Explain Why It Is Important To Manage The Skin
We go directly to the dentist to check on the fitness of our tooth to ensure that people don t need
treatment and prevent sickness against microbe infections. We sometimes go through medical
examinations to ensure our systems are healthy and completely functioning condition. Why not
manage our skin? The sun rays can damage your skin, causing the sun spots as well. Prevention is
preferable to cure Many people feel that when they are young, they don t have to manage their
epidermis because until they are really much older, no matter. However the way you manage your skin
layer now will impact you greatly in later life. How the skin we have stands the test of time is slightly

Even oily skin area must be damp well as dried skin will wrinkle and set considerably faster and
earlier than someone with an exceedingly oily skin. Dry skin area is also much more likely to be very
hypersensitive to winter chilly can make chapped epidermis, sore and swollen and can result in other
pores and skin diseases such as dermatitis or psoriasis. Cracked skin also offers the huge power
essential to harbor bacteria that lead to an infection. Everybody knows the value of normal water, it
flushes out all the waste and misuse from your skin, leaving it delicate, radiant and younger looking.
However, we should not neglect the skin we have externally, it needs a degree of moisture to keep its
elasticity and overall flexibility which explains why the utilization of facial cleanser and moisturizer
are so important. Skin toner is effective to remove pollutants and tighten skin pores, even if a few of
them can be quite abrasive on your skin should be utilized sparingly and really should not be utilized

Professional Learning Community
A Professional Learning Community, or PLC, is a group of educators that meets regularly, shares
expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of
students. Professional learning within communities requires continuous improvement, promotes
collective responsibility, and supports alignment of individual, team, school, and school system goals.
The literature on professional learning communities repeatedly gives attention to five attributes of
such organizational arrangements:
1. Supportive and shared leadership,
2. Collective creativity,
3. Shared values and vision,
4. Supportive conditions, and
5. Shared personal practice.
Learning communities share collective responsibility for the learning of all students within the school
or school system by bringing together the entire education community, including members of the
education workforce teachers, support staff, school system staff, and administrators as well as
families, policy makers, and other stakeholders, to increase effective teaching in every classroom.
Within learning communities, peer accountability rather than formal or administrative ... Show more

Knowledge base, teaching skills, reflective practice, scholarship of teaching and learning, and
professional learning community are interrelated factors for professional learning and development. A
strong knowledge base is the foundation of organizing information that are necessary for the learning
of our students while the teaching skills is significant for presenting those lessons. Reflective practice
allows us to explore deeper and look wider on or knowledge base and teaching skills and undergo a
scholarly research to reexamine and reassess our endeavors while the professional learning
communities provide us the venue to collaborate and share on those realizations and effectively

The Strongest Man Upon the Earth Is He Who Stands Most...
According to Henrik Ibsen, The strongest man upon the earth is he who stands most alone. In other
words, what this quote means is that the strongest man is the most independent; individuals who do
not need to rely on others to survive. Individuals who stand alone are the ones who realize the strength
within themselves and become powerful characters. This quote is valid because individuals who like
to take actions on their own and at their own pace become the most successful. Two works of
literature that support the validity of this statement are The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger and
The Color of Water, by James McBride.
The Color of Water, is a memoir, set in a variety of settings; from Suffolk, Virginia, to Wilmington, ...

For example, he was shipped to school and when he would get expelled; his parents paid no mind and
sent him to another school. He lived away from his family for a great part of his life and because of
being independent at such an early age; he later on endeared a mental breakdown and ended up in an
asylum. However, being independent made Holden realize that he has a problem and that if he would
not have gone to the asylum and seeked help from professions, then he would not have been able to
become a stronger and more successful individual. Ultimately, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D.
Salinger, and The Color of Water, by James McBride, both support the validity of the quote, The
strongest man upon the earth is he who stands most alone, said by author Henrik Ibsen. As life goes
on, individuals will learn and realize that isolating yourself will not get you anywhere in life; it will
only hurt you. You can be in control of your own destiny and you will gain perspective on your life.
Both protagonists, Holden Caulfield and Ruth McBride, teach us that to ensure a prominent future,
you need to overcome obstacles in all situations. This will better you as a person and will offer you a
sense of what happens in the real world. Being independent allows you to see the world from a
different perspective and no matter what life throws at you; you can get up from the ground, start
again, and begin leading

It s Come A Long Way From The First Draft
This is the final draft of the essay. It s come a long way from the first draft. The details are present and
the thread is more clear. At least to me, the writer, it is. I m proud of the elements I ve chosen and of
the way I ve chosen to connect them. The use of freedom as a thread was difficult, yet the perfect
challenge I needed. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my imagery within the piece. I
tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished visual imagery, a little bit of touch
and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed to connect two things I absolutely love
(nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this world, acceptance of others, ourselves and
racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking of another man. Never did I think I would be able
to connect these 4 completely different ideas in such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it.
I ve never been more excited about of a piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with
this piece. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m
weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire
essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the
words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. I m
lacking the sense of taste as how do I represent taste with

Ethos Pathos Logos Disadvantages
Ethos and pathos are rhetorical techniques Knopf uses to successfully deliver his argument. Knopf
effectively uses ethos to prove to the reader the credibility of his piece. One way Knopf goes about
doing this is he uses several creditable sources to back up his points. These sources include, Unites
States Department of Agriculture, Working Group s Farm Subsidies Database, and the New York
Times. By using a variety of different sources, Knopf is able to enhance his paper. Pathos is used when
Knopf mentions the extra seventy calories associated with whole milk and the disadvantages that
come from those extra calories. Knopf implores these extra calories are linked to heart disease and
obesity (Knopf). The majority of people reading this essay might be able to relate to that quote in one
way or another. The reader might know someone who is suffering from these diseases or they could
potentially have the diseases. Another example of pathos used would be when Knopf discusses the
effect cows have on the environment. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussing the benefits and disadvantages gives the reader background knowledge so they can see for
themselves the actual nutritional value of milk. In Knopf s essay, he compares skim milk to whole
milk. One cup of whole milk, according to the Web site, contains 70 more calories than a cup of skim
milk (Knopf). In todays society, many people are concerned with health and weight gain. Seventy
calories might seem like a large number to people who are trying to loose weight. By distinguishing
between the two milks, Knopf suggests milk can be both healthy and unhealthy. Knopf also discusses
how fat from whole milk is used to created other common dairy products. This fact might not be
known to the reader which can be an advantage because it could potentially cause the reader to think
about the dairy products they use and realize what they are made

