Who Built The Temple Of Athena Nike And Parthenon
There are many architects that have built incredible structures. They used a range of styles and designs
to build such structures. Some of the styles and designs were turned into realties, others were not so.
Of the architects who turned their style and designs into realities, are Anthemius of Tralles and
Isidorus of Miletus, who built Hagia Sophia as a church. However, Hagia Sophia would be converted
to a mosque. Another architect is Kallikrates, who built the Temple of Athena Nike and Parthenon,
who I will research, his work, and choose a building that interests me. Discuss the purpose of the
building and why I find it interesting? Talk about how the building was constructed. If the building or

Chemistry lab report Essay
The goal of the project was to characterize an unknown organic acid in order to make a proper
identification of the acid, while learning proper techniques for scientific measurement and analysis of
error.
In order to ensure the most accurate data, a purification was performed by the process of
recrystallization. To perform the recrystallization the powder was dissolved in a minimal amount of
hot ethanol/H2O solvent that allowed the unknown powder to crystallize properly when cooled. This
process allowed for the removal of soluble impurities when suction filtered. A sample of the unknown
acid was weighed at 8.24 g, and it was found that 164ml of a 40% ethanol, 60% H20 solvent dissolved
the 8.24 g of unknown acid when heated. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phenolphthalein was used as an endpoint indicator to determine the molarity of the NaOH solution,
which was found to be approximately .0979 M. The data collected from the titration follows in the
table below.
NaOH Titration
Trial I II III
Mass KHP (g) .403 .402 .411
Final NaOH 21.02mL 41.04mL 30.01mL
Initial NaOH .89mL 21.02mL 9.50mL
Volume NaOH Total 20.13mL 20.02mL 20.60mL
Molarity NaOH .0980 M .0980 M .0977 M
The molarity of each trial was found using the formula below; following the formula is a sample
calculation:
Molarity of NaOH Solution = Mass KHP (g) / [(204.34 g/mole) x (Delivered NaOH (ml)]
.403g /[(204.24g/mole)x(0.02013L)] = .0980 moles/liter
To ensure the best possible data, the error of the collected data was determined. This error was found
to be: (9.80 9.77)/9.77 = .003 x 100% = .31% error.
The equivalent weight of the unknown was determined by titration with NaOH. By discovering the
amount of NaOH required to react with the unknown acid, it was possible to determine the equivalent
weight of 98.4 g/mole. Three samples of the pure unknown acid were weighed at .403g, .406g, and
.394g. Each sample was placed in a flask and dissolved in approximately 40 50mL of the heated
solvent used in the recrystallization (40% ethanol/60% H2O). A drop of Phenolphthalein was added to
each flask. Each flask was titrated with the standardized

Irony In The Open Window
Throughout the story, The Open Window , there are many examples of irony. Irony can be funny,
serious, or even scary. There are three types of irony; which are; situational, dramatic, and verbal.
Situational is what is expected to happen and what actually happens. Dramatic is when the audience
know more about something that is happening than the character does. Finally, verbal is the use of
words meaning something different than what they actually mean.
In the story, it says that Mrs. Sappleton s niece s name is Vera. Vera is a Slavic word that means truth;
however, throughout the story Vera is telling many lies. First, Vera tells Framton Nutell a fiction story
of how Mrs. Sappleton s husband and two younger brothers went out the window to ... Show more

This explains how the three figures come back to the house through the window. At first, these figures
are expected to be ghost; however they were very human and very alive. Franton Nutell did not stay
long enough to find out whether they were alive or not. This is an example of situational irony.
Lastly, throughout the story there are hints that Vera may be a trouble maker. In paragraph eight, Vera
shows some interest that Franton doesn t know anyone or anything about the people in that town. As
soon as Vera finds out that he knows nothing, she begins to create the story of the open window. Also,
in paragraph sixteen, Vera s aunt says, I hope Vera has been amusing you? , so this also gives a hint
that she might be up to something. This is an example of dramatic irony, because the reader knows
about the window and Franton does not.
In conclusion, there are many examples of irony in this story. There is situational irony, dramatic
irony, and verbal irony. The story shows situational irony when the three figures of Mrs. Sappleton s
husband and two brothers come through the door alive, when they were expected to be ghost.
Dramatic irony is shown when the reader knows that Vera is up to something and Frantom Nutell does
not. Lastly, verbal irony is shown through Vera s name because Vera means truth and throughout the
story Vera is

