All of these game case covers are on the survival genre.
These are all very similar in the way that they all include
darker colours and have a light effect coming from the
side as part of the background making it look like the sun
and mist is real. Mist connotations are usually similar to
these: miserableness, horror stories, coast/sea. Black is
associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil,
and mystery. The two cases of mad max and the division
have a tornado in the background tornadoes are very
negative due to the fact that the denotation of it is a
localized, violently destructive windstorm occurring over
land, especially in the Middle West, and characterized by
a long, funnel-shaped cloud extending toward the ground
and made visible by condensation and debris. All the
foreground images have at least one character on them .
The character looks dark and mysterious. All of these
appeal to the target audience because they seem more
developed and harder to look good, if you have this
rather than a simple picture and title. You should use
effects which I will do for my final piece.

The main factor of this game is that its snowing, Snow
connotes cold, white, death, winter. The torch or campfire
which is the only light in the surrounding darkness is
considered as a source of illumination, enlightenment,
guidance and hope. The game is generally dark and harsh
environmentally, Black is a mysterious color associated with
fear and the unknown. It usually has a negative connotation.
Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a
very formal, elegant, and prestigious colour. The title uses Red
in wild this really stands out because its big and contrasts with
the background which is white, Red is the color of fire and
blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength,
power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red
is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human
metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood
pressure making it very thrilling. Each different character
stands in a line in the poster and have their own weapons.

These posters are all similar mainly in the way that most
of them have a black border on some side then in the
middle it is bright. Black is associated with power,
elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. The text and
logos are very unique but simple and they are white,
contrasting well with the background which is black
making it very appealing and eye catching towards the
audience. The characters are all lined up in almost a
straight line on the assassins creed and watch dogs
poster which clearly shows of all the characters very well
not placing some over others making them all equal. Also
people can understand the poster easier when its like this
not when some characters are in the background and
then some in the foreground.
All of these appear to the target audience because they
seem more developed and harder to look good if you
have a blur effect or darker borders around the edges
then this will make my poster look good.

sweet home game
The in game images are very good. I really like
the birds eye view 2D pixel style it has going
on. The darker colours are fight scenes which
makes it more understandable in the game,
the darkness really brings out the thrill and
scariness of fighting monsters. The text inside
the boxes stands out, it states that it is
important to read and also it is very simple to
understand as there is not much text. You can
also read it very easily as it is white on black
which is a really great contrast.
The game case has a title in big red bold
letters Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it
is associated with energy, war, danger,
strength, power, determination. The
foreground image is a mash up of bright
colours creating an explosion look.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
The common conventions of the gaming style which are repeated are the colours on all of
the products, they are all mostly darker colours this relates to the gaming genre very well.
All of the text across the products are very big and bold fonts and are the colour red which
really brings out the power of the games and really shows their true nature.
What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
My existing products will help in the making of my final products I will use all similar colours
based on each product. For the poster I will make it dark at the bottom and the top by
being black and use a gradient or different colour making it lighter in the middle like a grey.
The game case title and poster title will be in their own specialised fonts and will also be
bold a red. The game case will not be too complex it will just include a background image
and one main image.

Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
I gave pictures of products that were very similar to my own idea. This is good because you
can see how yours might look and you could even take some ideas from them. A weakness
is you might just be copyrighting the same idea as someone else.
– Questionnaires
I used survey monkey which is a website that allows you to create your own surveys. They
can be analyzed more 'scientifically' and objectively than other forms of research but there
is no way to tell how truthful a respondent is being.
– Interviews
I wrote down 5 questions which needed longer answers for them instead of yes/no. The
good thing about interviews is that they are very personalised however they are only
restricted to a simple sample range.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
– I got great responses to all of my questions. They were all very serious and
really helped me out with my research so I now know every specific detail
about my product video game like the storyline and who the product is
designed for. I now know everything I need to know so I can now get on with
actually making my video game assets.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– I used survey monkey which is a website that allows you to create your own
surveys. An advantage to using survey monkey would be that you get instant
feedback from the respondent. Theirs no waiting time for the results, they are
delivered right away. A disadvantage is there's potential for error. If a question
is misread , misheard or improperly recorded, the results could be skewed.
