September 1939. By the end of the war, almost
a million Australians had served in the armed forces, who fought primarily in the European theatre,
North African campaign, and the South Pacific theatre. The Second World War saw the involvement of
Australian troops more than ever and the closest to home. In addition, for the first time in history,
attacks were aimed at mainland Australia. According to esteemed British author and military historian
Antony Beevor, The Second World War was such a huge combination of different conflicts that it s
almost impossible to point to a single battle as a turning point During the war some turning points for
the Allies were; The Fall of Singapore, The Bombing of Darwin, The Battle of the Coral Sea, The
Battle of Midway and The Kokoda Campaign. The United States Forces also played a big role in the
war in The Pacific Theatre and the turning points for The Australian Forces. The Japanese Bombing of
Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941 was the starting point of the war in The Pacific Theatre and a
significant event for the Allies, Australia in particular. The attack severely damaged the main

Cultural Ethical Relativism
Ethical relativism is a theory based on the belief that there are no general standards that are considered
to be ethically acceptable. Ethical relativists believe that there is no actual standard of what is right or
wrong. The two forms of ethical relativism are personal, or individual ethical relativism and cultural
ethical relativism. Personal relativism, also called individual relativism, is based on the belief that
ethical opinions are manifested by the moral viewpoints of each individual. Personal relativists believe
that because there is no specific right or wrong, no specific opinion is considered reasonable or
unreasonable. Everybody has had their own experiences throughout their lives, which has contributed

Opinions are based on the beliefs of each individual culture. Individuals in each society should focus
on the rules and customs within their society in order to make the right decisions. Cultural ethical

are completely different in opinion. I do not believe that relativism would work as a universal theory.
Everybody has their own morals and beliefs. What one individual believes is right may be completely
different from what another individual might believe. Relativism may work as a universal theory
within certain cultures and societies but not likely among individuals. There are certain cultures that
share the same customs and beliefs but individuals from different cultures may have completely

o The most obvious function, governments rely on bond markets to fund the gap between spending

from equities and real estate, to gold and foreign exchange rates. For instance, most ways of assessing
fair value of the stock market require some long term interest rate, either to discount to the present a

are the basis for the cost of borrowing to both firms and households. It is the price of leverage. They

Essay On Roman Fever
Roman Fever is not only the title of a story by Edith Wharton, it is also a key to the plot in Daisy
Miller: A Study by Henry James. In both stories the prevailing rumors of an illness that could be
obtained by visiting a location after dark is used as a tool. Charles Darwin is world renowned for his
views on evolution that eventually made its way into the thought process of many writers. The goal of
using Roman Fever can be seen as giving the writer a threat to use as punitive measures to weed out

The piece uses the illness as a tale told to young ladies as a retribution attempt for being scorned. In it
we find that Mrs. Slade had a Great Aunt Harriet that used knowledge of the illness to lure her
younger sister to death. In this story the causality of the illness is also related to time of evening and
hints of the cold night air being a factor. We now know that the cold night air would not be a risk
factor in contacting Malaria.
Similarities arise in the way both authors deal with the subject of Malaria. In both the subject is
challenged with the conundrum of being fit enough to survive a bout of illness as intimidating as
Roman Fever. One could extrapolate the illness as an instrument of nature used to weed out the week.
Knowledge of an illness that is well known for its relative ease of contagion and high mortality rate
can be a useful tool to a writer.
We find that Daisy is at the Colosseum with the suitor, she is at odds with the protagonist at this point.
She does not survive her interaction with Roman Fever and succumbs to a high grade fever that is
credited with causing deliria. She is described as a bit of a flirt and unconventional by the standards of
the time. It can be argued that her indiscretion and moral failings is painted as weakness. Her
weakness could then be attributed to her inability to survive the

A Short Note On Chemical Neurolysis With Phenol
Intrathecal chemical neurolysis with Phenol is a neurodestructive technique to provide saddle
anaesthesia for perineal pain, in patients unresponsive to pharmacological therapy or not ameneable to
surgical treatment. Its use has been advocated in patients with terminal illness with a short life
expentancy of less than a year. Phenol s neurodestructive mechanism relies on precipitation of proteins
in the nerves with myelin sheath separation and axonal oedema, resulting in fibrosis. Neurolysis can
be induced with chemicals like phenol or alcohol or by physical methods of radiofrquency or

