The Plato of the Apology
Western philosophy, beginning with the dialogues of Plato, is premised upon both the rejection of the
artform of tragedy and the rejection of experiences and events considered to be tragic. This general
and far reaching exclusion of the tragic originates from Plato s dissension made in The Republic of the
normative claims defined by nearly all tragic and epic poetry regarding the question of how a human
being should live. Tragedy, merely by being tragedy, expresses the following evaluative commitments
regarding human life: One, events beyond the agent s control have the ability to play a major role in
her ability to lead an ethical and moral life. Two, tragedy validates forming emotional attachments to
people and objects beyond the agent s control. And three, sympathy, fear, and pity for the tragic hero
demonstrate the recognition of certain ethical truths, truths which may be applied to everyday life of
the audience members. Plato flatly denies all three of these claims. The Plato of The Apology states
that a good person cannot be harmed. The good person is self sufficient. Both uncontrollable events
and the fate of external objects or people have no effect on the virtuous person. She remains virtuous
no matter the circumstances. Additionally, returning to The Republic, Plato denies the cognitive value
of emotions. Thinking connected to the emotions necessarily focuses on the immediate, the finite, and
the uncontrollable, and, therefore, the false. Poetry must be banned

Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song Essay
Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song
When we hear the song Brown Eyed Girl, it is safe to assume the majority of us think of the Van
Morrison version that was first introduced in his album Blowin Your Mind, released in 1967. Since
that time the song s legend and popularity have grown to unprecedented heights. Many artists have
redone the song, some with a similar music style to Morrison (like Jimmy Buffet), and others of a
completely different genre like the punk rock band Green Day. In my essay I will argue that the
stylistic differences between the two songs are not a barrier. Rather, in combination with the
similarities associating with cover songs, they form a bridge between two genres. In this case, it is
achieved by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With his lyrics and style he is able to produce a feeling with the song that is calm and relaxed.
Morrison is able to take you back to a style of music that is characteristic of the time of Brown Eyed
Girl s production, a time of happiness in his life. You can tell by the pitch and tone of his voice that he
is in an enjoyable state. He talks about the younger years of his life when he had hardly any
obligations. He sings about all that happens with the brown eyed girl, from the running and jumping,
to the activities in the green grass behind the stadium. Throughout the whole song there is never really
a time that his voice or tone is lowered to let you assume it was an unhappy time for him. Even when
Morrison is wondering where all the fun times went, singing just overcome thinking about it, he still is
able to keep a happy rhythm and tone in the song through his voice and background music. Overall the
feeling that you inherit from his song is a happy calm feeling that many listeners enjoy.
Green Day, who surfaced in the early 1990 s, has never been known to do covers, especially of songs
with as slow a tempo as Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl. Green Day, who sings strictly punk rock, was
given the idea of covering the song by the father of one of the group members, who was a huge fan of
Morrison himself. After hearing the proposal, Green Day thought about it and knew

The Health Records Of Healthcare
The health record has been around for many years, and it first started with a group of individuals in
the 1920 s to realize that documenting health care data provided better quality care. Healthcare
providers recognized that they were able to treat patients more accurately with a documented history
of the patients. It wasn t until the 1980 s that healthcare professionals started to venture out into the
computerized healthcare technology. In the 90 s technology was making gains and healthcare
continued to venture forward into the modern more computerized world of healthcare informatics.
One of the revolutionary feature of this era was the ability to get patients test results via computers,
the only downsize was that they were only attainable through that computer alone. That type of
information had no way of traveling though another computer. By the year 2000, a push to make
electronic records began due to the spike of patient death and injuries due to medical errors by
healthcare providers. In an article written in 2009 shortly after President Obama took office, it was
mentioned that President Barack Obama wanted to computerize the nation s health care records in five
years. But many concerns came with this notion such as money, time and specialized training. The
total cost of this health care initiative plan would cost at least $75 billion to $100 billion dollars over
next the ten years. They believed that one of the biggest costs in this plan would be training

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory Essay
HS 5003, Survey of Research in Human Development and Behavior Course Instructor: Gerald
Thauberger, MS, DM 05/30/2009 Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory Aaron D. Stewart Ecological
systems theory is an approach to study of human development that consists of the scientific study of
the progressive, mutual accommodation, throughout the life course, between an active, growing
human being, and the changing properties of the immediate settings in which the developing person

which the settings are embedded (Bronfenbrenner, 1989, page or #). When reading and researching to

One of the greatest influences in my life was having a single parent mother who gave birth to me at
the age of seventeen and sequentially dropped out of high school. She later went back and finished,
which demonstrated to me the importance of education and having a never give up attitude. Her
determination and example greatly influenced my decision to go to college and eventually to graduate
school. To be completely honest, I didn t fully understand one aspect of the bi directional influence
until a recent conversation with my mother when she informed me that me being the first in the family
to graduate from college and my drive for success has caused her to continue her education even when
she wants to give up. She sat back in her chair and quoted one of her favorite scriptures; Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD
your God is with you wherever you go (NKJV Joshua 1:9 p. 252). The second stage of
Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory is the Mesosystem. The Mesosystem is a system comprising the
connections between immediate environments (i.e., a child s home and school). The Mesosystem
provides the connection between the structures of the child s Microsystem (Berk, 2000). Examples
consist of the connection between the child s teacher and his parents, and between his church and his
neighborhood. For example, if a child s caregivers

Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes
I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down
to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the
elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if
they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems
including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it.
In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this
quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and
sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes
is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he
feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that
water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of
cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ...

Source: What Is CrossFit? What Is CrossFit. Web. 15 Mar. 2016. . This link talks about what crossfit
is all about, an activity that incorporates gymnastics, weightlifting, and high intensity work in different
forms. Greg Glassman founded this now widely popular form of exercise when he was a young
gymnast. Crossfit s official definition is constantly varied functional movements preformed at
relatively high intensities. In my research, I will use this to talk about how crossfit was discovered and
what the goal of crossfit is overall. I will also use this to talk about the history and development of

In this article, Mayo Clinic gives short examples of how exercise in general can be beneficial to a
person. It talks not only about physical benefits, but mental benefit. It also addresses that exercise
helps improve sleep patterns and boosts energy. In my research, I plan to use this article, and similar
articles, to really show that exercise in general improves lives in more ways than just physically. I also
hope to find articles that talk more about crossfit.

