Lipase Lab Report
The enzyme lipase, is present in one s body, specifically found in an individual s pancreas, mouth, and
stomach. Lipase uses separate fats to break down any consumed foods, so that they can proceed and
be absorbed in the intestines. The body typically produces lipase naturally but in some cases, people
may need to use lipase supplements to assist them in digesting food. The test to measure the lipase
enzyme levels in your body is sometimes known as serum lipase. This test measures the amount of
lipase in your blood.
Lipase, like previously mentioned, is an enzyme found in your body. Because the average body
temperature is Thirty seven degrees Celsius, the optimal temperature where this enzyme can work its
best will most likely be around Thirty seven

Eagle Excellence Research Paper
What does Eagle Excellence mean for NCCU students? What does it look like? How do you know
when you have achieved it? Eagles excellence is a state of mind for NCCU students. It requires you to
put your full effort into whatever you are trying to achieve, and seize every opportunity to better
yourself professionally and socially. Furthermore Eagle Excellence is about representing yourself and
NCCU well in all our endeavors and to exude leadership, and proficiency in our work and community.

Eagle Excellence looks like students who are actively engaged with there classes and professors. We

How will you become better prepared to strengthen this weak area? I think I am most ready to

What Are The Major Challenges Facing Homeless Families
While many consider homelessness to vary in meaning, I consider homelessness to be when one lives
out in the elements of mother nature, no shelter at all. For this reason, no Beth and her children were
not homeless, they had protection from the elements. Major challenges that confront professionals
working with homeless families are: keeping in contact with the family and getting the best resources
for them. The first objective to working with a homeless family would be to get them stable living
conditions, a permanent address. With this, a professional would have an easier time at getting the
necessary resources this family needs. Such as, the necessities of life, food and shelter.
Resources which might help the homeless are: The HUD exchange,

Global Finite Element Matrix Construction Based on a...
Introduction
Many physical phenomena in stationary condition such as electrical and magnetic potential, heat
conduction, fluid flow and elastic problems in static condition can be described by elliptic partial
differential equations (EPDE). The EPDE does not involve a time variable, and so describes the steady
state of problems. A linear EPDE has the general form as presented in Eq. (1), where a,b,c are
coefficient functions, the term f is a source (excitation) function and u is the unknown variable. All of
this function can vary spatially (x,y,z).
∇(c∙∇u)+b∙∇u+au=f (1)
EPDE can be solved exactly by mathematical procedures like Fourier series [1]. However, the
classical solution frequently no exists and for those problems where is possible the use of these
analytical methods, many simplifications are done [2]. Consequently, several numerical methods have
been developed to efficiently solve EPDE such as the finite element method (FEM), finite difference
and others.
The FEM have several advantages over other methods. The main advantage is that it is particularly
effective for problems with complicated geometry using unstructured meshes [2]. One way to get a
suitable framework for solving EPDEs by using FEM is formulate them as variational problems also
called weak solution.
The variacional formulation of an EPDE is a mathematical treating for converting the strong
formulation to a weak formulation, which permits the approximation in elements or subdomains, and

Analysis Of Natsume Soseki s Kokoro
Natsume Soseki s Kokoro illustrates the struggles of a young man (the narrator) who was alienated
from his family and his loneliness as he pursues acceptance and love by building a friendship with an
elder. As a parallel to this, the elder (Sensei), sought an end to his social isolation through his love to a
woman whose qualities were not tainted by modernity. K, Sensei s childhood friend, had also hinted
his struggles in isolation as he tried to keep to his idealistic principles. This paper will analyze the
isolation and loneliness that was faced by the Japanese people during a period of significant
modernization and how they approached it and attempted to solve the conflict between tradition and
modernity.
Meiji Ishin was a time of revolution in 1868 that restored practical imperial order to Japan under
Emperor Meiji, thus reconstructing the government. Many people had high hopes in this new order of
government but the older generation was torn between their tradition and modernization. In Kokoro,
Sensei was a character that illustrated loneliness and isolation in his individual struggles with this
conflict. In the present, he said that he represented neither the new or old tradition but rather a
representation of a person who was caught in between the traditional belief and modern belief. Here I
quote, You see, I am an inconsistent person. This inconsistency may not be so much a natural part of
my character as the effect that the remembrance of my own past has had on

The Characteristics Of Robert Walton s Frankenstein
In the first few letters, opening the book, readers are introduced to the writer, Robert Walton, a sailor
with hopes of discovery. While addressing his letters to his sister, readers are able to follow Waltons
oceanic journey to the Arctic. In his letters he speaks of this journey, what ushers his passion to learn,
the story of his upbringing and his desire for a companion. Readers can see that he is not only driven,
and curious, but empathetic and lonesome as well.
Upon reading these quotes, it soon becomes clear that Frankenstein has a longing to retain
information. He is able to portray this educational longing through phrases such as having an eager
desire to learn, key word being eager. Frankenstein and I somewhat differ on our attitude towards
learning. I wish I was as motivated as he, but I lack the desire that steers him. I do desire education,
but just not to the extent that Frankenstein does. Not only does Frankenstein speak of having access to
a routine education, such as a school, but he also speaks of his ability to self teach himself. In order to
do so, he must have an immense amount of maturity and an ample amount of both independence and
self sufficiency. I only wish that I had these characteristics as strong as he.

Introduction: Hard water is a term used to refer to water which has high concentrations of magnesium,
calcium, and iron ions. (Lerner, 2014) In this experiment, concentrations of magnesium and calcium
ions were the main focus.
Water hardness is an important factor to consider because it has a great effect on the everyday lives of
people around the world. In most places, drinking hard water does not contribute a significant amount
of calcium or magnesium towards the recommended amount for the human diet, but it can in locations
where the drinking water is extremely hard. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Molar concentration is simply the number of moles of ions per liter of water. Parts per million is a
ratio of weights, and for every one part per million, there is 1 pound of solute for every million pounds
per liter. (Hardness)
EDTA titration, as well as AA (atomic absorption spectrophotometry) are two main ways in which
water hardness is measured. EDTA is performed by adjusting the pH of the water with the use of a
buffer, then adding an indicator to the solution, which will turn red if calcium ions are present. If only
magnesium is present in the solution, it will remain blue. Then an EDTA solution is added to the
solution. The complete reaction of all calcium and magnesium ions with the EDTA solution is
represented by the change in color of the solution from red to blue. (Thomson, 2014)AA, or atomic
absorption spectrophotometry, is performed by turning the water into an aerosol, which is then burned,
and the internal computer system of the machine uses the absorbance of light to provide a number
which corresponds to the concentration of ions in the water sample. (The Royal Society of Chemistry
Fine Chemicals and Medicinals Group). It is important to use more than one method to measure water
hardness, especially a method which relies mainly on the use of technology, to lower the possibilities
for human error, as well as to provide multiple values of hardness for comparison.
In order to remove the calcium and magnesium ions from water, it is put

Since, Cole has proven he has changed he should be allowed back to Circle Justice. Cole used to be
defiant and blame others for his actions. The text says, Cole figured he wouldn t even be here if Peter
Driscal had known how to fight back...Rage controlled Cole s hand as he drew back, pause for a split
second, and then flipped the lighted match inside the shelter. The quote shows how he used to be
rebellious and unwilling to take blame for his actions. The text stated, What had happened to the baby

Essay on Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie
Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie
When you first start reading Little House on the Prairie you notice it is told through the eyes of a little
girl named Laura. Her point of view is very realistic and captivating. She pays very close attention to
the details of the day to day living and the events that are happening around her. She also notices how
the prairie looks and what the weather is like each day. With her descriptions you can picture
everything in your mind clearly, and you feel like you are right there next to Laura living her life.
When Laura is describing something she appeals to our senses by informing you how something
smells, feels, sounds, or tastes. She describes how Ma makes their food and what ... Show more

First, he unhitched and unharnessed Pet and Patty, and he put them on their picket line. While Pet and
Patty were rolling, Pa pulled all the grass from a large, round space of ground. When the space was
clear of grass, Pa laid a handful of dry grass in its center. From the creek bottoms he brought an armful
of twigs and dead wood. He laid small twigs and larger twigs and then the wood on the handful of dry
grass, and he lighted the grass. Then Pa brought water from the creek, while Mary and Laura helped
Ma get supper (28, 29).
Another part of the story that Laura describes very deeply was when Pa built the log cabin, chimney,
and the well digging. You knew every step and how he did it and what he used to make everything. If
a person wanted to, they could probably build a log cabin or dig a well by her descriptions.
Laura enjoys describing the way the prairie looks each day because she loves it so much. She pays
close attention to the details of the flowers and grasses and how the wind is blowing. The animals on
the prairie are described often also since the prairie was full of wildlife back then. You often found her
describing the weather too. She found the weather on the prairie very interesting and quite different
than the weather in Wisconsin. Day after day was hotter then the day before. The wind was hot. The
grass was turning yellow. The whole world was rippling green and gold under the blazing sky. At noon
the wind died. No birds

The depiction of women in all forms of media, including print, broadcasted and internet media, is
constantly showing that they are the weaker of the two sexes. Gender. What is it? How does it make us
who we are? Are we dependent on it? So many questions derive from this one word, gender. Gender,
according to ITU is the social attributes and opportunities associated with being male and female .
There are so many different parts of the term gender and so many roles that each sex partakes in. One
role that I have noticed amongst every form of media, weather it is in books or in movies is that
women appear to be the weaker of the two sexes.