Leonardo s Notebooks
People from around the globe easily recognize the phenomenal work of Leonardo da Vinci. Perhaps
the most famous of all his work is the Mona Lisa, with an impressive six million annual visitors.
Incidentally, there is an abundance of works by Leonardo da Vinci that the majority of people have yet
to even hear about. Admittedly, these works were not created with the intent of being seen outside the
artist s studio, but rather to aid in his critical thinking process. These works are mostly comprised of
drawings. Studies for a Nativity is one such exquisitive yet commonly unrecognizable drawing which
greatly helped Leonardo da Vinci in his critical thinking process.
Studies for a Nativity is one of many drawings that can be found within Leonardo s hundreds of
notebooks. Perhaps in this way Leonardo had an advantage to past artists. To clarify, possessing such a
large quantity of notebooks was almost unheard of a century prior. This is because paper had only
recently become easier to attain. Prior to the widespread availability of paper artists were often forced
to use prepared animal skins, tablets, or they made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies for a Nativity specifically helped him gain a better understanding of poses and gestures of the

Baptist adoring the Christ Child accompanied by an Angel ( The Virgin of the Rocks ). Seen at lower
right of the drawing are geometric constructions which represent his attempts to work out the
perspective within the composition, with respect to the spectator s vantage point (Bambach). As

John Adams And Thomas Jefferson
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were two revolutionaries who helped birth a nation through an idea
of the United States. This idea included the equality of all men and their freedoms, such as religion,
speech and liberties. Both Jefferson and Adams became politicians and rose to the position of
President of the United States. John Adams took the position as the second President of the United
States after serving as George Washington s Vice President. Adams served as President from March 4,
1797 to March 4, 1801. Thomas Jefferson succeeded his Predecessor and was voted in as President
after Adams s first term, making him the third President of the United States. As Presidents of the
United Sates, their duties were to uphold laws and values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adams secured the peace treaty with France, and he was in favor of the abolition of slavery. These are
just a few examples of his dedication and devotion to this country.
Thomas Jefferson had some good ideas that he never put into action, and often people believed that he
was a bit hypocritical, or far fetched. Indeed, Jefferson s words often soared beyond his actions,
leading to enigmatic inconsistencies in his personality that some saw as hypocritical. (A Magnificent
catastrophe 15).
Adams and those calling themselves Federalists saw a strong central government led by a powerful
president as vital for a prosperous, secure nation. (A Magnificent Catastrophe 18). John Adams was a
leader of the Federalist Party, which was the first political party in the United States. One of the
biggest ideals for this political party is to have a national bank. Adams supported urban, big businesses
as well as a national bank. Federalists strived for a strong, central government, so a national bank
would be a part of this vision. Adams received strong support from bankers and merchants from the
northern states. Adams swept the northern states, gaining votes from every elector in New England,
New York, and New Jersey. (A Magnificent Catastrophe 31). Adams s rival, Thomas Jefferson, was a
leader of the Democratic Republican Party. This political party supported a stronger state based
government and a

Who Is Responsible For Edgar Allan Poe s Death
¨Lord, help my poor soul.¨ On October 17, 1849, Joseph W. Walker found Edgar Allan Poe
unconscious in a Baltimore gutter. He took EAP to the hospital. The cause of his death still remains a
mystery. Many conspiracy theories surround EAP´s death. One of the most common theories is that he
died of consuming too much alcohol. Although, It s been 168 years since EAP died, but no one has
been able to solve the mystery of his death. The theory that he died of drinking sounds right to many
people because it has some background to it. EAP started drinking at a very early stage of life because
of everything happening around him. He started drinking because he wanted to take some time not
thinking about his horrible past. His drinking even got worse after his wife, Virginia died from

How Is Booker T Washington Related To Education
Booker T. Washington and Education Throughout the life of Booker T. Washington expressed in his
autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences,
education, public speaking, and teaching of others. This is the fact that one cannot succeed solely on a
book education, but must accompany this with that of an industrial education as well. He believed that
with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only for himself, but
also for those in his community as well. Washington was born on a slave plantation in either 1858 or
1859 in Franklin County, Virginia. He grew up with his mother, his brother John, and his sister
Amanda. They lived in an extremely small log ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About this same time a school had been stated in Kanawha Valley, a little town a few miles away from
Malden. This is where Washington began his book education. To attend the school, Washington, at
first, had to go to night classes due to his job at the salt mines. With a little persuasion, Washington
finally was allowed to attend during the day provided he worked from four o clock to nine o clock in
the morning. This education was very disorderly due to the fact he could not attend regularly.
Eventually Washington had to drop out of the school and continue working full time at the salt mines.
Washington continued working at the salt mines until he was able to work in the coal mines. The coal
mines paid a little more, but not a significant difference. It was here where Washington overheard two
men talking about a new all Negro school in Hampton, Virginia. In order to go to this school,
Washington needed to save money for clothes and traveling expenses. For this he worked in the house
of Mrs. Viola Ruffner, who turned out to have an ample affect on his life. The lessons that I learned in
the home of Mrs. Ruffner were as valuable to me as any education I have ever gotten since,
(Washington 52). From Mrs. Ruffner, Washington learned about taking pride in having a clean living
area. She also encouraged his education during the time of his work there. After saving whatever
money he could, Washington set off for the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute. During

