Theme Of Deceit In The Odyssey
Leading themes in The Odyssey include humility, perseverance, and deceit. Deceit guides some of
the characters actions, and it also moves the story forward. The poem showcases deception as a
common tool among both the antagonists and the protagonists. Each group utilizes their wits with
various intentions ranging from maintaining fidelity, self preservation, and murder. Their lies and
illusions usually solve their problems and allow them to help others. For example, Odysseus s
deceptions help him defeat adversaries and also help him return home. He and other characters
deploy duplicity to achieve better ends, and that shows that duplicity in the poem is not always
negative. Furthermore, the deceiving actions of the characters also reveal that skills in deceit are
valuable and critical to the tale, and that the original storytellers respected those skills. The Ancient
Greeks valued the ability to deceive as evidenced by The Odysseythrough the depiction of certain
characters such as Penelope, Odysseus, Athena, and Hermes. By the poem s telling of Penelope
s story, it shows that people end up respecting skills in deceit and cleverness. Penelope s story
goes as follows: she resorts to deceit in order to remain faithful to her husband. No one in the
poem disapproves of her deceitful actions except the people she dupes. Afterward, readers
remember Penelope for her unwavering fidelity, and also for her tricks to keep it. The first trick
readers encounter involves Penelope

Factors In Charles Duhigg s The Power Of Habits
Habits are choices that people continue to make repeatedly without consciously thinking about
them. They start as decisions, but eventually become an autonomic process. Habits are very useful
tools if known how to construct properly, however, they can also be destructive. It is crucial to
understand how they work and the components behind them in order to overcome the destructive
habits. A common misconception about habits is that in order for one to change their habit,
willpower is the most important component. Many people try to change their habits and often fail.
The main reason they fail is because they believe that changing habits relies only on willpower the
control exerted to do something or restrain impulses without understanding the nature of how
habits work. In Charles Duhigg s The Power of Habit, he explains how habits work and what
components must be understood in order to overcome bad habits effectively. Although willpower
relates to habit change, the most important and effective components of changing habits include
the habit loop, craving, and routine. Charles Duhigg counters the misconception of willpower by
explaining that habits can be changed with the knowledge of how the habit loop works. Duhigg
states that by understanding what habits are and how they exist in daily life, it will be easier to
focus on certain places where habits can be changed most effectively. According to The Power of
Habit, a habit has three steps. First there is a cue, which is a

Health Care Reflection
The patient I cared for today, was admitted into the NICU on October 17th. He was experiencing
respiratory distress, has breathed (aspirated) meconium into the lungs around the time of birth. The
neonate had stabilized, so the nurse and I were preparing for the family to discharge from the
hospital. The immediate needs that were verbalized by the patient were hunger cries and soiled
diaper/ angry cries. Immediate needs from the family were instruction on how much formula to feed
the baby and circumcision care once discharged home. During my clinical experience, the patient
experienced pain from the circumcision process. The healthcare team members alleviated the
physical suffering by administrating lidocaine pain medication and giving the baby sugar water. I
think the only improvement that I would make to these interventions would be to administer the
lidocaine earlier so that it could be more effective in the patient s pain management. Long term
needs for the patient were speech therapy in order to improve the baby s feeding technique,
infection prevention, and teaching measures for the parents. The needs could be met through
referral to a speech therapist upon discharge from the hospital, teaching family members proper
handwashing, and educating parents on subject matters.
The healthcare team interacted with the patient and family in an excellent fashion. They utilized
the teach back method when educating parents about infant care, used compassionate care, and used

Racial Diversity Awareness
The first time I was exposed to racial diversity awareness, I was seven years old. The earliest
years of my life were spent growing up in Philadelphia, a city well known for its diversity. All of
that changed though, when my family moved to a much smaller city, and lived in a much smaller
town. For the first time in my young life, I realized that there were places that lacked diversity,
particularly racial diversity. And with that lack of ethnic diversity, prejudice and negative
stereotypes were an everyday occurrence. It was quite different from the brotherly love mentality of
Philadelphia. From third grade and through middle school, I struggled to fit into an exclusive
environment.
Through my experiences, I learned lessons that could not

Should Laptops Be Allowed In Schools
Laptops and computers have always made learning easier but will they make learning easier for
students in school? Some schools are now using laptops instead of textbooks for their students.
Schools should be using laptops instead of textbooks because laptops have many benefits over
using textbooks. Laptops and computers are being used for students in schoolto make learning
easier. Students may now carry Laptops instead of heavy textbooks. There are much cheaper
options now than before. Since 2011 Google has offered small Laptops called chromebooks that
cost much less than a traditional Laptop. The chromebooks also offer software from Google that
can be used for school work. Students can write docs or make slides for a presentation and it is
all at no cost. Other Laptops may be required to purchase the software or purchase a license just to
use the software. In 2016 researcher Mark Warschauer reported that students participating in K 12

Laptops can cost money and the schools would have to pay. Laptops at retail price could cost about
$300. If a Laptop breaks the school would have to pay to repair it and the school would also have to
get a replaced for the student. Textbooks are much more durable and may outlast a traditional
Laptop. A Laptop may also be used by a student to cheat on homework or on a quiz. This can lead
to many problems because if the student has access to all the answers he or she will not learn.
They will just look up everything on the Laptop. This can all be prevented by monitoring what the
student searches and how long they are on a website for. The school could also limit or block what
websites the students can access. This would prevent a student getting on or downloading
inappropriate files from the internet. Students should have Laptops at school but they should be
limited. They should only be able to get on the things that they would use for homework or for

My Year Is My First Year Of College
Last year was my first year of college. Freshmen year as a transition for me from High School to
College, I don t think I did well in adjusting to college life. I m regretting lots thing I could have
done, but I didn t. I wish I could be like other ordinary students live in the dorm, they have more
opportunities to involve school s activity, and more chances to get to know more people. As a
freshman in college, I was scared about failing my classes so I tried my best to work on every
assignment in order to have a good grade. However I still had all kinds of new experiences, like
driving by myself to school, a new kind of teaching system and meeting new friends. I had many
interesting assignments from all my class, but my English 10M class was the class that helped me
improve on my writing. In my English 10M class we had many essayassignments and we were
required to do at least three drafts before turning it in. We also had a chance to do peer review
and get feedback from professors, which helped a lot for me to understand where I made mistakes
and what I needed to work on. After taking an English 10M class, I had unforgettable essay
experiences and I learned a lot from it.
The narcissism essay had a lot of requirements. The essay was for my English 10M class, and for
the assignment, we had to argue about whether narcissism is good or bad. To do this, we used
information from our assigned reading as well as our own experiences and opinions. So we needed

