The Theory Of Oedipus Complex
Introduction The term Oedipal complex was initially used by Sigmund Freud as he developed a theory
to explain the stages of psychosexual stages of development in an attempt to explain or describe the
boy child feelings of attraction to the mother and anger and envy towards the father (Fear, 2005).
Basically, the boy may feel like he is competing with the father for the belonging and possession of
the mother. The boy sees the father as a threat for her affections, desires and attentions. In terms of the
psychoanalytic theory, Oedipus complex may refer to the desire of a child to sexual engagement with
a parent of opposite sex, specifically the boy s amatory concentration, attention and attraction to the
mother. Freud argues that the complexity of Oedipus plays an imperative function in the stage of
Phallic where a kid undergoes psychosexual growth. Freud also trusts that if the stage completes
successfully and the child manages to involve himself or herself with a parent of opposite gender
ultimately, this involvement leads to the development of a sexual identity that is mature. As this theory
explains, the boy child admires to seize or possess the mother fully and if possible out do the father,
who this child always sees as a great enemy of the mother s love. The Freud Oedipus complex usually
happens or takes place in the phallic stage of the children between the ages of three to five years, who
at this age undergoes psychosexual development. This stage in the real sense

Renaissance Dbq
Renaissance DBQ During the Renaissance time period, each man and woman needed to strive to meet
the ideal image that was expected by society. If this image was not met, the person would be judged
by society. Both males and females had different goals that they needed to meet in education, as well
as in their lives. While there was an ideal image, some people disagreed with them. There was always
a distinct role for both women and men, but within those roles, there could be controversy. The most
controversy could occur over the education that the males and females were getting, there were clear
roles and ideals for men and women in the beginning of the Renaissance time period, but as time went
on, people became more skeptical of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were certain aspects of learning that he emphasized more than the others. Not only did he focus
on major works that the people should know but also on ...writing in verse and prose... (3) Castiglione
had the ideal image in his mind of exactly what people needed to be and the way they should act.
When he said this, it was greatly respected because of his writing of his well known conduct book.
However, people began to veer away from this ideal of a needed education; it became a major change
for society. Later on, in the Letter to the Parlement of Dijon concerning the reopening of a French
Jesuit school, it was explicitly said that all men do not need an education. Some men need to do work
that is not based off of education; they need to do the basics that make society properly function. The
study of literature is appropriate only to a small minority of men. This statement explicitly says that an
education is not for everyone, boldly going against Castiglione. (11) This was a bold statement to
make, because it showed a drastic change in people s point of view of a proper man. Along with
saying not all people needed to be educated, there was also the vast criticism of the school system and
the way it was teaching. The concepts being learned in school needed to be more readily applied into
real life situations, and this did not seem to be the true goal. (8) While there was vast change in the
view of the education of

Motivation And Management Theory Of Motivation Essay
In order to understand motivation in an organization and how it affects its employees and management
we must first understand what exactly motivation is. Motivation in an organization encourages
employees to work efficiently and in the best interest of the company; as the manager of an
organization one should start looking into why or how motivation is established. An organization will
not be as successful if their employees are unmotivated and they will likely have a high turnover rate.
This may be especially important in the upcoming years as more and more millennials begin to enter
into the workforce. On average people switch job at least 10 15 times in their life and this trend is will
mostly likely increase with millennials (Doyle). In my ethics class we discussed how kids of my
generation will make big changes to the way organizations are run. Millennials may be motivated
differently than the generation X workers. Motivation has continually evolved and now there are
different strategies on how to motivate employees. Frederick Taylor, an engineer who pursued
increasing efficiency in organizations, developed the scientific management theory of motivation. He
wanted to be able to figure out the most efficient way to complete a task. He decided to break down
tasks into the smallest possible units (Dininni). He focused on how much work could be done in a
certain amount of time. Taylor s management theory asserts that organizations should identify the best

Persuasive Speech About Life And Death
You ve made a life for yourselves around your pretension, but that doesn t mean your Creator must
pretend with you. Today you think yourself great and mighty. Tomorrow, worms will think they will
have you for dinner. Mortal beings have always recognized their temporary state causing them to
pleasure in their pretension. It gives them the audacity to think themselves high and exalted even if it
is for a moment in time prior to becoming food for worms. Do you think any of them, after consuming
you and picking their teeth, will comment how mighty you tasted? I ll also give you something else to
contend with, a plague of prehistoric animals to ravage through your nations to kill and devour you.
Perhaps that will tame your mouth from speaking out against Utopia and your Creator and impress on
you the true rage your God has for the shame of man. I ve told you time and time again to accept the
restored gospel, but all you do is continue in obstinacy. I will tell you what will come to pass. The
Christian church will wait until the last moment when it is standing halfway between life and death
before turning to its Christ for comfort. They shall receive none because they have made the distance
between themselves and their Comforter immeasurable. You can hear neither the truth, nor the
cheering of hidden spectators, who rush to make hash marks on their arms to tally what they have

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during
this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and
their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back
further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However,
renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going
to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war.
In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was
formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Each city contributed funds to help

The Political Reforms Made By Solon During The Sixth...
Per the dictionary democracy is a government by the people; a form of government in which the
supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under
a free electoral system. . This definition is well known due to the type of government that runs
America today. As time went on democracy s representation was altered after each time it was
practiced in a different civilization. Before democracy came to America it was passed a long way from
its possible beginnings in Athens due to a man named Solon. The political reforms made by Solon
during the sixth century B.C. have many democratic aspects but not all reforms benefited the good of
the people like it does today.