Essay on Dr. Mengele
The life story of Josef Mengele is one that is filled many twists and turns that play out like a suspense
story with an ending that does not seem to fit what one would expect. The authors of the book
Mengele: The Complete Story, Gerald L. Posner and John Ware, wrote this book largely with
information taken from diaries and letters of Mengele amp;#8217;s, and interviews with those who
knew him. It is a look into the life and times of a man whose nickname was amp;#8220;The Angel of

However, this man who exhibited a sense of strength and fierceness to his victims was neither
physically or emotionally strong. He was very insecure about his physical appearance, and constantly
thought people were out to get him. He felt he had to belittle others accomplishments in order to make
himself feel more confident. Mengele especially hated gypsies, and viewed them as more of a
subspecies than other groups he killed. The following passage, which comes from Mengele
amp;#8217;s arrest warrant, which detailed his heinous crimes, illustrates his disregard for their lives:
amp;#8220;..On May 25th, 1943, Mengele sent 1035 gypsies suspected of typhus to the gas chamber,
and on May 25th and 26th he spared those Gypsies who were German while he sent approximately
600 others to be gassed. ;(p. 25 par.1)
What is ironic about this hatred is that Mengele himself was far from being considered physically
superior to anyone. In fact, amp;#8220;since childhood, he had been self conscious of his slightly
tawny skin, his penetrating brown green eyes, and his dark hair. At school he endured taunts from his
classmates about his Gypsy looks. ;(p. 25 par. 2) It could be seen that his contempt for Gypsies might
have arisen due to trauma he endured during childhood from others, as well as a self imposed trauma
he brought upon himself, due to his

Burgess Shale
The Burgess Shale was first discovered in 1909 by a Paleontologist named Charles Walcott and is
believed to be over 500 million years ago in Middle Cambrian. This geological formation was first
found near a mountain by the name of Mount Burgess, for which it was named after, in Canada.
Similar formations have been uncovered in China, Europe, USA and many other places around the
world. The Burgess Shale is one of the most important of fossil type formations due to the fact that
they are one of the most preserved including not only the hard parts of an animal such as the tissue,
muscles and organs, but also gives evidence that soft bodied creatures lived at the time.

Age Specific Reproduction
The effects of age specific breeding and matriarch presence on elephant reproduction
Introduction
Although Robinson et al. was not able to determine the overall the long term effects of early life
reproduction, they provided results that show the immediate effects of age specific reproduction. The
impact of reproduction on younger females is an important part of elephant survival, however, it is the
impact of reproduction over time that provides understanding of the future of elephant populations. In
order to show the later life effects of reproduction, Hayward et al. studied the survival of calves and
annual breeding success of elephants throughout their lives and into their older age.

produced a study that examined the later life consequences of breeding on a population, particularly
breeding early in life. Hayward et al. also used the Myanmar timber camp Elephas maximus to
perform the research, looking at the records of 416 reproductive captive born mothers and their
offspring. The elephants used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber camps with the youngest
breeding being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age at the first birth of offspring was
19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being 10 calves. Hayward et al. discovered
that individuals who didn t produce calves before the age of 19 had lower calf survival than those who
produced one or more calves before the age of 19. Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is
correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is outweighed with higher annual breeding success as well
as increased calf survival (Hayward et al). The investment of energy and resources into breeding at an
early age increases the chance of calf survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those
who begin reproduction later in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early life
reproduction are offset by higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants. The breeding success
of younger elephants can be attributed not only to early reproduction, but also to older females in a
herd. While Hayward et al. observes the effects of young

Black Holes And Its Effects On Society
Supermassive black holes are so mysterious when it comes to the knowledge we know about them.
We still don t know much about them and there will always be conspiracies about them, but we still
need to find more information about them to understand more. Black holes are developed when a star
s core collapses and then mass is getting eaten by the core which leads to the star to die in a supernova
explosion. This can go two ways, one is that the star turns into a neutron star, and the second is it turns

radioactivity by counting ionizing particles. Eight X ray sources were found and scientist detected
radio emissions from Cygnus X 1. A massive hidden companion was found and that was considered
the first black hole to be discovered. (6) We have a lot of evidence to prove that supermassive black
holes exist in galaxies. Scientist found evidence of a supermassive black hole in the center of the
Milky Way, the galaxy NGC 4258, galaxy M87, and several more. Scientist verified the existence of
black holes by studying the speed of the clouds of gas orbiting the galaxy regions. In 1994, the Hubble
space telescope measured an unseen object that had an estimated mass of about 3 billion times the
mass of the sun in our solar system. The unseen object was located in the center of the galaxy M87.
Scientist measured the mass of the object through the motion of the object whirling around the center.
(2) More evidence for the existence of supermassive black holes is the existence of quasars. Quasars
are a massive and extremely remote celestial object that emits large amounts of energy. They are also
one of the brightest objects in the universe. They are typically more than 100 times brighter than the
galaxies they re in. Quasars emit light through disks of gas and stars that are known as an accretion
disk. The accretion disk surrounds black holes. The closest quasars are

