Mccaskill Political Analysis
Claire McCaskill, the first women Senator for the State of Missouri was elected in 2006. Senator
McCaskill politically identifies with the Democrat Party ( About Claire, n.d.). Claire attended
Hickman High School in Columbia Missouri. Claire s father was a World War II veteran and worked
at the Missouri State Insurance Commissioner and her mother was a member of the Columbia City
Council ( About Claire, n.d.). Although with no direct military service, Claire McCaskill s father was a
war veteran, meaning she is more likely to support bills that protect veterans and expand veterans
benefits. Senator McCaskill worked as an assistant prosecutor in Kansas City before winning a seat in
the Missouri State Legislature. Then seventeen years later Claire McCaskill became the Missouri State
Auditor. Then in 2006, Claire McCaskill won the election and became one of the Missouri US
Senators ( About Claire, n.d.). This shows that McCaskill has a vast abundance of prior experience
working and participating in politics. Senator Claire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not much of a surprise as Roy Blunt has said in the past through legislature that he does not
support the right of abortion and has voted for policies that would make it more difficult. The Gun
Owners of America interest group rated Roy Blunt at 70% in 2013 ( The Voter s, n.d.). This was rather
surprising as Roy Blunt stands overall is pro gun, but had voted for a few gun regulation laws. From
this rating it can be inferred Roy Blunt may not be as pro gun as most Republican Senators. The
American Federation of Teachers rated Roy Blunt at 14% in 2012 ( The Voter s, n.d.). This is
surprising as Roy Blunt used to be a teacher and a student of the public education system. These
ratings show me that the American Federation of Teachers do not believe that Roy Blunt has done
enough to protect teacher labor unions and expand the education

Last Of The Mohicans Essay
The movie, The Last of the Mohicans, begins with the introduction of three of the main characters
Hawkeye or Natty Bumppo, his adoptive Mohican father, Chingachgook, and Chingachgook s
biological son, and Hawkeye s adoptive Mohican brother, Uncas. All three characters are introduced
as hunters, where they hunt and kill a buck. Their introduction also leads to the introduction of other
characters. These three characters travel through the woods after their hunt, to a family, whom they
know, that lives in the woods of the frontier. Friends of the Mohicans, Alexandra Cameron and John
Cameron, and their children, are introduced as housing the three for the night. These people are
friends, and they act like it. They speak of their past, and lives for the present and future. When

1. What was your initial reaction to the film? My initial reaction to the film itself was quite positive.
Before watching the movie, it wasn t positive. The story line, when I had read about the topic, seemed
repetitive. I didn t want to hear and see the same things over and over again. I had thought that that
was what this movie was going to be. But going and watching the whole thing, and getting to see a
different part of the story, was very interesting and I ended up liking it much more than I had thought
at first.

Couch Potato 2 Analysis
I have been to many different musical performances throughout my life, and have performed in about
as many as well. These performances range in purpose and technique from a Native American
powwow intended to unify people of different tribes, to professional a cappella groups performing in
front of large audiences for entertainment. No matter what culture presents music or what genre it
belongs to, something can be learned from a performance. One specific musical performance that I
would like to analyze is the Uintah High School choral concert titled Couch Potato 2, which took
place in Vernal, Utah, on February 23, 2017. This concert, Couch Potato 2, is a perfect example of a
community performance designed to engage the crowd as well as the performers. In order to

This concert was put together by all the choral students, from the general choir students to the audition
only advanced choir students, with the intention of having a fun, relaxed concert before starting to
learn more advanced competition music. Before the program started, the director, Mr. Merryweather,
welcomed the audience and explained this, and told that the idea came from the success of a previous
concert named Couch Potato. The students then entered and sang songs, complete with choreography,
from popular movies. As such, the performance was an interpretation of the composer s, the director s,
and the performer s intentions. The songs performed, as I mentioned, were taken from movies, so the
composer s view when writing the song for the movie was taken into account. For instance, one
popular song that was sung was the Mission Impossible theme song. The composer intended for this
song to be

Effects Of Stress On The Family
Stress has become a major epidemic for Americans. What is Stress? Stress is the state of mental or
emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances . The survey
results seem to tie in with what research shows, that 43 percent of all adults suffer adverse health
effects from stress. Given the potential health complications related to stress, it is fair to say stress
certainly is a health problem in America. (APA, 2006)
This article discusses the effects of stress on the family and how stress affects children to parents who
are stressed. The survey mentions how stress is affecting all of Americans from the children to the
parents, challenges in practicing healthy behaviors. Americans busy life keeps them from managing
stress successfully. The need to educate adults about effective strategies in dealing with stress. Parents
may think that they are dealing with their stress well and hiding it from their children but the key
findings in the surveys performed prove otherwise. In the survey, 91% of children reported they were
aware that their parents were dealing with stress by observing distinct behaviors such as arguing and
yelling.
There was a considerable amount of surveys performed to determine how stress affects adults and
children in America either emotionally or physically. The first study findings discussed how stress
affects children whether normal weight and overweight. Per the key findings, it was determined that
overweight children are significantly affected by stress than children who are at a normal weight.
Survey shows that children who are overweight are roughly over 30% more stressed about their
weight and the dealings in their life than a child with a normal weight. Per the health conditions stats,
these children were affected physically, stating over 48% of overweight children verses 33% of
children with a normal weight have trouble falling asleep at night.
The next survey findings are of the causes of stress for American families and distinguishes the
difference between what is perception and reality when it relates to stress. It discusses a few of the top
sources of stress for the average single American, which is money ranking at 76%, work at 70% and

Great Expectations Dysfunctional Families Essay
Dysfunctional families are a relatively common occurrence, and they often are consumed by their
dysfunction. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, there are many dysfunctional families, and
they all are the result of various problems. The family unit of Joe, Mrs. Joe and Pip, a lower class
family faces very different problems from the family that is Ms. Havisham and Estella, a middle or
upper class family. The commonality that dysfunctional families in Great Expectations share is the
profound effect that dysfunction has on other families.
Pip s family, Joe and Mrs. Joe suffer dysfunction as a result of Mrs. Joe s authoritarian brought up by
hand method of interacting within her family. Mrs. Joe is the most dominant family member, and ...

Havisham and Estella feel over Pip and Joe affects Pip and Joe greatly. Pip s entire perception of life
and his future changes after just one meeting with Ms. Havisham and Estella. Pip begins his
relationship with Joe with Joe being a friend to Pip. Joe and I being fellow sufferers, and having
confidences as such... (Great Expectations p. 40) Pip s perception of Joe is very quickly shifted when
he experiences spending time with Estella and Ms. Havisham. Quote of changed perception Pip s
disappointment upon becoming Joe s apprentice is influenced by Ms. Havisham because Pip is
expecting to become a gentleman and marry Estella. There is no reason for Pip to this way, except that
the contempt of Ms. Havisham and Estella has warped Pip s perception. Pip s motivation for education
Joe is derived from Pip s shame of Joe s coarseness. Pip s relationship with Joe following Pip s fortune
and sudden move to London becomes strained. When pip comes back quote Pip begins to be
contemptuous to Joe as Pip becomes more and more educated. Pip s relationship with Joe is
complicated and is governed by Pip trying to become a gentleman, which, for most of the novel, a
result of Pip s interaction with Ms.