In class, we learned about the two different types of peasants in Athens. The first type are the
landowning peasants from the hillside; they had small yet fertile land. The reasons they are titled
peasants instead of farmers is because they didn t sell their crops for profit but rather use it to survive.
But for these peasants to begin growing crops they had to have seeds which they often got from
borrowing from wealthy aristocrats. When the time came for peasants to repay the aristocrats they
often couldn t due to bad harvests, poor rationing etc. Then they, unfortunately, became enslaved by
the wealthy to repay their debt with manual labor (page 54 paragraph 2). Parents would often give
away their children to settle their debt since there were no laws preventing this unruly exchange. They
were taken and made to cultivate the land of the aristocrats (page 54 paragraph 13). If one didn t have
children to give they could also be exiled and sent to a foreign country.
The second type of peasant were the sharecroppers, they lived in the plains and rented land from the
aristocrats. Their crops were divvied with 1/6th paying for rent to the aristocrat, 1/6th as food for the
animals, 1/3rd to feed their family and 1/3rd was saved as seeds for the next harvest. When these types
of peasants were unable to pay their debt they because slaves of the land in which their creditors

The organization known as AARP was originally the American Association of Retired People but has
dropped the full name for the less specific initials, an oft used strategy by groups or corporations that
are trying to broaden their markets, their customer base, or their appeal. How many of us remember
what the initials IBM, PPG, or SAS once meant? AARP has long sought to include all people aged 50
or more, regardless of their employment status. Given the size of the baby boom cohort AARP has a
large pool of potential members and readers of their magazine, which until 2002 was known as
Modern Maturity. Images promted by that name, like those caused by the former full association name

Examples Of Escapism In Neverwhere
Neverwhere is a story that involves escapism in many different aspects whether it s the underground
world or creatures. Neil Gaiman writes Neverwhere based on the television series. In the novel, the
main character Richard is confronted with saving an insignificant person or continuing on as if he
never saw them. Richard chooses to save the girl, launching him into a life of adventure, danger, and
obscurity. Neverwhere is a contrast of two different worlds: the land of the forgotten and the land of

how time passes In Neverwhere, there are are two distinctly different communities, London Above

Once she s slept it off, I m sure she ll be fine. (Neil Gaiman, Pg 51) . This quote gives the idea that
people think that if they give any support or help then they will be walked all over. Similarly to
London Above the people/creatures of London Below don t help each other when they are struggling
unless they feel like they owe someone something. The author writes, You really wouldn t be in this

People also play a different role in the worlds because of how they interact with the animals around
them. In London Below people and rats live together and they assist each other while in the real world
if you were caught talking to a rat they would condemn you as mentally insane. Richard experienced

The Blizzard Inc.
When it comes to gamers there is not one who does not know who Activision Blizzard Inc. is. Even
those who do not play any video games tend to know that blizzard commands a legion of followers, I
know that throughout high school I logged ridiculous hours into their game Diablo II which was a top
selling game of the time. In gaming the Blizzard Company has created more top ranked games
bringing in more money than most people can truly fathom. When all is said and done what is the true
value of such a company, how much money do they control in our economy? Who is it that can rival
such a behemoth of a company? Within these few pages I will try to encompass the mass of this
company, what it is that drives them and to what extent their influence travels within our world and
perhaps beyond. Although Blizzard was created in 1991 it was not public, it was not until September,
30 1993 that it was made a publically traded company. Upon its first day of trading it commanded a
price of only eighty three cents per share. Today it has a price of over thirty five dollars per share with
a record high price of $38.71 just a week ago. Considering the price it started at this is a remarkable
feat, this company started small and has weathered some of the worst economic storms we have seen
in our history. Though we have recovered a great deal since the housing market collapse, as a whole
the market recently has been going down across all boards I believe as a result of the oil prices

Black Banner Symbolism
The story begins in 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to defend a puppet dictator
against rebels. Many men from the Middle East traveled to fight alongside the rebels as they see it as a
religious battle. Among these rebels were Osama bin Laden and Abu Musab Al Zarqawi. After the
Soviet withdrawal in 1989, the rebels went home, at this time Osama bin Laden forms Al Qaeda while
Abu Musab Al Zarqawi forms his own group. Bin Laden grew Al Qaeda to be a global force while
Zarqawi s organization dwindled. They later returned to Afghanistan which was under Taliban control
around 1996. On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda attacked the United States from its base in

