I Will Revisit Russon s Definition Of Memory, And Three...
In this paper I will revisit Russon s definition of memory, and three of the aspects that he presents
as important in the memory process. I will also argue that our body play an important role for our
remembering, as does the objects we interact with. As well as present my position on Russon
description of memory demonstrating that Russon s description is indeed relatable to the actual
human experience. Russon s definition of memory is not subjected to one main idea, but rather an
intertwining of related ideas pertaining to experience. He views memory as, What we experience as
the determinateness of objects that communicates to us what we can and cannot do, (Russon 41).
To emphasize, we experience our world through interactions with the world s objects. The contact
made with these objects provides an identity for them that later communicates to us about ourselves.
Russon present this idea of memory based on two types of memory, implicit and explicit. Implicit
memory are memories that we remember in part, while explicit memory are those that we
remember completely. An example that Russon gives in another instance that connects to this is the
idea of him terminating his lease and having a few weeks remaining is inscribed in everything
within his apartment. Each object represents the identity of the future commitment of moving
whether pervasively or occasionally. However Russon thinks that for us to remember there are
certain aspects that needs to be involve. First is

Essay on Behavior Change Theories and Strategies
To begin with,a health practisioner may fascilate behaviour change in an individual with a health
risk behaviour through the application of different behaviour change theories and strategies.
In general, health risk behaviours are actions which may threaten an individual s health causing
negative effects(Barkway,2009).Until the mid 20th century, global health threats were primarily a
result of infectious and communicable diseases. However, recently in developed countries, health
threats are now posed by diseases in which lifestyle play a role in the causation and or
management of illness. For instance, the modifiable risk factors for coronary heart disease,a

(Gillam,Yates,Badrinath,2007).Likewise,for behaviour change, simply telling people what is good
for them is not an effective stratergy.Four pre conditions are necessary for behaviour change to take
place whicha are:one must want to change, believe one can change, believe change will have the
desired effect and know how to change(Gillam,Yates,Badrinath,2007).An individuals subjective
norms, attitudes, self efficacy, peer support and education too influence behaviour
change(Commonwealth government of Australia,2010).
The health psycology thereby, presents physological theories and models derived from theories
to hypotheise and explain and predict behaviour and show how behaviour under observation is
enacted. These ultimately result in strategies to help people overcome resistance to change
behaviour and prevent relapse(Barkway,2009).
Out of the many theories, only some have been mentioned below which are cognitive and non
cognitive theories as well as transtheoritical theory and motivational interviewing. According to

Enrolling to Heritage University I wasn t sure what to expect. While obtaining my Associate of
Arts degree at Yakima Valley Community College my ultimate goal was to become a social worker.
Although, towards the last quarter at YVCC I realized that I was not passionate enough to continue
that career pathway. Transferring to Heritage I looked into the Business program. Now, I will be
graduating with a Bachelor s in Business Administration with a concentration on Entrepreneur.
During my junior year I realized I wanted to concentrate in marketing but was not completely sure,
so taking a internship with the HeritageUniversitys Academic Skills Center was a great opportunity
to put into place my interest for marketing.

To meet this objective my duty was to create print literature using design/adobe suite. For this
objective I decided to create the print literature using the classic techniques of drawing by
pencil, which I did draw out for most of the structure. Some details were outside my capacity
because I m not an artistic, but I used outside resources to help me express what I envisioned.
Before drawing I reviewed other web pages within the Heritage University website and outside
websites to get an idea of where to start. Anyone can draw what they believe is okay but the
importance of marketing is not what you want to see or do. People are the customers, so I made
sure to understand what people would like to know from these two departments. Their main focus
is finding the resources needed to support or guide them to succeed. Having in place a easy access

I Will Outweigh The High Cost Of College
Having an education is one of the best gifts someone can be given, and because of that I am
grateful for the education my parents have provided me. With more jobs requiring a high school
diploma or GED, the high school education I have received will help get me farther in life.
However, having a high school diploma isn t enough. Without a collegedegree, many doors will
still be closed and opportunities will pass by. I ll never be able to advance in my chosen career.
While the high costs of college are of great concern to me, I believe the future benefits will
outweigh the disadvantage of cost. Being thrown into the college life is a new experience that
will force me to mature. I ve always wanted to go to college to escape from my family and grow

At first, I thought a cheaper, public college would be a better choice as a school, but as I learned, a
more expensive private university would be better. My sister told me going to a private university
may be more expensive, but there would be more opportunities for gaining scholarships to
lessen the cost. To this day, I still don t know whether or not a public or private college would be
more beneficial for me, but I do know I ve become less worried about the cost. Despite all the
doubts I have, I know college will be beneficial for my life. Attending college will mature me into
an adult and cause me to shed my childhood. It will also teach me things I did not learn
previously. I will gain a college degree which will allow me to acquire a well paying job and benefit
my family and I in the future. Finally, despite the cost, I ll pay less with the help of scholarships I
gain. College is an experience I would hate to miss. No matter what happens and what hardships I
will have to endure, I wouldn t miss it for the

How Does Kawabata Use Shame In Thousand Cranes
In Kawabata s Thousand Cranes, identity becomes inescapable and transiently shared across
generations and people, rather than belonging uniquely to individuals. The lingering presence of
Mr. Mitani after his death reminds Kikuji of all the moral inadequacies Mitani possessed. As he
begins to exhibit these inadequacies himself, Kikuji attempts to hide his imperfections by
intoxicating himself and engaging in lustful affairs, but ultimately the cycle of shame continues.
Ignoring or hiding from the world is not a sufficient escape from the shame associated with one s
identity. I will argue that Kawabata uses the art of subtle cues in order to convey that shame can be
transferred, and shame must be confronted directly to overcome vulnerabilities... Show more

