New France Contributions To Canada
New France In the development of what is known today as Canada, during the Elizabethan era,
there was a series was highly documented and, surprisingly, not well known occurrences. The
colonization of New France set the foundation for Canada. The early settlers grew as a nation while
holding true to some teachings of the French. The French were originally on the search for an
alternative route for Asia and instead stumbled upon what was soon to become their greatest
achievement. The French set out to trade in Asia, but found ever growing success from the new land
, despite every complication. The development of New France began with explorers who
established a good reputation for both the colonies and themselves. Esteemed military and political

Theatrical and musical performances were condemned by religious authorities although it was a
common pastime. (Canadian Museum of History) The consequences of malnutrition on lengthy sea

on writing by authors from antiquity , so stated in the Canadian Museum of History, according to
this belief, health depended on an equilibrium on the four main humors ...blood, phlegm, yellow
bile, and black bile. These practices were not always practical. Daily life was filled with ideas
from these teachings. For instance, the Canadian Museum of History stated potatoes were
considered pigs food and were not to be eaten by humans, the tomatoes were thought to be a
poisonous fruit and thorough cleanings were discouraged because medical theories claimed that
diseases entered the body through the skin and water was the source to open pores and give way to

Oscar Wilde The Importance Of Being Earnest
The importance of reading Oscar Wilde
Oscar Fingal O Flaherty Wills Wilde was an Irish playwright, novelist, essayist and poet. And
everything else can find in a book or online, I am not going to do that today, I am sure you are
not interested in the regurgitation of Oscar Wilde facts. I am sure that you know most of what is
written there better than the people that wrote those facts on Wikipedia any way. I am not going
to talk about the importance of being earnest in any way shape or form, trust me for I am in the
gutter looking up at the stars right now and everything that is written here will probably be a huge
lie. I cannot resist the temptation to it is just too hard not to sit here and just write a bunch of

This is the biggest thing II have learned not only from the plays I have read but from this entire
English class. We learn things on a parallel level with plays on one hand we learn what the play
is telling us from the dialogue the actors say. But on the other hand, we learn what the
playwright was trying to tell us. And in Oscar Wilde play the important of being earnest, there s
a lesson in the story about lying well just get you all tied up and in a bigger and deeper situation
that you started, but it also does this by poking fun and all the high and mighty aristocrats of the
Victorian era. It was Saturday night live for the Victorian era, it was it poke fun at situations we
cannot always change right away. Instead we poke fun, in a sense to get it out in the open and let
people stare back at themselves a bit. But don t forget that damn

Memory And The Psychodynamic Theory
The two concepts that I resonated with are Memory and the Psychodynamic theory. Starting with
the Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces
underlying human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood
experience. This theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with
psychoanalysis, a type of psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts
and emotions so that the person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is
Memory; understanding how memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an
essential key to attaining knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Memory
involves remembering and forgetting. I chose the two concepts because throughout the class they
stood out to the most. Understanding the conscious, subconscious mindand also memory. I m
interested in understanding the human behavior.
The psychodynamic theory, I didn t really think much about it. But when I got to psychology
learning about this theory stuck out to me, it made so much sense. I ve always thought that what
happens in out childhood molds the person you are today, so when learning about the
psychodynamic theory everything that I thought came to light. The emphasis on unconscious
motives and desires, as well as the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. But
memory was the most interesting to me, finding out

The Relationship Between Employee Motivation, Job...
Introduction The purpose of this article is to explain the construct of job satisfaction and how
job satisfaction can make failure on the performance of employees in an organization. This
article will be modified to the positive and negative effects of Job satisfaction. Secondly, the
essay review will discuss the relationship between employee motivation, job satisfaction and
employee achievement. Organizational goal of high arrangement has also been reach of high
level of achievement through productivity and effectiveness (Locke and Lathan, 2000,p.p248
250). In other to obtain that, there is a need for achieving high level of performance
improvement of an Organization. Happy worker leads to more and increased job performance.
That is why every organization tries to make a contributive and pleased work force to reach the
wellbeing of the organization. There is confusion and controversy among of employee attitudes
and job satisfaction indeed at a time when employees are progressively important for
organizational success and competing. As recommended indirectly in a study of HR professionals
the major manager knowledge gaps in this area are: 1. The lead of employee attitudes 2.The
results of positive or negative job satisfactions 3.How to measure and influence employee attitudes.
1. Job Satisfaction There have been so many explanation of Job satisfaction by academic
differently. Nevertheless the definition used greater is that (Saari and Timothy, 2004, Pp. 395 407).

Technology Assistive Can Improve And Advance Young...
The purpose of this study is to show that technology assistive can improve and advance young
children with or without special needs. Technology has advance through the years and all children
are more interest in learning skills with technology devices. My action research project has four
children the majority are two to nine year of age that can benefit for technologies in tasks at school
and home with and without special needs. The technologies assist can be more creativity,
innovation, communication, collaboration, research, and information fluency with learningand
teaching young children that allow them to take focus and listening to the tasks. It can prove for
the great beneficial in achieving and giving knowledge of their future goals. Problem Interest
The reason for the observation and interest in this action research project are to help the young
children in my families and other children. They are not staying focus and listening with old school
learning but they do focus and think with new age through technology. Technologies make all
children feel equally and have the same opportunity in learning. I have observation that children
have technologies to learn and teach them at home so we need to make technologies available at
school to collaboration together on same materials. Technologies can cover a list of products and
applications for cellphone to ipad, face to face to face time and media, book to internet, portifolio

The Dual Purpose Of Art In Django, By Quentin Tarantino
Django did a great job of expressing the dual purpose of art. Write and director Quentin Tarantino,
delivered very deep emotional arousal and entertainment with this film. From my prospective
Tarantino use the dual purpose of art as a magnifying glass. To give his artistic view on slavery.
Through the basic elements of dramaand the six plotdevices. For example, take the introduction
scene with Dr. Schultz, Django, and Calvin Candie. This scene diction of the N word was used a
number of time. Which I felt it was too emotional arouse the audience thoughts as the Mandigo
fight took place. The fight in this scene appeal to both of the purpose or art. The fight entertains
and also raise emotions of the audience upon the fact that black males during that time period was
forced to fight each other till the death, with only one survivor standing.
The world created by this film gives it verisimilitude, and believability. The writer and director
did a great job with this movie. He delivered us with a piece that has believable multi
dimensional characters, who are fearless in their pursuit of their desires. Which in terms give me
the understanding that during that time period conflicts faced by slaves all related to the theme
survival of the fittest , and live fight another day. For example, take the character Django after he
had surrender and was sold to the mining company by Ms. Candie, he found a way to get back to
the plantation to rescue his wife. His ruthless desire to

The Lion king starts in the lands of Africa, where the Lion Mufasa rules as king over other
animals. King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi give birth to Simba but Mufasa s brother Scar is
displeased by it because Simba would replace him as the heir to the throne. Time passes and
Mufasa finally takes young Simba on a tour where he teaches Simbato be a King and the circle of
life. Then, Scar tricks Simba and his friend Nala to explore a graveyard which Mufasa has
forbidden them to go. Some hyenas spot Simba and try to attack but Mufasa gets there on time
and rescues them. Scar and hyenas plot to kill Mufasa. Scar lures Simba to a gorge. Scar creates a

The movie has parts that resembles a monarchy and victimization. Lion king is depicted as a
story of a contemporary America. Mufasa represented ideal of the free, tolerant, compassionate
society that had been evolving in this country. Scar on the other hand, doesn t care about his
social image. He is greedy and only cares about the rich. Scar and the hyenas can be considered
as rapacious politicians in Washington. Or he can also be presented as leading the hyenas on a
Nazi like military march. When Mufasa explains Simba why them eating the antelopes is fine
can be depicted as the hierarchical capitalist system. The lower classes are the grass that support
the antelopes of the middle class. The upper class happily feed on the middle class while the
lower class scavenge off the scraps of decaying waste and leftovers produced by the lions. Scar
convincing Simba that he was responsible for Mufasa s death is similar to people believing that
its their own fault that discrimination, cultural and educational deprivation occur. Simba leaves
his kingdom and feels purposeless until he meets Timon and Pumbaa who believe in Hedonism
(maximizing pleasure). On the other hand, Scar becomes a dictator of the kingdom with his
hyenas. Their greediness results in the kingdom becoming a bleak area. Faith is personified by
Rafiki. He brings the rightful king back and restores the Circle of Life. The Lions can be
presented as racists because when Scar brings back the hyenas to the kingdom, the shock on the
lions faces displayed their racism. Which was no different to ours before the Civil War. The
Circle of Life resumes when Simba returns to his rightful place. After few years, Simba has a cub
of his own. The middle class animals bow to their royalty, knowing that their hierarchical lifestyle
will never cease to be the dominant social structure in the