The Resurrection Of Christ Jesus
The Resurrection of Christ Jesus according to the Apostle Paul
The example in the Gospels can express many examples of resurrection which delivers a strong
message In the New Testament. The term resurrection by Webster definition explains, Life,
raising from the dead. The Greek defines it as, A standing up again, recovery. John 11:25
explain Jesus speaking to Martha concerning her Brother Lazarus s death. He says, I am the
resurrection, (standing up again), and the life (breath), he who believes in Me shall live even if
he dies. There is much to contemplate when death and life have expression, as to stand up and
breath.
The commencement of this information will be organized in several parts to search and compare
a topics of this essay. Theologians give commentary to this topic as well and explain historical
content to understand. Many have believed Christ had not resurrected but was taken away and
buried. Some believed it to be a rumor to validate that which had been preached among the many
disciples. Eyewitnesses came forth to speak what happened and to solidify and cancel rumors.
The Apostle Paul converted to Christianity receiving a one on one account with the risen Lord
during his reign of terrorism in his day. My goal is to gather information to focus on the
comparison and contrast to the subject, The resurrection of Christ .
To achieve this goal I have organized insight in three paragraphs, to include scriptures on eye

Military Advances Essay
Military Advances
A good portion of my family has been in some form of the military, mainly the Army. In fact, I have a
couple cousins who are active members now. My paternal grandfather served in World War Two. My
maternal grandfather was an Army officer and was stationed in many different places, for example
California and Germany. He also served in Vietnam. He got a Purple Heart when he got shot through
the chest, nearly hitting his heart. When my mom told me this, I realized how close I had been to not
having a grandfather. Luckily, my mom had been born so I m here. But then I thought about all the
future generations of people that were cut short because of a small little piece of metal. This inspired
my writers block for my essay. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But since it s the strongest material in the natural world, how can it be broken down? All we would
need is an enormous amount of pressure. While goethite could greatly improve our soldier s safety, I
think another part of the suit in the video game Black Ops 3 could help. When I looked up a picture of
the suit, it seemed to have an electric glow, sort of staticky. If the suit had electric currents flowing
through wires, it could help military safety greatly, because if there is enough of a charge,
electricitycould warp metal, which is most likely how the bullets vaporized in Black Ops 3. While
electricity can t destroy metal now, I think something along those lines will happen in the future. After
all, Black Ops 3 does take place in the future. I think if armor was made out of the material found in
the limpet s teeth, and had electric currents flowing through the armor, this would have reduced the
casualties of U.S. soldiers substantially, because the armor would have been so strong. In the future,
there will be bigger and more powerful weapons. But, if the protection that was being worn was
upgraded, like the kinetic armor for example, that will keep our troops as safe as they can be, which

Materialistic Items In The Great Gatsby
Materialistic possessions became the center of popularity in the 1920 s, life became all about who
could get the most Women and throw the biggest party. These materialistic items were used to acquire
other non materialistic things such as love and social status. These goals were often unattainable,
specifically for three characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald s , The Great Gatsby. Love and social status
were the unattainable dreams of Myrtle, the status driven cheater; Wilson, the shooter; and Gatsby; the
Daisy craving self made millionaire. Myrtle Wilson married George Wilson because she thought he

marrying him. Nick describes The Valley of Ashes as we are introduced to it in the book. This is The
Valley of Ashes a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque
gardens. The Valley of Ashes is a place where life cannot exist. Wilson could never please Myrtle

Identity In Fantomina
How can you know who you really are if you are confined to a certain few social structures of
identity? A woman may be smarter, be able to do what a man can do, but everything from a job,
consisting of nannies to maids, or to her own sexuality, staying chaste till marriage, is under sharp
scrutiny. Sexuality is a hallmark theme of many novels even in the 18th century. Whether it be the
main plot of a story or one of the various subplots. In the stories Roxana and Fantomina the main
characters identities seem to be in control by using their sexuality to their own ends. These women go
nameless in their own stories, so do they truly stay within the confines of their sex of the 18th
century? Being nameless and going by an assumed identity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like Roxana she is using her sexuality and freedom to gain what she wants from life. Unlike Roxana
Fantomina s freedom is fleeting and only comes from lack of supervision. She was intrigued by the
freedom and sexuality showed of the prostitutes at the play house. the greater was her Wonder, that
Men, some of whom she knew were accounted to have Wit, should have Tastes so very depraved. This
excited a Curiosity in her to know in what Manner these Creatures were address d. This leads to her
descent into sexuality itself, which is more then she bargained for, she had just wanted the attention of
men falling all over themselves to talk to her. Fantomina is a lady of high standing, and men followed
the rules and protocols to woo a lady but not a prostitute. She depended on the strength of her virtue,
to bear her safe thro trials more dangerous than she apprehended this to be, and never having been
addressed by him as a lady was resolved to receive his devoirs as a town mistress, imagining a world
of satisfaction to herself in engaging him in the character of such a one, and in observing the surprise
he would be in to find himself refused by a woman who he supposed granted her favors without
exception. This passage shows that she never meant to give into sexual activity with him, also making
it clear that she is a woman who planned on protecting her chastity and virtue. This makes Fantomina
more sympathetic to the readers, who would judge a woman for giving into sexual desires. The story
however shows how even a high class lady who is expected to be able to maintain her self control can
be seduced by the idea of pleasure and freedom. An escape from her restrictive identity. She had gone
too far to retreat he was bold, he was resolute, she fearful confused altogether unprepared to resist in
such encounters. She was successful in seducing Beauplaisir, but it went