Identity is connected to the shame of a character because they continuously repeat the cycle of
disgraceful actions like their predecessors. The identity determines what shameful act a character
will engage in, and whether they will acknowledge or ignore their shame. To examine parallelisms
of behavioral patterns within the characters, the Ota women must be compared to the Mitani men.
The sins of the father become the sins of the son when Mrs. Ota pursues Kikuji in an attempt to
relive the past (33). Mitani and Kikuji both focus on their pleasures more than their obligations to
society, likewise they both have affairs with Ota women as a sexual outlet to fulfill their pleasures,
and never acknowledge their affairs as shameful. Rather than becoming overcome with guilt from
unfulfilled obligations to society, the Mitani men become charmed by the bodily and emotional
warmth of Mrs. Ota (33). Their dismissal of shame functions to strengthen their carnal desires
towards the Ota women. The Ota women differ from the Mitani men in how they respond to
shameful acts, consequently they are overcome with their shame to the point it consumes them.
Both Ota women crumble from the idea that they are preventing Kikuji from marrying

A Research On The Musculoskeletal System
A chiropractor is an expert in caring for the bones, muscles, connective tissues and nerves that
make up about 60 percent of the human body. Every joint in the body is part of the
musculoskeletal system: Overall good health requires that the musculoskeletal system is
functioning properly. The chiropractors at Icon Medical Centers near Hialeah, Florida, specialize
in treating individuals who have sports related injuries or who have sustained injuries during an
automobile accident. Proper Motion Requires Proper Function When any joint in the body is
impaired, proper function is impossible. In general, an impaired joint leads to inflammation of the
affected area, a reduction in the joint s range of motion, a buildup of calcium, the formation of scar
tissue and pain. Chiropractors use various methods and treatments to return the joint to its proper
position. Injuries Chiropractors at Icon Medical Centers near Hialeah Frequently Treat The
licensed chiropractors at Icon Medical Centers frequently treat: frozen shoulders; runner s knee;
tennis elbow; other injuries to the extremities; neck injuries (including whiplash); and back
injuries. Chiropractic Care is a Non Invasive, Natural Approach Some people refer to a misaligned
spine as being jammed or locked up. Joint mobilization through chiropractic care can improve the
circulation of blood and spinal fluid; thus, speeding up the healing process, which reduces the
likelihood of scar tissue formation.

Technology Is A Bad Thing
Advances in Technology Technology has advanced in all shapes and forms and there is no sign
of it stopping. It has changed the way many of us see the world today. If our ancestors would be
alive, they would think it is a completely different place. Many consumers believe that
technology is a bad thing because they see the ugly side of change. Most people if not all simply
do not want to accept it or perhaps they notice those consumers who make mistakes and abuse
technology. Despite it being an unseen act of technology, society is continuously changing to
uphold a set of standards never before held for the sake of the future. We witness generations
grasping a general idea of how to use the complex devices starting at a young age. The younger
users are able to use their devices with ease and breeze through applications at an outstanding
rate. For example, my younger siblings know exactly how to unlock my phone and swipe
through pages of applications and know exactly what game to use. I have witnessed them logging
in on my computers and perhaps search the web to watch their favorite videos online. This idea of
teaching the future generations at a young age to develop technological skills is a great
opportunity for them to have for the sake of their jobs. It is like we are preparing them to
advanced and not stay behind. The advances in technology is increasing at a rapid rate creating new
types of jobs and opportunities brightening the future of the next generation. Since

The Diamond Necklace Affair Essay
The Diamond Necklace Affair
Marie Antoinette, Queen of France from 1770 to 1797 was despised by the people of France.
Their hatred of her and the monarchy in general led to the French Revolution. Many issues led to
the unpopularity of Queen Maria Antoinette, her vanity, her disregard for the people, but perhaps
the most significant was the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. In 1785, the court jewelers, Bohmer
and Basange, constructed a necklace with five hundred and forty diamonds of varying sizes in an
ugly arrangement that resembled the collars worn by circus animals. They hoped that King Louis
XV would purchase it for his favorite, Madame du Barry. Unfortunately, the king died before the

It was, after all, the Queen that tried to prevent him from being appointed Grand Almoner of
France. Campan replied that the gentleman must be mistaken. Bohmer answered that Campan was
the one being deceived. His eminence, he said, sees [the Queen] in private and he has brought me
thirty thousand francs from the Queen as a down payment. Madame Campan immediately notified
the Queen of his visit. When Marie Antoinette called the jeweler back for questioning the diabolical
plot was discovered (Komroff 86).
The plot began in 1777 when, against Marie Antoinette s wishes, Rohan was named Grand
Almoner. Trying desperately to soften the Queen s anger, realizing that if she wouldn t
acknowledge him, his power in court would diminish greatly, he wrote many letters to her but to no
avail. She still refused to honor him with the slightest sign of recognition (86).
His desire for recognition led to his involvement with an adventuress and swindler by the name of
Countess de la Motte Valois (Affair). Countess Jeanne la Motte Valois came from a very strange
background. She was a direct descendant of King Henry II of France but generations of bad
marriages had reduced the family to poverty. She married an officer of the gendarmes and the
couple assumed the titles of Count and Countess (Komroff 87).