Why The United States Should Convert To The Metric System
Introduction
An interesting fact is that only 3 countries don t use the metric system. Another interesting fact is that
at one point Canada did not use metric. The Metric system Is a system of measurement that is as said
earlier is used in most countries. The Us is one of the few that doesn t use metric. The reason this is
because most countries deemed it suitable, but the U.S still uses Imperial measurement. In short the
United States should convert to the metric system because conversion from standard to metric is
difficult, the metric system is more precise, and people already use metric in the US anyway.
The first reason is conversion from standard to metric is difficult. This is because a miscalculation in
converting between metric and imperial. NASA lost a Mars orbiter. This all happened because the
other team used imperial. A plane from air Canada crashed because of converting error. This happened
because the plane was the company s first metric measurements and the gage was not working. They
used ripsticks to see how much fuel the plane took but conversion to volume to weight went wrong
and they crashed. As stated above conversion from standard to metric is difficult for those reasons. ...

Example Of Civil Disobedience
Doing the right thing is difficult. One is required to make decisions that may not be the popular choice
in the public s eyes. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority
and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a
tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do
otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might
happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were
Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text
states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s
policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse
opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the
midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist
evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about
because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong
to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re
false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. Although, there

Essay on Suzanne Britts Sloppy People vs Neat People
Neat People vs. Sloppy People appears in Britt s collection show and tell. Mingling humor with
seriousness (as she often does), Britt has called the book a report on her journey into the awful cave of
self: You shout your name and voices come back in exultant response, telling you their names. In this
essay about curtain inescapable personality traits, you may recognize some aspects of your own self,
awful or otherwise. For a different approach to a similar subject, see the next essay, by Dave Barry.
I ve finally figured out the difference between neat people and sloppy people. The distinction is, as
always, moral. Neat people are lazier and meaner than sloppy people. Sloppy people, you see, are not
really sloppy. Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sloppy people can t bear to part with anything. They give loving attention to every detail. When
sloppy people say they re going to tackle the surface of the desk, they really mean it. Not a paper will
go unturned; not a rubber band will go unboxed. Four hours or two weeks into the excavation, the
desk looks exactly the same, primarily because the sloppy person is meticulously creating new piles of
paper with new headings and scrupulously stopping to read all the old book catalogs before he threw
them away. A neat person would just bulldoze the desk. Neat people are bums and clods at heart. They
have cavalier attitude toward possession, including the family heirlooms. Everything is just another
dust catcher to them. If anything collects dust, it s got to go and that s that. Neat people will toy with
the idea of throwing the children out of the house just to cut down on the clutter. Neat people don t
care about process. They like results. What they want to do is get the whole thing over with so they
can sit down and watch the rasslin on TV. Neat people operate on two unvarying principles: Never
handle any items twice, and throw everything away. The only thing messy in a neat persons house is
the thrash can. The minute something comes to a neat person hand, he will look at it, try to decide if it
has immediate use and, finding none, throw it in the trash. Neat people especially

Science Technology Essay
Science Technology company case
After reviewing the financial forecast from Science Technology Company and Semiconductor
industry market situation, I concluded that 30% annual growth is not feasible, optimistic growth
forecast is 15% .Because world semiconductor shipment kept growing, but not just semiconductor
market but electronic products market was also dominated large market by Japanese manufacturers. If
the company carried on with the same profit/cost structure, the company s ROA would be 5% more or
less in next 5 years, EPS would be 0.44 0.97 and stock price would goes down to less $10 less $20. I
can assume that there is no additional stock issuance. As of 1984, the ROA is 5.6%, EPS 0.57 and
stock price $13 $37.

Major semiconductor market was in Japan (more than 50%). Japanese semiconductor supplier
dominated Japanese market due to its exclusive market structure and started to increased market
shares in US market, but US supplier could not do so.
3. Demands for testers from Semiconductor customer
Higher speed to go into manufacturing a new design products required more testability. To find out
detective/reject before mounting on the board, to spot early production stage and ATE increased its
presence in production. Sales in total ATE $359 (1978) to $1.6billion (1984) 28% /year growth,
expected $4billion in 1988 at 26% compound annual growth rare.
4 .Growth driver
・More semiconductor was built in more electronic products and its shipment kept growing
・Labor rate increase required automate testing operation to reduce labor cost.
・Specialization, work division due to more complexity and high cost to develop semiconductor

・Improvement of testing technology and tested devices change
・After inflation settled, interest rate decreased and corporate income tax would reduce from 46% to
34% in 1986 to stimulate more investment.
・Semiconductor agreement between Japan and USA due to lobbying and US government put
pressure to Japanese government to open Japanese market.
・National project SEMATECH started to recover the position in semiconductor market.
・Plaza Agreement in 1985 allowed weak US dollar and advantaged export increase.