Sandstone Country Club Incident Essay
On an extremely hot August night at Sandstone Country Club, an incident occurred between a
server and a cook. Roberto, the server, was not receiving great tips and was having a tough night
with his tables, due to the high capacity of people getting dinner and the heat making customers
and other workers impatient. When Dr. Steele and his table sat at one of his tables, he knew he
had to try his hardest to keep him happy because he was a generous tipper but very critical if the
service is bad. Almost everything that could go wrong with Dr. Steele s order went wrong. First,
he ordered a special that had already run out for the night. Dr. Steele was already angry and
ordered lamb, which Roberto knew would take a long time. When Dr. Steele asked for a second
time to check on their food because his group had tickets to a play, Roberto went to Steve, the
cook, and told him to stop making the lamb and make whatever was fastest. Steve was already
getting angry with Roberto for shouting orders at him and blaming the cooks for his rough night,
but told him he could make him a pasta dish. When Roberto relayed this news to Dr. Steele, he was
fed up and his group left the restaurant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the issue with Roberto had been addressed earlier and the cooks had tried to calmly talk to
him, some problems may have been avoided. The action of firing Roberto shows his staff that he
cannot accept an attitude like that in the workplace and will almost scare people into mouthing
off to other co workers when they are angry, which is good because they won t anger their co
workers. Giving disciplinary action to Steve is also necessary to convey the message that violence
in the workplace is not acceptable either and will ensure that the staff thinks before they act on their
anger in the

Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover And My Last...
In the poems, Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess , both written by Robert Browning, each
speaker mentions a woman whom they had once known. The poems, being considered as
dramatic monologues, depict a particular role that women have through the eyes of speaker.
Browning keeps the speakers mysterious, but lets out their true characters through the use of
the women in each of their lives. Each speaker brings their own eerie tone to the poem which
adds to the mysteriousness of their characters. Browning uses the women as a way for the
obsessive qualities of both speakers to shine through. These women are not very important
actors in the poem, but Browning uses these women to create a sense of the speakers by how
and what they say pertaining to these women. The plot line of Porphyria s Lover starts off calm,
but ends up to be quite gruesome. The woman, Porphyria, comes in from rainy weather and
makes herself at home, and let her damp hair fall, / And, at last, she sat down by my side (Lines
14 15). It is apparent from just the beginning of the poem she is comfortable around the speaker.
She lets herself in, started a fire, took off her wet clothes and sat next to the speaker. The
beginning of the poem holds a seemingly romantic quality. There is a sense of familiarity
between the two. He spends his time waiting in a cottage for her in more than one way. He is
waiting for her to return to his cottage, as well as also waiting for her love. This romantic idea is

Corpus Christi is unique in the university for being the only college founded by town and not

Corpus Christi and the Guild of the Blessed Virgin Mary pooled resources and were granted a
licence by Edward III to build what was the eighth Cambridge college, in 1352.
City mayor reminds college of its roots
The original court was modest and supported a master and two fellows. They would have studied
theology and canon law, along with their responsibilities as chaplains to the guild. The town s
people, led by the mayor, stormed the college in 1381, reminding it of its roots, protesting about the
hated candle rents , levied upon its domestic properties. This led to further peasant protests that
King Richard soon brought to a brutal conclusion.

Corpus is one of a cluster of impressive colleges and buildings facing Trumpington Street, the

Indifference to War in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front
In Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, characters such as Paul and his friends become
indifferent to shocking elements of war through constant exposure to them. For example, the
characters are unconcerned about the dangers of the front because they are accustomed to being on
the front. In another instance, Paul s friends show no emotions when they witness snipers killing
enemy soldiers. Also, Kat finds the unusual effects of mortar shells amusing. These examples prove
that through war, characters of the book have become indifferent to things that they would normally
find shocking.

However, Paul does not show any emotion in his description of his experience. Instead, he plainly
tells about the incident. Paul has become indifferent to the threat of being killed by a shell because
he is faced with this threat quite often.
Another example of indifference in the story is when Paul and his friends watch snipers killing
enemy soldiers. Kat and Albert watch in awe as a sniper scores his third kill for the day. Instead of
thinking badly about killing, Kat says to Paul that it s very good for you to see just now (229).
Kat is not affected that the snipers are killing people who are just like Kat and the snipers. Kat and
Albert have become very indifferent to killings on the battlefield. They are not very emotional
about the killing of enemies; instead, Kat and Albert compliment the shooter on his
accomplishments .
One more example of indifference in the story is Kat s indifference toward men killed by trench
mortars. Kat explains that when trench mortars hit the ground, people who are nearby are blown
out of their clothes and into the air. It s funny, says Kat, we have seen that several times now (208).
Kat is used to seeing men killed by mortars hang from trees because he has seen it many times. Kat
is especially indifferent in this unpleasant incident, and he even thinks that it is funny. Kat and his

However, when signs of growth emerge, the exact opposite happens, with Australia the third
biggest gold producer in the world being put in the frame. Gold subsequently has a positive
correlation with the AUD/USD paring. In fact, history shows that AUD/USD has had a
staggering 80% correlation to the price of gold. So, when gold booms so does AUD/USD and
when gold dips the AUD/USD drops. AUD/USD and Silver Many seem to believe that AUD
/USD and gold is the most important correlation to follow in 2017. While it s prominence can t
be denied, AUD/USD and silver actually carries more reliability. Australia has huge mining
resources and output, thus its economy is tied into the industry on a large scale. Most probably
aren t aware of the fact that mining actually equates for more than 2% of the nation s

exports. What you can take from this is that shifts in the silver market can heavily impact the
performance of the AUD/USD. USD/CAD and West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil West Texas
Intermediate (WTI) is the lead form of oil traded in North America and thus holds major influence
over the CAD. It is hardly a secret that the US consumes the most amount of oil in the world,

Michael Patton s Utilization-Focus Evaluation
H. Stanley Judd once quoted, A good plan is like a road map: it shows the destination and usually
the best way to get there. Since evaluation is judge on the uses of its findings it is important to
know where to start and where to end. The goal is to help the readers understand how evaluation is
judge, how to utilize the findings and the lasting impact on those who were part of the evaluation.
Summary:
My essay looks at Part 1 of Utilization focus Evaluation , through the eyes of author Michael
Patton, who believed that Evaluation is done for and with specific intended primary users for
specific, intended uses (2009, p.36). It presumes that evaluations are judged by their utility and use.
Evaluators should carefully consider how everything affects the use. The term use is defined by

Patton supported his claim with adequate evidence throughout the reading. The author strongly
suggests that evaluation should never be done independently, but primary intended users should be
allowed to sit at the table to help make decisions that would influence the intended use. One
example was the welfare to work program exercise where internal evaluators met to discuss the
finding of their evaluation. It is clear that no primary intended users were identified and little
thoughts if any were given to how the evaluation results would be used. For Patton, the number one
priority to good evaluation starts with primary intended users who input can help guide the
evaluation from the start to the finish. In contrast, Brandon W. Youker, author of Goal Free
Evaluation: A potential Model for the Evaluation of Social Work Programs believed in a goal free
evaluation, whereby evaluators should make observations, and measure any outcomes intended or
unintended without any knowledge, goals or even

Equal Opportunity Laws Title VII The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is
equal opportunity and the laws that go along with it. There were several equal opportunity laws
enacted from 1964 to 1991. 2 The first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which
states that an employer cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national
original with respect to employment (Dessler, 2013). 3 Title VII applies to employers with 15 or
more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies
and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government. 4 Title VII also prohibits
employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities, traits, or the
performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human Resource
Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only from
sources in which all or most potential workers are of the same race or color; requiring applicants