George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis
General George S Patton, also known as Old Blood and Guts, was by far one of the greatest and
most controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his
leadership of the Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for
war against the Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Pattonpainted
himself as an agitator, which is an individual who speaks of the violation or misappropriation of
the present form of society, but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills (Lowenthal,
1948). According to the Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits
this description quite well, in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in
today s terms as political correctness. Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak
out against public opinion are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within
Blumenson s book, The Patton Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the
Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice:
The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to
get revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It s a choice between
them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. So do our cousins... (p. 744).
Inarguably, these words written by Patton were possibly some of the most dangerous statements he

children. I deeply didn t care about this because I spent 23 hours a day working in the mines. I m

days pass by, so did the villagers spirit. They had never liked this trek in the first place. Their
bleeding feet told without words. One even started begging the soldiers. The soldier didn t give
her anything, but he did give meat for the wolves. This kingdom is ruled by fear, I thought to
myself. More days have passed and more bodies have fallen, seven in total. All were just
peasants trying to make a living. The village let out a heavy sigh when we finally reach the

Implementing Compulsory Voting in Canada Essay example
A compulsory voting system similar to the one used in Australia is not a system Canada should
implement. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term
(Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to
verify if someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply
increasing voter turnout, compulsory votingcould remedy this problem and it should be more
accurately defined as being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The belief that compulsory
voting inherently improves democracyis misleading (Lever, 2010). Canada should not force its
citizen s to vote because other then increasing voter turnout, compulsory voting would... Show more

Implementing a similar system in Canada would be difficult and problematic because Canadian
citizens have become accustom to a system of individualized rights and freedoms. The Right to Not
Vote:
Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to
exceed a certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone
who with distinct purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for
unqualified candidates (Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these
already alienated voters to vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and
those candidates platforms or beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to
not vote may also lure highly qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995.
Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which
would supersede the need for a compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that
if people are dissatisfied with the candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning
they put the name of someone they wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the
problem with a write in vote is that you are not included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg,
1995). The percentage of nonvoters can be important data because it can be an indication to the
political community, and may

Introduction
The continuous developments in information and communication technology have recently led to
the appearance of distributed computing environments, which comprise several, and different
sources of large volumes of data and several computing units. The most prominent example of a
distributed environment is the Internet, where increasingly more databases and data streams appear
that deal with several areas, such as meteorology, oceanography, economy and others. The
application of the classical knowledge discovery process in distributed environments requires the
collection of distributed data in a data warehouse for central processing. However, this is usually
either ineffective or infeasible for the following reasons:
Storage Cost: It is obvious that the requirements of a central storage system are enormous. A
classical example concerns data from the astronomy science, and especially images from earth
and space telescopes. The size of such databases is reaching the scales of exabytes (1018 bytes)
and is increasing at a high pace. The central storage of the data of all telescopes of the planet
would require a huge data warehouse of enormous cost.
Communication Cost: The transfer of huge data volumes over network might take extremely much
time and also require an unbearable financial cost. Even a small volume of data might create
problems in wireless network environments with limited bandwidth. Note also that

Comic Fiction And Humanistic Characters
For just under a century, comic books have given us an unparalleled medium in which we see our
favorite characters fight for good against evil. Comic historian, Bradford Wright wrote about the
influence of comics saying, Emerging from the shifting interaction of politics, culture, audience
tastes, and the economics of publishing, comic books have helped frame a world view and define
a sense of self for the generations who have grown up with them (Wright, 2). However, while these
same comicsare developing our moral compasses, how can we be assured that the superheroes in
the comics in which we read are completely just themselves, and honestly do they have to be to
complete the task at hand? Although morality tends to be a popular concept to address
throughout comic story lines, there is a paradoxical issue in branding our superheroes inherently
good or evil which is all determined by an ever changing perspective. To begin with, comic
books play on the concept of perspective, both within their artwork and the character s points of
view in order to create complex story lines that draw the reader in and allow them to connect with
the somewhat humanistic characters. Immanuel Kant, a well known philosopher, asserts that not
only does our thoughts reflect our personal reality, but it is our experiences that shape who we
are and how we see the world. These experiences, whether good or bad, create somewhat of a lens
in which we view the world around us. Therefore, due to the

Ten Little Soldiers Summary
This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier
Island (off in England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big
parties. So because they thought there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts.
Little did they know that no one else was going to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet
each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs. U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a
gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited, because they all have
committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or guest dies
off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green
titled Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in
Devon, England. There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing
on it. The book takes place at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many
main characters because the book was about all ten guests. I think the most important character
is the murderer himself who is given a better description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave
also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of sending Edward Seton to his death because
he found him guilty in court while 9 out of 10 said he was innocent. He grew up with the lust to

Revolts In New England
Disputes over religion, land, and power ignited various revolts within New England. In Maryland
and Massachusetts, disagreements in religion caused many to protest. Around the 1650s, tensions
between Catholics and Protestants rose because both Puritans and Jesuits longed to impose their
religion over all others. Subsequently, in 1655, a civil war allowed Protestants to rule the
government. Similarly, a difference in religious beliefs again caused massive protests in
Massachusetts. Williams argued that their church should permanently break away from the Church
of England. Another protester, Anne Hutchinson, considered many clergymen as non elect and
thus, had no right to wield authority. These differences in religious beliefs gradually led to