I think Disney is the obvious choice to blame for the portrayal of weak women. I mean, Disney
resolves around the idea that women need rescuing, that we are the damsels in distress. I, being 16,
grew up watching Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel. All those movies have the same common
motif, that one day my prince will come . In fact, the entire Disney princess movies collection seems
to have the same story line. The endings all had the same idea involving being rescued or saved by a
prince charming .
Another popular kid s movie that was created, that did have some hope for the depiction of women
was Shrek. The idea of the damsel in distress was turned on its head when Princess Fiona got the
shock of her life when the big ogre showed up to rescue her. Fiona went from being the damsel to the
sudden I m better than you attitude because Shrek didn t live up to the typical prince charming .
However Shrek lost this powerful message by the end of the movie and completely threw it in the bag
by the end of the third movie in the motion picture series when Fiona and Shrek got married and had a
family. Yeah, it was sweet and had the message that it is wrong to judge people solely by their
appearances alone, but it also showed the transformation that Fiona took to become perfect for Shrek.

Marge Piercy s Poem To Be Of Use
Through the means of literary devices, Marge Piercy, in her poem To Be of Use, expresses how one
should always persevere through life and do hard work. One shouldn t ever simply grumble about
their problem, but instead, treat each task with their best work. The author respects those who strain in
the mud and muck to move things forward . This particular quote is a purposeful example of
alliteration. Mud , and muck , as well as move , all sound similar, much like a tongue twister. Hence,
this forces the reader to slow down and focus on that, as if barrelling through the phrase like the hard

Student Teacher Relationship Is Imperative Essay
Student teacher relationship is imperative to student learning. Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may
remember, involve me and I learn is a quote by Benjamin Franklin, that explains how vital student
teacher rapport is to critical learning (Staff, A. H., 2016). It is central that students feel comfortable in
the classroom, and there is mutual respect between the teacher and students. For my fieldwork, I
observed student teacher relationship in two schools. One school, Alden Place Elementary School
holds grades 3rd 6th, and the other, Millbrook High School holds grades 9th 12th. They are both very
different in the sense that one includes high school students, and the other includes elementary
students.
My first student teacher rapport observation took place at Alden Place Elementary School. The school
is 50% male, 50% female, 85% white, 1% Asian or Native Hawaiian, 2% Multiracial, 3% Black or
African American, and 9% Hispanic or Latino. Alden Place has a 17% population of students with
disabilities, 1% population of English Language Learners, and lastly, 27% population of economically
disadvantaged students (Budget Information, 2016 2017). Alden place is located in a very good
neighborhood, with low crime ratings. Since both schools are located in the same district, there the

A History Of The English Church And People
When Bede was writing A History of the English Church and People the conflicts between Christians
and pagans were still not long a ago and Christianity was not yet as dominant in England as it would
be in the future. Therefore, the memories of these conflicts were still fresh within some people s minds
and Bede made sure to record it. Bede wrote the history of past events of Christianity s struggles, the
great men that protected it and enforced it. He wrote so that Christians would have an example on how
to act in order to achieve greatness, how to avoid sin and how to strengthen Christianity and the
Church itself in England. Bede thought that greatness is achieved only in one way and that was being
a good, devout Christian. He used the history of King Oswald s life as an example of what it meant to
be great and what are the rewards for achieving greatness. He wished everyone who read his history to
follow in Oswald s footsteps as he continuously mention in his written work history records good
things of good men, the thoughtful hearer is encouraged to imitate what is good . He gives many
examples of Oswald s deeds as a devout Christian, but his number one achievement was bringing the
faith to the lands of Bernicia. He came to Bernicia to fight heathen kings while at the same time
showing a great trust in God, as before the battle he set up a holy cross and made everyone in his army

Does IVF Cause Birth Defects?
Scientific development on reproduction and development have brought the concept of fertilization of
sperm and egg outside the human body which is called In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). It is the procedure
of manual fertilization by mingling an egg and sperm and then transferring the embryo to the uterus.
The procedure of IVF is ovary stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization and embryo transfer and
implantation. Many infertile couples can have babies through this reproductive technology. This
process of assisted reproductive technology in reproduction have been considered as very important
and valuable for those parents who are infertile. However, it is predicted that the use of IVF is
associated with an increased risk of developmental disabilities in the offspring. This is a very critical
and significant concern for those who are planning to have babies through IVF. So, I chose this
research topic to find out the dangers which are threatening infertile couple to use this method to have

Netflix And The Movie Rental Industry
Before becoming a force in the movie streaming and internet TV industry, Netflix was originally in
the movie rental industry. With competitors such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and
Redbox, Netflix rose to be the leading Internet provider for Internet television and streaming thus
forcing Blockbuster and Hollywood Entertainment out of business. With the transformation of
consumer viewing in the American television industry, Netflix has over 75 million members who
stream more than 125 million hours of television shows and movies per day (Statista, 2016). Their
repertoire includes movies and original series that allow consumers to view at anytime and on any
screen in which Internet connectivity to the Internet is provided. In addition, Netflix continues to
deliver DVDs within the United States to the homes of consumers.
One critical issue was that customers did not like the increased subscription fees (Parnell, 2014). Mr.
Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by
mail services and streaming services individually. Customers were not happy because this would
generate two different accounts to manage if customer had both services. Over 800,000 subscribers
canceled their subscriptions due to the proposed split.

Between China and NAFTAAmerican manufacturing has really been distressed. I found the video

think it would be great to gain some manufacturing jobs in America. New Albany used to be in the
biggest furniture making area in the U.S. When NAFTA and China started taking jobs it became a

products. A lot of their products come out of the box with defects. Customer service has basically went

that they were required to have some extent of customer service. That was a big reason the reshored

Federalist No.10’s Faction and Direct Vs. In Direct Democracy
In Federalist No.10, James Madison discusses his theories about faction. In doing this, he persuades
the new Constitution and how it should be enacted. He believed factions were the number one cause
of the failure of the Articles of Confederation. The definition of a faction is a group of people forming
a minority group within a larger group, to seek some goal within a political party or government.
Madison describes faction differently in Federalist No.10, but in actuality the definitions have the
same meaning. Madison s definition is derived from a listing of requirements. Requirement number
one indicates that factions are determined by the number of citizens. Citizens of a government share a
common interest which makes them a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In doing so, he proposes that the government should regulate the interest of society so faction is not
easily formed. Regulation should be the legislature s principal task in creating a more united society.
Without focus on principal tasks, Madison describes how chaotic the faction can become. To prevent
this, the government should be an empowered body of people, who come together to make and change
laws. No one person should have to the power to judge their own opinions. Giving a person the power
of judging themselves can cause many bias, and therefore being inactive. There is no cure for faction.
Madison explains that the only way to deal with causes of faction is by controlling its effects. This is
where the constitution comes into play, providing security of the public good and the rights of other
citizens. To assure constitution, democracy is enacted to form a more civilized community governed
by the people. The way democracy is organized is determined by the ideas of being direct or indirect.
Direct Democracy is defined by people as a whole who make direct decisions, rather than having
decisions made by other representatives. In Madison s Federalist No.10 he states, a pure democracy
can admit of no cure for the mischief s of factions

With the ever growing number of shootings, the death rate due to firearms has intensified. Thus, the
controversy over gun control has caused society to push the government to re evaluate the regulation
of firearms in the United States. Hence, in order to keep and provide a safe environment for American
citizens without fear of death by firearm, the government should regulate firearms.

rate by firearms. In the state of Wyoming, firearm sellers are not required to check gun owner

