Application Software
Application Software
Application software, also known as an application or an app , is computer software designed to help
the user to perform specific tasks. Application software is contrasted with system software and
middleware, which manage and integrate a computer s capabilities, but typically do not directly apply
them in the performance of tasks that benefit the user. The system software serves the application,
which in turn serves the user.()Application software is usually designed for end users and most are user
friendly. Application software applies the power of a particular computing platform or system software
to a particular purpose. There are many ways to obtain application software: Commercial software,

Specialty software
Specialty software operates the same as other software, but is tailor to a specially job or task. Many jobs
require specially software to perform their duties like, engineers uses computer aided design (CAD) for
process of design and design documentation. Project mangers use specially software to estimation and
planning, scheduling, cost control and budget management, resource allocation, collaboration software,
communication, quality management and documentation or administration systems, which are used to
deal with the complexity of large projects.( Young Hoon Kwak)

Happy Milk Lab
Do Happy Cows Make Better Milk?: Analysis of the Chemical Components of Milk The main goal of
this lab was to correctly separate milk into its major components. Other objectives included: performing
basic qualitative tests to confirm correct separation, identifying the major components of milk, and
assigning polar and non polar properties to components of milk. The goal of separating the components
of milk was desirable because their differences in properties required different techniques to separate
them. The casein, Vitamins A, D, and E, and fats were all nonpolar and therefore dissolved in nonpolar
solutions.1 Whey, lactose, calcium, phosphate, vitamin B, vitamin C, and water were all polar and
therefore dissolved in polar solutions.1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protein was unraveled as disruptions occurred in the protein s secondary and tertiary structures.2
The result of denaturation was solid whey protein. The lactose, calcium, phosphate, and water were
unaffected by the heating process and remained liquid. In the third separation, ethyl acetate was added
to dissolve the fats mixed with the casein. Casein, unable to dissolve in the nonpolar solution, remained
a white solid.1 The ethyl acetate, with a lower boiling point than the fat, was boiled off, leaving a
yellow liquid containing fat and various fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin A caused the liquid to be yellow,
which confirmed the presence of vitamins. The residue was added to water, where it proved to be
insoluble in water. This indicated that the residue contained fat, because fat was the only nonpolar liquid
remaining at the end of the separations. The tests for carbohydrates, lactose, calcium, and phosphates
performed on the liquid portion from the second separation were all positive. This was expected, so no
errors were made in the first or second separation. The tests for proteins performed on the solids
produced from the separation were both positive, so no errors were made in the separations that isolated
casein and whey. The test for proteins performed on the liquid portion from the second separation was
negative. This was expected because it meant that all of the whey was removed from this portion in the

The Seafarer Poem Summary
Exile, is defined as a state of being barred from one s native country. How could that even be possible;
Being kicked out of a place of inhabitance. Many say that you d have to do something unthinkable to
have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and unruly Kings, the Anglo
Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each poem discuss the personal
endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own acceptance, or not. The seafarer ,
Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to express the emotional toil, sorrow, and
each theme of their exile.
First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the waves of
the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is not a common
entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul/ called me eagerly out,
sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The gallant mortal does not doubt
that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides is far too strong to be confined to the
dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to where he feels at home the most the sea. But
there isn t a man on earth so proud,/.../he feels no fear as the sails unfurl/.../only the ocean s heave; But
longing wraps itself around him. (lines 39 47). The way he shows his fearful arrogance is an example
again of his internal conflict.

Examples Of Allegory In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Allegorical Views from the Chronicles of Narnia
When writing The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis argued that he was not writing an allegory but a
supposal instead. Lewis claims that he tried to hypothesize what it would be like for Jesus to live in
another world. In the Chronicles of Narnia, I believe that C.S. Lewis wrote an allegory. By definition an
allegory typically reveals a hidden meaning behind something, which in this case would be the message
behind the characters and their actions within Narnia. This can be supported throughout the series in
which Lewis makes small but noticeable innuendos to religious beliefs. One book that can be compared
to this series to support the claim that Lewis wrote an allegory would be the Bible. The second book,
which could support this claim of allegorical writing, would be Lord of the Flies, by William Golding.
Lewis also shares some similar viewpoints with Augustine. In Myth became Fact, by C.S. Lewis we are
given another view point as to why he believes people think he writes in allegories rather than
supposals.
The characters from the Chronicles of Narnia can be related to those found in ... Show more content on

In the Bible, the book of Genesis, Augustine believes that the snake was the one to corrupted Adam and
Eve, not just because they were human. Lewis has a similar take on this in the series. The children in his
stories he believes to be innocent and good, it is not their fault for falling into evil tendencies. In the
Narnia series, it is the White Witch s fault that the children or characters fall for evil. Both Augustine
and Lewis believe that no one is above being saved. Everyone has the opportunity to repent and be
saved by God. Lewis shows this with Edmund throughout the series where Edmund starts out by not
believing in Narnia and betraying his siblings trust, to sharing this experience with others and aids them
in turning back to the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ocd
Introduction OCD is a psychological disorder that affects a wide variety of people; OCD affects
approximately two to three percent of the general population. (Ambramowitz, Taylor, and McKay
2009). Ambramowitz and others also state that with this percent, OCD affects about twice as many
people as schizophrenia. With this many people affected, the question of what the most effective way of
treating the condition needs to be asked. The answer to the question of what the most effective way of
treating OCD was answered using the methodology of reviewing many different studies that researched
the three main options for treatment. These options include; medication, therapy, and a combination.
The effectiveness is determined by the percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The supposed obsession must cause great distress or consume at least an hour of time per day. (DSM
VI). The effected must also recognize that the disease is an excessive or unreasonable; these do not
apply to children. OCD causes people to think differently and to want to obsess or fixate on things that
they know they should not be focused on as much. There are many different things that go towards
helping people to fix this so they can have their life back. The only question is; what is the best way to
do so? One main way to fix this issue is serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This is a pharmacological
treatment option, and the inhibitors include drugs such as Clomipramine and Sertraline. Clomipramine
and Sertraline are primarily the same thing as far as effectiveness and function go. However, there is
one difference between the two medications, and that is that Sertraline is better tolerated by the human
body than Clomipramine is. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors work by interrupting and affecting the
serotonin receptors in the brain. There are, however, a few problems with the inhibitor drugs. One major
problem is that these medications are only effective in some patients (Ambramowitz, etc., 2009). This
was proven in a study of 18 randomized trials in which the effect size was 0.91. The people in this study
were given pharmacological treatment designed to treat OCD. Some patients showed symptoms after
they were taken off of the

How Does Hardin Succeed In The Purloined Letter
In the short story The purloined Letter one major difference in how Dupin succeed when he use
Inductive method of detection is the way he found the letter through his own technique. One example of
Dupin using inductive detection is when he begins to observe the little details in a logical way, Dupin
finds the letter by wearing green sunglasses and talking to Minister D all while observing the apartment
behind the lens. Something on favor for Dupin is that the police have used too much cleverness, and in
doing so they have overlooked the obvious, and did not find the letter. This can relate to the way Dupin

