Role Of The Cultural Perspective When Dealing With Conflict
For any international organization, understanding cultural differences is very significant in the global
context. The article analyzes the role and impact of the cultural perspective when dealing with conflict
in the global context. What seems like a perfectly reasonable approach in one culture may seem
ridiculous, disrespectful, inefficient, or unfair to managers from other cultures. Japanese and German
managers may be uneasy with conflict resolution preferences that differ from their own. (Adams,
p.110.) The understanding that organizational and global cultures vary results in the connected
research supported in several businesses in diverse fields.
This research did not only use the preferences of superiors employed in multicultural environments,
when analyzing, but explored the role of each individual s culture in defining a possible resolution. If
managers insist on their cultural preferences as the way to resolve disagreements, more disagreements
will emerge because of misunderstood processes for resolving disagreements. The results of this study
suggest that effective conflict resolution may need to begin with the recognition of different cultural
preferences for resolution strategies. Only then can further attempts at resolution proceed effectively.
In other words, focus on the where before jumping into the how. (Adams, p.110)
Creating a workplace environment that enables employees to flourish includes the recognition that
cultural diversity is important.

Pope Leon XIII And The Rerum Novarum Encyclical
Having new opportunities in life is exciting, but when those opportunities become the obstacle to
pursue happiness, life may lose its meaning. Something similar happened during the industrial
revolution, which society changes. However, the church was present to advocate for those whose
happiness was taken away. Pope Leon XIII marked the history of society by writing the Rerum
Novarum Encyclical during the industrial revolution. Even though the industrial revolution
transformed the history of the world with the creation of new job s factories, it changed the society by
originating two classes, the wealthy and the poor. Pope Leon XIII, saw that advantages and
disadvantages of the industrial revolution and decided to convey the injustices happened at that time.
Pope Leo XIII used that scripture and reason of natural law to argue about the common goods and the
rights of the workers.
Sharing benefits between members of the community is a principle that Pope Leo XIII transmitted in
his encyclical. The church has always been on behalf of the poor. For that reason
Pope Leo XIII used that Bible as a way to support his idea of the common good. He cited, There was
not a needy person among them, for as many as owned land or houses sold them and brought the
proceeds of what was sold (Acts 4:34). This passage supports his idea of the common good through a
spiritual interpretation with a moral lesson, which encourages the wealthy people to help or share their
goods to the needy, as

Artificial Intelligence ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ) Essay
Within the construction industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to take jobsites by storm. If
someone were to walk onto a jobsite today, someone in that location would be using AI. Current uses
of AI today span from mobile technology that supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot
pouring concrete or welding a pipe. With the technology improvements being made daily, there will be
a day few people will consist of the workforce on the job, and the rest will be some sort of robotics.
Among the Artificial Intelligence being used or that will be the future are: Drones/UAV (Unmanned
Aerial Vehicle), SAM (Semi Automated Mason), robotic welding, Autonomous TMA (Truck Mounted
Attenuator) Truck, and Contour Crafting.
Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) A lot of people may think of drones, also known as UAV
(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), as the toys children play with in the yard after opening their Christmas
gifts, but for the construction industry, it means so much more. Drones are capable of a multitude of
things, and for business owner s and clients, the most important thing is getting the job done sooner
with reduced costs. Previously, layouts of jobsites took weeks. The land had to be surveyed to verify if
the soil was appropriate and whether it needed to be graded or not. Areas had to be marked off where
each trade would store their material. Physical surveying of the area with tripods had to be done, as
well, for the specific layout and placement of the

Doping in Sports
Doping in Sports Steroids are a bigger problem now then they ve ever have been. They ve always
been a problem but they ve been incognito to the public eye. The New York Times bring up a
troubling issue that s been going on for years and that is the misuse of steroids in professional level
sports. The New York Times recently featured an article entitled Steroids in Sports Oct 11, 2012. In
this article the times aims to convince their readers that steroid use is bad if not worse then ever

The article continues to talk about the first season results and how they were suppose to remain

pathos, kids are seeing these role models using and abusing steroids so why can t they? They won t go
anywhere unless they use them. Fox news came out with a report A dangerous trend: Kids and teens
using steroids within that article Dr. Manny Alvarez states, A new study shows that about five percent
of middle and high school students have used anabolic steroids to put on muscle... However all
steroids aren t bad, in fact steroids are used all the time to help with inflammatory disease, skin
problems, eye infections, and many more as stated by healthlevelup.com. It s just a matter of how
many you take that can have harmful effects on you. The Times turns its focus on particular instances
of misuse of steroids through well known baseball players. Barry Bonds beat the all time home run
record but stated in the article Bonds was indicted on federal perjury...grand jury testimony in a
steroids case. He was convicted in 2011. The New York Times uses Roger Clemens case as well to
show that our most memorable moments in baseball history we re abusing steroids. It also posed as a

Rice Paddies and Bologna: Gladwell s Broad Generalizations of Success
In Malcom Gladwell s Outliers, Gladwell defines success as hidden advantages and social
predestination as stated by critic Michiko Kakutani. Kakutani argues that Gladwell s hypotheses are
not cohesive and are selective to support his idea. I concur with Kakutani. Gladwell does not provide
adequate examples and counterarguments to give his theory a concrete foundation. This creates a very
unconvincing argument. Gladwell asserts that success comes from factors and advantages that are
mostly overlooked such as birth dates and cultural backgrounds; however, his ideas are loosely based,
overly generalized, and unreliable.
Now, with technology advancing at the same rate as society matures and changes, success is a concept
that can be different to many different groups of people. Gladwell insists that success is formulated
through a series of hidden advantages and cultural legacies that are fixed, therefore that s why many
do not become successful. I simply do not feel that is the case. Success is achieved through ambition
and hard work that is instilled in you. Anyone has the power to take matters into their own hands and
create their own success.
Gladwell used many anecdotes and stories to push his hypotheses. An example would be the two
chapters titled The Trouble with Geniuses Part One and The Trouble With Geniuses Part Two . In
these chapters, Gladwell introduces Chris Langan, a man with an IQ higher

The Development Of Technology And The Internet
Introduction The first sale doctrine is an important provision in the United States Code regarding
businesses and transactions, especially in a rapidly expanding digital world. The development of
technology and the Internet is impacting the interpretation of the first sale doctrine. Additionally, the
first sale doctrine has created some conflict within the courts because of its ambiguity in regards to the
international and digital markets. While there is a specific importation ban within the Copyright Act of
1976 in 17 U.S.C. § 602(a), the first sale doctrine, prior to the result of Kirtsaeng v. Wiley Sons, Inc.,
did not apply to manufactured goods from outside of the United States. Before the holdings of the

Background The first sale doctrine, initially established in the Copyright Act of 1909, first originated
in the case Bobbs Merrill Co. v. Strauss in 1908. This provision of the United States Code allows the
owner of a particular copy of a copyrighted work to resell or otherwise dispose of that copy without
infringing the rights of the copyright holder, in effect restricting the copyright holder s exclusive right
to distribute. By this provision, a consumer may purchase an original, tangible copy of the copyrighted
work, and then that consumer has is entitled, without the authority of the copyright owner, to sell or
otherwise dispose of the possession of that copy or phonorecord. The first sale doctrine, applied
specifically to tangible goods, protects the a particular good and places limitations on copyright
owners ability to monopolize the product. Therefore, the first sale doctrine places limitations on the
original copyright owner s right to distribute their work. An author of a particular copyrighted good or
work only benefits from the initial first sale of the product, and does not have any control over further
subsequent transfers of the good. The applicability of the first sale doctrine regarding tangible goods is
unquestioned. However, in the continuously updating digital world, it is becoming more difficult to
determine the applicability