That is to say, there is little to no gun regulations in Wyoming giving it the number one spot in the
highest gun related deaths. On the other hand, Massachusetts has the laws that regulate the possession,
sale, and use of firearms and ammunition. Once the applicant has sent in their application for a guns

My Friend To A Friend
Mother and Father,
First off, I just want to say that thank you. Thank you for giving me everything I ever needed, wanted,
asked for, and desired. Thank you for giving me an amazing childhood and working so hard in order
to let me have a wonderful life and pick the college of my choosing. Thank you for loving me
unconditionally, supporting me, and always being there for me. You both truly are the greatest, but
there has always been one thing I have wanted something I have asked for many times but to no avail.
I think now is a perfect time to bring up the matter because I am older and you guys need a new friend
to keep you company on those long months when I am away. I would like to bring up the discussion of
getting a dog once again. Maybe you will huff in frustration due to my constant nagging on the subject
or smile at my determination or simply ignore this subject completely. But I still would like to bring
up this subject because I think a dog could benefit the whole family. I am going to take a big breath
and discuss all of the benefits that a dog would bring to our loving family.
To begin, getting a dog would mean adding an extra friend to our family. Getting a dog would mean
always having a friendly, furry, furiously wagging tailed friend smile at you every time you walk in
the house. The joy and excitement that our dog will show you every time you come home from a long
days work will help you guys relax and be excited to spend the rest of the day with your furry

Muslims Women’s Rights to Practice Their Religion Essays
There is a huge controversy about the hijab in some countries; France, Turkey and Tunisia are the
most recognized countries in banning the hijab. France is not like other countries that allow the hijab;
it rejects the whole idea of wearing headscarves. France bans Muslim women who wear the hijab from
going to schools or even having jobs. In the Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran, women are
forced to wear head scarves. Other countries like Turkey and Tunisia ban whoever female works in the
education field from covering her head. The hijab is a symbol of being Muslim, and it should it be left
to the Muslim women to wear it or not.
French, Turkish, and Tunisian should ask themselves the question, why do we have Muslims here?

That does not mean that Islam makes discrimination between the two genders like the French think.
They have to be liberated from these ideas. The wearing of the hijab is the equivalent of someone
walking with a sandwich board proclaiming that men and women are not equal, said Sandrine
Mazetier, a Paris deputy who handles immigration for the Socialist Party in the National Assembly
(Sachs 2). How can important and educated people in France think like this ignorant way? Islamic
scholars think it s enough to wear modest clothes. It s acceptable to wear headscarves, but not going
beyond that and wearing naqib or burqa.
France also discriminates against Muslim women who wear the hijab. They do not allow them to enter
schools. They put this law of banning the hijab in 2994 law prohibition inside schools (Esposito 265).
On the other hand, they permit other religious people to practice their religions. They allow Roman
Catholic students wearing a crucifix, Protestant students wearing a cross, Jewish male students
wearing a skullcap (Muslim Headscarves 1). This law is not only for schools, but also for jobs. They
dismiss these Muslim women from their jobs. This law has impacted their families. Some of these
women do not have fathers, brothers, or husbands to help them get money. In this case, they have to
work to feed whoever they are responsible for. Where are human rights that France always talks
about? Or is it only a phrase that France uses to

Genetic Disease And The Medical World
Genetics plays a large role in the medical world, specifically when dealing with disease. Some genetic
diseases remain a mystery as to their specific origins, but this only highlights the importance of
continued research and an accurate and complete knowledge of one s family medical history. This
paper will cover one inherited genetic disease for which there is no cure, Fatal Familial Insomnia (
Self management of Fatal Familial Insomnia. Part 1: What is FFI? , 2006, p. 65). This particular
disease was chosen due to its severity, swiftness with which it ends life, and its ability to exist
undetected without symptoms for decades unless one s family history is known. Fatal Familial
Insomnia, (FFI), is a neurodegenerative prion disease classified as a Transmissible Spongiform
Encephalopathy, (TSE), meaning that it is genetically transmitted (Belay, 1999, p. 284). FFI is
autosomal dominant (Xie et al., 2013, p81 90), meaning that an individual with A or AA alleles, a
component of a gene pair, could carry this gene (Ireland, 2013). The capital, A or AA , denotes a
dominant genetic trait (Ireland, 2013). The carrier will usually only present with one mutated gene and
one normal gene in these cases which would be symbolized as, Aa , meaning the genotype is
heterozygous, one dominant coded allele and one recessive (Ireland, 2013). Due to this 50 50
presentation of the gene itself, the likelihood of passing an autosomal dominant disorder or gene to
offspring is also 50 50. The

Robotics Impact On Healthcare
ROBOTICS IMPACT ON HEALTHCARE Robotics can be virtual and/or mechanical objects that we
use in everyday activities. Even though robots have been around since 1960 s. In the healthcare field
we have become more dependent upon them since the 1980 s. Robots have been used to assist people
in varies everyday task in laboratories and operating rooms. Some examples their usage are
intervention with giving medication, assisting kids with autism, transferring and lifting patients.
Although robots have made some of the healthcare fields task easier there can be questions with such
technology which can impact ethical policy and non human touch. In addition to providing hands on
patient care, robots can also help lift patients. Some Japanese inventors created the Robot for
Interactive Body Assistance . This robot is used to transport patients weighing up to 134 lbs. to
bedsides and wheelchairs using built in sensors and foam support technology (Dean, 2009). In
America researchers have tested robot called a Nursebot on elderly patients, this was not very
effective. The problems with the Nursebot was it s ability to perform task such as giving patients bath
or help change the patients. The Nursebot was however able to remind patients when to take
medications or help them to move around as to not strain the elderly person. In the 1990 s robots were

Employee Benefits Plan

April 29, 2013
Abstract
A plan administrator for employee benefits has the task of assessing the needs of the employees of the
organization. To do this, the administrator has the daunting task of identifying those needs in terms of
internal and external factors, as well as comparing costs for the contemplated benefits so that they
meet with the organization s budget. Once all data is compiled it is then presented to upper
management for approval. The next step is to communicate the benefit package to the employees. An
carefully designed benefit plan is a strategic plan in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A benefit plan can also include bonuses, service awards and reimbursement of tuition expense.
Employers that offer optional benefits will need to do its due diligence and acquire as much
information on the different types of medical plans available to purchase for the benefit of its
employees. Employers might chose to go with the Traditional indemnity plan that allows the employee
to choose their own physician, has a deductible, a coinsurance percentage, usually 80 paid by the
medical plan and the employee paying the remaining 20%. A health maintenance organization (HMO)
plan provide health care for the member using a network of hospital and physicians. Comprehensive
benefits include preventive care, well baby care and immunizations. This plan is less expensive, due to
the fact that the employee must stay within the network, giving him a limited choice in the choice of
physicians and treatment. The preferred provider organization (PPO) falls between conventional
insurance and HMO s. There is not network of physicians to choose from, you can see the doctor you
prefer. PPO s are more expensive than HMO s. A cafeteria plan is designed for the employee to choose
the level of coverage that best meets the needs of the employee and his family and at the same have
control over the overall benefit costs. Employees who choose the cafeteria plan do so because they
want to meet their personal needs, such as medical cover for to include family, tax reduction

Subaru took a bold and very risky move in 2005 by upping the STI s engine from a 2.0L engine to a
2.5L. Although it may not sound like a large increase, it proved to be just what Subaru needed to keep
the fire burning when it came to their continuous wins in rally tournaments. The new and improved
STI now sported a 2.5L turbocharged flat 4 engine, now pulling a little over 300 horsepower at stock.
The EVO did manage to hold up surprisingly well to the new STI while only having a 2.0L
turbocharged engine; however, The STI, on the other hand, does not disappoint in that area. Power
from the Subaru s larger 2.5 liter turbocharged flat 4 comes in early and seems to stay fairly linear
where the Evo s power kicks in abruptly. The STI has consistently offered more popularity among car
enthusiasts due to its larger and more powerful turbocharged engine that pulls more boost, torque, and
horsepower over the EVO. The car culture and community around the STI has continuously increased
due to its increased power and pizazz then the EVO that can hold up with the STI, but doesn t offer the
immense power STI owners have come to love. The 6 speed transmission of the STI proved to be of a
crucial benefit as it allowed for better control over the driver s car due to the less limiting gear ranges.