What Are The Three Contemporary Theories Of American...
If asked what democracy is, many would claim that it is a government by the people a phrase
popularized by Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. However, in today s society, there are
three prominent theories pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism that attempt to explain who exactly
has the power and influence in the United States of America. Each theory is centralized based on their
own ideals and conclusions about who truly governs the nation. Our democracy has components of
each of these political theories; each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. The three
contemporary theories of American democracy: pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism provide more
context for how policies and laws are actually created as opposed to ... Show more content on

It takes into consideration the components of pluralism and elitism. Hyperpluralism is defined as the
idea that competing interests groups have gotten too powerful making it impossible to accomplishing
anything. This can result to muddled policy and policy gridlock due to the fact that some politicians
will try to placate every group. Hyperpluralists assert that groups are the sovereign with the
government their mere servant as powerful groups let their money and power do the talking. In this
theory, average citizens are able to take part in policymaking by joining interest groups like in
pluralism. However, it is taken to another level in this theory as interest groups that lose policymaking
battles in Congress carry their agenda to the court. These groups and their members take advantage of
the court system to get what they want and to bend policies to suit their own purposes. On the other
hand, the Framers would not have expected for interest groups to gain that much power over the
government, let alone use the judicial system for their own purposes. At that time, the Framers
probably looked down on average citizens as they were illiterate, though I think that they would have
been tolerant of groups whose members were wealthy and white. It would have been harder for
interest groups to make use of the judicial system as well because judicial review is not specifically

I Had Pity For Both Morgan And Kiki During This Period
My Commentary: I had pity for both Morgan and Kiki during this period. Morgan was making strides,
and the chain of events that led to him losing Kiki and his life wouldn t have happened if it weren t for
Ava stealing his meds. It was heartbreaking to hear how confused and disenchanted he was in his
recovery journals (11/4), trying to do everything by the book and still failing. I had my first real
occurrences of compassion for Kiki, who expressed to both Franco (10/3) and Dillon (10/7) that she
was losing sight of herself by constantly being on emotional eggshells with Morgan, tending to his
needs while ignoring her own. I was impressed that the writers gave her enough self awareness to
acknowledge her revolving door dating patterns, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, excellent performances ensued, naturally (shout out to Dominic Zamprogna, A.K.A.
Dante). My personal favorites were from West and Wright. Ava s tortured breakdown on 10/11 after
hearing Morgan died was the stuff of soap dreams and West s innate passion was the perfect ingredient
for it. Mascara covered tears fell down her face, as guilt ridden flashes of her removing the pills
seesawed with memories of their tawdry love affair, causing her to obliviously drop her martini glass.
She sobs while picking up the shards, realizing she s involved in killing the only man she s loved since
being in PC. Overtaken, she flings the pieces and screams, What have I done?!! She bumps into
Bobbie the next day, who asks if she ever truly loved Morgan. Ava replies Yeah, I loved him...very
much. There was a time when he was the only one who saw good in me at all. Now I suppose anyone
who ever did (veiled reference to Nikolas?) is gone, and dashes off to crumble on the elevator. Carly s
bouts of rage were everything (I can t come up with a suitable adjective, so we ll go with everything ).
On 10/12, Sonny got it about Julian s hit. Before smashing a childhood photo of Morgan, she fumed,
...A bomb blew him up. You couldn t help yourself could you? You had to be the one to finish Julian.
And now...our beautiful little boy is dead, and you killed him!! An Emmy reel

Relationships of Maxilla to Mandible
Before tackling the topic of articulators, the maxillomandibular relationship must first be introduced
as it provides the bases upon which dental prosthesis are fabricated and must be maximally duplicated
to ensure the success of a denture or restoration.
The temporomandibular joint involves the condylar head which moves along the petrous part of
temporal bone that makes up the mandibular/glenoid fossa. These condyles move the ... Show more

In addition, although it is unmovable unlike the mandible, the maxilla is in a fixed position relative to
the temporomandibular joint or the reference positions when the mandible has to function against the
maxillary teeth. This anatomical relationship, know as orientation relation, mandates its recording
when dealing with prosthesis or else it would lead to disharmony of occlusion and eventually harming
supporting and associated tissues.
In addition to the normal maxilla and mandibular positions discussed individually, the
maxillomandibular relationship must also be taken into consideration in the field of prosthodontics
and restorative dentistry. The maxillomandibular relationship accounts for the registration of any
positional relationship of the mandible with respect to the maxilla. The maxillomandibular relation
records are:

joint axis, an imaginary axis passing the condyles.

Law Enforcement Officer Research Paper
In today s society it has been proven over and over that black lives really don t matter. In this country
law enforcement agent is view as more of a threat than the deadliest gang members. It is extremely sad
and sickening for a race of people to have to be fearful of the people who are paid to protect and serve
us. As stated by authors from the Washington post these murders begin with fairly small incidents,
such as a disturbance, a traffic stop, a burglary, or something else minor, but they always end with
someone of color dead. Although some women meet this same fate the vast majority of the people
who either was murder or their death were a result of coming into contact with a law enforcement

When police officers go into areas that are predominately white, there is a slim chance that they are
going in with the intent to kill or having their guns drawn. There is a big difference when it comes to
how a white person is handled by the justice department, the media even as opposed to how black
people are handled. Just about every black man or woman that lost their life to a law enforcement
officer , their past was drug up and seared across the new as if because someone committed a crime
even a petty crime that somehow this justified their death. Prime example, in June Dylan Roof a 21
year old white man went inside of a church in Charleston, S.C. killing nine people, when he was
detained they brought this cold blooded obviously dangerous man out like he was a victim they
shielded him and protected him. The result of an intense manhunt, he wasn t thrown against his car.
He wasn t tackled or slammed to the ground. He wasn t tased ruthlessly, nor was he put in a
chokehold. He wasn t shot at, although the officers who searched for him described him as armed and
dangerous. He wasn t killed. (Clifton, 2015)I don t believe in taking anyone s life regardless of race,