Many of the symbols Isis has adopted are those of Prophet Muhammed. One of the symbols Isis has
adopted is the monochrome flag. The flag is often called the Black Banner or Black Standard
(Porzucki). It is believed that one of the Prophet s war banners was monochrome. The Black Banner is
an ancient tradition in Eastern, Arabic and Islamic culture. In the Middle East, colors have important
meanings. To some believers, the colors do not only represent the jihad or the caliphate, but it
represents the final battle at the Day of Judgement (Prusher). Additionally, the calligraphy on the flag
represents great importance. The calligraphy evokes images of the Prophet as well as images of the
ancient caliphate (Porzucki). At the top of the flag, the calligraphy reads, There is no god but Allah.
Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. This text is known as the Shahada. Across Islam, the Shahada
is used as a declaration of faith. Another symbol they have adopted is represented by the white circle.
The text inside the circle also reads Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. Some people believe that
this is supposed to symbolize the Prophet s official seal. The use of Prophet Muhammed s symbols
creates a sense of endorsement of Isis s action. The symbols on the flag were strategically chosen to
evoke the faith of muslims and the image of their goal of the

Jackson Pollock Research Paper
The abstract expressionist whose work I admire the most is the work of Jackson Pollock. He was born
on January 28, 1912 in Cody, Wyoming. He was an influential American Painter, and the leading force
behind the abstract expressionist movement in the art world (Barbara Moore). When Pollock was 8,
his father, who was an abusive alcoholic, left the family, and Pollock s older brother, Charles, became
like a father to him. While the family was living in Los Angeles, Pollock discovered his passion for

Pollock s art grew, so too did the pressure he felt, and with it his alcoholism. Overwhelmed with
Pollock s needs, Krasner was also unable to work. Their marriage became troubled, and Pollock s
health was failing (John Seed). By 1956, he had quit painting, and his marriage was basically ruined.
Krasner left for Paris to give Pollock space. Just after 10 p.m. on August 11, 1956, Pollock, who had

Dbr Case
Based on the information in this case analysis, what are the types of threats DBR may be facing?
DBR is facing various kinds of threats like one from its competitors who could try to steal the
intellectual property of DBR and other from the advanced hackers who may be against the offshore oil
drilling projects and could target DBR for their role in those projects.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
Recently DBR released their advanced robotic prototype at an international tradeshow. Industry
experts have termed this prototype as the most advanced robotic system and also suggest that this
prototype is at least 5 years ahead of what DBR s competition has to offer. Because of this reason,
DBR fear that their competitors could try and steal their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Espionage through advanced persistent threat (APT)
Advanced persistent threat (APT) is most critical information security threat. Competitor companies
could try such attacks with intent of having ongoing access to DBR s research data. In these attacks,
the data is not damaged or deleted, but is stolen without raising any alarms. This is the most advanced
and critical threat because with APT attacks, competitors can have unrestricted access to DBR s
network and data for as long as they desire.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
The threat which DBR is facing from its competitors is another significant threat. Before the launch of
the new prototype robot, DBR s competitors had an upper hand in the market which they lost once the
DBR announced their new prototype. Network attacks from the DBR s competitors could be aimed at
either at stealing the intellectual property so that they can again get in front in the robotics market or
those attacks could be for damaging or corrupting the research data so that DBR is not able to function
as efficiently. Such network attacks are also capable of damaging the company s infrastructure.
Competitor s intent behind these threats is straightforward, they want to get ahead in the market either
by stealing the information from DBR or by hampering DBR s functioning through data and
infrastructure damage.
Sabotage Information extortion

The Decolonization Of Mars
A lot can be said about Mars. It was named after the Roman God of War, Mars, for its red color. One
of the biggest topics of conversation regarding Mars is whether or not us humans should be looking to

because in the end they are both working towards a common goal of getting to Mars. The points I will
layout through this essay will be, is Mars habitable, how much money it will cost to get to Mars, some
thoughts from Stephen Petranek and is it an actual solution.

Food, shelter, water, and clothing. This is for Earth, when we get to Mars, we would need oxygen as
well. What has been stated earlier in the essay was having supplies brought to Mars earlier than our
intended arrival, and some of the stuff there could be dry food. In his Ted talk, he states that about
80% of the food we would eat on Mars would be dry foods, and the other would be grown gradually
over time. Petranek says in his Ted talk that about 15 20% would be grown from hydroponics. What
this means is that plants would grow without soil, because Martian soil is toxic. It is considered to be
toxic because NASA s Curiosity rover found perchlorates in the Martian ground. We wouldn t be able