Voter Registration Essay
Voter registration is a simple process of enrollment that grants permission to vote in elections.
Voting is a right by the United States citizen, which is not exercised by many people. For this
reason, the United States lacks representation by its people in where the citizens have the power to
make a difference and are actually hurting what the United States stand for. The people have the
potential to determine the fate of the country. Reasons for an individual not registering are not well
informed, lack of interest in politics, and believe their vote does not count due to the Electoral
College. However, when researching if votingis important, many reasons are presented on the
significance and the impact a vote can make. For example, it is... Show more content on

Mallinson, still fuming with animosity towards the lamasery continues to make his plea to leave.
Finally, he just leaves, but with him travels Conway, for he was fond of his friend, and his friend

Hilton s novel leaves the reader with an unsolved mystery since the mystical powers of the
slowing of the aging process remained only within the grounds of the lamasery. Conway soon
realizes this as Lo Tsen ages instantaneously, and transforms into a woman ...most old of any one I
have ever seen. From here he must navigate himself back to the safety of the placid lamasery, but
does he make it?
At this Hilton returns to the frame, in which the neurologist friend of his is trying to trace Conway
s path and find this sacred civilization. The tale was only revealed since he found Conway during
his escape from the lamasery, and had him write the manuscript dictating his story.
Fictional characters fall loosely into two categories: types and individuals. A type character being

person in his own right. The more complex, developing and maturing qualities of an individual
character as he evolves denotes the role of the Hilton s main character, Hugh Conway. Conway s
facets develop amazingly throughout the story. This is do to standards of the fictional society he

Dyeing Studies of Wool Fibers with Madder
In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Also, the effect of
different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper
(I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely
pre , meta and post mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated.
The adsorptionisotherm of madder on woolfibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption.
The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation
to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color
characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and
unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium
dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity
compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the
lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed
the minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties
indicated that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the
unmordanted one.
Key words: wool, madder, mordant, fastness properties, natural dye.

Sigmund Freud s Civilization And Its Discontents
Sigmund Freud, in his book Civilization and Its Discontents, contests that humans are subject to
savage, animalistic instincts. He opposes the Marxist value that humans are superior to their animal
counterparts, rather, he holds, humans are quite like wolves to each other. With this claim, he
explores how internal compositions work in the grand scheme, to create a working mechanism of
society that tames and creates internal negotiations of behaviour and instinct. (also include what
comes of the last question) Freud, a psychologist, had views that were at odds with Marxist values,
derived from a philosopher and economist. Their views on what drives human nature are
fundamentally different. Freud adhered to the belief that humans are enslaved by their instinctive
forces. This is to say that humans are driven to seek out pleasure. Marx, on the other hand, believed
that humans are motivated by their place in society through labour. His core value was the division
of labor, and how it structures society. Freud understood man in a Darwinian sense, that man comes
from natural selection, in the sense that Darwin insisted on its [homo sapiens] kinship with lesser
cousins and observed that the stamp of [its] lowly origin was quite ineffaceable (12). This contrasts
with the Marxist assumption that humans are different from animals, the belief in human
exceptionalism. Under this presumption, Marx finds that abuse and violence occurs in consequence
to disproportionate distributions

In George Orwell s Essay Such, Such Were The Joys
Throughout George Orwell s essay, Such, Such were the Joys, the poor class in society is
represented as incompetent and undeserving of joy and success. Instead they earn and deserve
beatings physically and mentally. The poor class is represented this way to show how money
appears to buy success and happiness through Orwell s implying the Joys and privileges that the

The underlying cause of this treatment is essentially because money pays for life s comforts.
Above all the poor class shouldn t have to be beaten or looked down upon even if they don t
have the money to pay for life necessities, like an education specifically in Orwell s case. Even
though money and the lack of it were the main themes in Orwell s essay joy is something else
that is important to consider especially because that s what Orwell called this essay. Orwell
explained how everything was working against him because he had no wealth. He never
mentioned the greater joy that the elite class had and he kept it surreptitious. This is because joy

The Culture Of The Minoan Art
The Minoan civilization were forerunners of the ancient Greeks and they were a successful
resourceful society. Living on the island of Crete, the Minoans livelihood depended on the sea,
agriculture, and trading. The bravery and the agility of bull leaping plays an integral part in the
Minoan culture and the bull is also reflective throughout their art. Additionally, religion also played
an important role in the Minoan culture and this was evident in their artistic creations. Actually, the
Minoan art communicates a society of high spirited people, who adapted well to their surrounding
environment. As a matter of fact, the Minoans were remarkable engineers, building complex
structures like the palace at Knossoswith dozens of rooms and corridors centered around a central
courtyard, without protective walls. More importantly, the Minoans were known for their wet
frescoes, the application of painting colored tints on the interior plastered walls of the palace. This
type of Minoan fresco presents a three dimensional effect, like elegant forms represented in an
impressionistic manner. Painting under the time constraints of the drying plaster, allowed for
inventiveness, freedom, and graceful lines, which was new to the art. More often than not, the
paintings were tailored into a frame of geometric shapes. The frescoes showed how the Minoans
viewed the world, their cultural beliefs, rituals, artistic beauty, elegance, physical gracefulness, and
how they lived in harmony

Comparing Two Views On Creation And God
A.) Two world views on creation were discussed by Lennox between the Israelites and the
neighbors of the Israelites. The first being, the Israelites believed that God created the world out of
nothing yet the neighbors of the Israelites believed that their gods created the world out of
materials that were already present. Israel believed Godmade humanity with purpose, great design,
and good, whereas Israel s neighbors thought that the gods created humanity as an afterthought,
with little purpose, and humans were made from the bad blood of an evil god, so they were not
good. Lastly, Israelites believed that God created the world to sustain on it s own, to continue to
grow from itself and thrive, yet their neighbors believed that after all of

My First Day Of College Essay
My first day of college was kind of a blur but it was most certainly a very important one. I spent
my first semester of college at Central Michigan University, I arrived on the Friday before classes
started which is commonly known as Welcome Weekend around campus. Coming into it I really
didn t know what to expect from college, I was really nervous about meeting my roommates and
having to communicate with them. I had been friends with the same 6 people for the past 5
years and moving on into a new environment where I knew no one was pretty daunting. I live in
Livonia Michigan it s about 20 minutes out from Detroit, CMU is in Mount Pleasant just over 2
hours away. I was so sad to leave my friends that day I basically slept the whole way to Mount
Pleasant just so I wouldn t cry. When I arrived my parents and I along with some help from the
student volunteers unpacked my aunts minivan and moved into my home for next 9 months. I
was the first to arrive so I obviously chose the biggest room, I stayed in Trout hall on the north
side of campus. The way they had it set was 4 roommates in one dorm, each dorm had 2 bed rooms
and 1 bathroom as well as a common room. Different dorm halls had different rooming methods
but the one Trout used was pretty common on campus. Once I was all moved in and unpacked my
parents went out to grab me some groceries, I used this time to catch up with my friend Nick....