Sports Function Of The New Zealand
Just recently I have met a lot of new people here at Catawba College, and I have met people with
different backgrounds, culture, norms, etc. I have already learned a lot from my new friend, Olivia
from New Zealand. Whether it was trying a piece of gum back from her hometown or talking about
the pronunciation of words and new phrases, I ve learned that we have lived two very different lives
due to differences in our cultures. Kiwis (New Zealanders) consider sports to be crucial in their
country. Sports function in a very similar way in New Zealand as to the way they do here in America.
New Zealand is located in the South Western Pacific Ocean, just south of Australia. New Zealand has
been its country since the late 19th century. The country has governed itself since the year of 1853.
There are several different sports that America is not very familiar with. For example, in New
Zealand, Netball is a very popular women s sport. Netball, presumably the largest women s team sport
in the country, with approximately 137,000 registered players and 400,000 playing recreationally or at
a secondary school. Netball is one of the preliminary forms of basketball emerging in the 19th century.
The most similar sport in America that we have to Netball is Basketball.
Although when compared, netball and basketball can appear to be very different in style and play,
there are more similarities than one may realize. In netball, you have two nets just like in basketball.

Toni Morrison A Mercy Essay
Toni Morrison s novel, A Mercy, uses multiple point of views in order to show the growth of several
female characters. These characters include: Sorrow, Daughter Jane, Lina, Florens, and Rebekka, who
is also known as the Mistress . Morrison brings up the idea of overcoming male dependence, and
becoming strong independent women. It parallels with the idea of both slavery and freedom, and it
proves how common those concepts were in this New World that Morrison writes about. In all of
history, women have been belittled by men and seen as weak or powerless, but this novel shows the
great length women go in order to find this freedom and to survive in a patriarchal society. With the
many perspectives, it is as though when women are able to find ... Show more content on

The Victimization Of News Media
The news media has a way of making the story more dramatic by adding information that is not true. I
do not feel that they have the people s best interest at heart, the news media is about ratings. The
criminal justice system has cases that are presented to the public by way of social media and it tends to
have a cause and effect type situation. These sensational crime news stories do not provide a very
accurate image of the types of crime by which the average citizen is victimized. Nor do such stories
accurately depict the kinds of crimes the police respond to on a daily basis ((Bohm Haley, 2012 p.6).
Opinions and thoughts are formed without all the facts, I do believe high profile cases that are placed

Does a Higher Accredited Investor Threshold Clip Angels Wings?
Does raising the financial requirements to be an accredited investor reduce start up financing? The
Angel Capital Association (ACA), a trade association of angel groups, claims that it does. But data on
the angel capital market suggests otherwise.
Who s right on this issue matters. Later this year, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will
decide whether to raise the income and net worth requirements to be an accredited investor, following
the requirement in the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to
periodically reevaluate the current standard.
The ACA argues that raising the threshold would cause grave disruption to the startup ... Show more

To figure that out, I looked at data produced by the Center for Venture Research at the University of
New Hampshire, which provides annual estimates of the number of angel investors, the amount of
money invested by angels, and the number of companies receiving angel financing.
The 2010 increase in the accredited investor threshold did not adversely affect the angel capital
market. Between 2009 (the last year before the new financial threshold) and 2013, the number of
angel investors increased by 15.7 percent and the number of angel backed companies rose by 23.7
percent.
Because it s not clear exactly when the new net worth standard would have impacted the angel market
The SEC says the change was effective upon enactment of the Dodd Frank law in 2010, but the
agency adopted amendments to the accredited investor standards in its rules in 2011, and set 2012 as
the effective date for the new rules I also looked at whether the numbers of angel investors and angel
backed companies declined in 2010, 2011, or 2012. The CVR data show that both the number of
investors and the number of angel backed companies increased between 2009 and 2010, 2011 and
2012.
Comparing with 2009 might be unfair because that was a bad year for economy. Therefore, I
compared the 2013 figures with the 2007 (the last pre recession pre Dodd Frank year) numbers. In
2013, there were 15.7 percent more angel investors and 23.9 percent more angel backed companies
than in 2007.

Impact Of Drugs On Northern Ireland
Impacts of drugs on Northern Ireland Northern Ireland has had a long and hard history with violence
and oppression. For generations the people of Ireland have been at war with them selves, this has
caused lots of damage to the overall health of Ireland. The violence now is at an all time low, meaning
that this is the ideal time for Ireland to look at what harm, both mental and physical, the years of
violence has caused. The Irish people have always been known as drinkers of alcohol, this has been
one of the substances that people have been using to self medicate in Ireland for generations. There is
also a large issue with hard drugs in Northern Ireland, this has become a huge issue that Ireland has
not seemed to do be able to do anything about. Ireland has a large drug issue that stems from years of
violence and mayhem, this drug problem only causes more violence of its own. Ireland cannot move
towards a more lasting peace until they do all that is in their power to stop the rampant drug abuse that
is in their country. The people of Northern Ireland have been surrounded by violence for years, many
have added to it, and many more have been hurt by it. These wounds are not always physical they are
also mental as well, and that type of wound is much harder to heal. It is because of violence in that the
people in Northern Ireland have turned to self medication. One of the most common forms of self
medication is the consumption of alcohol. A 2010 study found that the average

The Hazards of High Protein, Low Carbohydrate Diets
A young, healthy teenage girl fell to her death after following a high protein, low carbohydrate diet for
no more than two weeks. The girl, having no identified sicknesses or medical conditions, exhibited
electrolyte imbalances along with minimal levels of potassium and calcium, which appeared to be a
result of the diet according to doctors at the University of Missouri Health Science Center. These
irregularities upset the normal electrical function of her heart causing it to stop and her to collapse (

High protein or ketogenic diets, those like the well known Atkins, are based solely on large
consumptions of proteins and fats while they restrict carbohydrates to a nearly invisible amount.
Although dieters are eating plenty of meat and getting their protein, possibly even an overload, they
are receiving very little, if any, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutrient rich foods, which are
essential to a well balanced diet ( High Protein Diets ). A study conducted on Atkins meals reveals
that, along with having too much protein and too little carbohydrates, they are unusually high in
saturated fat and cholesterol while minimal in fiber. The meals also fail to meet the recommended
daily values for several vitamins and minerals ( How does . . .? ). Therefore, with this type of diet, it is
vital to one s health that vitamins and minerals are consumed by means of supplements. There are
some nutrients, though, that cannot be acquired any other way than directly from the source ( The
Dangers . . . ). According to Ellen Coleman s article, Even Dr. Atkins . . . admits that his diet doesn t
supply enough vitamin [sic] and minerals and recommends that people take supplements.
Due to the imbalance of protein and carbohydrates, many serious side effects are linked to the weight