Ventria Case Summary
Ventria, a Biopharmaceutical Company, has developed an innovative process to produce
pharmaceutical proteins in the seeds of genetically modified rice designed to lessen the severity of
childhood diarrhea .The company selected two proteins lactiva and Lysomin and categorize them as
effective compounds for gastrointestinal illness.
Ventria believed that the plant made medicines promise affordable human health products for the
global community and wanted to revolutionize the biopharmaceutical industry by putting production
on a large scale.
In order to move forward with its plans to commercialize its product, ventria needs both federal and

Stakeholders might propose to Ventria to plant rice elsewhere far from Sacramento valley with the

Essay on The Great Plague Of Europe
The Great Plague killed nearly half of the European population during the fourteenth century. A
plague is a widespread illness. The Illness was also known as the Black Death . Most of the European
people believed the plague was the beginning of the end of the world. They were scarcely equipped
and unready for what was to be entailed. It was by far one of the worst epidemics yet to be seen in
those times.
The Great Plague of Europe made its way all throughout the continent and its population. The plague
started on the western side of Europe; off the coast of Italy. It arrived by sea between the fall of 1347
and through early spring 1348. Italy was affected so hard that only one out of seven victims would
recover in those parts. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While others, were only effected by direct contact. It was thought to have been sustainable by even
touching clothing or other such items of the infected. Conditions of the fourteenth century were also a
contributing factor. Famine had been an arising issue due to the number of overpopulation. Because of
this, their immune systems began to weaken. Europeans were susceptible to disease because many
people lived in crowded surroundings in an era when personal hygiene was not considered important
(Dowling). The cities were unsanitary and littered with germs, making it easier to sustain such
diseases. Unhealthy habits were conducted and medical advances had not yet been made. Doctors
themselves had not known what to advise. No prescriptions had worked. There was no cure to what
was happening. Most were not even aware of what was impending upon them. Anything that could
would be tried, in hopes of living. People were becoming desperate.
The great plague came in three different forms. The types of illness differed in symptoms, spread and
sufferings. The bubonic plague was the diseases most common form. It was named this due to
swelling called buboes of the victim s lymph nodes. These tumors could range in size from that of an
egg to that of an apple (The Black Death). The longest expectancy with this form of illness didn t
often exceed one week. The second variation of plague was known as the pneumatic

The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Essay
The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
In her feminist critique of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Anne Millard Daughtey described Buffy as a
show which obviously promotes female strength and power (159). Buffy herself is a symbol of female
empowerment (149); as feminists we can all take comfort in the fact that Buffy kicks butt and so can
we all (164). Sherryl Vint agrees that Buffy is a positive role model for young women, one which
feminism should celebrate (para. 3). I find this understanding of Buffy, both the character and the
series, to be very problematic, and with this paper I aim to undertake a revised feminist critique of the
show, and expose the Buffyverse as the product of a very traditional patriarchal ... Show more content

Before Buffy and her friends discover this, Dawn has a number of unnerving experiences, in which
people walk up to her staring, saying There s nothing there, you re not real, there s nothing there .
Truly, in the Buffyverse, there is no such thing as woman .
Prior to embarking upon my own analysis of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it this pertinent to consider
Joss Whedon s envisioning of his series, and in particular, his heroine, Buffy. In interviews he has
often explained his desire to create an alternative ending for the horror movie:
It was pretty much the blond girl in the alley in the horror movie who keeps getting killed ... I felt bad
for her, but she was always much more interesting to me than the other women. She was fun, she had
sex, she was vivacious. But then she would get punished for it. Literally, I just had that image, that
scene, in my mind, like the trailer for a movie what if the girl goes into that dark alley. And the
monster follows her. And she destroys him. (Quoted in Vint, para. 6)
Whilst we see here that Whedon s intention is to subvert the conventional horror movie/slasher genre,
I m not sure that he is successful. He is running the considerable risk of merely replacing the fetishised
female victim with a fetishised female hero; she is still a pretty blond girl, she is still fun, she is still
sexual, she is still Barbie with