Research Paper On David Hasselhoff
It seems in this modern day and age, no one in the entertainment industry can seem to maintain a good
credibility. A prime example of this is David Hasselhoff. David Hasselhoff demonstrates why having
good credibility is an important virtue but can easily and hastily be destroyed. He also demonstrates
that all your actions effect your credibility. David Hasselhoff was born on July 17, 1952 (age 61) in
Baltimore, MD. Some of his first major achievements include starring in many television series such
as The Young and the Restless, Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, and Night Rider. Hasselhoff also dabbled
in drama and theatre. Early in Hasselhoff s life, he believed his career would lead to Broadway.
(Stevens) Hasselhoff gained his credibility by not being caught in scandals through the beginning of
his career. He also gained credibility by starring in many of the productions stated before. He was
known as a trustworthy and credible person for a moderate amount of time. (Stevens) That is, until he
was discovered to be in the same boat as the vast majority of the music industry.
David Hasselhoff s middle and current years of his life are controlled by alcohol. (Stevens) The first
time the public found out about Hasselhoff s drunken acts, his credibility toke a large negative hit. In
2002 while Hasselhoff was filming his Baywatch Reunion movie, he released to the public that over
the past twenty years, he has struggled with alcohol. At this time he is currently at Rock Bottom

Themes Of The Outsiders
Sammy Davis Jr. once said You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fears . This
means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without worrying about
what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. This relates to the choices
made in The Outsiders, because Johnny faces his fears face on, not backing off and instead,
committing. He does this to save the ones who he most cares about the most. Correspondingly, the
theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you may not like, may have a
beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. To begin with, Johnny stabs Bob, the Soc, with
his switchblade because Bob was about to brutally beat Johnny up with his rings on his bare hands and
his hurtful words from his crude, deceptive mouth. Johnny also stabs Bob because Bob s gang was
trying to drown Ponyboy, so if he was able to stab Bob then his nasty and cruel gang would leave
Ponyboy alone. When Johnny stabs Bob, his plan ends up working and the other socs runaway
because they got frightened at the sight of Johnny stabbing and killing their what used to be alive
friend. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. (56) Johnny says this to Ponyboy as he awakens;
coughing up water from nearly being drowned by Bob s gang. When the socs runaway they go and try
to find police. Because of this, Johnny and Ponyboy now have to run away in order for them not to be

The “Modern” Classroom. If You Were To Ask A Group Of People
THE MODERN CLASSROOM If you were to ask a group of people of varying ages today to describe

box shaped room with rows of small, confining desks, and a whiteboard or chalkboard front and
center of the room. The funny thing is that if you were to ask the same question 200 years ago, you
would probably get the same response. Why does the classroom of the 21st century look so similar to
the classrooms of the 1800 s? Have we really gone nearly two centuries without changing our
educational environment? The answer, sadly, is yes. However, there are many who believe the
classroom needs a major update, and I would have to agree. Although many ... Show more content on

Too many of our teachers are using 21st century technology with 19th century pedagogy with teaching

Personally, these classes left me having to make extra time not only to review and study the material,

On the other hand, I have taken several online classes that have been less traditional, and more

Analysis Of The Bicycle Thieves
Two scenes from the Bicycle Thieves that although they have nothing to do with the plot they are
essential for the film are: the scene where many bicycles and parts of them are being sold in a piazza,
this is an important scene because it adds to the film a feeling of optimism that ends up turning into
hopelessness. The other scene is the one where the thief has an epileptic fit adding to the film a feeling
of despair. These two scenes also contributes to the overall meaning of the plot by showing us that the
harder you try to accomplish what you want in life the more obstacles you will have and the more
hopelessness you will fell.
The first scene where bicycles are being sold at the piazza is very important. Ricci is hopeful at first,
and so are the watchers, that he will be able to find his bike at that place and all his problems will be
solved. He looks everywhere for it, at first it seems like his bike might be there because there is an
overwhelmingly amount of bicycles and pieces of them and the people around him helping him are
very optimistic, but as he keeps looking and looking things start getting more complicated because
every bike, tire, bell, and frame he sees could belong to his bike giving him hope that he has found it
but the moment he realizes is not his, the hopes he had to find it sinks deeper. We can observe this
when he s looking at the bikes lined up in minute 34:08, when he s looking around an expression of
anxiety and disappointment forms in his face

Guilt in Fifth Business by Robertson Davies
Guilt is the regret one experiences when they realise their action was not appropriate according to a
lawful or moral standard. In Fifth Business, by Robertson Davies, guilt was a major theme and was
essential throughout the novel. Davies used the three main characters, Dunstan Ramsay, Boy Staunton,
and Paul Dempster to illustrate the different effects of Mrs. Dempster s incident. The way one is
raised, the key disciplines they have developed and their way of thinking reflects how they deal with
guilt.
Boy Staunton was illustrated to have an interesting attitude. Through the lack of his morals and
principles he felt no guilt after the incident. I threw a snowball at you, and I guess it gave you a good
smack (Robertson Davies, pg. 27.) Boy took no responsibility over his action and blatantly denied the
guilt. Another example that displayed Boy s insensitiveness was when he was involved in a sexual act
with Mabel, a student at his school, at a time period when he was in a relationship with Leola. His
father played a major role in that situation as he bribed Mabel s mother to not involve the authorities.
Boy never apologized or showed discomfort in any way. Lastly, he cheated on Leola, after their
marriage. Leola found a note from one of his admirers and in return Boy stated, There s no reason to
carry on like that, but if you think I intend to be tied down to this sort of thing, you can think again
(pg.178.) Boy was illustrated as quite successful wealth wise, however