Avoid Payday Loans
Are you aware of how much repaying a payday loan costs? Well, if you pay on time, it s only the
borrowing charges. Though payday loans present some benefits especially when you need fast cash,
these loans have many drawbacks as well.
The application process for advance loans is easy and has low approval requirements, which is an
advantage. On the flipside, these loans are quite expensive. They are more expensive than other forms
of loans, due to their high annual percentage rates.

have no right of recession, meaning that if you cannot change your mind after signing the papers.
Many payday loan lenders want to access your bank account.
If you cannot repay your loan and you owe them a lot of money, some lenders will harass and threaten
you with criminal prosecutions and other unpleasant practices until you pay them.
How to avoid payday loans
Budget your funds. The easiest way to avoid advance loans is to plan your cash accordingly. Tighten the
budget until your cash flow every month is steady. Budgeting should be your first line of defense.
Always save cash for an emergency. Open a saving account for emergencies. Saving money will help
you when the urgent need for cash arise and offer an alternative to loans.
Request your bank for a small loan. Banks are more than willing to give you a loan if you have been
their customer for a specified period.
Ask a friend to lend you a loan. You can get a person to person loan from individuals who are willing to
give you cash for a small interest rate.
Use credit cards. A credit card has a low interest rate compared to a payday loan, making it easier and
quicker to pay off the loan than when you apply for an advance

Schooled Gordon Korman Analysis
In the book Schooled written by Gordon Korman, we follow the story of a 14 teen year old named Cap
who has lived on a farm his entire life with his grandmother hippie, who is forced to leave his farm
because his grandmother got injured. Because of this he is forced to go into our society and go to a
normal middle school and live with his guidance counselor. And because he is very different, he is a
target in middle school and because of a tradition at that middle school, which elects the weirdest person
to be school president, he becomes school president. In the book there are many craft moves that the
author does, including symbolism, first person perspectives and multiple viewpoints, to achieve goals
such as supporting the theme, setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This all obviously shows characters inter thinking and as previously mentioned sets up conflict,
however the first person narrative shows what multiple viewpoints does not. By utilizing first person
narrative in the text it shows what the character s motivation is. Multiple viewpoints doesn t shows the
character s motivation because we only see what they are thinking and saying and what kind of
problems they are having but we are not seeing what they want throughout the text. However first
person narrative shows what Cap s person s goal is and how they re going to achieve it. In the text, on
page 20, Cap says, I wonder if I can just go home and get out of this place. this really shows what Caps
motivation is, because of first person narrative, it can show what Caps interthinking is, which can show
his motivation. Another goal that the author tried tried to achieve was stirring empathy. We se
throughout the text, that Cap alwayed asked questions to himself about the world around him. It s kind
of dramatic irony because he asked questions about things that knows so little about and we see
everyday. So because of this the author makes the reader feel sorry for Cap because he is so clueless.
And by the author using first person narrative, we see Caps interthinking and his questions that he asked
himself. An example of this happening is on

The Freedom Writers, Newly Licensed High School
In the movie The Freedom Writers, newly licensed high school teacher Erin Gruwell is teaching a large
group of students who are different in race and ethnicity and are participants and/or indirectly affected
by gang violence in L.A. The name Freedom Writers is a name given to her students by which they
were inspired by the Freedom Riders activists in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. The film is
based on the true story of Woodrow Wilson High School in L.A. that has given up on students such as
Erin Gruwell s English students that they are perceived by the school as hopeless students with little
chance of success in life or even graduation. But Erin, alone, inspires dozens of her students into
changing their perceptions of education and inspires them to break out of falling into their respective
stereotypes given to them. In the film, there are struggles that Erin goes through to try to educate these
teenagers such as little support from her fellow colleagues, racial stereotypes and discriminatory
perceptions of her students by the staff members, hostility towards Erin from her students, racial
barriers between her and her students while Erin is also having personal life problems with her
marriage. But eventually, through preservation, patience, kindness, and understanding, Erin gradually
makes breakthroughs with her children by giving her students journals to understand them better.

What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation
In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of Indian
immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed throughout
is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered interchangeable, in
this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely, integration advocates for
the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants to establish a sense of home
away from their original countries. The story entitled, The Third and Final Continent specifically
recounts a young Indian man s experience trying to establish himself in Cambridge, Massachusetts after
living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his marriage arranged by his family in
Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator s apprehension for his wife, Mala s arrival from
India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate
the transformation of the narrator s cultural status in the United States. Through food, she ultimately
asserts the possibility of positive integration, rather than just assimilation, into American society.
Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator s relationship with American
food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he notices a ... Show

Essay On Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini was a pompous Italian dictator who strived and accomplished in making Italy a fascist
state. There are various factors that lead to the popularity and power of the despot leader such as the
outcomes of the Treaty of Versailles, the inefficient government and democratic system, fear of the
Blackshirts, and the poor economy. Italy fought alongside the Allies during World War One, for this
reason the Italian government was assured in the Treaty of London to receive parts of different nations
such as Austria Hungary. During the creation of the Treaty of Versailles, Italy was determined to receive

against the landowners. Although, Italy did make a few advances in the North such as the first Fiat

popularity by supporting both the working class and the industrial capitalists. He promised an eight hour
day job for the working class and dropped enquiry of the profits made during the Great War. As a result,
many individuals would seek Mussolini as a leader who would bring economic expansions to all regions

Essay about Addie Bundren in William Faulkner’s As I Lay...
Addie Bundren in William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
Woman is the source and sustainer of virtue and also a prime
source of evil. She can be either; because she is, as man is not,
always a little beyond good and evil. With her powerful natural
drive and her instinct for the concrete and personal, she does not
need to agonize over her decisions. There is no code for her to
master, no initiation for her to undergo. For this reason she has
access to a wisdom which is veiled from man; and man s codes,
good or bad, are always, in their formal abstraction, a little absurd
in her eyes . . . 1
In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying, all roads lead to Addie. As Diane
York Blaine aptly observes: The title ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

narrates a significantly shorter portion of the novel than the rest of the
Bundren family (only one chapter, in fact), and her death occurs well before
the story s conclusion. For these reasons, earlier criticism evaluated Addie not
as an individual, but in relation to the other members of the Bundren clan,
specifically, the men. Overall, Addie s importance to the novel was grievously
underestimated by early critics such as Edwin Muir, who observes:
We are told far more about Addie Bundren s corpse . . . than
about herself . . . The most interesting character is the corpse, not
in its former incarnation as a human being with feelings, affections,
and a soul, but simply in its dead, or rather gruesomely
alive state . . .3
Just as Anse is unable to discern the difference between words and acts, Muir
is unable to recognize Addie in anything but a symbol, defined by the physical
presence of her dead body.
Other critics were more overt in their patriarchal assessments. James
Burnham sternly commented on the theme of un romanticized sex in the
novel. Dewey Dell and Addie are seen as guilty of this charge; their rejection
of maternity as a consequence of sex deems them unnatural, contributing to
the theme of moral nihilism 4 that pervades the novel. Thus, early criticism,
still largely dominated by conservatively patriarchal