Importance Of Self Preservation In Hamlet
The first principle of human nature is self preservation: the natural instinct to protect oneself
physically and stay away from danger. In the tragedy, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Shakespeare brings
new light to the idea of desire to maintain a sense of self,in a deeper more complex aspect of the term.
As the play Hamlet delves into severe moral issues such as death and betrayal, Shakespeare
demonstrates the importance of establishing a sense of self. The character of Ophelia is often
dismissed as a flat, static character. However, through in depth analysis of her struggles and fate,
Ophelia s as despair and tragedy can ultimately be traced back to one source: her lack of
understanding and stability in selfhood. Throughout the play, it is clear that self preservation plays a
critical role in protecting one s identity and values when individuals respond to competing demands;
because when the ability to chose is taken away, an individual loses the clarity and sense of purpose
from selfhood. When individuals lack the ability to defend their ideas and personal preferences to
others, with confidence they will lose their identity and sense of self as they allow others to control
their opinions and thoughts. Ophelia s lack of confidence in herself solidifies both Laertes and
Polonius into occupying a dominant role expected of men in the 16th century. Polonius assures
Ophelia that her obedience is the best thing for her, and creates this illusion of himself as a crutch she
needs to respond to competing demands. Subsequently, when Ophelia finds herself torn between two
loyalties her love for Hamlet, and her father s expectations, Polonius sways her to compliance with his
ideas. I shall obey, my lord. (I, iv, 145 )This complete obedience of her father ultimately eliminates
Ophelia s self preservation that would ensure her best outcome. It is clear her father s requests of her
are not out of love and concern for Ophelia but for his own issues of vanity and securing his status.
This can be seen in misalignments in Polonius claims, and the condescension in his words to Ophelia.
As Laertes prepares to leave, Polonius grants him with advice, This above all: to thine own self be
true. (I, iii, 84). He contradicts

1973 Arab Oil Embargo And Its Effect On The US
Part D: Analysis:
In 1973, Arab states and Israel were in the midst of war. In retaliation of the U.S. resupplying Israeli
military, Arab members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) initiated an
embargo against the United States and other countries that supported Israel. This embargo banned
petroleum exports to certain countries, introduced cuts in oil production, and had a drastic effect on
the U.S. economy (Oil Embargo, 1973 1974). It led to quadrupling oil prices and oil shortages that led
to a widespread crisis across the United States and other countries facing the embargo. The crisis

relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran has been considered the most significant, lasting effect of the
Arab Oil Embargo. However, these changes were much less direct than those in the energy sector.
Even though the embargo led to the United States allying with Saudi Arabia when they had previously
been enemies, it can be argued that the embargo was not a direct cause of this shifting alliance (Myre).
Furthermore, the fact that the United States is now rivals with Iran is more the result of the overthrow
of the shah, who was effectively a puppet of the United States, than a consequence of the embargo
itself (Myre). While, the effects of these changing dynamics are still seen today and are undoubtedly
significant, the relationship between the embargo and the changing U.S. energy sector and policy is
much more visible and direct. What s more, the argument that the embargo most influenced U.S.
energy is backed with an abundance of evidence, while the evidence suggesting the changing
international relations resulted from the embargo is shaky and tentative at best. Due to this, it is
apparent that the claim that the embargo affected U.S. energy policy most significantly is the correct

Critically Discuss the Importance of Work-Life Balance in...
Critically discuss the importance of work life balance in the effective management of people at work
in contemporary organisations. Contemporary organisations are becoming more aware of the
increasing importance of work life balance as a result of increasing workforce diversity. Work Life
Balance refers to the striking balance between work and non work schedules (Harish, 2013, p. 62),
which has a significant impact on an organisations management process in regards to the planning,
organizing, leading and controlling of human and other resources to achieve organizational goals

This refers to refers to when employment relationships are based on mutual cooperation and a
harmony of interest between employers and employees (Balnave, 2012, p.95). An example of this is
demonstrated as store manager makes time available to mutually help an employee whose husband
has suffered a heart attack and requests leave they are not entitled for. However due to that employees
loyalty and reliability the store manager covers the employees shift (Smith 2012). The store manager
effectively managed people at work, balancing the employees work/life responsibilities but
significantly imbalances their own, thus creating workplace pressures and long hours culture (Smith,
2012, p.679). In this case there was a system in place for the employee where the manager took
responsibility and covered the shift; however there was no system in place for the manager. The
impact this has on the manager has only arisen due to the absence of a planned course of action for
sick leave, only mutual cooperation. This highlights the importance of work life balance but more the
need for correct systems should the need to balance work and life occurs. When it comes to managing
people effectively the process of controlling is not always completely in the hands of the manager.
Trade unions are an organisation of employees whose focus is the protection and negotiation

Sexuality In Tennessee Williams Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
In the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Williams explores a theme of sexuality. The story focuses on Brick
and his wife, Margaret. Margaret cares deeply for Brick and refuses to leave his side. Brick is ashamed
of his sexulity in the play. When he was younger he was great at sports and had a very close
relationship with his friend, Skipper. As I read the play I could see The crutch now bounds and helps

but now he attempts to escape. In the play the motif is the click in Brick s head. All he wants
throughout the play is to have the click occur. When the click occurs he can finally go to sleep in
peace. The click I get in my head when I ve had enough of this stuff to make me peaceful (Williams

There many diseases and conditions that can affect the human body, that may be unpredictable. It may
affect different systems of the body, and there might not be cure or treatment. The body consists of
three main systems the Integumentary System, Skeletal System, and the Muscular System, which help
us with our everyday lives. For example, the Integumentary System is the largest organ in the body,
which provides protection from viruses and other diseases. Our skin helps regulate body temperature
and eliminate waste. One disease that affects the Integumentary system is called Vitiligo, which causes