The core composites for Reading (.96), Mathematics (.96), and Written Language (.93) are also
highly reliable. However, the Oral Language composite (.87) and Oral Fluency (.85) fall below
the desired (.90) standard for reliability. The Sound Symbol and Decoding composites are
adequately reliable at all age levels. Because of the format for the subtests for the Reading
Fluency composite, it is not possible to evaluate the internal consistency. The internal
consistency coefficients are lower for subtests than composites. Most of the Reading and
Mathematics subtests, and the Spelling subtest coefficients are sufficiently reliable. The
majority of coefficients for the Oral Language subtests and the Written Expression subtest are
less than (.90). The coefficients for Nonsense Word Decoding are acceptable; but the majority of
coefficients for the Phonological Awareness, Associational Fluency, and Naming Facility are below

Clean Water And Clean Drinking Water
Water is an essential element in our daily lives, but for North Americans, water service is a
convenience that we too often take for granted until a serious issue occurs, (Waterworld, 2014).
There is more than 1 billion people who lack adequate access to clean drinking water and at least
estimated there are over 400 million that are children. Because unclean water yields illness,
roughly 443 million school days are missed every year. (Goodnet, 07 Oct, 2014). Providing clean
water to the billons of people who don t have access to clean water is important because it help
maintain human health. Clean water has become one of our most precious resources in the 21st
century, in fact one in nine people live without access to clean and drinkable water. (Goodnet, 07
Oct, 2014). Human need water that is clean and safe to drink so it can help maintain the body s
temperature, it would also lubricate and cushion the joints. To help provide clean water to
developing countries our organization should provide help to an organization called charity: water,
which are a nonprofit organization that provides safe and clean water to developing countries. Our
organization should provide help to Charity: Water because it could help spread awareness around
the world, help developing countries in creating ways to have clean water, and provide a health

Workplace Bullying Final Paper

GEN 499: General Education Capstone
Instructor: John Thorburn
August 3, 2015 Workplace Bullying Dr. Ruth Gamie, stated that bullying is a systematic campaign
of interpersonal destruction that jeopardizes ones health, career, and the job they once loved.
Bullying is a non physical, non homicidal form of violence and, because it is violence and
abusive, emotional harm frequently results (Workplace Bullying Institute RSS). Workplace
bullying is a silent epidemic that is rising with more reports of abuse in the United States. Most
people have no idea why they are being bullied, but research shows that bullying typical arises

Workplace Bullying Institute states, many studies acknowledge that there is a fine line between
strong management and bullying. Comments that are objective and are intended to provide
constructive feedback are not usually considered bullying, but rather are intended to assist the
employee with their work. If you are not sure an action or statement could be considered bullying,
you can use the reasonable person test. Would most people consider the action unacceptable
(Oppermann, 2009)? The practice of bullying may be executed by an individual against the other,
or can alternatively engage many individuals working as a group. Although, the border line that
separates strong management and bullying can be indistinct, an individual who perceives that he
or she is targeted for uneven treatment is possibly being bullied. The National Institute of
Occupational Safety Health (NIOSH) indicates that mental disorders among the different
workforce, said to be brought by workplace bullying, impacts to an employment loss which may

bullying happens anywhere within the workplace though; it flourishes in places where there exist
weak inter staff relations and workplace environments that experience increased cases of job
insecurity. Workplace bullying may sometimes be practiced as a cultural principle, for instance, in

Factors That Play Into Choosing What Type Of Childcare...
There are several factors that play into choosing what type of childcare facility to open. Some
questions to ask are how many children do I wish to have? How about the age range for the
children in the center? The operating hours as well as operational days will determine what type
of childcare you will have to start. A child care center extends child care services, covering early
learning openings, for a set tuition in a center based setting. Child care centers are typically
licensed by the state. Several states excuse particular kinds of child care centers from licensing.
State licensing guidelines give direction regarding the number of children that can be enrolled and

There are several teachers that are available to the child and can help support each other. Licensing
requirements are done by state agencies, and usually safer. Training of teachers is regulated and
is held to a higher standard regarding health and safety. Center based child cares are inspected
yearly. All centers have a set curriculum and therefore more options to teach and learn. Center
based child care is dependable because you know the hours and days of operation will not change.
Now we will talk about the disadvantages of a center based child care. There are more children
to take care of since there will be larger groups. Having too many different caregivers or teachers
may confuse the child and steer away from consistency. Center based tuition can be more
expensive, especially when there are more than one child in the family. The businesses operating
hours may be outside the normal parenting work hours which leave no flexibility for drop off and
pick up. Also, if a child was to become sick, they would not be allowed to stay the remainder of the
day, and cannot return based on their symptoms until they are well again. Another type of childcare
is a family home based child care. This is when one teacher is caring for children in smaller groups.
The type of setting is probably located in the teacher s home which is operated as a small business.
There are several advantages of being part of a family home based daycare. There are smaller

The Current Educational Curriculum Faces
Introduction
There are various kinds of pressures that the current educational curriculum faces. Such pressures
include ensuring the rights of children are protected, ensuring that cultural diversity in learning
institutions is not a barrier to learning, making the education system provide learners with essential
skills that can enable them participate and compete effectively in the globalized world, ensuring
that children from economically challenged backgrounds obtain information similar to their
counterparts that come from wealthy backgrounds and enabling learners to learn independently
(Ananiadou Claro,2009). Therefore, the system must be consistent with national priorities, it must