Why Work Teams Don t Work
Why Work Teams Aren t Allows Effective Teams have become a mainstay in the way America does
business. Teams started as social technical business experiments and have since vaulted their way into
the American business environment. Led by Deming s Total Quality Management movement the
development of teams has become the standard acceptable structure for a majority of organizations
today. Throughout my work experience and my university based education the concepts and theories
about the use and need for teams have been stressed. Personally, my position of the use of work teams,
based on my personal experiences t is that most organizations should slow down in the use of teams and
carefully hand pick specific tasks and assignment in which a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This can be demonstrated in multiple university programs including business, psychology, human
resource management, human resource development, and other departments adding team development
to their curriculum. As a student of organizational behavior, human resource development, and human
resource management, I have had my fair share of classes which stress the idea of using and developing
work teams. I sometimes feel that universities feel that the idea of developing work teams in the only
and best way to tap the human capital in an organization. Quite often these classes even incorporate the
use of team based assignments. This would be demonstrated by every graduate school class for which I
have taken at Roosevelt University, in its Master s in Human Resource Management program. Each
class has included at least one team project. In fact it seems that all of my classes used a group project
as the final project in all of these classes. In fact every class covered the need for developing teams in
the workplace. From my personal experience at Roosevelt University, I found that about three out of
approximately 5 members of a team did most of the work. Often several team members would ride the
coat tails of the other members. In an academic situation, one major problem with development of
teams is that some people are motivated by learning and by grades while others just want a degree and

Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction
Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced.
For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string.
As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together
when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon
turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half.
Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally
decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and
produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the consistency
of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the type of reaction
(addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties.
Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the
polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when
left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the polymer
s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent yield
exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate

African Bushmen And Iroquois Creation Myths
Compare and Contrast: The African Bushmen Creation Myth and the Iroquois Creation Myth
All around the world are different kinds of creation myths on how earth, animals, and life came to be.
Not one creation myth is the same to another. Every single creation myth is like a snowflake, unique in
its own way. Creation myths can vary on how earth and humanity were created, but all creation myths
always have the concept of life. The African Bushmen Creation Myth and Iroquois Creation Myth both
are alike and different in many ways. These myths are similar in the way of how each paint a picture of
creation. On the other hand, both are very different thus contrasting each other like day and night. In
this essay, I will be discussing the similarities and differences in both The African Bushmen and
Iroquois Creation Myths.
First, we will discuss and examine the similarity s in these creation myths. Both myths have many
shared themes throughout each story, as do lots of other variations of Creation Myths. For example,
some main similar points in these mythical stories include, peaceful beginning, the importance of
animals, punishment, and a bad/sad story turning event. Similarly, both stories start out with the world
being peaceful it was stated that there was no pain, and everyone got along happily. Another major part
of both myths was how they observed the animals. Alike to the Iroquois people, the African Bushmen
hold a great respect for all animals. The

Comparing Night And Life Is Beautiful, By Roberto Begnini
17 million people died, 6 million were Jews, throughout Europe in 1933 through 1945. This tragic event
was known as the Holocaust, a big genocide done by the Germans, which were mainly known as Nazis.
Two works capture the horrors of this time. One was a story about a Jew, Elie Wiesel from
Transylvania, Romania, who was transported to Auschwitz with his family in 1944, but liberated in
1945. Elie, was also the author of this book, Night, published in 1960. Do to the magnificence of events,
and storyline, he had won a Nobel Peace prize for this book. On to the next work, was the Italian film
Life is Beautiful, that was released in 1997 by Roberto Begnini. Begnini also had played one of the
main characters in the movie, Guido. This movie was about an Italian Jewish family s life before and
during the Holocaust. Begnini, being the director and a main character, won two different awards. One
being an Academy Award for best actor, the other was an Academy Award for best foreign language
film. Both Night and Life is Beautiful deal with the importance of the family relationship during the
Holocaust, but they approach this horrific time in vastly different ways. Before deportation of the Jews,
they were often known to have just lived an ordinary life. What is often overlooked, is that before they
were deported, they were often discriminated. For example, Elie and his father, which are the main
characters in Night, had to wear yellow stars that the Nazi s had given them. The stars

the island, while others turn to primitive, savage ways. First and foremost, Piggy s glasses are used to
start a fire which shows a sign of civility as fire is the starting point to civilization, with it being the way
the boys will return home. During the first meeting, Ralph addresses the group to say that a fire is
needed to go in order to attract attention to the island for a passing boat. The boys then, unsure how to
start a fire, Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the
declining sun lay on a piece of rotten wood. Almost at once a thin trickle of smoke rose up and made
him cough (Golding 56). This shows that because of Piggy being hard of sight, the boys were able to
start a fire and have the ability to return to civilization. Furthermore, due to Piggy s glasses creating the
fire, the boys can now

##m And Discrimination In Gloria Naylor s Black Men And...
Racism and discrimination towards those of African descent can be hard topics to discuss, especially
since America still experiences the discriminatory effects of slavery. The history and fundamentals of
slavery has created a rift between whites and blacks that is seemingly impossible to overcome. There
has been and will be lasting social effects including racial slurs and misconceptions based on how the
world views African Americans. Brent Staples, in Black Men and Public Space, details his experience
being treated unfairly due to his racial status. Gloria Naylor s Mommy, what does Nigger Mean?
discusses the authors first time being called the N word, how she felt, and how she asked her mom
about what it meant. Brent Staples Black Men and Public Space , and Gloria Naylor s Mommy, what
does Nigger Mean? are similar through the authors accounts of being treated poorly because of their
African descent along with ways to cope with that oppression, and contrast through their tone in the
intro and through there experience of being discriminated against and overall effect on the reader. Both
authors explore examples in which they are treated in a racist or discriminatory manner. Brent Staples
encountered a younger woman and came upon her late one evening on a deserted street... she cast back
a worried glance... picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest. (Staples 1) Just the mere sight
of him made the woman scared, after this experience he feels surprised, embarrassed, and dismayed all
at once. Her flight made me feel like an accomplice in tyranny. (2) He realizes that he is
indistinguishable from the muggers... (2), or at least to the woman. Staples experiences, first hand,
discrimination; the woman is fearful of him because of his race, and Staples feels the full effect of that.
Gloria Naylor recounts the first time she was ever called the N word. It was in class and she she says
she couldn t have been more puzzled. She didn t know what a nigger was, but she did know it was
something he shouldn t have called her (Naylor 3). She was thoroughly confused and later asked her
mother what the word meant. Naylor is treated poorly due to the color of her skin. Similarly to Staples,