Patients are becoming armed with devices that can empower, monitor, track and even measure their
disease progression creating interventions when necessary to optimize the health and response time to
disease. New devices and tools technology into a smartphone for example, have the potential to
become an extension of a patient s health care provider and already change the way in which patients
interact with the medical system. These various devices can allow public health officials to better
monitor and screen for diseases in large populations and ultimately help improve preventive strategies
and access to care for millions of Americans. This is all a critical part of improving outcomes for
patients going forward.
As pharmacists we are aware that the management of COPD is multi pronged approach. Treatment
focuses on monitoring changes and relieving symptoms, improving function/exercise tolerance and
ongoing vigilance. There exists however, variables needed to assess and monitor the disease, reduce
risk factors, such as smoking and air pollution, stabilize care to prevent disease progression and
manage exacerbations and comorbid conditions. This could not be accomplished without the infusion
of the healthcare technologies. (17).
Asthma is one of the most prevalent non communicable chronic respiratory conditions occurring

John Was Preaching Against Rome
John was preaching against Rome in Revelation
In the late first century a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, John of Patmos, received a vision of the end
the world. John later wrote this vision down and his writing has come down to modernity as The Book
of Revelation also known as The Apocalypse of John. When John wrote Revelation was he using it as
a coded message to preach against Rome? In this vision, John saw many images that could be read as
Rome or Roman if viewed from a historical context. Subsequent generations have interpreted the
imagery within their own historical context. With this paper I will argue that Revelation pertains to the
Roman world and culture that John and his followers were living in, the events in Judea that are

Why Kids Should Be Able To Graduate In Three Years
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. That s a
student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. Students should be able to graduate in three years because
some kids want to go to college as early as possible, it would allow people to get better jobs at a
younger age, and it would cause less drop outs because they could finish it in less time and graduate
faster.
Students should be able to graduate in three years because a lot of kids want to go to college as early

The s Complaint By Philip Roth
The hero discovers that he has an undescended testicle. The image sticks in the mind. We can see that
it is not an unmixed blessing (Broyard) Portnoy s Complaint by Philip Roth has many ridiculous
situations that the protagonist Alex Portnoy goes through during his rapid telling of his life to his
psyche analysis Dr. Spielvogel that we can t forget right away. As we go take trip through Alex;s
Portnoy s fictional tale describes how a oppressive community environment can leave ever lasting
damage to one s personal psyche.
Portnoy s mother is one of main cause of his damaged mental state. Throughout the book it became
quite clear that Alex s mother may have caused him near permanent damage to his mind. Early on it s
obvious that the Portnoy household isn t one we expected to see. Firstly Alex comments how he would
be locked out of his house as small child when he disobeyed Sophie his mother. This can several
issues; when you young that young (5 8yrs) you kinda need to depend upon your parents for
everything but here it shown that his mother have little problem abandoning him to the outdoors. The
interesting part is she had full belief that he would stay out there until he was allowed to back since he
was a mama s boy. This is a early sign of a family that is fundamentally broken because a parent
should never have reacted in that way to child that small. This attitude of a reaction is actually ironic
since later on Sophie is portrayed as to be a extremely

Margaret Cavendish And The Scientific Revolution
One of the most prolific eras in our world s history is the Scientific Revolution. During this time men
began to think outside the realm of possibility and delved themselves deep into the exciting unknown
world of science. The innovative minds of these people churned out inventions like gunpowder and
the printing press, as well as, inventive new ways of thinking like the scientific method. Aside from
the inventors and innovators, there were also the publicists and writers without whom no one would
know or understand the new ideas of the time. One such person was Margaret Cavendish who was
born and raised in England. She received the same education that a lady during her time did. However,
due to her husband, Sir Charles Cavendish, she was exposed to the world of science. The subject
intrigued her so much that she ended up publishing her own theory on atoms. Though her atomic
theory contains many scientific Renaissance ideals, it is still seen as a major contribution of thought
during the Scientific Revolution.
To begin with, in order to understand the philosophies of Margaret Cavendish one must also
understand the Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution was a revolution in both thought and
methodology. During the Renaissance science comprised of the organic theories of the magicians and
vitalistic theories created by chemists. Additionally, humans personified the world as a motherly figure

Verbal communication is a two way process and should involve active listening. I will need to adapt

Lord Of The Flies Allegory Examples
Allegorical Meanings of LOTF.
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is basically represented by three big allegories as a whole;
Political, Historical, and Religious. The allegorical meaning for the novel differs from each category
of allegory. For political, later in the book, there are two different clashing tribes representing a
different type of government. The Historical allegory compares the main characters such as Simon,
Piggy, or Ralph to famous or infamous historical people. Lastly, the meaning of the religious allegory
is that the island is the Garden of Eden and the boys are Adam and Eve. For each category of the three
different types of allegories, the meaning of the book, Lord of The Flies, as a whole differs. The

The first thing Ralph does when he gets to the island is take off his clothes and take a bath in the
lagoon. Ralph inspected the whole thirty yards carefully and then plunged in. The water was warmer
than his blood and he might have been swimming in a huge bath. (Golding, 12) This gesture relates to
the act of Baptism and the innocence of Adam and Eve. Later in the book, the boys become more
savage than civilised trying to find the beast, or snake thing when it is really just hiding inside of
them. This is just like how Adam and Eve were fooled by the satan that disguised himself as a serpent.
The Devil figure, or the Satan is another religious allegory hidden in Lord of The Flies. It is actually
hidden right in the title. Lord of the Flies in hebrew means Beelzebub which is another name for Satan
or Devil. This name is from the Canaanite Baal which means Lord and so he is known for lord of the
flies. To expand even more, the boys on the island are described with fly like behaviors and actions.