So it is necessary to apply care and relationship education in a classroom is by creating a classroom
community. This will create an environment where students feel valued and connected to their
teacher and to one another. Some of the benefits of a school community include the growth of
students social, emotional, and academic competence, improvement in collaborative learning,
positive relationships with others, and inclusion. When students are involved with a community,
their behavior can change and allow students to be more concerned about others, improved skills in
resolving conflict, and an anti bullying environment. In a community environment, student s
motivation is improved and their attendance is also improved.
Moral education
The current system of education faces a challenge of enhancing social justice. In this case, social
justice entails privileging the underprivileged students to ensure they obtain the skills that their
privileged counterparts obtain. Ideally, many students emerge from different economic
backgrounds. Students that emerge from wealthy backgrounds can obtain all education that they
might need. However, those that are underprivileged are less likely to obtain an essential education
because they cannot afford it (Darling Hammond, 2015). Therefore, the school curriculum has a
task of establishing measures of ensuring that every student obtains the required information
regardless of his or her economic background to make

Motor Rehabilitation
3. Understanding motor learning applied to rehabilitation
The ability to walk may be compromised after damage to structures of the neural system due to a
spinal cord injury (SCI) or a stroke. Frequently, patients in rehabilitation have an altered neural
control leading to an inaccurate, slow or inefficient performance of the movement (Bastian, 2008).
Thus, a main goal in the walking rehabilitation process is to learn how to perform a movement
again, recovering motor function, by incorporating motor learning principles into this process
(Sawers et al., 2012). Learning has been defined as ...a relative permanent change, resulting from
practice or a novel experience in the capability for responding (Guthrie, 1952). Additionally, some
authors consider motor learning to be a loose term that includes motor adaptation, skill acquisition,
and decision making (Kitago Krakauer, 2013).
In a broad view the learning process can be described in five main phases: fast, slow, consolidation,
automatic, and retention. During the fast stage, a major increase in performance occurs. In the
slow stage, the gains in performance occurs via practice. After an interval time period, consolidation
is observed without additional practice. Then, in the automatic phase, minimal ... Show more

It is important to note that the story of the fox that is presented by Fee s father is very different

Lee points out a defining characteristic of the fox demon is the inability to have a healthy
relationship with a man. Lee refers to a modern retelling of the fox demon where the fox demon
is given the opportunity to have a relationship with a man, but the relationship ultimately fails
when he swallows her jewel (during sex) which destroys her. Lee argues the fox demon is a
representation of female sexuality is designed to uphold patriarchy by depicting female sexuality as
monstrous and devouring, and hence their fox women enact moral conflict in striving to
subordinate their fox characteristics to their desire to be human (Lee, 2011). On the other hand,
Lady s Tammamo s marriage to her husband represents a healthy relationship which renders female
sexuality as a positive force, but this is impossible in the traditional tale of the fox demon. In the
traditional tale of the fox demon, the fox demon is seen as a polluting force which can only
consume young men. This framing of the traditional fox demon is very similar to how queer people
are depicted within much of history. Winnubst, a scholar on Queer Theory, explains that queers
have been depicted as sinthomosexuals, or folks who show no interest in the future because of their
inability to produce young. Because young people (the Child) are the future, queers are then seen as
not contributing to the future. They threaten the future in their inability to create

collaborative; team members report to two areas; known as, geography and the global function

first response was to deny that they ever knew this occurred. Their reason for this was because
they hired outside suppliers who ran the factories outside of the U.S. Nike has now learned from
bad publicity that the best way to handle this is to have insiders do audits of the factories

will fear losing their contract with Nike. Suppliers are also held to a higher standard now.
Suppliers/subcontractors are responsible to report any other suppliers who act unethically. Nike

Sao Paulo is a megalopoly, has around 19 million inhabitants, with its mobility issues around 7

The fact is almost no one know there is urban agriculture in Sao Paulo, even with its many

advantage they enjoy is that they are also environmentally friendly. For example, the Prius
produces 90 percent less harmful emissions than a traditional car (www.ineed2know.org, 2004),
which is important to those individuals that are concerned about the environment. Even President
Bush seemed to agree that alternative fuel vehicles needed to be further investigated when he
endorsed the concept of alternative fuel vehicles and allocated more than a billion dollars toward
the transition to hydrogen fuels (www.evrental.com, 2001). On the other hand, these types of cars
are not a practical investment if cost and availability are issues. Not only is the price higher, but
due to limited interest in hybrids by consumers at this time, there is only a small geographic area
where hybrids are being rented. Most locations are situated in California, Arizona, and Washington;
therefore, if ABC Rental Cars is looking for a new rental opportunity that could expand quickly,
hybrid vehicles may not be the ideal choice.
Initial startup costs and maintenance costs are also important factors to consider. The price of a
hybrid automobile is higher than that of a comparable gasoline engine powered automobile.

In silence one can get clarity about one s visions and wishes, one s patterns of thinking and
feeling and how one acts in one s world. Silence can be a tool which helps one know and
experience fully who am I and what one s purpose in life is. In the modern world there is hardly
ever complete silence. People also avoid silence and even seem to be afraid of it. There is
always some background noise, whether that is traffic, music or a TV. It is difficult for some of
us to be in silence because it so clearly brings us face to face with our own identity. This becomes
awkward because so often one plays a role and is embarrassed or ashamed to face the real one.
One is not in peace with oneself so one tries to keep the mind busy with different kinds of input

after goal, they set. A study by the Work Family Institute in Virginia has found seven common
traits among peak performers that set them away for the rest of the race. These individuals see
their vision and create a roadmap to meet their target. They have an increased focus and passion for
their work that keeps on track. Reflection of themselves and values they hold... Show more content