Essay Eighteenth Century Colonial Women
Eighteenth Century Colonial Women
In order to fully understand and analyze a period of time, a full examination of people s everyday life
is quite necessary. Although inferior to men, the roles and status of women in eighteenth century
colonial America, contributed to the prospering society. The role of the family and extended kinship
ties in the lives of African Americans is seen as a unifying and supporting force in times of suffering.
The role and status of an eighteenth century colonial woman was clearly an overlooked responsibility.
She was required to be her husband s assistant, not his equal , but an inferior. She was expected to

According to the common law doctrine of coverture, she could not sue or be sued, make contracts, buy
or sell property, or draft a will . Housewives were responsible for a number of duties; cooking,
cleaning, sewing, spinning and gardening. In addition to trading surplus foods and goods with other
women, they salted, pickled, and preserved fruits and vegetables. In the absence of ones husband, they
assumed their obligations. A woman s most important and most demanding responsibility was child
rearing. Most women could expect to bear at least six children and delivered children at fairly regular
intervals averaging every twenty to thirty months, often having the last child after the age of forty.
This is a time when women were not given equal rights to the common white man, as was true for the
African Americans who also faced many grueling hardships. Since slaves spent their whole lives in
complete bondage, they resorted and depended on their family as a source of comfort and control.
Slavery was a painful reality, which the African American men and women wished to escape. Planters
records reveal how members of extended kin groups provided support, assistance and comfort to each
other. In addition to the hard work in the fields, slaves were often beaten in front of the faces of their
relatives, which added more to the excruciating pain. They often protested the harsh treatment of those
people in their family. Families of slaves

The Invention Of Our Modern Day Fracking
Yes! Greater independence from foreign oil would be a positive, and yes, cleaner air is good for your
health, and most certainly, everyone loves lower gas prices. According to a spokesman from Pinnacle,
a Halliburton service company, In the more than 60 years following those first treatments, more than
two million fracturing treatments have been pumped with not one documented case of any treatment
polluting an aquifer not one. ( Shooters A Fracking History ). This statement may lead you to believe
there is no need for concern, but there is a big pink elephant in the room. Arguments against these
statements would prove futile, at a first glance, but understanding the true cost, to the environment and
our safety could prove more valuable than the money earned. The beginnings of our modern day
fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of
1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery
rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the
surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. (Hicks, See an Exploding
Torpedo ). This process has improved greatly and the Environmental Protection Agency now refers to
hydraulic fracking as the entire process, from the gathering of water used until waste disposal. What
was once thought to be cost prohibitive is now more cost effective than ever. Once

So carelessness of a woman made other woman suffer. This was not just little incident but it impacted

The Effect Of Enzymes On The Enzymes
Background:
Enzymes are proteins with specific 3D conformations, or shapes, which allow them to interact with
specifically shaped substrates in an active site region. The function of enzymes is to speed up, or
catalyze, reactions by lowering the activation energy (EA). The two types of enzymes are catabolic
and anabolic; the former assists in breaking down substrate, while the latter assists in building up, or
combining, substrates.
At the molecular level, substrates must collide with enzymes with enough energy, at a specifically
shaped active site, in order for enzymes assist in turning substrate into product. An enzyme, with a
specific structure that determines its function, has a selective active site, in which only certain ... Show

Therefore, as time progresses and later into the trial, enzyme speed slows down, as more substrates
have been turned into products. This was demonstrated in the toothpickase lab, in which the graph
showed the derivative/slope of the broken down substrate molecules originally increasing and then
decreasing as time progressed. In conclusion, the amount of enzyme stayed constant, and the amount
of substrate decreased, while the amount of product increased.

Nursing As A Career Choice
Nursing as a Сareer Сhoice.
Anna Leonova
Trent University
Nursing as a career choice. As Mother Teresa said: It is not how much you do but how much love you
put in the doing . These words can not but be common for nurses all over the world. Well, what makes
them love their profession? How did people decide to make nursing their career choice? What are the
reasons for people to start such a way of life? As it goes without saying, nursing can not be called a
profession or job only. It is something very special that totally changes your life. First of all, it is very
important to understand what nursing really is, what kind of responsibilities it includes. If we search
for the meaning of the word nurse , we will find such explanations as: Nurse a person educated and
trained to care for the sick or disabled (Dictionary by Farlex (n.d.), Nurse one who is especially
prepared in the scientific basis of nursing and who meets certain prescribed standards of education and
clinical competence (Saunders, Dorland s Medical Dictionary for Health Consumers, 2007).
According to the American Nurses Association: Nursing is the protection, promotion, and
optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through
the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families,
communities, and populations . All these options combined means that nursing is an integral

There is an idiom in China that says People make food their Heaven , which means everyone needs

nowadays, the position of food changes, and it seems not as important as before. Food production has
become industrialized and plants have been grown with more problems. Most people didn t realize
this and they continued this process. Then, problems appeared like flooding. However, there are still

Pollan and Hastings et al gave their idea on sugar and diabetes while Bittman did concern a little. Just
take a glance at some statics now. 25.8 million children and adults in the United States 8.3% of the
population have diabetes. 1.9 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and
older in 2010. (Cited from http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes basics/diabetes statistics/) Seriously,
syrup is the culprit and we can see it everywhere from drinks, snacks, food, and oil. Hastings et al call
syrup empty calories because syrup can t give people any benefit; otherwise people still need to do a
lot exercise to burn those calories. In the Deadly Noodles , Hastings et al said in both developed and
developing countries, people are doing less and less activities, so diabetes always trouble people there.
Compared with Hastings et al, Michael Pollan is a real detective at this issue, who see the truth for
why there is growing more diabetes. He said generally, it s us, not something else, are doing
contributing to the diseases. Government over subsidizes on crops especially on crop syrup, then