Premillennialist Belief In Rapture
The fact that there exist various narratives concerning the topic of apocalypse invites the notion that
there is a great number of people desiring the end of the world. Why would somebody be desirous of
terminating the world s existence? Despite the fact that the end of the world has a dark, uncanny,
irredeemably, and desperate tone to it, one has to consider its consequences. Therefore, the evangelical
protestantism belief in the rapture offers a solution to the otherwise unsatisfactory or even nonexistent
future. Dispensational premillennialists think of themselves as being designated to spread the idea of
rapture; which conveys that Christ will come to earth in order to take the true believers to heaven.
True believers are worthy of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rapture in this case is a synonym for escape; an escape from a world true believers are
undeservingly trapped in. The question that emerges while analyzing rapture is whether true believers
are utterly freed from desires in heaven. Humans are determined to desire something and therefore it
appears unlikely that after being taken to heaven, these desires completely vanish. Another reason for
apocalyptic desire in terms of the rapture is hope for a better life. People that feel incomplete, that
cannot bear competition, that are harrassed or even people that are alone may desire to be taken away
from a miserable place. God s existence and his presence in heaven would save them. Faith and hope
motivate discontented people to cope with everyday life. Furthermore Crawford Gribben explains that:
[...] dispensational premillennialism appealed to those evangelicals dissatisfied with the theological
prevarications of mainstream Protestantism, as well as those, [...], whose disappointment with the
possibilities of mission work was both a cause and a consequence of their increasingly pessimistic
millennial point of view. (Gribben 5) The irony of his statement nevertheless is that in terms of a
pessimistic millennial point of

United States Dollar
Lufthansa
Lufthansa
Lufthansa
In January 1985, a German company that uses Deutschmarks made a large purchase from a U.S.
company that uses U.S. dollars, and needed to evaluate the best hedging alternatives to secure the least
possible cost. The Chairman of Lufthansa, Herr Heinz Ruhnau, purchased twenty 737 jets from
Boeing. The total purchase price was $500,000,000, which was payable in U.S. dollars on delivery of
the aircrafts in one year.
Chairman Ruhnau chose a partial cover by hedging 50% of the exposure with forward contracts,
which was $250 million at the one year forward rate of DM3.2/$. He left the remaining 50% ($250
million) uncovered.
Due to this decision, Lufthansa paid DM225,000,000 more than if Ruhnau would have ... Show more

Scenario 3: The U.S. dollar may decrease
Even though Ruhnau and many others expected the U.S. dollar to decrease, there was no way of
knowing with absolute certainty that would come to fruition and how much it would actually fall.
Ruhnau needed to make a decision with the information he had.
Forecasting
There are various forecasting techniques, which include the Efficient Markets Approach, the
Fundamental Approach, and the Technical Approach. Even if Ruhnau researched and followed these
methods, they would still not predict with certainty the future U.S. dollar rate. They would either
confirm or counter his expectations and he would need to make a decision without being able to
accurately predict the future exchange rate. There are also other factors that could dramatically affect
the U.S. dollar or German Deutschmark, such as unexpected events which could make significant
impacts in appreciation or depreciation.
Necessity, Timing, and Purchase Price
In the 1980 s, Lufthansa increased the number of non stop connections and more dense route networks
(History). The aircraft purchase could have been necessary at this time because the aircrafts could be
used for expansion or growth. Potential sales from expansion opportunities of adding new flight

Essay On Cambodian Refugees
When I was young I remember moving cities and I thought it was going to be the end of the world for
me. One of the thoughts that always went through my mind was what if I do not fit in? or will I be
able to make any friends? Luckily for me I was able to speak English and I knew I could communicate
with people if I had to. This was not the case for Cambodian refugees when they moved to the United
States because the Khmer Rouge was attacking Cambodia. Thousands of people moved to the United
States and many of these people were kids who did not have a saying whether they wanted to stay or
come with their parents because they could not take care of themselves. Many of these kids are now
suffering because they fell into the wrong crowds and committed a crime when they were young and

Comparing The Crucible, And Les Miserables
Today, children are taught to forgive others and give second chances. But this was not always the case.
Historically, once someone had committed a crime they were thought of as dishonorable people and it
was made known to others that they had committed a sin. This is seen in many literary works
including The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Les Miserables. Les Miserables, originally written by
Victor Hugo, exemplifies this prejudice. Throughout the story, the characters can not escape the
prejudice related to one mistake, or perceived mistake. In the movie version directed by Bille August,
Jean Valjean and Fantine are unable to receive forgiveness and move on with their lives. When Jean
Valjean is released from prison, he understands the bias he is going to face in the real world.

arrests her and tells Valjean and Fantine that she is in the wrong. Javert believes that Fantine is always
going to be a prostitute and should be put in prison.
Throughout the movie Les Miserables directed by Bille August, Paris is shown as an unforgiving
society in the late 1700 s and early 1800 s. Once a person has done something wrong, they will never
be trustworthy citizens, or even a part of society. The cruel nature of society is on display by the
prejudice shown by Javert to both Fantine and Jean

Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman
When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators
consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as
pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being
considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed
simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a
specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has
proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for
literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The
Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all
curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse
nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of
the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of
word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words
allot. For visual learners that struggle with reading compression, the visual components of graphic
novels help portray the context in a medium that is easier for these learners to digest. Maus by Art
Spiegelman is one of

Drug Use And The Therapeutic Treatment Of Drug Addiction
I. Hypothesis
It commonly believed that over time, the effects of drug related cues increases the efficacy of relapse.
To this end, the researchers are looking to key brain chemicals to aid in the therapeutic treatment of
drug addiction. A main concern is how can drug related cues be counteracted or reduced in patients
prone to relapse. In one study, investigators found that drug use and relapse involves learned
associations between drug associated discrete and contextual cues and drug taking... (Bossert,
Marchant, Calu, Shaham, 2013). This is further corroborated by data suggesting with repeated drug
use, an attentional bias occurs (Jasinska, Stein, Kaiser, Naumer, Yalachkov, 2014). As a result, drug
cues take over perceptual, cognitive and memory processes. This produces a priming effect,
essentially putting the addict in a state of drug seeking readiness. We predict that when presented with
certain contextual cues associated with drug use, they will trigger a drug seeking response in drug
addicted individuals when compared to the control. We also theorize that time of day will have an
effect on the intensity of the drug seeking response.
II. Methodology
A. Subjects
We will recruit 30 individuals currently seeking drug treatment for cocaine addiction for a two day

Euthyphro, By Plato The Main Idea That Comes Up Is...

PHIL 3500
Chrisoula Andreou In Euthyphro, by Plato the main idea that comes up is socratic ignorance.
Euthyphro argues that he is the self proclaimed expert on the subject of piety and impiety. I could
argue in the position that, Euthyphro is claiming expertise in a subject that he doesn t know enough
about. This socratic ignorance is the idea of the dialogue. I have decided to take an extra argument in
this paper. I argue there is ignorance in both Socrates and Euthyphro. Although it s more difficult to
prove, I explain the situations of piety and impiety and how it is relative to each person and the time
period of the discussion. Bringing the background situation to show claims made by Euthyphro and
lack of evidence provided in this dialogue. The supporting claims I share after are on Euthyphro s side
of conversation. This determines his thoughts, on the definition of piety and unspoken details that I

A Streetcar Named Desire By Blanche Dubois
The character of Blanche Dubois in the play A Streetcar Named Desire is depicted as a victim of her
traditional southern upbringing, she struggles to find her place in society where the values of a
Southern Belle are no longer relevant nor exist. Blanche Dubois is portrayed as the weaker sex, who is
then over powered by Stanley Kowalski, her sister s working class husband. Blanche Dubois shows a
great psychological instability when she is unable to live up to the expectations of a classic and proper
Southern Belle. This psychological instability ultimately leads to her to have a metal breakdown, the
play ends with Blanche being committed to a mental institution.
Blanche Dubois was raised on the social standard of Southern Belle and her primary goal in life was,
according to Southern tradition, was to seek the security of marriage. Unfortunately, she chooses
suitors who are not the best companions. Blanche marries Allan Grey for love at a very young age
only to find her dreams shattered by her husband s infidelity with another man. Blanche displays deep
seated psychological instability when she is unable to live up to her expectations as a properly raised
Southern belle and also by Stanley s brutally raping of her, which was to exert his domination over a
female victim.
To understand Blanch Dubois mental state, we must understand the ideology of the Southern Belle.
Southern belles were raised as sheltered, beautiful, and chaste daughters to become idyllically