Effects of the Cold War in Nicaragua Essays
The Cold War was a period in history right after WWII ended and it ended in 1991, when the USSR
broke apart. The conflict was between two types of governments: the communists and the capitalism
(democrats). The USSR represented the communist side, while the U.S. represented the democrats.
Both countries had nuclear weapons and did not want to fight each other directly because they didn t
want a Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), so they fought through other countries, by Proxy Wars.
The global tensions in Cold War affected a few countries in a couple of regions, for example Central
America. The involvement of the United States aided Nicaragua economically, militarily, and

Gay Rights And Social Discrimination On College Campuses
While many Christians tend to belong to a traditional , or conservative, school of thought and beliefs,
a subset of more liberal Christians count themselves as a sizable minority of their communities.
Therefore, there exists a sizable population on campus who follow a more progressive system of
beliefs: a support of gay rights, forward thoughts on female roles in the Church, and other thoughts
which fall more in the Left end of the political spectrum. These are the voices on college campuses
which find themselves aligning with, and protecting, their fellow peers of non heterosexual
orientations.
Many of the religiously liberal find themselves in an uphold battle within their own communities
when it comes to collegiate discriminatory policies and social discrimination of others against the
LGBT community. Most justify their views, beliefs, and support to fellow Christians by referencing
the unconditional love of God and the supremacy of love over other biblical laws. This is not without
Church support, as Pope Francis recently mused, If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and

the members of the order Primates (Bonvillain and Miller 2013: 251). When people comparing human

one of the most unique changes from apes to hominid evolution. Besides, a Humans skin is the most
visible aspect of the human phenotype. It is recognized principally by its naked appearance (Jablonski

however why people still have so much hair on our heads? Most researchers believe that hominid
especially for modern human does not require such a great amount of hair to keep body warm and
bare skin plays a significant role in sexual selection.
The majority of researchers believe that the major reason that a human lost more body hair than a
primate like gorillas is to avoid over heating. Hominid s naked skins extraordinarily enhanced abilities
to spend body heat through sweating. (Jablonski 2004: 585). Hominids are the only primates that are

The Difference Between Shakespearean And Aristotelian Tragedy
Tragedies across Time
In our modern language, the word tragedy has become a word that describes mundane incidents that
are negative. At the most, a tragedy is used describe horrific event that involves severe misfortune;
however, when comes to the theatre term, the definition of tragedy is much more specific then the
modern use of the word. In essence, a tragedy depending on the time and place was used to tell the
tale of tragic hero and the flaw that contributed his eventual downfall. Unfortunately, this too simple

the interpretation of the story.

understanding is to understand its origins. B.L. Ullman, the mention of tragedy by Aristotle in his

Howl By Ginsberg Essay
Constraints of Confinement
Trumpets blaring, bass booming, heads swaying to the beat in a tiny jazz club. Creativity is flowing
and the Beat Poets of the 1950s are unknowingly establishing a counterculture movement, one that
challenges the social norms and politics of their time and even transcends generations to remain
relevant today. Poets like Jack Kerouac, William Seward Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Allen
Ginsberg were heavily influenced by jazz, adopting their seedy dress, manners, and hip vocabulary (
Beat Movement ) that changed their lifestyle and helped write their poetry. Specifically, Allen
Ginsberg s poem Howl, is often regarded as the anthem of 1950s Beats ( Howl | Poem by Ginsberg ), a
poem unstructured and free flowing to reflect Ginsberg s experiences. In Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses
unique language and changes his tone throughout the poem in an attempt to break the constraints of
confinement and seek his own forms of freedom.

Smoking Vs Grilling Research
If you want to become a grilling expert, it is important to learn about the two main ways to cook over
an open flame: smoking and grilling. What are their main differences? Is the flavor from one different
from the flavor from the other? We will consider these questions and more as we look at smoking vs.
grilling. What is the difference between smoking and grilling?
Smoking is an ancient method of preserving meats using smoke, indirect heat and low cooking
temperatures. The original reason for using this method had more to do with preserving the meat than
with flavor. These days, it is used mostly for the flavor and for making meat tender by breaking down
the connective tissue in it. Properly smoked meats acquire a smoke ring. This term refers to the layer
of meat just beneath the exterior. It is especially visible in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas the heat used to smoke meat is indirect and low, the heat used for grilling is direct and high.
Grilling is not so much about breaking down collagen and making meat tender as it is about
caramelizing the exterior and sealing in juices to keep the interior moist. What about taste?
The flavor of grilled meat versus the flavor slow smoked meat is the basis of yet another big culinary
debate. Many chefs believe that the flavor of slow smoked meat is superior to that of grilled meat;
however, it is possible to have best of both worlds with the use of wood chips or wood chunks. The
ideal wood for smoking is thought to come from certain species of fruit or nut trees. Apple, peach and
pecan woods are all thought to be excellent for slow smoking meats. Can you get a smoky flavor from
grilling?
Yes, you can. One of the easiest ways to do this with a charcoal grilling is to add wood chips. Simply
toss a handful of chips onto your smoldering coals to create smoke that will flavor your meat. You can
also mix chunks of wood in with the coals to smoke meat for longer