I completely agree with this assessment, as I am a result driven individual! In my opinion, this
is due to my assessments of situations and myself to improve them and have a proven outcome,
several refer to me as a control freak . I savor the work and the struggle to show results. Although
I recognize the weaknesses the self assessment shows that I have created for myself in being
results driven. Putting forth the effort to embark on the compassionate side is essential to me;
nevertheless, I stay driven by the final results, foremost. Sadly, a supporter is the least of the
temperaments from my rating, I desire to continue to create objectives to engage this downfall;
however, I have not succeeded. I recognize my hardship as a challenge since I am a director, I

Wuthering Heights Mood
Wuthering Heights takes place during 1750 1802 in Northern England. The setting is important
because it sets the tone for the novel and shows the relationship between the two houses. It also
helps the reader understand the culture of that era. If it were changed it would change the theme
and mood throughout the story. For instance, if Wuthering Heightstook place in modern day Los
Angeles the story would change drastically. The setting portrays the time periods culture, even
slight differences between methods of communication, social status, and lifestyle would play a big
role on the story being told.
Emily BrontГ« described Wuthering Heights as being a significant provincial adjective... (BrontГ«
4). On the other hand, Thrushcross Grange was a happier and brighter land. The contrast between
the two homes, plays to the theme of the novel and the differences between the two households.
The time period 1750 1802 is also significant. Since, it was near the end of the Enlightenment, the

Ms. Dean was the narrator for most of the novel, for the most part she is unbiased and neutral. As
the housekeeper many different sides approach her understands the different point of views. Most
of the other characters are generally self centered and often do not pay attention to one another.
Therefore, there would be a lack of development within the story since the story would be very
biased and one sided. A change in narrator would lose the quality of liveliness that Ms. Dean has
and would make the story dull and

Persuasive Essay On Travel Alone
Let s Travel Alone! Any Barrier would be Easily Gotten Over. Many people like traveling. Some
of them use a fixed plan of a travel agency in a group, and the others make their itineraries on
their own. It seems the number of the latter is increasing these days. There are a number of
benefits to travel alone. The biggest one is that each traveler can plan their own travels as they
like. For example, when I planned a seven day trip for Tohoku area in Japan I made a number of
the plans even visiting the same spots with a train time schedule, which was very exciting. It was a
pity that I was not able to make the plan to meet all conditions I first conceived, but forming the
best itinerary under limitations through trial and error out of a number of... Show more content on

In addition, the travelers do not have to follow this itinerary all the time in travelling. If there is
a something interesting in a real place, each one of the travelers is free to explore it, changing a
schedule. When I was making a plan for free time of school trip for Auckland, I remember one of
our teachers said Without the help of Google Map, you need to experience losing your way,
exploring what is on the real street on your own. There might be a nice bakery, which is not on a
route displayed on your smartphone. Plus, individual travelers can experience thorough loneliness
in the real palace which they have never visited before unless they take some action. Of course, in
many cases, I cannot take any action there, but I should learn something good if I encourage
myself to take a step out of my shell. The increase of individual travelers shows that they
understand these advantages to travel alone, however, the others still hesitate in traveling alone
because of difficulties which the advantages have at the same time. The difficulties are burden to
make each plan, boringness to kill

The Effect Of Alpha 3 Fatty Acid Supplementation On Cognition
The Effects of Omega 3 Fatty Acid Supplementation on Cognition in Alzheimer s Disease
In 2015, approximately 5.3 million Americans were living with Alzheimer s disease. As the
baby boom generation ages, that number is expected to increase by 10 million by the year
2050.1 Alzheimer s is a neurodegenerative disease that causes brain cells to eventually die.2 The
early and middle stages are characterized by short term memory loss, confusion, and difficulty
completing familiar tasks.2 Researchers are not only struggling to find a cure, but to discover
ways to slow the disease s progression. One prevalent area of current study especially relevant to
nutritional professionals involves omega 3 fatty acid supplementation in individuals with ... Show

39 male and female early stage Alzheimer s patients over the age of 55 were the participants in a
study in which Shinto et al. (2014) investigated omega 3 fatty acid supplementation s effect on
cognitive decline, as well as oxidative stress, an indicator of Alzheimer s disease. For 12 months,
randomized participants received either a placebo, an omega 3 fish oil supplement, or omega 3
fish oil with the antioxidant lipoic acid.5 In addition to measuring lipid oxidation, researchers
assessed performance on three cognitive tests: the Mini Mental State Examination, the Activities
of Daily Living [t]est, and the Alzheimer s Disease Assessment Scale.5 Compared to placebo, the
participants receiving both omega 3 fish oil and lipoic acid showed a higher reduction in
oxidative measures and a deceleration in cognitive decline, indicating that combining omega 3
with lipoic acid may slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer s patients.5 However, this study was
limited by a small sample size and short trial period of only 12 months.5 Omega 3 fatty acid alone
served as the investigational treatment in a study exploring fish oil supplementation in subjects
with mild cognitive decline, a precursor to Alzheimer s disease. In this study conducted by Lee et
al. (2013), 36 male and female