Cause and Effect Essay
Child violence is a topic which has exposed itself tremendously with both causes and effects;
causes being, poor parenting, environment and exposure, and effects including depression,
difficulties in school and criminal behavior. Most people try not to address poor parenting
because it can be a very sensitive topic but, it is very important and lack of conversation or
teaching can become an issue. We have all been somewhere and witness a child misbehaving and
the parent not reprimanding their child. We have also heard stories of how a child may be being
abused or witnessing abuse by a parent, guardian or loved one. A child being bullied or rough
housing with siblings may also become an issue. Cursing and fighting around a child can... Show

This could lead to many lifelong problems; such as not continuing school, no job, poverty and
ending in depression. Depression and anxiety are two distinct effects of child violence. Often
times when a child has grown up witnessing or experiencing violence it affects them for a
longtime; sometimes even into adulthood. Sometimes this affects a person socially; they may
fine that they are often alone and do not feel like they fit in. Which in some causes can lead to
depression. Children that grow up with violence also often deal with anxiety; they usually feel as
though they are on edge and never really know what to expect from people or situations, which
may also cause them to behave poorly. Criminal behavior can be categorized as another effect of
child violence. A great deal of criminals, offenders or even people with some kind of criminal
history are known to have been affected by violence or a child. Some of them have come from
abusive environments, poor living and social environment, and not being taught well. As stated
previously, being abused or witnessing abuses can cause a child to be violent, because it can be a
learned habit. Not being taught well goes back to the parents. Some parents just do not discipline
well. They may either be too firm or too lenient. Children that do not suffer consequences for poor
behavior may feel they will never receive punishment and when they finally do it may be too late.
Child violence has many different

Design A Task For A Grade Classroom
For our GeoGebra lesson, Ashley and I decided to design a task for a 1st grade classroom. This
1st grade lesson required students to partition circles, and possibly rectangles, into halves and
fourths using the idea of fair sharing with the tools provided by GeoGebra. We went with this idea
assuming that students have had previous experiences with GeoGebra and with fair sharing,
perhaps with friends or siblings for example. We divided up the work evenly and worked on our
sections on our own, asking for help if needed. This assignment provided me the opportunities to
practice implementing the mathematical teachingmethods I have been learningabout in my classes,
work with a fellow classmate that has had more experience in the classroom, and work on what it
may look like to develop a mathematical task that is centered on a piece of technology like
GeoGebra. A practice all teachers should rehearse, prepare for, and become masters at is quality
questioning. When writing our lessonplan, we were prompted to think of questions that would allow
for extension, check for understanding, provide differentiation, lead students in developing an
understanding of the key ideas included in the lesson, guide students through the lesson by
scaffolding their learning, and help to clear up misconceptions that existed. As one can see,
planning for the types of questions to ask and anticipating the types of responses that would come
in turn, encompassed a large portion of our prepping our

It Happened One Night Film Techniques
In the 1934 film, It Happened One Night directed by Frank Capra, follows two characters Ellie
Andrews, played by Claudette Colbert, and Peter Warne, played by Clark Gable. Ellie is trying to
escape her overbearing father and escape a life of unhappiness. This romantic screwball film joins
two opposite characters from two different economic backgrounds. Screwball comedies often
display irreverent humor, clever dialogue, subtitle humor and an odd element of historical relevancy
in the time they were most popular. In It Happened One Night, the common screwball comedy
elements were displayed in the first nine minutes to establish the characters, the economic and

The screwball comedic element of this introduction to Peter is that when he is quitting his job
over the phone he is drunk with a group of friends around him. When he is talking to his boss he
is acting like he is the boss and controls the conversation to make himself look good. Through the
other side of the phone his boss has already fired him and hung up but to avoid embarrassment,
Peter acts like he is still on the phone with his boss and quits . This classic screwball scene is
entertaining to the viewers as the audience knows what is going on but his friends do not which
makes it an odd and humorous situation. These characters come from opposite social and
economic classes which makes it seem as though they would never cross paths or get along. There
affection for one another is formed through the journey these two strangers share with one another
and this develops their relationship and attitudes towards each other over time. Through the course
of the film, these characters show a sense of disheartenment and lack of caring towards one
another but their opposites are brought together and their views are changed through screwball
comedic elements. The first nine minutes of this film develops the tone of the rest of the film and
how these two very opposite characters meet. Ellie escapes her father by jumping off the boat and

Economic Development Office For The State Of Texas
The summer of 2014, I interned at the Economic Development Office for the state of Texas. The
office was tasked with preparing relocation incentives for companies in order to create jobs. The
office was split into different departments totaling about 45 people. The office worked strictly under
the Governor. One would answer the phone, Office of the Governor, Economic Development...
Economic Development offices around the country came under repetitive criticism for behaving
as governors slush funds. Essentially there are clear lines of imperative control from superior
offices. The office was responsible for overseeing the economic development of the whole state.
In other ways, the office directly contrasted Weber s definition. Since the office was able to
distribute funds and abate taxes, it made incredible financial decisions for companies and the
taxpayers of the state. Awards could not be given out based on a specific set of rules. There was
careful consideration into a companies intentions, how they were prepared for the future, and if
they fit the new model of businesses Texas wanted to attract. In this regard, the office did not
always make systematic decisions. Those promoted were the best performing, most ambitious, and
took initiative; only residue of a seniority system remained. A meritocracy, in direct opposition to a
tenured hierarchy, opened a dichotomy between the older and younger generations. Under
performers were let go regardless of tenure. On a

time these flaws presented themselves through high taxes, debt, and unenforceable laws across state

Why Do School Books Should Be Banned From Schools
Books are an essential to both school and after school life. They are the messages that have shaped
our country. Unfortunately, many books have been banned from school libraries all across the
United States for their messages or the themes they possess. While these books could be read out
of school hours, they have been banned from schoollibraries or reading centers. While there are
some aspects I do not agree with, I do, however, believe this is a good policy because it preserves
the innocent minds of readers from inappropriate or unsuitable content.
As a child, I have enjoyed Disney s rendition of Alice in Wonderland. But as I read Lewis Carroll

preferred not to have known. According to The University of Tulsa, I found out that,... The most

