Speech On Vlad The Impaler
Vlad Dracul II or better known as Vlad the Impaler was born in Sigisohara on November 4th 1431. He
was the son of prince Vlad and grew up as a troublesome child who had a lust for blood. Vlad seized
his father s throne in 1448 and permanently in 1456. In 1459 Vlad lived in the city of Brasov where he
had over 30,000 Impaled, then in 1460 he moved onto the city of Sibiu and had over 10,000 impaled.
In 1462 Vlad was deposed by the ottoman Sultan Mahammad II. Vlad Dracula was betrayed by his
ally the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinos. He was imprisoned in Hungary for 12 years where he
adopted the Catholic Religion even though he was Romanian. In 1476 Vlad Dracula regained the
throne, but Vlad Dracula was killed by the Ottoman ally Laiota Basarab. Now I m going to go through
them separately to give you a grasp of just how hateful and nasty the citizens of Transylvania
portrayed and depicted him as.

The American Of American History
Learning about American history is an extremely fascinating topic. It s intriguing how our great nation
developed and changed throughout history. From wars to treaties, it s all essential in understanding
how our nation has grown to be what it is now. In our ever growing society today, immigrants are
migrating to this nation with hopes and dreams. Hopes and dreams that lead them to live a better and
more prosperous life. The United States of America is known as big melting pot . This melting pot that
they refer to is an integration of nationalities, cultures, and ethnicities during the 1980 s. This term
came into use in the 1780 s. Multiculturalism has always played a vital role in shaping our society. It
is defined as the historical evolution of cultural diversity within a jurisdiction. The jurisdiction being
the United States. With this in mind, it is evident that the idea of an American dream did influence
immigration over the course of our nation s history. For any American citizen, living the American
Dream is an essential part. It is what they want to be a part of. Citizens feel entitled to live the
American Dream because they it s become so important in this country to become successful. This has
been part of American social issues for a very long time and continues to be an issue now, in the
present day. American Dream? Well, what exactly is an American dream? Is it an idea? A notion? A
thesis? Well, in the simplest form, the American dream is an idea. An idea

Inventory and St. Louis
Background of SportStuff.com
SportStuff.com is founded in 1996 by Sanjay Gupta. The company is supplying affordable sports
equipment for the parents to their children. Sanjay Gupta created the idea of this business because the
parents complained that the children grow rapidly. It was not efficient and wasting money to replace
the sports equipment for the children frequently. Since parents had to replace new expensive skates,
skis, jackets, and shoes so often that it became of the rapid growth of children. Therefore, the
company purchased used equipment from families and any surplus equipment from manufacturers and
retailers and sold them over the Internet.

The information system has to be good enough to ordinate and connect the different stages within the
supply chain.
For leasing warehouses in the other five locations, including that in St. Louis, increasing the number
of the facilities but not the size would have higher responsiveness. More facilities close to the end user
can shorten the response time and the transportation cost can be lower. However, the facility cost will
increase by building more new warehouses. The inventory cost will increase too, since the
decentralized inventory will be greater than consolidate all the inventories in one big warehouse.
Therefore, leasing more facilities beside in St. Louis will be more responsive but less efficient for the
company.
Analysis
In the following part, the total cost will be calculated for Option 1: Leasing more warehouse space in
St. Louis itself and Option 2: Leasing warehouses all over the United States. The total cost for the next
three years of both options included the facility cost, inventory holding cost and the UPS charges. In
the calculation, we assumed that the inbound transportation costs of shipments from suppliers were
stay the same for both options. Also, we assumed that the delivery is between warehouses to end users
only. The transportation cost between warehouse to warehouse is not in the case.
Year 2000
Total Demand = 2,565,000

Option 2: Lease 1 Small Warehouse in Seattle and St. Louis

Essay Comparing Frankenstein And The Rime Of The Ancient...
The Romantic Era was a literary movement that swept through virtually every country in the 18th
century that encompassed placing importance on the beauty of nature, passion of the imagination and
human emotions. The emphasis was on self expression and individual uniqueness whereas, society
should be driven by passionate emotions rather than strict confining rules and rituals. There was a
great interest in the mysteries of life, intuition and the pursuit of divine revelation whereas, the spirit
of God is present in all humans and animals. God made and loves all creatures great and small equally,
therefore, there is not a single creature better or more important than another. Playing God, or

decreed my utter and terrible destruction (23). Victor s consequences or punishment for defying the
laws of nature and creating a monster was to become enslaved by the unnatural man and is forced to
watch his loved ones be murdered one by one, while he remains powerless to stop the horrible events.
The monster passionately seeks revenge against Victor for abandoning him when the world

World War I And The Great War
Mass culture by definition refers to the set of ideals and values that develop from a common exposure
to the same media, news sources, music, and art (chegg). It conveys the idea that culture emerges
spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century. However, post
WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in
spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current western
capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the influence
of mass media. World War I, or the Great War, was one of the bloodiest wars of all time. It was a war
sparked by militarism, alliance, imperialism, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As president, Wilson was an aggressive progressive and passed lots of protective legislation for his
citizens. With better working conditions and wages accompanied by better workdays, the middle class
was built up and social and economical gaps shrunk. His triple law of privilege, or Wilson s 3 points,
was a key piece of progressive legislation. He lowered the tariff, controlled banks with the Federal
Reserve act and created the F.E.D. to decide interest rates, and controlled big corporations with anti
trust laws. But after the end of the war Americans wanted a change and they received that with
republican senator from Ohio, Warren G. Harding. Harding campaigned on the slogan of a return to
normalcy . Under the Harding administration, normalcy meant a pro business government, anti tax,
and anti regulation (shmoop). A consumer culture was created. A newspaper reporter stated, The first
responsibility of an American to his country is no longer that of a citizen, but that of a consumer
(Understanding the American Promise). Old values were tossed and new mottos were to spend money
rather than save. Mass production fueled corporate profits and national economic prosperity
(Understanding the American Promise). A new culture was founded, a United States that focused on
itself. An American culture was conceived that had fun