Taking a Look at the Shard
The view at the top of the Shard is breath taking. London is seen all around you like a moving
tapestry. The View, which is situated on floors 68, 69 and 72 of the Shard, is twice the height of any
other platform in London. It has been London s long awaited attraction where people enjoy 360 degree
views for up to 40 miles. Our sense of vision in this day and age is key to understanding and
acknowledging everything around us. In architecture the idea of uniqueness is taken from the use of
light and vision expressed. Architecture is mainly made us of glass and other materials to support it.
Natural light within open interior spaces being illuminated and divisions dependent on light and
transparency are vital part of modern architect influence. Piano says, I have spoken of immaterial
elements. These are such things as light, transparency, vibration, texture and color, elements that
interact with the form of the space but are not just a function of it. I started out, in an ingenious, even
rather primitive way, from lightness . Piano s concept of layering light and transparency is compliant
to do many things all at once. To bring forward a certain architectural look, light is a general principle
and vision is involved. Building with a lot of material teaches you to shape components and replace
toughness with adjustability. Piano describes that taking things away from the material is also
removing opacity from material. That lightness is an instrument and transparency is a

Keynes Macroeconomic Theory Essay
How did Keynes s idea of the reasons for the macro economic instability challenge the prevailing
economic orthodoxy?
After 100 years of the industrialization era modern economics began to see a change and shift of
ideas. These ideas were brought to the front by John Maynard Keynes, who in 1936 transformed much
of the modern economics by a single book The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.
Keynes also wrote other titles as well as ‘A Tract on Monetary Reform (1923) which was an attempt
to secure a monetary policy instead of the gold standard.
Keynes (2002) believed that the stable economy of Britain was more desirable than the stable value of
the pound on the foreign exchange. He argued against going back to the gold ... Show more content on

Keynes also suggested that to keep both in balance a managed monetary system should be introduced.
Keynes published this book during the Wall Street crash and yet again Keynes s idea was not paid
much attention to as economists as well as government officials were not aware of how serious the
depression was going to be.
Then Keynes wrote his book ‘The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and money but the ideas
in this book were inspired by the work of other economists.
Michael Tugan Baranowsky s development was later an important part of Keynes s analysis. He said
that the imbalance between savings and investments were at the heart of the business cycle. He said
that the imbalance could not be overcome by changes in the interest rates, as he argued that there were
reasons than the interest rate that motivated people to save. An even more important breakthrough was
made by a Swedish economist.
Knut Wicksell was the Swedish economist, and it was based on his ideas that Keynes developed the
theory of national income which led to the Keynesian revolution.
Say s Law suggested that any money saved will eventually get invested, and if there was some
imbalance in savings and investment it would be fixed by a rise or fall in interest rate. However,

The Japanese ethnic religion, Shinto heavily focuses on power manifested in natural things such as

consequences of environmental destruction and argues that humans should show more respect towards

satisfied with their current status. This forms a type of stigma amongst humans to want more. This
proves to be true when Lady Eboshi, leader of Iron Town, fights the protagonist Ashitaka, prince of

Critique Of Blindness In Jose Saramago s Blindness
Critique of Blindness Human nature is defined by emotional expression, the desire to learn,
individuality, and freedom of will. It enables people to make decisions on how they will conduct their
daily interactions and, therefore, dictates how society will be run. José Saramago s novel, Blindness,
tells the grim tale of a society devastated by a blindness epidemic known as the white evil. Without
their sight, people are no longer able to act in a civilized manner and become aggressive towards one
another as they struggle to survive. Saramago is able to redefine human nature as he takes a rather
pessimistic stance on the topic and decides to present it as no different from animalistic instinct.

Saramago created an opportunity to explain what it is like to live in such a society. He states, This
must be what it means to be a ghost, being certain that life exists, because your four sense say so, yet
unable to see it. (Saramago, 242) This indicates that the city, is no longer composed of people, but
rather it is composed of beings whose only purpose is to survive. Such writing demonstrates why
many readers believe that Saramago intended to reveal how human nature directly interacts with
personal misfortune and social catastrophe. Towards the end of the novel, the doctor s wife notes, I
don t think we did go blind, I think we are blind, Blind but seeing, Blind people who can see, but do
not see. (Saramago, 326) This highlights Saramago s political and philosophical intentions. With that
being said, such intentions are developed throughout the entire novel. The story begins in the middle
of rush hour, in an unknown city, when the first blind man is struck suddenly by blindness while
waiting at a traffic light. Afterwards, he is rushed to the doctor s office where he is, consequently,
responsible for the spread of the white evil. It was there that the first blind man infected all those
around him, and, as a result, began to spread the epidemic and panic throughout the city. With a large

The Importance Of Playing Basketball
Basketball is my passion and it makes me happy that I decided to continue playing. However, there
was a time when I was thinking about not playing again due to an awful experience I had while
playing basketball my senior year of high school. I have soon come to realize that not all coaches are
the same, for example, my high school basketball coach is very different to my college basketball
coach, especially when it comes to their coaching styles and attitudes towards their players and
coaching staff.
It is easily said that playing basketball my senior year of high school was my least favorite season.
The season was my least favorite, not because of my teammates, but due to the head coach. He only
designed plays to showcase our point guard, who is the person that calls the plays that we run on the
court. He also had the coaching style where things were either his way or you did not play. For
instance, if someone, other than our point guard, were to receive a pass and was wide open for a shot,
he would yell at them because they were not meant to shoot the ball in that play. However, in the other
coaches and players eyes it would seem pointless for them to not take the chance and shoot the ball,
especially if they are wide open. One could make the assumption that he was focused more on the
guards than on the group as a whole, but my college coach is nothing like that.
I may have only been playing ball in college for one month, but I can say with great confidence that

Pandemonium, by Lauren Oliver, is a fiction book. It s a relatable story about a young girl trying to

It doesn t stretch your mind as much as some teachers would like a summer book to do. Even though
this is a book for younger people, it is still a terrific choice for a summer read. Hatred is a high tower,
(Oliver 166). This quote from Pandemonium describes how this novel is relatable. Everyone feels
some type of hatred towards something in their lives. This book being relatable helps people today;
they may not be going through the exact same thing as Lena Haloway, mainly because this was a
futuristic book, and there is no such thing as the Wilds (Oliver 9) or a resistance (Oliver 196), but they
can see how she handled the hate. Thus, this book is relatable to many young girls because it is an