Act 2 Scene 2 Comparison Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Scene 2 Comparison There are millions of different well known plays
around the world, some of these plays have been performed many times over and over again.
Even though these plays are repeatedly performed, every time there is a difference, every time
something has changed. Directors have this power and ability, to be able to change how a
character looks, or the point of view, or even just the facial expressions of the character. All of
these little differences affect the play and make it look brand new every single time. This will be
shown through the comparison of two different Romeo and Juliet production of Act 2 Scene 2, the
balcony scene. One of the productions is by Franco Zeffirelli and the other by Baz Luhrmann. In
my opinion, the production that was the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Setting is an element which can be looked over by the viewer. Sometimes what makes a scene
work can be fully tied to its setting and props. With a setting that is realistic and well thought,
you can truly tie a scene together. In the Franco Zeffirelli version of the play, we can see that the
setting is around the Capulet mansion, by Juliet s balcony. Romeo is below hiding in the
bushes. The leaves of the bushes and how Romeo is below them show us how he is hiding and
can t be seen by anyone, the night sky and how dark it is in this scene also hide Romeo. Juliet is
sitting on the ledge of her balcony. In this production, the balcony is made very wide, so in the
scene, Juliet can walk along the entire balcony before Romeo speaks. This also gives her enough
space to run away when she is scared by Romeo s voice. The plot is not affected too much by
these choices other than being able to have Juliet almost run away from Romeo. Through these
setting options that Franco Zeffirelli took during his production, we have a medieval time period
look and a more original looking production. However, the