Genetic Case Studies
GENETIC CASE STUDIES 4 Case 1 Q1. This infant exhibits a genetic defect known as 21
hydroxylase deficiency classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), which is an inherited disorder
that affects the adrenal glands (What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH). The female infant in
this case study exhibits the classic form of the condition, resulting in ambiguous genitalia. The adrenal
glands are located on top of the kidneys and produce a variety of hormones that regulate many
essential functions in the body. In people with 21 hydroxylase deficiency, the adrenal glands produce
excess androgens, which are male sex hormones (What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH).
Females with the condition may exhibit male sex traits such hirsutism and pattern baldness as well as
irregular menstruation and impaired fertility. The source of the condition is a mutation in the
CYP21A2 gene which is necessary for the creation of the enzyme 21 hydroxylase. This enzyme is
found in the adrenal glands, where it plays a role in producing hormones called cortisol and
aldosterone and without the enzyme, substances that are usually used to form cortisol and aldosterone
instead build up in the adrenal glands and are converted to androgens. The excess production of
androgens leads to abnormalities of sexual development in people with 21 hydroxylase deficiency
(What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH). Q2. There is no known cure for this disorder.

Mythbusters
There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These
technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often propagated is
the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of superpower that allows them
to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to be able to infiltrate everything
from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the myth that hacking is not done
quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the most effective, hackers form
groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely manner.
In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice. He
is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best hackers
in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds. In the end of
the scene, the hacker is able to complete the job in 60 seconds. This scene pushes forward the idea that
a single person can hack the government in less than one minute without preparation beforehand. This
myth is dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of Peace. They were upset about a specific movie that Sony was releasing, which depicted North
Korea s government as a parody. After threatening Sony to take it down, they finally hacked them.
They took over 100tb of data from it s servers. That data included emails between executives and even
a handful of unreleased movies. (Griffin, Andrew) This hack was unprecedented in its scale and
vengeance. Because of its scale, this hack could only be accomplished by a group working towards a
single goal. This again is contrary to the stereotype that hackers work

Cell Phone Radiation May Help Alzheimer s Disease Essay
Every 71 seconds in this country, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease and in a startling
new report out today from the Alzheimer s Association, predicts that one out of every eight baby
boomers or almost 10 milllion Americans is expected to develop this disease, (Mckenzie). The
University of South Florida has led a study along with the Alzheimer s Disease Research Center which
has abandoned the idea that cell phone radiation is detrimental to our health. The experiment studied
the effects of cell phones on Alzheimer s. Professor Arendash, started this study by noticing that the
students in the hallway of the university had cell phones plastered to their ears. He set up the
experiment with lab mice, beaming electromagnetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These mice kept strong memories and performed just as well as normal mice which suggests that the
radiation could have protected their memories. Mice, who were transgenic, began the radiation
treatment at five months old when memories had begun to deteriorate. In such cases, the radiation
seemed to stop further memory loss and in some mice, the radiation may have reversed the memory
loss. According to the health physics society, radiation is an energy that comes from a source and
travels through space which may be able to penetrate various materials. In the past few weeks of our
chemistry class I have learned that atoms whom have an unstable nuclei are radioactive, these atoms
give off excess energy which are radiation rays. Radiation varies from gamma, beta, and alpha rays.
Gamma rays have the shortest wavelengths and highest frequencies. Gamma rays are the most
energetic form of light produced by the hottest regions of the universe and emitted by the nucleus of
radioactive atoms. Because of this, gamma rays are used to penetrate tissue property, such as in the
use of CT scans, and radiation therapy. Alpha particles are also ejected by the nuclei of unstable
atoms; however, they are large and consist of two protons and two neutrons. Although alpha particles
have a high mass, they are the most destructive form of radiation with a low penetrating force; a single
piece of paper can block alpha particles. Beta particles are much

Explosion Of Birth Order
You are connected to your family by more than just blood. The way you think and act is largely based
on the unnoticed bias your parents give during childhood. Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler was the
first to explore the ideas of birth order and how it affects personality due to family ordinance. Adler
was a world renowned psychiatrist and philosopher who formed the idea of individual psychology. He
was a colleague of Sigmund Freud and helped establish psychoanalysis, and was a founding member
of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society (Cherry). Associate professor in the psychology department at
the University of Redlands Catherine Salmon says, Adler s work led to an explosion of birth order

Though, birth order illuminates a majority of our personality traits and decisions such as, career and
romantic relationships. Parents get wrapped up in the firstborn haze and overlook how much pressure
they put on older siblings. By creating a pressure to be the best and in control the older sibling takes
on the leadership role and often becomes more aligned with doing better in school than younger
siblings. Determination and intelligence correspond with higher level of career, and that is just what
the older sibling strives for. In fact, 100% of astronauts who ve gone into space were either eldest
children or eldest sons (State). Relationships work better if partners differ from each other and aren t
in the same birth order. The competition can be detrimental and problematic. Alfred Adler s birth order
theory provides us with useful information to reflect our decisions and explain how you think about
things. By becoming aware of it we can become more familiar with ourselves and get out of the all too

Japanese Immigrants During The 19th Century
In the early 19th century, there was an increase of Japanese immigrating across the states. The first
wave of Japanese immigrant settled in Kingdom of Hawaii where they were hired as contract laborers
and worked in plantations. The second wave of immigrant came to California in the1890s. According
to Kitano, the census identified more than 110,000 Japanese on the West Coast by 1920. To elaborate,
the Japanese immigrants came as single males, and employment for them consisted of physical
difficult labor, long hours of work with bad conditions, and low paying jobs. The generations of the

major interactions revolved around their families and their community. Most of them acquired just
enough knowledge about the United States in order to function but left the major of acculturation and
a more secure existence to their American born children . Moreover, the Nisei were born between
1910 and 1940, and were more acculturated to the United States in comparison to the Issei. The Nisei
were concerned and had low expectations of their future because they experienced discrimination and
prejudice. It was difficult for the Nisei to live in the U.S. because they were treated inferior although
they were U.S. citizens. The Nisei had a strong relationship with the U.S. and moved away from the
Issei to assimilate to the American lifestyle. The Sansei were born during or after World War II. After
the attack on Pearl Harbor, many Americans became suspicious of the Japanese and feared another
attack. Prejudice influenced Americans to stereotype the Japanese in negative ways, which lead for
U.S. laws to discriminate and segregate the Japanese. As a result, on December 7, 1941, the FBI

Canada Renewable Energy Case Study
2.2 The wrong definition of the market and the creation of the market
2.21 A brief introduction of Canada Renewable Energy/FIT In Canada Renewable Energy/FIT, the AB
made several innovations which were criticized by commentators. The argument started from the
provision of FIT system by the government of the Canadian Province of Ontario. The province of
Ontario provided a feed in tariff program to the renewable energy (wind and solar energy) producers
which compromised 20 year price guarantee. Then, the Panel and the AB were required to determine
whether the province of Ontario conferred advantages on the renewable energy producers. It was the
responsibility for the complainants (Japan and Europe) to prove that the actions of the province ...