Beethoven Symphony Essay

Advanced Orchestration
Symphony no. 5 in C minor Beethoven s intent behind this piece is creating diversity out of unity. The
unifying idea of the work is a series of three short notes followed by one long note. The diversity of
the simple unifying idea therein is generated by the use of timbral development techniques and
expansion of the orchestra; however, there are several performance practices and technical issues that
impact the work s total realization. The score referenced throughout this essay is the Kalmus

The first appearance of the full original motif is in measure fourteen, made of three eighth notes and
an agogically emphasized eighth on the downbeat of the next measure. This particular rendition is
used throughout this movement to hold bring sections of it together on a macro level (mm. 21, 23, 30,
79 85, etc.). Various instruments throughout the movement also adapt three short notes as pick notes
or as set up sections for a string of lesser articulated notes(mm. 15 Violins, 76 77 Violin II and Viola,
etc.). For the first time in music history, movement three sees the emancipation of the low strings. The
introductory statement of the movement is not made with violin, high wind, or even viola; it is made
with the celli and basses. The two instruments lend a sort of dark cast to the line that sounds
anticipating, almost in a foreboding sense. The anticipation is met with the original motif at measure
nineteen played by horns and accompanied by strings, which is then texturally expanded into the
entire orchestra, much like it has been at time in the previous two movements (mm. 19 44). This
movement, again conveniently in three, allows the motif to be interwoven throughout in much the
same way as the second movement while the theme from the beginning measures is also developed.
Further diversity is generated through the use of

The Effects Of Psoriasis On Health Related Quality Of Life
The Effect of Psoriasis on Health Related Quality of Life
Introduction
Psoriasis is a disease that greatly affects a small amount of the population. It is estimated that about 3
5% percent of the population is diagnosed with psoriasis (Yu, 2016; Pg. 1). Psoriasis is defined as a
chronic inflammatory skin disease (Lahousen et al, 2016; Pg. 78). The disease creates, in most cases,
rough dry patches or lesions on the skin surface. Multiple sights on the body can be affected ranging
from the scalp, face, and nails (Wade et al., 2016; Pg. 1). Though the disease largely results in physical
symptoms, many patient s health related quality of life (HRQoL) is affected as well; health related
quality of life is an evaluation of how a person s health affects aspects of life, mainly focusing on
social, psychological and cognitive functions (Gonzalez et al., 2016; Pg. 2). This paper will examine
multiple literatures in order to explore the connection between a patient s health related quality of life
in regards to a diagnoses of psoriasis.
Body Many studies have been done exploring how a patient s health related quality of life is affected
by having psoriasis. HRQoL has been found to be severely affected by a patient s psoriasis (Radulski,
2013; Pg. 32). Having visible lesions on the skin can lead to self confidence problems and self image
destruction. These visible patches can sometimes result in unwelcomed reactions of others (Lahousen

Education And Social Economic Reward
We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The
more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education
we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation
between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live
happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills
that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume
that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our
world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the
rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will
be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere
else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter
is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same
opportunities either. The group in America that obtains the best education is the upper class while the
lower class students are left with lower odds of education.
One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the
conflict theory. Karl

Writers Face Censorship In Persian Letters By Montesquieu...
Writers Face Censorship Most, but not all, government and church
authorities felt they had a sacred duty to defend the old order. They

To avoid censorship, philosophes and writers like Montesquieu and

The Damned Human Race Huck Finn Analysis
Since the Moral Sense has but the one office, the one capacity to enable man to do wrong it is plainly
without value to him. It is as valueless to him as is disease... kill his neighbor with a poisonous bite. In
the essay written by Mark Twain, The Damned Human Race , Twain emphasizes the moral sense on
how the damned human race exemplifies the cruelty and the immorality of our society. Throughout the
novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain utilizes satire in order to illustrate how he
criticizes and ridicules society. Through satire, he decries society s morality, inhumanity, and
hypocrisy in order to further illustrate how he criticizes society and to emphasize how it affects a
person by influencing one s decisions and one s personality. He also emphasizes morality, inhumanity,
and hypocrisy in order to replace violence, cruelty, and ignorance to the moral sense of humanity. In
the novel, Twain utilizes morality through Huckleberry Finn s decisions in order to illustrate
Huckleberry s conscience and his moral crisis. An example of Huckleberry s morality is in page eight:

Examples Of Unfaithful In Othello
Three Unlawful Acts of Love The play Othello by William Shakespeare consists of manipulation and
tragedy, a story of love that ends in demise. Othello, a great general, finds himself at odds with the
notion that his beloved wife has been unfaithful, while Desdemona is completely innocent. He loves
her so much that the idea of her adultery drives him to murder. The ensign to the general, Iago, is
behind the rumors and the turmoil. He manipulates the trust between Othello and those who are
closest to him, even so far as suggesting the method irate Othello uses to kill his wife. However,
despite Iago being the ringleader behind the conflict and crime, Othello would be charged guilty for
first degree murder, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with a witness in a court of law. Iago would
be cleared of any homicide accusations, most likely getting a minimal charge compared to Othello.
Othello committed first degree murder by killing Desdemona. First degree murder is any unlawful
killing done with intent and premeditation, of which Othello is guilty of both. When presented with
Iago s false suspicions of cuckolding, Othello almost instantly writes off his wife as guilty. Iago plants
suspicions into his mind until Othello decides he would rather kill her than deal with a reality where
she was unfaithful. When he plans to strangle instead of poison her is the first step to first degree