How To Build A Traffic Jam Essay
When we start talking about traffic, the first thing that comes to our mind is road rage;
however, it would surprise you how people stay cool in this type of chaos. Gridlocks are the
nightmare for any driver. I have been driving for eight years, and I have had the opportunity to
see different types of behaviors in a traffic jam. It is surprisingly amazing how traffic jams can
bring out the worst and the best of you. Throughout my driving life, I had been stuck in heavy
traffic that lasted more than four hours, and light traffic that only lasted less than forty five minutes.
However, sitting in traffic gave me the opportunity to categorize driver s behavior such as the ass

I totally have seen some drivers acting like a monk in traffic. The monk drivers tend not to feel
desperate, and usually they distract themselves with other activities. For example, my cousin used
to drive from Woodbridge to Alexandria when she studied at NOVA. Sometimes she used to get
stuck in rush hour traffic, and she used to read her lecture in the traffic. To be honest, I totally see
that as a smart way to spend time in traffic. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk
driver is catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to
call my grandmother. We spent two hours talking which helped me to get distracted. In hindsight
it does sound dangerous to talk on the phone while driving, but this time any car wasn t moving a
bit. Also, Monk drivers prepare a playlist before getting out from home. Listening to your favorite
music can give you a sense of tranquility. In fact, monk drivers practice a lot of equanimity, which
is a mental calmness. Overall, drivers in general should take the traffic jam with a sense of
equanimity, so they can find moments of tranquility in a chaotic traffic jam.
Moreover, we have the snoopy drivers. Being sneaky is a horrible habit that some people tend to
develop in life. As we know sneakiness is really different from curiosity. Being curious is the act to
get harmless information that can actually satisfy our knowledge. However, being sneaky is to be

other four guideline of individual authority, mental models, building shared vision and group

2.How are each of these disciplines related to each other?
When all the five orders are consolidated and honed in an association then that association changes
itself from a conventional association to a learning association. A framework thinking approach
concentrates on enhancing the mentality of people to concentrate on accomplishing long haul
objectives which are essentials to the association than to actualize short term objectives which
acquire impermanent benefits. This general advancement in frameworks considering an individual
is built up when the association concentrates on the other four orders (Cropper, 2012).
At the point when an individual spotlights on enhancing himself, he achieves a level of individual
dominance, in this procedure he changes his disposition to take in new things and create from
inside his internal viewpoints. At the point when internal improvement is accomplished through
individual dominance, he wipes out the lack of awareness and enhances his mental models. Mental
models are the path in which an singular takes a gander at things around him, when he experts
himself, he picks up certainty and can accomplish better results while interfacing with individuals at
a more individual level (Cropper, 2012).
At the point when individual authority is joined with building shared vision an association
accomplishes group learning. They figure out how to function all things considered with different
individuals from group, while making strides

Tuskegee Syphilis Trial Introduction
In 1932 the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), in conjunction with the Tuskegee Institute, of

males. According to the Center for Disease Control, the study involved 600 black men, among
whom 399 had the disease, and 201 did not, but were used as controls. Participants were under the
impression that they were being treated for bad blood , which was how researchers described their

As a nurse, she had an obligation to provide the best medical care for the sick, while minimizing
all potential harms, but her participation in the study gained her the reputation of a nurse who
betrayed her profession. From another point of view, Nurse Rivers has also been as much of a
victim as the participants of the study, due to both gender and race. In a patriarchal society
dominated by whites, to an extent, she was powerless. There would have been dire
consequences for a negro, especially a woman to challenge the doctor with whom she worked.
According the Darlene Clark Hines, the doctor not only worked for the government, but was
also a white male, which made him superior by virtue of race and gender. As a loyal employee,
Nurse River always did as she was told, and knew that a nurse should not question orders given
by doctors. Nurse Rivers was described as an upwardly mobile woman, who had adopted the
values and attitudes of middle class culture, which suggests that class identity shaped her
professional life. At the time, it was difficult to find a job, given the great economic depression
in America. Moreover, having lost her job with the Alabama State health department, Nurse
Rivers was more than happy work as a public health nurse. Through hard work, she achieved her
goal of entering the middle class arena and having a job helped her to maintain her position. It
was crucial as a black nurse struggling for a place in a profession dominated by whites, to
cooperate with her superiors. Similarly, by forging relations with her white colleagues, she
improved her status as a black professional working in the world of white medicine. Clearly, hard
times, economic austerity and upward mobility were influential factors, and as stated by James

God created man in His own image. Some traces of God s characteristics can be seen in mankind
such as love, kindness, compassion and justice.
Humanity
The Bible says that man, made in the image of God, is also spirit. It is man s spirit that
communes with the Holy Spirit. God also gave man a free will which allows man to love God
willingly. Man created in the image of God has remnants of his character which includes the
capability to love, a reason of a high level, and communicate with God. Man was also created
with a sense of justice and morality. However, sin also resides in our nature and led to the fall of
Adam and Eve.
The purpose of man is to praise and worship God, proclaim his glory, and to accomplish his will.
... And whom I have created for My glory, ... (Isaiah 43:7 New International Version). God
created all things in harmony. He established a perfect creation that he loves and over which he
rules. The highest honor is given to mankind as the only part of creation made in God s image.
Humanity was created to love as God loves, to worship and praise his glory and commune with
him as he does with us.
However, much of humanity is overly concerned with their own self serving, self centered agenda
which is a form of idolatry. Many individuals worship whatever their life is ordered around, failing
to see it in the light of the glory of God. Humanity relentlessly departs from the path God had
intended for them. True

One, two, three, four, five, six... My mind wandered off as I counted, thinking again about the
forest, and the vibes it always gave anyone who went near. Once I hit thirty, I headed off into the
evergreen jungle that held my brother.
As I tromped through the thick woods, I got the same warmth radiating from the forest. The
sunlight danced, even through the still pine needles above me. I listened, hoping to hear a crunch
of a twig, or rolling of pebbles beneath Adam s feet. Nothing. I stopped and waited, listening.
Still listening, again nothing. Adam! Adam where are you!?! I called into the forest. My voice
echoed of of the thick trunks of the trees. The feeling of panic spread throughout me. I quickened
my pace, anxious to find Adam. After walking for a few minutes, I realized I had wandered farther
than I ever had before. I spun around, trying to remember what direction I had come from. After
debating with myself, I decided to head back downhill. Slowly going along, trying to decided if I
was going the right direction, I heard a low sobbing. My first thoughts jumping to Adam, I
screamed his name. With no response, I quickened my pace. I spun around and there it