The Sticky Web
What is the greatest innovation of the twentieth century? The web? Something about this cobweb just
captures the imagination of anyone who gets a glimpse of the possibilities made available. This has
led to people spending more and more time online. It has altered the very way that civilization
conveys basic day to day information. College students today have had easy access to the internet their
entire lifetime. Nevertheless, the disadvantages of this popular time passer are steadily increasing, as
the price for this activity we call surfing the web has evolved into more than just the currency and time
we spend each passing day.
One of the more well known issues caused by the internet, is the addictive properties of simple tasks
such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The possibilities of enhancing concepts sourced from secondary research, further s the level of
intelligence that people have access to. This is brilliant networking. Plagiarism, however has come to
be a large problem for students and their instructors alike.
Online safety has become an issue as the internet is available to a much younger user. Mobile phones,
iPods and other devices mean kids are online most of the day There is online crime and the kids are
exposed to this, which is a problem for them as their discretion is not mature enough. Unfiltered foul
and abbreviated language is being projected into the younger generation causing them to use these
terms in school, this is tacky . Many educators are worried as the informal communications common
to online chatting is becoming an issue by itself. Teachers believe pupils don t spend nearly enough
time on their homework as they should and 73 per cent believe parents should take responsibility and
limit the amount of time their child is spending online.
Fun factors are being developed at an accelerating rate, the technology behind virtual worlds have
made a beautiful illusion for anyone to just slip their thoughts from reality, consequently, the issue of
violent stimuli has become ever so present and people are loosing control. Could this link to another

Anne Hutchinson In The Massachusetts Bay Colony
The Massachusetts Bay Colony in the seventeenth century was incredibly intolerable towards any
religious ideology that opposed the Puritan authority and when clashed with the ideals of Anne
Hutchinson, the event forever marked the beginning of religious tolerance in the New England
Colonies. The Massachusetts Bay Colony, like many other towns in New England banished
individuals for such offenses as criticizing the church or government (Foner 71). As discussed in small
group lecture, the community of the Massachusetts Bay Colony had become so hardened in their
Puritan values that the sand that made up the community (the people) became glass. The values of the
community Anne Hutchinson, a spiritual advisor with her own interpretations of the Bible, held the
same view as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea went strictly against the authority, not because they were actually teaching a covenant of
works, but because Hutchinson was challenging their views whether they were true or not. Any
corruption in the authority seen by the community could disrupt the order of the society and cause
anarchy for the masses. John Winthrop, a puritan lawyer as wells as an authoritative figure in the
Massachusetts Bay Colony thought highly of Hutchinson, claiming she a woman of ready wit and
bold spirit (Foner 74). He felt no ill will towards her specifically, but once she went against the
authority and criticized the ministers, she broke away from the society, becoming a force pushing
against the glass and threatening to break its very foundations. Only three years after her arrival in
1634, Anne Hutchinson was put on trial for antinomianism and sedition. This trial became the contact
zone for Hutchinson s religious ideals and Winthrop s hardened

Grooming CFOs to be CEOs
CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially
quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty,
the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO
can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate
foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in
their roles as CEOs. How CFOs are Prepared to become CEOs One of the most interesting articles in
the series read to complete this analysis is Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989). This
article highlights how critical it is for a CFO to understand the organizational structure of their
business, while also understanding how best to create a teamwork framework that can enable the
accomplishment of complex objectives (Picker, 1989). This article shows how D. Wayne Calloway
was able to save PepsiCo as a business by having in depth knowledge of operations and the financial
trade offs critical to keeping them operating. He also was able to transform many of the most costly
operations in the company while reducing investments in fixed assets (Picker, 1989). The article also
points to how well Robert Crandall interpreted the impact of deregulation on the airline industry,
while also making the transition from CFO to CEO. Robert Crandall was one of the most effective
CEOs in the history

New Product Launch Marketing Plan, Part II
The following is the second part to the iNKtopia product launch plan. The second part of the
marketing plan consists of a detailed target market profile, including buying behaviors, decision
motivators, and organizational target markets. The plan also includes steps to manage each stage of the
product life cycle and tactical plans for the Four P s. Finally, the second part of the marketing plan
expands on the product offering expressed in part one and a new position statement to drive iNKtopia
s positioning strategy.

During this Phase iNKtopia will increase advertising on television, print ads, and provide discounts
and incentives to customers that want the ink delivered. The increase of advertising will continue to
help the company grow, expand, and build a larger consumer base.
Maturity Phase
The maturity Phase will create a slowdown in sales growth because the product has achieved
acceptance by most potential buyers (Kotler Keller, 2012, p. 310). As iNKtopia s profits become
stable or deteriorate because of an increase in competition the company must look to diversify. If the
company is successful up to this point the product will unavoidably lead to more competition.
Competitors will eventually start introducing similar products, or larger ink companies may simply
lower the price of their ink. Therefore iNKtopia will need to diversify or develop new products,
services, or lower costs to distinguish iNKtopia s products from the competitors. Ideally, iNKtopia can
enhance customer services and its image to become a leader in the ink industry. This could also be
coupled with a change in the pricing strategy by slightly lowering the cost of iNKtopia products.
However, iNKtopia will strive to create superior customer service and innovation of the ink business
to hopefully create additional sales and attract even more customers. Another promotional idea would
be to focus on the environmental

Characters In The Movie Groundhog Day Vs. Happy Death Day
Groundhog Day vs. Happy Death Day Groundhog Day is a 1993 movie starring Bill Murray. It is a
Drama/Romance directed by Harold Ramis rated PG. Groundhog Day was so popular it was even
made into a musical in 2016 composed by Tim Minchin. Happy Death Day, however, is a 2017
mystery/thriller. It is rated PG 13 and is directed by Christopher B. Landon. Although Happy Death
Day is assumed to be just a scary version of Groundhog Day, these two movies have more differences
and similarities in characters, situations, and setting than people might think. The main character of
both movies begin the storyline as self centered people. They are rude and have no concern for the
people around them. The main character from Happy Death Day, Tree Gelbman is a blonde sorority
sister in college. In the beginning of the movie, Tree wakes up, hungover, after getting drunk from a
party the previous night which makes her late to a lecture. This indicates that she is irresponsible and
what most people consider to be the average partying college student. The main character in
Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, is a weatherman who thinks he s above everyone else. In the movie
this character uses sarcasm, irony, and does his best to ignore everyone and live a life of solitude. One
thing these two characters have in common is falling for the people that they thought they never would
in the beginning. Tree falls for Carter Davis, the college student whose dorm she woke up in after the
party. Phil Connors falls in love with Rita Hanson, a news producer who works in the same studio as
him. These Two characters are stuck in incredibly similar situations with very slight differences. They
are both trapped in a time loop that shows some sort of relevance in their lives and they have to do
figure out what they need do in order to move on to the next day. In the beginning they simply think it
s deja vu, but after they realize they will always wake up to the same day, even if they die, they begin
to enjoy immortality and use it to their advantage. In her time loop, Tree Gelbman wakes up to the
sound of university bells in another college student s (Carter Davis s) dorm room after a party. She
walks back to her sorority house,