Importance Of Railway Transport
Rail This mode of transport is reliable and fast and one of the most important ways by which
people and goods are transported. (Train History , 2017) Rail transportation is referred to as
movement of on guideways and rails are the most common guideways. However technological
progress made monorails and magnetic levitation trains now available and although railways are a
result of the industrial revolution, they have been affected by continuous innovations, technical,
regulatory and commercial changes which have enhanced their capacity and efficiency. Therefore
railway transportis important now as it was in the late 19th century. One innovation pertains to the
quality of the rail infrastructure, particularly rail tracks (e.g. better steel, concrete ties), which
regulates the operational characteristics of their use such as speed, permitted weight, maintenance
and immunity towards the environment.
Increasing electrification and automation also improve the efficiency of rail transportation,
passenger and freight alike. For safety purposes commodities ought to be stowed on the trains in a
certain manner for guaranteed railway delivery. (Slack, 1998) Based on the implementation by
Transport Canada to strengthen the railway and transportation of dangerous goods safety systems.
The emergency directive requires all rail operators to;
Ensure that no locomotive attached to one or more loaded tank cars transporting dangerous goods is

Computer Aided Diagnostic System using Ultrasound Liver Images: An Overview
Mohamed Yaseen, Heung No Lee
School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Gwangju Institute of Scinece and
Technology, South Korea
Abstract
In this article an in depth overview is presented on Computer aided diagnostic (CAD) system s
usage for liver cancer. Besides, in a broader sense highlighting the technical aspects developed for
medical ultrasound images is also discussed. CAD system is a process that provides adequate
information that helps to analyze the Ultrasound images and helps to accurately detecting different
types of liver cancer. However, the system performance is still not significantly improved. In this
paper, firstly, we categorize the CAD system according to the four primary stages including data
preprocessing, lesion segmentation, feature extraction, selection, and Classifier. In each stage, we
review specific methods that are commonly used in most of the algorithms proposed for
computerized tissue characterization and discuss their advantages and drawbacks. Then, recent
proposed algorithms is presented in summarize form that have shown clinical value or specific
possibility to the computerized analysis of setback for ultrasound liver images. These techniques or
their combinations are the ones that are mostly used in the past few decades by the majority of
work published in the Computer aided diagnosis domain.

Macroeconomics 2 Episode 2
Episode 2: Scarcity and Choice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoVc_S_gd_0 At the beginning
of the video Dr. Mary McGlasson says that two things are true about every single person regardless
of their race, religion, and even income; which are that everyone has unlimited wants, and that
everyone has limited resources, and even if individuals were to satisfy some wants, other wants
would arise eventually. Furthermore, she defines scarcityas something that happens when there is
not enough resources, or services to satisfy everyone s wants, at a price zero, and thus price tags
come around. With this in mind, she said that a drawback of the system of charging for the
scarce resources is that the rich are the one s capable of acquiring more of those resources,
leaving the poor in great disadvantage. Dr. Mary states that if something has a price it s because
that product or good is scarce, however water is an examples of a resource that does not have a
deliberate monetary price, yet it is scarce in some places. She ends her video by re stating that

Statistical Functionalism And The Wi Thomas Theorem
Sociologists collect data in many different ways: by conducting surveys, secondary analysis,
participant observation, unobtrusive measures, experiments, and by looking at various documents
written by various sources at various times in the past. They can also find their data in movies.
Movies contain as much human behavioral data as newspapers do. Movies are made by and
about people in different social settings and tell us a lot about different and typical aspects of
social life. One such movie that sociologists can collect data from is The Proposal. This particular

Mr. Gilbertson, an employee of the Immigration Bureau, threatens Andrew with prosecution for
marital fraud. To prepare for their next immigration meeting, Andrew and Margaret will spend the
weekend getting to know things about each other that engaged couples would typically know. To
make their story more convincing, they head to Andrew s Gammy Annie s ninetieth birthday party
in Sitka, Alaska; this is Andrew s hometown. Margaret, not knowing how to function in Alaska, is
at Andrew s mercy considering she has more at stake in their arrangement. Other issues soon
arise, such as: Andrew s family developing a liking for Margaret, Andrew s old girlfriend showing

function that when fulfilled, contributes to society s equilibrium. Andrew and Margaret are both

Consequences Of The Middle Passage
With South Carolina s fertile land that was great for growing crops, such as rice, indigo, and
cotton, it wasn t long before slaves began being brought into the colony. Many people came to
South Carolina from the Barbados and already had a well developed slave system in place, so
they brought it with them. While some slaves came from the Barbados, most of the slaves were
brought over from Africa, and more specifically, the west coast of Africa. From Africa, they
travelled to the New World via Middle Passage. The Middle Passage was part of the triangular
trade that existed between America, Europe, and Africa. It was an extremely harsh boat ride in
which slaves from Africa were brought to the West Indies. The Africans were tightly packed

Passing and Human Relationships
Passing and Human Relationships
The Harlem Renaissance was a turning point for many African Americans. A vast amount of
literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African
Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness
and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring
the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race
relations in America. Nella Larsen s novel Passing concentrates on this theme with the story of
Clare, a tragic mulatto who passes as a white person. Not only is Passing representative of the plight

The fact that she has to deny her identity in order to feel safe eventually leads to her realization
that her life has become a lie. Clare tells Irene that she nearly died of terror the whole nine months
before Margery (her daughter) was born for fear that she might be dark (Larsen 168). Her husband
nicknamed her Nig, because she gets darker each day.
Although Clare s desire to return to the African Americancommunity outwardly seemed merely
whimsical, inwardly, Irene begins to see something groping, and hopeless, and yet so absolutely
determined inside this woman (Larsen 200). Clare will stop at nothing to leave the life she once
desired in order to re enter the African American community. Clare begins to realize that her
desire to return to her African American heritage overshadows any disaster it may cause. In
order to get the things she wants badly enough, she d do anything, hurt anybody, throw anything
away (Larsen 210). In reality, Clare s ultimate loss of soul is realized in the fact that she is
willing to forsake her family, including her daughter, in order to reclaim her racial identity. This,
not her eventual death, becomes Clare s ultimate tragedy. She loses something of her own soul
living in the world of white men. Clare feels that society forces her to abandon her family simply
because part of her is African American. The fact that Clare pretends to be white in order to

The Influences of Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

while Denzel studied journalism and drama, this compelled both of them to become two of the

In the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption. Morgan plays several pertinent roles that stimulate
and inspire. Firstly, Morgan s role is introduced as the go to man, acquiring things for Andy.
Secondly, Morgan s role as Red, develops a friendship with Andy as well. Lastly, Red, transpires
into Andy s advocate, when Andy is caught up in multiple fights and solitary sentences. The
reasoning to its relevance is quite simple. We all need someone who can acquire things we need,

Driftless Area
I live in part of the upper Mid West known as the Driftless area. The terrain contains high bluffs and
hills with narrow valleys. The Driftless area, unlike the rest of the Mid West, escaped the terrain
smoothing, mineral depositing influences of the ice sheets during the glacial period (Jefferson,
2010). The bedrock contains limestone, sandstoneand shale, and is exposed or near the surface
making it popular for sandmining. About 95 present of the frac sand mining in the United State is
done here.Driftless Area When the sandstone layer in the bedrock is broken down and crushed
into individual granules it is called silica sand. This type of sand is very uniform, non porous and

This material is often stockpiled separately on the site for use during mine reclamation
(Wisconsin). Unfortunately the wild life is displaced, bird migration is interrupted and the
vegetation is destroyed. The Driftless area has a lot of plants that are unique to this area only.
Explosives are then used to break the bedrock apart. The unwanted rock such as the limestone
and shale are stock piled to be used later for the reclamation process. Excavation equipment and
dump trucks bring the sandstone to the crusher that is located on the mining site. The crusher
breaks the sandstone chunks into individual sand grains. The sand has to be filtered to remove
the smaller grains of sand that are not acceptable for fracking. The entire process causes a release
of silica dust. Inhaling silica dust can lead to serious, sometimes fatal illnesses including silicosis,
lung cancer, tuberculosis (in those with silicosis), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(COPD). Silica exposure has also been linked to renal disease and other cancers. In 1996, the
World Health Organization International Agency on Cancer Research (IARC) identified silica dust
as a known human carcinogen (Center). Due to this risk factor the federal government regulates
workers exposed to silica dust, but there are no limits set for the general public (Wisconsin). This

Good And Evil As Presented In The Novella
Argument about the Nature of Good and Evil As Presented In the Novella
According to the Ester and Joshua (125), the concept of evil takes on two sides; the broad concept
and the narrow notion. The broad concept presents any bad state of affairs, wrongful action or a
flaw in character. It is into two, which are the natural evil and the moral evil. Natural evil is non
intended bad state of affairs while moral evil, on the other hand, results from the intentional bad
state of the affairs. The narrow concept presents only the morally unacceptable actions, characters,
and events. Good on the other hand was associated with the notion of morally right behavior.