To be specific, the AB stated even if the demand side factors suggested that the definition of the
market should be a single electricity market, regardless of its sources, the supply side elements also
implied that the renewable energy market created by the government should be the market benchmark
which should be distinguished from the regular energy market. As stated above, it is clear that the
theories of supply side and demand side were in the equal position. Therefore, there was not enough
evidence for the AB to abandon the theory of demand side . As these two theories were in the equal
position, the consumers views should be worth referring to. To be specific, the Panel found that the
consumers do not distinguish electricity on the basis of generation technologies, prices and usage.
Furthermore, the AB also expressed the same opinion, saying electricity is identical and there is high
demand substitutability between electricity through various technologies. Obviously, the consumers
did not care about the electricity generation sources. In sum, according to the EU experiences and the
attitudes of the consumers, the definition of the market should not be confined to a renewable energy
market, instead, a broader wholesale electricity market should be the appropriate benchmark. If the
renewable energy market is adopted to measure subsidies,

This practical involved the determination of susceptibility of antimicrobial agents using the Kirby
Bauer sensitivity test as well as investigating the minimal inhibitory concentration of penicillin. This
practical also demonstrated the reversal of penicillin inhibition in the presence or absence of β
lactamase.
Method A nutrient agar plate containing the test organism with attenuated enteric bacteria was
inoculated by use of a swab dipped into bacterial suspension provided. Inoculation streaks were done
on the entire plate after which the agar plate was left to dry for 5 minutes. The filter paper disc
impregnated with antibiotics was picked up by a pair of forceps, dipped in alcohol and passed through
a flame for sterilization purposes. The filter paper disc were then pressed onto the agar plate using the
forceps and incubated for 48hours at 37 degrees Celsius. The pre incubated annual radii between the
edge of the disk and the edge of the confluent were measured and the results recorded after incubation
took place.
Test tubes containing serial dilution of 1: 1000 brain heart infusion (BHI) broth attenuated with strains
of the bacteria was incubated overnight at 37 degrees Celsius. Incubation was done in the absence or
presence of increasing concentration of penicillin. 200 microliter was pipetted into the 96 well plate
after which it was analyzed using a microplate reader using 570nm optical density.

More Deserving More than half of the college graduates who are fully qualified to become teachers
never accept teaching jobs (Haberman). Many find this very telling, as it shows that teaching is a
career path that has become rather unwanted by graduates. This is understandable, since teaching has
become a profession notorious for low salaries and poor treatment. As a result, teaching has become

In recent years, the increase in teachers wages has slowed dramatically, to the point that it has
essentially declined. According to the National Education Association...inflation increased 3.1 percent
over the past year, while teacher salaries increased by only 2.3 percent (Study 9). As a result, the value
of the US dollar has decreased, meaning that it takes more money to purchase products, while teachers
salaries have not increased enough to compensate for this higher cost of living. Additionally, in some
states, the average base salary of teachers simply increased less than it did in previous years (The
Increase). Also, teaching is one of the lowest paying professions in America, as shown by recent
studies. The AFT, which uses data collected by the National Association of Colleges and Employers,
maintains that teachers, at an average yearly salary of $44,367, lag behind accountants at $54,981,
engineers at $96,238 and computer program analysts at $74,534. If additional summer pay were added
to the computations, teachers would still earn just $49,438 (Silverman 16). This is unacceptable, and
these trends showcase that America is moving in the wrong direction regarding this issue. Finally,
teachers salaries are simply not reflective of their perceived value. Teachers are people

Secretariat
The movie Secretariat was released in 2010 and is based on a unbelievable true story. Penny Chenery
inherits the horses from the family farm in Virginia when her mother and father pass away. As the
farm struggles financially, Penny raises the colt that she won in the coin toss with Ogden Phipps, one
of the richest men in America. In all her efforts to save the farm, her colt Secretariat, won the Triple
Crown (Wallace, R). The unforgettable last scene of the most important one in the film. The focus is
on the final race of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes. If the horse were to lose this race, Penny
would lose the family farm. The camera focuses mainly on the horses in this scene. Its starts focused
on the riders in the starting gate. The hush falls over the crown, therefore emphasizing the dramatic
effect. The camera then moves to the track as the horses come out of the starting gate. A following
shot is used as the horses make their way around the track. Every now and again the camera focuses
on the actors in the grandstands to show their nervousness during the event. Multiple times a hand
held shot was used on both the horse and the rider. The film makers strapped a camera to the under
side of the horse as well as the rider s chest. These shots are nothing less than unique but since the
movement of the horse is so dramatic, it is difficult for the camera to get a good and clear shot.

efforts have been made by researchers to synthesis Ag nanoparticles by various methods, such as,
chemical reduction,9 gamma ray radiation,10 electrochemical method,11 laser ablation,12
microwave13 and photochemical reduction.14 In recent years, the necessity of environmental safety
leads to the rising interest in biological approaches. Interestingly, green synthesis has proven many
advantages to synthesis AgNPs over any other approaches due to low cost, non toxicity, repeatability,
bulk production, environmental friendly, less time consuming, ease of synthesis, avoiding capping
agents used in chemical synthesis etc.15 Number of biological method to synthesized metal
nanoparticles are available in literature, such as, using microorganisms including bacteria, fungi and
plants.16,17 But this process involves the tedious procedure of maintaining microbial cultures. The
plant extracts give a good choice for synthesis of metal nanoparticles as they are widely dispense,
easily accessible and much safer to handle, nontoxic and provides a natural capping agents. Plant
extracts is also of great interest for its use in antioxidant activity as plants contain a wide variety of
free radicals scavenging molecules including phenols, flavonoids, vitamins, terpenoids are rich in
antioxidant activity.18 Plant extracts act reducing as well as stabilizing

Window Advantages And Disadvantages
The color, texture and pattern of various items in a space can contribute either negatively or positively
to how a particular room looks or feels. Windows are no exception, and that is why it is of utmost
importance to carefully consider how best to dress them, so they can complement the rest of your
décor.
To help you make an informed choice, we have come up with a guide to help you get suitable window
treatments for each room in your home. What s more we tell you where you can find them at pocket
friendly prices so that you get value for your money.
First and foremost, it is important to note that these decorative elements do more than just add
aesthetics. They perform additional functions such as:
Controlling the entry of light
Blocking U.V rays
Providing privacy
Controlling temperatures in a room
Therefore, they are a necessary addition to any home. There are two major types to choose from, the
stiff and soft window treatments. Today, we will focus on the stiff treatments that are a worth having
in your home or office. Under this broad category are examples of blinds and shades that add not only
pattern and color to your interior, but also meet the functional needs they are intended for.
1. Wooden Blinds
Blinds are hung either vertically over large windows or horizontally over smaller ones and are made of
slats that are tilted closed or open by cords. The slats are made from different types of natural wood
giving it distinct finishes. This makes for an

62 Aldehyder
Esmeralda Curiel Organic Chemistry November 11, 2014 Experiment 62 The Aldehyde Enigma
INTRODUCTION In the Cannizaro reaction an aldehyde is simultaneously reduced into its primary
alcohol form and also oxidized into it s carboxylic acid form. The purpose of this experiment is to
isolate, purify and identify compounds 1 and 2 which contain 4 chlorobenzaldehyde, methanol, and
aqueous potassium hydroxide. Compounds 1 and 2 are purified by crystallization. . The purified
product will be characterized by IR spectroscopy and melting point. As detailed in Pavia s Organic
Laboratory techniques the reaction is expected to proceed via the following reaction: Aqueous ...