Distracted Driving Adverts
Making the Public Aware In 2013, there were about 3,200 deaths due to distracted driving. But, people
decided to make the public aware of these statistics by creating advertisements. So, when you first
look at this specific ad, the main thing you see is the dark red blood spewing through the phone, onto
this poor woman s face. The ad at first just looks gory, and shocking, but once you read the words the
whole picture comes together. This ad has these impressions because they really stood out, with all the
blood, and even having the words written in that person s blood. This ad is appealing to people s

Immigration Assimilation
America is largely made up of immigrants, and thus it is referred to by many as an immigrant s nation.
The rise in immigrants of the first generation and those of second or third generation is changing the
demographics of the United States each day. Duncan and Stephen observe that about a quarter of U.S.
residents are either first generation immigrants or the second generation children of immigrants (109).
Most of these immigrants move to the country with the aim of achieving the American dream through
career success. We would like to believe that the nation follows through with its American ideology
that immigrants are welcomed with open arms, and they will have economic opportunities. However,
the process of integration and assimilation of these immigrants has for long been a common debate
question. The immigration waves into the United States have occurred in several waves over the past
years. In the earlier years, most of the immigrants were from Europe and their assimilation was rather
smooth. But, the recent wave of immigrants groups prevalently from Asia and Latin America do not
face similar acceptance and open arms as their predecessors.
Additionally, the aspirations of most immigrants are that they will have upward mobility when they
get into the United States, but unfortunately, in several instances, they may face unexpected downward
mobility. Downward mobility may occur due to many factors. The socioeconomic mobility of
immigrants is largely determined by the

Night Of The Long Knives Essay
By the end of 1933 Hitler s power was extensive but not total. His power was potentially at risk from
three sources: the President, the army and his SA (Stormtroopers). Hindenburg could still, in theory,
dismiss Hitler and the other Nazi s in the cabinet, the army could use its strength to force Hitler from
office and the SA could endanger Hitler s relations with the army by carrying out further acts of
hooliganism and demanding more power for themselves. By the end of 1934, all three problems had
been largely solved due to the Night of the long Knives. After the Reichstag election of July 1932, the
Nazi s were the largest single party but not a majority party. Hindenburg allowed Von Papen who was
the current chancellor of Germany at that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It helped Hitler to establish his dictatorship as all men in the army swore a personal oath to Hitler.
Although, there were other events too that helped Hitler to consolidate his power such as The
Reichstag Fire, The Enabling Act etc. The night of the long knives was very important because of the
various reasons listed below. The army supported Hitler when he proclaimed himself as the Führer
(leader) of Germany. The army also had the power to remove all the opponents. The murders of
General Von Schleicher and Von Kahr demonstrated that any resistance from within the army would
be brutally put down. This caused a fear in people s mind and they were scared to act against Hitler.
Therefore the night of the long also resulted in reducing Hitler s opponents. One of the most
significant outcomes of the night of the long knives was that Hitler gained support of the rich
industrialists, who further helped him to establish his power. He was also able to ban all other political
parties besides the Nazi s. Therefore, the night of the long knives helped Hitler to gain support of
many people and become the supreme dictator of Germany. Hitler rewarded the SS for their loyalty
and for carrying out the purge. Therefore Hitler got the chance to build up his new group, the SS. He
also apprised the SS that they could be an independent force. By 1936 1937, Himmler would complete
the consolidation of all German police forces under SS control

Examples Of Individuality In The Chocolate War
The positives of being an individual are more present in the media, but the negatives are normally
overlooked . In the novel named The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier the main character Jerry has
to deal with reality that it s not so easy to go against the grain .The novel does an excellent job
highlighting how his individuality affects his social , personal life, and societal pressures and bullying
. The first thing The Chocolate War highlights are the effects individuality has on the protagonist Jerry
Renault throughout the story. After Jerry decides to not sell chocolates there seems to be a ripple effect
of other students viewing him as a hero with kids slapping him on the butt and in the school that was a
sign of respect. Then the chocolates become popular the whole thing backfires with the whole student
body railing against him in hatred and disgust. You think you re better than we are? (205 page

The Influence Of Technology
Why does technology have a big impact on the world? Technology has grown for years since the first
computer was created and many have been using technology for school, work, interviews. It has made
life more easy and effective way to get stuff done faster because technology impacted many people
over the world and it has benefited us greatly. It s a wonderful way to stay connected to the world and
never miss out on events and important new broadcast.
It has advanced more further than anyone has imagined because the more we discover more things
about modern technology an apply with the knowledge that we already know and come up with a
sequence to make it correspond with other types of function. This can help the community use the
device in an easy format to benefit workers, school students, instructors. Many say that technology
will never stop evolving because each new generation has a different mindset and how they look at
thing. To improve you must have a fresh mind and think outside the box to form something new. I
would say that technology has put life in a unique perspective because it s made things easier for the
new generation because back then they didn t have the resources that we have now. To better ourselves
we must adapted to new and growing generation so that we can teach them how thing work and pass it
down towards the next.
The technology field has a lot of different forms because each has a different process on how each