Aspects Impacts of Porous Pavements Essay
Short Memo: Aspects Impacts of Porous Pavements The purpose of this short memo is to discuss
aspects of use, applicability, and environmental impacts of porous pavements as gleaned from
practical findings and pertinent examples. A porous pavement is one with high enough porosity and
permeability to allow rain and snowmelt to pass through it, thereby reducing the runoff from a site and
surrounding areas. In intensely built up areas, pavements account for more than half of all the land,
and for about two thirds of total built cover (Ferguson, 2005, 2 3). Parking lots, in particular, account
for the majority of paved areas. Pervious paving materials have the capability of providing a dual

1999). This base serves as a reservoir for stormwater runoff where water is allowed to infiltrate to
underlying permeable soils or is redirected through an overflow drain system. Filter fabric is placed
beneath the aggregate subgrade to prevent fine particles from moving into the soil bed. Essentially,
porous pavement infiltrates and treats rainwater where it falls (Ferguson, 2005, 10). The pore space
and aggregate base act as rainwater retention, reducing runoff during storm events. Further, particles
and pollutants are removed from the water flow through the filtration process, with the underlying
soils acting as a second filter treatment area and as a water recharge basin. Use Applicability Porous
pavements are particularly functional as low volume traffic surfaces and parking areas and have been
used for over thirty years. Early installations continue to function as both parking lots and stormwater
management systems. Cahill Associates (CA) designed one of the first large scale porous parking lots
for an office park in a Philadelphia suburb. The design consists of porous asphalt parking bays
terraced down a hillside and connected by conventional traffic lanes. The site is over 20 years old, has
not needed repaving, and has staved off sinkholes in an area prone to them. CA attributes this to even
distribution of stormwater through infiltration and particularly to the aggregate reservoir below the
surface. Through other projects, CA has found that

Deprived on Sleep
It is important for everyone to get enough sleep, but many people often ignore it. If people do not get
enough sleep they may experience sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation can have negative effects.
When people do not get enough sleep or less, they may feel crabby and unable to function as well as
they usually do the next day. Balancing work and parenting as a single parent in today s society is
tough. Juggling children, work, taking care of home, and cart the children to extracurricular activities
are a lot for one s plate. As single parent I had my share of sleepless nights as well, mostly when either
my children fall sick or when I work extra shift at work. The last time I remember when I had a
sleepless night was when both of these factors together came to hunt me. I agreed to work extra hours
at the hospital because the night shift secretary was unable to come into work. Although I had worked
a 12 hour shift, I still had enough energy to work at less five more hours that I had agreed too. At the
end of my shift I was ready for a hot shower and my warm bed to rest. My daughter came down with a
fever that night. She was vomiting, and could not keep any fluids down. My daughter was restless and
was only able to sleep an hour at a time. I wasn t really able to sleep at all because I was constantly
checking her temperature. Each time she vomited or even tossed and fussed in her sleep I was up with
her. Of course when the sun had risen I immediately took my daughter to the

Never assume that if a person belongs to a certain group, they all hold the same preferences and
beliefs, as this is not always the case. It is better to involve the person actively and find out what their
preferences are. If personal preferences are not respected, then this could not only offend the person,
but also they may avoid seeking support when they need it. Sensitivity should be exercised at all
times.
1.5 Describe how to identify suitable opportunities for an individual to learn or practice skills for daily
living?
People can learn practical living skills on a day to day basis. It is important therefore that care workers
recognize opportunities and give the appropriate support. If a person is living in a supported living
environment, the opportunities to learn life skills can be effectively embedded on a regular basis. For
example, while the support workers helping the person to do their shopping use public transport or
access a service such as a cinema, there are opportunities to develop communication, organization and
numeracy skills. When planning activities the support worker, with the person, should recognize and
seize opportunities for that person to develop valuable learning and life skills. Shopping trips can be a
useful learning opportunity for example, when planning what is needed, writing lists, organizing

Mayor in 1933. LaGuardia had been an outspoken critic of the prohibition of alcohol, but he was
passionate about enforcing illegal gambling laws. At that time, New York City s slot machines

NYPD confiscated thousands of slot machines. In fact, he once held a press conference as he threw
several of the mechanical pickpockets in the Atlantic Ocean. LaGuardia took such a strong stance
against gambling that he managed to have pinball machines banned. As a result, New York police

Title IX is part of the United States Education Amendments of 1972. It was meant to address some the

This has led us to believe that men s sports deserve more attention and funds. Title IX fixed the
funding issue but made it almost impossible to comply to. The problem with the law was its
proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on activities for
boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders but are dominated
by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far greater than the cost of
many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn t being spent
on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient because it was
impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to operate. This issue
makes it almost impossible to be proportional so only 20% of all high schools and universities are
technically in compliance with Title IX requirements (New Developments Concerning Title