For the organic layer, we had a melting point range of 240 243°C. For the IR spectra, we did note the
C Cl bond although there was not an OH bond present. ANALYSIS The reaction involves a
nucleophilic acyl substitution on an aldehyde, with the leaving group concurrently attacking another
aldehyde in the second step. First the Potassium hydroxide attacks a carbonyl, which forms a
tetahedral intermediate which then collapses when attacked by another hydroxide. The carbonyl is
formed again when its hydride attacks another carbonyl. In the final step of the reaction, the acid and
alkoxide ions formed exchange a proton. In the presence of a very high concentration of base, the
aldehyde first forms a doubly charged anion from which a hydride ion is transferred to the second
molecule of aldehyde to form carboxylate and alkoxide ions. Subsequently, the alkoxide ion acquires a
proton from the solvent. 4 chlorobenzoic acid which was the aqueous layer has a theoretical melting
point of 240 243°C, the organic layer, 4 chlorobenzyl alcohol has a theoretical melting point of 68

The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human Body
Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self, allowing it to stay at
one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin detect changes in the external
temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus.
Hypothalamus is a processing centre in the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of
sending out signals to other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose
bumps, sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing when hot
and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control its preferred temperature,
this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a good speed keeping you healthy and stable.
Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t be able to
function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has many ways of cooling
and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the physiologic functions such as thirst,
hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all
will suffer causing massive health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows
your body to maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed to
return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external temperature is to hot the

Dominance In Jane Goodall s The Shadow Of Man
This highlights a very important detail of the dominance hierarchy; how flexible it is. Before his
display with the Kerosene cans Mike was practically on the bottom of the hierarchy but with one
strong display shot up to the top. This shows the quite fascinating ability for the species to recognize
individuals and remember their actions allowing someone such as Mike to do one spectacular act of
dominance and be remembered for it and not have to fight for it again. This is quite different from a
species such as the Stag Beetle, were the same males may wrestle for territory over and over with the
same victor simply because the loser doesn t remember the winner. Further squabbles for dominance
are made unnecessary between individuals when one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She explains that the shadow of man refers to the towering presence that man holds above the chimp
and indeed all wild animals. Chimpanzees live in man s shadow, only able to survive in places that
man has not claimed for farming or timber purposes. What havens these creatures do have is
continually shrinking as man shines his light of industry on the shadow. Goodall and many others fear
for the continued survival of animals who call these untouched forests their home as they should given
not only the indirect killing of these species by destroying their habitats but also by more direct means
such as hunting for locals needs or even worse, for the desires of foreigners who financially support
the hunting of these endangered species. As Goodall insinuated in the final two chapters, chimpanzees
and the creatures in their habitat have much to teach us about the development of intelligence, the past
of our species and its development, and modern day human psychology that is often difficult to
observe. The chimpanzee lives at the mercy of man and their interests are constantly at odds. The
deaths of the chimps are seen not as big of a tragedy as they are lesser than man, they are animals.
What Dr.Goodall s work shows is that the chimpanzee is not only similar to man genetically, they
have personalities, feel heartbreak, form relationship and create tools just as a man

Cells, armed guard escorts, there are many luxuries offered to the inmates who are in protective

The Theme Of Hunctuation In Sonnet 31 By Sir Philip Sidney
Sonnet 31, written by Sir Philip Sidney, is a sonnet that examines the range of emotions felt by a man
that has been rejected by a woman. The poet explores the theme of rejection by using aspects of form,
structure and language. These include form, tone, punctuation, enjambment and pathetic fallacy. One
of the ways Sidney illustrates the motif of rejection is by form. The rhyme scheme in the octave of the
poem follows a pattern of ABBAABBA, which shows that it is a Petrarchan sonnet. However, the
sestet does not follow the usual pattern of a Petrarchan sonnet in that it follows a rhyme scheme of
CDCDEE. Therefore, it can be concluded that Sonnet 61 is a Petrarchan sonnet with Shakespearean
variations. The poet employs a variation in the form of a poet to represent rebellion. The persona of
the poem has been rejected by a woman he loves. His anger and frustration leads him to question the
condition of womankind in its entirety, which can be seen in the line Are beauties there as proud as
here they be . His rage is further proven by the poet s choice to avoid conforming to the regular rhyme
scheme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial tone of the poem is sadness, which can be seen in the line With how sad steps, O Moon,
thou climb st the skies! As the poem progresses, the emotions of the persona escalate, which can be
seen in the anger expressed to the Moon as a result of being rejected. Emotions of anger and rage can
be seen in the persistent questioning of the women in heaven and the persona s comparison of the
women on earth to the women in heaven. This is evidenced in the lines Is constant love deemed there
but want of wit?/ Are beauties there as proud as here they be? This change and escalation of tone is
clearly the result of the persona s growing frustrations and rage after being rejected. Therefore, it can
be concluded that the escalating tone in the poem is used to express the theme of

The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the author L. Frank Baum uses colors to represent emotions and
characteristics of the characters and settings in the story. Baum s use of colors not only brought the
characters to life, but also allowed the reader to understand their points of view and motivation in
every scenario. Even children at young ages can comprehend the deep meaning of colors. Infants learn
basic color interpretation such as red objects represent anger while white characters symbolize good.
Baum uses colors to a greater extent when he takes his protagonist Dorothy through the magical land
of Oz. Colors in this novel play a crucial part in separating Dorothy s home life in Kansas from her
adventure through Oz. L. Frank Baum s use of colors in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz symbolize
maturity, loyalty and protection within the characters of the novel. To begin this tale, L. Frank Baum
opens with Dorothy in her hometown Kansas. Dorothy s time in Kansas is surrounded by the color
gray. The unemotional color gray symbolizes subdued, boring and drab (empower yourself with color
psychology). In the novel, Dorothy is an excited child who wants to play and express her creativity. A
setting such as Kansas is not the place for her. In Kansas, everything is subdued because most of the
population is older and more mature than Dorothy is. This brings a feeling of boredom to Dorothy
because relative to her, the rest of the town is very drab or lacking in spirit. Baum brilliantly set an

The Merriam-Webster Definition Of Cosmogony
The Merriam Webster definition of cosmogony is: a theory of the origin of the universe. Now this
seems simple. As long as there have been humans on Earth we have looked back to find some
meaning to our existence. The simple fact is that we are a forever curious species, and we are driven
by a need to understand the world around us. However, for most of our history, we have lacked the
means of observing enough of space to truly understand our origins, so we created gods to explain
things we couldn t understand. As our understanding of the universe changed, so, too, did these gods.

My First Day Of Math
I am writing to you to talk about the complicated semester I have had in Math.
Our first day of math we talked about the Handshake Problem. We needed to figure out how many
handshakes there would be in our class of sixteen students but we could not shake the same hands
twice. Our class got in a circle began to model out the problem by shaking each other s hand but then
we had to figure out a formula. A common method that I have used throughout the whole semester is
making a table. I made a table and was able to make the conclusion that the number of handshakes
were increasing by counting numbers. By that time class had ended and for homework we needed to
come up with a formula for this problem and reflect. When I first tried to find an equation for this
problem is 16 x 15 = 240. This equation did not work because I was counting for shaking the same
handshakes twice. If I would have divided it 240 by 2 I would have got 120 and that would have been
the correct answer. After careful discuss, in class and out of class thinking our final conclusion was
that the formula was n(n 1)/2. N is for the number of people that come into the room. N 1 is the one
less hand the next person will have to shake from the previous person. This equation worked for any
number of people that needed to shake hands. One of the goals of the class is to acquire numerous
strategies for approaching and solving unfamiliar mathematical problems and the habits of posing new
problems. My professor