Are Gendered Toys Bad For Boys And Girls Essay
Gender is the personal traits and social positions that members of a society attach to being
female of male. Are Gendered Toys Bad for Boys and Girls? is the question asked with in the
podcast. So in this essay it will discuss the opinion in the podcast vs. the fact of the sociological
perspective in the book.
The podcast talks about how the creation of toys such as lego and according to lego girls like
pink and purple, like baking, being a hair stylist, etc. lego gives their opinion as to what a girl
and boy play with want to be and will experience. This means that the boy is more of a dominant
quality in other words with in the podcast. The book talks about how in other countries girls are
more of a dominant quality compared to men. They also say that there is a third gender in other
countries so what do the third gender like to play with, and to say what girls and boys like based

The gender and inequality reflect the cultural patterns of time and place. As said when comparing
gender from around the world different societies see and think diferent things when it comes to
gender and the role of gender. Gender in the united states compared to arapesh is very different.
For example, in the arapesh culture both sexes were considered selfish and aggressive, traits that
are defined as masculine. Then, some countries refer to male and female as reverse compared to the
united states notion, so no matter what society is thought to be along with the thought of the toys
in the podcast gender cannot be defined by sex because of the different meanings and different
cultures and societies have different perspectives of what both gender and sex means. Gender
toys are both bad and good for boys and girls. It is good when knowing your role in society, but it is
not good when it effects who has power and wealth in

Symbols In Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet On The Western...
Erich Maria Remarque does a REMARQUEable job placing symbols throughout, one particular
one is the usage of butterflies, in his already powerful text, of All Quiet on the Western Front. In
the middle of waiting for the next bombardment, Paul sees two butterflies play in front of our
trench. (127). Of course, after witnessing their arrival, all Paul can think is What can they be
looking for here? (127). These flying flutterers of fragility are depicted generally as pretty, and
lovely, but in the book they appear in the middle of a chaotic chapter. Not only are the little
frivolously flapping floaters seen playing, they are seen playing in the vastness of nothing, and
finally land on nothing else, but a soldier s remnants. The butterflies

Compare And Contrast Sixteen Candles And Ferris Bueller s...
1.After viewing both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller s Day Off I would have to choose
Sixteen Candles to be my favorite of the two. My reasoning is because I feel the storyline and
characters were developed better, allowing the audience to feel a greater connection with the film.
When comparing the two films, Sixteen Candles comes across as more angst driven, with a strong
female lead. Ferris Bueller s Day Off has an obvious strong male lead character, with more humor
obvious throughout the film. The overall tone of Sixteen Candles is less upbeat than Ferris Bueller.
As the main character Samantha is struggling throughout the film with the acceptance of her family
forgetting her birthday, Ferris Bueller has no care in the world and refuses to be defeated. The
relationships in Ferris Bueller s Day Off are mainly friend to friend and student to authority. Sixteen
Candles depicts a more romantic aspect, with a love story being the main focus throughout.
2.Out of both of these films the one I find that strays mostly from John Hughes other teenage films
in Ferris Bueller s Day Off. Sixteen Candles, I found to be fitting with the other films because it
has a strong female lead, teen angst, and a major love story component. For example, Samantha
and Jake at the end of the film kissing in the candle light. A dramatic end scene kiss has been
depicted in Pretty in Pink as well. Ferris Bueller s Day Off on the other hand, is something
unlike any other John Hughes film. It is witty, and fast paced, not focusing on teen angst or
romance in any aspect. There are no love triangles, or finding out whether two main characters
will end up together. It takes another point of view from teenagers about being young and
enjoying life before it catches up with you. Ferris Bueller s Day Off also a strong theme of
relationships with authority figures, which we only see in the other John Hughes film, The
Breakfast Club. An example of this in the film is between Ferris and Mr. Rooney. There is
constant conflict between them, one example is when Ferris has Cameron prank call Mr. Rooney
s office. This shows not only Ferris disrespect for authority, but Mr. Rooney s disrespect for Ferris.

The Long Tail Of Underachievement Essay
Education systems are expressly set up to help achieve quality of opportunity and outcome(APA) ,
but question is, are they? Statistic s put out by the Trends in International Mathematics and
Science Study (TIMSS) showed our 9 year olds were ranked 34th out of 53 countries effectively
bottom equal with other developing nations along with a whole lot of unforgiving data findings
(Johnston, 2015). Social inequality has a much bigger role to play in the long tail of
underachievement . It is common knowledge that in New Zealand the gap between the wealthy and
the poor has widened enormously over the past two decades (APA). To analyses this dilemma we
need to look at the defection of socioeconomic status. Max Weber formed the term socioeconomic
status (SES): An individual s or group s position within hierarchical social structure. Socioeconomic
status depends on a combination of variables, including occupation, education, income, wealth, and
place of residence (APA). I will shed some light on answering this question and to also look at
historical issues relating to socioeconomic status and New Zealand s education. I will also mention
some solutions that have put forward, to provide opportunities for all children in New Zeland.
From where it all began, the first contact with Pakeha in the late 1700s and early 1800s, was
largely on Maori terms. It is often suggested that one of the main reasons that the first European
settles came to New Zealand was to get away from

Informative Speech About Uganda
Uganda
Hello fellow United Nations members, it is an honour to be here. While the MDG s can be
considered a global success as they have enhanced the lives of many people within developing
nations, it is still important to note that there are still glaring factors in developing countries that
are holding them back. Therefore, it is important that we take note of these factors and try to work
on them in order to improve the lives of everyone within these countries. A country that I strongly
believe needs to be focused on is Uganda. Hence, in this speech, I will analyse the characteristics
that have inhibited development in line with the United Nations MDG s and address the progress of
Uganda. By the end of the speech, the recommended appropriate strategies to achieve the goals
/improve on them will be provided. It is hypothesised that although corruption and Civil War have
held Uganda back, social influences along with poverty has stopped Uganda from reaching all their
goals.
Uganda faces many problems that inhibit their development such as Civil War. As stated by
Global Security conflict and violence have plagued much of Uganda since independence (Global
Security, N.D). This is largely due to the Civil War and corruption the country faces daily. Civil
War has played a long part in Uganda s history dating back to 1962 with 14 insurgencies occurring
within the country since 1971. The Civil War dramatically worsened when Joseph Kony, leader of
the Lord s resistance army (LRA)