Factors That Affect The Labour And Delivery Of A Woman
Pregnancy is a subject I have developed interest and curiosity over time. The eagerness to comprehend
all the theories behind this made me subject myself into observing the factors that affects the labour
and delivery of a woman. With the aid of an image, I intend to express my thoughts and reflection
about the influence and overreliance for epidural when preparing for birth. Furthermore, I delve into
the fascinating idea of skin to skin contact of mother or father to child after birth through use of a
haiku as a learning technique to guide me. I aim to clarify and improve my knowledge of the topics
and create a better concept of understanding that will eventually sharpen my skills as an aspiring

Whilst the delighted appearance of the woman to the right after the epidural reveals the immediate
contentment a drug can give. Both depictions served as a motivation for me to consider the
significance of the narcotic drug. Aside from that, it intrigued and urged me to question whether the
use of this drug eliminates the real experience of childbirth, compared to the natural birth with
minimum or no pain medications.
I consider the concept of pain relief used in labour via epidural as a very intriguing topic. It plays the
role as a central nerve blocking analgesia administered through the lower part of the spine near the
nerves that conveys pain (Anim Somuah, Smyth Jones, 2011). Both positive and negative scrutinies
have been long established in the society and thus my desire to figure out why this was so. My
previous perception of this local anaesthesia was partially influenced by the media s idea that it causes
more harm than it can benefit, therefore the lack of a greater evidence based judgement. This led to
quite a biased opinion and perhaps a misconception on my behalf and maybe other people that
epidural, although relieves discomfort, mainly caused adverse effects on the mother and child. Thus
my goal to ultimately understand if epidural should really be used or not and whether a woman s
choice is based on society s dependence on modern medical technology over time.
Further research of the use of epidural has given me insight of

Capital Punishment Is Cruel And Unusual
Although many people believe that capital punishment is cruel and unusual. It is the only punishment
that can truly compensate the loss of a loved one. In recent years, the rate of serious crimes has
increased. The increase of crime is the result of less effective punishment. Dating back to early
civilizations, capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective
punishment. Yet today s society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment
should be executed more often because; the rate of serious crime will decrease, free up prison space,
and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital punishment is the
lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious crime, such as first degree murder.
Some people agree it is the most appropriate punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but
others call it cruel and unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The
method used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain less results.
My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed more often is because it could
possibly help the problem of overcrowding in prisons. States such as Texas and California, mainly
suffer from this problem due to its vast population and crime rate. Instead of keeping inmates for life
in prison, its better to execute the one s with the most serious crimes than to release them or

Diagnosing Car Repair
If you are thinking of car repair, there are certain things you should know. For starters, you must
realize that the exercise can be divided into various categories in order to address different issues. For
instance, there are basic repairs, which can be carried out even by a beginner or anyone who owns a
vehicle. Then there are the advanced repairs, which can only be carried out by people with technical
knowledge. Things like oil change and changing tires can fit in the first category hence you can carry
them out yourself.
Another important thing to note is about checkups. Even though you might not intend to do any repair
work on your own, a huge percentage of checkups are your responsibility. For instance, you have to

Even though there are many providers offering these services, you should note that some might not be
of much help. This could be due to the high price they charge or lack of the required expertise.
When trying to address this, you should visit different providers to find out how they go about the
process. The best providers should diagnose the problem first before stating the cost. Remember, some
of them might charge for the diagnostic process, so this should be stated before they begin. Of course,
it would be nice if you find a provider who does not charge for diagnosing the problem.
Even though you might be interested in low cost providers, you should never compromise on service
quality. Most of the problems might have different fixes, but it is good to go for those that do not
compromise the safety of the vehicle and also offer a long term solution.
In most cases, you will find that the best car repair service will be offered at mid range prices. With
this in mind, you can be sure to get a good provider. Remember, regardless of your knowledge level in
car maintenance issues, your input is very important for satisfactory