Stylisticism In The Swimmer Poem
The Liffey Swim is a painting capturing the annual Dublin river race. It cleverly depicts the crowd
gathered flowing out of the painting. This makes the viewer feel like they are a part of the artwork and
action that is taking place in the painting. The crowd leaning forward and the passengers passing by
on the tram trying to catch a glimpse of the race, bring the viewers eyes to the three swimmers
portrayed trying to see for themselves, what everyone is paying attention too. Yeats captures the
atmosphere and thrill of an event that has been part of Dublin s annual sporting calendar since 1920 1.

the abandonment of realism and trying to portray the scenes truthfully. In the first painting, The Liffey

Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain
Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones or
just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your very
final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well articulated
fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through the main
character Anders. Written by Tobias Wolff, the story follows a man who finds the cliché in anything
and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I enjoyed this story
would be the understatement of the century. The short story is purely brilliant and one of the most
thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an old pompous bank
building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before closing time so, of course,
the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind puts him in the worst mood
possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life and in turn has let it turn him bitter.
Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line because the teller decides to neglect her
job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies
in front of him who were just trying to make conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything
changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two men in ski masks are attempting

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Coal Energy
In Ohio, the type of energy we use are coal, natural gas, and nuclear. While these assets are discovered

The Veil Of Ignorance In Rawls Theory Of Justice

define and explain the original position and veil of ignorance. The paper will explore the various
implications of Rawls application of the Veil of Ignorance and its use in establishing his conception of
justice. The paper shall look into the different criticisms of the veil of ignorance followed by the

Rawls uses the original position as an alternative to the state of nature and is regarded by Rawls as the
appropriate initial situation for a social contract as justice is the first virtue of social institutions, as
truth is of systems of thought. (Rawls 3) He uses justice as a part of his social contract theory because

and innovate it with their brilliance). It is the category that defines the set of skills, traits and
characteristics suited to that entrepreneur. For example the first type of entrepreneurs i.e. Inventors are
revolutionary blended with growth orientation. They want to revolutionize the market or industry and
grow at some rate so that their product becomes a necessity e.g. Thomas Edison, While on the other

The Entrepreneur:
The entrepreneur I chose and researched is Mr. Elon musk who is a Canadian American serial
entrepreneur, Pioneered some all time great state of the art companies like Paypal (Worldwide online
payment system sold to eBay in 2002), SpaceX (Aerospace manufacturer and transport company),
SolarCity (Energy solution provider), OpenAI (NFP AI research company) and Tesla Motors (Electric
(cell powered) automobile manufacturer) conceptualized brilliant ideas like Hyperloop (High speed
transportation system) and proposed a VTOL supersonic jet aircraft which he named Musk electric jet.
Characteristics and Traits:
Well definitely Elon can easily be classified as both a revolutionary and growth entrepreneur. When he
introduced Paypal it was a revolutionary online transactions system and soon it

Queen Elizabeth I Essays
Queen Elizabeth I was by all rights England s most praised monarch. Her success in her reign, viewed
in later centuries, cannot adequately encompass all that she did or how she maintained her power. In
part, her endurance stems from the way in which she learned early in life to fight with forces that were
not physical, those of her mind, her intellect, and her own spirit. She used her intellect to create an
empire. Her education and early training of mind together with her basic understanding of humanity,
both of her own and that of her subjects, kept her at the helm for more than forty years. Analysis of her
writings, which include speeches, poems, letters, and documents to Parliament, will help readers
understand that Elizabeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Queen Elizabeth I was actually born Elizabeth Tudor, the daughter of Henry VIII and his second wife
(after England s split from the Catholic Church), Anne Boleyn. She was crowned Queen of England
on January14, 1559 and reined for the next 44 years. She is remembered by such names as the Virgin
Queen and Good Queen Bess.
Her childhood was a rather tumultuous one, with her father paying very little or no attention to her.
Her governess had to write to him saying that Elizabeth needed some clothes because all of the ones
that she had were too small. Her mother was executed when she was 2 years old after being accused of
adultery, incest etc. After her father s death, the throne went to her Catholic half sister Mary. Mary s
policies of burning Protestants at the stake and an unsuccessful war with France, wherein she lost
Callais, the last of England s strongholds on the continent, made her less than popular.
When Elizabeth was sixteen rumors were spread she had plotted with Thomas Seymour to put him in
line for the throne. In addition, the rumor that she was having a love affair with him and was pregnant
with his child surfaced. These rumors called into question the value of honor and honesty of the young
Lady Elizabeth.
In this situation, Elizabeth shows one of her first examples of building her leadership image through
her writings. Elizabeth wrote a letter

The Badlands Research Paper
The Badlands
Quickly pulling over to view the stark landscape, which was similar to being on the moon. I began
driving the Badlands Loop a 40.03 mile road around Badlands National Park, South Dakota. The
scenery did not have the splendor of the Grand Canyon or the natural geysers of Yellowstone.
However, the sandstone formations, surround by the prairie grassland were special. Just after sunrise,
the long theatrical shadows on the water and wind carved features, created an eerie landscape.
Nevertheless, this did not deter a group of bighorn sheep from grazing on the side of the gravel road.
After a brief stop to admire the large towering sandstone formations, I had a great view; high on a
distant mesa sat a large plot of green grass with

Demonstration Of Corruption In The Statue Of Liberty
Another demonstration of corruption is between Evey and the bishop. V plans for Evey to disguise
herself as a young religious girl and to get in contact with the bishop. While the bishop attends to
Evey, he suggests to do a religious activity and directs her to a bedroom. Wary of the bishop s actions,
Evey distracts him until he interrupts, Now take off your clothes please...Oh nevermind, allow me to
(Moore 53). The bishop is associated with religious authority, meaning that he has power in the
church. The irony is that he is supposed to be practicing ethics, considering the religious aspects that
he involves himself in. However, the bishop nearly sexually harassed Evey, which is against the
common knowledge of religious authority. The victims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In anarchy, everyone is responsible for themselves, without government interference. However, Moore
expresses his thoughts about freedom through his character, V. One example is V visiting the Statue of
Liberty and having a brief discussion on the idea of freedom (Moore 40 41). The Statue of Liberty
associates with the idea of freedom and justice. It is in the belief that the country is free, since the
Statue of Liberty is publicly exposed to demonstrate the country s freedom. V questions whether the
country the truly free. He introduces his fascination of his preferred system of government, since he
no longer sees the freedom that the country promises. He states, [Anarchy] has taught me that justice
is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike like
you, Jezebel (Moore 41). V suggests that the people can only obtain freedom if they are able to fight
for justice. Instead of continuing to believe the promise of freedom by the government, V chooses to
obtain freedom himself. On the bottom left panel, the Statue of Liberty explodes due to V. This
represents how V is no longer willing to have false hope of the government. He is abandoning the
ideals of the fascist

The Classical Nature of the Sui Dynasty
Classical
WHAT IS CLASSICAL?
There are multiple meanings of classical, originally the term classical is a way to describe the
literature, culture and art of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Though this is the original
definition of the word classical it is well argued that many different civilizations and arts, literature,
and culture can be described as classical.
EXAMPLE
An example would be classic music as this would be referencing European music around the 18th to
19th century.
JUSTIFYING CLASSICAL
Another definition of classical is the most developed stage of art from a civilization such as Chinese
classic poetry or classical music. Having these two quite contradicting definitions, to justify,
something that is classical gives a great impact as well as long impact on today s society whether the
impact was either positive or negative.
THE SUI DYNASTY
An example of this new justified definition would be the Sui Dynasty and how it has impacted China
so much to which they had introduced a new religion that now takes up 20% to 50% of China s
population.
Brief History
During the 6th century, the hardworking micromanager Yang Jian had ascended the Sui dynasty. This
dynasty preceded the Southern and Northern Dynasties and was quite a productive time in terms of
artistic production. For over a century, China has unified after the north south division and tried to
unify the people of China by using the Equal field system. This technique allowed the