Automated Patch Deployment
Automated Patch Deployment Automated Patch Deployment The advantages of automated patch
deployment are several. This study offers an insight in some of the most noticeable benefits of the
implementation of patches especially those relating to the enhancement of production levels in a
production setting. An organization stands the chance of increasing its productivity levels at the
individual level once automated patches are deployed. As a result, the entire productivity of the
organization increases (King, 2007). Another advantage of automated patch deployment is the
enhancement of the security levels within an organization. The risk of losing confidential information
concerning clients, employees and other resources of an organization are on the rise across the globe.
Such critical information could land in the wrong hands making it detrimental to an organization.
Through the patches, it is possible to fix security problems within an organization s network. Attackers
use these vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. An effective, automated patch deployment will be
able to minimize the risk of experiencing security breaches in a timely manner (Godbout, 2007).
Compliance with different regulations can be met through automated patch deployment. These
regulations are designed to enhance the public good, as well as, uphold best practices regarding IT
infrastructure. The enhanced productivity and security that come with the automated patch
deployment comes at a cost. This

Woman s Civil Right
A Women s Civil Right
The speech A Women s Civil Right was written in 1969 and the feminist author Betty Friedan
delivered it. Betty Friedan was a proponent of the modern women s movement and claimed that
women in 1969 and onwards should not be trapped in the stereotypical housewife role. Friedan was
convinces that social barriers in the society kept women imprisoned in the housewife trap . She
wanted women to have better career opportunities, introduce equality with men and to eliminate the
illusion of the happy housewife . This specific speech announces that abortion should be a part of a
women s civil right.
Betty Friedan singles out women to be the invisible minority in America. The invisible women in the
American society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By means of a forceful argument, Friedan clarifies her political position by using a rhetorical device
called confutation. Betty Freidan makes certain reservations in her argument because she is aware of a
possible opposing argument: Am I saying that women must be liberated fro motherhood? No. I am
saying that motherhood will only be a joyous and responsible human act when women are free to
make, with full conscious choice and full human responsibility, the decisions to become mothers p. 2,
l.8. The confutation is used to destroy the conceivable objections against the argument: The essence of
the denigration of women is our definition as sex objects .
Betty Friedan supports abortion on demand. She believes that mother s should have the liberty of
choice. Mother s ought to have the rights to creativity beyond being a mother. This creativity involves
pursuing a career in different occupations and to reject the prejudices about being feminine. Friedan
insists on a woman s right to choose whether to have a child or not. She thinks that motherhood will
be accepted joyfully and as a great experience in life, if the choice was freely chosen. The conflicts of
being a mother will not exist once women are the masters of their own faith and the captain of their
souls: I am saying that motherhood will only be a joyous and responsible human act when women are
free to make, with full conscious choice and full human responsibility, the decisions to

History And Culture Of The Cook Islands
History of Culture
The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient
migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain
James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries started
to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and schools to
share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity.
In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends of
migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and inheritors,
Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in comparison to Greece s
heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted a similar and identical
concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of: connection, feasting, dancing,
offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of individualism (Cook Islands: Art and
Culture).
Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. Since the Cook Islands are made up of many
smaller islands, it is relevant that Cook Islanders choose to identify first with their individual island
and secondarily with the country as an entirety.
Uniqueness of the Culture
Differing from other regions and their cultures, Polynesian culture is unique due to having their own

How Samoan students cultural practices inhibit their involvement/participation in mathematical
problem solving 1. Background/setting the stage There are seven ages of Man said William
Shakespeare and it is not difficult to say that Man faces seventy problems in each of these ages.
However, just as it is natural to develop immunity against viruses, Man also learns and develops
several skills while facing these difficulties one of the classes of skills being analytical, logical, and
decision making and in more general, problem solving. The importance of problem solving can t be
emphasized enough as be it small or big, be it personal or professional, we face problems day in day
out and we wish to fix them. One powerful way of enabling Man to learn these skills is through
Mathematics. Several academicians would like to put it as Mathematical processes acknowledging
that if Mathematics refers to armory of concepts, the real deal is the process of using relevant tools out
of the kit to solve problems. Literature on problem solving in mathematics also has discussed
exclusively the need to teach students to reason mathematically 2. State your aim: Also how culture
leaves a deep impact on students learning abilities especially mathematical problem solving is the
main discussion of this paper. In structuring this essay, firstly I would like to emphasize on how
Samoan cultural expectation has its impact on learning of mathematical processes like problem
solving.