Compare And Contrast Alternative And Alternative Medicine
Alternative medicine refers to the practices that are different from the conventional approach in the
field of medicine. Usually, the methods used in alternative medicine got its founding principles on the
philosophies that are opposite of those in modern day medicine. In addition, it also integrates the use
of spiritual practices, new approaches, or pre modern medical traditions in the healing process.
Alternative health care is a holistic way of caring for our body, mind and spirit. It is called alternative
because it offers a way of caring for our health that is not conventional or what we are used to in the
Western world. In the Western world caring for our health is done mostly by the administration of
medicines, many of which are synthetic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But with the advent of these drugs we gradually forgot alternative health care in favor of conventional
medicine. One reason was that conventional medicine was fast and predictable. You do not have to
search for the herb and boil it and make a concoction out of it. You just go to the drugstore, present the
prescription your doctor gave you, receive the medicine from the pharmacist or his/her aide and pay
for it. Upon reaching home, you just take the medicine. It is so convenient.
But the recent experience of people taking conventional drugs is that they may lead to dependence on
these drugs and larger doses may be required upon subsequent intakes. Furthermore there are bad
effects in taking these drugs. These happen especially with antibiotic drugs. So people began to look
for alternative ways of healing, one that is not heavily dependent on synthetic drugs and one that heals
body, soul and spirit so that the person really become whole.
Some of the methods of alternative health care may be enumerated

That audience is the intersection of people who like video games and people who like action stories
with deep character development. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center study, 49% of American
adults play video games (PEW STUDY page 1). An oddity between the genders is also seen as the
roles reverse for different age groups. Among 18 29 year olds 77% of men and 57% of women play,
while the percentages are almost the same between genders for ages 30 49, and then for 50 and older
38% of women play while only 29% of men do (PEW STUDY page 2). This means that there are
about 118 million Americans who are potential customers (reference.com) In addition, according to
the Entertainment Software Association, 11.4% of all video games sold in 2015 were story based role
playing games, which came to 1.88 billion dollars in total sales. In the industry, Bioware has a
reputation for deep character development, strong male and female characters, good humor, and
engaging plots. On their webstite, Twitter, and Facebook pages, Bioware is attempting to display at
least some of those aspects to their target

Kingdom of God
What exactly is the kingdom of God? How does one recognize the kingdom? Are you in the kingdom
of God? So often, people search for the evidence of the kingdom of God rather than simply identifying
it. In the present day, the stress is evasively put on works and actions rather than a personal
relationship with God. Too many people fall into the trap of participating in as many activities as they
can, living to have their good deeds noticed by others; however, the key point is entirely missed. It is
the innermost intimate part of a person that divulges the power of an individual s life, not the actions.
Jesus makes this clear in the book of Luke when he states, The kingdom of God is not coming with
things that can be observed; nor will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This passage contrasts the present and the future magnificence of the kingdom, which is constantly
growing.
The kingdom of God includes everyone: the poor, the gentiles, the outcast, the oppressed, the women,
Samaritans, tax collectors, the sick, and the sinners. Jesus states that the blind receive their sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought
to them (Lk. 7:22). If you take this out of the context of which it was written and it may not seem like
a very big deal that some of these groups of people would be included in the kingdom of God, but in
reality, Jesus caused a lot of controversy through focusing on these neglected and oppressed people.
The possession of illnesses and sin created a greater sense of desperation within the people, this
allowed more room for grace to abound in their lives and explains the reason why miracles took place
in their lives more often than the rich and prestigious upper class. A significant aspect of Jesus
teaching was setting people free from sin and giving them dominion over evil (Drane 149). Jesus
constantly breaks down social barriers and places heavy emphasis on going against the social
boundaries that separate the people.
Jesus completely redefines the role of Jewish women, which Luke draws special attention to this
throughout his book. In the Bible, women were of little to no value. They were

Pleasure And Pain By Susan Boyd Summary
Name Rakshanda Amit
Student Id 43997333
Word Count 866
Usually, when you think about the term drug, you may assume that it is an unpleasant substance that
poses an undesired experience. As the individual grows, he is warned by parents at home, relatives in
society, and teachers in school about the most dangerous and destructive consequences of drug use.
Nowadays, these messages have been conveyed through the media and film industry. But years back,
these entertainment platforms were showing drugs to be a pleasurable substance. Moreover, these
platforms sometimes stereotype the people who take drugs.
Susan Boyd, the author, is recognized for composing the article Pleasure and Pain that creates a
representation of addiction, trafficking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the media did not mean to be racist but they are highly influencing the peoples mind and
their perception about the consumption of drugs.
The next thing Boyd researches is the time of rock and roll. After watching one of the three films she
mentioned. He figured that the main lead in the film who uses drugs was portrayed in the positive.
They did not fully go against of what Boyd has believed. The main protagonist used to do drugs and
did found pleasure in doing it, but he did it because he did not want to collapse in the norm of society.
He also did to improve his life through drug dealing as he wanted a way where he could make money
easily and quickly.
During 1970 s there was a big change in the industry of entertainment. This was the time where the
African Americans were becoming a part of the working class. During this time, there were some
social and political changes which were occurring due to the Black Panther Party and also because of
the civil rights movement. Boyd discusses a movie called Superfly (1972). This movie shows the real
condition of poor black people in New York City. How they were not getting work and because of
which they had to smuggle drugs for their living. However, this film disagrees with Mandelson s
opinion. According to him, majority of people in his films were nonwhite people but there has been
some appearance of the policeman who are shown as the most corrupt and violent people in the

Billy Budd And Invisible Man Essay
There are many ways to interpret a book, one can read it as a character s adventure, a conflict of ideas
or emotions, or a story. For myself, I read the books, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and Billy Budd,
Sailor by Herman Melville, in an ironic sense; and while doing this, I noticed that both books showed
an intuitive sense of sociology. Furthermore, what mattered most by reading the books ironically is
that it is easy to see the outcome of a situation which is pleasing to be conscious of. It is easy to see
the outcome of a situation because when one is paying attention to a character, one s attention is
toward a character, except when one s attention is on an entire situation, one s attention is on the flow
of events and then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are 3 notable examples from Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison that support this observation
directly:
1) The huge chaotic fight between the invisible man evokes this observation. First, for assistance in
recollection, the author focuses on more than one person. The descriptions and choppy dialogue
conveys a sense of confusion because not one person had any idea what was going on. Despite this,
the main character fights then goes on and wins an award even though , I suppose, this situation which
can be classified as madness by Georges Polti should have ended in contemplation. However, he
delivers a speech after the fight and the chapter ends in peace somehow. I felt I could see the situation
unfold just by reading.
Secondly, as a corollary, this case is an example of C1 to C2... CN (Invisible man to everyone else).
Also, it is an example of the classified transition: chaos to order followed by an example of
perception: tolerance of chaos is necessary to reach resolution.
2) The banter from Golden day is to be noted so it can be used as support. It was clear that Mr. Norton
and Invisible man were consumed by the craziness that day. That is probably why the Invisible man
had a hard time taking care of Norton s illness . Another reason is that no one could see him because
Golden day had a lot of bright colors like when looking at a picture of the Taj Mahal, no one notices
the black cross on the top (even though it is

Question 2.
Use an extended example to critically discuss how a company s annual report and accounts are useful
in understanding and analyzing its market, productive and financial performance.
Annual report and accounts like the income statement, the cash flow statement and the balance sheet,
are financial accounting statement. They comprise numerical data over the past year and indicate the
company s prospect for future financial performance. The information would allow user groups to
understand and analyse the company s performance and to make decisions of their own interests.
Through looking at the annual reports and accounts of Nokia, I ll explain how the report can be useful

Let s compare the figures in chart 1.6 and 1.7; in 2007, Nokia s had a market share of 35.1% in the
China mobile phone market (2G) which dominated the market. But in 2009, its market share dropped
by 7% to 28.4%. Although Nokia s sales in China have increased, but the rate of increase of its sales is
slower than the market itself, hence the decrease on market shares. Like the CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekka
Kallasvuo said in 2010, the global market has continued to grow at a healthy pace; the only problem
for Kallasvuo is that while the market might be growing at a healthy pace, Nokia s sales aren t. Since
resources are limited, it is vital to maximize output using the least amount of labour and capital. Like
measuring market performance, we can use data on the annual report to measure a company s
productive performance physically and financially.