How Did Japanese Attack Pearl Harbor
WWII was a war in which the United States was hoping to stay out of. But that hope was shattered
when the japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. THey managed to completely knock the pacific fleet right
out of the fight before it had even began. Immediately after, the U.S declared war against Japan. Then
a mass production was in effect in the states. getting America right back on its feet in the pacific.
Many battles ensued in one of the worst world wars ever seen before.
The first major keystone of the U.S defensive was the Battle of the midway. This is when the japanese
had thought that most of the U.S carriers had been destroyed. They did not expect the the U.S.S t
Yorktown to have made such a hasty repair at Pearl Harbor, This was an advantage had the U.S had
against the Japs. These faulty japanese assumptions were there downfall due to the fact that the U.S
had set up an ambush of their own. This lead to the loss of the four major japanese carriers used in the
six carrier force during the Pearl Harbor Attack. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marines. The 886 IJN personnel defending the naval and seaplane bases on the three islands
stubbornly resisted the Marine attacks. With much difficulty, the Marines secured all three islands;
Tulagi on 8 August, and Gavutu and Tanambogo by 9 August. The Japanese defenders were killed
nearly to the very last man, while the Marines took casualties of 122 killed.
The Gilbert and Marshall Islands campaign, from November 1943 through February 1944, were
strategic operations for the United States Pacific Fleet and Marine Corps in the Central Pacific. These
operations were to establish airfields that would allow land based air support for the upcoming
operations across the Central Pacific. The campaign began with an pricey three day battle for the
island of Betio at the Tarawa atoll. The campaign launched a year earlier by a diversionary raid on
Makin Island by U.S. Marines in August