The Effects Of Extracurricular Activities On College Students
As kids get into high school, most parents hope that their kids will join some kind of club or team. A
question parents might ask is, How involved should kids be in extracurricular activities or should they
even be involved at all? Extracurricular activities can be both advantageous and unpromising
depending on what the student plans on participating in and also how many activities the student plans
participating in. Many studies have been conducted trying to find the answer to those questions. One
great thing that comes along with extracurricular activities is that it looks great on college
applications. They won t know if you spend hours upon hours playing video games; they will certainly
notice a lack of notable activities on your college application (Extracurricular Activity). When
admissions offices for colleges are looking at students applications for their school, the first thing they
look at to determine if they even meet the requirements to get into that school is their grades. The next
criteria is the amount of work or activities the applicant is involved in outside of the classroom. If two
people have the same GPA and the same academic test scores, the admissions office will look at the
extracurricular activities that both of the students have participated in. The student that has done more
outside of the classroom will most likely be accepted over the student he/she was competing against.

die, right before him, O Brien allows the reader to witness the true courage needed to be a soldier.
Being courageous is what holds these men together and makes every one of these stories string
together and relate to one another. Much like soldiers, these stories build each other up and amplify
their effects together. Tim O Brien represents how people coming from different places experience the
same need to be courageous during a time of war in the fiction novel The Things They Carried by Tim
O Brien. Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carries courage. Unseemingly so, giving up someone he loves
makes him the most courageous character in The Things They Carried. Martha, the woman whom he
loves, is the most important thing back home, to him. He would imagine romantic camping trips into
the White Mountains in New Hampshire. He would sometimes taste the envelope flaps, knowing he
tongue had been there. (1). This quote explains just how much Jimmy Cross loves Martha and he
dreams about her everyday, Cross cares so much about Martha, the girl he fell in love with back at
home. After fellow soldier Ted Lavender dies while Cross is daydreaming about Martha, he makes the
honorary decision to

Self-Destruction In Hamlet
Hamlet, a tragic hero with a feigned madness seeking revenge for his deceased father, kills everyone
in his path and finally succeeded in taking vengeance for the murder of his father by killing the
murderer, Claudius for good. Hamlet s consistent desire to seek revenge for his father s murderer, led
him to foreseeable yet tragic downfall. In Hamlet, Shakespeare utilizes the acts of revenge throughout
the play to show self destruction and confliction in through characters such as Hamlet.
The theme of revenge causing self destruction is established in act two of the book by Hamlet himself.
Hamlet proclaims: O, vengeance! Why, what an ass am I! This is most brave, That I, the son of a dear
father murder d, Prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, Must, like a whore, unpack my heart
with words, And fall a cursing, like a very drab, A stallion! Fie upon t! foh! (2.2.581 587). ... Show

Whether tis nobler in the mind to the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a
sea of troubles and by opposing, end them (3.1.65 68) in those lines in the soliloquy Hamlet is
conflicted on whether or not to kill himself . He uses the word noble which means his decision is
strictly based off of what is the more morale option (which seems to be another common theme in
Hamlet). In Hamlet s self conflicting soliloquy he is also facing self destruction because his constant
suicidal thoughts. His back and forth debating on whether to end his life all stems from the inner guilt
he withholds from not taking revenge on Claudius yet. He starts to question if it is just better to kill
himself than to do his original deed and avenge his father s death, Is sicklied o er with the pale cast of
thought, and enterprises of great pith and moment with this regard their currents turn awry