Technology over time will reduce demand for jobs, particularly at the lower end of skill set. ... 20
years from now, labor demand for lots of skill sets will be substantially lower (Bort). This is not for
only simple jobs. On such example of discovery, which is where a lawyer has to search through

of lawyering, as well as estimating the risk of lawsuits. These are all things computers are naturally

But in the 21st century, if we find more affordable and accessible ways of doing so, we should
embrace them rather than reject them (Susskind). In an interview with Therese Breza, a nurse in the
healthcare system, she countered with the belief that human interaction is a vital part of healthcare,
and that her patients and people she has worked with value such interactions. However, with the
increasing complexity of healthcare and possibility of unncessary or even dangerous treatments,
Susskind s countering that the most valuable part of professional experience is the professional
knowledge means that machines that are always learning from each other and studies and effects of
medicine on other medicines or humans shows that the supposedly valuable part of healthcare can still
be present in the form of being a sort of front for a much more data heavy treatment plan managed by
the most up to date and consistent methods in medical science, and humans can carry out what is
needed. While the incentive so automate specialists such as surgeons is low, and not all doctors will go
away, if a tablet has an app that is as good as a doctor, the security of such a profession will fall
dramatically. There is an opinion that just as the mechanization of manual labor led to people moving
into more intellectual jobs, that then the automation of intellectual jobs will free up people to work on
creative pursuits. The only way to