My Paper On Is Educational Psychology
The topic pertinent to psychology that i chose to do my paper on is educational psychology.
Educational psychology is the study of how humans learn and retain knowledge, primarily in
educational settings like classrooms. This branch not only involves just the learning process of
early childhood and adolescence but it also involves the social, emotional, and cognitive learning
processes that are involved in humans throughout their entire lifespan. Educational psychology
combines numerous amounts of other branches of psychology, including: developmental
psychology, behavioral psychology, and cognitive psychology. Educational psychology
is an
approximately new subfield that has had a huge amount of growth in recent years. The four major
perspectives in educational psychology are: Behavioral perspective, developmental perspective,
cognitive perspective, and the constructivist approach. The behavioral perspective proposes that all
behaviors are learned through conditioning. An example of this would be a teacher handing out
tickets for participating in class or good behavior that can later be exchanged for candy or toys.
The developmental perspective suggest how children obtain new skills and knowledge as they
develop. An example of this is Jean Piaget s distinguished stages of cognitive development. The
cognitive perspective has become much more acclaimed in recent decades, mostly because it
suggest how things such as memories, emotions, motivations, and beliefs influence

The prescription filling process of the health maintenance organization (HMO) consists of the
doctor sending the prescription to the pharmacy via paper with the patient, paper to the nurse who
calls in the prescription with instructions, or faxing the prescription to the pharmacy. From there,
the personnel at the pharmacy fill the prescription by inputting the information given to them into
their computer in order to print the instructions and medication labels for the prescriptions. They
then pull the requested medications per the instructions, fill the necessary containers to give to the
patients, and label ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Handwriting has always been, and will remain, a problem in medicine. A 1979 study showed that it
was difficult to interpret about half of all physicians handwritten orders. Little has changed since
then, (In the long run, penmanship classes for doctors won t do much for patient safety, 2001).
This has been an ongoing problem since inception. Therefore, the beginning of the process should
be changed in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and
handheld devices by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled,
and electronically sent to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added
activity that can be eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long
term, it will save both organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service
the organization gives. With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the
patient receives the correct medicine and dosage.
After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log
of all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. These logs will
be collected monthly to measure the amount of prescriptions filled wrong to determine if the
changes are working.

Stereotypes In The Film Australia By Baz Luhrmann
Introduction:
Baz Luhrmann s Australia is a film of vibrancy that relates to Australia s rich heritage and its ethnic
diversity. The film language featured in Australia depicts the characteristics of the two most
prominent characters, Lady Ashley and Drover, through devices such as lighting and colour, and
camera work. Lighting and colour were demonstrated in this film as language devices that
illustrated the central feature of Both Drover and Ashley. Similarly, camera shots portray facets of
a scene that are emphasised to convey a message as seen with both characters throughout the
duration of the movie. Camera angles too are a part of the camera work category that can

Lighting was an essential device that conveyed the bright and natural light of both Australia and
England, in turn highlighting her innocence and flawlessness as an upper class woman. The

instructing her employee in England. The camera shots furthermore displayed the features by
multiple closeups to point out facial features and her confidence, in addition to the mid slots that
illustrated her excellent posture and clean appearance. Baz Luhrmann s masterful directing
conveyed Sarah Ashley s sophistication and grace similar to that of a wealthy woman of the late

they mixed the contents of beaker 1 and 2 together. Did they use a stirrer, mix it by shaking the
beaker in a circle or did they mix the solution at all? A strength I experienced during this

Water Shortage in Central California
Central Valley Water Shortage
1.Fresno is a city located in central California, also known as San Joaquin Valley Famously

On January 30, 1933, one of the most horrible events occurred. Everyone knows this day as the

I want to discuss this event in history. But there are also other events in history that are like The