The Lost Generation In The Lost Generation
Individuals of Generation X those born between 1963 and 1981 have seen the world around them
change in a variety of ways during their lifetime, from the fall of the Soviet Union to the dawn of the
personal computer. Some of these advancements directly affected their lives, while others influenced
their attitudes, opinions, and outlooks. Generation X should not be reflected as the lost generation, but
the generation that introduced technology embraced innovation and observed tragedies that implanted
fear across the entire nation.
I remember sitting in my fifth grade history class watching the live broadcast of the Challenger liftoff
and the devastating explosion claiming the lives of seven astronauts. We had previously discussed the
importance of the mission as teacher, Christa McAuliffe, earned her spot on the mission for NASA s
program Teachers in Space (History.com, 2010). I sat there trying to process and understand what
happened and we were not provided an explanation, it was more confusing than shocking, Looking back
if this happened today, I suspect schools would have dismissed for the remainder of the day. At this
time, it was an undeniably historical event for my generation. It was supposed to be a moment of joy but
quickly turned into one of the most defining tragedies of this decade. This became the first national
trauma for children, and America struggled with providing an appropriate explanation for all the
children who witness the horrific event on

Evaluating the Main Theories of Counselling Essay
This essay will attempt to highlight and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the three main
theories of counselling within the module covered this term. The three approaches in discussion are
psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic.
The psychodynamic theory originated from Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor and philosopher (1856
1939) founded in the 1900s. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in Vienna,
collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood experiences.
The psychodynamic theory focuses on the unconscious mind. Freud s credence is that different mental
forces operate in the mind. The unconscious mind can be described as being like an iceberg. ... Show

The Id is the unconscious state of mind; it is responsible for our voluptuous and immediate satisfaction.
It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also responsible for
our libido (sexual instinct).
The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of
them. This develops during the first two years of life.
The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right and
wrong.
Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other. It
involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to behave
leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue.
The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to
reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection,
denial and intellectualisation.
Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams and
interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association.
While most psychodynamic theories did not rely on experimental research the methods and theories of
psychodynamic thinking contributed to experimental psychology.
Psychodynamic Therapy was the first therapy used in attempting to explain mental illness and has had

This change can be best illustrated by comparison of Figures 1.1 and 1.2 in Appendix 1, wherein the
possible corporate structures may tend to three different values, i.e. cost, differentiation and
responsiveness; Spartan strategy has shifted its focus from a differentiation and responsive model to a
cost effective model.
Job shop method of production to Hybrid method.
The new corporate strategy implies re engineering from a job shop method of production to a hybrid
method of production. The former involved manufacturing operations with several departments, each of
which produced particular components whereas the latter being a flow operation where multiple stations
can work simultaneously. This will mainly allow Spartan to increase volume of production, reduce lead
time and it will further lead in cutting down the carrying cost of inventory, even though the inventory
will be high.
Change in Corporate Culture.
The new strategy will affect the corporate structure of the company. Earlier the work was based on the
specific requirements of the client and it was more of research based but now the focus on research will
be less and it will be more on general requirements. Therefore the type of work would shift.
The present organizational chart of the SC Department in the company includes two buyers, one
material control clerk, one expeditor and two shipper/receivers. This structure was functional to the
previous strategy

Hey Jude
Hey Jude Song analysis
Hey Jude is a song by the English rock band The Beatles and was written by Paul McCartney. It was
first released in August 1968 under The Beatles label Apple Records . Hey Jude runs for 7mins and
11secs and at the time of release was the longest single to top the British charts.
The song is said to have evolved from hey Jules , a song that had been written as a ballad to comfort
Lennon s son Julian during his parents divorce. McCartney said,
I started with the idea Hey Jules, which was Julian, don t make it bad, take a sad song and make it

This is however broken at the end of this verse as there is one bar added. Harmonically to do this the
final verse chord is turned into a V/IV allowing the chordal structure to smoothly transition from verse

Bridge 1:
As a result of the verse having a bar added to the end, the first phrase of both bridges have 5 bars thus
mimicking the lead in from verse to bridge making the song stable again. Harmonically the start and the
end of both bridges tonally are quite unstable. The bridge is an unusual 11 and a half measures long and
sees the introduction of a walking Bass line and drums with emphasis on tapping cymbals. Melodically
the main vocal tends to fall throughout the most part of the bridge, barely rising until the major melody

Verse 3:
Verse 3 has the addition of backing vocals in thirds. There is also the introduction of a stray backing
vocal as well. The stray vocal so let it out and let it in leads into the lyrical ideas found in the next
bridge. The tambourine in this verse is more frequent and played now as semi quavers.
Bridge 2: Bridge 2 mirrors bridge 1 harmonically and musically with only slight variance in lyrics and
slightly more ornate lead vocals with more passing notes but still sticking to the diatonic Fmajor the
majority of the time..

One of the suggestions is for licensed practical nurses and registered nurses to incorporate health care
education and counseling, using evidenced based clinical guidelines, to patients with chronic conditions
through continued care offered via home visits and telephone follow up calls (Institute of Medicine,

inpatient settings as this decreases the provider to patio ratio thus potentially enhancing the quality of
care, and it allows the APRNs to practice to their fullest abilities (Institute of Medicine, 2010). APRNs
participating as primary care providers widen the opportunity for health promotion, disease prevention,
and limiting disabilities via early diagnosis and treatment. Transformation to a health care system driven
by primary care practice as suggested by the IOM report will create a more qualified, accessible, and

Calypso and Circe in Homer s Odyssey Essays
Calypso and Circe
The islands of Circe and Calypso in Homer s Odyssey are places where Odysseus most challenging
problems occur. In contrast to battles with men, Cyclops, or animals, sexual battles with women are
sometimes much more difficult to win. These two female characters are especially enticing to Odysseus
because they are goddesses. Though it is evident that Odysseus longs to return to Penelope in Ithaka, it
sometimes appears that he has lost vision of what life was like with a wife, a son, and with thousands of
people who regard him as King. Although his experiences on the islands of these goddesses were
similar in that he was retained from Ithaka for the longest periods of his adventure, these goddesses and

At first it appears as though the only reason Odysseus sleeps with Circe is to regain his companions, but
she easily persuades them to stay. And what s even worse is the fact that Odysseus isn t even the first
one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: What ails you now? It is time to think
about our own country . So though at a glance it appears that Odysseus is merely succumbing to Circe s
schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read between the lines, we soon begin
to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust.
Odysseus arrives on Calypso s island alone, after the loss of his men and ship. Calypso rescues him and
loves and cares for him in her cave. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much to mind her
taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When Hermes arrives
on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is bawling on the beach a
day long activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no companions to help him
back to Ithaka, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to give Odysseus good
fortune, saying that he lies away on an island suffering strong pains in the palace of the nymph Kalypso,
and she detains him by constraint, and he cannot make his way to his country, for he has not any ships
by him, nor any companions who can convey him back