Hippo Pathway Lab Report
Regulation of the Hippo YAP Pathway by G Protein Coupled Receptor Signaling Review Lee
Stunkard Organ size regulation has continued to remain elusive. Recently, the Hippo pathway has
been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of organs
through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the
transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes that
promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated
upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation. YAP is inhibited by Lats 1/2 through
phosphorylation of serine 127. When serine 127 becomes phosphorylated YAP binds to ... Show more

Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were tested using LPA
treated cells that had YAP/TAZ knockdown. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of
YAP regulated genes were all significantly repressed compared to the controls suggesting that LPA
acts through YAP/TAZ. Similar to YAP, TAZ was shown to localize in the nuclear fractions of cells in
immunofluorescence experiments. MST 1/2 and Lats 1/2 levels were tested in response to LPA
treatment. LPA was shown to inhibit Lats 1/2 but not MST 1/2 in immunoblot experiments. Then to
test how LPA and S1P were modulating YAP/TAZ immunoblotting experiments were utilized. LPA
and S1P were found to modulate YAP/TAZ through G protein coupled receptor signaling and Rho
GTPases. More specifically, G12/13 receptors appeared to be most involved while Gq/11 receptors
were only slightly involved in dephosphorylating YAP/TAZ. On the other hand, Gs receptors had the
opposite effect, phosphorylating and inhibiting

Food Labeling
Introduction There once was a time where words like light and low fat on food packages that had no
nutritional meaning. As a result, shoppers were often led to believe they were buying products that
were more helpful than they really were. Nutrition panels on labels were also confusing and hard to
read. But the Australia New Zealand Authority (ANZFA) changed all that. In March 2001 the ANZFA
defined new standardized terms that appear on food labels such as low fat , reduced and lean to control
how food manufacturers could put their facts that are relevant to most of our dietary needs. This
meaning that food labeling helps consumers to make the best possible food choice. What is a food

of them had negative thoughts about the legal standard terms. I believe that the newly resolved
problem with the food labeling standard terms need to get more recognition because in the future
consumers wont have to fight any more for information to help them choose the foods they want and

The Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, And Frog
Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, and Frog
All organisms have different digestive systems, respiratory systems, and circulatory systems. They all
need to digest their food, breathe, and circulate their blood, but how do they do it? You will learn how
the Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, and Frog do those things, and what the similarities and
differences are. First of all, the human body, crayfish, earthworm, and frog all have many similarities
and differenced about how their digestive system works. They all eat their food through their mouths
and the food then travels into the esophagus. The esophagus prepares the food for further digestion.
The food in the esophagus then travels in the frog, crayfish, and human body s stomach. The
earthworm doesn t have a stomach, but it has a crop that serves as a storage stomach. Once the food is
in the stomach, something different happens for each organism. The food in the crayfish travels to the
digestive gland which produces digestive substances and from which the absorption of nutrients
occurs. The same thing occurs in a frog and the human body, but instead of a digestive gland it is
moved into a small intestine. In the earthworm, the food goes from the stomach to the gizzard, which
uses stones that the earthworm eats to grind the food completely. After it is moved into the digestive
gland, small intestine, or gizzard, the food is mostly digested. The earthworm and human body s food
is now moved into the larger intestine, where it absorbs water and any remaining nutrients. The frogs
food is stored in something like a large intestine, but it is called the gallbladder. The crayfish only has
on intestine. After going through all this, the undigested material leaves through the anus, or for a frog,
it is called the cloaca. Secondly, the human body, crayfish, earthworm, and frog also have many
similarities and differenced of how their respiratory system works. The crayfish respiratory system is
the least complex. Crayfish have gills, which are used to release carbon dioxide and to pick up
oxygen, by having a constant flow of blood. Frogs consist of nostrils and larynx, which opens up two
lungs. The walls of the lungs are filled with capillaries. Capillaries are

Alcoholism In Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn
Alcoholism is a very unique addiction in today s society. It is unique because those who are affected
are addicted to substance that is legal at a certain age and has low governmental regulations pertaining
to its use. The idea of alcoholism was prevalent in many works in the pre prohibition era. One of those
was Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Huckleberry Finn follows as a sequel to the adventures of Tom
Sawyer with a different protagonist by the name of Huck Finn. Throughout the story, he goes on a life

According to American Addiction Centers, alcoholism causes a person to face problems in their life,
from their work to their home, and they cannot control their drinking (3). They also experience
withdrawal symptoms when they do not drink (3). Twain mentions this physiological effect in
Huckleberry Finn, referring to it as delirium tremens. Delirium tremens is a severe form of alcohol
withdrawal that results in sudden mental or nervous system changes(4). Pap, the father of the
protagonist, is one of the characters that reveal their alcohol addiction. Pap is the abusive, racist, and
ignorant character that constantly drinks and revolves his life around alcohol. In the story, Huck
describes a psychotic episode that Pap experiences. He chased me round and round the place with a
clasp knife, calling me the Angel of Death, and saying he would kill me... (5). Twain writes about one
of the dangers of alcoholism being the withdrawal symptoms that an alcoholic experiences. The
human body and mind is not in its natural state and alcohol is the reason for that. One can see that this
can happen and delirium tremens is a legitimate medical condition. This part of the story highlights
the danger that Huck encountered due to Pap s drinking. He was chased around by his father who
thought he was an Angel of Death. There are other signs and symptoms of alcoholism in Huckleberry

The Islands Of Cape Verde
Essay #2
The islands of Cape Verde were exposed and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th century. Cape
Verde later became a trading center for African slaves and later a significant resting stop for long haul
shipping. Ensuing independence in 1975 and a faltering interest in unification with Guinea Bissau,
which is a one party system that was established in the 1990. Cape Verde also remains to exhibit one
of Africa s greatest steady democratic governments. Recurrent droughts in the 20th century caused
major suffering and encouraged heavy immigration. Thus, Cabo Verde s refugee population is greater
than its national one. Majority of Cape Verdean s like myself have both African and Portuguese
antecedents. There is a lot of Cape Verdean s that live in Rhode Island that moved away from the Cape
Verde Islands. The climate is warm, dry summer and precipitation meager and erratic. The terrain is
steep, rugged, rocky and volcanic. Their natural resources are salt, basalt rock, limestone, kaolin, fish,
clay and gypsum.
Cabo Verde s government party is Republican. Respect for Political Rights: The Right of Citizens to
Change Their Government The constitution and law provide citizens the right to change their
government peacefully, and citizens exercised this right in practice through periodic, free, and fair

Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain...
1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each
instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates
a universal ?
In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view,
as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between
Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or
realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way.
Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like
redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that
such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that
abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non
physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract
objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for
example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can
contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even
individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists

A. S. Roma Research Paper
A.S. Roma was founded in 1927, by a merger of three smaller Roman clubs Fortitudo Pro Roma SGS,
Roman FC and SS Alba Audace. Out of all major Roman football clubs, only Lazio refused to be a
part of the new project; this proved to be the beginning of one of the fiercest inter city rivalries in the
world, the famous Derby della Capitale. Roma managed to make their mark on Italian football almost
immediately, winning their first Scudetto in 1942. The post war period saw them fall off the map a bit,
as the club consistently found itself in the bottom half of the league. As a culmination of their troubles,
Roma was relegated in 1951; however, they managed to return to the first division the following year
and remain there until today. The

Roman Law During The Enlightenment Era
Roman Law
Justice has been misperceived to go hand and hand with rules in which a society must conform to,
mostly in due part to the enlightenment era. In the case with the Romans, the laws they established,
especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of disgust
for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths. However, I
argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of what it meant
to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to decay, as an act of
acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main means of connection
to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is evident that faith had
been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning with Emperor Diocletian to
Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had shown that all men were under God,
and under God they were all Roman.
Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of Emperor
Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule. Through his
reign, it was evident that Diocletian had wanted to enforce his political strength, by imposing various
methods to his empire, with varying degrees of success. Reorganizing the state by means of repairing
infrastructure, creations of

Far Left Model Of Wealth Inequality
The problem with the really far left model, involving equal work and equal distribution, has already
been discussed in depth by many, so I will only cover it briefly. I suppose that it once seemed like a
better alternative to capitalism gone wild (it prevents the wealth gap and the consequent abuse of the $
owned government), but the society based on this model quickly collapses. Look at Communist China,
Cuba, or to a certain extent, today s Europe. Europe is still great, but the cracks are starting to show.
The two major reasons are 1.) Socialism discourages work and effort by shifting consequences
(positive and negative) onto others. 2.) Socialism restricts freedom of the individual. I ll begin by
addressing the first. By having a security net so secure that it s easier to not work than to work,
nobody (well, few) will work. In a future world of more resources, perhaps that will become possible.
But we are not even close to being there yet, and this system is unsustainable as it takes from those
who would advance society and gives to those who don t. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mean in the sense of its function in a developing society.). Why work your hide off to drag along
those who are just kicking back? This system encourages laziness, and after a while even those who
naturally would work will stop because of their unjust load. This problem with socialism has a
solution: move towards the center. By arranging society so that those who work harder, smarter, more
creatively, and more productively are rewarded, all of society will ultimately benefit from their
advances. If a safety net is retained, and it should be, downward spirals can be prevented and a basic
standard of living can be available to

Kindergarten-Full Day Versus Half Day
The sky is the limit for children. The benefits of children attending full day kindergarten are far
greater than those children that attend half day. Some parents and educators disagree; they say that
children should not be forced into their educational career so young. Whether for or against full day
kindergarten, the common goal for all parents is the well being for each individual child. Every child
has different needs and capabilities. Parents have to make an informed decision on full day or half day
kindergarten. That decision can be a difficult one. Ultimately that decision is the starting point for the
next twelve or more years of education for these young children. Connecticut does not have a law
mandating all towns have full day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardized tests and classroom grades find that full day students achieve higher and improve student
attendance. There is better attendance in full day kindergarten due to the parents understanding that
there is so much more information and teaching provided during a longer day and does not want their
child to miss, supporting a childs literacy and language development has long lasting effects that are
greater in children that attend full day kindergarten (Villegas 2). One study showed higher reading
achievement persisting through third grade and in some cases even seventh grade (Villegas 1).
Enrolling a child in full day kindergarten benefits them socially and emotionally. Full day gives
children a balance of structured play and self play. Being with classmates for more hours in a
classroom forces them to build positive relationships. Those relationships last sometimes all the way
through twelfth grade. Decreases costs by reducing retention and remediation rates (Villegas 1, 2).
One study, which found full day students to be more than twice as likely to remain on grade through
third grade, showed that this academic benefit helped to offset 19 percent of the first year s cost of
extending the kindergarten day (Villegas 2). For those children in half day kindergarten, they need to

African American Social Factors
PECS Essay In the following essay, It will explain the different factors of Political, Economical,
Cultural, and Social events that drove the Early Colonist to the New World as in Defined in the
Merriam Dictionary, the lord mass of North and South Americas. King James, the figurehead and
arbitrator of English government was establishing a industry of tobacco which was one of the
Economical reasons that drove the Europeans to the New World. He himself did not chew tobacco, but
it did give a broader horizon of how he can distribute and earn the money by selling the good. This act
was commonly known as the Tobacco Counterblaste. Another reason that the Europeans were
economically driven is because of the language and usage of literature used ... Show more content on