Born in 1908 Henri Cartier Bresson s career in the arts began at a young age, on viewing another

Summary Of Oliver SacksThe Man Who Mistoook His Wife For A...
Tying Neurological Research to Readings
Jose Massana
Florida International University Tying Neurological Research to Readings
In Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, he denotes a deficit is an impairment
or incapacity of neurological function; such as loss of speech, loss of language, loss of memory,
loss of vision loss of dexterity, or loss of identity (Sacks, 1985). The specific neurological disorder
that is highlighted in chapter one is Visual Agnosia, which is a deficit associated with poor primary
visual processing that affects shape perception, figures, object, face and letter recognition (Serino,
et al., 2014). Other subtypes of visual agnosia that also seemed to fit the descriptions that Sacks
shared is prosopagnosia, which is the inability to recognize human faces (Shah, 2016), and
pantomime agnosia, characterized as the inability to understand gestures (Gonzalez, Mack,
Heilman, K., 1986).
In chapter one, Sacks talks about a patient dubbed Dr P, who was a musician, singer, artist, and a
teacher at the Local of Music. Dr P had problems recognizing his students faces, which is when
his problems were first recognized. He could not recognize people until they started talking or
moving, and would see faces where there were none, such as in furniture, water hydrants, and
parking meters. However, this did not seem to trouble him, and did not seek any sort of medical
help, until years later when he developed diabetes. He went to an ophthalmologist, who told him his
vision was fine, but that there was something the matter with the visual part of his brain. That was
when he was referred to Oliver Sacks, a neurologist.
Sacks did not think that the issue was dementia, but did notice something odd about the man.
Sacks noticed that Dr P would fixate on details about his face, but not on the face or expressions
as a whole. After an initial neurological exam, Sacks noticed that the man s reflexes were a bit
abnormal on his left side, as he had taken off his shoe, but failed to realize that he did not have it
on. He also had trouble looking at a pin on the floor, but only if it was put on his left side. It is
interesting to note that the left hemifield of both eyes is sent to the right

of the developing world and if it must be that I secretly love fried plantain then that must be

The Theories Of Piaget And Vygotsky
Critically evaluate the theories of Piaget and Vygotsky in explaining children s learning and
development
Learning and development is a major aspect of everyone and their day to day lives. Some people
consider the term learning to have two definitions, these are informative learning which allows
people to learn what fits their mental models and transformative learning which is the process of
changing these mental models (Heorhiadi et al, 2014). There are two main theorists Jean Piaget and
Lev Vygotsky, whose theories will be used to explain the way children learn and develop.
Piaget (1954) proposed one of the most influential theories of cognitive development also known
as a stage theory as it consists of a set of separate stages through which every child progresses
during child hood and adolescence. His theory is regarded as universal, therefore the background
and culture of the child is not taken into account. Piaget considered a child to be a small scientist
actively seeking and exploring the world around them, this way of thinking has contributed to our
understanding of the world around us and how children think. Piaget also stated that the children
must pass through each stage in order, even though some children may pass at a different rate than
others. The main aspect of the theory centres on cognitive schemas which children develop.
Schemas are cognitive structures which are used as a representation of the world around the child.
The schemas will adjust and take

The Theme Of Dreams In The Crossover
In The Crossover written by Kwame Alexander, there are many themes that readers can find in
the novel. One of the themes is that dream is very important for one to live a better life. This is
also the theme in the poem Dreams written by Langston Hughes. Having one s own dream is
very important because the process of achieving the dream is more of value than the result itself.
Dreams can enrich people s lives and lighten their inside world. In The Crossover, Josh Bell is
fond of playing basketball and his dream is to go to the University of Duke. In order to reach his
goal, he practices so hard in school and home. I let him win and get ready to practice harder,
(Alexander 57). The coach says one who runs the fastest does not need to practice. Josh Bell is
the quickest on the team; however, he deliberately lets Vondie win. This is because he wants to
practice more and become stronger than anyone else on the team. It is an example of how Josh
tries to make his dream come true. In the process of realizing his dreams, Josh not only improves
his basketball skills, but he also fulfills his life by making friends with his teammates. In the
poem Dreams, the writer says that Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field
/ Frozen with snow, (Hughes 5 8). These lines show that dream is what brings people joy of life. If
one does not have his own dream to realize, one will not feel any passion in life. According to the
two pieces of text, dream lightens people s

Security And Application Software Within A School...
In this report, I will be discussing operating systems, management of information, security and
application software within a school environment and personal use. The context of this report
will be inclusive of my internal assessments of which I have completed at school, and at home.
Operating software (OS) An operating system has the ability to manage both the hardware and
software of a computer or device. It is the most important part of a computer and controls every
action and task which is carried out. Computers and devices require both hardware and software
for it to operate. Without one, you will not have a functioning machine. All desktops utilise
operating systems, of which the software (or OS) is a collection of code installed onto the
computer s hard drive and is intangible. It includes the computer programs, folders, files and
documents. The internet browser, like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome that allows you to visit
online web pages and the operating system that the browser is running on is considered software,
while computer hardware is any physical device used in or with your computer or machine. It is
something you can physically touch. Examples of hardware include a mouse, monitor, keyboard
and motherboards. The interfaces of applications, device management, processor management,

Analyzing Pmj s Method For Achieving Success Outside Of...
Ever long for the good ol days of music? If so, Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) can take you back to
whenever those glory days might have been. Imagined and created by Scott Bradlee, a trained
jazz pianist, PMJ takes popular music from today or the recent past and remakes it in all kinds of
vintage genres, from 30 s jazz, to Motown, to bluegrass hoedown. The group consists of around
forty artists, many of whom are classically trained, that put out weekly videos featuring any various
combination of them at a time. These videos are put up on their Youtube channel and regularly gain
millions of views each. Because of their internet inception, PMJ has bypassed the existing music
industryalmost entirely, and, in spite of that, has been able to remain profitable through producing
music. This is unique indeed, as even artists that sign on with major label companies are often left
in the red. This paper will analyze PMJ s method for achieving success outside of the traditional
music industry, will look at how their music fits in the broader landscape of popular music, and will
show that their approach to producing music is a good, reproducible model for other artists to
follow.
PMJ s rise to popularity is extremely non traditional in nature. Typically, an aspiring band signs a
contract with a recording label and then has to create a certain number of songs for a certain
number of albums and go on tour for a relatively pre determined amount of venues. The recording
label has total control

remedy to mind related problems such as stress, finding a better connection to the body, and
creating an overall happier athlete. Stress is a huge part of many professional athletes jobs, and
with so many fans and so much riding upon their shoulders, football players feel this more than
most. Yoga is not just strength and injury training; it will also soothe a high strung feeling in
athletes about the sport, or any other life worry. This is supported by the science of Natural Killer
(NK) cells that are the body s way of fighting stress. NK cells are clinically shown to increase with

The Cultural Value Of Pandas
Another remarkable value panda withheld is its extraordinary cultural value. The two colors the
panda has might be the two most extreme any species. It is black and white. Therefore the giant
panda is said to be a physical manifestation of Yin Yang due to its black and white spots.
According to the Encyclopedia Britiannica, Yin Yang is the two complementary forces that make
up all aspects and phenomena of life ( Yinyang ). Indeed panda set as the best example of
demonstration of how Yin and Yang work in nature. When Yin and Yang are perfectly balanced.
There will be one less thing to represent this unique idea if we do not save these endangered species
. Furthermore, pandas are used as symbols in various platforms. One of the world s largest
conservation organization, World Wide Fund , has used panda as their symbol. It is mentioned
on their website that the WWF founders would like a strong and recognizable symbol to
overcome all language barriers and thus panda is agreed to be the best choice for the logo of
WWF ( Giant ). The panda logo of WWF is iconic and has recognized as a universal symbol for
conservation movement. It moves people. Apart from appearing as the logo of WWF, it was also