Professional Learning Community A Professional Learning Community, or PLC, is a group of educators that meets regularly, shares expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students. Professional learning within communities requires continuous improvement, promotes collective responsibility, and supports alignment of individual, team, school, and school system goals. The literature on professional learning communities repeatedly gives attention to five attributes of such organizational arrangements: 1. Supportive and shared leadership, 2. Collective creativity, 3. Shared values and vision, 4. Supportive conditions, and 5. Shared personal practice. Learning communities share collective responsibility for the learning of all students within the school or school system by bringing together the entire education community, including members of the education workforce teachers, support staff, school system staff, and administrators as well as families, policy makers, and other stakeholders, to increase effective teaching in every classroom. • 4. The Strongest Man Upon the Earth Is He Who Stands Most... According to Henrik Ibsen, The strongest man upon the earth is he who stands most alone. In other words, what this quote means is that the strongest man is the most independent; individuals who do not need to rely on others to survive. Individuals who stand alone are the ones who realize the strength within themselves and become powerful characters. This quote is valid because individuals who like to take actions on their own and at their own pace become the most successful. Two works of literature that support the validity of this statement are The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger and The Color of Water, by James McBride. However, being independent made Holden realize that he has a problem and that if he would not have gone to the asylum and seeked help from professions, then he would not have been able to become a stronger and more successful individual. Ultimately, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, and The Color of Water, by James McBride, both support the validity of the quote, The strongest man upon the earth is he who stands most alone, said by author Henrik Ibsen. As life goes on, individuals will learn and realize that isolating yourself will not get you anywhere in life; it will only hurt you. You can be in control of your own destiny and you will gain perspective on your life. • 5. It s Come A Long Way From The First Draft This is the final draft of the essay. It s come a long way from the first draft. The details are present and the thread is more clear. At least to me, the writer, it is. I m proud of the elements I ve chosen and of the way I ve chosen to connect them. The use of freedom as a thread was difficult, yet the perfect challenge I needed. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my imagery within the piece. I tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished visual imagery, a little bit of touch and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed to connect two things I absolutely love (nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this world, acceptance of others, ourselves and racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking of another man. Never did I think I would be able to connect these 4 completely different ideas in such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it. I ve never been more excited about of a piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with this piece. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. • 6. Ethos Pathos Logos Disadvantages Ethos and pathos are rhetorical techniques Knopf uses to successfully deliver his argument. Knopf effectively uses ethos to prove to the reader the credibility of his piece. One way Knopf goes about doing this is he uses several creditable sources to back up his points. These sources include, Unites States Department of Agriculture, Working Group s Farm Subsidies Database, and the New York Times. By using a variety of different sources, Knopf is able to enhance his paper. Pathos is used when Knopf mentions the extra seventy calories associated with whole milk and the disadvantages that come from those extra calories. Knopf implores these extra calories are linked to heart disease and obesity (Knopf). The majority of people reading this essay might be able to relate to that quote in one way or another. The reader might know someone who is suffering from these diseases or they could potentially have the diseases. In Knopf s essay, he compares skim milk to whole milk. One cup of whole milk, according to the Web site, contains 70 more calories than a cup of skim milk (Knopf). In todays society, many people are concerned with health and weight gain. Seventy calories might seem like a large number to people who are trying to loose weight. By distinguishing between the two milks, Knopf suggests milk can be both healthy and unhealthy. Knopf also discusses how fat from whole milk is used to created other common dairy products. The Resurrection Of Christ Jesus The Resurrection of Christ Jesus according to the Apostle Paul The example in the Gospels can express many examples of resurrection which delivers a strong message In the New Testament. The term resurrection by Webster definition explains, Life, raising from the dead. The Greek defines it as, A standing up again, recovery. John 11:25 explain Jesus speaking to Martha concerning her Brother Lazarus s death. He says, I am the resurrection, (standing up again), and the life (breath), he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies. All we would need is an enormous amount of pressure. While goethite could greatly improve our soldier s safety, I think another part of the suit in the video game Black Ops 3 could help. When I looked up a picture of the suit, it seemed to have an electric glow, sort of staticky. If the suit had electric currents flowing through wires, it could help military safety greatly, because if there is enough of a charge, electricitycould warp metal, which is most likely how the bullets vaporized in Black Ops 3. While electricity can t destroy metal now, I think something along those lines will happen in the future. After all, Black Ops 3 does take place in the future. I think if armor was made out of the material found in the limpet s teeth, and had electric currents flowing through the armor, this would have reduced the casualties of U.S. soldiers substantially, because the armor would have been so strong. • 12. Importance Of Self Preservation In Hamlet The first principle of human nature is self preservation: the natural instinct to protect oneself physically and stay away from danger. In the tragedy, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Shakespeare brings new light to the idea of desire to maintain a sense of self,in a deeper more complex aspect of the term. As the play Hamlet delves into severe moral issues such as death and betrayal, Shakespeare demonstrates the importance of establishing a sense of self. The character of Ophelia is often dismissed as a flat, static character. However, through in depth analysis of her struggles and fate, Ophelia s as despair and tragedy can ultimately be traced back to one source: her lack of understanding and stability in selfhood. Throughout the play, it is clear that self preservation plays a critical role in protecting one s identity and values when individuals respond to competing demands; because when the ability to chose is taken away, an individual loses the clarity and sense of purpose from selfhood. When individuals lack the ability to defend their ideas and personal preferences to others, with confidence they will lose their identity and sense of self as they allow others to control their opinions and thoughts. Ophelia s lack of confidence in herself solidifies both Laertes and Polonius into occupying a dominant role expected of men in the 16th century. Polonius assures Ophelia that her obedience is the best thing for her, and creates this illusion of himself as a crutch she needs to respond to competing demands. Subsequently, when Ophelia finds herself torn between two loyalties her love for Hamlet, and her father s expectations, Polonius sways her to compliance with his ideas. I shall obey, my lord. (I, iv, 145 )This complete obedience of her father ultimately eliminates Ophelia s self preservation that would ensure her best outcome. It is clear her father s requests of her are not out of love and concern for Ophelia but for his own issues of vanity and securing his status. This can be seen in misalignments in Polonius claims, and the condescension in his words to Ophelia. As Laertes prepares to leave, Polonius grants him with advice, This above all: to thine own self be true. (I, iii, 84). He contradicts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In retaliation of the U.S. resupplying Israeli military, Arab members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) initiated an embargo against the United States and other countries that supported Israel. This embargo banned petroleum exports to certain countries, introduced cuts in oil production, and had a drastic effect on the U.S. economy (Oil Embargo, 1973 1974). It led to quadrupling oil prices and oil shortages that led to a widespread crisis across the United States and other countries facing the embargo. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran has been considered the most significant, lasting effect of the Arab Oil Embargo. However, these changes were much less direct than those in the energy sector. Even though the embargo led to the United States allying with Saudi Arabia when they had previously been enemies, it can be argued that the embargo was not a direct cause of this shifting alliance (Myre). Furthermore, the fact that the United States is now rivals with Iran is more the result of the overthrow of the shah, who was effectively a puppet of the United States, than a consequence of the embargo itself (Myre). While, the effects of these changing dynamics are still seen today and are undoubtedly significant, the relationship between the embargo and the changing U.S. energy sector and policy is much more visible and direct. What s more, the argument that the embargo most influenced U.S. energy is backed with an abundance of evidence, while the evidence suggesting the changing international relations resulted from the embargo is shaky and tentative at best. In this case there was a system in place for the employee where the manager took responsibility and covered the shift; however there was no system in place for the manager. After 100 years of the industrialization era modern economics began to see a change and shift of ideas. Keynes also wrote other titles as well as ‘A Tract on Monetary Reform (1923) which was an attempt to secure a monetary policy instead of the gold standard. Michael Tugan Baranowsky s development was later an important part of Keynes s analysis. He said that the imbalance between savings and investments were at the heart of the business cycle. He said that the imbalance could not be overcome by changes in the interest rates, as he argued that there were reasons than the interest rate that motivated people to save. An even more important breakthrough was made by a Swedish economist. It is easily said that playing basketball my senior year of high school was my least favorite season. The season was my least favorite, not because of my teammates, but due to the head coach. He only designed plays to showcase our point guard, who is the person that calls the plays that we run on the court. He also had the coaching style where things were either his way or you did not play. For instance, if someone, other than our point guard, were to receive a pass and was wide open for a shot, he would yell at them because they were not meant to shoot the ball in that play. However, in the other coaches and players eyes it would seem pointless for them to not take the chance and shoot the ball, especially if they are wide open. Teachers normally would not assign young adult (Keller 3) books for a summer read because they do not stretch your mind as much as other books ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Beethoven Symphony Essay Tyler Martin Advanced Orchestration Symphony no. 5 in C minor Beethoven s intent behind this piece is creating diversity out of unity. The unifying idea of the work is a series of three short notes followed by one long note. The diversity of the simple unifying idea therein is generated by the use of timbral development techniques and expansion of the orchestra; however, there are several performance practices and technical issues that impact the work s total realization. The score referenced throughout this essay is the Kalmus Miniature Orchestra Scores version. Beethoven takes his initial motif, which is quite simple, and fleshes it out via timbral orchestration. Throughout each movement, he carefully places developmental and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first appearance of the full original motif is in measure fourteen, made of three eighth notes and an agogically emphasized eighth on the downbeat of the next measure. This particular rendition is used throughout this movement to hold bring sections of it together on a macro level (mm. 21, 23, 30, 79 85, etc.). Various instruments throughout the movement also adapt three short notes as pick notes or as set up sections for a string of lesser articulated notes(mm. 15 Violins, 76 77 Violin II and Viola, etc.). For the first time in music history, movement three sees the emancipation of the low strings. The introductory statement of the movement is not made with violin, high wind, or even viola; it is made with the celli and basses. The two instruments lend a sort of dark cast to the line that sounds anticipating, almost in a foreboding sense. The anticipation is met with the original motif at measure nineteen played by horns and accompanied by strings, which is then texturally expanded into the entire orchestra, much like it has been at time in the previous two movements (mm. 19 44). This movement, again conveniently in three, allows the motif to be interwoven throughout in much the same way as the second movement while the theme from the beginning measures is also developed. Further diversity is generated through the use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a significant amount of information that needs to be covered this week, so let s get started. First, let me explain how I envision my company being organized. For those of you that don t remember, my company s name is Second Defense, and it s a company that provides helicopter air support to local law enforcement agencies that don t have the manning/money/other resources to operate an air support unit within their department. For Second Defense, I am focusing mostly on the Albuquerque New Mexico area, since it is an area within law enforcement that I am very familiar. The second application that is needed for my company to function efficiently is supply chain systems. Again, this application is primarily used to ensure that the parts for the helicopter arrive when needed. I see the Administration branch handling all or most of the enterprise applications within Second Defense. Unlike the Administration branch, the Support branch is responsible for the business ... According to Edward said, Said s book Orientalism (1978) is considered the foundational work on which post colonial theory developed. Said, then, could be considered the father of postcolonialism. • 35. Education And Social Economic Reward We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same opportunities either. The group in America that obtains the best education is the upper class while the lower class students are left with lower odds of education. One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the conflict theory. Karl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Writers Face Censorship In Persian Letters By Montesquieu... Writers Face Censorship Most, but not all, government and church authorities felt they had a sacred duty to defend the old order. They believed that God had set up the old order. To protect against the attacks of the Enlightenment, they waged a war of censorship, or restricting access to ideas and information. They banned and burned books and imprisoned writers. To avoid censorship, philosophes and writers like Montesquieu and Voltaire sometimes disguised their ideas in works of fiction. In the Persian Letters, Montesquieu used two fictional Persian travelers, named Usbek and Rica, to mock French society. It is as valueless to him as is disease... kill his neighbor with a poisonous bite. In the essay written by Mark Twain, The Damned Human Race , Twain emphasizes the moral sense on how the damned human race exemplifies the cruelty and the immorality of our society. Throughout the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain utilizes satire in order to illustrate how he criticizes and ridicules society. Through satire, he decries society s morality, inhumanity, and hypocrisy in order to further illustrate how he criticizes society and to emphasize how it affects a person by influencing one s decisions and one s personality. He also emphasizes morality, inhumanity, and hypocrisy in order to replace violence, cruelty, and ignorance to the moral sense of humanity. In the novel, Twain utilizes morality through Huckleberry Finn s decisions in order to illustrate Huckleberry s conscience and his moral crisis. • 39. Examples Of Unfaithful In Othello Three Unlawful Acts of Love The play Othello by William Shakespeare consists of manipulation and tragedy, a story of love that ends in demise. Othello, a great general, finds himself at odds with the notion that his beloved wife has been unfaithful, while Desdemona is completely innocent. He loves her so much that the idea of her adultery drives him to murder. The ensign to the general, Iago, is behind the rumors and the turmoil. He manipulates the trust between Othello and those who are closest to him, even so far as suggesting the method irate Othello uses to kill his wife. However, despite Iago being the ringleader behind the conflict and crime, Othello would be charged guilty for first degree murder, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with a witness in a court of law. Iago would be cleared of any homicide accusations, most likely getting a minimal charge compared to Othello. Othello committed first degree murder by killing Desdemona. First degree murder is any unlawful killing done with intent and premeditation, of which Othello is guilty of both. When presented with Iago s false suspicions of cuckolding, Othello almost instantly writes off his wife as guilty. Iago plants suspicions into his mind until Othello decides he would rather kill her than deal with a reality where she was unfaithful. When he plans to strangle instead of poison her is the first step to first degree murder, as there is aforethought behind the deed. It is notable that Iago did not suggest ... A question parents might ask is, How involved should kids be in extracurricular activities or should they even be involved at all? Extracurricular activities can be both advantageous and unpromising depending on what the student plans on participating in and also how many activities the student plans participating in. They won t know if you spend hours upon hours playing video games; they will certainly notice a lack of notable activities on your college application (Extracurricular Activity). When admissions offices for colleges are looking at students applications for their school, the first thing they look at to determine if they even meet the requirements to get into that school is their grades. The next criteria is the amount of work or activities the applicant is involved in outside of the classroom. If two people have the same GPA and the same academic test scores, the admissions office will look at the extracurricular activities that both of the students have participated in. • 41. The Things They Carried Courage Analysis The Things They Carried, a fiction novel by Tim O Brien, carries courage throughout the stories he tells by describing what it takes to be a soldier in Vietnam. Through burning the pictures and letters from a loved one, to seeing a friend s remains in a tree, and carrying on despite witnessing a friend die, right before him, O Brien allows the reader to witness the true courage needed to be a soldier. Being courageous is what holds these men together and makes every one of these stories string together and relate to one another. Much like soldiers, these stories build each other up and amplify their effects together. Tim O Brien represents how people coming from different places experience the same need to be courageous during a time of war in the fiction novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien.
