The document describes a student's process for creating a draft poster advertising Bethesda games. The student replaced letters in the word "Bethesda" with logos from games like Doom, Brink, and Rage. In reflections, the student notes which elements will carry over to the final poster, including the large Bethesda logo, game images, and overall layout. The student also plans improvements like using the magic wand tool instead of pen to cut out images, replacing some game images, and adjusting the background color and logo placement.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Process
• I am starting my poster and I have named the
poster “Draft poster” as its my practice poster
before I start on the real thing. I have used the
default Photoshop size and I’m using the default
measurements to complete my poster.
3. This shows that I have started work on my poster
by removing the main letters that I want to change
to a different design of that letter. I will keep the
same letter but will change it to the design of the
game that I am advertising. I have shown this like
that because its representing what I’m about to do
to the image shown and hopefully change the
letters so they successfully look good and fit the
image
4. This shows that I have expanded my
poster to that of adding my first game. I
have changed the letters to that of the
game “Doom”. Showing that doom is a
Bethesda game. I did this by getting the
Doom image off the internet and using
Photoshop I cut each individual image
out, so I could freely move each letter
around where I wanted. With that I
positioned them In a vertical fashion,
replacing the D with the new Doom D
which is clearly shown in the image.
5. This next image shows that I have added
another game into the Bethesda game logo,
this time I have added “Brink”. To do this I
found the image off the internet and cut out
each word via layer via copy, once I’d cut
each letter out I then positioned each letter
in the place I desired and I created what I
needed to for the letter B. As shown I
replaced the letter B with the game’s B to
make the logo of Bethesda look more unique
and interesting.
6. This shows I have started on my third game by
introducing the new E. The game I will be
introducing is “Rage”. I will then copy the
procedure from the past few slides in order to get
it the same as them. The image shows that I have
changed the standard Bethesda E and replaced it
with the game design one as it fits my theme.
7. This last screenshot shows my final
draft design. It shows how I’ve
conveyed my design and what parts I
have photoshopped in order for it to be
like it is. Like the others I repeated the
strategy to broadcast the design like it
is, also shown by the image I have
nearly converted all letters of the word
into games, but there is so much you
can do in such a limited space. Overall
though I am happy in the way that it
turned out, I will be making big
improvements on my poster because I
believe seem things should be changed,
but overall I’m happy with the way it
looks and the way it speaks to you,
from a gamers perspective.
8. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• The elements I will include In my final product will probably be all of the ones I have used in my draft poster, because I
believe that they looked good and benefitted me in my draft, so they could easily help me in the final product. Like
mentioned in my draft outlook in the slide before, I will almost definitely change the design of my poster as my drafts design
wasn’t the best and when it comes to the final thing it will look miles better. I will also keep the huge logo of Bethesda in my
final product as that sums up my whole idea and what I’m actually doing my product on, its also crucial being there as that
fuels the other ideas I’m putting in. I will also include the games images that I put in the draft and probably even more game
images as like the Bethesda logo it makes the poster. I will also include the layout of how the poster looks as I believe this
best suites the style that I am conveying. I probably would change the location of where the games are located as they look
a bit cluttered and unorganised at the moment, which I don’t want to convey.
• On my final product I will use the magic wand tool to cut out a image instead of messily drawing it in with the pen tool. I will
use this because it is less messy and usually turns out a lot better than scribbling it in the background colour. I will also
change a few of the game images as I don’t personally think they look the best, I definitely believe there’s better ones than
the ones I chose. I will also perhaps change the look of the background as I do like the black shade but I think it could
perhaps be a bit lighter as it fits a lot better with the look the games I will be incorporating. Thinking about it I will also
change the position In which the Bethesda logo is based as I don’t think its best suited there, I think I could perhaps change
the location of it to perhaps the corner of the poster. Which would give me more room to get more games into the poster.