History Of Papio Hamadryas And Theropithecus Gelada
Introduction Papio hamadryas and Theropithecus gelada are commonly referred to as
hamadryas baboons and gelada baboons. These two species are both classified as Old World
monkeys, meaning they share a common ancestor dating back 20 million years ago in Africa.
Having a common lineage usually indicate close relatedness in terms of phylogeny. This is seen
with hamadryas and geladas, they fall under the same order of classification, which is Primates,
down to the same subfamily, known as cercopithecidae. Although having a common lineage allows
them to share certain characteristics and behaviors, these two species of baboons still encompass
divergent qualities. Habitat and Location Hamadryas baboons are found in Ethiopia, Eritrea,
Djibouti, Sudan, and Somalia. Additionally, they inhabit certain parts of the Arabian Peninsula,
like Saudi Arabia and Yemen (Schreier and Swedell, 2012: 581). These areas vary in terms of the
environment; some are filled with green meadows, plains, short savannahs, or sub deserts (Napier,
1985). One can assume that Hamadryas baboons are well scattered in different regions of each
country, however due to limited resources, they are frequently found in water holes. Yet even with
resource limitations, they are still considered highly adaptive primates. Unlike Hamadryas baboons,
Gelada baboons are only found in Ethiopia and Eritrea, therefore there population is less scattered.
Inside Ethiopia is the Semien Mountains National Park, here a majority of

Failures Of The Populist Party
At the end of the 19th century the United States were in a time called The Gilded Age , coined by
Mark Twain; a time of mass immigration, Western settlement, and industrialization. Out of these
times emerged a political party named the Populist party, later changed to the People s party. This
party stood for the working man, like farmers and factory laborers. Though this party meant well, it
did not last long. Surviving until 1896, the Populist party eventually merged with the Democratic
party. With this being said, the Populist party was a short lived dream and failure. The Populist
party, as previously stated, stood for and supported the working class. From farmers in the west to
industrial workers in the east, the Populist party wanted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This popularity was lost due to the fact that the Populist party s previously mentioned progressive
ideas, like 8 hour work days, senators elected by the people, graduated income tax, etc., were not
popular beliefs and wants in the late 19th century. Though mostly aligned left like the Democratic
party, these ideas held the party back and led to most either choosing the Republicans or the
Democrats. Eventually in 1896 part of the Populist party dissolved and fused with the Democratic
party. The other Populists decided to continue on as their own thing and not join the Democrats;
they lasted until 1908. After the fusion with the democrats, the Populists original presidential
nominee, William Jennings Bryan, flew a new flag; that of the democrats. Unfortunately for the
democrats and the Populists that joined them, Bryan lost the election. Concerning the topic of the
Populists failure, these events played a major role in it because they weren t even the Populists
anymore, they were democrats, and those that chose to continue on under the title of the People s
party didn t last much longer after the

Social Causes Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution was an event that would rattle France s Bourbon monarchy and their
neighboring royal families of Europe. Stemming from multiple causes such as the lack of food and
other necessities, a growing social inequality in the face of the Enlightenment, and economic
decline, the French Revolution bred dissent, notably among the masses in Paris. At the height on
the Revolution, it became as much of a crusade against their fellow countrymen as it was against
their outside enemies. After seizing power, political factions consistently accused each other of
working against the Revolution, and royalist insurrections fueled the disarray.
Leading up to Revolution itself was the growing social inequality. With the centralization of the
French state due to the efforts of French kings such as Louis XIV, French common citizens found
themselves subjected to the will of a nobility that became increasingly hostile to any sort of
concessions. Many families were struggling to make ends meet while seeing those at the top of
society turn a blind eye. Warfare contributed to this as well, notably the Seven Years War in which
France lost much of it s New World territory and the American War of Independence after which
the French came away with little spoils, not nearly enough to make up for the money spent on the
war. With their country on the verge of economic collapse, French prices soared, forcing French
commoners into an increasingly small box. Faced with an increasing

Comparing Valentine And To His Coy Mistress
Compare Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress In this
assignment I will be comparing two love poems Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell
s To His Coy Mistress . The poem Valentine was written is the twentieth century and in it the
speaker uses onion as a metaphor to show her love. The poem To His Coy Mistress was written in
the seventeenth century and is about the poet trying to persuade his Mistress to sleep with him.
Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy is very different to any other love poem as you would expect to read
something romantic, instead she writes about an onion. The poem is divided into four main stanzas
and each stanza tells us something new about the relationship... Show more content on

She explains that she does not wish to be unkind. She is being realistic. I m trying to be truthful.
Not a cute card or a kiss o gram she does not believe in giving commercial tokens of love like a
card or a bunch of flowers. In the third stanza she gives the onion, I give you an onion She uses a
metaphor. Its fierce kiss will stay on you lip the bitter taste on an onion remains on a person s
lips. The memory of a kiss can stay with one forever. Possessive and faithful as we are, for as
long as we are She suggests that love affairs only last for the time that two people are interested
in each other or it could mean till they die. The fourth stanza carries on with the extended
metaphor as she insists that he accepts her gift Take it . She compares the loops of an onion to a
wedding ring and implies that marriage can deaden love and passion. Marriage is lethal in her
opinion. In the extended metaphor she expresses her feeling, sometimes people never recover
from a broken romance. They will continue to experience heartache, pain, bitterness. Its scent
will cling to your fingertips, cling to your knife. The repetition of the word cling is effective.
The word knife conveys the image of a wound. The poet has obviously been hurt in previous
relationships. As we just saw above the title of the poem is Valentine s and we first expect it to be
a romantic poem but as we read on we see that it had

Analysis Of Genesis, And Andromache
In the contexts of their own time periods, both Sarah, in Genesis, and Andromache, in the Iliad,
have similar roles in that they are both confined to the duties within the household. Despite these
societal constrictions, both women find ways to exert some power and influence within their
designated roles in society, but the degree of power they have varies. Sarahholds more power
because Godwill bless her and will make her a part of his plan for Abraham, so she can manipulate
events in the context of this plan, whereas Andromache is restricted by her husband s moira
because the society values the lives and honor of men to determine the status for women (Gen.

6.451 452). Her life is centered around Hector because without him there will be nothing
left...only pain (Il. 6.434 435). Without him she has no meaning to her life, as well as no one to
take care of her because males are the heads of household in Athenian society. Her desire to keep
him alive causes her to display power and try to convince him to change his fate. Although in the
end she is powerless to change her husband s destiny because not even the God s can change a
person s fate the very act of her trying to appeal to him to change his beliefs demonstrates the
tremendous amount of power and value that her opinion can hold when it comes to events centered
around her husband s life. If she did not have this power and her opinion was not valued at all, she
would have stayed silent and let Hector s actions do the talking. With her voicing her opinion, it
conveys how although women are subordinate to men, they can still have an impact on them, even
though they might not be able to change their fate.
While Sarah has power like Andromache, it manifests in a different form. Andromache only has
limited powers to try to persuade her husband, while Sarah holds the power to influence the plot
line and to make her husband s covenant with god come to fruition. Initially,

Jane Mcgonigal s Reality Is Broken

becoming increasingly social with 80% reporting being part of a gaming community (Fredrickson).
This study states that online games provide a communication tool to people since social
relationships have become a significant role in the gameindustry. Jane McGonigal s book Reality
Is Broken, published in 2011 by the Penguin Group, discusses why games make people better and
how they can change the world. Among the chapters, chapter 5, Stronger Social Connectivity,

Appealing to logos means persuading readers by the use of reasoning, and helps to support
claims or arguments logically. Firstly, she gives an account of happy embarrassment by citing
an expert s points. Happy embarrassment is when people tease each other, and it brings out
slight emotions of hurt and embarrassment. McGonigal says that teasing each other is one of the
fastest and most effective ways to intensify people s positive feelings for each other (McGonigal
84). To support her points, she draws on Dacher Keltner, who is a leading researcher of prosocial
emotions at the University of California, and talks about his experiments on the psychological
benefits of teasing. McGonigal provides reliable data or citations from experts, instead of using
only her assertions. The reason she mentions experts is to make readers believe her data are
reliable or credible. If McGonigal had given ambiguous data or only her own experience, readers
would have thought of her arguments as unreliable or doubtful so that they might not easily agree
with her points. Therefore, she uses opinions from various experts to avoid readers becoming
suspicious of her information. While McGonigal mentions Keltner s points, she does not simply
cite experts thoughts. She smoothly joins her points to the expert s points by writing, Keltner s

George Still, a British pediatrician, published lectures to the Royal College of Physicians in