An example of such, is the Headright System. Since the king ruling at the time wanted to expand his
horizons he began with sending a group of colonizers to the New World. In the past when he had
began to do so, only 20% of the colonizers survived. So with his authority and better judgment, the
King began to give anybody 58 acres to anyone that volunteered to go on the voyage to the New
World Another Social reason is because of the number of Native Americans decrease do to social
events that the European. When Europeans began to trade with the Native they trade utensils and
clothing that had germs and diseases attached that the Natives were not attached to, so before the
colonies came along 1/10 Natives died from natural diseases. When the europeans came along
however the number jump to 8/10 so instead of decimation it had jumped to octomation. The third
reason was because of trade. When the Europeans first settle they traded money, but when they came
across the Natives they traded something of the same worth as stated above in Economics. So the
Indians with the New technology that the Europeans carried over, started to gain the habits and way of
the settlers. Property became a major problem between tribes, and who had access to what hunting

starting a new rebellion between more tribes. The reason is because of the florida Colonization. Juan
Ponce de León in 1513 founded what was perceived to be by present day St. Agustine. He named it
Pascua florida ( feast of the flowers). In 1539 Hernando de Soto began another expedition in search of

expeditioners later camped there and continued on in search of more where they then founded present

Essay on Great Britain Rise as the Global Leader of the...
When examining the bloody and often tumultuous history of Great Britain prior to their ascent to
power, one would not have predicted that they would become the global leader of the 18th century.
Prior to the Treaty of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years War, the Spanish and the Holy Roman
Empire held much of the power in Europe. Only with the suppression of Catholicism and the
development of national sovereignty did Great Britain have the opportunity to rise through the ranks.
While much of continental Europe was seeking to strengthen their absolute monarchies and
centralized style of governing, in the 17th and 18th centuries Great Britain was making significant
political changes that reflected the ideals of the Age of Enlightenment. ... Show more content on

Under the Bill of Rights, Parliament would have a say over the direction the monarchy was taking the
country, that the royal power to suspend and eliminate laws was abolished, that the monarchs were
prohibited to levy taxes and the monarchy could not maintain a standing army in peacetime without
first going through Parliament (Glorious Revolution) . The addition of the Bill of Rights to England s
constitution pushed them forward into a political system not dominated by the interests and whims of
the monarchy. William and Mary not only changed the religious course of Great Britain and the idea
of divine right but also allowed the ideas of personal liberties and social welfare, encouraged by the
Enlightenment, to gain momentum. In addition, William and Mary moved forward with their
government by implementing new, modern economic policies which placed more focus on the
merchants of the time. While William and Mary were busy ruling the British empire, John Locke was
busy producing new ideas on how government should treat its people and vice versa. Chiefly
influenced by the political mishap that led to the Glorious Revolution, Locke published his
revolutionary work Two Treatises. In this essay, Locke argued that the reason for the whole existence
of governmental authority is to protect the civil liberties and freedoms of the governed. Locke s named
this agreement the social contract and stated

A Reflection Of Speech
Now that day two speakers have finished their speeches, I have considered the feedback given about
my speech and compared it to other speakers in the class. I reviewed in my head what I did wrong and
went back in my mind to remember those speakers who I believed did better than me in the categories
I scored low in. We learn from each other s strengths as well as our mistakes. Accordingly, chapter ten
focuses on the beginning and ending a speech. An effective introduction gets the speaker off on the
right foot. The right foot means that the speaker has accomplished the goal of a great hook to attract
the audience s attention. A speaker s introduction is a way to make the audience feel intrigued and
want to continue listening so that he or she will feel as though what is about to be said is to benefit
them. An effective conclusion ends the speech on a strong note. The strong note is the speaker going
back to review what was previously said so that the audience can remember that information and use it
somehow in a way that the speaker intended it to be used. During my speech, I felt that greeting my
peers and informing them on what I will be speaking about, which was introducing my partner, would
be a great start for my audience to be awake and to feel included on what they will be putting their
attention on. Out of the eight methods in the first objective, I used the last one which was gaining their
attention by referring to the occasion. I introduced the fact that my

Okonkwo s Society
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary the definition of primitive as an adjective is: belonging
to, or seeming to come from an early time in the very ancient past. As well as not having a written
language, advanced technology, etc. However, the second part of this definition is: having very simple
and basic way in what is not modern and that does not show much skill. This is the part that has lead
me to take the stance on not classifying the people of Okonkwo s society as primitive. The first
chapter of the book focuses on Unoka, Okonkwo s father; he was seen as a lazy and wasteful man to
the community. While reading the story told about Okeye, we see a sense of the modern world through
the asking of the repayment of the borrowed money.

The Major Causes And Effects Of Overcrowding In Cities
Overcrowding in cities
Many countries of the world are currently experiencing problems caused by rapidly growing
populations in urban areas, and both governments and individuals have a duty to find ways to
overcome these problems. Overpopulation can lead to overcrowding and poor quality housing in many
large cities. Poorly heated or damp housing could cause significant health problems, resulting in
illness, such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Another serious consequence of overcrowding is a rising
crime rate as poor living conditions may lead young people in particular to take desperate measures
and turn to crime or drugs. There are some effects of overcrowding. The first one is loss of fresh
water. According to UN Water, 75% of planet Earth is covered in water. 97.5% of that is ocean and
2.5% is freshwater. 70% of freshwater is divided into glaciers and ice caps and the remaining 30% into
land surface water, such as rivers, lakes, ponds and groundwater. Most of the freshwater resources are
either unreachable or too polluted, leaving less than 1% of the world s freshwater, or about 0.003% of
all water on Earth, readily accessible for direct human use. According to the Global Outlook for Water
Resources to the Year 2025, it is estimated that by 2025, more than half of the world population will
be facing water based vulnerability and human demand for water will account for 70% of all available
freshwater. Furthermore, a report in November 2009 by the 2030 Water Resources Group suggests that
by 2030, in some developing
Saigal 2 regions in the world, water demand will exceed supply by 50% and a report jointly produced
by more than two dozen U.N. bodies states that, By 2030, nearly half of the world s people will be
living in areas of acute water shortage. The planet is in the midst of what the United Nations is calling
a Global Water Crisis. Freshwater is the most fundamental finite resource with no substitutes for most
uses, yet we are consuming fresh water at least 10 times faster than it is being replenished in regions
of northern Africa, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, China, and the U.S.. According to the World
Resources Institute, Freshwater ecosystems the diverse communities found in lakes, rivers,