Technology During The Twentieth Century
Technology had a great influence on literature in the early twentieth century. This was the era of
Women s Suffrage Movement and the Great War both of which had an impact on literature. The
Women s Movement challenged long held ideals that men were superior in both mind and body, but
more importantly, activists used technology to advance their cause. Five thousand women marched on
Washington in order to gain media attention and support, and this coverage eventually led to the
ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment (Belasco and Johnson 489). World War I saw the use of
modern warfare including chemical weapons and airplanes, tanks, and the machine gun. This
technology made war more horrible and more complex than previous wars. This was also the time of
jazz music, the flapper, and full length talking movies (498 499). Moreover, mass market magazines
and Book of the Month clubs along with the increase students pursuing higher education meant a
higher demand for novels (500, 502). All of these advances created the age of modernism.
The modernism movement embraced painting, music, literature, and challenged previous styles and
traditions. Influenced by changes brought on by the technology and the destruction of the Great War,
the modernist writer questioned authority and established ideas. They broke away from the way things

The And Collective Anti Semitic Violence
Collective acts of violence during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century became more
prominent and apparent since the Civilizing Process meant that violence was no longer an inherent
part of everyday life. Ideology, namely, a historically rooted, descriptive and normative mental map of
both the way the world works and the way the world should work , played a prominent role in
influencing collective violence. This essay will focus primarily on pogroms and collective anti Semitic

One of the main reasons for anti Semitic collective violence was the fear of the outsider. Jews as the
minority group were often seen as a threat to nationality, and attacking them became a symbolic way
of strengthening patriotism during times of political upheaval. In Eastern Europe, the onset of the
Russian Revolution meant that anything that was deemed un Russian was perceived as a threat. When
examining the 1905 pogrom in Odessa it becomes clear that the political developments during 1905
created a polarization of political opinions . The course of actions leading to the pogrom, with riots
and demonstrations either for or against the Tsarist regime created tension, eventually leading to the
pogrom. Jewish resentment began with the belief that they were not contributing to the Russo
Japanese war, and was strengthened by blaming Jews for being responsible for the cities disorders. It
is clear that political unrest felt before the Russian Revolution worked as a trigger for attacking a
group that was ideologically deemed an outsider and a threat. The Lwów pogrom of 1918 similarly
had elements of political polarity that acted as an immediate cause of the pogrom . With the end of the
First World War, the communist revolution and the battle for independence between the Ukrainians
and the Poles, all cultural and ethnic outsiders immediately became perceived as enemies . Jewish
neutrality

Change is difficult to adapt to. That is why many individuals have foreseeable actions, opinions, and
thoughts. In the book The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, both
Holden and Lee dislike change. In The Washington Post, during the review of Curtis Sittenfled s Prep,
they wrote, Holden Caulfield would love this heroine. Holden would appreciate Lee s predictability in
her actions. In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden appreciates predictable people. For
example, Holden enjoys going to the museum (16). The reason is that every time Holden goes to the
museum, the placement of the artifacts will never change. This shows that he values stability. This
means that Holden dislikes change because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, And this was it, the last time: I was retiring from cutting hair (158). This shows that Lee
is retiring from hair cutting because she feels disgust towards Aspeth and Cross behavior. They are
flirting in front of her when she was cutting Aspeth s nasty, blond hair. Holden would like Lee because
she still cuts Aspeth s hair even though she dislikes her personality and the way she carries herself.
Lee does not speak up and let other people take control of her. Even though some of Lee s actions
contradict Holden s personality, her predictability overrules all of the irony. The reason is that Holden
wishes that some of the people that he adores (Jane) will never change because if they do, they can
hurt his heart and wreck the love between them. My hair desperately needs cutting (164). This shows
that Lee is predictable because after she vows that she will never cut hair anymore, she cuts Ms.
Moray s hair a few days after Aspeth s. She cuts Ms. Moray s hair so she does not let her down
because she is a person that always fulfills the needs of others before her own. Holden would like Jane
because her actions and thoughts are predictable. He is a person that appreciates stability because he
likes people and things that do not change over a long period of