Science Fiction As A Thought Experiment
Science Fiction as a Thought Experiment Science fiction is a fairly new genre compared to many other
literature styles but is one of the most relevant and evolving literary classifications. It is a huge genre
that encompasses many different types of stories such as dystopian, utopian, superheroes, and more.
Science fiction is primarily used as a reflection of society as well as a forecast of what current society
could become. Science fiction is argued to be a Gedankenexperiment, or thought experiment, because
it conveys deeper meanings on where society is heading and forces the reader to challenge their views
about the world. Science fiction uses a human centric theme that includes changing variables to create
a thought experiment which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Authors frame their major questions either implicitly or explicitly, depending on what they feel will
most effectively convey the theme/message of the story. Explicit questions ensure that the reader will
understand what the author/director wants them to think about, while an implicit question usually
requires deeper thought and analysis. How the creator wants the readers to react depends on how they
pose the story, the content, and especially the take away question. In Uncivilization the question is
stated explicitly in the text. It is a manifesto, a call to arms, and thus is not trying to hide the nature of
its project. In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas the question of whether the happiness of the
majority outweighs the suffering of one, or few, is stated fairly explicitly. This question is the basis of
the civilization and is the question every townsperson is asked when they are shown the child.
However, in Rakka the question is stated implicitly as the message of the movie is never outright
explained, but it can be interpreted through the visuals and through the narration. The giant methane
machines that spew greenhouse gases into the atmosphere are reminiscent of the large factories all
over the world. Rakka also shows how the aliens have destroyed forests and killed plant life, which is
once more a reflection on human actions to the ecosystem. Stories in general demand an answer to a
problem, otherwise

Luke And John Comparison Essay
On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just
as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by
Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non
eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose
that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the
Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great
detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas.
In contrast, John, whom church tradition affirms the disciple Jesus loved, was an uneducated and
untrained man (Acts 4:13) who, as a disciple of Christ, was an eyewitness to His ... Show more

He also addresses the temptation of Jesus in the desert, the Sermon on the Mount, as well as many
events of Jesus ministry in Galilee and Jerusalem not found in John. In contrast, the Gospel of John
begins with a proclamation of the divine glory and deity of Jesus Christ, God Himself, in human flesh
dwelling among man and womankind, recording a relatively short span of time with an emphasis on
the later Judean ministry of Christ. Luke records many short sayings of Jesus and parables that are not
recorded in John s writings. John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that
brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. John does not record His ascension, but ends the
Gospel acknowledging that if everything that Jesus did during His life on earth was recorded even the
world itself would not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25). Luke preserves faith built
on history whereas John presents a more theological view born of

Football Should Not Be In High School Essay
Football should not be done away with in high school because it tends to build character, is good for
some of the players future, and brings community together. Letting go of football or any other sport in
high school would make a great impact on school life. Sports tend to help students be better people, do
well on school work and set a good example for others to follow.
Players in football teams build character by learning how to work together and experiencing the state
of winning or losing. It teaches young men the dedication it takes to make something you want
happen. Coaches push these athletes almost completely to the max so they ll see for themselves how
much effort is put into obtaining a longing goal. Football players develop social skills and begin to
have more respect for others around them no matter who they are. Not only do they learn life skills
they also start to see themselves as a positive images boosting their self esteem.
Outstanding football players have the opportunity to get a scholarship based on their playing abilities.
This can set them for a really bright future. On average professional athletes with a 10 year contract
get paid 27.5 million dollars a year. Being one of these players is obviously not for everyone.

My Goal Of Becoming An Artist
Futures I craved in the past were nothing compared to my goal of becoming an artist. It was the dream

most important one I developed on my own. I am excited and exceedingly proud of my journey to find
that belief, the way I discovered it, and what this realization means to me. I believe what you are
meant to do in life is what you love most. I have always wanted to be successful, and the drive that
pushes me to constantly give my best effort has not dulled. The careers that I wanted to peruse in the
past consisted of being a veterinarian, a teacher, an astronomer, an entrepreneur, and a lawyer. I had
specific reasons for choosing these careers, but like most occupations that young children choose to
pursue, my choices were not what I was truly passionate about. There were also many factors those
jobs involved that would make me unhappy, such as being a vet often requires performing surgery and
performing vaccinations. It was also based on what my mindset was at the time, for example, how I
convinced myself that I was destined to be a lawyer for the sole reason that I was a gifted argurer,
which was the equivalent of a moody pre teen. Throughout the entirety of these phases, I created and

A Simulation System Platform For Designing And Debugging...
In recent years autonomous underwater vehicles have come under the light for their vast applications.
To acquire improvement in autonomous underwater vehicle s (AUV) applications vehicle autonomy,
underwater communications, motion control, dynamics modeling as well as simulation system is
neede3d to be touched. These issues are needed to be resolved through a spiral development process
which is included at sea experimentation. To provide a simulation system platform for designing and
debugging problems of motion controller, a 3 Degree of Freedom (3 DOF) dynamic model for AUV is
examined. Based on a dynamic model controlled by thruster and fin with appendages, a simulation
system is established and motion performance is analyzed. Also an implementation of active
submarine warfare is tested. Signal processing capabilities and adaptive behavior were analyzed via
simulation. The results demonstrate that AUV has good maneuverability with or without appendages.
The implications for underwater surveillance are discussed in both simulation and experimental
context.

Retrograde Amnesia And Memory Loss
Memory loss is seen all over the world. About forty percent of people over 65 in the United States
experience memory impairment in their life which is about sixteen million people (Small. 2002).
Memory loss is the inability to remember events that happened to you, or events that were important
to you. Memory loss is different than forgetting someone s birthday, the forgetfulness has to be more
severe and last for a long amount of time, and it has to be major events that may strike odd to the
person that they have forgotten the event. Memory loss is known mostly for the elderly, which can be
caused by Dementia and Alzheimer s, but memory loss can also be present in younger people who

be caused by a mixture of environmental issues, lifestyle choices, and genetics. When a person gets
Alzheimer s the person starts to lose brain cells, which causes the brain to start to shrink and it affects
the parts of the brain that are in control of a person s memory. Some brain defects that are a tell tale
sign of Alzheimer s would be tangles and plaques. Tangles are the twisting of tau proteins, which
affect the transport system in the brain. Plaques are clumps of beta amyloids that affect cell to cell
communication and that then causes cell damage to the brain (Mayo Clinic, Alzheimer s.

Serial Dilution Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment was to identify the concentration of an unknown solution by
performing a serial dilution to provide reference for comparison. Serial dilutions are extremely useful
for identifying unknown substances as the gradual discolouration of the solution allows for simple
comparison. Although serial dilutions are extremely helpful for chemists, they are often used to help
microbiologists reliably count the number of bacteria living in a host or an environment. Blodgett
states that serial dilutions can help estimate the concentration of target microbes in a sample; this
estimation is useful when counting the bacteria for low concentrations of organisms (Blodgett, 2013).