Lies In The United States
Cheating, lying and breaking promises is what we Americans are used to hearing and seeing from
what we see on the TV or hear on the news. How can we have an honest workflow, when big
companies are stealing from others and lying just to make more money without anyone knowing?
How can we trust in the government, when they lie about many things from us and feel the need to
keep secrets from us? From my viewpoint, I believe that we live in a world where cheating, and lying
is normal because everything we look or hear on the news, TV, and celebrities are fake, are being
someone there not, or making us want to follow their trend. News are always putting lies in between
the truth, just to make the stories more interesting. So, what can we believe ... Show more content on

they are used to cheating and then most likely it will follow them into their relationships in the future.
As they have created a horrible habit of lying and cheating to themselves and others, it will be hard to

Child Physical Abuse And Juvenile Delinquency
Child Physical Abuse and Juvenile Delinquency
Introduction
According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, child abuse and maltreatment roughly
doubles the probability that an individual engages in many types of crime (Picker, 2014). More
specifically, it is noted that those who experience physical abuse as a child are 30% more likely than
their counterparts to commit violent crimes as a juvenile (Wisdom and Maxfield, 2001). Physical
abuse of a child may include but is not limited to injuries that result from kicking, punching, biting,
beating, or hitting a child that are non accidental, As defined by St. Luke s Cornwall Hospital. It is
believed that because of such treatment the child is inclined to portray the same aggressive behavior in
their juvenile years, which creates a cycle of violence (Wisdom and Maxfield, 2001). This leads to my
research question: Are juveniles who experience physical abuse in their childhood more likely to
commit violent crimes?
The term juvenile in this case can be described as an individual who is at least 18 years of age or
younger. I hypothesize that juveniles who have experienced physical abuse as a child are more likely
to commit violent crimes. My null hypothesis is that being physically abused and the type of crime
one commits have no relation. This is a perfect example of Travis Hirschi s Social Control Theory,
which states when an individual has experienced a lack of social connections or a lack of social
network that