In addition to beginning and exacerbating conflicts, labeling can occur informally and formally.
Informal labels are utilized by an individual or group of individuals to establish a means of
identification for another individual or group of individuals. Formal labels are established by
institutions, such as academia and government, as a means to identify an individual or group of
individuals possessing similar characteristics.
A label has the power to define the individual or group of individuals being identified. That power is
equal to control (Koppelman, 2011). Both can have a positive or negative effect. Unfortunately, the
labels used by the majority are meant to have a negative effect. In fact, the labels are meant to demean
and hurt as much as possible. They are so negative that there seems to be the intent to drive the labeled
individual and/or group away, so they are no longer present and able to interact with the majority.
Within the context of the movie, the minority group referred to themselves as Jewish or Jews. When
used to describe one s self, I believe that the intent was to refer to one s ethnicity, nationality, and/or
religion, because they are strongly interrelated. Typically, the majority group labels itself in a way that

revolution known as romanticism. The concept of romanticism (early 19th century) emphasizes on the
inner emotions and imagination of the individual while at the same time expressing deep interest in
nature and the supernatural. During the romantic movement, one major contribution was the birth of
Gothic fiction. One author who strived under this literary genre was Mary Shelley. Ever since she was

The Crusades were a series of wars over the holy lands such as Jerusalem between European
Christians and the Ottoman Empire between the 11th and 15th centuries. They fought for many

According to the Christian Faith Jerusalem holds significant religious importance due to the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ and many other important religious sites. This is detailed in The Capture of
Jerusalem by John France Jerusalem had a special place in the religion and culture of medieval europe
for it was the place Christ had died and his empty tomb in the church of the holy sepulchre was the
very symbol of christian belief . Pope Urban II called for the crusades to secure these sites for