  • 2. Theme Of Deceit In The Odyssey Leading themes in The Odyssey include humility, perseverance, and deceit. Deceit guides some of the characters actions, and it also moves the story forward. The poem showcases deception as a common tool among both the antagonists and the protagonists. Each group utilizes their wits with various intentions ranging from maintaining fidelity, self preservation, and murder. Their lies and illusions usually solve their problems and allow them to help others. For example, Odysseus s deceptions help him defeat adversaries and also help him return home. He and other characters deploy duplicity to achieve better ends, and that shows that duplicity in the poem is not always negative. Furthermore, the deceiving actions of the characters also reveal that skills in deceit are valuable and critical to the tale, and that the original storytellers respected those skills. The Ancient Greeks valued the ability to deceive as evidenced by The Odysseythrough the depiction of certain characters such as Penelope, Odysseus, Athena, and Hermes. By the poem s telling of Penelope s story, it shows that people end up respecting skills in deceit and cleverness. Penelope s story goes as follows: she resorts to deceit in order to remain faithful to her husband. No one in the poem disapproves of her deceitful actions except the people she dupes. Afterward, readers remember Penelope for her unwavering fidelity, and also for her tricks to keep it. The first trick readers encounter involves Penelope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Factors In Charles Duhigg s The Power Of Habits Habits are choices that people continue to make repeatedly without consciously thinking about them. They start as decisions, but eventually become an autonomic process. Habits are very useful tools if known how to construct properly, however, they can also be destructive. It is crucial to understand how they work and the components behind them in order to overcome the destructive habits. A common misconception about habits is that in order for one to change their habit, willpower is the most important component. Many people try to change their habits and often fail. The main reason they fail is because they believe that changing habits relies only on willpower the control exerted to do something or restrain impulses without understanding the nature of how habits work. In Charles Duhigg s The Power of Habit, he explains how habits work and what components must be understood in order to overcome bad habits effectively. Although willpower relates to habit change, the most important and effective components of changing habits include the habit loop, craving, and routine. Charles Duhigg counters the misconception of willpower by explaining that habits can be changed with the knowledge of how the habit loop works. Duhigg states that by understanding what habits are and how they exist in daily life, it will be easier to focus on certain places where habits can be changed most effectively. According to The Power of Habit, a habit has three steps. First there is a cue, which is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Health Care Reflection The patient I cared for today, was admitted into the NICU on October 17th. He was experiencing respiratory distress, has breathed (aspirated) meconium into the lungs around the time of birth. The neonate had stabilized, so the nurse and I were preparing for the family to discharge from the hospital. The immediate needs that were verbalized by the patient were hunger cries and soiled diaper/ angry cries. Immediate needs from the family were instruction on how much formula to feed the baby and circumcision care once discharged home. During my clinical experience, the patient experienced pain from the circumcision process. The healthcare team members alleviated the physical suffering by administrating lidocaine pain medication and giving the baby sugar water. I think the only improvement that I would make to these interventions would be to administer the lidocaine earlier so that it could be more effective in the patient s pain management. Long term needs for the patient were speech therapy in order to improve the baby s feeding technique, infection prevention, and teaching measures for the parents. The needs could be met through referral to a speech therapist upon discharge from the hospital, teaching family members proper handwashing, and educating parents on subject matters. The healthcare team interacted with the patient and family in an excellent fashion. They utilized the teach back method when educating parents about infant care, used compassionate care, and used open ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Racial Diversity Awareness The first time I was exposed to racial diversity awareness, I was seven years old. The earliest years of my life were spent growing up in Philadelphia, a city well known for its diversity. All of that changed though, when my family moved to a much smaller city, and lived in a much smaller town. For the first time in my young life, I realized that there were places that lacked diversity, particularly racial diversity. And with that lack of ethnic diversity, prejudice and negative stereotypes were an everyday occurrence. It was quite different from the brotherly love mentality of Philadelphia. From third grade and through middle school, I struggled to fit into an exclusive environment. Through my experiences, I learned lessons that could not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Should Laptops Be Allowed In Schools Laptops and computers have always made learning easier but will they make learning easier for students in school? Some schools are now using laptops instead of textbooks for their students. Schools should be using laptops instead of textbooks because laptops have many benefits over using textbooks. Laptops and computers are being used for students in schoolto make learning easier. Students may now carry Laptops instead of heavy textbooks. There are much cheaper options now than before. Since 2011 Google has offered small Laptops called chromebooks that cost much less than a traditional Laptop. The chromebooks also offer software from Google that can be used for school work. Students can write docs or make slides for a presentation and it is all at no cost. Other Laptops may be required to purchase the software or purchase a license just to use the software. In 2016 researcher Mark Warschauer reported that students participating in K 12 one to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Laptops can cost money and the schools would have to pay. Laptops at retail price could cost about $300. If a Laptop breaks the school would have to pay to repair it and the school would also have to get a replaced for the student. Textbooks are much more durable and may outlast a traditional Laptop. A Laptop may also be used by a student to cheat on homework or on a quiz. This can lead to many problems because if the student has access to all the answers he or she will not learn. They will just look up everything on the Laptop. This can all be prevented by monitoring what the student searches and how long they are on a website for. The school could also limit or block what websites the students can access. This would prevent a student getting on or downloading inappropriate files from the internet. Students should have Laptops at school but they should be limited. They should only be able to get on the things that they would use for homework or for school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Year Is My First Year Of College Last year was my first year of college. Freshmen year as a transition for me from High School to College, I don t think I did well in adjusting to college life. I m regretting lots thing I could have done, but I didn t. I wish I could be like other ordinary students live in the dorm, they have more opportunities to involve school s activity, and more chances to get to know more people. As a freshman in college, I was scared about failing my classes so I tried my best to work on every assignment in order to have a good grade. However I still had all kinds of new experiences, like driving by myself to school, a new kind of teaching system and meeting new friends. I had many interesting assignments from all my class, but my English 10M class was the class that helped me improve on my writing. In my English 10M class we had many essayassignments and we were required to do at least three drafts before turning it in. We also had a chance to do peer review and get feedback from professors, which helped a lot for me to understand where I made mistakes and what I needed to work on. After taking an English 10M class, I had unforgettable essay experiences and I learned a lot from it. The narcissism essay had a lot of requirements. The essay was for my English 10M class, and for the assignment, we had to argue about whether narcissism is good or bad. To do this, we used information from our assigned reading as well as our own experiences and opinions. So we needed to pick a side and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At a dinner meeting, friends share their insights into life, and eventually, from a neurologist, and friend of Conway, evolves the story of Conway s exotic adventures. Also, the effect of different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely pre , meta and post mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The adsorptionisotherm of madder on woolfibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted one. He opposes the Marxist value that humans are superior to their animal counterparts, rather, he holds, humans are quite like wolves to each other. With this claim, he explores how internal compositions work in the grand scheme, to create a working mechanism of society that tames and creates internal negotiations of behaviour and instinct. (also include what comes of the last question) Freud, a psychologist, had views that were at odds with Marxist values, derived from a philosopher and economist. Their views on what drives human nature are fundamentally different. Freud adhered to the belief that humans are enslaved by their instinctive forces. This is to say that humans are driven to seek out pleasure. Marx, on the other hand, believed that humans are motivated by their place in society through labour. His core value was the division of labor, and how it structures society. Freud understood man in a Darwinian sense, that man comes from natural selection, in the sense that Darwin insisted on its [homo sapiens] kinship with lesser cousins and observed that the stamp of [its] lowly origin was quite ineffaceable (12). This contrasts with the Marxist assumption that humans are different from animals, the belief in human exceptionalism. We went with this idea assuming that students have had previous experiences with GeoGebra and with fair sharing, perhaps with friends or siblings for example. We divided up the work evenly and worked on our sections on our own, asking for help if needed. It is surprisingly amazing how traffic jams can bring out the worst and the best of you. Throughout my driving life, I had been stuck in heavy traffic that lasted more than four hours, and light traffic that only lasted less than forty five minutes. However, sitting in traffic gave me the opportunity to categorize driver s behavior such as the ass of the jungle, the monk drivers, the snoopies and the hot head... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I totally have seen some drivers acting like a monk in traffic. The monk drivers tend not to feel desperate, and usually they distract themselves with other activities. For example, my cousin used to drive from Woodbridge to Alexandria when she studied at NOVA. Sometimes she used to get stuck in rush hour traffic, and she used to read her lecture in the traffic. To be honest, I totally see that as a smart way to spend time in traffic. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk driver is catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to call my grandmother. We spent two hours talking which helped me to get distracted. In hindsight it does sound dangerous to talk on the phone while driving, but this time any car wasn t moving a bit. Also, Monk drivers prepare a playlist before getting out from home. Listening to your favorite music can give you a sense of tranquility. In fact, monk drivers practice a lot of equanimity, which is a mental calmness. Framework considering joins the other four guideline of individual authority, mental models, building shared vision and group learning. When all the five orders are consolidated and honed in an association then that association changes itself from a conventional association to a learning association. A framework thinking approach concentrates on enhancing the mentality of people to concentrate on accomplishing long haul objectives which are essentials to the association than to actualize short term objectives which acquire impermanent benefits. This general advancement in frameworks considering an individual is built up when the association concentrates on the other four orders (Cropper, 2012). At the point when an individual spotlights on enhancing himself, he achieves a level of individual dominance, in this procedure he changes his disposition to take in new things and create from inside his internal viewpoints. At the point when internal improvement is accomplished through individual dominance, he wipes out the lack of awareness and enhances his mental models. Mental models are the path in which an singular takes a gander at things around him, when he experts himself, he picks up certainty and can accomplish better results while interfacing with individuals at a more individual level (Cropper, 2012). According to the Center for Disease Control, the study involved 600 black men, among whom 399 had the disease, and 201 did not, but were used as controls. Participants were under the impression that they were being treated for bad blood , which was how researchers described their condition. From another point of view, Nurse Rivers has also been as much of a victim as the participants of the study, due to both gender and race. In a patriarchal society dominated by whites, to an extent, she was powerless. There would have been dire consequences for a negro, especially a woman to challenge the doctor with whom she worked. According the Darlene Clark Hines, the doctor not only worked for the government, but was also a white male, which made him superior by virtue of race and gender. As a loyal employee, Nurse River always did as she was told, and knew that a nurse should not question orders given by doctors. Nurse Rivers was described as an upwardly mobile woman, who had adopted the values and attitudes of middle class culture, which suggests that class identity shaped her professional life. At the time, it was difficult to find a job, given the great economic depression in America. Moreover, having lost her job with the Alabama State health department, Nurse Rivers was more than happy work as a public health nurse. Through hard work, she achieved her goal of entering the middle class arena and having a job helped her to maintain her position. It was crucial as a black nurse struggling for a place in a profession dominated by whites, to cooperate with her superiors. Similarly, by forging relations with her white colleagues, she improved her status as a black professional working in the world of white medicine. Clearly, hard times, economic austerity and upward mobility were influential factors, and as stated by James Jones, race, professional hierarchies, class, and gender all played distinct and ... • 43. Compare And Contrast Sixteen Candles And Ferris Bueller s... 1.After viewing both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller s Day Off I would have to choose Sixteen Candles to be my favorite of the two. My reasoning is because I feel the storyline and characters were developed better, allowing the audience to feel a greater connection with the film. When comparing the two films, Sixteen Candles comes across as more angst driven, with a strong female lead. Ferris Bueller s Day Off has an obvious strong male lead character, with more humor obvious throughout the film. The overall tone of Sixteen Candles is less upbeat than Ferris Bueller. As the main character Samantha is struggling throughout the film with the acceptance of her family forgetting her birthday, Ferris Bueller has no care in the world and refuses to be defeated. The relationships in Ferris Bueller s Day Off are mainly friend to friend and student to authority. Sixteen Candles depicts a more romantic aspect, with a love story being the main focus throughout. 2.Out of both of these films the one I find that strays mostly from John Hughes other teenage films in Ferris Bueller s Day Off. Sixteen Candles, I found to be fitting with the other films because it has a strong female lead, teen angst, and a major love story component. For example, Samantha and Jake at the end of the film kissing in the candle light. A dramatic end scene kiss has been depicted in Pretty in Pink as well. Ferris Bueller s Day Off on the other hand, is something unlike any other John Hughes film. It is witty, and fast paced, not focusing on teen angst or romance in any aspect. There are no love triangles, or finding out whether two main characters will end up together. It takes another point of view from teenagers about being young and enjoying life before it catches up with you. Ferris Bueller s Day Off also a strong theme of relationships with authority figures, which we only see in the other John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club. An example of this in the film is between Ferris and Mr. Rooney. There is constant conflict between them, one example is when Ferris has Cameron prank call Mr. Rooney s office. This shows not only Ferris disrespect for authority, but Mr. Rooney s disrespect for Ferris. 3.Breaking the fourth wall is something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Statistic s put out by the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) showed our 9 year olds were ranked 34th out of 53 countries effectively bottom equal with other developing nations along with a whole lot of unforgiving data findings (Johnston, 2015). Social inequality has a much bigger role to play in the long tail of underachievement . It is common knowledge that in New Zealand the gap between the wealthy and the poor has widened enormously over the past two decades (APA). To analyses this dilemma we need to look at the defection of socioeconomic status. Max Weber formed the term socioeconomic status (SES): An individual s or group s position within hierarchical social structure. Socioeconomic status depends on a combination of variables, including occupation, education, income, wealth, and place of residence (APA). I will shed some light on answering this question and to also look at historical issues relating to socioeconomic status and New Zealand s education. Therefore, it is important that we take note of these factors and try to work on them in order to improve the lives of everyone within these countries. Educational psychology is the study of how humans learn and retain knowledge, primarily in educational settings like classrooms. Educational psychology combines numerous amounts of other branches of psychology, including: developmental psychology, behavioral psychology, and cognitive psychology. Educational psychology is an approximately new subfield that has had a huge amount of growth in recent years. The four major perspectives in educational psychology are: Behavioral perspective, developmental perspective, cognitive perspective, and the constructivist approach. The behavioral perspective proposes that all behaviors are learned through conditioning. An example of this would be a teacher handing out tickets for participating in class or good behavior that can later be exchanged for candy or toys. The developmental perspective suggest how children obtain new skills and knowledge as they develop. An example of this is Jean Piaget s distinguished stages of cognitive development. Therefore, the beginning of the process should be changed in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and handheld devices by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled, and electronically sent to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added activity that can be eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long term, it will save both organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service the organization gives. With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the patient receives the correct medicine and dosage. After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log of all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. These logs will be collected monthly to measure the amount of prescriptions filled wrong to determine if the changes are working. REFERENCES Esposito, Lisa. (2014). How to Deal With ... • 53. Kinetic Reaction Lab Introduction: On the word of Shelton (2018) in the General Chemistry в…Ў Lab Manual, Kinetics is the study of the rates which chemical reactions occur at. The rate of reaction is dependent upon the change of concentration over the change in time (p. 14). The objection of this lab was to establish the order of reaction with respect to persulfate ion and the overall rate constant. Experimental Procedure: For this lab, you will need three beakers that have a volume of 150mL, 2 graduated cylinders that have a volume of 10mL and a stopwatch (Shelton, 2018 p. 15). In between experiments, you will want to clean the beakers and the graduated cylinders thoroughly to obtain accurate results. Beaker 1 and 2 will need to be kept separate and each will have a graduated cylinder of their own.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As advised by Shelton, you should do it at least 2 3 times to ensure that acquire the most precise data. The first time my partners and I conducting this experiment, we got a brown liquid that we weren t quite confident was the color the liquid was supposed to be. Consequently, we completed the experiment again and that time we were efficient to capture the results we expected. There are no theories applicable to this lab. The objective of this experiment was to establish the order of reaction with respect to persulfate ion and overall rate. A way I would compare my results with my classmates is by inquiring them how they stirred their solution after they mixed the contents of beaker 1 and 2 together. Did they use a stirrer, mix it by shaking the beaker in a circle or did they mix the solution at all? A strength I experienced during this experiment is the consistency of the contents in the second beaker. Although the amount of K_2 S_2 O_8 and K_s SO_4 varied throughput the four experiments, they all yielded the same results. Which was a black color when the contents of beaker 1 and 2 were mixed into beaker 3. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