The information system has to be good enough to ordinate and connect the different stages within the supply chain. For leasing warehouses in the other five locations, including that in St. Louis, increasing the number of the facilities but not the size would have higher responsiveness. More facilities close to the end user can shorten the response time and the transportation cost can be lower. However, the facility cost will increase by building more new warehouses. The inventory cost will increase too, since the decentralized inventory will be greater than consolidate all the inventories in one big warehouse. Therefore, leasing more facilities beside in St. Louis will be more responsive but less efficient for the company. Analysis In the following part, the total cost will be calculated for Option 1: Leasing more warehouse space in St. Louis itself and Option 2: Leasing warehouses all over the United States. The total cost for the next three years of both options included the facility cost, inventory holding cost and the UPS charges. In the calculation, we assumed that the inbound transportation costs of shipments from suppliers were stay the same for both options. Also, we assumed that the delivery is between warehouses to end users only. The transportation cost between warehouse to warehouse is not in the case. There was a great interest in the mysteries of life, intuition and the pursuit of divine revelation whereas, the spirit of God is present in all humans and animals. It conveys the idea that culture emerges spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century. However, post WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in spreading across the nation. • 8. Automated Patch Deployment Automated Patch Deployment Automated Patch Deployment The advantages of automated patch deployment are several. This study offers an insight in some of the most noticeable benefits of the implementation of patches especially those relating to the enhancement of production levels in a production setting. An organization stands the chance of increasing its productivity levels at the individual level once automated patches are deployed. As a result, the entire productivity of the organization increases (King, 2007). Another advantage of automated patch deployment is the enhancement of the security levels within an organization. The risk of losing confidential information concerning clients, employees and other resources of an organization are on the rise across the globe. Such critical information could land in the wrong hands making it detrimental to an organization. Through the patches, it is possible to fix security problems within an organization s network. Attackers use these vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. An effective, automated patch deployment will be able to minimize the risk of experiencing security breaches in a timely manner (Godbout, 2007). Compliance with different regulations can be met through automated patch deployment. These regulations are designed to enhance the public good, as well as, uphold best practices regarding IT infrastructure. Betty Friedan was a proponent of the modern women s movement and claimed that women in 1969 and onwards should not be trapped in the stereotypical housewife role. Friedan was convinces that social barriers in the society kept women imprisoned in the housewife trap . She wanted women to have better career opportunities, introduce equality with men and to eliminate the illusion of the happy housewife . By means of a forceful argument, Friedan clarifies her political position by using a rhetorical device called confutation. Betty Freidan makes certain reservations in her argument because she is aware of a possible opposing argument: Am I saying that women must be liberated fro motherhood? No. I am saying that motherhood will only be a joyous and responsible human act when women are free to make, with full conscious choice and full human responsibility, the decisions to become mothers p. 2, l.8. The confutation is used to destroy the conceivable objections against the argument: The essence of the denigration of women is our definition as sex objects . Betty Friedan supports abortion on demand. She believes that mother s should have the liberty of choice. Mother s ought to have the rights to creativity beyond being a mother. This creativity involves pursuing a career in different occupations and to reject the prejudices about being feminine. Friedan insists on a woman s right to choose whether to have a child or not. She thinks that motherhood will be accepted joyfully and as a great experience in life, if the choice was freely chosen. The conflicts of being a mother will not exist once women are the masters of their own faith and the captain of their souls: I am saying that motherhood will only be a joyous and responsible human act when women are free to make, with full conscious choice and full human responsibility, the decisions to ... • 11. History And Culture Of The Cook Islands History of Culture The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries started to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and schools to share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity. In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends of migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and inheritors, Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in comparison to Greece s heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted a similar and identical concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of: connection, feasting, dancing, offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of individualism (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. Since the Cook Islands are made up of many smaller islands, it is relevant that Cook Islanders choose to identify first with their individual island and secondarily with the country as an entirety. Background/setting the stage There are seven ages of Man said William Shakespeare and it is not difficult to say that Man faces seventy problems in each of these ages. However, just as it is natural to develop immunity against viruses, Man also learns and develops several skills while facing these difficulties one of the classes of skills being analytical, logical, and decision making and in more general, problem solving. The importance of problem solving can t be emphasized enough as be it small or big, be it personal or professional, we face problems day in day out and we wish to fix them. One powerful way of enabling Man to learn these skills is through Mathematics. Several academicians would like to put it as Mathematical processes acknowledging that if Mathematics refers to armory of concepts, the real deal is the process of using relevant tools out of the kit to solve problems. Literature on problem solving in mathematics also has discussed exclusively the need to teach students to reason mathematically 2. • 13. Hippo Pathway Lab Report Regulation of the Hippo YAP Pathway by G Protein Coupled Receptor Signaling Review Lee Stunkard Organ size regulation has continued to remain elusive. Recently, the Hippo pathway has been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of organs through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes that promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were tested using LPA treated cells that had YAP/TAZ knockdown. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were all significantly repressed compared to the controls suggesting that LPA acts through YAP/TAZ. Similar to YAP, TAZ was shown to localize in the nuclear fractions of cells in immunofluorescence experiments. MST 1/2 and Lats 1/2 levels were tested in response to LPA treatment. LPA was shown to inhibit Lats 1/2 but not MST 1/2 in immunoblot experiments. Then to test how LPA and S1P were modulating YAP/TAZ immunoblotting experiments were utilized. LPA and S1P were found to modulate YAP/TAZ through G protein coupled receptor signaling and Rho GTPases. More specifically, G12/13 receptors appeared to be most involved while Gq/11 receptors were only slightly involved in dephosphorylating YAP/TAZ. On the other hand, Gs receptors had the opposite effect, phosphorylating and inhibiting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, shoppers were often led to believe they were buying products that were more helpful than they really were. Nutrition panels on labels were also confusing and hard to read. But the Australia New Zealand Authority (ANZFA) changed all that. In March 2001 the ANZFA defined new standardized terms that appear on food labels such as low fat , reduced and lean to control how food manufacturers could put their facts that are relevant to most of our dietary needs. • 15. The Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, And Frog Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, and Frog All organisms have different digestive systems, respiratory systems, and circulatory systems. They all need to digest their food, breathe, and circulate their blood, but how do they do it? You will learn how the Human Body, Crayfish, Earthworm, and Frog do those things, and what the similarities and differences are. First of all, the human body, crayfish, earthworm, and frog all have many similarities and differenced about how their digestive system works. They all eat their food through