  • 2. Anne Bradstreet Influences For this essay, I will discuss the historical and cultural context of Anne Bradstreet s writings and how that influenced her. An authors writing is always influenced by their surroundings and the history of which they have lived in. Anne Bradstreet was no different, and her Puritan surroundings and the happening history of the time, as well as her family occupied her poems. Anne Bradstreet s writings were usually personal accounts, but her Puritan living was very apparent and that is what I will focus on. To start lets go over a little history about Anne Bradstreet. She was born in 1612 with the maiden name Dudley and died in 1672. She was the first woman to be recognized as an accomplished New World Poet. Bradstreet did not attend school, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this poem states her thoughts on much of nature, as well as opinions on how to live life and honor God. She contemplates verses of the bible containing the story of Cain and Abel and ponders the nature of humans. The puritan viewpoint that man is weak and vain and full of sin is apparent in this poem. Especially in the 29th stanza, Man at the best a creature frail and vain, / In knowledge ignorant, in strength but weak, / Subject to sorrows, losses, sickness, pain, / Each storm his state, his mind, his body break, /From some of these he never finds cessation, /But day or night, within, without, vexation, / Troubles from foes, from friends, from dearest, near st Relation. She demonstrated how although man is weak and sinful he still hopes for divine translation. Nor all his losses, crosses and vexation, /In weight, in frequency and long duration / Can make him deeply groan for that divine Translation. Anne Bradstreet was very strong in her Puritan values and it showed through in her poetry, especially this one. The historical values of her time were based highly on the societies religious values. The poem encompasses the societies view on nature and God, and man s place in the world. Bradstreet s form of poetry was unusual and she contrasts typically Puritan views by feeling closer to God by connecting with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Speech On The Oppressed By Paulo Freire Mohamad Afiq Md Daud WR115 Conversation Plan In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire describes about what the education system supposedly need to be. He critiques that the education during his era is almost as similar as dictatorship. In this style of education, teacher has the superiority over their students. The teacher is the one who know everything, while the students are considered to know nothing, and that is absolutely unfair towards the students because they do not have the chance to learning . Furthermore, based on Kirp s excerpt entitled Make School a Democracy , he reveals the solution towards the education system problem during Freire s era. The solution is also known as Escuela Nueva (New School) model. Hence, what do I realize is the education is a process of teaching and learning between the teacher and the students. An effective education system leads the students in becoming a person with a good thinking skills who able to understand the facts rather than memorizing it. Based on what I have read, I recognized that both Freire and Kirp have a similar main idea in fighting for the education rights. They suggest that education needs to be an interactive learning. Both teacher and students need to communicate by making discussion or sharing opinions; this theory is also called as problem posing education. The company has experienced success year over year since the early 1900s. Their success can be attributed to the unorthodox way in which the company is led and managed. Early in the company s life an advisory board was created which gave employees a voice that could be heard by upper management. Soon after the creation of the advisory board, working hours were reduced and additional benefits were given to employees that included life insurance policies and continued educational opportunities. That both employees and management want to be a part of something great, a part of a team that is working for the same goal of making their company successful. Lincoln believed that a worker is worthy of what they earn. If they work hard, they should be paid commensurate with that effort. When looking at the way in which the Lincoln Company is organized and managed, the first thing you might notice is that their culture is very people oriented. Fairness is very important as well as respect for employees and who they are as human beings. People oriented companies tend to have employees that stay with their companies longer than companies with differing cultures. I believe that due to this culture of valuing employees worker turnover at Lincoln is not an issue. The organizational structure of Lincoln is informal and there is no organizational chart. Because employees are treated with such value they have an intrinsic drive to work hard and make their company successful. This also allows there to be very need for supervision. When employees are treated with respect and are compensated for their work, the response is to self supervise. This culture is very different from what you will find in companies today. Today, many leaders and managers truly believe that employees must be controlled and managed harshly in order to get results. But, the child at the preoperational stage still learns from concrete evidence while adults learn in abstract way. Meanwhile, here are a few limitations to the preoperational stage. To start with, child in preoperational stage may lack the concept of conversation. For instance, a child is given two rows of apples that have the same number of apple. But, one of the rows is longer than the other one without changing the number of apple. Child at the preoperational stage states that rows lengths are not same. Because, the look of the objects gave the wrong impression about them to the child. Mostly, children s decision making depends on their perception (Etc.edu.cn,2017). • 6. The Mpaa Rating System Of America The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies (MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13 movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real while older children are more mature and ... A porous pavement is one with high enough porosity and permeability to allow rain and snowmelt to pass through it, thereby reducing the runoff from a site and surrounding areas. In intensely built up areas, pavements account for more than half of all the land, and for about two thirds of total built cover (Ferguson, 2005, 2 3). Parking lots, in particular, account for the majority of paved areas. Pervious paving materials have the capability of providing a dual purpose in parking and other areas with low to ... This base serves as a reservoir for stormwater runoff where water is allowed to infiltrate to underlying permeable soils or is redirected through an overflow drain system. Filter fabric is placed beneath the aggregate subgrade to prevent fine particles from moving into the soil bed. Essentially, porous pavement infiltrates and treats rainwater where it falls (Ferguson, 2005, 10). The pore space and aggregate base act as rainwater retention, reducing runoff during storm events. Further, particles and pollutants are removed from the water flow through the filtration process, with the underlying soils acting as a second filter treatment area and as a water recharge basin. Use Applicability Porous pavements are particularly functional as low volume traffic surfaces and parking areas and have been used for over thirty years. Early installations continue to function as both parking lots and stormwater management systems. Cahill Associates (CA) designed one of the first large scale porous parking lots for an office park in a Philadelphia suburb. The design consists of porous asphalt parking bays terraced down a hillside and connected by conventional traffic lanes. The site is over 20 years old, has not needed repaving, and has staved off sinkholes in an area prone to them. CA attributes this to even distribution of stormwater through infiltration and particularly to the aggregate reservoir below the surface. Through other projects, CA has found that ... Sleep deprivation can have negative effects. When people do not get enough sleep or less, they may feel crabby and unable to function as well as they usually do the next day. Balancing work and parenting as a single parent in today s society is tough. Juggling children, work, taking care of home, and cart the children to extracurricular activities are a lot for one s plate. As single parent I had my share of sleepless nights as well, mostly when either my children fall sick or when I work extra shift at work. The last time I remember when I had a sleepless night was when both of these factors together came to hunt me. I agreed to work extra hours at the hospital because the night shift secretary was unable to come into work. Although I had worked a 12 hour shift, I still had enough energy to work at less five more hours that I had agreed too. At the end of my shift I was ready for a hot shower and my warm bed to rest. My daughter came down with a fever that night. She was vomiting, and could not keep any fluids down. My daughter was restless and was only able to sleep an hour at a time. I wasn t really able to sleep at all because I was constantly checking her temperature. Each time she vomited or even tossed and fussed in her sleep I was up with her. The problem with the law was its proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on activities for boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders but are dominated by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far greater than the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn t being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to operate. I consider the concept of pain relief used in labour via epidural as a very intriguing topic. It plays the role as a central nerve blocking analgesia administered through the lower part of the spine near the nerves that conveys pain (Anim Somuah, Smyth Jones, 2011). In recent years, the rate of serious crimes has increased. The increase of crime is the result of less effective punishment. Dating back to early civilizations, capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective punishment. Yet today s society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment should be executed more often because; the rate of serious crime will decrease, free up prison space, and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital punishment is the lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious crime, such as first degree murder. Some people agree it is the most appropriate punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but others call it cruel and unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The method used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain less results. My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed more often is because it could possibly help the problem of overcrowding in prisons.