  • 2. The Plato of the Apology Western philosophy, beginning with the dialogues of Plato, is premised upon both the rejection of the artform of tragedy and the rejection of experiences and events considered to be tragic. This general and far reaching exclusion of the tragic originates from Plato s dissension made in The Republic of the normative claims defined by nearly all tragic and epic poetry regarding the question of how a human being should live. Tragedy, merely by being tragedy, expresses the following evaluative commitments regarding human life: One, events beyond the agent s control have the ability to play a major role in her ability to lead an ethical and moral life. Two, tragedy validates forming emotional attachments to people and objects beyond the agent s control. And three, sympathy, fear, and pity for the tragic hero demonstrate the recognition of certain ethical truths, truths which may be applied to everyday life of the audience members. Plato flatly denies all three of these claims. The Plato of The Apology states that a good person cannot be harmed. The good person is self sufficient. Both uncontrollable events and the fate of external objects or people have no effect on the virtuous person. She remains virtuous no matter the circumstances. Additionally, returning to The Republic, Plato denies the cognitive value of emotions. Thinking connected to the emotions necessarily focuses on the immediate, the finite, and the uncontrollable, and, therefore, the false. Poetry must be banned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song Essay Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song When we hear the song Brown Eyed Girl, it is safe to assume the majority of us think of the Van Morrison version that was first introduced in his album Blowin Your Mind, released in 1967. Since that time the song s legend and popularity have grown to unprecedented heights. Many artists have redone the song, some with a similar music style to Morrison (like Jimmy Buffet), and others of a completely different genre like the punk rock band Green Day. In my essay I will argue that the stylistic differences between the two songs are not a barrier. Rather, in combination with the similarities associating with cover songs, they form a bridge between two genres. In this case, it is achieved by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With his lyrics and style he is able to produce a feeling with the song that is calm and relaxed. Morrison is able to take you back to a style of music that is characteristic of the time of Brown Eyed Girl s production, a time of happiness in his life. You can tell by the pitch and tone of his voice that he is in an enjoyable state. He talks about the younger years of his life when he had hardly any obligations. He sings about all that happens with the brown eyed girl, from the running and jumping, to the activities in the green grass behind the stadium. Throughout the whole song there is never really a time that his voice or tone is lowered to let you assume it was an unhappy time for him. Even when Morrison is wondering where all the fun times went, singing just overcome thinking about it, he still is able to keep a happy rhythm and tone in the song through his voice and background music. Overall the feeling that you inherit from his song is a happy calm feeling that many listeners enjoy. Green Day, who surfaced in the early 1990 s, has never been known to do covers, especially of songs with as slow a tempo as Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl. Green Day, who sings strictly punk rock, was given the idea of covering the song by the father of one of the group members, who was a huge fan of Morrison himself. After hearing the proposal, Green Day thought about it and knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Health Records Of Healthcare The health record has been around for many years, and it first started with a group of individuals in the 1920 s to realize that documenting health care data provided better quality care. Healthcare providers recognized that they were able to treat patients more accurately with a documented history of the patients. It wasn t until the 1980 s that healthcare professionals started to venture out into the computerized healthcare technology. In the 90 s technology was making gains and healthcare continued to venture forward into the modern more computerized world of healthcare informatics. One of the revolutionary feature of this era was the ability to get patients test results via computers, the only downsize was that they were only attainable through that computer alone. That type of information had no way of traveling though another computer. By the year 2000, a push to make electronic records began due to the spike of patient death and injuries due to medical errors by healthcare providers. In an article written in 2009 shortly after President Obama took office, it was mentioned that President Barack Obama wanted to computerize the nation s health care records in five years. But many concerns came with this notion such as money, time and specialized training. The total cost of this health care initiative plan would cost at least $75 billion to $100 billion dollars over next the ten years. They believed that one of the biggest costs in this plan would be training ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory Essay HS 5003, Survey of Research in Human Development and Behavior Course Instructor: Gerald Thauberger, MS, DM 05/30/2009 Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory Aaron D. Stewart Ecological systems theory is an approach to study of human development that consists of the scientific study of the progressive, mutual accommodation, throughout the life course, between an active, growing human being, and the changing properties of the immediate settings in which the developing person lives, as this process is affected by the relations between these settings, and by the larger contexts in which the settings are embedded (Bronfenbrenner, 1989, page or #). One of the greatest influences in my life was having a single parent mother who gave birth to me at the age of seventeen and sequentially dropped out of high school. She later went back and finished, which demonstrated to me the importance of education and having a never give up attitude. Her determination and example greatly influenced my decision to go to college and eventually to graduate school. To be completely honest, I didn t fully understand one aspect of the bi directional influence until a recent conversation with my mother when she informed me that me being the first in the family to graduate from college and my drive for success has caused her to continue her education even when she wants to give up. She sat back in her chair and quoted one of her favorite scriptures; Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go (NKJV Joshua 1:9 p. 252). The second stage of Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Theory is the Mesosystem. The Mesosystem is a system comprising the connections between immediate environments (i.e., a child s home and school). The Mesosystem provides the connection between the structures of the child s Microsystem (Berk, 2000). Examples consist of the connection between the child s teacher and his parents, and between his church and his neighborhood. For example, if a child s caregivers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it. In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ... • 8. What Are The Three Contemporary Theories Of American... If asked what democracy is, many would claim that it is a government by the people a phrase popularized by Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. However, in today s society, there are three prominent theories pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism that attempt to explain who exactly has the power and influence in the United States of America. Each theory is centralized based on their own ideals and conclusions about who truly governs the nation. Our democracy has components of each of these political theories; each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. The three contemporary theories of American democracy: pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism provide more context for how policies and laws are actually created as opposed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It takes into consideration the components of pluralism and elitism. Hyperpluralism is defined as the idea that competing interests groups have gotten too powerful making it impossible to accomplishing anything. This can result to muddled policy and policy gridlock due to the fact that some politicians will try to placate every group. Hyperpluralists assert that groups are the sovereign with the government their mere servant as