Dr. Seuss Changed the Lives of All Children
It was March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. A baby boy was born; a boy that one day changed
the world for all children. That boy was Theodor Seuss Geisel, mostly known as Dr. Seuss. His mother
and father, Henrietta and Theodore Geisel, called him Ted. Theodor became a writer, poet, and

learned to read. As a young bot Theodor began drawing many pictures. He was always drawing strange
looking people and animals on his school books. (Wheeler 6) His father would take him to the local
park and zoo, where he loved to go and sketch pictures of all the animals. His mother would sing and
read stories to him and his older sister Marnie. As he grew older his imagination continued to grow and
he continued to draw and create stories. After high school, in 1921, he started college at Dartmouth to
be a professor. He would draw cartoons for the college magazine, and he began signing his work with
the name Seuss. In 1925 he graduated at Dartmouth and enrolled at Oxford University where he met a

Understanding The Concept Of Operating System That...
An OS that does not support multithreading cannot simultaneously utilize multiple processors (CPUs).
Please explain why? (10 points) Ans) To understand the concept of operating system that supports or
does not support multithreading, we must first understand the meaning of multithreading.
Multithreading: Multithreading means running number of threads at the same given time. Usually, this
term is used when we talk about single processes which use more than one thread. So, at the level of
CPU, one thread is running at one time only, but at the OS level, multiple threads or processes can be at
running state which means that they will be periodically scheduled to run on the processor. When we
allude to a running thread or procedure, we by and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multithreading and Multiprocessors (CPUs): A processor is a container for threads as far as the OS
scheduler is concerned. Each process has at least one thread. Other than that, running multiple processes
and multiple threads are mostly the same thing: after each time slicing, the OS scheduler determines the
next thread to run for each CPU core, and then it switches the content to that particular thread. OS that
does not support multithreading cannot use multiprocessors: A thread which is a flow of execution
through a process code which has its own program counter, system and stack is a light weight process
that provides a way to improve an application performance through parallelism. Two important
characteristics of windows are its support for threads and for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP). Within
a single process, windows support the use of multiple threads of execution. Simultaneously, multiple
threads that are within the same process may execute on different processors. Without multithreading,
one cannot divide the work load, thus parallelism that is making use of more than one CPU
simultaneously is impossible. Thus, if the operating system doesn t support multithreading it cannot
utilize the multiple processors because it can t distribute the processes among the processors. That s the
reason supporting multithreading is required for this process. Q2) Ava s software company has a

When People Think Of A Presidential Election, Chances Are
When people think of a presidential election, chances are that they will focus on election night itself,
completely ignoring the nomination process that came before it. Although our current nomination
process has been around for over one hundred years, it has not been without its complications. For
almost thirty years, states have been guilty of front loading which Dictionary.com defines as the process
of concentrating maximum effort on an activity at the outset (Dictionary.com, n.d.). Every year,
different states change their primary or caucus dates to fall earlier in the year, effectively front loading
the presidential campaign every four years. As stated in my prospectus, my proposed reform involves

In contrast, a caucus is a public vote in which people in specific regions meet up and physically move
from one side of a room to another after listening to candidates debates to make their choice. When the
primaries/caucuses are over, the delegates, who represent the votes of the citizens, travel to their parties
national convention in which the delates meet with super delegates. It is here that together, they make
their choice for presidential nominee (Olson, 2016). I believe this current system is not democratic
enough because front loading of presidential campaigns has many drawbacks.
To begin, front loading hurts the democratic nature of the nomination process because it hurts the states.
All states, by the power of the constitution, are democratic and can choose to participate in the
nomination process of their choosing. Be it a caucus or a primary, delegates and super delegates are
always involved. The current nomination system is part of our representative democracy in which we,
the people, vote for representatives to represent us in government (Dahl, 2003, p.73). As the presidential
race progresses from state to state, the race itself becomes less and less about platform issues and
increasingly more about delegate counts and spending large sums of money used for convincing the
American public to vote a precise way. If candidates will be bouncing back and forth from

The Dark Knight Batman Comparison
First things first: I love Batman. Far from making me biased towards Batman films, this actually makes
me more critical of film versions of The Dark Knight. I hated the previous installment of Batman
movies, in fact. They failed to capture the darkness of Batman, providing a cheesy caricature instead.
Thus, I had some reservations about Batman Begins from Christopher Nolan before I first watched it.
Nolan proved my concerns completely unfounded.
Batman Begins tells the origin story of Batman, as the title suggests. It shows how Bruce Wayne
(Christian Bale) saw his parents gunned down by a mugger, how he left Gotham afterwards to learn
about criminals, and how, in this version, he received training from Ra s Al Ghul (Ken Watanabe) and
returned to Gotham to combat crime. En route to becoming Batman, Bruce defied Ra s wishes by

In case you hadn t guessed, Katie Holmes as Bruce s childhood friend and love interest Rachel Dawes
gives the only poor performance in the movie. She plays her role too stereotypically, especially when
Batman rescues her, as the damsel in distress and love interest for Batman/Bruce Wayne. It s as if
Holmes did not realize that Nolan wanted to create a more realistic, weighty Batman. All the other
actors give some of the most realistic portrayals of their classic characters ever, but Holmes does
nothing to distinguish herself from a comic book

The Pros And Cons Of Military Technology
Conclusion
It is common knowledge within the tech community that some commercial technology lags at least a
decade behind new military technology. The lag time will allow for an adjustment period to help
facilitate the acceptance from the public on a mass scale.
The merging does not have to be at the extremes of what is demonstrated on television shows such as
Star Trek, and there will be those who stand against the changes due to religious and philosophical
beliefs. Nevertheless, those who embrace the newfound world will outnumber those who do not. Just as
people rush to get the newest iPhone or tech gadget, they will slowly integrate new hybrid technology
into their lives. It will be only a matter of time until all humans assimilate into a future where man and
machine co exist as one organism thus breaking the biological barriers that have constrained human
evolution thus far. A.I Summoning the Demon illustrates the consequences of creating advanced
artificially intelligent machines and discusses possible solutions to the problem. The importance of
regulations is discussed along with the need for the human race to become a hybrid species. These
solutions together will ensure the longevity of the human species well into the next millennium.

