Working Title:
Flee
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My product will be targeted towards an audience that is mostly male between the ages of 16-20.
The reason for this is that statistics online show this to be the primary demographic in terms of
horror films. I also fit that demographic so creating the film for that age range will be easier than if I
did it for 30-44 year olds, for example.
The project will be most appealing to my chosen demographic as the style of horror/thriller will be
the most intriguing as I intend to film it in it a mockumentary style. It will also appeal because of the
age of the actors, being peers and myself around 16-18 years old.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have acquired some useful techniques when it comes to editing and filming.
These have influenced my choice, as I would be uncomfortable at this stage to make something
that required lots of visual effects, such as an action film.
Use of the audio recording equipment has inspired me to create a film that is dependent on
powerful audio: a horror. The editing will be less necessary as longer takes can be used to build
tension and suspense.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The main concept of the film revolves around a documented trip around a forest. It does not
appear to be sinister at first but the crew is spooked and forced to run. The main feature of the film
will be the ambiguous nature of the movie. The threat will never be shown at all throughout the
entire film in order to keep the audience in suspense of the reveal.
Research has shown that this specific technique is effective, as the audience’s imagination will
usually create more fear and tension than something onscreen.
The unique aspect that separates my film from others is that all the footage is from years ago.
Having recovered it from old files, I found it and was inspired to take on the challenge of turning it
into a horror film. The footage in itself is not eerie or creepy in the slightest but I believe that with
some editing techniques and some music it can become a short horror film.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
As the film will be made from footage taken a long time ago I will not be able to change any of the
techniques when it comes to filming. The editing, which has greatly improved from the start of the
year, will compensate this.
All the things I need to implement into my film I know how to do, such as changing the lighting to
make the image appear as though it is filmed at night. The music in the film will be something I will
need additional support with. Although having made music before in the project I am not
experienced enough with the software. This will require some research and practice.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-

production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work as I progress through the course. I will compare my film to the original
idea and those of my peers to measure how much progress has been made. Peers will also
assess the film in order to gain a reaction and insight from others.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