powerful groups let their money and power do the talking. In this theory, average citizens are able to take part in policymaking by joining interest groups like in pluralism. However, it is taken to another level in this theory as interest groups that lose policymaking battles in Congress carry their agenda to the court. These groups and their members take advantage of the court system to get what they want and to bend policies to suit their own purposes. On the other hand, the Framers would not have expected for interest groups to gain that much power over the government, let alone use the judicial system for their own purposes. At that time, the Framers probably looked down on average citizens as they were illiterate, though I think that they would have been tolerant of groups whose members were wealthy and white. It would have been harder for interest groups to make use of the judicial system as well because judicial review is not specifically written in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. I Had Pity For Both Morgan And Kiki During This Period My Commentary: I had pity for both Morgan and Kiki during this period. Morgan was making strides, and the chain of events that led to him losing Kiki and his life wouldn t have happened if it weren t for Ava stealing his meds. It was heartbreaking to hear how confused and disenchanted he was in his recovery journals (11/4), trying to do everything by the book and still failing. I had my first real occurrences of compassion for Kiki, who expressed to both Franco (10/3) and Dillon (10/7) that she was losing sight of herself by constantly being on emotional eggshells with Morgan, tending to his needs while ignoring her own. I was impressed that the writers gave her enough self awareness to acknowledge her revolving door dating patterns, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ava s tortured breakdown on 10/11 after hearing Morgan died was the stuff of soap dreams and West s innate passion was the perfect ingredient for it. Mascara covered tears fell down her face, as guilt ridden flashes of her removing the pills seesawed with memories of their tawdry love affair, causing her to obliviously drop her martini glass. She sobs while picking up the shards, realizing she s involved in killing the only man she s loved since being in PC. Overtaken, she flings the pieces and screams, What have I done?!! She bumps into Bobbie the next day, who asks if she ever truly loved Morgan. Ava replies Yeah, I loved him...very much. There was a time when he was the only one who saw good in me at all. Now I suppose anyone who ever did (veiled reference to Nikolas?) is gone, and dashes off to crumble on the elevator. Carly s bouts of rage were everything (I can t come up with a suitable adjective, so we ll go with everything ). On 10/12, Sonny got it about Julian s hit. In addition, although it is unmovable unlike the mandible, the maxilla is in a fixed position relative to the temporomandibular joint or the reference positions when the mandible has to function against the maxillary teeth. This anatomical relationship, know as orientation relation, mandates its recording when dealing with prosthesis or else it would lead to disharmony of occlusion and eventually harming supporting and associated tissues. In addition to the normal maxilla and mandibular positions discussed individually, the maxillomandibular relationship must also be taken into consideration in the field of prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. The maxillomandibular relationship accounts for the registration of any positional relationship of the mandible with respect to the maxilla. The maxillomandibular relation records are: 1. In this country law enforcement agent is view as more of a threat than the deadliest gang members. As stated by authors from the Washington post these murders begin with fairly small incidents, such as a disturbance, a traffic stop, a burglary, or something else minor, but they always end with someone of color dead. When police officers go into areas that are predominately white, there is a slim chance that they are going in with the intent to kill or having their guns drawn. There is a big difference when it comes to how a white person is handled by the justice department, the media even as opposed to how black people are handled. Just about every black man or woman that lost their life to a law enforcement officer , their past was drug up and seared across the new as if because someone committed a crime even a petty crime that somehow this justified their death. Prime example, in June Dylan Roof a 21 year old white man went inside of a church in Charleston, S.C. killing nine people, when he was detained they brought this cold blooded obviously dangerous man out like he was a victim they shielded him and protected him. The result of an intense manhunt, he wasn t thrown against his car. He wasn t tackled or slammed to the ground. He wasn t tased ruthlessly, nor was he put in a chokehold. He wasn t shot at, although the officers who searched for him described him as armed and dangerous. He wasn t killed. • 13. Research Paper On David Hasselhoff It seems in this modern day and age, no one in the entertainment industry can seem to maintain a good credibility. A prime example of this is David Hasselhoff. David Hasselhoff demonstrates why having good credibility is an important virtue but can easily and hastily be destroyed. He also demonstrates that all your actions effect your credibility. David Hasselhoff was born on July 17, 1952 (age 61) in Baltimore, MD. Some of his first major achievements include starring in many television series such as The Young and the Restless, Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, and Night Rider. Hasselhoff also dabbled in drama and theatre. Early in Hasselhoff s life, he believed his career would lead to Broadway. (Stevens) Hasselhoff gained his credibility by not being caught in scandals through the beginning of his career. He also gained credibility by starring in many of the productions stated before. He was known as a trustworthy and credible person for a moderate amount of time. (Stevens) That is, until he was discovered to be in the same boat as the vast majority of the music industry. David Hasselhoff s middle and current years of his life are controlled by alcohol. (Stevens) The first time the public found out about Hasselhoff s drunken acts, his credibility toke a large negative hit. In 2002 while Hasselhoff was filming his Baywatch Reunion movie, he released to the public that over the past twenty years, he has struggled with alcohol. • 18. Themes Of The Outsiders Sammy Davis Jr. once said You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fears . This means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without worrying about what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. This relates to the choices made in The Outsiders, because Johnny faces his fears face on, not backing off and instead, committing. He does this to save the ones who he most cares about the most. Correspondingly, the theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you may not like, may have a beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. To begin with, Johnny stabs Bob, the Soc, with his switchblade because Bob was about to brutally beat Johnny up with his rings on his bare hands and his hurtful words from his crude, deceptive mouth. Online interaction can be equally as stimulating, but it can also make you feel like you are all alone in your coursework because of the inherent lack of physical presence (Florida National University). Ultimately this would hinder my learning process, along with the urge to procrastinate on my virtual assignments without the push of a real instructor made online classes a little challenging. • 20. Analysis Of The Bicycle Thieves Two scenes from the Bicycle Thieves that although they have nothing to do with the plot they are essential for the film are: the scene where many bicycles and parts of them are being sold in a piazza, this is an important scene because it adds to the film a feeling of optimism that ends up turning into hopelessness. The other scene is the one where the thief has an epileptic fit adding to the film a feeling of despair. These two scenes also contributes to the overall meaning of the plot by showing us that the harder you try to accomplish what you want in life the more obstacles you will have and the more hopelessness you will fell. The first scene where bicycles are being sold at the piazza is very important. Ricci is hopeful at first, and so are the watchers, that he will be able to find his bike at that place and all his problems will be solved. He looks everywhere for it, at first it seems like his bike might be there because there is an overwhelmingly amount of bicycles and pieces