The disorder s name has changed due to scientific advances and field trials that were conducted. AD
/HD (A.D.D or ADHD) is not one specific disorder because it comes with variations. It is now
divided into three subtypes, based off of the main features that are associated with the disorder:
impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness (Attention Deficit Disorder). The subtypes of AD
/HD are the Predominantly Combined Type, Predominantly Inattentive Type, and Predominantly
Hyperactive Impulsive Type. The Predominantly Combined type of ADHD is the most common out
of the three. Individuals who have this type have symptoms from Predominantly Inattentive ADHD
and Predominantly Hyperactive Impulsive ADHD (Types of ADHD). Some symptoms include not
listening and being unable to follow or understand instructions, whether simple or easy.
Predominantly Inattentive ADHD has symptoms such not paying attention to detail, being
distracted or forgetful, and avoiding tasks that involve effort (Types of ADHD). In order to be
diagnosed with this type of ADHD, one must have at least six of the nine symptoms as well as a
few of the Hyperactive Impulsive Type of ADHD. The Hyperactive Impulsive type deals with
symptoms such as fidgeting, squirming, and speaking too much (Types of ADHD). Once again, to

The Munitions Maker What did the archaeologists find at the excavation conducted in the cabin
area? Have you ever wondered what a blacksmith and munitions maker at a Sugar Plantation in the
1800s was like? At the Levi Jordan Plantation, an excavation revealed a cabin that indicates a
resident that worked lead, manufactured lead shot, and possibly other metals. This cabin is now
called the Smith s Cabin . At the Plantation, western artifacts used in African cultural context have
been found during the excavation. Indications from these artifacts show that although these African
and African Americans were no longer in their original cultural context, they still maintained some
of their African cultural beliefs. The excavation of the Munition Makers cabin revealed information
about the Munitions Maker, the purpose of the cabin, and showed findings of animal remains. First,

consists mainly of deer. The domestics consisted of pigs and cattle, although some of the pigs
might have been feral (feral existing in a natural state, as animals or plants; not domesticated or

Abstract Expressionism In Modern Society
During the time of the 19th and early 20th century, became a time known as modern society,
known for its modernity and time of modernism. During this time, artists were flourishing and
growing into their own skin, pushing the limits in art, never seen before. This was a time where
society became dominated by industrialization, modernization around civilization. The focus
became more on machine age life than ever before. But with machine age life came the city life,
below the night lights where new art forms developed. This was a time where the man by the
name of Edward Hopper became apart of the spotlight. Hopper was considered a realist type of
artist. His imagery of figures within urban settings goes well beyond their role as modern
cityscapes, exposing the under layer of the human experience. Though he was considered a
realist, his work was during a time between the World Wars. By considering the dramatic use of
soft lighting, smallest action and representation of smaller spaces, Hopper led the way towards
Abstract Expressionism. A hot topic during this time was discussion of work led by Willard
Huntington Wright. Wright believed that, art had principles of form and organization that could
be rationally discussed and that it progressed toward a goal of purity (p.16, Hills). Wright s work
and analysis was known as being a formalist meaning, modern art tends toward the elimination of
all those accretions so beloved by the general literature, drama,

The Importance Of A Steady Source Of Light
For thousands of years, man had used the sun as the main source of light during the day and fire
by night. Light progressed from crude shells filled with moss or animal fat to pottery vessels
filled with whale oil2. In 1802, Humphry David placed two wires from a battery to a piece of
carbon and created the first electric light. While it did not produce light for very long and was too
bright for everyday use, it gave hope to inventors everywhere who believed that a steady source of
light could be created3. It was not until almost seventy years and countless hours of research later,
that the modern electric light came into existence. This discovery literally changed the world.
Thomas Edison recognized the importance of a steady source of light and is credited with the first
of several patents on a bulb that used a carbonized bamboo filament. But perhaps his most important
contribution was to recognize the future of the light bulb and he went on to invent a method of
transporting electric current and tracking electric usage. Other inventors took the light bulb to its
next level with the invention of the tungsten filament and how to use an inert gas like nitrogen
inside the bulb to increase efficiency4. The first light bulb was called an incandescent bulb. This
light bulb was originally produced by hand, but now the manufacturing process is entirely
automated and light bulbs are produced in a machine that can produce more than 50,000 bulbs per
hour5. The production

As hard as it is to believe that the most free and together country isn t all that free and together the
United States of America has no government sponsored paid family or medical leave program. With
this little to no support from the government for people starting families, what is usually a happy
and exciting event for families can be turned into a tragic ultimatum, leaving parents with the
decision of whether they want to start a family or be able to pay their bills. In 1993, The Family and
Medical Leave Act began to guarantee employees up to 12 weeks unpaid leave, but due to a
number of exceptions, the FMLA only ended up covering about 60 percent of American workers
with this guarantee (Dusenbury). In addition to the tough

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Forest
The bus took turn after turn as I admired the green wilderness. I never knew that such beauty
existed in the outskirts of the town. After going through a lot of twisted roads, the bus stopped
in the end at our destination the picnic spot. As soon as everyone came out of the bus, our guide
greeted us. Please don t wander off deep into the forest. It can prove to be very dangerous,
cautioned the guide. Everyone nodded in agreement but no one asked why. While everyone was
busy making their tents; I was taking a lot of pictures, mostly the pictures of the natural beauty.
The tall, brown trees with long thin branches were wrapped with green climbers which were the
only shelter in here and the low whisperings of the nearby stream sounded so pleasant. The
beauty of the peacock, the merry monkeys swinging from trees to trees, and the rabbits
scurrying into hiding; the flock of ducks moving in and out of the stream and the colourful birds
that were flying high in the blue sky were a sight worth admiring. As I wandered off deep into
the forest, I witnessed the dark side of this natural beauty... irate wild animals and the angry
nature. The menacing howls of wild animals and the angry roar of the lions made me sweat
copiously. The sly foxes were closely keeping an eye on my movements. These cruel animals
were frightening the living daylight out of me. Looking here and there, I tried to find a way back to
my camp but in vain; in other words, I was L O S T! The shuddering fear of