The Affordable Care Act Is Surrounded By Numerous...
The Affordable Care Act is surrounded by numerous political circumstances. The Affordable Care Act
has been called by many names such as Obama Care or healthcare overhaul. The healthcare overhaul
is one of the rare policies that has been developed, but not tweaked to perfection; it may never be
tweaked to satisfy everyone, but it could still improve. According to the article entitled The Science of
Muddling Through by Charles Lindblom Policy is not made once and for all; it is made and re made
endlessly (Lindblom, 1959, pp. 86). The act of policy making is based on consecutive approximations
to some sought after objective in which the ultimately desired objective continuously changes under
reconsideration (Lindblom, 1959, pp. 86). Due to the fact, the Affordable Care Act was an overhaul
unlike any other in America in regards to healthcare it has received a great deal of attention
nationwide. All the attention seems to have gotten people to thinking about our health care system in
comparison to others countries health care systems and what is best for the United States. According
to Delivering Health Care in America: A Systems Approach. Sixth ed., the United States leads the
world in the latest and greatest in medical technology, training and research. Another feature that
makes this health system stand out is that is doesn t automatic cover everyone unlike other health
systems. The health care system is a patchwork of various components of other systems. Some

Perihelion Distances
Space is extremely vast, and planets are tiny specks by comparison to the distance between them,
which means that a random object flying through the solar is extremely unlikely to collide with Earth,
and only a small number of the objects in our solar system even have the possibility of coming near
Earth. First, it is necessary to understand how astronomical orbits are defined. Three key terms, as
explained by WSU s introductory astronomy course, are the semi major axis, the perihelion distance,
and the aphelion distance. The semi major axis is half of the elliptical orbit s main axis, and is also the
object s average distance to the sun, the perihelion distance is the closest distance the object ever gets
to the sun, and the aphelion distance is the farthest. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remaining objects are all referred to as near Earth asteroids, and are classified as either Atens,
with a semi major axis less than 1 AU and an aphelion distance greater than 0.983 AU, Apollos, with a
semi major axis greater than 1 AU and a perihelion distance less than 1.017 AU, or Amors, with a
semi major axis greater than 1 AU and a perihelion distance between 1.017 AU and 1.3 AU (Dunbar,
2004). Dunbar (2004) also describes one final classification for near Earth asteroids, which are
potentially hazardous asteroids, defined as having a minimum orbit intersection distance of 0.05 AU
and having a minimum diameter of around 150m (Dunbar 2004). All of these classifications are
necessary in order to look at the objects in our solar system, and to determine which objects pose a
serious risk and need to be monitored, as well as objects which could become dangerous if their orbit
is slightly changed by an unexpected collision or gravitational

If You Ain T First, It s The Only Thing Analysis
It was in 1955, in a Sports Illustrated article just before the 1956 Rose Bowl, that Vince Lombardi was
quoted saying, Sure, winning isn t everything; it s the only thing. Or maybe one can recall the 2006
film in which Will Ferrell s character Ricky Bobby, a NASCAR superstar, can be heard saying, If you
ain t first, you re last. These two quotes are just a couple of prime examples when it comes to
understanding the value of competition in our American culture. There is an assumption that only
those who win can and will be successful. Understanding that the United States is a place that is
supposedly ONE nation under God, yet is so driven by the assumption that you must always win at
everything, begs the question; what is the significance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be noted in an article from 2016 in Psychology Today, that for decades, psychologists noticed
something ironic among top athletic competitors. Setting aside those who were clearly happy having
won first place, and looking at those who society would call losers (second and third), it was more
often than not, those who came away with bronze medals appeared more accomplished and happier
than those who won silver. The significance in this can be seen through a greater appreciation from
those who barely won than from those who completely out performed their competition or fell
somewhere in the middle. An article from the Huffington Post furthers this idea of happiness and
winning. The article references research done for the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, in
which they were researching this exact topic. The researchers wrote, Happy people savor little things
that occur frequently, and unhappy people strive for intense experiences that rarely occur. Their study
provides evidence that a difference in attitude greatly shapes how our culture views and understands

Community Corrections Program Analysis
In 1985, The Community Corrections Program was established by lawmakers (TDOC, n.d.). By
reserving confinement for violent offenders, community based alternatives allowed sentencing of non
violent felonies to escape imprisonment. The purpose of the program was to reduce the chance of
reoccurring criminal behavior while executing community safety. The Community Corrections
Program allowed taxpayers revenue to be redirected from the costly costs of confinement for offenders
that were non violent. The state agreed with qualified private agencies and local governments to
contract a range of front end community based supervision and resource services for eligible offenders
(TDOC, n.d.). Community Corrections offered local courts the opportunity ... Show more content on

supervisor. Offenders are obligated to complete and attend numerous courses such as pro social life

Offenders given parole cannot be released from prison until a discharged plan has been authorized by
a probation parole officer (TDOC, n.d.). A discharge plan should identify where the parolee will work

implemented as a form of release by a court of an individual found guilty of a crime without
imprisonment (Tennessee, 2017). Probationers are subject to stipulations imposed by the court and
subject to the supervision of the Department of Correction. Probationers may be given