  • 2. I Will Revisit Russon s Definition Of Memory, And Three... In this paper I will revisit Russon s definition of memory, and three of the aspects that he presents as important in the memory process. I will also argue that our body play an important role for our remembering, as does the objects we interact with. As well as present my position on Russon description of memory demonstrating that Russon s description is indeed relatable to the actual human experience. Russon s definition of memory is not subjected to one main idea, but rather an intertwining of related ideas pertaining to experience. He views memory as, What we experience as the determinateness of objects that communicates to us what we can and cannot do, (Russon 41). To emphasize, we experience our world through interactions with the world s objects. The contact made with these objects provides an identity for them that later communicates to us about ourselves. Russon present this idea of memory based on two types of memory, implicit and explicit. Implicit memory are memories that we remember in part, while explicit memory are those that we remember completely. An example that Russon gives in another instance that connects to this is the idea of him terminating his lease and having a few weeks remaining is inscribed in everything within his apartment. Each object represents the identity of the future commitment of moving whether pervasively or occasionally. However Russon thinks that for us to remember there are certain aspects that needs to be involve. First is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Kawabata Use Shame In Thousand Cranes In Kawabata s Thousand Cranes, identity becomes inescapable and transiently shared across generations and people, rather than belonging uniquely to individuals. The lingering presence of Mr. Mitani after his death reminds Kikuji of all the moral inadequacies Mitani possessed. As he begins to exhibit these inadequacies himself, Kikuji attempts to hide his imperfections by intoxicating himself and engaging in lustful affairs, but ultimately the cycle of shame continues. Ignoring or hiding from the world is not a sufficient escape from the shame associated with one s identity. In 1785, the court jewelers, Bohmer and Basange, constructed a necklace with five hundred and forty diamonds of varying sizes in an ugly arrangement that resembled the collars worn by circus animals. • 10. George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis General George S Patton, also known as Old Blood and Guts, was by far one of the greatest and most controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his leadership of the Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for war against the Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Pattonpainted himself as an agitator, which is an individual who speaks of the violation or misappropriation of the present form of society, but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills (Lowenthal, 1948). According to the Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits this description quite well, in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in today s terms as political correctness. Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak out against public opinion are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within Blumenson s book, The Patton Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice: The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to get revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It s a choice between them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. Compulsory voting in the context of a democratic society can be a misleading term (Lever, 2010). Canada practices the secret ballot process in voting, and so it is impossible to verify if someone has cast a legally valid ballot. If countries have a singular goal of simply increasing voter turnout, compulsory votingcould remedy this problem and it should be more accurately defined as being compulsory voter turnout (Lever, 2010). The Right to Not Vote: Abstaining from alienation occurs when a voter s utility for [their] favorite candidate fails to exceed a certain positive threshold (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1023). An alienated voter is someone who with distinct purpose of mind avoids voting for the purpose of showing discontent often for unqualified candidates (Blomberg, 1995). Implementing compulsory voting would force these already alienated voters to vote regardless if they disagree with all the candidates involved and those candidates platforms or beliefs. High rates of non voting citizens exercising their right to not vote may also lure highly qualified individuals to run for public office (Blomberg, 1995. Pg.1024 25). A return of qualified individuals would increase the alienated voter turnout, which would supersede the need for a compulsory vote. Some in favor of compulsory voting suggest that if people are dissatisfied with the candidate options that they can provide a write in vote, meaning they put the name of someone they wish to vote for on the ballot themselves. However, the problem with a write in vote is that you are not included in the percentage of nonvoters (Bloomberg, 1995). Introduction The continuous developments in information and communication technology have recently led to the appearance of distributed computing environments, which comprise several, and different sources of large volumes of data and several computing units. The most prominent example of a distributed environment is the Internet, where increasingly more databases and data streams appear that deal with several areas, such as meteorology, oceanography, economy and others. The application of the classical knowledge discovery process in distributed environments requires the collection of distributed data in a data warehouse for central processing. However, this is usually either ineffective or infeasible for the following reasons: Storage Cost: It is obvious that the requirements of a central storage system are enormous. A classical example concerns data from the astronomy science, and especially images from earth and space telescopes. The size of such databases is reaching the scales of exabytes (1018 bytes) and is increasing at a high pace. The central storage of the data of all telescopes of the planet would require a huge data warehouse of enormous cost. Communication Cost: The transfer of huge data volumes over network might take extremely much time and also require an unbearable financial cost. Even a small volume of data might create problems in wireless network environments with limited bandwidth. Note also that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Comic Fiction And Humanistic Characters For just under a century, comic books have given us an unparalleled medium in which we see our favorite characters fight for good against evil. Comic historian, Bradford Wright wrote about the influence of comics saying, Emerging from the shifting interaction of politics, culture, audience tastes, and the economics of publishing, comic books have helped frame a world view and define a sense of self for the generations who have grown up with them (Wright, 2). However, while these same comicsare developing our moral compasses, how can we be assured that the superheroes in the comics in which we read are completely just themselves, and honestly do they have to be to complete the task at hand? Although morality tends to be a popular concept to address throughout comic story lines, there is a paradoxical issue in branding our superheroes inherently good or evil which is all determined by an ever changing perspective. To begin with, comic books play on the concept of perspective, both within their artwork and the character s points of view in order to create complex story lines that draw the reader in and allow them to connect with the somewhat humanistic characters. Immanuel Kant, a well known philosopher, asserts that not only does our thoughts reflect our personal reality, but it is our experiences that shape who we are and how we see the world. • 31. Motor Rehabilitation 3. Understanding motor learning applied to rehabilitation The ability to walk may be compromised after damage to structures of the neural system due to a spinal cord injury (SCI) or a stroke. Frequently, patients in rehabilitation have an altered neural control leading to an inaccurate, slow or inefficient performance of the movement (Bastian, 2008). Thus, a main goal in the walking rehabilitation process is to learn how to perform a movement again, recovering motor function, by incorporating motor learning principles into this process (Sawers et al., 2012). Learning has been defined as ...a relative permanent change, resulting from practice or a novel experience in the capability for responding (Guthrie, 1952). Additionally, some authors consider motor learning to be a loose term that includes motor adaptation, skill acquisition, and decision making (Kitago Krakauer, 2013). In a broad view the learning process can be described in five main phases: fast, slow, consolidation, automatic, and retention. During the fast stage, a major increase in performance occurs. In the slow stage, the gains in performance occurs via practice. After an interval time period, consolidation is observed without additional practice. Then, in the automatic phase, minimal ... Lee argues the fox demon is a representation of female sexuality is designed to uphold patriarchy by depicting female sexuality as monstrous and devouring, and hence their fox women enact moral conflict in striving to subordinate their fox characteristics to their desire to be human (Lee, 2011). On the other hand, Lady s Tammamo s marriage to her husband represents a healthy relationship which renders female sexuality as a positive force, but this is impossible in the traditional tale of the fox demon. • 44. Persuasive Essay On Travel Alone Let s Travel Alone! Any Barrier would be Easily Gotten Over. Many people like traveling. Some of them use a fixed plan of a travel agency in a group, and the others make their itineraries on their own. It seems the number of the latter is increasing these days. There are a number of benefits to travel alone. The biggest one is that each traveler can plan their own travels as they like. For example, when I planned a seven day trip for Tohoku area in Japan I made a number of the plans even visiting the same spots with a train time schedule, which was very exciting. It was a pity that I was not able to make the plan to meet all conditions I first conceived, but forming the best itinerary under limitations through trial and error out of a number of... If there is a something interesting in a real place, each one of the travelers is free to explore it, changing a schedule. When I was making a plan for free time of school trip for Auckland, I remember one of our teachers said Without the help of Google Map, you need to experience losing your way, exploring what is on the real street on your own. There might be a nice bakery, which is not on a route displayed on your smartphone. Plus, individual travelers can experience thorough loneliness in the real palace which they have never visited before unless they take some action. Of course, in many cases, I cannot take any action there, but I should learn something good if I encourage myself to take a step out of my shell. The increase of individual travelers shows that they understand these advantages to travel alone, however, the others still hesitate in traveling alone because of difficulties which the advantages have at the same time. The difficulties are burden to make each plan, boringness to kill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2014) investigated omega 3 fatty acid supplementation s effect on cognitive decline, as well as oxidative stress, an indicator of Alzheimer s disease. For 12 months, randomized participants received either a placebo, an omega 3 fish oil supplement, or omega 3 fish oil with the antioxidant lipoic acid.5 In addition to measuring lipid oxidation, researchers assessed performance on three cognitive tests: the Mini Mental State Examination, the Activities of Daily Living [t]est, and the Alzheimer s Disease Assessment Scale.5 Compared to placebo, the participants receiving both omega 3 fish oil and lipoic acid showed a higher reduction in oxidative measures and a deceleration in cognitive decline, indicating that combining omega 3 with lipoic acid may slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer s patients.5 However, this study was limited by a small sample size and short trial period of only 12 months.5 Omega 3 fatty acid alone served as the investigational treatment in a study exploring fish oil supplementation in subjects with mild cognitive decline, a precursor to Alzheimer s disease. In this study conducted by Lee et al. (2013), 36 male and female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Setting is an element which can be looked over by the viewer. Sometimes what makes a scene work can be fully tied to its setting and props. With a setting that is realistic and well thought, you can truly tie a scene together. In the Franco Zeffirelli version of the play, we can see that the setting is around the Capulet mansion, by Juliet s balcony. Romeo is below hiding in the bushes. The leaves of the bushes and how Romeo is below them show us how he is hiding and can t be seen by anyone, the night sky and how dark it is in this scene also hide Romeo. Juliet is sitting on the ledge of her balcony. In this production, the balcony is made very wide, so in the scene, Juliet can walk along the entire balcony before Romeo speaks. This also gives her enough space to run away when she is scared by Romeo s voice. The plot is not affected too much by these choices other than being able to have Juliet almost run away from Romeo. Through these setting options that Franco Zeffirelli took during his production, we have a medieval time period look and a more original looking production. However, the ...