  • 2. New France Contributions To Canada New France In the development of what is known today as Canada, during the Elizabethan era, there was a series was highly documented and, surprisingly, not well known occurrences. The colonization of New France set the foundation for Canada. The early settlers grew as a nation while holding true to some teachings of the French. The French were originally on the search for an alternative route for Asia and instead stumbled upon what was soon to become their greatest achievement. The French set out to trade in Asia, but found ever growing success from the new land , despite every complication. The development of New France began with explorers who established a good reputation for both the colonies and themselves. Esteemed military and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And everything else can find in a book or online, I am not going to do that today, I am sure you are not interested in the regurgitation of Oscar Wilde facts. I am sure that you know most of what is written there better than the people that wrote those facts on Wikipedia any way. I am not going to talk about the importance of being earnest in any way shape or form, trust me for I am in the gutter looking up at the stars right now and everything that is written here will probably be a huge lie. We learn things on a parallel level with plays on one hand we learn what the play is telling us from the dialogue the actors say. But on the other hand, we learn what the playwright was trying to tell us. And in Oscar Wilde play the important of being earnest, there s a lesson in the story about lying well just get you all tied up and in a bigger and deeper situation that you started, but it also does this by poking fun and all the high and mighty aristocrats of the Victorian era. It was Saturday night live for the Victorian era, it was it poke fun at situations we cannot always change right away. • 4. Memory And The Psychodynamic Theory The two concepts that I resonated with are Memory and the Psychodynamic theory. Starting with the Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces underlying human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood experience. This theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with psychoanalysis, a type of psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts and emotions so that the person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is Memory; understanding how memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an essential key to attaining knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Memory involves remembering and forgetting. I chose the two concepts because throughout the class they stood out to the most. Understanding the conscious, subconscious mindand also memory. I m interested in understanding the human behavior. The psychodynamic theory, I didn t really think much about it. But when I got to psychology learning about this theory stuck out to me, it made so much sense. I ve always thought that what happens in out childhood molds the person you are today, so when learning about the psychodynamic theory everything that I thought came to light. The emphasis on unconscious motives and desires, as well as the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. But memory was the most interesting to me, finding out ... Introduction The purpose of this article is to explain the construct of job satisfaction and how job satisfaction can make failure on the performance of employees in an organization. This article will be modified to the positive and negative effects of Job satisfaction. Secondly, the essay review will discuss the relationship between employee motivation, job satisfaction and employee achievement. Organizational goal of high arrangement has also been reach of high level of achievement through productivity and effectiveness (Locke and Lathan, 2000,p.p248 250). In other to obtain that, there is a need for achieving high level of performance improvement of an Organization. Happy worker leads to more and increased job performance. That is why every organization tries to make a contributive and pleased work force to reach the wellbeing of the organization. There is confusion and controversy among of employee attitudes and job satisfaction indeed at a time when employees are progressively important for organizational success and competing. As recommended indirectly in a study of HR professionals the major manager knowledge gaps in this area are: 1. The lead of employee attitudes 2.The results of positive or negative job satisfactions 3.How to measure and influence employee attitudes. 1. My action research project has four children the majority are two to nine year of age that can benefit for technologies in tasks at school and home with and without special needs. • 7. The Dual Purpose Of Art In Django, By Quentin Tarantino Django did a great job of expressing the dual purpose of art. Write and director Quentin Tarantino, delivered very deep emotional arousal and entertainment with this film. From my prospective Tarantino use the dual purpose of art as a magnifying glass. To give his artistic view on slavery. Through the basic elements of dramaand the six plotdevices. For example, take the introduction scene with Dr. Schultz, Django, and Calvin Candie. This scene diction of the N word was used a number of time. Which I felt it was too emotional arouse the audience thoughts as the Mandigo fight took place. The fight in this scene appeal to both of the purpose or art. The fight entertains and also raise emotions of the audience upon the fact that black males during that time period was forced to fight each other till the death, with only one survivor standing. The world created by this film gives it verisimilitude, and believability. The writer and director did a great job with this movie. He delivered us with a piece that has believable multi dimensional characters, who are fearless in their pursuit of their desires. Which in terms give me the understanding that during that time period conflicts faced by slaves all related to the theme survival of the fittest , and live fight another day. For example, take the character Django after he had surrender and was sold to the mining company by Ms. Candie, he found a way to get back to the plantation to rescue his wife. King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi give birth to Simba but Mufasa s brother Scar is displeased by it because Simba would replace him as the heir to the throne. Time passes and Mufasa finally takes young Simba on a tour where he teaches Simbato be a King and the circle of life. Then, Scar tricks Simba and his friend Nala to explore a graveyard which Mufasa has forbidden them to go. Some hyenas spot Simba and try to attack but Mufasa gets there on time and rescues them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie has parts that resembles a monarchy and victimization. Lion king is depicted as a story of a contemporary America. Mufasa represented ideal of the free, tolerant, compassionate society that had been evolving in this country. Scar on the other hand, doesn t care about his social image. He is greedy and only cares about the rich. Scar and the hyenas can be considered as rapacious politicians in Washington. Or he can also be presented as leading the hyenas on a Nazi like military march. When Mufasa explains Simba why them eating the antelopes is fine can be depicted as the hierarchical capitalist system. The lower classes are the grass that support the antelopes of the middle class. The upper class happily feed on the middle class while the lower class scavenge off the scraps of decaying waste and leftovers produced by the lions. Scar convincing Simba that he was responsible for Mufasa s death is similar to people believing that its their own fault that discrimination, cultural and educational deprivation occur. Simba leaves his kingdom and feels purposeless until he meets Timon and Pumbaa who believe in Hedonism (maximizing pleasure). On the other hand, Scar becomes a dictator of the kingdom with his hyenas. Their greediness results in the kingdom becoming a bleak area. Faith is personified by Rafiki. He brings the rightful king back and restores the Circle of Life. The Lions can be presented as racists because when Scar brings back the hyenas to the kingdom, the shock on the lions faces displayed their racism. Which was no different to ours before the Civil War. The Circle of Life resumes when Simba returns to his rightful place. After few years, Simba has a cub of his own. • 9. Sandstone Country Club Incident Essay On an extremely hot August night at Sandstone Country Club, an incident occurred between a server and a cook. Roberto, the server, was not receiving great tips and was having a tough night with his tables, due to the high capacity of people getting dinner and the heat making customers and other workers impatient. When Dr. Steele and his table sat at one of his tables, he knew he had to try his hardest to keep him happy because he was a generous tipper but very critical if the service is bad. Almost everything that could go wrong with Dr. Steele s order went wrong. First, he ordered a special that had already run out for the night. Dr. Steele was already angry and ordered lamb, which Roberto knew would take a long time. When Dr. Steele asked for a second time to check on their food because his group had tickets to a play, Roberto went to Steve, the cook, and told him to stop making the lamb and make whatever was fastest. Steve was already getting angry with Roberto for shouting orders at him and blaming the cooks for his rough night, but told him he could make him a pasta dish. When Roberto relayed this news to Dr. Steele, he was fed up and his group left the restaurant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The action of firing Roberto shows his staff that he cannot accept an attitude like that in the workplace and will almost scare people into mouthing off to other co workers when they are angry, which is good because they won t anger their co workers. • 10. Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover And My Last... In the poems, Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess , both written by Robert Browning, each speaker mentions a woman whom they had once known. The poems, being considered as dramatic monologues, depict a particular role that women have through the eyes of speaker. Browning keeps the speakers mysterious, but lets out their true characters through the use of the women in each of their lives. Each speaker brings their own eerie tone to the poem which adds to the mysteriousness of their characters. Browning uses the women as a way for the obsessive qualities of both speakers to shine through. These women are not very important actors in the poem, but Browning uses these women to create a sense of the speakers by how and what they say pertaining to these women. The plot line of Porphyria s Lover starts off calm, but ends up to be quite gruesome. The woman, Porphyria, comes in from rainy weather and makes herself at home, and let her damp hair fall, / And, at last, she sat down by my side (Lines 14 15). It is apparent from just the beginning of the poem she is comfortable around the speaker. She lets herself in, started a fire, took off her wet clothes and sat next to the speaker. The beginning of the poem holds a seemingly romantic quality. There is a sense of familiarity between the two. He spends his time waiting in a cottage for her in more than one way. He is waiting for her to return to his cottage, as well as also waiting for her love. This romantic idea is seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corpus Christi is unique in the university for being the only college founded by town and not gown in other words established by town s people and not the ruling class or clergy. The Guild of Corpus Christi and the Guild of the Blessed Virgin Mary pooled resources and were granted a licence by Edward III to build what was the eighth Cambridge college, in 1352. City mayor reminds college of its roots The original court was modest and supported a master and two fellows. They would have studied theology and canon law, along with their responsibilities as chaplains to the guild. The town s people, led by the mayor, stormed the college in 1381, reminding it of its roots, protesting about the hated candle rents , levied upon its domestic properties. This led to further peasant protests that King Richard soon brought to a brutal conclusion. Indifference to War in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front In Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, characters such as Paul and his friends become indifferent to shocking elements of war through constant exposure to them. For example, the characters are unconcerned about the dangers of the front because they are accustomed to being on the front. In another instance, Paul s friends show no emotions when they witness snipers killing enemy soldiers. Also, Kat finds the unusual effects of mortar shells amusing. Another example of indifference in the story is when Paul and his friends watch snipers killing enemy soldiers. Kat and Albert watch in awe as a sniper