Victor s Monologue
He then remembered that he had a spare key in his bag. As he, rummaged through his bag he finally
opened the front door and got into his home. Honey i m back home , he shouted.
Usually when he says something like this he is replied with an answer. Surprisingly he is was
ashonstied because victora didn t say a word.
He rushed up the old, rugged stairs calling out victoria s name. Little did he know he couldn t find his
wife anywhere around the house. Panic overtook him and he didn t know what to do. He Decided that
he would look around the village and ask anyone if they had seen her.
Have you seen victora anywhere? ,he asked his neighbour and others who lived close by,but they all
replied with they same answer.
No I haven t seen hear or i m not sure. Nobody knew where she was . Everyone practically knew
Victora, they knew who she once was. They all loved her and they often stopped by to wish her well.
Sometimes they brought food. But this particular day, no one even offered to help george look for her.
Not only was he worried about my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sun was slowly starting to set as the forest was getting darker and darker. The walk wasn t as long
as He had thought it would be, but he felt weary. This village looked just like his home village, the
people were downcast and sad inside. He really wanted to get out of there as soon as he could. He
followed the map and easily found Lilith s house. As george got closer and closer to the door, I saw a
sign that said I can take it all away . He didn t know what that meant but he felt a sudden urgency and
he needed to get this over with. I knocked the door, and a lady who seemed to be in her early thirties
opened it. She had long white hair, but barely any wrinkles. She wore a long emerald green dress, and
her and had a beaded necklace . I asked her right away about my

The Controversy Of Bill Gates
How would you feel being one of the richest person in the whole world? You can t ask many people
questions like that because majority of the people are middle waged class ordinary people. Unlike a
man called Bill Gates who is among the few people who have reach an achievement far passed beyond
many people as being a multi billionaire. Monopoly is the exclusive possession or control of the
supply or trade in a commodity or service and even though Bill Gates is a smart man too he control
most of the market just because he didn t want any other competitor to be where he was. He had so
much control of the market that it was harmful so the department of justice and 19 states sent Bill
Gates and the whole microsoft team to court. Having so much ... Show more content on

Technology is the future from today until the day we die yet technology can have some issues. From
technology begin so powerful now we always ask yourself how can we make it better yet it s hard to
without anywhere to start. So we innovate from others and join them together to make one great
product/software. For example Apple recently released a phone called an iPHONE X but they got their
OLED screen from samsung and without them they could have never had have such an amazing
product. Yet they were only buying screen but Bill Gates would buy the whole company because of
their operating system and put it into his and not just with one company but with many. Which was
harming the market which is why the law had to come into this in order to control the

This interviewer was given the opportunity on several occasions to assist in the PerCo business office,
which is also my place of employment. This interviewer was able to gain first hand information
regarding the steps a small business practices to incorporate their business security plan. This
interviewer has chosen this small business due to the complexity that exists due to minimal
employees. In this business office there are only two employees, the Business Manager and the Clerk
that manage the functions of the business operation. The system they practice has been working well
for them for several years. In this report I will expand on each section according to the process method
they use such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card processes, board of directors, and
annual audits.