  • 2. Lipase Lab Report The enzyme lipase, is present in one s body, specifically found in an individual s pancreas, mouth, and stomach. Lipase uses separate fats to break down any consumed foods, so that they can proceed and be absorbed in the intestines. The body typically produces lipase naturally but in some cases, people may need to use lipase supplements to assist them in digesting food. The test to measure the lipase enzyme levels in your body is sometimes known as serum lipase. This test measures the amount of lipase in your blood. Lipase, like previously mentioned, is an enzyme found in your body. Because the average body temperature is Thirty seven degrees Celsius, the optimal temperature where this enzyme can work its best will most likely be around Thirty seven ... What Are The Major Challenges Facing Homeless Families While many consider homelessness to vary in meaning, I consider homelessness to be when one lives out in the elements of mother nature, no shelter at all. For this reason, no Beth and her children were not homeless, they had protection from the elements. Major challenges that confront professionals working with homeless families are: keeping in contact with the family and getting the best resources for them. The first objective to working with a homeless family would be to get them stable living conditions, a permanent address. With this, a professional would have an easier time at getting the necessary resources this family needs. Such as, the necessities of life, food and shelter. • 5. Global Finite Element Matrix Construction Based on a... Introduction Many physical phenomena in stationary condition such as electrical and magnetic potential, heat conduction, fluid flow and elastic problems in static condition can be described by elliptic partial differential equations (EPDE). The EPDE does not involve a time variable, and so describes the steady state of problems. A linear EPDE has the general form as presented in Eq. (1), where a,b,c are coefficient functions, the term f is a source (excitation) function and u is the unknown variable. All of this function can vary spatially (x,y,z). ∇(c∙∇u)+b∙∇u+au=f (1) EPDE can be solved exactly by mathematical procedures like Fourier series [1]. However, the classical solution frequently no exists and for those problems where is possible the use of these analytical methods, many simplifications are done [2]. Consequently, several numerical methods have been developed to efficiently solve EPDE such as the finite element method (FEM), finite difference and others. The FEM have several advantages over other methods. The main advantage is that it is particularly effective for problems with complicated geometry using unstructured meshes [2]. One way to get a suitable framework for solving EPDEs by using FEM is formulate them as variational problems also called weak solution. The variacional formulation of an EPDE is a mathematical treating for converting the strong formulation to a weak formulation, which permits the approximation in elements or subdomains, and the EPDE ... • 6. Analysis Of Natsume Soseki s Kokoro Natsume Soseki s Kokoro illustrates the struggles of a young man (the narrator) who was alienated from his family and his loneliness as he pursues acceptance and love by building a friendship with an elder. As a parallel to this, the elder (Sensei), sought an end to his social isolation through his love to a woman whose qualities were not tainted by modernity. K, Sensei s childhood friend, had also hinted his struggles in isolation as he tried to keep to his idealistic principles. This paper will analyze the isolation and loneliness that was faced by the Japanese people during a period of significant modernization and how they approached it and attempted to solve the conflict between tradition and modernity. Meiji Ishin was a time of revolution in 1868 that restored practical imperial order to Japan under Emperor Meiji, thus reconstructing the government. Many people had high hopes in this new order of government but the older generation was torn between their tradition and modernization. In Kokoro, Sensei was a character that illustrated loneliness and isolation in his individual struggles with this conflict. In the present, he said that he represented neither the new or old tradition but rather a representation of a person who was caught in between the traditional belief and modern belief. Here I quote, You see, I am an inconsistent person. This inconsistency may not be so much a natural part of my character as the effect that the remembrance of my own past has had on ... While addressing his letters to his sister, readers are able to follow Waltons oceanic journey to the Arctic. In his letters he speaks of this journey, what ushers his passion to learn, the story of his upbringing and his desire for a companion. Readers can see that he is not only driven, and curious, but empathetic and lonesome as well. Upon reading these quotes, it soon becomes clear that Frankenstein has a longing to retain information. He is able to portray this educational longing through phrases such as having an eager desire to learn, key word being eager. Frankenstein and I somewhat differ on our attitude towards learning. I wish I was as motivated as he, but I lack the desire that steers him. I do desire education, but just not to the extent that Frankenstein does. Not only does Frankenstein speak of having access to a routine education, such as a school, but he also speaks of his ability to self teach himself. In order to do so, he must have an immense amount of maturity and an ample amount of both independence and self sufficiency. I only wish that I had these characteristics as strong as he. • 8. The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Emily Schwarz 12 November 2014 The Chemistry of Natural Waters Section: 106 Group Members: Shaily Shah, James Shank, Aaron Selnick TA: Natalie Petrillo Introduction: Hard water is a term used to refer to water which has high concentrations of magnesium, calcium, and iron ions. (Lerner, 2014) In this experiment, concentrations of magnesium and calcium ions were the main focus. Water hardness is an important factor to consider because it has a great effect on the everyday lives of people around the world. In most places, drinking hard water does not contribute a significant amount of calcium or magnesium towards the recommended amount for the human diet, but it can in locations where the drinking water is extremely hard. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Molar concentration is simply the number of moles of ions per liter of water. Parts per million is a ratio of weights, and for every one part per million, there is 1 pound of solute for every million pounds per liter. (Hardness) EDTA titration, as well as AA (atomic absorption spectrophotometry) are two main ways in which water hardness is measured. EDTA is performed by adjusting the pH of the water with the use of a buffer, then adding an indicator to the solution, which will turn red if calcium ions are present. If only magnesium is present in the solution, it will remain blue. Then an EDTA solution is added to the solution. The complete reaction of all calcium and magnesium ions with the EDTA solution is represented by the change in color of the solution from red to blue. (Thomson, 2014)AA, or atomic absorption spectrophotometry, is performed by turning the water into an aerosol, which is then burned, and the internal computer system of the machine uses the absorbance of light to provide a number which corresponds to the concentration of ions in the water sample. (The Royal Society of Chemistry Fine Chemicals and Medicinals Group). It is important to use more than one method to measure water hardness, especially a method which relies mainly on the use of technology, to lower the possibilities for human error, as well as to provide multiple values of hardness for comparison. In order to remove the calcium and magnesium ions from water, it is put ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the creek bottoms he brought an armful of twigs and dead wood. He laid small twigs and larger twigs and then the wood on the handful of dry grass, and he lighted the grass. Then Pa brought water from the creek, while Mary and Laura helped Ma get supper (28, 29). Another part of the story that Laura describes very deeply was when Pa built the log cabin, chimney, and the well digging. You knew every step and how he did it and what he used to make everything. If a person wanted to, they could probably build a log cabin or dig a well by her descriptions. Laura enjoys describing the way the prairie looks each day because she loves it so much. Gender, according to ITU is the social attributes and opportunities associated with being male and female . There are so many different parts of the term gender and so many roles that each sex partakes in. I think Disney is the obvious choice to blame for the portrayal of weak women. I mean, Disney resolves around the idea that women need rescuing, that we are the damsels in distress. In fact, the entire Disney princess movies collection seems to have the same story line. The endings all had the same idea involving being rescued or saved by a prince charming . Another popular kid s movie that was created, that did have some hope for the depiction of women was Shrek. The idea of the damsel in distress was turned on its head when Princess Fiona got the shock of her life when the big ogre showed up to rescue her. Fiona went from being the damsel to the sudden I m better than you attitude because Shrek didn t live up to the typical prince charming . • 13. Student Teacher Relationship Is Imperative Essay Student teacher relationship is imperative to student learning. Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn is a quote by Benjamin Franklin, that explains how vital student teacher rapport is to critical learning (Staff, A. H., 2016). It is central that students feel comfortable in the classroom, and there is mutual respect between the teacher and students. For my fieldwork, I observed student teacher relationship in two schools. One school, Alden Place Elementary School holds grades 3rd 6th, and the other, Millbrook High School holds grades 9th 12th. They are both very different in the sense that one includes high school students, and the other includes elementary students. My first student teacher rapport observation took place at Alden Place Elementary School. The school is 50% male, 50% female, 85% white, 1% Asian or Native Hawaiian, 2% Multiracial, 3% Black or African American, and 9% Hispanic or Latino. Alden Place has a 17% population of students with disabilities, 1% population of English Language Learners, and lastly, 27% population of economically disadvantaged students (Budget Information, 2016 2017). Alden place is located in a very good neighborhood, with low crime ratings. A History Of The English Church And People When Bede was writing A History of the English Church and People the conflicts between Christians and pagans were still not long a ago and Christianity was not yet as dominant in England as it would be in the future. Therefore, the memories of these conflicts were still fresh within some people s minds and Bede made sure to record it. Bede wrote the history of past events of Christianity s struggles, the great men that protected it and enforced it. He wrote so that Christians would have an example on how to act in order to achieve greatness, how to avoid sin and how to strengthen Christianity and the Church itself in England. Bede thought that greatness is achieved only in one way and that was being a good, devout Christian. He used the history of King Oswald s life as an example of what it meant to be great and what are the rewards for achieving greatness. He wished everyone who read his history to follow in Oswald s footsteps as he continuously mention in his written work history records good things of good men, the thoughtful hearer is encouraged to imitate what is good . He gives many examples of Oswald s deeds as a devout Christian, but his number one achievement was bringing the faith to the lands of Bernicia. With the transformation of consumer viewing in the American television industry, Netflix has over 75 million members who stream more than 125 million hours of television shows and movies per day (Statista, 2016). Their repertoire includes movies and original series that allow consumers to view at anytime and on any screen in which Internet connectivity to the Internet is provided. In addition, Netflix continues to deliver DVDs within the United States to the homes of consumers. One critical issue was that customers did not like the increased subscription fees (Parnell, 2014). Mr. Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by mail services and streaming services individually. The host of the video interviewed several different companies. The Mississippi State University speaker stated that America had a net lost 200,000+ a year and is now up that much or a little more a year. I think it would be great to gain some manufacturing jobs in America. New Albany used to be in the biggest furniture making area in the U.S. When NAFTA and China started taking jobs it became a ghost town. Now that jobs are coming back it would be good to see it thriving again. The labor force in New Albany are very skilled in furniture building, so a furniture company would be perfect in that area. I realize that, right or wrong, everything is about a dollar in the end. It has been my experience in the timber and agriculture industry that American made products are much more durable than Chinese products. A lot of their products come out of the box with defects. Customer service has basically went down the drain since the outsourcing of manufacturing as well. The aluminum fan plant mentioned that they were required to have some extent of customer service. That was a big reason the reshored that company to the United States. American workers created a better product and were a lot better at trouble shooting than Chinese workers. In doing this, he persuades the new Constitution and how it should be enacted. He believed factions were the number one cause of the failure of the Articles of Confederation. The definition of a faction is a group of people forming a minority group within a larger group, to seek some goal within a political party or government. Madison describes faction differently in Federalist No.10, but in actuality the definitions have the same meaning. Madison s definition is derived from a listing of requirements. Regulation should be the legislature s principal task in creating a more united society. Without focus on principal tasks, Madison describes how chaotic the faction can become. Giving a person the power of judging themselves can cause many bias, and therefore being inactive. There is no cure for faction. Madison explains that the only way to deal with causes of faction is by controlling its effects. This is where the constitution comes into play, providing security of the public good and the rights of other citizens. To assure constitution, democracy is enacted to form a more civilized community governed by the people. The way democracy is organized is determined by the ideas of being direct or indirect. With the ever growing number of shootings, the death rate due to firearms has intensified. Thus, the controversy over gun control has caused society to push the government to re evaluate the regulation of firearms in the United States. Hence, in order to keep and provide a safe environment for American citizens without fear of death by firearm, the government should regulate firearms. According to the Second Amendment, it states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Lund and Winkler). With that said, most civilians do not possess firearms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The comparison between the two states show how drastically gun regulations can influence the death rate by firearms. In the state of Wyoming, firearm sellers are not required to check gun owner backgrounds. Therefore, gun owners are not obligated to register their guns or have a gun