Application software is contrasted with system software and middleware, which manage and integrate a computer s capabilities, but typically do not directly apply them in the performance of tasks that benefit the user. The system software serves the application, which in turn serves the user.()Application software is usually designed for end users and most are user friendly. • 3. Happy Milk Lab Do Happy Cows Make Better Milk?: Analysis of the Chemical Components of Milk The main goal of this lab was to correctly separate milk into its major components. Other objectives included: performing basic qualitative tests to confirm correct separation, identifying the major components of milk, and assigning polar and non polar properties to components of milk. The goal of separating the components of milk was desirable because their differences in properties required different techniques to separate them. The casein, Vitamins A, D, and E, and fats were all nonpolar and therefore dissolved in nonpolar solutions.1 Whey, lactose, calcium, phosphate, vitamin B, vitamin C, and water were all polar and therefore dissolved in polar solutions.1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The protein was unraveled as disruptions occurred in the protein s secondary and tertiary structures.2 The result of denaturation was solid whey protein. The lactose, calcium, phosphate, and water were unaffected by the heating process and remained liquid. In the third separation, ethyl acetate was added to dissolve the fats mixed with the casein. Casein, unable to dissolve in the nonpolar solution, remained a white solid.1 The ethyl acetate, with a lower boiling point than the fat, was boiled off, leaving a yellow liquid containing fat and various fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin A caused the liquid to be yellow, which confirmed the presence of vitamins. The residue was added to water, where it proved to be insoluble in water. This indicated that the residue contained fat, because fat was the only nonpolar liquid remaining at the end of the separations. The tests for carbohydrates, lactose, calcium, and phosphates performed on the liquid portion from the second separation were all positive. This was expected, so no errors were made in the first or second separation. The tests for proteins performed on the solids produced from the separation were both positive, so no errors were made in the separations that isolated casein and whey. The test for proteins performed on the liquid portion from the second separation was negative. This was expected because it meant that all of the whey was removed from this portion in the denaturing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Seafarer Poem Summary Exile, is defined as a state of being barred from one s native country. How could that even be possible; Being kicked out of a place of inhabitance. Many say that you d have to do something unthinkable to have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and unruly Kings, the Anglo Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each poem discuss the personal endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own acceptance, or not. The seafarer , Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to express the emotional toil, sorrow, and each theme of their exile. First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the waves of the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is not a common entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul/ called me eagerly out, sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The gallant mortal does not doubt that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides is far too strong to be confined to the dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to where he feels at home the most the sea. But there isn t a man on earth so proud,/.../he feels no fear as the sails unfurl/.../only the ocean s heave; But longing wraps itself around him. (lines 39 47). The way he shows his fearful arrogance is an example again of his internal conflict. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Examples Of Allegory In The Chronicles Of Narnia Allegorical Views from the Chronicles of Narnia When writing The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis argued that he was not writing an allegory but a supposal instead. Lewis claims that he tried to hypothesize what it would be like for Jesus to live in another world. In the Chronicles of Narnia, I believe that C.S. Lewis wrote an allegory. By definition an allegory typically reveals a hidden meaning behind something, which in this case would be the message behind the characters and their actions within Narnia. This can be supported throughout the series in which Lewis makes small but noticeable innuendos to religious beliefs. One book that can be compared to this series to support the claim that Lewis wrote an allegory would be the Bible. The second book, which could support this claim of allegorical writing, would be Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. Lewis also shares some similar viewpoints with Augustine. In Myth became Fact, by C.S. Lewis we are given another view point as to why he believes people think he writes in allegories rather than supposals. In the Bible, the book of Genesis, Augustine believes that the snake was the one to corrupted Adam and Eve, not just because they were human. Lewis has a similar take on this in the series. The children in his stories he believes to be innocent and good, it is not their fault for falling into evil tendencies. In the Narnia series, it is the White Witch s fault that the children or characters fall for evil. Both Augustine and Lewis believe that no one is above being saved. Everyone has the opportunity to repent and be saved by God. Lewis shows this with Edmund throughout the series where Edmund starts out by not believing in Narnia and betraying his siblings trust, to sharing this experience with others and aids them in turning back to the ... • 7. Symptoms And Treatment Of Ocd Introduction OCD is a psychological disorder that affects a wide variety of people; OCD affects approximately two to three percent of the general population. (Ambramowitz, Taylor, and McKay 2009). Ambramowitz and others also state that with this percent, OCD affects about twice as many people as schizophrenia. With this many people affected, the question of what the most effective way of treating the condition needs to be asked. The answer to the question of what the most effective way of treating OCD was answered using the methodology of reviewing many different studies that researched the three main options for treatment. These options include; medication, therapy, and a combination. The effectiveness is determined by the percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The supposed obsession must cause great distress or consume at least an hour of time per day. (DSM VI). The effected must also recognize that the disease is an excessive or unreasonable; these do not apply to children. OCD causes people to think differently and to want to obsess or fixate on things that they know they should not be focused on as much. There are many different things that go towards helping people to fix this so they can have their life back. The only question is; what is the best way to do so? One main way to fix this issue is serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This is a pharmacological treatment option, and the inhibitors include drugs such as Clomipramine and Sertraline. Clomipramine and Sertraline are primarily the same thing as far as effectiveness and function go. However, there is one difference between the two medications, and that is that Sertraline is better tolerated by the human body than Clomipramine is. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors work by interrupting and affecting the serotonin receptors in the brain. There are, however, a few problems with the inhibitor drugs. One major problem is that these medications are only effective in some patients (Ambramowitz, etc., 2009). This was proven in a study of 18 randomized trials in which the effect size was 0.91. The people in this study were given pharmacological treatment designed to treat OCD. Some patients showed symptoms after they were taken off of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of this he is forced to go into our society and go to a normal middle school and live with his guidance counselor. And because he is very different, he is a target in middle school and because of a tradition at that middle school, which elects the weirdest person to be school president, he becomes school president. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This all obviously shows characters inter thinking and as previously mentioned sets up conflict, however the first person narrative shows what multiple viewpoints does not. By utilizing first person narrative in the text it shows what the character s motivation is. Multiple viewpoints doesn t shows the character s motivation because we only see what they are thinking and saying and what kind of problems they are having but we are not seeing what they want throughout the text. However first person narrative shows what Cap s person s goal is and how they re going to achieve it. In the text, on page 20, Cap says, I wonder if I can just go home and get out of this place. this really shows what Caps motivation is, because of first person narrative, it can show what Caps interthinking is, which can show his motivation. Another goal that the author tried tried to achieve was stirring empathy. We se throughout the text, that Cap alwayed asked questions to himself about the world around him. It s kind of dramatic irony because he asked questions about things that knows so little about and we see everyday. So because of this the author makes the reader feel sorry for Cap because he is so clueless. • 13. What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of Indian immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed throughout is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered interchangeable, in this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely, integration advocates for the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants to establish a sense of home away from their original countries. The story entitled, The Third and Final Continent specifically recounts a young Indian man s experience trying to establish himself in Cambridge, Massachusetts after living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his marriage arranged by his family in Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator s apprehension for his wife, Mala s arrival from India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate the transformation of the narrator s cultural status in the United States. Through food, she ultimately asserts the possibility of positive integration, rather than just assimilation, into American society. Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator s relationship with American food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he notices a ... She can be either; because she is, as man is not, always a little beyond good and evil. With her powerful natural drive and her instinct for the concrete and personal, she does not need to agonize over her decisions. There is no code for her to master, no initiation for her to undergo. For this reason she has access to a wisdom which is veiled from man; and man s codes, good or bad, are always, in their formal abstraction, a little absurd in her eyes . . . 1 In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying, all roads lead to Addie. As Diane York Blaine aptly observes: The title ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, Addie s importance to the novel was grievously underestimated by early critics such as Edwin Muir, who observes: We are told far more about Addie Bundren s corpse . . . than