  • 2. The Theory Of Oedipus Complex Introduction The term Oedipal complex was initially used by Sigmund Freud as he developed a theory to explain the stages of psychosexual stages of development in an attempt to explain or describe the boy child feelings of attraction to the mother and anger and envy towards the father (Fear, 2005). Basically, the boy may feel like he is competing with the father for the belonging and possession of the mother. The boy sees the father as a threat for her affections, desires and attentions. In terms of the psychoanalytic theory, Oedipus complex may refer to the desire of a child to sexual engagement with a parent of opposite sex, specifically the boy s amatory concentration, attention and attraction to the mother. Freud argues that the complexity of Oedipus plays an imperative function in the stage of Phallic where a kid undergoes psychosexual growth. Freud also trusts that if the stage completes successfully and the child manages to involve himself or herself with a parent of opposite gender ultimately, this involvement leads to the development of a sexual identity that is mature. As this theory explains, the boy child admires to seize or possess the mother fully and if possible out do the father, who this child always sees as a great enemy of the mother s love. The Freud Oedipus complex usually happens or takes place in the phallic stage of the children between the ages of three to five years, who at this age undergoes psychosexual development. This stage in the real sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Renaissance Dbq Renaissance DBQ During the Renaissance time period, each man and woman needed to strive to meet the ideal image that was expected by society. If this image was not met, the person would be judged by society. Both males and females had different goals that they needed to meet in education, as well as in their lives. While there was an ideal image, some people disagreed with them. There was always a distinct role for both women and men, but within those roles, there could be controversy. The most controversy could occur over the education that the males and females were getting, there were clear roles and ideals for men and women in the beginning of the Renaissance time period, but as time went on, people became more skeptical of the ... (3) Castiglione had the ideal image in his mind of exactly what people needed to be and the way they should act. When he said this, it was greatly respected because of his writing of his well known conduct book. However, people began to veer away from this ideal of a needed education; it became a major change for society. Later on, in the Letter to the Parlement of Dijon concerning the reopening of a French Jesuit school, it was explicitly said that all men do not need an education. Some men need to do work that is not based off of education; they need to do the basics that make society properly function. The study of literature is appropriate only to a small minority of men. This statement explicitly says that an education is not for everyone, boldly going against Castiglione. (11) This was a bold statement to make, because it showed a drastic change in people s point of view of a proper man. Along with saying not all people needed to be educated, there was also the vast criticism of the school system and the way it was teaching. The concepts being learned in school needed to be more readily applied into real life situations, and this did not seem to be the true goal. • 5. Motivation And Management Theory Of Motivation Essay In order to understand motivation in an organization and how it affects its employees and management we must first understand what exactly motivation is. Motivation in an organization encourages employees to work efficiently and in the best interest of the company; as the manager of an organization one should start looking into why or how motivation is established. An organization will not be as successful if their employees are unmotivated and they will likely have a high turnover rate. This may be especially important in the upcoming years as more and more millennials begin to enter into the workforce. On average people switch job at least 10 15 times in their life and this trend is will mostly likely increase with millennials (Doyle). In my ethics class we discussed how kids of my generation will make big changes to the way organizations are run. Millennials may be motivated differently than the generation X workers. Motivation has continually evolved and now there are different strategies on how to motivate employees. Frederick Taylor, an engineer who pursued increasing efficiency in organizations, developed the scientific management theory of motivation. He wanted to be able to figure out the most efficient way to complete a task. He decided to break down tasks into the smallest possible units (Dininni). He focused on how much work could be done in a certain amount of time. Taylor s management theory asserts that organizations should identify the best way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mortal beings have always recognized their temporary state causing them to pleasure in their pretension. It gives them the audacity to think themselves high and exalted even if it is for a moment in time prior to becoming food for worms. Do you think any of them, after consuming you and picking their teeth, will comment how mighty you tasted? The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However, renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory. The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war. In 435 BC ... Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power. Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war. Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta) made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the Peloponnesian war. The first type are the landowning peasants from the hillside; they had small yet fertile land. The reasons they are titled peasants instead of farmers is because they didn t sell their crops for profit but rather use it to survive. But for these peasants to begin growing crops they had to have seeds which they often got from borrowing from wealthy aristocrats. When the time came for peasants to repay the aristocrats they often couldn t due to bad harvests, poor rationing etc. Then they, unfortunately, became enslaved by the wealthy to repay their debt with manual labor (page 54 paragraph 2). Parents would often give away their children to settle their debt since there were no laws preventing this unruly exchange. They were taken and made to cultivate the land of the aristocrats (page 54 paragraph 13). If one didn t have children to give they could also be exiled and sent to a foreign country. The second type of peasant were the sharecroppers, they lived in the plains and rented land from the aristocrats. Their crops were divvied with 1/6th paying for rent to the aristocrat, 1/6th as food for the animals, 1/3rd to feed their family and 1/3rd was saved as seeds for the next harvest. • 20. John Was Preaching Against Rome John was preaching against Rome in Revelation In the late first century a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, John of Patmos, received a vision of the end the world. John later wrote this vision down and his writing has come down to modernity as The Book of Revelation also known as The Apocalypse of John. When John wrote Revelation was he using it as a coded message to preach against Rome? In this vision, John saw many images that could be read as Rome or Roman if viewed from a historical context. Subsequent generations have interpreted the imagery within their own historical context. With this paper I will argue that Revelation pertains to the Roman world and culture that John and his followers were living in, the events in Judea that are thought to have occurred within his life time and that John used some of the same imagery to connect his writing to the Hebrew Bible. There are two main competing dates for the writing of Revelation, an early date of 69 70 and a later date of 90 92. The innovative minds of these people churned out inventions like gunpowder and the printing press, as well as, inventive new ways of thinking like the scientific method. • 40. Technology During The Twentieth Century Technology had a great influence on literature in the early twentieth century. This was the era of Women s Suffrage Movement and the Great War both of which had an impact on literature. The Women s Movement challenged long held ideals that men were superior in both mind and body, but more importantly, activists used technology to advance their cause. Five thousand women marched on Washington in order to gain media attention and support, and this coverage eventually led to the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment (Belasco and Johnson 489). World War I saw the use of modern warfare including chemical weapons and airplanes, tanks, and the machine gun. This technology made war more horrible and more complex than previous wars. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main reasons for anti Semitic collective violence was the fear of the outsider. Jews as the minority group were often seen as a threat to nationality, and attacking them became a symbolic way of strengthening patriotism during times of political upheaval. In Eastern Europe, the onset of the Russian Revolution meant that anything that was deemed un Russian was perceived as a threat. When examining the 1905 pogrom in Odessa it becomes clear that the political developments during 1905 created a polarization of political opinions . The course of actions leading to the pogrom, with riots and demonstrations either for or against the Tsarist regime created tension, eventually leading to the pogrom. Jewish resentment began with the belief that they were not contributing to the Russo Japanese war, and was strengthened by blaming Jews for being responsible for the cities disorders. It is clear that political unrest felt before the Russian Revolution worked as a trigger for attacking a group that was ideologically deemed an outsider and a threat.