Issues In Rwanda Genocide
The absence within the literature of the central pillars and their composed themes creates problems
when trying to address current and future contention between the international community and
Rwanda. By relying largely on the genocide guilt card, issues important to Rwanda are sometimes
either overlooked or plainly forgotten. The result is miscommunication and misunderstandings that
complicate a delicate situation. For example is the previously mentioned debate on term limits for
President Kagame. Despite the thesis not discussing the third term debate except for the mention in
Chapter Two, it is an important event that will help continue the trend of how Rwanda views the
actions and decisions by international actors.
The debate on whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue of abandonment will be brought to the forefront but not in terms of the genocide guilt card.
Rwandan officials will believe that the same states that abandoned Rwanda before and during the
genocide have little ability to criticise the continuation of the only person who did not leave the
country during its darkest periods. President Kagame as leader of the RPF led the campaign to put an
end to the massacres in response to international abandonment of the genocide. This might be easily
misinterpreted as Rwanda promoting genocide guilt to deflect criticism of electing Kagame for more
terms than the current Constitution allows. But at the heart of the issue is the distrust of the
international community. They rather listen to and trust Kagame who did not abandon the country
rather than the countries that did. How he ended the genocide and led the nation into wars with the
DRC is met with the other two themes. Unlike the international community, which seems to
disappoint Rwanda by not properly combating the FDLR , Kagame is credited for promoting the
security of Rwandans by fighting the FDLR and other extremist groups bent on harming Rwanda.
These military campaigns are all through a central belief that Rwanda needs to be self reliant for its
own protection and development. Since the 2012 M23 allegations and aid withdrawal by donors,
Rwandans are increasingly accepting President Kagame s call for self reliance. As discussed in
Chapter Six, his rhetoric campaigns against foreign aid, Kagame continues to instruct Rwandans to
trust that economic development has to come from within Rwanda rather than continual acceptance of
foreign aid. Ronal Nkusi commented how the reduction of aid went beyond just the realm of rhetoric
to include it as a belief to be held by all government officials. This sense