scores his third kill for the day. Instead of thinking badly about killing, Kat says to Paul that it s very good for you to see just now (229). Kat is not affected that the snipers are killing people who are just like Kat and the snipers. Kat and Albert have become very indifferent to killings on the battlefield. They are not very emotional about the killing of enemies; instead, Kat and Albert compliment the shooter on his accomplishments . One more example of indifference in the story is Kat s indifference toward men killed by trench mortars. Kat explains that when trench mortars hit the ground, people who are nearby are blown out of their clothes and into the air. It s funny, says Kat, we have seen that several times now (208). So, when gold booms so does AUD/USD and when gold dips the AUD/USD drops. AUD/USD and Silver Many seem to believe that AUD /USD and gold is the most important correlation to follow in 2017. While it s prominence can t be denied, AUD/USD and silver actually carries more reliability. Australia has huge mining resources and output, thus its economy is tied into the industry on a large scale. Most probably aren t aware of the fact that mining actually equates for more than 2% of the nation s employment. On top of that, mining contributes to approximately around 35% of the nation s exports. What you can take from this is that shifts in the silver market can heavily impact the performance of the AUD/USD. USD/CAD and West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is the lead form of oil traded in North America and thus holds major influence over the CAD. It is hardly a secret that the US consumes the most amount of oil in the world, averaging around 19 million barrels per day. Since evaluation is judge on the uses of its findings it is important to know where to start and where to end. The goal is to help the readers understand how evaluation is judge, how to utilize the findings and the lasting impact on those who were part of the evaluation. Summary: My essay looks at Part 1 of Utilization focus Evaluation , through the eyes of author Michael Patton, who believed that Evaluation is done for and with specific intended primary users for specific, intended uses (2009, p.36). It presumes that evaluations are judged by their utility and use. Evaluators should carefully consider how everything affects the use. The term use is defined by how people apply findings and ... The author strongly suggests that evaluation should never be done independently, but primary intended users should be allowed to sit at the table to help make decisions that would influence the intended use. One example was the welfare to work program exercise where internal evaluators met to discuss the finding of their evaluation. It is clear that no primary intended users were identified and little thoughts if any were given to how the evaluation results would be used. For Patton, the number one priority to good evaluation starts with primary intended users who input can help guide the evaluation from the start to the finish. In contrast, Brandon W. Youker, author of Goal Free Evaluation: A potential Model for the Evaluation of Social Work Programs believed in a goal free evaluation, whereby evaluators should make observations, and measure any outcomes intended or unintended without any knowledge, goals or even ... However technological progress made monorails and magnetic levitation trains now available and although railways are a result of the industrial revolution, they have been affected by continuous innovations, technical, regulatory and commercial changes which have enhanced their capacity and efficiency. Therefore railway transportis important now as it was in the late 19th century. One innovation pertains to the quality of the rail infrastructure, particularly rail tracks (e.g. better steel, concrete ties), which regulates the operational characteristics of their use such as speed, permitted weight, maintenance and immunity towards the environment. Increasing electrification and automation also improve the efficiency of rail transportation, passenger and freight alike. For safety purposes commodities ought to be stowed on the trains in a certain manner for guaranteed railway delivery. Computer Aided Diagnostic System using Ultrasound Liver Images: An Overview Mohamed Yaseen, Heung No Lee School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Gwangju Institute of Scinece and Technology, South Korea Abstract In this article an in depth overview is presented on Computer aided diagnostic (CAD) system s usage for liver cancer. Besides, in a broader sense highlighting the technical aspects developed for medical ultrasound images is also discussed. CAD system is a process that provides adequate information that helps to analyze the Ultrasound images and helps to accurately detecting different types of liver cancer. However, the system performance is still not significantly improved. In this paper, firstly, we categorize the CAD system according to the four primary stages including data preprocessing, lesion segmentation, feature extraction, selection, and Classifier. In each stage, we review specific methods that are commonly used in most of the algorithms proposed for computerized tissue characterization and discuss their advantages and drawbacks. Then, recent proposed algorithms is presented in summarize form that have shown clinical value or specific possibility to the computerized analysis of setback for ultrasound liver images. These techniques or their combinations are the ones that are mostly used in the past few decades by the majority of work published in the Computer aided diagnosis domain. 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Furthermore, she defines scarcityas something that happens when there is not enough resources, or services to satisfy everyone s wants, at a price zero, and thus price tags come around. With this in mind, she said that a drawback of the system of charging for the scarce resources is that the rich are the one s capable of acquiring more of those resources, leaving the poor in great disadvantage. Dr. Mary states that if something has a price it s because that product or good is scarce, however water is an examples of a resource that does not have a deliberate monetary price, yet it is scarce in some places. A vast amount of literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race relations in America. The specific neurological disorder that is highlighted in chapter one is Visual Agnosia, which is a deficit associated with poor primary visual processing that affects shape perception, figures, object, face and letter recognition (Serino, et al., 2014). Other subtypes of visual agnosia that also seemed to fit the descriptions that Sacks shared is prosopagnosia, which is the inability to recognize human faces (Shah, 2016), and pantomime agnosia, characterized as the inability to understand gestures (Gonzalez, Mack, Heilman, K., 1986). In chapter one, Sacks talks about a patient dubbed Dr P, who was a musician, singer, artist, and a teacher at the Local of Music. Dr P had problems recognizing his students faces, which is when his problems were first recognized. He could not recognize people until they started talking or moving, and would see faces where there were none, such as in furniture, water hydrants, and parking meters. However, this did not seem to trouble him, and did not seek any sort of medical help, until years later when he developed diabetes. He went to an ophthalmologist, who told him his vision was fine, but that there was something the matter with the visual part of his brain. That was when he was referred to Oliver Sacks, a neurologist. Sacks did not think that the issue was dementia, but did notice something odd about the man. Sacks noticed that Dr P would fixate on details about his face, but not on the face or expressions as a whole. After an initial neurological exam, Sacks noticed that the man s reflexes were a bit abnormal on his left side, as he had taken off his shoe, but failed to realize that he did not have it on. The Theories Of Piaget And Vygotsky Critically evaluate the theories of Piaget and Vygotsky in explaining children s learning and development Learning and development is a major aspect of everyone and their day to day lives. Some people consider the term learning to have two definitions, these are informative learning which allows people to learn what fits their mental models and transformative learning which is the process of changing these mental models (Heorhiadi et al, 2014). There are two main theorists Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, whose theories will be used to explain the way children learn and develop. Piaget (1954) proposed one of the most influential theories of cognitive development also known as a stage theory as it consists of a set of separate stages through which every child progresses during child hood and adolescence. His theory is regarded as universal, therefore the background and culture of the child is not taken into account. Piaget considered a child to be a small scientist actively seeking and exploring the world around them, this way of thinking has contributed to our understanding of the world around us and how children think. Piaget also stated that the children must pass through each stage in order, even though some children may pass at a different rate than others. The main aspect of the theory centres on cognitive schemas which children develop. Schemas are cognitive structures which are used as a representation of the world around the child. One of the themes is that dream is very important for one to live a better life. This is also the theme in the poem Dreams written by Langston Hughes. Having one s own dream is very important because the process of achieving the dream is more of value than the result itself. Dreams can enrich people s lives and lighten their inside world. In The Crossover, Josh Bell is fond of playing basketball and his dream is to go to the University of Duke. In order to reach his goal, he practices so hard in school and home. I let him win and get ready to practice harder, (Alexander 57). The coach says one who runs the fastest does not need to practice. Josh Bell is the quickest on the team; however, he deliberately lets Vondie win. This is because he wants to practice more and become stronger than anyone else on the team. It is an example of how Josh tries to make his dream come true. In the process of realizing his dreams, Josh not only improves his basketball skills, but he also fulfills his life by making friends with his teammates. In the poem Dreams, the writer says that Hold fast to dreams/ For when dreams go/ Life is a barren field / Frozen with snow, (Hughes 5 8). • 46. Social Causes Of The French Revolution The French Revolution was an event that would rattle France s Bourbon monarchy and their neighboring royal families of Europe. Stemming from multiple causes such as the lack of food and other necessities, a growing social inequality in the face of the Enlightenment, and economic decline, the French Revolution bred dissent, notably among the masses in Paris. At the height on the Revolution, it became as much of a crusade against their fellow countrymen as it was against their outside enemies. After seizing power, political factions consistently accused each other of working against the Revolution, and royalist insurrections fueled the disarray. Leading up to Revolution itself was the growing social inequality. With the centralization of the French state due to the efforts of French kings such as Louis XIV, French common citizens found themselves subjected to the will of a nobility that became increasingly hostile to any sort of concessions. Many families were struggling to make ends meet while seeing those at the top of society turn a blind eye. Warfare contributed to this as well, notably the Seven Years War in which France lost much of it s New World territory and the American War of Independence after which the French came away with little spoils, not nearly enough to make up for the money spent on the war. With their country on the verge of economic collapse, French prices soared, forcing French commoners into an increasingly small box. Faced with an increasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Light progressed from crude shells filled with moss or animal fat to pottery vessels filled with whale oil2. In 1802, Humphry David placed two wires from a battery to a piece of carbon and created the first electric light. While it did not produce light for very long and was too bright for everyday use, it gave hope to inventors everywhere who believed that a steady source of light could be created3. It was not until almost seventy years and countless hours of research later, that the modern electric light came into existence. This discovery literally changed the world. Thomas Edison recognized the importance of a steady source of light and is credited with the first of several patents on a bulb that used a carbonized bamboo filament. But perhaps his most important contribution was to recognize the future of the light bulb and he went on to invent a method of transporting electric current and tracking electric usage.
