Experiments
Jay Birkin
process
The task I did while experimenting was create a city
landscape which I will now not use in the game
because it is too simple and does not fit anywhere in
the game it looks too out of place. I created this on
Photoshop but when it comes down to the final
product I think I will have it looking down from up
above the city and the characters have to navigate
there way through the city so it will be a 2D game
with birds eye view.
This was a non existent image that I created from
scratch by myself I just drew it free hand creating all
the buildings as a background image
If I had more time with this
experiment then I would have
added windows on all the
buildings and gave them
colour, most likely they would
have been dark.
The move tool is used
is used to move around
layers, I used this tool
to line up all of my
buildings together. The
pencil tool is used to
draw in pixels I drew
mine free hand in size 1
pixels. Finally the
colour tool, I used the
colour black because it
is an outline and black
stands out.
This option is
where I could
change the size of
pixels I was
drawing in however
I did not use this in
the making of my
experiment but I
might in my final
one.
The rubber tool would
be used if I made a
mistake and drew out
of line whilst free
handing but I left
them and it made
some of the building
walls thicker making
them stand out more.
Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I will not include a city side view as a background I may do a view from above though almost
like a map which I could then include as an in game map or I could even use it as a
background for the poster or game case I intend to create.. Drawing this has made me realise
I want to do a lot of pixel drawing work in this project especially with the making of my
characters I will draw them all in pixels. The city is dark and this is the colour scheme that I
want to use in the production of my final products.