One of the most common theories is that he died of consuming too much alcohol. Although, It s been 168 years since EAP died, but no one has been able to solve the mystery of his death. The theory that he died of drinking sounds right to many people because it has some background to it. EAP started drinking at a very early stage of life because of everything happening around him. He started drinking because he wanted to take some time not thinking about his horrible past. His drinking even got worse after his wife, Virginia died from Tuberculosis. At the same time, there are some people who agree with this death theory. However, there are a lot more people how disagree with this theory because he was going to get married soon. Hayward et al. also used the Myanmar timber camp Elephas maximus to perform the research, looking at the records of 416 reproductive captive born mothers and their offspring. The elephants used were from 8 regions of the Myanmar timber camps with the youngest breeding being 5 years of age and the oldest being 53. The mean age at the first birth of offspring was 19.48 years with the maximum number of lifetime calves being 10 calves. Hayward et al. discovered that individuals who didn t produce calves before the age of 19 had lower calf survival than those who produced one or more calves before the age of 19. Although beginning reproduction earlier in life is correlated with a shorter lifespan, the cost is outweighed with higher annual breeding success as well as increased calf survival (Hayward et al). The investment of energy and resources into breeding at an early age increases the chance of calf survival but also results in shorter lifespans compared to those who begin reproduction later in life (Hayward et al.). Based on the findings, the costs of early life reproduction are offset by higher lifetime breeding success in younger elephants. The breeding success of younger elephants can be attributed not only to early reproduction, but also to older females in a herd. While Hayward et al. observes the effects of young ... Black holes are developed when a star s core collapses and then mass is getting eaten by the core which leads to the star to die in a supernova explosion. This can go two ways, one is that the star turns into a neutron star, and the second is it turns into a black hole but only if the star is massive enough. Scientist found evidence of a supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way, the galaxy NGC 4258, galaxy M87, and several more. • 23. Why The United States Should Convert To The Metric System Introduction An interesting fact is that only 3 countries don t use the metric system. Another interesting fact is that at one point Canada did not use metric. The Metric system Is a system of measurement that is as said earlier is used in most countries. The Us is one of the few that doesn t use metric. The reason this is because most countries deemed it suitable, but the U.S still uses Imperial measurement. In short the United States should convert to the metric system because conversion from standard to metric is difficult, the metric system is more precise, and people already use metric in the US anyway. The first reason is conversion from standard to metric is difficult. This is because a miscalculation in converting between metric and imperial. NASA lost a Mars orbiter. This all happened because the other team used imperial. A plane from air Canada crashed because of converting error. This happened because the plane was the company s first metric measurements and the gage was not working. They used ripsticks to see how much fuel the plane took but conversion to volume to weight went wrong and they crashed. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. All of these classifications are necessary in order to look at the objects in our solar system, and to determine which objects pose a serious risk and need to be monitored, as well as objects which could become dangerous if their orbit is slightly changed by an unexpected collision or gravitational ... • 33. If You Ain T First, It s The Only Thing Analysis It was in 1955, in a Sports Illustrated article just before the 1956 Rose Bowl, that Vince Lombardi was quoted saying, Sure, winning isn t everything; it s the only thing. Or maybe one can recall the 2006 film in which Will Ferrell s character Ricky Bobby, a NASCAR superstar, can be heard saying, If you ain t first, you re last. These two quotes are just a couple of prime examples when it comes to understanding the value of competition in our American culture. There is an assumption that only those who win can and will be successful. Understanding that the United States is a place that is supposedly ONE nation under God, yet is so driven by the assumption that you must always win at everything, begs the question; what is the significance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be noted in an article from 2016 in Psychology Today, that for decades, psychologists noticed something ironic among top athletic competitors. Setting aside those who were clearly happy having won first place, and looking at those who society would call losers (second and third), it was more often than not, those who came away with bronze medals appeared more accomplished and happier than those who won silver. The significance in this can be seen through a greater appreciation from those who barely won than from those who completely out performed their competition or fell somewhere in the middle. An article from the Huffington Post furthers this idea of happiness and winning. The article references research done for the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, in which they were researching this exact topic. The researchers wrote, Happy people savor little things that occur frequently, and unhappy people strive for intense experiences that rarely occur. Their study provides evidence that a difference in attitude greatly shapes how our culture views and understands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Community Corrections Program Analysis In 1985, The Community Corrections Program was established by lawmakers (TDOC, n.d.). By reserving confinement for violent offenders, community based alternatives allowed sentencing of non violent felonies to escape imprisonment. The purpose of the program was to reduce the chance of reoccurring criminal behavior while executing community safety. The Community Corrections Program allowed taxpayers revenue to be redirected from the costly costs of confinement for offenders that were non violent. The state agreed with qualified private agencies and local governments to contract a range of front end community based supervision and resource services for eligible offenders (TDOC, n.d.). Community Corrections offered local courts the opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parolee release is also subject to stipulation enforced by the board and supervision of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC, n.d.). Offenders that are given parole, in The State of Tennessee, may have pre parole stipulations that first must be successfully finished before release to a parole supervisor. Offenders are obligated to complete and attend numerous courses such as pro social life skills, therapeutic community, or group therapy (TDOC, n.d.). Parolees may be given post parole special stipulations that they must acknowledge as part of parole supervision (TDOC, n.d). Halfway houses and substances assessment are utilized as post parole special stipulations release. Sex offenders on parole or probation are subject to specialized stipulations for sex offenders (TDOC, n.d.). Offenders given parole cannot be released from prison until a discharged plan has been authorized by a probation parole officer (TDOC, n.d.). A discharge plan should identify where the parolee will work and live when released from prison. In reference to the state of Tennessee, probation can be implemented as a form of release by a court of an individual found guilty of a crime without imprisonment (Tennessee, 2017). Probationers are subject to stipulations imposed by the court and subject to the supervision of the Department of Correction. Probationers may be given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Issues In Rwanda Genocide The absence within the literature of the central pillars and their composed themes creates problems when trying to address current and future contention between the international community and Rwanda. By relying largely on the genocide guilt card, issues important to Rwanda are sometimes either overlooked or plainly forgotten. The result is miscommunication and misunderstandings that complicate a delicate situation. For example is the previously mentioned debate on term limits for President Kagame. Despite the thesis not discussing the third term debate except for the mention in Chapter Two, it is an important event that will help continue the trend of how Rwanda views the actions and decisions by international actors. The debate on whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue of abandonment will be brought to the forefront but not in terms of the genocide guilt card. Rwandan officials will believe that the same states that abandoned Rwanda before and during the genocide have little ability to criticise the continuation of the only person who did not leave the country during its darkest periods. President Kagame as leader of the RPF led the campaign to put an end to the massacres in response to international abandonment of the genocide. This might be easily misinterpreted as Rwanda promoting genocide guilt to deflect criticism of electing Kagame for more terms than the current Constitution allows. But at the heart of the issue is the distrust of the international community. They rather listen to and trust Kagame who did not abandon the country rather than the countries that did. How he ended the genocide and led the nation into wars with the DRC is met with the other two themes. Unlike the international community, which seems to disappoint Rwanda by not properly combating the FDLR , Kagame is credited for promoting the security of Rwandans by fighting the FDLR and other extremist groups bent on harming Rwanda. These military campaigns are all through a central belief that Rwanda needs to be self reliant for its own protection and development. Since the 2012 M23 allegations and aid withdrawal by donors, Rwandans are increasingly accepting President Kagame s call for self reliance. As discussed in Chapter Six, his rhetoric campaigns against foreign aid, Kagame continues to instruct Rwandans to trust that economic development has to come from within Rwanda rather than continual acceptance of foreign aid. Ronal Nkusi commented how the reduction of aid went beyond just the realm of rhetoric to include it as a belief to be held by all government officials. This sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