Other critics were more overt in their patriarchal assessments. James Burnham sternly commented on the theme of un romanticized sex in the novel. Dewey Dell and Addie are seen as guilty of this charge; their rejection of maternity as a consequence of sex deems them unnatural, contributing to the theme of moral nihilism 4 that pervades the novel. I sometimes feel that universities feel that the idea of developing work teams in the only and best way to tap the human capital in an organization. Quite often these classes even incorporate the use of team based assignments. This would be demonstrated by every graduate school class for which I have taken at Roosevelt University, in its Master s in Human Resource Management program. Each class has included at least one team project. In fact it seems that all of my classes used a group project as the final project in all of these classes. In fact every class covered the need for developing teams in the workplace. From my personal experience at Roosevelt University, I found that about three out of approximately 5 members of a team did most of the work. Often several team members would ride the coat tails of the other members. • 18. Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced. For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string. As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half. Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the consistency of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the type of reaction (addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties. Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the polymer s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent yield exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One was a story about a Jew, Elie Wiesel from Transylvania, Romania, who was transported to Auschwitz with his family in 1944, but liberated in 1945. Elie, was also the author of this book, Night, published in 1960. Do to the magnificence of events, and storyline, he had won a Nobel Peace prize for this book. On to the next work, was the Italian film Life is Beautiful, that was released in 1997 by Roberto Begnini. Begnini also had played one of the main characters in the movie, Guido. This movie was about an Italian Jewish family s life before and during the Holocaust. Begnini, being the director and a main character, won two different awards. One being an Academy Award for best actor, the other was an Academy Award for best foreign language film. Both Night and Life is Beautiful deal with the importance of the family relationship during the Holocaust, but they approach this horrific time in vastly different ways. Before deportation of the Jews, they were often known to have just lived an ordinary life. What is often overlooked, is that before they were deported, they were often discriminated. Secondly, by insisting the continuation of the rules to be enforced on all of the island, Piggy demonstrates the ideals of civilization. Finally, Piggy idealises civilization by wanting to advance in technology on the island. In William Golding s, Lord of The Flies, Piggy symbolises civilization on the island, while others turn to primitive, savage ways. First and foremost, Piggy s glasses are used to start a fire which shows a sign of civility as fire is the starting point to civilization, with it being the way the boys will return home. During the first meeting, Ralph addresses the group to say that a fire is needed to go in order to attract attention to the island for a passing boat. The boys then, unsure how to start a fire, Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the declining sun lay on a piece of rotten wood. Almost at once a thin trickle of smoke rose up and made him cough (Golding 56). This shows that because of Piggy being hard of sight, the boys were able to start a fire and have the ability to return to civilization. Racism and discrimination towards those of African descent can be hard topics to discuss, especially since America still experiences the discriminatory effects of slavery. The history and fundamentals of slavery has created a rift between whites and blacks that is seemingly impossible to overcome. There has been and will be lasting social effects including racial slurs and misconceptions based on how the world views African Americans. Brent Staples, in Black Men and Public Space, details his experience being treated unfairly due to his racial status. Gloria Naylor s Mommy, what does Nigger Mean? discusses the authors first time being called the N word, how she felt, and how she asked her mom about what it meant. Brent Staples Black Men and Public Space , and Gloria Naylor s Mommy, what does Nigger Mean? are similar through the authors accounts of being treated poorly because of their African descent along with ways to cope with that oppression, and contrast through their tone in the intro and through there experience of being discriminated against and overall effect on the reader. Both authors explore examples in which they are treated in a racist or discriminatory manner. Brent Staples encountered a younger woman and came upon her late one evening on a deserted street... she cast back a worried glance... picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest. (Staples 1) Just the mere sight of him made the woman scared, after this experience he feels surprised, embarrassed, and dismayed all at once. Her flight made me feel like an accomplice in tyranny. (2) He realizes that he is indistinguishable from the muggers... (2), or at least to the woman. Staples experiences, first hand, discrimination; the woman is fearful of him because of his race, and Staples feels the full effect of that. Gloria Naylor recounts the first time she was ever called the N word. It was in class and she she says she couldn t have been more puzzled. Generation X should not be reflected as the lost generation, but the generation that introduced technology embraced innovation and observed tragedies that implanted fear across the entire nation. Evaluating the Main Theories of Counselling Essay This essay will attempt to highlight and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the three main theories of counselling within the module covered this term. The three approaches in discussion are psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic. The psychodynamic theory originated from Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor and philosopher (1856 1939) founded in the 1900s. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in Vienna, collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood experiences. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Id is the unconscious state of mind; it is responsible for our voluptuous and immediate satisfaction. It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also responsible for our libido (sexual instinct). The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of them. This develops during the first two years of life. The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right and wrong. Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other. It involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to behave leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue. The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection, denial and intellectualisation. Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams and interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much to mind her taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When Hermes arrives on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is bawling on the beach a day long activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no companions to help him back to Ithaka, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to give Odysseus good fortune, saying that he lies away on an island suffering strong pains in the palace of the nymph Kalypso, and she detains him by constraint, and he cannot make his way to his country, for he has not any ships by him, nor any companions who can convey him back ... • 34. Dr. Seuss Changed the Lives of All Children It was March 2, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. A baby boy was born; a boy that one day changed the world for all children. That boy was Theodor Seuss Geisel, mostly known as Dr. Seuss. His mother and father, Henrietta and Theodore Geisel, called him Ted. Theodor became a writer, poet, and cartoonist. His work had a revolutionary impact on children s literature and changed the way children learned to read. As a young bot Theodor began drawing many pictures. He was always drawing strange looking people and animals on his school books. (Wheeler 6) His father would take him to the local park and zoo, where he loved to go and sketch pictures of all the animals. His mother would sing and read stories to him and his older sister Marnie. As he grew older his imagination continued to grow and he continued to draw and create stories. After high school, in 1921, he started college at Dartmouth to be a professor. He would draw cartoons for the college magazine, and he began signing his work with the name Seuss. In 1925 he graduated at Dartmouth and enrolled at Oxford University where he met a young woman named Helen Palmer. After two years he dropped out of Oxford and moved back to the United States., but not without his friend Helen. She encouraged him to give up teaching and become an artist. (Adil 11) After leaving England in early 1927, he and Helen moved to New York and were married there later that year. While in New York, he worked on drawing cartoons and his first one ... • 35. Understanding The Concept Of Operating System That... An OS that does not support multithreading cannot simultaneously utilize multiple processors (CPUs). Please explain why? (10 points) Ans) To