Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– The primary audience for this film is teenagers which
are aged between 15-24years. It is for British people
since the movie is set in the UK and they speak the
English language. It is a comedy so people of not high
education can watch it as well because it is not hard
too understand. Relating to this is social classes
making it watchable for any but the actual movie
itself includes the poor and jokes about them so it
could be for middle class. They also have too like a lot
of action.
• Secondary Audience
– The secondary audience is middle aged men of the
ages 24-45years. It is more a male movie and
designed for them than for others since the cast is
dominated by men and the women don’t have much
speaking parts and men tend to prefer the action
movie. This is the secondary audience because you
would probably watch this movie with your son if you
were a male. This movie is not for a lot of types
because it makes so many jokes like homophobic
jokes, sexist jokes towards women, presidency jokes
and jokes about poor people.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– Children are the primary audience for this film aged
between 5-14. It is for children because it includes a
very young cast and simple story for kids to
understand, plus it is made by Disney and most of
their movies and TV shows are targeted at children.
The whole movie includes a lot of red on this poster
and also there costumes, this red is a bright, vibrant
colour which relates well to children. It is for males
mainly because they focus more on the main male
characters rather than female and they give the
males better super powers.
• Secondary Audience
– The secondary audience is adults again males aged
between 25-45, this is because they will have too
watch the film with there kids because it is a very
family friendly movie. You can tell that it is a family
friendly movie because the whole main cast is a
family and other family's can kind of relate to that.
The reason this is the second audience is because
the story mainly focuses on Bob the lead male who is
struggling with his 2 lives which is what parents can
like because he himself is a parent.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– This was intended for men from 24-65 to
watch if they like thriller/horror movies. It is
intended for men as nearly the entire cast is
men and most of the females that you see
end up getting killed off. Another reason why
it is intended for males is because a shark is
seen as quite a strong character the king of
the sea and most males feel this way about
themselves. It is intended for older because
it is a little scary and if you don’t like the
sight of blood then its not for you.
• Secondary Audience
– Teens that would watch it aged 16-23 is the
secondary audience. This is the secondary
audience because it is a thriller movie that
you would all tend to watch together at a
cinema or your house. It is this age because
the movie itself is actually a 12 so it is
initially intended for anybody over that age
to watch.
Hypodermic Needle
• Definition
– Where an audience immediately believes and accepts what it is told
by the media to be true(also known as the magic bullet theory). The
model was originally designed in 1930s behaviourism and largely
considered obsolete for a long time, while big data analytics based
mass customization of companies has led to a modern revival of the
basic concept.
• Example
– The most famous incident as an example for the hypodermic needle
model was the 1938 broadcast of The War of the Worlds and the
subsequent reaction of widespread panic among its American mass
audience. It was written in the book "Propaganda Technique" in the
World War. The theory is a linear model of communication and talks
about media's power on audience.
Uses and Gratifications
• Information-I use Wikipedia website to find out information.
• Personal Identity-Reading books by using IBook's app.
• Integration and Social Interaction-This means communicating online for
example using Facebook.
• Entertainment-Catch up TV shows and movies for example Netflix.
Consumer Generated Content
• Example
– Back in 2014, Starbucks invited people to decorate one of its cups with customized art
and submit a photo of it to Twitter under the hashtag #WhiteCupContest. The brand
received almost 4,000 entries and the campaign generated an enormous amount of
social media activity.
• What are the advantages to media producers?
– Valuable Feedback-Feedback via user generated content also helps brands understand
what is good and bad about their products and services
– Cost Savings- user generated content can help companies reduce service costs by
compiling answers to common questions within online resources
– Gain Business Intelligence-User generated content certainly isn’t limited strictly to
marketing purposes
• Why would the audience generate content?
• Companies can seize the opportunity by using elements in their marketing which prompt
content creation from consumers. Marketing budgets need to be focused less on sales and
more on engagement, as the majority of customers really want to hear about products and
services from other people who have experienced them.

Theory audience pro-forma

  • 2. Audience Profile • Primary Audience – The primary audience for this film is teenagers which are aged between 15-24years. It is for British people since the movie is set in the UK and they speak the English language. It is a comedy so people of not high education can watch it as well because it is not hard too understand. Relating to this is social classes making it watchable for any but the actual movie itself includes the poor and jokes about them so it could be for middle class. They also have too like a lot of action. • Secondary Audience – The secondary audience is middle aged men of the ages 24-45years. It is more a male movie and designed for them than for others since the cast is dominated by men and the women don’t have much speaking parts and men tend to prefer the action movie. This is the secondary audience because you would probably watch this movie with your son if you were a male. This movie is not for a lot of types because it makes so many jokes like homophobic jokes, sexist jokes towards women, presidency jokes and jokes about poor people.
  • 3. Audience Profile • Primary Audience – Children are the primary audience for this film aged between 5-14. It is for children because it includes a very young cast and simple story for kids to understand, plus it is made by Disney and most of their movies and TV shows are targeted at children. The whole movie includes a lot of red on this poster and also there costumes, this red is a bright, vibrant colour which relates well to children. It is for males mainly because they focus more on the main male characters rather than female and they give the males better super powers. • Secondary Audience – The secondary audience is adults again males aged between 25-45, this is because they will have too watch the film with there kids because it is a very family friendly movie. You can tell that it is a family friendly movie because the whole main cast is a family and other family's can kind of relate to that. The reason this is the second audience is because the story mainly focuses on Bob the lead male who is struggling with his 2 lives which is what parents can like because he himself is a parent.
  • 4. Audience Profile • Primary Audience – This was intended for men from 24-65 to watch if they like thriller/horror movies. It is intended for men as nearly the entire cast is men and most of the females that you see end up getting killed off. Another reason why it is intended for males is because a shark is seen as quite a strong character the king of the sea and most males feel this way about themselves. It is intended for older because it is a little scary and if you don’t like the sight of blood then its not for you. • Secondary Audience – Teens that would watch it aged 16-23 is the secondary audience. This is the secondary audience because it is a thriller movie that you would all tend to watch together at a cinema or your house. It is this age because the movie itself is actually a 12 so it is initially intended for anybody over that age to watch.
  • 5. Hypodermic Needle • Definition – Where an audience immediately believes and accepts what it is told by the media to be true(also known as the magic bullet theory). The model was originally designed in 1930s behaviourism and largely considered obsolete for a long time, while big data analytics based mass customization of companies has led to a modern revival of the basic concept. • Example – The most famous incident as an example for the hypodermic needle model was the 1938 broadcast of The War of the Worlds and the subsequent reaction of widespread panic among its American mass audience. It was written in the book "Propaganda Technique" in the World War. The theory is a linear model of communication and talks about media's power on audience.