A relationship can be identified between the colour of the solution versus the concentration of the
solution. The smaller the concentration of the solution, the more discoloured the solution will become
as shown in Table 1. As the dilutions continued the solutions gradually lost their cyan tint creating a
gradient of comparison for the unknown solution. The relationship between concentration and colour
is therefore completely linear. The human eye perceives light absorbency as colour due to the range of
visible light determined by wavelength. The Beer Lambert Law states that the capacity of a dissolved
substance to absorb light is directly proportional to its concentration (Rafferty, 2009). From this
relationship it is known that the more concentrated a solution is, the higher its absorbency is and
because the human eye interprets absorbency as colour; the more concentrated a solution is, the more
intense its colour is. On the molecular level, it is apparent that more concentrated solutions have a
higher capacity to absorb light because there are more molecules in the concentrated solutions to
interact with to absorb the light. The reason why 50mL of solution was made for each concentration
was to provide a constant standard for comparison, but also because a uniform volume ensures that a
proportionate amount of solute is dissolved into each solution. The mass or volume of solute needed
must be calculated in order to perform the serial dilution correctly. Therefore is a relationship between
volume of solvent the mass of the solute to determine the concentration of

The Hobbit Comparison
J.R.R. Tolkien is a writing superhero who has created a vast world that can be compared and

many of his own. Knowing and making many languages is what really solidified his way of writing,
by doing so he created multiple languages that are used in both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. To
understand the differences between Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is necessary to take a closer
look at the theme, plot, and characters. By comparing The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings, it becomes
clear that these two books share a the same timeline. Both stories take place in Middle Earth during
the Third Age. Rivendell and The Shire are the only places that appear in both the books. They share a

The Impact Of Modern Technology On Modern Public Sector

The second, it is gaining access to an information, which increases the transparency of the government
and brings a positive message to the public, contributing to increase mutual trust; and the third, but
certainly an important aspect, is the involvement of the public in a dialogue. In my opinion,
participation is the key to the Government s credibility. The question is, if all these possibilities
provided by the modern technology are equally effectively utilized in the modern public sector?
Welch, Hinnant, and Moon (2005) express the concern about the one way dissemination of
information by E Governments, instead of encouraging the dialog with the public. However they
argue that there could be a variety of reasonable explanations of this one way approach. Some of
them: technology is not developed yet enough to provide convenient to ways interaction; it can
increase the workload on planning and requires a lot of structural and organizational changes, which
can take more time to adjust, they also suggest that it may be that managers are correct: citizens want
ease of service and information first and interaction second . (p. 387) Thus the first stage of E
Government implementation was focused on the convenient services delivery. And Government had
succeeded in making a lot of interaction accessible and comfortable for citizens, which certainly
contribute to its efficiency and may

Calculate The Kinetic Energy And Energy Of An Object...
Calculating Energy
Introduction:
The objective of this lab was to calculate the kinetic energy and potential energy of an object through
experimenting with a car and measuring its velocity when passing through photogates while carrying a
certain amount of weights. In order to find kinetic and potential energy, we applied the concepts of
velocity and speed that we learned previously. This lab showed us the application of the concepts we
learned in class and how potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, and vice versa.
Theory: write more!
The principle used in this lab was that energy is conserved. The total energy is distributed as either
kinetic energy or potential energy. Kinetic energy is caused due to motion and potential energy is
caused due to gravity. We used the following formulas to calculate kinetic and potential energy, and
percent difference:
P.E. = mgh, K.E. = 1/2(M+m)v^2, and % difference=|PE KE|/KE*100%.
Experiment:
The materials used in this lab were an air track, a beam balance, a car, a meter stick, a meter stick,
pulley system, and weights. In the first portion of the lab, we measured the potential energy. My group
and I did this by measuring the height (100 cm) from the ground to the pulley and multiplied that by
the mass of the. After gathering the results for the potential energy which was surprisingly easy to do,
we moved on to the second portion of the lab, assembling data for the kinetic energy. We started by
weighing the car, which came out

Why The Penny Should Be Abolished Essay
A penny saved is a penny earned, to quote Benjamin Franklin. Unfortunately a penny saved is not
worth a whole lot anymore. Like many other once useful things the penny has become obsolete. The
production and use of the penny in the United States monetary system should be abolished.
Eliminating the penny would not be the first time the U.S. has abolished a small denomination. For
example the half cent coin was eliminated in 1857 with little to no trouble. This was due to the half
cent s production cost exceeding its face value similar to the penny right now. Also the half cent was
deemed no longer necessary in purchases just as the penny is no longer necessary today. One reason
why the penny should be abolished is because more and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penny candy and similar selling strategies or products do not exist anymore. Not to mention what used
to be worth one cent forty five years ago costs ten cents today. Over time the value of the penny has
depreciated with inflation rendering them useless. Furthermore, since the penny cannot function on its
own in a purchase the production of the penny is pointless.
A third reason why the penny should be abolished is because it is a time waster. When making a
purchase and an annoying penny is needed, precious seconds are wasted digging in pockets or purses.
In a culture where time is money, why is an annoyance like the penny still used. The penny is a
timewaster and its use and production should be halted immediately.
Finally a fourth reason why the penny should be abolished is because its production cost exceeds its
face value. The U.S. Mint is losing money, as it costs 1.5 cents to manufacture a one cent penny. This
results in the U.S. Mint losing millions of dollars per year. For example, in 2016, the U.S. Mint lost
$46 million dollars by producing pennies. This makes no sense logically. Why would you manufacture
a product that you can not make a profit

that didn t meet certain conditions, according to the Los Angeles complaint. New Century s

the complaint said.
Mistakes in calculation grew to more than $300 million and repurchase requests soared to $8 billion
once New Century s true financial condition was known, the complaint said. The company could no
longer borrow money to finance its lending business and collapsed owing billions.

Any claim that we acquiesced to client demands is unsupportable, Ginsburg said. KPMG acted in

Traditional Public Education
Imagine if only one size of pants were sold in stores and government regulations wouldn t allow any
other size to be made available to consumers. This may sound crazy but it s much like what s
happening with the education of our nation s children. As Americans we enjoy a wide range of
personal choice, and thankfully it includes our ability to select the pants that fit us best. But think for a
moment about traditional public education. For decades the public school system has offered a one
size fits all approach to educating our nation s children. As we approached the 21st century, the public
school system began to show its age. More and more children began to fall behind in a rapidly
changing environment marked by the introduction of personal computers and later the internet.
Sensing a need for change, many people began to push for new educational models that would keep
up with the times. This marked the beginning of the school choice movement. Both charter schools
and school voucher programs are collectively referred to as school choice initiatives, in that they allow
parents freedom to choose individualized education options for their children that are outside of the
traditional one size fits all public school system. A school voucher program provides parents with
certificates that are used to pay for education at a school of their choice, rather than the public school
to which they are assigned. Charter schools on the other hand are publicly funded schools that have
been freed from inefficient public school system rules and regulations in exchange for accountability
to produce positive, measurable results. These agreed to results are set forth in each school s Liles 2
charter. The ability for parents to choose an education path that is best for their children is an exciting
opportunity currently revolutionizing public education.
Considering the importance of public education, it s understandable that many people would be
hesitant to make changes to the system. Those opposed to school choice site concerns that public
schools would be traded in for profit based education corporations that care more for financial profit
than the individual education of students. Others site concern for what appears to

Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the
whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and
cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant
changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the
number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate
its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial
whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and
granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific
research efforts. After the10 year period, it was decided that a Comprehensive Assessment would be
conducted and enough data would be collected in order to reconsider the moratorium.
The moratorium proved largely successful in that many stocks of larger whales such as the Bowhead

Yurano s Chushingura Loyalty In The Japanese Culture
Shown in the book Chushingura loyalty is very important in the Japanese culture. They ve always
lived by absolute loyalty and self sacrifice for their families and their heir. The two characters I think
that represent the best and worst qualities of the Japanese Bushido and Japanese spirit are Oboshi
Yuranosuke and Honzo. Yuranosuke presents the best qualities while Honzo present more so of the
worst qualities.
Yuranosuke throughout the book shows absolute loyalty. He is the chief retainer of Lord Enya, he
served throughout as a mediator in the story. In Act four, when Hangan was ordered by the shogun to
commit suicide for drawing his sword on a fellow ronin. When Yuranosuke shows up he is too late,
when he enters Hangan stabs himself with his sword. Before he dies, Hangan tells Yuranosuke he
wants vengeance upon Moronao. After Hangan death Yuranosuke then forms an alliance of retainers
who all agree to swear vengeance upon Moronao. This act of vengeance presented Yuranosuke s
loyalty to Hangan and what classifies him as a perfect model for the Bushido code. The death he
eventually offers Moronao is perhaps not even a death of dishonor. Yuranosuke offers Moronao the
honor of committing sepukku, but Moronao does not accept it. He attempt to ... Show more content on

You could see the dedication from within with each character; the dedication in which the willingness
to make whatever sacrifice which is necessary to prove the righteousness of one s beliefs. Even with
the seppuku which was the ritual way of suicide for the Japanese, this was a form of punishment for
samurai who had serious offenses, or performed because they had brought shame to themselves.
Bushido code is what makes this story even more Japanese. It so that the Japanese culture still live
with a strong sense of loyalty and Bushido in all types of relationships in its

The Golden Compass Philip Pullman
Despite the variety of genres that Philip Pullman has explored from historical fiction to fantasy which
have lead to a plethora of criticism, Pullman writes enchanting tales first and foremost for his audience
s enjoyment. In an interview discussing the teaching of children s literature Pullman humbly requests
to let the children enjoy the books before doing anything else, before counting semicolons, looking at
specific adjectives etc. His books are written to enchant, delight and beguile the read to be enjoyed
after, not during. (Scholastic). Margo Jefferson praises his writing saying If you are going to preface
your books with passages from Milton, Rilke and John Ashbery, then you had better write well.
Pullman does. His prose has texture and flexibility, like excellent fabric. And he gives us so much.
Suspense of course, but such degrees of pleasure, excitement (the excitement of meeting characters,
not just adventurers) and grief (Jefferson). While he incorporates various sophisticated literary
elements in each of his pieces, his works are for those who pick up his books despite their ability to
reference Milton or the Bible. Even though he is Oxford educated like Tolkien and Lewis, his unique
upbringing has molded his writing to starkly contrast his writing from that of his colleagues. In The
Broken Bridge, Clockwork, and The Golden Compass, one can appreciate the unique experience
Philip Pullman presents to his readers through his literary allusions, themes and

The Torah Analysis
The main idea of my Torah portion is about the meaning of forgiveness. In my torah portion, Jacob is
about to meet his brother Esau more than 20 years after Jacob stole his birthright by tricking their
father. When they last saw each other, Esau threatened to kill Jacob for having wronged him.
Jacob is commanded by G d to return to the land of his ancestors, and to do so, he must travel through
the land of his brother, Esau. Jacob, thinking his brother wants to hurt him, sends spies to assess his
army, gifts to soften his spirt, and separates his his family to protect them before meeting face to face
with Esau. It turns out that Jacob s fears were with unwarranted, or a fiction as my dad likes to say,
because when Esau saw Jacob, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our world, it seems that there is so much anger and hatred between people and countries because no
one knows how to forgive. Rather than letting go , people think the score has to be even or the other
person has to suffer some injury in order to earn one s forgiveness. While I get these feelings, and
often feel the same, my experience with my sister has showed me that I can improve our relationship
by letting go. My parents often say to me that I remember everything and that when we start to argue,
they call bringing up the past paponcha. I told my dad that my mitzvah project should be no more
paponcha but he said that should be your life s

A Critical Analysis Of Technological Disruption Essay
A Critical Analysis of Technological Disruption in the Book Industry In the last decade, content
industries have experienced massive technological disruption. From streaming services such as Netflix
and Spotify to online newspaper subscriptions and e readers, technology has forced these industries to
experiment with different models and adapt to consumers changing expectations. The United States
publishing industry is worth about 27 billion dollars with over 1 million books published in 2009
(Campbell et al., 2016, p. 53). While books were traditionally a print product made in either a
hardcover or softcover format, modern e readers such as Amazon s Kindle and Barnes and Noble s
Nook have popularized the consumption of digital books called e books. Traditional industry leaders
believe e readers are a threat to the industry s existence because they radically affecting the ways in
which industry leaders generate profit. In this paper, I will critically analyze the effect of e readers on
the book industry. First, I will describe how the industry has changed in the last decade since the
Kindle was introduced. Then, I will analyze trends between the book industry and other industries that
face similar technological disruption. Then, I will provide broader societal context for those trends and
interpret their meaning. Finally, I will evaluate whether the disruption has had good or bad effects for
both producers and consumers, and discuss potential learning opportunities for