  • 2. Role Of The Cultural Perspective When Dealing With Conflict For any international organization, understanding cultural differences is very significant in the global context. The article analyzes the role and impact of the cultural perspective when dealing with conflict in the global context. What seems like a perfectly reasonable approach in one culture may seem ridiculous, disrespectful, inefficient, or unfair to managers from other cultures. Japanese and German managers may be uneasy with conflict resolution preferences that differ from their own. (Adams, p.110.) The understanding that organizational and global cultures vary results in the connected research supported in several businesses in diverse fields. This research did not only use the preferences of superiors employed in multicultural environments, when analyzing, but explored the role of each individual s culture in defining a possible resolution. If managers insist on their cultural preferences as the way to resolve disagreements, more disagreements will emerge because of misunderstood processes for resolving disagreements. The results of this study suggest that effective conflict resolution may need to begin with the recognition of different cultural preferences for resolution strategies. Only then can further attempts at resolution proceed effectively. In other words, focus on the where before jumping into the how. (Adams, p.110) Creating a workplace environment that enables employees to flourish includes the recognition that cultural diversity is important. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pope Leon XIII And The Rerum Novarum Encyclical Having new opportunities in life is exciting, but when those opportunities become the obstacle to pursue happiness, life may lose its meaning. Something similar happened during the industrial revolution, which society changes. However, the church was present to advocate for those whose happiness was taken away. Pope Leon XIII marked the history of society by writing the Rerum Novarum Encyclical during the industrial revolution. Even though the industrial revolution transformed the history of the world with the creation of new job s factories, it changed the society by originating two classes, the wealthy and the poor. Pope Leon XIII, saw that advantages and disadvantages of the industrial revolution and decided to convey the injustices happened at that time. Pope Leo XIII used that scripture and reason of natural law to argue about the common goods and the rights of the workers. Sharing benefits between members of the community is a principle that Pope Leo XIII transmitted in his encyclical. The church has always been on behalf of the poor. For that reason Pope Leo XIII used that Bible as a way to support his idea of the common good. He cited, There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold (Acts 4:34). This passage supports his idea of the common good through a spiritual interpretation with a moral lesson, which encourages the wealthy people to help or share their goods to the needy, as ... • 4. Artificial Intelligence ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ) Essay Within the construction industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to take jobsites by storm. If someone were to walk onto a jobsite today, someone in that location would be using AI. Current uses of AI today span from mobile technology that supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot pouring concrete or welding a pipe. With the technology improvements being made daily, there will be a day few people will consist of the workforce on the job, and the rest will be some sort of robotics. Among the Artificial Intelligence being used or that will be the future are: Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), SAM (Semi Automated Mason), robotic welding, Autonomous TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) Truck, and Contour Crafting. Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) A lot of people may think of drones, also known as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), as the toys children play with in the yard after opening their Christmas gifts, but for the construction industry, it means so much more. Drones are capable of a multitude of things, and for business owner s and clients, the most important thing is getting the job done sooner with reduced costs. Previously, layouts of jobsites took weeks. The land had to be surveyed to verify if the soil was appropriate and whether it needed to be graded or not. Areas had to be marked off where each trade would store their material. Physical surveying of the area with tripods had to be done, as well, for the specific layout and placement of the ... • 6. Rice Paddies And Bologn Malcom Gladwell s Broad... Rice Paddies and Bologna: Gladwell s Broad Generalizations of Success In Malcom Gladwell s Outliers, Gladwell defines success as hidden advantages and social predestination as stated by critic Michiko Kakutani. Kakutani argues that Gladwell s hypotheses are not cohesive and are selective to support his idea. I concur with Kakutani. Gladwell does not provide adequate examples and counterarguments to give his theory a concrete foundation. This creates a very unconvincing argument. Gladwell asserts that success comes from factors and advantages that are mostly overlooked such as birth dates and cultural backgrounds; however, his ideas are loosely based, overly generalized, and unreliable. Now, with technology advancing at the same rate as society matures and changes, success is a concept that can be different to many different groups of people. Gladwell insists that success is formulated through a series of hidden advantages and cultural legacies that are fixed, therefore that s why many do not become successful. I simply do not feel that is the case. Success is achieved through ambition and hard work that is instilled in you. Anyone has the power to take matters into their own hands and create their own success. Gladwell used many anecdotes and stories to push his hypotheses. An example would be the two chapters titled The Trouble with Geniuses Part One and The Trouble With Geniuses Part Two . In these chapters, Gladwell introduces Chris Langan, a man with an IQ higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Development Of Technology And The Internet Introduction The first sale doctrine is an important provision in the United States Code regarding businesses and transactions, especially in a rapidly expanding digital world. The development of technology and the Internet is impacting the interpretation of the first sale doctrine. Additionally, the first sale doctrine has created some conflict within the courts because of its ambiguity in regards to the international and digital markets. While there is a specific importation ban within the Copyright Act of 1976 in 17 U.S.C. § 602(a), the first sale doctrine, prior to the result of Kirtsaeng v. Background The first sale doctrine, initially established in the Copyright Act of 1909, first originated in the case Bobbs Merrill Co. v. Strauss in 1908. This provision of the United States Code allows the owner of a particular copy of a copyrighted work to resell or otherwise dispose of that copy without infringing the rights of the copyright holder, in effect restricting the copyright holder s exclusive right to distribute. By this provision, a consumer may purchase an original, tangible copy of the copyrighted work, and then that consumer has is entitled, without the authority of the copyright owner, to sell or otherwise dispose of the possession of that copy or phonorecord. The first sale doctrine, applied specifically to tangible goods, protects the a particular good and places limitations on copyright owners ability to monopolize the product. Therefore, the first sale doctrine places limitations on the original copyright owner s right to distribute their work. An author of a particular copyrighted good or work only benefits from the initial first sale of the product, and does not have any control over further subsequent transfers of the good. The applicability of the first sale doctrine regarding tangible goods is unquestioned. • 8. Genetic Case Studies GENETIC CASE STUDIES 4 Case 1 Q1. This infant exhibits a genetic defect known as 21 hydroxylase deficiency classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), which is an inherited disorder that affects the adrenal glands (What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH). The female infant in this case study exhibits the classic form of the condition, resulting in ambiguous genitalia. The adrenal glands are located on top of the kidneys and produce a variety of hormones that regulate many essential functions in the body. In people with 21 hydroxylase deficiency, the adrenal glands produce excess androgens, which are male sex hormones (What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH). Females with the condition may exhibit male sex traits such hirsutism and pattern baldness as well as irregular menstruation and impaired fertility. The source of the condition is a mutation in the CYP21A2 gene which is necessary for the creation of the enzyme 21 hydroxylase. This enzyme is found in the adrenal glands, where it plays a role in producing hormones called cortisol and aldosterone and without the enzyme, substances that are usually used to form cortisol and aldosterone instead build up in the adrenal glands and are converted to androgens. The excess production of androgens leads to abnormalities of sexual development in people with 21 hydroxylase deficiency (What is 21 hydroxylase deficiency, 2010, NIH). Q2. • 9. Computer Science Mythbusters Research Paper Dailton Rabelo CS305 Mythbusters There are many Computer Science myths that are propagated throughout modern media. These technical myths can be seen as positive and sometimes negative. A big myth that is often propagated is the idea of hacking as an individual. Hackers are seen to possess a sort of superpower that allows them to hack anything alone. In movies and tv shows, hackers are shown to be able to infiltrate everything from social media accounts to governments. I want to debunk the myth that hacking is not done quickly by a single person like we see in the movies. Instead, to be the most effective, hackers form groups which enables them to solve difficult problems in a timely manner. In a clip from the movie Swordfish Stanley, a hacker, is forced to hack the Department of Justice. He is forced to help by Gabriel, the antagonist, who puts a gun to his head. Gabriel says the best hackers in the world are said to be able to do this in 60 minutes. I want you to do it in 60 seconds. The University of South Florida has led a study along with the Alzheimer s Disease Research Center which has abandoned the idea that cell phone radiation is detrimental to our health. Mice, who were transgenic, began the radiation treatment at five months old when memories had begun to deteriorate. In such cases, the radiation seemed to stop further memory loss and in some mice, the radiation may have reversed the memory loss. According to the health physics society, radiation is an energy that comes from a source and travels through space which may be able to penetrate various materials. In the past few weeks of our chemistry class I have learned that atoms whom have an unstable nuclei are radioactive, these atoms give off excess energy which are radiation rays. Radiation varies from gamma, beta, and alpha rays. Gamma rays have the shortest wavelengths and highest frequencies. Gamma rays are the most energetic form of light produced by the hottest regions of the universe and emitted by the nucleus of radioactive atoms. Because of this, gamma rays are used to penetrate tissue property, such as in the use of CT scans, and radiation therapy. Alpha particles are also ejected by the nuclei of unstable atoms; however, they are large and consist of two protons and two neutrons. Although alpha particles have a high mass, they are the most destructive form of radiation with a low penetrating force; a single piece of paper can block alpha particles. Beta particles are much ... Most of them acquired just enough knowledge about the United States in order to function but left the major of acculturation and a more secure existence to their American born children . Moreover, the Nisei were born between 1910 and 1940, and were more acculturated to the United States in comparison to the Issei. Canada Renewable Energy Case Study 2.2 The wrong definition of the market and the creation of the market 2.21 A brief introduction of Canada Renewable Energy/FIT In Canada Renewable Energy/FIT, the AB made several innovations which were criticized by commentators. The argument started from the provision of FIT system by the government of the Canadian Province of Ontario. The province of Ontario provided a feed in tariff program to the renewable energy (wind and solar energy) producers which compromised 20 year price guarantee. Then, the Panel and the AB were required to determine whether the province of Ontario conferred advantages on the renewable energy producers. To be specific, the AB stated even if the demand side factors suggested that the definition of the market should be a single electricity market, regardless of its sources, the supply side elements also implied that the renewable energy market created by the government should be the market benchmark which should be distinguished from the regular energy market. As stated above, it is clear that the theories of supply side and demand side were in the equal position. Therefore, there was not enough evidence for the AB to abandon the theory of demand side . As these two theories were in the equal position, the consumers views should be worth referring to. To be specific, the Panel found that the consumers do not distinguish electricity on the basis of generation technologies, prices and usage. Furthermore, the AB also expressed the same opinion, saying electricity is identical and there is high demand substitutability between electricity through various technologies. Obviously, the consumers did not care about the electricity generation sources. In sum, according to the EU experiences and the attitudes of the consumers, the definition of the market should not be confined to a renewable energy market, instead, a broader wholesale electricity market should be the appropriate benchmark. For the organic layer, we had a melting point range of 240 243°C. For the IR spectra, we did note the C Cl bond although there was not an OH bond present. ANALYSIS The reaction involves a nucleophilic acyl substitution on an aldehyde, with the leaving group concurrently attacking another aldehyde in the second step. First the Potassium hydroxide attacks a carbonyl, which forms a tetahedral intermediate which then collapses when attacked by another hydroxide. The carbonyl is formed again when its hydride attacks another carbonyl. In the final step of the reaction, the acid and alkoxide ions formed exchange a proton. In the presence of a very high concentration of base, the aldehyde first forms a doubly charged anion from which a hydride ion is transferred to the second molecule of aldehyde to form carboxylate and alkoxide ions. Subsequently, the alkoxide ion acquires a proton from the solvent. 4 chlorobenzoic acid which was the aqueous layer has a theoretical melting point of 240 243°C, the organic layer, 4 chlorobenzyl alcohol has a theoretical melting point of 68 71°C. • 23. The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human Body Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self, allowing it to stay at one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin detect changes in the external temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is a processing centre in the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of sending out signals to other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose bumps, sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing when hot and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control its preferred temperature, this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a good speed keeping you healthy and stable. Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t be able to function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has many ways of cooling and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the physiologic functions such as thirst, hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all will suffer causing massive health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows your body to maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed to return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external temperature is to hot the body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before his display with the Kerosene cans Mike was practically on the bottom of the hierarchy but with one strong display shot up to the top. This shows the quite fascinating ability for the species to recognize individuals and remember their actions allowing someone such as Mike to do one spectacular act of dominance and be remembered for it and not have to fight for it again. This is quite different from a species such as the Stag Beetle, were the same males may wrestle for territory over and over with the same victor simply because the loser doesn t remember the winner. She explains that the shadow of man refers to the towering presence that man holds above the chimp and indeed all wild animals. Chimpanzees live in man s shadow, only able to survive in places that man has not claimed for farming or timber purposes. What havens these creatures do have is continually shrinking as man shines his light of industry on the shadow. Goodall and many others fear for the continued survival of animals who call these untouched forests their home as they should given not only the indirect killing of these species by destroying their habitats but also by more direct means such as hunting for locals needs or even worse, for the desires of foreigners who financially support the hunting of these endangered species. As Goodall insinuated in the final two chapters, chimpanzees and the creatures in their habitat have much to teach us about the development of intelligence, the past of our species and its development, and modern day human psychology that is often difficult to observe. The chimpanzee lives at the mercy of man and their interests are constantly at odds. The deaths of the chimps are seen not as big of a tragedy as they are lesser than man, they are animals. • 27. The Theme Of Hunctuation In Sonnet 31 By Sir Philip Sidney Sonnet 31, written by Sir Philip Sidney, is a sonnet that examines the range of emotions felt by a man that has been rejected by a woman. The poet explores the theme of rejection by using aspects of form, structure and language. These include form, tone, punctuation, enjambment and pathetic fallacy. One of the ways Sidney illustrates the motif of rejection is by form. The rhyme scheme in the octave of the poem follows a pattern of ABBAABBA, which shows that it is a Petrarchan sonnet. However, the sestet does not follow the usual pattern of a Petrarchan sonnet in that it follows a rhyme scheme of CDCDEE. Therefore, it can be concluded that Sonnet 61 is a Petrarchan sonnet with Shakespearean variations. The poet employs a variation in the form of a poet to represent rebellion. The persona of the poem has been rejected by a woman he loves. His anger and frustration leads him to question the condition of womankind in its entirety, which can be seen in the line Are beauties there as proud as here they be . Emotions of anger and rage can be seen in the persistent questioning of the women in heaven and the persona s comparison of the women on earth to the women in heaven. This is evidenced in the lines Is constant love deemed there but want of wit?/ Are beauties there as proud as here they be? Even children at young ages can comprehend the deep meaning of colors. Infants learn basic color interpretation such as red objects represent anger while white characters symbolize good. Baum uses colors to a greater extent when he takes his protagonist Dorothy through the magical land of Oz. Colors in this novel play a crucial part in separating Dorothy s home life in Kansas from her adventure through Oz. L. Frank Baum s use of colors in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz symbolize maturity, loyalty and protection within the characters of the novel. To begin this tale, L. Frank Baum opens with Dorothy in her hometown Kansas. Dorothy s time in Kansas is surrounded by the color gray. The unemotional color gray symbolizes subdued, boring and drab (empower yourself with color psychology). In the novel, Dorothy is an excited child who wants to play and express her creativity. A setting such as Kansas is not the place for her. In Kansas, everything is subdued because most of the population is older and more mature than Dorothy is. We needed to figure out how many handshakes there would be in our class of sixteen students but we could not shake the same hands twice. Our class got in a circle began to model out the problem by shaking each other s hand but then we had to figure out a formula. A common method that I have used throughout the whole semester is making a table. I made a table and was able to make the conclusion that the number of handshakes were increasing by counting numbers. By that time class had ended and for homework we needed to come up with a formula for this problem and reflect. When I first tried to find an equation for this problem is 16 x 15 = 240. This equation did not work because I was counting for shaking the same handshakes twice. If I would have divided it 240 by 2 I would have got 120 and that would have been the correct answer. After careful discuss, in class and out of class thinking our final conclusion was that the formula was n(n 1)/2. N is for the number of people that come into the room. N 1 is the one less hand the next person will have to shake from the previous person. This equation worked for any number of people that needed to shake hands. One of the goals of the class is to acquire numerous strategies for approaching and solving unfamiliar mathematical problems and the habits of posing new problems. My professor ... She was crowned Queen of England on January14, 1559 and reined for the next 44 years. She is remembered by such names as the Virgin Queen and Good Queen Bess. Her childhood was a rather tumultuous one, with her father paying very little or no attention to her. Her governess had to write to him saying that Elizabeth needed some clothes because all of the ones that she had were too small. Her mother was executed when she was 2 years old after being accused of adultery, incest etc. After her father s death, the throne went to her Catholic half sister Mary. Mary s policies of burning Protestants at the stake and an unsuccessful war with France, wherein she lost Callais, the last of England s strongholds on the continent, made her less than popular. When Elizabeth was sixteen rumors were spread she had plotted with Thomas Seymour to put him in line for the throne. In addition, the rumor that she was having a love affair with him and was pregnant with his child surfaced. These rumors called into question the value of honor and honesty of the young Lady Elizabeth. In this situation, Elizabeth shows one of her first examples of building her leadership image through her writings. Elizabeth wrote a letter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Badlands Research Paper The Badlands Quickly pulling over to view the stark landscape, which was similar to being on the moon. I began driving the Badlands Loop a 40.03 mile road around Badlands National Park, South Dakota. The scenery did not have the splendor of the Grand Canyon or the natural geysers of Yellowstone. However, the sandstone formations, surround by the prairie grassland were special. Just after sunrise, the long theatrical shadows on the water and wind carved features, created an eerie landscape. Nevertheless, this did not deter a group of bighorn sheep from grazing on the side of the gravel road. After a brief stop to admire the large towering sandstone formations, I had a great view; high on a distant mesa sat a large plot of green grass with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