license. That is to say, there is little to no gun regulations in Wyoming giving it the number one spot in the highest gun related deaths. On the other hand, Massachusetts has the laws that regulate the possession, sale, and use of firearms and ammunition. Once the applicant has sent in their application for a guns permit or license, the applicant must wait 40 days in which the authorities may deny or grant them permission to carry a firearm ( Concealed Weapons ). As stated by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, Massachusetts is a may issue state for the issuance of licenses to carry firearms, meaning that the local licensing authority has discretion in determining whether or not to issue either license type to an applicant ( Concealed Weapons ). In this case, Massachusetts is significantly stricter than Wyoming and any other state in the country. Thus, with its strict gun laws, it has the lowest gun related death rate and is ranked as fifty on the charts of gun related deaths (Hendry 2015). This further justifies ... • 24. Genetic Disease And The Medical World Genetics plays a large role in the medical world, specifically when dealing with disease. Some genetic diseases remain a mystery as to their specific origins, but this only highlights the importance of continued research and an accurate and complete knowledge of one s family medical history. This paper will cover one inherited genetic disease for which there is no cure, Fatal Familial Insomnia ( Self management of Fatal Familial Insomnia. Part 1: What is FFI? , 2006, p. 65). This particular disease was chosen due to its severity, swiftness with which it ends life, and its ability to exist undetected without symptoms for decades unless one s family history is known. Fatal Familial Insomnia, (FFI), is a neurodegenerative prion disease classified as a Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy, (TSE), meaning that it is genetically transmitted (Belay, 1999, p. 284). FFI is autosomal dominant (Xie et al., 2013, p81 90), meaning that an individual with A or AA alleles, a component of a gene pair, could carry this gene (Ireland, 2013). The capital, A or AA , denotes a dominant genetic trait (Ireland, 2013). The carrier will usually only present with one mutated gene and one normal gene in these cases which would be symbolized as, Aa , meaning the genotype is heterozygous, one dominant coded allele and one recessive (Ireland, 2013). Due to this 50 50 presentation of the gene itself, the likelihood of passing an autosomal dominant disorder or gene to offspring is also 50 50. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Premillennialist Belief In Rapture The fact that there exist various narratives concerning the topic of apocalypse invites the notion that there is a great number of people desiring the end of the world. Why would somebody be desirous of terminating the world s existence? Therefore, the evangelical protestantism belief in the rapture offers a solution to the otherwise unsatisfactory or even nonexistent future. The question that emerges while analyzing rapture is whether true believers are utterly freed from desires in heaven. Another reason for apocalyptic desire in terms of the rapture is hope for a better life. People that feel incomplete, that cannot bear competition, that are harrassed or even people that are alone may desire to be taken away from a miserable place. God s existence and his presence in heaven would save them. Faith and hope motivate discontented people to cope with everyday life. • 40. Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words allot. • 41. High School Jacket Research Paper I threw my books on the bed and approached the jacket slowly, as if it were a celebrity I was about to meet. My hands drugged acrossed the soft cold leather, the color of dark forest green and black. From the kitchen my mom yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I slowly opened the closet hoping my jacket was the one on my bed. Sure enough it was, right then I slipped into my jacket. It was a little big on me so I would have it for at least three years. Looking at the jacket I could see my future, all the girls around me, hanging out with the cool kids. It is like my jacket was one million dollars. I slipped my jacket back on and looked in the mirror and realized that I would look good if I combed my hair. My sleeves ran past my hands so I rolled the cuffs up, and ran down stairs and hugged my mom like there was no life left in her Thank you! I screamed. I sprinted outside with my new style of hair and jacket. As I was outside I tried to avoid my hungry dog, so I could show everyone how cool I was in my new slick jacket. As I sat on the fence daydreaming about my jacket, two cool kids walked over to me and invited me to hang out with there group of friends at school. At that moment, I knew my jacket held a great future for me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just then my dog jumps in front of me and tries to take a bite out of my jacket. • 42. Drug Use And The Therapeutic Treatment Of Drug Addiction I. Hypothesis It commonly believed that over time, the effects of drug related cues increases the efficacy of relapse. To this end, the researchers are looking to key brain chemicals to aid in the therapeutic treatment of drug addiction. A main concern is how can drug related cues be counteracted or reduced in patients prone to relapse. In one study, investigators found that drug use and relapse involves learned associations between drug associated discrete and contextual cues and drug taking... (Bossert, Marchant, Calu, Shaham, 2013). This is further corroborated by data suggesting with repeated drug use, an attentional bias occurs (Jasinska, Stein, Kaiser, Naumer, Yalachkov, 2014). As a result, drug cues take over perceptual, cognitive and memory processes. This produces a priming effect, essentially putting the addict in a state of drug seeking readiness. We predict that when presented with certain contextual cues associated with drug use, they will trigger a drug seeking response in drug addicted individuals when compared to the control. We also theorize that time of day will have an effect on the intensity of the drug seeking response. II. Methodology A. Subjects We will recruit 30 individuals currently seeking drug treatment for cocaine addiction for a two day study, ages 18 to 50, from local Narcotics Anonymous (NA) groups. The recruits will be from a cross section, at various stages of their drug treatment. Current dependency will be determined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Euthyphro, By Plato The Main Idea That Comes Up Is... Seiji Hayashi PHIL 3500 Chrisoula Andreou In Euthyphro, by Plato the main idea that comes up is socratic ignorance. Euthyphro argues that he is the self proclaimed expert on the subject of piety and impiety. I could argue in the position that, Euthyphro is claiming expertise in a subject that he doesn t know enough about. This socratic ignorance is the idea of the dialogue. I have decided to take an extra argument in this paper. I argue there is ignorance in both Socrates and Euthyphro. Although it s more difficult to prove, I explain the situations of piety and impiety and how it is relative to each person and the time period of the discussion. Bringing the background situation to show claims made by Euthyphro and lack of evidence provided in this dialogue. The supporting claims I share after are on Euthyphro s side of conversation. This determines his thoughts, on the definition of piety and unspoken details that I have determined. Socrates also makes arguments that are known to be true, to Euthyphro through comparison of different circumstances. This happens through Socrates and Euthyphro, use of asking questions and questing answer, from what explained, based on the knowledge of Euthyphro. I use the background of the whole dialogue, in pointing out flaws in the responses of both parties. I also bring into aspect of the circumstance relative to the time period, and the nature of people s beliefs, in religion. The background of the dialogue the important to the ... • 44. A Streetcar Named Desire By Blanche Dubois The character of Blanche Dubois in the play A Streetcar Named Desire is depicted as a victim of her traditional southern upbringing, she struggles to find her place in society where the values of a Southern Belle are no longer relevant nor exist. Blanche Dubois is portrayed as the weaker sex, who is then over powered by Stanley Kowalski, her sister s working class husband. Blanche Dubois shows a great psychological instability when she is unable to live up to the expectations of a classic and proper Southern Belle. This psychological instability ultimately leads to her to have a metal breakdown, the play ends with Blanche being committed to a mental institution. Blanche Dubois was raised on the social standard of Southern Belle and her primary goal in life was, according to Southern tradition, was to seek the security of marriage. Unfortunately, she chooses suitors who are not the best companions. Blanche marries Allan Grey for love at a very young age only to find her dreams shattered by her husband s infidelity with another man. Blanche displays deep seated psychological instability when she is unable to live up to her expectations as a properly raised Southern belle and also by Stanley s brutally raping of her, which was to exert his domination over a female victim. To understand Blanch Dubois mental state, we must understand the ideology of the Southern Belle. Southern belles were raised as sheltered, beautiful, and chaste daughters to become idyllically protected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But with the advent of these drugs we gradually forgot alternative health care in favor of conventional medicine. One reason was that conventional medicine was fast and predictable. You do not have to search for the herb and boil it and make a concoction out of it. You just go to the drugstore, present the prescription your doctor gave you, receive the medicine from the pharmacist or his/her aide and pay for it. Upon reaching home, you just take the medicine. It is so convenient. But the recent experience of people taking conventional drugs is that they may lead to dependence on these drugs and larger doses may be required upon subsequent intakes. Furthermore there are bad effects in taking these drugs. These happen especially with antibiotic drugs. So people began to look for alternative ways of healing, one that is not heavily dependent on synthetic drugs and one that heals body, soul and spirit so that the person really become whole. • 47. Kingdom of God What exactly is the kingdom of God? How does one recognize the kingdom? Are you in the kingdom of God? So often, people search for the evidence of the kingdom of God rather than simply identifying it. In the present day, the stress is evasively put on works and actions rather than a personal relationship with God. Too many people fall into the trap of participating in as many activities as they can, living to have their good deeds noticed by others; however, the key point is entirely missed. It is the innermost intimate part of a person that divulges the power of an individual s life, not the actions. This passage contrasts the present and the future magnificence of the kingdom, which is constantly growing. The kingdom of God includes everyone: the poor, the gentiles, the outcast, the oppressed, the women, Samaritans, tax collectors, the sick, and the sinners. Jesus states that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought to them (Lk. 7:22). If you take this out of the context of which it was written and it may not seem like a very big deal that some of these groups of people would be included in the kingdom of God, but in reality, Jesus caused a lot of controversy through focusing on these neglected and oppressed people. The possession of illnesses and sin created a greater sense of desperation within the people, this allowed more room for grace to abound in their lives and explains the reason why miracles took place in their lives more often than the rich and prestigious upper class. A significant aspect of Jesus teaching was setting people free from sin and giving them dominion over evil (Drane 149). Jesus constantly breaks down social barriers and places heavy emphasis on going against the social boundaries that separate the people. Jesus completely redefines the role of Jewish women, which Luke draws special attention to this throughout his book. In the Bible, women were of little to no value. They were ... The main protagonist used to do drugs and did found pleasure in doing it, but he did it because he did not want to collapse in the norm of society. He also did to improve his life through drug dealing as he wanted a way where he could make money easily and quickly. During 1970 s there was a big change in the industry of entertainment. This was the time where the African Americans were becoming a part of the working class. During this time, there were some social and political changes which were occurring due to the Black Panther Party and also because of the civil rights movement. Boyd discusses a movie called Superfly (1972). This movie shows the real condition of poor black people in New York City. How they were not getting work and because of which they had to smuggle drugs for their living. However, this film disagrees with Mandelson s opinion. • 50. Billy Budd And Invisible Man Essay There are many ways to interpret a book, one can read it as a character s adventure, a conflict of ideas or emotions, or a story. For myself, I read the books, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and Billy Budd, Sailor by Herman Melville, in an ironic sense; and while doing this, I noticed that both books showed an intuitive sense of sociology. Furthermore, what mattered most by reading the books ironically is that it is easy to see the outcome of a situation which is pleasing to be conscious of. It is easy to see the outcome of a situation because when one is paying attention to a character, one s attention is toward a character, except when one s attention is on an entire situation, one s attention is on the flow of events and then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are 3 notable examples from Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison that support this observation directly: 1) The huge chaotic fight between the invisible man evokes this observation. First, for assistance in recollection, the author focuses on more than one person. The descriptions and choppy dialogue conveys a sense of confusion because not one person had any idea what was going on. Despite this, the main character fights then goes on and wins an award even though , I suppose, this situation which can be classified as madness by Georges Polti should have ended in contemplation. However, he delivers a speech after the fight and the chapter ends in peace somehow. I felt I could see the situation unfold just by reading. Also, it is an example of the classified transition: chaos to order followed by an example of perception: tolerance of chaos is necessary to reach resolution. 2) The banter from Golden day is to be noted so it can be used as support. It was clear that Mr. Norton and Invisible man were consumed by the craziness that day. That is probably why the Invisible man had a hard time taking care of Norton s illness . Another reason is that no one could see him because Golden day had a lot of bright colors like when looking at a picture of the Taj Mahal, no one notices the black cross on the top (even though it is ... Although Nokia s sales in China have increased, but the rate of increase of its sales is slower than the market itself, hence the decrease on market shares. Like the CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekka Kallasvuo said in 2010, the global market has continued to grow at a healthy pace; the only problem for Kallasvuo is that while the market might be growing at a healthy pace, Nokia s sales aren t. Since resources are limited, it is vital to maximize output using the least amount of labour and capital.