The Gun Owners of America interest group rated Roy Blunt at 70% in 2013 ( The Voter s, n.d.). This was rather surprising as Roy Blunt stands overall is pro gun, but had voted for a few gun regulation laws. From this rating it can be inferred Roy Blunt may not be as pro gun as most Republican Senators. The American Federation of Teachers rated Roy Blunt at 14% in 2012 ( The Voter s, n.d.). This is surprising as Roy Blunt used to be a teacher and a student of the public education system. • 4. Couch Potato 2 Analysis I have been to many different musical performances throughout my life, and have performed in about as many as well. These performances range in purpose and technique from a Native American powwow intended to unify people of different tribes, to professional a cappella groups performing in front of large audiences for entertainment. No matter what culture presents music or what genre it belongs to, something can be learned from a performance. One specific musical performance that I would like to analyze is the Uintah High School choral concert titled Couch Potato 2, which took place in Vernal, Utah, on February 23, 2017. This concert, Couch Potato 2, is a perfect example of a community performance designed to engage the crowd as well as the performers. In order to understand how ... The students then entered and sang songs, complete with choreography, from popular movies. As such, the performance was an interpretation of the composer s, the director s, and the performer s intentions. The songs performed, as I mentioned, were taken from movies, so the composer s view when writing the song for the movie was taken into account. Stress is the state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances . The survey results seem to tie in with what research shows, that 43 percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress. Given the potential health complications related to stress, it is fair to say stress certainly is a health problem in America. Americans busy life keeps them from managing stress successfully. The need to educate adults about effective strategies in dealing with stress. Parents may think that they are dealing with their stress well and hiding it from their children but the key findings in the surveys performed prove otherwise. In the survey, 91% of children reported they were aware that their parents were dealing with stress by observing distinct behaviors such as arguing and yelling. There was a considerable amount of surveys performed to determine how stress affects adults and children in America either emotionally or physically. The first study findings discussed how stress affects children whether normal weight and overweight. Per the key findings, it was determined that overweight children are significantly affected by stress than children who are at a normal weight. Survey shows that children who are overweight are roughly over 30% more stressed about their weight and the dealings in their life than a child with a normal weight. Per the health conditions stats, these children were affected physically, stating over 48% of overweight children verses 33% of children with a normal weight have trouble falling asleep at night. Does raising the financial requirements to be an accredited investor reduce start up financing? The Angel Capital Association (ACA), a trade association of angel groups, claims that it does. But data on the angel capital market suggests otherwise. Who s right on this issue matters. Later this year, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will decide whether to raise the income and net worth requirements to be an accredited investor, following the requirement in the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to periodically reevaluate the current standard. To figure that out, I looked at data produced by the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire, which provides annual estimates of the number of angel investors, the amount of money invested by angels, and the number of companies receiving angel financing. The 2010 increase in the accredited investor threshold did not adversely affect the angel capital market. Between 2009 (the last year before the new financial threshold) and 2013, the number of angel investors increased by 15.7 percent and the number of angel backed companies rose by 23.7 percent. Because it s not clear exactly when the new net worth standard would have impacted the angel market The SEC says the change was effective upon enactment of the Dodd Frank law in 2010, but the agency adopted amendments to the accredited investor standards in its rules in 2011, and set 2012 as the effective date for the new rules I also looked at whether the numbers of angel investors and angel backed companies declined in 2010, 2011, or 2012. The CVR data show that both the number of investors and the number of angel backed companies increased between 2009 and 2010, 2011 and 2012. Comparing with 2009 might be unfair because that was a bad year for economy. Therefore, I compared the 2013 figures with the 2007 (the last pre recession pre Dodd Frank year) numbers. Greater independence from foreign oil would be a positive, and yes, cleaner air is good for your health, and most certainly, everyone loves lower gas prices. According to a spokesman from Pinnacle, a Halliburton service company, In the more than 60 years following those first treatments, more than two million fracturing treatments have been pumped with not one documented case of any treatment polluting an aquifer not one. The beginnings of our modern day fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of 1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. It is a manifesto, a call to arms, and thus is not trying to hide the nature of its project. In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas the question of whether the happiness of the majority outweighs the suffering of one, or few, is stated fairly explicitly. This question is the basis of the civilization and is the question every townsperson is asked when they are shown the child. However, in Rakka the question is stated implicitly as the message of the movie is never outright explained, but it can be interpreted through the visuals and through the narration. The giant methane machines that spew greenhouse gases into the atmosphere are reminiscent of the large factories all over the world. Rakka also shows how the aliens have destroyed forests and killed plant life, which is once more a reflection on human actions to the ecosystem. • 22. Luke And John Comparison Essay On the surface, the Gospels of Luke and John seem to contain more differences than similarities; just as the men who wrote them were different. Author of one of the synoptic Gospels, Luke, identified by Paul as the beloved physician (Col. 4:14), was a well educated Gentile who writes a historical, non eyewitness, carefully investigated, consecutive account of events (Luke 1:3) for the specific purpose that the recipient would know the exact truth of what he was taught (Luke 1:4). From the angel of the Lord s words to Zacharias preceding Jesus birth to Christ s ascension into heaven, Luke gives great detail of events and is more interested in persons than ideas. In contrast, John, whom church tradition affirms the disciple Jesus loved, was an uneducated and untrained man (Acts 4:13) who, as a disciple of Christ, was an eyewitness to His ... He also addresses the temptation of Jesus in the desert, the Sermon on the Mount, as well as many events of Jesus ministry in Galilee and Jerusalem not found in John. In contrast, the Gospel of John begins with a proclamation of the divine glory and deity of Jesus Christ, God Himself, in human flesh dwelling among man and womankind, recording a relatively short span of time with an emphasis on the later Judean ministry of Christ. Luke records many short sayings of Jesus and parables that are not recorded in John s writings. John expands on encounters with Jesus with an element of symbolism that brings a deep revelation of the person of Christ. John does not record His ascension, but ends the Gospel acknowledging that if everything that Jesus did during His life on earth was recorded even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25). I had specific reasons for choosing these careers, but like most occupations that young children choose to pursue, my choices were not what I was truly passionate about. There were also many factors those jobs involved that would make me unhappy, such as being a vet often requires performing surgery and performing vaccinations. It was also based on what my mindset was at the time, for example, how I convinced myself that I was destined to be a lawyer for the sole reason that I was a gifted argurer, which was the equivalent of a moody pre teen. These issues are needed to be resolved through a spiral development process which is included at sea experimentation. To provide a simulation system platform for designing and debugging problems of motion controller, a 3 Degree of Freedom (3 DOF) dynamic model for AUV is examined. Based on a dynamic model controlled by thruster and fin with appendages, a simulation system is established and motion performance is analyzed. Also an implementation of active submarine warfare is tested. Signal processing capabilities and adaptive behavior were analyzed via simulation. The results demonstrate that AUV has good maneuverability with or without appendages. The implications for underwater surveillance are discussed in both simulation and experimental context. • 27. Serial Dilution Lab Report The purpose of the experiment was to identify the concentration of an unknown solution by performing a serial dilution to provide reference for comparison. Serial dilutions are extremely useful for identifying unknown substances as the gradual discolouration of the solution allows for simple comparison. Although serial dilutions are extremely helpful for chemists, they are often used to help microbiologists reliably count the number of bacteria living in a host or an environment. Blodgett states that serial dilutions