understand the concept of operating system that supports or does not support multithreading, we must first understand the meaning of multithreading. Multithreading: Multithreading means running number of threads at the same given time. Usually, this term is used when we talk about single processes which use more than one thread. So, at the level of CPU, one thread is running at one time only, but at the OS level, multiple threads or processes can be at running state which means that they will be periodically scheduled to run on the processor. When we allude to a running thread or procedure, we by and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Multithreading and Multiprocessors (CPUs): A processor is a container for threads as far as the OS scheduler is concerned. Each process has at least one thread. Other than that, running multiple processes and multiple threads are mostly the same thing: after each time slicing, the OS scheduler determines the next thread to run for each CPU core, and then it switches the content to that particular thread. OS that does not support multithreading cannot use multiprocessors: A thread which is a flow of execution through a process code which has its own program counter, system and stack is a light weight process that provides a way to improve an application performance through parallelism. Two important characteristics of windows are its support for threads and for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP). Within a single process, windows support the use of multiple threads of execution. Simultaneously, multiple threads that are within the same process may execute on different processors. Without multithreading, one cannot divide the work load, thus parallelism that is making use of more than one CPU simultaneously is impossible. Thus, if the operating system doesn t support multithreading it cannot utilize the multiple processors because it can t distribute the processes among the processors. That s the reason supporting multithreading is required for this process. Q2) Ava s software company has a contract to design and implement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Secondary points; taxes are just to expensive that s why we need to get rid of foreign aid. People are already having trouble with taxes, and now that we added this it is going to be almost impossible for some people to live in this economy. 2. We, The United States of America should have it to where people are not required to help people in lower income countries, neighborhoods, etc. People should start a charity, and then people that care about it can pay for it and then the people of the United States of America will not be held back by the ropes of taxes and be free to have cheaper taxes. Then the democrats and the green party will see what the government should really be like and not very resistant to where people will be going into poverty. Then people will understand that the government is very confusing right now, and people will be happy with lowering taxes and then the government will be one closer step to having everything simple and figured out The government is taking people money in taxes which is doing both making taxes very high while doing that it makes people that are already having trouble with taxes. Now that we added this it is going to be almost impossible for some people to live in this economy and the government also gives the money from people to other people that are in a low income country. This all started when people when into poverty and could not afford to keep people in their business so then it made it to where the people that owned the business go bankrupt and not be able to afford their business and then the whole cycle started again. • 38. When People Think Of A Presidential Election, Chances Are When people think of a presidential election, chances are that they will focus on election night itself, completely ignoring the nomination process that came before it. Although our current nomination process has been around for over one hundred years, it has not been without its complications. For almost thirty years, states have been guilty of front loading which Dictionary.com defines as the process of concentrating maximum effort on an activity at the outset (Dictionary.com, n.d.). Every year, different states change their primary or caucus dates to fall earlier in the year, effectively front loading the presidential campaign every four years. As stated in my prospectus, my proposed reform involves adopting an open primary schedule ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, a caucus is a public vote in which people in specific regions meet up and physically move from one side of a room to another after listening to candidates debates to make their choice. When the primaries/caucuses are over, the delegates, who represent the votes of the citizens, travel to their parties national convention in which the delates meet with super delegates. It is here that together, they make their choice for presidential nominee (Olson, 2016). I believe this current system is not democratic enough because front loading of presidential campaigns has many drawbacks. To begin, front loading hurts the democratic nature of the nomination process because it hurts the states. All states, by the power of the constitution, are democratic and can choose to participate in the nomination process of their choosing. Be it a caucus or a primary, delegates and super delegates are always involved. The current nomination system is part of our representative democracy in which we, the people, vote for representatives to represent us in government (Dahl, 2003, p.73). As the presidential race progresses from state to state, the race itself becomes less and less about platform issues and increasingly more about delegate counts and spending large sums of money used for convincing the American public to vote a precise way. If candidates will be bouncing back and forth from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Cash Management Cash Management Comparison Cash Management Comparison Many organizations make a financial goal to minimize the amount of cash on hand on a monthly basis. This goal is based on attempting to reduce the amount of non earning assets for the company. Cash on hand that is not required to meet a specific need could be placed in an interest bearing account or used to pay down on a credit balance, also reducing the amount of interest a company would have to pay on a loan. Minimizing cash balances as well as having accurate knowledge of when cash moves into and out of the company can improve overall corporate profitability. (Block Hirt, 2004, pg. 175). • 40. The Dark Knight Batman Comparison First things first: I love Batman. Far from making me biased towards Batman films, this actually makes me more critical of film versions of The Dark Knight. I hated the previous installment of Batman movies, in fact. It shows how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) saw his parents gunned down by a mugger, how he left Gotham afterwards to learn about criminals, and how, in this version, he received training from Ra s Al Ghul (Ken Watanabe) and returned to Gotham to combat crime. En route to becoming Batman, Bruce defied Ra s wishes by refusing to finish his training by killing a farmer who killed his neighbor. Bruce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is the best Batman and best Bruce Wayne ever on the big screen. As the caped crusader, Bale brings the right amount of intimidation and confidence that make Batman the force of nature he is. But in Batman Begins, Bruce has only begun his crusade. So, wisely, Bale is not as refined a vigilante so there are moments when his confidence shakes and he shows more weakness than Batman normally would. As Wayne, Bale brings the perfect balance of a billionaire playboy act, genuine caring, and humor. In case you hadn t guessed, Katie Holmes as Bruce s childhood friend and love interest Rachel Dawes gives the only poor performance in the movie. She plays her role too stereotypically, especially when Batman rescues her, as the damsel in distress and love interest for Batman/Bruce Wayne. It s as if Holmes did not realize that Nolan wanted to create a more realistic, weighty Batman. All the other actors give some of the most realistic portrayals of their classic characters ever, but Holmes does nothing to distinguish herself from a comic book ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Pros And Cons Of Military Technology Conclusion It is common knowledge within the tech community that some commercial technology lags at least a decade behind new military technology. The lag time will allow for an adjustment period to help facilitate the acceptance from the public on a mass scale. The merging does not have to be at the extremes of what is demonstrated on television shows such as Star Trek, and there will be those who stand against the changes due to religious and philosophical beliefs. Nevertheless, those who embrace the newfound world will outnumber those who do not. Just as people rush to get the newest iPhone or tech gadget, they will slowly integrate new hybrid technology into their lives. It will be only a matter of time until all humans assimilate into a future where man and machine co exist as one organism thus breaking the biological barriers that have constrained human evolution thus far. A.I Summoning the Demon illustrates the consequences of creating advanced artificially intelligent machines and discusses possible solutions to the problem. The importance of regulations is discussed along with the need for the human race to become a hybrid species. These solutions together will ensure the longevity of the human species well into the next millennium. Annotated Bibliography Allen, Gregg, and Chan Taniel.