their mouths and the food then travels into the esophagus. The esophagus prepares the food for further digestion. The food in the esophagus then travels in the frog, crayfish, and human body s stomach. The earthworm doesn t have a stomach, but it has a crop that serves as a storage stomach. Once the food is in the stomach, something different happens for each organism. The food in the crayfish travels to the digestive gland which produces digestive substances and from which the absorption of nutrients occurs. The same thing occurs in a frog and the human body, but instead of a digestive gland it is moved into a small intestine. In the earthworm, the food goes from the stomach to the gizzard, which uses stones that the earthworm eats to grind the food completely. After it is moved into the digestive gland, small intestine, or gizzard, the food is mostly digested. The earthworm and human body s food is now moved into the larger intestine, where it absorbs water and any remaining nutrients. The frogs food is stored in something like a large intestine, but it is called the gallbladder. The crayfish only has on intestine. After going through all this, the undigested material leaves through the anus, or for a frog, it is called the cloaca. Secondly, the human body, crayfish, earthworm, and frog also have many similarities and differenced of how their respiratory system works. The crayfish respiratory system is the least complex. Crayfish have gills, which are used to release carbon dioxide and to pick up oxygen, by having a constant flow of blood. Frogs consist of nostrils and larynx, which opens up two lungs. • 20. Differences Between Platonism And Nominalism And Explain... 1. Platonists argue that the best explanation for why two red hats resemble each other is that they each instantiate the universal redness. Are they right? What does it mean to say that something instantiates a universal ? In this paper I will explain the notion of universals, and argue why Platonism is the more correct view, as opposed to Nominalism and Fictionalism. I will also clarify the major differences between Platonism and Nominalism, and explain how they function as philosophical ideologies. Platonists or realists in other terms claim that abstract objects are physical; that they exist in some palpable way. Plato, from whom the term is believed to have originated, was with the idea that universals, like redness , existed independently from the individual entities (particulars). Platonic realism states that such objects do exist autonomously from the particular. Platonism is the metaphysical opinion that abstract objects exist. Abstract objects are solely non spatiotemporal, they are also completely non physical. Abstract objects are extremely central features regarding the context of philosophy. Abstract objects are comprised of all the names and categories of things. These types are abstract. So, for example, a chair is both the token (actual chair) and the type (an abstract classifying as such). This can contain universals, numbers, and ideas like redness , concepts like courage and justice, and even individual humans, such as John Smith. Platonists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the case with the Romans, the laws they established, especially early on, dealing with the spread of Christianity has been interpreted with a sense of disgust for the unfair treatment targeted towards Christians, and later on to those of other faiths. However, I argue that, Roman law, when concerning religion, was used to strengthen the identity of what it meant to be Roman. Furthermore, as Rome, the political institution, was beginning to decay, as an act of acclamation, the formulation of Roman Laws allowed Christianity to be a main means of connection to what it meant to identify as Roman. Utilizing various primary sources, it is evident that faith had been gradually accepted as the dominant form of unity and law, beginning with Emperor Diocletian to Emperor Theodosia, even among emperors, the Catholic faith had shown that all men were under God, and under God they were all Roman. Roman law had first concerned itself with the spread of the Christian faith under the rule of Emperor Diocletian. Becoming the victor of a civil war, Diocletian had acquired the right to rule. Look at Communist China, Cuba, or to a certain extent, today s Europe. Europe is still great, but the cracks are starting to show. The two major reasons are 1.) Socialism discourages work and effort by shifting consequences (positive and negative) onto others. 2.) Socialism restricts freedom of the individual. I ll begin by addressing the first. By having a security net so secure that it s easier to not work than to work, nobody (well, few) will work. In a future world of more resources, perhaps that will become possible. Only with the suppression of Catholicism and the development of national sovereignty did Great Britain have the opportunity to rise through the ranks. The addition of the Bill of Rights to England s constitution pushed them forward into a political system not dominated by the interests and whims of the monarchy. William and Mary not only changed the religious course of Great Britain and the idea of divine right but also allowed the ideas of personal liberties and social welfare, encouraged by the Enlightenment, to gain momentum. • 33. The Major Causes And Effects Of Overcrowding In Cities Overcrowding in cities Many countries of the world are currently experiencing problems caused by rapidly growing populations in urban areas, and both governments and individuals have a duty to find ways to overcome these problems. Overpopulation can lead to overcrowding and poor quality housing in many large cities. Poorly heated or damp housing could cause significant health problems, resulting in illness, such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Another serious consequence of overcrowding is a rising crime rate as poor living conditions may lead young people in particular to take desperate measures and turn to crime or drugs. There are some effects of overcrowding. The first one is loss of fresh water. According to UN Water, 75% of planet Earth is covered in water. 97.5% of that is ocean and 2.5% is freshwater. 70% of freshwater is divided into glaciers and ice caps and the remaining 30% into land surface water, such as rivers, lakes, ponds and groundwater. Most of the freshwater resources are either unreachable or too polluted, leaving less than 1% of the world s freshwater, or about 0.003% of all water on Earth, readily accessible for direct human use. According to the Global Outlook for Water Resources to the Year 2025, it is estimated that by 2025, more than half of the world population will be facing water based vulnerability and human demand for water will account for 70% of all available freshwater. Furthermore, a report in November 2009 by the 2030 Water Resources Group suggests that by 2030, in some developing Saigal 2 regions in the world, water demand will exceed supply by 50% and a report jointly produced by more than two dozen U.N. bodies states that, By 2030, nearly half of the world s people will be living in areas of acute water shortage. • 34. Lies In The United States Cheating, lying and breaking promises is what we Americans are used to hearing and seeing from what we see on the TV or hear on the news. How can we have an honest workflow, when big companies are stealing from others and lying just to make more money without anyone knowing? How can we trust in the government, when they lie about many things from us and feel the need to keep secrets from us? From my viewpoint, I believe that we live in a world where cheating, and lying is normal because everything we look or hear on the news, TV, and celebrities are fake, are being someone there not, or making us want to follow their trend. Child Physical Abuse And Juvenile Delinquency Child Physical Abuse and Juvenile Delinquency Introduction According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, child abuse and maltreatment roughly doubles the probability that an individual engages in many types of crime (Picker, 2014). More specifically, it is noted that those who experience physical abuse as a child are 30% more likely than their counterparts to commit violent crimes as a juvenile (Wisdom and Maxfield, 2001). Physical abuse of a child may include but is not limited to injuries that result from kicking, punching, biting, beating, or hitting a child that are non accidental, As defined by St. Luke s Cornwall Hospital. It is believed that because of such treatment the child is inclined to portray the same aggressive behavior in their juvenile years, which creates a cycle of violence (Wisdom and Maxfield, 2001). This leads to my research question: Are juveniles who experience physical abuse in their childhood more likely to commit violent crimes? The term juvenile in this case can be described as an individual who is at least 18 years of age or younger. I hypothesize that juveniles who have experienced physical abuse as a child are more likely to commit violent crimes. My null hypothesis is that being physically abused and the type of crime one commits have no relation. This is a perfect example of Travis Hirschi s Social Control Theory, which states when an individual has experienced a lack of social connections or a lack of social network that ...