can help estimate the concentration of target microbes in a sample; this estimation is useful when counting the bacteria for low concentrations of organisms (Blodgett, 2013). Having an estimate of the concentration of bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A relationship can be identified between the colour of the solution versus the concentration of the solution. The smaller the concentration of the solution, the more discoloured the solution will become as shown in Table 1. As the dilutions continued the solutions gradually lost their cyan tint creating a gradient of comparison for the unknown solution. The relationship between concentration and colour is therefore completely linear. The human eye perceives light absorbency as colour due to the range of visible light determined by wavelength. The Beer Lambert Law states that the capacity of a dissolved substance to absorb light is directly proportional to its concentration (Rafferty, 2009). From this relationship it is known that the more concentrated a solution is, the higher its absorbency is and because the human eye interprets absorbency as colour; the more concentrated a solution is, the more intense its colour is. On the molecular level, it is apparent that more concentrated solutions have a higher capacity to absorb light because there are more molecules in the concentrated solutions to interact with to absorb the light. The reason why 50mL of solution was made for each concentration was to provide a constant standard for comparison, but also because a uniform volume ensures that a proportionate amount of solute is dissolved into each solution. The mass or volume of solute needed must be calculated in order to perform the serial dilution correctly. Therefore is a relationship between volume of solvent the mass of the solute to determine the concentration of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my opinion, participation is the key to the Government s credibility. The question is, if all these possibilities provided by the modern technology are equally effectively utilized in the modern public sector? Welch, Hinnant, and Moon (2005) express the concern about the one way dissemination of information by E Governments, instead of encouraging the dialog with the public. However they argue that there could be a variety of reasonable explanations of this one way approach. Some of them: technology is not developed yet enough to provide convenient to ways interaction; it can increase the workload on planning and requires a lot of structural and organizational changes, which can take more time to adjust, they also suggest that it may be that managers are correct: citizens want ease of service and information first and interaction second . Calculating Energy Introduction: The objective of this lab was to calculate the kinetic energy and potential energy of an object through experimenting with a car and measuring its velocity when passing through photogates while carrying a certain amount of weights. In order to find kinetic and potential energy, we applied the concepts of velocity and speed that we learned previously. This lab showed us the application of the concepts we learned in class and how potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, and vice versa. Theory: write more! The principle used in this lab was that energy is conserved. The total energy is distributed as either kinetic energy or potential energy. Kinetic energy is caused due to motion and potential energy is caused due to gravity. We used the following formulas to calculate kinetic and potential energy, and percent difference: P.E. = mgh, K.E. = 1/2(M+m)v^2, and % difference=|PE KE|/KE*100%. Experiment: The materials used in this lab were an air track, a beam balance, a car, a meter stick, a meter stick, pulley system, and weights. In the first portion of the lab, we measured the potential energy. My group and I did this by measuring the height (100 cm) from the ground to the pulley and multiplied that by the mass of the. • 31. Why The Penny Should Be Abolished Essay A penny saved is a penny earned, to quote Benjamin Franklin. Unfortunately a penny saved is not worth a whole lot anymore. Like many other once useful things the penny has become obsolete. The production and use of the penny in the United States monetary system should be abolished. Eliminating the penny would not be the first time the U.S. has abolished a small denomination. For example the half cent coin was eliminated in 1857 with little to no trouble. This was due to the half cent s production cost exceeding its face value similar to the penny right now. Also the half cent was deemed no longer necessary in purchases just as the penny is no longer necessary today. One reason why the penny should be abolished is because more and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Penny candy and similar selling strategies or products do not exist anymore. Not to mention what used to be worth one cent forty five years ago costs ten cents today. Over time the value of the penny has depreciated with inflation rendering them useless. Furthermore, since the penny cannot function on its own in a purchase the production of the penny is pointless. A third reason why the penny should be abolished is because it is a time waster. When making a purchase and an annoying penny is needed, precious seconds are wasted digging in pockets or purses. In a culture where time is money, why is an annoyance like the penny still used. The penny is a timewaster and its use and production should be halted immediately. Finally a fourth reason why the penny should be abolished is because its production cost exceeds its face value. The U.S. Mint is losing money, as it costs 1.5 cents to manufacture a one cent penny. This results in the U.S. Mint losing millions of dollars per year. For example, in 2016, the U.S. Mint lost $46 million dollars by producing pennies. This makes no sense logically. Why would you manufacture a product that you can not make a profit ... This may sound crazy but it s much like what s happening with the education of our nation s children. As Americans we enjoy a wide range of personal choice, and thankfully it includes our ability to select the pants that fit us best. But think for a moment about traditional public education. For decades the public school system has offered a one size fits all approach to educating our nation s children. As we approached the 21st century, the public school system began to show its age. More and more children began to fall behind in a rapidly changing environment marked by the introduction of personal computers and later the internet. Sensing a need for change, many people began to push for new educational models that would keep up with the times. This marked the beginning of the school choice movement. Both charter schools and school voucher programs are collectively referred to as school choice initiatives, in that they allow parents freedom to choose individualized education options for their children that are outside of the traditional one size fits all public school system. A school voucher program provides parents with certificates that are used to pay for education at a school of their choice, rather than the public school to which they are assigned. Charter schools on the other hand are publicly funded schools that have been freed from inefficient public school system rules and regulations in exchange for accountability to produce positive, measurable results. These agreed to results are set forth in each school s Liles 2 charter. The ability for parents to choose an education path that is best for their children is an exciting opportunity currently revolutionizing public education. Considering the importance of public education, it s understandable that many people would be hesitant to make changes to the system. In a world where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. But why would nations who did not participate in the whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. • 43. The Golden Compass Philip Pullman Despite the variety of genres that Philip Pullman has explored from historical fiction to fantasy which have lead to a plethora of criticism, Pullman writes enchanting tales first and foremost for his audience s enjoyment. In an interview discussing the teaching of children s literature Pullman humbly requests to let the children enjoy the books before doing anything else, before counting semicolons, looking at specific adjectives etc. His books are written to enchant, delight and beguile the read to be enjoyed after, not during. (Scholastic). Margo Jefferson praises his writing saying If you are going to preface your books with passages from Milton, Rilke and John Ashbery, then you had better write well. Pullman does. His prose has texture and flexibility, like excellent fabric. And he gives us so much. Suspense of course, but such degrees of pleasure, excitement (the excitement of meeting characters, not just adventurers) and grief (Jefferson). While he incorporates various sophisticated literary elements in each of his pieces, his works are for those who pick up his books despite their ability to reference Milton or the Bible. Even though he is Oxford educated like Tolkien and Lewis, his unique upbringing has molded his writing to starkly contrast his writing from that of his colleagues. In The Broken Bridge, Clockwork, and The Golden Compass, one can appreciate the unique experience Philip Pullman presents to his readers through his literary allusions, themes and ... In our world, it seems that there is so much anger and hatred between people and countries because no one knows how to forgive. Rather than letting go , people think the score has to be even or the other person has to suffer some injury in order to earn one s forgiveness. While I get these feelings, and often feel the same, my experience with my sister has showed me that I can improve our relationship by letting go. My parents often say to me that I remember everything and that when we start to argue, they call bringing up the past paponcha.