V plans for Evey to disguise herself as a young religious girl and to get in contact with the bishop. While the bishop attends to Evey, he suggests to do a religious activity and directs her to a bedroom. Wary of the bishop s actions, Evey distracts him until he interrupts, Now take off your clothes please...Oh nevermind, allow me to (Moore 53). The bishop is associated with religious authority, meaning that he has power in the church. The irony is that he is supposed to be practicing ethics, considering the religious aspects that he involves himself in. However, the bishop nearly sexually harassed Evey, which is against the common knowledge of religious authority. The victims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In anarchy, everyone is responsible for themselves, without government interference. However, Moore expresses his thoughts about freedom through his character, V. One example is V visiting the Statue of Liberty and having a brief discussion on the idea of freedom (Moore 40 41). The Statue of Liberty associates with the idea of freedom and justice. It is in the belief that the country is free, since the Statue of Liberty is publicly exposed to demonstrate the country s freedom. V questions whether the country the truly free. He introduces his fascination of his preferred system of government, since he no longer sees the freedom that the country promises. He states, [Anarchy] has taught me that justice is meaningless without freedom. She is honest. She makes no promises and breaks none. Unlike like you, Jezebel (Moore 41). V suggests that the people can only obtain freedom if they are able to fight for justice. Instead of continuing to believe the promise of freedom by the government, V chooses to obtain freedom himself. On the bottom left panel, the Statue of Liberty explodes due to V. This represents how V is no longer willing to have false hope of the government. He is abandoning the ideals of the fascist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Classical Nature of the Sui Dynasty Classical WHAT IS CLASSICAL? There are multiple meanings of classical, originally the term classical is a way to describe the literature, culture and art of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Though this is the original definition of the word classical it is well argued that many different civilizations and arts, literature, and culture can be described as classical. EXAMPLE An example would be classic music as this would be referencing European music around the 18th to 19th century. JUSTIFYING CLASSICAL Another definition of classical is the most developed stage of art from a civilization such as Chinese classic poetry or classical music. Having these two quite contradicting definitions, to justify, something that is classical gives a great impact as well as long impact on today s society whether the impact was either positive or negative. THE SUI DYNASTY An example of this new justified definition would be the Sui Dynasty and how it has impacted China so much to which they had introduced a new religion that now takes up 20% to 50% of China s population. Brief History During the 6th century, the hardworking micromanager Yang Jian had ascended the Sui dynasty. This dynasty preceded the Southern and Northern Dynasties and was quite a productive time in terms of artistic production.