of them and the people around him helping him are very optimistic, but as he keeps looking and looking things start getting more complicated because every bike, tire, bell, and frame he sees could belong to his bike giving him hope that he has found it but the moment he realizes is not his, the hopes he had to find it sinks deeper. We can observe this when he s looking at the bikes lined up in minute 34:08, when he s looking around an expression of anxiety and disappointment forms in his face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Guilt in Fifth Business by Robertson Davies Guilt is the regret one experiences when they realise their action was not appropriate according to a lawful or moral standard. In Fifth Business, by Robertson Davies, guilt was a major theme and was essential throughout the novel. Davies used the three main characters, Dunstan Ramsay, Boy Staunton, and Paul Dempster to illustrate the different effects of Mrs. Dempster s incident. The way one is raised, the key disciplines they have developed and their way of thinking reflects how they deal with guilt. Boy Staunton was illustrated to have an interesting attitude. Through the lack of his morals and principles he felt no guilt after the incident. I threw a snowball at you, and I guess it gave you a good smack (Robertson Davies, pg. 27.) Boy took no responsibility over his action and blatantly denied the guilt. Another example that displayed Boy s insensitiveness was when he was involved in a sexual act with Mabel, a student at his school, at a time period when he was in a relationship with Leola. His father played a major role in that situation as he bribed Mabel s mother to not involve the authorities. Boy never apologized or showed discomfort in any way. Lastly, he cheated on Leola, after their marriage. Leola found a note from one of his admirers and in return Boy stated, There s no reason to carry on like that, but if you think I intend to be tied down to this sort of thing, you can think again (pg.178.) Boy was illustrated as quite successful wealth wise, however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne Hutchinson In The Massachusetts Bay Colony The Massachusetts Bay Colony in the seventeenth century was incredibly intolerable towards any religious ideology that opposed the Puritan authority and when clashed with the ideals of Anne Hutchinson, the event forever marked the beginning of religious tolerance in the New England Colonies. As discussed in small group lecture, the community of the Massachusetts Bay Colony had become so hardened in their Puritan values that the sand that made up the community (the people) became glass. Grooming CFOs to be CEOs CFO as CEO Introduction Given the increasing complexity of business and the need to financially quantify risk and opportunities so options are clearly understood while also operating in uncertainty, the progression of CFOs to CEOs will continue to accelerate. Reviewing the two articles How a CFO can graduate to CEO (Brewis, 1999) and Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989) illustrate foundational points to support the contention that CFOs will continue to be promoted and excel in their roles as CEOs. How CFOs are Prepared to become CEOs One of the most interesting articles in the series read to complete this analysis is Do CFOs really make good CEOs (Picker, 1989). This article highlights how critical it is for a CFO to understand the organizational structure of their business, while also understanding how best to create a teamwork framework that can enable the accomplishment of complex objectives (Picker, 1989). This article shows how D. Wayne Calloway was able to save PepsiCo as a business by having in depth knowledge of operations and the financial trade offs critical to keeping them operating. It is a Drama/Romance directed by Harold Ramis rated PG. Groundhog Day was so popular it was even made into a musical in 2016 composed by Tim Minchin. Happy Death Day, however, is a 2017 mystery/thriller. It is rated PG 13 and is directed by Christopher B. Landon. Although Happy Death Day is assumed to be just a scary version of Groundhog Day, these two movies have more differences and similarities in characters, situations, and setting than people might think. The main character of both movies begin the storyline as self centered people. They are rude and have no concern for the people around them. The main character from Happy Death Day, Tree Gelbman is a blonde sorority sister in college. In the beginning of the movie, Tree wakes up, hungover, after getting drunk from a party the previous night which makes her late to a lecture. This indicates that she is irresponsible and what most people consider to be the average partying college student. The main character in Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, is a weatherman who thinks he s above everyone else. In the movie this character uses sarcasm, irony, and does his best to ignore everyone and live a life of solitude. One thing these two characters have in common is falling for the people that they thought they never would in the beginning. Tree falls for Carter Davis, the college student whose dorm she woke up in after the party. Phil Connors falls in love with Rita Hanson, a news producer who works in the same studio as him. These Two characters are stuck in incredibly similar situations with very slight differences. They are both trapped in a time loop that shows some sort of relevance in their lives and they have to do figure out what they need do in order to move on to the next day. In the beginning they simply think it s deja vu, but after they realize they will always wake up to the same day, even if they die, they begin to enjoy immortality and use it to their advantage. The rise in immigrants of the first generation and those of second or third generation is changing the demographics of the United States each day. Duncan and Stephen observe that about a quarter of U.S. residents are either first generation immigrants or the second generation children of immigrants (109). Most of these immigrants move to the country with the aim of achieving the American dream through career success. We would like to believe that the nation follows through with its American ideology that immigrants are welcomed with open arms, and they will have economic opportunities. However, the process of integration and assimilation of these immigrants has for long been a common debate question. The immigration waves into the United States have occurred in several waves over the past years. In the earlier years, most of the immigrants were from Europe and their assimilation was rather smooth. But, the recent wave of immigrants groups prevalently from Asia and Latin America do not face similar acceptance and open arms as their predecessors. Additionally, the aspirations of most immigrants are that they will have upward mobility when they get into the United States, but unfortunately, in several instances, they may face unexpected downward mobility. His power was potentially at risk from three sources: the President, the army and his SA (Stormtroopers). Hindenburg could still, in theory, dismiss Hitler and the other Nazi s in the cabinet, the army could use its strength to force Hitler from office and the SA could endanger Hitler s relations with the army by carrying out further acts of hooliganism and demanding more power for themselves. By the end of 1934, all three problems had been largely solved due to the Night of the long Knives. Although, there were other events too that helped Hitler to consolidate his power such as The Reichstag Fire, The Enabling Act etc. The night of the long knives was very important because of the various reasons listed below. The army supported Hitler when he proclaimed himself as the Führer (leader) of Germany. The army also had the power to remove all the opponents. The murders of General Von Schleicher and Von Kahr demonstrated that any resistance from within the army would be brutally put down. This caused a fear in people s mind and they were scared to act against Hitler. Therefore the night of the long also resulted in reducing Hitler s opponents. One of the most significant outcomes of the night of the long knives was that Hitler gained support of the rich industrialists, who further helped him to establish his power. He was also able to ban all other political parties besides the Nazi s. Therefore, the night of the long knives helped Hitler to gain support of many people and become the supreme dictator of Germany. Hitler rewarded the SS for their loyalty and for carrying out the purge. Therefore Hitler got the chance to build up his new group, the SS. He also apprised the SS that they could be an independent force. By 1936 1937, Himmler would complete the consolidation of all German police forces under SS control ...
